"Nox makes the catch at the three goes into the end zone. Touchdown. Touchdown. Buffalo Dotson Knox touchdown bills. Have a lot of friends who are bills fans because of my time growing up in New England, but also my time living in Syracuse and then Rochester and so being in western New York, and I have So many people that I have crossed paths with in my career who are bills fans, and I can only imagine two things. Number one. They were thrilled to see their team go up nine. Nothing Is you here after the me Cole Hardman Fumble nearly turned into an instant touchdown for the bills. All I could think of was remember when Nicole Hardman fumbled his Super Bowl ring on the turf in Arrowhead Stadium, going back to the summer when they had their championship ceremony Anyway, he more than made up for it. But that's the first thought that came to my mind. Remember, it got going on video, and he was like Odo, did you? Were you taking that? Did you see that anyway? So Mico Hardman fumbles the punt. And right away. The bills were able to get the Dawson Knox touchdown. And so if not for the extra point, they're up 10 Nothing. Within minutes of starting this game. So Bill stands, of course, are thrilled, right? You couldn't ask for a better start. At Arrowhead. But I know bills fans. And there's always a release. There has been for years that expectation of the other shoe to drop Now I hope that this version of the Bills Sean McDermott, Josh Alan, what an incredible season he had. This group that is made winning the norm. It had lost just one game going back to the early stages of the season. You know what game that was the Hail Mary in Arizona. Otherwise they have 12 consecutive wins. This game. Was really the way it started. Was what we've seen from the bills so often. Aggressive, fearless. Take the bull by the horns, so to speak. Take the bill by the horns. And yet for so long for bills, then there's been this Expectation that kind of holding back because generally there's a letdown. Now, I would say that's fair and you have to retrain your emotions and your thought process as a bill Bills fan, but also you know who you're playing. And the Chiefs are not intimidated by a 10 point deficit. Even a three touchdown deficit is no big thing. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio, so right away Kansas City answers with a 14 play 80 yard drive. And wouldn't you know they go back to Hardman, who has the three yard Touchdown grab, so a little bit of redemption for him. Now. I like the fact that Andy Reid doesn't just rest on that one touchdown. No, he continues to give Hardman opportunities for a lot of reasons. Obviously, he's a playmaker. But the fact that they went to him over and over in the first half to me, Maybe it's just because I'm an emotional girl. I thought it showed great compassion. Winner goes to Tampa to take on the Buccaneer Super Bowl 55 little trickery. Toss it to Hardman running toe left. He's got room. 2025 always shredding down the sideline across midfield. Hardman.
Report: Chiefs, Texans players, coaches free of COVID-19
"Football is a sport where we see players regularly get injured this season, the greatest concerns for player safety are about health conditions. We can't even see taking place as in the potential transmission of covert 19, but Great news so far among all players, coaches and team personnel who were tested last Thursday, when the season kicked off in Kansas City between the Chiefs and Titans. Nobody tested positive. Nobody. However, a groundskeeper at Arrowhead Stadium did test positive for covert 19, but reportedly did not have any contact with players. And if the Reds get to the playoffs, that's not right. Can we have some fans will know because they'll be playing out West to nine. Oh, well, trying. Maybe he's talking to carry combs. I can't get all of them either. Again. I've lost all my skin. In what anybody When we call, answer the phone. Remember the old days when we used to call him and he should take up Sandy shit with Charly Luken? Yeah. They picked up yet, so there's no plan right now for the Bengals or the Reds. "Have the 55 all the big stories you might have missed because say it with me. You work for a living those air coming up. I watched a little bit last night. Kansas City Houston Texan game just wanted to see what it looked like at Arrowhead Stadium with five people in the place, and it was rather interesting. It looked like kind of the end of Ah, a normal Texans game when Everybody in Houston. A stadium realizes that the team has lost and they want to leave. But then you have the die hards who stayed till the very, very end. Which I have always been the guy who stays till the very, very end because if everybody else is leaving early to get out of traffic, so I want to deal with that. Then there's gonna be a lot of traffic, so wait till the very end. And then there's only five people left in the stadium. So anyway, they had They had some seats that were sold. I think you had to come in and kind of a part of people you had to come in, and groups of six. You had to be together and you had to sit together and they separated everybody. So you had a crowd there. Not a big crowd. I don't know. I'm not even sure what the actual official attendance was, but I'm going to guess the NFL is going to be doing this kind of thing. All year long, and it does suck the energy out of the game. Sometimes, especially if you're playing in a stadium like arrow it that is a loud stadium. Very loud. Teams complain about how loud that stadium could get. And it's not allowed. It's kind of dead and football football kind of needs the crowd interaction. It's an energy thing. I've kind of learned that with baseball. Watching the Rangers, especially in the new stadium, which I'm sure once there are people in it. It might take on a different field. But to me watching the Rangers, the stadium just seems dark. I don't know why I just get that feel. Ugly on the outside, dark on the inside. Nice on the inside, but still kind of dark. So I was wondering Are people watching this game? I know people in Kansas City did. And Kansas City ended up winning? I think 34 20. I know people in Houston watched it, but did anybody else Ratings from last night, not overwhelmingly good down by double digits from last year season opener. On Thursday night Football. And I don't know. A lot of folks want to assign blame. The reason people are watching. Well, it's because they're doing these protests. They're locking arms. They're singing the black national anthem and said, I don't know that that's the real reason. I have no doubt that there are people who aren't watching for that reason. Most people will tell you polls are showing opposed Poles will tell you almost universally. Keep your damn politics off the field of play. You know and perform your job because that's why we're here. There is no other reason we're here. You can do whatever you want to outside the field of play. But once the game starts our once I step foot in the stadium. I am here for an event. I'm not interested in anything else. That's almost universal. For the most part, people are not interested in your protests because they don't mean anything. They're a bunch of rich guys making meaningless statements. All right. People want to assign that as to the reason folks didn't want to lie. So I I have a theory, though. I I I lived near a movie theater is pretty big one. I think it's actually scent marks their main theater because the corporate offices right next door and I drive by it on Fridays on my way home, and I'm curious because I see cars out there pretty much every night. They're not doing any day showing. But I see cars every night. People are watching movies. And I see quite a few cars on Friday, not an overwhelming amount not adjust. Unbelievable amount of people are going to the movies, but I have a feeling That we're kind of seeing things differently for whatever reason. Now we're distracted with more serious things that it's almost in some respect. It's almost kind of frivolous. To get involved in watching football or watching a baseball game or going to a movie or doing the things that we would usually do for entertainment. I have no doubt that there are some people who don't want to deal with sports because they're not interested in the protest. But I just wonder if because of the trajectory of life in 40th. It's going to take a while to get back into it again. Now we'll find out. I guess this weekend when mortgage Ames or played if that's really true. Our ratings down overall. And believe me, if they are, I'm sure that you'll hear about it. They'll be plenty of folks talking about it. See, we told you keep your politics off the field. But let's again I I know that's part of it, but I don't think that's all of it. I do really believe that a lot of us have just changed the way we look at things and especially if you're just a casual fan and something Just kind of fun. You do kind of a distraction. My aunt. Check out a couple of quarters this weekend. That kind of you. Maybe the person who's not really that interested anymore. I'm sure the die hard fans. They'll always be there. But are there enough of them anymore? All right, we're going to get to the five at five. Those stories are coming up next on 5 70.

N.F.L. Declines to Suspend Tyreek Hill After Domestic Violence Investigation
"The Kansas City chiefs have dealt with domestic violence with a few different players. But without a doubt right now the most prominent is star wide receiver tyreek Hill. I can you tell me about tyreek hill as a player and what he brings to the chiefs. Offense tyreek Hill is one. One is the most dynamic exciting explosive most fun to watch players in the NFL. He's very small wide receiver. If you were to Stanek some at the grocery store you wouldn't look at the sky and say wow he's an NFL player but when you get them on the football field key is arguably faster than anybody anybody else in the NFL. What he's able to do when he gets the ball in his hands and space weather? That's catching a pass from Patrick mahomes down the middle of the field. The Thai Rico. Taking jet sweep out of the backfield or catching a punt or kickoff return kill to the outside electrify in for the touchdown. He's one of the most exciting players in the NFL and he's expected to play a major role in the super bowl on on Sunday Probably being guarded by Richard Sherman. Can you describe what the matchup with the niners is GonNa look like yet. It should be a really great matchup between tyreek Hill and Richard Chairman. Who is the star? Cornerback for the San Francisco. Forty niners and one of the most interesting XS. and Os schematic thing. That's going on right now. Is How the chiefs are GonNa find ways to get tyreek hill away from Richard Sherman. Because they don't WanNa throw against Richard Sherman so the goal will be to find ways to get the ball to tyreek hill. Line him up in different places get him the ball and creative ways so that. They're not putting him in one on one situations against one of the best. quarterbacks and football tyreek hill was making headlines even before he ever played a single. NFL Game. Can you tell us about his college career and the incident that happened in December of two thousand fourteen yes tyreek hill kind of had a winding college football journey. He actually started at a community college and Kansas before enrolling at Oklahoma state and in his first year at Oklahoma state in two thousand fourteen he became a star immediately really because of his ridiculous speed his strength as a special teams players apart. returner this but late. In his only a year at Oklahoma state he was arrested and accused of domestic violence in an incident with his girlfriend who is twenty years old at the time and he was accused of Punching Ching her choking her and also punching her in the stomach while she was pregnant. tyreek hill was brought here to the pain county jail. His arrest comes just one week after for he was the hero of the bedlam game. So is arrest on the charge and almost immediately was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football team. He pleaded guilty into this domestic violence. Charge in addition to a battery charge and he was sentenced to three years probation. He was also instructed to go to anger management counseling to undergo domestic violence counseling. Although he was never sentenced to jail time He was able to continue his college football career when he enrolled at the university. I see of West Alabama. That's a division two school and then in April of two thousand sixteen sixty fifth in the two thousand sixteen. NFL draft against it achieves slack. Sorry Cal Wide Receiver West Alabama so it was a surprise. Actually that tyreek Hill was drafted because in in two thousand sixteen. We were still not that far removed from the Ray Rice scandal and you know tyreek Hill at kind of become kind of a poster child for a guy who got in trouble while in college in he. He was seen as one of those type of guys whose character red flags made him undrafted. He's had some issues domestic violence issue that that frankly frankly I thought might keep him from being drafted. This guy has blazing speed but the Kansas City chiefs went ahead and drafted him anyways. They drafted him in the fifth round in large part because of his forty or dash ty which was four point two nine seconds which is elite speed one of the fastest times that at any NFL players have run in years and what the reaction when he's drafted. It was pretty negative. We have to remember that. The Kansas City chiefs went through one of the most horrific horrific incidents in recent. NFL history in two thousand twelve. When one of their players linebacker named Jovan belcher killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide right in the parking lot of the chiefs training facility belcher turned one of those guns on Perkins reportedly shooting her nine times at the home? The couple shared with their three month Old Daughter the child was spared. This is a wound that was still very raw in the Kansas City community. You know very tragic senseless murder suicide aside and here the chiefs are drafting tyreek Hill player. who had pleaded guilty to very violent crime against his pregnant pregnant girlfriend and so it was? It was largely negative response especially from from female fans from the survivor community. I find that really frustrating that We're still holding up these celebrities As you know oh working on things things are getting better. We don't know what she's going through. And it's important to note that when Giovane Belcher thing happened Andy. Reid was not the head coach of the chiefs yet but he was tyreek Hill was drafted. And what's the response from from. I'm Andy Reid and from the chiefs front office when they start to see some of this backlash you know. The immediately held a press conference and tried to talk about all of the work that they had done into studying tyreek hill. Well we have our due diligence. We're regards to fooling vetting. Each one of our draft class members. They spoke to WHO His coaches and they also spoke to the prosecutors from Oklahoma in the domestic violence case and they said all right we. We believe that this guy i. I won't get in trouble again before given the opportunity for a second chancellor on the right things and so he's he's been in counseling. Continue to be in counseling. We've got a great support system here for that and that he would be a model citizen and largely for his first couple of years in Kansas City he was and despite this pushback that they're getting from fans both in Kansas City and across the country Tyreek Hill remains on the chiefs after after. He's drafted and he starts this season as punt returner. How does his rookie season go? Spectacularly from football perspective the open field. He's they're gonNA take special chance to sit in started out as kind of a wide receiver. Who is kind of buried on the Dutch art? But he was their primary punt returner and within a couple months of his rookie year. If you went to a game at Arrowhead you would see fans wearing that number ten tyreek Hill Jersey and every time that he would go back to catch a punt. You would hear in unison. Fans at Arrowhead stadium chanting tie wreak tie reek and he would feed off of it. The crowd would feed off of this energy. And you know. It didn't take long before. He became one of the most beloved players on the chiefs roster because of his football prowess and in spite of the ugly history that he had coming into the NFL and in the next few seasons go after the two thousand sixteen season so as far as football it only continued to get better for tyreek hill so as a rookie. He was primarily early. A special teams player. You know we mostly just saw him returning punts and doing a fantastic job of that. He was an all pro his rookie year. But you know after that first season he became the chiefs number one wide receiver. They moved him from a special teams roll into a role where he was going to be a major part of their offense and he handled that Smith winds up getting Franch Kansas City. He exceeded everybody's expectations as a wide receiver. She became at that point. The most important piece in the chiefs offense and then in March of last year tyreek Hill is back in the news with new allegations of child abuse. tyree kills three year. Old Son suffered a broken arm in March of Twenty nineteen. And how this this child broke his arm. That is the big question and that was what investigators in Kansas where tyreek hill his fiancee. The mother of his son were living living and ultimately nobody has determined how the child suffered this broken arm in April after about a month of investigation the district attorney in Johnson County. Kansas Released a statement that while he believed a crime had been committed they did not have evidence that can conclude Who who the perpetrator was? So that meant that it could have been tyreek hill. It could have been his fiancee. It could have been a caregiver a short time later. The case from a criminal perspective respective was ruled inactive the NFL's investigation and the Department of Children Family Services. Their investigations continued however and then the day after the district attorney in Kansas declines to press charges audio between Hill and his fiancee is released. What you'd rather him somehow or he fell one of the two? Then why does say deputy. Why Oh and just to clarify for listeners? Be Fiance Crystal. That he's talking to on this recording is the same woman that he pled guilty to abusing in college. Yes initially in April liberal part of this audio recording released and it was very damaging to tyree count. You could hear tyreek Hill could parading his fiancee. You know using threatening language is terrified of you and you say that he respects you but it's not it's not respect it's terrifying. He is terra of we need to be terrified of and the immediate reaction to that in the media from from kind of within the NFL world was how could they not charge him. After this month's later the full audio recording was released which you know didn't didn't necessarily tyreek Hill in a better light but it kind of even out the conversation a little bit reports he wrote. And if you want to rewind that night we can rewind that night to my house and pick you up and slam you know picked up and put out on my door and after that you've built bruises come from tyree waited the bruises. Come Out I'm asking. Where did the bruises come out to hit Youtube? You too and it was full audio recording that I believe is really the key piece of evidence for the NFL that led the NFL to their decision. To not ultimately punished honest. I recall after this investigation.

F. C. championship game since the two thousand two season and they jumped out to a double figure lead twice in the first half we saw them with a ten point lead and initially played a ball control game in fact they open the second quarter with a nine minute drive and while the cheese don't need as much time with the ball once again they found themselves in a big Ole and we can go back and we can look at the point at which the momentum shifted I feel like the way the defense stop the Tennessee offense after the Thai re kill twenty yard touchdown catch the defense then coming back and giving the ball to battered malls in the office again right away to me that was important they didn't have to sit on the sidelines mean Jeez offense through another nine minute drive or potentially get into the locker room at halftime without having touched the ball again because the defense went out there put pressure on Ryan Tannehill stopped Derrick Henry and got the ball right back to Patrick homes and the offense and then we got to the end of the first half our first real display of the my homes magic moving to his left latterly chase holding it and gets.

don't know what you could still the daughter she could not hide them again the title of course up seventeen thirteen by of the chief just court the artist operas from homes to probably killed there should point is good yes about fourteen hello what's your okay one what is and like to choose what they need to do that you can get a stop they have to get a different spot somewhere along the way to have good she said to go to the ability to get a stock specially would left and who are with four minutes to go and the call for the first half so you get a stopped and maybe they can get another suggestion score one international school coming out of the break and then take the lead in the play from that but right now the trail since he was fourteen hi for the love to go earlier in the first half latest change really good stuff there down I will check in with him coming up about twenty five minutes from now before we get out of here this is what you wanted in a championship game I mean you're going back and forth Kansas city has not got a stop yet Tennessee has gotten one stop so far and that's the difference in the game now Tennessee was held to a field goal on one of the drives and they're gonna get the ball back I'd say this is the most important for minute stretch of the game for either team and it could decide the outcome Casey will get the ball to start the second half if Tennessee in Tennessee that trouble the last to drive Kansas city is opal right down the field it look like Pat moans the MVP was really rolling so Tennessee wants to find a way control clock keep cannot keep Kansas city off the field if they can go get points great but I think the main thing for them is do not allow Kansas city to get the football back last time Tennessee have the ball they had it literally for what ten minutes on the touchdown drive they're doing everything Mike very able wants them to do the problem is they have to keep it up for sixty minutes because in the reading company run a punch punch punch punch punch they're like Mike Tyson is primed they're just going to throw hands until they ultimately are able to go out and knock you out so an important a huge four minutes for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans of both of them are trying to close out the first half in the right way Hey elsewhere let's get back to the NFL I want to talk about some of the other story lines going on around football right now we mention this at the top of the broadcast but Tom Brady apparently going to take some visits to other teams around the NFL remember he is a for a true free agent for the first time in in his career like literally for the first time in his career he is now a one hundred percent free agent but as I look around I don't know any franchise the Tom Brady would want to go to that is in need of a quarterback think about all the teams at or near the top have their quarterback he's not going to go to New Orleans who lost in the in the playoffs because they have their quarterback he's not going to go to Minnesota who lost in the place although Minnesota would be an interesting one the problem is their their salary cap is still tied up in Kirk cousins but he's not going to Minnesota because they have a quarterback he's not going to Philadelphia because they have a quarterback circle to Dallas not grin he could Dallas could decide Hey we'll go sign Tom Brady a stopgap scenario let dak Prescott walk in maybe with that talent like that when I think out loud that would become a very interesting landing spot for Tom Brady new head coach there in Mike McCarthy off a lot of talent around you with with the receivers that they have in Michael galloping Amari Cooper the run game that they have with obviously see Kelly the great offense of line they have I could buy into that no I don't think it actually ever happen but if you could see Tom Brady going somewhere where you have a chance to win a championship I think Dallas with Tom Brady would not be that far off but the for the problem is that Prescott prefer almost five thousand yards this year what dak Prescott for them losing football games a lot of it had to do with Jason Garrett speaking to Jason Garrett giants did finally hire Jason Garrett as their offense of coordinator in a move that brings the former cowboys head goes back to the state where he played college football Garrett's conversation without with Joe judge a new head coach help create the feeling and it sounds like the chance to work with Daniel Jones also factored into the equation Garrett said this he said quote I really like how we played when we played against them and when we saw hit him on film this year he was told he was competitive play the game the right way which is not easy to do as a rookie so Jason Garrett going to get his shot right now to play in coach with Daniel Jones it does not look like you are manning now will be in the mix no surprise there we did not figure you lie manning was going to come back but it looks like now retirement is in the cards for you I manning I gotta ask you this and I've I've debated a lot of people about hall of fame merits I guess maybe I'm a little more lenient on who should be in and who should not be in the hall of fame Eli manning's got to be a hall of Famer if nothing more than for the two runs did you have with the New York Giants are wrong no chance no he died this is one that I just don't really seem to understand too much I mean may maybe you've got a different perspective on it than I do John that I just I don't seem to understand what exactly the giants are looking for here when they're getting chasing gear I don't either I guess when you look for Jason Garrett it's somebody that's got to remember your hiring a coach that has no head coaching experience and this to me it brings me back it's like why don't you just hire the coach then that had the head coaching experience but I think part of it with Jason Garrett is they need somebody to come in Hey be able to call plays be able to groom Daniel Jones but I also think with that it's let me help Joe judge manage being a head coach because you're not going from coordinator to head coach you're going from position coach to head coach there's a huge job in responsibility from position coach to head coach coordinator you're doing a lot of their head coaching stuff you just don't have final say so on both sides of the football position coach your run in with the wide receivers during the day and you might have a little bit involved in the play calling in the in the play developing responsibility throughout the week starting with Jason Garrett I think part of that has to do with the fact that you have him come in to kind of be the second in command line Joe judge I'll say this a bunch of judge I like it but I don't like it do I need somebody that was in the division and kind of failed looking over my shoulder at all time I don't know how I feel about that elsewhere and I'll tell you how I do feel about this I I've been very very voice stress all on on social media about how I felt about this whole Odell Beckham scenario that was playing out in New Orleans I thought was one of the dumbest things that ever happened was Odell Beckham an arrest warrant being issued for him and I argued with some people and national media that I respect that I get along with that I'm friends with and everything else and they were like what if it was all a woman cop what will it was what if it was a player's wife again it wasn't what if it was the owner's daughter again it wasn't I hate playing what if scenarios for actual cigar like what played out was Odell Beckham in order Beckham if you watch all the videos of him playing the band he was posting up Karl Malone you know he he was on one and he probably had a couple of adult cocktails animals feeling great this school is going to the national title game and they ultimately won but to think that a few days afterwards you're going to issue an arrest warrant for Odell Beckham for slapping somebody on the rear end there is a difference between the locker room in real life and people kept trying to equate this me being real life well what a few slaps a cop on the block walking down the street well he's going to jail right then or the cops to a body slam and rightly so because you don't you don't play around with a police officer you're in a locker room celebrating a championship got an overzealous and I don't believe that was even a police officer I think there was a security guard an overzealous security expert yelling at kids about putting up Sir gore's victory cigars by the way for winning a national championship and you had an overzealous alumni who probably had a few too many adult cocktails having a good time never should there of being an arrest warrant issued for Odell Beckham and I find some of this offensive the people are so he should be arrested I don't care if you like the guy on or off the field or not because if you're over Beckham can be a jerk from time to time on the field he seemed to be a malcontent from time to time but to think that that's an arrest double offense is pretty stupid and I'm glad that the better part of common sense came into play and the arrest warrant was not taken out the person involved that he does didn't want Odell Beckham arrested of course the conspiracy theory there are civil Odell Beckham paid him off if he did so be it it's one of the dumbest things ever there are police forces who have enough issues to deal with we're gonna put an arrest warrant out for guys celebrating a locked room but there has to be common sense involved with this I'm glad their finally yes we'll come back we're gonna do our college football cheat sheet we'll get you caught up on what's going on in the game right now between Kansas city and Tennessee and then when we come back king could be on the move every probably not happy all right maybe a happy god I might have to buy some season tickets get that's all coming up next on SB nation message and data rates may apply individual results very exclusions apply contacts and glasses are such a hassle I'd.

"What will happen from week to week from game to game. Hell you can't even predict what will happen from in the NFL. This is after hours with Amy Lawrence. First time we've ever had an NFL doubleheader in the postseason require overtime on either end the NFC championship and the AFC championship. Both need extra minutes on the clock. And boy were they completely different outcomes for the team that won the coin flip. So that coin flip argument that you're making. Yeah, it doesn't actually apply to both. These just the there's a lot to talk about we've been doing it for the last three hours excited to have you. Join us happy manic Monday to you. I know it's a holiday for a lot of people. Whether you're a teacher, whether you happen to be well, federal employees a lot of your on forced holiday anyway. But but the idea is that our audience is different. And that will have people who are listening this morning that might not otherwise be listening and the audience on holidays, very often has more time to spend listening as well too. Because you're not so concerned about getting to bed or waking up early. So hello. To you. After hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. We're inside the Quicken Loans studios. National mortgage lender. Quicken Loans apply simply understand fully mortgage confidently. You can find the on Twitter Ayla radio. I've tweeted a plethora of thoughts about this championship Sunday. And I believe the action the the two games we had were worthy of HIV chip Sunday. And I'm sad for you of all you're taking away is oh, the revs miss this. Call oh, the rats are terrible. These were to really competitive highly entertaining games. I was having heart palpitations, not to mention the overtimes completely changed my dinner schedule. But you know, it's not all about me. And so the AFC championship. This is a game in which we had a rematch of week six remember week six Gillette stadium patriots and chief score thirty points in the fourth quarter. Well, they had an encore. For their AFC championship game at Arrowhead stadium. And as much as. The Vegas line would would point to the patriots as underdogs as much as Tom Brady wants to play up that angle he's not going to be able to do that by the way with the Super Bowl. I don't know if you've noticed, but the pats are early favorites in Atlanta. So I guess that that gets rid of the whole underdog mess anyway as much as he would like to point to that. I don't think that's how I felt going into this game. Because there's no shortcut for experience. And the brilliant coaching the brilliant game plan that was executed not to perfection. But as well as they needed to. Shows the experience of the patriots. They've got a bunch of guys including their quarterback who are versatile and can either play the uptempo quick snap offense. Trying to catch the deep buns off guard or in this particular case it was a ball control game. What's the best way to keep Pat the homes from doing damage? What's the best way to keep Pat Mahomes from throwing four touchdowns against you? Like he did at Gillette stadium. Well, you don't give him the ball and the final stats. They overtime was kind of a microcosm of it. But the final stats. They reveal this brilliant ball control game. And we'll get to the numbers coming up for the patriots from the opening kick. I kind of felt like despite what Vegas would tell you. They were the favorites. Because of all the experience they brought to the table been there. Excuse me been there done that have done it over and over and over again, it's after hours with Amy Lawrence here on CBS sports radio there. I drive against the chiefs methodical, and steady and balanced and efficient and that healthy dose of Sony. Michelle. It looked almost exactly like what we got against the chargers. A week ago in the divisional round. So Kansas City barely has the ball in the first quarter. The numbers were they were staggering a hundred and twenty three yards for the pats to minus eleven yards for the chiefs in the first quarter on their own field. Ten to one first downs in favor of the patriots. Now, there was a little life there when Reggie Ragland snags Brady throw in the end zone and prevents the patriots from going up fourteen nothing in that first quarter. But for the longest time the Kansas City offense could do absolutely nothing. They don't get it. First down. They give the ball right back to the pats. That that touchdown right before. Halftime to talk about a gut punch. Patriots. Get the ball back with three. Oh, eight left in the second quarter, and it's all Sony Michelle, and it's all James white and it's ground and pound. It's the run game that has worked so effectively for the patriots over the last month. But then you get this Philip door double move in the end zone and he catches the throw that's on the money from Brady. It's a ninety yard drive in the final three minutes and to me. Oh, talk about taking all the air out of the the stadium as well. As out of the chiefs locker room so down fourteen nothing had happened. Again, the stats are so completely lopsided. Not that I didn't think that the chiefs would have anything coming out of the locker room, but can you recover from that whole can you recover from being down fourteen nothing halfway through this game. Now started the second half. It was quick. It was officiant four plays. And the chiefs are on the board. There was a bomb. The Sammy Watkins Travis Kelsey catches the TD. And I thought okay, that's what they need to do. They've got to use these weapons. But the patriots are able to eat up more time off the clock able to wear down that chiefs defense yet again, and they're still up by double figures to wrap up the third. They get a forty seven yard field goal. From Stephen Gostkowski the fourth quarter. Then turns into what we saw the fourth quarter during the regular season. And it's really a fantastic quarter for Damian Williams three scores for the chiefs running back even though they didn't have a ton of running yards. So they're putting pressure on the patriots. And they're kind of forcing them forcing the issue forcing them to continue scoring because the chiefs are coming. And you've got that sense. And I thought it was interesting to we'll get to some of the highlights here. What we always think about with Tom Brady. You give him enough time left on the clock. And he's gonna he's gonna make you pay at the end of a half at the end of over to the end of regulation or overtime. I guess you give them enough time. Give them an inch and the guys and they take a mile. This is what has made his legend. This is what has made him a winner is that in those moments with everything hanging in the balance. If you give him an opening he's gonna knock down the door. So that it was kind of cool at the end of the fourth quarter. You got a little bit of that hand off. Now, we're not talking about the baton, you know, it's not one air to the next yet. Because Pat Mahomes did not get to the Super Bowl. It's still Tom Brady. But the idea was that, oh, they're still thirty six seconds left on the clock for Pat Mahomes. And so yeah, it was kind of neat to see Mahomes and the chiefs offense respond. Though the patriots ball control game just took a major toll on the chiefs. And that and that was something they started back in the first quarter and continued all the way through the game to the point at which it was a major advantage for them. Once they got to overtime. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. So again, it was the Damian Williams fourth quarter, but they still needed a big kick from the leg of Harrison. But Kurdish force overtime play fake. They're going to.

Boogers Andy Reed's worst nightmare strolling into Arrowhead stadium. This sunday. I think the one team that or the one coach that may have an opportunity to coach and you're eating stolen game. Like Andy Reid has done something that a lot of coaches don't do think about this injury was west coast offense field after he was west coast. Then all of a sudden, they got the Kansas City, and he met got an impact my home. And he does what most people don't do when they get an age like you stop being stubborn and says, you know, what I'm not going to do what I do. Well, and do what I know. He changed his entire offense for Patrick Mahomes per tyreek hill, and I think a lot of people out there in business. No matter what business you're in. You can take a lesson from Andy Reid, and he did a masterful coaching job. Now, the flip side of that is the guy who's been doing it for the last twenty years. It's coming in there who's got about ten Super Bowl ring as coaching and assistant coach. And I think Andy Reid is going to have to really do one of his better jobs. This sunday. Who is the coach, incidentally, most stubborn about I'm gonna do it my way, and I don't care. What happens McCarthy felt a little bit like that this year? But who are you looking when you're analyzing these games booger who's the coach that you're saying man that guy's not involving? And he's not using his talent. The best way is talent can be used these making his talent fit in his system instead of building a system around the talent. Well, I don't think you make it to this weekend doing that. I think all the coaches on this weekend have involved. I was talking about in the league. I'm sorry booger. I was talking about the league. In the league. I'm trying to think, you know, most of those guys get fired if you want to be honest. If if you look at a guy like Mike McCarthy like Mike McCarthy was calling plays that Aaron Rodgers would change the way in. So there's a guy who's system, quote, unquote, wasn't working, and he he didn't adapt. So I think some of those guys are out. But let's go back in the day. How about a guy like Bobby rose who had Barry Sanders who wanted to put a fullback in front of arguably the greatest running back ever embarrassed, San Jose, wonderful that like think about all the things that were done. They work where where some coaches would just be so stubborn that they wouldn't change wanna play for you Bruce Arians because he's not tolerating any nonsense. Bruce Arians is saying on the Adam Schefter podcast that he's got no time for Antonio Brown. Let's play that sound for booger McFarland. "Really unplugged from pop culture and sports if you need to be reminded of win the Super Bowl. You'll probably hear about it that week. Coming up any minute. Now, he'll be in the news. At least was. I'm so nervous about chiefs. Patriots. I don't know why you're nervous. I'm nervous. Maybe the first name I watch all year that that's probably why I planned to log time with that too. I've seen a lot of games at Arrowhead stadium. Lot of games in my life. It could be it could well be the coldest day ever at Arrowhead stadium. That's something watched a chiefs chargers game. One time. My beer, froze, solid and Mike. I'd never seen you. Hold onto a beer. My hands are so cold. Would frozen and they couldn't get it. I sat down under my chair wanna put my hands in my pockets trying to get some feeling in my fingers, and when I went to drink. It was frozen solid. That reminds me of a a January Chicago Bears game. I went to once where I lost feeling in my toes, then my feet, then my ankles than the bottom half of my shins when you can't feel your shins. The bears win that day. Linda, I recall? Snowball fights in the stands who was fun cold weather is not going to bother the patriots though. I mean, so. Do you think they're covered in the chiefs? I can't go. Wasn't that the cold? I think this this. They're talking about the coldest that particular stadium at Arrowhead stadium. But yeah, since I think that was the coldest. Yeah. That's Super Bowl back in. What was it in one thousand nine hundred something I guess it's been a few years. But I haven't been watching the NFL, but I might have to tune that in for a little bit to see if it indeed being out there with you know, I mean, some of some guys wear gloves and some don't some of them wear long sleeve shirts, some of them worse rashly shirts, even those kind of temperatures. That's yeah. I mean, don't they say when it gets that kind of cold you can get frostbite the matter of minutes. Yeah. I I've seen situations where those guys. "If I told you it's going to be the coldest game, potentially an Arrowhead stadium history and the coldest game easily this year and in the last two years, and I said there is one team. That's got way. More experience runs. The ball. More effectively. Never fumbles has a short precise passing game wins on a factor. And and don't really have a vertical passing game to begin with. You would take that team this weekend, just close your eyes. If I say to you lousy weather in January, what team do you think of excelling in that, by the way, it should be noted? Dan Marino didn't play welna cold paid manning didn't play. Well, the cold just like crowd noise weather is a huge detriment to teams that sling. It speed teams vertical teams that rely more on passing. And then the do running. If weather matters. And if you look at the saints history in the playoffs, Sean Payton and drew Brees are one in five in the playoffs together on the road. If you think environment matters, and I really do it's why I believe the saints are favored over the Rams this weekend neutral field. They're not favored in L A. They're an underdog the crowd is an element. So is absolutely brutal weather. Tom Brady, Michigan Foxborough twenty straight years of lousy weather. This time of the year, and by even bad, weather standards. This is going to be historic. I believe New England needed a break to win this weekend. They got one from your local meteorologist they're calling for an Arctic blast. Sounds like something you buy it Dairy Queen..

Red head. Wow. All right. So it's one nothing. Get on the board. Here Arrowhead stadium is the home to what NFL team is it the Kansas City Chiefs the New England Patriots or the Washington Redskins. Washington risking. No. That's incorrect. Angelo is the Kansas City Chiefs the New England Patriots or the Washington Redskins. We're going to say the patriots patriots. Also incorrect the Kansas City Chiefs. All right, watch soccer. I should have done. That's my phone. Yeah. Oh, next question for you, women spend on average how long deciding what to wear is it twenty days four months or one year. Four months for months now sterling is at twenty days, four months or one year. Saves me a long time. Twenty days twenty.
"arrowhead stadium" Discussed on NFL: The Dave Dameshek Football Program
"You could barely throw Nerf ball. How he looks terrific. I I'm sorry. I'm sure did that bother you. Do you not care when they when the Texans loose? I don't care. You don't care. I probably would prefer that. They lose you prefer it because you because right. Oh, Shawn's a big hero. Like when I pick games when I look at it. I I can look at it because it's been so long ago. I can look at it kind of actively into so. Yeah. Okay. They'll win the game where they won't win the game. I don't have like animosity towards them. But I mean, there's a little bit of that. Like what they had when you were playing you had over the current team is that you wore those Red Sox with the blue pants that look good. I love the when they were the blue socks with the blue pants. It looks like a unitards looks like they're missing something. Like they're wearing Jazzercise really like we used to wear. We had an all red uniform that I kind of like now see that. Now, you go through that was a on Christmas Eve, we beat the colts. That is one of the dad is one of the all time. Where's uniforms? I've seen we want a lot of games. You name win a lot if you'll want. Okay, we won like two or three. Now, we have Andy luck here with his beard. He's going to Arrowhead stadium. Can they vanquish the fiend of two thousand eighteen it's going to be I'm gonna make the statement? Andrew luck will go to Eyraud head and leave Arrowhead with a victory and perhaps some barbecue sauce in his beer. My goodness. I'm touching it. Then call talking to beat the mighty gene take it. And I really only want to hold this poll help How hold hold it. it? That's cool though. Like that you've got the helmet stickers on here too. Or they what stickers are just little stickers. I don't know. What this? I don't know why touch that. Mahomes, really good. I like the I don't want to give a chance because they don't have there. Like one of those teams that are they're improving. They're going to going up and they don't have any weaknesses. I don't see their team and say, yeah, they're bad here. Like with Kansas City. They have they have a pretty bad defense. Right. And usually those teams don't make it all the way these teams these teams make it all the way every year. Like, where's the whole? They're fast on defense. They can run with the chiefs. I I don't know. I mean, I think the colts can do whatever they want it for they could they could short in this game. They can hand the ball off. They could run the ball up and down the field. Give Pat nine possessions, eight possessions. And they they never I don't know. I am interesting. I am amazed. My final thought on that game. And in general is that a couple of things I've learned from players in the postseason, and Brian Billick just said it to me coach of the ravens, of course, last week reminded me of this. He said that the hitting gets way worse in the playoff ramp said he said eighties. I'm like that can't be true. It was playing football games. Like, why do we take something off in? In knocked. Off in October a little bit. They're like I don't want to have to sit in. This is all day for that's really true. Oh, yeah. The other thing that is true. I don't care. If people have football players have agreed with me on this too many times for me to to now back off the curse -sposed as real. When you're the team that's supposed to win like that pressure at home. And where where it gets you on not on the road. And nobody's cheer you there. But now, you're letting people down your leading home, you're letting seventy thousand and by the way, if you are the chiefs if you're the chiefs and your your season ticket holder for the last thirty years in.
Stephen A.: 'I'm embarrassed by what I'm seeing from the Pittsburgh Steelers
"Me let me to just a little bit allow me to express to you the alarming level of frustration that I on questionably feel at this particular moment in time. I cannot put into words how disgusted I am. That the Pittsburgh Steelers ended up losing this game. I can't even put it into words. Ben Rothlisberger four hundred sixty two yards passing wasted. James connor. He's no Le vian bell. Juju Smith Schuster, thirteen receptions, one hundred and eighty nine yards wasted. For two reasons above all else. Big Ben Rothlisberger leading the league in red zone interceptions. Do another one yesterday was Shelby Harrison defensive lineman getting blocked in the coverage. And ultimately Ben Rothlisberger throwing the ball right to. Now. We can make the argument that it's the freakish interception that Ben Rothlisberger may have ever thrown as he so eloquent it in the aftermath of their twenty four to seventeen loss to the Denver Broncos yesterday. Denver Broncos team. That's now beating the charges in the Steelers in back to back weeks, by the way, we could go that route. All we can state the obvious. If you watched it throw, ladies and gentlemen, it was an interception. No matter what. Whether it was Shelby, all whether it was Roe. I'm sorry. Shelby. Harris. Oh, whether it was Roby who had. Antonio Brown completely covered. I don't know what the hell big. Ben Rothlisberger was thinking throwing that pass made absolutely positively no sense. Whatever you can point to that specific interception. But it was going to get into septic. It was going to get into septic. There is no doubt about that. There's absolutely positively. No doubt about that. Yet despite case keenum only one hundred ninety seven yards. Despite the fact that Denver didn't have the most formidable run a game to speak of. They still ended up winning the game. I mean Lindsay did have one hundred ten yards on fourteen carries. That's almost eight yards per carry. I got it. But the real culprit and all of this was bent. It was turnovers from Connor. It was a drop touchdown pass from Washington. I mean, I'm just looking around right now at the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I can't even express. The level of my frustration. Because you see regardless of how. But thank Pittsburgh secondary looked earlier in the season. They had got things together. They were looking a little bit better. But now, I'm of the monster. They lost that game yesterday. And I said, dammit, they just lost a trip to the AFC championship game. Now. Now, I'm not saying that laser gentlemen, mama's saying that it's a very simple explanation. And you know, what that explanation is? It's the fact that the Pittsburgh Steelers now dropped to what is it a fourth seed. Or at least a three seed in the AFC that means Kansas City and New England both ahead of you. That means to get to the AFC championship game. You're going to have to be one of the other one a row, and I don't think they're going to do that. Now had the Steelers and all likelihood possibly fighting for birth to the AFC championship game at Arrowhead stadium against the kids City Chiefs. You know, what if you had home games prior to that one could stand the believe who knows what kind of upset could transpire maybe I'll get lucky. Now, it's no way in hell.
