And what we came to realize in the early days is that most if not all of the technology netted in built for food industry was built for stuff. That comes in and hack. Edge has a bar code as opposed to things like broccoli than in is salmon fillets rabbis rash perishable food the result of that in turn our that aired these massive inefficiencies that manifest in billions and billions of pounds of food waste and our planet and billions and billions of dollars lost profit. What we wanted to do is build applications for the most influential in critical decisions workflows. That exists in that system so like i mentioned we started off with store level ordering for grocery put over time. We'll build more and more of these applications that intern and in some power the entire freshman industry and then there will be some pieces that might be more divided ties or areas where we feel like there won't be as big an impact for us today. And then he goes. Cases will act more as a black for or in contentiously serbo systems up with data that we generate to be assistant record so one way of thinking about it over time that will evolve into this ecosystem player that provides applications also powers. So how do they actually make that decision today. And then we had to figure out how to inject technology into it in a way that would be maximally. Effective and that started with a bunch of discovery eventually evolved into lean model building and building the backyard and an mvp of the ai and then eventually also there is a human interface component. Where we had to raise these. Ai driven order recommendations but then make sure that they were actually being ordered by the grocer and back. then we didn't have the permission to integration with our initial partner so we actually created a google sheet in which the recommendations shell up and then the store manager would take those orders and plug them into their system so.

Which i so enjoy and i started my journey of this life way before instagram and before that was a thing and everyone had their own side hustle so it was kinda lonely in the early days but cover tour actually stemmed from my earlier relationship so i in turn to w magazine for alex white creative director which was seen opportunity where i got to learn everything and helpers campaigns from selene to oscar to loretta lynch and now i would just absolute like lifetime once in a lifetime opportunity and that really set me up to then start my own clothing brand at the ripe old age of twenty two where i ended up selling to barneys emas and nordstrom's lane crawford in eighty stores worldwide without knowing anything when i was doing but it was really it was really that that opportunity with my clothing brand that led me to a tour because i was heavy in production and there's a lot of dollars go into production and inventory and there's a lot of logistics and i was twenty five years old and i was sitting at branch with a friend of mine staff and we were just thinking about how what we can do together. Something a passion project and we we love with tommy. John was doing at the time he was traveling the world and he was canadian and he was shooting was happening outside the shows and so we thought anyone can kind of get. What's outside the show. Let's get woods like inside the home and let's just oppose people's style against their environment and see what happens and so really was honestly a passion project i was like. Oh there's no overhead in websites. Yeah ed we laugh. I was obsessed though like i remember. And i think that has resonated in the last couple of years with branding and brand just being more open and more inclusive and more crowd sourced. And i think that was like obvious to me at the time and i think that i also learned how to be nimble was able to start his agency with my co-founder stacey because we knew content through and through we would go into someone's house and be creating like a victorian story and a static story vintage creating on these stories with items in under three hours plus the with them plus the getting it all going in shooting at like it was so quick and so fast and relationship building so i think that sort of ability to connect with the With the subject of the time has allowed me to understand how to connect with the brand. I think rans are people rans. Our conversation brands are a feeling emotion. So just helped. Prep me to be able to work with brands on the other side and help them understand kind of like how to see things during aditorial lens and so many of those people that you frankly. Our brands now themselves is kind of how it's evolved. Which is interesting on that note. Let's talk a little bit about your brand city as so. Tell us about how that got started. Because i actually owned a piece of your original line. And i wore it to death. Aaron it was so comfy so i'm curious to learn a bit more about like how it all evolved city a- so in an internet international we've been building brands under mechi with founders and with heritage brands for six years now which is crazy and the whole time. I've always kind of been like. I want to do this for myself. I wanna build one of these brands for us. And i think that's always been in our mind in our raider but it was about finding the right time and i think with covert. It was like the right. Time kicked our asses so much changed. My grandmother passed in two days before. Like the lockdown really happened and just all got me thinking and it. Was this thing that i had been planning and plotting for the last fourteen years of my career almost and also knew that it would be a great way for me to channel my grief and it was like the only thing that i could do almost so consumer facing brand began and it was incredible. We brought back this kaftan. This style of dress. I had in my old days on my clothing line and everybody just loves it. It's so versatile anyone can wear it so multigenerational. I wore the kaftan to birth. May two children and my grandmother were the captain on her last day. Here to the point where like we buried her with one because it was just such a familial moment for us to connect through fashion and beauty and lifestyle like she was holocaust survivor immigrant country. And really the reason why. I'm in this space like i got everything i know from her. And i think curly in your about my tastes level. my i that's comes from. It's the gut instinct. It's the intuition believing that like fire in your belly. That knows what's right and knows what's cool and so city is a full on lifestyle brand and that's her name right. I am yeah yeah. I love that story. Do you ever think you'll get into beauty city a- good question so yes i think the way i view the quote unquote words fashion brand right now having lived through the days where i had a full-on ready to wear brand. "David Miliband, Plus, the Republican Party has some work to do in overcoming division. But it's not the first time Professor Matt Dalek of George. What Ashington University is here to explain what happened last time and the view from a company caught in the middle of short selling. I talk with Exxon CEO Rick Smith. But first, some say it's too big. Some say it's just right. What would President Biden's $1.9 Trillion stimulus mean for the economy? The pen warden budget model has crunched the numbers and every Amber Covic, its director of computational dynamics, talk to me about how the proposal would impact GDP growth. So the main effect is a boost to the economy. As we would expect with that amount of money going through something is gonna go up. Um, So what we are projecting from the plan as written is that we're going to get a slight boost to GDP over baseline growth. So about 0.6. Percent of GDP on then we're going to see a slight decline, followed by decades of slightly lower GDP, and the reason for that is that we're going to get this giant debt overhang. On by the Cause you know what the debt overhang does is it sucks. Resource is from the economy and it's going to sit there sucking those down until we get rid of the debt. So to some extent, we're borrowing growth from the future. That's one way to think about it. You know, I know the way that you could think about. It is really that you're redirecting current. Economic output, and instead of investing in hard assets and infrastructure of things like that, we are transferring it towards consumption. So more like you're living on a credit card. Maybe it's another way to think about it. Give us a sense about the extent to which this would really stimulate the economy. You also have an analysis about money going to savings versus money going and directly into the economy and spending. So when we look at the data that's coming out of the government in terms of what's going on in the sector basis. What we see is that in 2020, there was there was an actual recession for those that don't know. And there was a sharp decline but by the 3rd and 4th quarter The data is telling us that, for most sectors in terms of both consumption and production were pretty much back more or less to pre recession levels. Now there's been a lot of reallocation, you know, obviously streaming services or up. Um, you know, and people have bought actually Maura durable goods because people aren't home, so there's been some reallocation. You know, there's some price changes. Some prices are going up because of the excess demand. It's going on there. Uh, one area that we really continue to hurt are the in person services. So that means restaurants, hospitality. Even some health care. Um So the concern there is that what are you going to do with extra money? If you can't spend it in that in that sector, it's not going to be spent on restaurants because people aren't going out the policy and the behaviors right now we're keeping that sector closed so until Cove it goes away. Extra stimulus money is hitting sectors that are already at capacity. And this you know this other second, these other sectors which can't rise, so as a result, what we're projecting is that people's It's called marginal propensity to consume is about that three quarters out of every dollar that they get from this free money is going to savings while three quarters of every dollar that's that's higher than I realized. Yeah, I'm rounding a little bit, but that's about where we are now. That by itself may not necessarily be bad, because savings if it's transformed into investment eyes good for longer term growth in the economy. What we're also seeing in the data is that As a result of the stimulus that we saw in 2020. We didn't see a any sort of real pickup in hard investment investment in fixed assets is pretty much where it was pre recession. So the worry, I think is that this savings is not going into productive uses and sloshing around in the economy with perhaps some sort of effects and one of the ramifications for all this is jobs. I mean, you could say we bounced back and the 3rd 4th quarter, but the jobs didn't all come back. We're still at least 10 million short of where we were before the pandemic. And you need some that spending, don't you to have the jobs? The service jobs in particular you mentioned come back. Well, that's right. But it comes back to the argument I was making before is that if The jobs are in sectors that can't come back how you're going to get those jobs, you know? Are we some somehow changing people that used to work as waiters in a restaurant are returning them into coders and machinists. I mean, maybe eventually but certainly not in any sort of real move in the near term and talk about some of the provisions in the Biden proposal specifically to help some of those less fortunate. Which you call the Biden covert relief plan. That's the direct payments the child tax credit in the earned income tax credit. What did you conclude about those? So those are hitting the bottom end of the income distribution and those we find to be We didn't analyze them separately. But we know that those are gonna be helpful on we know also that even the payments that are coming in towards the bottom are for the most part helpful. Looking at the data again, in terms of who is being hurt by the recession is primarily people in the lower income towards the lower end of the income distribution. Part of our analysis, which is up on our website, however, finds that the provision that is to give the $1400 checks to everyone in the country. From our analysis. You have people that are in the top 1995% of income, who, if they get the stimulus payment making about $5100. Thought were Spanish that are not for example, and I started going to college and learning about that learning about old medicine learning about all different not just my try all the tribes of the Americas and I really was a great and still is a great experience. Well and the the you know the interesting thing is that they say that the tone was set early in the messages when the same gentleman texted I'm locked in my hotel room with an ice cold grey goose and I think we can assume he's not talking about a bird because I'll probably fire off a few inappropriate emails before I call it a night yeah no kidding and the person he was is a texting with said something about had he accomplished anything in the flight simulator quote or what is the normal chaos there in another one message was I'd ask for a job in sales just get paid to drink with customers and lie about how awesome our airplanes are like oh my gosh it's just not the stuff that you want to see in the front page of the newspaper no and it may just be horsing around I mean some of it not not all of it but it sure looks bad now apparently C. O. Dennis Muilenburg is meeting with directors and senior electives has we record this basically in San Antonio for a regularly scheduled board meeting in that's going to occur over the course of a couple of days here and I I don't know what we'll learn from that or what result from that we'll see if anything but that's but that's coming up but Muhlenberg is also scheduled to appear before Congress the House transportation infrastructure Berkshire Committee on October thirtieth so that's coming up in and there's also a Senate hearing that may take place on the twenty ninth or it may take place after the House hearing on the thirtieth this is all coming from anonymous sources people didn't want to commit to this because it's not really can firmed but this is what the reports are so that'll be another very interesting event you can bet the Congress people will have some very pointed questions for me Lemberg at those those hearings well I think the seven three seven Max story is the gift that just keeps on giving I mean if you're funny comedians would be using this every night on the news it's not funny it's really Kinda Sad I think points to a lot of you know kind of breakdowns at many points in the process certainly within Boeing and perhaps to some extent within the the FAA end. I really am optimistic that we're all going to be better for this I think the people said Oh well people want to fly the seven three seven Max well of course they will this'll be the safest plane in the sky time people get through this recertification process so you could make an argument that that's the only plan you should fly Sir certification is completely because presumably those planes will never ever crash again because they've been going over with a fine tooth comb so I think this is a a sad chapter in a long story with Boeing and hopefully they'll move on quickly to a new happier at chapter and continue with a long term success always had I hope so and of course the longer it goes on in the morning expensive gets there's a Bloomberg article that says that these delays and getting this plane into service of cost Boeing least get this eight point four billion dollars so I obviously as time goes on the cost keeps going up

Italian banks bear brunt of inconclusive election
"Loan growth you've got rising bond yields you've had a steep ning yield curve particularly if you look at the burned that's very good for for bank margins in particular and then you've set to which has been as furring under a huge white of a regulation over the last ten years and people are thinking is this coming to an end we've seen basel three we've seen so v and see to that's a huge amount of regulation to fro these companies are they coming out if a side do they have surplus capital which may be returned to the shareholders in one form or another what about the nonperforming loans issue i mean they're seen as key risks really greece ireland under not to mention it lean into harvard persistent problems in this area well it's something that we kontic no bodies certainly situation that is much better than that that we saw a couple of years ago so the proportion of nonperforming loans to other loans as certainly fallen but it is something that management still need to pay attention to it still restricts the amount of capital you can land but overall it is a much smaller issue than it was okay what about italian banks in particular i'm thinking of the italian election there have been concerns around you know we could government in place what will that mean for its lease voice in europe as europe is still trying to deal wave mp els again how significant risk other nonperforming loans in italy love people talk about how wealthy italy is you know on a pastoral level individual level versus the banks or nothing and it just go back to the italian elections first for that does outta and nothing laurent fence ashington the market you put that with tariffs that does mean that people have a heightened sense of risk because you have uncertainty about who will form the coalition and what the some of the policies are going to pay and obviously one of those policies will be the treatment of banks and amongst sat how how the and national bodies will deal with and pales what they dimond in terms of actions the other thing that tends to affect banks a time like this is the the brisk in the market the.
