"AP sport time Josh Brown tree. We started college basketball where there were four top 25 matchups throughout the country Tuesday. In Manhattan, Kansas K state dropped 9th ranked Baylor more from correspondent Greg eklund. First year head coach Jerome Tang and assistant coach at Baylor for 19 years, savored Kansas state's 75 65 win over the bears. It's not the who we played or winning that, but the environment tonight and just to turn out the crowd, the energy, I mean, every coach's dream K state trailed by three at halftime but came out firing in the second half behind chianti Johnson, who scored a game high 25 points, 16 of the second half. While Kant's point guard marquise Noel chipped in with 1410 from the free throw line, but he also had ten assists and no turnovers. Elsewhere 8th ranked Texas roughed up Iowa state 72 54, wade Taylor the fourth scored 25 points as 25th ranked Texas a and M, dropped 11th ranked Tennessee 68, 63, tenth ranked marquette got by 19th ranked creighton 73 71, and in their first home game since an on campus mass shooting 8 days prior, Michigan state knocked off 17th ranked Indiana 80 to 65. On the ice Carolina took down St. Louis Tuesday, four to one, a goal in two assists from Andrei svechnikov. There's been a while for me, like I said, and whatever is called a score and gives you a little bit conference and you just tried to boss out there and knowing the creative and more chances. That's what I was doing today. The red wings dropped the capitals three one as suitor scored twice for Detroit. Well, I mean, every point mathers ever get matters and you think it's just also building something how we play how we win games and just trying to continue that. And in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks fired head coach Nate McMillan on Tuesday, less than two years after he guided the team to the Eastern Conference Finals. I'm Josh rowntree, AP sports.

"And Kyrie Irving earlier this month. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks firing head coach Nate McMillan with the team sitting one game under 500 and an 8th place in the Eastern Conference. McMillan won 99 games in his two and a half years in Atlanta. I'm Dan Schwartzman that your Bloomberg world sports update, Brian. All right Dan, thanks very much to time here about 16 minutes before the top of the hour joining us is yes here who's Bloomberg bond and FX reporter with us live here on Bloomberg daybreak, Asia. So bad day for the bond and stock markets in the U.S. some fairly heavy selling there. I want to draw a little bit of a distinction between the way the long end of the bond market and the stock market are viewing things versus the short end. So we know the short end has matched now the 52 week high at 4.72% for the two year. Yeah. But the bond market, I mean, at the long end and the stock market still seems to be wondering whether or not recession is out there in which case obviously stocks would fall a lot and yields would tumble. The ten years at three 95 and it topped out at four 24. What are the distinctions we should draw here? I think, yeah, people traditionally look at the yield curve and the yolk of having inverted for quite some time and typically an inversion of Yoko is typically foreshadow a recession. But this time, if you look at more closely, it's actually the boss of Bond and the stock market are saying the same thing. That is a soft landing scenario. Before the last couple of weeks, the market was pricing a rate cut in the second half of this year. But even that is like 50 basis points of a car. Priced in the markets. And now all these rate cuts have been priced out. Look further in 2024, there's only 50 basis points to cut. These are not recessional scenario, even a typical recession. The smallest rate cut was like 200 to a hundred basis points, which was 2020. During the pandemic. So the market is saying that the fed is eventually get inflation under control. There's this inflation going on. At some point, probably sometime next year allow the fair to step the foot off the gas or try to reduce the financial tightening, but that's not a recessional scenario. That's why the stock market didn't quite resilient for some time. You see the thing is that we've got record amounts of consumer loans and credit cards, et cetera at the moment, so the consumers being resilient. And the opposite is probably true for what's happening in China where we've got president Xi Jinping calling for more forceful measures to get people spending there. Chinese households are suffering largely from a negative wealth effect given what they've got in terms of these mortgages which are unable to finance at the levels that they had before. So they're trying to solve that issue. So they're trying to get people spending. Yes. If you're thinking about GDP is a component of the export investment and the government spending and the consumer spending. So export is probably going to be struggling because of the global economy is going to do public eventually will slow down under the financial tightening. And the fed and now the Central Bank has been doing. And investment housing is still quite struggling and the public to face continue the headwinds as a population and oversupply. So the real Shah this year, at least, is going to be recovery is going to be driven by the consumers. Consumer confidence was fairly low. Into the beginning of the Tucson 23 and it needs to the gamines who spurs and animal spirits for the consumer to spend their savings and the economy going. Do you think that the government in China might rethink not giving out vouchers, not giving out cash transfers like the U.S. government did in Hong Kong did, because that seems to be one of the reasons that Chinese consumers are not spending, they didn't have the same access to loans either that may be the company's big companies that yeah, it's a very interesting topic. The philosophy of the Chinese government is quite different from the U.S. and all the other western economy. They think that giving all these free checks through the consumer is a welfare example. So this is something that they have been fighting against. Isn't that funny? They'd be more yes. Exactly. So they always tried to think of a trickle down kind of economy. They tried to get the company going, get the government to bring all these projects. So people can't companies can highly people and the people can learn their earnings. They think it's spanning. So it's a complete for that to happen. I think a lot of economists have been arguing for giving all these vouchers and the checks to the consumers. But

"Okay, I think we spent long enough talking about this. There's no new news here. And it'll just be kind of fascinating to see what direction the next go in. This is league, altering, this will be a league altering trade whenever it does happen. Wherever Katie goes, whatever the nets get back, the fallout, the reverberations, it'll all be really fascinating. We'll cover it later. Briefly want to mention before we get into the signings, the Jade Murray was traded. To the Atlanta Hawks, it's a humongous deal. We'll be covering that at some other time. There was just a lot of activity and because of how we kind of schedule this podcast, we didn't have a rapid reaction pod for that move. So we'll cover that at another time, but I just want to acknowledge it because that's kind of I don't know if it's been overlooked already because of the activity, but that's semi seismic move right there. It definitely has a fascinating one. Yeah, fascinating fascinating trade that I have so many thoughts on that have shared with you and Rohan and our colleague Jeremy whoo and our text thread. So we'll open up about that a little later, but let's get to winners and losers now because this is where it gets fun. And literally, Chris, as we are talking, as I am talking, I get a text notification that John wall has officially signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. So there's stuff flowing in left and right. As we record, do you have a do you want to kick us off with a winner from yesterday from this morning that you saw just perusing online scrolling through Twitter? You want me to cut your should we start obvious or should we go a little bit deeper into the weeds and then workers? Let's start big. Let's start big. So one that's not obvious then. Okay. To me, to me, the one I had a team on the fence and I moved them firmly into the winter circle as of like and hour and a half ago after they made this move..

"This is a gift. I had this guy 9th on my draft board. Let's me do some other things, put clink capella in play, John Collins, potentially in play. We know those are actual things, especially with Collins that are being discussed. I am going to go with Jalen Durham. I had him read 9th overall on my board, just the productivity, you know, with that body. I think in a lot of ways, he's what trade needs. We talked about it relative to lamelo. The last pick, the lob catching ability, you know, like his body like how he initiates contact, he hit first. Also that 37 inch vertical is impressive. I really like breaking it down the film. This gets second jump. I think that's an underrated skill for a big man. He gets down and back up again. It's important for offensive rebounds, put backs, things like that. So outside lottery, I think this is a great value with the 16th pick. Jalen Durham to the Atlanta Hawks. Matt, my comparison for Jalen Dern has been in yaku of Congo..

"They didn't quite. I think they would have struggled. If they played the nets like the nets would have been able to do a lot more to isolate entree but even then like just the fact that they were doing so much like a lot of people brought up like all you know. The the knicks are doing such a bad job like there aren't even trying to go at and i thought they routinely did try and go try. It was more like the. The hawks. Ray will the scheme against it and played. Well like terming is coming. You can prepare for it. And i was kind of a thing where people were saying like. Oh that's going to happen. We'll of course you're going to try. I of course you're going to try to do that but they were. They were prepared for it and they were able to adjust. Yeah exactly So a couple more things. I want close out on one of the things that i think is is most interesting or or kind of Headed into the years is looking at at bogdanovich and kevin harder. And i'm sure this is something you thought about in and heard about quite a bit but like I don't think two players really showed out more for this team other than train. Yeah you could actually. I mean john was awesome. Clinton was also a whole team is awesome us. You believe in terms of looking on the ways bogged was like literally. I fought it. The last twenty games of the regular season was an all star. Like you just look at his. His numbers like he played an officer oliver level area. Twenty two points per game. Four boards for assists on the final twenty three games fifty fifty ninety just about nine three per game like was absolutely fantastic And then you have. Kevin better known as cave on what he did in the playoffs lake. It's just such an interesting thing to look at it. Like obviously bogged came part of the reason that he ended up atlanta's because he wanted to be a starter and was ready to be a starter and you could see last year with kevin especially in the playoffs that he looks like a guy who could be starting to and he is of course up for you know. I'm not too interested in looking at it free agency but it's worth noting like he is a free agent this coming year like it's a really interesting storyline and look at like that's again like it's good to have all this talent but also like wow how you know. I wish we could start seven guys at the same time. And that's that's kind of going back to the like embarrassment of riches on the weighing And i think that's something the hawks. I think this might be the year. Where the hawks. 'cause they've got these guys for another year. They were able to return their topic nine scores from last season. Every single core guy is back So i think they've got these guys for another year. And i think moving forward is going to be tough to keep all these guys. Obviously you're not going to keep everyone so. This is the year where. I guess if you're kind of trying to think like is there any way to consolidate any way shape or form. This is kind of a year where i think. I don't exactly know what the hawks would do with that. But this might be the year where they figure it out Because you know they're gonna. I mean they're they're playing for wins you know. They're not playing for their building for the future like a habit in years past..

"Class with andre hunter It almost felt like he wasn't talked about enough last year Even though the hawks became like a pretty big story nationally. I mean the andrea was fantastic. And his i what what did he play around thirty games last year before he got injured. I think he's kind of i. Don't wanna say missing piece but in terms of looking at a guy who really opens things up for the team especially regular season and the playoffs like you could see how much the team missed him and in could really utilize from the playoffs as well on both ends a. Where's yet healthwise. If i remember correctly he's not quite all the way back. He's not a hundred percent but he said he should be a one hundred percent. I mean of course you have to wait and see and actually get there but he said he would be one hundred percent by the time. The regular season starts so. I don't know how much we'll see him in preseason. I don't know how much we need to see of him. In preseason it might me fence just to let them all keel because they know. The hawks know what they have in de'andre hunter who was Developing into like a potential star. I think The defensive capabilities that he has and i think there are some. Maybe christians. people had about the hawks. That handy answer by a healthy d andre hunter so defense and also a guy who can create for himself get to his own shot You know and take guys won't on one end just playing with a ton of confidence shooting with a ton of confidence Andre hunter was for them last season when he was healthy. It was that that's one of the biggest like year one to year. Two improvements that i've probably seen was the andrea hunter until injuries. Kinda muddled that a little bit. of course you know. They didn't get to use it as much in the playoff. Says as they wanted you know. He played a little bit in that. Nick seat serious on he was out for the year ended up having surgery and now he's probably a few weeks away from being a hundred percent healthy he did live work yesterday. On what through practice. They did some scrimmaging and he was able to participate in other. Just gonna see how that Knee responds and then just go from there So we'll see. What kind of the progress is today but yeah tons tons of potential. And if he's healthy it's funny if he's healthy in cam radishes healthy. That really changes. The hawks defense right air cappella transform. The hawks defense already and kind of did it without those two guys a lot of times. 'cause they were hurt so much You know. Clint really praised kevin herder and the way kevin took on a ton of responsibility on defense like a ton and i don't think anyone was expecting kevin to walsum the week. He did maybe defensively but he he really impressed a lot of people with hawkeye. Now client because obviously. Clint sat back on. Guy is your center. He was he led the league in rebounding. He blocked shots at the rim. Even when he wasn't blocking he changed a lot of shots at the rim But i think for client to if you can have a healthy andrea unhealthy cam defensively. Kinda you can kinda disperse things a little bit. Defensively had a lot on his plate..

But in this past postseason. Like i know the numbers dipped but i still think he provides a lot for them flexibility. Wise this floorspace and continues to be for real. He has some some room to groza. Passer i'm not sure how that's going to look. I hope that. I mean. That's obviously i think that's the the hope for john. Collins was next year is that he really takes a leap as a decision maker. Because that is the big struggle for him right now. I do think that he provides a lot defensively as a weakside rim-protector he can get out to the perimeter. A little bit like it's better than asking clint to close out on the corner. If you have john carlos going on the corner but point being like you just have so much versatility throughout that rosser. Losing john collins hurts a lot more than keeping him. And i also don't think that this is a negative contract. It's a lot of money. But john collins very good player. Who's going to get
"atlanta hawks" Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix
"There's a shot play center. That happens. it's crazy improbable etcetera. So it's not fair to just pin that against the bucks in howard list of the teams if we also want to have the two thousand nineteen conversation i mean if the warriors healthy etcetera so it's not it's not me trying to denigrate the box it is mostly just you know i do. Think an element of me being provocative and being like let's compare them but they just is it fair to say it's maybe a more underwhelming title run than we've seen if if we're really trying to investigate the question which maybe we don't even have to just. Was you know a text amongst friends. It's now reached a podcast. So i'm sorry and i'm sorry but I mean my immediate response. And the text i believe was you meant to say two thousand twenty i but yeah comparing title winners is whatever but i get your point about how right like harden is basically injured. Twenty percent of himself kyrie's steps on his ankle. He felt like we saw the worst version and the best version of the bucks within the same playoff run. Which i doesn't happen often right. I credit them for being super resilient. And yes you know going down a winning again winning a game. Seven on the road you're teflon after that you're teflon after that meeting. Kadian game seven on the road. Like that's incredible. That was incredible share and they were very close against the atlanta hawks. New to in in game four. I believe yes game for janas has the injury and it looks like everything's over and then they come back and of course when the championship support for this podcast comes from invent together. According to studies less than thirteen percent of all inventors who hold a us patent are women black and hispanic college graduates patent at half the rate of their white counterparts. But we can fix that by increasing participation in innovation and patenting underrepresented groups. It would quadruple the number.
Kevin Love Out of Tokyo Olympics; US Basketball Now to Replace 2 Players
"That Kevin Love is withdrawing from the Olympic team. So we have Bradley, Beal and Kevin Love not playing. Who are going to be the replacements. Well, they haven't. They have apple amount of players that they can pick from from the pool. Um, I know a player that has been Campaign and behind the scenes of trying to get on this team, And that's Trey Young of the Atlanta Hawks. Uh, you know, we heard talk of Duncan Robinson with the Miami Heat the sharpshooter as well. So, uh, Colangelo has some. He has some tough decision to make. But there's there's still a bunch of players that I've talked to behind the scenes about up the upwards of 10. That would like the opportunity to have one of those two spots. So, uh, they'll they'll have a good They only have a good amount of options. Why

"Paul and the phoenix sons. And i gotta say monty williams as well like i said i don't. I don't think i i did talk about it. My last In my last my last show. I should say Talking about the nba nba awards. And if anything should justify monty williams becoming coach of the year. I know i completely understand that. The postseason has no implications on regular season awards. It's a regular season award. I get it but this should validate that monty. Williams should have won the coach of the year. I know atlanta hawks made it to the made it to the conference finals. So they were no slouches but top. Dibitetto couldn't do anything against trae young. He couldn't put up any kind of game plan to slow him down and slow down. The atlanta hawks. The seventy sixers. Which they imploded they just employed they. They hurt themselves but tom. Dibitetto couldn't put together a you know any kind of game plan to stop the atlanta hawks and he was out in the first round. Monty williams has continued to make adjustments. Kept his team. Calm like never like this is first time here in this type of situation and he played it as cool as can be and is on his way to his first nba finals. Hopefully i many for him and because he has a bright bright future and phoenix is very lucky to have them. James jones is extremely smart to bring him on. And you know build with this young team. That had just continued year after year to have underwhelming seasons with devon booker. There there was all this. Talk about devon booker. Should make his way out of phoenix. He should force his way out. He's never gonna win their that. Was all the storylines going around phoenix and devon booker. You know and even some people were doubting devon booker abilities. Because they weren't winning with him but they just needed a good coach and they needed a veteran leader that can also perform in big moments. And that is chris. Paul that is monty williams. And that is your phoenix suns man. So congratulations to them. That's going to wrap it up for this segment. Make sure you guys stick around. Because when i come back. We're going to talk about the atlanta hawks continuing to battle in these eastern conference finals. Right after this. Are you looking for the very.

"The Atlanta Hawks beat the Milwaukee Bucks at home Tuesday night. Yes, the series now tied at two apiece as the series heads to Wisconsin tomorrow. WSB Special Rights Live details of last night blowout. Yes, Scott and believe it or not the final score 1 10 to 88. Let's be real folks, not many of us thought there was going to be away. And let alone that big of a margin. As we heard late yesterday afternoon, the tray Young was not playing because of that deep bone bruise, But I think we've learned not to sleep on this team. Williams reddish hurt her and Bogdanovich all posting a big numbers like this call heard on TNT. First round is Yeah, that crowd sure did go wild and coach Nate McMillan says Everybody was on their game just started with our guards. You know, I thought bogey, you know, found his rhythm. Tonight, knocking down some shots. Kevin was really good again. Fans were also super into it Like these two who tell Channel two action news. Super Exciting, Great, great and she was hyped. Hey, we got two more games to go because they found Yeah, that's right. Game five is tomorrow night in Milwaukee, But folks are already looking past that. That's right. "Only two free throws and the crowd was getting in his head a little bit now. That look at the stat. I forgot how the crowd was such a big impact while yasser shooting free throws Everyone watching the game. The hawks were giving you a A countdown They're saying One to count up all the way to how long it took jaanus on the free throw and we all know janas was Is being called for ten second free throws and with that. I found a funny because We kinda did the same thing when i was in college playing water polo and When we are cheering on the women's water polo team We always said the shot. Clock thing Kind of the same thing as as what the atlanta hawks were doing but instead of counting up. We're counting down. That was the one key. And i thought. Hey maybe if. The atlanta hawks crowd counts from ten nine eight seven and gets onto one. That might get a honest his head. That might actually be you know very smart. Move from the from his hawks crowd but never actually did it. And john was to phase by by any means necessary but with that and After one half of play We have a tie game. Fifty six piece When you look the figel shooting field goal shooting exactly the same at forty eight point nine percent for both teams Three point shooting wise. Still big problem for this milwaukee bucks team in the first half three or four came from the field. Only twenty one percent from three point. Line and the hawks tower twenty two from the field shooting forty five percent from three point range. And then when you look at the assist eleven assists for the hawks sixteen and six for the bucks so the bucks were Throwing the ball better than this Atlanta hawks team and when you look at the rebounding The bucks were able to take up. Patrol the glass with twenty seven rebounds and Fifteen or twenty rebounds for the hawks so with that and looking at The league scores for both teams after one. Half of play creanga lead the hawks seventeen points seven to twelve from the field. Three seven for three point range after one half of play then for the bugs. Yon through sixteen points. Six of eleven from the field Then that three pointer and shot four nine from the free throw line with seven rebounds and three assists Young with three assists as well those seventeen points so going into the third quarter now. Third quarter comes around and Still no one is able to take complete control of this game. No when i say complete control this game i mean a team couldn't go up by ten points or more. That's what i mean by that and into third quarter alone trae young another big quarter with fifteen points and almost play. All twelve minutes only sat out twenty nine seconds in that third quarter When you look at it the walkie bug side of things. John is still getting things done for them. He has twelve points. Five eight from the field one or two from three point range Wanted to front of free throw line but still. Chris middleton is still being quietness game. Five five point five points in the third quarter to assist two rebounds. In my opinion he needed to be more assertive. Because in this series you saw. Whenever chris militant wasn't really doing a good job offensively he saw drew..
Philadelphia 76ers Fall to Atlanta Hawks in Game 5
"The philadelphia seventy sixers blue. It's not even. They blew a lead. They they took a big old poop. Great on ben. Franklin's head at center court and and they're now down three to an unlucky was disrespectful. There was no poop in there.
Hawks Erase 26-Point Deficit to Beat Sixers in Game 5
"Semi finals. This sixes and hawks pivotal Game five. Philadelphia is where we go here. They were high Steppin monster mashing. 26 point lead at home. 26 point lead at home. And then it vanished into thin air. It went away. Where did it go? Why didn't they win? They had all the momentum. I keep hearing momentum's all that they had a whole uncle Mo on their side. They had this big lead Uncle Mo in Brooklyn. They had the big lead, and they gave it all the way. Presto! Oh, Abracadabra, said Trae Young 39 points, but it was other guys. It was Mo Chicken Chicken Wing Williams there The honey Pepper Chicken wings. They're knocking down a bunch of big shots. Danilo Gallinari made some plays as well for the Atlanta Hawks. They stormed back all the way back from 26 point down and they beat the Sixers. They beat the Sixers. They took their lunch money 19216. And so it is Atlanta's NBA team, the Hawks who have a 3 to 2 in the Eastern Conference semis, They are now one win away from punching their ticket to the coverage files. And finally, things are lining up for Nate McMillan, the much maligned Nate McMillan. The coach in Atlanta. You look around. You know. Nate McMillan great regular season coach seems over achieved in the playoffs didn't work out well, finally met his equal in a doc Rivers here in the second round. He did beat the Knicks, but that was the next just happy to be in the playoffs. That kind of thing. But my goodness. One win away from punching their ticket. The Atlanta Hawks One man band with Trey Young and they are a win away and all those people that if if Atlanta finishes this, and it's still Points. You still see a scenario? They don't but it with Doc Rivers? Oh, my God. How do you not if you're Atlanta win this thing in in six games, but The Hawks comeback was historic. It's one of the top three comebacks in NBA postseason history.
Boston Celtics: Becky Hammon and Kara Lawson Are Ideal HC Fits
"The celtics per soccer practice facility in boston this billboard went up campaigning for becky hammon or terra lawson to be the next head coach again. Keira has worked on the celtics staff. She is just fantastic. Monico who do you think is the best bit to code the celtics. I don't necessarily have a name yet right. Although i liked the connection that care has but i have three cs. Candidates should have they've got to be able to connect with this squad. They got to be creative in the offense and the talents of these guys and they've obviously got to be able to convert in terms of everything that they're doing practice. I'm behind the scenes. Has the translate on the basketball court. Care i kind of liked that idea so this answer. I am no way shape before trying to take this coach away from the current currency. Which is nate. Mcmillan from. The atlanta hawks. Because i think the hawks likely will try to keep him. But i think what mcmillan has proven and shown what he can do with trae young. Just imagine what he could do. Because he's defensive money he has all the pieces. He has all the young talent offensively. Mcmillan would be good candidates as well as becky hammon. I think hammond that she can handle a team. I think she won the something. Many years back spurs obviously and she took control. That team did a great job. So i mean. I think there's some great candidates out there ought always chauncey billups after-sale. Who's put his time in as well. But i think make is showing that he can handle superstars and and take them to the next level. If the hawks don't take him snatching maybe it's up
"atlanta hawks" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show
"Just like the yankees decide someone to three hundred million dollars and then we'll discuss it we'll discuss it garrett the answer is either yes or no yes or no question. Hey have you gone to an an in a basketball playoff day yet. Yeah have the sixers and clippers. Both one on the same day at that happened okay. Yeah didn't happen last night. Just wondering because i'm I'm just trying to figure out if you've been able to go to this. The conundrum of having more than one team that you root for the whitsun air quotes it. It's not that it's just a nervous tech that with my portland my fingers. Whenever i talked to somebody who roots for more than one professional football team. I don't approve or more than one professional baseball team. You do not want more than one professional basketball team. I do more than one college football team. There were one hundred fifty plus d one colleges out there. Let's talk about your sixers. Forty from embiid. Let's just say you can exhale right because the idea was you're gonna lose him in the whole the whole season's over it would have been a rat you got your hands. If you're going to bali be full if you get past the hawks. Your hands are already full because the hawks are one of those plucky teams playing with house money and they got young guys who can shoot and they just don't have somebody who could keep embiid off the board. The tune of thirty nine now forty and they couldn't capella. I know that that that's how good embiid is playing. That's how well he is playing. That's how good he is and forty and thirteen last night. Ben simmons reunites if he You know stepped up more than the four three seven line and But good job man one eighteen one or two a you could breathe A lot easier right around the mid third grade around the mid third quarter. The hawks tighten things right at half right before half to make things a little bit more nerve racking for you but six sixteen give trae young just only six six made field goals sixteen shots. That's those are good numbers. You'll take that yet eleven assists in. I'd rather see him dish. It issued it. They did a good job. Defending him and So i think the takeaway is may be the sixers needed be hitting the mouth and game one. This is the best case scenario. You game when you gotta hit my mouth but you've the sixers can and exhale that embiid is not a shadow of himself that you can lean on him that he is playing. Mvp basketball when they needed it most. I mean you're down one game in the playoffs. You've lost game one at home and you're you're you're in it against the team that is believing and may be too young to not even know what they should know. Despite their you know veteran hand at the wheel at the at the Coach position in nate mcmillan and an mba is shown that he's as strong as ever. You can lean on amazon now Now you can go and go take one back from atlanta. Take back home court advantage. And i think That was a good good night for the sixers last night to feel good about the series. I'd just fill up. Sixers are gonna take this and now here's the I took the tai. Lue approach to you. Starting the show the way that you did Tj like i turned. I turn things over to you right. I turn things over to you. As the coach i i'd say you. Hey good morning to you. T j jefferson. And i let you go i let you go. I let you run. Whatever was play was in your mind. You've been at this long enough for me to trust you ride okay. True and i should have realized the minute that you went in the direction which you went which was talking about your lack of deodorant. I should've fired off time. Thought i should have reset. I should have drawn up myself. He said as the coach here and then maybe we would have a little bit more success. Starting the show. I think people night last night. the clippers. That was a fun game and really ever had it last was gonna win and then of course whoever had it last didn't but i think you get the point that it was gonna come right down to the final seconds of this game even with about minute and a half to go and look that way when pg thirteen mr three you know. It's the clippers. Were in that position. You wanna be on the road got have this shot to make it still a two possession game right. You've got to have the shot to keep it within an opportunity to get a stop and make it a one possession game. That's the last place you wanna be with two minutes to go on the road with a a full crowd full throat. All these fans there and utah dressed. I don't know how they do that. Man like you're in this section. You dressed like this remember. Remember the all the all the old game show tattle tales. They turn right to you Del tufo. I know that you guys don't remember her. Copy hosted a banana section. There was this section new world in the collar of the stars that were guessing you know whether their spouses would say the right answer. And the utah fans dressed like color coded. It was amazing. Well done and so. They're all they're dwayne. Wade's there is lovely wife gabrielle. Union is there and they all look the mailman. Mailman was there was great. You know delay was bugging me last night. You don't be bugged by an owner part owner and i'd love d. wade but he's rooting against my team. And i'm starting to get upset. So that's what it kind of helps if you're donovan mitchell where you know You light it up in the second half like you've got a stat line for a full game and you could turn to you know the guy..
Young Scores 36 Points, Hawks Finish Off Knicks in Game 5
"The Atlanta Hawks advance the second round of the NBA playoffs eliminating the New York Knicks one of three eighty nine in game five after an even first quarter the hawks to command in the second quarter taking the lead five minutes before half time and never giving it up the rest of the way Trae young Leonard lance again with thirty six points eighteen in the fourth quarter while adding nine assists as the hawks won their first playoff series in five years this feels good but I'm not satisfied and that's as far a distance and stick around and outside spot where we are I know where this team is capable of Clint capella contributed fifteen points along with fourteen rebounds Julius Randle led the Knicks with twenty three points and thirteen rebounds Tom Mariam New York
Atlanta Hawks-New York Knicks Series Preview
"Let's get to the four or five nacho. This one is interior. Going to be a lot more entertaining. Probably the one. Eight matchup gets underway. Knicks hawks sunday at seven pm eastern on live from madison square garden. The best place you could ever go to watch a basketball game. The knicks swept the season series. A couple of those games. You know nate. Mcmillan wasn't even the coach so they were earlier in the year but keys to the series before we get to our predictions for nick's hawks. Trade started on this one. Well i think. Julius randle has an opportunity and a strong chance at being the best player in this series. He was incredible against the hawks. During the year in three games he was over thirty points per game to forty point games. He had a game winning tip as well. Clearly i'm tap dancing right now. I'm trying to pull up these splits here. You know you mess around with your tabs so much during a show it just throws the was saying julius randle thirty seven points per game. Twelve rebounds six assists. He had the game winning tip as well. He dominated the hawks this season. There's no doubt about it. They just don't have a great matchup for him though. We'll talk about some things. They're gonna do a little bit later on. I'm sure but i do think randall is going to produce at the very least the question will be. Where do the knicks. Then get all of their other points. They've had some great shooting this season. They got five guys shooting better than forty percent i think. Derrick rose has a chance to have a really good series here but skeets. I was listening to your podcast with l g do set on the. I meant you were talking about guys. Who have tyler hero. Potential somebody to explode in the playoffs who also has a cool factor. Let me offer you. Rj barrett my pick for this season's tyler hero forty percent from three during the season. Hit some big shots late. He was at forty seven from three point line for the last two months of the season. He really heated up. the shot. seems real. And i don't know he seems like a bit of a cool customer after getting called out by anthony edwards gimme rj barrett to be the secondary star for the knicks in this series. Because they've got to figure out a way to get to basically one hundred points
Anthony Davis Plans Return for Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday vs Dallas Mavericks
"Will anthony davis lebron james return win win a win. Well davis has been out since as you know february fourteenth calf strain tendonitis in his right leg. James banal since march twentieth. And according Torto to Mark Cuban, he says, we're good with it. They have a game tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. Jason Nathan's and joins us Now It looks like we've got some nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to talk about. Yeah. Is always the listed. Everybody gets so mad about every year. Well, some of these. Some of these names have been here multiple times leave Carole King has had to take three cracks in it. Well, she's in is a songwriter. And so so a lot of people will argue that she her best work. Is this a songwriter and not as a performer, but And today is the 50th anniversary of tapestry. If you go back and listen Tapestry, which I did yesterday. It's fantastic. She's great, So you know, I think there's definitely an argument could be made. L L cool. J's had six nominations. He's not in. Wow. And he's nominated again. So you know, we'll someday here's the interesting I mean shit to that point. L L cool J nominated first in 2010, right? And the rule is something like you. You're nominated or you can be nominated. 25 years after your first album. Yeah. Is that right? So so? So we're now 36 years after L L Cool J's first album. That's wow, that way are make you feel another thing that that makes me feel old In terms of the nominations Foo fighters. This is their first year eligible for nominations. Foo fighters have been around for 25 years. Which is just that's absolutely crazy to me and Dave Girl who's already in as a member of nirvana. This would be the second time that he gets in, but also pretty amazing to me how quickly he formed Foo Fighters after Kurt Cobain committed suicide how quickly that was 1994, I think right and then Fu fighters are there the next year, so this huge band that he's in Nirvana? Suffers a huge loss. Kurt Cobain killed himself. Everybody's devastated. A year later, he starts another huge band. I mean, and to be in two Huge bands. I have no other word than huge. I guess that's all right right now, but to be in two bands like that of that kind of magnitude in in the rock industry, I mean is it doesn't happen. There's a lot of people who, you know, like Paul McCartney's and is in a big band with beetles. Thank you very influential band, a seminal band like the Beatles colossal on then he's then he has a solo career wings is, you know, definitely not Beatles caliber. It's not gargantuan. It's not. It's definitely not. But very few people do do the two band thing. A swell is Dave Girl has done so some of these names might be kind of deep cuts if you will feel a cootie Yes, Failing. Kuti, who is a is a Nigerian of their was a fascinating documentary on him a couple years ago, which I would recommend that you go watch he is and he's the kind of person I would argue That should absolutely be in there because not only is he a music pioneer and very, very influential So a lot of things that came later. But he is the kind of guy who went to prison for music in Nigeria, but he was so anti establishment and the government feared him so much. And his message is through music and what he did through music that they put him in prison. On Di the Good friend. He is. Yes, he did die. Jay Z and Amazing that this is the first time because I feel like Jay Z has been around long enough that he would have been nominated before. Also, this is his first eligible year. So you and he will, you know, very few Axl getting on the first year that they're eligible. Nirvana did it on I I believe that Jay Z probably will as well because he is a legend. How it works. I mean, because there's a little What is that 21 2021 artists I think on their can't. There's 16 16. Well, I around us. I rounded up to an odd number. Um, that round Is that how rounding up works? Not in my Listen, mister. I can't think of another word other than huge. I I talk on the radio for a living. How does it work? Who gets in who votes to the fans vote to the music? Explode. It's people. Yeah, it's it's music critics. It's music journalists. It's people who are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's people who work in the music industry. But over the years it's there's been a lot of People who say that the people who are voting, you know, they get it wrong all the time that these people should be in these people should not that it's favors to people. It It's not I mean, who are these people? We don't really know. So does it Doesn't matter if you get in a lot of acts would say it doesn't really matter To me. It's just an honor that's bestowed on you by, you know, a faceless group A lot of fun, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's one of the few things there to do in Cleveland, but it's wild. It is very It's a very cool afternoon. I've never been I really I would. I would love to go. It's great. I've never been. I'm a little upset that it sounds like, um The similar to the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences. They will kind of turn up their nose at those who have the most commercial success. You know, it's rare for a best picture at the Oscars, for example, to be The highest moneymaking film or even in the top 10 a lot of times sure on DATs been the knock on them. But then you have a band like Devoe was nominated who a lot of people would say, is critically acclaimed a very influential, hugely influential that they should be in and they're not in or rush. Who was a band that like that's that's a very much a Canadians. Musicians. Musicians banned, right, you know, had certainly have a lot of a huge following, but it's It's really influential among musicians, but they couldn't get in for years. And I think the way that they got in was over the past couple years they've changed and there's now a fan ballot. And if you go through a couple of votes, and you get the most votes in the fan ballot, you get in and I think that's how rush finally ended up getting in. After years of not getting in. Quick recap of what you thought the about that Britney documentary because we talked a little bit about it earlier, but I don't know about you. But the thing that that struck me Jason was the fact Transformation from when she first started to now what she when she was doing those initial interviews. She seemed like such a strong girl in control of her life and just Ah force and I feel like that was all taken away from her by all of the people who exploited her and used her and all of it. You almost hear it in her voice, because the voice back then is different. It's deeper and it's stronger. And now it's hiring. It's more childlike, which is strange. Usually people go in the opposite way. But she also seemed she seemed so poised and like you said, like in control of her empire. Just so powerful and confident, and it all went away and more. You get a sense that she was definitely more involved in maybe more of a mastermind of her over her career. Back then where? Obviously because of the conservatorship that she's not now. There's a hearing tomorrow on that. It's just a status hearing s o. I don't expect a whole lot. But it's interesting to see in the documentary the people that you thought, you know they're out there with signs saying free Britney and you thought, Well, those people seem crazy. You watch the documentary and you're like, Oh, Well, there's still kind of crazy dance. They're down there, but they have a point, at least to that. All right, Jana. "It's late third quarter at Portland. The Atlanta Hawks are in the lead 79 74. As for the late college basketball game number one, Gonzaga now lead 63 48 at ST Mary's, with about seven minutes to go, and in the final minute at USC, the Trojans trying to go to five and one in conference. Lead Washington State 82 to 74. The Arizona Wildcats did not play against number 22, Oregon, one of three top 25 games that had to be postponed back to you. All right, Thanks a lot. The savior welcome back to the Fox Sports Radio studios. You want to be part of the show, Aaron underscore Torres. I've been sticking genius one just one thing on tap in New Orleans. Tomorrow. We'll get to a lot of that. We got plenty of time for that. But How come we? I mean the collective we not so much you and I, but the collective. We'd the football fans. How come we hated Tom Brady and rooted against him with the Patriots? But why I why do I felt people jumping on the Brady bandwagon and open? He gets back to another Super Bowl? Why is he more likable? Now? After nine Super Bowls, um, with the Patriots, we hate him, But we like him now what's going on here? So I think there's a pretty easy explanation for that check, right? Well, it's Bela Chick, but it's also you know, what did we spend all of July will really April. May, June, July, August, September, October early November, talking about Well, who's gonna win the breakup? Is it Brady Is it Bella check is Bella check the genius and so people pulling for Brady. Nobody's so nobody wants fella checked in with that good. Let me ask you a question. During their run. Who do you believe? Got Mork credit for their success? Brady or Belichick during the run, Bella check. I feel got more cry. Don't know how I could weigh it out. But it just felt that he got more credit. And that's exactly how I feel. And so I think what a lot of people are realizing is this guy was forced out of New England after he took them to nine Super Bowls. All those Super Bowl wins. Bella check convinced himself that he could do it without Tom Brady. And so for him to and look, I know the deck. Is stacked in his favor in Tampa. He inherited a lot, and then he brought a lot with him. Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski Leonard for net all these guys, but you know the idea that as John Middlecoff just said last segment that he went to Tampa, no off season, No preseason and yes, it took some time, but that he's once again in this position. Arnie at 43 years old Like to me, I think this is one of the more incredible stories we've seen in a long time. If Brady wasn't in the playoffs supposed to But what a finish seven and nine they would been out of the playoffs and Bella checking the Patriots were in with Cam Newton. Would we be run for Bella? Jack? I I don't know. Because some people think that's a good story. What was going on earlier with the Patriots a cab Newton I don't think we'd be rooting for them, but I think we'd be like man is Belle check. Good man. This guy just did it especially, I mean well, I mean, if I can't imagine that they would have gotten there with Cam Newton playing the way that he did during the regular season, but I mean, if you go back, and he had said Says with Matt Cassel, which Jimmy Garoppolo a couple games, which a Kobe Percent on def. He did it with Cam, New and coming off all those injuries, you know, I think we would look at him even in a greater light than we did. I don't know yet. If I am ready, Tonto, you know to tear down everything that he did with Brady and say that it was fully because of Brady. But man like I think Brady's an incredible story, and I do find myself rooting for him. 43 years old new team No off season Like I said, I think it's an unbelievable story. All right, you want to get in Aaron on the score tourism, instinctive genius. Well, let's get off the quarterbacks for second talk about a guy who didn't have a good came whose team lost and a lot of people are pointing a finger at him talking about Aaron Donald, who had what one? Hurry. One sack one rush. Whatever it was It wasn't enough. That's for damn sure He wasn't 100%, though. And I think a lot of people are giving him a pass. Hey, got frustrated. He got a penalty that gave Green Bay. I believe a automatic. First down that lead the points. I mean, I'm not a good game for him. Let me jump in. I mean, Doesn't that speak to his greatness, though? I mean, when's the last time you heard of a defensive lineman being responsible for a team's I'm seriously like, like, name me the time. I mean, we've talked about when, last week it was talking about like a Reggie wide or something like that, because Reggie White with due respect, that man has passed away been passed away for 25 years. You know, I know it's so like like, and I think that speaks to Aaron Donald's greatness that some people are trying to pay place blame on him because he was unable to get any real pressure on Aaron Rodgers, and they ran the ball really well, but that speaks What I mean when when we When teams lose. We talk about Lamar. We talked about Russell Wilson Last week. We talked. I know you and Plank talked about Big Ben last Sunday night. Nobody talks about defensive lineman that speaks to how great Aaron Donald is. But Green Bay did have the offense go when they were able to move the ball pretty pretty easily. I thought their offensive good and rams ever really damn good defense, and they did it against the number one ranked defense out there. Yeah. You know, John Middlecoff just references being you know Aaron Rodgers Peak. Aaron Rodgers. And I agree, man, you know it took him a while to get on the same page is Matt Leflore. But you and I talked about this throughout the regular season. It's clear that it to some capacity. You know, Mike McCarthy was holding him back that you know, we talk about the Brady Bill. Check divorce. Well, Rogers, you know, is driving a Ferrari down the highway. Well, well, well, Mike McCarthy's, You know Begging for change on the street the way that divorce bro worked out, But, um, it's incredible to kind of see it. Click with Matt LeFlore. Click with that off with the wide receivers and I've just been so impressed by him all season long, even against the Rams today, they had no answers. It was unbelievable to watch. Green Bay will host their NFC championship game. First time since 2007. You want to be part of the show Aaron on this court orders have been sticking genius. One will come back. We'll wrap up today's games. By the way, the Brooklyn Nets played will tell you how that also the my Brooklyn Nets. We have a lot to get to all that's coming up next right here on Fuck Sports radio. The NFL playoffs are popping. The.

"On your 5.1 million Atlanta Hawks 114.7 million James Harden, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving will make $114.8 million just among those three players. They're making more money as three dudes, then at least five teams. In the MBA, with his trade happening involving four teams and James Harden going to the Brooklyn Nets. But you used the great term about the word insurance involving James Harden. And now his teammate. Carry Irving in Brooklyn. First thing I thought of Freddy, When When I saw this news go down about 10 hours ago, whatever was nine hours ago. Was. Yeah Insurance. James Harden is It is not just intended to be playing alongside Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. In case carry Irving. That's what this tongue in cheek last night, but a lot of people they're saying it not not in jest, but but you know, the more serious tone and that is carrier being pulls a Ricky Williams and says, You know what? I don't want to play anymore. I'm done. Right and walks away and goes enough to Ah, hut somewhere in the southeast, you know of Southeast Asia and that we're That were Ricky went like he went down like you know where he went Thailand or wherever, Right. Wherever he went, animals and insects outnumber people put it that way means welcome if you got him, but it's that Z If Kyrie Decides not to come back or you're just you're already to the point. If you're Sean marks the GM of the Nets and going I can't trust this guy to be here every night. James Harden is the most expensive insurance policy we have seen, not just in recent history, but maybe in the damn history of the league. Your point of what you just mentioned there in the salary. I mean he's making over $40 million this year. Right now. You can't trust Kyrie Irving. Absolutely. He was at a family birthday party. Right. And if that was during this personal leave of absence Now he's broken protocol and has a complete disregard for his teammates and the entire organization. If if that party was during this personal leave. You mentioned last night He was at some fund raiser with Symphony Cynthia Nixon in a zoom call 30 minutes before his teammates. Air quotes were taking the floor. And silence tonight with James Harden. Being added to his team. Hard, innit? Is the most expensive. Insurance policy that I can remember in this league, and it's an insurance policy in case Kyrie doesn't show up, and you know here's something else and I'm gonna get to that trampoline in what you have to say. But I want you here with Steve Nash, Brooklyn Nets head coach before they beat the New York Knicks tonight. What he had to say about being in the dark when it comes to Mr Sabbatical, AK Kyrie Irving. Don't get old. Steve Nash. I haven't had a a Knopper to nitty Tonto. No. Any new details about Kyrie situation? So you know, I'll just rely on another front office to learn more as we go, and they're the ones I think they're gonna do the messaging on that front. Well, what if his destiny any messages to the front office? Has Nash is Nash communicated with him at all? Apparently based on that note, has there been a text to his head coach from what I've seen and what? I've heard? Nothing. Nathan Nada, the only guy that we know that was now he's no longer in the organization was a text message to caress Libert. So Carrie Irving, Texas him. Does he say, Who's this? The new bucket deviates this castle over through that. I don't know if you don't take Kevin Durant. Maybe he did. I mean, we've only got we've heard from on the record. Then it was the night that he went M I A was from livered saying, Yeah, he shot he shot some of us a text message saying he wasn't gonna be here. Didn't you, too, kid Coach a message for the general manager or the owner? No. But teammates That's just a lack of respect, but well, we've covered that We've talked about that ad nauseum the other aspect of this whole thing, Freddie, I'm curious to get your reaction on this. Is to carry Irving drive the price up on his own team. Because of a he's not there. He's not present. He is kind of a wild card, Go back to Cleveland Days, Boston days and now in the moment right now, with his current team in the Nets How much did he drive the price up on his own squad to get a disgruntled superstar Because that's another aspect of this whole thing. I am shocked. Stunned and I want to get a standing ovation to the Houston Rockets in the general Manager Stone and Tilman Fertitta, their owner. That's the whole they got for a disgruntled player. Eight draft picks and Victor Oladipo in order to expiring contract. But you still get to watching firsthand and see if you want to sign him. Long term. Yeah, I'll answer that. Right now. He's in Fitzsimmons of Freddie Coleman of Freddie and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, the ESPN APP and Sirius XM Channel 80 anthem. I guess that's about to hang out with us. You hear things that good your hotline. I don't think there's any doubt what you just said, because the Nets acted like a desperate team. They acted like a team that the Earth was literally looted, going to go flat if they did not get James hard, and they completely went beyond the pale with three first rounders, four first round swamps and then Houston Rockets got those three players that by Victor, the depot and a first round from Milwaukee Bucks that is a huge hall. For you to get one dude in return. So there's no doubt because of Carrie Irving's absence because Carrie Irving's being on vacation that drove the price for the Brooklyn Nets to say if we can't trust this guy, we can't control. You trust this guy. We don't know when he's coming back. We cannot leave chairman to rent out there by himself without another dude next to him, And here's something else because I'm the kind of person I'd love to be an agent of chaos and agent of complete, complete, complete confusion. Wouldn't it be something after this that the Brooklyn Nets trade Akari Irving? I don't know what kind of trade market is out there. I really don't care. But wouldn't it be something for the Brooklyn Nets to say? No, James hard just got here. We have a lot more trusting that guy. Then somebody like you who did not communicate with anybody about your sabbatical. It would set square on fire even more than today. If they're broken, That's announcer. They're trading carry, Irving. Because to your point, how can you put your trust in somebody? That does not have the enough courtesy to say I'm having a personal issue. I'm taking off for personal reasons, and he hasn't contacted his head coach or anybody above the head coach with the Brooklyn Nets. That's the biggest thing and we'll look complete seriousness. We hope everything's all right with Kyrie. But if he's completely Yes, zoom fundraiser, right? I mean for some politician in Manhattan. Cynthia Nixon from from Sex and the city. But if they bring that back, aren't they did not see that they're doing a report on HBO. Max? Yeah, they're not gonna bring Samantha back Kim Control, which is, you know, push. It was wrong. But anyway, man, Yeah. All right. Let's get the moment but anyway Okay. Give me the reset him Still, after Tokyo I've got to reset my life in my life. Denise finds out about this conversation. But anyway, I mean, if he's in a good enough place To be able to do that and go to a birthday party. Hmm. Then I'm assuming everything else in his life is okay. The biggest thing to me is just not the common courtesy to even call your boss or even text your boss so Yeah, I'm fast as I mentioned earlier. I'm fascinated to see how this whole thing plays out. Either is gonna be a remarkable display of basketball on the floor or it's going to be a remarkable train wreck off the floor and not for nothing. Whatever personal reasons he's used. How believable is it based on what you just said that he was at a birthday party without a mask on for his family, and then he was at a political Zoom meeting fund raiser. Whatever that Woz and he was there 30 minutes for his team was tipping off last night. Just the Denver Nuggets. Whatever he brings to the table and every decides to come back whenever that whatever that time is going to be..
