Brody read sells the dark. We been yeah like get the rockers or whatever. Yeah we're on the road for three hundred days editor airbrush. We love to love the art of the craft addicted to listen. Listen to our podcast. No i do host as a heel so that was actually the perfect interest you to enhance. That's just me saying like look you're an asshole for listening now that we got that out of the way i'm gonna i'm gonna talk for another ninety minutes if you're around but i don't care that reminds me the first cd i ever bought. My dad bought me. i bought the marshall mathers l. p. l. like he put it in the alike in his car on the way home and the very first like this a psa. If you fucking bought this cd for your son you're a piece of shit deserves to grow up a gang. You know and rather bad what you'd be expecting like you're going to have some problems. Yeah oh we did ruined my relationship with him. eminem we'll do that man The real slim shady standing up can really fuck your rental. Exactly my first cd was maybe weezer. Blue wave their first cd was like the first cd as well. Like i like had been purchasing tapes already at this point and that in like tenth grade or ninth grade. Got my first cd. I think my first cd was green day. Dookie in fact in fact it was green day. Dookie how did the three of us three whitest first album i saw i saw the word. Ukio oh this is exactly what i want and i always in the front being just by their names fingers. Tony thought it would just be cool. Sound effects wrong farting in pooping. I wanted to build up my early. Like real real sound effects library kid now. Sorely disappointed went back. When you wanted to be a foley man punching chicken punchier check wasting twisting celery and yeah instead of just doing it for fun by yeah early so the reason i want to have you guys on is early in the quarantine i messaged ziyara and said i'm realizing now that anime might be the way for me to scratch. My swords and sorcery magic. H like i have i of high fantasy in that element and swords and nights and wizards and you recommended a few to me zig and i'm all in on goblin hunter and i'm all in on finland saga right. Now i fucking loved both of them. And i had. I had watched some of the classic as that pierced mainstream. Like i've seen like akira Winning chronicles ninja. Scroll whatever. I seen a few of the big ones and always been like. This is pretty cool. Like i love martial arts. Love madam i was always been kinda then. I kind of fell off. And then this brought me like goblin hunter specifically. Let's go. I wanna talk about this because i i must say are all animals like this where the kids show. But there's also some real perverted. Yes and it's like casual in a funny way. That i was enjoying it like it would be like the goblin. Hunter he can save us. And the wizard like move and our tits would like heave with. How old are the characters show. It's not for the fainthearted. So that's the show where you're like. Oh we're going to go on a fun adventure we got. We got our class. We got our we gotta archer and then everyone dies at the for the very first fifteen minutes diab- really it's not like enemies always birdieing expectations. The goblins are like raping a woman. It's not a very coming is going to be a fun like Rpg romp then get very serious very fast or like completely different ride. It's completely kind of mashed together though in a way where it's like it is still a corny d. cartoon of like with the wizards potion. We should be able to but there is a goblin who's like a woman's genitals and then goblin hunter puts a fucking sword in the top of his head and his brief spill out. And you're like you see him like kill a bunch of like baby goblins who like look very cute and innocent like he has a whole thing where he's like yeah. They're not bad now with their be. They could be badly up fuck. I wasn't super into like fantasy before. But like post. Game of thrones everything that involves fantasy is just super fucked up. And yeah the guy as much as i am a fucked up guys exactly trying to get my issues out on screen. That's what i'm trying to see. I was never big issues via programming. The problem i have to get into. Yeah i was never like lord of the rings. I fucking hated dragons. Do i was like give me a fuck in. Give me do that. Turns green or like has a laser. Like that's what i want. But then i watch throwing does. Oh all right. I can do this. But it hasn't really stuck with me. Symptoms like i'll watch the ordering. They were fine. Like i really liked the up. I was like it would be so nice like there's nothing that captured the horror of like that when juergen has at first attack on like the The coin convoy. And you're like oh yeah. This is fucking terrifying thing about this is also not enough tits and lord of the rings. Can i let me see a little fiery. Hobbit tits would. Yeah yeah well the the thing. I think the thing that got a generation of people. I know into anime. That i might have just been too old when it gained. American popularity was dragon. ball z. oh absolutely retired to nami. Block is kind of like the mecca of You know people get into anime and like admitting that they like it. In the first place serbia cowboy bebop gun wing was huge for us. Robotics sailor moon. Yeah what they did. I mean fucking. I could about adult swim all day. Because i fucking love to like i think a dope thing that they did was they like they should all these intimate things that they couched in like cool shit like they'd have like fucking flying lotus and like all these like dope beats and stuff like oh shit like this is some dope as music so i won't flick an enormous nerd when i told my friends. Go watch dragon multi and then like they'll they'll catch some dope beats in between like the interstitial shit they. They made it a little cooler by gala. We're playing it at a party you're like. Oh yeah yeah nerd for watching sick. Yeah they what they created. The silverlake echo park hipster seeing without even knowing. It's more than that. I mean to them. Twenty one. i if you didn't already know this every black person you've ever met is in the anime even even the old heads there. Indiana may okay. I did not agree. No yeah. I didn't want to approach this subject. But that's where i i found out i i could not tell when i joined the cast out. Everybody was obsessed with dragon ballsy. And i couldn't my main issue is. I'm like one of the only white guys in that show. And i'm like six or seven years older than everyone so there was a black thing or a young thing that everybody. It's a little bit about the project. Brothers dragon ballsy and they're always shut the fuck up. You know what it is. It's because black guys were only allowed to wear three different types of cartoon characters on their clothes and it was looney tunes dot albert in dragon balls. Yeah our to really came in at the end at the end. Yeah that's really. It's it's really. They've had a stranglehold in our culture for like the past fifteen years and like i got no problems with it i. I'm a huge fan of it. It is weird being like all that shit that like we watched in high school. I mean i was like what Thirteen what ninth grade. Whenever whenever shit dropped and mike being like oh my god. This is so cool. No one's into it now. It just like the culture now which i fucking secretly into it. We're talking about like why are why did you like me to legislate we talk about fucking for geeta all day we would have been. Bff's yeah it's like anime de an improv. like three actually low key into it. i just wanna. I don't wanna come out and say it. Recline my chair by accident so what. What's so cool about animate like what. What do we like about. What what do people like. I mean it's obviously visually stunning. That's a given. That's sort of par for the course doesn't feel like you get a lotta shitty animations. I mean i'm sure. I'm not as well versed and you're like this is not that beautiful but it's fun funnier. Yeah i think. I mean i i could get. I'll i'll i'll go i breathe. I'm sure you can. You can jump onto this and everyone thoughts. But like i think i mean. I've always been a fan of animation. I didn't really know it as a kid. But like you know. I grew up watching the simpsons futurama critic. All that shit's like my idea of animated asian. When it comes like the the the west was like oh it's you know caregivers have forefingers They don't really do a lot of animation. It's mainly like you're there that the silicate jokes like you're they're like have someone have some weird character with weird hair. Say three jokes per page. Then get to the next scene as puts a toaster in the garage or whatever and flanders took like that. It's like the first time. I saw like a cure. I was like. Oh shit this is. Like animation is insane. I've the dvd's and stuff. I can watch that. They have like eight layers of like animated Sales before they for one shot which is crazy but like also like civilization like of that. She was my first enemy. I really got into was robotech on on to nahmias like the future aliens. They find some tech like they make big robots that transforms is like top gun. Only they could transform into giant mattress like extremely shit. But like i i was watching. You got me interested. You're gonna love gone. Robots kaija or something. I was like. Oh yeah i'll send you another. There's another show that any Gun mobile suit gundem. Double oh eighty. I think it's like straight up. Top gun like aviators th the glaring as guitar. Rock you and love dude. But like i was watching. I was watching robotech. My favorite character in is like the bad. I was like killing. Everybody is like his plane have a giant skull and they'll say oh fuck yes dude and then. He died an episode like oh. He'll be back next week but he did come back house like oh fuck. The they're these stories have consequences in my make it to the end i was like oh shit that blew my little your mind. Yeah you didn't grow up watching cartoons going. Well now will never see the wiley coyote again. Drop back next week. Oh i wonder what homer is gonna to do. Now that he's fired from the power. Plants have looney tunes. An anime wiley. Cody would literally die from running into a canyon and then just be like five episodes. Were like the road. Runner is just really sad. It just like it's a flashback. Episode episode of the. Yeah i concur. I got into for me was just regular animation. The first thing i ever wanted to be growing up was like an animator like drew a lot. And then i realized how much you had to do it to get good. I was just. I was like quit with this but i i to me. It was just like kind of the same thing and when people talked about anime as being different or is like you know it's like overly sexual is and stuff or or it was cornu. Their mouths moved weird. I was just like hell. That's what that's a bad thing or ask you stumbled upon something. Because i think what. Got me into curiosity about anime. Was i think we were even calling it. Japan animation back then those days yeah and someone had gotten wind injia chronicles ninja scrolls that movie and we watched it has some sexual overtones. And you're like this is cool but then rock guy sucks like eats a woman out and kills her and then like also another dudes hump hunchback explodes and bees. Come out and know this is so far. And then i think you talking about like everyone's again they're weirdly sexual and it's like no if they're adults and if if you're cutting the heads off a fucking creatures that's fucked up an adult is way america. Gigo is just like blowing robots away dropping bombs on irons and x. manner just blasting robots and we're all like whoa we see a woman be like i'm scared for my sexual danger. He this walked up fucked up. I an adult sexist adult and they just happens to put both in. We literally ruined by south park. So he did you bring that up the the the remember when When like the the transformers original movie came out like fucking murked everyone in that movie like all the old lake all the old cast and everyone was like they. Just fucking kill optimus prime. It's like yeah do like that shit. Hits harder when like it has consequences to the story and stuff. I'll take twin rot rodham. Prime gets touch. Yeah so i. I mean i i mean you know this game is because i've yelled it a lot but like i love fucking action movies especially like hong kong shaw brothers like chen japanese like samurai flicks all. That shit was just like a different version of that where you can also do it more heightened because you're not bound by the laws of physics like you can have you can have like ninja score. You can have a dude jump through the treetops and slice giant rock dude in half with a sword in like worry about like the. It's like it looks. It looks like poetry. Like so fucking wins. The goal like that's stylized that they like. You're watching something that's it's beyond action. It's like we're yeah. The the corio is tight and then on top of it. You get to do so much and especially in some like i think of dragon. Ball z is. I'm not well versed in it but like you get like see everybody on a different background moving background. That's not you only get that in like marvel movies and even then it's just bullshit so it's really fun to see like one person would be like. Let's go back a different giant lease smashed together. It's a lot more healthy like on the playground to get into the type of violence where you're just yelling and then throwing energy like getting into like call of duty when you're thirteen. You're less likely to go from anime to the military Yeah you you're not holding your drone strike techniques when you're playing like i'm yvonne turn into robots then all bets are off honestly antiwar and anti military but if i got to pilot a gun i'm named a third world country imperial. Yeah where's the oil let. Let's go yeah. That's a fun thing. You see it in dragon ball z. And i wonder and you see in goblin hunter. I wonder how much a part of other animated is. He has also taught going off. What zig zigzag a tradition from the kung fu movies and stuff of like everyone's training. Everyone's like i'm not ready for the final fight yet. I need to gain and as like an rpg head. The ed characters gaining levels is like. Yeah that's what i think. I like about goblin hunter. I think anime as genre pulls from video games more than any other cinema or tv like genre so you get to be like yet. It works in this world that it's like now with extra arm shooter. I'm uncertain mega man rules. It's throw scissors like it's so fucking rad missing and a lot. And they're generally games that you just gain levels. They know the power that has over us. Psychologically to watch like goku train on a certain planet so that he gets his like trains at a different gravity. So he's stupid shit like even if he says put together. That's a that's a that's a whole genre like on this very shooting enemy like journey specifically for like thirteen. Your boys like that's what it translates young boy and like all that shit like every single one of them has like the training arc where they spend episode episode episode just like doing push ups or like planting the seed or waxing the window or whatever and then you see a payoff in the end but like Basically off that. I love when they add like the gamification of stuff like that. There's a There's one series called hundred hundred that spin. It's a fun show. I won't even get to it. 'cause it's too much but like has too much like the look on your face. You're like yeah our expectation you've ever had. It's really happy. Then he gets really dark. You don't see it. But like they spend a whole season like their season like in like literally trapped inside of an rpg's like it's all like they have like cards like this does plus seven damage or this returned. Everyone like there one place or like this acts like this makes you like take less than thirty percent damage damage on hit for like five stacks or whatever and you're like the d- the dude that wrote this had to spend so much time just writing out the fucking rules like what this does like what. Yeah exactly like. It's a crazy world rules though. I'm here from scifi. From whatever like fantasy whatever it is. I love world building and world rules and anime. Does that well too. And i'm like very frustrated with myself with my sort of western narrow viewpoint that i have been getting so much more sword and martial arts genre that i was just like. I don't know if that's for me got so much catch up on the we'll just talking about like shown in san enemy which is like adult anime and that's good the kind of stuff that's bled over into the western world and we've got like things i've gone popular recently. Are things like my here. Academia and like those are amazing but there's also like in japan. I've been so. I've been learning japanese last like five years so i am like constantly consuming this shit so i can learn and get more fluent and in japan. There is so much more than just that. There's there's so much slice of life anime. A cute stuff like comedy stuff and in america. We have yet to give a shit about that. Yeah or just give me the big guys with the muscles. Yeah and that's just. I i mean anime is not a genre. It's a medium. And mike era which is not too tied into other this to other garbage but i wish the marvel cinematic universe looked at comic books movies as not as a genre but as medium so that. It's like totally like i just saw shanxi and i'll give it some at that. It didn't feel like a lot of the other marvel movies and it's arguably the one of the more enjoyable ones in the last few days and then the third act is a little like they're very normal so insane and so in my opinion unearned like it's it's it's fun it makes you. I have no idea how i got there but like it goes in that second it does go adamy at the end like like full marvel movie which is like jackie chan. Bus stunts and fully. Just as bananas shang cheap in the group taxes. I right home offensive. Fight you listening us to love you. Baby i'm accompany you company man through and through bring me back i love you guys i love you. I need to play hercules but also come on. They'll be more practical effects in my show. Ever auditioning for static shock. So i just i can talk to you yeah yours. You're like his older brother narrow ones dot foot of him. The future that they get a background actor playland sciatica shock back issues. Shot curtis. That's i didn't even think of that. Of course in japan anime is like there's probably like every genre of entertainment. There's probably anime sports anime blank. Animate like oh yeah. It makes total sense. I switched my vpn to japan. Because i was tired of seeing like american commercials. Like when. I'm on youtube and mike. The quality of my commercials got so. What are you seeing like anime for like chips. Like all this this rule in america. We just have like a dude's telling me to shave my balls. And i don't know why that is in my like i don't know how i got my algorithmic. I've never searched for like shaving. Perfect or i looked up. Thera- guns like that's it but like i've never. I don't know why. I'm getting inundated with like i feel like it's podcasts. I'm going to take a sociological hypothesis. Here and see if i and potentially come across as closed minded racists so just the classic pitcher do you think that some of the stuff. That's in anime. Like we were talking about like the training and the honing your skills and getting better. Is that like culturally japanese. More than it's culturally american. Because i feel like american stuff like that. It's like grab the jewel. Then you have the power. Put on the yeah. Get the camera. And it's like americans are all quitting is no faa work on your how to sharpen the blade for like a decade before you can swing it and stuff like unamerican work for who told me this but like they were they were talking about just like story structure in general they are like you know a lot of a lot of like or just like i guess western stories are like you're born with it like you like you should be good like rocky run to the steps. And then he punched a couple of bags of meeting them. Like he's reading is that it does not like the of i. Guess that's why that's where he works at like he ultimately loses in like most of those movies but traditionally it's like. Oh yeah you're born your natural like your natural baseball player like you're a natural fighter. That's like an innate thing as opposed to being like oh yeah. You should like train like you. Don't become good at doing either become a good drawer by destroying once and like a click like you do it over and over and over again and i think also you never forget to tell you that peter parker didn't just get bit by a radioactive spider but he's also a genius and you're just like all right. Yeah dummy like me. Get bit by the spiderman power. Let me shoot around also another thing. That's interesting about those especially shows like my hero. Me where like everyone like so visit. No it's basically like x. Men like they go to special academy everyone has like eighty percent of the world has like superpowers blah blah blah blah. Learn to train it but like their whole thing is that like they're going there to get licenses to be officials superheroes like there's there's a whole over arching theme about like we can't use our power without asking someone else we're going to get in trouble whereas like about the idea of at the collective good it's like being the individual with that was like you know the american version that would just like fuck that i'm gonna use my flame thrower powers and burn up half the fucking school district. What i'm glad you brought that up. I mean we both have like hustle cultures and there. There's like there's like were ethic and then like once you work hard you just get to another plateau. You're just like oh. I'm nowhere near the level. I need to be now. There's another arc of me like working hard and then in america a lot of our superheroes are just like. Oh i got powers by some kind of accident cool. I guess i have the authority to fight crime now. I guess the question any kind of moral thing that i have going on talk laws or hand to hand combat in any way enter the streets and start immediately destroying muggers crimes of opportunity that people are doing because they have no other choice in life instead. Green is putting three clause in your guts because you're trying to steal bread feed your family. Imagine that's why like a show invincible written by i really liked brand kirkman and then now it's a show that everyone loves. It's kind of like. Yeah if when you go out and you try to save people from like alien invasions in the streets like a lotta people are gonna die in after like deal with that like it's not a you know just all spandex like laser beans defensible is one of my favorite comics of all time. I remember when they when they were making the walking dead. My wife was working at amc. And i met robert kirkman through her. And i was like dude. Look huge fan. Loved the walking dead but i can't wait to make an invincible show and he was. Yeah yeah yeah. Of course and i was like no. I love that show. I love that book. I'm so obsessed with that bug a. Yeah yeah yeah. And i was like in my head being like why am i talking like now grown up in the entertainment industry. Like leave that fucking guile. Just keep. i just looked like every other motherfucker at comic invincible. Mr gerke means dog is my favorite. I i mean. I do think it's legit cool to bring up. Something like like is not his most popular because even a bunch of walking. That's fan didn't even know about invincible. Until later and they're both amazing comics. I one of those assholes who was just like. Oh this shows good and everything but the comic book is better. I will say. I mean i fucking loved invincible like There's there's two seen that guy with me in particular one speaking of like you know just going out there like trying to save people like when he's getting his ass kicked by omni man he gets knocked that apartment building like he's trying to hold her up to save the woman in her kid and then like just collapses and like everyone dies like that shit fucking hurt but like when we when He's getting when he gets punched into the subway and like he his dad's using just like a steel battering. Rams like split. That fucking subway in two. I was like that's looking dope like that's such an interesting take on like what if superman was getting his ass whooped and he is like the is the shield of the city but also like he could be the. We're like he could take out. Everyone like if someone just use them in the right way. Like superman was asleep and you had the power to swim around his legs. You could like roy whatever you wanted like. He's heart like right like he's harder than a wrecking ball. Swung by his legs. Got enough speed to break shit. Yeah that's that's. I really dig that about invincible. It does feel like they were like well. What if you had limitless strength and speed what what would hand to hand combat. Look like and. I think they do a good job when he pummels face into the fucking dragon mosaic also into spanking because parents should never abuser. Children like cancelled. So what's different. I'm just saying. I made this spanking if both parties are consensual as for the parental snake. As a kid who was hit growing up. I'm going to. I'm going to be the one who breaks the cycle. Non existing kids and other persons. Like my dad did way worse to me. Oh cool that's like literally what my dad would say to me. He's like you don't even know what my father did to me. I'm like so he was worse than you. Fuck dude. this isn't cool. Oh sick well guess what. I don't like it. So i'm gonna do none of it got you. Don't hit me in the face or with a belt sick. I acted up in school. You're hitting me. Think about that canadian. Because i was being an annoying seven year. Yeah got it. yeah. I'm saddened teachers. You'll hit me even more. What was what was your guys. Foray into the to nominee block is what you guys for. Yeah i think my first one was like my first one was like robotic. That's got me into like the. I like anime. I saw those like that thirteen year. Old should have been watching what secure i saw that i begged my mom. She took me like fucking fye or whatever it was and got her son son. Pack whatever that fucking sore was and she got me the vhs. Akira and i got it for my birthday and none of my friends. We wanna fuck watch. This shit like what. China's friends on reading doing subs v does. You're like Guys it's under words. Come up on screen. Your friends are like what is this shit. You're like it's only two hours on her. Two hours long also incomprehensible to begin with like this year. You can see. You'll see a boob once you'll see one it's disturbing and that's enough to get me. Get my ass possible booby. i'll watch i. I stayed up when once. I got a tv in my room. And i was like thirteen or fourteen. Hbo dude yeah i would. It would be like midnight and it'd be like oh yeah brief nudity and i'd be like well edging until the scene and this psychological thriller and you're watching like all these like psycho sexual thrillers. You're like thirteen and you're like we are trying to ruin the ceo of this company. You're like stroking your digging. Please let me pop trash this that we're gonna watch. I mean this is really weird. Bow choke down crash steeped memory of like when mike. My cousin came over to. Hey do you wanna hang out. You want to go outside and play as they know most maybe one of the guy. She's one of the guys with the movie where like dislike high school. This girls guys just okay. She's got tits kiss yet so the premises like this girl wants to be one of the guys who she pretends to. She like pretends to dress in drag for for all of it and then like the the big pivotal scene. It's like she's confessing her love to her best friend that she's met and beasley is the as ooh gay. No i don't wanna do that at all. But then she flashes him and he's like oh this is actually pretty cool and they kiss whatever but like as a kid first pair of boots. I saw on tv. As i told you. I can't hang out i know there's a boobs narratives movies like i'll catch you afterwards. I'm enjoying that dude. Killer killer said on great pair to johnny lawrence bill. Billy's opco is the bad guy. In that mo- yeah white Weightlifting gloves that's burned in. My head is like the coolest thing you can have is. He's remain idle right like you. Faster yourself out. Definitely war fingerless leather gloves eighth grade to school based solely on like streets of rage and yet characters like that much better reason than everyone else wore fingerless gloves because a like jack skelton and they glove yes. I eventually would meet people who wore like the hot topic. Loves cut the thumb hall in their long-sleeved shirt. Or whatever but the fingerless gloves i was wearing. Were leather weightlifting like mask. I was the only ninth grader. Who was wearing gloves like that to school or eighth grader. And reading muscle and fitness magazine. Indiana to rip stink. Do i really do dress like a basketball punching barrels in the playground. Just interesting for me. No shirt but one strap on. And i remember in streets of rage that when hagar would turn left or turn right the strap on his chest with john to the shoulder that i was just like as a kid realize the animation logic is continuity is wrong. I get it seemed. Like i like to think it was fixing this rap. Really facet hag are was the mayor of the city and and a pro wrestler dirty. He wasn't afraid which frigid. Sit some fucking ivory tower. He got down there and it'd be really funny imagining him. You're like what a weird character a mayor. Who's a huge bodybuilder. Remember the governor of california talking about arnold for one. Second hopes republican. And he's now got like the best politics of and he's the only person who like developed in a good way like everyone else is like further and further right any one of your like action heroes. You love growing up there. Just arnold is like i worked in republican politics and moving away from the right stevens to go like a russian national now is any lake steven seagal is like he's whatever. Yeah whoever will support him whenever proud boys get behind him. He's just say sure. Whatever i do tired to to have you seen. Have you seen the picture of media. Care brody that. Give them to you. Can bugs buddy carried it so fucking gave it to them at a at like he was meeting with like these intense as what you're call i don't have oh i downloaded the zoom and lost all my old backgrounds including so i was trying to get it up with despot strongmen like it's like oh they're belarussian. Dictator is giving seagal a tour of his arm. And it's you ever see like garrett. Yeah if you ever see like a demonstration videos that he's done recently slater very sycophantically or at least they're getting paid to like a do flips whenever he touches them to make them look like he's a real bad. His martial arts demonstrations look like me and dig dappling each other up in the air men kind of fashion as fully grimace like. He's got a grimace bill now. He's got attitude teacher ass that terrible to pay that's like wait is blacker than black. Just spray painted on. Eddie munster fucking widow spent man so funny what are what are some tropes from an may that we're now seeing are there any tropes from anime or ideas from anime that we're now seeing stolen for like mainstream culture or mainstream entertainment in any way i mean speaking of shing like i'd say i mean that entire like the the last fifteen minutes that don't want can we spoil it i don't want to spoil it There's a cure you won't support. I don't care. But i haven't seen any ca. Okay well i'll i'll spoil it in so this is your spoiled warming fast forward however long. Don't ever listen to my podcast again if you have issues. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Fuck you shanked. When this episode comes out shanke will have been out for like nine days. And if you still care about spoilers then you should have seen it by now. Listen to pocket. I know that i'm like others movies. Went out for two weeks. I'm not allowed to expect what like i used to. The are the giants games on sundays. Because i taught improv took improv. On sundays for forever and i would. Dvr the game. And then one. I would try not to get spoiled by seeing another game. Seeing the highlight. So i'd have to like some tunnel vision one sunday. I wore a giants jersey stupidly to go teach improv and then walking back to the subway and someone's like thirty one thirty crazy and i'm like and i'm like no. This is my fault. It's sunday china. I deserve to hear that. So so broody. I'll catch up. There's a in the in the in like the third act like they awaken like a dragon. Which like it looks. i mean. It's a traditional dragon jinlong if you watch dragging mosey which like cool like they do a thing like the like in the opening of dragon ball where like dragons flying and like the kids running decided like that's really cool but like at the end. He like he fights like an evil dark dragon and like there's a moment where he like goes flying up into the sky like anime so jagmohan go to me. This sounds like lego biochemicals. Yeah it's wild. It comes out of nowhere but like east shoots down like the ten rings that he's taken power of orange now because they're good in the data had them because they're bad Color theory so he shoots him into the dragon and like he's floating down the waters like the range shooting gophers body. Then he like he does like a kata he's doing it caught in the year like he shoots down the final thing and like it blows up and john explosion. And you're like oh seen this fight scene. A million times every enemy looking cool seeing it in live action livenation and quotes their digital but shanty himself is live soaring down. We've like officially reached the point where someone wanted to do. A live action dragon ball z. They really truly could make like really good. And then i saw like zack. Snyder wanted to make on like oh not you. Though not yet. Finally as time watching his family get murdered. Or it's like it's not having fun. Coco's got drinking problem. He actually hates fighting in this. When it's not as fun and another thing is that you guys saw skull island cosco island y- Yeah so there's a that the guy that directed that as a huge eastern like the new gun movies a huge anime fan. But like the shot like you. I see kong like insulin against the giant sun. Like in the bag that directly for this anime called neon jensen's evan where like there's very similar to seem like a giant robot is coming in like you silhouetted in like the the setting signing looks book dopes. But he's like yeah. This is direct. One from one. Like i took that from that because i love that series. Like that's like my choice to that. Yeah yeah. I feel like you can do it with the matrix to five scenes that are derived. Khan academy like darren aronovski. Yeah he's like you ripped off perfect blue for like a black swan or whatever happens all the time even was it paprika and What was the what was the the dreams inside inception like a lot of that imagery was taken from from. Yeah every closing durkin director. Just secretly watches enemy tries to act like we never have heard. I- scorsese i'm picturing scorsese watching a bunch. Because he he he. He famously loved sailor moon. So that's going to be the next. That's gonna last picture. Oh that'd be honestly sick robert deniro as that would be fucking sick yay. Da young eight year old like he did in the irishman as he fails to kick fiscal hamanaka talked to me about neon genesis. Van john or whatever it is yes we will. I've been seeing a lot of people talk about lately because and friends. Heather anne campbell and The how did this get played people talking about it. A shit ton you guys talk. Yeah so one of my favorite directors on oh is behind that and just for context like for example like in america. We got power injures like late nineties right in japan. They've been doing versions of that show for Since like since we've been having old school batman like they've been having it for decades and decades they've had like all these like metal heroes all kinds of stuff on top of doing stuff like godzilla and so you know. Mommy like gammarra ultraman. Like all that stuff is called. Tokyo sought sue and it which basically just means special effects Heat back on is a huge fan of that. He's the director behind Add on galions and in recently. He's done stuff like Shin godzilla which a lot of godzilla fans see as the best godzilla movie. He's doing like an ultraman movie. That's gonna come. He's gonna do a comedy writer. These are like these are like the top three lakeside franchises japan And evan. Gillian came out in the nineties. And it was a makah show that wanted to subvert what mecca shows. Were doing because we already had like gundem's and stuff like that. We already had a people making money off of selling toys for staff and this guy was just like i wanna make version of that where the main characters are just like depressed as hell and i'm like seated there. There are consequences to having a fourteen year old kid. Get inside giant military piece of hardware like this like Speaking of virtually the first episode is like the kid shows up all these almac enemies the like a fourteen year old kid shows up in the middle battling like gets his robot. Like that's what happened. You get the gun you get the able. You get whatever this when. The kids shows up shinji. The main character shows up. He gets whisked away he gets put to the robot and then he goes into the fight and then it cuts to him waking up in the hospital. Like the very next shot like you. Don't even see him get to the fight. You're like yeah you got his fucking ass whipped like that's what would happen if you would actually put a fourteen year old kid inside the and inside the series and like the rest of the series like billy big deconstruction of what might one every single type of trauma you could ever possibly think about in the actual show like everyone is it has their own palm luther dealing with all these kids only only like thirteen fourteen. Kids can like pilot these things that's was built until there's a lot of their impact but imagine if like you saw power rangers and then like they did an episode or something where like billy was like shooting up heroin or something like that advocate. And they didn't even fight like that's evan. Galen is like. Yeah but it's back is because they to the series was twenty six episodes And they like a very weird surreal. Last words director had a mental breakdown. Basically and the last couple of episodes are Also a mental break goes from like picture locked animation to like still like not seen like pictures like it's very very experimentally animation has dope but like fans like what the fuck is like nothing had wrapped up get ended on like a very big cliffhanger like we see ending to that so they like all right. We're gonna give you a movie in the gabia movie like two years after that that also wrapped up some stuff them even bigger so they like all right. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to make four movies that are going to be like retailing's of this wink. Wink retailing's mike. We're going to lose those. Who like they released like four those over the past like what ten fifteen years in like the last one just came out this year. That's why the dialogue is heavy around because the four that's explain just dropping like a sort of wrapped everything up in like in. I think are very beautiful way in the best way that it possibly could but then also it's just like some fucking amazing animation like there's a scene that always yell about where like there's a a characters like on top of another kirk beating the shadow of them and it's like it's like a handheld shot where like you're following them as doing like how the fuck did they do this and like i think what they did is that they just did a three model and then they like mapped over like two d animation over so you could have like a camera fooling around like i fucking love animation. Shit like that like that's awesome. It's so fucking cool that it may not make it. It barely made sense when i was watching it but i like the animation is fucking undeniable. I can't. I can't even fought the animation. I request you dmc or messaging me what i have to watch i for. Oh yeah for sure. Yeah just started with the first episode figure. Oh you're watching neon genesis. Yeah there's all kinds of people who will say you should like you can like skip this or are you like There's an abridged version of this episode. That's better fuck that. I watch all of evan gillian. One weekend with my best friend. When i was fifteen he had a box set we all. We ate chicken fingers and we sat in his room. We watch the whole thing and we went to school on monday fucking depress and that's there's only experience. Well i look forward to being depressed upon finishing the series. I need that in my life. Things are toogood in a mirror right now. Well before we get outta here. Let me ask this question. If any shitheads the mouth breathing. Listeners this podcast who aren't into anime at first off respond to this with animals respond to the tweet about this with the anime you guys because listeners. Because i i'm taken rechose but for for the for the uninitiated. What would you recommend to some people to as their first four four ray and whether it'd be movie or tv series whatever it might mean you wanna go first birdie i if you're just looking to see kind of like an enemy that has a little bit of everything a little bit of comedy a little bit of action and really impressive animation. I would check out At least the first season of show called mob psycho It mob cycle one hundred. It came out a couple years ago. The story's really fun it's mostly about these two characters. One of them is like a really powerful psychic boy who is like really unpopular at school and he wants people to like him but he doesn't want it to be because of the powers So he just like tries to like start working out and stuff anyway and like tries to like be a better person and then his i guess i want to see like manager. Who is this spirit. Detective who does not have any powers at all and is only interested in exploiting this kid. And there's there's a lot of fun fights in it and there's a lot of jokes in it and the animation switches up all the time it's beautiful. It's there's a lot of close off going on. What about you that's awesome. Yeah i i have to. I think If you want to see something that's like just a blueprint that that influenced like just but not only a bunch of mandate but just like western cinema in general Ghost in the shell. The original animated ghost in the shell. If you're in like film nawar if you're into like blade bladerunner any of that shit like this was like the archetype like particularly obviously like the newer blade runner but like that's great great fantastic A really cool story Some really great choreography comes like not even like fight scenes but just like cinematography is fantastic. Funny to say that about an animated thing but cinematography. That movie is wild scene. Akira is wild to both of those. I highly recommend but also if you're looking for something that's like a a sampler at checkout robot carnival it's like a A nineteen mike. Mike 1987 like a Film with like basically a bunch of dope like Dope animation director of the time. Making much. sure it's like people did like a hero people that did you go to the show all that stuff like a bunch of different types of stories like you'll have like some action stuff. You'll have some quiet of stuff you'll have some some humor comedy like it It's fun. I think it's on amazon. Prime i watched it on the air a couple of years ago so like definitely check those those two out also suggest going to ex- videos in typing in anti cool anime from per search my twitter feed if you're looking a lot of videos i currently watching finland sagamore episode teen and i'm fucking loving it some episodes or mad slow and respective and talking about like danish and british land rules within some other episodes has a fucking nine year. Old with two daggers. It's so fun. The violence is great. And there's something about inv- inland saga. Which they're like viking adjacent even though it's fun to watch blond viking guys speak japanese something that like your brain like i literally told my i told my wife. Just come in and watch one minute of this and just watch like blond. Scandinavian dudes just screaming and japanese. It's lighter it's just something you don't catch anywhere else and it just looks. It looks so fucking. Read that that i like the thing i like about. It is like they have a lot of like warrior coach. Which i'm always a fan of. Oh he thought. Finn is a good fighter. I look forward to fighting him. Yeah the reason for that is like samurais literally come from their culture and they just have the have that honor shit like really baked into their most interesting era of history periods dudes. Thank you so much for coming on high and mighty now have like a long list of adult animation to watch. My wife does not like Shows that yell while she's asleep. And that's when i watched like most of my own programming between ten thirty and one am after. She's on the couch before i go. We should go to bed. But i can't watch inland saga or rick and morty to shout out zig zag too much yelling and she's like i don't wanna hear yelling when i'm asleep so that's what i in my office and i'm just like now i'm smoking weed. I'm forty years old. I'm in a room at the door. Smoking weed watching finland sock volume and my wife comes in. And it's like don't you have any work to do. That or am i saying a slur and you guys are only weak and really. It's this weird term that came up in the last twenty years to describe people who Were like geeks or in. Anime was like a derogatory term. I guess it was mostly for white people to be honest but We mostly use it because it's a cool name for a podcast and create great fun and then if you just like do a little bit of work. There's there's two dark. Yeah we're used to taking the power back in words anyway. So yeah yeah yeah. It's basically. I was yelling at at about love for forty minutes. And then it's also we own a network so we put it out when we fuck it. Put it out. Say come in expecting us to have an episode out every week. We're not going to do that. But we do episodes. 317: Fast 9 (w/ Griffin Newman)
"This is a head gum podcast. I welcome back to another episode of high and mighty interesting standing since two hundred eighty eight from the south shore. Best so county johnny. Gee i live my life. One quarter mile edit silent. Arthur gabor's arthur. Gimme shout up. You had to never add me. But i have returning to the high mighty studio. He's my family. Law familia himself from the plant check broadcasting. Amazon's a gorilla. You know man. I have to say john. We were talking just a moment ago before we started recording. I've been recovering firm. Some health shit and my energy is completely depleted. That really did the trick that that opening. I've never heard you ramp up that hard. That fast i it was. It was five second intro. That's what it was. Not even ten second intro. You owed me a five second intro no disparagement to my other guests but the excitement level is the i want to get through the intro to talk about fucking movie fast nine holy shit. If you're just tuning into this episode randomly griffin has been on high and mighty multiple times tarring fourth fast and furious episodes. Yes the fourth fast and furious episode. We've done the whole familia then we've done awesome shaw then something else in there and then we did. We did an episode up until seven than eight hubs and shaw and then this but we should also mention play. Yeah too fast. You fast yes. I'm blank check my podcast. But you live in la. I live in new york previously. Impre- cova times. We were purists about this medium. Yeah said like well. New fast and furious made comes out. We have to wait until one of us is in the other person city to do like i think one additional time i came to la one time you came to new york this time. We're just like let's get it fucking out within a week. Yeah well the cova times is like. I don't know what i'm going to be in new york. You don't know when you're in. La let's fucking get it. I just saw friday night recording. This this episode comes out tomorrow. We're claiming it wednesday. It's the other thing you were like. I've recorded the next two months of episodes. I'm pushing this one out. In twenty four hours. I tried to take the summer off and then totally was like. Oh i should do an episode fat. So i just bumped nine weeks of episodes out to turn around twenty four hours as you should and then okay so last night. You texted me as we were sort of like confirming shet- and said fuck. Should i go see it a second time and i said to you i have now seen it twice. I think the movies very dense. I value the fact that. I've seen it twice before i'm talking about on mike because i think there's a lot to get into their. Did you see the second time. Have you only seen it once i am. I could not go a second time. Totally fun would not. i'm not. I don't think it's totally fine. Because i- friday night. I was on a fucking theme park ride the whole time. You know what i needed. I needed to get back in line and it again and pay attention to some more details. Because i was literally. My wife can attest this she went with me and friend of both of our shows. Bray lock. I was sitting with him and he went to the whole the crazies screening that demi and kevin porter and everyone organiz amazing amazing family of people. They're amazing people. Addy was dressed as a corona bottle tank tops livable war but the true highlight of this experience was the movie fucking froze like nine minutes in yes and they were like what are going to jump back a couple of minutes once we get it fixed and then everyone starts chanting from the beginning from them again because amc didn't do twenty minutes of ship before so a lot of people got there during toronto's dad's race. Oh gosh because everyone assumed oh we have thirty five minutes to get in our seats and then the movie was just so the movie starts over. Now we're in a rocky horror picture screening for eight minutes and it's a blast. I don't like call out movies situations but it's something you just watched. Yeah and we still have two hours two and a half hours after. I'll allow it absolutely just like call and response with van and his head head. It was so awesome. I mean i'll say this. We're doing an episode on blank check. I think will be on our patriot on feed about. We rented out a screen at the draft house in new york and invited like a lot of our guests and friends and people who work on the show. And all of that. And we'll we'll do. They'll be an episode coming about that. I think next month because it's could be a little bit more of a complicated edit because it's got multiple sources and we got ambitious with it. But so i been not to delve into all this by hinted at this already. I spent the last several months struggling to get my gallbladder removed right the source of like unbearable pain for me and i was stuck in sort of like the medical bureaucracy hamster wheel and then once. I finally got the appointment then. They suddenly had concerns. That i had other health issues. That would have put the surgery at risk that my surgery got on scheduled. I've spent the last like three months four months. Really kinda white. Knuckling it right and struggling and at a time where it's like the world is reopening. I'm finally vaccinated. I wanna get back into doing shit. And i couldn't right like i was like once again sort of benched in in a different way the monday before. I'm supposed to get the surgery the first time before. It's canceled Our buddy from the podcast. A great film critic david. Erlich king of the his edit every year is a highlight for me his twenty-five top movies or whatever he does that montage i fucking love it so he text me and says i have a screening pass for f nine tomorrow. You come and officially become the greatest friend i've ever. They screened at super early because it was getting released so much earlier in asia so they like sh started showing it to critics two months before it came out here because they knew the embargo was going to break. Spoilers would come out. And whatever so i saw like two months ago right but i saw it in a screening with literally less than ten people. Total lie because it was. It was still so early in movies being opened here. Well i we went to see it at the lincoln square. Amc on sixty eighth and broadway. And i walk in there. He he told me he was like. I think it's not going to be a very big screening. I go in there. It's in one of the smaller screens. And there's just no one in there like it's like him and i and then maybe eight other critics like no one else has brought anybody nor the critics are there and he was like yet they're screening quiet place part two next door like more of the critics are in there and most of them saw the movie a year ago when it was supposed to come out but now a rushing to see it again because they don't remember it and that review like that movie comes out and ten days or whatever right unsurprising. Quiet place two dozen stick with you for one full year. Look it's enjoyable movie. I enjoyed it. It was my first movie back. I kind of wish. I saved my virginity for fast nine because the experience was markedly better. Shut quiet place to come in with the juice of just love of movies guys. Despite my sort of math feelings towards brzezinski. i thought opening that movie. The baseball shit was so fun. Spielberg asked and then. I don't care for the rest of the rules. And all that and everyone talking about the dead director as a legend and a hero like your father was a god damn main. He was the best human being alive and he's just directing and writing. This is such a funny layer. It is kind of incredible. How much of that movie is character saying. I'm not your father. I'll never be as great as your father and then like saying to the daughter like you're good. You might be the next your father. We only have this one person as fired. A benchmark yeah michael jordan of humans but yes pleasant into the screening i go into the screening and i have a great fucking time watching but i watch. It was zero crowd response right. And this is a little bit of a fucking roller. It is absolutely abs-. That's why i'm bringing this up. So i've seen him twice. But the first time i was really just kind of digesting it as a text. I was not getting an experiential. Viewing of it you know. I've seen the movie twice. But only one time i saw it properly. Yeah i see. I needed the flip. I needed that one screening and i needed the one where i'm on half the amount of edibles and i'm like able to really unpack. What's going i mean. I don't. maybe i needed that. But here's the flip of that. Look the first time. I'm just sitting there and i've been holding on to this movie for a year and so many ways and i have to imagine this was a similar thing for you like this movie has been the carrot at the end of the stick throughout the entire pandemic for sure not. I want to see this movie. But also like i trust that they are saving this for theaters. Not only that are saving until theaters should actually be showing movies. I said that. I said that to my wife. I'm like this will be them. I'm promising you now. I will not watch fast nine on. Hbo max i will. I was two years but not right now right right. But i was like i refuse to watch it the first time that way a friend asked me. He was like the movies done. What if they sent you a link and i was like wouldn't open it wouldn't watch it was seriously i was at this point. It's symbolic it's like. If i never get to see fast. I in theaters. then the world has never recovered right. It was my it was. You're right marker of like this means the pandemics over for me and society right in like ten at had like the nolan shit like him pushing it prematurely and whatever but it was so clear that like universal wasn't the studio that was rushing to like put stuff on a streaming service. Right like trolls world tour on i tunes aside. They sort of like made their deals with the theater chains early. They figured everything out and they were very clear that they were like. This is a theatrical movie. We're not doing anything fucking else with this. And we're also not releasing this in theaters until it is safe. Enough and theaters are healthy enough at this can actually make an equivalent amount of money to what it would have done before the pandemics great. That's the moment i know. Things are getting back to normal as it were right is when that movie comes out and even just the fuck vain like. It's been a long time but the movies are back trailer. It's just like really. Yes that's like. I wish like fucking biden was giving speeches. Yes right like this thing has been like. It's been the the light at the end of the ocean that i've just been steering towards this entire fucking time for way for way more people than we think to including people people who are yes. I think there's just something iconic about. Yes this blockbuster that sort of maybe the most diverse casting of tv of a movie in our lifetimes just like jammed in and it's like it's coming it's big it's american it's global. It's everyone comes together family. It feels like the movie symbolizes the and of course for me and you guys who like. We've been living the fast and furious lifestyle for decades. Now this still aids but also let's be honest only one quarter mile at a time. Four hundred meters and then reset of course over and over and over but this fucking movie seemed to mean a lot to a lot of people. Yeah and a couple other things on their one. I think some people finally and this is just maybe an organic thing that would have happened. The people who are the most cynical and holding out on this franchise. I think finally kind of fucking broke down and went like we're nine in people vouch for these this hard. Even the fact that people were more critical of hobson. Shaw and eight. I made some of the the holdouts. Go like okay. There does seem to be some discernment here the fans as movie right. There's something going on here. I also think the amount of people. I know who just binged all of them in the last month. Dude i was gonna say the same thing i feel like part of the energy of nine was a lot of people go and i've never even watched these things it's the tail end of the pandemic. Maybe i'll watch one through eight. Because i heard these movies. Seeing them at a theater is like a fucking rock concert. And do i want to be left out of that. That feels like a fun thing to do. Exactly and and it's it's a ways away. It's in june. We got time. We can wait for it. Yeah but i know people who did that. Binged last march and i know people who did that inge a week ago right d. Mato our good friend fucking genius jupiter. Did it like. I know a shit on a people like the we. These guys like they were powering through them. Podcast we're covering. Let's fuck you. Cover the franchise leading up to nine. I i invited. Jd to the screening. We were doing on the friday before the friday. The screening was happening and he went call one a day and he just watched one a day until he had done it. You know i think addie similarly did a similar thing. She was messaging me while she was watching them all for the first time because she was like on a commercial shoot in mexico. You know like my yourself in a hotel room and she was just like well. I land back in the states on thursday night. I should have just seen all these movies by that point. I mean i watched one eight and more or less leading up to it. And i've seen them all countless times. I wanted to soak it in again. But i think there was that build and i think it was that like this is this is a movie that really is experiential. You know where to be able to see this with strangers or friends or a mix of both means something told him as much as like quiet place part to a film that i think if you're going to watch it you should absolutely see a theater because it's best with that level of immersion and whatever it's it's not the same thing as this and guess it just felt like they're going to wait you know it was the first movie pushback i feel like by the pandemic think it was that in bond were right next to each other right. What the differences that fast. It was like the moment they announced it. They said we're pushing back to mate. Twenty twenty one like his bond even was like. Oh there's a pandemic were pushing back. Six months fast and furious was just like see you in a year. Which was the moment where i went. This is bad like things are bad. Things are going to be really bad but it also meant like they're showing the correct amount of caution correct amount of caution and also a little bit of fucking calling their shot of sorry. This is a summer blockbuster right. And if it's not this summer it's next summer ain't that summer it's twenty twenty two bitch like we're like we're going to yards. We're not going to be god damn new lawn in every two weeks ago like sorry. We're being pushed back another two weeks until eight months later. You go like never mind. It's on a streaming service. But you have to pay more. They were very clear in their messaging. And what they were doing they push back one time. Big fan just runs. I still twenty twenty one to two may twenty twenty one and then in february as vaccinations were starting to get out there then they were like this is the final push back. It's june twenty fifth. That's it's official. The movies are back. And that's like that's just the power of universal the size of this movie that a they can confidently go. We'll we'll wait a year. We were making ten like we know we gotta make ten. So we'll just wait a year for nine and then also the confidence in universal of like this. This movie is gonna fucking work like it's going to need it like people are going to be needing this on the other end. Don't be patient. Think big picture. We need to know what young dom looks like. Yeah so so. This is the first time. I'm watching it. I'm just kind of trying to reconcile my emotions. And a lot of ways of like i've been waiting a year for this. I'm not going to experience what i've been waiting for. But i'm just getting to at least see this movie on a screen with proper immersion but i'm also just kind of like a lot of that. Screening is me just ruling out my fears right because needless to say if this movie had been bad i would have lost my fucking mind arguably i've never put more on a movie being good. I was not like if this landed like eight for me. I was going. I was going to be a little distraught. That's gonna he's like it's. It's going to be a little bit of a problem for me. It really is. Because i've just put an unfair amount on this movie. But how could i not at this point right. It's more than a movie as we're saying it's representing all this other shit and not to mention it's also at this point representing the future of theaters like this is the movie that everyone was leaning forward in their chair and going like if this hits than the movies are back east ring and if not it's fucking done i consider that like the meta of the business of it. All like this is indicative of like okay cool. We can make blockbusters granted a franchise blockbuster but at least not comic book. You know what i mean. This is at least as as absurd as it is to offer this distinction at this point. This is at least an original franchise rather than a franchise based on like this his ip at this point but like a fuck anyone who calls in earnest and be it's not because it looked disfranchised fucking built itself from the dirt. It's like an unwired story right. We've invested in this. Because the shouldn't have been a franchise and all of that argument. It's arguably too many franchises and five locks into a newer style that matches the times more and very like like vin has been very good at and i keep giving vin credit because he puts his name on fi. Comes back hard. Yeah and he does a lot of fucking behind the scenes machinations. And i you give him credit because he's like we're just gonna make it bigger. That's the answer is make the movies bigger. Bang all small about family. The fucking thing. I mean look like like. Erlich like the movie a lot less than i did. Bright give it not his way right. But i thought he'd put it so perfectly and he was saying this. Almost as like this franchise is so weird. I was like yes. You just summed up. Exactly i love about this franchise. Is he said this movie so bizarre. Because it's like the ninth one and it is at the same time unquestionably the most overblown the most absurd. The most ridiculous they go to fuck and space which has been like the thing the whole time right here a bit like the tawdry is when the half to it's inevitable and go to space in a way that you go to space like the fucking movie. The explorers not you think that when they go to space although being spacesuits miss fighting inside like a space to out perfectly no but like great judgment. That's exactly what they should have done. If they went like full fucking like the martian on this i think it would have broken the franchise which is always bring a pontiac into the atmosphere. That still. yeah. I mean my friend who doesn't see. These movies was texting me questions because he was just like. I'm just trying to get like a mental image in my head fair. Does the car still have wheels as it like a spaceship. And i'm like no. It's very much a car doesn't have wheels. It does have a rocket so it has thrust at is steered via the steering wheel and nas all right using us but he was like. It's early simultaneously the most absurd in that sense but also the most granular like vin is like if we're going to go to space. We also have to spend thirty minutes of screen time going back to two days in young dominic toronto's life yeah right and that's and that is. That is the magic of dom because gulf of those of the magic vin. The both of those sound awful on paper. It sounds insane and then you're like i want to put them both in the same movie and by the way those are two of one set pieces in your wait why i want to dig into this game but i the stat that i only just realized this box office nerd because like other movies that have been doing well in the pandemic all had weird hybrid releases in some way right like tenant was the one that didn't and really underperformed and was in theaters for fucking five months made far less than christopher nolan movies. Should more people have definitely wash. Hbo max and then since then things have been successful have been like khan vs godzilla. And what have you where it's like on. Hbo max the same day. A quiet place had a good opening is is doing well was the first new movie to make one hundred million dollars cross that line but also like that's part of this deal where everything's going on paramount plus after forty five days. How well people know that. How it's been communicated i don't know f nine is like complete old school theatrical release. Here's the movie. it's only in theaters. When can you see it at home. I don't know when we feel like it as soon as it's done making money here you'll hear about a dvd release date right right. And then i'll just be available in the ways you can watch movies before we're not putting this thing on your fucking lap right yeah. Vod and whatever you want. It had the biggest opening weekend since. Rise of skywalker. So not only. Is it the biggest thing since the pandemic but like plus the three months before i was just say plus a little bit of time. Yeah plus sonic the hedgehog plus bad boys three like other movies that were widely wildly successful. You know it was a big opening. But when i saw and i texted you no spoilers but just a couple of things i want. You know one of the first things i said to you camera which i had the text there with you david because we were like we did our too fast episode the day after we were originally record that night and i said guys we have to reschedule. Because i got invited to see david and i more understanding than it sounds like you got it. I was like. I need this guys. But i can't remember which thing i said to just david which ones i said to both of you and the texture whatever the two things first of all david incredible universal logo modification. We're dorks for anytime you change the logo saying and action boys. We talk about that all the time. Some of them so bad still so fun. One the second thing. I said to you i said gabor's there's a casting in this. That is going to make you so fucking happy. In terms of the referential reality of why. They're using that actor in that position. And i bring these things up because the fucking open of this movie of just classic early nineties universal logo right going with the grain immediately. Go what why. What are they doing here and in the movie starts and you go like osha. Justin lin is trying to mirror the look of the first fast and furious. Yup he is shooting like low film. Stock anamour fiqh right like grainy textured. And you're on the fucking raceway and you realize you're watching papa. Toronto doing the rounds right and then one of the first actors you see in this movie. Because he's wearing the helmet. We've talked a lot about puppets ratto casting. In the past. They ended up casting a guy an actor that moment where i was like. Is this going to be the helmet. Gonna come off. And it's going to be fucking like whoever it's going to be. I truly don't is going to be vin diesel and like some sort of like very possible face you recognize in this movie. Is michael rooker playing a fucking pit crew member which must have just made you so god damn happy i was so pumped to see rooker but also to go like. You're doing like days of thunder. Yes you're putting his nose up in his racing. Yeah right right fucking. It's so it's so fun because that just got goosebumps talking about right now because it yes it just feels like they know people love movies like if you like fast now you love movies. Maybe you'll get this little reference. I mean bill. Simmons is in that scene to allegedly and ignore that. But here's what i like about. It also is a pattern that they've had for a long time with these movies. Which is you know when you're adding a new cast member. There's a premium on someone who has their own history with cars in movies right. Yes right like stadium was exciting and was fan demand. Dry because because he's the transporter. It's like you work these people in your like. Oh fuck yes in a car move in a car movie right like even kurt russell he stunt man mike like these yell have some kind of not only carr experienced but like genre overlap. Kind of shit that there's just a canonise to and the movie never calls it out. They don't give any winking line wearing mellow yellow leather jacket or something like that right but it just kind of like well in that same kind of like analog parallel casting. If we're going to set this around like a fucking speedway then you should get a guy who's been a good fucking character actor and a speedway movie before that immediately. I'm just sort of like this is not how i was expecting. The movie to start is very different vibe. I don't know where they're going with this A couple years ago my friend. I think through like three degree connections of like he had a friend who was an internet universal heard from an exact developing the script. Whatever fed me like some details. I had told you as well where i was like. I hear there's a lot of young. Don flashback stuff. It's all about bringing in a brother that we didn't know about before and they're doing the space thing. Yeah and and those were the three things. I knew as of like two three years ago but i wasn't very clear on the specifics of how those things were going to be done or or to. What end didn't know it was going to be satellite last minute rescue right. Tashin roman and likewise. I just sort of imagined like oh. They're reckoning in this brother. There's going to be one sequence or the explain where the brother was. I the one thing. I knew i had a different friend. Who auditioned for kenny. Linder the scumbag racer from the guy from chew blood place right. So he sent me those sides and i read those and i was like oh fuck. They're doing kenny lender. All the names have been changed and the specifics have been changed to try to keep top secret. I read this. Is kenny lender. This is the race. This is the wrench seen immediately was able to identify exactly what it was within the mythology. So that's all. I knew and i was like i imagined there's one scene where they're just going to do. The flashback to the ranch incident you know. Yeah we're to the dad dying or set up the brother or whatever. It was the other thing i had heard. Was that like. Oh the brother thing is going to be sort of revealing him to be the architect of all of this which made me very dubious because you're like worst case scenario. That's the fucking like. Spectre move. That i think sucks where like christoph waltz shows up and he is just like actually. I've been your brother the entire time. Also the last three. John james bond movies didn't really matter they were all just kind of dummy test that i put you through. Yeah i that move. And then there's also the cliche mission impossible move where it's like the people you are working for are actually bad you retroactively ghost protocol or whatever. Those are such standard like six movie for six movie. In the franchise moves so we have a lot of trust in the franchise but also like eight was a knock hubs and shaw was a knock. He's three ideas. On paper. All sound a little bit dodgy like how does this pull off the fact that you get this opening sequence and it is just in isolation the cold open of the worst moment of toronto's entire light and then they cut away. I'm immediately left with like. Oh they're going to like godfather part to this like they're going to keep going back and forth between the timelines which already shows kind of dramatic ambition. That i feel like these movies don't usually have you know. I think it's the sort of like vin. Has this energy where. He's like the football player who joined the drama club. Yes and he's like the eleventh best actor in the cast but there's something special about him and just like movie we're making movie like we're making a show and everyone kind of get around. I'm like this is kind of weirdly inspiring having this and so he makes these like ardi choices. That only someone who's socialist boss. Yes yeah and someone who is so confident in their showing their soft quote unquote soft size. And he's just got that like what he thinks is artistic bone in his body. This movie features a sort of abstract life flashing before meadows is moment where where he walks through his past like he shoulder at the pass a room at different moments of his light. Yeah yeah and that's an it's in fast nine in the same movie instead features at dream a jeep dry vertical on a rope bridge. Two things are in the same fucking movie. And that's the magic and the power in my. That's that's sequences. Like five minutes. Long is nearly wordless. I mean he says nothing just quietly walking into rooms and reliving his trauma. It's incredible ship but like yes that first moment when you cut away from him screaming the car on fire back to just like him at the the getaway house. I sort of went. Okay i like where this is going. I like the way they're setting this up right. I like that. We're having a bifurcated narrative here and that clearly. There's unfinished business there that we're going to go to. You're not just dropping in one scene to read con detail and then then you're in the house right now the familiar p- right here. He is waiting for the first time and the last time it happens in every fast movie are just too great. You're like right everybody's back and then it's like you know and then at the end it's like we did it fam- like those are my favorite moments. It is kind of wild. How many of these movies end with the exact same final set piece which is sit around and picnic table and evacuated in the same backyard. So the one that always completely blown up i. It's another thing that like fate fucked up. Is that the end. Scene is on a fucking like rooftop of a penthouse apartment instead to clear reason and they're not drinking corona makes no sense. It's gotta be a barbecue. Santos arguing about cooking. I love so. I re watched podcast like it's one thousand nine hundred ninety great podcast. Philip is cove in kanai bark. They're doing a series on two thousand nine. So i re watched anchor sand for that yesterday and rewatch bantu laris as well and i. I can't find my source for this. But i swear to god i read this at some point. The other guy just was kind of like. I don't like acting i don't want to be in these movies anymore. Like it remains so frustrating that they're not still part of the team and everything. Yeah then santos will come in and do like one scene at the end and be like. I still love you guys. And they'll be like wears done omar and he's like i don't know he's doing some shit. He sucks cooking. It's always like we got the. Don't worry about it right. And they had their one brief fucking moment in fates where they sort of like literally. Have a shop where you reveal like. Oh they were the guys under the masks or whatever. But i still want them to full fledge. Be back on the team. Despite that i kinda respect that the other guy was like. I don't know i. This is my. He's anti the movie but he's like. Both of them are touring musicians right. And he's like i'm tired. I don't want to set the when a movie might. Aren't you lucky that you get to listen to me. Record ed's and you have no idea what. Gabor's here wanna talk to you about a podcast i enjoy. It's called green eggs and dan a great podcast from the multi-talented danna doot. He's an actor writer restaurant tour and comedian. Haven't checked it out yet on each episode of his podcast. Dan quizzes a famous guests about a very personal topic. Their fridge this. He's got guests like legendary chef. Uh subscribe and give them a listen to their pod. Listen to dan green eggs and dan. It's fun talking. Fridges food all the good stuff. I just love the fact that like all these people are still around. And i guess whether we actually care not the care the movie gives all these characters like we get every former gearhead. Every former tash is in this movie. You get a fucking origin story for the two of them met them in jail from the wrench incident which like finally connects adat that has been unconnected since lewis. Bendel leros where you're like well. They're the reason he drew drove to. Dr rafter. Brian gave him the getaway car right but we never understood why. The dr was where he went. And it's because he had connections there from his boys it this way we get to see young santa's then we gotta talk about. We get full blown tiny toons toronto crew. Here we get. We get young vince young. Like when the young young lady. And it's so fucking fun but let's talk about this like here's another thing talking about like the weird dance of vin diesel. Right like everything about vin. Diesel exists in contradiction right. You're like yes he's is he the theater kid who joined the football team late or is he the jock who des moines joined the theater club late right like which one is his true allegiance on one hand. Of course these movies are like a fucking like a a a mecca like a shrine to his awesomeness right like just a fucking prayer to his ego and like elevates him to just mythological heights and all of that you said i do think he's self aware that he is like i do what i do. Well i have to let actors score. I'm not the funniest person this team. I'm not like this. I'm not the that you know. I'm the everything. I can exist as the patriarch but like let other people get to fucking do shit. Let ramsey have her own fucking setpiece like all right. This levy gives everybody a set-piece like even like you let tegeian roman go to space like the fact that he's not like no anything cool has to be done by dom. Yeah and i think bouncing hobbs from the movies. Let's dom settle in even more to like i'm just the stalwart gifts sky. I hey look. I'm willing to do the most dangerous part of the mission. I'm willing to protect my fam- my familiar. No matter what and i also am like somehow insanely strong struggled in hand to hand combat eliminating hobbs reset the balanced perfectly exactly and it's like hobbes such a fun infusion of the rocks energy right and a good foil but a thing five. He's foil right six they amp up. And you're like this is teetering on the edge right and it's a little too much like they're they're stepping on each other's daniels. They're eating lunch each other's dicks. Let's say seven because he's shooting ratner's hercules a movie that i swear to god exists. Every time i say this to people they go no that i've seen it and i actually kind of like a weird thing where it read cons all hercules trials to being him and his buddies scamming them. That's so insane. So they're like yeah. Pretend like the hydro we cut. All the heads like revealed that he's got like a heist crew. That does these huge missions. With i weird fucking record and i guess when shit is just like not fair use. What's it called when is just like in the culture domain public domain. Just like riffing on like all right. What if he's a piece of shit. Let's try well. It's also just like the last couple of weeks so many people have been watching rewatching these movies as we said right and i have a lot of friends who like come to me as an expert and asked me the questions of things that are bumping up against or whatever and the amount of time someone said to me like why is the rock not in furious seven that much because he is. He gets injured early right. He's got the one opening fight sequence with. Shaw yeah maze in the hospital for most of the movie and then he daddy's got to go to work breaks. The cast goes in the ambulance. Awesome gets the drone chain gun and use on the answer is he was shooting hercules at the same time he prioritized hercules and say it's a shoot around him so they only were able to like build like to set pieces around ten which i think is honestly probably the exact perfect amount to have them in any of these movies. Yeah but i would. I would go as far to say. It's the exact amount of time. They have the rock and any movie to be honest. I'm at joe sky with him at this point. Absolutely a little goes a long way but the amount of times people have said. Why is he not that much. I said because he was shooting. Brett ratner is hercules and they went. No what's the actual answer. No one accepts at face value. That movie happened right right but but anyway yes and then eight is like obviously the whole thing is fucking thrown off. The movie is built around the fact that the two of them don't want to be in the same scene anymore. They're fighting for screen time. We talked about this in our episode but like the fundamental mistake. That movie is it breaks off. But i think worse than that is. That hobbes's is the one leading the team. Which is incorrect right. If you're making a movie in which dom is broken off in everyone's questioning whether or not they've lost or whether or not he still. You know able to be saved. That has to be letty story and everybody is like fifth on the bench in that movie. She's got fucking nothing to do other than saying. That's not dom trust me. And then hobbes's like we kind of and the bummer about that. Is we kind of did that with her. In right exactly so. It only trust me but it only works if she's like occupying the dom role equal importance. But but anyway anyway anyway talking about how much better. Vin is at being generous with his cast mates and with the movie and knowing what he does well but he doesn't another thing that right off the bat i'm fucking loving about. This movie is just casts. A really good young actor to play young dumb right. We're not doing any fucking digital dj trickery which first of all it's just like what a relief like after years we've been conditioned of. I guess the technology is getting a little better like every time. This happens in a movie you go. I guess it's better now like it's less creepy so much more comfortable to just watch an actor play a character and go okay. I'll just pretend that's the same guy. And i'll accept it and i'm not being taken out of it by going like. Why is his neck doing that. Weird thing yeah. I feel like you can have a young actor in a movie when especially when it's thirty twenty five years later and it's been twenty five years of prison and street fights and ice and stuff like a hundred ten fifteen years of cinema where that was the language we all accept it. Yeah it worked. It's works fine it fucking work and this guy's really good and the other thing is like i've heard people say like well. It's like weird to hire young actor who so much better than vin diesel like. This guy's really good dramatic actor. Yeah and what i say to that is re watch the first fast and furious movie. Remember vin diesels background. He was like a fucking new york. Like off off off broadway blackbox theatre act right. Who then became like a weird character. Actor was doing shit like saving private ryan and boiler room where he's like scoring really hard and then had this action star transformation. I think that's what he always wanted to do in his career. But you watch the first fast and furious movie and he's giving a sundance drama performance is arguably maybe a little rod but it fits in the fucking genre that first movie. The car bodas. He's being patrick. Swayze of cars where it's like but his philosophy is family rather than spirit or whatever and then is yes and that is vin. Diesels ultimate superpower as a movie star is. He always knows exactly what movie he's in and he knows the performance to give for that movie. I say by a certainly in his own projects. There's something about him not being afraid of the corny shit that makes him sort of like he never winks at anything. He's doing and it's he takes it so seriously and you're like that's insane but then when you watch fast nine you're like whoa. I'm glad you took it seriously. So i didn't have other. Yes otherwise you're watching your local gifts shit like the hudson trump problem. Where the whole movies winking at you and you're like if you don't care that i don't care and these like put a straight face on this fucking thing and he understands his iconography so well but at this point as you said he's become like this fucking greek god right and he's become like it's become a performance of like fuck and poses rights and like catchphrases and all this shit and i think he was very smarter being like. I need to find an actor. Who's like what. I was twenty five years ago and let that guy. Give the grounded emotionally rooted naturalistic performance. Because people have to remember. That's what dom was right. Like a our first association with dom are meeting with him was in a movie where he had that vibe. And be because this shit's and so absurd in the present tense. We need to w ground that stuff in the past. Now i love combining this with dock with vin. Diesels business acumen. Why wouldn't you put an absolute star. Young dying cares if it steps on you because if that's spins off with young dom which has got to be. Yes a conversation somewhere. Vin diesel gets paid on that in perpetuity. Absolutely you might as well have an absolute fucking banger. This vinnie bennett is the kid's name. I didn't know him before this. You fucking but he's good great like everyone. I know random strangers people are like once more of that guy. This can walk too hot. And he's a good actor. Put them in more movies and venus. Just gonna do fucking victory laps about this. Even if it doesn't become an adventures of young toronto franchise you know vein is gonna feel such pride over the fact. He launched that guy's career yup when that shouldn't be star for the next two decades because he he played an iconic the young version of an iconic character late. We're talking about like. He's getting a play wolverine movie. You're playing young toronto. I think he looks the correct amount like vin. And not like in. I think he makes all the correct choices. In terms of how much he is doing an impersonation how much he's doing his own thing. All of that just feels incredibly incredibly. Well judged. it's fucking. It's so simple but it means so much watching it. You're just like oh thank god. Yeah that's ship. Where i immediately go like right lens back in the driver sees this and that's part of because the comfort of the compass is correct. Yeah and the melodrama of all the young person shit of the young dom ship is like this feels like home and very smash that up against swinging a car like it's a fun morning. Starch happens fifteen minutes into the movie like it's kind of incredible. How quickly they get there. 'cause right it's like this opening then at the house you see dom family life right like he does seem happy content but there is that that weird loneliness there from the fact. That letty later explains like if she's not in the shit she doesn't really feel like she's living right but it's nice to watch their their family unit. It's nice to watch them as parents and all this sort of shit. This has a little bit of a lot from roman but a little bit from everyone sort of like light judging of justification as to be this is why we're still involved in this shit just going to get because the roman thing gets me choked up actually when they get there and i think it's beautiful but the our friends show up in a fucking car right and then just go. Hey we're here here's the gobbledygook or you guys ready to start the plot and its other lynn thing. Where i'm like the exact amount of explanation. I want where they're just like. Here's a mysterious video. Our friend is missing. There's a device it could be the worst weapon in the world. Do you want to go out and stop it or not. And i'm like great. None of this like fuck emission possible rabbit foot shit or the whole movie is playing this game of like what is it right. None of this like over explaining shit right. It's just and no mobile device. It's got two pieces in a code. If you put them together the world ends up that and the other cool thing they do is that. There's no connecting this to other like. Oh well remember what happened at the end of eight. Well because of that blah blah blah. It's like we'll get to it cypher. Ob movie don't worry about it almost identical to the threat in fucking hobbs. And shaw where it's like. Oh there's a virus but there are two parts and then the persons whatever but you're just like get but it's so much less caught up in the cheurfa of everything like understand just like this is truly just a macguffin. Give us the the visual okay. i'd get it. It's an orb. Yeah the to this movie like lives in that video game video game world where it's like get the two components and the code and you've you've won and it's like you found the first component to other component is still to be found. Good luck adventure right now. It's just literally us so we've all seen the trailer. We know that fucking dumps brothers behind this and we know that han still alive right. Those are the emotional stakes. This movie that we're going to be really invested and their life and death stakes but it's like the device is means to an end. We're interested in that. Because jacob toronto's on the other side of that what does that mean for dumb. Let's let's talk about han right now. Because since he just came up. Great like this. The magic of this franchise i think can just be mapped directly over han. Yeah like i just feel like watching han where you're like. He just gets the third movie. He's like a major character in a third movie when they go to like the anthology like tokyo job. He's just in this movie. He's fantastic gang great actor so get then really has like because i watched amerson yesterday. He's like two minutes of screen time because he's in that opening heist. But you don't really have that much it's mostly after the heist when they're sort of clinking beers and he says like think about going to tokyo he's arguably a bigger role in las bandoliers which for those who don't know is the short film. Vin directed that can now be seen on most copies of amber sand. The connects three and four or four and five cramped connects three and four connects during four. It sort of fills in where dumbs ben and connects three and four. And all of that. So or i'm sorry doesn't connect three and four because three happened six movies later right right next one in four. Yes that makes sense that makes more sense. But then hinz han in the timeline. Yeah so then so then. Han is in five and and everyone can humber the team because four they always part of the highest. It's a nice lincoln and nod the guy. The director brought back for another movie. He threw his friend another cameo role right. Yeah 'cause people like that character oh it ties together. Why dom was at the end of tokyo drift but very much. That scene is meant to be a now. Han rides off into the sunset and dies right and we know he inevitably dies. And then it's like fuck fuck it. People want this guy. Yeah and they in five they put the. We'll go to tokyo later. It's usually yes as we'll get there eventually. And that is so. And so then now. They've read conned his death to happen later and they're going to shoehorn in a few more movies so he gets a few more movies right so end of six credit. Cookie is when you see the decker. Shaw is the one who killed him and then he gets killed properly. I guess like thirty minutes into seven. Then the timeline catches out right right. And then we see that in the beginning of seven as shaw is being set up as r. Bad guy right. Shot in is later joins the team. I said on other podcast. Look this this franchise loves doing. He'll face turns right like loves flipping people arguably that's what toronto is. Yeah yes yes. The whole foundation of it is that happens in one he turns and cares and now we have to do it for a state them people liked. You want to do a few more movies. You gotta be the good guy though. Well also hey. The rock likes doing scenes with you more than van. He wants you to be his partner and all of this but The excuse me brain far for a second the thing. Fuck fuck fuck. Give me a second. You'll cut this out. I'm trying to remember the the connective tissue. I was going to throw. Oh i just stepped on everything you were saying. So don't worry no no no. It's fine hans death or talk about right before that stadium. Oh yes. I know what i was gonna say. Yeah this franchise. Traffics in the in. The hill face turns. there is very little. I don't think they could sell me on if executed properly right. I want to say having shaw at least become an uneasy. Ally felt inevitable in this franchise. Right right right i. I'm not fundamentally against that. Turn what i'm against is an. I'm reusing joke. That i already made on the podcast like it's nineteen thousand nine episode. But that it's not the family who chooses that. Shaw is okay. It is essentially hobbs. Who says like he's good. We have to work with him and then they give to save the baby moment to validate it. But my joke is like like your friend shows up at your birthday party with a person you hate and goes like don't worry. Don't worry there cool now. They're not asshole anymore. And it's like right you have to run it by me. He killed can we know we killed on. We haven't gotten to nine yet where we learn that mr. Nobody faked huns daddy. But like call me. Make this pitch. And i'll probably be magnanimous and say okay. I'll give him a shot right. Don't show up with this guy in tow and go like. Don't worry he's cool. We're good now like that's that's the problem. But that creates the whole justice for han thing. Because it's like well now. Hunt's death doesn't really mean anything that's the problem. It has no kind of weight to it. And here's this and they take the teeth out of villains because you know the next movie they're going to be a good guy right right and that's where lindh like says. That's why he came back to do this movie because he he. I didn't realize this. But i've read. I think it was an la times interview with him where he said he did not watch seven or eight when they came out i think probably because he was just kind of so close to it that he was just sort of like weird to watch someone else fucked my wife or whatever. Yeah yeah but did not watch of those and then only was hearing the justice for hans stuff online. Which i think son. Ken kind of brought his attention to and then he was like fuck that does rubbed me the wrong way. Like let me call vin. Let me see what they're thinking. Because now i feel like i got kind of do right by this and course correct and whatever also think it is so telling in terms of how nontoxic the fast and furious franchise fandom is that like look at. How fucking civil. The justice for han thing was in comparison to like release the snyder cut or all fucking anti-catholic kennedy shit or anti-race shit all the fucking original. Sonic the hedgehog design shit. Yeah like there. Was this very civil kind of like this hurts us. We care about this character. You had people saying. Like i care about this character as an asian person you had people just saying like i just love these movies and i care about these characters and their relationships and i think this breaks the emotional like spine of the franchise all this shit. All just happened. Very calmly sung king like weighing on podcasts and had these people on his podcasts and like nothing incendiary was said. No one was like shit talking. Anyone and everyone was just kind of like well. Yeah that sucks and then they just quietly did this thing. No one fucking nuhan was back in the movie until the trailer premiered which was at that time only two months before the movie was originally supposed to come out i. We all went like holy shit. How did they keep this a secret and hans in the trailer. He's back alive in. The tagline is justices coming. And you're just like there's nothing snarky or asshole holy about that. There's no kind of like jj. Like negating what ryan johnson did. That's literally listening like yeah. Fan kind of bmi. We kind of agree guys. We'll we'll go fucking patch. This thing that happened happened. We're not negating anything. But there has to be an atonement for this. There has to be consequences for this right. We have to accept this as a heavy reality so like that shit is so good. I don't know what it was like with your audience but seeing this the second time the audience broke out into applause when they show hans face on a computer screen for the first time. Yup when terzhe is like. There's one more photo that came up. You guys better brace yourselves applause break when they reveal that. Han is the sniper on the rooftop applause break before the reveal of the sniper in my screening when the first sniper shot hit someone screamed han lau because it was just so. Perfect like yeah. Yeah it's going to be and and when he walks into like the secret layer another applause break. We're talking about well. We're talking about number twelve on the call sheet and yeah. This is the reaction he gets from the cry right. And this is chain you went. This was not forced upon us. You know this is not because he's the most beloved character from sixty years of the comics or whatever because they cast hot actor or whatever like and addie way texting me while she's watching these movies for the first time right and got to tokyo drift and was like this guy. Han is unbelievable. This is like the coolest actor i've ever seen. It's such a bummer. That they kill him in this movie. She's watching three genuinely not knowing that this franchise is about to bend its entire chronology into pretzels. Just to just just to have him be one ninth of the team right. She doesn't know that he's the fan favourite. She doesn't know the movie series is going to work overtime to keep him around but her immediate impression is this is the coolest guy i've seen in any of these movies. Ramona had one of my best and oldest friend's sits next to me at the draft house. Screening she has only seen hobson. Shaw she has not seen any mainline fast and furious. He comes on screen and she goes. This guy's got the most swag i've ever seen he kinda and immediately. There's a movie gives ever seen in a movie. That's all about everyone trying to be as cool as possible. She just kind of went. Holy shit the way. This guy walks. Yeah well it's the snacking too. And that's yes i it's arguably iconic to watch him pop chips in his mouth like it's not just fucking underplays. Everything it is all so unforced and natural for him and it's fun to see him too because he aged. I love that and the haircut was a really great decision on part of that. I read lynn saying that like you know because they had made the. The flashback wig for when you have. Those flashback scenes. No i want to age. Some tang as an actor into his steve mcqueen period like not the young hotshot kid with the slicked back hair devil-may-care attitude anymore. I want to each him into like being like a legendary fucking. Like paul newman. Cool guy he and he sits on him well. We like a little bit of weight and a little bit of like. I'm a forty five year. Old man look and he looks fucking. Great feels feels real. It feels like in a movie full of people who don't look that human like retirees and ludicrous. Are some of the smoothest handsomeness motherfuckers in a movie. Gerardo is got so much makeup on that. He got zero blemished from forehead to fuck contain lewis. It looks like they line him up every other minute like they interrupt shots to have his barber. come in. i like every wise. Baby hairs done inventory each realize between lines when it's on the other actor they run and quickly they gotta. It's like one of those. James cameron things where it's like. The technology was actually invented. We've found silent hair buzzers. Yes we can keep test lined up during other people's right but like i. It is nice that he's the most human of all these guys but also is just naturally the fucking coolest. There's something about the way. He carries himself that it just in a movie. Full of this are magnificent seven. It's like yeah everyone is trying to fuck out. Act each other out. Swag each other out be cool each other. Is this fucking generous team spirit and you even just look at the fact. I remember this being so fucking like startling watching fast five. And there's so much more conversation about like asian-american representation in media now than than there was ten years ago when fast five came out right and and you know this went viral on twitter recently. But like someone i forget who it was but it was like a screen writer or someone who works in the industry right with a blue check said like a studio executive said to me the other day and people were interpreting this every single way of like. Is this a damning thing. Is this like shitty cynical thing. What is this. But just saying. Like the fast and furious franchise did more for diversity in hollywood than every twitter campaign combined. But i think that is fundamentally true because Hollywood is a bad place. It is a horrible industry Run by immoral scoundrels right and what they care about is fucking money you know people like to some degree getting credit and pats on the back for being a good guy and if there some twitter campaign and they can acquiesce to it and it works and people can say like bravo bravo. They'll take that for a moment at the end of the day. They wanna buy another boat right. And the fact is there was always the self-perpetuating myth that films with diverse cast did not travel that people of one nation did not like watching people of other nations in movies and american movies or the only films that traveled to other countries. Right as broadly and only with white actors and like black actors on travel asian actress on travel all of this sort of shit and in fast five immediately blows that up right and only that but it was like to fasted more than the first movie internationally. Tokyo drift weirdly did more than two fast internationally. Even though it's the only movie domestically make less than one hundred million dollars. That's the reason the franchise keeps going because they were like weird. Tokyo drift popped in like these eight countries and has in every country has cars and every country has every country wants to see people do cool shit like it doesn't matter and you're only franchise that feels like cheney win. Lee post racial in a way. That doesn't feel like you and me right. Well i gotta say. I think the reason is is because it wasn't a movie that lacks diversity and then added it and saw success right. It was a movie that got success. Because it on. Its own had great diversity because it's also fans representative. La street racing. Exact art brian. It's like one of the first movies that just was was like it's la street racing. These people gotta look like they live in fucking swan had a more diverse cast because of cost thirty million dollars and it was not meant to be a blockbuster like a programmer. That's that's the fucking thing like this whole franchise like end being made ass backwards. Like helps actually changed the landscape of all media because it truly was a thing then executive start going like oh we should fill the supporting cast of our movies with people who aren't just dumb white guys because like large fast five numbers. Yeah the fast fast. Five is like this movie every time they these series every time they add someone. It's not the only person who the only white person who has added to the cast. And then never mr nobody. It's scottie little nobody. Yeah yeah he is. The only character. I believe the franchise will ever fully inconclusively drop in. Never speak of again right like code it because it's too much of like you're trying to replace paul like that's like two two transparent yeah. Let's put a pin on that. Because everything i want to say about that but eight thousand pins on the board right now charlie dame with asinine specifics about the fact that it's like oh the some king the people wanted hunt they wanted more and more han and then like in fast five he is. What like the seventh eighth you know guy on the call sheet or whatever but like the fact that that movie sets him up romantically with the hottest woman who has ever been in any of these films right i think was also is english as a second language israeli like right right and i think that is a watershed moment like truly because when when people talk about the struggles that have existed in like asian-american representation in hollywood the sexualization of asian males is always like at the very top of discussion. Yes hans allowed to be cool. He's about it to be a bad ass. He's not a martial artist. He's not a joke. As a matter of fact and six he gets the great moment where him in roman just can't hang with the dude from fucking warrior his name and he's just so talented and fighting but you just see sun kang. Being like i don't even know like it's like all right like just getting worked and that's such a fun thing to give your hero. He's not low key martial artists like he's a drummer bowl. Yeah he's a driver. He's vulnerable but high status at the same time and so talking about the whole the handling of on in this movie right because you go into this in the two questions are how is he still alive. And how are you going to explain that. He's been alive this entire time and not in communication with our lead characters right. Those are the two questions and for me. The second one scared me more than the first one. The first one is like i. You give me matt movie magic. The second one breaks familiar right and the first answer. I explain exactly as much as i want to. You know i feel like you've been maybe you asked me like. How do they answer the honda thing without spoilers like is it okay and i went like it is the exact amount of like. I don't know who gives a shit like it is the exact amount of like. I don't know if people were looking the other way right because at the end it doesn't it doesn't fucking matter truly gravity movies. It doesn't fucking matter. People have come back from the dead. They've come back from it. And use your all this shit and i also think the emotional logic thing is airtight. Because killing han was a mistake it was the correct decision when you think of tokyo drift as anthology isolated film. If that's the only narrative you're ever gonna make within the fast and furious franchise with that those characters that sliver of the world then sure. He's the obi-wan-kenobi you kill him before. The final battle like that works emotionally. But once the franchise has come back has gotten expanded out his time together all the threads. It's a fatal mistake to take han off the bench right. So they're bringing back and bring him back and bringing him back and then you know. They finally closed the time line. Because lynn is leaving the movies he wants to go off and do other stuff after six. That's his character. Han his originally in better luck. Tomorrow you know so. It's like he's taking on with him he doesn't want to let someone else do haunt i respect. All of that right the thing they never could have accounted for. Is that paul walker then dies in real life and paul walker. Dying like really puts the balance of the entire team on a knife's edge so now the movie seven that is designed to be owed the characters get vengeance for hans death. Write a movie. That's all about memorializing haunt now also has be a movie about moralizing. Paul walker the actor so the is now covering these two things which i don't think takes away from hans death but it does mean that in your mind's eye the legacy of that movie is more. That's the paul death uvi than that's the han death move right right so then when it comes in and is so flippant about it and now like shaw's team and all this shit now you're just like well now. It really hasn't been accounted for. But also here's mr little nobody stinking up the place. The team is unbalanced dobbs. Not there you do. Feel the absence of brian and mia write that down. Needs some more grounding. You need different energies there and like you have to replace that that i'm all for like you know what fuck it he still alive. It doesn't fucking matter you say mr. Nobody put a mirror in front of the screen. Or whatever right. Yeah fused pepper's ghost you know the old time illusion or whatever doesn't fuck it. I mean they literally just say like pulled off some magic tricks. Fine don't care. These movies are better. If he's in the second questions the harder want to answer and they answer correctly. Which is he built a new familial bond with a person. A person who at that point had no other family and so he needed to look out for her and him making himself known. Put her at danger right. And i do think sung can. Even though they don't devote a lot dialogue to it does play the heaviness of. I have not been able to see you right right like it is hurt me that i have had to keep this a secret that i have forced all of you to grieve me you have to understand. It was four another reason then like when she gets connected to when l. is their name. I think eliot gets connected to the story line and it's like well hans like well now. I every introduced. Yeah and not only that. I don't know if you feel this way. But ellie comes in. And i go great. Hi nice to meet. You can't wait to see what you do like. I just accept new characters in this franchise so quickly because of the level of trust. I have but also i'm just like i like you looks like you cast a good act. They've got a good energy. I like the way you've set this up emotionally. I'm ready to see she's even fastened. She's bad ass and it's like and it's fucking to tie into what we're talking to right before the han shit. Yeah to to add another character to the crew and for that to be an asian woman is just like that's just them fucking firing on all cylinders of just like it's getting bigger we have seen coming in who's like like iconic -ly why american gets a perfect and it's like that's that guys are rock the rock so now we got to add in some more of the flavor and we get fucking this character. Who as she gets to different sequences. And it's like so she gets the fire fuckin- fifty cal machine gun and she gets to merck like eight dudes to fucking as we've seen with ramsey like they put in the time right like you know by the time ramsey comes in this movie. There's no pardon me. Where i'm like richie's the new kid you know. Brands rightfully earned her status with the team. You know seven. She's a plot device right. You're like okay. You're keeping her cool like her but they're still trying to figure out where she fits in the dynamic how that eight since you've been here forever. As far as i'm concerned you denied the right to be here as much as anyone and elliott. I feel the same way. Where i'm like i trust you. I like the first impression you're making a can't wait to see what they do with you next and another aspect. We have to talk about to this point where it's like ramsey. You're adding like a black british woman. And you're adding a young asian woman. Generational thing is very big with those two characters as well. Which is this franchise has been going on for twenty years. All these people are tiptoeing into their fifties. If not already dancing around it. It's nice to people who are younger you know it's good to have like different. Fuck and perspectives on the team. Also ramsey's a great example because she's a good actor a black british person to add it to the movie and also continuing with vins. Smart is from game of thrones which at the time when that movie came out was that against h show on tv and he just. It's like pull them in. The rock is the biggest but pullman. Is this huge okay elleman. They can't put them in our movies. Fuck it right. Kurt russell legend. Let's put them in our movies. Let's just get these and it's sort of like if you said to someone like okay. This franchise goes on for nine movies. Right and one of the bigger set pieces in seven or nine rather and i say one of the bigger set pieces and that it's maybe fifth out of eight. One of the bigger set. Pieces is entirely a showcase for a character who only got added to movies ago right. Yeah ramsey gets this whole and we need to talk about it. I don't know how to drive sequence. The thing i've been wanting in these movies for years right. You're on its face. You would go like that. Sounds like police academy six bullshit. We're now suddenly the whole movies about bob cat or whatever that shouldn't work we want the og g people but you're like no these. All of these characters have earned the right to be here. And i. Tom has been telling us for a handful of movies. It's all about the family and everyone matters. And if we got so when ramsey is getting a full on fucking setpiece to herself you're believing it because vin dom believes in all these people. Those characters is reflected the generosity of the actual narrative right. Well now we're talking. Also ramsey drives. Yeah no one has ever seen driving dom in any of these movie. No no drives themselves. So that's that's wild secrets and that's dumb given it up to the actor whose name is escaping me at this moment but emmanuel emmanuel fucking and. That's him going. Like and i'll be in the scene with you and it says he literally say like nice driving fucking like like. He's tapping her on both. Yeah really like from the are fucking furious. Seven episode what. Five years ago right i. I've said like. I wanna be in these movies. You and i've talked about ultimate career goal to be in one of these fucking movies and i said the thing i'd love to do is to be. The member of the team doesn't have a driver's license. Because i'm a fucking nervous wreck and cars freak me out. And i don't have a driver's license new york city boy like right. That was my half joke. Answer right to see that on screen executed well and not feel any level of jealousy. You know what. I'm saying. As as an actor. I can totally understand what you're saying. Is they pulled it off. And i'm not even mad that it wasn't me and that's hard for us. Narcissistic acting types. Right right. and i'll say this. I'll say this like not not to like put on blast but i feel the need to say this. I met natalie emmanuel at a comic convention a couple of years ago. We were both working when i was trying to pretend the tick hadn't been canceled and she was promoting the final season of the biggest. Tv show in history and like my handlers brought me over to her handlers because they knew i was such a fan and i was like hey you i do not give a shit about game of thrones. I've never seen a fucking episode. I wanna talk about ramsey ramsey girls clearly so relieved that was right and we just talked a lot. She was really lovely and we just talked about. She was shooting eight at the time. This was like two years ago. We talked about the ramsey and then told me the exact vince stories. I wanna hear about him. Just being a fucking champion for everyone. And the papa bear the whole movie and whatever. But i saw this early screening and i did i tended to do it. I slid and her. Dm's she had followed me after that convention. And i was just like. I don't mace follows. People quick doesn't remember me. Whatever and i just send them on. If you're army. I was that guy who fucking nerd it out to you about fast and furious for like twenty minutes backstage at that convention. Whatever years ago. I just want you to know like i don't have a driver's license. This has always been my joke with friends. I always repeat on podcast. I wanna be the guy who has to do the set piece at the end of the movie where they realize he doesn't know how to drive and he's crash into everything. Whatever and like you did it. So well that i wasn't gel. I was just like so amped to see it on screen. So thank you and her fucking response. Gabor's was i don't drive either. They fucking gave her a real. That's a real and that's for the accident. That's the thing. And you know what i could fuck and feel that i could fucking feel that that that sequence doesn't feel arbitrary that it feels like part of the generosity and the insight this franchise has into its entire bench of like. What's the best way to let ramsey score. Who is this actor. Now that we know right now that they are part of the now he's probably like you're in new york city. He's probably a london kid and just she's a london. Kit never need car. that's in london. She has the fuck in line where she says like no one drives in london. Anyway right yeah. And i just was like i fucking knew it. I fucking knew it. Both in that performance ended the writing that it just feels like right. Oh that makes me fucking love that shit and it's going to sound like i'm being facetious here but i swear i'm not truly felt like my representation matters moment as an audience watching this franchise drive. That's me on screen and is someone who deserves to be playing that part because she also was freaked out by cars and it's she pun intended crushes that she crushes it. That's one of my favorite cities and that's pre magnets and the man should is all super superfund but magnets is just her crushing shit and it fucking role. That's that's her final like her fuck in like final bow on that sequences she gets a crank it up and pull fucking john seen car through the whole thing right. oh right. Leading up to that too is the serendipitous like fucking keystone cops pulp fiction level connection that their fist. Fighting in the back of our she's hijacking. Yes languid and either party and it's like that's so dumb and fun and i'm so happy perfect and so now you're getting a fucking fun. Hint hint said piece are two jokers and we get to fucking also then cut to the wide shot of of of this setting that. They're in plowing through shit. It's like it's on john. This is such justin lin king shit. You're forgetting that they're cutting between three different action sequences at the same time. What's ramsey driving the car and crashing. It is tension roman in the back fist fighting. These guards ended is dumb on foot on rooftops. Chasing jacob on his unseen pipeline. Dude that this zip three the lane of zip line made me laugh so frequently like every time they take it was just still going theater was so alive. We were at cackling. And it's same. Same shit where it's like. It pisses me off when people say that. These movies are stupid. These movies are silly. There's fundamental difference for me. Because i think these are very smart and very canny about what they're doing. They know what they're doing when they cut back to a six foot. Three two hundred seventy five pound muscle bound sliding by one arm clear across an entire city. Like and just like there are two great. Repetitive editing jokes in this movie. That the difference between sing it a critic screen with people and seeing it with a crowd and every single time it got a laugh like perfectly orchestrated as if it was an appetizer movie where he's fucking recording. The test screenings right refined the peaks in waves of a every time. You cut back to the zip line and it's still going right. They even hit you with the reset. Where he they show how fast he can fire off another one right. And somehow that's even funnier to it's not one zip line it's like five infinite zip lines then but then the other one is an and we'll we'll circle back to this when they're cutting back and forth between them trying to stop the giant truck and roman intelligence space and every time you just do the cutback reset establishing shot of car in space. It's like a huge fuck and pump fist. Laugh moment he knows exactly. They'll let talking book he's doing. He's a fucking conductor because the rhythm of that sequence is so like huge car explosion. Try this try this. And then smith quick cut to silent hill silence floating card to a twinkie wrappers fucking whatever. But there's there's a shot a friend who hadn't seen any of the previous movies. I think it was after the movie was asking me like what's the difference like. What are the things where you can really feel the difference between lynn and the last couple of directors on these moves right and to be clear. I love the job that wanted on seven seven. Seven five seven nine. Th those three odd ones are. They're living in my favorites right now in my top three we're talking about. This should have just like lynn. Having really good story judgment right and like what to focus on what. A hand wave in defining lines between what breaks a character. And what does it. But if there's one moment just of like lynn as a director that isolated. Watching the second time where i was like. That's the shit. That's the shit where he's kind of next level with building. These set pieces is in the sequence. We're talking about you cut from. It's i'm sorry. It's like a huge crane shots or drunk shot. Or whatever of vin. You know in fucking flannel not flannel. Thermal shirt just fucking hoping it across these rooftops chasing this ochre on zip line right and the cameras following them moving with them along that axis right like the x. axis or whatever and then it moves over to the y. Axis it stops following them moving forward and he goes off. The side of the building to the streets. Were ramsey is now like crossing through. They've now and this is something we talk a lot about on action boys because good action direction and spatial geography that's executives and good action direction. Let's you know the geography of where everybody and that connecting moment that you're talking about i remember it. Is you just go. That's just such masterly. Shit of just like very elegantly. Just moving the camera over and being like an now. This is where the two things are moving in opposite directions. But they're both in the same area and then you cut from in the fucking driver's seat back to them fighting in the back like it's like all three things going on at the same time. It's incredible incredible. Played spending not to mention the fucking blockbuster flex it is to have not cut in between those two things like that all setup whenever the fakeness whatever they it feels real relief does yet. it's bright. that's that's the like sort of like he's looking at the camera and only i know what i'm doing things. I got fucking four crews working to once right. I did it like it was nothing. Yeah it's not a super special. it's super small. Yeah early on in the movie. The justin lin moment for me that hit really hard that felt like like felt like some of the stuff he always got. Right was the smirk. Sina gives dom yeah like when they're finally alongside each other and it's like wait a minute do i know you. And he's just kind of like And it's that through the window. Shot that he does so well of like when you would see brian and him smirk through each other and you just get that. And then you're like. Oh we may have been driving through a jungle with like armored cars and dune buggies but this is fucking fast and the furious in that moment with that with that head nod. You're just. I guess that's as important to me now and this is me becoming an adult as a cinema fan. It's as important for me to see the jeep drive. Vertical on the rope bridge as it is to go get yeah. It's me your brothers. Those things hit equally hard for me. Now as a grownup and i fucking can't get enough of it. I heard you know contrasting opinions on the scene casting as an idea and the performance. It's i. I really like the way the movie uses him here. I have seen as an interesting case. Because i and stop me. If you disagree with this but like be attempt to make a mistake for action star was like complete non-starter then it felt like there was like eight years of just like oh. Yeah that guy's not a movie star. We're not doing fucking anything with him right. And then he comes back as the surprising comedy star. And you're like oh he's really really funny in this vein but maybe he's so goofy and comedy that it's not even like a batista thing where he can like have a foot in both worlds. He might only work in goofy. He might just be a comedian. Who could bench for four or five blockers and you're just like his body might just be part of the visual gag of putting in cargo shorts right like i don't know if i could take this guy seriously in an action movie especially because in the past he was so flat and action movies casting in this. You're like okay. i understand. They're trying to place. The rock won the wrestler. It's vin being canny about like overlap a fan bases and all this sort of shit when i heard the scoop that they were trying to build this movie around the long lost toronto brother the thing i heard originally and who knows if this was true was that they wanted to be a cage as the older brother which went like holy shit. Holy shit holy shit. But in retrospect i was kind of bummed out when it wasn't that right. In retrospect i think this was the smarter choice. Because i think what you need is a guy who is in so many ways a physical analog to vin right. I don't think it would have worked with cage sitting behind a desk right. And i think cages kind of like over cranked absurd as might not have been the best fit for this as much as in the moment. I thought i wanted to see it. I think you need a physical rival. I think it works much better with him. Being a younger brother right so much of what's interesting. Here is the shadow element of it right and they touch on that amount a fair amount. But i know you're in my shadow. I is it is there is the meta textual element of like sina inherently kinda can't do what vin diesel to us right. If seen could be vin diesel. He would have been vin diesel after the marine. Yeah it is also like. There's an element that i can't i. I was calling this friday night. When i saw and it was i was i was being non generous but there is something to i was joking saying like of course vin pushes for johnson at a play his brother because if he's going to pull one more person in vins like i have a few people that i'm a better actor then right right and then you're also like but if it's his brother maybe they're genetically a little wooden. Thanks thank god it fucking is genius and also also that character works because johnson is trying a little bit too hard yes. That's that's the huge thing for me of just like any works. There's the meta element of like he's trying show hard right. And i don't think sina has a lot more humility than the rock does where i think john has a lot. More humility than the rock does where the rock immediately came in and was like. Well that's what they hired me to do. They hired me to elevate this franchise. I made it bigger. This is mine as much as it's his now right and seen as like. I know this is your court. I'm trying to show that i can do this. And there is in all the scenes where he's trying to tough guy and pow nod and whatever. There's a little bit of like a scared. Little boy trying to seem tough zena which is what he's tapped into as a comedian. Very well that helps those scenes because all along. You're kind of like this guy can. Can't he drop the act and just accept that. He misses his brother like. When's he going to stop acting so top and win. That turn happens which has to happen very quick very late in the movie and he drops it a. You're happy to see and be seen as far more natural playing those scenes where he's kind of just wounded in the last fifteen twenty minutes. I find winning apple section. He so it's so fun the way he he. He had just so quickly to that and with a flashbacks. Yeah it really sets up like he can be a little mopey and what in because he has a weird and i think the younger brother casting his really good and that kid plays it very kind of mopey and self-pitying so that sets like a good base for but with a sort of boiling or bubbling. Right anger that would justify and then also they low key it's whether you like it or not the fucking dais x. Mocking connection of that sina previously worked for mr. Nobody and all that stuff. No i like all that. Yeah it's sort of like that's a little neat but it also then casually puts a little justification on like the last few movies. That's what i was going to say. The exact kind of self knowing joke. I want in this movie. Which is him saying. Like don't you find it a little bizarre that you guys went from like high-sticking dvd players to being like the the best team in the world. And you never really questioned that transition. And that's like the exact kind like oh it's not that he's fucking blow feld in every antagonist they faced in the past has been a puppet right more so the he's just like this isn't arbitrary. The arc of this franchise. I brought you into this. Because i was off in my own fucking movie series because you kicked me out. Which is the other wrinkled. Jacob which is just like what happens to toronto. If you don't have family like yeah iconic that other people speak about well if he's toronto. It's fairly other people even know that it's like a curdle. This man sold that he didn't have a family and much. Like the only way you can justify dom turn against the family is if he finds out he has a son the only way you can justify hans staying debt is he took on a new family member who he needed to keep safe. Yeah it's always gotta be family justification. They like the intricacy of you. Spend most of the movie really thinking. Jacob is just an absolute were me piece of shit and then you find out that he did do the fucked up thing but it was because the dad told them to and that made him promise never to tell dom and that he has lived his entire life looking like an asshole to uphold family. Yes i like that. The movie kind of makes dom look bad. I said dom has to take this giant l. Of like i really was so fucking arrogant in the fact that my my compass for family in the rules of family was the ultimate that i was the grand arbiter and that i just assumed i knew exactly what this guy did and why and that he was a fucking traitor and i cast them out and i like task them to the worst punishment in the world to live without a family toronto without a family. That's nothing you know. And that he at the end of the movie has to own that and that gets to the other thing that i think is really smart about the sina casting which i didn't really put together until maybe the second viewing but as we said he's smart because he's a guy who is trying too hard to occupy the same space as opposed to if you hired a heavyweight dramatic actor who wasn't in these fights but would just fucking act tables around everyone. He works because visually and physically. He is a match they. There is a weird parallel quality to their screen. Presences there weird woodenness but also. They're just like bizarre bodies. They're hyper grimaces. You know and then you a denture their faces you hide you fights that's like you need like the rock versus the hobbs versus toronto. Fight from five. We wanna match that with a couple of big boys you know. You gotta give vin. His duda get right. Get squared off against the pouts in the smirks. And all that sort of shit like they're in the same language which helps and then. The third thing is only really realized the second time inches. Lean being so fucking smart. I realized there actually solving two problems here casting sina and creating the character jacob right and putting those two things together simultaneously fills the holes left by both. I would argue brian. And hobb's okay. Yeah because they're like first of all we need another fuck in beef. Had we need another like muscle bro. We need another ki-ju. In this franchise you need another guy with wrestling energy with that sort of like theatricality you know and that sort of like the physical vocabulary and all that sort of stuff but but you also need the thing that i feel like eight was sorely lacking which is like this franchise is all about that original relationship right ryan and dom and that weird like romance between the two of them and i don't mean this facetiously but like that it is about these two guys who are naturally very wary of each other exists on opposite sides of the law and kind of start to like each other and and that question lingers for two movies until they come back and four where. It's just like i should hate you. But why did you give me the getaway car. Is there any chance at that. Was real like i wanna give you another shot because part of me thinks that that was real right there was something there and we connect we connected. We had that did you have. The mir relationship is well on top of that. But it's like that's the thing of just like was this guy on the level. Was there something and the triumphant shit at the end of four where. Brian made a promise to read would not go to jail when they couldn't swing the fucking lawsuit his way you know the judge wouldn't give him the ruling he wanted then. Brian goes well. A promise is a promise. Any fucking breaks out of the prison transport bus himself. Because that's what you do for fucking family and you need that core right you need that like history and the blood in it and when you remove that because paul walker's unfortunate death. There's not the same kind of grounding there because then you're just like well. This is a bunch of people who were on the same level. You don't have that. These people had to overcome something to relieve. Learn to trust to go through something together so you need to wreck con in here. Is someone else dom has as much history with with. There's as much reason to not trust them where there's equal amounts of love and hate there and someone has to prove themselves and you need a fucking kaija you know. Yeah well let's not even we're not even talking about the fact that the creation of jacob and the and the flashback and setting him up and yes split between dominant him. Also establishes wide dom is constantly seeking family. He lost his dad and his brother back to back. And what the different ways and then lost the mighty right. Yeah right and lost his wife but then she came back right right baby he didn't know about but also the ending of this fucking movie. That's where click for me is dumb flipping the script on the end of the original fast and furious where they've like. Come through this thing they been at fucking blows with each other and then like this moment of silence reaches imagine things are gonna to explode dom just kind of like nods and quietly gives them the keys and let's him drive off you know. And that's where i went like. Oh he's reset reset it match flipping fucking two in the flipping one the other direction like you need him to drive off at the end of it rather than having them just go like welcome back to the family and give right right you know and and to to linger on sina just kind of driving off his face you know i think is a good choice that he's got so much fucking face that dude. Yeah yeah it's crazy that he doesn't have a shaved head but as we know he spent entirely too much on that air plugs. He's not for a movie no matter what it's so funny. You have to wonder for like part of him is just like i could awaited like a year. This stupid as flattop forever. Now yeah now. He's never going to touch that here. It will grow or shrink a centimeter. Wait yeah so. We talked a little bit about the madness behind the movie. So let's dive in a little and we talked a little bit about this on text but one of the meta runners in the movie rummy as is roman being invincible and roman calling it out my favorite thing in the entire film yeah. It's so much fun. They do it like more than you think they should. But not too much no correct but most importantly i think this movie and i'm always a roman fan. I think this is the best writing. They've done for roman. All i told you like above and beyond doing better than he could he i i think i think it's i think i think terese rises the material you give him. We just did all of singleton on blank checks. I watched fucking three or retirees movies in a row. Essentially his first three and his career has gone such a weird direction from how singleton set him up. But i do think he rises to the material you give him. I think he's delivering the best. He ever has any of these films. And i think it's because they've written him properly. It's also funny like all smart recalibration shit but like bringing ramsey and almost seemed like a problem. Because you like. But isn't tej the hacker like what do you do if they're to hackers now and then eight makes the mistake of it like oh her. Main role is for roman tej to fight over her just like abolish that none. None of us ended up with her family. I feel like there's a reading that her intense have a thing going on. But it's like not overtly sexual and they make her just reduced to being like someone's girl and she also just like cool. She's like pole position. The tech person now like hoettges doing her backup but more importantly texas role is to be roman straight man like finally just break ten roman off into like the two of you are a comedic dynamic and it's so smart because they're both insanely charismatic. And they both have like two fucking fun fast and furious backstory. Where it's like if you go back far enough in their resume. They're not actors. They're a completely different for like. And that's so thrilling. Like the rock sina tirees tej all these characters. You go back. And they're like. I used to not be an actor at all. Do this sort of adjacent thing. That somehow i'm now in the biggest blockbuster franchise of are over the course of eighteen years ludicrous rapid who i believe had not acting anything up until that point in time and gets like the flashy supporting role originally written for draw rule as like the flamboyant master of ceremonies yeah two decades later has now become the straight man of the franchise the sort of like normal guy pillar. His name is ludicrous. And a straight man i. That's that's really. He has like a fucking crazy arc. Like paul bitney dozen. Avengers where it's like. You wanna be a voice of a computer in iran to by the end. It's like you want to be in a sad sitcom parody with elizabeth olsen right. What do you want to become like. I don't know like moneypenny. Like your son and sort of like emotional like pillar of this thing. It's also just wild. Seeing like right like theresa's third build now like that is the chain of succession like it's almost like the president you know. He's the secretary slides up the crown. You're just like as as people flip in and out. You're like that right. Of course letty. Rodriguez would be to now. Teresa beathard like when when theresa appears in the beginning movie. That car pulled up. We're talking about and he goes. It's me your friend don't you. I know i've been going tanning lately and touches his face and it's like that is. This is what i think. They calibrated roman correctly on this time early on in the movies. He's a little in five and six. He's a little bit of a bitch and that's kind of like the game to him leaking out. He's in over his head. Yeah why what are we doing diving out of this or right because it's early on that. He's a fast talker and like gets himself in the hot water by lying or whatever then the next the and then they read conned into sort of like he's bad ass in or whatever the one where he's on the on the snow. I think that's right six or seven forgotten. He gets a little too cool a little make them so cool and then they finagle it back eight is whatever now gonna talk about but nine they throw back where it's like okay. He's funny he's not scared but he is wildly confused slash entertained by what's happened is reacting to these things realistically like it is. The audience goes like in the the first moment that lynn. Just kind of. Let's stay where he followed through that roof and he's fist fighting the guy in everyone's shooting at him and he takes everyone out and then he just stands there in silence and he looks and he sees all the smoke coming off of him. Yeah and you're like that's an odd moment. These movies do not acknowledge mortality in that way right. And you're like is that some weird one off thing and then you have that bizarre sequence where you know the land mine the truck flips it gets stuck the crevasse. He's trying to get out makes out just in time. He's running the car flips on him. You fake out. Think he's dead. Yeah he he almost gets the fucking wiley coyote death it's so fun then staggers out of it and they say how are you still alive. He says. I don't know and you're like another like that's a weird one off joke. These movies is that breaking the reality a little bit but then it all starts harmonizing that scene where he comes in and he's like guys. I need to talk about this for a second. And then he starts breaking it down. Like from the fucking zoomed out perspective of the franchise. He's like we were doing it. We've done this. We've done this. We jumped out and like i don't have a single scratch on my body like we've all survived. This people have come back from the dead like look at my jacket. You got like two holes in. The shoulders starts to reason with them on the grounds of science knowing that they're the tech people of being what happens when a theory is tested over and over again in fact you know and like then terzhe is like stringing him along and then eighty and you're like okay maybe that's like the one scene where you kind of acknowledge it. But i think it's so beautifully comes back they don't overplay it when hong comes back from the dead but i think tyree plays the moment very well as an actor were almost like touching him and like how right and then to bring it back in the fucking space car. I which i feel like is the remaining major thing to talk about here rice. It's the convalescence of these two things right. The absurdity of the heights now the franchise has gotten to also just like grounding knowing. It's characters so fucking well and its themes and it's reality and all that sort of shit you get to this point where the fuck in tokyo drift guys who have now become the lone gunman because this franchise will let a character. You haven't seen in six years. Become a fundamentally different person if it serves the needs and it lets them score like it. Lets them shine. It does it. Does the comic book movies. They they do the good comic books. Shit of like this guy you remember. It was quite a driver and kind of knowledgeable about cars a decade and a half ago. Now the homeboy makes rockets. This guy yet. Blinks shit happened. Like i remember my friend who i saw fast five with when he went back around and that was he hasn't seen the early films went around and watch too fast and furious and he asked my buddy like what happened. Like roman and fast. Five is a fundamentally different character than roman into fast. Like what happened and my friend. Alex berlin. Who's who's maybe my my most loyal fast and furious. I've seen most of these movies with Who's a public defender in new york city. He said just very calmly very confidently. He grew up. It's drew a man and it's like he said it kind of like a joke but it also is true that like these characters are off the board for so long that when they come back you kind of accept like they've gone through some shit things have changed whatever. But you're if you're in if you're in for the penny of what vinas been through in the last ten years what toronto's been through in the last thing then you're in for the pound of what fucking shad loss bow. Yeah very and two point. You're just like okay. Lucas black was a failed attempt to creating a new leading man. For this franchise right. It does not do him any favors to bring him in and go like and now. He's jockeying to be the new guy. He's gonna fill paul walker slot. He's the hero of his own subplot. It is better to go like what's a thing we don't have. Let's come up with a different type of skill you have. Let's come up with a different dynamic. You can add to the group of different energy. You can add to the movie. Just let people fucking score. What's fun is giving them this fucking three stooges dynamic right like the way they all enter play off of each other. But you set that up you feel like is that a one off loop but then of course they come around. What's the thing ono. There's a satellite even if we get both pieces devices. We gotta stop the satellite uplink meet these three lunatics arbitrarily who are putting rockets on cars and the next thing you know. The car is like strapped to the top of a plane. And they're flying them into orbit right. Yeah and and vin. Hit you with the vin. Hit you with the. I know some guys who like. And it's like. I'm still don't worry connected to everyone that's ever appeared in this franchise anyway. I know some guys. But also i'm going to send you to strangers to go meet them because that gives you something to do that gives you your own fucking thing in the movie. Yeah and they add the third guy to that crew. Who i love. He's also from the movie from the tv show warrior. He plays like young june on it. I can't remember the actors as this is what i found out so he. He is in tokyo drift in a fairly small role. Oh shit i three and four. i gotta rewatch. That's and i didn't remember him being in it either. And obviously it feels weird to elevate him to the same level as like lucas black bowo. Who are like the two leads of that movie. He was the actor because he's in better luck tomorrow as well. That lynn wrote twinkie for the bow character. Sun king said this interview the reason the characters name is is because yellow on the outside white on the inside. The alright stereotype ryan schoolyard. Taunt so twinkie was written for him. And the studio didn't want another asian cast member and they wanted another bigger name so they put bow. Wow in there. He gave him the smaller part as a sort of consolation. But it's like such it shows fucking like lynn's integrity as a dude where it's like. Guess what fifteen years later. I'm bringing you back. It's so fun. Subjugating you to this level and i'm like a fucking thing to do you know if if you if you if you're imagining a world where fast furious is going the way that everything is going and that on the universal streaming app there's a fast and furious button that you click on you can watch the movie of the loan like the tv series of those three guys just doing macgyver. Shit doing eighteen shit and it's a great being like the dude in that movie likes the you know equipment a little too now being like this mad tech genius which is fun character but and it gets our character gets to our characters outerspace. It gets tegeian. Roman who've now been as you've already said banging on the fucking two men imp to man's comedy act two characters you want to go into space funniest people to also situation to people. That in this movie have been setting up diametrically opposed. Pov's of so quietly. You're not even giving the movie credit for doing that until he goes. It's all numbers and then right fucking roman says the word faith. You're like oh my god as the invincible runner which may be felt like it was just kind of like a joke strung along for a couple of scene that was working there l. faith versus numbers thing which felt like maybe just like you know a juice for painter between them coalesce in this one moment that kind of becomes like this movie franchise yelling. It's the the reason for its own existence. The rosetta stone to the fast. I guess i yeah and truly both times. i've seen it has brought me to the brink of tears. I like obviously we are text about this. When you re watch seven the other day that you were just like fucking sobbing cannot make the through that without sobbing like that is a less fifteen. Ten minutes of that movie are designed to make you break in memoriam for right the lead of the movies. Yeah like this is not designed in that same way. But i think if you care about this franchise as much as you and i do. It is actually emotional to hear this moment. Where the movie kind of slows down and goes like this kind of matters and especially when you're sitting there in a theater after fucking year and a half you know after a year and a half of the life and then after two hours of franking cartoon stunts have characters in space friends and strangers cheering having this beautiful communal experience and to have two people go like i know this is stupid but this matters it really really gets to me and his whole sort of speech of just like the movies been operating at such a crazy like volume right and even when the cutback to the space stuff as we say they cut back to sort of quiet. But it's comedy they're playing comedy. The florida snack wrappers their bantered. They're freaking out and then on the ground shit's just going insane right at least firing. A fucking like gatling gun. Yeah trying to flip over the trucks. All the magnets are flipping everything. Everything's going ballistic. And then you just have this moment where it's almost like. The two halves of the movie are also combining because as we've said the young dumb stuff is in such a different emotional pitch right then all the present day stuff which is pitched much higher energy right and much more kind of absurd and then roman kind of pulls down to like a baby boy level of performance right like his singleton young man stuff where he just has suddenly this like clarity and the serenity presence of my interest goes you know what you're probably right and i get goosebumps from the moment that turn happens and the music gets like very kind of quiet and serene they cut back to the action on the ground silent. Mos so you're seeing all this absurd destruction. And whatever like underscored with like just like quiet strings right and this guy reckoning with his own mortality and just being like this probably means nothing like this is probably totally ridiculous it. There's no reason we're still alive. It is just dumb luck and and this goes back to where we're thesis statement of maybe all of our conversations. The power of this is how much of vins imprint of imprint. If you will is on i will i will. I know you will the vin print on. This is on this movie so hard that it's big emotional moment. The connection of like takes place in a pontiac in outer space between a former rapper and a former model and it feels so much like vin. That it's a huge silly idea. Yeah and a huge emotional idea. And he just smashes them together and it's like these guys can pull it off because you've been riding with them for nine movies and mind you. He's not getting that moment to himself. He is leading yes. Tirees reese and ludicrous. Play the heart of that moment and even when you're cutting back to the ground there eight different people kicking ass at that moment jay on their side. Elliot's got the gun fucking hans kicking people left and right. Everyone's scoring at this point. It's all of it. You're cutting back. You're connecting all these characters and this final moment of clarity. That roman comes to is like if this is all silly bullshit right like if these movies are goofball bananas but it's gotten us this far then shouldn't we go all the fucking way i feel out. Shouldn't we care about this. Shouldn't we invest this emotion into it. And shouldn't we drive this fucking car into a satellite. Well it almost feels like the audience is supposed to go. You're right isn't stupid. Do it guys. And you're like you get caught up in energy of it. Yeah i think. I would have gotten excited by that. In april of twenty twenty that in an alternate reality where a pandemic did not ravished the globe right right but watching it now it hits different it really it really. Does you know and it so before that was one of the the only other thing that's left on. The table is the moment that broke me. I cried not at the. I got choked up at the part. We're talking about here. And i'm looking forward to a rewatch but i actually started crying in the fucking letty rescuing dom moment now. Yeah i want to just talk about this sequence a little bit because this is peak vin. Don he gets to all go go. And i'll seal you in like he breaks it thing shot and he's like run. I'll protect you. We get an amazing overhead as as big. I love fight choreography which these movies. Also we never even discussed when you talk about these movies. Because you're like the car stunt the space. The hand hand looks great. It's not choppy. They hold in wise bring in like ufc fighters and shit like people who really know how to fight. You know. that's the magic. They always have like like six is a great example. They bring in the dude from. Who's like legendary martial artists. They bring in gina carano ryan. They bring in a giant and six. Oh six am. I wrong about that. I miss remembering that tony. Joh- is on the train that they heist running through the jungle. The bus that they run through the jungle jot skins not in six. How the fuck is not happened yet. He better be nine. He will be ten ten. I'm so you bought so hand to hand. So he's great but they also choreographed vince. Hand-to-hand dom hand hand to hand so well that he's never fast or slick so this features and overhead shot of a group of fully geared up fucking swat guys vin sort of one like one man scrum. Just holding them all back. And that's the most vin fucking thing. You can imagine i. I i would argue. Thank you and you're like holy shit. Vin is literally holding back the wave of violence so his family can escape routing to chains granted to chaves under attached to the structure of this thing and this is then he out vins himself. And he's i goes to superhuman strength level and he likes pounding the glass screaming. And what's the thing he says to her when he liked turns that fucking wheel and seals himself in. What does he say he says like. I'm going to misquote here. But he says something like make sure you tell him every day yes he's gonna cares. Message is make sure. My son knows how much i love him. Because the five am was like family and he fucking pulls and then we get our full like graduate transition into life flashing before his is all the water. And then you're sort of. Yeah it's so guide by lady pulls him out we show letty swim down and grab him as he comes to with no way to live and and you're like he came back to life because he felt letise presents letise there. She's like i don't we don't leave anyone behind. And you're just i fucking pop. I'm just stoned enough. I'm just happy enough to be back at the movies. Yeah and i just pop. And i turn i turn to my wife and i'm like holy shit. It got me and she goes are you. I was like yeah. And then i like looked away and i went heavier. I went like movie. I went like like the second. I looked away from her. And just hit me. Like a whole 'nother wave but that fucking sequence is so vin where it's like the heroic moment he gets. His nearly is the sacrifice to save his family by in like a king kong. Hercules was that killed the beast. After right yeah but it is. I just i find that as as goofy and as broad as it is and you know. It's easy to mock just centering. A franchise this big setting constantly as your barometer like the thing that everything needs to be working around of just like the power of chosen family. Yeah it's it's once again a thing that is hitting twice as hard for me now. I know a lot of people like quarantine with their family. Went home saw them. Whatever like i did not see most of my family for the better part of a year. I truly think. I didn't see my father for fifteen months. My sister fifteen months. I still haven't seen my mom or brothers in person since december twenty thousand. Yeah yeah i mean just. I'm coming up on like to like one and a half full years not my family and living and not to jump on here but like living this last year on the west coast my entire family and my my wife's entire family lives on the east coast. Our friends were our family for like the last year. That's what i was gonna say. So it's like whether or not you saw your family during this. It's like that's your family. Those are the people you have right like when when push comes to shove in a crisis moment you go back to them. You work out whatever you have with them or try or whatever but it's like you don't you don't choose your family right and the fast and furious movies are so much about like people you choose and the promises you make to them and those are the people that i think both in a year like we just lived through you rely on more than ever you value more than ever and you miss more than ever you know. I've spent so much time in the last year thinking about people that i like want to be better friends to and even just in a very bare minimum sense of like i should check in on them more often. I just tell them how much i value them more often. I've become such a cornball of just like flat out just telling everyone. I love them. Because i've just gone to this zone where i'm just like i don't know just kind of felt like we were all gonna die like if you love somebody. Tell them you love. Like don't have any fucking shame about that in casual conversations that way now you know. I'm just going to here for him. Man fucking grateful for everyone in my life that i like you know and when you spend a year going like who do i know that's going to die and who can i no longer see now on the other side of the country. You know it really makes you value that she didn't care about it and it's like that's that's what these movies are about at the end of the day it's fucking it. It was just the timing of the my emotional everything about it. Just hit so well that it fucking and it was. The movie was long. The movie did showcase way too many but not too many so many fucking said pieces. It was a lot of things but this movie was so many things to me. And it just fucking. I'm so and honestly i've enjoyed talking to you and hearing you talk about how much you liked it. Like eighty five percent as much as i enjoyed sitting in the theater watching it like but i felt the same. We're talking about it with other people. It's so nice to have this kind of like communal thing again. Even if even the people. I didn't get to see the movie in theaters with right. Have been texting about it with since doing podcast with or whatever it does feel different than i feel like so much of the last year where if felt like so much of the shit that found itself at the center of the discourse was kind of because we were all gawking at it or dunking on it right right. There wasn't kind of communal thing that just sort of felt joyous like this. This is sort of like weirdly enough like a post war olympics right. It was sort of like you know the toronto fam- brought us all together. Like this is like a shirley temple movie like coming out of the great recession. You know exactly exactly. It's like look that's let's put it behind us. The future is bright features. A ton of cars. Buffering some cleavage. And we're ready to fuck in the sexuality of these movies always makes me laugh where it's just like it's like pg thirteen music video sexuality where it's like let's just show butts once or twice so we know that like that's a movie for four men but otherwise there's no other like else like that no it really has become now just the one token at some point. The car drives up to some sort of party where there are a lot of muscle cars parked outside and women in bikinis dancing on top of the cars. Just gotta happen once per movie. pump pump. Some fucking right now and some south american adjacent music just like the fuck and steel drum. Beat fuck i'm so hyped now griffin thank you so much for fucking coming on high and mighty it look. I truly has become a thing. I look forward to as much as i look forward to the next fast and furious movies us being able to do this powell and i just like it enrich. It's like reading. It's like my version of directors commentary. It just makes me. You're so informed and so smart and have such interesting bringing ankles into that. I'm not thinking about no totally and it's just like get into fucking unhappy. Yeah exactly and chocolate on the joy of the thing. Yeah and it's like you pointed out a few things that made me feel like such a richer enjoyment level of the movie. And i'm like fuck man and then also this movie brought us together. I mean we've talked. We've talked for a few hours this month. Exclusively about fast to and about fast nine. Which is i. This is like yes. Yeah it's like the brought us together to connect across the fucking country in post pandemic world like that's like but not only that. I don't think you'll disagree with me saying this. I do feel like doing our i. I and mighty the franchise up until seven episode. Is the thing that finally made us friends. Like we were guys who knew each other and had done some shit together and liked each other. I felt like that was the threshold where it's like. Oh we could just be like friends. Yeah well we talk about time. You were like this is weird that you're in my house. Like yeah they don't know you that well and a handful of people who've been in my new la apartment and my mom's house just in tyler. The only maybe felt like a weird arbitrary factory like tyler that status makes sense griffin newman. That's kind of strange like him. At like level to four years later he did a web series iran to additional once in between such a scattered thing. But i felt like from the time that we've done that episode. We have only gotten closer and closer every year. Yeah and it's because. I think we both like obviously anyone who listens to either of our podcast knows we have like a an immense love for movies and arguably from sort of two different worlds of loving them like and you know and coming together on that and it's like oh i'm gonna get corny now but this is like the fucking magic movies is that it's like griffin and i are friends because these cool movies exists and that is what's called the hawks fandom yes yes we have like a friend language you know. I guess i feel like they're movie. Conversations that can have with you. I can't have with other people. You know what we have a backlog of we understand. I understand so much what you get out of these fast and furious movies and as vice versa. It's a two way street there and now we know how to communicate what to get out of other movies this. Because we're so you. And i will send you to their jokes of like you know what type of character i would like to play in a movie and i feel like you're the one person i know who gets that and vice versa. Totally about the like gandolfini guy who's gone undercover for too long as a little too comfortable thing i'm like i know exactly what you're talking here. My five character types. Where if if we have to wait a long time for fast ten. I think we came up with a fun. High and mighty episode lakes come up with characters for each other and ourselves like archetypes in different moves. That's a fun episode g. I got good news for you. Do you know when fast ten begins production. No i do not shane. Ury twenty twenty two and it is production on what they are calling fast ten part one part two. They're doing the next to doing the avengers. Doing the two part finale so they will film all of next year. I believe that means. We're only two years away. Benefit of the pandemic is that they were able to do all the script development work. They're actively in pre production. Now they will begin filming in january and then it saved to. It's safe to assume potentially that twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four are when we get ten and ten that seems to be what vin is communicating. Summer twenty twenty two in summer. Twenty twenty three. Yeah yeah yes. That's a tight. Turn around. Maybe i can do it. It's this crew. Just don't let them get their cars. Never let them get behind the wheel of look done two hours. I feel like the episode is hit a good emotional end. I don't want to belabor this but just a thing. I want to leave out there. Okay and we will resume this thread the next time we talk on or off mike. What does that mean for the titling possibilities if vin is no longer thinking of it as fast ten in fast eleven but thinking of it as ten one in fast ten part to. Yeah you mean where. Where are we gonna get. Colin's where are we gonna get subheadings. What's going to happen call them. Is there a number involved in that is. Are you literally going to call it. Ten one in ten to are you going to call the move and be fast. Ten furious ten numbers in there anyway. That's what i think and then you put it on. You put a four hour version on blu ray and called fast and furious tent right like they did that with the x men comics recently. I don't know if the house of action the sort of powers of ten hours just like. That's what we're there were two different series. But they're in dialogue with each other. That's what i want. I want fast ten furious. Ten hyper cut yes. Yes and they right griffin. Where can people find you. I mean if they're listening to this podcast they know you host blank check of wonderful movie. Podcast that i've been a guest on now three times. I've been a listener of for five years and have the most sporadic to do list. Based on the most my my letterbox to watch because of blank check is like so insane. Nine yagi movies and like three movies from one michael mann because i also want to rewatch is right. If it's something. I haven't seen the longtime and and also movies that i think might eventually be action boys movies. I can't listen to until we either. And now i'm like what i have left is crazy i've been on a demi cake because of you guys you guys you'll you'll mostly like you don't cherry pick but you'll you'll do a mini series in your own time and your own order text from you and i'm like oh he's like in the demis zone months later. Yeah i randomly watch philadelphia. And then i'm like fuck. I gotta watch three hundred demi movies. Now no listen a blank. Check blanchette special features on patriae on. Oh this is a relevant plug. I think i'm going to. I think i'm going to spoil this here. It's early but i think this is the right place to spoil this blink. Special features are patriot. We do commentaries on franchise instead of our mean feed where it's sort of like more director base. Right the next franchise. Were doing which i believe will start end of july on my timing here. We're finishing up twilight right now. How you maybe. It's beginning of august. The next franchise were doing. Is riddick holy shit. Holy shit. The chronicles the chronicles. So sign up for that. If you'd like hearing me talk about a vin and you do and if you don't know if you do trust me you do. I don't wanna hear anyone. Besides vin or griffin vin forever and and july hoping to date right here july twenty third. I believe it is friday. July twenty third masters of the universe revelation. The new animated series in which. I play fucking work. Oh one of my all time favorite characters in all pop culture offer job harder but i think that show's going to rip ass. I think it's fucking good. I've seen the trailers seen some of the art. I think air they know it's like oh mogae and interesting new. Take on the look and yet. Can i this to just selling this connecting all this fast and furious talk because i just really wanted to play this part because i love orca and i feel like he's a character that some people hate and he's been done dirty in the past. I want. I want them to come to the table. Really really invest in making work. Oh justice marco. I didn't know how good an arc they were gonna ride for or go. It's fucking incredible. The shit they wrote. It's it is. Because i truly think people are gonna get more emotionally affected by orca than they ever thought possible. And he's at so off real fucking kind of incredible hero ark but didn't know any of this when i was like a campaigning for the part trying really really really fucking hard to get. It didn't read the scripts until after the fact was a little weird because it was like other making this show. It's kevin smith it's a little more adult oriented. It's like anime. They wanna make it more like action based on all this sort of shit. And i was like but he man is inherently goofy like masters the universe i love but is inherently the goofiest shit in the world. And that's why it's great. It's just ad executives putting everything that a little boy likes in one right. And i think the trailer which is great and is representative of the visual. Look the show. And i think the emotional stakes of the show in action all that sort of shit but i want to reassure people. The show is so fucking goofy and all the right ways. I think it has that good fast and furious balance of just like which things are we going to take serious as a heart attack. And which things do we have to own are rooted in the corner of this thing. That's that's the fucking world. I wanna live in. That really emotional. It's really funny. it's a bad ass. I think it's gonna be really really good. So i five episodes drop july twenty third. Hecht fucking yeah. Check that out. Checkout bike check. Check out the fucking patriot on. I'm at gabriel's all social media. If you like movie bug as i have a movie. Podcast called action boys. Sixteen thousand three right on yourself that you're paying for one feed that cost twice as much and yet and his features just very long conversations about two different types of movies from two different types of commentators. By shitheads. That was a hit down. Podcast it a part of the world where there are no rules. Holy shit holy shit guys them so definitely have not watched this since i rented it on. That's em doing. His jackson main impression heart there. That is dated. Please stop doing that. Dated comedy. Here's the comedian. I've known for over a decade. I i love them. You will feel the same way. It's sean okada zero chance. I can match that energy. That is just dot. That i would i. I love it. I love hearing it. I love waking my child up while he's sleeping in the car with your intro. He knows you're the number one boy we love it better not forget. I gave us weird requests but for my son's sixth birthday. He kind of wants you to show up and do your intro. Your podcast introduced him as as number one. Boy did sean. Thank you so much for coming on. This is the commerce. We've known each other for a long time but recently we we've both connected to each other's twitter or stories about art youths because they don't up at all with who we are as people now not at all like it's confusing to. When i talked to like my friends from growing up. They like they hate book. It's somebody with a family in a job and no two posters on his wall book. Yeah my family is like. I remember my brothers used to roast me and two thousand and five when i moved to brooklyn because they would say like. What do you get a lot today. And using the wifi. It's not yes. Wifi fancy no wi fi. we're villages jerking off at our jobs back huge utility now for people. It's okay to use fight. That's ethan at only bro. None of that. Gay wife plugging but yeah i mean. It's so strange. And i feel like yeah. I've known you for so long. I'll never forget the first time i met you you. I auditioned for this poker. Show on comedy central. God yes dave hill in addition or something. Yeah yeah it was like there's like it was just anyone with a misshapen body with your in new york and you're like kind of potato a they're like here you go. We need farside level actors. We need like guys you they. I think it was like there was two teams and like you played with a regular person. Jillian mccullough was the host so they knew he talked and then like and then nyc. I auditioned and i remember going. Like i thought he killed it and that they like. You didn't get it. I was like who did ask. Julian like john gabor's. I've never heard of this guy that went to the taping. And i was like oh makes perfect sense. Why he got. He's really funny. It seems like he's played poker before. God i didn't even i remember auditioning for it but not shooting it. Which is so funny. It was editor with like they didn't shoot in fucking studio. They shot it in nightclub basement. So weird oh my god yes. Yes the amount of jobs. I did for two hundred dollars where i like committed my everything i had in my body. Riffing everything i could do when they're like great. Here's one hundred fifty dollars and get picked up countless times in new york. Oh my god yet. The amount of time that i was on. Vh one that. I've never heard other than my times. That like black women have stopped me at like comics at foxwoods the daylight like was i know i z. Cars that's yeah like. I guess i did talk about gathered rostow alive. Sean o'connor goes inside. Bush guiding thought this would be dirtier well. but and. that's that's crazy. Because that's such a degenerate setup for the two of us like non union basement comedy poker improv. Show is how we balls brand into each other for the first. It's perfect. that was one thousand eight. It like migros by animal. Collective with that sort of bridges. The gap between your new jersey youth and your current los angeles adulthood the same way. It's sorta like one in the past basement poker one foot in the future of making two hundred dollars a week doing something that something that no one else can do. Apparently except for me. But i still can only make a couple hundred business. Rose i just wanna say you deserve the role. You're incredible in it and it should have gone on for at least one season. Yeah we should have seen one episode. Thank you by the way. Thank honestly you just don't have to say the date if you're like. They were developing a poker based show. Chris moneymaker whenever it's a spun con for oakley's and ot's to four cops by cops. I want i want to talk about because so frequently i feel like i'm in the same position as you where i'm like. Oh shit man. All god i remember when we through a computer printer off the overpass and we hit that woman or whatever like what. And i'm like oh i was a kid the yeah like i think i'm have i have like the relatable teenage years where people i tell a story and they're like were you concerned that you may have killed someone of my didn't even think about it lacking like i remember being in scavenger hunt. We took like we went into a bowling alley and took like a bunch of bowling balls. There was like seven of us. We've piled into a car with all these bowling balls. That we just saw from boeing out and we like rolled them down way pitches so dangerous. What's the statute of limitations cop. Some serious like some of this might be considered aggravated assault or something. There is always worry because like i. I'm prepared to talk about all of my tristate scumbag. And like i am also work. Like i worked for really questionable dea to mike but like a gun in my mouth next all about that. Sounds like yeah. You actually use the bartending college until the two owners. And i got in a fistfight in the kitchen. And they were like what am. I may like albanian. Mafia and had to demonstrate physical dominance over. Here people are like. Why was your life. I was like i needed cash. Mobster fucking extra shift at the those. Whether i'm like calling them the albanian mafia. Al out on a podcast. Now i'm gonna get fucking i watch bosch. I'm ready to get fucking ice. Oh all the time that. That is the biggest i would always like kinda shoot my mouth off. Then i'm like oh wait. That could really come back you like. He never go to graduation party and This kid i went to high school like his dad was like in the shish we were in there and say i'm gonna i'm gonna do this. Family does when that's when that's the case. Put one finger on their nose to make a crooked and go well you know. He's a little guy friends over there. Grandpa would do that. We would just know what that meant of again. Stay away from jimmy or whatever. Oh yeah we were all like keeping our we like kind drunk and then we just started now off to like these like just truly like the guys who were like probably like sixty five and would still kick the shit out of eighteen year olds right. Yeah we were like mouthing off it. We're like what am i friday. Pull us. I think it's time for you to go. It's like my dad's friends or go to curb style view. Is this tristate. I feel like this is the thing everywhere. But i find this was very. We had one of our friends in our little small nerd group. His older brother was like seven years older and cooler like was i was like a in our school. It was like the two ways to be cool. Where either as a jock. Or as a dirtbag that was like the delineation and that delineation would fistfight weekly or monthly versus dirtbag rumble by the by the smoking section. They called it the ashtray where everyone smokes eggs on campus on and ice school. And be like there's a fucking jocks versus dirtbags and like we were like confidently calling themselves the dirt with the dirtbags. It's of course no that is. I think that's like the only like i. I remember very. I was friends with the dirtbags and i remember i i wanted to. I wanted to get out of this. Rut and i. Would i join my school play at all. My friends made fuck me. So i quit back. And that is what it is like to grow the tri state area. If you have adrian outside of like maybe working on new jersey transit. If you don't want to be a cop they have no idea. What gary coleman's Special the great depression where he mentions wanting to drink sprite as a kid but like would get them roasted too hard like they would call for drinking screaming wildly relatable where it's like my my dad's my uncles and my dad's friends would be like thought i was gay because i like movies like a little too much knows a little too much anything anything. That's stepped out of the line of like alpha. Male dogs was just instantly attacked with homophobia. Misogyny just like everything in my life. Don't get called the girl. Don't get called gay. Everything in my life was like avoid. Those to think big time i mean like i specifically remember like my mom got orbits once that like that like soda that had like little orbs in it. Little like jelly boggles era. Had it and i was like. Oh it's rules. And then i brought my friends and we were like. Let's get some of this this drink raving about it and they were like that's fucking colorful com. You're drinking worse thing now. It's like your like your mom. Your mom calm. And i was just like no this is like why are you doing this. You put shower cream on your case adila yesterday. Man ascom right. That's a sorry. Sorry that's a whole other thing. I can't to this day. It may is like stressing tower because like my friend's name again. And i'm just like i now have aversion to it. I'm fucking broke it and then you can over like this is such a thing to you over defend yourself and then that's more of the problem like to give you an example. We were drunk. My family was on vacation in the bahamas or something some all inclusive place when i was in like twenty one or whatever bombed out of our minds i my brother like everyone's making fun of me and i'm so fucked up and i just say like why can't everybody. Just leave me alone. And i go to run into the other room and i trip and fall and like slide into the bathroom and that this was two thousand and three my family's still says when everybody just leave me alone whenever i'm like worked up in any capacity eighteen years. I don't even remember saying it out loud because i was blacked out but i hear about it constantly from my family still. Oh my god. I i went to a this is something that has been brought up a lot with all of my friends. I went to catholic school in the small town jersey shore. It's like this like super shitty town has like a doused people who lives there and everyone kind of goes to the school and in an eighth grade basketball game. When i was getting put in. I had breakaway pants. And i tried to pull them. And i took my whole body up in the air and landed on my head in front of like everyone i knew and say this day. Everyone just mock me about how excited. I was the finally get to go basketball game myself. A concert and i'd like for some reason get concussion. Made me gay and to this. also we. We should probably say anyone who's like twenty five and the state area. There experience might be different now because we are also. We're we're in. We're talking the night going to high school in the late nineties. Where it's like that's the tail end of like. Actually we're not supposed to talk to children like that anymore. The last few years. I the example. I always use that my college. My high school football coach started calling me gay boy because my last name and then i had him in history class and he called me gay boy and then everyone in the school and the teachers and everyone started calling me k. Boy and it was insane and like at the time. I was just like this sucks. But what can you do. It's my last name and then like ten years later like ten years ago i was like that's it would never happen now. That would be it. Said he was literally on the cover of the new york. Post is getting fired for doing that. I mean they did get fired years later for allowing like a little too intensive hazing at a not a little too intensive hazing for a sexual assault to happen during a hazing at my high school. You know like. I was friends with a kid who went to another high school. Many transferred to our high school. And he he he. The reason why he transferred is like hit the coaches of his football team freshman year. I just shoved approves. They've got yeah. It happened a kid got sodomized by like a golf club or a broomstick at at our high school. This was like five years after i graduated. There's but the football coach was sort of like maybe part of covering it up or try to make it. Say it's not a big deal and they fucking. I fired him. Sorry coach mac. Peace out. I like your hair. Oh yeah i. i'm so lucky. I quit freshman football. Because simone at the moment that the Like the coaches were teaching you how to take out other players legs. I was like as an offensive lineman. I'm like oh other. Schools are learning how to do that to fucking my legs and definitely more athletic. And i i remember i remember. My high school started with me. Cry in front of my freshman football coach critic give my practice for and like he just lost all respect for me. I didn't have off for you. So i had to like white drugs after that. That's the only way out of that. That really makes that. that's relatable. I cried in eighth grade wrestling. When i got. I got dominated pin so hard to do made me cry. And that was like the one event sporting event my dad was like not at work floor was just like it's okay. Johnny crushed by. I was like fuck me. The amount of sketchy shit. I did also pales comparison. The amount of sketchy shit that happened to me that like talking about earlier. My friend's older brothers who were like sort of like tough guys. They were in like a street gang but it was like just middle class white kids fist fighting other middle middle class white kids. But these guys would have. We would be at my friend's house playing dvd. On a friday night and the brother would like kick the door open. It'd be like come outside. it's swimming races. Loser gets pelted with a basketball and we have to do like like like literally like thunderdome level like entertainment like this older brother would make two of us tire hands together and put on one hockey glove each and fight for him and his friends like truly like i. I have so much sketchy shit density in the past where it's like. I'm surprised i'm not that normal. But i'm i'm i'm proud of. How normal adjusted. Yeah no of course like yeah mean. The older like my friends older brothers all would like we were like right around that age where we're probably like twelve during like nitro parties. Cw monday nitro parties. Where the wwf activated. Monday night nitro for me. As i had fallen out of wrestling and kicked right back in with sting and wolfback and everybody oh we watch wrestling and then. Our friends are older brothers. All-star watching wrestling. They got back into it at that time and then they would have like crazy nitro parties that we would be watching wrestling and they would just keep this shit out of us like i have a permanent scar on my leg because my friend got like a glass thing broke it over his head by like that like you. I guess like a seventeen year old boys didn't realize that everything was gimmick in wrestling sugar. Glass guys smash so my friend got that. And then they threw me over. And i landed on the glass and i have a permanent scar on my knee for gushing blood and getting pussy for cry. The all their brothers friend group used to do something called the stamp of approval to us where they'd be like all right. Everyone time for the stamp of approval and that meant they would lift up your shirt and open hand. Slap you as hard as they could in the band. Give you a handprint on your back. So it was like fucking arakai. In lord of the rings we ought handprints on our back and they would have girls with them and the girls. Like we're like fourteen. These guys are nineteen and twenty and the chicks are all eighteen seventeen eighteen nineteen and they're hot and so we're like any chance to be around them and they'd be like gabriel. Get on the fucking our names to jp gabor's so everything was gay p gabriel's and then my friend sanford. They call them. Santa gay could. Yeah and they they would like make me. Do the truffle shuffle on the diving board. Like and i'm so. I'm so now comfortable with my body but not at the time and especially in front of women and i'd be like and they're like faster jiggle it more and i'm like august or just absolutely really like broke me down and built me back up in a terrible way but the one thing i don't have is the desire to pass that shit on so many people fucking just turn like like. My dad is was a great example of someone who was beaten by his father and then was like. I'll never beat my kids like that. Y'all hit them to prove it's like slightly better than your dad way better than you did not hit any kids or even in adam all right i mean no but that is like like i still have a complex would take your shirt off in a pool like joe sat wrong how much abuse i got. My nickname was nugget. Like an older kid called me nugget. Ooh hard that's a hard off. All my friend's older brother rob. He had go from betsy who i can't remember what she looks like but i remember her name betsy because he just kept go. Look it dug in steady state. Move them around. It was so humiliating. Okay here's a little bit of a front front porch to a story. But the group i used to hang out with in high school guys called mike and the john's because we're like five minutes and four john's because it was all white kids born in nineteen eighty-two and we we were at a sleepover party and a rumor had been going around highschool that something was maybe it was even junior high was eighth grade. Something was wrong with my dick because my girlfriend at the time was giving me a hand job and i didn't come so she tells all her friends that there's something wrong with my dick they tell my guy friends at this party. It comes out in front of like my friends. they're like yet janice chain. You have something weird with your dick reading. Come when she was jerky you off. And i'm i'm an eighth grader. ninth grade. I'm coming into my own like a confident. Funny person as a self defense mechanism will later learn from therapy. But i go like. That's because she's not good at it. Eight hundred the alii and she's doing like rodeo grip down. My rusty corduroys like anything can happen. I don't comp so i'm telling you i'm a jerk off too much and the next morning at breakfast. I guess my friend's older brother who's this guy mark. Who famously would come from the gym and put dry protein powder in his mouth and then drink milk out of the free cough and choke on it but like get it down that fast the most long island should ever hear. You're the jerk off boy like well. We're all jerk off buys said heard you jerked off so much girl can make you calm. I'm like that's not what we were saying and classic. His girlfriend is like trash. That's the jerk off boy. My friend's mom comes home. The woman's house who gave us permission to sleep there and he's like ma. It's jerk off boy gotta say hi to off. I'm like it's not a creative name. And now everyone is calling me jerk off for like twenty year olds are calling a fourteen year. Old boy jerk off boy forever. I mean but that that is like what the tristate area was to be. Is that like everyone is just getting made fun of all the time. I remember one sleep over my friends. Parents like loudly fucked and then like everyone was just like. Oh man yoga's parents thought so loud and why not even his fault of his own in hindsight. It's actually amazing thing that his parents he'll love you. I don't even see my parents kiss you fucking loser. Your parents have sex with each other. You're loving family exactly like seriously like my parents are. Just super repressed. Irish people who liked super-conservative. I think they've had sex three total times saying yeah. It's always the death star as always the death star shot with my dad. Only one way to do this so like yeah like it was a it was just like my friend was like no like shut up like just getting white really upset that like we were talking about his is his parents fucking and it's Something to make fun of it. All i will say that that energy propelled me into comedy like the ability to be able to handle anything. People say about me in public or in private like just being like that's my family members have said worst me so you can't hurt me twitter comment and then secondly just like having to constantly fight back like it became an my family is still like this. My nuclear family is still brutal. Where all brutal to each other and it's just like other people. Don't i assume that was everyone's life and especially once. We got the comedy. Once i started doing comedy and i got with other comedians. Like all these motherfuckers are just like me you fucking dumpy brick and people are like oh man and i'm like oh sorry i still find myself in conversations with like friends go. I'm like i've never had to fight with the fridge about a big like. They usually just take like friendship. Is and then i'm like. Oh no i'm an idiot. I grew up in new jersey. I started doing comedy new jersey. And then i moved to new york with all night new jersey frets. Either from new jersey or from comedy. What you're not best places to pull for emotional depth. Yeah so it's like i have. I have like a recent fred. He's from georgia. And i'm like wait. You don't like getting called by me making fun little dick. That's what we did. That's what friends do you feel that energy right away. The first time. I really feel that is with like i call them in laws but like any of my wife's friends that i ended up that she needs independently that i ended up becoming tight with where we'll just hang out and it's like this is my friend jimmy and i'm like what are you fucking talking about dude roast them. He's like you can't and you're like oh my god right. People are not equipped for this behavior. Because it's not what happens to executives at companies. Like me and my friend i might like. Oh yeah put it into fucking nemo bro. And he's like Likes sorry. I don't know how to be around people like i know that happened With like my wife's friends where. I was like just being self deprecating and then like after like is he like really depressed when whenever i like whenever. That's how you know you're with someone that is not doesn't fully understand your from the same places when you're not fat and you're like dude. I'm assuming i'm laughing through this. And also i am shipping. And it's like oh my god. This person's never sat across from someone. Who's like i am going to come in split-second with my little fucking dick. It's humiliating crisis. People are on. Yeah like i always forget that like you know like somebody who's been dead does doesn't just randomly say. Oh if i if. I never have i shook brianna head. I busted my pants. What's actually not possible. Okay do that. That is so real the look on someone else's face when you're like just a reminder of the company i'm in like it's not the same whereas something superstar you're like well. I wasn't around jan six. Because i was over in washington. Dc with buddies. You know just swaying flags around with friends and everyone's like on all my god. No i'm obviously joking. I'm not jay johnstone. Oh yeah. I mean like just the all those jokes i yeah i guess just. When did you start started at nineteen so like in my head. My whole adult life is just like talking about my dick and public. Yeah i started doing sketching improv comedy in college like eighteen nineteen years old and i instantly like just the filthiest dirtiest most. I was so like eventually there was like a moth show kind of at. Ucd called knights of our lives which was just like i think you brought probably earliest storytelling show. And i had not known that. Like i was developing that skill set. I'm not a good joke writer. But i'm very good at revealing dark shirt about myself comfortably and it was like that show came out. I was like well. I was telling these stories that used to be the people that had no relation to and it was like yes. Fourteen years old drunk. My friend was getting a blowjob in front of me. And then a guy in the head with a bottle and i got knocked out and lost a tooth and didn't tell my parents because i don't want to get in there like what this is never happened. Anyone saying sorry. I truly like every single person. I know has like these outrageous stories. I like like. I got to spend it in highschool for taking fate gay pictures so we can send them to girls in like fucker straight which is like i got no junior high for posting a ranking of the ten hottest girls and our junior high. I was like trying to be american pie. came out. My friends are more fucked up than these. We're already doing worship. And these guys were five years younger than that to me and like two of my friends in high school. I remember we had a live journal. That was all about a janitor. Sunny raping this senior matt. We were like freshman and like we hated the senior so much that we wrote a blog as the janitor at it was just like erotica about him to senior and one of our friends left it open on the computer and like it became like a huge thing like our parents had to get involved. There are parents. Were very confused. like what. what are we want. Someone launched bash board a moment. We got the internet at our school. Which was i my junior year. They're like weird asked. The moment we got it someone long something called the mepu- bash board and it was just blind items about everyone at school. it's like john gabor's sex. Bj carbs cocker whatever. We went to the gym together and it was like everyone knows. Gabriel is gay. Sucks all the time. I was in the gay straight alliance. Because i truly wanted to just because i became so powerfully confident that i was so beating everyone to the punch all the time. Then i just joined the only straight member of the gay straight alliance in nineteen ninety eight long island out of spite to other people almost to say like bring it on in some capacity because i i i knew at the time it was like i can handle this. No one here's a grownup example. Like modern something. I always talk. I'll be in mixed company. And i'll say something and i'm i'm almost forty. It's weird for me to even say this every once in a while. But i'll be like what's wrong with that dude. He's never been punched in the face and then like someone who go. Yeah well neither have. I and like other eight people party like i've never been punched in the face and i'm like what's how are you forty having never been punched in the face. They're like. I mean when i was like a kid. I'm like no i'm talking. Nineteen you didn't get knocked out at a bar and they're like no i'll with what were you. What were you doing at parties. what were you doing. I remember going to like visiting my friends at school and going to like frat parties and like starting shit at their school. Just like our whole group of friends. Are mary went to what was at a stopped it in new jersey. We went down there and they have black light beer pong and we were just. I kept turning the light on and they were like. Please stop doing that. Okay turning out again just pushing buttons like just like please murder man ditch my body in the woods. Please swing at me. Because i don't think i'm going to get laid tonight and i need to get this fucking energy out of by screaming in each other's faces over like the amount of like parties. I'm so okay at parties now but the amount of parties i would be like dragged out of for like by my even my own friends. You know they're like all right all right gone down. It's like he blindsided you because you called his girlfriend fat dude he was right like oh yeah. That was the crazy thing is like. I like when i moved to new york. I brought that energy to new york which was just like it was not meh it was not it was not received. Well like relatable. I instantly was considered a bully at uc. Because i gave everyone flashbacks to their fucking nerdy theater. Highschool lives when i showed up and i was just like from rugby practice with my rugby bags. I got this fucking wack. Harold shit you guys wanna do into it. I love improv. i'm. I'm a student of it. I'm just going ape shit and then baby was just acts like this dude. We're all like nerds. We're all just supportive of each other. I'm like okay. Oh i remember getting thrown out of like comedians halloween party. And i was like no one is undoubted. You kicked me out of party. And i punched the wall and it was like some and i broke my and that that was the energy i was bringing like back to school. Back to the office. Back try dot plant people dot co slash mighty mighty me and my friends in college me me and my housemates would get like they were all long island and staten island guys. I wasn't friends with them before college. But we connected. We would just be like someone. Just start some shit or like we'd be at the diner and some guy would say some shit to us. Can you not keep it quiet over there and me and my friends have like. Yeah sure no problem. And then whisper about the guy the entire time and then leave know which car was his and then slash or four tires with forks and knives stolen from the diner like just committing committing legit in high school. We used to run through people's backyards and then like sometimes throw a chair through like they're sliding glass door like for no reason other than pure vandalism my i. ira my friend. nick. Every party went to high school no matter what he would piss in the families like toothbrush holder just guard like and i think me and my buddies would just take the remotes from every house party. Knowing the most biggest problem we had like a drawer full of universal remotes by the end of the year. Yeah i mean that like yeah Just yet fucking vandalism. I remember white senior year of high school. Me and all my friends. We worked as telemarketers By this summer and like anyone who was like near us like in a twenty five mile radius if they like were rude to us on the phone telemarketers. They're gonna be rude recalling people in new jersey to let you hide are we had their address. We went on like this. We were just adding people's houses that were for to and it's like we didn't care about the job we just wanted to like fuck society or something like it just wanted to do violence to some degree whether the thing that got us in a lot of hot water was right when we first got cars. It was christmas time and this was in the late nineties. A popular thing and long island at the at the christmas celebrating houses were those sort of like white cut out deer that were made from like two legs and body and they kind of just like piece together. We would put collect like dozens from the neighborhood. Set them up in like a big reindeer orgy in the middle of the street and then drive our cars through them smashing them off that. That's that's worse like that's way better than what we did. Was we recall the reindeer hoping and mike. We wait until it was like one am and then like whenever somebody had like that eight reindeer we just make them all fuck and like try to make as much noise as possible of people come out. Part of the fun was having a run. Always the most suburban fucking trashed thing you could do is along the same lines we would. When it snowed we would hide behind our friends house and all have like ice balls and the second car would roll down the street. We'd all crank and they would like look around and sometimes they would get out and chase but we knew all the side like sneaky ways around people's yards from manhunt so we were like possible the fire and we're like we're doing guerilla warfare citizens get all over time. I there was a couple of things that we did that. I'm just like what the fuck were we even thinking about like. We used to play midnight basketball where we just drive around with a basketball and go and start. playing in. someone's driveway obscure planking fun. I like that playing like hard right to onto as much noise. And they're like just coming out with baseball bats and shared and we would just laughing at them said the amount of friends dad's like look like not even friends but like guys you knew from the neighborhood but you wanna go fuck with them so you go fuck with them and the amount of those people's dad's i've seen in their underwear holding a bat is like weirdly. Hi oh my god yes and that. That is something that you say that. I'm like that is relatable debate. I don't think it's relates. Do a lot of people have like this fucking eight like stand by me life where we are like probably also the last generation to have like your mom my my and my mom and dad super strict and overprotective but they would be like like all right. I'm taking my bike out. My friends like okay. It'd be home at six thirty no way to get in touch from judas six thirty. I'm just a fucking loose cannon in the neighbor. Oh totally like. I remember like we like one time like we always would like just run across the highway for fun. That was a big thing because we used to go to brands bicycle shop. Which was one town over. And you can take the overpass and throw milkshakes off of it or you can run across the highway like a psychopath and we did that. Get way too frequently. Yeah we were like we run across the highway like steel baseball and basketball cars from cvs and then like shoplift shop. Used to go to france bicycle shop as they sold skateboard stuff and one person would ask questions and other person would just like steel as much as possible. Then we started stealing for this guy. Dave so had a company called struggled dave's cards in town and he sold pogs and baseball guards in marvel cards and we would just go in there. One person would be like. Oh that's an interesting autograph. You turn around and talk about it. We would just be like sweeping shit into our pockets. Oh yeah no. I remember i like i remember just like walking out with card stuffed into like my boxers like definitely south park boxers because my age and i remember wearing boxers under jeans and hating it and being like there's no if i wear tidy whiteys everyone will make fun of me i will make you. Yeah i still. It's still this like weird. Hang up to like like eventually became boxer briefs which i think are pretty pretty good. Yeah i'm box. That's you have to end up there. Because i had i had to get breached out of my life because it was like the generation of your underwear show based on the fit of all your clothes and it better be boxers or else you're gonna get roasted for wearing the underwear. Everyone else in the world is where no makes no sense the complex that i have about a lot of things to real the amount of shareware on my tiny come on man. It's like what what everyone wears. Yeah oh my god. Yes st shoplifting. Here's here's a big one. We used to shop and this combined to classic board suburban scumbag things we used to shoplift lighters and then use that to set things on fire. And you want we used to like take paper bag lunch bag and put a bunch of like flammable stuff inside and like a firework to crab apples. Like your friends or something and then you would like light it on fire and like throw it somewhere and just watch it. Burn see what happens. And one time i did that at my elementary school. I'm probably in probably seventh grade at this point but we're at my old elementary school. Throw it on the grass set the entire field on fire and it's like one full suburb block of like eight foot. high flames. every neighbor is outside their house. I call nine one one on myself every neighbors outside hoses like trying to put the fire out the fire department comes. I get taken home in a police car and my parents aren't even home. The cop is what do you mean anything parents get on like. My mom gets home for work at seven. Thirty and my dad gets home at midnight. And they're like and what's actually get out of school to thirty or whatever like home allowed for five hours. And i had to go to my neighbor's house and i just sit at my neighbors. My neighbor's dad is. I can't believe you did that. I guess i'll wait for your dad to come home so you've got trouble. I guess such a weird vibe. But that's a solid combo. Too awful things that i was into at the time Know that fucking rules. That's that's crazy. I i would often steel like from my jobs and stuff like. Yeah yeah. I feel like that. That might be the most relatable to everyone but everyone cut but like so. But this one time like i would steal here and there from eckerd drugs which now out of business so i feel like i could talk about that but there are these two diner waitresses who were like a year older than me Tara and lauren and like lauren. They were there so hot. They were so hot. like tara. look like christina. Aguilera diner waitresses a year older. I'm in love with these two chicks. They have boobs access mozzarella fries with gravy. Yeah oh my god yes. Of course the cheese fries. They had disadvant- fake tans. Those rings it was like it was crazy. The one girl. Lauren wound up marrying like bon. Jovi nephew hell. Yeah that's like. We're in jersey. That nature ted duchess of new jersey. But i remember they were going to like the bahamas and they were like oh i was like oh i work at eckerd my i can hook you up. If you guys come here and they. They took like seven hundred dollars worth of merchandise. And i was like fake scanning it. Just let them go at. Like funny thing i i got the hook up with. Girls need tampons and makeup. I thought like bronze our subdivision devilish and they came in. They got like hair. Straighter is like they. They went off in like the electron eq section of before. Pissy dude buddy of mine used to work at starbucks. And i would just walk in and he would be like order something cheap but tell me what you actually want. I just have to bring you up for one thing. So i'd always be like others have a small black coffee and he would know that i would want like candy or whatever you know. Phil milkshake thing but then. He started getting braver and braver. I call in a guy great. Ring me up like two dollars. Whatever he'd be like an john and he would put his stuff at this time. It would be a baber bag. I would be like a three hundred fifty dollar. Expresso machine begging. I'd walk out later. Like i gotta come get that we can put that on ebay one hundred fifty dollars for it. We were student so much like high level. Shit themselves convulsing eckerd. I remember like. I worked in the photo section that was like and digital cameras like i came out and i remember going like coming back Working some weekends. When i was in college and like i was just stealing digital cameras and then like trading them for like we'd of prison roles do speaking of photo developing old enough to remember when you had to drop your photos off to get developed and you couldn't have. There's no way to get nude photos. Because they would just take them unless like in your case. I had a friend. Kim shutout kim. She was also shortly. My hair stylists. And i still live on long island. And we're still friends. But kim worked at. Cvs in the photo development. Kings and kim has seen the my dick in my high school girlfriends genitals multiple times as you gotta go to your friends. And i'm like hopefully. She's not making copies but i do want this. New photo of my high school girlfriend stood the only way to get. It is to bring the kim at cvs to process child porn. So site was child porn. I was making it to be yes. Rally roots child porn for us by us. Yeah oh my god yeah. The prisoner train me was like a like a fifty five woman photo department like that was the one rule of like. Hey you're gonna get near photos. Do not like dough pay tajik. Do it just put it in the envelope. And and like every time he came up. I was making copies. Like i had a small treasure trove of every nude i ever printed in in the eckerd bathroom Like in the diaper rack and one time because again in the guys room. I'm like well guy like no one. I know who had kids ever would change their child's diaper new jersey. Go put in one day. I was not in at work. And somebody had to change their kid. And they open the diaper thing and just hundreds or like bright more twenties or fifties nude pictures fell out. That's plenty act superleague dipping. It also questionable problematic. For so fucking. I i mean. I don't want to get into the weeds here but even like all of my hookups and all my girls situations in high school and college were so wildly intense. Like in front of my first blow job was in front of like at the pep rally in front of the first one. I got the first one has in china but i read the first job. I what a funny way to phrase that people be like an was up against the flagpole at my high school pre pep rally my freshman year of high school from a sophomore. The pep rally happens six days in the school. I was like everyone was young. Who is that like gabe even like in front of me. He's leaning and i'm like. Oh my god i'm blackout wasted. And then i gotta just go to high school after that. And i don't even connect that that's like an insane way to live your life. It's like that's the head on the flagpole pole man entered the biggest legend lake thought. I only issue was that it really set the wrong tone for what my experience is going to be like a real early win will. It's like hitting a thousand dollar jackpot the first time you've casino because then you're just gonna lose money for the rest of this is how it always works. That is weird fluke. Give it up man. Yeah that that's crazy that you were the guy because there is always like that i though like the the guy who Like i remember very specifically this kid. Alex eighth grade field trip like we were on the bus. Were going to hershey park and a girl. Lisa blew him and like we. We have like two hours left of drip and he had told everyone like seven thirty in the morning. Gotta blow it aids the seven thirty. Am dude that makes me think. When we used to field trips in highschool we would meet up at high school early to get drunk so we would be. It would be like six forty five. Am and we'd all drink a forty or two and then go on a field trip like hungover by eight thirty. Am i remember like it was like sophomore year. I got in trouble for drinking vodka water bottle during class. And then i like like looking back on it. I'm like what the fuck was. Ideally like going a math class drunk like it was like a weird thing because it was like getting one over on the adults was part of it too of like well. School sucks but being drunk in school is funny so i'll get and like getting drunk before high school. I can't even wake up at six. Am now for tv jobs. And those pay so much money for one day. And i don't have it any. But i used to set my alarm to get fucked up before school to drink beer before school. Get beer beer before school. Like just being like so thrilled that you had it like i. I remember like triggered before school. I remember drinking dory school. I remember one time like for no reason whatsoever and it was like one of my mom's worst moments as she's told me For years after is one time. I went to like an open house when i was supposed to be like a guide for Students and i was like just so high. That got who got caught and start. Doing drugs does every month at school. But like yeah like. I'm like why did i get high before like walking. Eighth graders in their parents are up at school. Slater this one's for me. You know what. I mean like no agency as a key especially our generation. I couldn't make any choice for myself. Everything was dictated by my parents or by school. So any like little grasp of something. You i mean i have. I had insane behavioral issues. Like i could not control myself in school. All i wanted to do was make jokes. Talk to girls fuck with the teachers. I could not stop and clearly. I have like severe attention. Needs like that something like and no one could like wrap their head around in high school. It was just like punish this. I was grounded so much. Even though i was in advanced and honors classes just because i would fuck and talk so much not to any of my work i couldn't deal with it and it was in hindsight. It's like all i needed was like someone to just be like. Okay so you really like movies and you like our can talk. Public speak very well. That's interesting for a kid. Let's harness not not our generation who has become a lawyer doctor or a cop or construction worker union. Job get the fuck out here and move like no everyone for tri-state areas essentially like a lego world. There's only like five occupations. Yes fucking you fall into that and like i think it's also because like everyone around you. They didn't go anywhere. They just stayed in their small town. So there's no outside thinking of that and like your guidance counselor is also from that town like he's like lake he's he's not thinking about anything like especially like in our schools just like you gotta go to rutgers like that was like you go rockers and then you i don't know you marry late anything can happen once you've once you gotta rutgers starts bringing itself falling before your eyes and the second you arrive at rutgers. You never had never done anyone. That like 'cause i remember being like so in like seventh grade i remember making movies with my friends. And one of our friends is this guy. Lou taylor pucci. Who is like an actor now and Like he was on broadway and like we made fun of him at the time because he was on sound of music broadway and my wages made fun of him and like he has now made it. He wanted an independent spirit award and all this stuff and like we mocked him for it and he was like in the we made in seventh grade and like no one when we showed it to. Our parents are like what this is a waste of time. They were get upset that we did this right. It was such a the lego job. Thing is is so real. Like my wife's. We both have two younger brothers. Her brothers are a cop and a railroad worker and my brothers are vice principal and a nurse like like literally the four jobs like you could choose and we're like oh i'm a podcast meets actor meets right and my wife is a work from home custom florist. It's like what the fuck are you doing. It's like they live in los angeles. Oh yeah california cal they say it like. It's the case lurk my brothers. My one brother says it like it's Eden and else in my family refers to it like it's sing-sing they're always like well. I don't know you're all the way out there in california but my one brother is the age where it's still cool. So he's like dude kelly life like and it's so cute to see that but i'm the furthest person from my my blood lined like on the furthest away from like my brother. Just he's thirty. One just moved out to my mom's house got an apartment in the same town and my other brother who owns a home has two. Kids is a vice principal in the school district. We went to elementary school. And that house is in the same zip code. As my mom's it's like as one point three miles away from my mom's house. My brother a twenty nine just moved out of their house like but he he. His job moved. He worked at like the dock. I'd guess enduring logistics at a dock. Which i don't like the fifth fucking out legacy can't even explain what the job is just seems like he tells like the strong guys do stuff i it so now. He moved allentown pennsylvania and now he just goes back to new jersey to sleep better by parents house every did to party with his boys hardy boys and that's it like they just like he's still just like gets at it like every week. Did i never put that together kind connecting. What you just said and what we're talking about here because we were saying like the no one even thinks that you can leave long. It's not even on your calls minds. It's like every like i. I have a distinct memory of playing. nc double a. football but video game not the actual. I played rugby and college clubs sport of course and like junior year senior year. I'm playing ncwa football. And it's like oh i should start a franchise that'd be fun. Oh let me pick a random college to do. And then i saw university of hawaii was one of the choices and i had made it to my senior year of high school Of my of marriage a senior college marist college in poughkeepsie. New york in the random valley two hours away from my mom's house. I learned that. I could have gone to college in hawaii. We we talk about that all the time when we go like malibu. Dr pepper died. That's that's exactly the i say. It's a tiffany anytime we drive. 'cause we always go that way for santa barbara and anytime i drive pepper. I go if i had been told that this was an option for college. I would have tried. I would've tried harder in high school. I would've school. I would have done so well. Because i also behavioral issues via entire time like i like. I'm i'm just dealing with this for the first time now started there really lead rider years. I've been on bagging. The fuck is wrong with me like what happened to me. And why like school. Like i fucking hated so much but if somebody told me i could live on the beach and go to like just like the nicest school like the prettiest area and like steven spielberg is like steps away. From my college. I would have been there. You no heartbeat and so mark and it costs slightly more than rutgers and then in hindsight you realize my mom's like pick one of these colleges that's less than a three hour drive away it's like okay. I see you don't want to send me off on a point. I also maybe didn't wanna do that when i was eighteen but when i was a kid if someone just like explained to me like you know you talk about movies that people work in movies. And you don't have to be tom hanks to work in movies. You can hold a fucking stick. You could stand and watch equipment overnight and you could technically work in the movies. My dad was an eye oxy stagehand and like no one even articulated that to me like i found this out later in life when i moved to new york to do comedy and stuff like my mom was like you know you could just ask you like circle edward who is like a teamster if you want to get it into that. I'm like that was never mentioned to me at all. Like i didn't know. I could be working on sets like i didn't know like he'd new eddie murphy. Like you're telling me any of this until now. When i'm a fucking dog walker now fucking temp learning how to wear a suit for the first time to make seventy five dollars for the day just so i could fucking survive in the city so i could spend that seventy five dollars zach woods. Watch me do a harold poorly. might i add. Oh yesterday i went and saw mullany. And i was talking with my friend. Who was there with. And i was like that that first time when i went to new york the first thing i did like when i was still living at home with my parents is i to be class and in my level one was mullany and i remember. He did like this. Like when betsy stover was teaching us about monologues and stuff he did a monologue that was so funny and the confidence of me from new jersey to go up to this guy. I don't know who just made me laugh. And i was like you should stand up and that the empty weeks later i was humiliated and it was like it was the most grounding experience of my entire life. That's really funny. I shout out my level one celebrity vanessa. Vanessa buyer was in my level one class in two thousand and three. She had already taken all the courses in chicago but wanted to get in with new york. And i didn't even know about this still years later. Someone else looked up. Because i i had a teacher. That was not part of the theater. So shannon o'neill looked up. My first class was like vanessa. Because she vanessa bayer buyer. I'm probably it's bayer. I think whatever sure my friend. Vp back he was talking to shannon shannon. Was like oh you took level one. How long ago. She's like a long time ago and this was in twenty when she's on. Snl she's talking shannon about two thousand and three and shannon's like do you remember anyone from your class and she goes. There's this one kid who's like he was loud and he was very ten and he always had on a bathing. We had on board shorts and i. I think that's john gabor's let me look it up. And she like went back into class. Gave us. And i'm like i was working at jones beach during the day. Getting on the long island rail road straight from the beach with just like rinsed off in my flipflops board shorts going in and then doing three hours of improv class at night and in my in hindsight like if i would later teach level one for a long time if i had one kid in my class it was showing up to new york city. You're in flip flops. On the subway and shit dude like i would have talk to that kid and i couldn't believe what i must have. Looked like as this. Cocky s twenty one year old. So tan frosted tips. Just come in and be like. I love improv comedy. Aris will you exactly like you are now to level one life. Yeah i was. I been like this is not a good or bad signed but i've been like this for entirely too long like i'm like i was exactly this level of confident and disgusting and self deprecating. When i first started. I i actually can now. Maybe back it up slightly more like that's it. I'm actually have done enough. Good shows like hank. But at the time i still had this level of confidence without any shows under the belt i because i always think like my my roommate nick when he took to be level. One mccurdy curtis wayne during the graduation. Show curtis good palm aside. He's like you gotta let other students do stuff because he was just going in and just dominated he's allowed guy for my my level. One teacher george. Becker he he had hearing aids. That's the only thing i remember about him. He was a little older and he on the last day. He's like tradition after the show. He's like tradition. First of all in my level one class show a woman slapped me in the face a forty year old woman. I was like twenty one years old. She full-on slapped me in the face in character and i was just like rolled with it. Like how or whatever but he came to mcmanus us again drinks after mcmanus of course came with mcmanus. Gave me a hug and just leaned in and set in my ear. Fuck off gabriel's. And where to god. And i still don't know i told that story to besser to walls because they all knew that guy i would later to. Was it a bit. Did he and i go. I'll give him to outs one. I'll give them two things. One is an out one. He was like this guy is like obnoxious and funny. This won't bother him. he'll think it's funny or two. I fucking hate this kid. I can't wait to just tell them off on the last day. That is incredible. I you know it's to be a bit. I yeah i. I hope it wasn't but that's just the kind of attitude that i brought out of teachers like this part of the greco. My high school chemistry teacher who told my parents if he was my son. I'd love him but as my student. I can't stand him and i was Know i had that i had. I had my favorite teacher of all time who likes still like fouls me. On twitter greg solve my tweets and stuff. She was very supportive of me. How much drama. Teacher english teacher. But one day She called me a retard. Yeah which was like screaming at me. 'cause like we made like a video for class and i it was like kind of you know just like it was right around the jackass time and like we were all just like hurting each other piece. A sheet rock and shit like that jackass should have been banned from my houses television as a kid is still my favorite thing in the world at forty. After years of working in comedy still nothing makes me laugh as hard as jackass. It's the fucking best. Szeswith it when it came out. I was like this. Is my sense of humor in college. I had a shirtless. Johnny knoxville poster. Up everyone ask questions about the one. Where the little crocodile fighting nipple. I am back came out when i was in high school and we were like all right boys. We know what we're doing getting the trash can with throwing you down a hill on camera. Do the craziest thing it was. It was everything to me. I was obsessed with hope refrigerator. Obsessed with it. We would like print through people because of it like cky yet. We were doing shopping cart. Shit we were like literally shoot against each other like paintball gun point blank Just big fucking assholes and like it rules but then also you don't bring that shift to school and we totally exactly where like all right. Let's do rub pepper and janis is. It's like we would just do stunts. We do what we thought was really funny but in hindsight just like dangerous like we were prank ourselves. More or less like stunt on ourselves. Watch i'm gonna do a somersault to the table my back. I think the table would break if i did it and just take turns launching ourselves onto the cafeteria table hoping to do something crazy like that. He could make a scene. Guess you're you're making a scene everyone's paying attention to you and that's really what it all boils down to is like people were all attached to you and heard likes shit that you did like it was so exciting. I'd really one of the most legendary things happen in my school as my friend. Who's now a teacher. so i'll leave his name out of it. Got thrown out of high school for being drunk. You like showed up drunk and they were like you can't be here. they'll home. Your drug went home. Got a super soaker gun. Filled with beer came back starts rain teachers. Anyone who tried to stop them like told you to leave and you would just be like shooting the principal with beer out of a fucking water gun wasted. It was like the funniest thing to us that rules. Yeah i mean like there's like. I remember one time telling everyone that we did this like and that was like i almost got my asked at graduation. But there's this kid. Tom dutcher who was like just big football player. He hooked up with this girl. I liked about it so like i remember we went. We went to like Keep fishery we bought a bunch of fish and like we broke into his car and put it everywhere because they did that. A dirty work. Now you're like just going to be hilarious. It's like the next day. Act my graduation rehearsal. All i hear is he's like if i find out who liked put fucking fish. Michael that disrespect not proficient people's car. And i told someone and he found out and like he's like tried to fight me at graduation. How do we used to move car. We used to move our friend doggies car all the time. 'cause he had like the smallest car we would like while he was in class like twelve of us would pick up his car and place it in a way that you couldn't pull out of the spike we'd put it like. It was light enough that like we could carry it wherever we wanted to and then we did it to him so frequently and he was a little bit of a nutjob. One time. i wasn't part of this move but other people were and they started getting bolder and doing it during fifth period. Where augie had a class where he could see into the parking lot. We found out that he could see the so. We were like we gotta do it. Fifth period. I couldn't do it fifth period. These guys did period. They go to pick up his car. All starts screaming in pain. Augie had taped kids home alone style. Taped thumb tacks and fucking razor. It's all over the underneath of his car and like bloody hands out like what the fuck man and then they were talking about him. Like this guy is a psychopath. And it's like we move this car every day for four weeks whereas if not worse defending himself he's protecting itself. Funky roles man. Sean thank you so much for coming on high in my hand making me feel better about the no problem. This is the best. I feel like you and i. We should host a monthly variety. Show where the two of us inbetween just take turns telling a story. The other person hype. Manning threw it agreeing. That's normal. this is talk. Yeah yeah i like. I will say like right now in my own there. I'm always like kind of touching on. How much of a piece of shit. I was nice school. Therapist keeps wanting me to go deeper. And i'm like nah he the bad guy. Let's talk about how awful my parents were. I don't think. I was deserving of it yet to appoint with your therapist therapist. Well this makes sense early. Because it's always me and my college buddies came in the room while she was blow me and was like laughing at stuff that's like. Let's let's hope that's never ever yet. Because i feel longest time to pull this really like you know. It's a problematic story on stage then like now. Can you remove that for my comedy album. I used to tell this story that this girl was like so awful to me and she was such a bitch to me that i at the and this is a true story. I went up to her. And i you are going to get raped this evening at just the piss off and i turned to walk away and slipped on ice knocked myself unconscious instantly and i thought it was such a funny story and then like i told you that nights and afterwards everyone was. I told a girl like you tell yourself like. Isn't that funny part of the story. Just change that fact next time you're a hundred percent right. Why am i telling people this. Yeah we that that happened to me. I have like a story that i tell on stage that like basically i got to a place where works every time but it didn't work the first few times because i did it. Omit the fact that the guy the kid in my high school was autistic. Know this makes him the weirdo in this story you did. What do the candidates we. There was a like an a a teacher's aide one of those ladies who kind of just like worked the hallway but usually a student's mom that the students mom that student shit his pants like his junior year and we made fun of he graduated and we still made fun of his mom about his son about her son's shitting spans like gary wiped up and clean. And it's like -aduated so long ago about him drop. Can't i'm still a problem. That was a hick down.
