"Got us abundant day back at it. The weather wise. What are we looking at? We're gonna assigned from our storm. That's going to be sweet into the central states later this week. We are looking at a storm system that's going to develop right along the coast right in the wake of this cold front. Swept away the the beautiful warm weekend. Temperatures from the east coast. This new storms expected to intensify near the Atlantic beaches of the southeast sometime Tuesday tomorrow. Now that storm will be preceded by a band of rain in northern Florida and southern Georgia today starting to see some of that in the big bend area. Gusty winds are going to be stirring up. Some rough surf admitted the Atlantic beaches today rip currents may threaten anyone. Brave enough to enter the cool waters. Taibbi Allen Georgia as well as Jacksonville and Daytona Beach in Florida. The coastal hazards may increase at the beaches of the Carolinas by Tuesday as this storm strengthens beach erosion coastal flooding can occur especially at high tide. Heavy rain and gusty winds forty plus miles per hour could see some flash flooding and some of the low line in poor drainage areas as well as some sporadic power outages. Some rain will spread back to the interstate eighty five corridor from Charlotte and Raleigh North Carolina on Tuesday, if the storm strengthens closer to the coast rain could actually target communities even further to the west if the rain reaches the southern Appalachians. It's not out of the question. We could actually see some snowfall further to the south a few heavy thunderstorms may develop and track across central Florida on Tuesday. Now after the storm impacts the southeast AccuWeather said they're favoring attract that allows most of the northeast to escape the heaviest rain in the strongest winds. As the storm looked more likely to target Nova Scotia, the exception may be southeastern Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and down east Maine where you'll see maybe a six to twelve hour period of some heavy rain and strong winds late Tuesday into Wednesday. Winds may gust around forty miles per hour. On Cape Cod. Even in that scenario looks like with the storm could bring at least some rain to the coastal areas from coastal New Jersey to eastern Long Island Tuesday night. Some rain maybe grazing other communities in eastern New England later Tuesday into Wednesday as well, maybe some minor traffic delays in Boston.

"Well, and and do you have a figure handy right now for? Just a little bit down the road at morehead city. I don't have the I don't have any current estimates. I know as a five PM yesterday they were already up to about twenty inches. But I don't have any figures yet. Okay. I believe I saw some number that they were up over thirty inches that would make sense. They were in that area that the weather prediction center was saying commonly twenty to thirty would isolated forty. So they're probably well on their way. And and if you mentioned earlier would just think park over extreme, South Carolina. We've got these bands of heavy heavy rainfall, which are essentially training over the same areas. So not only are they getting rain. But there's no way nowhere for the water to go. But up while I'm looking at a band that is just below the Outer Banks, which seems to be the one edges near morehead city, Atlantic beach and that band of rain than stretches back down to somewhere near like. Snead's ferry or north Topsail beach, and that band looks to be about a hundred miles long going into going into the Atlantic on radio. That's exactly those. I'm staring at it right now on the radar and that is exactly what's going on. And this is just rinse and repeat it just keeps going over the same area. Very different scenario if the storm is moving quickly, but it's not. So you're getting all this heavy rain over essentially the same area. And so it's it's it's training, folks. This is what we call training. Yeah. And and boxcar effect, right? Exactly. In other words, there is a track that runs hundred miles out into the Atlantic and it curves around and it pushes his way up and ends up somewhere near. Oh. I don't know. Let's see here. Gold goldsboro. Maybe I'll Grange Kingston new Bern, and that's the northern edge of it. And so if you are in Richard's Half Moon. Oh my goodness. Yeah. Jacksonville. Jacksonville point. We want to get across to all our listeners here is this is a life threatening catastrophic event for the flash floods and the prolonged significant river flooding we're going to be talking into this early next week. And this is going to continue over the Carolinas today the southern to central Appalachians from. Western North Carolina and west central Virginia, Anita far, western West Virginia are going to feel the direct impacts of this thing and to make it worse. There actually could be some landslides in the higher terrain because of all the all the water just pulling on those crews and just pulling everything down. In fact, we're going to do some checking on the Appalachian trail shortly in regards to the landslide issues. But what I'm hearing. You say is something like turn. What is that saying turn around? Don't drown don't drought. Yeah. By the way, we're you guys the ones responsible at the weather service for that song. Yes. It was the national weather service that I I don't I don't think anybody in the weather service wrote the lyrics. I think they got a professional for that. But we're scientists. It's a it's a good jingle. And it's been a very good campaign is very simple easy to remember. And it works, and we hope people will just remember those four simple words that could save your life turn around. Don't drown. Wow. Incredible. And by the way, I you need to pass this up the chain at the weather service after we started playing the song this evening it lit up our phones across the country. We had calls from the west coast to the east coast. And and so you may have a chart moving hit on your hands turnaround ground. Yeah. Maybe we'll make the billboard top forty. Dennis. Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate it very much. I know you need to get back and get the ball rolling letting people know what's going on. And if you can do anything about speeding this bad boy up that would be great. My my thing and TV is you know is. Sales not production. But we hope for the best. Yeah. Without a doubt. You know, what I think in honor of Dennis's movement of let's make sure we do it. Right. Why don't we do it? One more time. Do not drought death. You know, what the one nice thing about that song? It is the perfect lead into the next thing that I want to talk about here on Red Eye Radio. And by the way, we're going to be here. Steve Lenore myself going to be back here again tomorrow night. So please join us. We'll be here at ten o'clock Pacific time and one o'clock east coast time and all the time in between, but mudslides Dennis mentioned that and the the hills in the mountains that border the Carolinas. It's gonna still rain there, and it's going to be raining there into Monday and into Tuesday, and because of the tropical moisture that is thick this is rich atmosphere. If you're in it, you know, what I'm talking about. It's it's it's almost kind of like thick you breathe it in it. It's almost moisture and and and short and sweet about all his bad. Boy is that the Appalachians. Are not going to be in good shape. The National Park Service and the US forest service. If closed portions of the trail in both North Carolina and Virginia because of the storm the Appalachian trail conservancy is urging hikers to get off the trail and seek shelter. The nonprofit says dangerous conditions could include falling trees flash floods and mudslides, and that's Westwood one's. Correspondent Bill Michaels. Wanting to let you know that mudslides are going to be an issue. And so the situational awareness know, where you live if you live in one of those places that has run off and rain, then know where you live and be prepared to recognize this is going to be one of those situations where we could have some very dangerous mudslides from the rains associated with tropical storm Florence as we finally work our way to get Florence out of here. But currently Florence isn't moving all that fast about two miles an hour. Now, you'll see it on the bulletin. Sins is five because I think that's about as low down as they're allowed to go. "I mean, the gusting has been as high as over one hundred new Bern, by the way is apparently been hit particularly hard. And and they're actually giving out helpline numbers for their nine. One. One calls are are coming in because I guess people have been devastated, I guess, we're not going to be able to assess the property damage until win tomorrow. Well, I I don't think we'll be able to really get in there. And look at it till probably next week some time because you're still gusty forty to fifty miles an hour of the south east tomorrow, and you're still piling water in. Yeah, I'm looking at the models. Have for instance, have another twenty inches of rain in Wilmington before this is done. So you know, the way you say that this is now sits there for twenty four thirty six hours and just keeps dropping rain like mad IMC some pictures now of some destruction in new Bern newborn does look like it was hit pretty hard. I don't see buildings that have collapsed. But I do see a lot of windows broken. A lot of debris has flown over everything. Whereas like, they're still standing. Yeah. I don't think you're going to see, you know, building. You don't see besides they build them to code now. So, but look I've been to a tree down. And there's a storefront that was blown open the head plywood on it. But when I see appear demolished in Atlantic beach, which is stored against these hurricanes for years, I have to say to myself. I wonder what else is going on. So when they when it's all over they'll assess the damage and see the real the bottom line is how costly we hope there's no cost to you in life. But how costly is it the property? But let's remember also this is a five to seven day warning you had the president getting out there. And just like he was the leader of an army mobilizing an army determined to make sure that everybody was ready for this. And so, you know, you're darned if you do darned if you don't if it doesn't cause a tremendous amount of damage, people gras wasn't that bad if it causes more. Oh, look at that. They didn't do their job. So yeah. The the blame some images are coming in from new Bern North Carolina does show that the water the flooding is. Massive. It would definitely seeing that part of it, which is kind of like the ground zero area where I hit right? So I guess it's slow moving as you said it hit it hit it right still beach, and it's been drifting west south Westwood. "Top of the hour. We've been watching now the hurricane hurricane Florence hit. The coast Wilmington, North Carolina. And it seems to be taking the track that we said, but it doesn't seem to be as damaging as we once thought we have six hundred thousand plus people without power ten to fifteen foot storm surges. We do have Cajun navy rescuers there they've been involved in helping some people that have gotten into trouble. We have seen some neighborhoods that are flooded. But it doesn't look as bad as we thought. It would look at least from my perspective. But we still have a lot of time left to go. We have are the official meteorologist of the Sean Hannity show. That's Joba starting whether bell dot com. I'm looking at it. Now it. It just doesn't seem to be knocking down any houses or flooding to any extreme that would concern me. Like what we thought was going to happen. Well, the only thing you're seeing pictures in those areas that being seen furnaces after Katrina three o'clock in the afternoon. So reporter standing on bourbon street saying well, we dodged a bullet over here. And you don't really know what's going on and ninety nine point nine percent of the area that people aren't taking pictures, for instance, the Atlantic beach, which has been there for years and years was demolished. All right Wilmington has had a wind gusts to one hundred and five miles an hour, which is the second highest on record and Wilmington, of course, records go back there. One hundred years with all these great hurricanes that have gone through that area. Donna Hazel, and you go and Fran and Floyd. So when I when I look at something like this. I wait until it's all over like, I remember coming Alica said, we're coming home for Katrina. I've been working about thirty six hours straight and walked in the house and just as well, they're saying it's not that bad. My wife said that to me because they were reporting from one place, so we have to see what's going on. And let's keep in mind. We're still getting wind gusts harking force out of the southeast at rights, Phil beach, and all the way up the coast. These folks in new Bern where the water is coming down the river, and the sound is coming up, and they're very very bad shape. It's just spreading into the grand strand. Now, the strong. "The top of the hour. We've been watching now the hurricane hurricane Florence hit. The coast Wilmington North Carolina, and it seems to be taking the track that we said, but it doesn't seem to be as damaging as we once thought we have six hundred thousand plus people without power ten to fifteen foot storm surges. That's job is starting whether bell dot com. I'm looking at it. Now, it just doesn't seem to be knocking down any houses or flooding to any extreme that would concern me. Like what we thought was going to happen. Well, the only thing you're seeing pictures in those areas that being seen I after Katrina three o'clock in the afternoon. So reporter standing on bourbon street saying well, we dodged a bullet over here. And you don't really know what's going on in ninety nine point nine percent of the area that people aren't taking pictures, for instance, the Atlantic beach, which has been there for years and years was demolished. All right Wilmington has had a wind gusts to one hundred and five miles an hour, which is the second highest on record. And Wilmington, of course, records go back there. One hundred years with all these great hurricanes that have gone through that area. Donna and Hazel, and you go and Fran and Floyd. So when I when I look at something like this. I wait until it's all over like, I remember coming Alica said coming home for Katrina. It'd be working about thirty six hours straight. I walked in the house and just as well, they're saying, it's not that bad. My wife said to me because they were reporting from one place, so we have to see what's going on. And let's keep in mind. We're still getting wind gusts to a harking force out of the southeast at rights, still beach and all the way up the coast. These folks in new Bern where the water is coming down the river, and the sound is coming up, and they're very very bad shape. It's just spreading into the grand strand. Now, the strongest winds, by the way in the Myrtle Beach area will be tomorrow afternoon. And that's when they could.

"The same amount of energy the same amount of water in it that that cat. Cake longer to deliberate. And while the pictures are great of idiots like gay and on the beach. You know, getting blown over with the wind. That's one thing. What really causes all the destruction is the water, and because of the way the barrier islands of North Carolina form rather than being a barrier ceremony. Jackie like funnel now for all. The storm surge. So there's gonna be a lot of people who are going to be in a world of hurt for a very long time after this storm, but you mentioned people leeland where have how many people have you seen around Atlantic beach, North Carolina, so far is there anybody else on the beach with you, or is it just you and other news correspondents? Right now, just talking to other news, correspondent police swept everybody out that we told you to evacuate. We can't make you a vacuum. But if you're not gonna evacuate, then you gotta go to your house, and some people listening some people didn't we were just with the police chief who had to run because there are a couple of people who decided to ride this storm out in a sailboat of all things. Twentieth. Atlantic speech finest then have to go put on narrow dry, suits and life jackets and try to go save this be chatting with Wayland veteran. A Fox News. Joining us here on the hammer and Nigel show, he has Atlantic beach North Carolina covering hurricane Florence and Leland from what I understand here. The flooding is going to be the major concern. Because once the storm makes landfall that's not the end of it. It's an -ticipant to stick around for the entire weekends. Correct. Right. Exactly. And and the hours there's already flooding already roads passable, I it it's not going to be long before those roads, go from impassable deadly two houses inundated. And they're talking about forty inches of rain. We all remember the pictures from hurricane Harvey of all those water rescues in really got what everybody's getting ready for now. The fire departments now ball staged all their water rescue teams to go in. Once once the storm subsides in those these water levels, not just going to be on the coast, either going to be thirty forty fifty sixty miles inland where you're gonna get these massive floods Leland, tell me something. Then how how did you get there? How long did it take for you to get there to Atlantic beach, North Carolina? And then what are you gonna do when things start to really get nasty? Well, it's it's a great question. And we've got great teams who just down here we moved down on Monday. I'd put teams all along the beaches. We've got you evacuation points that we know we can get to supply staged whether it be you or FU in other asset stage that not only can we keep reporting. But we can also stay on the air and be able to have communications and then stay safe as well. And then we we tried to move out to wherever the story. I is there found a couple of condos that we were able to rent and in stage in there and wait in able to wait the storm out inland tomorrow. You'll be calling into Tony cats program with more updates, correct? We'll do.
