"To me on a nightly basis, if you ask me who I'm worried about, I'm preparing for. They're all 6 9 6 ten and 6 11 because those guys are going to follow you out. They're going to beat you up and they're going to be hard to deal with on a night produce got. You know, at any given point in the game, you're not getting a breather when you're dealing with Purdue inside. The ball is going to ball's going to go inside with those two guys for 40 minutes. They're not going to probably play too much together. But Robbie, you know as well as I do, that play card, that play package. Right? It's over there. That may be that offensive coordinator this year. He's got one job that ball's gonna touch the paint. Four out of 5 times. No. That's why it's hard for me to pick Jay and ivy to be honest. Like, I don't know who to pick out of those food. You guys, all I know is I want to practice and I just saw I saw a big ED dominated. Like, absolutely dominant. Like throwing guys throwing around like he was a rag doll. That's how big he is. That's how much better he is. Now, will he play enough? I don't know. That would be my concern is that he might just act with the opportunity minutes wise, which is well he might split. I mean, obviously each other. Yeah. Yeah. And it cancels itself out. You know, bar to like the bigs in the league, right? Getting filed trouble. They're playing each other. The great thing for painter is he's got two of them. One of them gets in a file trouble it almost makes his job a little bit easier in a way. Yeah, I think one of the things that, you know, we always talk about here is what a guy's done, production wise. But the best of the best have to find a way to play both ends of the floor. And I think when you start talking about perdue, they have a lot of guys that Robbie, you know, you can speak to as well as anybody. Nobody's going to emphasize defense playing hard, toughness, like Matt's going to do. And can he put those combinations on the floor that work together on both ends? You know, talking to a lot of guys and in particular, you know, thinking about perdue, Matt's going to talk about number one, they're going to be in Ken palm this year. One, two, three, four, 5,.

"And to me, I'm not sure there'll be a guy that's more electric with the ball, playing the two man game. And being able to impact the game from an offensive standpoint. So if you told me Andre capella was a first second team all American, his production and the way that he's going to handle the ball and play in their style with Kofi in and around the spacing around. He's going to be tough to deal with. Jade and ivy and Zack Edie, if you put either one of those two guys on first team all conference, you'll have no you'll have no mistake. I think part of it is those two guys are going to have to assume those dominant roles as sophomores, whereas freshman you saw it, but you look at the two summers that both of those two kids had, this off season, you may not find two more productive summers with USA basketball and then Zach and the FIBA world championships as well. I coached in this world championships. That competition is at the highest level that you can get in terms of plan on that stage and those two guys produced. So if those two guys merge, I mean, Zack Edie, there isn't anybody in college, basketball like them, and I also tell you this, he's playing for the perfect coach because there is no better coach in America that has the ability to take that guy and put him right where he needs to be get him the ball without a dribble, not able to double team and get him the ability to score the ball. He's done it with Han with biggie swan again with AJ hammonds, trading on a little bit, trading on maybe a little bit more off the bounce, but Zach 80 from a production standpoint, the amount of minutes he plays, if you do a PER player efficiency rating based on the off, it's going to be off the charts in terms of what he does in the amount of minutes that he's in the.

"That's for sure. Hey, art, so I'm going to put you in the spot here. Who is the coach you did not want to go up against? I mean, there are so many good coaches in this league. Obviously. You got a Hall of Famer in Israel. I'm assuming, I don't want to put words in your mouth. Who's the guy that you just felt like when it gets down to it the end of a game last couple minutes that you were like, you looked across and you were just you didn't want to deal with that guy. Well, it's hard to, you know, single guys out. I mean, coaches are obviously a Hall of Famer. Matt, painter's head in there. In my time in the Big Ten, the most impressive guy to deal with when it came to manipulating the game or just the prep work and then some of the things that went on during the game was actually John B line. And I know coach B line is in there right now. But when you talk about the utmost respect for system style maneuvering his years when I was in the league, they were final for good every year almost. And to me, he was, you know, as an impressive as it gets because it's the total system. It's how he does it every day. But you can go down the line between Greg garb to Mark turgid. I feel like Chris Holman is going to have Ohio State and final four..

"Ten preview and listen. I couldn't find to better running mates on this one for the big ten. The robbie homeowner rt miller robbie home will play purdue for. I don't know eight nine years. Whatever it was Archie miller has been in indiana the last few years and guys let. Let's start with storylines in the first thing that comes to mind when you're looking at the big ten this year is the bigs and there are a ton of them. I mean a ton of them and they're really good robbie. Have you ever seen a league like this where you've got so many good bigs last year and the year before that too so yes ads It's been a pretty incredible run. I think is the game has gotten smaller especially when you look at the nba and just to see the quality of big men that have been the big ten conference over the last three seasons It's just been it's been crazy Garza daniel to rue guys. That have gone onto tanabe in the nba. And look at who's come back trayvon. Williams-brice jackson davis kofi cobra hundred dickinson. I mean there's just. I didn't even mention zach easy. He seven four guy So it's it's been incredible. Run in the big ten has been just absolutely loaded with big the last couple of years. Aren't you have one of 'em trace jackson dave huntley in the mix there. I mean what's it like you. You had one but every every game you're going up against the big time big. Yeah you know. I think the league is incredible when it comes to prepare. It's unlike your non conference schedule in a lot of ways because when you schedule in the league you know almost any given night it's gonna stop and start with some type of inside attack with a first or second team. All american who you know quite honestly can really impact the game in big ways both ends of the floor to you know when we start to talk about how hard is score on some of the size in the lake but from the individual battle perspective. You're not gonna find more of a heavyweight night in night out have to bring it to to to the floor when you start to talk about the individual matchups between those guys and if you watched the year ago even like ravi. Last year's i mean the game really dictated on your best players playing well in they're going up against a guy who's there equal almost on a given night some cases and to me. That's what makes the league still unique in so hard to deal with and When you look at their returning as well they're not young cops. I mean you have older big strong experienced big ten players on a nightly basis. That know what to do in that makes it even more difficult. Sometimes you deal with. The young freshman is pretty good him but he gets whipped because he's young. That's not the case. If these guys experiences well next storyline. I would say. Probably the new coaches robby got three of them. Would senate indiana micro shrewsbury penn state. Ben johnson minnesota thought was calm. Honestly all three. Were surprised if you look at them onto all three of them. I never thought an assistant coach really would be hired as the head coach of of a major program and ben johnson kinda started and then there are other guys who followed suit What do you think of the new group of again..

"I think you gotta try i would. I would listen if viewer if you're chris beard. And you're offered the indiana job and you're at texas tech honestly in lubbock taxes in the middle of nowhere what are those things called that you know the tumbleweeds tumbleweeds blowing by your house can add it. You know if. I get a call to go coach at indiana you know. That's a premier job no matter what anybody says. Don't kid yourself about their record. Don't kid yourself about their recent history. Don't kid yourself it's been since two thousand two. Don't kid yourself about what archie miller did or you know. Tom crane one he wanted. Three sweet sixteens won a couple of big ten titles and they ran him out of there. And i got a. I made a big mistake. I mean outages. Eat it because he won there and they weren't never satisfied because they win at all. That's what the differences between indiana and always other schools. Going into the sweet sixteen. Doesn't get them horny. They want to win at all. They're not interested in going to the playoffs. They're interested in titles got five of them. That's what they do. they're they win. Titles i know that but before we can get back to winning titles read to get back to go to the tournament every single year like alison. These are bad examples because this year was a very strange year. But you know the blue bloods go every year. Obviously duke and kentucky go year but do kentucky north carolina kansas. They go to the tournament. Every year in indiana for a very long time was in the conversation with those schools as being in the tournament every single year. And that's gone now and they need to get back to that and then build to get back to final fours every year. You don't think that. Chris beard if he gets that phone. Call from indiana. Take his guy golsen whatever. His name is probably double the salary or triple it easy. And then he's coaching in the big ten at indiana and i mean they would lock him in the i mean honestly this guy like they gave archie fat deal to ten about oats at alabama. He's gotta do probably a little bit more at least beard been to championship game. He's done a little bit more. Texas tech. I go for him. I i think Oats doing a great job down in tuscaloosa. But i think he's getting ahead of himself talking about championships championships. And everything else down there. i don't. They're winning anything. This is bryan alvarez wrestling observer. Notable Developments on the College Basketball Coaching Carousel Scuttlebutt

"A lot of movement on the coaching carousel. Over the past couple of days the big. One of course was indiana firing archie miller. After four seasons. We talked about that on a previous podcast. So go find it. We're not going to spend any time on that here but let me walk you through the other notable developments richard patino out at minnesota and as up tuesday morning. He's the new coach at new mexico. State has quote parted ways with steve. Prohm depaul finally took. Dave laid off the hot seat list. Boston college hired earl. Grant penn state hired mike castrucci berry dead leg spin a pretty good right now. It's spinning man. Yeah listen we give the. We are gearing up for this tournament. We got we got more than forty eight hours till. We're gonna tip the first game here so as expected. We've had some movement on the carousel. So we'll let's get into a little bit of this This scuttle but here kind of take it job by job. Best job openings indiana. Let's kind of go in order. I guess second best job. That's open. I would say iowa state is a better job than minnesota steve. Prohm gets fired late monday night. His jamie pollard was on the selection committee so he traveled back as he should have to meet with promo person and do what he what needed to be done You and i both seven the podcast in january. We expected steve prone to return next season. But we also didn't expect iowa state to never win a game like he just got to an irreversible point. so he's done. He put out a classy statement on tuesday morning. And i don't know whether or not steve prohm will land somewhere else head. Coaching position this coaching cycle but he will be a head coach again. He did take iowa state to three inch tournaments he was really good prior to that at murray state and certainly qualified for. It's just a matter of Is there anything out there. That he would be offered or anything out there that he would want as for the job. The candidates we're early. But i'm told that this is certainly a coach that you know quite well as well i'm told jamie pollard definitely will be considering. Unlv head coach. Tj burger near the top of his list. I can't say that he is the favorite. I just think that it's objectively true. That tj also burger will be under consideration for the iowa state job along the likes of. You're going to hear puerto moser connected to multiple jobs on this podcast because let's face it especially if he wins at least one tournament game. He's just a hot name. And he's going to be attached to iowa st paul minnesota. I i don't know if you'd be a favorite for state. But i think his name makes sense. I think utah. State's craig smith might make sense and then a high. I do have a wildcard one. Uab's andy kennedy has gone to the sec. Good job at ole miss. He's just one year and at uab but he had he had a really good year. In fact i think he won more games in his first season. This past season than just about anyone. Maybe all of all of the first year coach coaches. So i think that's a fact no first year coach at a new program. One more games this season than ak i. It's just i'm lobbying out. There is a name that should be considered. And then i did see fran for shila tweet this and i do. I do think there's something to it. Like a baylor is a one seed could be in the final four. Hey first time since bill henderson all that good stuff tang is a is a high level power conference assistant that is deserving of an opportunity would come at a power conference level. I don't know. But i think it's only a matter of time before jerome tank. Its job as well. So i'm just tossing him in knows the league as potentially someone that They should consider or at least at the very least interview sets an initial pool of

"A hood rolling on on ESPN. 1000 Carmen York in at 10. O'clock for cross talk Greenie at noon, Waddle and Sylvie at two and Black and Abdullah At six o'clock. 3123323776 Honey, the ally was watching a lot of hockey last night was really good game. Coach Cee did his report earlier. It was a shoot out. Blackhawks got stopped on all three shots in the shootout and Lincoln and stop the first two and the third one went in game over Carolina gets the extra point. But the align I had a big game, they had to come from behind. And I will tell you the fans down in Bloomington and the Indianapolis area. None too pleased with Archie Miller as that club continues to struggle. What'd you think of that gay? It's a big win for the first time since what 2010 down there 2010. It doesn't happen very often for them to win in Indiana and blooming too. But it happened, but it just shows you the el noise at a different level. When we see Coburn the big guy 16 points and 10 rebounds, you know, on the catch, man. You just give it to him anywhere in the pan area, and he always has a great opportunity. Get that high percentage shot. I like him as a big man. You know, as the big man starts to fade in the N B A R as to not fade. It's being redefined because the big man now could be able to shoot the ball from three. You get to put the ball on the floor like a shooting guard or a point guard. Colburn is just that guy. Just just nuts and bolts inside being able to score. It will But you know the key that team cap you are really like Nothing like yes, I o R Fraser, but that Curbelo off the bench. Yep, That's now as a coach, You gotta tell me what that's like, Right? You know that core Bello is like a little spark plug for you. But you don't have room for him in the starting lineup. What's the sell job? If you're Underwood for Curbelo Ah guy when he's after he does Ah, lot of things, right? Yeah, it's nice having some of the guys that they have on their bench like I owe to summer only made two of 11. I think if I remember correctly, correct, he really, really struggled and he had filed trouble. But you get a veteran like trying to find Trent Fraser. Mm. He's a good defender. He actually made five shots. He hit four threes. And so he keeps you in the game. You mentioned Andre Curbelo. He played really well in the second half. Kofi Coburn inside. There are times that I don't see him out there and there are times he looks like he's Anthony Davis. And I'm wondering why he is up and down at times, Underwood said he challenged his team at halftime. I could tell you would Brad challenges you? The paint is blistering in the locker, alright. So careful. You say that you don't see the big guy. You actually do see him on the floor, but it's like you think he disses disappears? Coffee? Yeah, I just wonder at times where Watch him play and he is just a monster inside, ripping the rim down, grabbing rebounds, powering it back up through guys for a three point opportunity. Then I watched him at times. I'm like Where is that guy? He's very talented. Why? Yes, I think like I watched a lot of this game last night. Assuming it was it was nicely timed because as soon as the Hawks game ended in the shootout you you got like Adam of the last eight minutes if you flipped over to ESPN You got the last minute, eight minutes of the second half lining Indiana And then then the overtime, of course, and watching it like I owe you mentioned. He followed out a brutal call. That was that was a brutal offensive foul that they call that that was Doc. It was losing his mind on that one. And when? When I left the game, you could tell they were struggling to score Now. You mentioned you mentioned Trent Frasier Hoody. He had some. He had two huge shots to bring them back in the game to back to back three pointers. Then, on the next possession, he got fouled on the three point shot, and he went the line made two or three. Give the line to the lead. But it was interesting because he had plenty of opportunities with Io filed out to come in and make some big big shots later in the game that he was not hitting on and I'll give the line of credit. Blair Underwood credit as well. They fought back in a tough game in a place that they had not won in over a decade. So kudos to them because those of those hard fought wins in conference that I think you are building blocks for If you're gonna make a deep tournament, run, Pop, Go ahead, honey. I'm just gonna say big win against Iowa. And now this one gets Indiana that's called Momentum. Yeah. Joe Lunardi, who, by the way, Congratulations. Just got a long term contract extension with ESPN to provide Bracketology. Joe's a great, great dude. He's also the voice of ST Joe's basketball. Excuse me, fine. I know he's also the voice of ST Joe's in the Atlantic 10 so I would see him on the road all the time. Awesome guy. But He has them as a two seed. And you mentioned Curbelo. Did you see the pass he made in over time from the top of the key? We would always tell our guys don't bounce pass from the top of the key down the lane. Take it to the wing and diving in that that way and have a big guy like coffee. Get a seal. He did not listen. He bounced past from the top of the key threads. The needle And Coburn gets a dunk and made it 72 68. That was one of the best passes. I've watched it a long time. Yeah, just it's dangerous because that's where the traffic is right. Don't put it down in the middle of the lane, But he found the scene and you love that because that's that's court vision from Carmelo. I like him a lot, cap. I know he doesn't start. I guess if you're cultures, they don't worry about being introduced. Just be there. You're gonna get starter's minutes as much as we can. But he's a spark plug for them. And I like this team, and I'm just glad to be really happy. See, Illinois get it done on the road. I wonder what Dockage is. Show is gonna be like today. Because he he did color for that game. Yep. And one of the highest spots of the game. Is Mike without. You know, if you noticed that the Jets Yeah. Tim, I obeyed you. I guess America's happy I was away for a while like he's such a lightning rod. He loves it. But I wonder what this show is gonna be like down cap because, as you mentioned trying to chase Archie Miller out You know Continuity, like, understand, Bob, not Bob Knight. So what? That world walking in the door? You gotta wait through this right? Exactly. No. All right. We will cross talk with Carmen and your co. In two minutes to watch us on twitch. Hawkeyes can't back up their lofty ranking, suffer humbling loss to Indiana

"Leg. I think we might need to revisit. The word realistic. The definition is as follows. Having were showing a sensible and practical idea of what can be achieved or expected. I bring this up because on wednesdays. Podcast i asked you if you believed indiana had a realistic chance to win at iowa on thursday night you said no. I said no. Just didn't seem like a sensible or practical idea of what can be achieved or expected and for at least three reasons. One iowa is clearly better than indiana in the season to iowa would have the best player on the court. In the form of luca garza an three iowa was inside carver. Hawkeye arena where it inner with a nine and record. Obviously you know what happened next score indiana iowa sixty nine not n- is roy j carver famed industrialists rolling over in his grave. Norlander what was it like for you to watch and unrealistic thing. Become a reality late thursday night. Miriam webster defines the word regret as sorrow aroused by circumstances beyond one's control or power to repair. That game was out of my control. It was out of your control of conduct or an event giving rise to regret undesirable unwelcome. And as that game played out and as it got into the second half. I thought this is interesting. This is look this indiana getting a good win. I was really going to take this loss all right. You know what this is. This'll be something good to talk about on the. Oh wait a second. What did we say at the end of the last podcast. We said too much did we. Did we call it a little too far. Yeah did i have someone tweet at me. A link to the definition of realistic. You bet your ass. I did congrats indiana fans although you might be super conflicted this morning here because obviously you want your team to do well. Obviously a decent portion of you just love basking self loathing when archie miller doesn't performance walls coaches. You'd like you got a good win here. This is the kind of win. That's gonna get you into the ncaa tournament. like i. i think the hoosiers someway somehow they're going to be in that incident tournaments if it's because of a win like this. Are you suggesting that was a cpap win was well. They're not maybe it was. How about a vaulting win. They might not have been in prior to this game. Get the win vaulted. And that's even better than the seat. Bump vault vault launch it right there like a catapult right over great job i indiana i gotta figure this is probably a top five win of the season considering iowa's a top five team in the metrics. It is a game on the road again even though it's not a true true wrote environment. It's still a so. This is one of the five wins and think anyone has had the season and india. It wasn't like the squeaked it out they got it done. They beat an iowa team that i checked late last night. I'll bring up right now. Yes i was still third at ken palm as we report this podcast on friday morning and the win by twelve so a wonderful job. Clearly you know. That's the kind of game if i speak to. The hawk is real quick. And you're right. I actually have in my notes cover. Hawkeye's rolling over in his nest. Not his grave. He's really covering his nest That defense there is obviously problematic for iowa. That's the that's the kind of game. Where whether you're a fan. Or just a bit of a skeptic of the hawkeyes early this is why i don't know if i can take them to get to the final four. I still can get there. It was just a disappointing performance. What you see on on thursday night and what was your primary take away. Okay let me tell you. I experienced this indiana comeback. So obviously we we. We have a new president now and the country has been an interesting place to live in recent weeks and a guy with the high school with who was like a genuinely good guy but we see the in completely different ways In probably every election of our our lives. I've voted one way. And he has voted another and so he reached out to me and he said hey. Listen i i want to try to better understand like i keep hearing people say you know you need to listen to other people and i want to try to understand in an and you can see if you would it. Be okay if i reached out to you every once in a while and say. Hey well what do you think about this. What do you think about that and he. Here's what i think about this. And what am i missing. And i thought it was like a sweet gesture and so i said sure. Of course i'd be happy to talk gone. Eleven biden voters chatty to you like that by the role of the roles are reversed. And i said you know what i of course and anytime you wondering why so. Why does gp think this way. Or why do i think this way. And you want to bounce off of me. And i'm here of course.

"About Joe Lunardi like wait it was a Joe Lunardi that hit on the head but just kind of questionable thoughts on delivery from my guys Mottola in Archie Miller's Indiana says you know if you watch Sesame Street English and all the characters on Sesame Street talk and everyone gets all under second you watch Sesame Street you listen to the guys on Sesame Street for children's show every bracketology the children show allows an Atlantic ten Joe and Artie was my best friend used to help me all the time when I went to Indiana he needs a crap on Indiana the other day just so people will watch Sesame Street and I'm sorry so strange so strange like this is the first time for multiple people go after joellen are you just a bracketology is just someone of mixed opinions but here's something that no one will say but I'll say it it's college coaches some of them not all but there's some college coaches they just need the law they need to be embraced because of so much coach worship in college sports a ton of it a ton of it and so this feeling of what you you know I'm in right you know you're you're talk about us on the TV you are somehow get Indiana with third nineteen twelve record and then eleven conference in their underachieving ways under Archie Miller you are so good about us right that's not what this is but it's so over loved every coach is the greatest coach I've been around the the been around college sports for a long time especially college media every coach is great so Joe Lunardi doesn't have you in the his bracketology doesn't mean that you're a bad team means that in his opinion you're not good enough no not yet Seoul told talk about how he's in his basement in Cheetos and smoke and stuff but what what is that that's the first time I've ever heard multiple opinions about told RT in that fashion it's like he makes the bracket himself like he just protects it so he's doing he's just a guy that predicts it I've never seen that I never knew there was virtual forum I was surprised by that maybe I'm just not around enough to or maybe I'm just ignoring I've never heard that I just don't know what the hell's the big deal about him again he's just some dude that looks at numbers for rascal doesn't even look at the jerseys he looks at their numbers for their team and decide if they're in or out that's it that's that's I mean but but it's not like when Marty is the reason I mean there's a call if you're having problems according to Indiana it's maybe because your record and not Lynn RD yeah maybe you're just under cheating Archie how come how about you don't have a lot of quality wins about that well that sounds strange I don't I don't understand like the children are is not the reason okay I just didn't know that this one bring to the table like if you have a problem with your favorite because that's what you're not getting it don't blame Dolan RT just blame your team playing the coach that you root for our red Underwood talks about this season a progression for Illinois well I think we continue to to get better I think that you know as as we progressed I I think that this is a team that is very very young even though we we have a lot of guys with experience and then you know we added no we are located at a substantial piece and coffee and and it took a little while to identify roles yeah learn how to play with guys in some different positions I think Christmas break we we made a transition but I a little more off the ball put in train all the ball that saw both of those guys flourish units alter team so it is it's been a season of progression and getting better and and it's got a wonderful locker room got a great bunch of guys and and they're they're committed to to just just that getting better every day meaningful March basketball in the state when in the Midwest really good stuff so I don't know why as Eric mentioned Bradley getting it done always always nail biting when it comes to arch madness in St Louis you never know what's gonna happen we only got bounced used number now so that's good for them and then we'll see you I say they'll find we'll find out what that they get to the I NC double a tournament all right coming up next you can gamble not Illinois I mean Campbell legally wow this is under the hood shot at that whole.

"With reports of Archie Miller's party by the I. you credit union which unit and created the community are you the athletics what you've had about a week to get ready for the staff will be with you today just go back a little bit talk a little bit the last big thing for me right now is get back to the basics rebounding the ball playing solid fundamental defense Fallon and you know offensively clean some things up for four planes great pace and try to share the ball known we struggled you know it's come down to really some simple things turning the ball over not rebound the ball here lately and salad way too much so today's energy level in the in the adrenaline they'll be in the game levels the top notch but you have a smart and I think that's a big thing is being replaced more without Fallon and not turn the ball over so huge that physicality I know something that you were concerned with after the last couple of games as well well without question I thought we doubt it down a bit in terms of our ability to play in this league right now is the right now is physicals is gonna get in the nation every reading is is bring in you know a lot of muscle to the table and we have an answer that bells wells we need to take on our last now there's ever a is ever a step up to the plate moment where you're going to have to emerge and be ready to go today is that day because I think to do is is visible as any team in our league play terrific the other night has really impressive wins in the big and strong as well his concern about this pretty tame when you're talking about our defense we defend the paint you know they they do a great job of throwing the ball inside they do a great job of really working the ball into the low post guys I think that'll be a huge huge deal for us to answer that to it in today's game being able to send the post and being able to work as a team to keep it out of there second thing defensively the backboard produce great on the office in the last few was there I will gain the other night as many threes as they made I think the other thing I was so impressed with the effort level second effort level just guys Krashen imports of eastern Woodrow obviously tradio Williams in harms are gonna get there do they have a slew of guys right now you know lunch pail in a logical thing since they're doing on the glass so is defending the post and it's obviously rebound in our step one into your not gonna hold on yeah honestly I can hold him down we got to send the three the best you can and just the thought of it you can't get looser proctor can't get loose today that some guys step up and make some shots here's the defendant three often simply get played out turn the ball over against their post trapped in a trap oppose very very hard today our guys get the right answer the bell in terms of the bow strap and then we have to handle the pressure for court in which the attacks you know in screen in the sense if we don't get ball movement if we're not able to move the ball for IT was screen the defense you know they blow things up so taking care of it and they're PO strap and doing some things there's going to be good but we have to find a way for our defense to give us some opportunities in this game to get some easy baskets do you need to get up and down the floor in this game was definitely at home and it's been a sense of pride here that we would play with great case you have to play smart don't you can't play reckless especially in this environment early in the game when the when the crowd is in it and involved but we get use our officers us or at our best is to strike in transition from courts gotta get going transition as well got to find a way to get some easy easy touches that way but our guards at the place more with their ability to handle the ball past free getting to the free throw line has been a problem here the last couple ball it as and I think part of it is our aggressiveness around the basket or aggressiveness in transition our ability to not offense of rebound is really put some pressure on our offense not get easy free throw attempts and tonight I think with the physicality of the game the intercity other games call but getting to the foul line we've got to find a way to get there because it's such a big part of what we do talk a little bit about the healthy your ball club right now I know you we were without race you were without Joey I even know joy played he was ill for couple ball games a major major almost sector again we went through it here last week and a half or so obviously races injuring a Michigan state games taking a toll on our front court depth plus he's a really solid team guy out there for us and we need him with some injury was some sickness with some guys in and out of the faxes and what not so but this week was a solid week Forsman again race back slowly but surely each day think you'll be available today which is a good thing for us to get him back in the mix and I think that the guys that were under the weather feel a lot better so we had a full week of practice with good good reps with our guys back shooting the basketball such a critical thing in basketball without question I mean some so much of it is if you watch for do at home in the office he shot one of them shot as well on the road I think we're the same way but you can access the guys step up make some big ones today to start the game right here is for the players and sometimes it is that when I was a tough job but that's what requires in this game are guards at every step up to the plate when they're open awesome inside out and have some I have some some opportunities also penetration in some kicks insists type place and I would have to step up his guys you have to make some rival reserve so spectacular in the sense of the crowd energy and all those kind of things it's a special game is not a question I mean anytime that you have an opportunity to play in this type of setting that state of rivalry the rivalry game what it means to the fans you know it's it's just such a such an opportunity to be a part of it noting today extra special well a lot of different ways but without question today's game means a lot for both teams but the other big thing for teams were feel great about how we deliver in terms that after level from one another and you know we show some glimpses of really being able to be that team that can really play hard and plans selfish and those who are looking for today coach muscle thank you Archie Miller the head coaches report will be back with the Scott report on.

"This weather weather events, as they like to say to weather impacts and impacts Thursday. Whether now let me get let me give you real quick quick basketball from today and tomorrow night's unit to make a decision because all three of them plate essentially the same. Is this your quiz? Can you can do it though? But anyway, Ohio State beat Indiana today. Indiana such Archie Miller is not done so good in Bloomington. They play tomorrow at twelve thirty does Ohio State against Michigan state. So they're out. That's in the big ten conference tournament tomorrow night, six thirty Xavier winner, a seven of its last eight takes on defending national champ Villanova up at Madison Square Garden the big east conference tournament airtime. Six game time six thirty down the dial at fifty five KRC then at seven both you see and UK play. You see? As right here. They take on SMU in the American conference tourney from Memphis, Dan, hoard, Terry Nelson. Pregame starts at six thirty tip time at seven ESPN fifteen thirty it'll be UK against Alabama which rallied late to beat Mississippi. So the Wildcats take on crimson tide game six thirty seven o'clock is tip time. And then your cardinals go out tonight. They lose to North Carolina Duke has a six point lead over Syracuse Zion. Williamson is back for the blue devils. And don't forget tomorrow night. So the reds tomorrow night. Take on the dodgers will try to have somebody win the game and not tie three three. But a good start three perfect games from Sonny gray. So he looked good again in his second appearance. And so that'll be on Fox Sports thirteen sixty. I believe eight fifty is your pre-game ninety five is the first pitch Tanner, Roark who's one on one in the spring gets the start for the red lake. So there you go. I think I got it. Right. Well done. K you will play again in the NCAA tournament. They won the horizon league title by knocking off right state on Monday evening up in Detroit. Congratulations. How about that? The Norse second time in the last three years. And remember the last time they actually played Kentucky in the first round. And only lost seventy nine to seventy. They say this time they want to do more than just be there. And of course, everybody does. But I mean, I think they're taking that next step at least trying I love that. They have that fire because not every sports franchise in this down. Really, you don't you don't like so far what's in free agency, the Bengals an absolute disgrace. And Joe Joe Joe we'll get to that. And the clock our leading up to. But I think you ask Paul George Bogle. Yeah. And this goes back to as we talk about accountability, we talked about the. You know, the whole entrance exams scandal and all the different paying your way in paying somebody else to take the test for you accountability. At least in this particular case, there's been bonding, you know, what a million dollars each for the Laurie Lafon. Her husband. I didn't see with fleshy, Felicity Huffman, William H Macy at really see. What all that? Well, any of them serve a day in jail. Of course, they will not, but it dovetails into one scandal just replaces another scandal with your places another scandal. But you'll get back to local accountability. This gang of five thing it's been awfully quiet here. It seems the last couple of days last maybe even since we were in here last week seems like it's died down just a little bit. This will not be allowed to die as long as I have a breath in my body. I laid down on the street car. I did not really go after it the way that I wanted to because we are on a rock station back then, and it really wasn't the thing. But I will tell you every waking moment that I have and every opportunity I have on this thing. I will keep this gang of five thing alive and for a number of reasons not only because it's illegal what they did illegal. Not a bad use bad judgment illegal. What they did. They think that it's just gonna escape. It's just going to quiet down everything going to go back to normal. Then I see this story. And I think this is reported by channel nine. Ohio auditor, Keith Faber is going to officially investigate the actions of the gang of five. This was came out about eight hours ago. During his normal financial audit of the city. Not quite sure where the financial part of it comes in other than the money. Everybody wants paid back. Here's his quote, they knew better. And if they didn't know better than they need to be they need to go through their public records trainings programs the phrase, if they didn't know better should not even be in that sentence, anywhere favors said this in an interview. Yeah. CPO on Thursday. Now, here's the part of it that really chaps me. And you heard some of it in the news when talking about the wall, the emergency this and the blob blue that like you said when I hear that. I I just Charlie rouse teaching. That's all I hits it's often. Here's where it comes down to favor who I mentioned earlier, Ohio, auditor key favor. Republican also said he'll check in to see if the five democratic council members, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, have undergone public records and open meeting law training as they are required to at least once during the. Terms. Why are you checking it's too late? The lessons are out of the and the fact is the word Republican or democrat, right wrong. Right wrong. Those are the two parties in this country that we should have right wrong. So here's what I would tell you though, you brought up about how it's gone, quiet. I'll I'll give you a reason why believe that it has. And it's the fact that Chris smitherman came out with some comments. Yes. Again from from his now, deceased. Right. Well, what it was was. I don't see how it's not political. Yeah. The problem with politics for me is can't people be. I'm going to tell you. What bothers me most about this. And it's simple. It's nothing to do with illegal. Here's what I would tell you the fact that they they being members of the gang of five what they said and what they accused smitherman of doing their bad human beings. I'm sorry, period. End of story for me. I don't give a I could care less about their political party this or that for me, if I've a resident of the city of Cincinnati for which I am not those people are not going to represent me. And I would tell you this. If I lived in the city, and that dude became the mayor and twenty twenty one because that's what this has now turned into like everything else. I would move out of the city Cincinnati in protest. Absolutely. Well, there's no way that guy would. Govern the city that I live. I'm with you of the six hundred and sixty some odd pages of text messaging, all I need is that one page about him using his wife's disease as a political Lynch pin disgust by. Here's the thing. Then he comes out, and he is captured the moral high ground, and this pointed out in an article who is it Jason Jason Williams. He won he had it. He all he had to do a shish and just keep that high ground and watch it happen. But that's the problem with a lot of politicians. They don't know when they've won. And they just can't stop. We got to get people out of that mindset. We have to go right wrong. Not Republican democrat, not right left. Right wrong. Okay. You gotta do. And I'm swear to God. I will not let this go. If I have to walk around a sandwich board on me downside city hall. I'll do it. I won't do it like Bruce Willis did in the I think Diane three. Hey, by the way, I've got some sandwich board sign. I would do it. I swear to God. I'll do this is not gonna I'm not gonna let this go away. I don't know how many other people are as as pissed off about it as I am. But this is not going to be overshadowed by something else and going to go away. None of these five people should be representing anybody in any thing. Wrecked. Sandwich board. You say I got him. Let's do. All right. I'll do it. You'd be all you just circle city hall. Just keep walking around a blow up steps in. Speaking of sided speaking to sign something I'm going to challenge is a challenge I'm giving myself. And I want you to see if you think I can pull it off. And speaking challenges I might have gotten on the board o on our try something different challenge. Yeah. Our labor for the. I don't know this. Yeah. I can't take a full point for this. We'll see what we while. There's the struggle for the stake at the end of the UC games. We have what we like to call the laboring for life just to try to get out and do anything other than work. And he's gamble. Oh five. Up three nothing after one week. He's gable. I'm fan. It is the weekly reality check on NewsRadio. And I want to see if I can pull this thing off. "Additional charges for extras, plus applicable tax. No additional coupons or discussed. Watch again. Here at the United Center were Indiana false today, seventy nine to seventy five to Ohio State. The hoosiers record dropped to seventeen and fifteen year. Fabio Ohio State buckeyes move onto a nineteen to thirteen record probably have solidified themselves a spot of the NC double A tournament with the win. We knew that the etiquette put themselves back in that picture in a big way. Today. In fact, probably would have knocked Ohio State out because they would have had identical records, but that's not the case any longer. And now, Indiana probably finds themselves all you looking at an IT bid as far as postseason play is concerned. We're awaiting coach Tom Ostrom to join us for his thoughts on today's ballgame. He is designated to be the man who speaks to the post game show today. We were normally get as I said before Archie Miller for all of our post game shows, but because of the rules here for media in the big ten tournament. And of course, it'll happen the same way in the double A tournament while or the NIT I would assume because that's kind of the way things. Roll regard to the media. They do set up different kinds of rules, and you can't really get the same scenario for your sister or your head coach you have to take an assistant into that role for comics in post game scenarios. They want a cool down period, which I understand completely because it becomes a very emotional thing. Especially at the end of one season so to speak. Yeah. Cool down period for the coaches. But also, I think he's cool down period for the band. Make sure you don't have a coach from a losing team coming out here too quickly as these fans are a little emotional self. Yeah. I think it's interesting to see what coach from has to say. And we'll get him pretty quickly. Well, while we have the opportunity here. Let's first go to our hardest working player of the game honors today. And that of course is brought to you by Indiana. Eight one one do we have a winner. Devante. Greens are hardest working player the game. He was nine of fifteen from the field. They had eight threes, which was just spectacular in Indiana. Really growed the momentum that he created off of those threes in the second half guy.

"Eric science data subway hall about to get the second half of this fall. Michigan state leading the thirty five to twenty eight. Let's pause ten seconds for spaced identification. You're listening to Indiana, University basketball. Breaking news weather traffic by three. Apples. Up. Struggling to shoe watch again here today cannot afford to allow gets paid off to a quick start in the second half. They've got to be able to least keep the game even at this juncture and the first five minutes of the second half. I think it's political, but Indiana's outlet Michigan state. Let's take off your get off to a hot start. I liked what I've seen here from coach Archie Miller with his team in the huddle stare at each one of his guys in the eye talking to them about how they've got to start the second half year. And I liked the response from the Indiana team at least talking to themselves right now communicating as a team look like they were going to have to have a lot of energy here to fight back from seven points down you cannot afford as you mentioned the start slow here against this Michigan state team. If you take yourself too, deep of a hall. There's no fighting your way out of it against their way too. Good to season their fight right now for a big ten championship. So this means a lot to them as well. Your indiana. Gotta start out hot here in the second half cashless watch special. You pointed it out earlier has got seven assists in this game to go along with nine points. He's just he is definitely the straws Spurs with great. Yeah. He is really good. He runs the offense. Find the open man makes the right decision decision each and every time off the court. He is without question. The front runner right now for victims player of the year. We certainly planning like this afternoon. She gets day. We'll have a ball to start the second half yards. We'll end bam. Bam earthquakes out there with your on cashless. Winston Aaron Henry forbid state, Indiana, Cavs were Durham. Wargin. Hear a stashes. Western left side gives up the dribble. Throws rights mcquaid. He's off. We'll take a look so the free just a Smith for three try. He misses it off the rim and Indiana. It's nothing. Thirty seven twenty eight Winston private ride does down low fix it in who puts up a little runner from five feet away Xavier. And Indiana's doubt, you love it. Archie Miller recall. "We started a credit union and created that was a great four minute stretch there for Indiana. We're talked about closing out this game what Indiana needs to do to get a huge road win in the big ten which Baudouin's don't come along very often, especially against good on the teeth. Indiana has done the little things. What was a one point lead for the hoosiers has now gone up to three here. Indiana has played. Well, I know the three and a half minutes. Indiana's gotta keep the same focus concentration and effort here to close out this ball game. Every loose ball every offensive rebound. Indian has got to continue to do the little things to get this victory here. Now, I was going to beat the free throw line shoot one here. A chance to bring that deficit back down to one. But. But in the lockout city, execute the office. Then I love what I'm seeing right now for coach Archie Miller and his team playing with a lot of heart right now got to close out this ball game. Hawkeye ball club has a chance to pull within one as Isaiah bosses headed to the free throw line six points in this ball game. He's three for four of the striper this contest. Indiana sense out. Rain. Davis Morton and Rubio Lankford parial, you'll Moscow's on the court with a bear looks like cook. Nope. Cooks. Not in the ball game right now. The free throw by Moss's short rebound cubs. The Morgan screeners back in the ball game for the hawk is. Fan. So as we here is rob finished with a ball heads off, the Romeo. Langford gives it back left side to the two. Davis. The devante downloaded you want mystic. And there was a bang. Banging going on inside that time. And Archie is mad again. "A phenomenal performance by the Indiana basketball team to win this contest tonight, seventy nine to seventy five over Michigan state in one of the more. Thrilling basketball games received in recent years without question, one of the most important for an Indiana basketball team, Eric that was absolutely in the throes of a felt like a death grip of losing streak when this team needed it. Most on these guys just made plays. You look at the stats. We could quota in. We're gonna talk about him much better shooting from three rebound. The basketball at the end of the day this team made plays when they needed it most against the good Michigan state team. And when you're playing against talent like you're gonna play against in this league and coaching like you're gonna play against in this league times at the end of the day in close ball games. It's the team that makes the most out of the opportunities. They have the team that makes the most plays at the end that's gonna come away with the victory and tonight against the good. Michigan's eighteen team was Indiana. They made play after play after play a total team effort Gatti win for this Indiana team. And as you said at one of the more entertaining spectacular games here. We've seen the last several years. Unbelievable effort by these kids. And you know, when you give them up for dead. I guess is what makes them back either. It's just hard to believe that this ball club was able to put forth such a tremendous performance in the sense of what they were going through mentally. Well, even in the games that they didn't play well at end shoot well on come away with a big story. Besides the Nebraska game this team came out and at times came out well and played together and just went through these scoring droughts. Were it just wears you down tonight. Who's a different story in the shop the ball, very well from three point land. They hit ten twenty three's which was just really good. And and was able to keep them in the game early come away with. All right. We've got coach Archie Miller. Joining us quite early for this post post game show coach. Oh, what a tremendous tremendous performance by your basketball team guys really played hard. And then competed. I thought since coming on this road trip right here. This was a big opportunity coming in February.

"You hold your own rebound. The ball is day in the game. And then you go out and win the game scoring consistently at the other end. And I I think that's where Indiana struggled today. I thought they did a nice job rebounding. The basketball multiple guys going in produce got some size. But Indiana, the thought fought all day long inside the paint just weren't able to score enough points. Fifty five's not gonna get your many wins in this league. Produce defense was spectacular today. Indiana struggled offensively to kind of wrap up, you know, like a bubble around the game. Like what happened? I would say that was it produced defense was just that good. Rhode was held the four points in this contest. That is he's averaging eighteen point eight a game at twenty one in big ten play today only four his season loan. This is the first team all year defensively that is really challenged Romeo. Even when he has turned the corner and gotten to the rim really challenged him above the rim making it difficult for him to finish produced at a nice job jumping straight up in the air. Now, the rest let him play physical. If you're you're probably want some calls, probably probably one more calls at the other end. These officials let Purdue played very physical with Romeo all day long. And he struggled to finish over the top of these outstretched hands produced a nice job being physical without fouling on two of ten shooting. The basketball today for Romeo Lankford. I don't expect to see that happen again for the rest of the season. That's kind of a once in a lifetime game for Romeo. You gotta give him credit defensively eastern too. Nice job. And then that team defense made it really tough on Romeo today. Oh, I will return with head coach Archie Miller and his thoughts on today's ballgame..

"Back to the Simon Scott assembly hall for the final time tonight vicinity at a basketball team struggles and finds itself losing its third straight ballgame. They fall brass sixty six fifty one here tonight. Let's face facts here. The brassy is a really good basketball team. And we knew it was going to be a tasha coming into this time test tonight. We're just thinking then think the hoosiers get down to the first half again. And one of those situations where they just continue to struggle when they heavy slow starts. Now. It's becoming a major problem. I agree Nebraska is a good team. I think that plus the combination Indiana did not play their best basketball. Either end of the core we equates to a fifteen point loss. Right. So this is one that you'd expect Indiana to win you know, I coming in. I would have guessed Indiana won this game. But you gotta give credit to Nebraska. They've got experience that got some good players. They executed their game plan flawlessly tonight and got a very good victory on the road and the big ten. It's a tough place to play and win here. An assembly hall. Nebraska did a heck of a job here tonight crushed, and you got to give them a lot of credit and the biggest problem tonight. Archie kind of summarized at best lack of energy, not really looked like they were tired lethargic basketball team for you can't play that way, especially at home at especially against somebody this quality towers first couple offensive possessions. I made the comment that Indiana looks like their jogging rather than sprinting screens aren't nearly as cuts weren't as Chris the passes weren't as Chris I was evident from the from the Geico just as coach Archie Miller said this team was just a little bit less than what we're used to seeing. Both ends of the court. They didn't have their a game. Little maybe tired. I don't know what it is. But very evident from.

Date set for 2018 Hoosier Hysteria

"It's August. So expect the I you basketball news to slow down a bit. Now with summer workouts and the July recruiting period over though it won't be long before the activity ratchets up. Again, what with Hoosier hysteria now just eight weeks away on September twenty ninth on that night at Simon Scott assembly hall, we will see the official. I debuts of heralded freshman Romeo Langford, Jerome hunter, rubber finish Dmitri Anderson, and Jake Forster less than a year ago at last year's Hoosier hysteria event, Langford, hunter, finicky and Anderson received raucous receptions from the assembly hall, faithful win in a brilliant little strategic touch by Archie Miller and his staff. The players were escorted across McCracken court to their seats behind the bench. Each player got to experience what it's like to feel the low from Hoosier nation this year. Another handful of highly regarded Hoosier recruits will get to experience the same thing. Time will tell if the McCracken court escort becomes a recurring Hoosier hysteria event. But regardless Indiana fans will undoubtedly find a way to let prospects like trace Jackson Davis, kion Brooks, and others know just how much they are wanted in Bloomington and speaking of Jackson Davis. He made the biggest news over the weekend when he tweeted out his final six schools and then laid out his visit plans in discussions with several recruiting reporters as expected. Indiana was on the list along with big ten foes Purdue Michigan state. And I awoke plus Wake Forest and UCLA Jackson Davis plans to visit all six schools telling core Evans of rivals that he will make official visits to UCLA Iowa Wake Forest, Indiana and Michigan state with Purdue receiving an unofficial visit thereafter. It is widely assumed that Indiana is the clear front runner in this recruitment, but clearly, Jackson Davis wants to at least explore his options and lean all the way into the recruiting process as well. He should. Jackson Davis has a five star talent from the state of Indiana and Archer. Miller and his staff have made him a clear priority for the class of twenty nineteen. He knows he can commit Indiana when he's ready. So why not experience some other campuses to be certain while all Indiana fans would love to have Jackson Davis's commitment in the fold included so that he can anchor the much anticipated class of twenty nineteen and possibly attract other top players. The center grove, big man with the NBA bloodlines only gets to have this experience and make this decision. Once he shouldn't does the process as much as he desires and do whatever he thinks he needs to do to be certain. He's making the right call. We'll all just continue waiting patiently hoping that he decides Bloomington is the place for him to be because in state players like trace Jackson Davis are the kinds of players around which banner worthy teams are built.
