"Hello, everyone. Welcome to Episode 403 of She Podcasts. I am your co -host, Jessica Kupferman, with me as always. I'm off my game today. My illustrious, I like using that one. Sure. Illustrious is good. Glowing co -host, Elsie Escobar. Yes. Our vibe today is clearly downtrodden, for whatever reason. I, you know, I, mind you, it is still summer. It is 90 degrees outside, y 'all. It's 90 degrees muggy, not too sunny. It's like super cloudy out here. Pretty terrible. And I'm wearing fuzzy socks and sweats, like I have sweatpants on and a sweatshirt on. And I was like, and my hands are a little bit cold right now. I'm not too hot. And I took off the sweatshirt and I was going to not wear it. And then when I took it off, I felt not OK. I was like, I want to put my sweatshirt back on. I feel warm and cozy and protected, I guess. I think that's why people wear sweatshirts sometimes, because it's like, it's like you're getting a constant little hug. And I think I need that right now. So, oh, yeah. So I'm just wearing a sweatshirt. You should build a hugging machine like Temple Grandin. You know what I mean? I don't want somebody to hold me and I can't move. Like, I don't want that kind of a hug. I just feel like I just want to be like, feel like cozy and safe. I mean, tomato, tomato. But I understand. Have you seen there's this actually is a thing and it's very like hip on TikTok. Mind you, the only reason I know this is because the ads on Instagram say this is hip on TikTok. I don't know whether or not that's true or not, but there is a sweatshirt that basically sells it, sells itself. I don't even know what company is from, but their their messaging is around that it is a anxiety reducing sweatshirt and it's supposedly also weighted, kind of like the blankets, supposedly. Yeah, you don't even have to get a whole blanket. You can just get like a weighted like shoulder pads kind of thing. But yeah. So there's that. So supposedly, but it's not weighted in the sense that it's like, whoa, this is like a serious weight. I think that the weightedness of this sweatshirt is the fact that the material is of a thicker nature. I'm assuming the you know, the actual sweatshirt. So it's a little bit thicker because of that. And I cannot tell you how appealing that messaging is for me, although the more research I did, the more I realized this is a sweatshirt. There's no specialness about it. There's no like it because it says call her daddy. No, no, not the one that. Well, the one that I'm wearing right now is a call her daddy sweatshirt. It's her merch. But what I'm saying, the other one that I saw on Instagram that was a weighted whatevers, I really wanted. Oh, sorry. Yeah, that's what I meant. Like the one that this is not that sweatshirt. This is just a sweatshirt. It's merch. But are you saying such a thing existed or that you thought it existed, but in fact does not? I don't know if it actually exists. I didn't want to invest in this sweatshirt that claim to be a anxiety reducing weighted sweatshirt that I that what I said is that's the messaging. And I think it's working for people to buy it because people are craving that cozy, like anxiety, like a warm and like I feel safe vibe. And when the more I researched, I did about not necessarily the company, but the product itself. And I was looking at what it was made from. And I was like, I was like, it's just a sweatshirt. Like there was nothing in it that was, oh, that's the specialness. That's right. The X factor. So it's just the way that they're marketing their clothing, which I think is a good angle, but it doesn't make the product special, if you will. I have a confession to make. Oh, no, I don't really like wearing sweatshirts and I don't own that many. Not pullover ones like what you have on. I'm not surprised. I will wear hoodie that zip. You're not surprised? Why? Because you hate being hot. But even as a kid, it felt they felt very like they were choking me like a sweater has some give kind of, you know, and I'm like showing my bra or whatever. But, you know, like, you know, sweaters have give, but like, I don't like the stiff, the stiffer the sweatshirt, the more I hate it. And there was like a time when champion sweatshirts were like all the rage. And I mean, it was like wearing movable cardboard. I hated it. Like, I agree with you. I do not like the stiff kind. I love the soft kind. This is pretty soft and squishy and it's kind of light. It's got it's made out of really light material. So it's not as dense as some of those heavier sweatshirts. And I am partial to a well -designed sweatshirt and I am also very much partial to what you're talking like. There's been a couple I have like a zippity ones are good. I I have a hoodie that, you know, the one that you pull over your head without the zipper that I bought. That is I think it's a she podcast one and I really love it. It's gray and she podcast on it. I love the color, but I you know why I don't ever wear it, because every time I put it over my head, it's so tight. It's like and then it's very tight around my neck. And that balance between having it be a properly fitting, cozy one and having the neck be open and have the hood fit properly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A hood fit. Y 'all, a hood fits everything, because if you put the hood on and it pulls you down, have you ever put that where you feel your neck or it's like your whole entire neck is getting squashed because the hoodie doesn't have enough material behind? Yeah, that's my my pet peeve, like for sweatshirts. And if you can have a sweatshirt that's like so comfy and you don't even know you have the hood on it and it's spacious, it's so rare. But yes, everything. Yes, I don't know how we got into this, but it's just because my hands are freezing. My I don't know what's going on with my body temperature at this moment, but I have two fans going on me right now. It also looks like the air quality is pitiful in here, which I don't know if that is because of the outside, but it doesn't look it does look kind of hazy out. And also I have a new one, which I can't show you, but it's like it's supposed to be like a portable air conditioner. It's like this big and you freeze the filter and then water blows out of it. And it's supposed to be it's pretty cold. I have to say there's like steam coming out of it, like cold steam. What's that called? Frost.

A highlight from A Preachers Disobedience

"Welcome to Gospel in Life. Throughout the Bible there are signs that point us to the Gospel. Today Tim Keller is looking at how we can discover them and what they teach us. Some years ago in my first, my only other church in a small southern town, a man came up to me. He was in my church and he shook my hand and he said, I really want to thank you because up until I met you I thought preachers hardly ever sinned. And I've cherished that fairly clumsy compliment because it doesn't sound very good, but here's what he meant. His understanding of sin had been totally revolutionized by the ministry there basically. He had understood, like most people I think have understood, that basically sin was a matter of the good people and the bad people, the good guys and the bad guys. And his understanding of sin, which was kind of come from a small southern town, was first you have the bad people. They use dirty words. They beat people up. They drink too much. They sleep all around town. They don't go to church. And then there's the good people. Then there's the preachers. And there's the people who don't break the rules and who come and they're very good. And what, now you know, we have backed away from that. I mean that's the old conservative culture and there's a lot of people who have reacted from that and they've created a liberal culture and what they've done is they've taken the line between the good guys and the bad guys and they've just done it like this. They've moved it 90 degrees. So some of the things that used to be bad are good and some of the things that used to be good are bad. So now, of course, I can cuss and I can sleep all around town, but I work for the environment and I work for tolerance and I make the world a better place. But the good guys and the bad guys, they're still there. The line's still there. Sin is still seeing pretty much as following the rules. What this man was trying to say was that till he understood the biblical concept of sin, Christianity made no sense and it had no power. And I've increasingly come to believe that that really is a problem both inside and outside the church. Outside the church, when people hear the word sin, they think they know what it means, but because they don't know really what the word sin means, they don't understand what the Bible means when we use the word sin, the Christianity doesn't make sense to them from the outside. And on the inside, I believe Christians also, Christians, when they read in the Bible, they see the word sin, they think they know what the Bible means by the word sin and they don't either. You see, if you don't understand sin, intellectually, Christianity will make no sense. A number of you, I'm sure, have come to church today with a friend who comes here regularly. And maybe this first time, maybe you've been coming. And this very often sort of happens between friends like this. If you're a visitor, you may afterwards say, or at some point you might say, there's many good things about this, many good things about this religion, this church, and this kind of Christianity and all that. But I don't completely agree. I differ with you on the love of God. So your Christian friend will say, what do you mean? And you'll say something like this. You say, well, I think Christianity is great, but I believe in a more loving God. I believe that all people everywhere, even people who don't believe in Christ or even people who don't believe in God, all good people everywhere can find God. And if your Christian friend understands the gospel, your Christian friend will kind of sigh a little bit and say, you know, you just left me out. You just cut me out of the herd. You just left me without hope when you said that. And you'll say, what do you mean? And your friend, he or she will say, well, but I'm not good. I mean, there's no hope for me then. If you say that all good people can find God, what about me? I'm not good. And you'll be irritated because, A, you will think this person is just exaggerating. Or B, see, just hyperbole, see. Or B, you'll think this person is joking. Or C, you'll think the person is just being difficult. But no, the problem is you don't understand what the Bible has to say about sin. And the real difference between you and your friend is not on the love of God, not at all. It's on the nature of sin. When you hear the word sin, you think you know what the Bible means and you don't. But it's not only true that without understanding sin, Christianity makes no intellectual sense but also has no spiritual power. I also believe that Christians on the inside who pretty much have the same view of the good guys, bad guys that my friend used to have, if you still have that view of sin, you're going to find out that you say, I believe in the love of God, but you have not experienced much in the way of power. Your life has not been that changed. You have not been lifted up. You have not been turned inside out. You have not found prayer and worship stuff that is so transforming you have to pull yourself away at times. You have not found all your memories healed. You have not found that you can face things in the past that you were so scared of and you can face them with joy. It hasn't happened. And you know it hasn't happened. Why not? You've been here. You've been doing it. You've been kind of running through. You know why? I would suggest, I propose, you don't understand really what sin is either. And as a result, the knowledge of God's love and grace doesn't really empower you. Now, how do you find out what the Bible means by sin? And the answer is find somebody who does obey all the rules and look at that person's life. And that's the reason why my friend said, it was great to see a preacher who obeys all the rules of very goody two shoes, who gave me a definition of sin such that I could see his sin. Now, I'm going to suggest that we do that today, but not me. I mean, there's two ways to go. We get Kathy up here and she could tell you all about this and that would be one way to figure out what the Christian doctrine of sin. The other way is to look at someone in the Bible who is a preacher and who was lifted up by the Bible to show us a very religious person, a very righteous person, a person who was a preacher, a person who was a prophet, a person who was called by God, but who falls into terrible sin. And by looking at that, we get a good idea of what sin is. It's Jonah. Now we see Jonah doing four things. Each one of them tells us something about the real nature of sin. We see Jonah running, sleeping, sinking, and rising. Number one, first of all, we see him running. What do we see? The word of the Lord came to the son of Jonah, son of Amittai, go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it because its wickedness has come up before me. But Jonah ran away from the Lord, literally it says from the face of the Lord, from the flesh. Now, why? Get right to this. God said go and preached to Nineveh. What was Nineveh? Nineveh was the capital of Assyria. And Assyria was up to this time in history, the biggest, baddest, most violent, imperialistic power, the biggest, baddest, most violent, terrible, imperialistic power that had ever risen in world history. And they were already eating countries around them, they'd already wiped some out through genocide and they subjugated others and Israel was threatened. And Jonah knows the message, what's the message? That Assyria's violence has come up, it has gotten to the place, it's gotten full. This is a typical way that God talks in the Old Testament, they talk about the iniquity of the Amrites being full, that their violence had gotten to the place where God was about to destroy them. And they were, he was supposed to send, and Jonah was supposed to go, and the message was, he was supposed to preach to Nineveh, God has seen, God will judge 40 days and you will be destroyed. But now Jonah doesn't go, why not? He tells very clearly in chapter 4 verse 2 why. In chapter 4 verse 2, which we didn't read, he says very, very clearly exactly the reason why. He says, this is why I fled to Tarshish, I knew you were a compassionate God who relents from sending calamity. Now here's what, Jonah knows that God is a holy God and a just God. But he also knows that God is a compassionate and merciful God. Jonah knows that if God wants to smash Nineveh, he doesn't need a prophet, he doesn't need a preacher. If God wants to smash Nineveh, he doesn't need a messenger. But if God wants to save Nineveh, he does. And therefore, Jonah knows that the only possible reason that God would have to send a messenger to Nineveh is he wants to give Nineveh a chance. He wants to save Nineveh, he wants to have mercy on Nineveh, he wants to help Nineveh. He wants to turn them from their violence. And Jonah says, I don't want that because then Israel will be threatened, then Israel will be at risk, and so he runs. There's a great irony here in his running, because if you look carefully, you'll see there are two words, in a sense, in the word. There's two messages. The first message, God characterizes as a message against. God says, go and preach against. Doesn't just say preach to, because God is saying the message you're going to give to Nineveh is a message against. Now the reason he uses the word against is because it's a hard word. It's a word that goes against their desires, it's a word that goes against their hearts, it goes against their lives, the direction. It's a word that's very abrasive, you see. Go preach against. But Jonah knows that even though the form of the message was against, the purpose of the message, it was a message for. It looks like a message against Nineveh, but God was absolutely being for Nineveh. And so Jonah knows, and this is why he's so upset, and the reason he's running away is because in spite of all the Hellfire sermon, the Hellfire message, he knows that God is for the Ninevites, and Jonah's not, so off he goes. But here's the great irony, the other message is, Jonah, I want you to go. Now this is exactly against Jonah's heart. It was the last thing in the world he wanted to hear. Just like the Ninevites, it was the last thing in the world they want to hear. But even though Jonah knew that God's so -called abrasive messages, messages against are really messages for, he knew that with Nineveh, but he refused to apply it to himself. Here's what he said. He says, if I do what God has asked me to do, if I obey God, it'll be bad for me, it'll be bad for my family, it'll be bad for my people, I must disobey God. Now here's what we have. We have here a recap of the history of the human race, and a recap of your own life history. In the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve were told, don't eat the tree, they were told don't eat the tree, a voice came to them and tempted them, and that voice sank into their heart, and it had to have sunk into their heart. The voice went like this. The voice said, God has told you to obey, but God, if you obey, you'll miss out. If you disobey, you'll learn new things, you'll become something new, you'll rise, there's great things out there that obedience will hold you back from. You cannot trust God. You cannot trust him to have your best interests in mind, you cannot trust that obeying him is going to really make you happy and fulfilling, you can't trust God. God is against you. His word is against you, and therefore his heart is against you. Now see, Jonah knew that the word was against Nineveh, but the heart was not against Nineveh, but Jonah refuses to believe it for himself. And back in the garden, a voice came to Adam and Eve and said, take the fruit because you can't trust God. That voice assaulted the character of God, it impugned the love of God, it stuck a dagger in the concept of his goodness. Yes, God is a God of power, and you're going to have to deal with a God of power, you're not going to be able to live your life just the way you want, but you can't trust God. You can always have to be wary of God, you have to always watch your back with God around. And I tell you this, Adam and Eve would have had to have believed that before they took the fruit. There's no other reason they would have taken the fruit. And therefore, this is the sin beneath the sin, this is the heart sin beneath all hand sins. And to really throw this into relief, to show you really here now, before I summarize, what is this? What does this mean sin is? Pretty simple in a way, but very profound. I read a book by Harold Kushner who wrote, he wrote some years ago, he wrote, When Bad Things Happen to Good People, it was a best seller, and he's written a new book called How Good Do We Have to Be? And in that, he has a whole chapter on why he doesn't believe Genesis 3, he doesn't believe the story. He doesn't believe in the story, he doesn't think that that was fair, and here's the reason why. He says, I don't believe the garden story, Adam and Eve and the serpent and the fruit, and here's why. He says, this is incredible, God gives them a command and doesn't give them any reason to do it. He says, now something like this, he says, now look, God is setting these people up for failure. He says, all God would have to do is say, now listen, Adam and Eve, I don't want you to eat this fruit, but before I leave you, I'd like to show you a five minute video of the rest of human history if you eat this fruit. So you know, they stick it in the VCR, they're watching it, thank you very much, and he walks away, Adam and Eve would have never eaten that fruit because they would have seen how my goodness, it would have happened to this and this and this, in other words, how dare God give them a command without a reason. If command without a reason is totally arbitrary, and as a result, of course they ate it. I mean, you know, why not? And then why would God punish them for that, what's so bad about that? Just to miss the whole point. You know, I keep going back to this, if you're married or if you ever get married and you're spouse says to you, do you love me, and you say yes, and then your spouse says, what are the reasons you love me? Why do you love me? Be very careful. Now I'll give you some of the reasons that you might give. Well, the reason I love you, the reason I'm faithful to you is you have a great body and we're having wonderful sex. Another possibility is two incomes, I have a much better lifestyle than I have with one. Another possibility is I've always wanted to have a family and I need somebody the opposite sex in order to have a family. Another is that you know what, you're in good shape, I'm in good shape, we love to hike and we love to climb mountains. Now here's the problem. Your spouse, of course, you know, and of course if you hear this, your heart sinks. Because you know what, these aren't reasons why you love him or her. These aren't reasons why your spouse loves you. These are reasons that your spouse loves sex, that your spouse loves money, that your spouse loves lifestyle, loves hiking, loves children, loves family, but why do you love me? Now listen, if you say, well I love you because I love you, you see, there can't be a reason for love except who the person is. You have to say, I love you not because of what you give me, in which case you don't love me, but because of who you are. And God in the garden said, there's really only one command. This is not an arbitrary command, this is not a ridiculous command, this is the command. In fact, if God had given them a reason, it would have been an invitation to sin. He would have been asking him for it. God says, I would like you to do something simply because you love me. I would like you to do something not because it benefits you, in which case you're basically not loving me at all, you're only loving what I'm giving you, I want you to love me. Now dear friends, everybody in this room wants that more than anything else. You know why? We were built in his image. We need it. We want it. We've got to have it. We demand it. We can't live without it. When we find out that somebody is not loving us, but loving us for reasons, those reasons always being benefits, we just go through the room. We can't live like that. And yet, yet Harold Kushner thinks this was an arbitrary command. The essential substratum in our heart was, God says, do something because you love me, and we said, no, I won't. No, I don't trust you. I will only from now on for the rest of my life and for the rest of human history, I will obey you if and only if it benefits me. Only if there's reasons. Only if things look like they're going to try, but, and therefore I have to pick and choose. I have to decide. I'll decide whether my obedience to this particular thing seems to get me where I want it to go. And that's sin. That's the sin underneath the sins. That's the sin at the very heart, and that is, I don't trust God. God is against me. I don't trust God. God is not for me. I will use God. I will do things only if it looks like it's getting me where I want to go, but I'll never do anything out of love for him because I don't love him. And that's the beginning. That's the heart. That's the first. Do you understand, do you see that? You see, one of the, one of the things, test yourselves, test yourselves. One of the things that's so interesting about the narrative is that Jonah just despises these dirty pagan worshipers. You see, they, they all call out to their God in the middle of the storm, ah, he, these Gentile dogs, these pagan worshipers, I'm a monotheist, he says. I don't have this primitive religion, I'm a monotheist. That's not true. Jonah, just like they, does not really have a love base but has nothing but a fear based, a terror based, an absolutely self -centered based religion. If you want to know whether yours is, take a look. Are you like the sailors? They get religious when things go bad. They cry out to their God. You know, there are no atheists in foxholes or little boats in storms. They cry out for their God. In other words, do you find yourself getting religious when things go wrong but somehow all the resolves never stick? That's just, that's a religion of using God. That's a religion of terror. That's a religion of, that's all it is. But are you like Jonah? And that is. Look at what Jonah does. Jonah is with God. Jonah's obedient. Jonah's religion, he's very religious as long as things are going well, he's the opposite. He dumps God when things go bad. The only way you will know whether you, whether you love God and are you, the only way you will know that you're giving God what every person in the face of the earth demands from everyone else, you demand, you refuse to give God what you demand for yourself, which is love for who the person is. And the way you know whether you're refusing that of God, the way you know whether you are arrogating to yourself and saying I know better than God who I should be, I know better than God what I should do, I have more love for myself than God has for me. The way you can know that is you are this way and that way depending on circumstances. Simple as that. You might be the sailor kind, you see, of God user. You only go to God when things are bad or you may be the Jonah kind of God user. You only go when things are good. But one of the things we can see is the big if. If you say I will obey if, there's a good reason. The good reason is the real thing, not God. That is non -negotiable, God is negotiable. If you don't get it, he's out. Doesn't matter if you're religious, doesn't matter if you go to church, doesn't matter if you're a preacher. Or on the other hand, a person who's running all around doing all the, you know, cussing and drinking and beating people up. Don't you see underneath what Jonah doesn't see yet, but he will soon, is you're the same. The essence of sin, God is against me, I don't trust him, I don't trust him, further I can throw him and therefore my obedience isn't really obedience, it's conditional. The second thing we see is Jonah sleeping. Not running, but sleeping. And this is extremely interesting too. I used to think that Jonah was sleeping in the storm because he was so tired, but you know what, when you're anxious and you're guilty and you're so absorbed in your problems, that's not why. I don't know about you, but I find that I sleep more poorly when I'm upset and anxious and all that. Now, if you look carefully, you'll see the storm came up and the sailors did one thing and that is they called on their gods and they started throwing things overboard. But Jonah's response to the storm was to go to sleep. And here's the reason why. This is very interesting to me. Jonah was absolutely at peace in his conscience because Jonah was ready to die for his people. And as a result, he was in absolute peace of conscience, rest of soul. He was able to sleep. You see, he has run, why? He knows that he has given his life for his people. At first, probably he thought, look, I've sacrificed my career. God's gonna deal with me, I'll probably be fired, but I'm being noble, I'm being virtuous, I'm saving my people. And when he saw the storm came, he started to realize, well, that's even better. See, his whole point is, how do I stay away from Nineveh for 40 days? Well, it's even better. It looks like I'm gonna be killed. Fine. You see, how virtuous, how noble of me. I'm willing to die for my people. And then at a certain point, he actually comes up and the sailors say, what must we do? How can we be saved? And Jonah says, well, I got an idea. I got an idea. Throw me overboard. We don't even have to wait for the storm to kill me. You drown me. And all the way along, when you read it, there is absolute calm. Just calm. I think I'll go take a nap. Ho -hum. Ready to throw me overboard? That's okay. Why? Because he is so, he is so absolutely sure that he's doing the virtuous and noble thing. Now what's this mean? One of the biggest obstacles for people to believe in Christianity is that they think they already know all about it. But if we look at Jesus's encounters with various people during his life, we'll find some of our assumptions challenged. We see him meeting people at the point of their big unspoken questions. The Gospels are full of encounters that made a profound impact on those who spoke with Jesus. And in his book, Encounters with Jesus, Tim Keller explores how these encounters can still address our questions and doubts today. Some people say must be nice as far as getting to disappear into the woods for most of September. I also disappeared into the work trade show schedule starting in November and didn't quit until August. Here's trade -offs. I got a great supporting family and wife and spouse that allowed me to be gone all year working so I can turn around and be gone all fall hunting. Never did truly find the monster bull elk or monster buck I was looking for. Found a good enough buck to hang a tag on. Messed up on a big herd bull. I'll give you guys the story real quick. We were sleeping in teepee, wood stove, titanium. Amazing on those cold mornings to start a little fire and get dressed in 90 degree beautiful heat versus 32 degree frosty mornings. Listen to bulls bugle all night that night within 50 or 100 yards of the teepee. Honestly, we could have put it somewhere different, but we had stock with us. So trying to camp on water when you're that high elevation is difficult. Anyways, there was one bull just wouldn't quit about 300 yards from camp. I snuck over there and I had a choice to go right or left. There was two small trees and I'm looking down kind of a ridge ravine into a small basin, Aspen rolly basin. There's no more than 200 yards visibility every direction, but it's a beautiful little timbered ridge that drops into this little Aspen meadow and I'm working the edge and I come to these two bushes and there's a dead tree on the right hand side and then the trail goes straight down into the open meadow. So I decided to stay in the little bit of cover. I stepped up on that dead tree cause it was a wide forked tree with a bunch of branches so I couldn't step between it. As I stepped up on there, I skylined and at 28 yards was a few cows and at 52 was the bull and some more cows and he was 3 .30, 3 .40. I would have been happy. So needless to say, they all exploded and ran away. We called in a couple of rag horns.

A highlight from Why Stretching the Neck Isn't Helpful

"Hello and welcome to the Headache Doctor podcast where it's our mission to educate and empower everyone with headaches and migraines so that you can break free from a life of fear of your next headache or migraine and dependence on medication. Well guess what, in this podcast we're going to do something that I'm sure has never been a podcast topic before. We're going to talk about on a podcast where I talk about the neck all the time and we source these headache and migraine symptoms back to the neck and we know the neck is important to think about and consider when developing a plan of care and treating these symptoms. What we're going to talk about today is why stretching the neck isn't helpful. That sounds like a crazy statement to come from me, a physical therapist who looks at the body and tries to restore movement and function and especially when it comes to the neck. We are neck experts here at Novera Headache Center but stretching the neck might not actually be helpful. What I'm talking about when I say stretching the neck is those exercises that you've probably seen if not are already doing where you pull on your head to the side to the right and maybe you hold that for 30 seconds and you pull the other way then you turn your head so you're looking down towards your armpit and you pull your head down. That would be a traditional neck stretch but what's crazy, this is crazy, we at Novera do not recommend that and that stretch or stretching the neck in general actually in large part is not helpful. That doesn't mean that it's never helpful in any situation or that no one ever feels better doing those stretches. There are scenarios where if someone says that that stretch really seems to help, that's okay. There's not a ton of harm done in those so if you've been doing those and you feel like there's someone helpful, that's okay. But what we're going to do on this podcast is we're going to bust through a barrier here and provide some insights into why stretching the neck isn't helpful. What we're going to do is going to reveal, we're going to talk about the mechanics of the neck, why the upper part of the neck is crucial. There's actually five things, five rules for exercise to address headaches and migraines that I came up with, okay. So the first is exercise needs to be specific so we'll exercises need to restore proper function and that can be looking at either the shoulder or the neck and we're going to talk about how exercises need to address shoulder tension, all right. The shoulder is closely related to the neck. If you listen to my last podcast, you'll know all about that. You're an expert on that now. We're going to touch on that a little bit. Exercise should address stability, okay. Stability of the shoulders, stability of the neck and then exercise should be sustainable, all right. You should be able to do these things for a long time. If the dentist told you to brush your teeth and floss, you wouldn't say well for how long, it was just assumed you will continue that for the rest of your life as long as you want teeth, right. If you don't want your teeth, you don't have to brush your teeth but in our scenario, if you don't want headaches, you're probably going to have to do something actively to avoid this problem that will lead to headache or migraine symptoms, all right. So why stretching the neck isn't helpful. Let's jump into these five rules for exercise and if you're new to this podcast, I want to welcome you to this podcast and let you know that we get down to both. We want to provide you, I want to provide you with the source of what's happening and real practical information that you can take home and do something with. There's a lot of things that we talk about here. This is going to be one of those podcasts where I think it's going to be very helpful and applicable for you trying to do self -care, understanding what your neck needs and even looking for providers because this can be a tool or a framework and knowing okay they they prescribe these exercises, maybe they're not working and here might be why because they don't the mark. If you go to a physical therapist and you say I have headaches or migraines or I have a neck problem, they very well might give you those stretches I described. You're pulling on the head to the side or your head's rotated and they're trying to stretch your neck, all right. We're going to talk about why that's not super helpful. The other things they might do is they might overload your neck. We'll talk about that a little bit. They might challenge the systems here, the shoulders, the neck more than they should be challenged, okay. So there's compensations, there's patterns that our body gets into and they're not necessarily the most efficient. So the way we move, the way we hold ourselves is likely there's a level of compensation there and so if we add load to that it can actually increase the issue and so we're going to break down these five rules. The first rule, exercises need to be specific. So when we're talking about headaches or migraines, when we say specific, if we're going to apply a stretch to the neck, the stretch itself needs to be specific to the problem site in the neck. So the neck is made up of all these different vertebrae, okay. The upper vertebrae mechanically are shaped differently than the mid and the lower vertebrae, all right. So from C3 down, each of those different bones in the neck, they interact with each other and allow us to do about a combined like well each does about five degrees of rotation with a combination of flexion, side bending, that sort of thing. So the mid portion of the neck total is going to equal about 45 degrees of rotation. The upper part of the neck, just C1 and C2, those first two bones, make up for the other 45 degrees. Now when we're thinking about the problem, what is the problem? Why is this person's neck irritated and why is it referring pain to their head? Well we know that anywhere from C0, so basically the base of the skull, down to C3, anywhere in that area, so basically if you're listening to this, or if you're watching, you'll see me pushing on the upper part of my neck. So it's that fleshy part just below the base of the skull. We talk about it a lot. That's going to be the sensitive area. That's what I'm talking about. That area can refer pain into the head. If we start getting into the lower segment, so C4 or C3 and down, that area doesn't necessarily refer into the head, all right. So when we're thinking about how do we restore movement to the upper part of the neck, we need to isolate the upper part of the neck, all right. So if you, and this is the primary reason why that specific exercise of pulling on the side of your head is not recommended at noveira. So when you pull on the side of your head or you rotate and you kind of pull down, what you're doing is you're doing a general stretch. So all of these different neck joints feeling are this pressure, this tension that you put through. Now you've been functioning likely for years with very little motion in the upper part of the neck. And so what has happened over time is the middle portion of your neck has had to pick up the slack. It's had to do more work because almost everyone we see can still turn their head about 70, 80, 90 degrees. It's just not coming from that C1 and C2 segment. So remember C1 and C2 does 45 and then the rest of that 45 or so comes from the middle and lower segments. If the upper part's not rotating, then the middle part and lower part has to pick up the slack. So instead of 45 degrees, they're being asked to do the 70, the 80, all right. So they're being strained and they're being pushed to do more than they want. So if you pull on the side of your head or pull down on your neck, it's not specific enough to target the upper part of the neck. So really all you're doing is stretching the segments in the neck that are already sort of overworked. And oftentimes when you do this stretch, it almost feels a little bit uncomfortable. Now, to be fair, the intent of the stretch is not necessarily to loosen up joints in the neck, but it is to relieve tension that's running through the upper trap and some of these other neck muscles. Now that is technically stretching or lengthening the upper trap muscle. But the reason we don't like it is because you do that essentially at the expense of the neck. And the problems that we see arise that lead ultimately to the head pain that you're experiencing, it goes back to the joints. And the joints are not liking that stretch, even though the muscle might get some benefit. And when the joints don't like it, you might even be in a worse scenario. So while you're doing it, there is a sense where it feels a little bit better in the moment because you're getting that stretch through the upper trap. But ultimately, we recommend that people hold off or we just don't recommend that stretch in general because it's not specific enough to the upper part of the neck. A while back, I made a video talking about how you shouldn't sleep on your stomach. And the same principle is in that. So when you sleep on your stomach, your head's rotated. When your head is rotated, it will default to demanding more from the middle part of the neck. It's not as if rotating your head to the side and laying like that for eight hours is helpful to stretch out the upper neck. It's not the way it works. It just stresses out the mid portion of the neck, which is already irritated and kind of overworked. The upper part of the neck isn't moving. And so when you ask it to move and you just set it in that position, it's likely just going to be irritated. And again, it's because of the specificity, the specific stretch needs to be to the upper part of the neck. Now, how do you do that? Well, the Sam device, which there's a portion of this podcast where it pauses and then I talk about the same device, the same device does that. That's why I created it. We also have things like the towel stretch. Um, the towel stretch was created by a physical therapist and you basically use a towel to apply a specific stretch to the upper part of your neck. When you work with people, uh, virtually that's part of the program. And then also, uh, in, oh man, I can't, I can't remember if it's in our masterclass. I think it may be. Um, but there's a, the towel stretch for the upper cervical spine is more specific. So that is one that we like to provide people. All right. So that's principle. Number one is being specific or rule. Number one, rule number two is exercises need to restore proper function. So we talked about how the neck and the shoulders are not functioning properly. You can still reach up overhead. You can still turn your head left and right. Look up and down. You can still do all these things, but it doesn't mean that it's efficient. It doesn't mean the muscles are being recruited the right way. The joints are all working as they should. And so those compensations are a problem. And so we need to restore proper function. So when we think about the neck, that really just means we're restoring the rotation that's lost through C1 and C2. When we think about the shoulders, talked a lot about this in my last podcast last week, but essentially it's restoring the resting position. And when you reach up overhead and reach behind you and you're, and you're doing these activities that are in front of you throughout the day, how are your shoulders? Um, how are the muscles being recruited so that it's an efficient, stable shoulder? It's not transferring tension up into the neck. So we big muscles doing the big jobs, little muscles doing the little jobs and the shoulder conditioned to do that properly. And part of that is just retraining the brain and how to, how to work, how to recruit these different muscle groups. Um, but in order to retrain that we actually have to physically interact with the tissue to some extent in order to, um, free it up so that it can function the way it should. All right. So rule number three is, uh, the exercises need to address shoulder tension. So when we think about if, when someone comes to us and, uh, during their initial evolves, we're starting our process. We will likely focus on the neck. When we're here in person, we'll do some stuff to the shoulder. When we're talking about things to do at home, a lot of what we talk about is actually more shoulder focused. We don't provide a ton as far as the neck is concerned. So you think there'd be like a dozen neck exercises that we'd have people do, but really there's not a lot of what we focus on as far as what someone can change or do on their own is more shoulder focused. And so shoulder tension is an important factor when we're trying to reduce stress on the neck. So the formula is this it's pretty simple. We restore function to the neck and we do that, um, primarily through hands -on manual techniques. It's, and if you're remote or virtual, uh, that's the Sam device that will help restore function to the upper part of the neck. Okay. And then part two of that is we want to reduce, uh, tension through the shoulders. The shoulders are anchored on the neck. There's probably a dozen or so muscles that originate either in the spine or in the shoulder and then attach or anchor on the neck. And so the they're, they're helping hold your head up, but that's not necessarily their primary role, but when the tension increases, they're just tethered and constantly pulling to some extent on the neck. And so your neck is, is feeling this irritation partially because of shoulder tension. And when we think about the things that are lower risk for someone to do at home, meaning like when I say low risk, it's what, what can you do on your own? That's going to feel good and not put you at risk of like irritating the neck and then causing a headache or migraine. Well, in those categories, it's generally going to be shoulder stuff. Okay. So things like pec stretches, like laying on a foam roller with your arms out to the side, things like rows or different exercises to actually, um, can counteract that tension by getting movement back through your shoulders. That can even be things like talking about posture, sleep position, finding ways to give your shoulders a break so that they don't constantly, uh, translate tension into the neck.

A highlight from Living in a World of Spiritual Counterfeits

"Jude wrote his epistle to address an urgent problem. In fact, it was so urgent that he set aside his original plan. He was going to write his version of the book of Romans to really talk about all that the gospel is to us. But there was an urgent problem. Spiritual counterfeits were infiltrating the church. And in their words and actions, they were working to lead people away from Christ and they were doing this inside the church. This is still happening today. Remember I mentioned last week that I found two counterfeits without really looking for them. Here's what one said in his own words. I want people to see a different view of Christianity. We have a cultural view of Christianity that pastors are against this and that. I'll be at the Pride Festival marching with a group, visiting with people. There is this culture that people believe homosexuality is a sin, which I don't. I want people to see a different view of Christianity. I want to change people's view of what it means to follow Jesus. This man is just one of many counterfeits in our world today. And a counterfeit is a good imitation of the original. A counterfeit is not the original. It's not the real thing, but it looks like the real thing. This man calls himself pastor. He's found in a local church. And yet, as you can see, he fits Jude's description of a spiritual counterfeit. Counterfeits are real and we must know one when we see one and avoid them when we see them. That's Jude's message. Well, how do we live in such a world? Jude closes his epistle with practical advice for you and for me. He shows us how to live in a world where we will find spiritual counterfeits like the one I just mentioned and others as well. They're out there and they're going to continue to be in our world until the Lord Jesus returns. Well, how do we live in such a world? Well, the answer is, and Jude tells us, live life. Live a biblical Christian life. Well, how do we live that Christian life in today's world? He shows us how to do it here in verses 17 through 25 in seven different ways. And number one, step number one to living a Christian life in today's world is to understand the times. Now, we know that God is in control of all things and he has a plan for history. Daniel 2 says this, speaking of God, And God is the Lord of history. We can say that history is literally his story and God directs the events of our world to fulfill his plan. Now, to live in a world where counterfeits continue to multiply, we need to understand the times. We need to understand what time it is today in God's plan. Take a look at verse 17. But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. And to understand the times, we need to go to the only reliable source about our times today, and that is the Word of God. The world won't tell us what time it is in God's program. We can't find out on our own by studying and investigating. We need to look to the Word of God. We got a new toner cartridge for our copier today, and so we went into the office to try to replace it, and I'm fooling around with this, and finally I said, we need the directions. And we took out the directions and we were able to figure out what could not be figured out without the directions, and there is now a new cartridge in the copier and it's working again. Well, in the same way, when all else fails, read the instructions. And the Word of God has reliable information about what time it is in history, what time it is in God's program for the ages. And it says here that we ought to remember the words spoken beforehand by the apostles. And so this is information that is in our Bibles, but it should also be in our minds, in our hearts. We should be able to say, what time is it in God's program? And we should be able to say, I remember, I know, because I've studied this and I've remembered this. And so he says, keep this in mind. And he says, we need to remember the words of the apostles. This is the Word of God. They were the authors of the New Testament, and when they discovered which books belonged in the Bible, they said, we need books that were written by an apostle or under the authority of an apostle. So we have the apostles' writings. That's the Word of God. That's the New Testament. And it is the New Testament that tells us where we are in God's program, what time it is in God's plan for the ages. Verse 17 says this, they were saying to you, verse 18, in the last time there will be mockers. And so we are in a time today that the Bible calls the last time, the last time. And these are the days right before the return of the Lord Jesus, the days right before the day of the Lord and the great end time drama, the tribulation, the judgments, the kingdom and the eternal state. All of that's going to happen very quickly once it begins at Jesus' return. And we are in the last time, the time period before Jesus returns and all of these events begin to unfold really in rapid succession. The Bible says this about the last time or the last days in Hebrews 1, God after he spoke long ago to the fathers and the prophets in many portions and in many ways in these last days has spoken to us in his Son. So the Old Testament was the time of the prophets and they spoke in many ways. Today we're in the New Testament, we're in the last days and the Lord Jesus is God's final message to us. John said this in 1 John 2, children it is the last hour and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared and from this we know that it is the last hour. So it is the last time, it is the last days, it is the last hour. We are very close to the return of the Lord Jesus and the beginning of the day of the Lord. John says this in 2 John chapter 1, he said many deceivers have gone out into the world those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. Now there is a single antichrist who will appear in the end times, however there are many antichrists appearing at the present time in these last days and anti means against and the antichrist of our time is a spiritual deceiver who speaks against Christ. He distorts and contradicts what the Bible says about the Lord Jesus. The word anti also means instead of or in place of and there are some who claim to be Jesus Christ. They are false Christs who will appear in these last days and there have been people through this time period who have said they are Jesus Christ. And in these last days we can expect to see spiritual counterfeits multiply, there won't be fewer, there will be more. Verse 18 says in the last time there will be mockers following after their own ungodly lusts and these antichrists, these spiritual deceivers, these counterfeits will make fun of Christ and the things of God. They are mockers, they think that the things we believe are a joke and they'll make a joke about it. They're also driven by sin, it says they're following after their own ungodly lusts. They'll also divide churches and believers with their non -biblical teachings. It says this, verse 19, these are the ones who cause divisions and so they will divide churches and believers from one another with their non -biblical teachings. And they're also unsaved and that's what's interesting about the counterfeit. The counterfeit, and I saw a video of the one I shared with you this morning, he looks very much like a pastor, very, you know, in every way sounds like one, looks like one, talks like one, is in a church like you would find a pastor, but a counterfeit. And in doing this you say, well what about these, what about their spiritual condition? Here Jude tells us that the counterfeit is not a believer, but he's not saved. Look at verse 19, worldly minded, devoid of the Spirit. And so this is a person who is natural, not spiritual. Not born again, but a natural, unsaved person, but yet trying to look like, as a counterfeit, trying to look like a teacher, a pastor, someone who you'd find in a local church. So to live in a world filled with spiritual counterfeits, we need to know what time it is in God's program. And the only way to find this out is in the Word of God. The world won't tell us, other books that are not the Bible won't tell us, we can't figure it out on our own, but the Word of God tells us what time it is. And we are in the last time, the last days before Jesus Christ returns, and the tremendous end time events will begin. It's a time when false teachers will multiply. So don't be discouraged by this, this is something we can expect. It's something that is normal for this time period. Years ago I was working with a carpenter, and I'd been a cabinet maker and millman, and they live in different worlds. In the cabinet shop, everything is a square corner, 90 degrees, no more, no less. Or 45 degrees, no more, no less. Or 30 degrees, no more, no less. Working on an old house, there's no such thing as 90 degrees. There's no such thing as 45 degrees. And so I was putting two pieces together that were supposed to fit on this part of the house, and I said to the foreman, I said, these don't fit. He said, that's normal. And he showed me how to figure out how to make things fit that wouldn't fit. And so again, he was showing me what's normal for working on an old house, and what's normal for working on an old house is not what's normal for working in the shop. And what's normal for our time is a proliferation of false teachers, of spiritual counterfeits. We'll find them, and they are out there. They'll find us. We don't have to go looking. They'll find us, probably. And so don't be discouraged by it. It tells us that God's plan is on schedule. God is not behind these counterfeits, but He is allowing them to operate within His sovereign plan, and they have a place in His plan for our time. The plan is on schedule. He's in control. And these last days are the best time to be saved. Now people say, well, I'm going to do what I want, and I'll get saved during the tribulation. Not a great idea. It's going to be very difficult to be saved during that time. People will be saved, but they will pay a steep price for their faith. Now is the time. That's why we call it the last days, and you get to say, well, we don't get sale flyers anymore. You get it in an email, or you get it in a text that says, last chance to buy whatever it is, and now is the best chance to be saved. And then number two for living in these days is to be a student of the Word. Now to live in a world of counterfeits, we need to immerse ourselves in the truth of the Word of God. Verse 20, he says this, but you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith. Now this is the language of the construction site. The foundation has been laid, and it's now time to build the structure. The foundation is the basics of the Gospel. The things we believe about salvation and being born again, we have that already established in our lives. And so the foundation has been laid, and now the structure is going up one floor at a time. I have a book about the amazing project building the Empire State Building. It's amazing. They built this, dug this huge foundation, put it in, and then the building went up floor after floor after floor. And there's a great picture of these construction workers sitting side by side on an I -beam, I don't know how many floors up, eating their lunch. And just like they're sitting in a cafe, but they're sitting, you know, a hundred feet off the ground on this I -beam having their lunch, and pretty amazing. And it was actually quite a safe project in spite of the way it looked. And so that building went up floor by floor, and almost before you knew it, it was completed. Well, in the same way, we need to be growing in the faith, in our knowledge of the faith. That is, our knowledge of the things that Christians believe. And we're to grow step by step, floor by floor, just like a building that is going up on a construction site. And this is the responsibility of every believer. This is not something we can delegate to others. It says, building yourselves up on your most holy faith. And so each of us is responsible to be growing in our Christian faith. And a firm grasp of the truth is our best protection against the counterfeit. Now bank tellers are experts at spotting counterfeit money. There's different ways they do that. And one of the ways that, one of the easiest ways for the experienced teller is to detect counterfeit money by feel. And an authentic American bill, whatever it is, a $20 bill, feels different than a counterfeit bill. The paper is different. It has a different texture, a different feel. And so he can be counting a stack of bills and will feel that counterfeit before he's had a chance to even look at it. He can tell. Why is that? Because 99 % of the time, he's handling the real thing. But every now and then, a counterfeit comes through, and he can respond to it. He can identify it right away. I have a couple of books on my shelf. One is about this thick, and then if you add the two together, they're maybe about that thick. You know, a pretty stout couple of books. And they're all about spiritual counterfeits. But they're not about every one, because there's new ones all the time. They mutate and multiply constantly. And there's no way for us to really know all of the counterfeits that are out there. But we can know the truth. So when a counterfeit comes along, then we'll know right away. We have some friends who went to a church that was a spiritual counterfeit. In fact, I interviewed a pastor of one of those churches years ago, and they told me they were traveling, and they went to this church, and they told me the name, and I said, oh, I know this one. And I said, what did you think? And they said, well, we left partway through the service. I said, why is that? Well, something wasn't right. And they realized they were in the presence of a spiritual counterfeit. Why is that? Because they were well taught in the truth, and they could spot a counterfeit right away. They never heard of this type of church before. They thought it was a Bible teaching church. But of course it wasn't. And the way they knew is that they knew the truth, and they could spot the error. And so really, that's what we need to do, is have a firm grasp of the truth in order to spiritual detect counterfeits. And so be a student of the Word, and master the Bible's teachings on the basics of what we believe. What are some of those? Well, what does the Bible say about itself? What is it that makes the Bible different from every other book? We know that the Bible says that it is inspired by God. It is God's book written through men, but it has God's message to us. No mistakes at all. The Bible says this about itself and many other things. And then of course, what does the Bible say about us, about human beings? We're talking about this in Romans, that every person who's ever been born needs to be saved. And there are many reasons for this. The Bible talks about this. What does it say about salvation? Well, there's one person, one way to be saved, Jesus Christ. What does it say about Christ? The counterfeits will have all kinds of ideas about Jesus Christ. He was a good man, a wise teacher, but he isn't God. Well, the Bible tells us who he is, and Jesus himself said, I and the Father are one. And then of course, salvation. The counterfeits, if they talk about salvation, they'll say, well, everybody's going to heaven, so don't worry about it. Or they'll say, just be good and you'll be fine. But the Bible says, no, by grace we're saved through faith, not of works, lest anyone should boast. And so the Bible talks about salvation. What about things to come? You know, there are things we cannot find out about on our own. If you're a sports fan, you wonder, what is my team going to do this year? If you're into politics, you wonder, what does the future hold in that realm? Nobody knows. And we wonder about the future and we talk about it, but we can't really discover what it is. But the Bible unveils things to come. We talked about that in Sunday school today, how the Bible unveils things that are to come, things that we can't know except from the Bible. And so these are some of the things that the Bible teaches. These are some of the basics of our Christian faith and we need to be growing in our knowledge of these things. And to master basic truths, it's good to memorize scripture. You'll see this on your bulletin today. Your word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against you. And as we memorize scripture, we begin to get a real grasp of the truth. Psalm 1 shows us how to grow in our knowledge of the word. How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night. He'll be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither, and in whatever he does he prospers. And so we need to reject the wisdom of this world, but instead delight in the wisdom of the word and meditate on it, be thinking about it. We're really kind of inundated with information, things we can listen to, things that can distract us throughout the day, and there is some value to thinking about what we know from scripture. I remember reading about a guy who, and woodworkers are kind of notorious for this, when things are slow business -wise, you begin to say, I would never have taken this project before, but I'm going to take it because I'm out of work. And so this fellow had no jobs coming in, and he took a commission for a spiral staircase with no center pole. And so he thought, well, there's got to be something about this in a book somewhere. So he went to the library, nothing. This is before the internet, so you couldn't just find it all on your phone. So he looked and looked, he asked other people, nobody knew how to do it. So he said, my alternative was to think. And that's how he solved the problem. He had enough knowledge to really answer his question, but he did it through pondering the problem and thinking it through. And it's important for us to think about what we read. One of the ways we can do that is we read a text and we say, well, what does it say? Do I know exactly what these words are saying? And what does it mean? And finally, why is it important? Why is it here in the Bible? Why is it here for me? How do I apply this? And we can do this as we meditate on scripture. That's what the man in Psalm 1 does. He's meditating all the time. Whenever he has time, he's thinking about scripture and studying it in his mind and pondering it and applying it. And so we really need to delight in the wisdom of the word and apply it and watch how God blesses our lives. So to live in a world of spiritual counterfeits, be a student of the word. Sunday school, our worship times are good places to start. What's your plan for continuing that construction project in our lives that is our growth in our knowledge of the faith? And then number three, be a person of prayer. Now living in these days of apostasy and spiritual deception can be discouraging. You know, as I watched the video of that counterfeit preaching, the camera panned toward the congregation. And that bothered me because there were people there. They were listening. They were hearing the kinds of false things that he teaches. They were believing it. They were thinking they were saved and very likely they're not. I thought, this is disturbing. It really is disturbing and it can be discouraging when you think about a world where there are active counterfeits out there. Well, again, don't be discouraged. Be a person of prayer. We can bring our burdens to the Lord. These are things to pray about. We can be a part of what God is doing as we pray and see His answer. And the Lord Jesus was a great man of prayer and teaches us how to pray. Jesus taught us this, to pray for clear direction and vision in our lives. Now Mark 1, we read this, In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and left the house and went away to a secluded place, and he was praying there. Simon and his companions searched for him. They found him and said to him, Everyone is looking for you. He said to them, Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, that I may preach there also, for that is what I came for. Now Jesus was in Capernaum, Peter's home, and he had had an amazing healing ministry there. Peter's house was full of people. The whole town was at the door. He was healing all kinds of people, and it was ongoing. And he didn't get to everyone that day and night before. And so early in the morning, people are looking for the Lord Jesus to continue this ministry of healing. And you know, if you visit a doctor's office or a hospital, you see people who are sick and need to be healed. If you walk through a hospital ward, you're almost overwhelmed by the amount of sick people who need care and need to get better. And so this town was full of people who needed, really, a miraculous healing. There was no medical way that they could be healed. It had to be done through a miracle. And Peter, Simon, came to the Lord Jesus and said, Everybody's looking for you. Come on back to town and start healing more people. And Jesus had been praying. And what happened after he prayed? He said, Let us go somewhere else. Somewhere else? What about all the suffering people in Capernaum? Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby. Why? So that I may preach there also, for that is what I came for. What is that all about? Well, the Lord Jesus was sent certainly to do some healing, but primarily to preach the gospel that people would believe and be saved and have eternal life regardless of their problems in the here and now. That's why Jesus came. And what you find, and someone said it this way, the good is the best enemy or the greatest enemy of the best. And you have two competing priorities. One is good. One is best. How do we separate those out? Well, the Lord Jesus separated those in a time of prayer. Healing is a very, very good thing to be doing. But the best thing for him at that time was to be doing what he was sent for. And he was sent to preach the gospel that people might be saved and receive eternal life. And so prayer clarifies our priorities. Ever find yourself with conflicting priorities and demands and you want to know God's will? Talk to him in prayer and he will direct. And then number two, pray before great decisions. Now the 12 apostles would be Jesus' most strategic decision. They would be the foundation stones of the church. And the night before he chose these men, he prayed. In Luke 6, we read, it was at this time that he went off to the mountain to pray and he spent the whole night in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples to him and he chose 12 whom he also named as apostles. And when we have big decisions to make, make it a matter of prayer. And then also pray for others. You know, on the night before the cross, the Lord Jesus prayed for us. We read this in John 17, I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth. Your word is truth. And so the Lord Jesus prayed for us on that night before the cross, and that is something we can always do. There was a pastor whose daughter left her family and left the Lord. And she was off living in a life of real sin, real problems. And it was a grief to everyone, to mom and dad, to the church. But they had a prayer meeting each week and they prayed for many things, including this girl, this daughter of the pastor. Eventually, God answered that prayer and she came back. And the first thing she said to the congregation, who prayed for me? She knew that people were praying and it was God that brought her back. And God can do amazing things when we pray. We can pray for others. And pray in great struggles. You know, the night before the cross, the Lord Jesus faced the great conflict of his earthly life. He was in the garden and he went a little beyond them in Matthew 26, fell on his face and prayed, saying, my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me, yet not as I will, but as you will. And when we face a great conflict or struggle in our lives, it is time to pray. And when we pray, God does the impossible.

"Welcome to The Morning Show, everybody. It is 1130 a .m. and it's September 6th. I'm here with AJ and the Druth. Hey, everybody. We have a great show lined up, everybody. We're going to talk some XRP and Asia. We're talking about Bitcoin millionaires, Bitcoin billionaires. We got some Tether news as well and also BlackRock doing some things and Coinbase taking action. And also, do you want to own Justin Bieber royalties as an NFT? We're going to talk about that as kind of a fun story right there. And then also, we might point out richest the person in every American state. We have the richest person in all 50 states. We're not going to go through all of them, but a little bit of fun with that. It's a pretty cool graphic too. How are we all doing today? Make sure you hit that like button, everybody. I think it's just time for us to just get right into the show. Make sure you're subbed to our channel here. Guys, make sure you follow me on XDZ underscore BTC. We're going to have the X minute at the end of the show. It's going to be a blast. You're going to definitely want to see what I've been tweeting and liking here, everybody. But let's just look at the markets. We've actually reduced the amount of coins by four. How do you lose your coin status on CoinGecko, AJ? You really got to mess up, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. Bear market, man. Bear market things, everybody. There's 848 exchanges. I need to start looking at that number as well. We are down, but you know what? Let me hit that refresh button. Sometimes DZ can bring us into the positive. It didn't work this time. $1 .07 trillion. 24 -hour volume is way down, though. We're not coming in at 29 billion. We're close to 50 just yesterday. Gas is only 33 gwei. Bitcoin dominance coming in at 46 .3. Feeling pretty good about my bet with Tim. Tim thinks it's going to go to 60%. It would be 62%, I think, or maybe 58 % on CoinGecko. We're going by the trading view metric. Feeling good about it, though, everybody. Now, let's look at the prices. We have Bitcoin. Bitcoin's down 0 .4%, everybody. We have Ethereum down 0 .7%. The markets, looks like the markets are really only down 0 .3%, 0 .2%. I wonder if that means there's a Tether print somewhere. XRP down 1%. We have Lido Stake Ether down right under 1%. Solana, losing a lot of those gains, folks. It is down 4 .5%. Didn't hold $20. AJ, how do you feel about Solana? I mean, can't seem to get past $20 and hold it. Yeah, I mean, it's definitely a psychological number, no question about that. I mean, the Visa news, it was big. I'm surprised people didn't pile in more, but it kind of just goes to show that the macro is more scary right now, especially everything that I've been seeing on the charts. September is never a good look. In general, the past six Septembers in a row have been bearish. Even in the bull run, still a bearish month. I just think the odds are stacked against Solana, despite the bullish news. And I think the odds are stacked for Chainlink, everybody. We have Chainlink up a little bit, up .4 1 % on this red day. XLM down 4 .5%. Chainlink, we're going to talk about some Chainlink as well. All right, let's look at the top gainers of the day. I heard if you hit the like button, you quadruple your chances that this will match your portfolio. So I'm gonna give you two seconds to go ahead and do it. One, two, all right, you clicked it. All right, now we have Casper. I didn't buy my Casper, AJ. Why didn't you tell me to buy Casper? It's my fault. You know why? I did. I did. And I didn't text you on purpose. I knew it. So why do you want to take food from my future children's mouths? It's not like that. Why do you want my dogs to starve? Do you hate dogs? No, I love dogs. I have a dog. I have a dog, Indy. All right, we have Crypto Savvy with the Super Chat. Still thinking we're going below 10k. I'm still thinking we're not Crypto Savvy. Hey, if we go below 10k, I'll give you a respectful Japanese bow. I won't go like full 90 -degree right angle, like submissive janitor looking at the CEO, but I'll give you a respectable bow there. Savvy says below 10k. AJ, do we go below 10k? Wait, below 10k on what? Bitcoin. On Bitcoin. Oh, God, no. I thought you were talking about something else. No way. No way. Santana, no need to delete that, Santana. There's no need to delete that. All right, we have Casper .2%. up 13 Again, I feel like I missed the boat. I bought 5 Chainlink instead like an idiot. Maybe I'll feel smart about it in the future, but I feel dumb today because I didn't buy Casper. We have Synthetix Network. It is up 5%. We have ThorChain up 3 .4%. Radix is always in that top 5 of losers and gainers here. Iota up 2%. And then, hey, you know, we do have Chainlink coming in at number 7 or number 8 there. All right, now let's hit the top losers. Okay, these are coins going down, going down the most. And it looks like Solana, followed by Stellar, then followed by RollBitCoin. So if you look at the weekly though, down 7%, down 2 .5%. So Stellar was in the green for the week until yesterday or until today, and then RollBit is down almost 20 % for the week there. We have eGold, also known as MultiverseX, down 3 .3%. Stacks, Stacks and Radix, always like hanging out in these top 5 areas. I don't know why. Then we have Casper, XDC. And after that, about 2 .5%. Nothing super, super crazy. Although we do have Gala. I was about to say, I'm surprised Gala is not down way more considering what happened there. I see a lot of people tweeting about the 1 .5%. So maybe there's something just a little bit psychological about the 1 .5 % there or 1 .5 cents there. So a lot of people are saying, hey, you know, it's beaten down so much. I'm going to buy more. So I think just people coming in and feeling good about that coin. Like we said, they probably just need one good, one good game. And then I expect a lot of positive price action. Nothing about the tokenomics, just a lot of positive price action. I also remember yesterday we looked at the Gala chart. It's like right at that double bottom. It didn't fall through that floor, which is good for like a reversal idea. But at the same time, it got completely wrecked from where it was even earlier this year. I remember Gala was one of the really big movers in the beginning of the year. Lost all of that momentum, but at least it didn't fall through and put in a lower low, double bottom. Hey, we have Armie Piper in the chat. I followed you today. Make sure you follow Armie Piper, everyone. I'm going to go work out and listen in. Cheers, chat. You take it easy. Armie Piper, hey, he's never, he's about the crypto gains, but he's about the real life gains too. Make sure you work your core, Armie Piper. Don't just go for the fluff muscles, talking to you, the people that curl in the squat rack. All right, you ready to talk about the main story here, MetaMask? Sure. Do you use MetaMask? Of course you use MetaMask. Of course I use MetaMask. So MetaMask is now allowing crypto cash out to PayPal and banks, but the fees could be high, folks. All right, there's a little bit of an asterisk here. They are the biggest self -custodial hot wallet. They have over 22 million users and they've added the option for users to convert cryptocurrencies into fiat like USD. As a growing list of Web3 players strive to make digital assets usable in the real world, the cash out feature initially supports the conversion of only ETH and two types of fiat depends on one location, but from there, MoonPay will take over and send the ETH to a user's designated bank account after calculating the exchange rate. Within minutes, the funds will show up in your bank. Users can also withdraw to PayPal, which is already a partner of MetaMask here. Let's see how the costs are divvied up according to MetaMask demo using MoonMask. The user chooses to withdraw 0 .5 % Ether. That's going to be roughly 80 bucks. It looks like this much is going to get gassed and then this much gets sold. So it looks like they're peeling off almost 20 % right there. Wait a minute. No, no, no. They're coming in and saying it's 8%. That's the, oh, that means there's an additional transaction cost. Okay. So we're not counting the gas fee in that total right there. Yeah, 0 .5. Okay. 0 .604.

"You couldn't pay me a million dollars a year to do his job, Mike. Why? If I'm not getting shot at or assaulted, if I actually do my job, there's a potential that I lose my job and get arrested. Why would you want to do that job? And then we wonder why we have less police officers. Welcome to another Financial Guys podcast. I'm Mike Hayflick, along with Mike Speraza. Mike, back after a beautiful Labor Day weekend. Yeah. It seems like the summer finally turned into summer here in the last week of the, uh, you know, no school times because it's been weird all summer, rain, warm, cold, windy. And then this weekend was pretty much perfect from Friday on. Beautiful. Yeah. I mean, I'm thinking middle of August to like middle of October that might be the best weather maybe in the country. I mean, it's calm. It's like 55, 60 at night, 75, maybe even 80. It's gorgeous. I don't know why more people don't come here in the summertime because it's really a great place to be. I do feel bad for kids though, because they're going back to school and 90 degrees schools and that's never fun. Yeah. The heat wave comes at the worst time. Yeah. Feel for those kids. 90 degrees in a school with no air conditioning is not fun. I remember. Well, they're just going to have to suck it up. I remember walking to school and like three foot snow uphill, both ways, six miles, eight miles home. I mean, I don't know how that could happen, right? Yeah. But they'll remember, but in the wintertime when it's not 90, they will, well, I'll be going, ah, we wish it was hot and humid again. That's right. So, um, so football season is upon us, Mike, um, massive upsets in college football already. Um, Colorado led by Deion Sanders and his son at QB, um, upsets Texas Christian university, TCU, a ranked team. And then last night, Duke, Duke, who's known for basketball, right? Yep. They ended up beating Clemson of all teams. Um, so are you into college football too? I am. I'm actually all in on the Deion Sanders train right now, too. I love what he's done with that program. I love his, his fire. He's never scared of anything. Uh, I love that. That was, that game was a lot of fun. I don't know if you watched that live, Mike, that was, um, back and forth. I think 80 points were scored in the game. It was wild kick returns, interceptions, touchdowns. I mean, you name it. They had it in that game. It was awesome. What's cool. I think, and I'm not saying like, you know, losing sucks, but some teams have lost for so long. And then to see a coach, the Clemson coach with his head down and he's just, he's shocked. That his team can possibly lose that his team could possibly be throwing picks. And, and, you know, at the very key moments in the game, like I like that because then it shows other losing teams, like with, you know, the history of losing that, yes, if you just work your ass off, you know, come together, get the chemistry, get a leader like a Deion Sanders to come in and say, I believe in you. Don't let anyone in the news tell you otherwise. I love that. Well, that's why I like him. And, you know, to bring it to politics, like it's, it's, it's, it's the Trump model, right? Of just I'm going to tell you how I feel and I'm going to, I'm going to prove what I say. And it's fun, right? I mean, you, you need, there's going to be a lot of people that hate him out there. I'm not one of them. I think he's awesome. But he's got that the bravado, right? Like I'm not scared of anything. I'm going to tell you how I feel. And you're right, Mike, we're going to go from zero to a hundred and it's going to take us five minutes instead of taking us 50 years. And he did that, right? I mean, not to say they're going to win a national championship this year, but they're going to compete every week, right? And this is a program that has stunk for the better part of two to three decades, right? So they're going to be, they're going to be pretty good. We're going to be fun to watch. And it's going to be fun to see the show of Deion Sanders. Cause I love it. And his son is a stud too, by the way, his quarterback son is a stud. All right. Now how about your grand Island Vikings? Yeah. Yeah. 35 nothing win on Friday. So that's a good start to the season. Nice. Very good. We'll see. We'll see what happens here. North Tonawanda coming up this week, but, beat up Newport 35 -0 last Friday night or this Friday night, I should say a couple of days ago.

"Yes it Divine again, Friday and today is September 1st, 2023, this episode is 4 .31 from this Mike Rich, from this Mike Mah, and we are in September, that's how easy it was, well it's it's also September 1st and it's small Saturday, oh small Saturday yes yes yes, that's two times in a row that you've missed it, oh yeah, two weeks in a row, no no I would bring it up, third week is strike three you're out, I'm sorry, well but I can't really do that because I there's not a replacement for you, although I'd like to replace you, you sure, it's just not gonna happen, won't be the same show, well you know, there's a lot of things I'd like to do with you, like what, I don't know, go out trolling in an airboat out the Everglades, I'm kidding, well I love you to death man, I would never never want anything to happen to you, really, well I'm here, yeah and you're here on small Saturday, and I'm here, I almost died, you did, yeah, oh I feel bad now that I just gave, you almost killed me, a rant on how I wanted to take you out the Everglades in an airboat, well you almost killed me what, 15 minutes ago, how, I was laughing so hard that I almost died, why because I came in looking like, no I'm just wondering what is wrong with your head, is it St. Patrick's Day, have you ever seen that comedian Carrot Top, no, yeah, you'll have to look him up, he's famous, you want me to tell people, redhead comedian, well I came in as a big joke, because today I decided, because sometimes I bleach my hair, and you know, just to have a different look, and so I, different, yeah, it's different all right, and I, and you look at the box, I really, I tried to do it too quick and bought one of those boxes off the Walmart deal, and they don't have the most expensive bleach items there, so you read on the book, and they tell you the amount of time you should leave it in there, and well, you fell asleep, no I left it the amount of time, went into the, showered it out, then about 10 minutes after dried it, came out a little more orange than I wanted, in fact it came out orange, and I didn't want any orange, I think if somebody look at you, they know which party, political party you're going for, yeah, but it's not like orange, it's not like the whole, the whole head isn't orange, I mean actually if we wanted to, we could make a Irish flag out of my head, I just, because I got white on the sides, yeah, and then there's the top, in the middle there is orange, if we just went and got some green dye and did like a mohawk strip in there, we'd have all the colors of an Irish flag, I can roll with that, you just look like a guy who's standing in the rain waiting for the bus and get rusty, that'd be an awful long time, buddy, if somebody asks you what the hell is wrong with your hair, just say this is a primer, actually some people liked it or whatever, it's not like really carrot topish, and like I'm like some kind of redhead or whatever, but it's noticeable, let's just say that, and so this whole experiment, it's not like my first rodeo, dude, I've done this before, so I got to go make a trip to Sally's Beauty today, because I had to get the professional coloring, so that after we do this podcast, I'm gonna go home and fix it, oh my god, let me just explain what happened, so man walks in, and it's dark in the hallway, so I open the door, and then he comes to me making coffee, and I burst and laugh, I almost end up on the floor, laughing for what, 10 minutes, oh yeah, I couldn't get you to stop, I thought I was gonna have to call, you know, EMTs, yeah, because his head is completely orange, yeah, it's not, come on, that's how I see it, I know, I am so happy that he prolonged my life for 15 years now, just like, thank you, well, you know, they say that laughter is medicine to the bones, yeah, well, my bones are fine, except that you were laughing so hard, they're rattling, you may want to go get a check, he's taking the dating so serious, he's going over a complete overhaul, no, I mean, I was gonna do that, whether I was going over to South Beach to see this Colombian or not, yeah, well, it's just like, oh yeah, I mean, I don't know, she might, you know, after, you know, spending a half a day with me, it might be the, you said, only half a day I ever see her, you said you don't like hippies, so you look like one now, that's for sure, oh yeah, yeah, that's so awesome, I took a picture, I'm gonna save that picture for the rest of my life, you need to, every time I'm gonna have to be down, like, mentally, this is what I need to see, that's gonna lift me from any type of dirt, yeah, ah, thank you, that was really nice, you're welcome, we have, we have Matt here with the primer on his head, you're painting cars, so he painted first rusty, so you know what he's painting over, I mean, that's a great idea, you just say, hey, I'm gonna color my head, so I want to know, I don't want to miss any place, no, or I could just be a walking billboard, for Rust -Oleum, just so awesome, if nothing works, I could go out there and just stand on the corner with a, with a can of Rust -Oleum, that'll get rid of the, hey, look at this, and get, turn it white again, it's just, if nothing works, home people will fix it, what do you think, how would I get Rust -Oleum out of there though, would I have to use like lacquer thinner, yeah, just, like, yeah, can you imagine, that'd be worse, you think, bleach burns, no, that was burning a little, you just spray lacquer thinner, maybe when it was starting, my head was starting to burn a little an itch, I might have thought to get into the shower, you just burn it, yeah, yeah, that's what happened, last time I told you about a story, when teacher was pulling my hair in the first grade, and he said I would go home and shave my head, that's what I would, maybe, that's the time, that's what I would have done in defense of no more hair pulling, yeah, but it might be a good idea, no, I don't need to, because I just got done buying $40 worth of stuff that'll fix it, yeah, just send me a picture before you go there, so I'll give you a stamp of approval, okay, so I don't want you to get depressed, yeah, I'll just wear a beanie, maybe, I'll be the only guy in South, South Beach with a beanie, beanie's those little, you know, the only idiot in Miami, 90 degree weather, and I'm in a beanie, you know what the, the Haitian, Haitian mamas, they, they have this shower head, oh yeah, when they go to Publix for shopping, I call them Haitian mamas, yeah, big ladies, they come and they have, they're wearing this awesome, it's all right, man, I, it's not my first rodeo, I've done it before, so, I love it, some people liked it when I was in Cali, they just, you know, it didn't, it wasn't that orange, and they kind of blended, this one might have a little more red, I know, you're not, you're not going that direction, like, you know, then the, in the male's direction, but California would accept anything, right, that's probably these, anything other guy, except poop on the street, I mean, my hair's, nothing, nothing, yeah, well, let's go to and Beach SOS, weekend's here, Friday, small Saturday, we are here, and we are ready to deliver anything from our items that are available at beachesos .com, no delivery charge, and takes us maybe 30 -45 minutes to get you and meet you at the entrance to the beach, and if you're working in the office in zip code 34102, get ready, we're going to be delivering lunches to offices for $10, yeah, delivered between $10 and $12, right to your desk, nice fresh organic salads, sandwiches, European sandwiches, and many more, just wait for us to wave the flag, we're working on it very hard, it's going to start $10 lunch, we just want to take care of our local people, I'm so happy to do that, right, why are you, why do you have to deliver to their desk, don't you think anybody down here in the zip code doesn't work at a desk, maybe they don't have desk, you're right, maybe somebody in the garage, well I mean you've kind of narrowed it to where you've got to be in a desk, I'm sorry, let me take it back, we don't deliver to the desk, we deliver under desk, and anywhere, so if you're changing oil, we're just gonna put it on your tire, yeah, that's it, just on the ground, yeah, so we're done with that, right, yeah, well I tell you what, you have a competition to do, yeah, yeah, why, somebody take, I just spent, I just spent today because we're taping it on a small Saturday, Friday, it's after 9 p .m, I just spent a beautiful sunset with nice looking fella, oh really, yeah, it's just like you, good looking, same name, right, yeah, oh wow, yeah, and really hard working and honest, really, yeah, nice, so just, just be careful, as opposed to me, yeah, well, exactly right, just be careful, you're not the only one here, okay, yeah, you better step up your game, I will, yeah, because he's single too, by the way, okay, right, maybe we can collaborate together and go to, you know, check out some, some places together, this is Matt and Matt, you made your choice, yeah, you choose, you want Matt or Matt, well I have a new intel for you, okay, about the situation on the beach, so first of all, there's a reason why some of our beaches are closed, right, I cannot tell you which, you know, which person gave it to me and, you know, but we have intel from the first hand, right, and in other words, we have a rat, I'm sure he's gonna appreciate that, I'm kidding, no, they have to be careful, let's call it more politically correct informant, right, and here's the deal, is that they have jobs and need to keep them, and I'm just joking about that, you know, they know what's in the know, and I think that the public generally has a right to have that knowledge, I mean, this isn't like we're setting up some kind of missile defense, no, it's public knowledge, but I just never got to it, because we are busy with other things, so we, they, they drug a lot of sand to the beach, they want to, you know, restore the beaches, we paid x amount of money, and they wanted to make it nice and pretty for the season, guess what, this hurricane came and the sand is gone again, oh yeah, it's back in the water, unbelievable, yeah, so that's what we're dealing with, now the beach entrances, they're all the damage that was, and I'll give you a list of the beaches that are closed, because there's not many that is left as a shutdown, but I want to ask public, if anybody listening to this, which I hope there are, there is people, and we know there are, please do not climb over the fences, because we can get, first of all, hurt, and we just had a situation when somebody got hurt, and EMS was called, because they were climbing over the fence on the beach, which says no trespassing, right, like, you know, why would you do that, that's kind of evident, big fence, yeah, signs that say don't go on beach, that means climb over, right, yeah, or, or it means that somebody wasn't using common sense, which is the theme of this week, and will be the theme of this show, fraternity, yeah, exactly right, common sense, because we have it, coming together as a community, right, using common sense, did I, let's look, let's be clear, so don't climb over the fence, because we just had person hurt themselves, EMS was called, so big show about that, and very important thing that people don't understand, and I didn't know that either, because that's also a lot to do with the closures of the beaches, is we had a lot of turtle nests, and that's why people, and we are asking them, you know, don't put lights on, on your houses, so if you like, if you're the luckiest person that have a beach house, then we're gonna ask you turn off your lights, or dim them on the evening, so you know, we don't have even more turtles getting lost on the shore, but 29, let me repeat this, 29 out of 32 nests, turtle nests, are gone, oh wow, or at least they're still trying to locate if there's anything, from that last hurricane, yeah, those, you know, the wooden spokes that they marked them with, they're all gone, so they now trying to find out if there's any eggs left, and if they found them, they put them, and they take them into a place that helps them to patch the turtles, yeah, and I didn't even know that, this is very interesting fact, that turtles always comes in the same place, yeah, it's kind of like salmon on the west coast, it's almost like you, you come always here, I can make as much as I can, you'll be back, you take the abuse, and you always come back, because we have free coffee and cookies, right, yeah, so that's, that's the same, so technically you're a turtle, you know what I'm saying, yeah, yeah, why not, yeah, you're also orange, no, at least from the head, you know, from the top of my head, yeah, I don't want to know more, so there's all those things that now they're dealing with, and you know, it's kind of sad, but also it's good to know that there are people here in the city, and especially employees of the city, they work hard, and for that reason, in Diva Naples and Coffee and Wine Bar, we made the promise from beginning of, before we, and if we can go and listen through our podcast, you're gonna hear our voices saying it, three, four years ago, we always said, anybody in uniform that shows up, and we always treat them for free, right, because we know they go above and beyond, and I'm just so appreciative that we have a lot of people working here that, that make this city safe, clean, yeah, and the way it is, because it could easily turn into Miami, and we would have this party and everything else, but you know, it's just thanks to those people working in certain departments, you know, that's why we don't have mess on the street, that we don't have crime, the police department, so yeah, we really appreciate, appreciate, you know, that every department do their part, and you know, we just want to make them feel like they are appreciated, so that's one of the things, and let me just tell you about the closure of the beach, so North Lake Drive is closed, 2nd, 3rd Street South, 10th, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 33rd Street South, they're all, or actually avenues, I'll take it back, they're all shut down, you can park your car there, but don't so there's not, it's not banded, you cannot park, you can park, make sure you pay for parking, because they'll still give you the 250, they are very active, and you know, for the obvious reasons, and you know, this just, we have parking around the city free, so let's just say those things that you want to pay for, that's the only way, you know, we, you know, keep the streets clean, and so on and so forth, so 32nd Avenue South just been opened, and that's a good news for our residents, because a lot of the local people go there, they fish, they, you know, chill, because it's far away from pier, and we just enjoy those entrances, so just that's another very good news, swimming advisory is lifted, so now we had little situation there, there was some bacteria in the water due to hurricane, but that's all gone, so we are clear, we have the clearance, we're good, we're good to go, right, yeah, you get everything you say to that, no, just that you can go down the beach now, and dip your toes in the water, so why you don't do that, I got my, my little wading pool at home, my baby pool, yeah, yeah, how that works for you, I'm all good with it, yeah, and sandwich with that, yeah, I have sandwiches once in a while, all right, good, okay, well just checking, which is still on the same schedule, same on, same program, fantastic, so now we have new segment, and this what, well, it's, we know what Tim Atten doesn't know, but I got it, I got a better way to say it, and it's, we know everything, that the guy who knows everything, doesn't know, there you go, did you follow the logic, yeah, I mean, it sounds like making fun of the the gentleman, the name Tim Atten, oh, it sure does, yeah, why sound like that, I don't know, because maybe you are, no, we're not making fun, no, we're just at play, we're making him famous, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, he should thank us for making him recognize even more, once they start listening to this podcast all the time, and it starts blowing up on Facebook, it'll be, you know, we're, we're, he's technically our colleague, he doesn't really respond too much to us, yeah, I mean, he's too busy writing articles, maybe some people aren't reading, yeah, we are not, we are not good in writing, so that's why we talk a lot, that's right, yeah, exactly, although we, we proclaim I'm a wordsmith, yes, you are, depends on the mood that we're in, so let me bring some news, what's going on around the town, because that's why Divine Naples Podcast is, we want to let you know what's going on, we want to bring you stories of our business people, so if you have somebody who want to share stories, if you have something interesting, events or anything like that, you can send us email info at divinenapels .com, or you can hit us on any social media under handle Divine Naples, and I just wanna, I did some research and digging, and there's so much we're gonna cover today and tomorrow, because we're in September, so we are preparing for season, season's coming, and there's a lot of going on, one thing that I'm not particularly happy is what's going on in Everglades, did you know that Everglades City, 100 year old building is coming down? Really? Yeah.

Patrick's Day, have you ever seen that comedian Carrot Top, no, yeah, you'll have to look him up, he's famous, you want me to tell people, redhead comedian, well I came in as a big joke, because today I decided, because sometimes I bleach my hair, and you know, just to have a different look, and so I, different, yeah, it's different all right, and I, and you look at the box, I really, I tried to do it too quick and bought one of those boxes off the Walmart deal, and they don't have the most expensive bleach items there, so you read on the book, and they tell you the amount of time you should leave it in there, and well, you fell asleep, no I left it the amount of time, went into the, showered it out, then about 10 minutes after dried it, came out a little more orange than I wanted, in fact it came out orange, and I didn't want any orange, I think if somebody look at you, they know which party, political party you're going for, yeah, but it's not like orange, it's not like the whole, the whole head isn't orange, I mean actually if we wanted to, we could make a Irish flag out of my head, I just, because I got white on the sides, yeah, and then there's the top, in the middle there is orange, if we just went and got some green dye and did like a mohawk strip in there, we'd have all the colors of an Irish flag, I can roll with that, you just look like a guy who's standing in the rain waiting for the bus and get rusty, that'd be an awful long time, buddy, if somebody asks you what the hell is wrong with your hair, just say this is a primer, actually some people liked it or whatever, it's not like really carrot topish, and like I'm like some kind of redhead or whatever, but it's noticeable, let's just say that, and so this whole experiment, it's not like my first rodeo, dude, I've done this before, so I got to go make a trip to Sally's Beauty today, because I had to get the professional coloring, so that after we do this podcast, I'm gonna go home and fix it, oh my god, let me just explain what happened, so man walks in, and it's dark in the hallway, so I open the door, and then he comes to me making coffee, and I burst and laugh, I almost end up on the floor, laughing for what, 10 minutes, oh yeah, I couldn't get you to stop, I thought I was gonna have to call, you know, EMTs, yeah, because his head is completely orange, yeah, it's not, come on, that's how I see it, I know, I am so happy that he prolonged my life for 15 years now, just like, thank you, well, you know, they say that laughter is medicine to the bones, yeah, well, my bones are fine, except that you were laughing so hard, they're rattling, you may want to go get a check, he's taking the dating so serious, he's going over a complete overhaul, no, I mean, I was gonna do that, whether I was going over to South Beach to see this Colombian or not, yeah, well, it's just like, oh yeah, I mean, I don't know, she might, you know, after, you know, spending a half a day with me, it might be the, you said, only half a day I ever see her, you said you don't like hippies, so you look like one now, that's for sure, oh yeah, yeah, that's so awesome, I took a picture, I'm gonna save that picture for the rest of my life, you need to, every time I'm gonna have to be down, like, mentally, this is what I need to see, that's gonna lift me from any type of dirt, yeah, ah, thank you, that was really nice, you're welcome, we have, we have Matt here with the primer on his head, you're painting cars, so he painted first rusty, so you know what he's painting over, I mean, that's a great idea, you just say, hey, I'm gonna color my head, so I want to know, I don't want to miss any place, no, or I could just be a walking billboard, for Rust -Oleum, just so awesome, if nothing works, I could go out there and just stand on the corner with a, with a can of Rust -Oleum, that'll get rid of the, hey, look at this, and get, turn it white again, it's just, if nothing works, home people will fix it, what do you think, how would I get Rust -Oleum out of there though, would I have to use like lacquer thinner, yeah, just, like, yeah, can you imagine, that'd be worse, you think, bleach burns, no, that was burning a little, you just spray lacquer thinner, maybe when it was starting, my head was starting to burn a little an itch, I might have thought to get into the shower, you just burn it, yeah, yeah, that's what happened, last time I told you about a story, when teacher was pulling my hair in the first grade, and he said I would go home and shave my head, that's what I would, maybe, that's the time, that's what I would have done in defense of no more hair pulling, yeah, but it might be a good idea, no, I don't need to, because I just got done buying $40 worth of stuff that'll fix it, yeah, just send me a picture before you go there, so I'll give you a stamp of approval, okay, so I don't want you to get depressed, yeah, I'll just wear a beanie, maybe, I'll be the only guy in South, South Beach with a beanie, beanie's those little, you know, the only idiot in Miami, 90 degree weather, and I'm in a beanie, you know what the, the Haitian, Haitian mamas, they, they have this shower head, oh yeah, when they go to Publix for shopping, I call them Haitian mamas, yeah, big ladies, they come and they have, they're wearing this awesome, it's all right, man, I, it's not my first rodeo, I've done it before, so, I love it, some people liked it when I was in Cali, they just, you know, it didn't, it wasn't that orange, and they kind of blended, this one might have a little more red, I know, you're not, you're not going that direction, like, you know, then the, in the male's direction, but California would accept anything, right, that's probably these, anything other guy, except poop on the street, I mean, my hair's, nothing, nothing, yeah, well, let's go to because maybe you are, no, we're not making fun, no, we're just at play, we're making him famous, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah, he should thank us for making him recognize even more, once they start listening to this podcast all the time, and it starts blowing up on Facebook, it'll be, you know, we're, we're, he's technically our colleague, he doesn't really respond too much to us, yeah, I mean, he's too busy writing articles, maybe some people aren't reading, yeah, we are not, we are not good in writing, so that's why we talk a lot, that's right, yeah, exactly, although we, we proclaim I'm a wordsmith, yes, you are, depends on the mood that we're in, so let me bring some news, what's going on around the town, because that's why Divine Naples Podcast is, we want to let you know what's going on, we want to bring you stories of our business people, so if you have somebody who want to share stories, if you have something interesting, events or anything like that, you can send us email info at divinenapels .com, or you can hit us on any social media under handle Divine Naples, and I just wanna, I did some research and digging, and there's so much we're gonna cover today and
