"The other Arthur in the rooms, the one who's got to scratch the check. Do we want to do it? Do we want to blow this thing up? As he said to, again, you have to look at it all together. Thomas de Mitchell, former general manager there, pointed out that they were in a cap, strong situation you heard him say, Arthur Smith is the first time they were able to spend in free agency. They decided that's the way to go. And they are in the boat with Washington with Tennessee, if the jets don't land Rogers with the jets, who else do you want to throw in that mix? The colts. If they don't go get Lamar or try to go get Lamar or land him and go in another direction and someone else lands Lamar and wins championships or gets to the Super Bowl or gets the conference championship games and puts themselves on a certain pedestal of winners in the league and they're not, they will hear about it. But Arthur Smith believes that this is the way to go, Desmond Ritter, Tara honey, keep backing up the rest of the free agency class, the rest of their draft class coming and what they put together. That's the way they're going. And that's what came out of that meeting. But they did talk about them. 8 four four two O four rich number to dial here on the rich eyes and show a fun pop culture stroll thanks to TJ Jefferson and Major League Baseball's opening day, you've got a lineup of top pop culture baseball players based on position? "Land on Ritter and he is your guy and you plan him to be the guy and you hope he's the guy that you hand the Lombardi trophy to one day, but was that ever was Lamar ever put forth in a meeting by you guys in Atlanta? Richard, I mean, every thing that becomes available around the league, if it can improve your roster, we discuss. That's at every position. Whether that's the 5th quarter, the backup Connor on punt. We're always going to look to add and that's at every position. So those discussions happen all day. Those are standard operating procedures. Imagine most teams do the same thing. And I understand some players get more tender than the others, but absolutely. You've got to know what's going on. You get to see the trends and see what's available. So those are everyday conversations. And asking you, are you ever going to go on the bus? I thought you had Taylor. Wow. Well, I mean, if you don't, you have to see you go on the bus. Coach, if you don't mind me comparing myself to Lamar Jackson, there's a principle. Of the matter. And I told Taylor years ago, I told Taylor years ago and will, if I'm not mistaken, you've tire kicked yourself. If there's no motor on the bus, I can't go on it. So at this point in time, I have to stand on principle. But I'm sure you understand that as well. I do. I understand that. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Arthur Smith here on the rich eisen show. The couple minutes I have left, you signed one of my favorite people on the planet who I've gotten to meet Calais Campbell to a one year deal. What do you think he brings to your equation? Coach? Yeah, we're fired up about this guy that he's been a paying to go against for a long time. Since I've been coaching in the league and certainly when I was in Tennessee, he was in Jacksonville. He was a major problem. Of course, he went to Baltimore kinds of big games against him there. We're excited, you know, he's a guy that's played a long time. And in a very effective and he can play multiple spots, and as we built depth in our D line, he gives us a lot of experience, certainly we can play in multiple spots, get him out of defensive end, like a lot of times on early downs. I mean, he's a pain for people who go against and as we're done depth in there, obviously with Grady added David on yamata, brought Lorenzo quarterback, we have some young players who are really excited about it and the more guys the more death we have will certainly help us. Well, before I let you go, coach, I appreciate the time here. One last thing I couldn't help but notice at the league annual meeting, you were in the back row of the coach's photo and I'll just I'll just come out and say it. You look miserable. I mean, you just got this look on your face, like you just don't want to be there. What's going through your mind is you're taking this photograph coach. You're not smiling. I don't know what it is. It's a squint, which is a sun situation. What do you got? I got in trouble with my family and one of my sisters got married to weekends ago. I'm not a big, you know, you got to go on there. They do it real quick. I mean, it's faster than probably wedding photos, but it's just not one of my favorite things. It kind of thing and just go ahead and take the picture. Let me move on to the next thing. What do you mean, what else do you want to do? I mean, you're with your peers. I mean, Tom wants to your left. I mean, did you choose that spot? Did they tell you to stand there? I mean, what goes on? I'm fascinated by this. So there was taxi three rows and then the last second to try to get everybody to move a couple of people went down. The first row, I think, Kyle, Shannon and I were the last two back in that third row. But it happened real quick. McDaniels. Was boxing you out. McDaniels has given you shoulder. You can't have that. That's the way I look at it. I mean, I don't mean to read too much anyway. Come on. No, it's times when I'm not going to pay attention to that. Especially when you see a pretty good height, I'm not really paying attention to what's going on around me, right? Okay. Just try to get into that picture and move on. I don't know. On behalf of everybody and maybe your family feels the same way. Just tell your face to smile next time. Just do that. I'll charge it up and maybe I'll wear a tuxedo. Coach. If you rock the tux, I know that I know I know it's your dream to go viral. So that would go viral. I'll see if I can make that happen for you. Okay, coach, thanks for the time. Always appreciate it. Be well. Thanks again. That's Arthur Smith, everybody. Head coach of the falcons right here on the rich eisen show. I would have thrown the bus and my grill. How about that? That came out of nowhere. These boys with them. Well, he tried to try to get real content. That was a league office issue. I think that was the most open Arthur's been since you've been interviewing them. They talked about Lamar. Like, yeah, we did. It came down to it. The other Arthur in the rooms, the one who's got to scratch the check. Do we want to do it? Do we want to blow this thing up? As he said

"Up and that put him on a radar screen and he wound up somebody either pounded the table for in previous spots or used a head coach the falcons wound up drafting. Does that happen? Certainly helped. I think a lot of times it's the guys at the back end of the draft or the post draft that you really can pick up some things about these guys that are probably going to be in the top. Let's call it 75. I mean, take it discussed over and over whether it's through the media, those getting a lot of attention as it should. But we both know the majority of rosters are going to come from those later rounds and the guys that you can't skip those steps and so I think more towards the back end guys guys that there's not a much information that aren't being talked about as much as I've gone to places and found that something else that's really helped us drop those guys in later or maybe get somebody post draft. Arthur Smith head coach in the Atlanta Falcons joining me here a month before the draft, just a few days after the NFL annual meeting broke up in Arizona. So walk me through if you don't mind the thought process behind getting Taylor heinecke in your fold in under contract, his role. Did you see it? Obviously excited about Desmond Ritter, but you need to have that position and it's got to be the right player and we've got a lot of respect for Taylor. Certainly we've gone against in the last two years and it provides good leadership, a guy that can go on there and certainly the numbers call it's the second play of the game or whatever, whatever is going on and you can win your football games and he'll be great for that room and that matters, especially when you're planning to start a young quarterback. That's so important. Who's in that backup role? And Desmond Ritter, what does excite you? You said we're excited about him. Can you put a few meat on that bones for me? They want a lot of gains in college and help, looks like Cincinnati really changed the whole culture of that program and certainly think that experience you start that many games coming in helps. We certainly saw it early on as we threw everything we could at them. And he was impressive. And we thought he was ready to take over that time of the season and I thought he did a nice job, but cool and collected under pressure. At the end of the day, you've got to be able to operate on critical downs, third down, fourth down, two minute situation. And I thought he'd done that pretty well. And certainly there's a lot of things we'll all continue to improve, but we got a lot of faith in him. And so what did he do you think glean from his time starting towards the end of last season? What do you think is valuable that you've seen on film or you've seen him just grow from your position as head coach and that you think translates to this year? I'm coming. Well, there's a lot of things. There's not the unknown and he's been doing a season. He understands what it takes to prepare. I mean, that's usually what gets guys. It's a day after day. Week one week two and the early part of the season that excitement may wear off. It's like a lot of industries that are consistent. And I understand what it really takes. Not just physically mentally, that approach. And he's very mature in the way he prepares. I think that helps certainly go into this year. Now we got to finish the season at the starter going into the off season to prepare, understanding the calendar, what's asked of him. Like I said, the way he operated was very impressive for a rookie. And now we're expecting them to take the next step. Well, one of the many reasons why I'm asking that is obviously when the narrative that I'm sure you hear talked about for your team wanting to start Desmond Ritter this year and somebody of Lamar Jackson's caliber has a quasi open market, right? I mean, there's an offer sheet that he can be signed to, that many folks wondering, why don't you in Atlanta just pivot to him, but clearly there's a lot that you've already invested in detachment Ritter with time played in reps going in. Was there ever at any point in time a conversation consideration of saying maybe we just check out Lamar kick atar and what he wants for an offer sheet. The police have become so much more transactional. I mean, I mean, you look around and they look at the people are willing to make trades and they happen quick now and I think anytime any player it's our job to understand the markets that are going on who's available who's not do they fit and it's not just there's a lot of things that go into it. What those transactions where you're willing to spend in the salary cap and they're great debates, certainly make sure it shows more interesting and that's great for the league, but at the end of the day, you've got to do what you think is best for your team and the way you're building and how it fits in that puzzle. And like I said, there's a lot of great players. They have become available. It seems now more than ever. I mean, look at the deals that are done a year ago and then you've got a quarterback that's on a huge deal a year ago. That's available now. That was unheard of 20 years ago. Not to date your rich. I mean, what was your first year covering the league was about 50 years ago? It's 20. It's coming up on 20. No, no, no. I would have done NFL total access about Joe Namath's championship year, but I was too busy soiling my diaper at the time coach. I was too busy. I didn't know if you covered John united either. Well, I don't go that far back. I apologize. I appreciate that. I appreciate that. I think I'm a fine wine. But I think you understand the question and you must have, you understand it, but that's our job is to understand everything that's going on around the league. It's a debt charge never fully set in stone. I mean, things happen when you have injuries during the season. These trades happen then. I mean, you see, we've had success finding guys at the wave of wire. I mean, it's every day it's always a work in progress. And so you're aware of everything that's going on. You know, we don't have our heads buried in the sand, but ultimately we got to make the decision that's best for our team right now. And what we've done in Brady and our, as we prepare for the trap, we feel really good about where we're at. We'll be built. It's been the first year we've been able to spend in three agency and we're really excited about those guys we've signed so far. And we'll continue to look to improve any way we can. So basically, you looked at the landscape. And I imagine you didn't know if Lamar could be signed to an officer shoot or nobody did not use specifically. Until early March and I imagine you'd already gone down the road with free agents and things of that nature. So I guess the question is, was it at all discussed?

"That this guy has lost a step because they did make the playoffs. With Mac and his first year. Yeah, how'd that go? They got blown out. Okay. But welcome to the rest of us. You got to build. You got to find the kid and build and draft around and the drafting around hasn't done as well yet either. I'm not saying he's completely Sterling, but he is still in a long time. So I hand the floor to you. Do you think he's lost a step? I don't think you could say otherwise. It's been four years without a playoff win. And I just think Bill is so stubborn. He would rather try and win with someone so mediocre and just to prove that it wasn't all Tom Brady than to try to bring in Lamar Jackson who's got an MVP on the shelf and play this dynamic explosive new age brand of football. And you say it's bob craft has to cut the check. Bill makes all the decisions. For everything football wise. In the building. Don't you think for good reason? I do think for good reason. Okay. But I also think that hasn't gone great. Wait, wait, man. And everyone's like, oh, well, you brought in Cam Newton and they couldn't do it there. Kim Newton was a shell of his former self for not for three weeks and that was a COVID year. I think you could throw that one out. I for one game. You could throw that one out. Okay. Because you don't want to also be the guy after the guy. Look, when Brady left, that's why I say to you, welcome to the rest of us, because you now don't know. Well, I don't really like the way you put that, but that's okay. It's totally fine. What do you mean? Go ahead. What do you mean you didn't like the way I put it? Because get rid of cam, you're talking about, or you're welcome to the rest of us. We're the only team with 6. The correct. So there's no rest of us. We're not like you. Well, you are now. We're not. Oh, so you're saying that the lack of results the last two years is now unacceptable because the patients are different for a team like New England than they are. I would agree with the jets. I would absolutely agree with that. We're not like the rest of them. We're not right the rest of the week. There is a certain standard now that's been built up over the last 20 plus years. But you understand the manner in which I'm saying the phrase that. Well, you're trolling, which is totally fine. No, I'm not. I'm not. I promise you I'm not. Because you know I have nothing but respect for seriously. You know how I feel about the country. No, but that is true. But the reason why I say welcome to the rest of us is you had an unbelievable, incredible run. Oh, I understand. That is so rare. And part of the reason why is because you had an all time great coach who got hooked up with an all time great quarterback who grew. Into an absolute all time greatest, like without dispute all time greatest. And then that undisputedly all time greatest quarterback leaves the scene, which now leaves you in the position of the following. Who's next? Leaves you in the position of the following questioning your all time great coaches and the abilities. Did Tom Landry get fired? He did. It happens. Was Tom Landry one of the greatest coaches of all time. At that moment, perhaps the greatest. It happens. Pretty much everybody gets tapped on the shoulder. It happens. Yes. And it's totally fine. I don't hate Bill. It's not anything like that. I'm just saying, if you look at the last four years, it's different. He brings in guys who clearly are incapable of doing the jobs that he's pegging them to do. That was your decision. Yes. And so now do you think he wanted to get rid of those guys? Probably not. Do you think Kraft told them WTF, bro? WTO WTF, and that's why BOB showed up. 1000% agree with that. Absolutely. I would agree with that. I don't think bob is happy one bit and he shouldn't be. And fans shouldn't just say, well, we had a great run. That was cool. Let's suck for the next 20 years. Why? Why do we have to suck? You don't suck. Again, I'm an expert on sucking. The Pats are four for this division. By the way, if that happens, it does place a heck of a lot more pressure on it. And so when I say I would agree with that. So when I say the dolphins perform as well as I think they might as well. Exactly. And so when I say Bill is coaching for his job this year and you think I'm crazy, I'm not. I still think you're crazy because I believe getting rid of talking about it now. And of course, you know, the local media in Boston is insane, but they're talking about it too. It's real. I just think that if that happens, then you've got another welcome to the rest of us situation. Do we? At the coaching position, I hope jerod Mayo is the guy since he's going to be the one in writing. But that's another one. Honestly, because it does not who does not have the skill set of this man. This man is the greatest for a reason. Now, can he be stubborn and more set in his ways and could we find that's the one part about this that Lamar would rectify even though I'm sure bill would think there's no rectifying necessary. But coming in and just saying, oh, you think I'm set in my ways? Well, $200 million offer sheet to Lamar Jackson. Let's go. What better way to energize the fan base when Bill says, hey, why do fans have a reason to be optimistic? And he says, when the last 25 years, I mean, I'm sure. Well, he doesn't give you answers. And I understand why that frustrates you too. But he says not only does he not give me answers, he says something like that. Okay, Bill, great. That was awesome. What are we doing now? That should inspire optimism in the fan base. So let me ask you this question. There isn't much. Let me ask you this question to put the button on it so we can get to Arthur Smith on time and he can make me tap dancing work. You would want him to sign an offer sheet. Now understand, understand what this would mean, understand what it would mean in terms of first round draft choices and what it would mean about a cap that they'd have to reconfigure in their smart, that's one thing that you know the Patriots are is smart. And so do you want me to answer that now or do you want me to answer that in four weeks? What do you mean after they've gone ahead and signed somebody? I would like to see what the first round of the draft looks like. Well, you can't do that. I think Lamar is going to be waiting until then, don't you?

And I can't wait to chat with him. He knows, he didn't even accuse me of saying, you know, you're trying to get something out of me. Get your clicks. He accused me being a click baiter. You know? This is funny. He's got, you can tell he's got a really good sense of humor, but he's doesn't want to show it. You got to drill down on it. You got to really dig deep. He makes me work. It's in there. I don't like to work. Well, you know, he makes me work. Kevin Hart's an hour three. I know that's not worked for me. You know? Arthur Smith makes me work. And so I'm going to have to drill down. I mean, how does this team not even talk about Lamar Jackson? Because Lamar, the day that he got his franchise tag applied, the falcons answered a request from Peter schrager of good morning football NFL network Fox Sports. Are you interested in there like we're not going to be interested in him? And, you know, I would think they'd kick a tire on it, certainly since they were willing to give 230 million or they weren't. They're willing to give a remarkable amount of guaranteed dollars to deshaun Watson the year before. And then when Watson signed for 230 guaranteed $1 million to. Go to Cleveland, they just let it walk and totally reconfigured their strategy that now revolves Desmond Ritter in a whole bunch of free agents that they've signed. I mean, they just signed Calais Campbell to a one year deal, which is what you do when you think you need that veteran presence to get everybody rowing in the same direction and maybe be one of those key pieces that you see on a defensive line that can help you win a division, then you never know what's going to happen from there on out. You win a division, you get a home playoff game and off you go. So wide open. You know, Jesse Bates, that's the big one, is $64 million deal for a safety. 23 million in year one, when you see that, it's kind of like, okay, that takes up some cap space. They resigned a bunch of their own. Cliff lunch from Chris lindstrom on the offensive line and Caleb mcgarry on the offensive line. They hit that. They get Taylor heinecke in, and then those are the signs that you see. They're not calling them our Jackson. He's not getting an offer sheet from the Atlanta Falcons. Pre draft or post draft. That ship is sailed. Why? I'll do my best to get that answer from him. And also get an answer from him.

"So if you do this for a couple years and at the age of 40 or 41, you want to return, you could still write your ticket to any team you want, but he said, yeah, but it won't be this team. Like, I don't want to coach the Jaguars. I don't want to coach the browns. I want to coach the rams and staffords his guy. Like if Stafford wasn't there, totally different story. Then again, if Stanford wasn't there, they probably don't win the Super Bowl and these offers aren't coming in. Yeah. You said he had offers from multiple networks. I thought it was just Amazon. I don't know if there was actually a formal offer. I know there were conversations, at least informally, that were being put toward Sean's guys, not towards him proactively like, hey, raising my flag who wants to hear it. But I know that there were at least phone calls from multiple places saying what's his interest level. I don't know. If he would have left, I mean, it would have been strictly a money thing, right? Because or is he one of these guys that's trying to say he's burnt out already a little bit? No, not burning. It would be more like so young. I have interests that go beyond just this. I feel like I want to do it all. And that's what it would be. He worked for ESPN a couple super bowls ago with like Susie Colbert and I want to say like Steve Young and Lewis Riddick and it was like on a Sunday, I didn't watch. It was like a Sunday of Super Bowl Sunday. And you know, he called me afterwards. He was like, can you critique what I did? I didn't watch him. And he's like, can you get a clip of him? I don't know where the clip exists. And then we did our flying coach podcast last year, and after we would do two hour interview with Kyle Shanahan or Arthur Smith, he would want me in Simmons to be like giving him pointers. So he constantly is just one of these guys that's always going and wants to be better. If he was to go into broadcasting, he would want to be the best broadcaster to ever live and want to emulate John Madden and be better. You know, like it's not enough to just, all right, I got it. Collins works great. Romo does his thing. He'd want like, so he'd have to be all in, and I don't think he was ready to put football behind him. It would have been, I would have been blown away if he left.

I want to be respectful because appreciative. I never worked with them. But i am very thankful for what he brought his team in the past and all the players when guys come back i think it does mean something whether dion sanders office. Backer todd mcclure like guys that have been here you know. You always wanna be appreciative and respectful of those before you so but from head coach in. We're going now. You've got to focus on the present and so that's probably the best way. I can answer that because there are some people that you know. The people crave trauma always joke with this own. Allowed is also sadly rtd. And when i go to bed at night. She's a on bravo like the bachelor. Whatever people crave that they want they want. There'd be more to the story that like you're gonna sit with andy cohen. A tell all my dad and there's really not that wouldn't really what went all in also said i'll continue to say got a ton. Julio questions it feels. Like every other questions about jared goff still for you in in in your market i mean. When is it time to finally say. Hey we're done talking about jared or we're done talking about julio. When does it get abrasive like that. Yeah i think there's a. Here's what i would say. Peter you know. I think the thing that resonates with both of these guys. Because they've had so much success people wanna talk about them and so they're looking for stories that you know there's they've got to write a story. They got a job to do. And i respect that the one thing you know for me personally make a couple of comments about being really excited about stafford. And that doesn't mean that's an indictment on all the good things jared. Did you know that. That's what's a little bit difficult is you. Can't make compliment about one guy without being being perceived or viewed as a slight to the other and that's the hard thing and you know but that's stuff that you have to deal with. I love the you know actually saw you had shared it with me. Peter when arthur set a couple of weeks ago and you guys correct me if i'm not exactly accurate with it but if you're if you're a leader in you don't like problems than leadership probably isn't for you something along those lines and that's the i i can't remember. I don't know exactly what it was. You said but. I said i love it. What did you say you don't like problems leadership jerseys. We know it's something you've been doing. What Should the Atlanta Falcons Do With the 4th Pick?
"Talk about another quarterback order player Who people these days. Certainly no. and that's matt ryan about that for a transition Terrific quarterback for very long time. 2016 was his best year was the mvp of the league with the falcons and took that team all the way to the super bowl and then from that point forward it has been sued of a steady decline for the team despite making the postseason in two thousand seventeen. They've won just eighteen games over the last three years and with that regression the falcons might hit the reset button in this draft with ryan being almost thirty six. They have a new head coach. And arthur smith they have the fourth pick. Overall general manager is teri faulk no and he said quote. We wanna stack good quarterbacks. Its prime time to do it. When you have a player like matt ryan because when you can get in the white quarterback you don't have that pressure play them right away so it opens up so many possibilities and we have to make sure we're evaluating those positions and we feel good about what we where we are there a lot of different ways to take that it certainly what i would say if among other things i wanted someone to come and try and trade for my fourth pick in this draft so teddy. I'm giving it to you directly here if you were the falcons right now. Are you looking to bring in players to help matt ryan try and win a championship again or are you looking to draft his eventual replacement. Said like i said about the smokescreen season. There you go right there you make everyone think that you're okay with draft a quarterback in developing under matt ryan. But you gotta take advantage of the quarterback desperation which is in this draft and everyone one maybe sneak up if they're guy falls to four and go ahead and get him because i think they should build and they need to usually head coaches come in. And they'll want to stack pile not quarterbacks but draft picks in terms of building a foundation model for their team so i would say definitely take advantage of the fourth overall pick trade down. Try to see if you can get some building.

"His job, Dramatic, Grundy. It's D A's top story. He goes. It's your cold Open. Those two voices were to the guys hired that was Urban Meyer and Arthur Smith Smith again in Atlanta. Here's what we've learned about the NFL head coaching cycle. Is that right now? It is a value You have never been a head coach before. You look at all of the names that I just cited, and none of them have previous NFL head coaching experience, and only urban Meyer has significant head coaching experience. What you see is a theme here building and that is NFL G. M's and NFL owners are looking for The young, new fresh voice and Urban Meyer might be the biggest name, and he might not be young, but he absolutely is a fresh voice in the NFL. Here's what happened. The NFL. GM said the NFL owners have seen young head coaches first time head coach is specifically have success right away. And they have gone and double down on it. So if you are Marvin Lewis, if you are Jim Caldwell, if you are any of those reach tread coaches that have had experienced the NFL before. Need not apply. You're looking at a couple of guys in the NFL. That changed around the fortunes of their franchise is very quickly. And we're first year head coaches. And that has now colored everybody's decision making around the NFL. Brian Flores in Miami. Sean McDermott in Buffalo, Matt LeFlore in Green Bay. Heavens to fan ski. In Cleveland. These guys walked in and day one took a losing situation and made them winners. You could put Joe judge into this category because even though the Giants ended up six in 10, it was obvious how much the Giants changed. Because of their new head coach, and this is now what all of these owners are chasing. This is what all of these owners are trying to replicate. They don't want the guys that have been around before. They don't want the guys. You know what Mike McCarthy didn't help matters. McCarthy was one of the most decorated former coaches that were in the cycles the last two years, and his Cowboys didn't look like they benefited at all by having him at all. They look like they were worse for it. If you're a head coach, and you had head coaching experience before you are right now being pushed to the borders pushed the boundaries. When I look at the hires around the NFL, I also see again a heavy reliance on offense, and that's to be expected. You are looking at a heavy reliance on offense when it comes to Arthur Smith. When it comes to Hoping that you can get that quarterback to the next level that next coordinator but this year more than others. It's less about offense or defense. It's Maura about young guy coming. Be the Wiz kid that celebrated Staley gets his job. That the Chargers were looking for the Sean McVeigh of defense and Staley had three years of the NFL and one year as a coordinator. The Jets are looking at Robert Sal and not to fix Sam Donaldson. But to change the culture off their organization in Detroit. Dan Campbell don't even have a specialty. Dan Campbell's not a coordinator. But damn cable's seen as potentially a leader, a leader of a locker room, a culture builder. Urban Meyer admits I'm not going to run myself ragged and practice. I'm gonna hire assistant coaches. And so urban Meyer is there whether we believe it or not to build a culture but not necessarily be in the muck. The weeds of the excess knows this is where this year's Coaching cycle took us The most curious part about all of this is Erik the enemy, not having a head coaching job. Because there were multiple openings he interviewed for all of them, essentially He is potentially a first year head coach, and he does have the offensive background. So that would seem to check a lot of boxes. Why isn't the enemy hired? It's beyond me. As the interview. Well, his agent says he does, although that's his agent. Is it because that people don't believe that he has control in that offense that anybody could do it? Well. Doug Peterson got a job out of that offense and that Maggie got a job out of the air out of that offense. Is it because Matt Maggie and Doug Peterson kind of showed that Andy Reid assistance might not have All that great of a track record. Maybe maybe those two guys hurt Eric, the enemy. Maybe they just don't believe that Eric, the enemy has whatever secret sauce is for the rest of these guys. You would hope it's not the color of his skin. But there's plenty of people in the NFL that air suggesting otherwise. But the fact is that if you followed the tea leaves the enemy checks all the boxes that I just mentioned of what's hot right now in the NFL and doesn't have the job. Now, maybe he gets one of the last two remaining. Maybe he gets the Eagles job. Maybe you get the Texans job. Who knows? But there's a couple of very obvious themes going on. And right now people want the quick fix that they see coming from the young culture changers that have happened the NFL the last couple of years. Pete 55 to 1 to four. "This is what you need to be a head coach in the NFL as a black court coach, African American coach, He's done it all and the only thing that's holding them back right now. Or at least was was the fact that they were so good. He couldn't get his interviews at the end of the day. Next year. If there is not the Corona virus, you can travel freely. Um I hope that they keep this in place, Bt On on Monday. Yes, Coach. Sorry. I gotta take off for you know, eight hours or 12 hours, however long it is. We'll take a private plane. Get me there. Get me back, and I'm not gonna miss my duties. I know I'm gonna, you know, double time work it, But you can't negate the opportunity for guys like Eric the enemy which, over the last couple years, it feels like it has been that goes without saying Then we'd have to leave the state. The team that is interesting conflict. I in their point, and you could meet on the tarmac. That's a great point. Any chopping up a 34 hours and get a sense of OK, There's somebody I want to take another step with and guest on being on an airplane for three or four hours. It's all concepts. You talk people, Um, you shake somebody's hand. You look him in the eye. You should have a sense of workable sense of. When you have money to put quarters in these things happen, and they do they know So you know, it's just Yeah. Listen, I have always been a proponent and I always will be of the best person getting the job. I mean, you know, I don't like nobody does when one of the proceed best people is not able to even enter the fray to get the job. I'm also very reluctant to say that the men have been hot who had been hired Or not, or not the right hires. I don't think that's fair either. I mean, I don't know You can't you know, I think they're actually mutually exclusive. I love Campbell. I love Arthur Smith. Obviously Rob Solossa minority and always Miami. If anybody nobody loves him more than me. I look like I love the guy. But there it zipay awful Look for the NFL. If McDaniels gets the Eagles job and insert whomever you want for the Texans, if it's not bowls, and it's not the enemy, and Marvin Lewis or somebody like that, I don't know. It's a white person Day ball since his days in the state stable for the bills, right? You've got 66 white men and one Arab Muslim Muslim American, and that goes against Everything that we've talked about for a long time. It's right. But again, I what the lines did. I love Campbell. Yeah, I love these hirings, but it's still not right. Be enemies got to be able to walk in on the dance floor and try to cut up the road for a couple of minutes. Somebody's gotta tap him on the shoulder and say, Come on your turn to dance. The guys. The guys I don't know. You know the problems the enemy got. It's so interesting because I'm watching that game And of course, of course, Andy Reid says. Fourth down, we're going forth That's given that's not worth the enemy, saying Andy Lowe. That's 100. What's 1000% read? But that play called I'd like to know the mechanism behind that call. And you know what if, and my heart's tells me that it's Andy Reid, Is there some collaboration? Yeah. Before the week. Hey, if we're here, what do you think? Yes, it's flush through clearly. But if the enemy made that call, which I don't think he did, But if he did, Andy Reid needs to say that Agreed. He needs to say that by the way, I think you're right. It is still Arab American, even though he's Muslim. Okay. Still Air American. Okay, But yeah, I got you. I got you. So we'll see. Uh, nice mid cycle course correction by the NFL could be too little too late, But you'll see. Well, nothing is official yet on the new general manager, but it is expected to be Teri fought no from the Saints check back later this afternoon for updates on what Smith has to say for his plan to fix the Falcons college football. There may be a huge a link to the firing of Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt has been sacked for possible recruiting violations. And I'm Jay Black on the home of the dogs. 95.5 wsb know you've been keeping knowing this for a while. What do you think? J. How will the Falcons look different under a coach Arthur Smith? Well, what got everybody's attention. What he's excelled at in Tennessee was the power running game he took Derek can remain in the 5th 2000 yard running back in NFL history. This year, but that was still a balanced off. It's Ryan Tannehill, who was a mediocre quarterback got let go from Miami. He turned in to be one of the more efficient players in the league. It Smith was able to get the ball toe his top wide receivers and make his best play makers make place. But he's never been a head coach before. He was only an offensive coordinator for two years. And when you're hiring a coordinated, really just spinning the wheel and see what happens, But They think this guy's brought himself up from the ground up. Even though his dad is a billionaire, he founded FedEx. He still started at the bottom of the NFL and worked all of his way up to the top. So it'll be an exciting day. This afternoon when he's introduced his head coach, It will be. Hey, thanks, Jake. And, you know, folks in Georgia love that running game. I sure appreciate it. There's much more to come here on Atlanta's Morning news, including what Channel Two action News reporter Richard Elia's describing is the very quiet streets of Washington D. C. "I mean, if you're gonna look at teams and again, it's gotta be Signed off on by this Shawn Watson because he's got the trade clause in his contract. But the Jets are gonna be one that can position themselves beautifully to say. You're kind of New York Be be the guy that turns this thing around with it with it with the new regime in town and clearly talented pieces around Interesting to see. But you're gonna give up a lot to get to Shawn Watson there. Yeah, you're going to give up a lot, but yet still Salas, a defense of mine. He was the defensive coordinator for the 40 Niners. So if he can sure up that defense, which by the way, Wasn't too shabby. That wasn't a terrible, atrocious defense. It wasn't a few more pieces how you trade away all your draft capital to probably go get to show Watson. But still you gotta defense of mine and head coach is going to change the culture there with the quickness. And then you're gonna maybe perhaps bring in, and I don't know this to be certain, but a lot of rumors about going to get to Shawn Watson. And now you change your offense, offensive identity completely. He's a leader immediately that steps into that locker room. Things look Real different in New York, and then I have to think back to when the Jets lost that first game. They lost that. You know they lost two games. But when they first lost their game, and this is ruining the franchise forever. This is what happens. The jet, you know they were winning by losing, etcetera, etcetera, and now You're set up for them to make some real solid moves heading into this 2021 season. All right, the last fire that we haven't really spent a lot of time and is Arthur Smith, former Tennessee offensive coordinator now being the new head coach in Atlanta. And he also bring her inherits. I should say ah, lot of talent there with Mattie Ryan. We know what the right receivers conduce. They're, um they're they've struggled, though, the last three years to get off to a fast start. In fact. I think they've got lost like their first like seven or eight games in the past three years. I mean, they just struggled out of the gates. And that will be the first thing Arthur Smith is tasked with is coming out and starting out fast winning games quickly right away, not waiting till middle of the season when it's just too little, too late. Ryan Clark, ESPN NFL analyst on NFL live this week, said Arthur Smith was a good hire. In Atlanta. I think you can't have success. There's actually There's absolutely talent on this Atlanta Falcons office, but it's not just about getting them going. It's about them learning to finish football games. This is the team that we all know how the jokes start rolling in the second half. When they have leads up 2083 was 23 is something we will always talk about. Arthur Smith has it has to delegate. He has to find ways to make sure this team understands how to finish. So it's not only about the offense, it's about what he can do as the chief of staff. Not just the play calling. Yeah, no doubt about it. Figuring out a way to not blow leads will be number one, start up fast this season and win some games within the first five or six weeks and then figure out not not to blow leads. Is there one A and one B for Arthur Smith going to Atlanta and I feel like they looked probably directly at their inefficiency in the red zone. I believe that the Falcons were 26 in the NFL in red zone efficiency failed to generate six when they got there. And you go for a creative mind, one that can generate offense, one that could produce and remedy a problem like that, too, clearly played this team amongst other things. But this had created football mind and most, especially on the offensive side, and what he was able to do with an offense and the Titans. Must we talk about the run game? Understand? 1000 elite passing attack as well. And what he was able to do there on that front, draw up a lot of creative stuff. They were strong in the red zone offensively. You're looking at a guy like this to say, okay, You don't have their Kendari. But can you give us a run game? Can you Can you was Mattie Ryan, who's a future Hall of Famer and long in the tooth and on the back end of his career? How much juice can you squeeze out of him there in Atlanta and get this thing going back to right? It'll be interesting to see No doubt about it. All right. We do have a score update for you here in Kansas City because the Chiefs have tacked on to their lead. We'll get to that next because it's a Interesting situation right now in Kansas City. Plus, there's an interesting development going on with the Eagles quarterback situation will dive into all that. Nice. Listen to Game day on ESPN Radio, the NFL's divisional round. "I'm Chris Chandler Live and the WSB 24 hour news center. The Falcons have a new head coach. 18th head coach and Falcons history has no head coaching experience at all, and his dad created Set X, But Arthur Smith has created his own name, working his way from the bottom rungs up in the NFL and turned to good years of the Tennessee Times offensive coordinator into the head job in Atlanta. What he created in Nashville was a rare balance. Attacks focused on the power run that times were in the top four in the league in points and yards. This year, they were ranked second in the league in rushing. And, of course, Derrick Henry had 2000 yards on the fifth time that's happened in NFL history. The Falcons haven't even had 1000 yard rusher in the last four years, but it's an experience is lacking. If, though he's the right guy, the Falcons can quickly turn around a decent roster and possibly make the playoffs. Now they have to focus on a GM and appears it'll be safe. But then there's the just like anything else is those. You're just reaching. Just it's absurd on the face of it. This is something to do with the Falcons, perhaps hiring the offensive coordinator from the Titans, Arthur Smith. Yeah, correct. So they've offered the job to him. He hasn't accepted yet, And I noticed that Arthur Blank was trending on Twitter. So I was wondering what was going on and why he was trending. And it turns out that Arthur Smith's dad, Fred Smith, Is the owner of FedEx sitting now I believe is the owner of the CEO. Thanks to CEO. It says he's the FedEx founder. Okay, he's the founder. Coach luke fickle and more are coming each and every day and i know among eagles fans. You know we see this as a pretty dysfunctional team right now. We see this as an organization. That doesn't seem to know exactly what they're doing and we're skeptical as to whether or not a a really high profile coach is going to want to come here given the list of names here. Where are you at on this eagles. Coaching search as there really are just getting started right. Now yeah and we saw it just kellen more added today and obviously you know they're going to continue to cast the net and i think just in general. If the reports are to be believed is is kind of worn down from from this run with eagles. And but i honestly don't put too much stock into this idea that they're undesirable because at the end of the day there's thirty two jobs. There's thirty two head. Coaching jobs in the nfl. We see guys in view with with teams like the jets and the jaguars every coaching cycle. Yes they sometimes have high picks so they sometimes have a lot of cap space but at the end of the day. It's nfl fell head coaching job. You can't tell me you know if you're joe brady and you're getting interest from all these teams. I mean you're not going to just not going to turn down the opportunity and so And eventually some of the spots are gonna get filled For me i mean i. I start for the eagles with looking at the offensive side of the ball. I know that's it's a big talking point. Jeffrey lurie with with you know really any eagles fan. That's been under or watching. Jeffey larry hires run. The team I i think really it comes down to are you going for You're gonna have to sacrifice somewhere. Because with somebody like joe brady even kellen moore. You're really banking on them. Being kind of an offensive mastermind and up and coming mastermind as opposed to this Person who's been around the league for years and respected and you know doug peterson even though he didn't have head coaching experience. Jeffrey loria himself talked about that emotional intelligence he talked about. Doug peterson former quarterback. In this league he had time under andy reid and so i. I think it's just a matter of where are they gonna sacrifice. Because if they go with robert. Sal the forty niners you're sacrificing. You might bring in a nice offensive coordinator with them but he may leave here for another head coaching job. And so what do they want. We're gonna find out.

"C. Saleh as coach. It works like coveted and most sought after T E J and not stuff like re tread or questionable, higher or what are they thinking? That's usually what I get it. It's like it's another Christmas Day today for trash. Just keeps getting better for you, 2021. You're like, gonna be like the stands and taking a giant bite from a wheel of cheese. At this point. It's just that time summer of George comes to reality here in the not quite winter of Southern California you're skipping down the street happy is could be Take a look. What? What is 2021 brought me the Knicks aren't hopeless, right? Not hopeless, Not hopeless. I mean, are they good now, but they're not hopeless, which they normally are hopeless. Knicks are not hopeless. OK, the Mets get Lynn Door and Carrasco here we all were a World Series favorite. We're not done yet. And the Jets get Robert Saleh, a guy that many teams wanted. And what my honestly my big fear was. The Jets quickly identified Saleh and Arthur Smith as the two guys, right, these the two guys that everybody wants Niners. Do you see Titans offensive coordinator My big fear, because, you know, I think about failure is that they were going to say the salad. Hey, what do you think he would say? Oh, no, no, no, no. Not doing it. Arthur Smith. No, no, no, not doing it. Okay, because that's the worst thing is to be told No. All right. The worst thing is to say we have you. We love you. Here it is, And you get told. No, I would rather go someplace else. That's what I was expecting, because that's usually what happens with the Jets. How many times the Jets tried to call Matt Campbell? And he said, uh, that's out of the NFL Lincoln right now. I'm not talking the NFL. Jim Harvard, Nana died. How many times has it been? And instead it was here's the number one guy in the coaching carousel cycle this year. And the Jets wind up getting him. They make a bold decision and a bold move when when other teams are waiting and trying to feel things out, and they decided we're going to go make our move in. Saleh obviously loved the position. He was in with the jet, because, like I told you that jets is a good job. It comes with a lot of things. It just doesn't come with Trevor warrants. It's not the Jaguars job, but clearly Urban Meyer has that. So the fact that he was okay. I'm ready. And I'm coming here when he was in the beginning of his head coaching cycle interviews with with live with teams and the Jets, let him out of the building and he still comes back. I mean, this is I'm on a cloud right now. This is so great. This is for you. It's Christmas Day all over again Wrapped up in a big enforcer looking man. A leader of men. Yeah. You got the toughest coach in the division now? Oh, yeah, I love ballad check and he's got Jedi powers when that hood goes up. So you're gonna have to be crafty to try to overthrow him. I'd love to see the fight in the difference in styles because they say styles make fights but had floors. I mean, McDermott. I mean, you've got a really good division of coaches now, man. No, I'm not encased us. Bring bring it bring down the average. And now did it fit? Picturing Saleh's Darth Vader, who decides? Okay, time to pick up the emperor and throw him down the shaft. I mean, that's what I'm that's what I'm thinking right now. Certainly could do it. I'm gonna pick you up. Remember? You only had one hand. Darth Vader. Never look. Cut his hand off the Ansari spoiler. You don't talk about that as much. Yeah, Dad. I'm sorry about that. But I gotta cut your hand off to really prove a point to do that. Yeah, I took it off. Hey, here's the question, though. First soon call, you know, would like toe recognize Smith? Jason? Yeah, Coach. You bench. He's gonna be one of those coaches where you see the stories and Robert Saleh gets to the Jets premises at four o'clock in the morning, beginning a five hour workout before coaching the Jets. You're gonna see all kinds of stories like that Coach. Remember the do you ever see the means of Adam Geese? With wide eyes and tacos. If you had a food that we should insert part of your persona, what should it be? Oh, and all the hard hitting questions. I'm asking just right off the jump. He's got to be something healthy and full of protein like it can't be something like Tie shirt you know, likes because it's got to be something that exudes power when you're talking about you, But it's gotta be tight, tight shirt. What? What's the good food that exudes power and health and not something that's just well? Is this something that you needed to go? Yeah, that's that's that's that's a powerful food. Oh, hands down garbanzo beans. Oh, really? Oh, man, it gives you everything you need. It has the protein, the nourishment, the fiber all its power, baby. Yeah, but that doesn't But it doesn't sound like it's something that comes with power something except that comes like with something free on the side of those garbanzo beans. That doesn't sound tough. What you want, like some spicy like a sour soap? Yeah, no sour so that it's not like a food. It's going. Okay. You know what you asked. That's my fault. We're gonna go live to Jacksonville coming up in 90 seconds. Get all the latest on the urban Meyer higher and see if I can convince someone who's got urban Meyer's here about how wonderful a quarterback Justin feel. But first David Gascon.

"Have made this a non story instead. Steve Nash fan the flame creating a firestorm. Tierney If I'm filthy, I just wouldn't do it. James Harden would make him worse. Tenacious. Is it an accelerator to trade the shore? Watson? No, it would definitely set them back. I just think it's easier to start with a guy you know is gonna be there for a long time and keep him happy. Make sure you get the right kind of coach for the quarterback you've already paid. Then things can be okay. Full. We're judging look. Or Jackson on how we performs in the playoffs, and the other guys were just merely evaluating them during the regular season. But it's only because Lamar has put himself on this elite pedestal way before the other guys did fear Tiki and Tierney Heidi for our what's going on? Make sure you see rules and check it out. And for free today rocket mortgage squares. Dot com. You don't think Let's let's get back to this coaching carousel because that what Here's what I find very interesting and, you know, start to sift through this. More. Thoroughly more confidently in terms of which candidates are beginning to emerge as the top candidates. I think we've gained a little clarity there, but before we even get into it, I want to bring something up. I think it's important. No. I saw Jeff fans on edge, Robson. You know you left the building with the contract, and I'm bothers me, too. But Arthur Smith has had a couple of second interviews as well. This coaching cycle is very different in the sense that The first interview was a zoom session. All right, Yeah, So the second interview in reality is kind of like, interview one. B. Yes, It's not the same conventional path, so this might be protracted. This big stretch out for a bit. I think you're absolutely dead on with that, BT, because there's no way you could get a feel of how a guy interacts With other men or women as well, because obviously head coaches deal with front offices, and there's women increasingly becoming, you know, executives in the front office, but there's no way you could determine how a guy actually interacts how he moves how he talks how he what all those things. Over a camera. You know you could get to the bottom of you know the exes and oh's or what? Your philosophy or who you gonna hire a staff, but I think Think NFL teams are getting smart about hiring head coaches. Finally, instead of doing it rationally instead of like, Oh, this is the hot candidate. Let me just go get that guy and maybe the pandemic And the fact that we're all zoomed into everything, including us, and I've been seeing you in the 11 months March 13 or DSL or Santer. Um, you know, you're you've gotten used to it, but it also gives you a reason to go slower. You know what I mean is like, Yeah, we don't don't You're not going to see somebody and that guy's going to say. Well, if you let me leave here, then I'm gonna go sign a deal with somewhere else. I think teams now have an excuse to say Well, we really need to get to know you. Can you come visit us, which then takes I don't know how we coming, or maybe even longer Tol bigger out a schedule to get a guy to come in the office. Make sure you're not don't have grown a virus. Like all these protocols that the league has to follow. I think it's allowed this process to slow down, and that's a good thing beating because it often goes really fast. And you have bad coaching hires, and he's actually seen over year over year over year. Yeah, it's it has a tendency to get hasty because teams panic. One guy goes off the board now outside of the charges. Nobody had any real interest, at least that I'm aware of trying to lure Urban Meyer to their team s So when the Jaguars started getting serious and the charges put in their overture, it's not like other teams how to react to that, because they weren't In the market for Urban Meyer services. But some of these other gentlemen, Rob Salah's interviewed six of the seven openings. Okay, Um Arthur Smith is in very high demand. Joe Brady is in high demand. What I think complicates this and I think you raise a really good point about Not being able to really detect the one characteristic that almost every one of these teams is looking for like, and that is a tangible Presence. Yeah, that you try. Just You can't really extrapolated that from zoom you might you might have a sense, but still, you gotta shake somebody's hand. You got to see how they how they worked the room how they interact, and he just got he was thinking about just in Paris about Joe Judge when he didn't like first went into those that interview. No, I mean, nobody knew who he was made. It was a good special teams coach and Bill Belichick. Had an affinity for him. That's why he gave him additional responsibilities and coaching the wide receivers and his last year up in the new England, But I guarantee you as soon as you walked into the room with Joe Johns, and I haven't done this yet. I'm looking forward to meet him in person one of these days. Me too. Like a soon as you walk in the room and meet him, you're like, Dude, you're imposing, man. You want to play for the guy? He has a presence and you want to play for? That's exactly right. But you're not getting that over his him call right? He comes camera, Heidi. Look small, you know, you know You know you're still you don't know these things until you until you have in person Interviews. Think about it hides flaws, and it minimizes strengths. Yes, If you really think about it, Yes, That's right. Exactly Right until I think I think this this is deliberately slower and I think it's a good thing because you're actually getting real evaluations. Now it doesn't mean that everything is is, you know, hunky dorey and clean and It also gives the candidates ah, lot more leverage than I think they probably did used to have because it's easy to say Gotta jump on another call with whoever you know, you don't know. You know, It's not like I got to go meet with the Detroit Lions. If you're in Philadelphia, like requires getting on a plane. Now you could say, Look, I got a call with the lions. And you know, 30 minutes can we could wrap this up? You know, it's not going the way that you want it or you're not getting the right kind of cozy, eh? Said. That's true. That's true. Not saying that's happening. But, you know, theoretically, like anything could happen because everything is is virtual these days. Yeah. Young now the thing that I think is going to be interesting once either, And this is just my guests, But I believe that you know, Sola War. Smith will be the first the next after Urban Meyer the next coach, hire where I'm not. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that's the next name or names off the board. And then if that happens, you know something like Brian Table Who's coaching this this weekend. Somebody like Wink Martindale was coaching this weekend against against Able. I mean, literally against Abel being Eric, the enemy who's obviously coaching this weekend coming up with the Chiefs. You know, I don't know Brady's not coach, and I don't know what it does like. Does it speed up the other timelines like if you really like table or if you love the enemy, or you love wink Martindale, But suddenly within a day, it's Jaguar's filled Uh, jets filled and I'm just say, Falcon's filled right. And you've got four jobs left. Are you inclined to maybe take your be candidate say if your big candidates Joe Brady rather than wait for a table or a beginning because you don't want to risk having to get your sea Yeah, that Z that and that's why I usually goes so fast bt because they teams don't want to get left. And so they It's probably not just any different than a draft. Think about the draft, like where you like you have. You know you're you know, you're a guys and you have your big eyes and all of a sudden all you're a guys are gone. You're like, Oh, crap. What am I gonna do so that you may be? You make a reach for one of your B guys? Because you're just feel desperate. And I mean, that's why you get bad coaches bt because this happens so fast. I mean, I don't think that the NFL should put Like a more deliberate timeframe on this like they should. They need to be able to do it at whatever pace they want to go out. But, yes, it's all but you know, you hear what I'm saying? I don't know where you're going. It's like it's like it's like almost unfair that it becomes a competition. With two interview. Guys who have limited time to be interviewed until it's like running a race and I'm giving you a half a mile head. Start that try to help my gonna beat you. That's right. You can't and so Hey, I almost feel like the NFL should delay this process, but they mean obviously they need to get you know a new head coach in and then that sometimes it's also.

And James Harden. How about you? Trade? James Harden for Kyrie, Irving. And they both won't show up. 8773 d P show. Email address. TP A damn. Patrick dot com Twitter Handle AT DP Show We were just talking about the power balls at $550 million. And then the mega Million's. Whatever That is, is, is that a big number twos at 700 Million season 750 right now, but it could go up by the time it gets the Mega millions is on Friday and sometimes when they're big like that, they tend to keep jumping up so that one could get to 800 by Friday. I'm always curious about when you jump in on something like this when you normally don't do it, But at what point do you say, Oh, now it's gotten to a point where I'll play the lottery here, usually when the news starts covering it That's when I go, all right. Put in five bucks, So I think what we're gonna do is do a group effort here. If we win, we all win. Is everybody a comfortable with that? Absolutely. Everybody put in five bucks each for both of these drawings. You have fallen. So let's say it was 800 million after taxes. The lump sum would be about do my math about 500 million. Let's say there's 12 of us here. That's not enough. Is that like 45 person or something like that? Each person walks of 45 million? It's second thought, I don't know. What we're after here, so you'll get it right now. It's it's 750. But when you take the cash option, it immediately goes down to 5 15. We'll round up 551 million and then you're gonna have to pay taxes out of that. Which is still coming out, too. Check my calculations. Hell of a lot of money confirmed. Okay, if when we win. How many people continue? Who shows up the next day that we have a show? Does anybody not show up of this group right here? Dan. It's seeding you show up. The next day. Yeah. Okay, Paulie. I think everybody shows up the next day. They worried about the Monday of the following week. When you soaks in the check clears E think everyone's showing up to gloat the day of okay, I have. What did we say? 12 people. I have 12 of us getting about 28 million apiece. All right. I mean, I guess that's enough. I don't know. You okay with that? Right that work? I just want to make sure that I Throw that out there. Cash up front. Right? Cash upfront Cash from by the way, Do you know who the leading candidate is? According to Vegas to be the next head coach of the Jets. On Peterson. Doug Peterson. I don't know if he's going to get a promotion like he he got fired by the Eagles, and then he made to get a promotion. He gets Theo coach the Jets. This, according to the oddsmakers have sports line. Doug Peterson is the favor. Brandon Staley, who's Brandon Staley, with Mick 11, G defense recording all that's right. That's right, Eric the enemy, and then Arthur Smith. Brian Table, and Robert Sala, who was having his second interviews the defensive coordinator for the 40 Niners, but just some of the names out there. Yes, make love it. I would saw a tweet and you can tell that Arthur Smith is really hot and I just have dropped. The name is so it's a little like that, Smith. Can you get excited about someone named Arthur Smith is your next coach. It sounds like an owner. Yeah, like I always think Arthur Smith always think Arthur Blank and we're going to hire Arthur Smith. That That was my poll question. If I could tell you anything about the candidate and I said you could have a hot coordinator, a former head coach or a very good college coach, you Julin either way, or is it all individual? Run that by me again? You get a hot coordinator like a Bob Sala I called Bob You get a former head coach like Doug Peterson, or you get a college coach thinking Reilly and Luke Fickell both have mentioned this week. Urban Meyer and are well not urban might be a little different. I'm busy so big. What if it was like Lincoln Riley like I'm curious about that. It's it's unproven. We know what Doug Peterson could do. And we've seen that he's won a Super Bowl. The gun to the playoffs a couple of times. Uh, I've said it often. There are certain coordinators who aren't head coaches. They shouldn't be head coaches. We tend to think well, because you're really good at your job, then you should be the head coach, and that's not always the case. So they think we've run into situations Teams have where they go. Great offensive coordinator. Okay, but that's what he does. Pitching coach is a great pitching coach. That doesn't mean it could be a great manager. And you find that in all of these sports where you go, man, He's really good. Okay. He's really good as a defensive coordinator, Is he good as a head coach? And that's not always the case. But we do tend to kind of anoint these guys and say, Well, this guy is going to be a great head coach. I don't know because being a head coach That's where you're you oversee everything. You have to go to those press conferences every day. You have to explain yourself. When you go to these press conferences, you have to make tough decisions you have to hire and fire. There's draft picks that are involved in this. There's free agency. There's so much involved in that. It's not just Hey, If I'm a defensive coordinator, I take what you give me. I do the best with what I have, like Brian Schottenheimer got fired, is the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. Now, If I told you 10 weeks ago, the offensive coordinator of the Seahawks is going to get fired. That you might go. Well, who is he? And then? That can't be the case because you got Russ Wilson is cooking. The last two years, maybe the last three years, Russell Wilson has cooked in the first half of the season. Second half the season. Not so much. He has not had an M V P vote in his career. Through weeks. One through nine. Team average 34 points again Rest of the season. 23 Yards per game 415 rest of the season. 3 24. Rushes to be our 81. Weeks, one through 9 62.5 the rest of the season. As much as I would say. I understand what Pete Carroll's doing and it was the right call. It wasn't the right call. Now there's a philosophical difference here. And that is, I think Pete Carroll wants to get back to running the football. Russell Wilson. Is part of the problem here, or at least he deserves part of the blame. He hasn't played well in the second half this season. He did not Now you could say well offensive line or whatever your reasoning is. Keep in mind. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf had two of the greatest seasons in Seattle. Receiving history. This is the Legion of Boom was so great that you didn't ask the offense to do as much. But if you say you got to go out there and create offense. And the Seahawks,.

Rested Bills melt down with mistakes in 42-16 loss to Titans
"Did you see this common? Did you see the titans rolling up a forty? Burger. On the bills who look they look like the team that had a cove nineteen nightmare with layoffs and close facilities and long stretches without play not the titans. I. Didn't see it coming. I mean I think that if you're someone that just observers football. How much do we know whether or not practice time? Is. A key indicator of success I? Mean I'm saying you never practiced but I think the bills having to split attention I'm talking like deep staff members, players studying tape between the titans and chiefs might have been a bigger factor. But when the game started tonight I mean this game to me is about mistakes by Josh Allen that we haven't really seen up to this point. They came home to roost tonight. The first interception was not on him. That was a deflected ball the second one though was and Ryan Tannehill? Kind of another notch in the belt of Sane for all of us on I'm included in that the question whether the off season and into this season would have been a path that showed us that Ryan Tannehill. Last year was an aberration from the rest of his career. He's not going to reach those typical heights, but he really fits in this offense. He is a tough minded quarterback and we see it with this runs. Tonight we see with him blasting for a first down that it didn't seal the game further sealed the game late late on his pinpoint passes play action attack under Arthur Smith you probably. Generated About Fifteen head coaching interviews during this game because it was on national TV because for some reason, Arthur Smith is still a little under the radar and I think it's about. The Smith the Arthur Smith. I mean you'll see that the future of offense I know it feels like. Like a paint company I get that it's not it's not something that sticks out but the bills defense. Week I. Think we came into the year thinking the titans defense might be the part of that team that kind of lax identity. Well, tonight, they really they put forward a great performance and caused havoc for the bills were the bills defense up the Middle Johnny Smith other guys just being victimized. I'd be real concerned about Buffalo's defense because teams are going to look at this and say, we're going to attack them this way.
