The possible John wanted an economic dimension to the whole thing, and so he talked about the imperial call to be anti Christ basically what most people are calling the new world order? And he stated that the beast or this beast causes all men both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond to receive a mark in the right hander in their foreheads, that no man might buyer sells save. He had the mark of that beast or the number of his name, and his number is six hundred three car and. Six, six, six, six, six, zero, six six. He would be injected with Lucifer. As which is you know that I? See. That's the thing patents and bills and six. Reject what is human? This is restart stepping into the territory of negating the spirit negating God negating faith negating at all. So it comes some secular enterprise, some silicon sorcery as I. Call It. You know once again it's it's the lab coat coup technocracy at its best creating weaponized logic to make you feel bad because you've decided to. Fill an easy about these fixes in these. I really liked that I really watched Amanda Lowering because. It's the mandatory and I was able to watch the mandatory and on a smartphone. That was pretty. Good on a small screen, but I just wanted to watch a full screen, and it was awesome. Full screen. Stereo the whole thing. have any through of all the Star Trek the new star trek stuff, but I watched I binge watched the whole star Trek. Picard series. I said that I would commit to it. That's the only that's the reason why I got in the first place. Right got the fire six. My friend told me you need to watch picard and you know what I didn't I didn't watch picard. Take I got it. That's the worst thing I watched star trek and I watched man. High Castle and Watch Tiger King Bright. So. The card series. It's I wanNA come in a bit about how dark. I felt the card series was a and yet. It's endearing to at the same time, so it's dark endearing. Did the original. Star Trek cast with William, Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. They all seem to be immortal right. They never died. Even even old spot came back for several episodes of New Star Trek. It was kind of bizarre. He never died and they never. They never got old. It seemed like, but the Picard story is more about mortality. And getting old, and what it means to be human, and what it also means. You don't mean as much anymore when you get older. And so it's funny, but yeah a lot about getting older, you know so having that that young spirit, but still knowing your limitations. And yet again it is ironic that the one to teach us all about life. And what it means to be, mortal is an android that's data I mean data. TREKKIES! We all know what happened today. The Nemesis Right. And yet I was really surprised that the character indoors in Bacardi I won't spoil the reason why he endorsed, but he's there. But it was funny because I remember. What importance the last two episodes of the series were. And the name of the last two. Episodes in this series was. Et in Arcadia Ego. At in Arcadia, Ego and I thought to myself. Why would he call it that? For me that that in Arcadia ego means a lot to me and the reason, why is because of Tracy Tournament? And Tracy of course was involved with a lot of before she got involved with investigating. Some of the dirty stuff was going on a governments and she ended up dying. Investigation. She was into. French Mary Engine Lor. The idea that you know that there are sacred bodies being buried in places like France and of course you know she was one of the. Contributors actually. To Davinci Code Angels and Demons I mean they didn't give her a credit, but she. She wrote a lot about this stuff. And one of the one of the phrases is this this et in Arcadia go means even Arcadia there am I. It's it's from the Painting by Nicola Putin from the sixteen hundreds, and what it is is the shepherds of Arcadia right. And they're gathered around this. It's a pastoral scene is gathered around this. This tomb. Tomb has written on it. At in Arcadia ego meaning even Arcadia, there my something. Important is in that tomb something that should never die, but has died. was put in that term now. A lot of people suspected it could be Jesus Christ. It could be Mary. Magdalene could be but it it you know it's the Holy Grail, maybe something to do with holy grail see historians traditionally interpret the I. In even Arcadia there Meyer. To refer to death itself the deliberately calling to mind the mortality that wraps around even the most wondrous idyllic moments of one's life, even the most ideal of human beings, whether they be saviors or not, saviors ended up dying or they end up. They end up with a secret that they take to the grave. And I actually suggested that in Cardio eggo would be placed on Tracy tournaments tombstone, because I thought it fit her life at in Arcadia Ego, even Arcadia. There am I in other words there so many mysteries. And so many interesting things about her that she of course had Much like what's buried in that crypt that the shepherds of Arcadia are dancing around. And just below the engraving on this painting of the Arcadian Shepherds. There's this random sequence of letters. Oh You! Oh s the AV and then between the letters there there, there's there's D and M.. So. There's no explanation for what these all letters mean. They're just there right and so the script. Right there underneath the ET in.

"It. Yes that tracks now. He's still filled in happy working with Suzanne Center with a bunch of beings just like the ones he had tried to steal years ago data but he wants to stay there and keep working on his dream for for some reason. He sends human passing creations. Dodge and so JI author robot planet to do what? Here's where we started getting murky. I think because I don't know I don't know what he meant by getting to the bottom of the ban like an it seems like sending a double agent who's completely brainwashed was of limited utility to like that did more harm than good but they kind of hand waved away with that with data saying something along the lines of data. Dr Soon saying something along. The lines of Bruce van made him paranoid. All this weird spy shit Anyway says but but he. Lynn leaves the planet for some reason. Which you why did leave the probe? He had utopia here. Maybe he needed some kind of funding. But I don't know why only go as well because he was worried because the Romulus came and nuked his lab. Yes but his wasn't on that planted or something because the Romulus couldn't scan from orbit to see this dense pack of synthetic life's that have to human lives in it too so he's lab must have been totally separate from the place. We visited this episode right. Yeah so you said it was like a spaceport right or like some kind of old like she she. I don't think this is the place to Androids a living on the planet. It's a place. Okay yeah and I was born. It doesn't make sense Bruce lab halfway across the world or in the North Pole or whatever or that she would have been born in someplace other than his lab. Yeah because soon his lab is right there right here in heart of the complex. Yeah so anyway Why did Bruce? Plant a clue to finding a planet and so Jews dreams but also plan inability inability for surgery to get the clue. That's a good question. Because if she's if she needs to find out her plan her where her planets from then this seems like once she figures out like why does ought voucher. Doing what they're doing they could just activate her. She would have full control over memories and her capabilities and she could just get back to them. Like why the elaborate coating in a dream. I think you're supposed to understand that. That is her subconscious positron brain dealing with the Cognitive dissonance of living. A life. That she knows is unreal. Like this is her brain rejecting the false narratives. She's been fed. No no that's the thing like Naric in the season has been pushing her to the edge of activating because he needs those memories to unlock. So I don't I don't think that's a flaw in her programming. It's just a an exploit that Eric is running on her. Essentially right right so. Why was the clue to find the planet just that it had to read moons electrical storms? And then we get there. None of these had none of these things. The electrical storms are weird and like read moons. And all that like. I think we didn't see the red women's as they pull up to the planet I guess. Yeah maybe the electrical storms are. What's going to really do? Do a number on the Romulo and fleet. Maybe there's lightning shoots up in orbit is going to say lightning would just hit the loss of rain and the it had the power would come back on. It'd be fine charge it. Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah Everything Board nights injected in the Lahser in a lightning gonNA strike. It's GonNa Frankenstein back together or lightning. Hits the Board Cuban? Suddenly they can defeat all two hundred eighteen. Romulo and more birds. You know. We didn't talk about so many things even though this is a super long. Podcast like What did you think reassess Siren Tattoo? He's really gone all in on the Mermaid didn't notice it Shoulder Tattoo of a mermaid. Oh Man Once I see this guy in good lighting I got the the the Mermaid Tattoo. And he's got actually really bad bangs that don't they just stick oke rarely see dudes bad bangs but this is just like His his whole head looked like a Catholic. I my mind is blanking. I can't pull up reassert man. Good looking guy but the bangs in good light. I don't know I don't know how I feel about 'em I mean. Obviously I feel bad but Let's see where I can figure. I gotTa pick up my point in discrete here So to Romulus take that one clue that doesn't match the planet at all. Since what looks like every ship the Romans own on this mission? Destroy THE SINS. Where either earlier told the voucher super-secret organization that even the rhyming spy agency towel? She are considered to be a fairytale but they somehow can order up the entire Romulo Fleet on a moment's notice and have it led by starfleet ahead of security. Yeah yeah and the Romans are still refugees from destroyed. A home rolled right. Yeah this latest stuff doesn't make sense. I looked it up when When you were talking about one the scenes wolf three five nine which was a very large unprecedent gauge moment was forty star ships. Boy Okay so eighteen is. Now here's the thing is like this might track in Star Trek Lore that like Wolf. Three five nine was a turning point in the federation where they started like leaning into more nakedly military things they started to do. Dvd defied helping. Yeah Blade of armor. Quantum torpedoes ramping up their military. Then the Dominion War came and all that stuff just went into overdrive so I guess I could believe that like after this Cold War and then you had his actual war and bore explosion that maybe not two hundred and twenty as kind of a wolf three five nine fleet but yeah. How does the super like did? The ROMULUS empire does get taken over by the declare martial law. What does that even mean when you've lost your home world And get to die ASPERA and like these squatting desert planets like I. I don't I don't know I don't I don't think that's show runners do either. Well let's say this is a part of a two part episode and some of this might be explained like it could literally be that she's working with starfleet and that starfleet has dispatched this fleet of Romulus chips. Because who would have Romulus ships at this point right? Yeah like the Rhino in society is all but nonexistent. They certainly wouldn't think have an entire fleet of star ships to send out a mission like this right right starkly would. Yeah but they're all warbirds and it seems like even the Borg Censor show that they're all Warburg's warbirds to I don't know it's one of those things where like this is very star wars. Where you've got the Galactic Empire or the Galactic Republic has been in like twenty years redick conquered by an old offshoot faction of the empire and are now on their heels down the one ship. But like how did this happen? They don't really explain I'm going to give him an episode because it is a two parter but I imagine none of this is explained. There's a lot riding on this two part and it really is. So let's wrap this up says. Meanwhile here is no what this planet is. Because record choice daughter knows an old captain you recognize the description of red moons and the electrical storms again. Even that's not what the planet looks like. What is your. You had a theory that This captain was Acu- That kind of dovetails into my theory that like since Q. And Meet Q. We're going to show up and like rumble. It's GONNA be Jetson Sharks West Side Story. Alpha quadrant story share. How do you think and went accused when you start? You start. Snapping Shit should happen shit world's end Q. Snapping Shit's happened. You feel better or worse about the key theory. I think it would be amazing. There's no way it's going to happen but it would be fantastic and I would love to see it. So they opened up a transport conduit that suddenly knows how to find that to leap ahead of the entire RIMINGTON fleet. I will say it's even though I was prepared for it. It's super jarring to have soju just know everything now. Like just onsite like all but I guess he's an android and it's like locked away through some kind of android science so they immediately get into battle. Eric followed them but it doesn't matter because he's down taken prisoner and has to wait for a sister anyway so you might. Well just come with her. They get to robot city where they learned that. Even though we had to say commander. Oh was half Vulcan. So she can mind meld. Apparently androids can do it now. To card need to ship back so the android give him magic button which uses imagination to fix things cool. That's cool just uses imagination after mind. Melding the androids get the message from God beings that they will totally show up and kick the ass of anyone threatening you. Also they want to kick ass the wipe away all organic life in the quadrant. You've been having trouble with now. This entirely peaceful nicely the planet where they've just been kicking soccer balls and having quiet time for years or immediately on board will destroy all life. Yeah I mean that's that's literally the plot you know. What about all the planets in races in the Federation that haven't dabbled in artificial life are they also wiped out like what I mean? It is star. Trek is held to have this binary thing dogs. That's how about elephants like yeah living together. It's impossible no are they gonNA wipe out like every organic being hell. Yeah why would you wait for once organics so organic life? If you properly appreciate it we are the Sabo around the round that is artificial intelligence. Once we have delivered that payload. We're just redundant we're just hus- sure we can be sloughed off. I'm just wondering. Where's the line of responsibility here? Well I accidentally when I said like the IR liked the avengers and they're here to kick unlike that would actually be cool like if these they weren't there to exterminate all organic life. It's just like we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA beat the Fed this this federation and Romulo in plot and they were going to like. Don't make us come back like you. Better LEAVE OUR AI. Brothers and sisters alone or we'll come back with the the hurting. It sounds like bringing fighting. Yeah why do they have to be like instead of the avengers? Why why does it have to be like from a human perspective immoral? No no shades of gray here but anyway. That's the that's the feedback we had for this week. We'll be back next week. For the the thrilling conclusion of it echo at in Arcadia Ego It'd be Super Classic Trek if we had to wait nine months for this right right split over two seasons. Yeah Yeah Yeah. The classic part one part two. Maybe it's a part three hole. I'd I'd use blew my mind. I didn't even know you could do apart three. I didn't think that was legal. Has it I think it might be an unprecedented in stark track glow. Why didn't they ever do a three parter? We're probably speaking at our ASS. Voyager probably did eight three partners. I'm talking about just like threw. Okay I I couldn't even swear that there wasn't like a five episode arc through almost all the seasons in the last deep space. I remember to light. The last three seasons being essentially serialized knew there was individual them fucking around deep space nine and finding whirls and they still had other star Trek Adventures right. Yeah but it was mostly like once he got to the dominion or it was pretty serialized. Yeah that's how I remembered it but I haven't seen it in many many years and I know you watch a couple of years ago but that's our show for Picard. We'll be back next week for the ultimate the final the the season one finale of Star Trek Picard. Please send your feedback your feedback sending your feedbacks to fee Max Dot Com. Please send your feedback the card above new DOT COM. We'll be back next week until then around Jeff..

"I'm Jim and we watched season. One episode nine titled Et Inner. Katya Eagle Part One Aron give any idea what his title means. Yeah it looked. So there's a famous painting with this title that is Depicting like some shepherds and and a lady in a very utopian pastoral scene and it means Y even in Arcadia. There is death and arcane their Arcadia is like a old timey classical word for like a utopia or paradise kind of the areas outside of the healthcare. That is the city. Yeah Yeah like. Even in apparently paradise situation you still have death and there was very You know they're on the nose for this episode Where we uncover an apparent cybernetic utopia that US biologicals are going to go in there and fuck up. Yeah and you've got a bio person. Who is I? Think actively dying or or approaching the end of his life people like the car and the doctor. Soon junior boaters Mike. They're having some kind of problem. We get Robo Picard. Maybe there's some discussion on the forums about car dying and putting him in an underwear models body next season. I'll see I thought they would just just put him in a year right. That would be a way to have the car all my God. It'd be terrible. It'd be so bad You'd have to do the world's greatest casting and it would have to be stuart saying armed just too old for this shit. I Love Star Trek and wanted to help them. I'm going into Bela Lugosi. I was trying for Patrick Stewart. I ended up not naturally. I went Transylvanian. I was trying to go. Patrick Stewart. Transylvania you could. You could put them in a Justin Bieber. He was an underwear model at one point. Wasn't he I dunno or Josh Holloway? It makes it makes sense though. He's an old man and you know. Do you want to build a franchise around them but on the other hand They've got this. This is kind of ghoulish. Can we admit that this ghoulish the entire idea that you give a fictional a fictional character a indefinite but but terminal prognosis just so in case he dies in the middle of the C. E? Can just you can just roll it. In plot terms but it's is pretty ghoulish. It is But you know. At in Arcadia Ego Arcadia Ego is anymore ghoulish to talk about recasting them into a robot body. No certainly not know if anything. I think. It's your both plot elements to do walk around a real life man's death you know right right. I don't know not sure what their plan is for this. If that was part of the consideration for the whole plot of this thing and is you know Airmont Syndrome or not Don't know But are what so. What did you actually think this episode? We haven't actually got to that part. So it's weird because this like this has never been the show has never been more T. and g. than this episode like going down to the planet of extraordinarily fit people wearing silk robes. Like that's so t and G and so. When I saw it I was like. Oh Yeah Hell. Yeah and there's some really cool ideas and concepts like is sort of like the idea that this was not necessarily a warning for us but sort of an offer of help to panic. Synthetics Right Very cool so but I mean there's also a lot of dumb shit. Oh Yeah what are you GonNa do that? I had the same thought when they go down and his plan. Everyone's dressed in these crazy. Like your Star Trek. Always been a little horny. Maybe Law Horny. And this felt very much like one of those early season episodes where he imagine of them. Oh my gosh. Like halfway. Through the episode Sutra. It'd be stroking his chest hair and be like I've never met inorganic organic like you. You're just so distinct individual and Reich wiggling his eyebrows. And then she would. I can't I can't kill these biologics because rikers Dick is that good So it did feel like that too but also had the classic T. and G. two-parter like pulling out all the stops. Yeah we got space battle and Holy Shit aboard Cuban. Oh my God. Space Orchids are gonNA fuck and DRAG HIM DOWN TO PLANET FOR CRASH LANDING. You know and the seven of nine is going to turn this thing into some kind of probably self evident. Planetary Defense System That's going to wipe out two hundred eighteen Rommel in warbirds next episode. That's pretty exciting. You know best of both worlds kind of class Steaks and action and drama. But yeah also a lot of stupid shit I I was wondering how many do you remember? How many ships where it will three five nine to fight that board eastern fifty nine wolves let alone ships now you can get aboard cube take on two hundred something romulu words. Maybe I mean it's it's three of them. Struggled to take on Janeway ship at times. So that's true you know. But that was voyager. That's the thing if Jane Way Crash so janeway comes out of retirement. Crash lands the Voyager. Right in the middle of seven and nine cube on beatable rip. Open a transcript. Conduit take the whole fucking planet to Arcadia What do you think about getting into this episode? Let's do it all right. We start with lots of rain. Emerging from the transport conduit completely unscathed but narrative has followed them through and lots of rain is in trouble until the board cube comes to the rescue and some giant flower. Some big old orchids envelope Serena and the board Cuban dragged down to the planet and the car goes into a trance. And thanks everyone for coming. What was that about man? I thought they were going to explain it in the plot but they just didn't like mine. It's the part one so I'm hoping part two will because I thought it was like the Ale the synthetics making first contact like somehow taking over his because they played it like they played like Classic Picard being overtaken by something but then also I think the plot wants us to believe that this was related to whatever brain kookiness. He's he's he's experiencing whatever Brat I'm GONNA call this a brain cloud because they're trying really hard not to say Remigia Syndrome. I'm going to call brain cloud from Tom Hanks's classic Joe Volcano Okay. He's he's afflicted with a brain cloud It's bad it's some kind of disease it serious. It's probably going to kill him. But who knows what the symptoms the symptoms might be talks like he's possessed by an alien spirit There's a third option to which is that. He's somehow connecting to the board consciousness. That seven has re instituted on the Board Cube. Oh that is a good possibility so like yeah there are three options out there and I kind of like that sort of left a lot of pathways for this to go down because they called it there. But there's this the thing is i. I thought the first fifteen minutes of the show was really a all over the place because I did not get the sensation from watching the crew that they were being drugged to a crash. Landing right like everyone was like super chill about the space Flower enveloping them and dragging them into violent reentry everything on fire. Everything on flames Serena crash lands and looks like it's really fucked up. It's Golic hull damage and shit sparking Like at no time undergoing this You know like when when in generations the enterprise classic One seven zero one D was crash. Landing on Fucking Malcolm McDowell. World Data said grab the console and said Oh shit because it was a fucking event they were going through. These people. Were just like well. I guess we follow Puddles Grenobyl. Yeah it was weird. I mean the the power was totally out. I like were we able to see if there was a window out the front or is that just a view screen looked like there were actual physical windows on this the ship because you could see the darkness and then you could also like the flame starting to EEK through the through the the flower shields gadget. I can remember but they also established the ship was going to crash land on this planet and like Oh my God maybe no one even survives but they all survive right with no explanation. No I it was. It was Kinda weird but I will say it was pretty awesome to see the board Q. Key hitting the atmosphere and I I was at a war with like this is so fucking cool fucking and dumb. And I don't under- I wonder if they did got all the actor scenes before they actually decide what was going on with the ship. Just did it in post. Yeah like we're going to like We're not sure if they're going to be being down. We're not sure if they're this that so just kinda everyone have a neutral affect and we'll fix it with the flowers because they just didn't act like they were in any danger and it seemed like they were crazy danger so that's what I'm saying like same thing with Picard. When he has this out of body experience don't think it was very clear about what happened and they never actually clarified if whereas either. I mean that's true of this show in general like look at how Giradi x one minute. She's like talking about hell coming to earth and the next minute cheese giggling about how cute the ANDROID is you know like. This shit is inconsistent across the board. So I wouldn't surprise me if they were dislike. I resolved that myself that she is literally gone crazy from the mind meld and I guess you could say carjack. Bizarre Bizarre Picard connect bizarre. Because he's got the brain cloud everyone else like like like Reassess ship he should be acting concerned for his own fucking life and the fact that his ship is getting fucked up. You know dry one. Losing her mind throughout all this and you know when she's the rational voice. I get worried. Yeah it's it's crazy 'cause I mean. Can you imagine like astronauts on re entry not having parachutes for the capsules or anything lashed out the parachute hundreds of miles an hour or the parachutes Daffodil? There's rapidly losing its structural integrity. Right also like why. We're getting all the silly stuff out really that transfer tunnel opens right above planetary orbit. Apparently some fucking convenient transport conduit right there. Share is the Borg Man. They've got they've got roads everywhere hard. They're the they got the they put the Roman Empire to shame except earth except yeah because then they would just come in and kill us all. I can't keep on sending the construction crew. Keep on blowing up the cubes and sending them back in time and it's really rude. It's true okay. We get some flashbacks to cards doctor and his vineyard and card except Sick Bay. And there's no power on the ship. Giradi is examined him with an old try quarter and found out that he has brain problems. The brain cloud no power. I don't know if you're aware this means no emergency holograms. Oh Yeah. We're we're rid of the five Yup. The the the dirty five hundred zero to call them are gone. No power the emergency file did. This ship has like manual. Blache shutters though that can provide. I don't know why you would engineer ship like that is is I. I never assume that Rio ship was capable of atmospheric flight. So I'm pretty small. Though I'm trying to think of what circumstances that would under normal operation come in handy to be able to flood obey with light but I dunno or to keep the light out Maybe especially in Sick Bay. Maybe you've got some Photosensitive disease or something. You just shut out the light. I think the ship should have armor played all over it like you know so it can cause this. This ship also seems then. How does how did get his hands on the ship this is? He's a civilian pilot. He's got shipped has got fucking phasers and stuff. That's pretty wild. I don't know maybe they'll go more into his back after you know his captain. I'm Han Solo. He's got a Millennium Falcon. That's his old freighter. That's got like way souped up engines and I wanted an established game brier space locale ricin. Oh he wanted to game three D chess That must yes three D. Chess Chess. Forty chat actually. Yeah he's people. He wanted old school a three d chess with his old quarter. He did on Yahoo Games. Yahoo Games okay. So afterward picard tells US career that is brain doesn't work right and he's dying that's last speak of it..

Ancient Bugs and the Key to Storing Wind and Solar
"How does this system work yet great question well to start we walked through what looks like a pretty regular office building down some stairs back through some hallways and they took us to this control room so right now we're in the control room that's a nice quiet space we're heading is we're gonNA head out and look at the electrolysers system why do you have to do to set it up we operate the electrolysers system by control doing the power to it so making sure it has power sufficient water flow and then also making sure it is sufficient quality to go into fuel cell cars and then we walked out of the control room into this kind of big cavernous almost like a garage and they're sitting in a class box was step one which is the electrolysers and the size of a stove and has these different pipes coming out of it and next to it this shaking jiggling container of water so we're standing in front of the electrolysers and you can see translucence white tank that is filled with water and that's what we start with we start with the ionized water there is a pump whirling in the background moving through the heart of the system the electrolysers stack the other thing you'll notice is all of the wires going in here at Enron we have a strategic initiative called electrons to molecules the cables you're looking at there's forty eight of them these cables are actually mirrored the other side forty eight cables bringing electricity in very high current three thousand ams thirty five hundred amps of DC power coming in and that half inch stainless steel line so in your mind picture all forty eight wires pluses for eight minuses and then a half inch stainless st line carrying the hydrogen out that is the idea behind electrons to molecules sort of increasing the energy density of a wind and solar farm can adding that to a molecule right now we're doing hydrogen and this is step one of the process then we followed that which is being pumped through another pipeline outside into like a two or three story elevator shaft it's quite small actually and a lot of vowels and instrumentation and wiring and data and the great thing about it is it's actually even though it looks complicated is actually very simple an inside what is the bio reactor that's kind of what the structure is our is water and corrupts these little Arcadia and the cool thing about Arcadia it ferments hydrogen and Co two in the same way that you would almost speed like fermenting a food product like beer and then it produces this methane at does that naturally and so with a little bit of testing and ration- This company called Electro Caja patented and trademarked the Arcadia and has put it on loaner leased to enroll to experiment with and learn about how it can be used for bio gas what does it take to make a bug happy Oh it's actually very simple you just give them co two and hydrogen and some a source of sulfur a source of nitrogen and and are off they go they're very rugged they've been around for a billion years so they know what they're doing we're just trying to do the simple things to make them happen the What exactly are they trying to do here they got it bill are they looking for anything in particular the technology is only as good as it can be scaled or lead to the next thing and so I think they're really trying to understand it's applications and whether it's something that can be used on on a wider scale it is a research intended by reactor a steppingstone to large scale deployment with company he's like socal gas and other utilities that are feeling pressure for consumers or pressure from investors to start decarbonising the literal gas grid much like we've decarbonised slowly using wind and solar for example decarbonising Trinity Grid but yeah they they wanted l. okay if we can do it at this scale and we can do it really well what would it take to do it at a higher scale so it can have other applications let me see if I got this straight the reason why Ron and Kevin and so many others are working on this is because we're facing two pretty big challenges one we've got a lot of wind and solar hitting grids in many cases during windy or sunny periods there's a ton of extra energy being generated which is usually wasted and company he's like socal gas meanwhile are saying how can we clean up the natural gas were sending to homes and businesses so you've got two things happening at once so he here at Enron they're trying to solve that problem and they're taking that excess renewable electricity they're using to make hydrogen then finding Indus- sources of co two and feeding it all two billion year-old microbes then turned it into methane and then Voila Ron's company has renewable gas that can be fed into an existing pipeline yes and they seem confident this is going to happen I mean it is happening and beard ask Ron how he kind of looks up in the sky with dreamy eyes and he'd say absolutely and then you ask Kevin The science guy and he he agrees the idea here is to start with gases which can dissolve into water quickly and that's straightforward you're not breaking down components and then building them back up which some technologies do this is starts with houses so it is a fast reaction the organisms are self replicating and their naturally occurring so if things were to spill for example if we were to have a problem we've essentially spilled some seawater on the ground and we would make sure it's safe and that's what's Nice about this simplicity its vessel it's operating it'll pressures behind you there are hydrogen storage tanks pressurized to thirteen thousand PSI were operating at two hundred fifty it's easier to operate at lower pressures and it's manageable even you know from the side of the dreamer and the side of the scientists they they both believe in this and they have high hopes for for seeing scaled potentially across the country one day
Brad Cox Interview
"British idiom is you heard the call ridden by hobby or Castellano trained by Brad Cox who has been so good for so many years he is now trained one thousand two hundred eight winners in his career and that total includes those three victories that he had yesterday to Keelan one at Belmont Park but none none more special than that grade one Darlie Abe's win and Brad is with me now here on H. R. R. N. Brad Good Morning Congratulations. Thank you good good morning. How you guys doing things are good my friend. Dr You still kind of on a high after that big win. Absolutely they had several breezes this morning at your show just kind of wrapping things up yeah. That's that's a win. You definitely you know saver for a while. They're foreign feud between the great ones yeah. What's that light for a trainer when you show up to work. The next day is kind of like a victory lap around the race track where everybody's coming up and shaking your hand and congratulating you you know it's it's it's good. I mean you know it's it makes it easier to get up in the morning. I can tell you that when you you know just having good horses to look at watch them work watching breeze. He's checking the next day. F You know post race stuff like that so you know it's good horses which is get up every day and do this force. The you know have horses than move forward young horses Oaks Derby British Cup type horses what you're looking for so it definitely makes getting up a little easier. I promise you that yeah and you've been around so many good ones but certainly British. Idiom is looking being the part at this point in her career and let's remind people. This was only her second career start. She's now a perfect two for two after breaking her maiden at Saratoga back in the middle of August. It look back on that race from yesterday she she won very impressively very easily. Share your thoughts on the performance. I I mean it it. was you know to think he was going to go over and perform like that no way. I mean you know she. She just she just blew just spectacular performance and you know watching watching the race I mean broke with higher did a great job of keeping up in the race not necessarily on the League exactly what you like to see setting off a couple of horses a relatively you you know reasonable pace the backside. I think he was laying fourth and I looked at my sister and I said she's in a perfect spot. I mean she's got no excuse from here and then when she brings it up to the leaders eaters to three eighths. Kinda started looking at some of the horses behind us like I think she's got these in front of her when she's come up to fairly I think you can go buy these and then obviously I was kinda looking for perfect perfect alibi and szucs Philly and I saw so perfect alibi was kind of interesting you know if she responds when heavier ask this things over and she did and you know the only thing I told you can't tell the guy I don't give them any instructions at all jocks but the only thing I told him I said it's a short wire so don't don't you know short stretch. Yeah I wire so just when you turn for home ever position and he did just that she responded well. It was very very impressive race. Did you know this philly could be this good in this caliber when you first laid eyes on her no really well not when I first laid eyes on that yeah you have to go through several steps. You know obviously months and months of preparation to really get a line on we had this. Philly keeneland England then we moved into this summer and she was really stepping for stepping up and you know acting like she was a good horse we breeze brought her to Churchill with the intent of running her at Saratoga and Yep. We just left our church. I I can't remember exactly how it was about just her last work before she ran at Saratoga. was from the gate at Churchill she'll and thought you know this phillies going to be awfully tough at Saratoga auction race. We'd like to a lot so and you know come to find find out. It was like that morning. There was a buzz I was actually at Churchill today. She broke her maiden Air Togo but there was a little buzz kept hearing like you know they're stranded like horses turning like Susan. I like four or five of them in there and you know she. I think lots of times like you know I thought she would have been down a little more and she wasn't. I just think it was a you know a lot of people like horses in the race and the silly it was second obviously came back and broke her maiden. Belmont which was a positive You know just a couple of weeks ago so I uh I think it was even though it was restricted maiden race it was decent strong maiden races well so she received a big figure out of it to that. That was the one thing that Japan Academy Rag Number. You know a couple of days later and I thought you know she moves forward off that you know she's a she's a serious horse. She obviously did it. Just took us a while to get her back to the races we point for the Pocahontas and she the week before she breezed in the breeze was just okay and We've put a blood on her blood worker blitz count. Where's off a little bit so we just decided to skip the Pocahontas in point for talking with trainer Brag Cox Looking back on yesterday's big win in the grade. One DARLIE also vitek was British idiom. She is now punched her ticket to the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies which will be held at Santa Anita in Arcadia California about well one month from today. Hey we'll be breeders cup Saturday Brad. What do you do now over the next four weeks to make sure that she stays in peak form and she's ready to fire her best shot in the Breeders Cup. Well just you know as of right. Now you know I believe we have a plane scheduled to go out on Tuesday before so that's the twenty ninth we'll just go out then with whatever we have that's earn whatever earn their way to the Breeders Cup and you know just who works. I think you know nothing fancy. I mean you know she got a lot out of yesterday's yesterday's race being the second career start and you know just hoping she comes out of in good shape so far so good she scoped great. Last night looked good last night. Put her to bed and she looked at this morning. So you know Oh everything's positive with her will to this point and you know like I said we'll bring her back to Churchill worker twice and then off to California to before as long as everything goes well when you get an opportunity unity to maybe add a couple more grade wants to your resume later today you have Juliette Fox Trot going in the grade one first lady here at Keeneland and then you'll send out in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park. You'll send out arc low in there so let's start with Juliet Fox Trot. Tell me a little bit about her really Nice Philly. I mean it took a really tough being California. Last time we got was beaten by. I think the two thousand eighteen races and the silica so I mean I think right if the wires the only time she was in front on of us we got back in front of her past the wiring dot great really nice really think the world ever very very classy filly to deal with in just just real real nice philly that train them and just very straightforward. Does everything alleged WanNa see a horse do of the mornings and obviously the afternoons as well since she's been here in North America America and just amazing philly not real big. I mean she she's. She's a beautiful really beautiful. I- owner beautiful head up but it's not a big big philly typical. I think you know think cut back to a mile. I think is a I think she can do anything between a mile. Maybe even a mile and a quarter anything in there but I always like a horse that you know in a mile in eighth last time cutting back to the mile today. I think a positive that she drew well in the race. looks like on paper. There's speed I'm hoping she can kind of break settle kind of shut off a little bit going into the first turning up the backside and she does that she'll be. She'll be very very competitive today. I think a lot of this feeling. I think she she some you know. Hopefully can you know get some great one placing. Maybe hopefully a great one win and I think you know. I think the plan right now to raise their next year and I really think she's got had a big feature. You know it's interesting you talk about the mile and an eighth cutting back to a mile later on this afternoon and how much you like that move. I've heard other people talk about horses making that can't move to why can that be so successful. I guess it's just a fitness thing I mean I know. We've had the feeling training all year but it's a lot angles and racing that you know you. Can you know I. I sometimes like you know You don't even if a horse runs well on the dirt going to turf. It's almost like you trick them a little bit. You know it's it's and you know I. It just felt like you can have a little more confidence with your shortening horse up as opposed to stretching now now 'cause you know the further you go. I guess the unknown but you know she performed well at a model at Qinglin this spring so we know she can do it. She didn't really shut off and rate that well that day wish you would have you know relax a little more but it was a first start off a long layoff for a long time. I asked her to run a little bit earlier and she was just kind of on the go like I said from off burning fresh off the layoff but she she's moved forward and she responds to what the routers warrant They had three different jobs under this year. You know they've all got along with her. Well so I think for on obviously knows Schroeder twice before been able to get her. They're both times so hopefully like I said if she can get take a trip and relax a little bit early. She'll be tough yeah. You've had her for four starts now. In North America her first one as you alluded to is keen last April after she campaign in in her native Great Britain when you get a horse like that Brad that comes in from overseas.

Philip Green fashion empire crumbles
"The high street fashion. Empire of Philip green is on the rocks. The UK retail I king has secured creditor support for three overhaul that's involve rent reductions store, closures, and to having of the company's pension deficit reduction payments, but will this be enough to save the business? Mafia Vinson discusses this question with Jonathan Ford and Jonathan Ely. Tell us a bit about Philip green and his fashion empire. How many stores all there in which are the best known brands? So the empire was put together from two big acquisitions that have Sears in one thousand nine hundred nine and nuts of Arcadia in two thousand and two Arcadia is, of course, the one that gives its name still to surf Phillips fashion empire four fifths of the revenues a made in the UK and Ireland from about five hundred sixty stores and they're all so concessions in department stores like Dem's and in some branches of Tesco now by far the best known of the Browns is top shop which counts for more than half of the sales, but there are also a series of smaller brands Burton, Wallis Dorothy Perkins, miss Selfridge Evans, being the main ones if my memory of back issues of vogue serves me talk shop was until. Recently regarded as something of a success, celebrities plumber into be associated with it gained to catwalk shows, and green was the person who is credited with getting it. But high profile on that level of success knighted for it. How is this managed to go wrong? So there are many causes a knife fits early into two buckets, if you like one is the sort of external factors over which Philip had relatively little control. And the other is the things that he did have influence and control over now outside his control was quite, simply the competition, much better. So back in two thousand and five when he was knighted, boo. A fashion retailer sells online and we'll turn over over a billion pounds this year did not even exist. And there's a whole series of those types of businesses have emerged who misguided, they sauce, people like that prime has really up to his game, h and. Am has opened hundreds of stores in the UK Zara has expanded quite aggressively in the UK. And also consumes have become much more kind to dispose to ordering clothing online something that seems a long time ago now but if you go back to the early noughties people were saying, oh, people will never order clothing, on my because they'll want to try it on. Well, they do try on. They try on at home and send back the bits they don't want, and then the things that he has done wrong. I think he basically took a lot of money out of Arcadia in the early noughties then famously paid his wife for one point two billion pound dividend didn't really invest enough act into the businesses that week online websites in their whole logistics, regarded as behind competitors and along with many other retailers from the sort of pre incidents era, they're finding now that they've simply got too many shops. So now so Philip finds himself as you say, with shops needing to close some of them leading to. Have the rent reduced on the others. Under the so-called company, voluntary arrangement. Can you just explain exactly what a VA is? And why he needed Sarah CVA is a peculiarly British form of insolvency that basically gives the company a window of opportunity to reach an agreement with its creditors to reduce its payments, and his overheads, and therefore is obligated, and actually any credits can be compromised under a CVA. But when it comes to retailers, it's almost invariably the landlords. That's are they face cuts to rents of between twenty five and fifty percents on about one hundred ninety four out of the five hundred also stores. They are the very significant aspects of this sceviour is that there is an agreement with a pension regulator Arkadiusz pension fund is about five hundred million pounds in deficit and the company had been making annual payments. To try and close that gap miss reached an agreement with the regulators, where it will reduce the payments, and so Philip, and his family will make good the difference, and that agreement with the pension regulates. The has very important political and legal ramifications should anything wrong with Arcadia further down the line, they still have to close certain outlets which talks about top shop, earlier, which other stores are going to be affected, or the CVA all of them all the chain. So twenty three stores will shots within the next year and that seems like quite low number out of five hundred sixty six but the reality, according to people in the commercial property world is the final number will be many more than not possibly into three figures that's because lots of stores are coming off lease anyway, and because over the three appeared of the CVA, there are lots of opportunities sort of written into the terms for either the landlords author Arcadia to end Elise early enclose a store. And that has raised questions really over the future of some of the other brands, we know already, the Evans miss Selfridge are going to move to a more wholesale type business model. So most of their stores will close one wonders how long things like Dorothy Perkins Wallis and Burson might lust because there's one marketing expert said to me last week if these stores didn't exist, would you go out of your way to invent them to have turn this round, if east Browns are not long for this world, even if he's able to have a little bit more success with top shop is there really a turnaround strategy Novus, while it's fair to say that many people think there isn't that what there is is too, vague into threadbare. So we know that he's basically plan to invest hundred thirty five million pounds over three years, roughly split half and half into improving the stores and improving the website and the online. Logistics the problem with that smaller a to really hundred thirty five million over three years
