McVay in Better Mood, Says He's Better Coach With Stafford

"Story will bring back in. Involves these relationships in the nfl between coaching quarterback that we've talked about several times when you have that you know you got something special when the coach and the quarterback are on the same page when they kind of have that unity. You saw what. What tom brady. And bruce arians able to do right away You obviously see what you have in kansas. City greg's andy. Reid patrick mahomes these. These duos are very important. We thought maybe. Sean mcvay jared goff where we're going to be that power couple. They did get to a super bowl but then things broke up pretty quickly there. And sean mcvay is this guy that clearly is the excitable one out of the two right is that goes without saying so mcveigh. Listen to how he talks about how he feels about now having matthew stafford at his as his quarterback and he did this during a press conference to promote the super bowl in. La in the rams head coach. Let's just say gushed very heavy. Thank you seem like you're in a better mood aussies. You're damn right. I am so this guy He's a special guy. One of the best ways that i can describe him when you hear people that have been around him. There's a there's a known confidence where it when he walks into a room noah's field presence but he's got a great humility about himself at. Everybody loves being around him and he's one of those guys that is it true igniter makes everybody around him better. I feel like i can come up better. Coaching a few months that we've been able to spend together and we're looking forward to get things together. Sounds pretty excited about this new relationship. He's got about stafford and all he can bring in all he's already brought to the franchise what it means to him. I am going to go and i had a list the other day on the show of seventeen quarterbacks who could be hat or who could be on the move and out of all of those if i have to pick one. I'm going to go jimmy garoppolo. I believe san francisco's in a position. Right now where they have a really good thing going and they want to replace jimi g. since he's been injury prone i think you can get jimmy g. for cheaper than he's been whether he's caught you could sign up for cheaper free agent deal. He may want to go back to new england. Maybe bella jack doesn't want him but ryan pace eastern illinois guy also Fellow good-looking guy. Just like with trubisky could veer that way as well. So i'm going jimmy g. And as a close second maybe gruden gets rid of derek carr and the bears would trade for garrett car but those are my two if you force me to pick one. I'm going with jimmy garoppolo.

Can Tampa Bay Win A Second Straight Super Bowl

"Well in just his first season with the team brady has already brought a title to tampa buccaneers controlled. Much of last night's thirty one to nine super bowl win and brady is poised to keep winning saying after the game quote. We're coming back. You know that we do know it. And i personally love it shared. And how do you feel about is brady. Started his second dynasty in tampa skip out of his tour to detail. And if you made me say yes to say no. There's a reason why no team had repeated and sixteen years because it's hard to do and you see. Injuries are big part of this. So because we saw what happened to chiefs offensive line. They lose basically three starters and they're not the same team that they took to the super bowl the previous year. They're not even the same super bowl that would that finish the afc championship game. So injuries player key role in And plus a lot of things have to go well the injuries during the course of the season. I don't believe the pandemic. I think we're getting more and more vaccines arm and President biden was talking about last night. Say i expect the pike house for super bowl fifty six. Hopefully that's the case. Where is so fi here. Oh you're be out. I thought i'd be right over luma and plus get if you think about it. They got shack bags. A free agent. Labonte david i believe. They bite price themselves out of contracts tampa although they might be willing to take less money to come back to people. It's with jack man. Considering that he was an undrafted free agent and leave any money on the table of. Aren't they david that might be something dominant. So leonard fournette and tonio brown gronk. I believe a couple of those guys you can get back on the cheap but skipped the only have thirty guys on the contract for next year. The next is a that is forty two in the nfl their fifty three man roster only thirty the contract So who comes. Who goes is so hard to repeat because the turnover is so great now what we know right now for the most part. All the coaches are coming back. Tob old didn't get a job by relent. We didn't get a job and so for what we can see right. Now get the coaching staff. We'll be back in full. There was some speculation. That bruce arians if they won this one would would see the the head coaching to talk balls and maybe either being the background or walk into the sunset. I think this was such a headache experience for him at his age. He'd say i gotta take another shot. Hey could you remember. Meal did that and he later regretted he came. Back out of retirement ended up coaching kansas city. Yeah because he felt he made a decision out of emotion. That was the wrong decision. So maybe a fist back a couple of months but it's hard to repeat. There's a reason why there have only been in an full of teams now in the last thirty years. That's ever done it because it's so hard to cobb was dated. We did it and the patriots did it.

The GOAT Whisperer: The Man Who Lured Tom Brady To Tampa

"So greg first question. Where are you right now. I have met the media center for the super bowl which is in the tampa convention center. Kinda for all that around downtown tampa but is not quite busy here yet. So it's a little bit still kind of thought out. I'm sure in in forty eight hours. It'll be crazy here. Well greg sunday will be the first time that a super bowl is played in the home city of one of the two competing teams. What is the feeling in tampa right now. In the up to the game as you walk around drive around you feel a super bowl frenzy even in this pandemic couple days city is enjoying a run like it's never had. He had the stanley cup at world series in october. God and now. I think just making the boy. I would have been a big step for this team but see them win. Three road playoff games. And now be as you said in a super bowl in their own stadium. It's been a wild six months for tampa or to be sure we wanted to pick your brain a little bit about the guy who many people credit with building this bucks super bowl team. Gm jason light when he joined the bucks seven years ago. This team was more or less in disarray. How has he rebuilt it. I think he's done a very good job of drafting three touchdown. She'll back to this. First draft is fourteen. Taking mike evans been a pro bowl. Receiver has reset all the receiving records already. Big exclamation shows tied his own tampa bay record with his wealth reception for a touchdown this year. Tom brady just set the new fifteen two starting offensive linemen and their left tackle donovan smith and they're left guard alley pat and then really you look at the last three draft. That's defense has come. I think they have seven. Vincent starters that are from the last three drafts talent collectors. Were finding the right fifth buildings championship team. There's a veteran presence traded for jason pierre paul from the giants and hit on him and consumers thirty four and still a very high level the this is a good mix of young. It's really worth well. Even jason light was putting pieces into place. And you know sort of building the backbone of this team. This team wasn't doing particularly well and nfl. Owners of course are not known for their patients. So why did. The buccaneers stick with light. Even as this team continued to miss the playoffs year after year after year you go back to the end two thousand eighteen and then made the decision to fire dirk cutter coach dirk cutter. He is now officially relieved of his duties by the team. And in this statement. The buccaneers say that gm jason light will lead the new search. So that means light will get. I think in most situations they probably would have moved on from jason light his gm as well. He did really well in that he kind of pulled out an important card. And was there gateway to getting bruce arians. I gotta say jason's main reason. I came back in coaching and i knew how good of an evaluator was having worked with him. And we say we share the same vision workers in arizona in twenty thirteen adding when it came time for the bucks to be looking for a head coach. He kind of got them. In with bruce arians gave the bucks somebody that he knew and trusted. Having a head coach bruce. And the relationship that i have with him is it. I don't know if we'll ever be repeated. He's just such a unique guy. We have such a unique strong bond. That we we get along well. We even argue

"We were talking about it. It's just now that we're finding out about it. And i've been able to confirm that the official request has come in additionally. He has not spoken to shawn watson to the new general manager. Nickel who got the job over two or three weeks ago. He has not spoken to jack easterby. He has not had phone conversations with members that organization so when we talk about the of the nfl or the nfl the nba and players yielding their power. Here we go see the most flexible show watch their. It's tom now. The houston texans again will say that. They don't want to train to sean watching. They're not interested in trading. Sean watching but if the shawn watson is dug in as we think he is then they will trade to shawn watson and he's got that no trade so i don't think that the shawn watson can essentially dictate where he's going entirely but he's going to have some influence here if they want to trade in to a place he doesn't want to go he can always say no but i think he's going to be flexible and understanding. Who is the fact of the matter is he wants out of houston period. Whatever that so so shefty. What do we know if anything and if the answer is we don't know anything that's fine. Obviously what do we know about where he is interested in going. If he has a list do we know of any teams that are on it. You let me start by saying he wants out of houston. i think. that's at first and foremost right. And then if he's going to have his choice. I'm sure there are a lot of teams. Look chris mortensen was the very first person to link shawn.

"Lakers and the sixers play the game for the night last night. Lebron james lakers was there and of course. It was a night of solemn remembrance for many in philadelphia including joel embiid who was remembering kobe. Angie bryan with his custom shoes and it was a moment of silence for kobe. Philly native bellamy take into the third quarter with the sixers. Five with this very scary moments. Look gillette who go up and come down hard scary anyone be that but worst of all for embiid and it is lebron who makes the contact there and beat goes down hard and was in obvious pain afterwards. He said this you look at it a very dangerous player. Not guaranteed dining was may i would have probably been ejected. Maybe one way or another thankfully he came back and he was like fourth quarter. Pick it up a little over a minute. Left the lakers are down four. That's contagious. Caldwell pulled for three in the corner lakers within one lebron by the way had thirty four afterwards stop fifteen seconds to play. Lebron anthony davis yes. A at twenty three lakers the thirteen. Nothing to take the lead with eleven seconds left sixers last shot. Where are you going to go. Tobias harris for three to it's called he knocked it in twenty four points for harris twenty. "Will force their way out. If you're doing things well. They will force their way to your organization the off season. We'll be fun with hope for everyone. And also the teams. I think we'll get smarter more efficient and more productive. It'll be better for everyone teams who organizations who don't have hope fans who don't have hope we'll have hope when their organizations get better and when they are able to attract these superstar players mostly quarterbacks greenie. I know you have to agree with me because you are for the players to do and i primarily agree. I think this has been a problem for the nba but the problem the nba has wouldn't apply in the nfl. The problem in the nba is went. Three superstars all side. They're going to go to one place and it just makes the rest of it ludicrous. it just completely destroys the competitive balance. But we're not living in a world where patrick mahomes. Lamar jackson and to shawn watson are all going to go to the same team. That doesn't apply in football. If that was if there was some equivalent of that in football. I think it would could potentially really harm the league. But that doesn't exist here so long as you're just taking one great player from one team one team and putting him on another. I think it is actually good. Good for the fans brings a lot of interest manchester. You've been telling us all along. There's going to be unprecedented quarterback movement this offseason. And i think that'll be bad for the league. I think it'll be good for the league. Listen your show. Greenie is set for the next three or four months because all there is going to be talking about is the super team in brooklyn with the nba. And all these quarterbacks every day and by the way that isn't upset the competitive in the nba so far the nets basically got taken to overtime last night. Dave in combination to the competition shift from the nba. Talk okay. they're they're not steamrolling opponents the way everybody thought they would so quickly that harden irving durant trio not yet. Maybe they get there but they're not there yet greenie that's fair now. The golden state warriors if few years ago when they got k. d. That was a different situation. But i appreciate your jumping in with the analogy quickly. D would let me come to you. Do you like the idea of players of the national football league. Taking a level of control over their destiny that we have never seen in one hundred year history of the sport. of course. You're asking a former player all player in parliament. A mall for player. I think like the legion embrace this. You know because we talk. We're talking about it right now. Tv you know. The league is all about entertainment. It's entertainment. so what war drama could you ask for all year round then having speculation like this. When you're talking about all these different quarterbacks who could possibly move into different teams given other teams. You know maybe the leg up to be you know champions this year. I think the league should embrace this typos reality. Tv or the quarterback position is concerned. Now look nothing is more popular than fantasy. Football in daily fantasy pick a different roster every week and if that stuff is shuffling around in the nfl that might be fun. All right shefty looks busy to me. We will see if he has any news as we continue got. You have something for me. I just thinking of what d- what was saying there and again. I don't know where there was a shift but carson palmer basically dictated to the bengals doubt that he was going to be traded during that off season right. And then we saw khalil mack. Stop returning the phone. Calls of jon gruden. Then we saw jalen ramsey do whatever he did in jacksonville. We're now seeing shawn watson. Basically take a page from the khalil. Mack playbook and so the doors opening to players recognizing that they have power and i think that's part of the reason that we brought up the roger situation because we don't know how he's going to respond to the situation in green bay and to what they tell him during the meetings we already have seen. What's happening with the shawn watson. And now the question is could anything. Like that happened with aaron rodgers now he was quick to minimize it. And maybe we'll be nothing very possibly but maybe it won't so much much more about this as we go. But i've been waiting an hour and forty three minutes to say this. The lakers.

"People aren't sure about but everybody's sure about tom. Brady's gives you a little leeway for byron. Left woods. And bruce arians and tom brady to to tinker with and changed things and it also gives you the goodwill to have bad games to have awful performances in the team still shows up the following monday with confidence and still feeling good. I think that's more than anything impact at tom. Brady had that carry them through this playoff run even more than his play on. The field is just a psychological impact of having a guy like tom brady with that. Does your team both offensively defensively. Well let's also pointed out that while they do still throw the ball down the field the whole no risk it no biscuit d would mean i down after i down this past sunday. They are running the ball right into the line. They're running it with four net. They're running it with wanna old jones so that is a little bit of a departure from what we had seen them doing early in the season. Well absolutely there's a team that's taken advantage of of all his pieces and we've seen a seventy to office line. They've actually played really. well protect. tom brady and towards the latter part of the season opening up holes in their running game. So now we we talk ad nauseam about all the weapons. They have outside now when you compliment that with the run game with four net and ronald jones. Boy that gives you a lot of options. And i'm sure tom brady feels good about the yes. So for all the conversation. Dominic we're talking about. Will there be any pre snap motion. Will they do any of the play action and all that kind of stuff. It has changed. I mean we weren't. they've changed. Actually actually the worst part of their offense is the amount of first down running that they do like. I think they'd be more productive offense if they threw the ball. Because if you watch the game last week. They ended up in a bunch of like really high variants third down situations and tom brady. Threw a budget. Second half interceptions because of it so mixing. The run game is fine. But when you got tom brady. You got all those receivers. I doubt.

"Hell no going for to me back. I'll be back. If the glazers will have me back. The glazer family owned the tampa. Bay buccaneers so adam schefter. Should we be expecting this combination of tom. Brady and bruce arians to go forward sort of indefinitely here and maybe start building. Something that lasts for a while in tampa greedy. Tom brady on a two year contract. And when he signed that contract it was fully guaranteed and he intended to stay for two years in tampa. Bruce arians on a five year contract. He's completing the second year of that deal and he told a tampa radio station this week that he has no intention of not coming back. If the glazer family will have him. And so all indications. Are that bruce. Arians and tom brady will run it back again. In tampa next season together and for all the silly speculation on their relationship that existed through the first part of this season. It was way overdone. They've gotten along. I think it really enjoy being around each other. There are different in their approach is different. And their philosophies and bruce arians has been smart enough to adjust and adapt to a. Tom needs to do out on the football field to the point where this team is playing. Its best football of the season and this combination looks like it will be together again next season. I think that's right. I think dominique when we talked about the relationship between the two. Obviously we don't have any insight into the personal relationship. It did look for a while like the offensive. Philosophy of the two men did not fit particularly well together. Have you seen that change. Adapt grow as they have now. A shefty says all of a sudden becomes such a good offense. Well i mean. I think they always trusted tom brady. And that's the thing that you have. It's hard when you're building a team. You're growing team to get everybody to believe in the plan especially when you have a quarterback that.

But i think he will be. Because they can't find a better better option and it will be absurd to just let him walk not franchise tag them or at least try to move to trade him and i also think that dak prescott has shown no signs that he was willing to make things really ugly uncomfortable in the way that the shawn watson has made things that prescott is always kind of the line organization so i can't see him forcing his way out and i can't see the cowboys being foolish enough training him. I i was not ready for that. So i was not why. Why do we need to stop watching that flexible. That's great because they are wasting their time. You know it's like the world is going into direction where there's going to be ten percent of people doing all the work ninety ninety percent of people not having much to do the way that are going if it continues the way that is going because the age of middle classes is over. Yeah people are Madrid people in the west. I feel like they have especially you know. Our generation millennials Dave not seen difficulty if not seen adversity yet. This is like this generation After world war two the baby boomers agassi. They created the The middle class. Has you know everything was going upwards in everything was going better. You could get a job after five years. You could knew that you'd be able to have enough money for deposit of a house and then you would be able to get mortgage you know how to family. That's not going to be the case for our generation because the nature of technology is deflationary. Because i as technology moving forward more and more people are job because we're not going to need that many people who don't have unique amazing skills so what we need the cut this book although yes it tells you how to Have a better career in the future. But the truth is the steps. The things that i talk about in the book they are not for everybody. This is not the kind of thing you know. It's not a book that's like you know emmanuel for how to get the job like how to write a better seavy. It's not that kind of thing you know. You need to come a unique worker unique person. You need to develop maltese skills. You need to be multi skilled and you need to be highly highly skilled in your soft skills or you know what i call human skills just emotional intelligence contextual creativity. Mindfulness and critical thinking. And those things take time to develop. So if you are you know have twenty four hours. Eight hours of sleep. You need that right. I used to sacrifice sleep. And i realized you know from reading a lot in it and thinking a lot about where i'm going to go and i was like what i'm doing is not sustainable. I need to get enough sleep. Okay so if i'm gonna get enough sleep. Then i have sixteen hours to work right and out of those sixteen hours I definitely need to give an hour for exercise. Okay i can listen to an audio book while i'm on treadmill and i'm doing my workout. I need maybe a bad of fourteen minnesota. So for general kind of things like say a meditation and things like that twenty minutes to shower so it about fourteen hours who work fourteen hours to work right so what. I'm suggesting in the book. If you are going to be in that top ten percents. This book is written for people who want to be in the top ten. Set if you're going to be the top temps then you need to work for fourteen hours. I'm not talking about work as in. Sit down and like you know just like not. Talking argument repetitive things. When i say works. Let's say out of that. Fourteen hours four to six hours of paraguay should be dedicated to research and development. Learning new skills when i say working over. I'm sitting here practicing linear algebra. I'm working as part of work. I think about newtonian and i aside. You know like dot. Org beh- using so many. I think so. Many people. And i know that there is a group of people who would say oh. Well this is millennials. Origen zad or even some Late xers but people are going so many work. I wanna work that hard i want. That's already than i'm sorry. The way things are going. I know you want to tell you what you want to hear or do you want me to tell you the truth. The truth is that

Riot Games Reports League of Legends Worlds Viewership for 2020

"No secret that League of Legends world's is the most watch E sports event every year but the absolute massive gap between worlds and other events is all staggering to see this morning right games reported an average minute audience or AMA of twenty-three million as an increase of about 1.2 million / 2019. They also reported a peek concurrent viewership of forty six million viewers and over 1 billion total hours watch over the entire course of the tournament e Sports viewership can be confusing to track given the difference between a streaming platforms track viewers and how TV networks do so. So Riot and Activision Blizzard brought in Nielsen to provide the average minute audience or am a stack the stat is directly comparable to other he's dead. Events who use AMA and to traditional sports events and their TV ratings any sports Activision Blizzard's announced AMA for the OverWatch League finals was 2.9 Million globally. That's just a little bit over 10% of what world's received. It's no wonder o w l team owners are in conversations to get partial refunds from a Beyond those lofty team by ends, but worlds was also higher than most traditional sports events as well. The 2020 MLB World Series saw an average of about ten million viewers per game. So about half of League of Legends world. The NBA finals were even worse averaging about 7 and 1/2 hours per game. It should be said that the World Series was in line with previous historical averages while the 2020 NBA Finals was an anomaly only seeing about half of the viewership. We saw over the five finals before it off other events of League of Legends world's beat included the NHL finals, which was at two million viewers and gulps the Masters at about six million viewers. There are only a small handful of sporting events drawing more viewers than League of Legends at home. Point Wimbledon Tennis is about 28 million viewers the Superbowl sits around a hundred million viewers every year and then the Champions League finals which neared five hundred million viewers back in 2019. I believe a bunch of other soccer events are probably over that number as well, but I didn't go through all the regional leagues. This does not include events that happen every four years like the Olympics the soccer World Cup or the Cricket World Cup, which are all well overly of Legends as well. Still you can see why league is attracted so much attention and brought in so many Brands. It's in really lofty company with numbers like this. It's all first episode of the Esports minute. Should the Patriots replace Cam Newton with Jarrett Stidham?

"Think this is where we need to start because it's where everybody is starting when we talk about the Patriots and where we're at with Cam Newton right now in terms of the Patriots quarterback of the here-and-now home and also maybe even looking Beyond here and now to the 2021 season even and here in New England you turn on Boston sports radio, and I'm not trying to pick on those guys, but there are definitely talking a lot about Jarrett Stidham and the possibility of benching Cam Newton for Jarrett Stidham. I think they're crazy. But that that's a topic for another day. Mostly I want to focus on what are your opinions right knee about how cam is playing and how he can obviously improve from objectively. What was a very bad game on Sunday against the Cardinals whether you're a chemist and or a cam hater. Yeah, and it wasn't dead. A game against Arizona and Arizona. First of all, I think you have to remember that Arizona's defense is a lot different than Houston's defense. It's a lot different than Seattle's defense back in week to that Houston game. That's you know game those were two games with Jim actually got the passing game going and you felt hey maybe they could put together a passing game that could actually be effective Arizona see on their athletic. They fly all over the place Isaiah Simmons budda Baker. Like they have guys that can play they have some different things and they certainly they were putting an egg nine guys in the box of times. I'm sure having you saw that as well. I know you have from some of the work you've done they were basically dare in New England like go ahead. S game by throwing the football and it looked like they couldn't, you know, they got a couple breaks at the end with a missed field-goal and Isaiah Simmons penalty then put them in position to win, but they didn't win that game because of the passing game, but you know, that often said, I think we all have to sort of take a step back and realize a couple of things one. You mentioned I studied quarterbacks. Each week at USA Today. I have to do what we call a QB camp where I put up five of my quarterback videos of the most notable quarterback performances. There are some weeks friends. It's hard to find five good quarterback package, which is league-wide It's just tough. This is one of those weeks like you might get Baker Mayfield than that because there's just not great quarterback players Patriots fans were spoiled from two decades of Tom Brady where we took the best at the quarterback position weekend and week out but then when you take a step back and you don't have that and you see guys like, you know, Derek Carr and his high variance play or Baker Mayfield in his high variance player. Look at Carson waves, I mean talk about somebody that's regressed. He's regressed all the way back to his senior year at North Dakota State quarterback plays tough. And right now we have a quarterback. That's high variance. Well, that's one thing. I think we need to remember the other is this he came in late in a strange year in the midst of a pandemic with no training camp more minimal training camp. No minicamps. No OTAs, no prestige. James be tough complicated offense to run that has so many different moving parts. You've read The Playbook, you know, Evan every road has like six different variations. I'm trying to do is hard. There are some play books that are easy. It's like oh, yes, this makes sense Bruce Arians Playbook. It's kind of easy. Nothing really changes Josh McDaniels doing the Patriots Playbook. It's like quantum physics for me. Like I I can't figure it out. And so to try to do that in the midst of all this is difficult. So with that context, I think you know, if you want to get into the home Jared versus cam debate. I don't really think there is one because as you pointed out this week on Twitter Bill Belichick has seen Jarrett Stidham now for almost two years. He's seen him every day in practice if Jake was going to be the answer to what fixed to what else is Patriots passing game. Yes, he would play him but he's not so that tells you what you need to know about Jackson them. I was on Jarrett Stidham home. Right before they signed Camp. I remember I wrote the peace and said look Jack said it was a planet quarterback everybody and I'm so glad I snuck in at the ad. Well, look if they could get can do it for cheap short not be great. But Jarod said it was a planet like two weeks later. I signed Cam Newton Cam right now gives them the best chance to win games. Is it through the passing game most weeks? Probably not, you know this week might be a get right opportunity. But if I you know, if for the 2021 season, I still think canvas done enough to earn the chance to win this job with a full complement of training camp preseason, all that stuff of the engine needs to get better at Short of the mechanics break. Absolutely not do they matter. Sometimes they actually do but right now he's the best shot they've got week in and week out to win games.

Philip Rivers and Kirk Cousins' Season Outlook

"This has become a big part of the season. The the quarterback lawyers out there so it became a topic that i talked about on monday because of the romo defending brady and basically criticizing arians but it seems like a lot of the athletes. Hate the Law offices of romo and collins worth all of these guys that seem to protect the quarterback but then it was another level for the monday night. Game with wentz where people were so mad. Anytime brian greasy would be like well actually was a screen and they missed the block here and it was on again and it looks a lot of guys i used to work with. Espn like name is. They know they are. They got so mad about the. The defense of any of these. Quarterbacks is fair when it comes to the stuff you're at home your home just like the rest of us are watching these games. They give me a break of the tampa thing and then wentz. Yeah i mean. I don't think either quarterbacks in a good situation right now when you look at those two guys. But i also think there's some i mean to to absolve either. One of them of blame is crazy to me. Neither one of our plan well So that to me. It's kind of more a little bit more nuance there. I don't think either one of them are in the right system. That fits what they do right now and the other side of it as well. But that's where you find yourself. Your job is to execute with the situation. You find yourself in. i think carson's little carson's is is is a longer story About everything that's going on there with him to me. He looks like somebody who's kind of just completely lost his confidence you know. See what a guy it out in hoops curious around like in football. We talk about guys to start guiding the ball right. They don't they don't have any confidence or trust and you're really trying to guide the ball and then you end up with some really bad messes. I don't know if a shooter go through a slump. What what that looks like. But that's what it looks like with carson. There's nothing like a quarterback who's lost confidence it really. I think eventually like if you're a decent shooter not just going to not be able to shoot for year. Because you're bummed out. I mean paul george in the bubble so whatever But i don't know what the excuse was another playoff games. I think the biggest thing that you'll notice basketball is a guy who was a guy coming back from some kind of injury and he's good to go it's not like he doesn't trust his knee. And you played a lot of basketball. He's just stuff around the rim. he's inbetween decisions. Sometimes you just forget to drive usually remember used to drive past guys but eventually all that stuff goes away. I don't think there's anything as long lasting in basketball is there is is. The quarterback is completely lost. And then you'll see guys who lose so much confidence they start changing the way they've played like that's one of the crazy things about the cousin story. Is that cousins. Was somebody who took no chances to kind of make his way into the game. And then he had some decent statistical seasons and then he actually started. I think chuck in the ball a lot last year. Know what he actually came around. And then you know. He has dug game after they beat the saints. Which wasn't surprising to me. And then the beginning of this year. He was chuckling at all over the place and they were terrible for complete like changed who they became as a team with cook and yet cousins was great. Cousins will have these moments where he's like two completely different guys which is my biggest with ever putting him up in higher group with with some other people have them up there but cousins to me like in some areas. There's some similarities to rivers. And that i always felt like with rivers man if if if he hits that that hot stretch for him when he get. The postseason like flat goes agree. Example flack over sixteen seventeen games in any season his career. Like you're not. You're not going to buy that as a change of quarterback but he always had that ceiling for manufacturing it for three or four weeks. He's capable of doing that in off they go. I've always kinda put rivers in that category. That if he could get in the tournament and just had to have one of those hot streaks he could carry them and cousins is kind of like the the next version of that were I don't trust kirk over sixteen games but in a three or four game stretch. If you've got the good version kirk cousins like that's that's dangerous. He could actually do something. I always like rivers way more cousins. I wouldn't say this version of rivers but you know he's more accomplished definitely more -ccomplish but i'm just still saying that that rivers his hot stretches lasted longer than any of kirks hot stretches. But i've seen rivers put together three unbelievable games and then just added nowhere. You're like dude what what happened. Like just a clunker can happen so that that to me is where i find a little bit of the similarity there.

"Notice <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> first hand <Speech_Music_Male> we were gonna play off <Speech_Music_Male> before. Don't <Speech_Music_Male> add ignat. <Speech_Music_Male> Don't tell you <Speech_Male> tom brady. You <Speech_Male> got rob gronkowski <Speech_Male> antonio tonio brown. <Speech_Male> Let's not act <Speech_Male> as though. This buccaneers <Speech_Male> team is not <Speech_Male> expectations. <Speech_Male> Okay let me <Speech_Male> get to the pointless answer. The <Speech_Male> question. this go. Who <Speech_Music_Male> the bolt is bruce. Arians <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> bruce arians <Speech_Male> because when the lights <Speech_Male> shine bright is bruce <Speech_Male> arians he forgets who <Speech_Male> he is <Speech_Male> like when they play on these <Speech_Male> national stages against <Speech_Male> the saints. <Speech_Male> Have you only run <Speech_Male> the ball four times <Speech_Male> nine times <Speech_Male> with the kneel down and <Speech_Male> when you play on a national <Speech_Male> stage again <Speech_Male> this past weekend <Speech_Male> how does ronald <Speech_Male> jones only get <Speech_Male> i think nine total <Speech_Male> touches <Speech_Male> dude averages five <Speech_Male> plus yards a carry <Speech_Male> second best <Speech_Male> in the nfl. <Speech_Male> Bruce arians <Speech_Male> changes who he <Speech_Male> is when the light shine. <Speech_Male> It's almost as marcellus. <Speech_Male> He's having <Speech_Male> subliminal <Speech_Male> tug of war <Speech_Male> he wanted the whole world <Speech_Male> to know and understand. The <Speech_Male> tom brady is a goat. <Speech_Male> Put some respect on my <Speech_Male> name. Is <Speech_Male> bruce arians <Speech_Male> to recognize <Speech_Music_Male> real as well <Speech_Music_Male> on this side of the <Speech_Male> matter. <Speech_Male> Is bruce arians <Speech_Male> when the going <Speech_Male> gets tough. <Speech_Music_Male> They're not even like he gets <Speech_Music_Male> going. He just starts <Speech_Male> changing his ways. <Speech_Male> So i <Speech_Male> think it is on. Bruce <Speech_Male> arians the head coach <Speech_Male> for their struggles. <Speech_Male> Interesting <Speech_Male> that bruce. Arians <Speech_Male> changes ways when <Speech_Male> tom brady's had <Speech_Male> two different seasons. <Speech_Male> If you wanna look <Speech_Male> at some of the categories. <Speech_Male> Let's focus <Speech_Male> in on yards <Speech_Male> per tip. <Speech_Male> Bruce areas way <Speech_Male> which is risky for <Speech_Male> the biscuit. <Speech_Male> Tom brady had <Speech_Male> average six <Speech_Male> yards or more <Speech_Male> per <Speech_Male> and the first eight <Speech_Male> games all of <Speech_Male> them struggle. <Speech_Male> Since that point <Speech_Male> you see <Speech_Male> them now against the <Speech_Male> saints five and a half <Speech_Male> under you <Speech_Male> see <Speech_Male> four and a half <Speech_Male> when you see him. Play <Speech_Male> against on monday <Speech_Music_Male> night point <Speech_Music_Male> being. This is <Speech_Music_Male> a team. That's looking at <Speech_Music_Male> tom. Brady <Speech_Music_Male> do you okay <Speech_Male> because you brought in <Speech_Male> and now see <Speech_Male> like you don't want to buy <Speech_Male> you want to lease <Speech_Male> rent. We need <Speech_Male> you to purchase. <Speech_Male> We need you to purchase <Speech_Male> this playbook purchase <Speech_Male> this opportunity <Speech_Male> and by <Speech_Male> all the way <Speech_Male> and tom brady has had <Speech_Male> two different seasons <Speech_Male> and neither one of <Speech_Male> them. I'm going to give the <Speech_Male> complexion of a struggle. <Speech_Male> But if you wanna <Speech_Male> blame somebody <Speech_Male> you have to blame <Speech_Male> top. Tom <Speech_Male> brady is now <Speech_Male> trying to recalculate <Speech_Male> on the fly. <Speech_Male> Something that he's <Speech_Male> learning on the <Speech_Male> fly. I don't think <Speech_Male> that's smart football. I <Speech_Male> think he needs to do better speaking <Speech_Male> of learning. I'm gonna give <Speech_Male> you all the water cooler <Speech_Male> note. I'm gonna give you <Speech_Male> call the note because this going <Speech_Male> make the whole point. Hit home <Speech_Male> in prime <Speech_Male> time games. The <Speech_Male> buccaneers they only <Speech_Male> averaged seventeen <Speech_Male> rushing attempts <Speech_Male> to game but <Speech_Male> non primetime <Speech_Male> games. They have <Speech_Male> twenty six rushing <Speech_Male> attempts. The game <Speech_Male> ten more rush <Speech_Male> attempts the game basically <Speech_Male> nine of ten based <Speech_Male> on the decimal point <Speech_Male> not prime <Speech_Male> time because what happened <Speech_Male> as soon as the <Speech_Male> lights. Come on <Speech_Male> bruce arians forgets <Speech_Male> how to put a playbook <Speech_Male> forgets how to put the <Speech_Male> play call because how to <Speech_Male> put the call sheet together <Speech_Male> and all of a sudden <Speech_Male> you're watching. <Speech_Male> Oh y'all <Speech_Male> go. See the real bruce <Speech_Male> arians and because <Speech_Music_Male> of

What Is Wrong With Carson Wentz:

"Philly eagles and seahawks and birds and other birds only one type heading south carson wentz again trying to prove a starter status again coming up short another interception adding to his league-leading totally was also six. Times is back backup. Jalen hurts saw just to blaze last night. We'll have much more on him in just a second but first eagles get the win. Here's carson winston after last night's loss to seattle. There's been a lot of talk and speculation. You possibly getting benched or something like that. I mean does that way on you at all. Do you think about that at all. And that occurred during the game. Any of that. Come up. i mean. I said that last week you know this is what you sign up for as a quarterback member. Since you're a kid you know you're prepared for for any of those nothing's ever guaranteed and so for me i. I don't think about that though. I just try and go out and be the best player. I can be in practice. Prepare my tail off. Compete my tail off and You know hopefully we can get this thing turned around but I think about those things. I might give it everything i got every time i step on the field. I think i said the eagles went. Obviously the seahawks won there and carson wentz with the barrage of questions about his plane time plane status plane brandon start with you did carson wentz play well enough to keep his starting job moving forward. Well i mean i hell. Mary was nice. i mean how. How often do we see that at all. He but outside of that. Mary no he. He didn't play well. The coaches the coach. Well defense didn't play well enough. This is one of those years. Nick where everybody needs to be on notice when you play like this and miss division everyone should be on notice and then you can go back to last couple years outside of their super bowl. Run it's always been a struggle for this organization. If i'm the owner. I am looking at everything. I'm looking at the general managers there's other gaps. There's other holes on this team is not just carson wentz. it's also the linebacking core and it's not that the linebacking core isn't playing. Well they're just not very good they don't have any debt so with that mind like you gotta talk about. Who's making those decisions. And you got to hold them accountable. So this entire organization. Mic should be on notice at listen. I think might garafolo is the one who reported this morning that he can no longer report. That doug peterson is totally save. Despite being just three years removed from actually winning a super bowl something carson wentz is not able to say. He did what that means for our rose. One of the front office will see. And you're right brandon. This is a team that has a multitude of issues but their biggest issue is this in twenty twenty the worst starting quarterback in football now. That's not a statement of opinion. That's just if according to the numbers we can show them. The worst fulltime starting quarterback in the nfl is carson wentz and the spat back that up one hundred percent. He's thirty fifth worse in everything. And there's only thirty two teams folks and he is a turnover machine he runs into sacks he doesn't make the big throws anymore. There's been one game all year long that he didn't turn the ball over and in that game. He fumbled twice. They just happened to recover them so it does feel however wildlife carson wentz might be the one with the most job security because of the contract. He's been signed to based on performance. You have a twenty eight a guy that's going to be twenty eight this month. He's in year five and he's playing the worst football of his career. That is more than a sign for his future. But do you think that's all of his fault nick. Because morning i wake up. And i make a little menu and i called my my kitchen. Where do my work hot take cafe and on today's menu. Here's what we had. You can make your choice. Everyone you can have bad coaching with a side of bad. Play design you can have bad decision. Making with a side of bad throws you could have bad wide receivers and bad protection. Those your options at the take cafe for me. I want went bad protection. I went with the six acts. We're not his fault. The league leading forty six x also. Not his fault he also had some throwaways there and i was watching the game last night neck and i was like oh the one when he was chased out of the pocket to avoid an intentional grounding. He threw it to the first down. Even though it came up short i was like. Oh that's a. That's a good play. That's a quarterback you can build around. I'm like what what is happening. I'm calling a throw to save even intentional grounding a good play and he could say like. I don't put it on the offensive line. Louis riddick mentioned it last night when they went to the super bowl best offensive line surprise surprise. Takeout carson wentz put. Nick foles doesn't matter to me. It starts with the offensive line. I know there's a lot of side dishes but it's an offensive line thing for me.

Smart phones could be used to diagnose COVID-19

"Is working on a way to get your smartphone to detect Cove in 19 details from Cuomo's Jeff Pooja Love basic idea is that your phone collects a lot of data where you've been whom you talk to. If you've been near location with an outbreak and even sleep in health data. Dr Patricia Arian says all of that information combined with a symptom checker could be calculated to diagnose covert 19, even though we're in the middle of the pandemic is actually really useful time for us to collect information to serve, build out the predictive signal or the predictive algorithm from the phone so that we can start to test it again in the fall. When the study started three years ago, the plan was to track the seasonal flu. But now it's being adjusted to track Cove in 19, Jeff

"You can talk to them up a little like Kimmy like the only issue I have is Bruce Arians kind of like running off at the mouth of me and like yeah I'm prematurely knocking on Brady Brennan. You had it right here's a quote I? Want to show you areas that after the Game that the pick the first one brandon was the result of an overthrown pass against covered too. But Monday after watching the film me clarify that Evans should have quote. No doubt kept the outgoing as it was against quarters covered Utopian up the field. So I don't have an issue with him saying, Hey, Tom Brady blade bad. But now Bruce Arians is backtracking on criticism I. think that is more of a concern rather than giving Tom. Brady some well-deserved Lumps Brandon. Brian I you know I don't know if you want to jump in here. Get I just think it's bad. Owner airwaves this morning that's all we're talking about instead of instead of. Talking about them losing and what they need to do to move forward we're talking about all these headlines It's a distraction. Evans in bed spot Tom Brady and Abed's. But you're putting yourself in a best. But when you really have a great opportunity to do something a tremendous this year. What here's the thing about Tom Brady we know that he's a student of the game. We know that he's also a student of coaches I have to believe that when he went down, there were bruce airing is this isn't the first time that Bruce airings has called out players. This hasn't this is not the first time he's called out even some of them mistakes that he's made. So I had to believe that Bruce Arians was number one, one, hundred percent honest with the Tom when he came down there I'm GonNa coach like everyone else because here's the most important thing. Have a bunch of time to be building things down here in Tampa. We got win right now you don't bring in. Tom. Brady to try to build a system and winning four five years you need to win right now. So we don't have time to kind of measure out words. We have to go out there and win right now. In Tom, Brady accepted that he has been coached by bill check he hasn't call it out in the media in this way but he has been coach Harvey or so for Tom Brady I think that he's always been his toughest critic and this is just another thing for him to go out there and try to overcome. I Agree Ryan. No way shape or form was this a surprise to Tom Brady? I'm sure he knew the Bruce Arians was going to call him out on it. I'm sure they spoke before the season that he was going to be coached hard. Books Host Carolina next week a chance for Brady to totally redeem.

"Interstate twenty four West. From. Nashville Tennessee. Up Toward Missouri. Because we're on our way to Kansas City. And if all goes well in about eight hours, we will be in Kansas City Missouri. But. This week I'm doing a podcast from the road. So I've got three guests for you this week. Got A short conversation which taped on Tuesday morning. I had the home of Allen Sills the NFL's chief medical officer. take that in Tennessee. At his home. You'll be able to see some video of that and NBC Sports, Dot Com NBC sports you to page also. But also this week. We're going to have a head coach Bruce Arians of the Tampa Bay buccaneers I was down in Tampa last Thursday and Friday, and then over the weekend I recorded a podcast with. To, me one of the most interesting and and fun guys in the NFL may not know very much about them Alex Mack. The Center for the Atlanta Falcons and also a little known fact he's the treasurer of the National Football League Players Association and we'll have some conversation about NFL PA matters and. Cova and things like that. So. It is a jam packed podcast. I'M NOT GONNA take a lot of time here at the top before we get to the conversations. But what I thought I would tell you is just a little bit about the mechanics of this training camp trip. If you know me know that the training camp trip is my favorite time of the year you spent a month. Getting, reacquainted with every. person who you know in the NFL and a lot of new people we don't know in the NFL and so I've really enjoyed it over the years going to twenty, twenty, two, twenty, three camps over a month long period but this year because of covid. The training camp trip was kind of a casualty. So I'm going to four teams total in eight days as you know of already been in Tampa wrote about Tom. Brady this week football morning in America then from there went to. ATLANTA. Excuse me. went to. ATLANTA. And then to Nashville stayed in Nashville late Saturday Sunday and Monday before getting in the car today Tuesday and driving for Kansas City that'll be my last stop. Then I go home and I've got a quarantine. at that point. So when you live in New York you basically have to quarantine. When you go to any of about thirty five states, I'm not really sure. I. May. go over to the giants jets at some point in the next couple of weeks if I find out, the quarantine does allow that but. I I don't I don't know I can or not. Anyway. What has been really interesting about this trip. The person holding the camera right now is anti colds. She is an NBC sports producer and on this trip. She is my videography, and so you may have seen her handiwork in my football morning in America column on Monday. She is the one who got the OJ Howard, Tom Brady video that basically I used as a huge negative an idea in my column this week. So and he's been invaluable on this trip so far. I I. Really Want to just take a moment to say. You know. What happens on a training camp trip is that you get to spend time with people who you? Don't really. Get the same opportunity to spend time with during the year. And so what is interesting about this here is that all that time is spent virtually and that time basically is spent on this video conference. APP. We have an NBC called Stream Yard right before I, left the hotel. I did Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid and tyrant matthew with chiefs. This was the media day for the chiefs to do stuff that they don't do is kind of a group media things. So if I was going to get one on one stuff, it had to be on. Tuesday. So I'm going to write about them for next Monday. But my time with them was today so. I'm basically covering the chiefs from the J W Marriott, hotel. In Nashville that's where I'm I'm getting this stuff. So we'll go watch practice for a couple of days, but there's not going to be any interview opportunities. But anyway it's just it's a new way to do things. It's different. Next. Week on my podcast I'm going to do a little A little bit more on the mechanics of NFL coverage these days. So I look forward to tell me a little bit more about that. But so that I'm setting the scene now you're going to be able to listen to. my interviews, Alan Sills NFL chief medical officer Bruce Arians coach the pucks. Alex. Mack. The center of the Atlanta Falcons happy to have you with me on the podcast this week. So let's listen to Alan Sales. Doctors Sills. I think everybody in the United States is basically watching the NFL in looking at the results that they see from the national football league. And early this week it was reported that there only twelve players out of two, thousand, eight, hundred approximately who are on what is called the covert irr list meaning that they could either be positive for covid or they could be in close proximity with someone who is positive for Covid and thus was going through a testing regimen to make sure they're okay. What does that say about the progress of testing? Well. There's one other group that actually can also be on the Cova Dr in that group that has had a positive test that hasn't been confirmed yet. So there are definitely some of those, but but I think it says that first of all that we're keeping a very close eye on this situation and and obviously with daily testing and all the screening that we're. Doing, we have a tremendous amount of information coming in, but I think it also says that are clubs are doing a terrific job. You know meaning our players, coaches and staff everyone is taking this very seriously. They're looking at how can they prevent risk for themselves and for that that team organization and I'm really proud of the work that we're doing there are teams. Are Built on competition and excellence, and I feel like they've taken that same spirit of competition not to compete against each other but to compete against the virus, what can we do as organization as individuals to make ourselves safe here and and I think that's that's showing up in the results. So. As we sit here right now, there's so many. Things that I'm sure you have to be concerned with on a daily basis. What are the things you look for every day when you analyze the results that you get from teams? Well, we're always obviously I looking at new positive tests. You know anyone who test positive and really what we call a novel positive meaning. You've never had a previous positive test because we know medically that if you've tested positive in the past, you can have a positive test for many months. Afterwards that's just part of the unique features of this virus. So we certainly look at those novel is, and then we also look at the context data to see how our teams are doing. You know with the distancing and making sure you know if we do have a positive, what does that look like in terms of close contacts? If you were to. Look at a every team. And the fact that the highest percentage on any team so far has been one point, seven percent positive tests on that team. That seems to be. A lot more positive than I would have thought particularly with people coming from wherever they were coming from all around the United States. What does that number sadie that the worst team has been one point seven percent positive tests yeah. Again, I would say Peter. I was pleasantly surprised with that because I felt sort of like you did with people coming from all over the country and even all over the world in some cases that we were likely to have a lot more positive cases when everyone came together because remember those intake tests, they didn't show what happens. Once you're in the NFL facility, they just said, what are you bringing with you what? Are you coming from the outside but I think again, that goes back to saying that our players, coaches and staff they were already thinking ahead and making sure they were taking precautions leading up to coming to training camp so that they arrived in the healthiest possible state and and so I think it's a very positive start but to put it in football terms, that's the first series or the first drive of the game we got a lot more came in front of us, and so it's a great start but we've got a long way to go. We have to remain vigilant because whenever we let our guard down, that's when we become vulnerable. What if anything have you learned from baseball where the Marlins the cardinals now, the reds to some degree have had some positive that have kept those teams off the field..

"Not anything that he hasn't seen he hasn't been able to execute so even with Tom. Brady going down to the temp based bus veneers and having a different office. They're going to adjust what the streets. Tom Brady. Tom Brady game is okay Bruce Areas and that type that type of cokes? He's he's coast a multitude of quarterbacks. What he's talking about Big Ben Rothlisberger Peyton Manning Andrew luck all guys with different skill sets. And he's going to have a guy. Tom Brady. Who's older guy but still a very productive for so. I trust the quarterback coach combination. That I know that has a wealth of experience that seeing it all with the weapons that they have on their team at their disposal to go out there and execute at our level. I take your take on ESPN news. I'm Jason Fitz. And let's get some straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless we talk about COMBOS. We have to acknowledge that we're really looking at. Who can get the most out of the player or coach that there with in a way that they can win. We have no proof of concept for cinema. And that's something that as much as I agree with everybody. The bill belichick deserves benefit of the doubt for what he's been able to accomplish as a head coach when we are comparing simple knocked teams in the only conversation is a coach quarterback. It is incredibly disrespectful to what Tom Brady has accomplished in his career. To even say jared stems name in the same breath of that conversation. This is nothing against sitting. It's just what the last time we saw him. He wasn't quite getting it done at Auburn in a way that we thought that he could. If anybody had thought jared stood in the draft. Was the next Tom Brady. He would have made it past the first round. Halley wouldn't have made it past the first pick so some come in and suddenly act like jared stood. Him is the future. And that's okay and we can presume that it's all going to work out what we're allowing to happen there is. We're allowing the bias of seeing Belichick. Having done it in the past and we'd just presuming that he will do it. Get I understand the presumption I understand how easy it is to do that? But when you want to talk about specifically comparing two different teams to different COMBOS. When you're talking about a coach in a quarterback Combo comparison not taking any of the rest of teams capable of to say that Bruce Arians and Tom Brady wouldn't get more benefit of the doubt umbrella. Check and Jarret. Stidham is over inflating. What Bill Belichick deserves for benefit of the doubt it's over inflating would jarret stood stidham deserves for any benefit of the doubt in the League. And it's frankly insulting to what Bruce Arians and Tom Brady had both already accomplished. Its I take your take on. Espn news that some straight talk wireless no contract no compromise. We're taking your straight talk. The best superstar head coach Combo in sports right now all across the board any sport. I want the best superstar. The best coach triple eight say. "This week's Adam Schefter podcast will be joined by the new head coach of the Tampa Bay. Buccaneers Bruce Arians makes his return to football entering a urine broadcasting, and we'll get an analytics breakdown of the upcoming conference championship games from the ESPN NFL researcher. Evan Kaplan, and we'll take your questions as you. The listeners have left us voicemails that deserve to be answered. But I the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bruce Arians, Bruce. Hey, congratulations on the job. I got a great story for you. I don't know if you're gonna remember this. Do you? Remember after the Pittsburgh Steelers fire you in two thousand eleven so a headed into the two thousand twelve season, and I called you. And I said, hey, there's a job for you in Tampa Tampa's interested, and you just got fired as the Steelers offense. According to do you. Remember this conversation between you and I. I don't think so. And you said is it for the head coach. And I thought to myself privately head coach he just got fired his offense asking you about the coach. And they were interesting years the outfit squandering you thought back in two thousand twelve this time in two thousand twelve seven years ago, they you should have been the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so seven years later you approve an accurate, and there were seven years too late to hire you because in between you obviously bounced around going from Indianapolis two hours ONA to the CBS booth. And now finally to the job that you told me that you should have back seven years ago. That's a good one. That's awesome. You don't remember that? No. I don't. That's a hundred percent accurate. I remember them speaking to them, and I remember reaching out to you. And remember saying giving interest and you say, yeah. Are they calling about the head coaching job? And which which when we look at that. I think it speaks to your level of confidence, and how much you thought you should be a head coach, which you had not been in NFL. Hey, coach at that point. And it worked out. Okay. Bruce. Did is been it's been a lot of fun. So what made Tampa so attractive to you? Location ownership general manager of quarterback, and all my all my staff being available kinda like the stars just kept lining up. And you know, as I as I traveled around this year and into broadcasting, I knew how much I missed the locker room and how much I miss you arena. At what point when you were broadcasting, you know, I wanna get back into this. Knows. I is we eight or nine and I forget which team is that I'm standing on a db messed up, and I started coaching, and yes, this is it my team. I can't coach it. And so I knew it was happening was coming. And when did it become a reality? One tap opened up, which I wasn't sure it was and you know, knowing Jason light same as Winston. Then when when the guys that I wanted on my staff were available, then then it just became something. I had to do. So you've known James Winston for a long time. Oh, gosh since he was tenth grade. And he would come to your football camps. Correct. Yes. Yes. So how do you get James to control those interceptions and turnovers? Well, I think through better understanding of what we're trying to do. And the realize ation that you don't have to throw the window every single time approved you can. That that, you know, some of those decisions that you think you can get it in there aren't worth it. And you're hurting the team. So I just think the confidence that he knows that I have in him that he's the man that's his team. Some of those things will go away. There's a lot on the line for him this year because he's going to the fifth year of that rookie deal. There's a ton of money. You can make James Winston a lot money. Bruce here. I hope so he made me so. That works out pretty how good quarterback. Can he be with your guidance and direction? I think he's got all the skill. He's very bright. And he's an excellent worker. He's there at five o'clock every morning. So you have all those things that a great quarterback coaching CLYDE Christians offense coordinator buyer left, which who he can lean on a guy that's played position in this offense..

"You picked up the phone or did that happen before you got the opportunity with Tampa coach it was after and you know, we we talked to he's he's another one like a son to me. So I was more talking to him better future. You know, we all get fired up in so many times, I can't count them all and but then it led to this. And so he thought hard about it. I I was doing my best sale job and in this in this happen. So we're really excited to be back together. While you said you've been fired so many times don't forget, you're also retired to Bruce, right? A couple of a couple of times. Do you think about that? Right now, if you didn't get that phone, call from Chuck Pagano. Right. Can you recount that story after leaving? I was what I called refired in Pittsburgh. And so. Going back to Pittsburgh to get the rest of our furniture, and we had a little bit of stuff in an apartment. Chuck calls. And my wife looked at me goes gonna take. Well, let me listen listen to. You know? And that fairytale story of what happened that year with him beating leukemia at Andrew luck winning all those games with all those other rookies kinda gave me an opportunity. Yeah. That's when you got your coach of the year award there first of two of those Bruce Arians. And so now who's calling the plays because the last time you were on this program. And I asked you about any health concerns that you had because the time before you were on last you mentioned how you thought you might have some sort of medical emergency on the sideline which led to part of the reason for you retiring or leaving the Zona cardinals coach happily I got a complete physical on my interview per time ever and was really glad to do it and kinda completely clean Bill health. And but no Byron left, which will be calling the plays on obviously have a big hand in it. And and be on there with him, but you know, train Hera. Goodwin and buyer left which the last few years to handle that job and feel very very comfortable with them. Okay. Because that's what you said is you said, you know, if I go back, I'm not gonna call the plays, which is gonna make it a lot easier for you healthwise so Byron left, which is going to be the former quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars who had some time on the staff there in Arizona. He is going to be the play caller for you in. I thought he did a great job and his interim role this year. Right. So what walk me through the health stuff with you. And I guess you and your wife, and your physician was part of this decision for you to come out of the CBS booth here coach. Yeah. I mean, you know, we did everything soup-to-nuts done in Tampa. My doctors were involved with any questions, and so yeah. Other than losing thirty pounds some good shake. That's great. So before let you go here. Coach just a few minutes left with Bruce Arians head coach the Tampa. Buccaneers will be introduced as such officially on Thursday. What is it about coaching that that that coaches can't quit?.

"The last this this year off especially other than gain about ten more pounds know that part of it. And I I if I went back, I wouldn't I would not call place, and I I would turn it over to one of the guys trained and. So that would feel very comfortable that way, which takes a lot of the stress out of it. Okay. Hey, coach, really appreciate you calling in and join your call with with Greg Gumbel and and Trent green have a great cast in in New Jersey in a big game for the titans. And as you point out the giants as well. Yes, it'd be a great one it should blower. You got a coach best to you and your family and Americans you got it right back at you. That's Bruce Arians at Bruce Arians on Twitter. Doesn't think he's going to get a call? Why wouldn't you don't know variance that seems like derelict of duty did not give this guy his guys? Freddie kitchens co when I coached him at Alabama. I'm he basically created him. And he just said he wouldn't call plays. If he comes back to the sideline and he wakes up dangerous Everyday's a coach kinda like makes complete sell perfects. It's makes complete sense. Certainly if Lincoln Riley is not going to walk through the door. I'm wondering Cleveland Browns fans, if you had a choice between Mike McCarthy and Bruce Arians. Who'd you choose. You have a choice between two guys one who's won a Super Bowl as head coach one who has been part of championship teams as an assistant a guy who has been coach of the year as an interim head coach he was his job was so well done as an interim. They just based got to say, hey, we've got we have to give it to an interim head coach. And then goes to rezone, oh and winds up a game shy of the Super Bowl there. You put Baker Mayfield in that hands. And he's the with the defensive coordinator who could be able to put it all together. Must you keep just keep running back with Greg Williams? I mean, you can't have a problem with that. Certainly if my fourth down hot take from the other day is accurate that they're going to win out and finish eight seven in one. And if they do that have a pretty good chance of winning the division going to play offs three in one, Greg Williams. Three two. Great can their three two win out. It could.

"Redskins milk. Okay. Bruce Arians now of CBS sports here on the rich Eisen show. How are you Bruce? I'm doing great. How you doing buddy? Where are you calling in from? Where do I go into endure? All right. So you're you're not yet on the road for your game yet this week. Correct. Yeah. Head out seven hundred I where are you going which gave me doing the giants and titans? That is a big one for the titans. Bruce. Right. I mean, they gotta have it. So the giants kind of they're still there. All right. So Bruce Arians here in the Honda insider report on the rich Eisen show. What are you seeing from the titans? What did you see look at the film? I guess against Jacksonville that we really hadn't seen from Derrick Henry all year long, Bruce. What do you what do you think of the titans viability is a playoff team here? Yeah. I like them. Mainly because their defense, and they can run the football. Yeah. It was kind of a breakout game for Derrick Henry, I guess not even sixty yards and any other game. You pop out with over two hundred and obviously the ninety nine yarder about five step on pretty impressive. But he's that type of back. They have you know, Marcus mariota playing better. It's a big game for them because he hasn't played well on the road all year, and you know, obviously Houston sitting at the top of that heap in, you know, the division intimately from your time with the colts when you see Andrew luck. And what you're seeing from Andrew luck this year as good as ever, correct? When you say, it looks he looks just like the guy that you were interim coaching back in the day. Bruce. Oh, I don't think there's any doubt rich. I mean, that's my that's my wildcard team right now. Somehow, they get in you know, that road win at Houston. That's like a playoff win. So they're already playoff tested if they can. Get in. They're going to be tough. So you like them out of the entire of. On the outside looking in the hunt right now, you know, I think that I hope that game comes down to heal Tennessee versus the colts for playoff picture w Greg gagne week seventeen that's week seven. Now, what do you think of our poll question which team currently succeed on down in the NFC as the best chance to make it as the succeed right now. I don't think it'll matter that'd be the first ones out. I don't know. Kidding? You think and even as a shot to go into Chicago, essentially or Dallas and winning that first playoff Garo. I mean, they could be seven and nine whoever gets it or. Eight six and one or whatever it is easy. I would've always said Minnesota, but dependent show up last week hasn't shown a few cousins. Obviously, the upends the problems you never riders. But I mean. But there's just no one there. If the giants pull off his upset take sneaking although their favorite in this game. They are. I mean because of the way that say Kwan's been running Bruce Arians here on the rich Eisen show. Let's get into some other storylines in the NFL. Bruce hunt insider report, Bruce Arians. To the best of your ability. What what what do you think happened with Ben Rothlisberger on that side line? And just knowing Ben is you do or what's going on within that locker room. It always seems like there's something we don't know about with Ben or what's going on in that locker room. What do you think happened with him in the ribbons re in the the x Ray not being readable? And he comes out and he stands around. But then goes back in what do you think happened? I you know, I would have to think it was something to do with doctors and trainers during that time trying to get. A viable answer on what was wrong knowing Ben. He's saying I'm good to go and somebody was hoping back. 'cause I mean, I don't think they really want to see the other quarterback play that much. So I mean that was that was a big loss for them is that what happens on the sidelines is that where someone comes to..

Had an ammo awry on his back and the results were inconclusive. And Jeff McLean of the Philly Enquirer is saying that whence is now seeking an opinion outside of the medical staff in Philadelphia. An MRI today. Cording to Adam Schefter, a scannon. His back was inconclusive. He's having an MRI today to help diagnose an issue that plagued him for several weeks. Just in case you're wondering if one says it looked himself. When you when you're when you're Pinon comes from when you want an opinion from outside, right? That is. That's that's always interesting when the medical staff is there say, that's your that's your one opinion. I'm going somewhere else. I'll tell you what from this right here. Nick foles is gonna start Sunday. I mean, they might not say it right now. But there's no way if there's an inconclusive scan, and he's checking things out with an outside medical doctor that he's getting the reps or is ready to go. He's not even in the building. If you're outside. It's gonna be falls this show folks on Sunday here in Los Angeles. And we will see if he can run it back. I I gave you the rosiest scenario. Guest truly ten minutes before we went on the air is the news about once it hit and the rosiest scenario possible. Is obviously what happened last year? You know, bring the Shawn Watson and that Texans team in the Philly cold. Running back. Seahawk owes. Right. Why not no one thought it was going to work last masks and see how it works. That's the rosiest near the problem is though is that they don't have the same running game. There's no Jj. I and there's no. Luxair blunt what it is Josh Adams. "This switches happened would be derelict of duty. So who who could come in with head coaching experience with a Super Bowl ring on his finger having coordinated the offense for the quarterback from the state of Ohio who beats the crap out of the state of Ohio every single time. He sets foot back in the state of Ohio and Ben Rothlisberger. The guy who has been the coordinator and interim head coach for Andrew luck. And Indianapolis to the point where he gets his own job. Our zona. And is one of the few people who's raising his hand saying I want to coach in Cleveland to be the Browns. I mean, it kind of makes sense with Bruce Arians to come on in keep Freddie kitchens. Is it possible that Greg Williams says I'll stay as the defensive coordinator? Too tall order, but I will do out. I'm gonna put a point blank to to Bruce Arians because that's the way he talks. He's a blunt, man. After we also discuss everything that's going on in week fifteen huge games involving playoff hopeful teams teams already in the division lead teams that are hoping to hold onto the division lead teams that are on the outside looking in aka in the hunt, which Joe buck said on the air a couple of weeks ago. He would like to come up with an alternative to it. We have one as you know, on the sent aka sniffing it Sniffen. I will present that to him point blank. Bluntly when he calls into the show in our to prior to calling tonight's chiefs chargers game, but other playoff implicating action in week. Fifteen the Dallas Cowboys at the Indianapolis Colts. You have the New England Patriots at the Pittsburgh Steelers. You also have a huge game in the form of dolphins. Viking seventy six at six six in one the dolphins. Currently sniffing it the Vikings barely holding onto their wildcard spot. They lose they'll be the sniffing a category. Does that sound right? I. On me. It's growing on me. Eagles Rams eagles. Currently sniffing it Nick foles. Getting the start seems at the Rams who were smelling the glove last week in Chicago who could put the final nail in the call from the Packers this weekend so much delicious football on display. What is our poll question today? Crisper we'll get the we looked at the AFC playoff picture earlier this week. Let's look at the six seed in the NFC playoffs. Five teams sniffing. It who gets the succeed. Vikings currently occupy Panthers. Eagles Redskins all have six wins. And the Packers five seven and one that one tie is keeping them in the mix. I'm telling you the Packers this weekend. In Chicago throw the records out everybody thinks they have zero shot their season's over they fired their coach. This is exactly when Aaron Rogers steps in shocks everybody. It tells everybody that we're a relaxed. It's huge Packers bears bears. Win this game wrap up the NFC north. At nine and ten and four nobody else can catch him. I mean, that's it. It's huge. I'm glad you included the Packers because they could act absolutely be the one team to come out of the Sniffen it mosh pit. But the way it's not a bad fantasy team name Sniffen, pretty good. I don't know what the avatar ISSA. So we'll ask Bruce Arians that very question. Joe bucks? Gonna join us an oh, yes. An hour.
