Minnesota Mayor Wants Unarmed Civilians, Not Police, to Enforce Traffic Laws

"Police reform in a very different way. He wants unarmed civilians and not the police to enforce traffic laws. Proposed change comes a month after a white police officer killed a black man named Dante right during a traffic stop Matt Sepik of Minnesota public radio reports on April 11th officer Kim Potter pulled over Dante Ride in Brooklyn Center, a diverse community of 30,000 bordering Minneapolis. Police say it was because of expired plates writes. Mother says it was a dangling air freshener. As Potter and another officer tried to arrest the 20 year old on an outstanding firearms warrant. He broke free and got back in his car. On body camera video. Potter is heard shouting Taser, but instead she grabs her nine millimeter gun. The gun shot is edited out of this clip. Potter, who was a police officer for 26 years, resigned and is charged with manslaughter. That killing led to a week of demonstrations, including violent clashes with law enforcement. Security fencing still surrounds Brooklyn Center police headquarters. Today. Things are quiet as a crew of workers, repairs of looted dollar store across the street. Neighboring scoreboard Pizza, which was untouched, owner Jim Johnson says right should still be alive. They should've let that young man just go mean expired Tabs and is that worth pulling over someone when you already know that there were weapons violation? Johnson, lifelong Brooklyn Center resident says police could have made the arrest later. He's skeptical of Mayor Mike Elliot's proposal. The mayor wants a quote unarmed civilian traffic enforcement department to handle all minor, non moving violations, such as expired plates and broken tail lights. Elliot is pushing Council members to approve his plan soon. We need to do it as if There was an emergency and people were at the PD protesting again. We need to have that level of urgency. I think the first thing i did was. Walk around to find a walk-in stay said an outdoor patio and find a spot. I wasn't really like i wasn't too optimistic. I wasn't booking tables because a lot of people were doing that ahead of the announcement that was meant to be made last month. How To Deliver A Course When You Havent Delivered A Course Before

"There's a ton of continental though and how to put on a course. But i mean just delivered one. I'm with at all still fresh in my mind. I'd like to show what i know now that i didn't know a few months ago if you want to create course but the prospect of it feels slowly overwhelming. Let me break it down into manageable sections the idea build up and the actual event to his comes to when it relates to the idea. You have to know your overall audience. Whatever your topic you have to be clear on the change you believe your students can achieve by studying it. There has to be a clear outcome for them. That they'll miss out that don't attend. Then you have to build the course around what you stand for you make it far easier for people to sign up for your course when what your delivering a line to what you stand for. The flag already. Put an the sun and a known for deviating off into a completely different space. Make selling your calls that much harder to find a way to make it relevant timely as listen in course content in the space people already know you for find a way of tough it into the coach. Zeitgeist to make your topic more timely. For instance you. The media month of learning centered on helping people find momentum in the content marketing and kane as it did offer year of not backs frustration and pain. Now here's what's relevant to the buildup to build an audience before you even think of delivering. This is the most important point if you invest time and effort into the structure kontinen delivery. But you don't have a subscriber base. This is an audience that already received and engages with emails from you. You're facing an uphill struggle to get people to commit. If you have an old him you've built up nurtured and can reach out to it. Becomes far easier for them to say yes. With the youth april you the media month of learning the audience number sixty eight paying attendees and they paid either two hundred or two hundred fifty pounds.

Today i want to start off by revisiting china april sales so of course we talked about this yesterday. Some of the confusion out there. I went into a lot of detail on that so that people could understand where the various different viewpoints were coming from and why there was so much confusion and uncertainty yesterday today. I think we've got much more certainty so we'll get through this quicker today. I i did want to note a correction. So the confusion was about. Whether april sales numbers included or excluded exports one of the main factors for me leaning toward a being exclusive of exports and therefore a higher total number was the export number for sack passenger vehicles being higher than the wholesale sales numbers but unfortunately comments or pointed out to me that that was based on a mistranslation so the wholesale sales figure for sack passenger vehicles was actually thirteen thousand and four rather than one thousand three hundred and four so unfortunately that didn't give us any more information about how tesla sales compared to experts so apologies for that whenever i do find errors like that. I tweet them. Out at tesla. Podcasts good reason follow on twitter. Enter notifications on there. I try to limit my tweet so that the notifications are actually useful. Not spamming you. And then i also make sure to pinna comment on that video as well as providing up next video which i'm doing now anyway as i said yesterday related to those april sales figures. We should be getting more information over the coming days. And we've now started to see from a couple of different sources insurance data on individual models. Come out for april so we can see here. "Okay so there's a lot. There i bury. Neal was a good friend of kevin's they live together for a while before berry was arrested and indicted on charges of child pornography. The to since the falling out. We'll talk more about burying a later. Episode quiches story is essentially the berry and kevin panicked because they realized they had left something a phone back on rock crusher road in quiches telling the race to the car drive off and return about twenty twenty five minutes later with a phone kisha believes kevin returned to the home with april's phone in his pocket and refuses kisha any explanation as to why he has it. When we spoke to andy jones about the phone he said it was never recovered. It wasn't at the scene to his knowledge and he hasn't seen it since at this point. According to kisha she knew april was dead suspicious. She send a friend request on facebook to april. There was accepted the obvious conclusion to that would be that. After april died someone else was in possession of the phone and using her social media. Some were kisha told us is really hard to confirm other parts of her story or simply impossible to believe kisha told us she already knew. April was dead from her facebook feed. But if you believe quiches timeline she would have known. April is dead before andy jones found her body. The question worth asking is how she would known that. It's my belief quiches telling us half truths. It's pretty obvious to me. At least why quiches being selective with what she knows in her narrative she has a minimal role at best. And what happened that evening but we said selective with the truth which means a kiesha is telling the truth about things. We believe that night. A lot of that was confirmed. We talked to sergeant. David mcmahon an investigator in the oconee county sheriff's office in the weeks following faiths disappearance mcmahon interviewed volunteered information about april magma. Henry i to kisha as dixie sin her alias on facebook during that time period we had a couple of overdose deaths. Heroin may Math and stuff like that and we knew there was some bad dope going around and we were trying to Get the word out to some of the drug addicts. Look don't mess with this dope right now. That's going around is an april jones. One of them april jones. Yes we always knew norton down right. Yep mm-hmm yep. She died on a believe january twenty eight and she live just a couple of miles. Yeah on raw crunchy i. We actually went to the house and went inside where her body was. We saw that and Yeah that was that was born a girls and she was. She was in that in that little. You know I will say that she was equal was was the girl that she cry her basket out of the out of that lifestyle and then she would slide back right so that was kind of her situation. There and we were told that that kevin was with her the day that she died as well at some point that that was through an interview that i had that yes. That's true. Did you interview Dixie sin at all about her observations than i april norton Apparently overdosed I did and At kayak dixie. Sam when i interviewed her. She said she knew that there was a girl outside. He wasn't sure it was able. She thought it was full and Kevin miller and another guy had been not necessarily whipper but just associated with outside and they all disappeared at one time and then Boston caterpillar to come back later in the night. Yes so i guess. She told she told us a version of that story where Kevin and berry. Neil come back to her house and then go back to where april was where she overdosed or where she was found looking apparently for a phone and then they come back with a phone She didn't tell me to come back with a phone but they look for phone but of that later that april had and that it belonged to give. Yeah because he believed that kevin gained access to april's facebook page. Because after april overdosed there were still some social media activity. She observed on april's page. Okay i wasn't aware of that. So mcmahon confirms label jones. Mom her husband. Andy and kisha told us. Kevin was with april. The day she died. Mac mayhem believes kevin went back to rock crusher road to get his phone not april's phone regardless of who's phone. It's clear there was some sort of rush back to the area where april was later found dead and if this is true it means at least kevin maybe berry neil. Maybe tom smith knew that april was dead before andy jones found her body to our knowledge. None of them ever contacted the police with this information. It also suggest they compromised the integrity of a crime.

"That's kevin's girlfriend. At the time he should smith telling me her recollection of what happened the weekend. April jones died the house. She's referring to at the end. Is that white house on the corner of coffee in corey road where faith roach was last seen in front of before. She went missing on february fifth. Twenty nineteen as. We've said several times in this podcast series. That white house was a center of drug activity in while khawla specifically meth. We talked to jason mclamb. Who lived in the white house. At the time. Mclamb told us. He only saw april jones once in did not see her. The night of her death having talked to other people with knowledge of the situation. We don't believe that statement and we don't think it's the first time mclamb was dishonest with us. Our final conversation mclamb and his wife was a contentious one and he said if we used his name in this podcast he would take legal action against us. You'll hear more about jason mclamb future episode april first arrest was in two thousand ten for public disorderly conduct over the next six years. She was arrested several times for shoplifting. Drug use petty larceny. She had several family court bench warrants. An example of an april arrest was on july third twenty fifteen. She was arrested for larceny and burglary. We spoken to several drug users in oconee county specifically wall khawla who have told us about the culture of what they call pilfering drug users in desperate need for cash or something. The trade will resort to stealing to satisfy that addiction. It can be scrap metal. It can be comic books. Jewelry guns or anything of value in the pierce april was no different. Andy says it was not always this way with april april. I don't understand it till she wasn't on drugs when we may somehow there's a couple live behind. Her mother earned girl. Got me big friends. And it's thank you. They're all on drugs. I all meth is a huge part of the story. It really is and meth at its. Core is why jones is dead. It's the reason we believe she was with tom. Smith and kevin miller the weekend that she died april's mom. Debbie believes. kevin miller may know the truth about her daughter's death. I can tell you that he was one of the last thing was that probably some her alive and that was due to a drug deal that went down in the white house. Right here in this dirt right. We saw john guy on now. That's what i was told. Always tell that she was taken to the house out here to buy drugs from him. Events that led up to it. All i know is that she was at a neighbor's home over next to her house. The neighbors supposedly the one that brought her up here to the end of the road. Drug deal Then i was told. Kevin miller went by to the neighbor's house to confront eiffel. Something about a done. All had gotten this in or something got missing from him. Look we can verify exactly what happened that night we do know. This guns are a big part of kevin miller's life. He possesses guns. He told us he will continue the possess cons even though as illegal for him as a convicted violent in his social media pages are litter before the grass of him holding guns so dispute surrounding a gun would be no surprise in our conversation with kisha. She gave us more detail about his behavior that night here in buried give back in the caller and he wanted to my house. I don't know where this type a phone pocket who was fouled and his like the word in simply talking about. Don't worry about it okay. i'll with this. I think.

"And support group sessions starting this spring of twenty twenty one while gumbo rising to your astrological outlook for the month of april twenty twenty one this month is a pretty straightforward but bizarre fun terrifying all the mixed bag of emotions kind of a month but nothing like we've been seeing. It's a little bit more equitable this month. But there's a very clear picture about what wants to happen this month and how to work with and that is that in the middle of the month around april twelfth. We're going to have this new moon in aries which is kick-starting us off into this. Very very radically. New energy is part of the new energy the spring equinox. But it's also part of the new energy for the next twelve months in terms of the initiation of the sun and the moon right and so what we're gonna see just after that initiation. Fourteenth of april is venus is going to leave your eighth. Excuse me ninth house of aries. Move into your ten thousand torres. And then on april nineteenth we will see the sun and mercury. Leave your ninth house. Aries into your ten thousand tourists. Now why this is so important. Is that because you are a fixed rising sign. You have thick signs in your angular houses. This is something. I'm going to be talking about in the rising sign. Education support groups. That are starting here in april fact. We're starting first looking at fixed rising signs altogether and mutable together cardinal altogether and so it's really important that you understand the significance of having fixed signs in your houses. Needless to say all of this energy shifting into torres really about safety and security now for you this is gonna show up in the in the realm of work in career so this is really this radical desire for your work in career to change to be different to change the structure of it that that can give you more safety more security right so when it comes to work. It's about the people we work with. Do we feel safe and secure around the people. We work with Is the money were making enough. Are we feeling secure financially. Are we feeling secure. Emotionally mentally spiritually etcetera. Is the work you're doing in this world allowing you to expand and grow and at the same time become more and more secure inside of yourself right. This is a big big piece of your strategy for the month of april of twenty twenty one now. This is part of a theme. Because you're honest has been in your ten thousand years and will be there for years to come. And so this is a bigger a bigger thing for you in general and expansion on your career in generals expansion on How you show up in the world and that is going to bring into question safety and security for lots of reasons. Right so expanding growing sometimes expansion contraction..

"Spring of twenty twenty one gemini rising welcome to your astrological outlook for april of twenty twenty one. This month we have some clear indications of what wants to change And the energy of this month it's nothing massive in terms of you know Anything we maybe went through last year but it is big in terms of a focused energy coming into the sign of taurus which will highlight the square of your honest and saturn. But yet they're still seems to be an energy in the month of april which is encouraging growth. Dance movement connection Things that actually. We haven't had the opportunity to do so. It's an interesting dynamic month in this way and so for your chart. There's going to be a huge initiation in your world around the topic of community. A part of this will be the fact that we're gonna have this really powerful new moon around april twelfth depending on where you are This new moon in aries happens in your eleven house of community. You know the first part of this month we have so much in aries chiron and mercury and series son heiress venus that new in aries. There's a lot of new initiation happening in your world when it comes to community when it comes to new connection to community and then bright as as soon as we get comfortable with a feeling energized being around people and connecting with more people and connecting with more community. There's this kind of step backwards where now we have. Venus is going to shift into torres on the fourteenth of april and so we'll mercury in the sun on the nineteenth of april and what that indicates is that these planets that are shifting most significantly this month do so into your twelfth house. Now this twelve house can be this. How house of isolation this house of Feeling alone or feeling Removed from others. So we might look at the twelve houses like inst- institutions and hospitals and things of that nature. But it's also just spending time alone you know it's any opportunity where we can be alone however recognizing that that's not always comfortable. This month is going to bring some challenges around what is safety. Are you safe on your own. That's probably the better way to say it. Are you ready to reevaluate being in the world and a new and different way is it time to be in the world in a new and different way with venus you're on sun and mercury conjunction in your twelve house tourists this month. There could be a sense of Psychological disturbance you know or sense of feeling ungrounded feeling confused not really knowing which way is left and which way is right and this is all leading you to the energy. That's going to be coming in the spring as these planets. Move into the sign of gemini. I and we move into the clip season of gemini sagittarius in your first and your seventh which is an angular house clip season. And so we know that you're going through a massive identity. Change this year in general. You know who you are where you've been where you've lived where you've worked who've connected to your friends your your family. All of that is up for for change this year. And so what's being asked of you. This year is this month rather of april's to go back inside of yourself and find true security you know through your connection to your god whatever that might be in the twelfth house you know your spiritual connection you. That's what this twelve house can turn into so sometimes it feels like isolation but it's also inviting us to connect with the gods and that's the opportunity so when things start to feel maybe less safe at the end of the month with this strong dance of your honest and sun mercury and buenos. This is really saying. How can you feel safe in this process you know..

"Have a couple of statements that i don't wanna take up too much time. I mean the general much. Okay the general vibe. When i looked at april was pundits moving from hot signs to cold signs so throughout the month. We've got planets leaving will in gemin- areas and then switching to tourists and cancel cooling off which can translate into a sort of a slowing down with some sort of settling or even going from auburn extroversion to an introversion general tone and one other piece that i was curious. I was l- what's unique about this month. Both the lou nations will be ruled by mas this month except that mas will change signs between the lou nations. So we get the new moon rule by mas gemini and then the full moon in scorpio which will be ruled by moslem cancer. We're going to talk about all of those in detail but just as the theme some things that caught my eye. That's a really great points. Theft that new moon in aries on the eleventh of full moon in the scorpio on the twenty six. What they have in common mas for everyone's favorite friends right that makes sense Is that the same sense. That you're getting your overview this month austin in terms of that shift initially of all the planets inner planets like moving through the fire sign of aries and then that shift into torres. Yes very much so the And the the end of the month not only has Sort of a trio of ingress is as we get Was at sun sun. Mercury and venus not necessarily in that order moving into torres. Then we we have all three of those planets activating a urinalysis and the to a certain degree. Reactivating the earnest saturn square so. I'm certainly looking at that as sort of an interesting moment And there is the kelly's point about the temperature of the planet is I'm seeing now. Is totally true. His wave not only a not only are the sun. Venus and mars moving from hot areas to a cooler torres will also have mars moving into a water sign around the same timeframe. so yeah. That's it's really interesting yeah An recommend everybody really pay attention to what holstein house. Those grasses are shifting into relative to your life in order to personalize it and understand what that's gonna mean for you. I like both of you. Mentioning or kelly mentioning that activation of the planet's going through taurus activating the saturn nearness square. And then something. "I need to talk series. We're talking to keep people in the industry. So if you want to know how to take your book from the Shelf to the big screen will now will bring in someone from the industry who can explain to you how to get that done what they're looking for and how to make your work stand out. So it's really just educating authors on being a boss of their book and scaling it is just ability, right? That's and I don't think people think about I mean even myself here listening like we don't think about everything that goes into not judging the writing of the book. Yeah, but after like the marketing all the things that you know, you should you should be doing with your book which is why you need to make sure that you have a great publisher Ur a great Publishing Company, you know, that is behind you to help you things yeah. Yeah. Definitely you're going to need the support of people around you as well because it gets lonely. You know, everything doesn't work when you that you're attempting to do and so sometimes you can get a little discouraged a little hard on yourself. And so you're going to need the support of people around you while you're on this journey, but but there's no that you can do it. There are a lot of people who are living a life that they designed just from their book or books, right so it can definitely happen. It's just like you say, you have to give tap into the right people. You may have the right mindset. You have to know what direction you want to go in and what you, you know plan on doing, you know, even after your book. Yes, you know, just so you're off your next steps are because your book will always be there like you say, you know, are you going to let it die out right you're going to you know, take the necessary steps to make sure that the long as you age. Have your book, you know just keeps going and going I know there's some books have been written like years and years ago, you know that people are still reading and that's because just based off of off by shoe game. They're still being marketed. They're still being you know talked about they're still on certain platforms and things like that. Yes, exactly. I think that's so awesome. So tell me what's next for your company. We really want to continue on the path that we're on again since covid-19 hit a lot of like you said a lot of people have to Pivot in business. And so we don't want to rush anything we want to make sure we're really thorough and covering all of the aspects that authors need so we'll continue to grow books or the new rich off throughout the next eighteen months. We will be opening up to suggestions to what are followers really want to to know in terms of scaling. They're booked beyond the retail job. So we'll be adding more influencers and keep people from different companies and brands that can help them. Learn how to get into film or get onto net Netflix streaming bath bombs and things of that nature. So the two focuses for our brand within the next 18 months growing books or the new rich and it's help helping as many authors as we possibly can. I think that issue. So so awesome. I feel like I think just it's just a blessing for anyone who's listening that is, you know, aspiring to be an author or if you're already an author and you feel like your book is not getting what it needs. You you need to reach out April and see what you know, she can possibly do to help you so you can get on the right path with your books cuz again people are sitting at home and I know I've read more books since we hope than happy that I probably have ever ran and I'm a Raider. Yeah. Yep. Avid Reader, so I I get print books. I do audio books Kindle, you know all of those things. And so I know for me sometimes when I just need to escape it all cuz you wake up and you're like it is a freaking Global pandemic going on right now that is affecting, you know, so many people and social injustice going on. Like I need to get away in a way I can get away is escape into a really good book. Yeah. Yeah travel right now so exactly. Yep. So I'm just like I was reading a book the other day and they were talking about they went on this trip and I just felt like I was there it was that well written I just felt like I was there so you're right, like if if at a time like this, it gives us an escape like we can go anywhere in the world. We want to buy reading someone else's story. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So I really enjoy talking with you April tell the listeners how they can get connected to you. Definitely. I know that there's some people out there who are you know wanting to write books or have written books and wrong want to know how to get their books out there? And I think you have the wealth of knowledge. I'll make sure that all your information is in the show notes so that they can, you know, definitely reach out to you so that like they can get that best-seller out there cuz I do believe we got some best-selling authors, you know listening right now, but there's don't know how to develop that idea. "April Ryan has been covering the White House as journalists since Nineteen Ninety seven over twenty years. But only this year has she gotten death threats. Now when trump has framed the media as a national problem telling folks, the media is the enemy of the people inspiring real violence against newsrooms. April Ryan is one of the journalists trump has singled out. And now she travels with security because she's afraid for her life. April serious journalists who has gotten awards for her work. The National Association of Black Journalists named her the journalist of the year in two thousand seventeen. She's the DC bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks She's CNN analyst. It's insane. That she's getting death threats. It's insane that she has to fear for her life because she's in media. Trump's attacks on media had real effects on real people like April, people of integrity and dignity and deep seriousness who are all about finding the truth. April Ryan is an American treasure. A woman who's been in the White House Press Corps for over twenty years asking the questions that Black America needs asking. And now after being attacked by trump and Sarah Sanders and over Rosa. April has written a wild book about her experiences covering trump called under fire. This is an epic conversation with an important American who's afraid for her life for no good reason..
