They got people the nation and gambia. Buzzy do yeah that's for mirka to gambia. Ambler used to go to every part of the african for them to go to the gambia even someone to gain a synagogue run but number but to highlight this point though. Is that most times when they do talk to sending muslim. It's going to be some uncle with an accent was all bend over backward and blah blah means peace. We want to help out stack about like we took. We want to spain back. Yeah yeah. I'm saying that i'm not mocking those people but what i'm saying is that when we're muslims who are young and in this generation and in this society were born and raised here understand culture. We can speak a little more confidently about what it is our true..

Los Angeles Erupts As Dodgers Win First World Series Championship In 32 Years

"I WANNA zoom out here now on the dodgers as this franchise because this was their first championship in thirty two years and I was watching Dave Roberts and putting aside all of the Cova. Complications it was hard not to feel something for that guy and it was hard to feel something for this organization N. This fan base and this city. So what did you make of the dodgers finally getting over? This. Particular Hump, you know I think that Dave Roberts has been a guy who at times has been rightly maligned for his decision making but the decision making that will stick with me from this postseason has to do with two pitchers Clayton Kershaw in Julio. Arenas Dave Roberts twenty four hours before he won a world series championship got booed by a crowd that was almost entirely dodger fans at a neutral site stadium. It was a really weird thing. This guy who's got all these supposed demons and October's getting a standing ovation coming off the field. For for people who think he should have stayed in the game it was just a very bizarro situation and you know what I think Dave? Roberts. made the right move there. And people are always going to say process over outcome process over outcome raised died on that mantra and. Dave Roberts lived on it. He ended up going with Julio Arias for the last three innings of the clincher in the S. In the last three innings of the clincher in the world series he had Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen, his two rocks out in the bullpen ready and willing to go and he said now I'm a stick with a kid who's pitching. He stuck with the guy who looked good and that is one thing that Kevin cash did not do. And there's an argument to be made. That they lost the world series because of that. And then you look at Julio. Maria Standing There Austin Barnes catching that call third strike in grabbing the ball with his right hand and stuffing in his back pocket. That's history in his back pocket right there and the celebration that came afterward and all of the madness and weirdness and oddity of two thousand twenty being wrapped up in such a perfect though.

University of Michigan residence hall staff strike, demand increase in coronavirus protections

"The university Today's story comes from Sunita Rodriguez as a first generation college. I was incredibly intimidating, coming to a campus like you of them entering like a small city, which is when the campus felt like was really overwhelming you of them. That's the University of Michigan. Sunita is a senior now and thriving She's an R A. A resident advisor are A's are. You know they're not just like safety believes, or like Robo cops. They really are meant to mentor you and help give you advice. The job covers her housing and food costs, and Sunita takes the responsibility seriously. That's why in this pandemic, she and many other R A's have started raising concerns with the administration over the universities, health and safety policies. One of the administrators repeatedly said that attempting to provide widespread testing across the campus was not realistic. And in my mind that became a turning point, because if providing widespread testing, which is needed to ensure the safety of campus and prevent an outbreak Is not realistic. Then why on Earth was bringing people back to campus? Ever even considered a possibility, But it's not just testing Sunita is concerned about. She believes that while some of the student health and safety policies sound good on paper Difficult to implement and enforce, especially in the dorms with their kitchens, bathrooms and common spaces. Everything is kind of Senator honed sharing and the fact that there was there wasn't more effort on the university to maybe, you know, locked on the space is removed the furniture like take more actual steps, too. Actually shut these down and prevent people from utilizing them was concerning and as an aria. When Sunita tries to enforce the school's policies she has on ly one trick up her sleeve. A lot of What are easing The past of the light on is kind of the power of the bluff. We ask our residents that you need to come to this home eating. It's mandatory, but there are really no consequences and we don't have any like repercussion system for not following certain measures like that, Sunita says the Rays are feeling helpless and unsafe. So many of them decided to strike along with members of the Graduate Students union. I have not been filling out my reports for my job that are supposed to indicate that I'm Actually engaging with presidents. Sunita says she and the others won't go back to work until their demands are met for things like regular access to testing and sufficient personal protective equipment. The president of the university, acknowledges the strike but has yet to respond to their demands. Tomorrow. The Arias will vote on whether to send a renewed set of demands to the administration. There was no pandemic playbook. You know, there was no no instruction guide for how do you stand up Tio University who is not prioritizing public health. But despite that uncertainty Working with my peers. I quickly found that you know, we don't need a guide in the face of unprecedented challenges. We can be the difference. That was Sunita Rodriguez, a resident advisor at the University of Michigan on her new normal Let's

Mozart's Operas

"Welcome to classics for kids. I'm Naomi. Lewin. Both Con Amadeus Mozart wrote more beautiful music in his not quite thirty five year lifetime than a lot of composers who lived a lot longer one kind of music that fascinated Mozart from the time he was a kid was opera. Mozart I. said he wanted to write an opera when he was eight and when he was twelve, he did up through the very last year of his life. He continued composing operas. An opera is a stage work with costumes and sets that also includes music singing as an important part of the drama instead of speaking their lines, the characters sing them. Italy. Was the country where opera got its start. So Italian was the fashionable language for writing operas even in German speaking Austria where Mozart lived. But Go to kind of opera that's related to our Broadway musical. It's called the Zing Spiel a play with singing Austrians who didn't speak Italian could understand because it was in German just like in American musical theater, there are spoken lines that move the plot along but when the characters want to let you know what they're feeling, they sing about it or August. I have two favorite Mozart operas one in each language not city Figo Godot is Italian for the marriage of Figaro. This opera is based on a very famous, very revolutionary play about a servant Figaro who outsmarts his royal master. Since, there was still plenty of royalty around when the play was written. It was pretty daring. Some kings wouldn't allow it to be performed. At the beginning of the Opera Figaro is busy measuring his new bedroom, you can hear him counting five, ten, twenty in. Italian of course. Susannah the woman Figaro's going to marry tries to interrupt. She wants him to look at her bridal veil. You can hear in Mozart's music how hard it is forces Emma to get Figaro's attention. Figaro has some Great Arias or Solos in the opera when one of the characters is sent to the army and doesn't want to go figaro things about what it will be like ticked rate in his pants, he closed for a uniform and then marched to the mud. Nine. and. My other Mozart favorite is the magic flute heat Salva Fluid a Germans ing. SPIEL. In the magic flute, the Queen of the night represents evil dark forces and Rostro represents light and truth. It's brilliant how Mozart shows the contrast between them by having the Queen of the night fast loud and very high. While rostro music is slow deliberate and very. The. Most, fun character in the magic flute is Papa Gay No. The Bird Catcher I even named a cat after him. Papa John is always looking for a wife when he finds one, her name turns out to be Papa Gain A-, and they sing a wonderful using their names to investigate the birds he catches. Wish, I had time to play you more music from Mozart operas next week a kind of music so. In Mozart's bay that classical composers latched onto it to

Nintendo Direct Mini: What We Learned from the Partner Showcase

"Nintendo surprised everyone late last night by announcing that it would be airing a Nintendo direct mini partner showcase early this morning. The surprise announcement last night read on July twentieth. We'll debut the first Nintendo direct mini partner showcase a series focused on titles from our development and publishing partners will share a few updates on a small group of previously announced Hashtag. Nintendo switch games? The quick window between the announcement of the thing and airing the thing. And specifically pointing out that it would only cover previously announced games lowered my expectations to the floor, but there were at least a few surprises. Here's what they shared. I the direct started with a cove in nineteen disclaimer, saying basically that the future is uncertain, and everything could change including release dates, but then they made their first announcement with was planned DLC for a game whose full title is cadence of high rule crypt of the neck, dancer, featuring the legend of Zelda. The game released last year, but it will get three new DLC packs, which will release through October. The first pack adds new characters to the game. IMPA shadow link and Shadow Zelda and then characters named Aria and Frederick who I believe our original characters. I fancy myself a bit of his elda. Didn't immediately recognize those characters D second pack will add thirty nine new songs to the game. The third pack, which seems the most substantial Ed's a whole new story with new songs where you can play as skulk the tags from yours mask who can change masks to adopt new abilities? The character pack is available today in the other packs will be available later with all the pacts eventually coming out by October, and then the game will also receive a physical release with all the DLC bundled in one box on October twenty third. I played and beat cadence of Jairo Crypto the neck road answer featuring diligent of Zelda, but ultimately liked the soundtrack a lot more than I liked the actual game. I would go so far as to say I love the soundtrack, so I am excited to hear all the new songs. I don't know that I am really eager to actually play the game more, but I am also such as Zelda soccer that I probably will. The next two announcements weren't really announcements so much. The Game Rogue Company was shown which looks like a pretty. Pretty unspectacular third person online shooter with cyberpunk sort of theme. It didn't look bad by any means that it just didn't do much to stand out. Same goes for the next game. WWE TO CAPE battlegrounds. There was some new gameplay and we saw some wrestlers who were likely well compensated to show how excited they were about the game. They were playing, but there wasn't much. That had not already been shared the mini, direct and strong, though with two big atlas announcements. Shimagami ten say one, which was basically Shimagami Tennessee, three and Japan. Is Getting remastered for release on switch next year. I would love some help here in the form of a correction because I find the Shin Montgomery ten say series to be pretty confusing as it has all devolved into different spinoffs like persona, which itself has all kinds of spin offs. I was always under the impression that knocked turn was spinoff as well, but I guess it is part of the mainline series, and this rerelease will have the number three in the title, even though it did not have a three in its North American title when it originally released in two thousand four. In any case you know where it belongs in the Shin, Mugabe cannon really isn't. All that portent the important thing is that it is generally considered to be one of the best, if not the Best Shimagami, ten say game that isn't called Persona and it's actually the entry that I play the most. It has some MON elements to it with demon collecting, and when it originally released, it featured Dante from devil may cry. Suggest character which is a cool idea. I'm curious if the rerelease will keep that Dante Cameo. It also just has a great art style to it and I'm happy to see it getting a visual overhaul for the switch release. It is coming spring twenty twenty one after that a trailer was shown for Shimagami ten. Say Five a game we have known about since two thousand seventeen, but this was the first in some time. The trailer didn't reveal much. A teenager looks like they're given some kind of demonic choice and I don't know that they make the right one. The game is coming in twenty twenty one, but the trailer didn't anymore specifics than that. I had low expectations going into this thing and they were mostly met, but I was surprised by the nocturnal announcement. That was very cool. The Internet seems generally annoyed that Nintendo has not made any big summer announcements and that with paper Mario Animal Crossing having been released. It really doesn't seem like they have any big games for the rest of the year. which is true, but the weird thing is. Is I. Don't know that it really matters to Nintendo. Twenty twenty can kind of just be a low key year for them. Because animal crossing was just that big of a hit. It feels like they are in no rush to push anything out. Because everyone is just going to keep buying animal crossing anyway, they can barely keep up with demand for the switch consoles as it is. Now with all that being said though I think Nintendo kind sees the cancellation of e three as a blessing in terms of how it likes to announce Games paper Mario was announced and released within a few months. And I think that's how Nintendo would always prefer to do it. Keep the window between announcement and release small, but e three kind of forces them to make these big proclamation announcements all piled up on top of each other and share things many months before the popular November release window with E. Three out of the way though I think Nintendo is taking advantage and will make individual announcements for games. Just shortly before they actually release. There is that rumored Super Mario collection that will gather a bunch of three D Mario Games maybe nintendo will detail it in a dedicated direct, and then release it within a month, or so closer to November, and maybe in the unlikely scenario that breath of the wild to is coming this year. They will do the same thing. have a focused dedicated direct for the game, and then it will come out shortly after or maybe as I alluded to earlier, Nintendo will just look at animal crossings absurd sales. Do a round of socially distant high fives, and just push everything in originally had planned for twenty twenty into twenty twenty one.

Alone, Together - A Covid Nurse's Story

"March twenty second twenty twenty. My heart is broken on Friday night. My worst fears were realized as I watched. My beloved patient are Evan. Take his last breath on earth. To other patients rush to his side with tears in my eyes I watched them instinctively placed their hands on his eyes and recite the Shema prayer. At Him and said goodbye I says holy soul entered the gates of heaven. That's like Gamaa. She worked day and night, following strict isolation protocols that meant among other things wearing full protective gear in ministering care via video intercon's. One of them was eighty eight year old Alliott Evan who on March Twentieth Twenty Twenty, sadly became Israel's first covert casualty of at home shallots. Traditionally when a Jew dies, there's a series of rituals including washing the body that take place, but hunter the now with covert. Everything would be different missile heavily. The Ministry of Health has prepared us with instructions on how to deal with disease covid nineteen patients. We are the first hospital in Israel to implement this protocol. Similar to casualties of biological warfare, our treatment of the body needs to be done in a way that will not endanger us. Because of this there can be no purification or Tahara process. The circumstances of your hospitalization did not allow for your loving family and caretaker to be by your side for us in them. This was heartbreaking from the outside monitored you as closely as we could. We were an off as we watch the other patients care for you, keep you company and help you. However they could. They did not want you to ever feel. Are Yet, I wanna ask you for forgiveness. I'm sorry for how we were required to handle your body. We did our best to preserve your dignity and respect you based on the circumstances I know that it was done to protect us. It was a tremendous food and honor to care for you. In the span of two weeks, the number of patients in my unit has quadrupled and keeps growing the everyday experiences in the word taking an emotional toll on me. On Friday, a daughter of a critical patient walks into our operations headquarters. Since no family member can go inside the unit. She has come to say goodbye to her L. As I watched her cry and talked her father through a screen I have to physically turn my head to hold back tears. This is heart wrenching to watch I cannot even begin to imagine what it's like for them. At six thirty PM with thirty minutes left until the end of May shift. I'm rushing to finish my last tasks inside the unit. At this point, the moderate patients have all congregated in the middle of the word to do Tabet. "So one of the things that strikes me about this case is that the idea of Jodi Arias as being the second most hated woman in true crime and I think if you were to ask people is the most hated holding true crime. They're all going to say all going to say Lori is GonNa be her in. Oh the OH dollar might be number one now. Everyone in her life has been murdered. Her two kids are missing. And it's like she doesn't smile in court now she's at the biggest piece of shit. Yeah so then you've got you have like Susan Smith but it's still it's like soon. Smith is the woman that killed her kids by driving them into the water. That was one of the first ones like that though where she lied. But that was eighty S. Sure well I think it was not an east but yeah you don't have to make me seem older than I am but I think the fact that this was a woman who killed her her boyfriend and there was. There was very few people that kind of came to her defense other than the real fringe aspects. That were get into it a little bit but she really is. Whenever you know if you were to go up to anybody at Crime Khan and say who's the most hated woman true crime. I would say anthony. They would say Jodi Arias. I think that's interesting too. Because most of these women that people the most hated women all have killed their kids so I think that there is an aspect of that words. If you'RE GONNA murder your child there is a special place in Hell for you there so this is interesting that it was. Her boyfriend wasn't even her husband. Which kind of goes to show. How big of a piece of shit. She is that she can go and make it to the top of that list without having all these other aspects that usually Kinda just push women to the top that list anyways while I think for Casey Anthony. The idea that she killed her toddler and there was out partying. I mean it's just it's just a taste. People cannot get out of their mouths where it's like. No you cannot be partying after your child dies accidentally you can't it does not make sense unless you're evil like that's how people's brains work and with jody. I think when you really break down the evidence I mean I think Chris Theory about how Jodi uses the audio recordings to manipulate Travis. Not only to get him to do what she wanted. But also on the day of the murder she probably used them to. I'm sorry Travis I took these recordings of you you know. Chris also elaborated that he was trying to get back in good graces with his bishop so she's blackmailing him. Saying she'll show the bishop these recordings he can listen to them in. You know who knows what she was trying to exert power. I don't know but then in hindsight you see it's like Oh God she went to go. Say Sorry to. Travis offer the recordings up and then he forgave her and gave her him on a platter vulnerable to to do what she did The gas cans. I just think the deliberate calculated nature the burglary our grandparents house where she got the gun her willingness to call him a pedophile. I mean that's the opposite of remorse. It's like doubling down. I took your life that I'm going to ruin any good. You've ever did by plastering you with these labels. I mean it's it's evil. It's horrible and I think that's where she beats. Casey Anthony where she didn't kill a baby but she tried to kill Travis his whole life any any good. Anyone ever thought of him. She tried to destroy more blackmailing somebody. After they're already dead is a new level of low as well like that's so DOPP because the person's author to defend themselves especially accusing somebody of being a pedophile. There is literally nothing worse to accuse somebody of so it's whose religion was important to them. It's just ask for me. It's no awful because we're used to this to a degree right defense attorneys. Generally they find a different angle abuses common. It's like you know you battered women syndrome. You that's common and that's not as agreed Gis as calling someone rapist and a pedophile. I mean it's just not the same billy billy okay. Should we call it okay? Time Death Sixteen thirty eight..

"Important to me so as we know Jodi. Sentencing is not where the story ends. We continue to hear about her and following her sentence. A feud between Jodi and her trusted attorney of six years Kirk Nurmi played out publicly. Nouri published a book called trapped with Miss Areas. It was a tell all book about the time that he spent defending her. Jodi sued him after the book was published and Nurmi ended up losing his law licence as a result. That's like a big deal that he loses his license. I mean it's the most high profile case of his life. He probably took it to advance his career and then he loses his law license. It's crazy risky thing to do. I'm sure he probably weighed the risk of you know that you could definitely face consequences of doing something like that. So for him to think it's that big of a deal. Well he's super polarizing. This is a thing. Kirk Nurmi such victim. You're stuck with Jodie and he ruined her life. You were dragging an innocent murder victim through the mud saying he's a pedophile. It's hard to feel bad for him. Granted it is his job to defend Jodi but I think a criminal defense attorney. There's a line you know what I mean And I think that is just how you sleep at night. When his poor sisters are like sitting in mckinney the seats of the court? And you're calling somebody who was brutalized a pedophile. When it's total lies total is it and you can tell just the character and the type of character that he has is that not only is he does. The prosecution and the victim's family hate him but also the person that he was defending sues him. You Know He. He not only was a poor lawyer and a vicious lawyer but he also did not even protect at the end his own client by violating client privilege which you can do at the end there but it's still it's not really the most ethical thing to do and that's what. Jodie sued them. I don't think it is ethical. I mean I think he can't do that. Which is why he did it and she actually won that lawsuit and he was disbarred. Olive hopefully it is totally unethical to start. Then 'cause you're basically sabotaging her shot at. It's a big deal at appeal. You know what I mean like your own lawyer cannot turn on. You know you see it. Well that's the thing is that he turned on her. The you've seen Lurs have done it before but it's usually like I'm trying you know I'm still trying to get this person out. This is what happened during the case as our story but to turn on somebody like that. You're right yeah that's it's bad. He's bad news all around later. He told the press that he was undergoing cancer treatments. He then said the reason he'd gotten cancer was because of Jodi Nurmi told her reporter quote what. I went through with Miss Areas was very traumatic for me. In retrospect I think my role in the areas trial in everything that happened was the reason cancer infested my body. That's a bold statement. It reminds me a lot of what happened with Robert Kardashian. I mean that's exactly what I was thinking as I was reading through that. It's very very similar. Well it does tell you. Maybe the only reason you'd even project that onto your your cancer. He's cancer a lot of people. I have cancer. It's science. There are variables in the world that caused me to get cancer. The reason he would project that onto that is if he feels guilty. I think yeah where it's got to be because Jodi it's got be 'cause I defended jody. I was traumatized by jody. It's like no dude you you pretend you don't give you pretend you're like bad ass defense attorney who can slander a dead man. But you didn't feel good about it. Felt bad about it but you did it anyway and you knew it was unethical and you did it anyway. So now you think cancer is your Karma he's justifying this bad Karma that's come upon him. It's very interesting and when I think was interesting about him I've watched him interviews with him and he's kind of like an unsung character in this saga because he was also saying he's glad his law license got taken away and he said after jody. I never wanted to practice law again. So maybe he knew maybe it was the last Straw. Maybe it was like I can't be this scumbag ever again. There's a lot to it and I think it's really interesting and the fact that little. Jody this little blonde hundred pound. Nothing scares men truly. I mean she does. Everyone who talks about her just says she's a sociopath. So Lord knows what experiences you had with her so he also said that Jodi gave him the will to fight the disease saying that I feared death would permit. Miss Areas is lies to taint my legacy speaking of legacy preserving of course the only legacy that we're really concerned with preserving here is Travis Alexander's millions of people around the world. That followed this trial. And actually one of the reasons why My kids mom and I wrote the book is because people had questioned the title of the book is our shrine and Travis was co authored by Sty And I much mom and so this was a labor of love This book was written to descend Travis's honor. It was written as an exclamation point on the backside of his legacy. It was written to help people come to mellow and love the same Travis Alexander that we love and it was written to answer questions and to fill in the blanks for anybody that was interested in in his life in the trial. Or you know the backstory. I want the audience. You know your audience to know first and foremost one hundred percent of every penny that I receive in royalties from this book. Go to Travis Favorite charity which is the Perpetual Education Fund. Chris and sky back when this happened twelve years ago. They were sort of embroiled in every aspect of this case backstory trial being dragged into it with these fabricated letters their family implicated and ultimately sort of recovering through this process and recovering from being at the focal point of one of these media circus trials. So what does it look like now? Does he missed travis? And how has healed overtime? I went back in that car It's a really bizarre thing. And I don't know if this is the subconscious way of you know protecting me from such a scary devastating situation but as I look back on all of this and it's like it's a it was a movie you know what I mean. It was like it's like that does not feel real life for many many years. I didn't go a day without thinking about him. I miss him terribly. Travis's my my buddy. My business partner like a little brother. I never had. I used to cry about it. I mean even five years ago I I couldn't get through conversation you know without crying about it So I do feel like some significant level of healing occurred but it is weird to have these conversations because I feel like I'm telling you about a movie that I watched. I'm glad that y'all are doing what you're doing and I've listened to some of your other. Podcasts y'all do great work. It's a little bit therapeutic for me so this is five enjoyed the show. Thank you Jodi. Arias is a curious polarizing horrible figure in pop culture. So I'm sure you're wondering. How does somebody like Chris who lost so much in his life has impacted by her actions so much feel about her today? You know it's it's interesting how I feel because now you know at first you just angry and you want to hurt her. You know what I mean. You WanNa get back. Somehow you know I think that's the natural human response to such an evil thing but over time I realized I'm a spiritual person and I realized I have to forgive her. You know not for her for me If I don't forgive her than Jodi areas will forever have power in my life and then my heart my soul and if I can forgive her I can neutralize. Cut the thread between Jodi and I for the rope right. There's this wrote this emotional energetic rope. And and she she. Has this wrote around my emotions around my heart. And it's always GonNa be there unless I can forgive her and so very early on you know. It didn't happen overnight. But very early on I was able to just neutralized that and forgive her for what she had done. And Send Stan. You know it's interesting because today I I have. I actually have compassion for her You know I went from anger and hatred to a place where I could forgive her. Like I don't ever want to hear about you. See you know. Just just be gone. You know like I forget it. You're forgiving but now it's like I do. I have great compassion for her because she has to live with this. You know I mean. She's in prison for the rest of her life. She has to keep this story. She has to continue to live the lies in an effort to hopefully maybe somehow some crazy way. Get Out of jail at some point. She can't own it and then now we said we'd only focus on travis is like a C. but I guess in some ways jody's leaving one behind too. I mean think about it you know I had a friend and in the UK who interestingly became friends with somebody who lived they worked in the jail. All of this trial and stuff in this person that worked in jail shared this list of things that Jodi had just purchased or was wanting to purchase from the store in the jail but she was buying anti-fungal Crane her athlete's foot she was buying Danja. Some sort of dandruff shampoo for her hair or head. She was buying something for her her. Herbie's she had herpes like a fever blisters. Something on a lip. You know like literally. She's falling apart separated from the world and she has to live with the fact that she's one of the most notorious.

"Jody then started a public feud with Nancy Grace. And here's how that unfolded. While jody was jail she became very close with one of her cellmates. A woman named Donavan Bering Donovan was slated to get out and once she did JODI S. Donovan would run a twitter account for her from behind bars. And Donovan agreed. So jodie dictate the contents of the tweets and one of the people. She wanted to go toe to toe with. Was Nancy Grace. Jody refer to her as an disgrace and began provoking her on twitter at one particular news. Segment Nancy accused jody of giving the finger to the camera in court. Jodi back on twitter and said Actually Nancy that finger was for. You have a nice day jody's follow has doubled tripled quadrupled daily and in addition to attacking. Nancy shelter went after one Martinez. Who is the man who is prosecuting? Her in one tweet. She said those afflicted with Little Man Syndrome taint society's perception of genuinely good men who happened to be vertically challenged so it's no surprise that this kind of cat and mouse game that Jodi was playing with the media exploded in the form of even more news coverage people could not believe the balls on this chick especially because she was so clearly in obviously guilty. So jodie had already been a media darling in the almost four years since Travis's murder but whatever happened prior would pale in comparison to the coverage of Jodi Arias taking the stand in her own defense. Jodi testified for eighteen days and she was asked to explain everything from the former couple. Sex Life to their mormonism. She said that Travis had a preference for anal sacs. Because it wasn't as severe of a violation of the Mormon Doctrine. Jody also said that Travis was emotionally and physically abusive to her. She told a story claiming that he choked to the point of her passing out. And for this reason that Jodi was terrified of Travis when he attacked her so brutally for dropping his camera when Jodi was questioned about certain details about the crime. She said she couldn't remember and she was a quote unquote fog. Her claim was that she was in a state of post traumatic Amnesia which is so convenient for her. One of the stories Jodi told on the stand related to the day of her baptism and remember Travis was baptized. Her and Chris spoke that day of the baptism and then they went back to Chris and his wife Skies House. She tells the story about how they left. The baptism were travis baptized her. They went back to Chris. Sky Uses House Travis. Took her into a room locked? The door RIPTA clothes off and sodomized her. You know it's like come on. You know like just insanity their relationship to that point at that point you know. I believe it's possible but I don't believe that they were having sex at that point I really have a hard time believing that Travis. Would you know baptize her with the hopes of marrying her in the Morning Temple You know while at the same time. They're engaging in in in in sex and you know I just don't think that's true. I think that the I I certainly don't I certainly disbelieve. Jodi story like that was just an insane story. She made that up to turn the Mormon population or the Christian against the image of the jurors. 'cause a lot of there's a lot of Mormons in in Arizona And obviously that were that were believers. Maybe some other Christians on the jury so she was that was just her effort to kind of paint. Jerry and Chris meet a fascinating observation about the kind of storyteller. That Jodi is. She tells the story on the stand of coming to Travis House running up the stairs barging into his room and she saw him masturbating on his bed to a current out photograph of a little boy and Spiderman or superman underwear. Well that obviously first of all stupid freaking story right we have the Internet and if somebody wants to look at Porn. They're gonNA sit at their desk and look at porn and do whatever else that they're going to do well but her story is no travis. Took the time to print out this picture of a little boy in Spiderman or superman underwear then he takes over to was bad and he's kneeling on his knees and doing what he's doing but she said he was doing disgusting. Vile nonsensical story. Well here's the The the part of truth. That was in that story. Jody was at my house one day and my son was in Spiderman or superman underwear and he was taking photographs of him and Jodi has those pictures on her hard drive right there on her hard drive and they were found by the by the prosecution. So that's how Jodi she'll take something from real life and then show extrapolate and at all of these nonsensical. Bs Points of of you know hurting the story lines that are completely and totally manufactured but think about the irony of that she say here's Travis Alexander with a picture of a boy and a superhero underwear on his bed in the real story. Is She's the one who not only you know. Took that picture but have that picture on her hard drive so just another interesting side notes. So a big part of the trial and something that can't be overlooked are the phone conversations that were recorded and played for the jury.

"One main priority for the defense was of course to make sure. Jodi was spared the death penalty if she were to be convicted. Because remember Jody's Defense Attorney Jennifer. Wilmot was brought in specifically for this purpose so during her opening statement she acknowledged that yes. Jodi killed Travis but said that there were very specific reasons. Why Jodi didn't they claim. That Travis had pressured jody and having sex with him. Every kind of sex that you can think of Jennifer opening statements were then concluded and the prosecution called their first witness Maria Hall. You might remember Marie Hall from Part One. We also went by Mimi. Remember her. She is the one who is joining Travis on that trip to Cancun with Chris and his wife Sky. She was the one you know. They admitted immoral singles event and Travis was interested in dating her and she completely disputed. Jody's claim that Travis was ill-tempered. She said Travis never lost control of his emotions never as his voice and was always sweet and made her feel safe and as the trial barreled forward more witnesses were called. The prosecution played audio recordings that were collected throughout the investigation. These included the initial calls. Were jody offered the please any help that she could? And were also the ones where she denied. Seeing travis for months and these recordings she lies so effortlessly because as we know. Jodi was now not denying killing Travis. The argument she was making. Now was that Travis's slang was justified. And let's pretend for a moment that we're in fantasy land and that Travis is killing. Did play out as jody said. What kind of innocent person not only doesn't call the police but also feigns concern and helpfulness when the police contacts them during the investigation? It just really doesn't look good for Jodi right now but back to what you said on that. I call Jodi unsolicited. Offer up information about how strong Travis was stating that. She was shocked that anyone had been able to overpower him. I think what you said. That super interesting is saying that she was telling the police officer. I can't believe someone could overpower him. And it's almost like pumping herself up in a way because like strong. How did someone do it? And it's like she knows she did it. I don't think superwoman. Like a really really like a narcissistic sort of like. Let me toot my own horn sort of thing. She's like setting the stage for her own. Victory exactly be because remember the the defense that she was going to be using at this point was that she wasn't even there right at this point in the phone call. Are there? Testifying witnesses were called in the form of Heather Connor. The Mesa Police Department fingerprint examiner. She took the jury photos at the prince at the scene. Explaining how the bloody palm print on the wall contain a mixture of Travis and JODI DNA. The medical examiner took the stand and then walk the jury through. Travis's injuries then the state's forensic firearms expert took the stand. She examined the bullet casings found at the scene as well. As the bullet lodged in Travis's cheek the bulletin casing had come from a Winchester Twenty five caliber handgun. Remember what we learned in last week's episode at the home of Jody's grandparents was burglarized and of the few items taken. Her Grandfather's twenty five caliber handgun was one of them however it was during the trial. That jodie's defense told a different story about where the gun used in Travis's murder had come from Jodi had founded and Travis's room while they were fighting and according to jody she said that after Travis attacked her in the bathroom dropping the camera. She ran to his closet to try to escape their on top shelf. She found Travis's gun and that's what she shot him with. No emphatically unequivocably travis. Alexander did not own a gun not a big gun not a small gun. No Don's he dared shoot. Sometimes some of US would go out together and go shooting but he always always always borrowed you know he just used. The gun showed up. You never had a gun. And so Jodi told that preposterous story of running around and around and around and finally you know climbing up Travis's custom closet and grabbing the gun out of the holster that he kept in the top of his closet. It's like come on so no that was all. Of course you know ally like ninety nine percent of the rest of the things he said no he never owned a gun. The next witness to make a splash in court was Ryan Burns. Y'All remember Ryan Burns from our previous episodes. He was the newest love. Interest of Jody's following. Travis who is also a CO worker of Travis and Jodi. They were all friends at prepaid legal. He was also jody's alibi. She first claimed that she was on the way to see Ryan when trousers being killed of course now. It's all gone to shit now that she admitted to having killed Travis in quote unquote self defense. So this means that Jodi would have gotten to Ryan's House in less than twenty four hours for when she killed Travis in self defense. And here's what Ryan said on the stand. Let's see for account and behavior aligns with Ryan Story Ryan testified that Jodi was late arriving at his Utah home on June fifth. Two Thousand Eight. The day after travis was murdered and her excuse was that she got loss in stopped to rest. She took a nap in her car. Ryan was also surprised that when he greeted Jodi when she finally did arrive the beautiful blonde had abruptly dyed her hair brown shocking and seemingly for no reason. She also had cuts in bandages on her hands. And Jody's excuse was that she cut herself or burned herself softball working at this Margarita vel restaurant and wide Rica and as we discussed previously during the investigation. The that no such restaurant existed and Ryan Burns continued. He detailed this heated make out session. They had the day following. Travis's slang and noted that Jodi kept trying to escalate the encounter pushing it further and further. Judy was giggling and flirting and being seductive which again does not look good for her. If he really killed Travis in self this traumatic experience. How do you explain her? Lack of reaction the following day the prosecution presented witness after witness in the form of receipts from the rental car that Jodi used to travel the two thousand eight hundred thirty four miles from why Rica to Arizona and then to Utah to see Ryan Burns. Was the Perry Mason moment where where Martinez Walk. The court rooms three. Jody GAC can Situation you know. She got a couple of gas cans from her ex boyfriend. Daryl and then she bought another gas cam and Martinez had figured out all the math and the mileage and he found her bank statements. And you had receipts. And he's strong her up on the stand. I mean it was literally a mic drop moment and I didn't see it happen live. I don't know why but I was. I was in this little private room on the back side of the courtroom. I now I can't even remember why I was there but I happened to be that ring back there right after Martinez had this. You know career making moment on live national television and he came back into the Stream. I've actually never told this story before. But he came back into the little room and he was like you know seventeen year old kid that just won the championship game. I mean he was jumping around and and I can't even repeat what he was saying because he was dropping the F on. I gotta I gotta I mean just so fired up because it was and to his you know defense. It was a pretty cool moment and he did a great job of stringing her up on you basically proved that you know. She had more gas cans but she said then she said she did and he had the gas receipt the proven that she failed them all up and for those. That aren't really familiar with the whole story. You know she needed enough gas to get through the desert and go from LA TO UTAH. You know without having to pull over for gas. But she wasn't using her debit card or being seen on a on a surveillance camera the gas station between Phoenix between Mesa in Utah or she was going to hook up with lion. Burn so anyway. Those are the moments that really stand out to me and remember all the while during the trial there's intense media coverage that continues to top the headlines. And here's the kind of stuff that they were fixated on at one point. Jodi had said that she had been pregnant and miscarried during the trial. Then remember the woman that she said. She had fallen in love with in jail. Jody thought this woman was her life partner and she was so sure she'd be acquitted that they were planning to have a baby together. When Jodi got out of prison she even had a male Fred lined up to donate sperm..

"Jody's trial was fast approaching and the various media coverage created a climate that was very polarizing so people love jody or they hated jody. They sympathize with her or they condemned her. She was a walking contradiction. A woman teeming with sexual energy. Who also wanted to be a mormon a DOE eyed softspoken woman who regardless of motive was admitted killer at least according to our third version of events so naturally the media geared up to meet the demand of the masses and covering this trial. Jodi Arias was the ultimate click bait a super villain designed to draw eyeballs in ratings CNN and true TV or access to cover the trial similarly in fashion of OJ would be a courtroom saga unfolding in real time celebrity talking heads and commentators like Dr Drew Pinski. Nancy grace weighed in on the standing of the case frequently. And many compare this media circus to that of Casey Anthony and her trial in. This of course begs the question. What was the draw? What was it about this case and if you look back at other cases that elicited a media circus like this one. There hasn't been a case quite like it. There hasn't been one as provocative as this one. And there hasn't been one that had the documented sexual exploitations displayed in the evidence. The way it did in this case and no one had ever seen anything like it so like we mentioned finally more than three years after Travis. Murder the trial of Jodi Arias commenced on January second of two thousand twelve. Yeah it was very surreal watching it and I watched it almost. Every day you know would have certainly been the exception. I did not watch the entire day but yeah it's like I'm watching this on national television almost round the clock and it was like and it didn't stop with the child. You know 'cause you're watching the trial and then you gotta watch all the H. L. shows. You're watching all of the and you just just absurd and ridiculous but It was very taxing. It was very emotional. You know I dealt with some anger as you see. People are Jodi and the defect Lying about Travis and you know sometimes I would cry Realizing that this isn't this isn't entertainment. This is this is my buddy. And he'd gone and thinking about those last few moments of his life and this woman that he once upon a time love is our barrick savagely taking his life you know and how our swayed and how the trade now can choose to must've been. Jodi sat at the defense table. Her Blonde bombshell persona was no more. She now had brown hair and banks. She wore glasses and collars button up to her chin and she looked like an adult dress for reform school. In Kid's clothes if you will her her defense attorney Nurmi and then I forget the other woman's name the other attorney's name was Jennifer Wilmot Jody's death penalty attorney. She was short. She was a very short woman. And if you look in the trial back watch videos. When she's sitting next to Jodi Jodi Paul. She's above average hyper woman. I can't remember what five eighty nine something like that. They got this special chair for her it. They had lowered. How Office Chair? It's got that little lever. You can go up or down. They had her chair purposely and throughout the entire trial lower down to the lowest that it could be and even though she was significantly taller than her female attorney shooting were fat far below her in the trial and all that was for optics so these optics that Chris referring to he's talking about making Jodi looks small. Look Meek look harmless look innocent and that's what they were trying to achieve not only with their close not only their hair but with her stature next to this attorney she's much lower making her look tiny defenseless. The prosecution's opening remarks included visual elements that included photos of the crime scene. And the hours leading up to IT I. There were the naked photos that Travis. Jodi they were very matter of fact. Jodi lying on the bed with a closed mouth smile very naked very confident. Very sexual and flirtatious. Then the photos made it clear that Jodi was given the camera and there are photos of Travis. His is excited on the lens of the camera as jody. The aspiring photographer took pictures of him. Next came the crime scene photos and the contrast between how the sexual and playful photos juxtaposed against the gory crime scene photos. This no doubt added to the shock value. Just another one of those moments in the trial to just shocked. Everybody is when when Juan Martinez for reference Juan Martinez. The prosecutor in this case without warning anybody in the courtroom without warning traffic siblings. Nobody he throws the photo out of Travis Dead Body. You know next. Jay Wide Open Body starting to decompose purple and and and white color. And you know people. I tried so hard not to see that image and he shocked you know the courtroom through that up there and if I'm not mistaken there wasn't a movie action you know and it was just was really like a TV moment and then In the family was mortified saw that moment you remember that there was just audible. Gasps because they had bought some of them had not seen that photo and then work hard to stay away from being the photo prosecutor Martinez. Summarize the various stories that Jodi told the law enforcement during the investigation in pointed out. How the story morphed and changed over time to make her seem innocent is if she was simply throwing things against the wall to see what would stick before. Finally settling on self defense is the motive next. The state port over Travis's many injuries prosecutor. Martinez said the following. There were three different ways. Alexander could have received a death blow. He was shot. He was stabbed in the heart and his throat was slit from ear to ear. As he was nearing the conclusion of his opening argument prosecutor. Martinez played a video portion of one of Jody's media interviews. In which you said Mark my words no jury will convict me. He closed a statement. He looked at the jury and he urged them to in fact mark. Jody's words the defense followed with their opening statement and their strategy was to portray Jodi as a battered emotionally abused woman who is forced to satisfy the deviant demands of her tyrant lover. They plan to paint travis as a pedophile as an abuser. As a terrible person but there was one problem with that based on the evidence which included sexual photos recordings in text messages. It didn't seem as if travis was the aggressor nor was he forcing jody to do anything. In fact Jodi was the one who seemed to be the catalyst for most of their documented sexual escapades in the vast.

"And when Jody Won? Her prize is a Christmas stocking full of goodies and a Turkey dinner for herself in her cellmates. The judges of this competition were sheriff. Joe Arpaio who is a controversial man? Known as America's toughest sheriff than the other judges was some guy dressed up as elvis and then another do dressed up as Santa. You literally can't make this shit up and if you know anything about Maricopa County. This is par for the course. Sheriff Joe is the guy who made inmates where pink he served Green Baloney so everybody would spend money in the commissary lot- lots of people died under his watch. That's a whole nother story back. Jodi she's also doing things like selling her artwork prior to the trial. Jodi sold four pieces including a drawing of Frank Sinatra for one thousand seventy five dollars she sold on Ebay. Many pieces were drawings of notable people including Sketch Grace Kelly and she continued to sell our after she was convicted. Jodi was behind bars rumors about her love life in jail. Were also on the news front and Center and reports. That Jodi was now dating a woman in jail were circulating and while the news was turning out click content on Jodi Arias. Her defense team was at work filing motions. The I was a request asking for jody to be able to represent ourselves in our own defense. The judge granted the request as long as her public. Defenders stayed on the case to aid her as Advisory Council. Jody's defense shifted their focus to what evidence they call on during the trial. Could HELP JODY's case? So jodie would be represented by public defenders Victoria Washington and Kirk Nurmi and remember Kirk Nurmi's named because it'll be important later so one of the first things they did was attempted to enter some letters between Jodi and Travis into evidence and these were ordinary letters. These were letters that Jodi claimed Travis Center prior to his murder that contained explicit material. Now in these letters. Jodi claim that Travis admitted to being a pedophile. So obviously this is shocking. When anyone hears that word it's shocking especially because a big part of the public draw into this case was this aspect of mormonism combined with the sexually explicit nature of Travis and Jodi is relationship as well as the sexual photographic evidence that we all know about so. The world's already can't look away soon. Throw accusations of pedophilia. It was like adding fuel onto an already blazing fire. And there's one more thing that you need to know about these letters. They explicitly mentioned the son of First Degree.

"In part one of the series we gave you a never before. Seen glimpse into the relationship between Travis Alexander and his friend turn girlfriend turned secret girlfriend Jodi Area S in part two. We took you through the investigation. In the evidence that led to jody's arrest the bizarre characteristics of the case that caught the media's attention now in part three. We're going to take you through the trial that seduced consumed in horrified. The Nation Jody's trial lasted four months. And she testified for eighteen days or going to delve into the details that stood out to us as well as the events. That impacted are first degree connection. Chris Hughes in this trial there was a mountain of physical and circumstantial evidence against Jodi and the defense grasping at straws pulled out. All the stops which included shocking fabricated lies told about Travis Alexander accusations that further destroyed his grieving friends and family so when we left off jody of and taken into custody by the Police Department in why Rica California. She was then indicted for first degree murder then in early September. Two thousand nine. Jody was extradited from California to Maricopa County Arizona to face charges. She pleaded not guilty and with that the state began to prepare. The case against her early on there are whispers at the Maricopa County Prosecutor's office planned to seek the death penalty against Jodi and that was in fact confirmed late in two thousand eight which raised the stakes in this already high profile case even more and while there were as copious evidence. Jodi had one thing working in her favor. She was stunning. The camera loved her and she loved the camera to jody was offered media interview after media interview after media interview and she granted almost every request at every interview. Jodi was dolled up and spoke softly and she smiled. And honestly if you had seen these interviews before you knew of the evidence against her you very well by believe her she told the Arizona Republic which is the newspaper and Phoenix quote. God knows I'm innocent. I know I'm innocent. I had nothing to do with this murder. I would never hurt him. He was my friend and during that interview and asked. Jody refused to discuss how she refused the DNA and photographic evidence against her then. Jodi sat down for an interview with inside edition. There she said no jury is going to convict me because I am innocent and you can mark my words on that. No jury is going to convict me but in the same interview. She said publicly for the first time that she was at the house when Travis Alexander was attacked by two intruders so this is a second and brand new account of events that Jodi is introducing because remember initially. Jody denied being in Arizona at all and she said she hadn't seen travis for months prior to his murder and now she's not only backpedaling out of that story but she's saying that Travis had been killed by two intruders telling no one about it after she escaped her life in witness travis get murdered so she doubled down until the same story in an interview with forty eight hours saying quote. I saw two other individuals a man and a woman in the bathroom and they're both coming towards us. I was terrified. I was scared for my life. A really loud pop. The next thing I remember I was lying next the bath. Tub and Travis was screaming at that point I sort of was just trying to come around and kind of Orient Myself to what was going on. Jodi also said that at one point the man pointed the gun at her pulled the trigger but nothing happened with the gone. It misfired so thought plant. I grabbed my purse. She said which was on the floor at that point and I ran down the stairs out of there and I left Travis. I pushed past him. Meaning the killer and has gun and I just didn't look back so Jodie said she kept driving and never called the police in when asked why she left the scene and didn't tell anyone she said quote. I think there was a naive belief that I could pretend like. It didn't really happen. So Travis was murdered on June fourth of two thousand eight but JODIE's trial didn't start until January of two thousand twelve. That's essentially three and a half years in which Jodi was seducing the media and a variety of ways here's just an example just over two months after she was sent to Arizona to face charges in December of two thousand eight jody entered in the jails American idol caroline contests and this was for inmates at the Maricopa County jail. She sang o holy night and she won beating out fifty other inmates..

This is that you took 'cause they're saying she left so another thing that Jodi was confronted with was the burglary at her grandparents house. Where that gun? That twenty five caliber pistol was quote unquote stolen in that random burglary twenty one so. I didn't even know that there were guns until my grandparents reported at their houses was also. I don't remember. Did you take the gun shows you that you reported on twenty five just happens to be saying caliber weapon used to kill twenty five dollars.

"Was responsible and summer in total disbelief. That it's her. Despite the theories and the conflicting thoughts about Jodi there were being passed around Travis as social circle. The investigator stay focused on the evidence and days after Travis was found an autopsy was conducted and the characteristics of his injuries seemed to reveal that this attack on Travis was personal and fueled with rage. The bullet travis had been hit with struck him near his eyebrow and ended up in his cheek. But it didn't kill him. What was officially determined to be? The murder weapon was a knife as travis had been stabbed a staggering twenty seven times in the chest and back but travis ultimately bled to death from the wound to his neck which had been cut from ear to ear under his chin. The medical examiner determined that the small twenty five caliber bullet likely grazed Travis's brain incapacitating him but not killing him. It's at this point. That Travis likely tried to fight back tried to defend himself but of course he's disoriented. He's been shot in the face but this moment where he's disoriented gives his killer a window of opportunity to strike with the knife. We all know that stabbing is an up close and personal way to commit a murder in the sheer number of stab wounds definitely reflected an intimate and personal connection. The autopsy also revealed information that would be key in answering a very important question travis had been discovered on June ninth but when had he actually been killed so they needed to know when the murder actually occurred so they could establish a timeline so based on the level of decomposition the E. believes that Travis had been dead for five days before being discovered meaning that he was murdered on June fourth. So the police pull offices phone and email records and as expected June. Fourth was the last day that he had communicated with anyone with the final call being made late in the afternoon. They learn from Travis's colleagues that he had missed a business. Call eight that same evening so now the question is where was Jodi on the fourth and remember the two of them were living in different states. So how'd she even been in Arizona at the time of the murder? Now remember the first time that the police made contact with Jodie areas following Travis's murder is when she reached up to them offering assistance in any way she could offer it good. I just got a method to talk to me about some fun comprehensive time. I have a really good friend of Travis her so far. I heard that he passed away with a lot of blood. I heard that Have Roommate found him or people are now on that call. Jodi said that she hadn't seen travis for months citing April of two thousand eight the last time she'd been in Arizona to see him. She referred herself as quote. A good friend of Travis admitted that they had been seeing each other as boyfriend and girlfriend for over five months but had officially broken up in June of the previous year. Which was two thousand seven? She said that the break-up was attributed to quote some jealousy issues on the part of both of them. She also admitted that after they broke up they continued to have a sexual relationship but kept it quiet from people they knew. She said she had last spoken to Travis the day before the murder on June third when Astra Jodi had been on the day of the murder. She tells them that she had been on her way to see her new flame. And of course that's Ryan Burns as we discussed so the police track down Ryan Burns in West Jordan Utah. And he tells them something interesting. Ryan explained that. Jodi showed up for their visit on June fifth. Which is the day after the murder? She was driving a white rental car. He said he didn't notice anything being off about her disposition but he did notice that she had some bandages on her hands. He also noted that she wore long sleeves on days when it was extremely hot when Ryan asked her about the injuries she told conflicting stories. About how the wounds occurred. She told Ryan that they were burns from working at a Margarita. Vel restaurant back home and why Rica now. This is strange because there's no such restaurant that exists in. Why Rica at all and in fact at the time of the murder. Jodi work at a restaurant called Ramos so all the police are piecing things together and tracking down evidence across multiple states. What exactly is jody doing well. Jody was essentially leaning into this role of the devastated widow. She was posting photo galleries and tribute to Travis on her my space page one in particular titled in Loving Memory of Travis and she also sent flowers to members of Travis's family. There were two services Travis One of them was just a memorial service Arizona for his Arizona. Flan colleagues and Church family and Jodi actually attended that one that would happen. I and I didn't go for a few reasons. I can't remember what they are now and Jodi showed up and she played the role. Because of course this is before she was arrested but she was playing the role The morning widow. You know like as if she was the ex girlfriend. Oh my gosh what was mean and so terrible by boyfriend has been killed and so. I've heard some stories second and third hand if some interesting things that went on there but you know I wasn't there so I can't say for sure but people were just so aggravated that she was there. Because as you hear from the nine one one call and all of Travis friends. We all pointed to Jodi instantaneously so like Chris said he didn't attend the first service for Travis in Arizona but he did attend.

"On last week's episode we shared with you the beginning middle and end of Travis in Jodie's relationship. You got the back story you got all of the romantic sort of trappings that drew them together at this point. The police are starting their investigation. At the beginning. Travis's bodies been discovered there at square one. So where did they start when the homicide investigators started working on Travis's case their investigation was a two pronged approach? The detective speak with the friends and family of the victim in an effort to smoke out initial leads and in tandem. The forensics experts are focusing on the science of the scene. All of Travis's friends were pointing the finger at Jodi but they needed corroboration from physical evidence and as we explained in our last episode. This was a bloody violent crime scene. There was a lot of physical evidence be collected and for this reason it dazed process scene and remember their blood bloodstains all over the bathroom. Then there was the bloody palm print on the wall and blood all over the sink and everything needed to be tested and of course the assumption was that Muslim blob was trances but it seemed like there was clearly a violent struggle. It's possible that Travis attacker sustained injuries as well crime scene. Investigators also found a hair and a small latent print in blood near the entrance of Travis's bathroom. Then there's a twenty five caliber bullet casing. The police couldn't find any firearms in the home. The gun must have been taken from the scene when the killer left in the home every drawer and cabinet was looked into cushions were lifted up and looked under every nook and cranny of that house was searched and their diligence paid off when they made a strange discovery in the homes. Wander Room so in the washing machine. They found what sheets a towel that had been soaked in bleach and a brand new cannon camera all right so what's the significance of this camera. The camera was waterlogged and can turn on in. The file card was soaked as well but the police hoped they would be able to extract data from the camera anyways. So this camera being destroyed obviously seems deliberate. So what was Travis's killer trying to hide? You know it's kind of ironic and poetic in away. This person seem to be trying to wash away all this evidence literally by throwing the camera in the laundry and police had no idea if they could salvage anything from the camera and only time will tell so now if you recall from last week. Travis's best friend. Chris was in Mexico when he received the news about his best friend's murder and he was on that trip. That Travis was supposed to join him on so that begs the question when he gets home from this trip. What was happening so there was a few things going on. When we got back from Cancun I wanted to shut down her her social outlet. You know I wanted to protect my friends and my colleagues who have been done will by her namely Ryan Burn Ryan Burns Jody's new flame. Who IS LIVING IN UTAH? Naza reminder? It's Ryan Burns. Who Jodi said. She was visiting the very next day after Travis's murder when she initially talked to the police over the phone she was with Ryan Burns in Utah that Israel by Jodi had already set her sights on this new young charisma matic rising star and then prepaid legal now legal shield and Ryan Burns with the guy and she knew that she was on the outs with Travis and now she wanted another meal ticket and Ryan was on his way to six figures plus he was Again the new budding superstar. So I remember calling Ryan and saying. Hey listen don't talk to Jodi. Just you know like did this. And he was like he could not believe it. We've had multiple conversations about that phone call since then and this is kind of some of the things that he said over time and so he said out of respect for you I I was hearing you and I and I was going to do my best to try to stay away from her. But he's like dude. I'm a psych major. You know like if what you're saying is true. She killed him and then that night she was rolling around with me in my bed. And he's like. There's no way like no way that she and he literally was telling me this after time there's no way she was laughing and Gideon being silly. And there's just no way and I go by and listen. I'm telling you she did so understandably at First Ryan had a difficult time wrapping his head around the possibility that this hot check. He was just rolling around in bed with could have done this to their friend but Ryan eventually started coming around to the possibility that it was true Well she was kind of M. I. A. and she she turned off the phone and she wasn't returning my calls and my tax. And Oh my Gosh Ryan Darts. Because she did it. She did it until he was like. Oh okay okay. Then I said to him I said listen if you give her the cold shoulder. Let me just make a prediction? You've just had a cold shoulder. You start acting weird at all to her and she's GonNa turn the sex on just watch. She's because that's our only tool she's GonNa have to turn the sex. He didn't know what the thank you know. Because he trusted his gut and they trust just his formal education. And he's like no this way he's a murderer. I would've known I mean I spent time with her and there's no way Ryan has done with the shock and awe realizing that she's been rolling around with a murderer hours after she had killed our good friend Travis and who knows if she should shouldn't have blood under her fingernails. You know the just the thought of that so creepy but then he said He said to me that she he goes. You know what you're absolutely right. He said I started acting weird. I was putting off a calls and she immediately started with the sex off the specs X. thing Ooh so on the heels of his best friend's murder. We wondered if Chris felt compelled to contact you directly to confront her. I really didn't have. I didn't have anything to say to her. You know I mean we just kind of we were in this suspended animation. This kind of a pause. We needed her to at least he arrested Because even though I felt ninety nine point nine nine nine nine nine percent certain others still that point. Those are one percent that May Have Been Possible. Story really needed it to just kind of play out but no and actually one of your listeners reached out to me on facebook and asked me if I did want to lash out at her gift from my mind stream at her and it was like now I never spoke with but interestingly there where people all around me who did reach our who were making contact and I can't remember if my brother was one of them but around about this time she was actually talking to jody about the possibility of her renting a room. And it's how like staying his basement today. I could have been an interesting plot. Twist so this emotional. Chaos and turmoil within Travis's Group of friends. Some are sure that Jodi.

"Roi will welcome today's episode of killing time. The editor LINK TIME SHOW KILLING TIME. The official after show of the first degree. So I think for today's episode all our listeners. WanNa know what the is going on in Alexis link letters apartment right now because you have had quite an interesting corentin experience? Yeah there's a lot happening over here first of all. I took on a really ambitious project in renovating my bathroom. So there's that in disaster second of all I was hanging out just minding my own business the other day and I looked at my window and there was a lizard. Okay a little lizard. I was like Oh shit. A Lizard never seen one of these at my apartment before or even outside my apartment in my neighborhood so I run to the kitchen to try to find something to get it in. There's in my kitchen. A giant Lizard like the first one was little. This one was like over a foot long and I'm like Holy Shit and I was like that's the same lizard and I run back and it wasn't. It was a second lizard and I ran to get something else for that one and then they were gone so the little one I got out of the apartment at some point but the big one is still here and I saw it yesterday and again I tried to run something to grab took to cover it so I let it outside in then it was gone again and then it was in my bathroom and it climbed into one of my cabinets and then I I shut the cabinet. It was like okay. I can't shut it in there. Whatever I open the cabinet with an eye shut the bathroom door and I put a towel under it okay. It's at least contained into the bathroom right but I just painted the floors little lizard footprints on like Shit. It's like the worst time because renovating the bathroom. There's pains everywhere. It's all wet still and I'm running in. They're trying to get the lizard. The paint's still wet. I'm putting paint all my apartment because it's all over my feet. I'm like this is a nightmare so now I locked it in there overnight. I was like once the paint strike and go get it but now it's gone again so I don't know where the lizards got not in the bathroom anymore. Now now apparently this lizard because you posted a video of it. I looked it up. It's called a southern alligator lizard which I've never seen one of those in my entire life before but they apparently are common and I've seen other people posting about it and I'm wondering what's going on with the quarantine whether the lizards are coming down from the mountains going. Hey wait a minute. Those people are all gone. Let's check out those weird structures they built in the now. They're just going into people's apartments. Yeah I don't know but he lives here and everything. I Google like how to get rid of Lizard and it's like every keep it. They eat bugs. And I'm just like no no no I mean anybody that hasn't seen this video that you've posted. I think you need to post it again in the first degree facebook group just in case. Somebody missed your story yeah. This lizard is huge. It looked feet long. It also does look like an alligator it literally looks like a baby alligator except for the way that it walks is very sneak lake. Look it looks like a snake with legs and it is. It's as long as a mid sized snake with lakes. Yes yeah and billy sends me a link. And it's like they bite. They have a power powerful jaws unlike excellent excellent. Here's the thing that is just so funny to me about the whole situation. So lexuses Alexis is quarantining yourself in her apartment and sometimes lacks just has the worst luck with everything and it just seems like most things and this is just a situation that seems like anything that could go wrong will go wrong. Like you're sending me pictures and videos of your home renovation and it looks like your apartment has just been bulldozed down. No it's bleak and then I'm like hitting myself in the ankle with a hammer like I'm just like hammers are falling on my feet. I'm just the worst person for this kind of project because I'm just really clumsy not like a precision person and now there's lizards in here. I'm scared to like. Put my hands in drawers. I'm just it's just horrible. There's no there's no way to get rid of this lizard. It just is supposed to live. Nobody could live with something that large of a creature in their apartment. I if they are not like a Lizard Guy. They're like you know what brand with missed it with water in shoe it out is what it says. I'm like missed it with water and shoo it out of my apartment. It's like laser fast too. I'm like yeah I don't understand. Apparently the water is on it and then slow it down but the way that you're the way that your front door is in your apartment. It's just it's hard to do because there's so many twists and turns sort of in your apartment so well and then it. Lexus lives on a second floor. So once you get it out of your apartment would you have to do then throw it down a foot of stairs like yeah and also I don't know are aren't you supposed to like put it underneath something like a bowl or something like that. Yeah but I don't have anything big enough for that. There's a full-sized trash can lead to put on top of that and then try to move it around. Yeah I was thinking one of those one of those things that when you make a cake and then you put the Tupperware. They put the cake in. And then you have one that big. I don't have that kind of Amazon and it'll be here like two weeks. You would need a cake things for like a three hundred person wedding cake bowl that you would need for the size of the stupid blizzard. Well you know what I think. I think the point is probably moved because Alexis already named it. Seem is Liz. Oh name now that I've made it. I think I think he's going to get comfortable here. Yeah absolutely what if? What if this is the turning point of your life that you find your passion and your passion is Amphibians and then into lizards are generally reptiles? I think this is wrapped tile. He's the frog if it means her frogs. Whatever talent Stalla manders are in Fibia so certain like Lizard type creatures are in Philippians but not all of them? But yes reptile. I don't think that's going to happen because I'm like terrified to go into any room but anyways that's what's going on with me. How about you guys? You guys have any stories that I don't know honestly it's like instagram. We'll posted on our instagram story. To this lizard is just like unbelievable. Well there are. You said there will be no really Nali like an Australian. It looks like an Australian being like. The next thing you need is a spider that is like a foot in Diana those campaign criers from the Middle East clean we need. We need somebody to put over the Crocodile Hunters v. O over it crawling in your kitchen. I think that's what we need next or anybody. That is successfully booted one from their house before. Like what role did you use? That was that large and you need to have massive muscles to carry it out brain. Well I don't think it's the last I've seen of him or her. I think they're kind of a sexual or whatever they are. Uh so we will keep you posted on that I. Hopefully I don't lose a finger trying to eject this creature for my house. Let's face it something. Something battle happen. You'll definitely like definitely knock off on your of your fingers trying to get it out if you get if you get bit by it. You might get superhero powers though cool lizard power so think about that some Naughty Shit. You guys have until story now. Well though I mean the one good thing that I have done in the past couple of days I have convinced. Jared to learn. Some wind dances with me. Show that on instagram. That looked fine. It was really cute because stagecoach was supposed to be last weekend so as you know. Kinda bummed should've been gallivanting around the desert with a beer in my hand so I was like you know what we're gonNA put cowboy hats on. I'm GONNA teach them lime dance. Line dances and he is surprisingly very fast on his toes. Wow really very. He's very lead on his feet. He's very stocky Boehlke. Kind of guy that you wouldn't think could be yes. He's very nimble shots and he's very good at learning dance moves. Who would have thought? I know two years into our relationship and I'm like wow. I never knew that you were such a good dancer. He's good at everything I've been tempted to send them some pictures of my home renovations but wait till they're done. So you can impress. Jared you mean you didn't WanNa send the huge gigantic gaping hole in your bathroom. Guys ripped my medicine cabinet out of the wall so that was a really committed choice that I made Have you gotten anywhere on progress on it or no? Yeah it looks really good now also pinch well. It's good billy. What have you done in the recently? What all I keep thinking is that we would be packing for crime con right now. We'd see leaving tomorrow for Crime Con. We would be we would be tomorrow probe possibly in Epcot drinking around the world not GonNa do that so I think that's what I'm doing. I'm going to stock up by liquor cabinet and pretend that I'm going to drink around the world a epcot experience at my house. That's my that's my. That's what I'm planning on bomber. I didn't even think that that that I don't even know what good it is. Actually this is the only reason why keep track of the days? Because it's like oh I need to get put one we need. We need to get something out in a timely manner because we do week by Week. Ya It does a lot of a schedule though. We did. Try to record this over the weekend. And I'm like I need to do something in the weekdays to keep my weekdays moving. The outline wasn't done procrastinated until this morning. GotTa get him and do the work because I cannot get motivated to do anything. Nothing I mean. There's no way I could self motivate to do anything. Which is why I mean I am a procrastinator general. But this situation has definitely made my procrastination skyrockets. I'm like I want to do it until I really really Same well well. We can time time. Adapt eleven fifty two..

"So today's case takes us back to June fourth of two thousand eight the top songs on the radio where Lollipop by Lower. Wayne take a bow by RANNA and Viva La Vida by coldplay the sex and the city movie and Kung Fu Panda or selling out theaters and the setting for. Today's case is Mesa Arizona which is just east of Phoenix. The name Mesa is Spanish for tabletop or table land. The city of Mesa was founded in eighteen seventy eight by Mormons and the city continues to have a large Mormon population and included in that. Mormon population was a thirty year. Old Man named Travis. Alexander and Travis was well liked. He had tons of friends in lived. Nice House with two male roommates in Mesa and he worked for a company called prepaid legal services and had a deep interest in personal development and growth as well news focusing a lot of his time on becoming motivational speaker to in here to help us tell. This story and learn more about travis is his best friend. Chris Hughes you know I started a business with three legal services Back in nineteen ninety nine and one of the first people I recruited the join me was trying to Alexander and so how that work was we were both in a singles congregations. So this in the In the Mormon Church they have regular congregation just like every church but then they have Some singles congregations where people from eighteen to thirty that has not yet been married Regular Church everything's normal. It's just for single people so I was going church there. Travis's church there. He was the superintendent over the Sunday. School classes and I was a Sunday school teacher and one day I was teaching a lesson. I can't remember what it was on but he would go from class to class just to see that the teachers were doing a good job. Well I read a a poem called Father. Forget and then the book how to win friends and influence people by. I didn't name this poem I just ended the lesson by reading it. And then travis walks up to me and says stoddard forget how to win friends and influence people and I was blown away that he knew where that moment comes from. And I was like what I'm like. You read that stopping by totally Bro and so we hit it off instantaneously. Just an instantaneous connection. So that's how we met and then one day he said to me What do you do for work for a living and I joked and I said I dance? I'm a dancer. Have you ever heard of Chippendales? And you know he's to Ha- we a little laughing. There's no because I hear you do something with legal. I just WanNa know what it is that you do And I said well I don't WanNa get into it here at Church. But why don't we go to lunch? You know this week well. We ended up doing lunch. He's on love with legal. Show your prepaid legal. It's now it's called leadership. But I told him a little bit about it gave them A. Dvd invited him to a seminar. We're having that night. He showed up and signed up at the end of the night. And from that day forward we were best friends. We were business partners. You know we did. We did everything together and You know he's the outside of my own family. The best friend that I've ever had so as Chris mentioned he travis's friendship grew as their business relationship in Travis really thrived with prepaid legal services so prepaid legal services was having this retreat in Cancun. Chris his wife sky and their kids were already there and Travis invited a friend of his named Mimi to join him on the trip. Mimi and Travis were just friends but travis was really interested in more key liked me romantically. The two of them had met at a Mormon singles event and Travis was really looking forward to this trip as an opportunity to break the ice author right before the trip Travis went radio silent and it wasn't just me who hadn't heard from him. It seemed no one had. Mimi grew concerned and so did Chris. Who was in Cancun making plans for the group prior to Travis arrival? We had one this trip to go to Cancun Mexico sky and I and our nanny and our kids. We went in for eight days instead of just the four days so we were all already there and and. I'm trying to get all the trials because I want to put deposit down. You know to swim with the whale shirts and to see the pyramids and cheap the needs You know and all the rest and some of these deposits were were Nonrefundable so I'm blowing travis. Out You know. I'm calling him up China's Dude texting him leaving in messages. 'cause one of the messages that I left said. Hey t dog Bro. You better be dead. That's what I said because he wasn't calling me back and I was but I was joking. Obviously but I'm like damn where you do not call me back. Throw you better be dead. Meany was becoming more and more anxious about not being able to reach Travis. You'd think you'd be able to a day before leaving for Cancun. It's a big deal. She became so worried in fact that she decided to go over to his house to see what was going on with him so she knocked on the door of the home but was only met with silence. There was no answer. She became so worried that she called some mutual friends of theirs over to ask them to help her and come meet her at Travis's please handful of them arrive and they decided that they can actually get into the house through the laundry room and they make their way in so they learned that actually despite their knocking one of Travis's roommates was home in this guy's name was Zach Zach watching movie really loudly with his door close which is why he didn't hear their attempts to get inside the house. So Mimi Asak if he's seen travis he says No. He assumed that trump has already left for this Cancun trip and he hadn't seen him in days. This makes everyone's blood run cold because when they tried the door to Travis's room. It was locked that grabs the spirit of the master suite. He puts the key into the door and pushes it open. What's going on? I've friend of ours fit bedroom. We haven't heard from him for a while you think. He's dead Subaru Mate just went in there and lots of blood. I didn't know that I can give you the phone to someone who went in. Can Yes please. Oh Hi. What's going on? He He's dead. He's in his bedroom shower. How did this happen? Do you have any idea where you have no idea? Everyone's been wondering about him for his blood. So is it coming from his head. Did he go. It's all over the place Is there any weapons around? I don't know I not that I saw in the house there. How many how many are health right now. Okay threatened by anyone recently. Yeah the hidden ex girlfriend that's been bothering him and following him and flopping tires and things like that. And you know the ex-girlfriends man What four and you know. He's never reported it to the police. His her name is jody. And what's that door was pushed open. Everything changed there was blood everywhere as Zach. Move through the entrance to the bedroom. He could see blood on the walls. He turned into the bathroom and beyond the pools of blood all over the Tan Floor Tiles Zach saw his roommate Travis's lifeless body crumpled on the ground. It looks like you've been shoved into the clash. Our law enforcement arrived on scene in once they enter Travis's room. Here's what they saw. They walked in. They see blood. Everywhere including bloody palm print on the wall just outside the bathroom when they enter the bathroom again blood everywhere all over the sink pools of blood on the floor. One in the middle of the room in one at the doorway Travis's body had been stuffed into the shower. It seems as if he'd been rinsed off. Perhaps his killer attempted to wash away evidence. In while Travis was bloodied. It was hard to see what his wounds exactly were that being because there were so many and there was so much blood but one thing they could tell with. The naked eye is that travis had been dead in the shower for days. His fingers and toes were turning colors. He was beyond Rigor Mortis and he was beyond livermore.
