"Insert funky seventies music birthday of iron and and all hell broke loose with by normally easygoing laid-back sets of grandparents in a black man and three of his biological children have married a white women with three of her biological children and then the world began for me and my siblings as well. Now that we're all older we talk about it and much more humorous ways. I mean racism and you know overt kinds of political stuff and privilege. Oh my god was privileged so apparent an odd. I remember my stepbrother. Bill who kind of launched my acting career for me Bill junior he and i were searching for apartments in new york and he informed me that i was the one who had to go and speak with a landlord. Pretty naive guy. You know frankly. I just was kind always been sort of just kind of going through life easy. I'm privileged in that way. And i i didn't really get it but when i said why. Are you going with me. And i had to be reminded by my then like nineteen twenty year old brother because you're white and go. Yeah that's right and so. It was jeb so many of those kinds of stories coupled with some amazing breakthroughs my racist archie bunker grandfather going through a process of meeting my stepfather in calling him the n word to his face and various other derogatory terms and sarcastic remarks to over the course of about seven or eight years following the birth of my half sister barbara who we lovingly call are mixed peanut so here we go by. Stepfather began by by dropping off his white family to visit their white family on holidays over the course of seven or eight years breaking down fears and barriers and preconceived systematic racism. Type things to carving the thanksgiving day turkey it again. What was essentially a version of arc archie bunkers house. So i got to watch it. Oh my my frightened grandparents confused. "There is a place for everyone on our ship. I'm Archie Bunker and I'm your host. They were going to be discussing the subject of compound interest. So let's get started. So. There are two primary types of interest. There is one simple interest and the other. Compound interest and today were wouldn't be focusing on compound interest. Now, you do however have to know the difference between simple and compound interest. Now for simple interest, let's use an example. Let's say that you had thousand dollars and you gave it to the bank, and that bank gives you a CD CD stands for certificate of deposit. In other words, you deposit your money with the bank and then they'll pay interest in return for you giving them your money. So let's assume then they'll pay you one percent interest each year. So what does that mean for you? We'll after one year, the bank would have paid you one percent interest on a thousand. So one percent of thousand is ten dollars. So you'd have the thousand dollars you initially had at the beginning plus ten more dollars in interest at the end of one year but let's fast forward now five years later. Now simple interest what's happening is the bank is going to pay interest only based on the principle that you paid your initial amount, which was one thousand dollars. So. As long as you keep the certificate of deposit, then the bank will keep paying you ten dollars every year. So five years later you now have one, thousand, forty dollars, and that's because you've gotten ten dollars each of the last four years interest. So that combined forty dollars and that's added to your initial amount of one thousand dollars. So you're totally right now is one thousand forty dollars, and then this year is your fifth year and in that fifth year, the bank is still willing to pay one percent interest and that one percent interest remember is based on the thousand dollars that you originally gave them. So one percent of a thousand is ten dollars. So this year just like the past four years, and for every year onwards, you're willing to get ten dollars in interest. So your total at the end of five years is going to be.

So I have a feeling we'll be hearing from people on the phone by Email their favorite, Billy Joel songs. Let's head across the pond our favorite the foreign desk. Yells it down there at the London. Tom rivers. And and Tom I is is the name Archie for the Royal baby getting rave reviews. You know, it's kind of giving a gentle thumbs up. Lynn a lot of people are called Archie over here. It's kinda got the common, touch, and it's something that wasn't expected. I think people are going. Well, I don't know. But I think the kind of like it, and of course, the whole name Archie Harrison, kind of a son of Harry and then Mountbatten Windsor. So it's not a big mouthful Charles has about eight names. This is more more usable more that you can get it on a credit card. I thought it had a great sense of humor when need him the Duke of jug head either that was a great idea. Everybody. I think the delight Bob went on either of Archie Andrews are Archie bunker. Archie manning at always kind of, you know, get you going thinking about another Archie out there. Yeah. Archie bunker, Tom let me ask you the British people really buying this. Hey, we're just regular people kind of act. I mean, we're giving him his name Archie. And he's going to be a regular guy. Come on. These people are not regular people. They live in a bubble of unbelievable privilege. They do is paid for by the taxpayer, and they're mindful of that. So they they have to tell the line, but they would swing back to the years of watching Harry grow. He always liked to get out and try to be as normal as possible in your absolutely, right. He can never be completely normal. But he wants that off as much as possible to to this little one. And of course, Diana tried as best she could for what he married to try to experience normal things in life. Handing that that down. And she was the people's Princess, exactly. She certainly was while she I mean, she did some amazing things. And I think one of the most moving things that she did. And I remember this when she went remember when she went to visit aids patients aids babies and actually held at a time when people thought you could get aids just by being near somebody with a disease. You're absolutely right. He was at the forefront of that. And another big campaign. She kinda led the the landmines campaign when when a lot of other people saying, well, that's probably a good idea. But I'm not ready to anything about it. She was out there, and she was out there with with people out in the field. You know out there detecting mines and putting on the protective gear. So yes, she did. A lot of good stuff that way. Tom rivers ABC news on the foreign desk in London and Tommy four year, run Natalie. Our producer has a conspiracy theory because Harry came out and said that that the baby has changed a lot in the last two weeks. And now at least had the babies born two weeks ago. I went over that tape to I've ain't got a crypt over his words. Like. Look like a young little baby to me. So. Yeah. Two week old. Really? Well, I don't know. Then they got the big the camera. Was there news kind of you couldn't tell much any kind of pushed innocence, give us a little bit closer shot of of the baby. So they did get a fairly close shot of of the base, and it was nicely. Just taken a nap. Tom rivers reporting on Archie. Thanks a lot. All right. Hey. Interesting CNN story. Yeah. So Jeff Zucker the head of CNN he worked with him. And I told you he fired me I was gonna say. Told me afterwards gentleman. We've talked several times since anyway, he's been forced to tamp down rumors that Matt Lauer was going to make a comeback on CNN. Apparently, this is because lower showed up for zuckerberg's fifty four th birthday bash at the McKittrick hotel here in New York City, right? Don, lemon was there. And Chris Cuomo and paid six began reporting these rumors that perhaps lower was staging a comeback on CNN sort of like Brian Williams did on MSN but suckers now commenced to. That's absolutely not true. Not true for all Matt at CNN. Billy Billy Bush is making his company is making a comeback is gonna be on an extra kind of show lower can ever make a comeback. I I guess I don't know. How many years I don't know what the statue of limitations? But I remember Brian Williams did make a comeback on MSNBC. He was exiled there put there because he was still under contract. So they had pay 'em. So they said we'll might as well work. Right. Because he lied about being in the helicopter. Embellished stories. A helicopter down saved everybody. So but. Belching lion. William floated wound he was on top of the world. Absolutely time would have been the anchor of NBC nightly news for decades. And who's there now Lester Holt? Like him, you know, like listed you like any of the evening. Even though the other. I Donald will be David Muir on ABC. He's gonna but none of them have the ground on the show. Aren't we one of these days? Yes. We miss the Peter Jennings days in the Cronkite and Brokaw. I always liked John chancellor, John Chen. And he changed his name later. He called himself. John sheds a lawyer. Just made a sound more important. John chancellor, Dan, rather, though, I have to say really, well, he was so anti Bush. He was that was the beginning of the networks began to tip their hand bunch of liberals that they are with Dan rather. Well, he went after Nixon when he was a White House correspondent he did. "Radio show where you don't have to check your brain at the door on the biggest stick in the states and now live annex wealth management studios at Radio City. Here's Steve skip eating. Good morning. Johnson. A eight on this Monday, April twenty seconds up to almost fifty five degrees here at Radio City little probably a little warmer west as we celebrate spring. We are fishery now I know it was official a few weeks ago. But to me this feels like spring now Eric Bill step back and say we after a nice break. Now, Eric you're not old enough to remember when all in the family ran the first time. Yes. But you're wear the show. Yeah. Featured Archie bunker. I think most people consider him have big at this is how he's describe everything. I've been reading a lot about it that she'll care little counterplay played that character his wife. Jean stapleton. Sally Struthers rob Reiner meathead or call them a Polack on the air used a lot of terms that make a lot of people uncomfortable. And that was kind of the magic of the show. But here's the thing even way back then seventy one seventy nine. Talked about racism anti-semitism infidelity, homosexuality women's live rate. Religion miscarriages abortion, breast cancer. This was the nineteen seventies. And they talked about all those things from these. Now historic characters. They could fly today. No. Well, funny. You say that because they're going to bring it back. One night only may twenty second. So ABC are going to bring back all the family and the jeffersons with an all star cast a live events of the jeffersons. Now. Of course, they're owned by Disney broadcast big broadcast, Necker ninety minutes star studded tribute to classic sitcoms all the family, not just on the family, but the jeffersons as well, which was which was George Jefferson was his neighbor in on the family eventually heading off. Yeah. Had a great career on zone with the jeffersons. So they're going to put this all together who's gonna play Archie bunker, the iconic character. Winning about this casting. What you Harrelson? Okay. That makes sense doesn't cutting edge to hear from physically. I don't know that he mean Archie bunker was kind of a heavier sets. Get a thick MAPA hair smoke cigars how you can fix that. Yeah. They may do that. They may not know everything gets tweaked over time. Jamie Foxx shorts. Jefferson love this. Nice. Let's see who else. You got in here. Where am I going Marisa Tomei is gonna play Edith bunker? I cannot see that. Now, g Stapleton. Let's be a great fantastic. Looking woman versatile may for lack of a better term is hot. But again, you can fix me. You can uglier up. Yes. So here's the thing. You said you didn't think you could bring a show like that back. I'm going to actually take the other side here. I think now is the time when we should bring a show like this marry Jefferson's because what's happened with television. Everything's politically, correct. We've scrubbed out all the offensive stuff for the most part. And when shells don't do that to consider edgy and controversial this is the time when we need an all in the family right now. So every week on our television sets and whatever network broadcaster, otherwise we should be talking about these things because not talking about them. I think has led to the problems we have now we should be dissecting these things these issues everyday on television. And we're not all in the family coming back Jefferson's coming back. I love the idea. Now the question is will it fly today or will people be so offended even in a one? One day ninety minute live version that it's not going to pass the muster. So it is a live Burgess alive version how crazy could that get with? Woody Harrelson, aren't you? Here's the other thing will Ferrell's part of this thing. He's playing a friend of of the jeffersons. I'm just I think it's a great idea. Four one four seven nine nine one six twenty could this work today. Should it work today? I say, yes, I think this is more than the time to do this. We are a country that is enable and unwilling to deal with controversy. We want to push it aside. We wanna shame people that say say something that somebody doesn't like we want to humiliate them. And then move away from it as quickly as possible, the iconic character Archie bunker. It wasn't so convenient every week on your television sets. He was out front and all the issues I mentioned earlier, you couldn't get away from it. You could actually argue, and I might argue this because of that show we dealt with some of these issues for the first time on television, we moved away from the Dick Van Dyke show where we're Robin Laura didn't even sleep in the same bed didn't ever discuss anything controversial other than what they have for dinner or what his boss was. Doing and this show open those things up to conversation. Four one four seven nine nine one six twenty take a quick break. I'll take your calls and tax. I say absolutely bring it on Archie bunker. We need that right now. Glenn?.

College trustee resigns over Nazi uniform costume photo

"Pennsylvania college trustee as apologized and announced his resignation because a student found a nineteen eighty yearbook photo nineteen eighty nineteen eighty was almost forty years ago. Nearly I nearly dropped dead thirty nine years ago. There's a picture in a yearbook and he was wearing a Nazi uniform. It was a costume. You put it into context with a bunch of guys. They were they were dressing up like Hogan's heroes the TV show. It was for a party show theme and addressed as the Nazi soldier in a POW camp. A you couldn't make Hogan's heroes today. You couldn't do it. You couldn't make Archie bunker today. Oh, no. You couldn't make on the family today. But this guy, but how come it was? Okay. Then reruns are okay because we were just we were we were just so lame. We didn't know any better that you should be banned now, but it should be. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Hogan's heroes is still running this guy. Bob, Garth, wait. Who who besides being a trustee from the college board is also a huge financial donor has apologized and fallen all over himself. Apologizing is my sincere hope is that our current students will learn from my poor. Judgment thirty nine years ago and be more thoughtful than I was about the impact of their actions on others, I extend my sincere apologies to the entire Gettysburg college community and humble. To me. It's more of an insult for him doing this. Exactly. He just making the problem worse. Then just to say. Yeah. That was then this is now let's move on.

"Correctly. Yeah. The only mother fuckers are like probably people in like in the heat of the night or something. When people would say it in there. I'm like sure didn't even say it. There was that a network show. They probably don't even say it talking about just sounded has and has that five, but there's probably no way that they ever said there's no documented history of them saying we're the heat of a night. It was a show about like hops and like race and the south. I remember my grandma always watched it fatty. Oh, jeez. The one with what's his name was a movie are they? And there was TV's who was the put point the party Sydney's film. Archie bunker was one of the stars the TV show. Yeah. So it was it was bad. I've actually looking through this right now as terms of like the listed stars. And this is how you can tell maybe this wasn't the best way of doing it. It's Archie bunkers the star. But Tenet appears to be by season a different black, dude. Like almost every other season. Clearly, they're like why the fuck it out of here. Tracks hall weathers was unseasoned seven. Season. One was oh, I guess, oh, you know, what I guess never mind those kind Howard Rollins who. I don't think I've seen them besides here's an roots and other shit. Maybe he was on the whole time. Look, I'm even more ignorant than usual. I brought up a saying I know nothing about. Fire curtis. Have you had experience having to check a white before? And did you do it? Politely, say impolitely as a as a people of color that are tainted industry, especially the writer side for a room or you're the person personal color. You don't have to spell sell out anyone specifically. I would say, right. As wise. I've had the fortune of I've only had one job, but it's a pretty diverse ru there's three people of color, which like, I don't know, maybe that's problematic. But for me, that's like a pretty big amount of. That's great radio. Yeah. That's actually incredible. Yeah. It's been so that's been fortunate. Checking people I I'm I'm still figuring it out. I guess. Yeah. It's like I don't want to. I know that you don't know. So that makes it harder to understand this woman's position. Because if you're just ignorant than being mad at you as a whole like it creates a new thing if you're doing it if you're being hateful on purpose. Then like fine. We'll just have words being accident. It's harder to to those people 'cause I'm justifiably angry. But like, you don't know. So I'm almost matter at the system that enabled you to not know that you, but you are the voice box of this problem. So now, I don't wanna put the rage. So internalize it and I drink I think you could just so listener caller just to repeat what Curtis. And just repeat it to them. Or how about this just make this portion of the episode your ringtone and just put your phone right next homework or oh, sorry. I'm just getting a call from my child's father. Yeah. I also think if you want to be I mean, this might still be kind of rude one. But maybe it's in the tone of how you deliver it because I I see a lot of things that are probably very rude, but I keep a really calm neutral tone. And so that I think confuses people, but I think if you say something like these are compliments that you're giving like you're literally just telling me the inside of your brain. And it's filled with horrible stereotypes. So keep it inside. I get that. You're having all these revelations about how black people are just people and can be different than what you thought they were. But maybe that needs to stay inside your head. Because when you say it out loud to me. It reminds me that the world still sees us in this terrible light. I mean, if I heard that two different to be insane to not hear that she's going to be defensive for sure. But where did she get like she's in a room full of people who are educated in the medical field? And that must be her professed like where is she? Where is this white lady who doesn't know not to save these things interacting with black people that she has is just what she saw. She she saw video one time. I just seem like applying. Yeah. And that's I don't understand. I I understand how stereotypes are taught through TV and ship. Like, if the only group of people you've ever talked to before are not that stay oh type. Right. It'd be enough. Right. Right. Right. Like like yet. But that's sort of the the thing with culture. Right. You're like, I mean, that's why all these like Fox News people can be like, you know, racist. But like. But still be like, oh, I love my life with Tino, housekeeper whatever the fuck. You know, because it's like the cultural example is reality to them. And there's almost like no amount of reality reality that can jump in front of people. That's why television is the most powerful medium on earth. And we should all.

"And it seems to me that that image that you just talked about Kennedy as this wealthy privileged entitled. Kennedy with these kind of aristocratic airs actually was damaging to him politically his brothers. It was a different time in our. Politics is brothers were able to get away with that. But by the time Kennedy teddy was was running. You know, you had the sort of almost the beginning of the Reagan Democrats sort of Archie bunker, Democrats and the antiquity toward Ted Kennedy from the American working class was pretty strong as I recall it. Yeah, that's interesting. I mean, we talked about the way that Watergate and Vietnam really produced the first real wave of strong anti-establishment and anti institutional ISM in our culture, and in our politics, and I don't have the same memories of that period that you do. But I do remember the story of him walking down Saint Patrick's Day parade in Chicago, the for the primary there, and that's, you know, a a white ethnic working class town, and he was getting booed and catcalled and tomatoes thrown at him at one point there were firecrackers at went off, and he kind of his knees kind of buckle because it's. Always in the back of his mind that he could be the next candidate. It'd be assassinated. And I think it, you know, in all the talking I've done about this book there. I haven't actually talked about this. The fact that for all the abuse that people throw at Ted Kennedy much of it deserved for his personal behavior. I think it's still worth while to consider the the toll that it takes on somebody to be in public life, and to constantly be thinking about how they could be shot and any moment that takes a real psychic toll. And I think things like that play role not excuse personal behavior, but play a role in his some of his misbehavior, his drinking and other things. And so, yeah, I just think that's part of the books appeal to me is that it tries to be clear eyed about the shortcomings of these men also empathetic to their humanity. Have you gotten any feedback from Carter about the book? No. And I might actually see him in a few weeks. Our kids are off school, and we might take them down to planes to. To to watch them teach Sunday school. She is still doing incredibly. Well, we will be fascinated to hear what he thinks. It is just as a kind of a coda to this conversation. You know, this is not something that's part of the story that you tell but one of the ironies is that in their own ways Carter who's not remembered as having, you know, one term president and not the most successful presidency. Kennedy who loses this battle, but they both go on to post presidential presidential campaign careers that really cement their legacies in interesting ways talk about that a little bit. This story is not something that either side wants to focus on, but it's like many things in life. It's something that is really crucial in some interesting ways to their future. Success for Kennedy was getting past this obligation. This duty of having to run for president at some point. Once he was passed that. Once he had kind of exercise these ghosts from his life. He was able to focus more fully on being a Senator and to be taken more seriously as a Senator by the press, but also by Republicans when he was no longer a potential presidential candidate Republicans were much less skeptical of his motives for wanting to work with them on legislation, and he was able to get a lot done because of that. And for Carter. You know, I think I think there's less of a sense of oh, you know, you had to lose to get to the post-presidency. I mean, I think he would much rather one. And I it's interesting to think about what would have happened to the Democratic Party if you had one because then maybe they don't go through twelve years of trying to run left and losing until they get to Clinton. But nonetheless after he loses he goes through a period of depression. But then because you know out of that depression, he's motivated to start the Carter Center. And what the Carter Center has done has not only redefined the post presidency. For presidents to play a role in public life and in philanthropy, and the you know Carter has mediated hotspot conflicts, he has overseen elections in some places that are troubled democracies, and he's radicalized disease..

"Five five seven one dot com. John kelvin. How do we get the message out that it's the left? That's now Archie bunker. Give me some examples of it. You know, exactly what I'm talking about. What's weird though is that Archie bunker? I don't recall ever saying that he was tolerant. No. There was no lie. There was no self lie. With Archie bunker knew he was a bigot. And he he was proud of it America love it or leave it. As we're finding now. Particularly in liberal, progressive bastions like boulder my hometown. That's what it is love it or leave it. Three zero three seven one three eight two five. Let's get to the phones. Hey, kitty, welcome. You were John Kelly. Sarah. So glad to have you. Hi, john. Yes. I am a hundred percent with year perogatives. My husband, and I and my son came here in nineteen sixty nine when boulder was just a totally different place. And what was it like do? You live in boulder. Did you I've I've lived here since then. And I am in shock. You know, I can change. What was it like in nineteen sixty nine? When you were. How do you mean? I mean, just in every. Every John Reid every avenue, you first of all you could live where you wanted to without having to be interrogated and you could afford to live here. You know, I'm an artist and. I don't know. I just trying to welcome in boulders and boulder home to all sorts of artists, and and freethinking people. Yes. And nobody ever tried to shut our free speech down. I can't believe that you can't even tell people now that the sky is blue because they will wanna Wenzhou give me an example. I mean that sounds. I understand. That's how you feel. But do you do you have a hard example of that? Well, I'm seventy years old now I am not with my husband anymore. My son is grown. I'm totally alone and boulder I have to live and low income housing. And I get my groceries I have to use a little shopping cart like all the older women in New York City is used for years, and you wouldn't believe the things that have been assumed about me that I've been ridiculed for and the looks. I get every day when I go out. I know this sounds really absurd, but. I then. Verbally abused by bus drivers. I four have disabilities now. And I need the car also to like maintain my equilibrium. Right. And that car has caused me absolute hell in this town. They've accused me of being homeless probably an alcoholic. You know? I I don't I don't appear that way or whatever at all. And you know, I'm I'm so sick of it. I they've told me to leave several times. Who is hold you to leave? Pardon who has told you to leave my landlords if I don't like their agenda. They're planning on moving us out of our apartments. And they're not telling us where we're going there saying, we'll just take your furniture and put it in storage. And they're not telling us where and they're they're not giving us any answers. This is made me feel terribly up rerouted. They did this year ago. They instated this idea about remodeling, and it I know this also sounds a little bit dramatic. But it. It feels. I just don't have the freedom here that I used to have to even walk down the street. I'm still trying to get a good handle it. So when you say even to walk down the street, are you saying you just get hassled by regular people by the police by the city. Well, it depends on where I am. And what location some locations are much worse for me to be than others. I usually walk down the alleys now to try to avoid everybody. And it. I hate having to be subjected to shopping a king supers, they have interrogated me there. They follow me around with my cart. And you know, it's like they have not just one person following me. And watching me, I guess they think I have the car to shoplift. Like, it's it's really ridiculous. And this is not this is not just the this is not just recently. This is Dan going on for the past fifteen years. It really has changed. I mean, I. Older used to be believe it or not a Republican conservative town that changed after Watergate. And since then this congressional district of boulder has never had a Republican Representative never know. That's that's a long time. I get it. It's it's it's a hippy dippy place but coming to boulder in the eighties as I did early eighties. It was weird. It was it was hippy dippy fruity tunes. Wasn't intolerant. Right. It gave birth to the neuropathies institute a beatnik. Buddhist university, and it also gave birth to soldier of fortune magazine and press I mean, how how could both of these things. Survive and grow in the same place. Well, because it was real tolerance. There was real diversity people were not up in other people's business on my watch. You do everything they even watch me go to my mailbox. I it's unreal. Who who watches you the neighbors? The neighbors that live near me. I can't associate with any of them because they're just you wouldn't believe if I told you so I'm not even going to waste the time talking about it. Lonely in boulder. Oh, very I'm from New York. And I I was brought up in the mountains in New York where I lived out in the country, and I could I had freedom to enjoy the land and everything every square inch of this town is full of dog shit. Now. That that. They just if you wanna sit down in a park and rest for awhile. They they make you so uncomfortable. They you have to hurry up and go home. And I also lived in Rochester, New York. And and for that. I'm very very sorry. Well, I lived in the inner city of Rochester, New York, and I am not used to this racial division. That is so engulfed the whole contrary. I I would like to leave now, but really financially I can't do it. And I invest a gated so many places, and it turns out that the whole thing is escalating, this mindset is escalating all over America. I gotta run thanks for the call around your three seven one three eight two five five seven one three talk. Tell me. Are you lonely because of your political beliefs? As we are becoming more polarized. It seems as though and maybe this is just subjective. That if you're if you're a water, no anti-trump, there's a world for you. There's every late night show is for you every place, you go is for you. It's it's just fine. However, if you're a conservative. If.

"Does that sound familiar? So when we were taught about the evils of hate crime, the evils of hate crime is that it's not just a crime against that one person. It's a crime against a whole class of people because it is made to chill them to take away their free speech to make them feel unwelcome unwanted. It is made to injury group. I think there's something to that. Cross-burning bunch of guys in hoods get together chant about how how awful black people are and burn across. Burn it. Was somebody's likeness on it. Maybe they're there to threaten that one person. War, potentially. There. They're there to scare a whole bunch of people who are black. That's that's what conservatives feel congratulations. You are the new Archie bunker. You will never see that. You are the new Archie bunker. You'll never be able to get it through your head that you're Archie bunker. But you are intolerant. America love it or leave. It do you have another example of this. I'd love to hear your examples because my guess is they're everywhere. Not just the guy at the supermarket telling me to leave town. Not just the bullying. My daughter gets not just the threat I have of arrest and imprisonment because of my core beliefs. Don't you feel the intolerance? Don't you feel the intolerance? I get it. If you were. If you were a gay guy in the eighties, and all you heard was the moral majority. Focus on the family and Anita Bryant talking about how evil and perverse gays were. It would be pretty lonely. What does it feel like today that? Every late night. Comedian. Despises who you are. I know people who who don't watch any late night comics. I know people who watch reruns Johnny Carson because he wasn't political. Does Hollywood make it very clear. You're type is not welcome here. You're type is not welcome here. Now your type..

Who just couldn't stand? Anybody not living the way that he wanted to live. He was the perfect caricature of America love it or leave. It. America love it or leave it. Now, it's the left. So what is it? What is it that I'm supposed to do? Leave. I remember this was in a. My local king superstores is a few years back. And going in line and somebody there recognize me which happens every now, and then and they said, you're that Caldera guy and put out my hand. And I said, yeah, hi, I'm John Kelly Dera, and he looked at me and just blurted out. Why don't you just effing leave? My response was and miss all the tolerance and diversity. That boulder has to offer. How could I not? For a lot of people in boulder. I've been here longer. I've been here longer. Been in Colorado since one thousand nine hundred seventy seventy one somebody like that. When I was just a pup bit in boulder since I was in college thousand eighty four I still live in boulder. I've never felt more unwelcome in a place that clings to be welcoming. It really is tremendous. And it's become clear that people never see their own bigotry. And while we lampooned the bigotry of Archie bunker, and Donald Trump. The left doesn't top to their bigotry. You know, what would be a real win for me? Is if the city of boulder the city council boulder, which has now turned me into a criminal. Admitted. Yes, we are intolerant. We will take down all the signs that we have that talk about how tolerant we are. We'll stop doing all this stuff. We do to Pat ourselves on the back for being diverse welcoming and protecting different minorities that feel disenfranchised. We're going to stop doing that. And just admit we want things the way we want things, and we're just as bigoted as Archie bunker.
