"This episode of based on a true story was produced by me, Dan lefevre. I'd like to thank Michael Carroll once again for sharing his knowledge about the world of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz that we saw in being the ricardos. If you want to learn more about the true story, definitely pick up a copy of Lucy, a to Z, the Lucille Ball, encyclopedia. As always, you can find links to that book, and more of Michael's work in the show notes for this episode, as well as on the show's home on the web based on a true story podcast dot com. Okay, now it's time for the answer to our two truths and a lie game from the beginning of the episode. And as a refresher, here are the two truths and one lie. Number one desi really did make William Frawley pledged that his drinking would not be a problem with his performance. Number two Lucy was playing a burlesque girl beat up by her pimp when she first met desi in 1942. Number three Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz eloped 6 months after meeting. Did you find out which one is a lie? Let's start with number one. Desi really did make William Frawley pledge that his drinking wouldn't be a problem with his performance. That is true. As we learned, William Frawley, who played Fred mertz in I love Lucy, was a heavy drinker like we see in the movie. And Desi Arnaz really did make him pledge that drinking wouldn't in your fear with his performance and from what we can tell it never did. That brings us to number two Lucy was playing a burlesque girl beat up by her pimp when she first met desi in 1942. That's the lie. First, Lucy and desi actually met in 1940 and not 1942, but also, as we learned from Michael, the line from being the Ricardo's that talks about how Lucy was unrecognizable because she was playing a burlesque girl character who was beaten up by her pimp. Michael clarified, that's pulled from what desi said about how Lucy looked. But it's not at all the real reason why Lucy got her fake black eye when the two met. So a pretty important difference that the movie got wrong. That means number three is also true. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz eloped 6 months after meeting. As Michael pointed out, when Lucy and desi met, it was love at first sight. They eloped 6 months after meeting and so there was true love there at first, of course, as we learned over the years, Lucy got tired of desi's drinking in flandern. If this podcast was entertaining, if you find value in what you're listening to, if you like what I do and you'd like to give back, you can do that over at based on a true story podcast dot com slash support. Once again, that's based on a true story podcast dot com slash support. Until next time, thanks so much for listening. And I'll chat with you again. Really soon.

"Her documentary about TV's Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz On the slate is a feature by Lena Dunham called sharp stick and one from Isabel Castro called miha about a music manager who discovers a new talent in another daughter of Mexican immigrants This year's all virtual Sundance Film Festival runs for two weeks Mandali del barco NPR news In that recent fire at a Bronx high rise open doors allowed thick smoke to spread to the building stairwells and 17 residents died from smoke inhalation Now as NPR's Laurel wamsley reports there are calls for new fire safety measures that could prevent such loss of life The fire started in mama dua gay's apartment at the 19 story building called twin parks northwest Our room so I wake up to everybody get out His family escaped but their apartment door didn't close behind them as it's supposed to Wagyu is originally from Mali and lives in a three bedroom duplex unit with his wife and 8 children City officials identified the cause of the fire as a space heater that had been running and was gay's apartment He says it's typical at twin parks to use one for supplemental heat Most people in the room is calling me In New York City landlords are required to keep apartments at a minimum of 68° during the day and 62 at night The use of space heaters is often a cry for help and a cry for heat U.S. congressman Ritchie Torres represents this area of The Bronx and he's announced plans to introduce legislation requiring automatic shutoffs on overheating space heaters A city council member is pushing for stiffer penalties for landlords to ignore violations While Torres and U.S. senator Kirsten gillibrand say they'll propose national laws requiring heat sensors and federally subsidized housing like twin parks It will enable real-time reports that could be sent to federal state and city housing regulators that will flag when an apartment has insufficient heat and hot water City records show there had been four complaints about the heat and three apartments at twin parks last year A spokesperson for the company said that all four heat complaints had been addressed and that they take heat complaints seriously The building was bought in late 2019 by new owners an LLC called Bronx park phase three preservation One of the companies in the ownership group was founded by Rick roper who was a housing adviser on mayor Eric Adams transition team Two residents have already brought a lawsuit against the building's owners in New York State court alleging negligence and they've notified the city of an intent to sue it as well The city's law department says it will review the claim One question is why the door to a gaze apartment didn't close automatically and slow the fire spread Glenn Corbett associate Professor of fire science at John Jay college says inspectors are never going to be able to make sure that every door closer is working at every time It's an almost impossible task for even public agencies to keep up with this because you're just so many of them There are features that can make older buildings safer he says like a public address system to instruct residents on what to do And there's one thing that would make an enormous difference He says sprinklers Sprinklers bias enormous amounts of safety because they mask over problems with door closers They mask over problems of propping doors open It allows to sort of overcome common activities and behaviors and lack of attention that a normal person wouldn't even think about And sprinklers are heat activated So they work even if smoke detectors don't In New York City new residential buildings are required to have sprinklers But the rules are different for older buildings like twin parks built in 1972 It doesn't have sprinklers throughout the building and it's not required to There have been repeated efforts over the years after other deadly fires To require sprinklers in the city's older residential buildings But adding sprinklers to existing buildings is expensive and building owners have pushed back hard on previous proposals Frank riichi is executive vice president of the rent stabilization association A group that represents about 25,000 landlords in New York City Cost is a big big factor but more importantly than that the disruption of apartments and floors is really the problem here You have to basically remove the tenants for probably several months And find somewhere for them to live in the interim As a practical measure it is really beyond disruptive to tenant's lives Senator gillibrand and congressman Torres say they'll work to secure federal funding to put sprinklers on all buildings And the U.S.'s top fire official says that despite the difficulties it is time to add sprinklers to older buildings Laurie Moore Merrill is the U.S. fire administrator at fema It's almost imperative This is the type building where we have public housing It is our lower income population These are the buildings that need it the most And so absolutely We favor retrofitting and having laws in place that require this She grants that doing so is expensive but at some point we as a society are going to have to have a very difficult conversation and in this time where we're all talking about equities This is one of those conversations What is the value of a life And will this be the fire that makes old buildings safer.

"She was a unique individual. She really was. Both in mannerisms and Javier Bardem was by no means a shoe in for a Desi Arnaz. No. But again, he had that sort of free wheeling charisma that Desi Arnaz had. I mean, he was like this outsized personality. I thought Javier Bardem did a really good job of that. I don't know that I necessarily always think of Javier by him as like a big outside personality. I usually think of him as more reserved kind of quiet and deep river slow rivers run deep kind of guy, but as your announce was very much like a big flirtatious loud. Very outgoing into it. Yeah. Very outspoken. He's a performer. He's a musician. Bandleader even. Yeah, I don't see that with Harvey everybody, but he played it really well. Yeah. It's like desi wasn't out with the band leader. It's like you were literally like the personality of the band. In front of him, but it's basically you're the liaison with the crowd. And so you kind of have to embody the spirit of the music. And so, you know, I thought that how you did a good job of embodying Ricky in that sense. Yeah, and he played guitar really well. He played the drums really well. I think his physical performance and musical performance was really spot on for that character. Both of them. Yeah. I thought it was a little weird because I grew up watching I love Lucy and like Nick and knight. And it was on reruns during the day. It was one of those shows I found occasionally. It was like one of those classic Andy Griffith kind of things where it's like I went through a spell of watch and Twilight Zone. Yeah, it was like it was on TV Land all the time, and it was on deck at night. Yeah. And it was probably the first landmark sitcom to come about. Yeah. I definitely remember watching I love Lucy and happy days. Yeah. Which happy days is the homage to that time period. You know, it's the 70s look back at the 50s by the 70s the 50s were already nostalgia. Which is crazy to think about. Yeah. And so those were the days that they must have been. But yeah, it was like I love Lucy was the first big milestone in sitcom. And Lucille Ball, you could argue it was the first true icon of TV. And Desi Arnaz two, but definitely Lucy. Well, and they were talking about some of the numbers. At the very beginning, they're talking about the size and the scale of how big I love Lucy was in the American household and what they're saying at one point you think of like the Super Bowl. You think of things that hit like number one like can't like the finales of certain shows and it's like 10 million. 15 million. It's crazy number of people watching it and they're like, I love Lucy got like 60 million people watching at the same time. Regularly. Granted, there were like four channels back then. But it was true that this was the landmark show for television where when you see in the movie CBS approaches, Lucille Ball, she's kind of like television. I'm on radio. Yeah. Yeah, which was still the big deal at the time. You know, post World War II. TV was very much a burgeoning thing. But it's like that's an interesting thing that's an undercurrent of this movie is how technology and the modern era of the Internet and all 24 hour TV is kind of diluted fame..

"And welcome back to another cinema, Sean Jordan's here with me. And we're going to continue our look at the Oscar and Golden Globe Award season. With looking at being a Ricardo's, which is a claim director, writer director Aaron Sorkin's latest film. He hasn't directed a lot, right? He mostly writes. He is very much a writer. He's gotten in the directing lately. In the last few years, as a writer, he did the west wing sport tonight. Studio 60 in the sunset strip, we're telling lass that I believe two seasons. Yeah, I think that's what surprised me because I'm used to him being like a writer, and he's really well known writer. Yeah, he directed this, which I thought he did a really job. Yeah. And then he wrote the newsroom. But also film wise, social network, Moneyball. We spent I just went like he's done quite a few films. Which seems like he does a lot of good people, stories. Yeah. Not necessarily all biopics. Like Moneyball is a biopic. This is a biopic. I'm actually just watched part of Steve Jobs that are jobs of the movie that he did with the fast vendor, which I thought was really good. Seth Rogen was excellent as Wozniak and that I don't think he was nominated for an Oscar and he probably should have been. Seth Rogen? Yeah. Yeah, he was that good in that. I haven't seen him. Yeah. I have. It's been a long time. One thing I'm learning more and more watching his movies is you would have thought I would have picked this up. I've seen a west wing. And I've seen all those TV stuff, but it's like, he's one of those writers, you could love him, or you'd get kind of turned off by him. Very, very distinct. It's like, in movies, they have the theory of the auteur, which says that the director puts his personality on something indelibly. Sorkin is the writing equivalent of that. His personality is all over everything it writes. You can't miss it. Well, I think with him directing that really doubles down because then he's not just putting the words on the paper that is his personality. He's also directing his personality into the movie. Total control. It's the Orson Welles. I mean, we talked about this. This movie did not get great reviews. No, I think it's like a 6.6 on IMDb. Something like that, which seems low low to me. Yeah. I would say that the movie just to get a little background on it explores basically the narrative jumps around it explores basically a week in the life of Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, during the peak of I love Lucy. Specifically, the week where Lucy was brought up in the tabloids, well, desi and Lucy were both brought up in the tabloids for their relationship and also for Lucy potentially being a communist. Yeah. It's like this is also the peak of the hueck..

It's been so long since we've seen it because you've had a baby. You've got stuff to do. Please come back. This is my day normally to watch him all day. We each give each other a day off on the weekend. Thank you for the kids for me then. For himself now. So it's great. Three years old. It takes care of himself. He's out probably on the backyard play in hawkman from slash warrior. That's like his thing. That's the cutest thing I ever heard. He loves that song. That's awesome. Thank you, Christina Warren. You are awesome too. Are you going to get to go back on the road? You were doing those ignite sessions and everything? I wish I have no idea. No, I don't know. I mean, things have been things have changed so much. I mean, I thought that where we were a few months ago is different than where we are now. So hopefully, I will be able to do that more. I hope so. We will see. Hopefully, I kind of hope on burns through and kind of we can do that. That's all of our hope. But yeah, no, I have to second Ashley's wreck on that mic. I have one. I do not, I'm not using it right now because my office is a disaster, and I'm trying to set it up. But I did actually buy one because I had a similar experience. It's her I used it on a project and I was like, it's so good. So secondary road looks like I'm using a road which is fine. But the SM 7 B is just way better. But yeah, so I'm not, I am, I did. I do want to plug. We just brought it back actually. It's a new show that I'm doing on the Microsoft developer, YouTube channel, every Friday, comes out. It's called the download with Christina Warren and it's basically kind of a rundown of the latest things happening in the developer news space and the developer space every week. So YouTube dot com slash Microsoft developer is where you can see episodes of that each Friday. Nice. Congratulations. Thank you. That'll be fun. I'll be I'll start watching that. That's great. Yeah. Really good. Thank you, Christina. Great to see you. Thank you, great being here. And we want to thank Desi Arnaz in the shape of rich tomorrow for joining us. He kind of does look like desi. Rich on tech TV, anything you want to plug rich. You know, my podcast is called rich on tech. It's where I talk about I basically answer questions that people send me. So, you know, obviously being on TV, people send me questions about technology. So I answer those every week. DM on Instagram. He loves it when you do that. I forget about it. It emails the easiest to honestly, but I'll take the DMs. But Instagram is my favorite. I'm at rich on tech on Instagram. I post a lot of cool stuff. It's funny because it was like two years of ice to post a lot of cool tech videos. And then it's like without going to things it got a lot tougher to do that. "This is fresh air. I'm Terry gross. My guest is Nicole Kidman. She stars in the new film being the ricardos, a fictionalized version of what happened behind the scenes in one eventful week while Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz was shooting an episode of I love Lucy. The film was written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. Kidman just won a Golden Globe for her performance in the film. In a way she plays two roles as the actress Lucille Ball. She's a powerful woman who understands how comedy works and the kind of comedy she's best at, and knows how to fight for it with the writers and the director. Kidman's voice and physical presence change when she's playing Lucy Ricardo in the episode they're shooting of I love Lucy, which is a recreation of an actual episode of the show. In 2020, Kidman was number 5 on The New York Times list of the 25 greatest actors of the century so far. Kidman also won the best actress Emmy and Golden Globe for her performance in the HBO series, big little lies, which also won an Emmy for outstanding limited series. She was an executive producer. It's part of the work she's taken on behind the scenes, getting more creative control, and creating interesting roles for herself and other women. In 2003, she became the first Australian actress to win an Oscar when she received it for her portrayal of writer, Virginia Woolf, in the hours. The film that made her a star in America, the dark comedy to die for, earned her a Golden Globe in 1996. There's plenty of other awards I can mention like the 2002 Golden Globe for moulin rouge, but let's get to the interview. Nicole Kidman, welcome to fresh air. Thank you so much for joining us. You're speaking to us from Australia. We're with your mother who has had some health issues lately and you're taking care of her. How are you? And how is omicron known in Australia? "In New York, her house became a very comfortable place for lesbian and gay men to hang out and be themselves and many of the women who worked for her were lesbians as well. And so there was always some rumor later in her life even among her family members that perhaps she was a lesbian, but again, same thing. I think really she was somebody who was very self contained and had decided that perhaps in this life romance was not going to be in her cards. Who's next for you after Henry ward beecher and Polly Adler? I mean, I have no prediction here. Oh, nor do I. I am, I'm getting older for heaven's sakes. If I take another 14 years, who knows if I will even last, you know, it takes so much to do one of these books and being a biographer is in no way to make a living. It combines all the penury of Bohemia with all the punctilious Ness of the petty bourgeoisie, which is not my favorite combination. Although, as my editor at double day always hastens to add, you get all the pleasures of the peeping Tom as well. What I like is the hunt. I love the following of the hunches. I love a library and an archive. But I would also like to rejoin the world. So right now, I have absolutely no plans to write another book. This is plenty. And it's a heavy book for having sex. It is heavy. It's physically heavy. I obviously had a lot to prove because I have a hundred pages of footnotes and bibliography in there, which I should add is not typical for a gangster book. So that I'm actually pleased by that. It's a very well researched well documented gangster book. That can be the blurb. Well, you know, that's not necessarily a winning blurb. But there's a lot of there's a lot. There's a lot of celebrities you got. Everyone from Desi Arnaz did to lose a bankhead and Joe DiMaggio. There is no sex scene, though in it. That is the one thing I have no single scene like a romance novel because, well, because I am historian and nobody provided one for me to put in. And I think we'll just all have to use our imagination. Well, I'm not going to end with it. It's a sex free. It's not exactly sex. It's a sex scene. There you are. All right. We'll leave listeners to discover exactly how much sex is in this book on our own. How's that? Anyone who wants to pick up the book, I am sure you will find plenty to shock you. There we go. "To him and to say that I am afraid I'm about Lucy Javier Bardem didn't grow up watching I love Lucy in Spain but he told us he watched nearly every episode to prepare for this role I was absolutely obsessed with with Rick and Ricardo and trying to get as close as his mother is in some energy and voice as I could So the real Desi Arnaz was a singer in a band leader Oh yes And I understand you took music lessons so that you could sing and play the Bongo Ah yes that's a very good actor would ever do when they ask you if you can write a horse who say yes if the DA say they ask you do you think me Man you shouldn't listen to me And then he comes a moment where say okay the job is yours and you go oh my God what do I do now A Philly's very exposing to singing song is one of the most scary things You not only had to sing you had to sing babalu Babalu yes which is a song that was not included in the first draft of the script because Adam Sorkin didn't want the answer who would play it to sing bubble loop because he thought he was way too challenging But when I saw the footage of this artist playing babalu I said is he straight Mark So can you still do babaloo I can I can do babalu if you give me a month You've said in interviews that you enjoy playing characters who are full of contradictions right I'm thinking of your role as a terrifying killer and No Country for Old Men or the small time criminal in the film beautiful What contradictions did you find with desserts I would pick up one that he was madly in love with his wife He worshiped his wife but also he was a man who was educated at a time and in a place where manhood has some very narrow definition in terms of a man has to be the man So the contradiction between how much he really wanted to be with her and how much he had darker and the life that he was doing when he was not with her is like two lives in one And I didn't know him I know a little bit his daughter Lucy which has been so helpful and so carrying and loving But I would say that I don't think that contract made him happy And ultimately was the reason why the marriage broke up I want to tap back into what you said about Lucy arnaz and how she helped you prepare for this role She provided some old home recordings of her parents and I would imagine these were some of the warmer moments in their relationship right That was like holding a treasure in your hands and that that itself is a lot of responsibility I mean when someone gives you the privacy the intimacy of their own family I play the recordings and I felt so close to him because I was into the living room Then I heard some recordings with him and some producers And you can tell that he was making sure that they understood that he was the boss Because even having the power that he had still was having to fight against some other worst racism the fact that he was a foreigner was always present Bob was saying that you are really the title character of the show because you.

"Brought to you by audible. If being the Ricardo's were just a movie about the insidious evil of the House un American activities committee and the Hollywood blacklist, it would be a bit of a yawn. But as the story of a marriage between two brilliant professionals, one of whom the man incidentally often took a back seat to his more dazzling partner, it feels breezily modern. Being the Ricardo's written and directed by Aaron Sorkin focuses on one significant week in the life of Lucille Ball, played here by Nicole Kidman and Desi Arnaz, Javier Bardem, but it's really a story about two people who, without knowing it, looked ahead to the future of men and women in America, a future of equality that still unfolding, but was even so largely unimaginable in the 1950s. The hit show ball and arnaz made together, I love Lucy, aired from 1951 to 1957 and was basically a half hour receptacle for delightfully ludicrous plots. Arnaz's Ricky was a famous band leader, his wife, balls Lucy, dreamed of being in show business and would try anything to break in much to Ricky's embarrassment. Their best friends, Fred and Ethel mertz, played by Vivian Vance and William Frawley on the show and rendered wonderfully here by Nina arianda and J. K. Simmons lived next door to their New York City apartment building. The comedy of I love Lucy might look broad today, but watching carefully reveals genius at work, ball with her vibrant mobile features in her complete willingness to fill a space with her sly kooky physicality is rightly lauded as one of the great comic actresses of her or just about any generation. But the Cuban born arnaz was the show's secret weapon, the handsome straight man, himself a beautiful caricature with bold, tell all eyebrows and a chilled martini glass smile whose own delicately calibrated timing reflected and magnified everything that was funny about his wife. With being the Ricardo's Sorkin strives to capture the show's behind the scenes mechanisms and tensions, including the way frawley and Vance graded on each other's nerves sometimes almost explosively, as well as balls casually cruel efforts to keep Vance a close friend in real life from losing too much weight all for the sake of the show. The clear subtext was that Lucy's character should be the thin one, while ethyl needed to be the heavier bestie, the one who looked more like most American women. But Sorkin being Sorkin, he can't help building a civic lesson around this story. The movie takes place during a single week just after hugely popular radio host Walter Winchell outed ball for her communist affiliation, despite the fact that she just testified to the House un American activities committee and being cleared. The accusation could have killed not just the show but ball's career. Being the Ricardo shows how arnaz took quick shrewd action and saved the day. There's nothing wrong exactly with using that framework to give a script some momentum, it's simply that the dynamic between arnaz and ball and between ball and the show's other stars is so fascinating by itself that the heavily in toned excoriation of the villainous house on American activities committee feels superfluous. Sorkin details with light brush strokes, the.

"It's titled being the Ricardo's taking us behind the scenes of I love Lucy Film critic Christian toto says this morning the movie focuses on chaos that was going on behind the scenes Turns out the marriage between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz is on the rocks and there's another confrontation behind the scenes that could really end the show itself This is from writer director Aaron Sorkin who's known for his really snappy smart dialog and you get plenty of that here Of course Nicole Kidman is outstanding as Lucille Ball and it's one of the kind of performances that really transforms her into this character we've known for years and years The problem with this story is that sometimes it leans a little too heavily on nostalgia We do see some classic scenes recreated and it's fun at times but there's more dramatic heft here that isn't fully explored And that's a bit frustrating So I think if you enjoy the classic show you will appreciate this If you're looking for fine drama you'll get some satisfaction but I think given the source material it could have been even better You also got to look at don't look up a satire from Netflix with a lot of star power We have Leonardo DiCaprio Jennifer Lawrence Meryl Streep a real amazing cast assembled here to tell a story that is this terrible look at the end of the world but really kind of talks about climate change and how our inaction regarding that could have catastrophic consequences The story itself is too scattershot It's too blunt at times and they're just aren't enough big laughs to sustain a movie that goes well past the two hour mark Now some of the targets are hit and hit directly including social media and have distractedly all become these days God forbid there was a crisis of catastrophic proportions Would we be able to pay attention long enough to see if we can solve the crisis in play The director of the film is Adam McKay who's given us the big short and vice and sometimes he's just two one sided in his approach to satire and the characters here don't really land like they should despite that great cast Don't look up as smart and interesting at times and then frustrating as well The best jokes are front loaded and after why thinking oh if the end of the world is coming.

"You've got split into. That's as close as i will ever get to desi arnez voice because it has been announced that aaron sorkin is making a lucille ball and desi arnez bio pic starring. Nicole kidman and javier bardem. I guess this is amazing but also it seems kind of terrible as as ideas go. What was your reaction to this news. My first reaction is. I'm just glad that nicole kidman and gets to have a little bit of just the tiniest bit of fine. Did you ever happened to catch the prom. Was the ryan murphy. Film version of a broadway musical speaking of things. We'll be discussing later on this podcast. I sure did. And i was not a fan nor was i. The only thing that i could say is like when they let nicole kidman do something which was very rare in this. She seemed to be having the time of her life and she was like. I don't have to have a breakdown. Like on a courtroom stand and talk about like really grim things while being filmed for once. And i'm flying free and so you know i assume this. Is i think this project in one form or another. I think errands has been trying to do this for a while. If you google. They're kind of like mentions of this project. Bopping around and i think it's about their marriage and working relationship presumably their ups and downs in it. Because it's a marriage. So i don't think it'll all be sunshine and roses for her but at least you'll get to do comedy. Yeah i think that's right on the one hand. We have seen her do comedy a few times in the past perhaps most notoriously in bewitched your icon nora ephron i kind of interesting but kind of bungled but kind of notable movie. What were you gonna say not. Everything works in not everything works. I'll say next week we're going to talk about one division. And i think the bewitched conversation and the idea of using bewitched as a satirical vehicle into another story is new again so as usual ephron ahead of the curve there nevertheless nicole kidman i. Is she gifted comic actress. I don't know maybe she doesn't have to be for this obviously lucille ball. Desi arnez their story as showbiz. Pioneers is not just a comic story. There's there's a lot of high drama that's place there. The other thing. I thought of when i read this news was that one of aaron sorkin non adapted works to to screen is something called the farnsworth invention which is about essentially the creation of the tv by filo farnsworth and we know that the origins of television and the origins of entertainment are quite important. Taryn sorkin and to the kinds of stories. He's he's often telling stories about people at the forefront of a new life changing kind of technology or culture. We've seen it with steve jobs. We've seen it with moneyball. We've seen it with the social network. He loves to find pioneers and tell their stories. And there's no doubt that. And lucy were major pioneers and tv. So you know. Of course we're going to watch it and devote six to twelve episodes about this on our show. And i'm sure it'll be good slash not good.

But also, I bet Britney is very pleasant and very polite to her servers and gives big tips all the time. She was the house, though, right? I mean, if you want this you up that she leave the house. Oh, God. She goes on beautiful Hawaiian vacation is spinning in circles. Washington ordering drinks dancing. Yeah, I've never interviewed Kristina. But we have interviewed Britney and she was very nice. She shy but she was very nice. I think they had her on a bad day. Yeah, yeah, That's also I don't like these stories because people do have bad days. But this girl goes by the clumsy traveler. She claims that she spent years in the service industry in l A. Um, if we want to believe her says her husband still does. That's who she was talking about in the clip. Um, I can't tell you you are. You brought this up this morning to Fred. How many people sent me this story? S O. Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in talks to play iconic Hollywood couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in the upcoming film Being The Ricardos Directed by Aaron Sorkin. The movie will take place during a production week on the set of I Love Lucy, starting with a Monday table, read through an audience shoot on Friday. We'll also show Lucy and Desi facing some challenges that could end their careers and marriage. Spoiler alert didn't end well. The production, sir. Did you know? I think I heard something about that. I don't look it up. If you wanna be surprised they don't have a day, obviously, because the Rhona is taking over all you like them. Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball, so I've been asked us a lot. I think it's better than Debra Messing. I can kind of see it now that I'm thinking about it. So Debra Messing I think she plays her lot. She plays a caricature of Lucy kind of bothers me. I feel like she's doing an impression of her more than Yeah, channeling her and Lucy was so much more than just going, you know, like she was the first woman to owner on production couple like she had so many layers, so there was some depth there and so it deserves like actual.

"Tell your dealer dollar to alert. All right, Holly, What do you got for a son? All right, well, let's circle back to a story that we talked about in the four o'clock dirt alert. Update. That's this casting news. That nuke that Nicole Kidman and Javi er Bird damn are in talks to play Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, respectively in this new project by Aaron Sorkin called Being the Ricardos Now I was like, Oh, we've talked about this project before, and Kate Blanchard Was supposed to play Lucille Ball in this movie. Do you remember that casting news? We were that excited about that? It seems weird. Yes, it certainly does. You are having a natural reaction to this casting news. So this film is going to follow Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz during the week production on I Love Lucy. So they're starting on Monday tape, Monday's table read. Going to the live studio audience that happens on Friday evenings. That's kind of house it comes or filmed, and it has been for the past 70 years. So lots of people are kind of weirded out by this casting news because it's what I don't think of Nicole Kidman of being a comedian and Javier Bardem. His head is too large for Ricky Ricardo. Does you know my casting in? This is perfect. Is Debra Messing? Mark Unzue lows. Oh, lot of being bada boom. No interesting. I mean, she would be perfect to play Daria's. She's a comedian. I don't think of Nicole is really being a comedic actress. I'm sure she can, but that's wrong, heavier burden them. His head is just too large bag to play Burkey. It is too big. I like my casting better. Oh, well, it kind of reminds me Remember when Nicole Kidman Starred in the film Bewitched. Yes, that movie was messy. Yes, you couldn't decide what it wanted to be. But that, like she was in the stuff for a great run a year earlier was one who's proven to do comedy Endeavor messing and one of the last will and Grace. Oh, God. They did a very funny thing. Toe Lucille Ball and she was so she's so Perfect. Yeah, well, what's interesting, too, is that well? Going down the dramatic rabbit hole. I recently watched an old Johnny Carson with Lucille Ball sitting on the couch in the seventies. And there is a sharpness about Lucy a ball when she's off camera That will be really interesting to see whether or not Nicole Kidman can capture that. I hope they find out in the table read. This is not a good cast Anything I think right now, But Nicole Kidman who we love. Yeah, guess right. She's kind of, um Apart. Apart whore. She has too many parts. She gets all the good parts, she said. Too many things can we just have a break? Is that just terrible that I just said that I just feel like she gets every part. She does get a lot of good ones. I mean, Not to share the love was someone else? Well, Speaking of Nicole Kidman, if you are Nicole Kidman fan, I will recommend the latest episode of the Podcast WTF with Marc Maron because she is sitting down with Marc Maron and doing a long form interview. And one of the things I listen to part of it this morning. But one of the things that she talks about is how she becomes the characters that she's playing in a sense, and she talked about this. On her latest role in the show the undoing, she said. It kind of happened where I just was suddenly in this place of there was this disquiet nous to my personality, she said. I was an easy and there was duress on who I Woz. When we said this about big little lies, too, is that shall out so immersed in the in the thing and that's abused woman and how it was so hard to go is amazing. It's Celeste. She she just method but again the same time. I just feel like Adam Sorkin probably looks down his nose at Debra Messing and Mark Consuelo. Because quote unquote from TV. I'm just saying, Sure, sure, that's that is a good analysis of that casting news. Did you guys talk about Army hammers? Alleged cannibalism was just gonna ask you that I'm so glad you brought. This is looking at something on that. Okay, well, wonderful. So Armie Hammer has the Internet talking. After some graphic Diem's allegedly from Armie Hammer surfaced online over the weekend, so several on verified private messages were posted online that were claimed to be from Armie Hammer. The message is included accounts of sexual acts and other fantasies with the message reading quote. I need to drink your blood quote. Why the distance now, in another threat in these messages, Armie Hammer allegedly wrote quote. You're my angel. You're made to save me. Okay. So here know, this could be just like a completely goofy PR sent gone wrong because this is happening. It's a wild rumor that Army is going to play the Robert Wagner part in a remake of the very terrible 1960. Kind of food. Tennessee Williams movie called all the fine young cannibals. Okay, which start Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner? And that, you know, that's how the band fine Young cannibals got their name and that he's is in talks to be starring in this and people are out there just playing well, I don't know if the I don't know, but that if you know anything like that is considered one of the worst flops. Lot movies with star people in it, right, Ali? Well, yeah, because it's one of those where Hollywood was in transition from the studio system toe like New Hollywood and in between. It's like what we still have These guys, these hot people like Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood on contract, But what do we do with George Hamilton? Within it Pro. Bailey was a singer that features the immortal line said by Robert regular the wood in a fake Southern accent. If I can't have you, then I want to hurt you and I will. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, And so whether you know any of Madonna's considering directing this thing that I played made co star No, I might be making that up. Okay, stop because that is just too much anyway, So there that's kind of or some people are saying that, you know. If these leaked tweets really are his or if it's something taken out of context regarding this remake, which I don't know. Sure, Well, the news is saying that they haven't confirmed the authenticity. But the poster said, I admit it's all fake, but it funny what it was funny, wasn't it? But here's thing. If you follow the blind item gossip about Armie Hammer this guy he's.
