It is Frankie boy, And this is best truck radio. Joining me today is attorney calling Cowls and You know, the question is could ending the war on drugs be the answer to the addiction and overdose epidemic? We're having one of the contributors to Oprah's network. Downed her son dead from an overdose. He was experimenting and found a drug dealer online online. And said he'd like to try not even a harsh drug. Nothing that would kill him and the drug was brought to the house. Delivered to the House. He went up into his room and took the drug. And He was unresponsive and died. 16 years old. 16 years old, A student and calling, you know as an attorney as a mother. This is not a rare story. We're hearing These kinds of stories. Throughout the country, accidental overdoses. You know, certain all deaths have have increased enormously high over the years, and it's It's a response to having drugs illegal because when we saw this back in prohibition with alcohol, where we ended up people dying from from moonshine, because when you make something illegal, the black market steps in and then there is no regulation. There's no consistency in quantity or quality on so it Z. It's a problem because we have prohibition of drugs. If we had legalized drugs, we wouldn't have tainted drugs on the street. And unfortunately even pain patients now are or if you end up with surgery, because there's this paranoia about opioids and legitimately so absolutely absolutely rating. Yeah. I mean, the meals, raiding offices, and so they're not writing right? And there's been that fine line we're doctors have over used there. Powers with giving out these prescriptions, and the pharmaceutical industry has gotten a kick back forward, And unfortunately that has been the system for a very long time. But what I'm concerned about it, the of the number of young people that are being arrested for silly, frivolous offenses with cannabis, which in my opinion Um, you know, in the 43 states right now, there is medical cannabis legalization 11, 12 states Now I can't remember the exact number of may even be 13 now have recreational cannabis. Legal and so we're seeing it. Lives are being destroyed and we're also looking at a A a system where people that have been in jail For decades for having cannabis possession less than an ounce less than announcing because they didn't have the money to have bail. They didn't have the right attorneys. They get lost in the system. And and what? What a shame. What a waste of ah of a life And what a shame. And we should all be aware of that because it does affect everyone of us men with business owners. If you are running a business and you want to deposit your cash, you may be arrested. Not because you did anything because but because they assume you're a drug dealer. On people can read the police Kenbrell down doors now with no Fourth Amendment rights because they smelled something when when you criminalize possessing something rather than criminalizing a bad act. We have a problem because it's so subjective. So you end up with this cascade effect of victim innocents, victims filling our jails and prisons in it. It impacts all of us. So As you write about in your book, and the book is the war on us. This book is you say, can help employers, employees, parents and taxpayers. Absolutely. It's important to know to really understand the myths. It's important to understand what we conducive help. Every one of us can take steps that can help not only individuals, but but the policy decisions as well. But there's there's reasons for every employer to understand. All right. What's going on, but also to protect themselves as candidates. Rules change. It's really important to know what you can ask what you what the liability is of doing. Random drug tests on breaching Americans with Disabilities Act regulations. So there's there's a lot that employers need to understand. And the beauty of it is in doing the right thing and offering opportunity and being compassionate, using common sense. We can also help this Horrendous problem that's out there and give opportunity Tiuna visuals who who truly have been victims of the war on drugs. I also think that we all need to be aware of how emotionally depressed many people have been for the past several months. There were not comfortable to a lot of Yes, yes. It makes it makes it that much more important for us to have some compassion and on in and offer opportunity. And we're not talking about everything that's happening. We're not allowing. And quite honestly, we're hearing stories from psychologist and teachers and Principals and superintendents that this lack of being in in the physical environment of the school is going to have more harmful effects down the road and Yeah, I think we're going to see Cascade effect that we can't even imagine Right now. That's what yes, That's what they're saying that the cascading effects exactly the effects of this of this hybrid model. Is just not working, and there's gotta be a way. To get kids back into schools to connect, and I know that the suicide rates are higher than they've ever been in this country. Drug use is at the highest it's ever been. People that were sober, have gone back to drinking again. People that were off drugs have gone back to using again. And I mean we're in. Ah, we've got a big mess on our hands. Besides massive coded And the economy. One other issue that I wrote the book was that people do need hope and threw the book. I assessed. What's been tried in different jurisdictions throughout the world. And what science is teaching us. We know That we can treat these issues. We're just not doing it because we're hanging on to old traditions that were created before we had this knowledge, so there are answers. The book is basically a road map to the solution to so many of these horrendous problems. Absolutely absolutely Such tremendous information. And I know you work so hard on this topic on educating US war on us How the war on drugs. And myths about addiction have created a war on all of us, and you want to protect families. You say you want to protect families from the potential harm of drugs. But if our Children do develop a drug problem, you know we want them to get the care. We want them to get the treatment. We want them to be able to get the resource is and we don't want them to be treated as criminals, and I and I think that that's the most powerful part of the story. And also Also, um there's just so much more to the story. Thank you so much calling calls. Thank you so much. Give us the best website, please at www dot war on us dot com. Lots of information there. Lot of complimentary things. Take a look. We'll be right back. Frankie Boyars Stay tuned is.

I appreciate you joining us again and before we go any further, I do want to make sure you know that I need you to help me and tell everyone you know about this show. We're trying to grow our audience. Get more people in here on the care of their boomers, Jin Nexus. I don't care what they are. They need to learn about Bitcoin and find out more about it. I also want to make sure you know about a conference that I put on every year called bit block boom. Good a bit. Blocked boom dot com and check out the conference. I do every August. We're celebrating a third year this year in Dallas. If you want to learn about Bitcoin that block boom is the place for you. Let's get Corey back on here and find out some more stuff about Bitcoin. Thanks against for sticking with us, Cory, I do have a question for you. What do you see? Two quests. A two part question first. What kind of changes the you for See happening. In the near term because of Bitcoin. Well, that's it's a little bit easier for me to forecast. I think the long term that was question too, so we can just move right to that. Yeah, that's that's fine. I'll start with the short term. I mean, I think that what I what I personally expect to happen is, you know a pretty significant Bitcoin bull run over the next 18 months or so, Um, I don't think that the mean as they say, of the cycles of Bitcoin these four year cycles that sort of Coincide with having of the new supply every four years. So we just had a having in May, which you've probably covered on a previous shower. People can just Google it and look up to that point, having basically the new daily supply of Bitcoin the flow of new Bitcoin into the supply. Was cut in half in May, and typically as this happened in the previous two cycles that supply shock just having less Bitcoin for sale. Uh, Starts to kick off. You know, maybe it's causal. Or maybe it's just correlated. Or maybe just people believe it, and it just becomes so because it was sort of willet in tow in action, but it's caused major bull market runs the past two times and, you know, I'm very much believe that it will hold again this cycle and probably at least one more cycle College 2024 2025. It'll probably happen again. Why didn't the other happenings which for those who may not have been on our previous shows every four years, we explain it real quick. That every four years the amount of newly created Bitcoin drops in half. For the first four years. There's 50 Bitcoin on de every 10 minutes, and it dropped 25 12.5, and now we're six and a quarter, so it's dropped quite a bit so, But in previous Years after the happening, there's been a period of maybe sideways transactions and make coin for a while, maybe even dropping a little. And then we've had a big increase, which we've seen every time. But on the previous Increases our bull markets We have not had Bitcoin being bought by industry or commercial entities like it is now it's all been by the retail customer like you and I. Now we have customers retail customers like the cash APP, grayscale capital. People that are buying Bitcoin that accompanies investing in Bitcoin fidelity handling it. How do you think that could affect the bull market this time and we're starting in a higher price point. You were up in near 10,000 this time. You know? So So how do you think the purchases by these commercial companies in the fact that where we're at this time could affect the Bitcoin Bull run this time. Yeah. I mean, you're talking about institutional infrastructure, essentially, and there was some of that the last time around on then the bull market really spurred a lot of companies to get their act together and to start creating more infrastructure in anticipation of Future price appreciation and future adoption by by the glow of essentially, you know, we're somewhere between 0.1% and 1% penetration of people that actually owns in Bitcoin have see the low estimates that I think you're probably a little bit, you know, Closer to real is being you know the high single digits to low double digit millions and then You know, maybe there's like 70 million people at the high end that my own even just the tiniest little bit of Bitcoin. On On those companies like us likes one Bitcoin on. Do you know the traditional exchanges that have been around for a while the practices and the coin bases in the German ized the big three U. S exchanges on they've all made investments in infrastructure and marketing and team and custody and all these different areas business to be able to support You know, just so much.

"So much for being here. But I, Alex, So if you could give us an overview of your business journey that led you to moment feed. Sure, you know, By the time I got to really my early fifties, I was really looking for an opportunity to build a company that would be the best place That our employees that ever worked and that we would be the best partner any of our clients ever had early on in my career. I'd had that experience and another CEO kind of Jim character was the one who took us on that journey, and I realized that I'd had enough scar tissue enough learning to be that for a company, so that was what I look for when I found moment feed So your entrepreneurial journey is very interesting because you show up at the company once it's been started, but it's still in that started phase. So you've got the task of helping its scale and grow. So tell me a little bit about what you do. Yeah. So a couple things that you really have to go Look for something that you believe is going to be a true opportunity. You have to understand whether or not it's going to grow into the kind of company that you wanna lead on Gwen of the things that you always have to look for is you can pivot a product you can pivot a market. You never pivot a company's culture. So you have to make sure that the culture itself is something that you wanna be a part of and something that you can really harness a leverage as you move forward. So those are some of the starting points. So what kind of culture are you looking for? What kind of culture In other words thrives? Yeah. You know, for for me. The first thing about the culture is that success has to be about something besides yourself. I almost always look for companies where the core of success is around the clients and enabling them to be successful around the partners and making sure they could be successful. I find that when you were oriented company around somebody else's success. What happens is that everybody at the company begins to feel and operate that way. And that's really the beginnings, part of a culture winning on Lee for yourself as a company. Makes everybody in the company when on Lee for themselves, and you don't even have the fabric. The former culture Yeah, because when you get enough scarcity mindset, then you're not thinking about the greater good and ultimately how to grow the company. You're just thinking about your own individual winds. Exactly. So let's talk about what it means to you to be an entrepreneur. Because you mentioned that you've been entrepreneur your entire life. Look, the first thing is is comfortable, not only comfortable but challenged and seek out chaos. The essence of being an entrepreneur is really managing and dealing with that chaos. You know, I love everybody wants to be a visionary, and most people think that a visionary is applauded. For the most part, visionaries are shunned. Because nobody understands what they're really talking about. If they truly are a visionary, they're not rewarded for that. Until the world changes in the way that they anticipated. It would change. So the first thing you need to do is you need to be able to focus Reasonably long term and really, really believe in yourself. The second is you've got to be able to deal with the chaos and pivot and change it all times. The third thing is, is that as your company grows It's going to go through cycles. In fact, whatever it is that helped you succeed in one cycle is probably exactly what will cause you to fail in the next cycle. And so everybody has to be used to the fact that if they're doing a great job this year And they're doing their job the same way a year from now, They're probably no longer doing a good job. So those are some of the things that I think. Here's what you need to know about the brand new Spider Man universe. I'm Andy Solomon Marvel Spider Man puts players and an original story action packed with adventure for the famous Web slinger players take on the role of an experience Spider man who has spent eight years behind the mask, defeating new threats as they emerge PlayStations Assad Kissel bash has more despite amount is more experienced and yet still vulnerable. And we do that through Edward Jones and we are in a Mutual fund because we've been fighting about to do the 5 29 planes for Everything that We were told by every Jones that if our Children into that getting all the college paid for them, maybe get tax very bad. They're using that money. Um, So we did a mutual fund that I wanted we've got. We started off three years ago. And lad about $10,000 is where we're at. Now. We have money taking directly out of our bank account every month, so it We're gonna end up getting where we need to be like our Children are in the 3rd and 1st grade. We want to make sure that we're where we need to be when college comes around, So is it in a, um Are your Children's names on the account? No, my wife and I's names are on the okay, So it's just an investment account. Basically, Yeah, Yeah, um No, I don't think you need to change anything. Um not. Certainly not now, obviously. When your oldest in Alma, stay 10 years, you know, 10 years from now, um, them they would make sense to take 50% of that. And yet You know, a little bit more conservative, a little bit more preservation off principal minded In that and that would make some sense to do that. But right now, I would just keep contributing. Don't get concerned. When when markets drop, you know, Make sure you're consistent with that contribution. I think you'll be fine. Okay. Awfully well. I made toured with my person and every Jones. Everything was definitely responsible. And he was. He's a Christian, and he made sure that anything that he put it in, you know, was not Drugs, alcohol and pornography or anything like that. So and I took your advice and make sure that I asked him and that was done. So I want to thank you for that. You're making sure that that's a heads up situation, So I I appreciate that very good. All right, Adam. Thank you. I sure appreciate the call. And thanks for listening, And I hope you'll keep listening. God bless Yes. Alright, Mama. Let me go to you. Ashley in Virginia. Hey, Ashley. Hey, Good morning, Dan. Thank you for taking my call. Sure. Um, I have a quick question about investing my husband self employed. He's a contractor, and we don't have any really investments for retirement. That kind of thing. I have a small inheritance coming through about $30,000, and I was Hoping to invest the portion of that maybe in an IRA. I've played around on the Timothy website. Just familiarize myself with it on go. I just want your advice on You know? Whether I should do one for me one for him, You know, both of us together so we can invest in those along the way and that'll help with taxes and also what the difference is between a self employment, irony and a regular IRA or what you recommend. We do. So the self employment IRA from a tax and, uh, you know, rules and regulations standpoint is no different. Then a traditional IRA. Okay, Same thing. The difference is you can put Ah lot more money into it. So as the self employed person. You may be in a situation where you know you have a really good year. One year you're saying where, you know I'd love to be a bit. Oh, take some of this money out. But I don't wanna be taxed on it or whatever you can. You can make that contribution. You know, you could make a contribution to your sap. Still, I mean, you probably have anywhere from 25 to $45,000. You know, Leeway there. You could have to check for wherever it is, and I'll give you some idea. What it is, but because it's it's driven by your income and all those kinds of things, but s O. That's the advantage you don't have to, but you still put $500 a year in it. It's no different. You know you don't have to do anything, but it just allows you to put a lot more in it as a self employed person. Okay. And then that would be packed. Deferred. I guess so. It would take $500,000 a year and we want to put more in there too. That help relieve E eight are tax burden for that year. No well, yes, because it's deductible. So So whatever you put in, is like a traditional IRA in that that money is that that deductible So if you put $5000 in you, you take that right off the top of your income. Okay, so and there's a max on the traditional IRA. What we can each contribute every year, Right? Is it like 7500 or something? If you're over 50 That's what it is. Okay. But if you're under 50, it's yes. Six. It's 65. If you're under fifth year, so there is a there's a maximum you can put it. Okay? Okay. All right. Good. Thanks actually glad your car God blessed by you could Um, let me go to Cathy in Georgia head, Cathy. Hey, Dan. How you doing? I'm doing well, Thank you Write so good to talk to you. I've got a question about my retirement. 69. You're working part time that my retirement it would to your craft. And not question is should I leave it there, or should I roll it over to a private eye? All right. So some of your money might be in Tia and some of it might be in crest. What and one I think it's the T I a side where you can't move it. Okay, I'm just with them, and I think my money in the portion that I can do Okay, So it's in the crash. So yes, I would. I would move it out of there. Unless unless You are have other monies that are invested. You can hold this money as your you know, kind of cash position. They have a stable value fund. That is very good. And the stable value fund is paying, really, you know, exceptionally High interest rate. That's not it's not that it's a lot. It's just that it's a lot compared to today, so you're not going to get that kind of interest rate on your cash. If you move it over to your brokerage account, So for you know, it's so it depends on what else you have and what you're doing. So if you said I have this account here, this counter here this down here and I'm trying to follow your asset allocation model. I would say that's great. Follow the asset allocation model with those accounts. And use. This may be as your cash position on not have any cash position, and there's accounts so that you can take advantage of that.

I mean, when you're sitting on the beach so peaceful and you sort of forget there's a whole other world under there. Just full of all kinds of life way saw the most beautiful corals. I remember thinking they're waving at us because they moved with the ocean. And then there were all these amazing fish. They kind of reminded me of tropical birds. This is business rock stars. His fire, inform and connecting a community of entrepreneurs. This is business rock stars. I'm panel Brian. Welcome to the Joes. Now, let's check in with Alex swirly for good reason. He's always got somebody great, Alex. We're here to inspire informing connected community of entrepreneurs. I'm Alex Orly. And this is business rock stars. I'm joined by Paul Long. He's a CEO of raw green organics. And I'm so excited to chat with you. Thanks for being here. Thanks for having me. Yes. Did you always want to be an entrepreneur? I did I You know, my dad was an entrepreneur. And I grew up, you know, working for him on and have always envisioned, you know? Doing what I'm doing. Doesn't see me here. A lot of Latins entrepreneurs had entrepreneur parents. There must be something about growing up in it. What did you learn from growing up in it? I think it's probably because you see the possibility of being able to run your own business. So I think you know, the parents have a big influence on what you envision. And what do you think you can do? So you know if your parents are in their employ for 20 years by Estern company that maybe that's what you see as being impossible. But if you see your parents being able to start businesses that maybe that's kind of something, it's always back. My like, Hey, I could do it because the sad reality is a lot of businesses fail. But if you feel like, Hey, I've seen people defeat the as I can to. That's probably really encouraging for sure, I think In the course of any startup or business on you encounter So many challenges on Deacon really Quit AA. At least 100 different points along the way, but it's I think it's it's the ones that are able to kind of preserve ear because they know that they happened and work that they they kind of threw it, So it's something that keeps you going. I think the passionate about what you're doing. You really believe in what you're building with the product or service. And I think if you really believe that this is something that can be useful in society, but they're just people. I think they don't let the negative stuff. So you worked for family. Sounds like you had a positive experience. Would you ever hire family or hire a friend? How do you feel about that? Yeah, I think so. I think age. Some of your best referrals are from family and friends. I have work in previous companies with friends, and so Yeah, I think it's I think it does help when you know how the other person operates. Yeah, And if you like how they say A lot of people have the rule of no family and friend, work relationships, But that's great that you have had success with it. Yeah, I think so. I think you know, knowing what their strengths are and what your shrink their weaknesses. You can kind of play off of that. And I think knowing how people react versus how they really think That's important, too. So I think a lot of sometimes friends family can be better in certain situations. So what is your strength and weakness as a CEO? Strange, I would say, maybe being able Tio training recruits the vast people to work with me. And I have a lot of weaknesses here. There's there's you know, I think strength is definitely having people that Do things better than you do. And I, You know, I kind of recognized my weaknesses is when the witnesses are maybe not being as detail oriented on some tasks. On DH. Maybe not. Always looking at everything that's out there all the options, So that's why you gotta have people around. You could hire detail or in two people. Yes, and people that can actually really flush it out and give you the The best solution. This is business rock stars. We aim to inspire, inform and connect a community of entrepreneurs. I'm Alex swirly joined by Paul along, He's the CEO of raw green organics. And what would you say is a typical day like in your life. Pretty easy. Get up. Um Check. My emails have breakfast with my family. And then my wife and daughter go to school, and then I Head into the office. Usually there are just multiple Ah lot of meetings and phone calls and conference calls. That usually meeting with each of the departments in the units and kind of going through What task you need to be done. How many hours? Did you say that you work every day. Probably 12 12 hours a day. That's a long day. It's a long day. It's probably I would say 88 is usually my my workday. So does that feel like a water doesn't feel like you have work. Life balance. My wife would say no, I feel like it's It's just right through there. Still getting some sleep in there at least. Yeah, yourself a little bit. I do. Yes, I do. Give my slave tried to get at least six hours. That's good. So how would you describe your leadership style was probably more hands off on guy kind of trust. People to do their job and then you know, kind of check back with them on see where they are with that, And so I would say, I kind of rely very heavily that they will be able to kind of do what, what they need to do and you know, and that's that's comes backto having really good people around you. Totally. And you shared with me that you have a talent for hiring talent. So what is the key? Tio hiring such good talent? I think you have to be there to sell your vision. Tio. Those key hires that you're bringing in. I think you have to be passionate and you have to know what you're talking about. So you know they everyone can see through when someone is not authentic. And doesn't believe in the mission. So you really you know how that foundation do you go more off of the resume or what they say in the interview, or maybe something else. For maybe all of it. I would say our experience has been more of what they say. I think we obviously there's you know, the it gets screened. The residents get screen but beyond that, yeah, I think What they say is probably very important that the passion or what is it that you're looking for? And what they say..
