It is beauty born out of the desire to survive. But I disagree. And the fridge Atlanta park. It's much for us hugging. Saved my life too. In 1998, I was homeless, living on the streets of Ade Saba. My street life changed when I found work as a dancer at asmari Bates, a traditional nightclub in that disavow. I danced every single night for 12 years with no salary. For the first 7 years, after the customers left, they turned off the light and slept under the bar. That's where I dreamt of telling the world about my Ethiopia of today through traditional dance. And my dreams came true. Along with traditional musicians, dancers, and bands. I have performed all around the world. And in our denucci, Brazil cup but music are nature far out of sale. And. It's unethical. With our rich music and dance, we tell contemporary stories that challenge the single narrative of Ethiopia, of hunger and war. Stories that express our spirit of freedom and pride that Ethiopia was never colonized. Now I'll dance improvising to jazz music. But jazz music a match affirm what a man and come back. Why jazz, you might ask, jazz because it's an African music diasporic tradition. And it's feeling of freedom resonates in Ethiopia, like. In a way, dancing to jazz feels like going home. "Despite the increase in interest rates, which is going to be announced on what today I think they're going to have two quarters of point. Now, representative tell us the tell us a little bit about crime in Atlanta. The only story I ever seen that's negative is that someone gets mugged in Atlanta park. What's going on here? I think there's just a number of factors going on. Number one, people were tired and cooped up for a number of months, if not years. After the whole COVID thing. Number two, we've had, unfortunately, a lot of racial unrest. Number three, the morale on the city of a city of Atlanta police department is probably at an all time low. I would have to refer to some of my friends in public safety and the legislature as well as professionally public safety. But morale is at near all time low. Because of pay because the district attorney is not supporting them. The mayor in the past is not supported. Is it a Soros district attorney? I do not know. So representative Carson, in terms of Alec, when crime comes up, what do the Alec people talk about? I mean, the American legislative exchange council, I know they know education taxes. What do they recommend on crime? That's an outside my area of expertise, but I think one of the things they don't want to see is this no cash bail. I was hoping you'd say that. I'm not that is just an absolute, it's just you're asking for repeat offenders. So you're just plain ask for it. And that's the biggest non starter. So what is the agenda ahead in Georgia? By the way, I just luxuriate an Alec because I can block out with people who actually do the business of legislating. Why do you come here? What do you learn about this year? Let me tell you what I'm passionate about. And when I'm passionate about or low taxes and then probably before that is school choice. I think if we have school choice, if every parent and every child is empowered to go to the school that best fits them, whether it's public or private and keep in mind, I'm going to Atlanta, if I went through 18 years of Georgia public education. But public education is not the same as it was 35 years ago and what have you. If every child is empowered to meet the educational needs that for which they need to meet their education needs, that is true. Do you see what Arizona did? It's about educational freedom is what it is. Arizona basically allowed it was at $7000 per child voucher. They went the full Monty. They just said, here is your check, go find your school. Yeah. So we have a program in Georgia a tax credit scholarship program. It's qualified education expenses, what we call it. The largest SSO is Georgia Cole is affectionately called the Georgia gold program. I had legislation to increase that from 58 million to a 100 million in 2018 last year or three months ago, four months ago. We increased it to a 120 million. And I would love to do more because the need is there. And the Republicans have the first mover advantage. Parents want out of these schools that have failed. They don't want to be politicized, they do not want to teach to this issues. They want educate that what learn to read from one to three read to learn from three to 12. And all my kids with public school. I'm a Catholic school kid, but all my kids went to public school. And I am hoping Alex just spends all tax cuts and school choice. You know, I tell you the way Donald Trump didn't get as many votes in Georgia as he could have was the suburban moms. The way we're going to win them back is that we're going to earn them back in the way we're going to do it is two things. School safety and public safety, as well as school choice. Because they might not like this and that whatever, but they will vote for their children..

"I'm Jake halpern, host of deep cover, our new season is about a lawyer who helped the mob run Chicago. We controlled the courts. We control absolutely everything. He bribed judges and even helped a hitman walk free. Until one day, when he started talking with the FBI, and promised that he could take the mob down. I've spent the past year trying to figure out why he flipped and what he was really after. From my perspective, bob was too good to be true. There has got to be something wrong with this. I wouldn't trust that guy. He looks like a little scumbag layer still bitching. He looks like what he was a rat. We're back and today we're airing episode two of a three part podcast series from KPCC and LAS studios called imperfect Paradise, home is life. Let's get back to it. There's this YouTube channel called Fullerton homeless. It's run by a woman named Catherine Reese. And as 2000 subscribers and she started it right after David glanders and pathways of hope proposed building permanent supportive housing. Right near that Kimi's coffee cup neighborhood. Kat, that's what Catherine Reese likes to be called, was posting stuff almost daily. Videos of her interviews, with people she presumes to be homeless. I'm recording you. You know people hate people going through their trash. This video looks like it's taken on a phone from the other side of a residential street. It shows a woman in sunglasses and a baseball hat in front of what looks like a condo complex. She's fishing bottles and cans out of a dumpster, and placing them in a bicycle trailer. Are you homeless? People hate you going through their trash, you know, you can go get assistance. You're homeless, and there's a lot of assistance everywhere you know that, right? Okay, the woman says, then she turns away and puts another bottle in the trailer. Kat keeps the camera focused. She's not moving. An awkward 20 seconds pass. Do you have the trash? This time the woman just ignores her. Cat keeps filming. This is why we work so hard to run you out of our city. The woman glances a cat for a second, then turns away. She picks some trash off the ground and puts it back in the dumpster. Disgusting. Calling the cops. When it comes to battles over how to address homelessness, I found that there are three types of people. There are the cats, people who just want unhoused people to go away. Maybe to jail, maybe to the desert. The idea of banishing people on the streets to some sort of desert camp actually gets brought up a lot by people in this group. On the other side, there are the yes in my backyard people. The vocal supporters. We'll hear from them in the next episode. And then there are the folks in the middle, the people who either are too busy to know much about it, or maybe they're skeptical, but open minded. This middle group is the one David needed to court, where he needed to find that lukewarm support that council member seaborne said he'd need to move the project forward. The other two camps had already made up their minds. So who were these middle of the rotors? And could David persuade them to join his side over cats? If there's one woman I figured, David needed to win over, it was Stephanie Bromley. Stephanie founded the main Facebook group for the Kimmy's coffee cup neighborhood back in 2014. It's the place where everyone posts announcements about yard sales and pictures of kittens up for adoption. It's also where people complain about crime and homelessness in the neighborhood, and discuss what the city should do about it. Stephanie spoke against David's plan at the city council meeting. But she also invited David to join the neighborhood Facebook group, so he neighbors. Not long after that first city council meeting in June 2018, I asked her to show me around her neighborhood, so I could better understand what her concerns were. We meet at adeline park around the corner from her house. Hi. Stephanie is petite. She has long brown hair, tied back at a ponytail. T-shirt, jeans. My first impression, classic soccer mom. The kind who brings oranges and cheers from the sidelines. Anyway, Atlanta park is smallish, there's a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a splash pad. Stephanie says there are usually people sleeping under the trees here, but not on the day we meet. It's the middle of July, and Stephanie says there are probably at the library where there's air conditioning. This is like the hub of where they end up sleeping and washing their clothes in the bathrooms. People find that hypodermic needles around here and you can see there's like a children's spray pool. We get in her car and drive. Ask single story homes with one car garages and square front lawns. Stephanie points out the strip of small businesses across the street from where David wants to build permanent supportive housing. There's a learning center right here, a school right here. And there's Kimmy's coffee cup. Good breakfast and lunch. Kimmy's is one of the only places to eat nearby. And it looms large in the locals idea of what they want their suburban neighborhood to be. Quiet, middle class, just a couple of small local businesses. I know all my neighbors on the street. When I first moved in, we had emergency contacts given out right away and everybody knows when somebody's going on vacation and we all kind of keep an eye on each other's house. Today happens to be trash day, so I've already had the local homeless people coming through the trash can to empty out my recycles and I just kind of expect that. So which it doesn't bother me too much as long as you're not leaving a huge mess. Unlike cat whose YouTube videos we heard earlier, Stephanie apparently doesn't call the cops on people going through her trash. It's one of the reasons why I think David might have a chance with her. And she tells me she hands out McDonald's gift cards to people asking for money at the supermarket. But to be clear, Stephanie is not okay with the idea of housing formerly unhoused people so close to her neighborhood. There's already a wintertime shelter nearby, and a church that lets people sleep in the parking lot. She feels as she put it over burdened. Stephanie also worries that the people living in David's proposed building will have drug problems. That some might have spent time in prison. She worries that the housing will attract people living on the streets in other places. And then, as she puts it, they'll become our problem. It's frightening to us. It is because we don't know what to expect. And it's not just about home values or anything like that. We're really wondering about our safety and security in, I mean, I just don't know. I don't know what to expect. In order to combat this not knowing what to expect, a city council member who supports David's project has organized a tour. It's.

"Otherwise known as California. Good morning. There is an insurrection underway. A real one in Kazakhstan and dozens of protesters have been brutally murdered by the government security forces there. And the security forces admit it. This is chess hating from the BBC less than an hour ago. Security forces in Kazakhstan say they have killed dozens of anti government rioters in an operation to restore order and the main city of almaty. They moved in after protesters tried to control the police stations in the city. 12 members of the security forces have been killed. 353 in the unrest sparked by a doubling in the cost of liquefied petroleum gas. Russia is sending in troops at the request of the Kazakh president. They will be deployed to help stabilize the country, which is a member of the collective security treaty organization along with Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia. Protests began on Sunday when the government lifted its price cap on LPG and the president is accusing or the senior leader president who is actually there's a strongman behind him whose name I can ever remember by a who's been running the country since the collapse of the Soviet Union. That's a real insurrection. That's a real massacre. Today is the adversity of January 6th. I want to make clear everyone. I've got new affiliates everywhere, so I've got to always refresh and remind people I want to welcome 9 20 a.m. and 97 99.1 FM in Palm Springs, California. I want to welcome 96.9 in Oklahoma City. 1450 in Delaware. 96.9 in Oklahoma City. I can't keep count them. We're over 450 affiliates now, and I appreciate every single one of you. Yesterday I was on 1550 in Fresno. Interviewing the supervisor up there and I forgot to mention 1550, I'm so sorry, Fresno. That's the whole of the you hear it, shall we cover the valley from 1550. But I am committed to always welcoming new affiliates because we like to spread the word. Now, the people in Palm Springs in Oklahoma City in the Delaware suburbs of Philadelphia and Palm Springs, they were also on now in Charleston, West Virginia. And I think that is remember what the number is. They're going to look that up. I believe that is, well, I'll find it for you. Here's what I think about January 6th and I said it at the time. It was an outrageous attack on the government. It was a riot. It was four a moment, an insurrection, and there was a hardcore of criminals with murder in their heart. They was a very dangerous moment for the speaker for the vice president for every member of Congress and every staffer in that building. Their lives were in peril because there were, there have been 75 people charged with assault with a deadly weapon. They're at least two handguns in the capitol among the protesters. Most of the 725 people who have been charged with some kind of a violation are a mob and they acted like a mob and got caught up in mob mentality, which we've seen over and over in this country for a long, long time. I remember watching the circuit city burn outside my studio, Casey ET in Los Angeles in the 1992 LA riots. And those folks didn't set fire to the circuit city, someone did, but they just looted it. So I want everyone to understand there's a difference between immoral and illegal and criminal. Everything that is criminal is also illegal and also immoral with the rare exception of Martin Luther King's letter from a Birmingham jail, for example. But almost always, like 99.9% of criminal acts are also illegal and immoral. Many illegal acts are not immoral. It is illegal for me to use 7 different words on the radio. And I'll be fine for it, but it's not criminal. It's an illegal violation. And it may not be a moral for me to use those words. I may be reading a script. I might be listening to a song, but it is definitely illegal under the control of the FCC. And there are things that are immoral that are neither illegal or nor criminal. And I'm a Christian. And so I can catalog those for you, but just go to the ten commandments and Jesus and you'll get it right. What happened on January 6th was immoral, illegal, and in some cases, criminal. It was not, however, the sort of conspiracy that legacy media has latched on to. In August of this year, Reuters reported that the FBI has found scant evidence that the January 6th attack on the U.S. capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result. According to four current and former law enforcement officers, I tweeted this yesterday and noted that nothing much has changed, although in August, federal officials had arrested only 570 people, and they've now arrested more than 725. The pipe bomber of the RNC and the DNC has not yet been identified in arrested and I don't know that they ever will be. We have lots of bombings in the country from the 1960s. And indeed, the 1920 Wall Street bombing has never been solved. I don't believe the Atlanta park bombing has ever been solved. I'm not certain the anthrax terrorism has ever been solved. But that was terrorism, leaving a bomb where it might kill people. What happened at the capitol, the 75 people who have been charged up to the charging statistics are confusing, a 150 people have been charged with a violent crime, but I think it might be 75 people who have been charged with two different violent crime, assaulting a police officer. Assault with a deadly weapon. There are different levels of crime there. There are a couple of counts of conspiracy around couple of knuckleheads, called each other, oath keepers or Proud Boys. I can't remember what it was. But there is no vast right wing conspiracy. And the media's attempt to portray that is actually a gender driven politics. Now, I do not believe president Trump intended the riot. I asked him about it on this show, not the most recent interview, but one interview he said, no, he didn't. And there is no evidence, and there is not yet any evidence that he intended it. He was negligent in his response. Got caught up in watching TV and was indifferent to the pleas that many of us were putting out there and some directly to him. Sean Hannity, directly asked him, please, mister president get involved. I didn't do that. I was just on Twitter saying what in the world stopped this, put out a call, tell these demonstrators who are some of whom we're going to do what they could do anyway to incite a mob riot. That's the hard core. The hard criminal court that had murder in their hearts. And what the president was urging the vice president to do was illegal, but not criminal. If Mike Pence had refused to count the electoral votes, that would have been illegal, but not criminal. And so it's important for these distinctions to be made. I also want to make it clear. Joe Biden won the election, I knew that that night. Because I've studied, I've written a book. Oh my books are back here. Most of them here. And here we are. My 1994 bestseller, if it's not close, they can't cheat. If you're watching on the channel, these channel I'm holding it up..

"Sign up for service interesting week here as we go to the end of the year and into the new year happy holidays and happy new year everybody. This year was quite. This week was quite interesting. It started off with those remember the georgia subcommittee hearings Talking about the voting fraud that took place. On december thirtieth. That was all over the news. Very good footage there and wasn't covered by the mainstream in the proper way. But it was it got some it gets I guess the red pill out there for the general public to some extent looking at some of this evidence very interesting lynnwood was in the news and still is if you follow him him on twitter. It's lin wood l. i. n. would w od follow him on twitter. It's very interesting. He was the The attorney that really went after the whole atlanta park bombing suspect that it was him and they've framed that individual forty became really well known for that now. He's more of a patriot. Doing a lot of tweets and exposing a lot of things. He went after john. Roberts this last week. That's the supreme court justice. John now he also made a strange tweet alluding to the fact that jeffrey epstein is still alive still alive. Now i think half folks author believe he's dead half believe he he's alive but either way he didn't kill himself and didn't hang himself very interesting nonetheless. A look that up that was on december thirty first now the other person he went after was mark meadows. No mark meadows is also a trump ally alleged. Good guy that had been tweeting lot doing a lot of favorable things pro trump trying to get the truth expose while he's been kind of flipped now. And if you read the tweets for mark meadows it is not good. Looks like he's on the side to try to take trump down. I am not personally sure if that's optics or not or it's just comms or communications. Mark meadows in the past was a very good guy white hat now. We do not know very strange. He's wanted to keep your eye on here with the pulse of all this stuff. Going on george popadopoulos was in the news member now recently. He was given the pardon by president trump and he was basically trapped with that. Fis us surveillance trap to take down from that was also proved to be a hoax. Not true he wrote a book.
