Where Is Merrick Garland?

"Where is Merrick Garland? You would think that after you raid a former president's home that you would at least get a press release, you'd think that the DoJ would mention this in passing silence, nothing. You go to justice dot gov, they have this Justice Department establishes reproductive rights task force. Justice dot gov, they have clicks of links of COVID-19 relief fraud scheme. Massachusetts construction company owner indicted for tax crimes. Okay. Nothing about the raid of a president, to give an idea of how extraordinary this raid was, it was a 9 and a half hour occupation, including over 30 agents, equivalent equivalent of a 180 man hours where Trump's staff were literally kicked out of Mar-a-Lago and now we're just waiting waiting and anticipation, where is Merrick Garland? And sun tzu's art of war, there's a great quote that says 1 may know the condition of a whole army from the behavior of a single man. Now, the silence is something I didn't anticipate. The raid surprised me to some extent. The timing of it. But generally, when I thought about it, we predicted here on this program. But Merrick Garland being the attorney general of the United States owes the country, hey, how did this happen exactly? What was the reason for it? Why could you have not issued a subpoena? Why a raid? Just everyone understands a raid is only necessary if you believe a crime is currently being committed or property is about to be destructive. Donald Trump was not even at Mar-a-Lago.

Pelosi to March Democrats Off Cliff With Inflation Bill Vote

"If we go back and again, you're a PhD. So you may not know much about the Declaration of Independence. But in the Declaration of Independence, there's the glorious language we know, but then Jefferson laid out what is an actual indictment of George the third. One of the particulars is they have sent out armies of officials to eat up our wealth. And that I just think 87,000 IRS agent. So your friends who are Democrats. And I know you've got some friends who are Democrat. I was talking to one last night. My college roommate, a longtime democratic friend saying, you know, Democrats are bent on self destruct, Elaine luria can not win reelection. Having cut the defense budget by inflation alone and having 87,000 IRS agents, she got a vote for that this week. Every Democrat in a tough district is being forced to vote on the IRS expansion act. Will any of them defect well because they did this for Henry waxman ten years ago. They voted for his idiotic climate bill then and now they're going to vote for climate bill that helps people in our income bracket by EVs. Do you think they're actually going to do that 9 weeks before an election? Pelosi seems to be marching them off the cliff right now. And even the New York Democrats and the other salt state Democrats who drew a line in the sand and said, we're not going to vote. Would you explain that? Again, we got steelers fans listening and they're not on peyote. So you could explain salt. Salt states. The state and local income tax state and local tax deduction, something we capped or effectively got rid of depending on what state you live in in the tax cuts and job with the intent of stopping the subsidization of high tax progressive states. Obviously all the members from high tax progressive states objected to that. And so they said, well, we want to eliminate that provision, go back to the status quo pre-tax cuts and jobs act. But even the moderate members who drew that line in the sand have now caved a speaker Pelosi. So with the possible exception of maybe Jared golden, I think she's going to have all her members vote for this. Come Friday,

The Conservative Army's Moral Duty

"I am debating what to begin with. I'll tell you why. I have to laugh. Because my only alternative is to cry. So much of what there is to talk to you about. Is awful. It's one awful story after another, but you have a moral obligation to be aware of it. You have to see yourself if you love liberty and you love this country and your love truth. And therefore you're not a leftist. You might be a liberal. But you're most likely conservative. If you love all of those three things, then you have to think of yourself as a member of an army and you don't leave because you have opposition. That's what war is about.

Why Did Meghan McCain Block Todd Starnes on Twitter?

"Chad McCain was a conservative. How dare you? Oh, really? Well, why would he hire a leftist like Steve Schmidt to run his campaign? Steve Steve Schmidt, the founding member of The Lincoln Project, a former McCain campaign manager. Also, a political analyst for MSD and C? That's exhibit a let's talk about exhibit B Nicole Wallace. A former senior campaign adviser, she was the one who handled Sarah Palin. She was the one responsible for literally bludgeoning Palin in the back with a political knife. And what is she doing now? She's one of the lady host on MSD and C. But the real reason she blocked me is because you see, we have a mind like a steel trap. Here at the Todd stern's radio program, ladies. So we don't forget anything here. And that's why she blocked me. You see, misses Dominic, Meghan McCain. Misses Dominick, she blocked me because I reminded the nation about her daddy's most egregious sin. Would he betrayed every single one of us. He had the power in his hands to kill ObamaCare. And while the cameras were rolling on C-SPAN, what did he do? He looked up at that C-SPAN camera, and he put his, he put his hand in the air. With his thumb exposed, and then he did the big thumbs down. A big blank you to America. That's what he did. All I was doing was asking misses Dominic to explain her daddy's political strategy. But you see, this is what the establishment thinks about all of us. You vote for Donald Trump, you're an irredeemable deplorable. You vote for Donald Trump, you're a Neanderthal.

Meghan McCain Calls MAGA Conservatives 'Neanderthals'

"So here's misses Dominick. I want to read to you what she wrote on her Twitter account. Hell of a strategy to whatever the majority voting hell of a strategy to win over the majority voting block of Arizona independence in a general election. Now, she would have stopped there, that would have been fine. It was a valid point. She's talking about, we've got to unite the Republicans in Arizona, right? Then she turns around and she does exactly what she's accusing Carrie Lake of doing. Here's what misses Dominic Meghan McCain said. I know she thinks she's governor already. But you have to win over more people than just cpac, maga Neanderthals to actually win a general election. So misses Dominic pulled a Hillary Clinton, you know, the basket of irredeemable deplorables. And she calls all of you people out there, all you conservatives maga Neanderthals. Now I just want to say something. It's offensive that she would call call people like you and me. Those kinds of words. But I'm not surprised, because she's a nasty person. Her father was a nasty man. Yes, I know. We're not talking about his wartime service. We're talking about his political service. I honor everyone who serves in our military. But that doesn't give John McCain a pass for all of the things he said and did to hurt conservatives. And so I pointed out, she was talking about strategy. And I just asked Meghan McCain, what was her strategy? What was her daddy's strategy? When he betrayed Republicans and conservatives on the ObamaCare repeal. And she blocked me. She didn't even have the guts. She didn't have the courage to even answer the question. It wasn't

So What Has Meghan McCain Actually Done?

"McCain is a very mean, very unhappy, very mean spirited person, and I knew this working I didn't work directly with her at Fox, but I heard the stories. It's just not she's not a very pleasant person. And that comes across on TV. You saw that. Remember when remember when she was on what the view with the squawking magpies? She's not a very sympathetic character. And the reason why is, what is she done? Aside from being the offspring of the late senator John McCain, what has she done? I don't think she's done that much. She got married to Ben Dominique, who is the, what the founder of the federalist or one of those conservative things. And I got a lot of blowback because I called her in my peace grace maker. I called her misses dominance. I didn't call her mega McCain. I was just trying to be polite and cordial. Oof. Misses Dominic. So anyway, you have Carrie Lake and she's out there saying that she put a stake through the heart of the McCain machine. What is she talking about there? Well, she's talking about the establishment. She's talking about these establishment Republicans, who hate conservatives, and every time they get elected, they turn their backs on conservatives. But they embrace conservatives during the election cycle because the establishment guys can't get elected without our votes. That's what Kerry Lake was trying to say.

Sen. Ted Cruz: The American People Don't Want 87,000 New IRS Agents

"Here's senator Ted Cruz over the weekend. Madam president, there are a lot of bad things in this bill, but fewer worse than the proposal by Democrats in this bill to double the size of the IRS and create 87,000 new IRS agents. I guarantee you citizens and every one of our states, if you ask them, what do they want? They don't want 87,000 new IRS agents. And they're not being created to audit billionaires or giant corporations. They're being created to audit you. The House ways and means committee, the minorities put out an estimate that under this bill, there will be 1.2 million new audits per year with over 700,000 of those new audits falling on taxpayers making $75,000 or less. I believe personally we should abolish the IRS, but at a minimum we shouldn't make the IRS larger than The Pentagon, the State Department, the FBI, and the border patrol all combined. That's what the Democrats are proposing here. It is a terrible idea. If you don't want 87,000 new IRS agents, vote yes. Good for you. Senator Cruz. Unfortunately, elections have consequences. And the Republicans, they just didn't have the votes. They don't have the votes in the House of Representatives. So we're about to get 87,000 more IRS agents, and they're coming after all of us. That's who they're coming after. They're coming after you conservatives. They're coming after you, Christians. That's what's going to happen. Oh,

Barack Obama Was the First President to Weaponize the IRS

"Back to the early days of the Obama administration, you had the Tea Party rising up. Remember that the Tea Party rose up you had these this grassroots effort to try and defeat the ObamaCare law. And Obama summoned Lois learner to The White House and told her to go after all of these Tea Party groups to start investigating these people. And they did. Barack Obama was the first president to weaponize the Internal Revenue Service. I was working at Fox News channel at the time. I had switched over by then I had switched over and I was a commentator, so I was they were paying me for my opinion at Fox. And one day I get a letter from the Internal Revenue Service. And they said, you are going to be audited. First time in my life that I had faced an Internal Revenue Service audit. And the next year I got another audit. And so I went to, I went to the folks, the powers that be at Fox News, and I said, hey, look, you know, what's going on here? Can you guys help me out? Because when you get audited, what do you have to do? Well, you have to go out and hire an accountant. Got to get yourself an attorney. You don't want to be, you don't want to be facing off against the IRS by yourself. So your fork and over a lot of money. To try and work all of this out. And so I asked Fox, what's going on here? And they said, get in line, pal. They're coming after all of us. So not only were they going after the Tea Party groups, they were also going after conservative journalist. During the Obama years, I was audited three times. Three times. Cleared every single time. But it cost me time, it cost me effort. It cost me money. It cost me aggravation.

Dems' Inflation Reduction Act Will Double the Size of the IRS

"This is all going to reduce inflation. It's not it's going to blow up the economy. And folks, if we're not careful, we could be talking about something worse than a recession here. So anyway, a $700 billion in new spit in new taxes, 400 billion dollars in new spending. We're setting a lot more money over to Ukraine, but the bigger concern I have is tucked away in the legislation where and it's going to pass the House of Representatives. Biden's going to sign it at all. There's just no way around that. But anyway, we've got Ted Cruz out there and Ted Cruz was sounding the alarm. Ted Cruz was warning us that this in fact was a danger to law abiding middle class small business owners of America. So the IRS, as far as we can tell, they're going to be given permission to hire 87,000 new agents. That's going to double the size of the IRS. And what do you think they're going to be doing here, folks? They're going to be coming after you and me. They're going to be coming. That's why they wanted access to our bank accounts. They want to come after you the law abiding, hardworking taxpayers of America. Now, again, 87,000 IRS agents, they're going to double the size of the IRS. By the time they get finished, they're going to be larger now. You listen to this, we're going to put this in perspective for you. 87,000 additional agents makes the IRS larger than the State Department. The Pentagon, the FBI and border patrol combined. So what does that tell you about the direction of this administration?

Bernie Sanders's Economic Advisor Wants to Keep Printing Money

"Is no shock that The New Yorker ran a piece, August 2019, titled The Economist who believes the government should just print more money. Stephanie kelton, a senior economic adviser to Bernie Sanders and Professor of economics and public policy at stony brook university, is popular in a way that economists almost definitionally are not. Filmmakers trail her with cameras. She goes on international speaking tours. And once it sold out a basketball arena in Italy, kelton is the foremost evangelist of a fringe economic movement called modern monetary theory, which argues in part that the government should pay for programs requiring big spending like the Green New Deal simply by printing more money. This is a polarizing idea. This spring at kelton spoke at The Wall Street Journal's future of everything festival on the day as a journal staffer introduced kelton as an economist with an idea that will either solve the world's problems or send it into ruin. She made a face and then walked on stage. So what exactly does she say? Well, adherents of MMT imagine a world built on MMT principles in which the government provides guaranteed jobs, healthcare affordable college, launches clean infrastructure projects to replace crumbling highways airports and bridges. Kelton, who does at least 5 interviews per week, plus lectures speaking gigs in conferences, is more than anyone else responsible for building MMT's digital army. So what exactly is MMT? Well, it means that we just spend money, and don't worry about it.

What's the Connection Between Biden, Ukraine & the Secret Labs?

"Early on, we were told that there were these laboratories that everybody was very concerned about. And there's been a lot of speculation about those laboratories what they were doing and why the United States needed to go into Ukraine to secure those laboratories. Some people are saying it had to do with the China virus and it very well may be. I do not know. But we do know this that the United States is willing to risk American lives and treasure to protect those labs, so something important was happening inside those laboratories. The other part of it go it predates even the Trump administration where you have Joe Biden and his son doing all sorts of very nefarious business transactions with the Ukrainians. We've known for well over a decade that there has been great corruption within the Ukrainian government. But they've all decided to take a blind eye at that. Because there's something else going on here. Now, do we care about Ukraine? I don't think we do. I think Biden wants us involved in a shooting war with the Russians and the question is why. And it's really not Biden. It's whoever is pulling the strings, which would be Susan Rice a Barak Hussein Obama. But I want to go on to the next line here of this very disturbing story out of the New York times. Meanwhile, senior U.S. officials still believe that Putin is quite prepared to consider using a small nuclear weapon against Ukraine if he sees his army facing certain defeat. In short, this Ukraine war is so not over. So not stable, so not without dangerous surprises that can pop out on any given day.

Jack Posobiec and Charlie Unpack Nancy Pelosi's Taiwan Visit

"There's a lot to unpack what's what's happening there, but the breaking news, Nancy Pelosi has just landed. She's a scientist that's right. Taiwan and I'm very torn on this Jack. So maybe you can help get me clarity and with it the audience, which is I'm no fan of the Chinese Communist Party. I think that our focus should be on the CCP, unlike how our focus is on Vladimir Putin in Russia. Some people say, well, Nancy Pelosi is showing this big show of strength by going to Taiwan. Other people say that, you know, we are unnecessarily agitating the Chinese Communist Party, which I'm torn and I'm torn for the following reasons. Not for political reasons. We know why Pelosi is going. I think she's just trying to get a midterm boost for the Democrat party. Let's also because it's a nice feather in her cap for the end of her career. And of her career and I also she's an asset of the Chinese Communist Party. A 100%. So I'm not even talking about the Pelosi thing. I'm torn in the sense of, is this a good geopolitical idea? Whether if it was Pelosi or whether it was Paul Ryan or whether it was Boehner or McCarthy or gingrich, is it a good idea to Pompeo to Taiwan or who? Pompeo talked about. I don't know if he went, but I know he tweeted that he would try to accompany Pelosi on this trip. So I don't know. You're the expert. So Jack, is this a good idea or a bad idea? Nancy Pelosi in Taiwan. Forget the politics of it. Let's pretend it's not Pelosi, which is obviously so nakedly partisan and political, of which I have no respect for her. Well, here's generally geopolitically. Well, no, here's the thing. If you're looking at geopolitically, if you want to help the people of Taiwan, you want to help the law by Jing the common man and women of China. Where's Pelosi on the tariffs? Where's Pelosi on understanding the economic leverage? Because that's the only real way that we're ever going to be able to achieve any movement beyond the status quo here because unless you stop the free flow of western capital to the CCP, nothing will ever change in China will absolutely the CCP controlled PLA. People's Liberation Army will absolutely clearly have a military advantage in the area. There's no question president Trump was very clear about this as well. That should kinetic conflict kick off. I mean, it would be bloody. It would be devastating. The entire island would be on fire.

Pelosi Trip to Taiwan Tests China’s Appetite for Confrontation

"By far the most powerful country in the world in military terms. Without any doubt. But with a home court advantage off China's coast, China has put massive resources into anti fit missiles interceptors and submarines precisely in order to be able to kill an American fleet in proximity to their coast. Their land army is terrible, peel of people's liberation armies, maybe the worst land army in the world. But their missile corps is excellent. And the studies from the air force and the Rand corporation and the office of net assessment, which I used to do some work for a Pentagon. Say that those missiles are extremely good. Now, you can argue about whether you contract moving the ship 800 miles off the coast if it's maneuvering. Can you really hit it well? The Ukrainians managed to sink the Russian flagship, the Moscow, hundred kilometers off their coast and at the Ukrainians can do it the Chinese who, after all, did put a space landing craft on The Dark Side of the Moon, probably could be able to do it. So the risk of a kinetic engagement against Chinese missiles and the possible loss of a carrier with 8000 American sailors and all of our prestige, as you say, is not a risk that we want to take. "Jenna, let's start this off a little bit for folks to who may not know you. And I know that might be hard to believe for a lot of quotes, but some may not. How did you, when you first went in, you were growing up and he went into the military and you've been in, you were in a long time. You were 30 something years, you came in. Do you came in right at the end of Vietnam or was it still Vietnam still going on? Where were you at in that process? Yeah, I came in and December of 1970. And Vietnam was still going on and as a matter of fact, I eventually wound up spending about three months there in Vietnam in 1972 all the way up to the ceasefire in 73, and then I came home. Okay. So you saw the ending there in some of that fallout and I'm sure that brought back a lot of issues we'll get to later with this Afghanistan issue that we just saw in this past year, so it was just the very frustration of a lot that was going on during that time. Yeah, it was. It was not a good time for the military and general, but certainly for the army. And the reason was that we had a lot of conscripts in the military. This was an army that was made up mostly of people that had been drafted and they did not want to be in the military and they didn't want to be in Vietnam and as a result of that. The army had a lot of drug problems, racial problems and different types of problems. Family espousal abuse, family problems and so I came in and that period and it was not what I expected, but I also realized very early that we had a lot of work to do and I think over the years with good leadership, we turned that all around.

"Monday. The second of April seventeen seventeen thirty nine marked a significant day in the history of Christianity and it was on that day that John Wesley finally abandoned his reticence to preach outside the church and at King's Wood in Bristol. He took to open air. Evangelism Wesley's decision Asian brought him face to face with the common people and ignited a revival. The likes of which this country has never seen before. I may never see again regarding not great day. Wesley wrote in his diary. These words at four in the afternoon I submitted to be more vile. I love that. That's crazy man. I submitted to be more vile and proclaimed in the highways the glad tidings of salvation speaking from a little eminence in underground adjoining to the city to about out three thousand people the Scripture on which I spoke with this the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor hair. Sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives recovery of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised to proclaim the acceptable year of the lawsuit when Wesley finally abandoned the church approach to go and preach to the world to preach to the common people the portion of scripture that he chose to preach on. Was this passage that we're looking at this receiving subsequent history of course records that John Wesley lived out about text bringing the Gospel to the disenfranchised and to the needy masses of this country. Again if you know anything about ovation on me you know that the Salvation Army is as a grandchild of John Wesley. He's in our records he's in our DNA in the early days. At least our battle cry was for all the world in our early days offices went and appointed to call. They were appointed pointed to towns and they were that focus on those in spiritual and physical and emotional need in that community not not just on their congregation. So what's changed. Jesus still has that worldwide mission not sense of being for the world for our community not exclusively for Christians uh-huh and for the church. The question is if Jesus does do we whereas our our focus. It's lovely to come together. It's lovely to care and love each other as we do here to feel as if we're family. I'm we should never lose that. But Jesus came for those outside the family that should be why basingstoke core is here to we exist not for ourselves but for those outside of our doors for some reason which perhaps we will never fully understand this this side of heaven. Jesus is counting on us to get out there in the world and prepare the way for him in the way that we look and act like like him around those we spend our lives with our mission is an extension of Jesus mission. Our Holiness is a mobile holiness. It's not something we leave the doors when we leave here this evening we take it with us. It's a holiness cleanest that he's lived anywhere and everywhere. So ask yourself this evening. Do you have a heart for the world. Do you still believe that we can win. The world for Jesus could basingstoke being stoke core win basingstoke for Jesus the answer is only in Holy Spirit power and only if we consistently focus on rescuing the perishing around us. We must love them. We must care for them. We must ache for them. We must hurt for them. We must weep for them. "Let's pray together. Ebony father as we open your word this evening we ask you to speak to Louis to challenge US where we need challenging to require us to help win the weld. It's for Jesus to nourish US and help us to live for you in this coming week. We pray these prayers is in your name over the last couple of weeks. We have looked at this. This three part series all about change that horrible seaward that lots of don't like particularly in this modern autumn world where everything seems to change every five minutes but what we've learned over the last couple of weeks. I hope is that God wants Change Zhou a few weeks ago. We thought about changing ourselves last week we thought about changing now call and this evening. We think that it's time them to change the World Catherine booth once wrote if we are back to better the future we must disturb the present if we to better the future. We must disturb the president. God wants changing our lives in our core on in the world around around us. And what he needs us to be is ever-growing ever-changing disciples who are his change agents in the world this evening. We're thinking about winning the world for Jesus that comes from the Great Commission. We Find Great Commission. Matthew Chapter Twenty Eight Verses Eighteen to twenty twenty where Jesus comes to his disciples and says all Party and Heaven and on Earth has been given to me go there for a make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I've commanded you and behold I am with you always to the end of the age. Jesus commanded his disciples and by extension his checks including ourselves to go and make disciples of all all nations to win the world for Jesus. Now if you know anything about the Salvation Army's history and I guess that most of you know in quite a bit about the salvation history then you know that. Our founders William and Catherine booth and their peers those Christian mission and in the Salvation Army in his early day early days took that great commission very very seriously they took it on. They run with it. So when the Christian mission changed its name to the Salvation Army in eighteen. Seventy eight William Booth who had become the general of the Salvation Army wrote in the Christian Mission magazine. These words the Christian mission has met in Congress to make war. It is organized the Salvation Army to carry the blood of Christ and the fire of the howdy ghost into every corner of the world. That's what he thought. The Salvation Army's purpose was to carry the blood of Christ and the fire of the holy. Any ghost into every corner of the world and Catherine Booth wrote around about the same time the decree has gone forth. Both the kingdoms of this world should become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ and he show rain. Who's right it is from the river to the ends of the Earth? We we shall win. It is only a question of time and then she wrote. I believe that this movement is to inaugurate the Great Final Final Conquest of our Lord. Jesus Christ she truly believed that the Salvation Army was going to be the movement inaugurated the Great Final Conquest of our Lord. Jesus Christ what do you think about that one on exactly. Why not because we we may say well? Let's Victorian arrogance to say that this movement is the one to inaugurate the Great Final Conquest of our Lord. Jesus Christ but they really believed it. They really believe there and from this conviction that they would be the ones that would inaugurate this great final conquest of our Lord. Oh Jesus Christ the growth of the Salvation Army mission in the world grew at breath taking speed and it only grew with that breath taking speed because God was with them and they truly believed that this was what was going to happen that they really would take Jesus easiest on his blood and fire the hardy ghost into every corner of the world but they would win the world for Jesus. How could they have that kind of conviction? How could they have that kind of confidence? Will they believed in God. He wanted to win the world for himself. John Three Sixteen says God so loved the world. It doesn't say for God also love Christians. For God's love the Church for God so loved some people and not others says for God so loved the world that he gave gave his only son whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. They knew that God's mission was for the world not just for the church which not just for the Salvation Army not just the Christians and that Jesus lived and died for the world. Not just for you you and for me. How did they know that? Because Jesus Christ said that throughout his ministry on this evening we're we're looking at the words that he said at the beginning of his mystery his mission and ministry. I was more difficult to saying. I thought I'll try that again this evening. We're looking at the words that he said at the beginning of his mission and Ministry Luke Chapter Four if you want to turn to do it in your Bibles Luke four verses fourteen to thirty and that's on page ten thirty one of our call bibles and if you remember to bring your copy of Grapevine and you'll you'll find some notes on the page to help you as we read these words together. So barrels can income and read Luke Chapter Four Verses Fourteen to thirty Jesus Return to Galilee in the power of the spirit. A news about tim spread throughout the whole countryside. "How much has changed in our lifetimes. That Moore has changed in the last fifty years and has changed in the thousand years before that pace of change seems to be getting quicker and quicker. Do you ever get tired of the pace of change. Do you ever think to yourself what I could just do it. Getting off the world for a moment and catching up catching my breath and catching up a little bit. Ah The pace of change today can make us feel like if everything's changing. Almost nothing standing still is moving at a faster. Doing foster pacing the prevailing culture of today is that we want bigger and better for me and for mine. Well it's our response. What's the salvation is response? Sometimes I think that salvation chaumet coal not this one of course their responses to retreat from the world to hide in citadels and to await. Jesus turn and let the change go on outside. There are some Salvation Army Corps who've become fortresses against against change inside of those core. They avoid the change. That's going on in the world and so those places has become places where nothing ever changes and woe betide the officer ever turns up and says what about moving the piano or a few chairs or how about if we change the times of the meetings. What about worship Band Catherine booth one of our founders said if we ought to better the future we must disturb the president if we are to better the future we must disturb the present and you know what she was only following God God and all of that because the Bible makes it clear that God wants change in Philippians chapter one verse six? Paul says I'm sure if this this that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of. Jesus Christ I want. That sounds like change good work. That's big begun in us. But that will keep changing and transforming US until it's completed on the day of Jesus Christ and inefficient chapter one verse nine to ten. Paul says is the golden makes known to us the mystery of his will according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of all time to unite all things things in him things in heaven and things on earth in other words the whole universe is moving towards being united in Christ all things in heaven and all things asks on earth that's why the world is always changing. God wants change in our lives. He wants changing our core and he wants to change in the world around us but for that he needs ever-growing ever-changing disciples. You are God's change agents then in the world around us. We're going to think about that in the context of our passage this evening from Luke Chapter Ten Verses Twenty five to thirty seven is a very well known. Passage is the story of the Good Samaritan but I think it has something to say to us about the change that God wants in ourselves. Let's listen to these words.

"All his people precious in the sight of the Lord is his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant. Lord I serve you justice my mother other did you have freed me from my chains. I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord I will fulfill my vows to Lord in the presence of all his people in the courts of the House of the Lord in your midst Jerusalem Prize slowed. So there's a word word a name for God that is specifically translated as the Lord in this psalm in the RV translation. And if you look at the first four in the complete Jewish Bible we can see it clearly there but I called on the name of Adjani. Please add an I save me. That's the word the name for God and deny that is translated as the Lord in this song. It's a title of God and it talks. If God as director and Judge Director of the world and judge of his people the word at an ice speaks of God directing and controlling human actions by his word through the Bible through his spirit and his providence serves God director and Judge I don. I provides his laws in the Bible as guidelines for the ways days in which we should live our lives the Bible also reveals God to us he reveals we are anti reveals who reveals. Who got is what the Bible reveals to us is that we are the government? We are not the governor's as we are the government and Adonisi. God is the governor because we recognize all this from our second article of faith breath which as we know reads. We believe that there is only one. God who is infinitely perfect the creator preserve and governor. I Don I of own things and he was the only proper object of religious worship. But I don't know about you when we think of God's is being governor and judge we might well think of as a puppet master who controls everything and move things around on a board or however else you want to think about it but I don. I isn't. That kind of governor. Isn't that puppet master who simply directs human and actions like somewhat moving pieces around a Chesterton. Chessboard what this Psalm. What the Bible altogether reveals to us? Is that our governor at an eye. Our God is an intensely personal dot. He longs to be in relationship with you and we've made he's interested in each of us as an individual. The PSALMIST I says in verse two because he inclined his ear to me therefore I will call on him as long as I live. I Don I this governor. This judge turned his ear towards the PSALMIST. It's it's this idea of a personal relationship. With God's he was interested in his plight it was interested in what was going on in his life. At the time. God is my God he is your God. I'm not mean specific things for us because we are in relationship with adenoid with his God who longs to be our gods and who wants to be in relationship with us then we are never alone. Ev even when we feel at our loneliest we are never alone if you read Psalm. Twenty three for example. You will see that you are never alone. Let me read these words to you and see how many times you can pick out the personal pronouns. My I me see see how many times I mentioned some twenty three Assam David. The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside. I'd still waters he restores my soul. He leads me in parts of righteousness for his namesake sake. Even though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me me your Rod and your staff they comfort me you prepare a table before me in the presence of my Oy enemies you anoint. My head with oil my cup overflows surely goodness and mercy I see so follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever. That's a picture of an intensely personal. God who is in relationship with US yes. He's added I yes. He's the governor of the world. Yes he is the judge of his people but he's an intensely personal God and because of that you are never alone. That's something to be thankful for isn't it. You are never alone God at an either. Hey the direct to the governor is with you. He's four you and he is yours. I hesitate to ask this question because I guess it's possibly not true but other any worries amongst us this evening anybody a warrior. Yeah a few maybe for the warriors amongst us. Maybe we should read Matthew Chapter Six verses twenty five to thirty four and since the security the Jesus wants to bring to our lives Jesus says therefore I tell you do not be anxious. It's about your life what you will eat what you will drink nor about your body. What you will put on is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds. Words of the they neither so nor reap gathering to bombs and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they. which if you you by being anxious can add a single our to Hispan- of life and why anxious about clothing consider these the field? How they grow they neither toil oil nor spin and I tell you even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of those but if God so clothes the grass of the field which he's alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven? Will he not much more clothing. You Oh you of little faith therefore do not be anxious saying what shall we eat or what shall we drink. What shall we wear for the gentiles? Seek after all these things and your heavenly father knows that you need them all but seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow for tomorrow will be anxious for itself sufficient for the day is its own trouble. I don't know but maybe if sus was here today rather than two thousand years ago he might. What I've said is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the Spaniels us. They neither so will read nor gathering to bones. It's great having a dog I can tell you. He's always happy doesn't matter what's happening to him. He's never worried. He's never anxious because he knows his heavenly father provides for him. Maybe that's an illustration for us us today. God provides for US Avenue by the governor. The director of the universe knows what we need. I'm not to us day-by-day do not be anxious about tomorrow. That something to be thankful for I one of the Psalm that we're reading tonight. Says I love the Lord. I love of avenue I because he has heard my voice and my pleas. FA- Mercy God hears when you cry to him. God longs to be in your life and he will hear in an answer. You God longs to be involved in your life. He wants to be in relationship with you. He wants to give you the security and the comfort that you need so he you will hear your voice when you when you cry out to him when you call to him he will turn his ear to you because he loves you. The amazing thing about the Hebrew that's translated as heard in voice in this first because he has heard my. My voice includes the idea that God hears and answers the Psalmist. It isn't ingest here positively. But here's any onces. God doesn't simply listen to these people but he on system to Jesus expanded on this idea and luke eleven versus nine into eleven when he says and I tell you asked and it will be given to you not ask and your prayers will go somewhere got me through and nothing will happen to them. I tell you ask and it will be given to you seek and you will find knock and it will be opened to you for everyone who asks receives and the one who seeks fines and a one unto the one who knocks it will be opened longs to answer your press. That's a reason for Thanksgiving too. Is Nick God. Wants to bless you at an eye wants to bless issue. The governor the creator of the preserve off the universe wants to give you blessings upon blessings upon blessings. That is his nature he wants to patchy he wants to give you ten thousand reasons Why you would want to respond to him with Thanksgiving and so the psalmist reflects on this psalm? One hundred sixteen is his response and he encourages us to have the same response verses seventeen to nineteen says. I will offer to view the Serb the sacrifice of Thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of his people in the courts of the House of the Lord in your midst. Oh Jerusalem praise the Lord when you look back on this year yeah twenty nine thousand nine. My hope and prayer for all of you is that you can find something perhaps many do things but at least one thing something that you can thank God for a number of us have had a really difficult a year and we find ourselves still in difficult circumstances and when we find ourselves in difficult circumstances sometimes those negative feelings are what's to the forum we can't really see beyond there's but I hope and pray that there's something one thing that we can thank God for and if we see that if we see the ad on I is for us that he longs to be in relationship with us that he doesn't want to leave us alone that he wants to be with us that he wants to take our anxieties and our worries on to turn those around that he wants to bless us. I think the only thing that we can do is to respond Thanksgiving and praise. Just think around life if you receive Z.. Praise and appreciation for something. That you've done. I guess you feel pretty good dining alistair this morning was going to arrange for ten of you turn up with a cup of coffee for me at the end of the meeting because I said that was the most encouraging thing that happened on Sunday morning didn't quite pull it off but actually i. I appreciate being appreciated when you received praise on appreciation. You feel good well. God loves to when we show him appreciation when we show him Thanksgiving when we show him gratitude he loves it. He loves opposite when we express praise and Thanksgiving to him. Our praise and Thanksgiving makes him smile so we can praise God for who is. Maybe that's where we start. We start with these nature. Thank you God for Pu you up. Thank you that you are the governor of the universe that you are provider you are judge are merciful. Judge each thank you for the work that you ask your son to do on the cross as we thought about this morning we can praise God for who he is. We can praise God for what he's done in our lives. We can acknowledge that as people of Christ's covenant as members of his family in control of our lives and will work all things for goods and for his glory. Ori- I'm when we find that note of Thanksgiving praise that echo of the music of Thanksgiving as we say in our first song then then like the psalmist go public with it. Our friends our neighbors. Our families our work cally our community. I need to know how much God has done for us. And how grateful we are not will be a way of drawing them to God's and the salvation. It's not my call. We call we call this testimony testimony our knowledge and experience of God should shine through our lives. Shine nine through our testimonies and draw the people into our flow of praise and Thanksgiving. So that's why we're going to spend the rest. Most of the evening practicing testimonies sharing his Bible versus that speak to us because if they speak to plus we can help and speak to other people sharing the songs in the stories that describe our faith but are testimonies are not just for in here here. They great to share together because hopefully they encourage us a stir up as we thought of this morning to encourage other people and to encourage each other but are testimony has to be taken out there. To God's power has been demonstrated in our lives is that right. God's power has been demonstrated in our lives and so we must worship. I'm Shannon worshiped with others as our response. Because that's really the only way that we can repay God's faithfulness faithfulness to us. There's nothing else that we can do to repair. It and God knows that. In fact he doesn't expect us to repay it he knows all limitations imitations and frailties as human beings as we thought about in Psalm. One I three all yards is that we express us now. Thanks and gratitude three worship. So let's do that this evening..

"Let's pray together. Father God as we open your word this evening as we think about living out concrete practical holiness we also. You will help us to live our lives that you will encourage us that you will challenge us to live our lives in ways that worship so that our lives may be ones are ones of of worship to you. Holy God we are these pres- in your name how passage saving visions chapter four and chapter four four verses. Seventeen to thirty two if you want to find that in your bibles now if you're using one of us. It's on page and Lebanon seventy-five Fijian's chapter four verse. Seventeen seventeen to thirty two and if you picked up a set of message notes when you came in then they will help you as we go through this passage together. I want to start with a nice big question. What is the Salvation Army? What is the Salvation Army? Why does the Salvation Army exist? What's its purpose? I also that because sometimes I look at the salvation particularly in the Western world. and I wonder if we're not in a crisis of identity that we don't know what the Salvation Army's that we're not quite clear on in ways that perhaps we used used to in our very early days we were most definitely a radical Christian movement that called people to Jesus radical way of living and just think about our early days. We actually had the brass neck. Do use up phrase down here next year. That's good. We have the brass neck back to go to the poorest places of Victorian London to go to the gutters to go to those Victorian slums and we have to brass neck to say eight to those people the people who are marginalized and on the fringes of our society you can be saved and you can live a radical holy me life you can live a life of radical discipleship unholy living but when I look could our recent history in Western world. I wonder if we're prepared just to settle for complacency when we we compare ourselves to our early forefathers have we just settled for complacency for the last forty or so years we seem to have been content in just to become another institutionalized church. We've we've worked hard to become just another denomination and we've become enlarged pie are very well loved and well supported charity whenever I go out and collect or stand collecting people. Paul always say we love the Salvation Army always prepared to give to the Salvation Army. Sometimes it looks as though we're barely Christian Social Services Agency ED prepared to deliver a very high level of professional social service help. But sometimes when we've done that we've downplayed our faith and we've been unwilling to help those that we've helped seek help with their spiritual journey as well as with their physical and emotional needs. What's I wonder sometimes if we simply expected out decline the you know the way the trajectory that we're on particularly in the the Western world is just the way that is that we content just to Peter out until we simply cease to exist? Maybe we think think. Limited lifespan is simply inevitable as far as the Salvation Army's consent. Well I believe that. That's not our only option. How about you? I believe. That's not our only option. Jesus is still calling the Salvation Army to be credible followers Of his where the Salvation Army has become dry and dull. I still believe that those dry bones can live where we become lukewarm. I believe in the Holy Spirit can ignite US and direct us once more where there are salvation in this core and elsewhere who's holiness is dying for lack of oxygen. I believe the Holy Spirit can breathe new life into them do. Do you believe that there is still time for the Salvation Army and for Beijing. Cortin live out. Its calling as a vital movement kind of compassionate APP committed followers of Jesus and already see around me I see compassionate followers and committed followers of Jesus business living out their lives are salvation is around me all the time. So how can we ensure that we are the radical cool disciples that Jesus still needs today. We'll eat versus from a vision chapter four. I think can help us. And he is going to come common read versus seventeen to thirty two..

"Let's pray together Lord. We have just stunned that we love you that we want to be in relationship with view that we want to be in relationship. We also as we open your word this evening that you will help us to be in ever closer relationship with you. Help us to live like you help us to display your likeness to those around us because we abide in you because of our close relationship with you well in your name and so the passage. We're looking at this evening. Is John Twenty one John. Chapter Twenty One verses fifteen to twenty five if you picked up one of our bibles is on the way in. And that's on page one zero nine zero and if you picked up some message notes on the way and then you can follow those as we look at this passage together the is a holiness movement. One of the great themes of love salvation. EST Life is holiness and living that holiness living that holy life to full measure. But do you ever get the impression impression that holiness holy living is all about living by the rules. You get ever feel that way some vacation as you're allowed to say yes or no sometimes thank you Mike. Can you remember some of the rules that we followed in days gone by. I can remember the days when the rule was that we were expected to go to every meeting on Sunday and in my situation that meant to who Sunday schools to open meetings three meetings and the only time that we weren't allowed to go to those meetings we'll when we were on holiday and then we were expected to go to the Salvation Army somewhere else. That was one of the rules that we followed. Do you remember the rule that said that. If you were involved in core activities then they came first before everything else. Lots of young people throughout the years probably still today today have that conflict between the activities that they're involved in the salvation army and then other activities that take place in school and other places. We had a rule about having family devotions every day around the table and saying up prayers before we went to bed. Some of US had rules that we didn't watch. TV TV on a Sunday ends up. If you follow that rule yes a few of you. Some people never went to the cinema or went to watch live sport. Some wouldn't go dancing. Obviously those suits their mini skirts in uniform. Probably not such a problem. I've lived with rules over the air. About what color socks have to wear uniform in fact I still have those rules today as an officer. I'm what kind of shoes were allowed to wear fien in Salvation Army music sections where there were rules about what color tights the ladies wore usually. Just the ladies and what type of back act carried and all those sorts of things and even today the soldiers covenant that we sign when become when we become Salvation Army soldiers. We sometimes are tempted to see as a set of rules to keep. But here's what I see. In Jesus's life he preached to ordinary people who had enough trouble making ends meet. They didn't have enough time or energy to pursue the laws of holy living that was demanded by their Jewish religion. Many in the crowds follow. Jesus were crippled and disabled. Some of them had lifestyles which were well somewhat less than wholly and you think it's strange how Jesus spent so how much time with the Publicans on the tax collectors and the prostitutes the people that Jesus spent time with we're rule breakers not rule keepers. And yet somehow they were the ones in which Jesus placed the most hope he came saying the Kingdom of God for such as them. The Kingdom of God was open to those who believe in Jesus but closed to those who placed their confidence and security in keeping the religious rules. Now before you start writing your emails and your letters to the divisional commander. Let's just say that I'm preaching salvation. Heresy I'm not suggesting that living out the Christian life in a dedicated and disciplined way isn't good for us because after all the Publicans and the tax and the prostitutes and everybody else Jesus met had transformed lives because they met Jesus us their lives were different after they met. Jesus just think about Jesus story of the Prodigal Son who was forgiven so that he could start all living like the child of God that he wants all the adulterous woman. He was forgiven not so that she could continue in her adultery but so that she he could live a totally new and different life. Perhaps the greatest example of this transformation is poor the chief of sinners as he called himself. Alf was justified by God's grace so that he wouldn't fall back into the sin of of spiritual legalism that he'd indulged in until Jesus on that. Damascus wrote it is a real temptation to reduce the holy living to a set of rules after all an army stopped rules. Doesn't it but you know all of those rules off sacred. Let me just take one. There are times when we hold up uniform wearing as a sacred rule so just should wear it on if one soldier turns up without on will then actually means there's something wrong with them and something wrong with their spiritual temperature except that when you think about it. There are officers and than soldiers who've used the uniform distraction from their unhealthy lifestyle. Suddenly the rule doesn't make much sense. I'm sure you haven't but I've met uniform. Salvation exists with hearts of stone. Doesn't matter about the uniform they wear then and I have to confess for myself. There have been times when I've been guilty of following all the rules of being a good salvation. s whatever that means whilst being aware that my relationship with God was totally less than ideal so hardly in a season about uniform. Although women proudly on holy living is not about the rules that we is easier to live holy life if we have some discipline that makes exit concrete. Only living isn't about wearing ourselves into the ground three service in order to prove how good we all to God into other people people will is a call to be fruitful so we have to ask ourselves in all of this then. What is holiness? What does it mean to live the holy life to live a life of holiness? I believe this passage from John. Twenty onto one can help us and listen to fill now. She reads versus fifteen to twenty five.

There's a whole list of things that you shouldn't do and then a whole list of things that you should do instead but it's not really a set of rules because has the key comes in the two versus before the passage that we started reading versus twenty three and twenty four visions chapter four. You'll find those in your message. Notes Paul says put off your old self which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful rule desires and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds. The key to this passage is that believers arte put put off the old self that to strip away the old self so that God can give them their new self. We go from the old self to the new self when we're baptized by the Holy Spirit. That's really what we talk about. That's what we really signify on symbolize. His when we put on our Salvation Army Uniform House ovation. I'm a uniform is useful in lots of ways but the biggest thing is that they they are a symbol of the fact that we've taken off our old lives we've stripped off our old lives and we have put on our new life baptized by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit kills off our old self and raises us us with Christ into the new life when we are baptized by the Holy Spirit we are reborn by the Holy Spirit Parrot. We renounce the forces of darkness and we embrace the Kingdom of light the habits of our old self no longer have control over us because we've stripped off and we've put on our new life. The Holy Spirit empowers us to resist the evil powers. How is of the world and gives us the motivation to put our whole trust in Jesus Grace and love? So can you see now that this passage is not a set of rules to follow things that you shouldn't do and things that you should do. It's not like the cub scouts or the brownies where we get a merit badge whenever we take one of these off. I'm not I'm not talking any me falsehoods anymore. Tick speaking truth with my neighbor tick. I'm not angry angry. I don't let the sun go down on my anger. Take haven't given an opportunity to the devil take. It's not that kind. Aww List living the holy life is not like collecting merit badges as a as a scout or Brownie and by the way since we're in a salvation army meeting can I just say the soldiers covenant is just the same the soldiers covenant is not a titlist list of rules to follow things to do when things not today and I say that because in my interactions with salvation is here in this core and elsewhere in the salvation army world. It seems that sometimes. That's what we reduce the soldiers covenant to another set of rules and regulations to follow. It isn't both this passage in a Fijian's and our soldiers covenant marks of the new life given to us when we're baptized by honey spirit when we take off our old selves and we put on new selves. God puts this way baptized by the Holy Spirit. Then this passage and our soldiers covenant is what our lives begin to look like. We're a new creation if we're a new creation than we cannot go back back to being our old self. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not some kind of make ova paper over the cracks and hope that things will last. It's replacing one old self with a completely new self. The old all self is cast away and we focus on new life instead of turning back to the ways of death so so Paul says in this passage that when God gives us new life if we told lies in our old self the now we tell the truth if we had a tendency to be angry in our old life well then now we seek the peace of God's not as a take list to put because that's a mark of the new life that God has given us if we're a thief than we stop stealing and we look at ways of sharing doing what we have with those around some working honestly with our hands if our talk is unwholesome in our old self than when we take that often we strip off allow God to put new life into us then we start encouraging people and so on. This is what this passage is about. It's not list. It's the way life begins to look when we're baptized by the Holy Spirit and God gives us. He's new life. So what's our part in this hour. These verse one of Chapter Five Life if you want to memorize some scripture this week then this might be the verse to memorize. It's only one two three four five six seven eight words long. That's quite good for memorization. I think Paul says therefore be imitators of God as beloved children. That's our part therefore be imitators of gold is beloved children say with May therefore be imitators of God as beloved children therefore be imitators of God as beloved children like the small child in our video learns the way of life by imitating his parent so we learn Holy Life by imitating being got and we imitate God by simply following his example in his son. Jesus Christ on emulating his character in our lives. How many times have we send in the words of John Gallons down there in your message notes? I'm from southern number. Three hundred twenty eight to be like Jesus. This hope possesses me in every thought and cree undead. This is my aim my creed to be like Jesus. This hope possesses me his spirit helping me lie a came. I'll be. I'm afraid to sermon isn't rocket signs. Just take those middle lines if each and every one of us really really allowed going to grow in us that we could say in every thought and this is my aim mike create then we would be like Jesus that's just logic his net. It's not rocket science. It's logic in every thought. Indeed this is my a Mike creed to be like. Jesus if that was really what we wanted to do then we would be like Jesus. A disciple of Jesus longs to live the holy life. He or she is a student fully committed to imitating tasting their teacher. We read about Jesus in the Bible. Not Justin Oh more about him but in order to imitate him. I'm because of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ and the power given to us by the Holy Spirit we become godly characteristics An obedient cycles. In the way relief later we read about Jesus unlearn his example. But we also read each other. Have you noticed that we also so read each other you see. It's not enough to read about Jesus in the Bible and seek to put and then seek to put his example into practice because if we think about the analogy of the young child.

"If you'd like to turn to the evening's main passage we're looking at a Fijian's chapter four Fijian's chapter four starting at Verse Twenty Five and we're going into chapter five in verse two if you're using one of our bibles on page eleven. Seventy six eleven seventy six fees in chapter four verses twenty five to trump to five I to pray together. Jesus we come together this evening as a people who declare corporately and individually you load on. We declare our willingness US and wish and desire to live a harley life. We ask that through through the words that you will speak to us this evening. You will help us to live that hardy life better day by day so that we become more and more like you and we all sees praising your name so over the last few few weeks when I've been here we've been thinking I've said about this. This early Christian Dogma this early Christian creed this early Christian expression of faith. Jesus is Lord. And we've been thinking about what that means when Christians and salvation EST say Jesus this is Lord. What we reminded ourselves in? The past few weeks is that there isn't just a belief we don't just say we believe that Jesus is Lord but that in in saying Jesus is Lord that lives that brings us to a particular way of life that our lives say. Jesus is Lord and the way that we live day by day it means a life of obedience and surrender to him a holy life a life of holiness sinus and so our Salvation Army's tenth article of faith or doctrines. If you look at a message notes if you picked up on the way this evening say we believe that. It the privilege of all believers to be holy sanctified and their whole spirit soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord. Jesus as Christ what does that doctrine. Meanwhile does that article of faith mean well not is first of all that it says that it is the privilege of all believers leave us not of some believers but all believers and so all believers are called to be holy a sanctified and that their whole spirit soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord. Jesus Christ it says it's a privilege privilege but it's not privileged in the sense of. We often say society that there are some privileged people who are rich and have been given everything in life and then there are some that are not privileged when we talk about privilege in this article of faith we mean but it is a free the an undeserved gift from God. That's what it means to be a privilege. So we don't mean that there are some holy Christians and some unholy Christian questions. You don't believe in unholy Christians. Do you know if you're a Christian. Then it is the privilege of all believers of Air Free Christian to be holy to live the holy life. It's clear through his teaching and three poles else teaching as well. Look this evening that Jesus really intends to make every believer a radical follower that we should be his holy people holy living was always the plan. It wasn't just about getting people saved wasn't just about Out Jesus dying on the Cross to save us but that we should live a holy life afterwards so we need to know if that was always a plan what is is it. What is hardly living? Well it's to be like got holy. Living is to be like God now. I could leave the sermon here and we can say yes. We all agree with that and that would be fun. We could all go home. I'm not going to living a holy life means to be like God to imitate Gods. Now have you ever noticed how children imitate adults. Yes those of your parents will have noticed how children imitate adults. It's a way of learning in fact. Probably the main way that they learn just as a reminder have a look at a screen three.

"Him should not perish but have eternal channel life for God did not send his son into the vote to condemn the world but to save the world to him got though through Jesus Christ does not only any rescue us so we can be coming we can go from being lost to being found and for giving us that we can go from being one of his enemies to being one of his friends. He wants to adopt us into his family so we can truly know him as father. The idea that we are God's adopted children should help us now understanding of how we can walk with God's patch you can think of a path in the countryside and think how different people might walk along that path hamstring swing start with a group of individuals who are sending off together in a group the gun offered a fairly rapid pace. And there's no real concern about those in the group they can't keep up. They might say something like it's their responsibility and they just coats coldly two straight ahead in this way for a Kalita becomes weary rowing straightening process and sadly for some people that seem each of how they will be walking with God but perhaps we can think tentatively they of Family Group working together passes a caring parents walking the path with the charge. Notice how they slow the pace to allow the child to keep up they hold hands to encourage them to keep going and they're constantly watching for any problems and has its on the most difficult patches they may even been down and carry the youngster if if we come to know God through Jesus this is the image that most accurately describes how we can walk with God not only does God rescue the US forgive us and the doctors for its not being mistreated by being rescued by an emergency service. I mean put back on the way and told the wave of the hands you on your own now but God does not just rescue us Sir we can. I sounds back into a Michigan. He's also there to guide us as we walk with him. It causes I e by leading. He gives us his word. The Bible this guy on the way we went back to the book of Exodus we would see how. Oh God digitally guided these right people out from Egypt. He led them through the Wilderness of Sinai with crown by and a pillar of fire by night. That really is most dramatic way of God leading groups and we don't expect that but perhaps to think about psalm. Twenty three in the first three verses this is it says this the Lord is my shepherd I have all the time I need. He lets me rest in Green Meadows. He leads me beside peaceful streams he renews. Here's my strength. He guides me long pass bringing honor to his name. This gives us the picture of shepherd going ahead with the sheep falling falling behind confident in the shepherd skills to keep us safe in hebrews thirteen. The final prayer describes Jesus as that great shepherd of the sheep and in John. Fourteen verse six. Jesus himself saying I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me and the how spirits has taken on this role of continuing to lead us. We are told about it in John Chapter Sixteen and he says but when the spirit the truth comes he will guide you into orchard with the Holy Spirit. Is there for each one of us to guide US and help us. And when situations RECON CON protects us the next verse Psalm. Twenty three verse four says even when I walked through the Darkest Valley I will not be afraid for for you close beside me your thoughts and your staff protect and comfort me. God Is there whatever the situation we Ronan something or the footprints in the sand poem we know how some point there were two sets of feet walking together and the footprints could be seen and then suddenly one footprints disappears and we know that that is the point when we most need supports goat is carrying us so of course no guarantee of trouble free life but while we may not be protected from trouble we are protected through trouble. Go through because beside us as as you walk with. God's we also have the opportunity China Tim for we ought to be guides ourselves. Emit imagine that was driving down some Chris wrote someone suddenly raves. Downs tells us to stop because the road ahead has collapsed into the sea while we would immediately turn the car around and weird return on the road but as we dude worth driving we'd be grateful from the scape from star. Sir feel obliged to pass on that news to other people flashing on is to be raving at them to try and stop them going along that same dangerous path and so- warning other drivers to I'm to be where as far as Jesus wearing the same position we also worn those on the remote mode and direct them to the right one. Walking with God. Different people will come to US Gordon. Different ways continue the idea of driving a car. Some some do Atari screening u-turn while this would do allegedly three point turn only some cases five or seven point. Turn the speed and the dramatic Mesic. Nature is not important important. Point is to turn around and start heading in the right direction. The book that I read by J John Finishes with Attack Chapter entitled the Way Ahead Tries to give us some guidance on continue to walk successfully with God by considering the past the the presence and the future in terms of looking back at the past we must have the right outlook to a full accepted forgiveness and forgiven others. It might be that. The scars of the past nine but the runes themselves got healed secondly we should allow the past to give us warnings to see where weaknesses loy join and take action to prevent repetition of the same troubles and then as we consider the presence. These was some guiding principles that it gives us as a Christian. The privilege of having the Pastel so we can concentrate on walking the president. We must walk with God day by day just one day at a time each day making a deliberate efforts to walk with him. We need to try to distinguish between feeling and fact pilots highlights may frequently have to fly plane. We're near the sky nor the ground can be seen sometimes hopefully find your short duration will commit God. My seem like this but don't panic. Panik keep going in faith never postponed. What must be done? Don't fall ourselves at some time in the future. Everything will be perfect and then we come up with God. In the meantime doing nothing starts continual with God today and everyday we need to work at walking with God. Keep up with Your Life Your Bible reading your worship and fellowship with other Christians. The Christian life is like riding a bike the one guaranteed way of falling off is is to stop then expect the way to get easier. They're always new challenges new things to learn a new issues to face a good parents got delights in stretching his children children stay limits. Be careful of trying to take shortcuts. Most of the time we'll come with God involves making slow and steady progress. One step at a time the way of God is often described in the Bible as the Straits path and there are no shortcuts on a straight vote we need to seek. Companions is on the way we need to spend time with other Christians. We need to watch our step to think are we acting justly dooby love kindness nece really walking humbly with God and finally. Don't be discouraged trying times and the times to stop. I'm trying look quotes in the book. Which said yesterday is a memory? Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift from God. That's why it's called the presence and then if we were to look for future we are told many times not to worry about Tamar Dr but we are promised and be sure three words victory glory and certainly we do not really expand on these but we can sure if we walk with God he has a wonderful future an eternity planned for each one of this this morning. We must ask and answer the question that we first began with. What does the Lord require of you to act justly to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God? Are you doing each of these. This morning we're going to sing a song song where we can spend some time just thinking about walking with God. It's six hundred and sixty six. Oh for humble walk with God Door Ben. This stubborn heart or mind securities rising rebel thoughts and all my will conform to go for versus seeing them to buy. Want you just as you sing to. Just I think for yourselves. Am I walking with God. Am I having the tattooed love kindness and just to to move forward and an Christian experience..

What you might not know is that in? His Autobiography Autobiography Bertha. Gandhi says that in his student days he was truly interested in the Bible and in the Christian message he was deeply touched by reading the gospels. Yeah and so one Sunday he actually went to a nearby church to attend one of the services and he decided to seek out the minister and to ask for instruction the way of Salvation and enlightenment on other doctrines but when he entered the sanctuary of the church the ashes refused to give him a seat and suggested that he go and worship with his own. People left that church and never came back. If Christians have cost differences also Gandhi said to himself. "If if you are a member of a specific political party then you are expected to vote for that policy and not another party. Just just ask Allison Campbell. What happens if you do in someone finds out or another one is you might? You're not allowed to lend your card to another person so for example technically speaking if you have a national trust membership card. You're not allowed to give that to another person to actually use twenty buildings and asset however being a member gives you certain rights and privileges so more national trust God lets me Free International Trust Properties and let me park in their grounds okay and then the Iq the Kea card. If I turn on certain days I can get a free free coffee in their restaurant but not weakens understand. So if we are members of God's family and to be accepted fully into God's family than we must acknowledge God as our heavenly father and laughing in John Chapter Fourteen Verse Twenty Three. We read reweight removed. Jesus words saying that if we love him we obey his teaching. We will do this. Not Fear. But but south bluff so are being in God's family and obeying his teaching God gives us the promise of term life with him read in John Chapter Fourteen versus twenty five twenty seven. He says these things. I've spoken to you while I'm still so we but the helper the holy spirit whom the father will send in. My name will teach you things and bringing to remembrance of all the odds set the pace. I leave if you my peace I keep to you not as the world gives to you. Let's not let not your heart be troubled. Neither let them in the frame let them be. Are you afraid. And in some translations I know the Holy Spirit is actually referred to as the comforter which is probably even a better word so in the old chessmen the people had to rely to some extent on the words of the Prophets Spring Comfort to them and I had also most of the time had to see with their own eyes. Miracles being performed cyclope leaving God only a few individuals filled. We've got spirit for example. Tehran me we read Joe Joshua being filled with the spirit however we members of I've got family and got children members whose family Jesus told us the promised us that we will be filled his spirit. What Jesus did not say and I think sometimes we do tend to forget this is that why not be a bread of roses? Jesus I did not promise that nothing bad will happen to us and everything will be easy and present in fact John Fifteen. We read that Jesus says they are persecuted it million they will persecute you so to summarize. We are members of God's family because we love and obey him he he acknowledges that by knowing our names and sending his Holy Spirit toss his spirit he guides and comforts suss either directly using the words. He's word in the Bible or by using other Christians by prompting. Some coming onsite site. US be to us what we require of him that day as I mentioned at the beginning all these folks came initially because I was thinking of songs the song and we're now going to listen to that song and the key words words in this song are do not be afraid I am with you and I love you for your mind while this is playing out. L. Price Place of prayer is open. And if you'd like to come and ask God for his comfort blessing. Please do so ways if you want to talk to God on on your own brings something in your hand or if you're not twelve coming out but still like to talk to them quite welcome to do that in the we listened to this song. "Thank you any. So shall we say. Shall we get the controversy out of the way I do notice. There's a controversy in this passage. Anybody faith without deeds yes so whole says actually. It's mother works that save you. It's not the deeds that save you. It's only faith that saves you. And that's what we follow as Protestant Evangelical Christian. So if you look at the first burst in your outline Romans Three Twenty eight Paul says for we maintain that a person is justified by faith. Apart from the works of the the law. In other words you'll save by faith not by works in Galatian strapped to to sixteen. That's the next verse in your outline. Paul says yet. We know that a person is justified. Fide not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ and we have come to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by doing the works of the law because no one will be justified by the works of the law. So did Paul and James Contradict each other. Well let's have a look at the context first of all. They were confronting different issues. So Paul in his letters was confronting false teachers. Those false most teachers would take teaching networks in particular things like being circumcised and observing Jewish ceremonial laws. They were all necessary for salvation vice. You couldn't be saved. You couldn't belong to God unless you went through those ceremonial laws. James is is arguing. Something different he's arguing with those who believe that simply agreeing with the Gospel in other words. Having a kind of intellectual faith in their minds was enough to obtain salvation. There's also a difference in the timeframe of the believer's faith journey. Paul is talking about salvation -ation right at the beginning of the Christian journey and he's saying no one at this point at the beginning of the Christian journey no one can ever earn God's forgiveness and salvation. It's a gift. We were thinking about not over Easter when we saw Vatian is gift. It's a gift of grace and we obtain Tena through faith not through works. All we can do is to accepted James Speaking to Christians who are further along that journey mature Christian believers those who already accepted that gift of forgiveness and salvation and he is saying in essence for well them they must live a new life if through faith they have obtained salvation and the gift of forgiveness and salvation. Then it must look like a different different life as mature believers. James isn't saying that works. Have to be added did to faith but that genuine faith includes works. So that's a controversy out of the way now we can focus on what James wants to say to us this evening. Kiva is not verse. Seventeen James says so with faith if it does not lead to action it is in itself lifeless thing faith if it does not lead to action is in itself a lifeless thing now among many Christians today they say. Do you know the days have gone now for preaching. That's black and white. We need it to be a little bit more gray. We needed to be a little bit more nuanced well. James clearly didn't believe in that because we have this stark warning here. It's black and white. It simply believing in God is not enough. Can't get much more black and white and that Kenny simply believing in God is not enough conviction and intellectual belief kind of a belief in our minds that refuses to obey Christ comes is lifeless date again. There's this quite black and white isn't it isn't it. You're either alive or dead. Sometimes we might feel between but honestly either alive over it. How do we know that our faith is the real thing? How do we know that our faith is alive and not dead because it does what it says on? The Tin Action is the fruit of living faith. If we don't respond to others needs if we don't respond to those social issues that we thought about a few minutes ago then whatever faith eighth we possess is dead black and white. It's dead just in case we don't get not James. Has This hypothetical example for us to go through in verses fifteen to sixteen suppose brother or sister is in ranks with not enough food. For the day I'm unwanted says well good luck to you keep yourselves warm and have plenty to eat but does nothing to supply their bodily needs. What is the good of that? And what are we all say to dot. It's no good a toll. That's quite straightforward. Isn't it really. James Raises is hypothetical socialist. You have his day and I'm sure that there were people who are actually in that kind of situation and simply asks what would we do. What would we do? Would we really see someone in rags and with no food for the day and simply say well good luck to you keep yourself warm and have plenty to eat. Well if so then our faith is nothing but empty words because those words mean nothing. It's certify inadequate isn't it to say to someone on him not situation. Well Good luck to you. Keep yourself warm and I hope you're okay. It doesn't work because nothing changes now. We might actually actually be really sincere. And those words that we say it's not that we dismiss them and say we're good luck to you. We might actually mean keep yourself look after yourself goes well words might be well many but nothing altars in the end. I'm that's why James says our faith is date because nothing changes something more than simply talk is required if however we see see someone in ranks and with no food for the day and our faith stirs Stark Shen if we find them some warm clothes to wear or we find them shelter or something thing warm and comforting tweet actions. Confirm that our faith is alive. It's the real thing because it's doing. What exactly what it says on the tin gene our faith changes the situation? I'm that's what shows that our faith is alive. Now this is in the Salvation Army's DNA. I'm preaching to the converted tonight. Salvation is believe this. Don't worry yes good about twenty of you. That's pretty good. William Booth said you cannot warm. The heart of hearts people with God's love if they have an empty stomach uncalled feet. He got it. He got those words from James. He realized that real faith real faith makes a real difference in human life and it was his belief and good works as the fruit of faith that led us to set up homeless hostels soup kitchens match factories freeze job clubs all sorts of different things many of which still going on today need oriented evangelism. Him as the phrase goes is still one of the strengths of the army. Today God continues to call us to share God's love in ways that are relevant to the needs of those around us we are called as the Salvation Army. We cold basingstoke core. We are cold. As individuals individuals salvation exists to meet the relational material emotional and spiritual needs of those op community. Who Most need it so the question tonight? It's quite easy isn't it. Is our faith the real thing does our faith say exactly what it does exactly what it says on. How are we using our spiritual gifts? Our energy we are experiencing our contacts and a time on material goods to meet the felt needs of the people of basingstoke or do we have to admit admit to ourselves that actually we quite content to wish them well and hope they find the help that they need so if we want our call to grow then it's the job of every believer here to ensure that their faith does what it says on the team. There are people in the world out there who need you they need me May need Christ. Will you ensure that yours is a fighting faith.
