Raymond Arroyo: Like Its Origin, We're Fighting for Christianity

"You speak about faith a lot very eloquently I might add on Fox and elsewhere When people Friends of yours and other people in our space get in this conversation with you and they say things like I get this question all the time and say things to you like Raymond it's over man I mean I feel like God's abandoned us We've got them castrating kids You've got the drag queen story hour going on You got crime running rampant in cities You've got these Twitter videos of young kids beating up old women in elevators I mean it feels like we've been abandoned I know what I say to them but what do you say Well Dan look this is the markings of the faith of Christ from the very beginning It's origin was like this It was fought over People played and died And the same excesses we're seeing all around us the deformity of humanity that degradation and debasement of humanity All of that was in that first century Roman world That is what it looked like You had the same debauchery This is the world that Christ walked into And let me tell you before he died and after he rose it was contested and you had a small number of people who believed a little remnant and from that from that little mustard seed of faith and those people willing to continue to live that faith not just talk about it Live it risk for it That is where the faith that continued and spread over the world came from So you have to give holy week is a great reminder to us that you may not have the largest numbers now The important thing is to really walk the walk and to be the billboard for the faith to be the face of God in the hands of God for people Not just give lip service to it You know I knew Mother Teresa I watched or I interviewed her a bunch of times I saw her in person She didn't lecture people She showed you what Christ looked like in action That's what we need to do Not only now always

Raymond Arroyo: Christianity Boasts a Historical Precedent

"I like to evangelize the cause but everybody has to make their own decision What I find so compelling about the story of Jesus is the fact that people die for their religion all the time There's nothing new whatever religion you're in You've seen people who martyred themselves for it However the difference with Christianity is the apostles who died for Jesus actually knew Jesus And if you're going to be crucified upside down or beheaded and tortured and poisoned you know at some point you're probably going to be like okay I was just kidding He really didn't rise from the dad like joke's over And none of them did that which has to tell you something No none of them did that And we have look it's the only religion that can boast and historical precedent You can point to the places where all of this happened I mean when you go to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre Dan And forget the little which is the tomb where Christ is buried in Jerusalem Now there's a little edifice there They built a kind of little chapel in the middle of this huge old church But if you go in there and open the icon on the far wall there's a three feet high blackened stubble of a wall Little piece of it behind the chapel they built That is what remains because the Muslims came in a thousand years ago and bulldozed They just burned it to the ground The original sepulchre itself So the fact that you still have these markers and you can see how it was contested and fought over through time That should be a great a support for us and bolster us in our faith and be it should remind us how our predecessors placed such weight on the importance of belief and faith in a God who existed Because once you let that go all civilization slips with it and the totalitarians that come and burn and destroy will take over That should be it's a sobering reminder to us I think this only week

Raymond Arroyo: The Government Acts Like God

"But before the break I was thinking you'd be a good guy to comment on this I was talking about communism and not in a granular manner but the essence of the socialist the modern socialist is they have to divorce people from God in the family Because it's a sorce rayman as you know God and faith of objective values In other words they're not changeable They're not open to your interpretation You will love your fellow man Well I think you don't get to think otherwise Those are the rules You don't like them You can go to hell I mean literally I don't mean it as an insult That's the thing I think in this new subjective society we live in where boys can be girls girls can be poised I think that's what drives the modern progressive and the old school communist crazy Like I don't have to listen to your God rules I'll just make my own rules I mean we're gone We're communists It's the government wanting to supplant God and family The government is the God I mean when you look at Newsom governor Newsom God bless and then we should pray for him But mostly he quickly leaves because when you have a law in place that allows a child who wants gender affirming surgery to become awarded the state so that they can impose that on the child regardless of parents or any mentorship or people who care or love that child that there's something profoundly wrong there where the government is the God And it runs right to what you're saying And look you saw that Wall Street Journal poll that came out a few weeks ago where faith has dropped 40 points in this poll People just don't care about God anymore But that tells you more about themselves They've learned to hate themselves which is why birth rates are down Marriages are down patriotism is down It's the natural consequence of abandoning a God who loves you and has your best interest at heart Once you give that up everything falls to pieces And that's where we are as a country and a people I fear

Raymond Arroyo: The Lesson Learned by the Wise Men

"Raymond just curious have you ever been to Petra It's the most one of the most amazing oh my gosh isn't it incredible It is incredible And again to see it to realize that that's where they came from And you know king arita the king at the time of Jesus birth he's mentioned in the New Testament He's chasing down St. Paul later in the New Testament So this king arita appears in my book the wise man go to him because they would have been serving their king okay They're consultants to the king That's who Magi were So they have to get permission from him to go And he thinks he believes that Herod has a new son because they tell him there's a new king of the Jews There's a new king of Judea He thinks well Herod must know it must be a son or a grandson Go bring him some tribute So these guys go on this royal diplomatic mission with a secret religious one Beneath the surface But look Dan the lesson for us is the wise men kept their gaze high They were looking above the concerns of the earth waiting for God to give them a message in a sign That's where our eyes should be at Christmas time And most importantly and I love this and you will too I think in the middle of my book there's a spread of the wise men on Arabian horses Those were introduced into the kingdom of nabataea modern day Petra a hundred years before Christ So I think the wise men very likely would have been on horseback It's only a three day journey around the Dead Sea to Jerusalem They went out when they saw the truth The glimmer of it They chased it They ran after it That's what we all have to do Not only at Christmas but throughout the year And that's what I hope families and everybody who encounters the book will absorb as they move into the Christmas season

Raymond Arroyo: The Purpose of the Three Gifts to Jesus

"Anyway they take these gifts they go to the child Why those three gift stands And I kept asking myself this I consulted with some historians or even doing a Fox nation special on this which drops on Tuesday where I interview all these experts And you can really do the deep dive And look my picture book introduces you to the world and I think heightens the adventure that we really happen But this special will take you on a deeper dive if you're interested Theologically historically but here's the payoff that I love Frankincense was burned in that first temple in worship Gold of course was woven into the vestments of the first temple priesthood okay This royal priesthood The order of malke deck some might remember you half looks here that every Sunday at mass The order of Maltese attack This is what it is But most important is mer oil Dan Mer oil was kept in the holy of holies in the first temple and it was only used to anoint new members of the royal priesthood So these guys might have been going out to anoint the messiah and bring him into their royal priesthood to restore the first temple It suddenly blows up the importance and the theological heft of the wise men and their journey and what they were really doing The revolution they were really kicking off

Raymond Arroyo: Evidence That the Wise Men Are Real

"Who are these guys Well they aren't kings coming from far kingdoms They would never have been able to pass through the Roman territories to get to Herod and to the baby So that's off the table Here's what my research revealed And this will blow your mind And I think the minds of all of us listening because I like you thought eh it's kind of a little flourish These are dramatic characters that kings come They do their gift drop off and they leave No they're either Persian priests in exile down in the kingdom of nabataea And look you've historians from the first century Justin martyr Clement of Rome tell us the wise men are from Arabia Well Arabia the headquarters of Arabia was this kingdom of Petra If they're not Persian priests more likely they were descendants of the first temple priesthood Now follow me on this I'll make it brief The first temple priest offered sacrifice in the temple in Jerusalem They were expelled 700 years before Jesus Where did they go To Arabia in exile So this may very well be members of this royal priest who had waiting for the messiah They see the star that confirms the prophecies of a messiah His scepter shall rise from Israel and they run off to see them But it's not just to do a gift drop by Those three gifts which by the way were only made in the kingdom of nabataea Frankincense gold mer frankincense and myrrh are derived from tree SAP which I had no idea I didn't know what they were made of But it's tree SAP trees only grown in southern Arabia And of course gold the gold mines midian king Solomon's mind same place archeologists will show you where it is It's in the kingdom of nabataea in the ancient world

Raymond Arroyo: Previewing 'The Wise Men Who Found Christmas'

"You have a new book out versus the wise men who found Christmas We need a little more of this We need a little Christmas spirit We get in the spirit a little late on this show So tell me about the book Because you're like the wise men Dan you're watching your surveying the horizon and trying to put this here So I get it But look I wanted to tell a story You know I write for families when I'm not doing my day job I call these family reads because I think it's important for us You and I cover the fallout of the culture and politics in the world But what ails us Dan I think more often than not can be secured in the family home In the living room around the kitchen table And that comes from spending time Parents and grandparents with their children and grandchildren that exchange of not only love and time but stories and values is really what I'm trying to create with each of these works So I thought at Christmas time I need to do something on figures We know I was going to tell a legend about the wise man But as I started investigating it Dan everything we think we know about the wise men is a legend There were not three of them They were not from the far east They were not kings You know the old song we three kings of orient are They aren't So as I dug into this I said okay well where did they come from Well they came from the immediate east from modern day Petra the kingdom of nabataea which was a kingdom that was intention with Herod's kingdom So as I dug into this I found an adventure story I think with great lessons for all of us And I wanted families to be able to dive into the real history of this ancient era that I think still speaks to us today And particularly at Christmas time

"Olivia's story is centered on an especially gruesome video challenge that's been making the rounds on TikTok. The blackout challenge. What it is is children. Choking themselves until they lose consciousness, blacking out and then waking up and getting there to adrenaline rush or that high of regaining consciousness. They're filming this in uploading it to social media as if it's a fun cool thing to do. The challenge requests that you use a household object to try and choke yourself. So in some cases, I've seen children using belts using neck ties using dog leashes using shoelaces to choke themselves until they pass out. If this sounds familiar, it might be because choking games like the blackout challenge didn't start on TikTok. Well, the blackout challenge actually dates back to as far as the 1930s. It was around before we even hit an iPhone, but social media has amplified its spread. Not only is it easier to reach a huge range of kids, it's reaching children who are younger and younger, kids who are too young to understand the risks. One of those children was a little girl named ariani Arroyo. Ariani Arroyo was a 9 year old girl who lived down in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ari was fresh. Ari was glitter and glam, and she just had her own little style. And everything. That's Ariana's mother. Olivia spoke to both of her parents. My name is crystal aro Roman. My name is Eddie belto, Arroyo Roman. And my daughter is ariani jailing Arroyo. She loved dancing. And dancing was the first trend that she really started engaging in TikTok. She would do all the dances. She record herself and it just grew from there. When COVID-19 shut down her skull and she was at home all the time, she became obsessed with TikTok. She was using it every day. She was trying all of these challenges with her younger brother doing things like holding water in your mouth until you start giggling or one challenge they tried was only eating red food for 24 hours. They loved it. They thought it was really fun. Every single day. The TikTok is like something that lures you in, makes a kid believe that they're gonna be famous one evening in early 2021. Ariani was playing with her little brother before bedtime. It was a Wednesday. It was a normal day. Her father was downstairs in the basement and his workshop. From what we understand, she used a dog leash. This was a middle dog leash, her parents had recently purchased it because the kids really wanted to get a puppy. And they bought the dog leash to show their children that they were willing to buy them a dog. And they were playing with the store glacier, ariani. She wrapped the middle dog lay around her neck, and she hooked the buckle onto the hinge of a wardrobe door, and she slipped off the Twitch east that she was standing on. And she was left hanging about two feet from the ground. She couldn't scream out. She couldn't cry out her father was out of earshot anyway and her little brother had to run downstairs and tell her dad that sissy's tangled. Her father came upstairs to see what he was talking about and that's when he found ariani lifeless hanging by this dog leash from the hinge of the wardrobe door. He tried CPR. She never regained consciousness in she died a week later. As you can imagine, Ariana's parents are heartbroken. They told me that their happiness had died with their daughter. But this feeling just weighs heavy on your chest that it's hard to move on and how to continue living when you lose a child in that way. One of the things her mother said to me is that she knew that she had to be protective of the outside, but what she didn't realize is that she had to be protective of the inside that this danger actually came through her child's phone. A social media app. I never thought in my mind that that could ever result to me losing my daughter. We as parents, we've done everything to protect our children. And you think they're in the safety of your home. We're home. Make sure we're home. Everybody was home. A week after ariani died, her parents asked her younger brother, what they were doing. The night of the accident. He said they were playing a game like they had seen on TikTok. My son told us we played hang the chain. I'm like, what's in the chain? He was only four years old, so we didn't know the name of the game, and it wasn't until after her funeral that they were asking her friends, you know, who were her age who know what she was doing around that time. And then her friends told me, oh, that's black old chilling, then I'm like, what's blackout challenge? I

I mean you see that and and i i'm watching you right now and you're young guy you're in shape you know your your go-getter and i'd like to see that in people that are running for office. I'd like to see people that are getting out there for the right reasons and not getting out there just kind of blowing smoke just to get the spot and say ooh this around that. I'd like to see people that are real people. People that are true. You know people that are true to their word people that are true about what they say and they're not just blowing smoke because i'm sure that all of you all out there in radio land want somebody that is going to truly listen to you and truly be a part of your lives in your community and take care of things before they get out of hand now. I'm sure you know nobody's a miracle worker. I know that you know certain things. You just can't fix outside of the courtroom. But at the same time i mean. Is this something that you really going to strive to do or you just kind of like you know making smoke signals. No sorry this is something that i am full strident. I do not go into anything. One hundred percent ninety percent. I put everything my heart. My soul my mind into anything and everything i do including this campaign and when i win this primary and the election sir well. "I will definitely be more stern. On those cases yasser so it's still falls into that more case case type. Deal sir Now i really wanna talk real quick to your manager here as far as what he thinks about this whole process and what he thinks about you know running the whole show basically in getting all these things set up for you. Cj can you tell me a little bit about what it is. You do so being joel's campaign manager. You're a help him. Keep everything in line planning events whether that'd be going in doing charity work somewhere doing raffles going events. In general i kind of helped him with with the social media. Outreach help them just kind of keep everything in line okay. So when you're working with him on all these different issues. I mean it's a it's got kind of take a colt toll on you. I mean what is it that you really want it to. I mean why would somebody want to jump into something like this and and have them take this much time away from their family and and take this type of a toll on themselves. I mean is this something truly believe it. I mean what is it that far you up to where you want to do this well. I wouldn't be here right now. If i didn't if i didn't believe in joel. When i i met him i became very apparent to me that me and him are on the same The way we thinks the same I i work in law enforcement as well. So i've seen that he is very compassionate But he's he. He does his job. He does his job very well. And when he approached me on this you know we talked about it and we furthermore found that we were kind of in the same mindset. And i think he's going to be great candidate in and i wouldn't be here if i didn't think he was anything less than one hundred ten percent. It will do the job while so you don't mind all the extra work extra stress or anything like that. I mean because i mean i. I've watched a lot of the campaigns from the side. I mean i've never been directly involved with one so i don't know that much about what happens behind closed doors but i do know that i see a lot of people kinda like running around like chickens with their head cut off for lack of better terms. You know trying to get things done. I mean is it. Do you find yourself overwhelmed by this. Sometimes know definitely keeps me busy. But i'm i'm very organized person. I'm i'm a firm believer in following a plan creating a plan and sticking to it And you know making justice as needed It's it's been a lot of fun so far. I've learned a lot about myself. Learned even more about joel. And i'm very excited to see what we're capable of awesome and i'm going to be talking to you some more here in just a moment because i want to find out exactly what you've got planned for joel in just a little while so joel let me ask you. "You went to wilson county where he continued law enforcement experience and you been gaining experience since that point crawl year. While you've been here. Yes sir. I would say that as a correct statement there okay. So let's jump into a couple of other things. What exactly does it j. p. do. I know there's a lot of people here that go well. I've got to go see the jp but a lot of people don't really know what j. p. Does what are what are their duties. Yeah eddie that's a very good question. So there is a concise list on what jp does There's a lot of misconceptions as well nigh be glad to tailor that for our viewers here so jp. Here's traffic tickets. They hear misdemeanor complaints. That are by fine. Only land and tenant disputes so basically that entails evictions as wealth they perform magistrate duties with bonds and bales and they set them for people have been arrested in are in custody. They conduct inquests. So that includes deaths investigations and things like that and also they conduct marriages so you could actually marry people. That's correct. Yes that's kind of scary. I don't know about that and if you all out there actually looking to get married. Guess what So they they don't have just like one little specific job so when people walk in and they see him sitting there behind the bench. That's not all they do. no sir. that's just a fraction right. Yes are one thing. I actually left out. That's very important today. Is they also see truancy cases with truancy cases with cove in nineteen. There's been a backlog with truancy things and that that is also going to be a big issue here in this upcoming election is truancy hearings. So i gotta ask you real quick with covert right is still a truancy issue if somebody doesn't go to school because a covert i mean so as far as i know parents have a right to have their child in school or not. There is no mass mandates. There's no vest vaccination mandates by the state of texas. So i will be looking at each case independently if it has to do with anything in particular with cove it and parents protecting their children outside of that realm i would have to give further inspection on those cases so this is kind of a case to case type of beal. It's not something that just will black and white across the board exactly. It's it's each and every individual cases. Different sir okay. So we're gonna talk a little bit about morals kind of morals. Do you think you have. I think i have pretty strict morals. I i am a christian. I have a traditional conservative. Values morals are more towards the stern and compassionate side And i believe that would help me. When i view each case i believe. Every case is different and unique compassion. And you also need to be start when you say dern does that mean everybody's guilty or i mean. Is this a something where you know. You actually keep an open mind until after everything said and done. I mean what what. What's your what's your thoughts on this. So that's a very good question sir. So yesterday The damon allen act was passed by governor abbott and the state senate which affects repeat offenders and protects the public so when i talk about stern directly impacts repeated offenders. And that's another thing that i will be definitely strict on is repeat offenders within wilson county..

"I was promoted to sergeant as one of the youngest sergeants promoted in my units history. There i was tested live challenges. And that will go tied into. When i speak about communicating with the people of my age group and the challenges and the misconceptions that i've totally annihilated with that so so while beat in the military though i mean you were you were in charge of. I'm sure of multimillion dollar type equipment and so forth and so on and not only that but you had a whole slew of troops underneath you which you were in charge of as well so you were tasked with a lot of i should say and i don't mean to put words in your mouth but i mean you were tasked with a lot of responsibilities at a very young age. Yes sir i was. That's correct okay. And so you continued from the military. And what did she do afterwards. So after the military. I was kind of lost on what to do i went. I started banking for a couple of months. But then bear county approached recruiting and i started my law enforcement career with bear county with that. I'm very honored with my service. And i'm gonna tell you right now. The reason i'm doing this is because he is running for jp in my area. And i want to know everything that i can about this candidate for this very very important position now before we get on here and introduce him. I just want to let everybody know that this is a very important position in. I encourage everybody to make sure they get out and they vote because of the fact that when you have a candidate such as this and you have an incumbent. That's running against him. It is very important that you learn everything you can not only about the one. That's going against the incumbent. Learn about the incumbent as well. What kind of job has he done in the past because this is very important for you to make the proper decision on who you vote for now sitting next to me. I've got mr joel. If you go back to athens the first time democracy was really tried and darn near the last because the next time it was Switzerland and they didn't really complete their democracy The way we did but in athens had failed it became a classic example which indicated to the political world political science where all democracy won't work sooner or later the people just can't handle it they get to the point where it demagogued which is where it came in and then knowing that they all have special interests can Demagogically talk to them. Get them in groups a mess up the unity of the country Promise of things that they can't afford the state to give and In other words they lack self discipline compassion. They they're trying to just greedy. That's us we agreed. But if you have the self-discipline compassion let's say it's morality. Our founding fathers realized that if you have sufficient self discipline and compassion. They knew that morality was necessary. And i'd like to read a quote from george washington because it's so darn important takes about. This is what Our government ought to read now of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity religion and morals are indispensable supports. Let us with caution indulge. The supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar stature. Both reason and experience forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. And bigger and china they are the ones that are perfecting the systems of the future. I'm afraid for religious persecution than they're going to export him around the world now As a former ambassador at large oh for religious freedom. What do you think is missing from this report. I know you've read it extensively. I don't think that there's much missing from the report is just is really meant to chronicle the things that took place last year if anything's missing because the year was under lockdown most of the time and so most of its reporting on reporting rather than direct Okay we saw this. Are we met with that group. Because there weren't a lot of meetings took place but it's a good chronicle. It's generally considered the gold standard around the world for what's the place in religious persecution. And i think you can get a lot out of this report and we are seeing Lord david alton in england and reactions in other parts of the world really galvanizing support around human rights and calling out this religious persecution particularly the weaker Internment in china that that's a good sign and much of that is the result of your work and the work of the trump administration you know prior before the biden folks came in you will be co-chairing an international religious freedom summit in dc this july. "The most ritualistic religion of all was the catholic church so that they had abandoned their their atheism and they became roman catholics as a result of that experience teaches us in a larger way. Is the problem with being spiritual but not religious. Isn't that these people don't have religiosity. These kinds of americans they actually. They do all sorts of religious things to spinning and yoga and drink juices on fridays. Or what have you so they do. Religious things what they lack is a shared account of ultimate meaning. And that's what makes true. Religion is not just the ritual but religion ritual combined with a shared account of what what life is all about and all traditional societies. Have some aspect of that. And i don't think you can have spirituality without religion. Now it's the old fulton chain line. You when the church drops something where people drop the church. The secular world picks it up. So you don't go to mass but you hit the yoga mat. You know every sunday in the thread you write about the famous nine hundred and seventy eight. Commencement address given by russian writer. Alexander jenista and his view of the west. He said intellectuals your scholars he charged are free in a legal sense but they're him by the idols of the prevailing. Thad there is no open violence as in the east however a selection dictated by fashion and the need to accommodate mass standards frequently prevents the most independently minded persons from contributing to public life and gives rise to dangerous herd instincts. Should i be asked whether i would propose the west such as it is today as a model to my country today i would frankly have to answer negatively. No i could not recommend your society is an ideal for the transformation of ours. What was the reaction to this soviet dissidents appraisal of american intellectual life and given we're seeing in school curricula today and the academy. It's hard to argue with his argument there at absolutely raymond so he was what we would now say he was canceled. He was he was ratio. Which is what happens. On twitter where someone expresses an opinion that goes against the orthodoxy. And everyone You know a sales him or her and mocks him and sort of drums them out of the public square unless he or she issues. A kind of public apology. So he sends then which it was very hard to see in one thousand nine seventy eight which is why he got attacked so viciously by the mainstream media and even some key many conservative thinkers and writers basically said he's a coup he's a reactionary. He's a theocrat he's authoritarian but he diagnose something very well which is that in the west. Unfortunately something had gone wrong with the idea of freedom where it had been reduced to just the kind of bear legalism and the right of private actors to do whatever they wish in practice. That made it so that a lot of the media were controlled by private corporations. A lot of the academy was taken over by a conformist ideologues. And so although he the everyone had paper liberty in fact. A kind of conformism prevailed across the west and that dynamic i would argue has only accelerated since then. You see what happens with censorship on the internet. Technically supposed to have freedom of speech rights as you know. I worked for the new york post and we recently gone through this experience where we exercise one of our most fundamental rights which is to examine hunter biden and his then Vice president his father. Vice president joe biden and their dealings with foreign companies and big tech censored us outright and suspended our account even though the story itself is undisputed to this day so there is a kind of tendency towards tyranny tyranny in.

"Yeah i mean it's it's really troubling and look this is another place where the previous administration the trump administration A genocide going on here in china. this is apparently a designation that both president biden as well as lincoln the Secretary of state has agreed with. Here's the question. There are now calls to boycott the beijing olympics in winter of twenty twenty two. What do you make those calls. I think something drastic like that have to happen. I would prefer to see the. The winter olympics moved to another democratic country. So that the don't have to pay the price for this but It's how can you have an olympic game celebrating. World celebrating china While there are in the backdrop concentration camps and genocide taking place it's unfathomable and it would be. I feel if the world averts is to what is obviously genocide which the us government has declared it. Canada's parliament has declared it other countries have the uk is can parliament is considering it now. There are a number of this is catching on. I don't see how The the human rights regime worldwide can even survive if this core principle of never again will we tolerate genocide Goes by the wayside if that is discarded with the world averts thighs. Human rights is finished. I agree with you. Yeah we hear that all the time never forget never forget never forget. Let's let's let's try to focus on where it's happening today. And then take actions to stop it and look exempting ourselves from games international games or moving them to a different venue as you're suggesting seems to be the absolute minimum that these world powers government should be engaged in. They can't certify and endorse what china's doing and that's what going to those olympics. I think would mean now moving onto myanmar one month after the military coup protests have grown enormous in that country hundreds of thousands of pro democracy protesters have been fighting for the ousted president. Her supporters are being killed while vowing to push back against dictatorship..

Democrats and now the senate democrats are trying to affirm that this would be the largest amount of money being spent to promote and perform abortion probably in history of the legislation is multifaceted and there as you pointed out so correctly there was absolutely no high protection that is to say no funding for abortion and even the three hundred and fifty billion dollars that will go to states and local governments has absolutely no strings unfettered money. They can do whatever they want. Including providing huge cash amounts of cash at the planned parenthood and other abortionists. Bein has proven that he is the abortion president. Larry Itliong and the Great Delano Grape Strike

"Year is nineteen sixty five. The Vietnam War is escalating. I have today ordered. Tha Nam the Air Mobile Division and certain other footage which will raise our fighting strength from seventy five thousand one hundred and twenty five thousand men almost immediately X. is assassinated Jeff Van. The gunfire went off and his hand was up. I remember turned around and the next thing I saw smell come falling back in the jet. Martin Luther King Junior leads a series of civil rights marches in Selma Alabama. They I want to say to the state of Alabama. Just want to say to the people as a matter of and the nations of the world that we are not about turnaround. We own the move. Now yes we on the move and Norway racism the Bannon and in California farmworkers faced with racial discrimination and economic hardship organizing for their rights as workers. And as okay so quick recap on the history of farm workers on the West Coast and specifically California. Immigrants had been exploited as cheap farm labor for years. I Chinese Japanese migrants then Filipino. Nationals arrived in the nineteen twenties. Mexicans became a large part of the farm labor force around time but also just poor folks of all backgrounds looking for work. Black White Brown were exploited. They lived in shabby wooden houses near the fields. They worked for hours under the Sun. Some even lived in former concentration camps which house Japanese Americans during their internment in World War. Two since they first started coming over in the nineteen twenties Filipino. Farmworkers had tried negotiating for better working conditions and wages with their bosses. Usually white guys called growers beheld. Strikes started organizations and unions. They were often met with violence. Or they'd lose their jobs. Gore's were higher other ethnic groups. Instead scabs to their strikes like the immigrants who came before them Filipinos were thought of as hard workers who were obedient easy to control but they were also militant having lived through years of race. Riots shootouts violent. Confrontations with police growers SCABS. It wasn't uncommon for Filipinos to draw knives on the picket line. Larry it Leon came up in this old school. Militant tradition of striking labor organizing and by the nineteen sixties. He was a leader of a union that represented farmworkers call the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee. A Walk which was supported by a larger union the AFL CIO. Larry worked the likes of Mexican American activists. Dolores Huerta and Filipino. American organizers Philip Aracruz. Who called Larry the most powerful Filipino leader in a walk? He had the most experience. I mean he'd been in a lot of strikes you know and he was the head of a walk at the time this. Miriam Powell a journalist and historian who spent almost a decade writing books and articles about another famous Labor leader Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers which we'll get to in a bit in terms of the nuts and bolts like being a Labor leader running a union. Larry was the guy absolutely. That's where story picks back up as a union organizer and leader one of Larry's jobs is to visit farms in the Central Valley to recruit. New members moves his family to Delano. Where he the mostly Filipino. Workers in May nineteen sixty five opportunity knocks in nearby. Coachella valley where there are also Filipino. Workers who need help. Here's Patrick again. As older Larry. Here's some workers did a dollar forty in our Filipinos are getting a dollar twenty five an hour. Now that don't make sense to me. It's time to strike okay so to strike meant. The workers would stop working until their employers. The growers listen to the demands but striking farmworkers wasn't going to be easy they were going against big agricultural business agribusiness. The man agribusiness was the most powerful industry in California at that time. Million Powell again arm workers were really the poorest people who also had no protection all of this sort of existing health safety and labor laws that applied to other professions. Do not apply to farm workers could be fired at will. They be made to work any kinds of hours or no restrictions no health or safety requirements so for them to take on this enormously powerful industry a was a huge talent when the farmworkers decide to go on strike in the Coachella Valley. They don't go to the fields to work. Instead we pick it in demand for better wages. They held up signs march. Saying chant confront the growers. They don't get paid and some workers are even arrested. But in ten days the growers give in the workers get their fifteen cent raise. Let's pick these grapes. After the harvest Larry in the farmer workers head north to the next job the grape fields of Delano. Where they hope to get the same rates but the growers refused to give the farmworkers meeting a community. Space might remember called Filipino Hall. Let's do this. Delano has a thriving Filipino community with lots of farm workers and members of eight walk so they actually establish a Filipino Hall. And at this meeting it is packed. It's mostly Filipinos but there are also some members who aren't the Black Puerto Rican Mexican even white their backgrounds different. But they all have one thing in common. You've suffered enough under the growers and they want real change now. Really neither raised by public actress on this anymore. We are getting any younger. We need better wages and union today. Dude these courses suck breezing my us of here. Larry and the other union leaders here the farm workers but understandably they have concerns if we strike. You might lose your house. You might lose your car. Your family might be on the streets. Hungary. It's going to be tough. Are you sure you want this farm? Workers decide to vote on whether or not they should go on strike back. My name is John Arlington born and raised here in Delano in present day Filipino Hall. I talked to John Arlington. Whose Father Mariano Lila Farmington also known as Bob was a Filipino immigrant and Delano farmworker. He was in Filipino Hall. That Fateful Day my dad and our family were part of a long agriculture workers organizing committee and with Larry. And Leon Philip the Veracruz People Osco and so many others were here in this hall. I'm talking to you now. In September seventh nineteen sixty five where we had a day long second meeting about the strike. And when Larry asked if anyone could make a motion regarding strike my father stood and made the motion to begin the great strike that started in Delano. Bob's made the motion to go on. Strike those in favor of the strike. Stand up and raise your hands high. Okay so what the heck everyone standing up. We're going on a strike you crazy. Bill Pinos Next Day September eighth nineteen sixty five the farmworkers show up at the grape vineyards ready for work according to the documentary Delano Manos by Marissa. Arroyo just like any other day at work. The farmer workers started picking Ripe Grapes on the vines. Then they'd set them down on the ground they move onto the next Bein. Fake Red Grapes. Set them down. Here's a clip from the film with organizer United Farmworkers Vice President. Pete Velasco we pick the ripe grapes and trim it and then move onto the next by under the same thing at moon. Our there are a lot of big grapes under that is when about the thousand five hundred. Pretty Pianos went on strike against the grape growers in
