You know how they used to have like trumpets to international trash cans. Oh, and they managed slammed in trash cans that he's a coach should be at least a month. Yeah. I would say the rest of the season. You know one. You're right now. They're going to give the guy didn't garage to die out a bigger suspension mark? My no, because I don't think that there's a union that can get involved with the other one right? No managers are offered is at Astros and neighborhood. Who is Alex Cintrón, the Astros hitting coach who instigated brawl with the A's?
"Brawl in baseball yesterday. Ramona Reynaud went right after Alex Cintron, who is the head coach for the Houston Astros, And this whole thing was bizarre to Maine. We know that there is a beef between the athletics and the Astros. Mike Fires used to pitch for the Astros was on the on the athletic still is on Lorraine. Oh, gets hit twice in the Siri's that the 2nd 1 I didn't see the first of the 2nd 1 was not intentional. But he was walking to first base is so John boy pretty much tryingto figure out what was going on. And I guess Laredo was trying to tell the picture had to throw the ball. Cintron asked, get suspended from saying his name correctly, If now I apologize, but the bench the hitting coach has to get suspended, has to get a lengthy suspension. Because he is basically egging on Lorraine. Oh, who's at first base? And it was gutless. What the hitting coach did he goes? Oh, yeah. You come over here You come over here. The guys 41 years old, if this is not A 60 70 80 year old heading coach. This is not who is the Mets pitching coach? That's your Phil Regan. This's not him or or the late. Great Don Zimmer with Pedro Martinez, where you see potentially an older person get thrown to the ground. That was not this. This a 41 year old yellow Nazareno basically, Tom come over and fight him, and he did the ultimate Gutless move off. I'm going to tell you to come fight me. But the minute when you take a step forward three for my players are going to step in front of me. And then I'm going to become Mr Hold me back, bro. Type of guy. That's the worst person in a fight. Someone that instigates the fight and then doesn't throw the punch and doesn't actually fight when someone comes charging at you because of you just being ridiculous in the dugout. That guy doesn't get popped if Joe Kelly gets it with what it was an eight game suspension. If this is it, the heading coach here for the Astros doesn't get At least eight games, then that's ridiculous. Albay have no clue how to figure this out. They'll mess it up. Did you agree with that? Then we have a heading coach, basically telling Laredo to come over and fight him. Or Laureano. Excuse me. To come over and fight him. And then he lets what 34 of his players take care of it that was weak. Yeah, it's weak and it's like extra dumb when the league is begging you not to have a bench clearing altercations, and then you instigate won as a coach, not even a player for seemingly I don't even understand the reason. And it even begins. So, yeah, you would think he's going to be in big, big trouble, too. We

"If you've got a good solid bench to sixty two, I will say a guy that I really like and I think could have a very good career and is putting together. A pretty solid year I mean he had a very good year in two thousand nineteen about a to ninety five last year. He's taught Tommy La Stella batting to seventy eight. He only has an RBI this year no home runs, but he's got a seven ninety eight. Oh PS. So again, a guy that could very well start to get things going and start to catch fire sooner rather than later they're leading batting average the guy, David? Fletcher batting three. Twenty seven two homers eight RBI's nine eighteen opiates. So they do have guys that have pop in their at you. Know besides Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, though having him out of the pitching rotation definitely hurts them I think with he's got an arm injury and who knows when he's going to be back. But again, if he's able to muster anything up and he's able to get back on the mound sooner rather than later, we could very well see them turning things around quickly and potentially finding themselves in a much better spot than they are right now they're sitting in third place in the Al West there behind the Houston Astros and the Oakland athletics but again. Very. Similar to the Cincinnati reds. I will give them much more credit those two teams. Then I will give the New York met because the angels in the reds are in third place right now in their respective divisions, there of behind one team that is under five hundred and another team that is over five hundred. So it really is just a matter of them putting together two or three games of winning ball if they can make sure that those other teams ahead of them lose you know if they can. If the brewers and the central are able to get a couple of losses against the and and the reds are able to bounce back and they're able to make some ground up on the brewers, and if the Astros continued to struggle I mean they've lost their last three, the angels could. Very well, get things turned around and possibly find themselves in that second place spot and pushing the Astros third would be I can't believe I'm saying it but kind of wild I mean especially with how good the actors have been going to the world series a couple couple times winning the world series a very good team although they did get a lot of trouble and personally, I think that they were cheating and it was obvious. and. It was very apparent and they did come back that they were cheating but still a very good team with a lot of power and a lot of potential they slipped to that third spot. It's GONNA be all L. A. Angels and they're gonNA find themselves in a really really good position because the only have to worry about athletics and they'll be in the playoffs most likely. So those are my sixteen that I think are. Disappointing and surprising. Most disappointing being the mets, the reds and the angels and the most surprising being oils, tigers and Marlins who knows this could be a totally different scenario in about two weeks. These teams could be very flipped. The mets could go on a five game winning streak and get things rolling the reds could do the same thing. The Orioles could start slipping I honestly. Think that the orioles have the best chance or the the Marlins have the best chance of slipping and I think that the reds have the best chance of turning things around if they can get guys to hit as well as Kosti has been hitting the, it's great that bowers been pitching as well as he's been pitching they've got sunny gray he's a great pitcher. To I'm a big fan of him. So they have a good shot of turning things around I will say though the Marlins I think that they're gonNA probably slip up at some point win I don't know but I don't think that this seventy one kind of start for them is going to last the entire year. So close it out here for us in our. Second segment, but don't go anywhere because coming up I'll get into my breakdown of the no west and share who I think can thrive in the division and come out on top at the end of the year and who's going to have a hard time keeping up with.

MLB Marlins Coronavirus Outbreak, Plus Dodgers v. Astros Rivalry
"Alden how you doing? I don't know what I am right now. You and a lot of folks in and around Major League, baseball because while last week the League got off to a mostly successful start minus von Soto test. The last forty eight hours have been difficult. Things have been chaotic. And you and I are talking right now on Monday afternoon and we know that eleven Miami. marlins players in two coaches have tested positive for coronavirus. I mobile postponed the MARLINS oils game as well as the Yankees. Phillies game that was slated for today because the phillies played Miami over the weekend in were potentially exposed. Alden, the League's owners meeting today to discuss the outbreak. What came out of that? Woman. I tell you the big thing that didn't come out of that. In that is that there were no serious discussions yet about the possibility of cancelling this season, which was obviously the question that came up on everybody's minds when they see sort of an outbreak like this, take place. What happened with the Marlins in Philadelphia was just a reminder of how fragile this season is. It's a reminder of the fact that Major League. Baseball is trying to stay to season in the middle of an escalating public health crisis in a country that obviously hasn't been able to corral the corona virus. Any little one thing can send this season spiraling. But the one thing Meena you kept hearing when baseball got back, and the positive cases were lower than people anticipated, and there started to be a little bit of optimism about a spots. Chances of actually making this happen for one thing you can make being reminded of was at once. The season began layers were going to start travel. They were GONNA go on the airport. Security you're going to get on planes? They were GONNA. Stay on, hold stay in hotels and the complications of actually making this work. We're going to be incredibly more difficult than it was. When those guys were just in their own home, cities were already seen that be really difficult, and it is only the first four days of the season. There's a lot that starring about this including number of tests, but especially jarring is the revelation that the marlins players after learning about the positive tests decided in a group chat apparently. To play. They let the phillies now. And then the phillies also decided to play, and apparently that was sufficient. Does that surprise you? I think what's interesting about. This isn't like the sensibilities of Clare's or sort of the tenants that players hold onto. Don't necessarily apply situations like it's what I mean by. That is that athletes always operate under this mantra of suck it up? Play through injury clay. Hart show up every day. Do the best that you can do and when you're talking about a public health crisis when you're talking about the coronavirus pandemic in a situation where this virus spreads so easily. Those sensibilities don't apply here. They've been operating under a similar mindset like this their entire lives. It's what sort of made them great in their at their sport, which is just. Suck it up and play in. Get on with it, and that's why it can't be their decision. Major League Baseball at the very least, and at most a third party is going to have to intervene in this in these matters, because if not. This is going to continue despite a web, this season is going to be compromised and even worse. The pandemic in this country is going to get even worse.

Let me watch sixty clean Games I. DON'T WANNA see the Astros. Getting clock left and right, and I do believe that Major League baseball will step in if this is a problem. I wonder if there are people out there who sort of do wanna see that. Let's put that aside for the moment. Under normal circumstances, baseball that is as it has been known for the last hundred and fifty years. These guys were going to get plunked as the season went along. But do you feel it will be different based upon forgetting the Kovic circumstances, but the sixty game schedule in which every game means so much to every team. I think that's exactly it. Greedy I think times have changed now. Will there be pitchers that want revenge. Absolutely, there's always a guy that thinks he got cheated by the Astros. Maybe gave up a couple of home runs in the last few years, and he might hit somebody, left and right I think my point is that if you start seeing guys getting hit up in during this covert pandemic when we're really trying to protect players and we're going to do everything possible to make sure this is a clean sixty games I. DON'T BELIEVE Major League baseball out being by wars to happen, but if we go back one hundred and eighteen days, tax is when the season was supposed to have begun. What would your expectation have been? Then about what the Astros could be expecting and to that degree I suppose I would ask how you think it's changed. I think they'll be, there would have been a lot more hit by pitches, because think about it the astros go on the road. They go into Texas or Seattle. One of the places in their division, the fans in those ballparks what to see the Astros get hit, and so the pitchers are getting. They're getting their emotions up. And Maybe Astros get a few hits in a row. You hear the trash cans banging stands. The pitcher.

We don't know exactly exactly what happened but put it this way. If the Astros didn't think it was to their benefit then why do they use it right. You also pointed out that uh-huh Jim Crane was asked directly about whatever communication he had with. Aj hinch and Jeff Liu now after Melby Center around this memo tightening the rules walls around sign stealing and he pretty much skirted around the question. One thing that became clear from reading report was that the communication within within the Astros Organization was poor to say the least crane did not ask Luneau more than once he said once but not more than once about various allegations that have been made about the astros through the years that have surfaced in the media. Well before our report he did not call knowing evidently and say you gotta gotTa stop this Luneau enhanced. Meanwhile did not really talk about it either. Here are some other stories. We're following at the lead. It's never the right time to step away but now is the right time for me. And it's a tough decision. I've thought about it a lot. Carolina Panthers Linebacker Luke keithly announced that he is retiring from the NFL after just eight seasons the twenty eight year old got emotional at times in the online video. I still WANNA play. But I don't think it's the right decision so a seven time pro bowler and the youngest is player ever to win the defensive player of the Year award keithly dealt with a spate of injuries and reasons seasons including three serious concussions in three years longtime and beloved Los Angeles Slash San Diego Charger Antonio Gates is also retiring. "I'm not trying to excuse. Aj hinch for his neglect in failing linked to stop what was going on but I am sure in his mind. He faced a series of complex decisions. We can say now yes. He made the wrong decisions. It's always easy to judge in hindsight but the same time it was not black and white in his mind from what I can gather can. How hard is it going to be to replace? I Jeff Luna I mean he was the architect of this team's transformation from losing hundred games to winning the world series. It's not easy to find the general manager Andrea any time of year. It's really difficult to find one in January. I'm not sure that they can go get someone from another team. I'm not sure another team would grant permission to lose a valued employee Khloe this point of the year so that's one obstacle there are some unemployed GM's out there they could go after. Perhaps they could do this. Non Traditionally I don't no but you're correct. It won't be easy and Jeff Liu now in his statement responding to the suspension and eventually being fired he kind of through the players under the the bus he literally said I am not a cheater and he said quote. The trash can banging was driven and executed by players What do you make of that kind of a statement achievement? It wasn't the best statement now. He started off by saying he apologized and took responsibility but then he said I'm not a cheater when his team had just been penalized for cheating he is in general. Maj was the general manager of that team and it seemed to a lot of people including me that that was shirking of responsibility and that was not the best way to address the situation. Luneau is a guy that is not very popular in Major League Baseball. A lot of people do not like cow. Oh aggressively he pursued his strategy analytic space strategy a strategy that led to the firings of many scouts departures of other employees. There was some celebration among some people in baseball today to see him get his come up whether that's right or wrong. That's the reality. He faces and if he ever wants to work can the game again as a GM. I imagine it's going to be difficult for him. Can you see a scenario where any players asked to be traded or maybe they use this as a reason to leave in free agency. I mean the core of the Astros lineup is locked up for a few years. George Springer is going to arbitration. I think his contract is set to expire next ear. Springer is a good example Kavita and it would be a good time for the Astros to approach him about a long term extension. It would be good. Pr Or at a time. They needed badly but he's a year away from free agency and as good as the market has been for elite players. He might have wanted to wait anyway. And now with the Astros facing this uncertainty with the team sort of tarnished and looked at differently maybe he wants to go to a new team and start over after this season so those are the kinds of decisions that they're going to face with their players Summerside Long-term Bregman out today among them but as these players reach free agency. They're going to need to decide. Do they want to return or do they want to begin fresh somewhere else. "Team you you just look at the city of Cincinnati a great fan base you know is Cold Cincinnati but they still come out to the stadium. Try to support this team. And they've been really given nothing nothing to support with Mike Ground could change ground. Get him out of there. That would be different. That's obviously not going to happen. That till is not a coach. Maya's dimension that should have been picked for for that particular job and I don't WanNa Look Joe Borough and find himself in that Kinda desolate situation. I think it's bad. I think it serves to I think it would serve to contaminate emanate him and to come from a program like Lsu with coach. Ron Near you deleted. He is beloved. He is and what happened to go from there to Cincinnati natty bad team but beyond a coach but some teams that just bad because there I personally would rather see him in Miami then Cincinnati Eddie. Let's say something like that but but but do put the question is like I think you'll make Cincinnati relevant. I think they're relevant with. Don't but that's why we're talking about sometimes dropping. The draft can be a blessing because I want to get back to a story. We discussed earlier. The Astros stunning the baseball world yesterday. Firing both manager manager. Aj hinch and GM Jeff Liu now the firings came almost immediately after MLB announced tension. Lou Now would be suspended for the entire twenty twenty season for their roles. The 2017 Astros signed stealing scandal. The Astros also were fine. Five million dollars and will lose their first and second round draft picks in twenty twenty and twenty twenty. Twenty one stephanie. Do you have a problem with. MLB's punishment for the Astros do not originally did yesterday upon learning of am about. Tom and was a bit strange. You do it at three two three o'clock in the afternoon and as a result what you WANNA do you WANNA turn around and say okay. Maybe the story adopt because the National National Championship game is that night. But as you hit the details I gotta tell you remember crane electing the fire the manager and the GM that's not MLB's appeased decision. This should have been more than a one year ban. One could particularly argue on me to sit up there and to literally have technological equipment installed. uh-huh that enables you to steal signs that premeditation banging on the can on garbage cans to indicate to a player. What pitch is about to be thrown except guess what ladies and gentlemen that means? It wasn't just a manager. It means it wasn't just a bench coach. Who by the way tried to deny right or or the general manager rather trying to deny that he knew anything about it which is utterly ridiculous? The bottom line is this goes down to the players themselves math mass. How will we look at some of these hitters now for the Houston Astros? How we look at some of the players who clearly benefit from this stuff and then you got? Alex Coeruleus a bench coach in Houston at the time. He goes to Boston the very next year and the very next year Boston wins the world series with him as a manager. What you look at all This as far as I'm concerned they both deserve to be fired. I think an argument could be made. It depends on what they find in their investigation about the red sox. If they find anything about the Red Sox tits that's emblematic of what they discovered in Houston. Alex Cora's got to go. Then you've got to look at Carlos Beltran new manager for the next. He was appointed Houston at the moment and Tom. If he's found to be involved all right. Do you got to deal with him. If he's not bound to be involved you got at least let him know that will be zero tolerance policy where he's concerned. If you're the New York mets this is catastrophic and jobs deserve to be loss from it and I believe that the Houston Astros astroid. I'm talking about the trophy. Should be taken away from their facilities. I saw all. I'm saying I'm not saying it'd be giving it a dog. Yeah but you're not. You're not a champion if competed. Give us that Dan World. We can't take the parade. They also money back. We will take this because you don't deserve. They also are big markets fourth largest market country and the value information differently than I believe so they value information differently than we're trying to figure it out what York Lci. Hey Chicago Houston is for. I think I think after Chicago. Anyway the point is the value information so much that that that they obviously value it more than ethical considerations. I mean clearly but to vacate a championship like we saw what happened. It had it. It occurred it occurred and they were aided by cheating most likely it like without the cheating who knows if they win but the fact is this is what happened in terms of the punishment initiative. I think it was stiff. I think losing your top two picks in the draft as as much better as much improvements been made it identifying count in the amateur draft. Losing in your top two picks and consecutive drafts hurts the Astros going forward. No question remember Pete. Rose was banned for life for gambling. Yup How is I. Don't think he should have been either enough light. But let me ask you a question. How is this any better? I mean it's it's issue also by the way waiting on the punishment for handed bound for the Patriots really quickly final hiring here the browns hiring Stefanski. He was the a long time coordinator for the Vikings Steven A.. How do you feel about that higher? Sunday's performance notwithstanding because their offense was incredibly predictable against San Francisco. I mean Saturday. That is the bottom line is. He's been a coordinator for awhile. I'm happy he got the opportunity. But it didn't escape me that there were five and L. Coaching openings. Now one single black. That man got the job. I don't have much to add to that Stephen as been on that. And he's absolutely right. What you but but in this case this is not a coordinator skipping following the pipeline as a grievous as the judge then the question is what's the identity entity of those in the pipeline? That's a separate issue. No question all right. We'll leave it on that note guys. Stephen you want to give a quick go. Tigers Stewart was so weak. Thanks for listening to the PODCAST. "After some of the concerns in two thousand seventeen. That had nothing to do with the astor's actually early Major League Baseball did institute new concerted guidelines about electric sign stealing right. This happened actually before the eighteenth postseason and then really was implemented for nineteen and baseball said in a statement. It released us that there were complaints from a lot of teams about a lot of other teams and they were hearing all kinds of stuff stuff. They took it upon themselves to require a few different things. One was an eight second delay in all feeds in the Ballpark so the team could not look at what was going on and live and decode immediately in that real time sense also. There were additional personnel stationed in video rooms major league baseball officials so that if teams engage agan those mlb people could see that firsthand and even dugouts in the postseason or personnel. He'll it'll be so they did take the measures and yet there is still a feeling among many in the sport this stuff goes on. And what's what's the Astros reaction been to this. They came out with a statement essentially saying that they're going to conduct an investigation in conjunction with MLB and basically basically go forward that way now. What they said was regarding the story posted by the athletic? The Astros Organization has begun investigation in cooperation. With Major League Baseball. It would not be appropriate to comment further on the matter at this time. Their General Manager Jeff Lewis spoke to reporters and said essentially that but he also said that. I don't believe there are two thousand seven world series titles should be tarnished reason. We won the world series in two thousand. Seventeen is Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman. And Joseph Berliner a lot of great layers ears and they do things the right way and we as an organization. That's what we aspire to do as well as you mentioned sign. Stealing has been a part of baseball for a a century and even electron exiled stealing while against the rules has been suspended from other teams. I didn't have an didn't have enough to report which teams teams were doing. Exactly what but this is not simply an astros issue now how far and how extensive it goes with other teams that. I don't know exactly for sure. We're but teams have accused each other. That's going to two thousand seventeen. The Yankees and red sox had the apple-watching feud is entering the digital age with the Yankees accusing using the socks of using an apple. Watch to help steal and relay their catcher hand signals. The Red Sox ultimately refined by Major League Baseball for use of of an Apple Watch in illicit way and that is the last time. A team has been penalized for this kind of conduct. The Yankees were fine to at that time but for another are Kinda thing and last year in the playoffs there was the situation with the Indians in the Astros where the astros were kind of engaging counter surveillance the reigning world series. He's champs are accused of possibly having a mole next to the Indian's dugout. The man in question was removed several times for taking pictures and texting and now the train and the Indian cried foul and it never really got anywhere but it was a big incident at the time so this has been going on. Yes and some of the Astros I don't but not there are other teams that are suspected. You've heard everything from the man in center field with the white shirt signaling somehow And and using technology to do that to a camera in Centerfield with an ipad attached with the ipad breaking down a pitchers grips uh-huh to determine whether he is tipping and then that information being conveyed all kinds of talk all kinds of suspicion. It's tough tougher. Baseball spoke prove as one person points out in the article in part because if you come forward an accuser team well maybe your own hands dirty. And that's the problem right. Can you just tell us in twenty seventeen from the people that you talk to you. How open this was at the Astros that people were talking about it or doing this openly in within the team the team open it was? I can't say for sure because I wasn't there wasn't in it but as we reported it was certainly discussed internally discussed among players among different personnel uniform. It was a tough topic because it was being employed. It's just the most being employed you know you talk to a manager and he basically said that this was an issue that permeates the whole league and that the League has done a poor job of policing this so in the course of this investigation. And I'm not asking you to speculate on what the League will do but what could come out of this investigation. I'm not sure we know that the red sox were find in two thousand seventeen into the apple. Watch so I imagine if they found the Astros committed wrongdoing that baseball could issue a fine to them. I don't know that it would go any further than that that but we don't know necessarily all the details here. How far up the chain? It went as far as new Federa so yet. Tough to speculate because you just don't know where the responsibility lies what they're going to find out anything if anything will even come of this but we have seen a fine levied in the case of the Red Sox and we'll just have to see and monitor what happens here all right. "Can get that break and boggling we know that that's how you how uh the astros pickers ernie pitchers want to attack that lineup so he can get that breaking ball going down in the ground he could have some success yeah i was surprised that it any point and i know we wants to get the fares will in with why they went after the judgment affairs will end his own i guess he missed because i i only i would never show of affairs will zoned you saw it happens where they do the threerun home i mean he has had such trouble with the kerb i would even show him the fares will yeah yeah i think that that last night with harassed i just didn't think that that that will have real good feel for the break ball and he kind of guy he holden to have him to throw him fashionable because he had missed with a breaking ball already he was behind in the couch and that's what makes that's what makes judge so dangerous you know yeah you might strike him out that will times in robot you know you're going to hunt that one mistake and we can put the going on you can do some real dan you know the yankees and held him down for three games the astros played great the first two games but they're both to one games they've only at fifteen hits in the three games korea l tubay girl the only guys will hit at all you surprised the yankees have been as successful as they've been against the astro lineup uh i'm a little bit surprised that the astros haven't had a little bit more production now i mean you know as well as i do that when you get into the post season offense goes down you definitely not going to be teams into submission in october uh but they it looks like they've been a little ansett you know they're not striking out but they are still swing out a bizarre almost seven strike out last night four four yankee pitching by you know just doing a just being a little bit more and you've seen a more offbalance swing and so that with that tells me is they're being just a little too aggressive mike the yankees a going with the romani today to try and see if he can kinda coke's somebody gave through to get a degree through.

"I it's going to be big on into the weekend i think he's skin good pitches to here i mean it's this is a tough league in in in sometimes it's not going to be easy to just throw out the hits when you when you want them or when you need them but it is it is key you can always get a good pitch to hit if you stay within yourself and stay indiscipline so you know we we've state you know we we've done this quite a bit for the for the season and obviously it was big tonight to be able to to put what was eight or nine it bouts in a row which is which is what i'm more impressed with the the hit the hits it come with hitters reporters this horn position are huge obviously but the quality of about is what we talk about we can't always control the result they got good defenders they've they make pitches there you don't always you don't always execute to exactly what you want but when you could put a plus sign by the by the about in in the guy did his job of of put a really good play to paris together more times and not we're gonna we're gonna like the law bestcase scenario oh for the astros this weekend is that the guy the guy that was a part of the line up last night dark fisher continues this lodge streak of his you wanna have too many good players you do want to have that france's marches has a start like last night that helps you to more and more in a moment but you have so many quality hitters this year you really have to ask yourself this question do you want fisher to become an everyday part of the houston astros or when josh read it comes back from his concussion the move right do you move fisher back down to the miners because you're set up in the way where fisher gives you options and yes you have a very talented farm system but if you want to get someone big at the trade deadline you have to give up big pieces derek fisher opening things up like this not going to act like all of a sudden as the next big thing for the houston astros.
