"Busiest guy. I know Tom Brew from Sports Illustrated Indiana Tom. This has been been a busy week. New basketball coach, New assistance people in and out of the portal. It's cool to be you and Sports Illustrated Indiana. Is it not? Well, It's Yeah, it's cool. If you like working 18 20 hours days, which I do, it's just non stop because You know, you don't know how the Indiana basketball fan bases. I mean, they just salivate over every last little number of dudes. Thankfully, we've been able to bring them a whole lot of it since Archie Miller was fired on March 15th. It's been has definitely been a very, very crazy three weeks and change. It's been a whirlwind. I would dare say that there weren't a lot of surprises when the decision was made to change coaches were there. No, I don't think so. I mean it. Just it just it just gotten so bad. And there was there was no light at the end of the tunnel. There was no, uh, hope for a quick turnaround next year or, you know, just like, you know, one kid in the recurring class. Yeah, right. Everything was just trending in the wrong direction just and you know, And you know for Scott Colson, you know? Has been around national championship winning programs and do understands how important it is for Indiana basketball, the relevant you know, he just he knew something had to be done. And, you know, the worst thing that you could ever have in a program is apathy, and that's what was happening. Indiana basketball. I knew many, many people who call themselves aren't are you basketball fans weren't even watching games anymore. They just could care less, You know, right? Sector scored the end of the night, and that was it And that's the worst thing you could ever have. Is people just not caring anymore where they're certainly not apathetic right now, are they? I mean, there's there's over. There's.

"Thought Chad was what was correct and how he described the role he is the associate head coach. You know, there are assistant coaches. Then there's an associate head coach. That's the highest level meaning more responsibilities, and that honor was given to him. He was promoted to that. Well that you see under Mick and has that title at U. C L. A Which designates the respect and the job responsibility that comes with his position. Um I'm a big Darren Savino fan. Eric Martin situation is interesting from this standpoint. Eriks 49. I don't have to tell you about his. You see, playing days is a member of the final 14. Has never been a head coach. It spent time at Kansas State. She was a Cincinnati state assistant. If I remember correctly spent time at Kansas State and has been with hugs since 2007 A long time. I think I think that's right. That's a long time. He does not hold the title associate head coach. I'm trying to remember who Google Bob Huggins coaching staff. It is not Eric, who has that title. I'm not taking that. I'm not using that as a criticism. It's just a designation that he does not hold That title is associate head coach. On the team. I'm scrambling to look at his coaching staff. Here it is. I pull it up it. Zoe, Larry Harrison. Long time you see guy, Larry Harrison is the associate head coach. And then it's Eric Martin and Ron Everhart. Um Part of the equation, and it's the question I ask of you. Of the previous caller who mentioned Kenny Pain. What? What are you looking for? You see in the pecking order in terms of attractiveness. Is it something that commands Proven head coach. And up and coming Head coach. And up, incoming assistant head coach. Vs This situation right now and the murkiness of the situation. And then you you can factor in the money equation. The Archie Miller payout was $10 million from in Indiana. I would assume that whatever Let's just say, for argument's sake right now say, you see, hired Archie for two million a year. That would reduce I used by out to eight million, I think is that is that how would wear or it is it is it for multiple years if they say they hired Archie for four years at two million a year for eight. Does that mean I You always you always him. Two million. Maybe that's how I think that's how it is. But you see, would not have to pay the full weight for somebody like Archie Miller. The other part of the equation. We don't know. It would seem that They're somewhere on the spectrum of you See? Going, John Brain and nothing. Knowing John Brandon. $5 million. Nothing if they have cause five million if they have no cause. Maybe somewhere in between. If, after all this, both sides said, Look, it's clearly not gonna work. Let's Split the difference here. Well, I'd love to know how much you seize already spent on lawyers. What the meter running on that has been during this entire process. Go back to the phones, huh? Let's go here and Charles. Welcome to sports Talk. Greeting plants. Paintings with Bob Huggins came to us from a division to school and then a very low level division One school deadman. By the name of Ben McCollum. He's already a bear cat with Northwest Missouri stages in the division to national champion three years out of the last four s. So what do you know what I mean? Just so I'm clear you want to jump in and I'm not. I'm not saying this is wrong. You want to jump somebody from division to to be the head coach here. Want a national champion three out of the last four years. She's proven he can coach okay, but clearly but you understand there's there's also recruiting and other things that come with that. There's a reason why coaches there's like a chain they climb, and I couldn't tell you the last time a division to coach was named a Division one head coach at it. It's something as high as the American Athletic Conference. I'm not saying it hasn't happened. I just can't think of one. Hugging well, Bob Huggins came from Akron. I mean he was coaching in the Mac. Yeah, but I'm not sure Acklin was in the back in the late 19 eighties. And I'm not sure they were Division One. Really have your crack. Steph. Look that up, sir? I don't know. I thank you for the call. I will. I don't know. Maybe they Maybe they were in my missing something. I assumed Akron was Division one. I'd look that up will continue. We'll grab Dave and Rick and Josh and Jim and more war all of this a little bit longer. Sure, I'm not opposed our mail carrier sports talk presented by Kelsey's ever like 700 wlw. Hey, any fingers here.

"I guess with guys. Like terry who i mean. It's like we can't call them. Thank you terry has been around the program since shortly after he graduated. And i wanna think i wanna say he worked on. Staff and ninety eight or ninety nine is the video coordinator. He's had a connection to the program and to the best of my knowledge. And i know terry pretty well. He's never shown a desire to want to join the staff and learn and learn. The ropes says an assistant. Climb the ladder get a head. Coaching job all that kind of stuff. I don't think he's ever asked for a gig on staff. I could be dead wrong about that. We would ask. Terry terry obviously knows the game. But again i i don't know man. I hope it's a legitimate nationwide search of all the names that we've talked about the one that i kind of settle on his. Darren savino i again i. It's an athletic director. Who still kind of new on the job. Not a lot is known about him. I don't know if he has any relationship at all with darren. Savino getting mick. Cronin's endorsement doesn't hurt. I gotta think getting mick. Cronin's endorsement on the wake of what he just did. In the final four doesn't hurt. There is some cachet to having a final four associate head coach from a final four team. He certainly understands. The program certainly understands the market certainly understands. The dynamics at the school gets the league. All of that. So the darren. Savino thing to me would be really really interesting. And i'd be a big big proponent of that with archie miller look dayton grant. I love the job. He did it you d. I think he did a very good job at all. You that's reality. Not not only did not make the tournament. They didn't finish above five hundred in the big ten and he had some players like archie and people will say well. You fans have unrealistic expectations. And maybe they do but dude. Can you finish with a five hundred record in the big ten once like. That's not unrealistic in a place like i you. I really liked the job. He did a date night. A admit that. I am somebody who followed indiana basketball more closely because of archie it. Just it just didn't work doesn't mean can't work at uc see. I am a little jaded by what happened there. Kenny pains name is fascinating. I'm sorry. uk guy. Now with the next players love him recruits faceoff knows. Dude tight with guys in the nba. The john calipari blessing. Wouldn't hurt the richard pitino thing. Richard pitino chad talk about re richard pitino and john cunningham or they had before the relationship with each other at minnesota the day after patino gets whacked by minnesota he gets hired by new mexico. So he's been on the job for like two weeks.
Welcome Home Mike Woodson
"Indiana brought a legend home and speaking as a former player not as a broadcaster in a former coach. I couldn't be happier for mike woodson his family and for us woody. I mean i think. I speak for a lot of guys when i say congratulations. Welcome home and so happy to have you as the head coach of our program man a man. I appreciate that very much man. It's good to be back. What are you get the job. And i've always told people like you get a college job. I don't know how it is in the nba. You get a college job. And it's fricking crazy with the phone calls guys want jobs guys calling for other guys to get jobs recruiting. What's been your priorities. Since you started. Well the players right now the priority you know yes i have been bombarded by a lot of calls. I'm probably and i'm not exaggerating about a hundred calls. Oh yeah behind I mean. I still get calls. I'm answering the came on sunday. So i mean eventually i'll get back. 'cause that's just me i i i return all calls to say thank you or i can't help this guy that's important for me But my my priorities right now is trying to figure out who's gonna stay who's who's leaving and You know we gotta get a team put together here. You know quickly. So that's what. I've been focusing in all right now. What's what's your process for doing that. Well you know. I i've said and i spoke with each player individually and I've had them in a team setting. I'm going to meet with him tonight. all the guys. Just count it. Try to get a feel for where it is. And i'm watching a lot of tape right now and players as well. I mean that's kind of what we do as coaches and and i'm watching you know how we play last year because that's important Discount again a feel of the players that are here so But my main focus. Dan really right now is to sit down with these guys. And it's been tough you know. It's been a tough season for these guys with the pandemic and archie. Getting let go. I mean that's from a mental standpoint. These kids are they're they're somewhat crushed. So i'm trying to uplift them and tell them how much i love 'em and until much i want them to be a part of this great 'institution in his you know this tradition of a basketball because there's a lot of tradition here man. We gotta get back pocket.
UCL Quarterfinal Matches Are Set
"A lot to look forward to this weekend but really nowhere else to start beyond the champions league quarterfinal field is set in here to help us break it all down. We've got craig burley julian. The ron and archie rin todd. Let's go ahead and take a look at the quarterfinal matchups. the headliner. No doubt about it byron munich and getting underway april six. It's rematch of last year's final winner. That gets the winner of manchester city. Bruce dortmund in the semifinals. That could be an incredible match up as well other side of the bracket Madrid liverpool another champions league final rematch winner. That gets the winner between four and
Notable Developments on the College Basketball Coaching Carousel Scuttlebutt
"A lot of movement on the coaching carousel. Over the past couple of days the big. One of course was indiana firing archie miller. After four seasons. We talked about that on a previous podcast. So go find it. We're not going to spend any time on that here but let me walk you through the other notable developments richard patino out at minnesota and as up tuesday morning. He's the new coach at new mexico. State has quote parted ways with steve. Prohm depaul finally took. Dave laid off the hot seat list. Boston college hired earl. Grant penn state hired mike castrucci berry dead leg spin a pretty good right now. It's spinning man. Yeah listen we give the. We are gearing up for this tournament. We got we got more than forty eight hours till. We're gonna tip the first game here so as expected. We've had some movement on the carousel. So we'll let's get into a little bit of this This scuttle but here kind of take it job by job. Best job openings indiana. Let's kind of go in order. I guess second best job. That's open. I would say iowa state is a better job than minnesota steve. Prohm gets fired late monday night. His jamie pollard was on the selection committee so he traveled back as he should have to meet with promo person and do what he what needed to be done You and i both seven the podcast in january. We expected steve prone to return next season. But we also didn't expect iowa state to never win a game like he just got to an irreversible point. so he's done. He put out a classy statement on tuesday morning. And i don't know whether or not steve prohm will land somewhere else head. Coaching position this coaching cycle but he will be a head coach again. He did take iowa state to three inch tournaments he was really good prior to that at murray state and certainly qualified for. It's just a matter of Is there anything out there. That he would be offered or anything out there that he would want as for the job. The candidates we're early. But i'm told that this is certainly a coach that you know quite well as well i'm told jamie pollard definitely will be considering. Unlv head coach. Tj burger near the top of his list. I can't say that he is the favorite. I just think that it's objectively true. That tj also burger will be under consideration for the iowa state job along the likes of. You're going to hear puerto moser connected to multiple jobs on this podcast because let's face it especially if he wins at least one tournament game. He's just a hot name. And he's going to be attached to iowa st paul minnesota. I i don't know if you'd be a favorite for state. But i think his name makes sense. I think utah. State's craig smith might make sense and then a high. I do have a wildcard one. Uab's andy kennedy has gone to the sec. Good job at ole miss. He's just one year and at uab but he had he had a really good year. In fact i think he won more games in his first season. This past season than just about anyone. Maybe all of all of the first year coach coaches. So i think that's a fact no first year coach at a new program. One more games this season than ak i. It's just i'm lobbying out. There is a name that should be considered. And then i did see fran for shila tweet this and i do. I do think there's something to it. Like a baylor is a one seed could be in the final four. Hey first time since bill henderson all that good stuff tang is a is a high level power conference assistant that is deserving of an opportunity would come at a power conference level. I don't know. But i think it's only a matter of time before jerome tank. Its job as well. So i'm just tossing him in knows the league as potentially someone that They should consider or at least at the very least interview sets an initial pool of

Vaccination Efforts Picking up Speed in Florida
"The age for the general population to be vaccinated in the state of Florida for Cove. It is now 60 that began this morning. 60 and up without pre existing conditions. It's just the age and the more that Fizer Johnson Johnson Moderna manufacture the continue to drop that age. Let's talk about our vaccination process how we're doing in the state of Florida. But Dr Joshua Lynch's chief medical officer for Our health Medical center and vice president of the Florida Medical Association. Come, Archie, Doctor Good to talk to you. Good morning to you, Jimmy. Thanks for having me on again. How we doing so far. I think we're doing pretty good. You know, If you look at the national numbers more than 100 million people have already been vaccinated of those good part population, 30 35 million or so and have been fully vaccinated. With the other 70 million, at least having one dose and we're making significant strides. Two thirds of the population over the age of 65 already had one dose. More locally. Here in Florida. We have about a little more than four million people have been vaccinated about. You know, the population of 22 million you have about 10% of our population has already been fully vaccinated. And I think we're well on our way. Definitely down here in the southeast Florida reaching way. We're told that private doctors officers may be getting doses for patients. How do we When would that happen? And how do we know how well that rule out? Yeah, I would imagine that, as we increase as the amount of Johnson Johnson is increased here is only about three million or so doses that Johnson Johnson has has supplied. About half of those have already been used in the United States. But that's really going to be. I think, the foundation of the vaccination effort for private private offices who don't have to maintain the cold storage that that we have to maintain, and the other pieces is that it's only one dose, which is which is great because You don't have to worry about booking that second dose that we do in the health systems for for Visor, Madonna Right, Um Aziz goes forward we're supposed to get. I think almost half million doses of Madonna and Fizer plus Johnson and Johnson this week in the state of Florida. Are they being distributed correctly? In your view across the across the state. I think that there's a lot of logistics that way go into the supply chain of that vaccine distribution. And certainly hindsight is Is 2020. I don't know that anybody had anticipated depend up demand that we still have not just here locally, but across the country and so minor things that you wouldn't even think of like. When you open a phone line, you know, phone line, as you guys know, in the radio phone lines can only take X number of incoming calls. And when you put a call out to tell people is vaccine 10,000 people try to flood the phone system. It could crash the system. So I think that they're doing probably as best as they can. Everything is sort of predicated on the domino before it. And even though the industry that pharmaceutical companies are continuing to pump out as much as they can to get it into the arms of people, because that's really where it needs to be right, and the rollout is faster than we've ever done. I mean, you know, the the messenger RNA has been around for 30 years, We put it into a vaccination vaccination. Now it seems that works beautifully. But, um, But the rollout is faster than what they normally do for this kind of a product correct, And that's real. They're learning as they go. I'm talking about the logistics experts that these pharmaceuticals Always out it out. Yeah, This is your absolutely during the last year. We've used the word unprecedented a lot of times, But this is really I don't even forgiven. Unprecedented. This is this is historic. I mean that Operation works. Speed was incredible. Because if you think about it within the span of one year, you know, we had already identified the genetic code for that protein that was embedded into that messenger. RNA developed a new vex to new vaccines based on that technology and had distributed it and vaccinated people, all within the span in 12 months. That zoo historic.
Prince William responds to Harry and Meghan interview, says royals are ‘very much not a racist family’
"To respond to the Big Harry and Meghan interview is Prince William. Right. He's walking around, and somebody asked him about him. Let's find out what he said. Let's go thing doing with this guy s have you broken? Have you spoken to your brother? Since the interview have expected? Yeah, but it's the first on camera company hasn't spoken to him yet. But he will do have expected, Yeah, but it's the first on camera comment from a senior royal since Prince Harry and his Wife, Megan exposed claims of racism in the royal family from the racist family, sir, very much so they're very much not very much, not a racist family. Very much denial comes several days after Harry and Megan told Oprah someone in the royal family was concerned about what color their unborn son Archie's skin would be How dark your baby is going to pay. You know that that comment That should have been attributed somebody You know you don't just paint the whole family like that. If one person said that the family and what context it was said, and all that should be outed, right? Who said it? He said No. The grandmother didn't say it. Queen didn't say it. And Prince Philip didn't say well, who, you know, there's a lot of other Royals, not family did Prince Charles saying. Don't know potentially and what that would mean or look like the queen issued a statement from Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, saying the race allegations are concerning and will be addressed by the royal family Privately but composition friends, Harry told Oprah the racist remark did not come from Queen Elizabeth or her 99 year old husband, Prince Philip, and who said it Who said that common who remains in a London hospital after a heart procedure, But it leaves bequest remark of other members of the family and very senior members of the family, So it's a very serious charge. It is a very serious charge. That's why the name should be attributed to it. Now. Who said it? Prince Harry also accused UK tabloids of bigotry and creating a toxic environment of control and fear. They sees a group of female British lawmakers says the powerful papers should be held accountable for attacking Megan is a real sense that she was An outsider that she wasn't good enough for our royal family. The politicians are expected to demand a royal reckoning calling for a public debate on racism in the media at Britain's houses of Parliament. All right, so
Prince William says U.K. royals "very much not a racist family"
"Kogo. Prince Williams says The royal family is not racist, whose comments come after his brother Prince Harry and wife, Meghan Markle made bombshell allegations in an interview Sunday with Oprah. Among the revelations made by Marchal was that a member of the family was concerned about the potential color off her son Archie's skin. Marco's father is white. Her mother is black. William said that he hasn't spoken with his brother yet about the interview.

A statement issued today on behalf of the queen also says the couple and baby Archie will always be much loved members of the family and that the whole family was saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. It aired yesterday in the UK and Queen Elizabeth finally released a statement over all sorts of allegations that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leveled about the family, the firm as they referred to it. Privately, Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members is what she added. There's so much
Royal treatment: Meghan Markle, Prince Harry detail racism, suicidal thoughts in Oprah tell-all
"The world learned a lot sunday night. When prince. harry and megan's bombshell interview with oprah aired. But it also raised some questions entertainment and wellness reporter hannah yasharoffwelcome dives in. I feel like we could sit here for hours literally. Just rehashing the major points. He's feels like everything that came. Out of. Meghan and harry's nounce were such big bombshells megan revealing that she had thoughts of suicide while still living in the palace and not getting the medical help that she needed to deal with that. Despite asking for it several times there was another pretty dramatic moment in the interview when shared that someone at the palace later clarified. Not the queen or her husband prince philip but someone raise conversations about how dark their baby's skin might be when he was born and then on a happier note. Meghan and harry announced that for the first time that they're having a baby girl so baby archie. Who about one and a half is going to be big brother and that does add a little bit of light to all this after not only all of the hardships of dealing with leaving their roles in the royal family but also the hardships that they faced last summer when megan had a miscarriage so some questions came up. Particularly i think from american viewers watching when meghan mentioned the firm playing an active role in your perpetuating these falsehoods about them. So in the uk the firm generally understood to me in the royal family but from the way meghan was speaking it also seemed to sound like she was alluding to broader senior officials that work in the palaces well and she talked about how she felt that they didn't support her during their time there particularly facing lies from the tabloids that she felt like they didn't seem to want to clarify and then like we discussed asking for mental health support. So harry has said this a few times but he really saw history repeating itself with the way that his wife was being treated in the press and by the palace compared to the circumstances his mother face straight before she died so in there is from what they said they really felt lucky to get out of this alive which i think you know definitely puts into perspective why they felt. It was so necessary to make this decision to leave which megan made the point that yes a lot of the reason the hey she faces is more difficult has to do with her race But there's also this added component of social media that there wasn't at the peak of diana coverage and your even when willing. Kate got married ten years ago. It's a time for all of us participating in the discussion. Whether that's you know in the capacity of a journalist or the paparazzi or a fan or a critic weighing in on on social media to really like re what it is. We're adding to the conversation. And if it's causing unnecessary harm to people being written about or the people reading
Royal treatment: Meghan Markle, Prince Harry detail racism, suicidal thoughts in Oprah tell-all
"Tonight. Buckingham palace bracing for the fallout after prince. Harry and duchess meghan. Markle broke their silence with a withering set of allegations against the palace including racist remarks by a member of the royal family in what may be the biggest threat to the modern monarchy. Here's abc's deborah roberts scathing accusation from one of their own megan shared with us. There was a conversation with you about archie skin tone. What was that conversation. But conversion harry and meghan lane accusations of racism at the feet of the monarchy telling winfrey that a senior member of the royal family wonder how dark skin would be in those months when i was pregnant all around the same time so we have in tandem. The conversation of he won't be given security. It's not going to be given title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born. What and who. Who is having that conversation with you. What going to tell me who the conversation. I think that would be very damaging to them. The palace has yet to comment but the allegation detonated like a bomb. The news so explosive. Harry clarifying an important point with on. Cbs this morning. We certainly knew that meghan struggled with issues to do with race and racism during times of working member of the royal family particularly in sections of the press. What we didn't know until megan's interview was of course that shade experienced it within the royal family is something that will absolutely send shockwaves through the palace. Harry described at least by all accounts A monarchy that is Archaic out of touch bigoted possibly racist. Was that shocking to you. Absolutely not no no no the institution that is royal family has in the past number of years the found wanting it'd be found to be out of touch with its own people you only have to look at the backlash of the royal family. Had when princess. Diana passed away. The fact that it didn't occur to the institution that they need to come out and express sorrow express compassion with the rest of the people. Tells you exactly why it's case that did not surprise me. The big aji doesn't surprise me. The racism does not surprise me as for longtime royal watchers and the british public. Many are coming to the monarchy's defense a really see the point of insulting a ninety four year old woman and her family rest of her family and leaving unsavory was unsavory remarks about racism which. I really not backed up by factors. I can see if you're gonna make claims that big claims you really have to make it very clear what you're saying. We'll have a real family and speak jim. Just just be careful because they had country and we love them to bits and ain't got long left. I just leave him alone by the anyway. Some pushing back against the implication archie would not be a prince in part because of his race imaging. Lloyd webber has long followed the royal family shea at the moment doesn't qualify to be a prince only the grandchildren of monarchs get to be print so princess otherwise to any royals too. Many members of the royal family on she is the great grandchild of the queen so that full doesn't qualify for the title. Now the queen made an exception for george charlotte and louis because george one day will be king. Archie won't be if harry's wife had been white would the same thing apply that aren't you would not have been a prince absolutely so it had nothing to do with nothing to do with rice. Aren't you could become a prince. When grandfather prince charles becomes king. How is this playing out particularly among black britons today. We'll see the structural reasons of what it is. What i find particularly interesting. Is that people think that supporting the monarchy means. You can't hold them to account the queen is not beyond reproach the royal family's not beyond reproach it they do something wrong. We should call it out. Another bombshell megan saying her emotional distress was far deeper and more painful than anyone knew revealing. How while pregnant with archie. She was struggling with isolation and had suicidal thoughts. I just didn't. I just didn't want to be alive anymore. And that was very clear and real and frightening constant thought. She says she asked buckingham palace for help but was rebuffed. Megan telling oprah it all came to a head more than two years ago that day she inhering looked the picture of happiness at royal albert hall but behind their smiles up painful truth. We had to go to this event and i remember him saying. I don't think you can go. And i said i can't be left alone. I was also shocked by megan's revelation that she was happy suicide. The thought it just makes me feel that. What have they done to megan. Megan like like me as an independent woman. A career woman well educated women. What happened to lead her to that position. That made me sad. Mental health has long been an important cause. For harry and brother. William founding the initiative heads together to end the stigma around it for monica that talks openly about mental health and even run so important initiatives such as heads together which talks about the importance of it being ok to say it really goes against everything that the palisade that they stand for when someone like meghan being so alone and feeling those laws megan's time as a royal got off to a shaky start megan herself admitting she was unprepared for life in the royal family. She didn't know what it meant to be a working world that she went into it naively that she didn't know how to curtsy. And i was crossed with harry. Harry watched his brother spend eight years giving kate time. What was he doing. Why didn't he tell them. Why didn't he coughed a meghan. So you fault. Harry for allowing meghan be so naive hub -solutely. The couple has never made a secret of their bitter resentment of the british tabloids especially in what they see as a double standard of the coverage between and megan. The press was also very tough on. Kate middleton it was quite vicious toward her but it seemed to be different when it came to megan. What she went through is nothing compared to what making us through and you have to look at the comparisons they make constantly between and catherine that is just another example of how they're trying of how the press tried to drive a wedge throughout the jaw dropping interview prince harry and meghan praise the queen but harry could hardly conceal an apparent deep rift with his father. Prince charles i feel really let down. I will always love him. But there's a law of heart that's happened. He even offered his shocking detail that after leaving the uk last year. His father for a time didn't take his phone calls. Swati stopped taking your calls. Because i took matters and by that point i took matters into my own hands.
Meghan says royal family had "concerns" about Archie's skin tone
"Start out with One of the really tough things here, Okay? And I don't make jokes about this, but I do find this. Interesting. Okay? This is the first of all the first hour was just Meghan. What a surprise. It's really Meghan for an hour and then the royal kid shows up for the second hour. Interesting. Received tells Oprah Winfrey that somebody brought up concerns when she was pregnant with Archie. Their first challenge is pregnant again. Now, with what she revealed last night things they're going to be a little girl. With and she says somebody in the royal family brought up concerns about how dark skin tone the child would be. So do you have that go ahead of that concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born? What? What? And Oh, Who is having that conversation. Good question. Oprah with you. What So, um So There is a Congress it hold it hold up their separate downstairs several conversations a conversation with you with Harry. About How dark your baby is going to pay. Potentially and what that would mean or look like. And you're not going to tell me who had the conversation.
Oprah Clarifies That Neither Queen Elizabeth Nor Prince Philip Made Comments About Archie's Skin Tone
"Oprah Winfrey has said it wasn't Queen Elizabeth or the Duke of Edinburgh, who asked Prince Harry about the color of his son skin. There's been speculation about who might have made the inquiry. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and his wife, Megan, said concern has been expressed by a member of the royal family.
Meghan Markle Says ‘Concerns Were Raised’ About Archie’s Skin Color
"Last night, Meghan Markle. Uh, had something that was very, very shocking. I thought when she said the royal family was concerned over there, son Archie's skin color. In those months when I was pregnant. All around the same time. So we have in tandem. The conversation of he won't be given security. It's not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born. Why would why would he be a prince? Is that what she's clarifying here? I mean, I guess because I think when the When Harry and Megan gave up there. Royal status. Last month. They had to give up all of their British commissions like Harry is not a ceremonial member of the British armed forces anymore, and they were on a whole bunch of They call them patrons, but they're basically the Ceremony or heads of a bunch of boards, but the way they booted them out of that, So I mean, I guess I mean, it's the way she talks so far down the line anyway, that I don't think it was going to take literally the entire British family falling off of the continent for him to even be close to being next in line. Yeah, but But still, it seems indicate by what she was saying is before he was born. Even he was not going to be a prince. I don't know. I'd like to get some or, you know, maybe we'll find out more from time rivers when we talked him in 7 45 Prince Harry says Despite rumors he has not blindsided the queen over there, leaving the royal family did you blindside the Queen? Never blindsided my grandmother. Too much respect for her. S. So where did that story come from? Um I hazard a guess that it probably could have come from within the institution.
Concerns Over Baby Archie's Skin Color and Other Bombshells from Meghan and Harry's Interview With Oprah
"Will continue to I'm sure Is to sit down with Oprah and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. It was stunning. I actually did not think I thought this was gonna be a whole lot of nothing. Frank and I follow this stuff very closely. I really thought There. They were going to do their best to try to just, you know, put out the olive branch. But this was anything from olive branch time. Here are just a couple of the bombshells from last night's interview, apparently The Royals would not give little Prince Archie the title of Prince there was concerned because of his skin color. In those months when I was pregnant. All around the same time. So we have in tandem. The conversation of he won't be given security. It's not gonna be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born. What And who Who is having that conversation. With you. What So, um There is a Congress eggs hold hold up their separate downstairs several conversations, a conversation with you with Harry. About How dark your baby is going to pay. Potentially and what that would mean or look like. Yeah. Um so that was probably the biggest headline, I think, And that is gonna have repercussions. I'm sure I mean, just social Media is going crazy. Meghan Markle says things got so bad that she was incredibly mentally upset to the point where she actually considered suicide. She went to go get help, and the palace said no, it would look bad. On. The couple says that Charles stopped taking Harry's calls when they were planning on leaving, you know, doing the Mexica thing, and they continue to have a fractured relationship. They wouldn't say who that person was that had the concerns and made the comments about the color of little Archie skin. I'm gonna guess it's Prince Philip. I'm just because he has been known to, um Have some leanings in that direction. I'll just say now, do you does it break down politically along any sort of lines like left wing? A right wing in terms of wanting to keep the monarchy or do move towards a Republican conservatives want to keep the monarchy the rich? Want to keep the monarchy? Actually, Yeah. Yeah, but I mean, people love over overwhelmingly. They love the British people love the monarchy, although that might that might be problematic. At this point. I don't know. We'll see what happened. Do you think this will do
Harry and Meghan detail royal struggles, from discussions of baby's skin tone to suicidal thoughts
"It was a highly anticipated interview. That's already shocked much. The world for the first time. Prince harry and meghan markle spoke publicly about the struggles faced inside the royal family. The duke and duchess of sussex sat down with oprah winfrey and revealed more than almost anyone would have expected they say the royal family had conversations. About how dark harry and meghan first baby archie would be since meghan is half black and they see. The family spoke about not giving archie security or title. Also megan said she had thoughts of suicide while she was a working. Member of the royal. Family both harry and meghan said she pleaded for help did not receive any mental health support from the family. They wouldn't say exactly who said what to them. But harry made it clear. He has a good relationship with queen disappointed by his father and quote. There's a lot to work through there as for his brother. Prince william harry said although he loves him very much they're on different paths so far no official response from the royal family but there was at least one lighthearted moment in the interview harry and meghan revealed. Their second child is going to be a girl and she's expected this summer
Antone brings heat in push for Cincinnati Reds' rotation
"Reds played tonight and three hours against the kansas city. Royals perhaps not with these same amount of excitement as the night before her. Green and nikola delo pitched tj anton in relief last night against the dodgers and again that ended with a four four tie. I will admit to you. I get the purpose behind the rule that a team on defense can roll the inning over and basically ended prematurely as a fan. That's not much fun. Tony larussa has said as much. Tony larussa and i are on the same page about anything. That's saying something but above and beyond the outcome of the game which obviously doesn't matter. Tj antone pitch last night and he was phenomenal two innings. His fastball was ninety. Seven ninety eight ninety nine killer slider filthy curve five strikeouts two innings gave up. Just a hit. This is a guy who was a bit of a revelation. Last year made his major league debut with the reds early in the season started. Four games came in and relief and nine others and did a really really nice job. Here's david bell on what he liked from. Tj last night looks very lockton. Yeah maybe could've been the best basketball. I've seen include. Let's santa law so good last year. But his fastball of really good is everyone which means it just locked in a totally kind of grown accustomed to tj being very focused and determined so even those beverly in the spring doesn't surprise me at perching david bell last night talking about t j anto. I don't wanna make too much out of one. Spring training outing the didn't count. There is a lot of foolishness and doing that. But he is a part of a mix of guys who will ultimately answer one of the critical questions about the reds this spring. Which is who's gonna make up the back into the rotation right and even if he doesn't end up as a starter he could be a valuable member of a bullpen. that said goodbye to two quality. Relievers this offseason and rice laziest and archie bradley. But what role will tj antone bien after a good two thousand twenty. Here he is and what role he would like to be. Yeah i wanna start but wherever those. Tv's all right. Good short concise. It's the right answer. You don't get the sense just listening to that that he's going to be upset if he's not a starting pitcher but that is what he's been for most of his professional career one hundred and eleven appearances in the minor leagues one hundred and nine as a starter with different levels of success. I don't think there was anything about just looking. At his minor league statistical profile that would have suggested that he would emerge last. Year is valuable arm but he was. Era to eighty again pitched started four games when needed member wade. Miley had to miss some time. Sonny gray mr starr disc- he came out of the bullpen. Nine times and did a nice job. He'd really did a nice job last year. So now the question is does he factor into the mix a little bit more in the race to be the last starter.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expecting second child
"Santa Barbara is about to get a new royal resident. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, better known as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child. Yesterday, their office confirmed their son Archie is about to be a big brother. The announcement comes after Marchal said she had a miscarriage last summer. This could be the royal couple's last last child, Prince Harry said in 2019, he thought he would only have two kids to limit the family's environmental

"Could read that part of your story for us yep. Archie keeps a lock box in a bank in new orleans inside or things he inherited from his father. They're more than a dozen pocket knives including a beautiful green one. Monogrammed e. a. m. His dad always told him a man should carry a pocket knife. His uncle peyton told him to always carry a handkerchief in archie. Still does to this day. But the real treasure stored in the bank or buddy manning's pocket watches. There's one on a silver chain. Brother as you've come to know cooper over the years in sports he told you right that archie is really really really good at keeping in touch with people and that's not just talking about his closest friends. Apparently it seems like anyone he's ever gotten to know ever is staying in the orbit of archie manning and it becomes clear. Also right that you are in that orbit to you're one of those people. So what's your personal history with the manning's how do they show up in your life i wrote. I think the first big profile that anyone ever wrote about ally manning. It was for the times picayune when he was. I want to say a sophomore. Ole miss argentina. Livia knew my dad and they're really nice. Have a story that comes out someday. Get a text message from archie. So hey great story. But he i'm one of a thousand people right. It's not make it's like if you went to the manning passing academy and then you played a really good in the canadian football league game. You're going to get a text marching in cooper city. Just it's constant contact. He just never lose touch with people. If you're with us get used to the background noise of his phone. Just thinking that little apple noise. He's on a text thread with his recruiting class. They call themselves the dirty thirty artistes text messages every day to his children and grandchildren. And sometimes it's a bible verse sometimes. It's a motivational quote. Sometimes it's just a thought for the day but they're just among the many people getting the text messages. These grandkids right. There are nine of them. I believe and i'm curious. What their senses of the man. They're receiving these daily nuggets of wisdom from do they understand their grandfather's place in football mythology and the lore of the sport is played in the world. Did they get all that stuff. They call him read and they call gogo and it's pretty funny because the grand kids love red goco. Eli was telling me that. A his daughter a couple years ago was watching the book of manning and seeing That that thirty for thirty did manning decided to carry the football and you know at that means exciting number. Eighteen rolling the more difficult side the grow. From but manning is our target for a touchdown. How about that archie. Guy running around the field throwing bullets and playing like johnny manziel and she hadn't put it together and file. Eli was like that's read. What she started. Looks at the screen. Like you know it's got twelve heads. And finally she considers it and just says red was good. And i just love that the other hilarious story that they just don't understand is she was talking to you. I one day and she was like so you play for the giants and he said yes and Uncle peyton place for the broncos and he said yes and said and read played for the saints. He said yes. And so abby manning's father. The grandkids com tom. Tom so she thought about this. And you said who. Tom-tom play for can you i will. He didn't play football. She's not even in college if he's just like really no not. Everyone starting quarterback d. one or in the nfl and it just they just had no sense of reference for that we're tom. Tom didn't stand a chance. Well it is looking like all those non-football like tom. They're getting increasingly. Outnumbered right because there are more quarterbacks in their midst. There's all this buzz around the grandson arch. Manning cooper saw sure manning escapes it heeds deep ball and it's taught shades of eli manning. The david tyree in the super bowl because this year in the regular season alone. He threw twenty two touchdowns in eight games. As just a high school softball arch throws to the end zone. It's arts delivers getting offers from everywhere. Not just ole miss. He's getting offers from alabama georgia. Lsu tennessee down the line so it feels like manning that name really is synonymous with football in the south. And we'll be for a while. Oh no i mean we will probably see another manning in the nfl which is a tremendous amount of pressure to put on a sophomore. Because maybe he wants to be a marine biologist. You know who knows one of the things. That are gina. Livia or really good at. And i think cooper is good at because he's watched is to not let any of our fascination with their last name so to find its way into the actual family dynamic and decision making process. So maybe archie. Manning is an nfl quarterback maybe he becomes the ceo of tidewater moraine. You know maybe. He is a schoolteacher. You know who knows so. I just wanna understand. Also right when archie. The elder archie is watching young arch on friday nights. Like tonight when arch is going to be playing in his second playoff game of the season. What is archie. think when. He's watching him. is he. In this sort of nostalgic looking back sort of a motor as he deeply invested looking forward to the football career that arch may have in front of them too. I think he is fully inhabiting friday. Night i mean. I think you know the these are olivia jokes. But she should've kept track. About how many football games. She's going to but they are all in a new york. Giants super bowl is not more important than tonight's playoff game. They got some business to take care of on the field tonight. It doesn't sound like they're like winding down. Archie livia interesting. They are in the process of putting that big house in the garden district where they famously raised all those boys for sale and downsizing to a condo a couple of blocks away they joked that middle son peyton is the most sentimental and this just really really bothered him and they told him that no he. You know yes. They were aware that he was very rich and no he could not buy it. Because what the hell would he do. House and the guard district in new orleans. But you know that's a big house it's made for a family that's growing and that's not them anymore right. There's this passage that you wrote in your story that stems from when you asked archie if he had anything his dad's that qaeda holding onto and i was wondering if you.

"When i started reporting this. I wasn't like. I wanna tell the story of archie and his dad or this terrible thing that happened. I mean it. Just when i put the time lawns next to each other. He was when i realized for the first time that win this had happened and it happened just before. He became archie manning. His dad almost lived to see it. And you know. He wanted to quit and his mother wouldn't let him and he went back to oxford and thirty five days after his father died. Artistes junior season started. And it's still the best year in football he's ever had right. The standout game from that season was at alabama. It was only the second college football game that ever got broadcast in primetime. The first for an sec. Gabe what was that game like. And what did it do for archie. In his fifty one years later. And i still remember that. He had five hundred forty yards of total offense. My dad used to have a cassette tape of that radio call. Sort of like noah saved a grateful dead bootleg the greek theater. You know like it was like that manning. Now we're going to be exciting with leeann alabama at night on national tv manning. J manning has scored his fourth touchdown at night go. Manning throws a bullet people tune in to see a college football game. They sold pretty good one in birth. The legend everything that has happened in the manning family in the public imagination was born. That try again. Come from behind alabama and even the idea of archie as sort of being gracious in triumphant in defeat. You know all those years playing in new orleans and just getting the crap kicked out of him on that concrete floor. The super dome like the narrative was set. The legend was born so nineteen sixty nine. That's the year his father dies also the year that sets them on this road to stardom in football and right it is now more than a half century later. So how does it archie. Think about and reconcile the highs and the lows of everything that happened that year. That year exist is this sort of sepia toned nostalgia bit of perfection for almost fans of a certain age but inside the actual life of the of archie more complicated said fifty years. It's still my best year. That was a lot losing my dad and all of a sudden all the success and acclaim his life is consumed with opportunities even gave command performances to talk about himself and he almost never talks about this. I mean this is his pain alone. I mean you know. That's what i found. Really poignant that everything that was possible for his family and for them to become the first family of football or for people to talk about archie and olivia. Olivia's royalty or any of this. That is only possible because of what he did in that room and then in every day after the biggest inheritance children receive is the one they didn't receive which is whatever felt like to be in that room and to have to ask yourself those questions..

"When would the one? Hundred Twenty eight, million, dollar man look like the guy we were used to seeing we got it last night though many people would say sometimes when it's The New York giants, anybody can look good back there. Keyshawn J. Will Zubin presented by progressive insurance. All of our guests will join us on the Shell Pennzoil performance line that includes the legendary archie manning the father of ally and Peyton, and the grandfather of one of the best young high. School quarterbacks the next manning to come. We'll talk about that in just a little bit. We'll talk about arch with archie on the way but I I am sure the lion's share of our viewers and listeners watched Eli and Peyton out there for decades and it's good archie great to have you with this first things. First I mean what is it like for you as fans we have withdrawal but what's it like for you for the first time in more than twenty years there is no manning for a game to travel to or watch with your wife Livia on Sunday. Well it is. It's a little transition, a little different, but but we're. Not Quite as Gosh I I would still get. You know we went to a game I have to get up and pace sometimes or when we stay home watch on TV, you know trying to find a lucky chair, make live you get up and move around I. WanNa know the room watch try to get some I down on. So we we're not having that on Sunday We're not glued to the TV. Like like. We were when we did in the ten games, but we still watch, should we still keep up with got certainly players and teams and coaches in friends and but but we're we're doing just fine all all always good considering all the circumstances aren't you heard that you communicate each week with this year's top NFL peak Joe Borough. When did relationship starting? How did it start? Of course, Joe Transferable Mojo state to Lsu and LSU's just sixty miles up the road. Now, you know I'm an old mess man, which is kind of water lsu's rivals, but still you can't live in New Orleans without following Lsu and kept up with Joe especially when he got ready to start his senior year and and at are passing Academy Manning Passing Academy we usually have in about forty. college quarterbacks that our counselors for those four days during camp and not all of them from the big schools we got from small schools throughout the country but obviously, we had joe and that saw and and I by his dad to come you know his dad's a longtime coach and he's originally from Mississippi from a small town in Mississippi and I knew that but I never met him I'm I'm older than he is had we had mutual friends signed by the Jimmy His dad to come to the camp also and kind say what we do. So we just we got to know Joe there obviously followed him very close. His senior year at Lsu in that great season they had I mean national championship, my Gosh, heisman trophy. I don't know about you. I don't know about ever seen a quarterback play any better for for a season game in and game bow I mean every single week and through the Championship playoff championship game so just got to. Got To know Joe like. Like the way it kind of tastes care of his business, and then of course, the number one pick in the draft. So he kinda he had gotten to know Peyton at camp he leaned on pay oil bit. Kinda you know just things going in when you're number one pick in the draft and at the quarterback position, maybe how to approach a few things. So just keep up with his dad and you know it's not easy technologies says. There's a reason that team has the number one draft pick. So you know it's go. This is gonNA. Be a struggle and Joe's handling they Bayer well but I'm sure he'd like to have more wins right now you're not used to. And that is correct none of your family members anybody that played position like the lose at the quarterback. Spa We're hearing a lot about your grandson who could potentially be the next manning at the next level and I'm talking about big time quarterback and hate the put the type of pressure on a young man in arch manning but he played on national TV for the first time a week ago. How would you describe the difference in the other two in Peyton Eli compared to art this age? Well I I'll tell you a couple of similarities K. on he It's the same school and It's Kinda. The same program you know football's changed a lot over over the years in high school ball people are throwing it more now painting when they play they. Decent amount compared maybe to the other schools. But now you know everyone just about everyone's in spread offense everyone's in done and and they're throwing throwing the ball more. So that's one advantage I would say are Chaz. Overpaid in Eli Their offense is a little more pass oriented and the other thing he got to play his freshman That was a that was a huge thing for him. They had income, but quarterback, but arch was able to be him out in seven on seven drills in the summer, and then fortunately they moved this young man to receiver. So he was a senior and he he got to play and he contributed but so much experience that year Just, just play it just playing as a freshman. So now is a sophomore year and I think he's a little more confident gruesome over the summer put on some weight and just just get the Pie his dad, and the coach I think we're doing a good job of building this thing up too much i. know he was they were on the espn last week, which was a big deal for the school they build the team that they played but just trying to keep. Things in perspective and you know the main thing last year the same was Kinda Arch be a freshman I think it's really kinda carrying overlay. Let him be a soft born? Let's let's just high school football is a is a great institution in our country and the ones that keyshawn you know this it should be fun. It should be fun. So that's don't wrap this up with a bunch of pressure. Go Out on Friday nights, your teammates and. Play hard place mark..

I feel like somebody was writing jug head from like a very personal place. Because crying every time they were writing out that. I mean Doug Headway from. The. Went from like I like hamburgers to like really. Speaking great truths about humanity Pretty quickly in the series. Archie was always kind of a well-meaning goof. You know that was kind of his thing, yeah! Reggie gets more development over time because like he's the quote, unquote, bad guy, but in like the. I mean only in an archie ways the worst. Be, RT universe he plays. Pranks on people. and he. You know you get this. You get a sense that like he. He's under all this pressure from his dad. Who can never live up to and like that's part of why he's kind of a jerk is like he's trying to be the person he thinks his dad wants him to be and eventually like betty gets much more rounded out from the early days of Archie where she is just. I mean very much like a blonde ditz. Well who like. Just chases archie. In the very earlier cheese, it's not like a archie has to choose between Betty Veronica. It's like Betty's an annoyance and he wants Veronica. Like kind of the big ethel before big yeah, the the I think when it started, he had a crush on her, but it very quickly transition to she was chasing him when they introduced Veronica and Veronica's whole thing was she was rich and mean and manipulative at first and dressed really well. Yes, pretty, and it took him a while to evolve her. I feel like into somebody with more depth and more dimensions, and like they eventually give her traits. she's really business savvy. Veronica's very smart, and so like the fashion and stuff. Yes, but Veronica could take over her father's business and run it and be great at it, and that is made clear eventually in the books now I don't know if that's a plus, or minus because it just means she's a really great capitalist. Sure but. But, but she is given other dimensions eventually, and the friendship between the Betty and Veronica is believable later in a way that like early on. Veronica's this mean rich girl. Betty is very much this like. Marder. Character, who is just Sarah facing for everybody all the time and desperately in love with Archie and you don't understand why. He doesn't see it, and it's hard to buy like. Why would they ever Yang then later books? You get you get more of a sense that like. Okay these are people, and they have other than they round betty out. They you know she goes from just being like. Boy Crazy Betty to She's great at sports. She fixes cars. Everything yeah ours. She writes Gothic Romance Novels. She volunteers sorting everything she does..

"Like with all in the family again, I'm not trying to only go after characters named Archie. It's really weird. Coincidence that that comes up You know with Archie Bunker. You've got this guy who He's the main character, and he maybe not always the best person, but you're. You're not supposed to always like him right? It's the idea that you're supposed to. Question the things that he does or. and and in the same way I think of Archie from Archie Comics is sort of you know. Is he the most morally upstanding character in these stories? No, he's not. Is he a moral paragon of virtue, not really but You're supposed to. Look at some of the things he does with the little bit of skepticism or cynicism, and and say like. Oh well. Maybe this isn't the way to do things so. I realized that depending upon your mileage of all in the family that. I realized that all in the family's maybe a reference that like a lot of people are going to be like what the fuck so some people will know nick. Yeah good. But yeah, overall I. I really liked it. I thought that the way that they were able to preface all of the stories and give me some context. was, a really good way to sort of have A. Clean leading to a lot of the stuff because like there's a wide. A Wide Net being cast here and so yeah I We've got stories with reverse. we've got stories with like that present in alternate history of how people ended up on earth. How? Earth Yeah. It's like where can we not go with this? There's a bunch of one thing I found really weird. There's a section of like pinups of someone named Katy keene. I was like I. Don't even know who this person is. I hope she's an archie comic. Okay so so Katy keene. Never really crossed over with the core Archie Gang. In another book and she was a Supermodel, and she currently has a show on the CW. That just finished season one. so. Right, so so, why did they put those pictures? In the because she's an archie character is celebrating seventy five years of Archie. There was some little archie there. There was some Katy keene in there. You saw a little bit of Sabrina. You very briefly saw Josie in the the cats. Even I think they were. The junkyard dogs in the reverse still story, but like they're so. There's a little scattering of some other characters. Yeah, Josie was also in the Archie Meets Kiss Story. The story of the bunch with which I thought was kind of fitting because that sort of. for me like a lot of my interactions in knowledge of archie involves all of these weird archie mash up books that have happened and I think between the fact that we've seen stuff like archie and the punisher Archie and Kiss Archie in the Predator and our team Predator. Book is great though Yeah. I like it because you see a company that is willing to take these risks, and also in the same in this on the same note. Not Take their own stuff so seriously. Right? Not Take their own IP so seriously that they won't do those things and the fact that like There's a little comment from Alex I. Don't obviously this Alex Agora. Before the story and he mentioned like not only. Is it crazy that we had? Archie meets kiss, but he says before I wrote that book. I had written one other archie comic. I think it was. It was a well received issue, but it was like an online. Only one off thing in, he said this is what I wanted to do, and they let him do it, and of course You know he's gone on. I believe he's the one who wrote. What is the horror one with Franca via Afterlife with Archie Right? I think that's as well I think. It's Now it's the it's. It's Roberto I can never pronounce his last name. who also does Riverdale but now Alex Gra has has done he also did. Archie meets the Ramones I think, and he's got his own very successful series of noir detective novels set in Miami. So and he's writing the new a predominant novel so Okay Yeah. I mean Archie Archie means case was like the first I think big comic story that he did, but like he's done a lot of stuff since. I was GONNA say I thought for some reason that he had also done some of the archie horror sort of stuff, but maybe. I'm now confused. It's possible he did and I. Don't know it off the top of my head. I know a lot of archie stuff off the top of my head. That is not one of those things. But But yeah, no I I. Yeah I'm glad to hear that you did find. Some things in the stories that you did like while I was re reading it. I was like Oh God like. This is not when nick reads it all. He's going to be so annoyed, but. Bono. No, IT'S A. No I, I, I found it kind of interesting and like I. said like for me the fact that. They don't seem to have a big problem with sort of having this like freedom with their properties is sort of something where I am. That interests me so Yeah, and I've I've I've read like the Predator stuff and I've read some of I think. I think I was confusing. Alex Guru with writing another. 'cause I've read a few archie books. I think I was confusing. Afterlife with Archie with the fact that I have read his book the our cheese. Which is his? Which is the music one and while I was kind of like I? Don't know about this. They then had like a crossover with churches which like took place for like three issues. Why not in there were a bunch of Lake Churches Comic Book covers and I was like okay. put me down for all them. and. So yeah, just it. This freedom reminds me a lot of I. Think a lot of idea. W does with Ninja Turtles with ID W does with Gi. Joe where they're like you know what if you have an interesting story? If you are really different out there, artists like Tom, the only or someone like that in you feel passionate about this property Let's let's let's just make this happen. Let's just do it. and because I think those are often the moments where. People who look franchise books. Cynically, or they look at them as sort of attempting to just get their little niche audience, typically older comic book, readers who were like ice still really love the shadow, or whatever so we need to keep giving those people. The Shadow I think it gives those people sort of a moment of saying okay, we can do more with these books and arch eat certainly is doing more with these books, so plus such a range of content to choose from Lake. there's just so much opportunity for like you said. Pick picking some stories like when I was trying to figure out what I should make you read for so many options like there's the there's a series that archie does digital only called PAP digital I think and I saw that. Yeah, they have everything kind of like grouped by theme. Which for me is? Is Great because I could really drill down on like my favorite stuff, and it gets real specific real quickly. There's like a baseball collection because they've done so many. They've like a hundred pages plus of just baseball stories or like tennis collection there is Betty and Veronica on a boat which I'm going to read, because why would nigh and then there's just all these. Other stories that they've done throughout like the eighties in the nineties. Especially, they got a little more wacky with their stuff. My favorite one to references of course, our cheese RC racers, which was a series where the gang just like. Went and did remote control car races around the country, and it was like a wacky racist said up, and they had like villains chasing them I, think we all remember like the RC car craze soon. Let's find stuff like that. There's Archie BC. Where're it's like Archie, all the gang as as like cavemen, which you kind of soft super quickly. The end of that boys Louis A series like a sub series. They had within the Archie. Comics Moma There's chuck heads time police, which was recently like revisited in a new collection, which is very good. Where JUG HEAD IS TIME COP? Because why not? No other context needed There's archie three thousand where It's Archie in the year three thousand like..

"Wednesday or maybe I can subtitle with. I'll do both anyway anyway. Business Chat of. Yeah so this issue these two issues actually cover the death of Archie so rebooted booted. Archie is fine. Let's just get that straight. Yeah Archie had a total reboot in two thousand fifteen. It's fine sweat Renault's Kinda SORTA loosely based on we know that's all a mess but unmatched. Okay how'd you feel about this. Bert Phillips were you know I mean I kind of I mean. I haven't read a Lotta Archie but I mean I. I kind of know the players so I wasn't completely lost but I can't tell you. The last time I rented archie was so Life with Archie spends out of basically they wanted to have their cake and eat it too. If you if you're a team Baddie if your team Betty and Arshi they have a book for you if your team Betty and Veronica they have a book for you. It's like these alternate reality kind of time. Now some of the stuff crosses over some of it does it. What does cross already? The death of Archie. And it's pretty much the culmination of these two books working towards. That's kind of the backstory. All right for for complete novice nauseous. Basically like myself tell me I mean I think I kind of get it. But why can't they ever say whether he wants up with Betty. You're Veronica Marketing. It's the same reason like I'll put it to you this way. The same reason why Green Arrowhead end up with listen. Canary Nick Fan base. And you just can't pick sides in the Betty Veronica Kinda Archie thing is it like being a business owner and the reason you shouldn't talk about politics is because you're gonNA lie anger fifty percent of your your pace. No matter which way you swing exactly exactly right. I TSO Cheeky Fund. The will they won't they but but times too. I know you were joking. Just making racial situation Asian. Either make it or you know just end up with. Neither of them is the felicity. I mean I can Komo Sarah Veers Felicity come on come on your Oblast on where you at I mean I don't judge me. I mean I could see together. I could see the throttled just because Betty and Veronica saying Oh you know no. You're my best friend and you know we were both in love with the same man and I'm okay with that kind of ally mcbeal thing you know season when ally mcbeal. I know we're dating ourselves as far. Aren't you.

"Of. Sabrina is all about and they can do that for Riverdale. Maybe be beyond that breaks. I don't know that end of the day that's what it is. It just intrigues me. The Cynical Hellfire likes like you know like we said goody ready to shoot the right people like that. It's still deals awake teen issues and stuff breath and but it still kinda like harder but it still does it. Deal with very topical themes in a unexpected mine archie way you know. I definitely like old school archie. A lot better like give me grew groupie goodies and he did give me old school. Sabrina stuff like bagging. Checking me Josie and the pussycats live. The new stuff's not bad. It's not as I can appreciate it. 'cause it's updated for the modern you know team. Everybody needs to see themselves and in some kind of leader character. You know what I mean. I think it's Cathartic so you WANNA be a goody. Two shoes teenager no never been there done that. It's boring live your life. You don't wait till college. Your Life Kids at the world of story. Sorry Charlie. Are you like those those teams stories but my big thing or not. That's the funny thing is like I read enough death and destruction like spawn Batman. And you know like honestly I was just not faced before. We got PODCASTS it's like you know who's more relatable Batman Superman it all day every day no matter. What Superman is more relatable at the end of the day? Bruce Wayne is the billionaire he makes selfish choices. Quark Kate will was raised on a farm in the Mid West. He's that good manners. How the whole thing he cares about people in Superman he might be Jimmy to some but like you? If you're actually time to read some of those miseries. Their deep profound around super relatable speaking of teen stories. I've fine leaf finally watch those two crisis. Aftermath episodes with Kevin Smith last tonight. How much crime there? Oh you watch him at. Oh No I was Gonna ask you wash that. We'll know he really cried. No he was just hamming it up But no they had. They showed like the trailer for star. I just wondered your thoughts on it. And he was in a different changes in the body. Different Trays Star Roll. Also I don't know because I didn't watch it before I before. I watched this gap and give it a new trailer so coast to suppose it spring relief. Hammering Lebron that whatever tralee release out over and over again for that time man it's Late less actually just like a backdoor J. with out 'cause I mean they give him the back doors of the Justice League in Titans too. It's just like you got got appropriate pat. DC reading it. I mean they mentioned star or man in it so I don't know I think they're definitely going to have a flashback. Episode of impact in the mantle. They almost have to. She's very obscure. We're going to be honest and for the people that do they do that. Do you know what I mean. Yeah warming at least if he did these. CVS CW drama. There will be an excuse. 'cause she's a teenage girl inning. Mike I think because they robs that on supergirl they're gonNA give it to us on solid. Do you know what I mean. Why did we should've that car when she was a teenager because she supergirl girl like he got robbed that maybe started thinking like maybe maybe we should have a female teenage superhero? Maybe we should ask. That's probably came about while you got down in story. We could have just done wonder girl but you know nobody called those. Make It. Okay this song plus titans going on right now reconsolidate. While I'm not that crazy about the well I've been waiting on Amazon. Have a pilot pilot for ever will the wonder woman story so I have a lot of feelings about how they certain property property but at least forever deal you know the kid felt like if they like it they're heart failure and they actually do reap the comic books they they make really interesting comparison analysis on on on top layer. I will give that to the fan. I really do enjoy enjoyed riverdale founder late. They know that it's like weird and wacky and they embracing and really dig like old school. Archie in the reboot archie. I I love that show. I just can't get into your late and I try to do. It is just like now appears. Data's just like. Oh Yeah but the guy that plays Deaf Stoke is actually Veronica. "That you know. That's why like the death of it. It was just like the whole of those Oklahoma nations stories like okay. We got Iraq this up. We're pissing off everybody. I was GONNA say nobody. Read in Archie Comics I'm sure it's ever been the situation. Wait let I mean highschool in two chicks into me. Now how do I choose relate Rela- a especially if you're a redneck but like you know like I said you know. She lovable goal in. He does Kinda like in his business. He hurts people out purpose her. They're teenagers and teenagers make bad decisions. It's fine part of growing like that. To fifteen reboot. It gave a little more depth in a little more pesos. In a little more laid ability. And I'm just like in Riverdale okay my I was still like oh I could talk about. Archie was the use but No yet no on the wrong parts of energy I was GONNA say I don't watch Riverdale Tale so is it that much different. Even from the the fifteenth reboot. It's it's super different. It is a genre mess. It is a beautiful train wreck but I had to look away. I haven't really watched consistently since like the first half procedure one and were they. Were doing the murder mystery. And then every season they have like a musical. You're in the back. Check those out I guess but so is it like the CW version of Archie as aero is like the CW version of green Arrow very much so but on steroids. Well it's right Dr. Aw No it's like gossip girl meets Rhonda KamAZ need. Reggie aries no go a really old reference to cram all. I've been Heke you Charlie. I've been venturing Gorky Rookie back in my day my softcore pornography files. Okay our California California's watching retirees through the squiggly lines rabbit ears. Yeah we never cable all the way every day but I I enjoy this plant a lot of. It is just something about it like I like. I like to see them grownup. It's Kinda like as like some of my favorite winstone stuff is like when we get the public and Bam Bam all grown up in the future or you know they'll special FLASH FORWARD EPISODE OF THE SIMPSONS your favorite searchers grown up as adults. And they hit on something that you always wish I do you know when they became an adult. Yeah it was actually interesting that you know I mean. They were different storylines after this but that they actually. They gave him kind of a definitive ending. Yeah exactly but not really but if you wanted to reading archie at that point I think it was a great defended ending. Yes artwork with Very Archie. I'm not like this. Is the thing about archie comedy. I'm not a fan of old urging them not really a fan of wake. The artwork art style per se. But the coloring and the letter is like do work overtime because especially simplistic style. But with this one a lot more shading and and things like that and it made a lot more interesting identity. The Art we're it wasn't like super simplified. RT style. And I appreciate it. What's good for you know what it is and like what genre it is? I mean relax. It worked very well exactly and then I read that they everybody kind of something to do something to do. We gotTA overlook move. move an apple a lot. So that's up in the exit. Could appreciate a really big thing going on in the story China's well. He's very hoke asking his strong Michigan. Though that out there so okay who okay. Sure bye but I was just like okay. I get it but it's like even at archie funeral you can't you who the grieving widow is. It's basically both of them. GotTa play it up if I practice on. TV You know. Here's a here's a here's some grocery bag was just like okay. You're really playing that the throttle because it's like they both seem like the grieving widow. It's just like Oh my Lord I mean now that now that Scott Gene Logan have got it. I think this might be the new direction directed. They ever WanNa do like a You know our he'd grown up storylines like yeah. They're probably going to be at their awful you. You don't honestly at gossip. Girl is very much in the vein with books. Specifically are very archie embody Veronica kind of thing and they ended up choosing each other in forgetting about Nate so I'm like at that would be the ending that I I would like for Betty and Veronica I love when Betty and Veronica thrown out bugs. They spend time together like their little girl. Girl Gain Bike your day. I love that three Things like I really feel like in the end. Neither one of them. She ended up with Archie. Let Their girl the girl the power of grow. Oh friendships like override. All that in every bill like on the guy that's running the burke right now he might be leaning towards and I'm okay with I think it's too is about to be twenty twenty. I don't think girls should be fighting over boys in any medium. It's run its course Veroni. I'm probably needs to be Cheryl Burke of Betty Veronica figure out. They don't need archie. Yes I'm out for that too. They got that Archie Cheryl belong together secretly. You know your heart the fat what's happened to gingers. Megan sweet fleet ginger babies for all of eternity insult emerald petty and Franca thing and Ginger Baloney the android adult themes the look into the possible. Maybe future it would even funny Moments sad moment. It's just nice. Sweet spot of hitting all the national range for the kids as they were kicked the admiral blubbing house. Like oh just like the whole thing about you know old people not knowing about new technology these fancy new drives self driving cars ars. Oh Your Dad back your day you drive your car everywhere home and don't trust it. Aw Hashtag traff much as I love. Tesla Muskie's up to something. I'm leading all know zonal personal how far I'm crotchety but I was born crashed. Yeah I kind of accolade the drug had was a little mishandle. Not GonNa lie interbike why Reggie could really shoulder. I don't know I thought was was was that reggie knocked all the food over that one scene with the bat or whatever other story overall though. Yeah I guess like I said they had the kind of focus on cover all of that and you know they are traded on. I guess I mean jug I mean again. I don't have that that much experience but it just seemed like every every scene with jug head. He was either making food or eating food. The combined version of Scooby Shaggy Gatty he loves loves anything else. In accurate relate her kids who you relate what it it but it just seems like they gave him no. Pesos has just like everyone else. Got Something but just like every seat. It's just like joke or a horrible fear that that's Doug hand. I guess we all way on someone else in our lives like that. Yes yeah exactly. So gobble-gobble get a murderer you on your birthday fellows. No this right in the face. Complete the circle delivers overall. I really enjoyed the storyline. I think you should read. Just the life with archie overall value like biggest. There's only like during the Yes so not that bad. If you are curious about what the new archie would be like. I think this is very representative of the themes and things that they touch. It's not like a huge specify. Forget what number the regular archie right now. Now I know it's over two hundred or something and I have been crazy so badly that this is a good sneak peek. Are you really want to invest the time with those characters in the writers and stuff so solid B plus for me. Yeah probably gave it a B. It didn't it didn't turn me off. I mean if I had probably more again like I said it's one superheroes I don't know but you know for something non Superhero. I'd read it again. I really liked the offbeat stuff that that archie does as you look at the chilling adventures of Sabrina. That comic book was absolutely genius. I love how I turned Sabrina on her head. I think netflix acid genius job job of developing that in like really translating what that could take version.

"This is an ABC podcast today on our favourite conversations from twenty nineteen. It's my conversation with Archie Roach She's got one of those lives at so big. I wanted how it ever feed it into an hour. Then he tells his story with such grace and power. Archie Roach grew up thinking that his name was Archibald Cox but when he was fourteen a letter arrived for Archie. It is high school and that letter gave him back his real name discovering he was Achi Roach and that he had brothers and sisters. Let him to leave the home. We knew to search for his birth family one by one archie found his sisters and his brothers and he piece together his story. He discovered that his mom's family had been living around worn bowl at the mouth of the Hawkins River for tens of thousands of years that had been good fishing. They're ARPAN fires on the beach and forests full of life but when Archie was just a toddler government authorities took him from his mom mom and dad he was sent to an orphanage with his big sisters and then only zone to foster families like many of the stolen generations. Sion's archie ended up on the streets and drinking hod but through it all. He had music and once he got sober. Archie Roach became became one of Australia's most beloved and powerful singer Songwriters. He now has a memoir out. It's called tell me why hi Archie. Welcome to conversations nations. Thank you back when you were fourteen archie and you're an English class at high school and announcement came through the speaker. Who did they want? Went Down at the office. They asked for a natural old William Roache to complete come to the office. And was that you. I wasn't sure at first abusing my foster parents night which is called inside. been using that frugal ball now. Did you know that Roach was real last. Name it It was familiar and that there was something about the name. Data it Rang true so I sought after wall. That yeah I think I think that's me after I'm asking you a English teacher Myspace and I told her I said I think that's that's me. And she said well we get to the office and when into the office and and the secretary looked at me and I believe so I think Marshall said well. This must be a year. "Who's going into labor? She's nuts panicky bunker. These people have babies babies before they have a hospital. The hospital is still buzzing over that we already have three babies morning hospital three in the other one in a car and I wanted to build between floors people care where when or how many to be interested into nine modern birth control methods. Do that. Listen to this guy de the black kettle. You showing the black man who was far more educated than the bigot and without making a stereotypical Mendoza but it is a truism that you people do have more children than you can nominate handle. Randall was curious socioeconomic. Nothing personal well. Let me explain something to do what. How many children we have is because we love love each other to talk very intelligent means to what you know smile see? Shut up you face and then you realize. Interestingly only that he is then racism toward or prejudice towards your character as a Hispanic. So yeah it broke the stereotyping. Yeah I know this from my neighborhood you know. What the heck's I knew but I never saw the portrayed on TV so we love that rascal of that aspect and so did I? We're we're very comfortable with it. And I don't think he saw that on television that of a black man being racist towards a Hispanic and that's another trump. Yeah you you broke the stereotype cleaned the book. You baby on paper Funke you. You have a newspaper boy. The elevator story episode later won an Emmy One twenty two emmys for all in the family or producer. Norman Lear showed very real struggles for people like archie bunker and archie arguments with strangers in an elevator or with his family family at home represented huge cultural and generational shifts. That were playing out across the country. Norman Lear as a quote that he wanted to put the audience audience in the show. There wasn't about these fantastical people or stories that it was really an attempt to show. This is what's going on in people's homes. Why not have a show about that so people could really relate to it? I think it's interesting said we're talking in the past as if these were like you know. Here's what was going on at the time. Women's issues issues about representations family happened and then now we don't have those kind of any more but I do think you know it showed that really exposed American. The fact that we're still dealing with those shows how precious he was saying. These are the things that define America over over the course of his career. Norman Lear produced created or developed more than a hundred television shows and in two thousand seventeen. He was a Kennedy Center. Enter honoree many people from layers career and life came out to honor him and so did Archie. And Edith's chairs these chairs are the the actual chairs that edith and archie sat in and they are on loan to us from the Smithsonian Institution. On the family was pioneering pioneering Sitcom it made satire of viable primetime option for television networks and in so doing it paved the way for shows like the daily show and countless others. I was beyond honored to get the opportunity to talk to Norman Lear via skype. I could see his hat. You got it the face the faces right under it. He showed up to our interview wearing his signature. White Boat Hat. Can we tell the camera down a little bit here. Yes there we go nice to meet you. I see you again rather good to me. We have seen one another another before we have. We've we've we've Run into each other a few times. Says where's your hair longer. Why do I do? I not look the same. Maybe it's the you could be my eyesight at ninety six. Also a full disclosure Norman. I met a few years ago. When he gave gave me some funds for a peabody award winning web series I created call hall in the family which may or may not have been inspired by a show?.

"I know magazines startup Archie account. Yeah. I know I actually feel like she's going to are actually she's already saved that don't you? I feel like that to do you think she'll ever spire up in Archie hashtag? It would be like master Archie or say Archie Harris and I do Archie Harrison. Yeah. I could see it, it doesn't I can't believe I'm saying this, but I could see there being a hashtag down the road at this speed this quick clip. The fact that she whipped out that photo, the baby's feet less than leak after the baby feet coming out when they did. All right. Here's one that I will be able to answer you quickly, which is. Why do you think they're being so private about the birth locations ticket follow up? Why have they changed their mind on birth? They will or won't release, so they haven't no-one seen the birth certificate yet. But I feel like that just feels very in line to me of their whole desire from privacy. Like you knew they weren't going to put that out there. I feel right? Would love to hear any insight about Royal nanny's nightnurses. They seem hands on Meghan, Harry. But I'm curious how much they really have involvement in child rearing. So we actually do know something about this from Katie Nichols reporting. She said there's no nanny Julia was very surprised to hear that they are doing it for themselves. Julia skeptical. They're doing it themselves for the time being Royal source confirming that Harry has been busy changing diapers at frog Mawr college college football cottage. I wish it was the college I go to. He's doing it. All Harry he's completely head over heels in love the couple do, however, the hub of Megan's, mother Dory, Ragland. I mean, they're definitely gonna get a nanny. At some point. I'm surprised. They don't have one. I right. And I guess it's more of a reflection on me that if I had the resources, I would staff up, I would have so many nannies working around the clock hundred. Percent. But I'm curious though I feel like they're going to have to get some sort of help even if just part time given the responsibilities they have, but I'm curious weather. There will be as much domestic staff turnover as there was palace. Lies also feel the. It's a hard position to fill. I mean, obviously, I remember when Kate and William got that the quote unquote, supernanny shoes from that kademi of nannies, drummer, this, Mary Palmer one, like, I feel like you can't just get any, you know, Lincoln Craigslist referral offer this, I'll be so nervous..

"I know she needs to give some sort of seminar. So I guess the British outlets a little bit niff-. They had to make space for CBS, but they came out Meghan hairy. I guess their handlers said the press could only ask three questions, but they were in lovely spirits. Just overjoyed the affection adoration for this baby was clear they said it's been magic. I think that was Meghan line with the baby. Josh, do you any other takeaways here? I thought they seem. Sweet. It was you know, I feel as if Harry when he did his kind of little press conference on Monday. And then the one today I thought they seemed maybe more I feel like William and Kate. It was always a former when they came out of the hospital. This felt loose than kind of weed. I was into it. Right, right. As loses can be. I liked even mentioned. I forget exactly how she said it, but they said something about introducing Archie to their fam-. It sounds funny even say it just context and I haven't used. About an Archie Archie, especially when you're talking about the royals something about saying Archie, just as amusing. But it used to it very quickly. I think Meghan said something, though fact, what was it really? It was. We ran into the Duke on the way in or something like that. It's almost like dropping something that wasn't necessarily in the script. But she just noting that they had run into prince Phillip in the hall or something coming down to set this up. And I thought that was kind of casual and nice, Julie Yoon mentioned us and our Instagram story or posted somewhere, but the New York Times who wrote about when they asked to see the baby closer, I thought it was such a funny moment because also the reporters I mean, I do not envy..

"We're back talking with David wall of Archie McPhee in the Archie McPhee flagship. I suspect only store retail store. Right. Correct. Yeah. We're we're far too much control freak till it someone else try and do this. So other people can find your products. I mean, you have a catalog and you also sell through their retailers. Correct. Correct. Yeah. We have a wholesale catalog their sold all throughout the United States across the world. We have distributors around the world are products. They're they're the there's an Archie McPhee in other cities where you can go to a certain shop. And if you're a weirdo in that town, you know, what shop that is. But you also sell in certain stores where I would consider with all due respect to the store sort of the anti Archie McPhee. For example. I was recently in a Bartell drugs in the Seattle area. And I saw Archie McPhee branded products on the shelf, including the scream doll. Now. Bartels I'm gonna take exception to that. Because Bartels hit. Bartels is a Seattle local Seattle chain, and they know what's going on. And they know what their customers want. They are like a really good customer of ours. And I got to say they they get it. They understand what we're going for and Seattle is probably strange enough that we could have Archie McPhee in every neighborhood and Bartels capitalize isn't that idea by putting a little bit of Archie McPhee in every neighborhood in Seattle. All right. Well, I do shop and Bartels I'll say that. Is it a glamour for that purpose? So as we continue our tour, we we went through the rubber chicken museum. We went through the rubber chicken gift shop, we saw the rubber chicken, which is taller than either of us. I noticed the world's largest rubber chicken and great photo op. And you know, you can't stop by Seattle without getting your picture taken with the world's largest rubber chicken, and it's free. So we're standing by this thing that looks like a coffin as we continue as you look toward the back of the store we're sort of just to the right in the back corner. What is this? This is our bacon display. So we put all of our bacon products in this. Nice little cardboard coffin display, and it seems bacon is not the healthiest food. So it seems kind of like the way it should be. Okay. And what's your we've already talked about some of the various bacon things. Like, there's JIMBO bacon, candy canes. Mr. beacons big adventure, which is a board game. I hope it's a board game. There is Mr. bacon ornament. Apparently, the the bacon. Line is very formal. Because many things are called, Mr. bacon. And what is your favorite bacon? Item out of my favorite bacon. Product is probably the bacon. Bandages because I really liked the way the bacon looks when you have it on it's kind of uncooked bacon. So it almost looks like you're covering a wound with a wound. So when you're cured, then the bacon is cured. Exactly. The curing occurred all round. Obviously, this is this is very pop culture. And I'm just curious if the stuff that Archie McPhee's men doing for as many years as it has been has influenced others in pop culture. It sure has to two of our proudest moments one. Pixar the has a secret room inside Pixar, and you have to go through a tunnel in Pixar to get to this broom and not everyone even gets shown the secret room, but I have a friend who got shown the secret room, and he took a picture of me we had a product called senor mysterious and there's a senior mysterious. Oh, one of our products at the heart of Pixar, which was amazing. How about the Simpsons? I heard a rumor that there may be some Simpson's here too. Well, there's two great connections with Simpson's. There was a senior mysterious. Oh, spotting on the Simpsons. And also Matt graining is is it will is or used to be a giant Archie McPhee fan, and he had our Biba clock and used to gave him out a few of them as gifts and Bebo is one of the center pieces of our company. So that was a big deal for us..
