"Sagan from Audiology Associates were silence is not golden Doctor said You have good. See you. Good to see you too. Well, we are here again. It's another Sunday morning. And let's and let's talk about tinnitus and, uh, with Covid. And with masks. Do you see what patients coming in to see you is tinnitus any worse? And especially after they've had covid, or maybe had the vaccine. What do you see with Absolutely. We definitely see a little bit more of an increase in tentative patients Recently. One is we know that tinnitus is affected by stress. So if you are feeling really stressed that kind of just going to be louder, and the past year and a half has been very stressful for so many patients, so we're seeing that occur. We've also seen candidates that rise from Covid, Um post covid symptoms as well as from the back seat. So you can't predict who's going to experience any auditory symptoms. But we are definitely seeing an increase in Canada from The vaccine and covid, Um so we always go through a very thorough case History when patients come into our practice so we can try and correlate the start of the Tennessee Estimate be something that has occurred like the vaccine, or covid. That then we just monitor you differently once we know that Canada's is caused from the vaccine, or cova to see if it improves, But if you've already had candidates prior to Covid and just from routine hearing loss There's a lot of different treatments available now, especially because we know what times are distrustful and senators can be a little bit worse. Um, So when we talk about treatments that are available for Canada s, you know, most patients who have tinnitus also have hearing loss or damage to the co Cleo from noise exposure, environmental changes. You know, we know that smokers are more at risk for tinnitus and hearing loss. So again, if you do have 10 minutes, we just go through that case history that see if there's any factors that might be attributing to the calls with the vaccine, are you Are you seeing any You know, differences from From 50 Moderna from the one shot Johnson and Johnson. Do you see any difference with this? We haven't No, no difference. And we've seen that through many different kinds of vaccines in the office. You know, I'm Fortunately, and unfortunately, you know, the vaccines are so new that there were still learning about symptoms that can occur after receiving the vaccine, and we're just seeing that Canada's arising, and, um, usually hearing loss in one ear. Can occur as well, so something that we're just monitoring through our patients. Are you seeing with the treatments are Is there any backup? In other words, Do you see any of the tinnitus may be getting better over time, or it's something that has to be treated immediately both so a lot of patients are really bothered by it because it is so sudden. So in those patients, we are working on treatment pretty thick. Pretty quickly to see if we can alleviate some of the candidates that's occurring and we can't share that candidates. You know, there's no magic pill, but we can treat the tinnitus to make the brain not focus on it right. We're going to have to take a break, but 4 10 944 31 100. "Way of seeing this. This was engineered by Joe Biden. The departure it was engineered by Joe Biden. The manner of the departure was engineered by Joe Biden. The military were left with too few military in country to defend two airports. 2500 people there. And that's it. Which means you can either do Bagram Air Force Base, which is big and secure, and the probably should have been the one they kept. Or you can do Kabul. Which now? Of course before we left was completely surrounded by our enemies. So we're pretty much screwed. They're pretty much screwed. Phil is in Woodlawn. He's next up talk radio 6 80 Wcbm. Good morning, Phil Group. They don't one. Biden did it The way he wanted to do it. He wanted to get out like that. Because otherwise he would have been doing it the way, Trump said. And Trump would have got the credit. So he's doing it like he did the border and all the other things he screws up, and that's what's really, really sad. And not want to see Trump get credit that Hey, every guys out all the machines out everything. It's really sad. These people of such hypocrites and liars that's not funny thing you know? No, it's Joe Biden has not been on the right side of any geopolitical issue his entire time in Congress. Or as vice president. At first he tried to pass the buck by saying, I just inherited this. Excuse me. You were vice president for eight years. You know, you can't simultaneously say you helped decide all those big things with Barack Obama and then say, But nobody told me anything. I mean, no, you didn't just inherited. You knew all about it for almost a full decade for eight years. He wasn't going to do it the way Trump was going to do it anyway. Just like he did with the body opened the border. The all he gave Russia the right, you know, That's the crazy thing from Todd them, saying Well, um Trump is the one that no, Because you wouldn't. You wasn't gonna do it the way from there. And, you know, I'm scared. The next thing they're going to blow up the entire Empire State building or or the White House. Really? Well, I'm big concern going into this particular 9 11 at the very least. It's going to be, um And politically orgasmic day for the far left and for you know the Taliban in Afghanistan who are making a big show of kicking the great Satan out of Afghanistan. And of course we've left behind hostages. I don't know if you're familiar with what's going on there. Six airplanes over there at one of the airports there, they will not let them leave. The airplanes are full of Americans and Translators and they won't let them leave until they have their demands. Mint gosh, sounds like a hostage situation to me. Yeah, it sounds like anybody could have predicted this. We did. And I said, if you do this, and you leave Americans behind, they will be held as hostage until you give the Taliban more money or more this or more of that, And then if any another group, they'll do it again. Yep. And that is what Biden has done. It's an absolute idiot Move. And there's no two ways about it usually get to characterize it for what it is, is an idiot move. Phil, Thanks for your call. "Audiology associates opened the brother You talk radio's 6 80 wcbm. I'm Jeff Michaels, along with Dr Melissa Segev. It's a Sunday morning and we're talking to hearing hearing problems here. He AIDS I hear you speaking. So, uh, you know, we talked about here engaged and I want to talk a little bit more about technology. When you talk about the different levels of hearing AIDS, but I think with any level we talked about this before, I mean, the technology is there so you can't go wrong with whatever you need. And whatever cost hunt area you're in. Absolutely and you know, they thought there's recharge abilities. You don't ever need to change batteries anymore. You know, we we take it a step further for certain patients who enjoy it is that the hearing aid can connect to cellphones. Whether it's an android or iPhone, and that way you can literally hear your phone calls and both hearing AIDS. So when you talk on the phone, typically it's just one year, which is often why we struggle to hear. We need two years for hearing and optimal auditory benefit. So when you're able to stream into both years, you just get that clarity that back and it's just hands free. So it's so much easier to use. And then there are also APS on the earth cellphone that pair to the hearing aid so you can really have a little more control, too. Maybe make sounds a little more clear in certain situations don't produce background ways and others and some manufacturers allow you to control the microphone direction, very easy by hitting buttons, and it's laid out very nicely. So there are so many If you when you do go up in that technology range of benefits that we can help you with and Make the integration of technology just super easy for you and and wonderful to use. And again. You were mentioning that if you go to the website, ai audiology dot com they can see the hearing AIDS also see what the cost is going to be. Is that is that yet, but they're still out there. Yes, There are five treatment plans that we offer its owner websites. He could go and see them. Um, take a look. And then, of course, there probably is a lot of confusion. So if you do come in for your initial evaluation, we are able to really talked a little. We take that time to talk in depth about what That really means. What will be best for you? Um you know which one's most appealing and go.

And along with me is Dr Melissa Sehgal from Audiology Associates, where silence is not golden. Dr. Melissa. It's so good to see you. Right wise. Everything is so much up in the air these days with covert 19. Corona viruses just changing everything. And even with you, it's changing how people are coming in with their affected hearing problems, and let's let's address that talk about the covert 19. And how it causes hearing laws. And, you know people are dealing with that. And also with the wearing masks and how that is working. So you know, how are you doing it? Well, you know, we're definitely have changed a lot of things within our practice. We close for eight weeks mainly to help reduce a curve back in March, and during that time we really took That time to make sure that when we did reopen that patients would be a safest possible not only for patients but also our employees. So when you do come into our office, we have more. We're following CDC protocol for safety we're wearing, you know, and 95 mask so long was face shields when we're close and gloves. And we recommend all patients have to wear masks when they come into her office as well. So we are also allowing 15 minutes between patients for the room to her out in case any particles were dispersed on giving us time to sanitize appropriately anyplace that was touched by patients in the air. When patients to come in. The first thing we want you to know is that you're not going to come in with a waiting room full of people times a really spaced out and we're really being very cautious or also is our questions that we ask you a covert questions to make sure that when you do come in, you're not high risk for other patients in our environment. So we feel like we're taking a lot of precautions to make sure you're safe. So when you do come in, you're taking care of We know how hard not being able to hear is in general, and then you add being quarantined and masks on top of that. Mass. Our heart as you know, I mean, we all went real liberate. And when you put a mask on, not only can you not see their lips, but there's definitely a muted sound coming out from patients and from other people you're interacting with. We know that between three and five decibels, so adding insult to injury is so difficult during this time, and how important is hearing I mean, we know it's important in general. But right now, that's all we have, because we're listening to maybe a loved one we live with or a little bit of family were talking to We're not seeing our friends and we're not socializing like we used to go Sure, And you want to hear the television and the and our family and the phone and those air really are sources of communication that we have now And if you remove, you know, having hearing loss there and and add that that is just a really,.

"I welcome into our continuing discussions with Dr Melissa Segev. From Audiology Associates were silence is not golden. Dr. Melissa, How are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm doing great. Always good to talk to you. Likewise. We are here again. Talking about my favorite subject hearing and the problems that come with it. You know, So, uh, as I always say, What'd you say? What'd you say? So we're gonna We're gonna We're gonna help people out there saying the same thing. So let's talk. You know the main thing people come in, and when they see you, they get the hearing checked and a lot of times. Sometimes they need hearing AIDS. Sometimes they don't Like the Times they do. Let's talk about what the cost is for that. Sure, you know, we actually have a little bit different. Um Kind of route when we look at the cost of hearing AIDS, and all of our information is actually on our website, So it's very transparent as when you come in what you're getting because we found a lot of patients we're calling in the first question out of the mountain was you know how much of your hearing AIDS We wanted to actually break it down and be very honest. About what? What that looks like. So basically, what you pay for is a treatment plan. When you come in, you don't necessarily pay for the hearing aid. We offer about five different treatment plans, And as you go up in the treatment plans, the hearing aid technology improves, But so does the amount of treatment that you you're getting. So what we found is that some patients really just don't need a lot of treatment and just don't need a lot of high technology. And so there's a device out there for them. And then there's patients who really are very worried that something's going to break and what is the cost? Every year on we haven't all inclusive plan that literally for five years covers. Um one up front fee and then nothing else for the rest of the remainder, and that includes warranty for loss and damage warranty for loss. It includes upgraded Chargers and, like battery chargers, and some upgraded, UM, hearing AIDS. A lot of patients are really driven to that. And then there's kind of Very low end, which you know, we offer for patients who really have are looking for a very budget friendly device where you're getting limited treatment because you just don't need it any more treatment and it was kind of lower and technology wins. So it's kind of very nice to see in the impatience of responding really well to the treatment plans because they really like to see the services that they're getting along with the hearing aid and the technology and it really lays it out nicely for them on our website 14 944 31 100. If you have any kind of problems, go see Doc of Let's say.

We set about 200 of our guardsmen back to D. C. To make sure we had a peaceful transfer of power. They did their job. And it is a national disgrace that they were escorted out of the capital into an unheated parking garage. When I got that news, I immediately called, are edged in general and said Get our men and women back home. And why the other whatever additional governors still have troops there. I'm not sure which states do why They ended up the same as a bit of a puzzle me if they think they have a problem coming up so they can address it as it begins to occur. But the idea of keeping people there indefinitely to mid march because somehow we need the security. It leads to a bad place. It just leads to a very unfortunate place. I'd like to say that saga with doctor releases said gave from audiology Associates where silence is not golden. Dr. Melissa, How are you? Good morning. I'm great. How are you? I'm doing good. Look on everybody's mind is covert 19, and it's and it's just created so many problems and Let's talk about how it how it effects. Hearing laws. Yeah, that you know, I get that question a lot now and through this covert itself. I mean, one of the symptoms typically is not hearing loss, but some of the medications that we can take if you ever needed a strong antibiotic. Some of them can definitely affect hearing loss, maybe cause ringing in the ear. There have been reports of patients who had Cove it and then have lost hearing after as a result of the virus. And that is something that can happen with covert or other viruses where you can get a virus in the inner ear in it affects our hearing causes tinnitus, which is ringing in the ears and often and sometimes can even affect our balance. Um, So it's one of those that with some patients to experience Cove in 1 may come in for testing afterwards. We definitely always when I ask about their symptoms and what they experienced somewhat treatments. They went through to get better. Well, we covered 19. And it's interesting because you know, everybody is really focused in with the masks, and they're focused in with really trying to separate themselves. And when they come into your office, What are you doing to help them succeed with this? Well, Max are so hard. I mean, everyone lip reads, even with normal hearing, and then you take that out of the equation because we're all wearing masks, and for patients who have hearing loss, it's making it even more difficult. It is so hard for for patients these days, and I really feel for them. What we're doing is that we're helping to try and compensate for patients who wear hearing AIDS. We can give him a mass setting or increase in volume for them. We're giving him about a three deaths about increase through the regular settings just to compensate for the mask because it not only mussels, your voice, but we're not able to liberate And it really is creating a ton of challenges for patients. So when patients come in, we always want to help them try and be able to hear better with mass because we don't know how long we'll be in them. And then we can make adjustments when you're in the mask and when you're not The other thing is that if you are a hearing aid wearers and you have a mask, it is very difficult is the biggest complaint of all patients right now is that you know they have the mass behind the ear. They have a hearing aid. Most were classes and it's just a lot going between a little space. So there are some things that we can do. We're giving some of our every patient who walks in who requests that we have clips that can attach to the hearing aid and onto their clothes, So if it did fall off from a massive, you're taking it off. Hearing. You will just hang and he won't lose them. Oh, good, good. That is a concern. And then there are also clips. You can get that. Instead of looking behind the ear, they would hook to the clip that runs behind your head. But in the mass would hook onto that removing the ear from the equation or I'm recommending patients. If you can find a mask that will go behind your head and not behind your ear That could be really helpful. Just making sure we don't lose our hearing AIDS. What's the number? "The background that you really it's kind of elevator music. It just goes away after a few minutes. You don't even hear it. But what it's doing is keeping the brain busy. It sounds like it might be bothersome. But for my tinnitus sufferers, the tinnitus is way more annoying on when they start to get the benefit, though the white noise that you might hear goes away The other thing to that hearing. It could help with it for a lot of patients is that you might not need that white noise. If there is here in Los, simply giving a hearing aid to that patient and forgiving sounds where the tinnitus is occurring is enough to keep the brain busy. So it's not focused on the tenderness and just here is better. And then the brain overtime is thinking. Why am I creating tinnitus? If I'm hearing these sounds and it was slowly back away. I get quieter, so hearing neighbor great option for treatment. 14.
