"This is the John Batchelor show. Bob Zimmerman keeps the website behind the black and from the surface of the planet earth. We go to the surface of Bryant MAs because Bob, you will recall is an adventure enjoys caves, he enjoys rappelling down cliffs that make me dizzy, and is found yet again another detail on the surface of Mars that may provide the nascent colonies that will be built in Mars over the next centuries. Bob, a very good evening to I love it. When you find caves on the moon and caves on Mars having been more application? Why is that true, Bob? Why why would starting a colony inside something that is sub Martian bid vantage? Good evening. Good evening, John. Well, obviously, the first thing, of course, is that it inside a cave under its roof, your automatically protected from the solar from cosmic and solar radiation. And that's a very good thing. They don't have it on Mars or on the moon. Hey. Magnetic field or an atmosphere to protect you. So that's the first thing you don't have to build a a a roof to protect through. That's the first thing. Secondly, caves routinely everywhere in the solar system that we've seen and it makes sense we have full expectation will always find this is that the temperature and environment at cave will be constant year round and on earth that constant temperature and environment is based upon the latitude and climate of where the cave is located at. So let's say it's in the tropics. It's gonna be you know, let's say it's mid latitude US it's going to be about fifty degrees year round well on a planet. That means you a temperature control systems have a much easier job 'cause they don't have to deal with wide swings in temperature will deal with wild. We'll talk about wide swings temperatures when we get to the moon in this segment, but here in a cave. You don't have that problem. And so it's ready may place. It's much easier to build. Facility. You just have to seal it, you you can do a much easier structure inside to protect yourself. And so that's why I came important. They're also getting down into the into the ground where as I reported earlier this week, there might be ground water or you'd be close to ground. What are we can dig a well? And that's probably the post you're bringing up here. John I have a post on behind the black called the many pits slash caves of Mawes. And you know, what I do is I go through the monthly release of all kinds of images from ause recognizance. They released about five hundred a month are the high resolution images. To see if I can find interesting things and routinely last few months, I'm finding images of caves pitch the Neva taken by various scientists one of whom I've been in correspondence with Glenn Cushing. He wrote actually a paper on this subject about four years ago that I wrote an article on this guy Intel tell on the caves of Mars, and so he, you know, and he's actually sent me some suggestions these caves, they're looking at these. Because once the exact reasons we've just talked about, and so I put up a pulse because I found a whole bunch this last month, and I just couldn't do it. Well, each one on a separate posted. Let's put them all together. And what's interesting about these is that they're not located all in the same area. Most of the caves, I've been focusing on over the last few years of the ones near the giant volcanos specifically, arsia Mons. That's the southern most of the line of three and the reason arsia Mons is of interest is because it's it's known to have glaciers. In the past or even in the present on its western slopes. It has water clouds that form seasonally routinely. And so it's thought that there's a very good likelihood that this trapped war ice below the ground that. And there's also caves, and that's what I keep finding. And so I posted a few images of those. But what I also posted images that are not on the volcanic room this time. I these oppo image. I posted a few pit hits and links to pitch images of pits that are located in the vast low lowland northern plains where an intimate notion wants might have existed. Those are interesting John because they might not be flown from lava, but some of them have similar features to lava tubes. They you can see him in line with the depression running along that line. So that means skylights to a underground tunnel. But the image that I let off with on this particular pulse is one of those out in the northern plains. The has a dog. Doc streak coming down its slope beginning not from the top. But from within the cliff edge, which is one of those recurrent Linnea streaks that they think might be seepage of water coming from underneath. And so that's interesting because that means it might be an accessible way to get to water within the case itself. So these are the pictures for a lot of cool. I don't post all the pictures here. They're scattered throughout the planet. And that's the future. We're going to be cave-dwellers again when we get to Mars. I have no doubt that is called on his chest cold across the midwest. In fact, I think that right now they're investigating whether a town in Illinois at minus thirty eight is the all-time Illinois record, however on the moon, thirty eight would be warming trend that would be unacceptable because of a warming John this morning on the morning. Yeah. Global global move on the far side as possible for anybody who believes in global warming to declare what is cold that. It's a product of Kabul war global warming. So we can do the same on the moon. The moon turns out to be on the far side colder there was estimated by the Apollo mission. How cold Bob? Well, this is actually I have some information sources say that a lot of this announcement the Chinese is a little bit of Blondie a little bit overstated. But nonetheless, what has happened is that the sun has risen on the faucet of the moon and Janki four and the Rover you to you to have a woken automatically. They're set to go into dominant mode during the little fourteen day lunar night. And when the sun comes up over the rice, and they're set to automatically wake up, and they have done that and their instruments have begun to work. They haven't the Rover self is not started to rove yet. But there's some data has been sent back to the ground in one piece of data Chinese made a big deal about today was that according to measurements on shaky for the temperature of the shallow layer of the lunar soil on the fos- side of the moon is lower than that obtained by the US Apollo missions on the near side of the mall. They're not a little clear on the face say that the temperature was minus one hundred ninety degrees celsius which is minus three hundred ten degrees. That's impassable. Out halfway zero. I've had I've been in conversation with the number of people and the impression I get is that this might not be such a big deal as Chinese and making it you to is at a higher latitude, which means it's gonna be colder. Anyway, we do not know where it's instrument is placed and what exactly it's measuring in comparison to the Apollo mission. So it's hard to make a comparison here. They're not telling us at least if it's colder there. That's cool. That's very fun. It's really cool stuff. And it's it's good to to to get that data. We'll have to wait and see how much times when when Chang you to starts roaming down the surface of what it gets his row is India's space agency. And it's space educated Baba's approved out for some time. They're now committing themselves to a man program. This is exciting. Bob. Yep. Yep. They have now opened their version of the Johnson stays Flight Center. It's they human spaceflights. The Johnson Space place was originally called the manned space Flight Center. Focus was manned spaceflight. And they've now opens with the call the human spaceflight center. This is in India. They had the ribbon cutting this week, and they big deal. You know, the head case Sivan the head of the the ice row. Their space agency was that cut the ribbon with with a former head of ice row. They also had their and this is where they're going to develop the gang Gagnon manned program. They ain't gonna fly at least one man mission by December twenty twenty one. That's what they say. It's going to have at least three astronauts onboard. And so that's the goal. And this is where the this whole program is going to be organized and built one one detail of this opening that I found cool is that they had there. The guy are hot who was. Formerly head of their polar satellite launch vehicle program. That's the smaller rocket. Well, you've been promoted to head the gang yon program. And I think this is gonna be a very good thing. John. Stay tuned. Exciting things happen from India now recovering exciting India to lessen exciting climate science Bob climate science. These days is a is a partisan battlefield, and you have maintained over the years, very carefully that the watchword of science is uncertainty you test and test and test and wait several centuries intestine destined desk. Climate science has come to the conclusion before it did the test. Yes. I I haven't SEM behind the black. I call the absolute uncertainty of climate science, and what I wanted to do in. This essay, you suggest epic cold spell right now setting new records, and you've got politicians ranting about how we're gonna die in twelve years. And how this cold weather is proof of gold global warming, which is beyond absurd. But none of this cold the cold weather, at least makes us aware of the climate. And though the clock cold weather specifically now is not a sign of what's going on with climate over long terms indicates the complete uncertainty of that science field. We really wanted to highlight this we don't really know what's going to happen in any kind of direction for one thing. We don't really have good climate data. We have no good climate data for the southern hemisphere prior to the launch of Nimbus seven back in nineteen seventy. Eight. None zero we have proxy data, which gives us an impression of what might have happened such as a warm period and around here sows in and a cold period around sixteen hundred but we have no actual data for the southern hemisphere. Almost not that's the only places we have good data in the United States, Europe and Japan for the last two centuries, and guess what the climate scientists have tampered with that data. They've adjusted they've twisted around to fit theories that they could have done it complete naievety. They could have done it comprised confirmation bias what could have done it with complete fraud. But either way they've done it. And so that that's not reliable as well. And so we're looking at a situation we just simply do not know on top of that climate. Scientists have may have fear mongering for decades in the seventies that we're gonna have a an ice age. Well, that's not that didn't happen. So as soon as it looked like it was going to be warming. Instead they switched and they fear mongering. It's going to be global warning. Well, it just simply do not know yet. We don't have the data. We should. Be aware of that. Kimmy of the uncertainty of science climate science. And if anyone tells you settled, the either a fool ignorant outright liar, and you should really stay away from them. Unless of course, anyway, Bob Zimmerman he keeps the website behind the black. We're off to China. I'm John Batchelor. This is John about social..

This giant massive mountain is sixty four thousand feet, high dormant shield volcano, named of course, after the Roman forest known as arsia last time it was theoretically. Active was one hundred and fifty million years ago. So we know it's not from ash. But what is it many? Astronomers now conclude that this is something called oral graphic clouds complicated in sound, but it's simply this water vapor and ice moving over the top of the volcano at high speed on the downward side, creating this amazing cloud formation, and George I want to let the audience know for years, I've been observing Mars. "Five with mortality rates among women rising more slowly even declining. Researchers told this to a medical conference reasons for this discrepancy between the sexes are unclear but evidence suggests men are less likely to protect themselves from the sun or he'd public health warnings. Interesting at first it seemed like it was just a bad cold with a fever that came and went then one day when Scarlett Camborne woke from her nap the toddler was unable to move her. Right arm panicked. Parents Andrea and Chris Camborne rushed the little girl to the urgent care center and the king of Prussia operated by children's hospital of Philadelphia and from there on the hospital's emergency room in west Philadelphia x-ray showed that scarlet a few days shy of her second birthday back in two thousand sixteen had no broken bones. But an MRI on a future visit revealed in alarming sign damage somehow to her smile cord, the inflammation and Scarlett spinal cord eventually was attributed to a virus called the editorial virus d sixty eight that had infected many of the other children. This is something that's going on all around the country. Let's check in with Dr Gary Ridenour about this scary. This is serious stuff. But what is it? Well, it's it's out series of confusing things. I'm going back to fifty four where I was a polio pioneer and got the salt vaccine in fifty five Dr Eddie found faulty batches of the vaccine from cutter labs, it was called a cutter incident and resulted in two hundred children being paralyzed then in nineteen sixty Dr Eddie found a cancer causing monkey virus in up at Salk vaccine, and they can't very quietly cancelled it and moved onto Sabin that was the Soviet virus. Wasn't it? That was a simian monkey virus? Wasn't it? Yes. And it was in her since for six seven years now we have acute flaccid mile lightest. And I'll enough it was first reported fifty eight. Decency has been suggested, but not found in all the cases my has found that from two fourteen until now we've got about five hundred children have gotten have come down with this. But the problem is India has five hundred thousand children, and they know it's from overdosing their children with too much oral polio vaccines now all scenarios are still up in the air, except the CDC has a sacred cow, which is the polio. Vaccine so poli on vaccine are banned words at this for this illness, and it is causing problems it may be a viral mutation. But the problem is that we've got to get on the same page not play what a child's future and move on. And find out what's going on with this thing. All right. Stay on. This for scary. His horrible situation. My God as a parent. I would be panicking. Well, the lion air jet that crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from Indonesia's capital city one week ago killing one hundred and eighty nine people on board at an airspeed indicator problem on its four previous flights according to investigators. Unbelievable. I let me tell you something. There is nothing like US mechanics working on cars and airplanes. They are the best. These foreign people were working on some of these planes shoddy workmanship in the follow up four times four times. This thing could have been avoided a series of large earthquakes has rattled California over the past twenty four hours, and scientists are telling us that the shaking was the result of movement along the San Andreas fault system, our expert on earthquakes calorie author of the man who predicts earthquakes about the late Jim Burke with us Cal, what do you think's going on here? Well, I talked to October fifth last last month and I did predict west coasters place. You did northern California southern California bay area before the end of the year. So the other morning when I saw the four point one kind of shook me up a little bit. I didn't feel it. But I wanna take back something I shut the last month. I said, oh, this is good. We're having quake senate's relieving releasing pressure and stress. Well, it's it's really not this their. Is it a build up to something else? Cal. It could be the third not enough small earthquakes to relieve enough stress to prevent banned for large events like with this could end up being, you know, if it's a six point our larger this the small quakes don't mean anything leading up to something personally is an intuitive. I'm not feeling it. I don't feel we're going to wake up tomorrow morning with a six point or seven point out. I just don't feel like I have with others, but we still have two more months to go. So it could be leading up to something. Also with the Pacific ring of fire. A lot of people, including me believe that it could all be sort of connected jazz website, part of our Twitter feed it coast to coast dot com. It another sign of the times for retail lows is closing fifty one North American stores. Lows said that these. Locations are under performing and the decision will help the hardware chain focus on its most profitable stores. Nasa may have ruled that the first interstellar object ever spotted in our system is a metallic or rocky object approximately thirteen hundred twelve feet in length one hundred and thirty one feet wide. But a new study from the Harvard Smithsonian center for astrophysics says it could be something much more exciting. It could be a light sale of artificial origin sent from another civilization. We've got this story in our highlight reel at coast to coast AM dot com. The study which was posted online earlier this month suggests that it's strange excess acceleration could be artificial in nature as it has been implied that it is not in active comet, it's an amazing story. What else is going on in the skies? Let's check in with Stephen Cates. Doctor sky high Steven what do you have for George? Hey, we begin of course, with a story that's been widely reported, and I have some more updates on it. It's the strange Martian volcano known as arsia Mons and the strange cloud formation around it, many people have heard at least by now that the European Space Agency's Mars express spacecraft started to see this amazing nine hundred mile long cloud, which many thought was emanating from the volcano itself back in September just to put it into perspective, George this mountain. This giant massive mountain is sixty four thousand feet, high a dormant shield volcano named of course, after the Roman forest known as arsia last time, it was theoretically active was one hundred and fifty million years ago. So we know it's not from ash. But what is it many? Astronomers now conclude that this is something called oral graphic clouds complicated in sound, but it's simply this water vapor and ice moving over the top of the volcano at high speed on the downward side, creating this amazing cloud formation, and George I want to let the audience know for years I've been. Serving mars. This is not something unusual the largest volcano on Mars is Mount Olympus, Nixon ethica strangely. The size of the state of Arizona sixty nine thousand feet high. I've watch these morning clouds before so put the rumors to rest, it's something not from the volcano in the live sky. Here's something fascinating Mars, the topic. We're talking about George high on the south. You can see with the naked eye. Easy. Telescopes reveal details seventy seven million miles away at George. How about this? Another of the first two good meteor showers of November folks start looking now into the east just after sunset maybe around nine PM to the east you baguette to see some bright slow moving toward fireballs. These are fascinating you need a little patience. And then it fills up to the big meteor shower on the seventeenth Leonid and the new moon, George where people can see the best obviously without moonlight occurs on the southern sky reminds you always always remember to keep your eyes to the sky is Email the doctor sky.
