Start there and then you work your way up. That's how the Democrats have done it years. All right, Cody. Thank you. Wise words. Steve. You're on the Ray Appleton program. How do you do? Very high right now. You know, I think I think he is possible to barely get shot by a nose and remember what scares me and I'm pretty sure scares everyone else here in California. If you went to shut the state down again. Just for payback. He's gonna do it just out of spite. Hey, I'm in power. Now. I'm gonna shut it down and this is what I can do it. He's going to do that. I just have a gut feeling. Sitting down again. What? Everything nonstop. And and be the Gavin knew that he was A little over a year ago in March, when he started clamping down on California, and I think he'll do that just because He knows he can do that. "Here now. The way Appleton Show on news talk. 5 80 now, 159 K. M. J. Just hearing me Talk about craw, Daddies says what's missing from my life that place that place after the hell that I've been through in the last couple of days, which I will explain. In just a couple of seconds here, But, you know, maybe if I can struggle, it's aging body out of my wheelchair. I might have to make it a crime that he's tonight or Yeah, tomorrow night with my wheezing and all of that, But we'll explain. Let me say this before I say anything about My absence. What the president did yesterday was wrong. Calling this a pandemic of the unvaccinated list entirely inappropriate. This president is making the unvaccinated come off like an island full of lepers. And they're going to infect you all, just simply because they're not following. What now is a political political ideology. You know, all of a sudden getting vaccinated become a political ideology. Have you noticed? Um, you know, we heard this morning from some of steam, esteemed medical types who still report to the media. This is a medical problem, not a political problem. It's a medical problem based upon some numbers, and why don't those numbers, by the way, include a mandate for everybody in the White House to be vaccinated in this order? Mm. I mean, it's that level of hypocrisy that hypocrisy, hypocrisy That makes me a little bit crazy. And a lot of you joining up on that crazy train the way the president talks down to doctors is just wrong. Something else that drives me nuts and to just sit there and blame conservatives and Republicans for being the band of all the problems on the vaccines. Are you kidding me? I mean, it's obvious the public has deep politicize this because both Republicans in both Democrats and a massive load of independents, who by the way, are going to do away with the governor, Gavin Newsom next week. Then come together on this that they either like vaccines are they don't and vaccines have been around for a long time, and a lot of institutions have always has said you. You've got to have this vaccine and that vaccine and those medical records have been, you know, available since the dawn of time, and it's obvious to anybody that has a nose on their face. This is just wrong. Now, the president has told chose to make this a political process getting vaccinated or not getting vaccinated, not and not a medical process, and that has done the greatest disservice he could possibly do. To the population of the United States. Sounds like somebody's opening up a Budweiser in the background. You know, uh And these people who happened to be you know, the population of the United States are also voters. So how soon we forget, Joe Biden continues to make these bone headed statements that are untrue. And even with the media I thought was starting to pull together and get this right. I've taken on another step backwards with what he had to say yesterday, allowing most companies a soft out. Excuse me. On whether you know to produce a negative test or not, on a weekly basis or be vaccinated permanently, blah, blah, blah. You know, there are some companies like mine we have about 6000 employees. I believe And you work here or you don't because this company and the mind is saying they don't want to be a monitor of negative tests. And that's just the way it is. And so it begins with a number of companies are going to be doing this all over the country today are more likely Monday and the president How he handled that yesterday by not willing to take any questions from the media walking off like a dumb ass zombie after he'd given the order without answering anything was horrible. And this whole mantra about the how the vaccinated are supposed to be angry at the unvaccinated. We're all Americans, and we don't act this way normally. But we do have a new president who dies by politicizing everything is out there and everything he did in one day. Uh, which ran from the the the attack of the You Know what Tomorrow is the big 20. The 20th anniversary of that that shock that explosion those hits that shocked the world. So here we are in the 20th anniversary of 9 11 and the Taliban are in charge of their very own country. Think about that a little bit. And you know, we have a White House press secretary who yesterday was in earlier this morning, and it was yesterday called these terrorists professional and business like After the professional and business like Taliban beat the life out of a handful of reporters yesterday who were trying to point out to the world what the Taliban was doing to stand in the way of reporting about women and their protests that they had They almost killed a lot of people and told them all to be thankful they weren't beheaded. That's professional and business like So the president is trying to move the ball and it's not going to work. It's not going to work with this guy, or, you know, I think a lot of you like me. And let's look at the six countries who have made mandates alright and see who's in there, you know. Oh, there's Russia. Oh, there's China. Oh, there's Saudi Arabia. Oh, there's the United States of America. Does that little group sound? Right or wrong. I mean, no. Um So here we are, uh, you know, trying to focus on who were supposed to hate by this mandate from the president. Now, thanks to Clint Olivier for pulling my butt out of the fire again. Many of you always let me know when he's on. It's It's not the same. Well, it's because he's a different guy. He's not Ray Appleton. In other words, I'm a grown man who drinks too many soldiers. And I always say I'm going to limit my intake of soda, and I never know. And once again from about the third time in my adult life, I nailed myself to an ugly Christ. I mean, I got the shakes. I look like I have some new disease and I was tested for and I do not and thank you, Lord, because I'm shaking like a leaf. And you can hear that. My voice is a little shaky. My memory is horrible. I couldn't remember the name of my catch the other day. I used to have nine Now that I have, you know, like two or three. It's that's unforgivable. So I figured something was wrong. And I went to see my doc and yea and Clint help me out for a couple of days and so After you know, drinking copious amounts. A PD A like, I don't know if I like that stuff or not, But I seem to have settled on orange flavor and taking some things that the doctor gave me. I think I'm doing a lot better. So to help me out a little bit today, just in case I start getting the big case of the shakes and somebody who's always shaky when it comes into the KPMG studios. Fresno County Health Officials Seeing an Increase of Covid Cases
"With new covid cases growing across the country, Fresno County health officials say they're noticing a surge in cases and younger populations, according to the data shared by the Health Department. Younger age groups are driving this surge. Now, If we look back to January of this year, when Covid 19 cases were surging people 65 older made up a big chunk of those early cases. Nearly 25%. Now they make up less than 15%. But 18 and younger category has done the opposite. They were at about 15% back in January. Now they make up nearly 20%. This is concerning because the under 18 population is not all eligible to be vaccinated. And so their only protection is the people around them. They're saying it's a issue of, you know, religious integration, you know, making fun of somebody's religion, saying something horrible about it again, the statement Republicans Like the Jews during the Holocaust. Being a Republican. Now he's like being a Jew during the Holocaust. That apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back. The other statements tweeted earlier. Allegedly ever fired. Heavily campaign for him and you know, really got involved with more. I guess you would say the activists inside the organization. You know what I would call the progressive? Um, bond. I found out really that there is a lot of evil aspects. You know that I was Even realize that even in my education system going back as early as elementary school I was when I would consider indoctrinated to be highly critical of even. You know, my own family members. All of your remember early on people making fun of you know Republicans for their Christian values because they believe in a fake sky God You know, then it became well. Now it's everything because they eat meat and kill animals and they farm and they use a ball over water. I mean, they keep demonizing people so much and you don't see that from Republicans. Other than you know, obviously, they don't like Democrats when they're rioting and looting. Or if they're forming gangs in your neighborhood or typical things that nobody likes. But typically there Republicans have always been the type that are living. Let be as long as you're respecting the values of our country, you know, and our moral obligations but exactly how I feel. Go ahead. Yeah, It's not for me, I guess watching his progress being amongst those people. I was part of like the early groups of the cock block. You know what I was filming, please, and thinking that I was doing some, You know, civic duty, making sure they're falling. The constitutional rights of traffic stops and And then I started seeing the same people in my community as a cop lot becoming very violent since, like, you know, saying stuff like all cops should die or now it's green light on all of them like Okay, So how are you going to justify your violence against all police officers, But yet you freak out when the violence against violence against a few people in the community that's completely hypocritical. And so you know, they wouldn't be calling for the death of police officers, Children, but for me, I just quickly scene. It's a very emotional driven, I guess party, you know, it's purely It's almost like the soap opera party. They're They're just ripping off anything that gives them I'm kind of raw emotion because they just can't find that in their daily lives, So they latch onto this drama everything to the president. See the You know, they talked about how you know I just watching how they freaked out about. You know the insurrection. They called it all this stuff. And to watch her like you. We've talked about that. You know Maxine Waters and my mind's one. Initiate all this. They know we need to get in their faces and, you know, tell them they're not welcome here, and it's like You watch that was just It's kind of laughable in a sense it they kind of brought us to the situation of incivility. Every single generation that I you know every everything I watched progress. It's been them bring us to this point where we supposedly, we're gonna have this Big street battle and Going teeth is out there all black and their their armor. And they're, you know, creating their own nations of Chazz. But yet, you know, we won't call those insurgents. We call them activists. I mean, they're no different than Isis doing, you know. You know what they do in Afghanistan, the sway elections. They go around terrorizing communities until they get, you know, get their way, And that's that's what we're seeing is, is that Desperately the prevalence of mob justice everyone in the southern mob justice and assist I see it, so I I guess long so sure. I totally agree. Republicans, unfortunately, have become You know this symbol of just the worst thing, And they just don't even have a clue of how many people were. How are you dealing with this? I'm slow first, another last show like he said. Everybody has their own experiences and whatever you're doing what seems like the worst Exactly. I'm sure that little kids have their whole a different set of problems like concentration and watching them. And I mean all that. But I have to high schoolers on And it's been. It's heartbreaking watching what they've gone through. Time to cry. It's okay. They went. They went from straight. A students involved in multiple extracurricular activities won two competitions. They were just thriving, you know about to get driver's license. Gosh, they thought they'd gone to the sea. The sea season F And therapies. One suicide attempt by God. E mean, the only bright spot in all of it is, um my my husband retired recently and we've been planning for years to move out of state on them, which is supposed to happen in the next six months or so. And I'm The kids, of course, were railing against that because they have their lives here, and they were just upset about moving. But now they're like That's fine. That's moved at schools are open, where we're moving to make sure that we don't have any lives there. We don't have any friends. We don't have many lives. So let's move. At least we can go to school there. Test Now I am going to thing. I really, uh I appreciate you calling in. Tell how how are the kids now? I mean, it's obviously they're soldiering through. But do you do you see Improvement? Do you see, um, flickers of of positive energy. Honestly, just because they're focusing on leaving. That's it. They're making plans of looking at the school. They're going to be going tol on what their class schedule is gonna be. And So they're perking up Just because of that names. I'm so grateful, you know, because they were just I can't even explain what kind of Ah bad place they were not God you know, and the other side of it. I mean, I get I get that the Uh, Virus is real and you know, but they say, Well, you can't really measure all the other things. Well, you can measure some of them. I mean, you can grade you can measure suicide attempts you can measure They're not counting any of that, though it is quantifiable. Yeah. So well, a appreciate it. Thank you so much. Thank you, Tiffany. I really appreciate you calling and call again any time. Uh, you know, I that saying, they say, be careful what you wish for. "Love to have you join us for that ride, and it's a privilege again to set in here for Ray. I'll be here today and Schedule be here tomorrow. Also, let's go The phone lines now with this new change of leadership that we've got. We have a new president, President Joe Biden now in office. He's there at Arlington Cemetery. They're getting ready to lay the wreath. They're so what do you think? What's the difference is going to be the changes that you see immediately? Let's go The phone lines now we've got need a on the line. Hello, Nita. Hi. Yes, I would like to ask you a question. After I tell you how I feel about this. I think fighting wanted the military there. It reminds me of a Communist takeover. And my question is why can't trump to Pelosi and all those for all the slander? And all the name calling and lies that they truly know we've got. Let me see my entryway. We got a bad connection. I don't know where that's coming from, but but I appreciate your call. So, uh, military being there? Yeah, it did. It reminded me of that. It did look a little third world dish when you've got all of the military. That's what you see. In third World countries that concern me. I think it was just a show of force. I I think that what the Democrat Democrats were trying to do at that point is to say we're in control now, and we'll show you how to show that we're in control. You're not going to come up here and disrupt our party. We're not gonna let you into our party and you're not gonna do anything to disrupt that. If they were able to do that, if that were to be the case, if there were to be an event of violence or some pound to disrupt the inauguration, then they would look and say, You know, we're really not in control, so I think that's what the Uh, stepping over the boundaries where I think that's why you saw such a disproportionate Measure of show of force that was there. I think that's what they were trying to do, and I don't think they needed to do it as far suing. Those are public figures, and so it's very difficult to sue a public figure, especially a politician when it comes to what you can say about them. Okay, let's go back to the phone lines. Now we've got Steve. Steve, You're up next. Here on the Ray Appleton program. Thank you for your call, Steve. Hello, sir. Um, just wanted to say that during this transition period They What I saw was, you know no fans. No, no public. No people there to support Bill Biden and his his, uh, his deal, but also all I saw was elite..

Every sector among African American among Hispanic among those that traditionally had not been Yes, it was under the Trump administration, and it was continuing to grow. Again until covert came along. So Susan, these are the things that we forget about. We get all caught up in Twitter's We all get caught up in what the left is doing. I think we need to posit a wait a minute. Remember out these past four years of what President Donald Trump did accomplish for our nation and moved us forward. Thank you, Susan for the call. Let's go to Dr David. You're up next here on the Ray Appleton program. Well, you know, Um ah, the things that President Trump did, uh, for the pro life movement, Um, when Obama was in there, he, um, he funded Planned parenthood and he killed more babies and God, just When it when it rains. That's God's crying. But when President Trump went in there, he, um uh he kicked out their bucket, and he said, You are not going to kill any more babies under my administration, and, uh, they're a Louisiana and Alabama Have you say you're not going to kill babies in our state either, And so I think that's one point that, um all these 70 million Christians are really praying for President Trump. At the Holy Ghost protects him and his family and also Mike tends to do what we want that protection without today, Doc David, thank you for the call. You're right. This President, President Trump was the most pro life president. He believed in the sanctity of life. He is one that didn't just talk the talk. But he and acted measures to bring it about and he enacted policy that would protect the unborn. He defunded Planned Parenthood, one of the greatest providers, the largest providers of abortion in our country that was using federal money to do that, And he said Nope. You're not going to do that anymore because it is against the law. He's the one that showed up at a pro life rally there in Washington, the march for life. And didn't send the video. He himself came the first president to speak at that at that rally, so, yes, he was very pro life. That's if I get one, Maurin. Well, no, I don't like to cut people off. So I'll tell you what. I'm gonna take this break just a little bit early. Then we'll come back Manual and John are standing by. We're talking in this hour about the greatest accomplishments.

"The Ray Appleton program, Luke would have done the hour himself, but he's too busy cutting deals with the Amish. Yeah. Wherever it happens. It happens here now. The ray Appleton Show on News Talk 5 80 now, 1059 K. M. J. Well, we've made it. We have made it to Friday and almost almost have made it to the weekend and I'm looking up here. Of course I Frequently reference the great big monitors that we have monitors TV screens that we have on the walls here inside the hallowed KM J studios. And there really isn't a lot of earth shattering stuff that is being reported by our friends at cable news today. It seems like they're kind of on. Ah. Repeat. Little bit of a holding pattern until the big inaugural, which takes place next week. And so I think maybe perhaps We're going to be able to get to the weekend without some great big piece of news. Remember, the East Coast is three hours ahead of us. So there it's 11 12 1 to 2 o'clock on the East Coast. They're almost done with their work day. So I'm hoping fingers crossed that we can get through the next three hours of the Ray Appleton show without some Earth shattering news. You know, I think I read somewhere. It's said that. What did it say it was so it was. So why's this? This observation? Maybe it was from my dear friend Twitter that said that in some decades There. There are big weeks and in some weeks well in some decades. You can live weeks. But now you know what? I can't figure it out. I'm like George Bush now, George W with the fool me once. Don't fool me again anyway, there is a lot going on you monitoring the global situation. Okay, But there is a lot going on here locally, and I wanted to talk a lot today about the cove. It 19 vaccine and how folks are all over the valley want this vaccine are lining up to get it. Some of the people we just heard in news a couple minutes ago. Some of the people who have waited in line they say, you know what? That's fine. It was handled great. Waited in line, and I'm just I'm just happy I got it. Remember when this thing came out? What about a month ago? Um they said a lot of folks at all. I don't know if I'm gonna get it. Well, they want to get it now. Uh, Anyway, it's Clint Olivia in for Ray Appleton. I'm gonna be with you your host through the next three hours of this program and hopefully be able to drill down into some of this stuff and figure out what's going on and find some truth. The first thing I want to do is we have skip Etcheverry. A. Of course you know her as the co host of the afternoon drive with Skip Philip and Skip. Which can be heard here on Cam Jay, from 2 to 6 every afternoon Monday through Friday, and Skip is calling in. She's on the line right now in line at the fair grounds for her, her covert 19 shot. Are you there? Skip? Well, Yeah, I am. I'm actually checking in live right now. I'm the next in line behind the curtain. So this is gonna be a crapshoot on whether I could stay live when they call me back. But Like when we talk about this on the air on the therapist, and so I fall under the health care part and it's impacted my practice specifically because I can't see people in person right now. And so when the flag came around to be able to get a vaccine, I signed up And President County has rolled out with this this week. Really? At the Fresno Fair grounds, and I've heard, you know, some folks have had to wait. There is a past your patients, maybe a chair, maybe some water. But today I mean my appointments at 11. It's 11 09, and I'm next in line, so they are they are rolling. Screw it, And so let me now it's health care workers and the 75 over in Fresno County. Now there was an email that went out with linked to this. On our Twitter and everything. If you are 75 older, you could get this vaccine if you have to pre register so needing the be paranoid, but dedicated daughter that I am I went ahead and signed my dad. My dad's coming on Monday and I'm doing later on if you will, as we get it if I get my first shot, I know there's been a lot of concern over. Is it safer? Whatever. I have talked to you so many doctors and nurses, ICU nurses, people I work with in my private practice. That are like, sign me up. Give me the shot. So I'm taking a page from their playbook and I'm all about it. Skip, Tell us what it looks like out there. You said. It's moving fast. Just paint paint a picture of what you see while you're standing in line. Every last bit. Don't think thing. Okay, I'll just keep an eye out for them to weighs me down. Sorry. This really nice lady is telling Meteo my next plan, So they're cleaning it up there. They're getting the next flight ready? It was about this about 10 or 15 people, different distributions. Thoughts where you actually sit down and get your shot. They've got a great line. The parking is all marked, right. What's your name? Mary, I'm scared. I'm from K. M. J. And I'm getting this like live on here. It's not okay with you and this on my phone. Okay, cool. But my okay she's gonna You can absolutely ask me those personal questions now plan. I don't know if you can hear, Marry or not. Because I have my headphones in. We can hear Mary, This is interesting. Keep going, Skip. I know right? Okay, so there's my card. They gave me a card. Um, I go by, uh, This one right here? Yes, That's my little my have a blended last name, Sam. Very complicated, Clint. So my first name is Francis. Yes. Yes, Thank, you Know vaccines last 14 days. They're dis up, making their minute speeches. They're recording them and they're going to use them in their campaigns that Z what they're doing. I'll be honest, nobody's minds being changed. There's no debate. They're not sitting there going on. Let me see If somebody's gonna tell me something I don't know. I'm really not for sure Know what's happening on the floor is just political posturing and basically on both sides, That's that's what's happening. Let's go The phone lines now. 490 58 58, Kevin Europe. Yeah. How are you? I'm doing great today. You know what, man? You do a great job, And I really appreciate what you Diogo. Thank you. And I pray for you and your church. But anyway, the thing is, is that I was just in D. C a couple of years ago. You're right. It's one of the prettiest places. It was so emotional to see What has happened in our histories past our forefathers. I mean, I was literally emotional. And you see all this going on, just really rips me up and tears me up, and I really think it's gonna get ugly before it gets better, and all I just can't say is God bless America. That's all I had to say. I think the best thing we could do, Kevin right now is as our founding fathers told us to do We need God's help. We need to pray you. Amen, Brother. Thanks, Kevin. I appreciate the call the Benjamin Franklin when we were forming this country. And they couldn't decide how the form it and what I mean by that is the Constitution how they're going to be governing states rights and all that goes with that. And they were arguing back and forth to the point. They were really to quit. And some states that we're just gonna go home with the state A state we don't need to form this union. And Benjamin Franklin got up and I'm paraphrasing And I've done that. Quite Quite a lot. Quoted this Benjamin Franklin said. Listen when we were fighting against England. We ask for God's help, because we knew we needed it. And now that we have won that battle because God helped us we're trying to form discovered. Don't we think that we need his help? Folks, I'll tell you right now. I think we need God's help more than ever in keeping This country. In keeping this country. Benjamin Franklin also said when he walked out of that, and lady on the steps there said, Well, what type of government we have. They didn't know. They know. Are we gonna have a king or we're gonna have a president is gonna be something else because this was something totally new that was being created in this experiment of democracy. Benjamin Franklin said. You have a republic. If you can keep it. And I think we're probably at that point. Now, folks, I'm not. I'm not saying that the end of the United States of America, but right now the fabric is being stretched, and it's being strained. And we're gonna have to decide if we're going to go back to the principles. This country was founded Bone We can disagree We can have we can have very passionate debate. Nothing wrong with that. You're right. I'm wrong. I'm right. You're wrong. We could do that. That's that's what we do in this country. That's that's the democracy that we have this democratic form of government but the end of the day. Then we have to put it down. It's all right. Then. Then here's what's best for all of us. What's happening in our nation's capital is not best for all of us in the long run. Let me see if I get a couple more calls in Mark Europe. Mark, are you there? When we have more time, Mark. All right, let's go to Chris. Let's go to Chris. Marc was ready for us. Let's go to Chris. Chris? Yes, I'm here. There you go. What do you think? I just want to say, I just want to say I don't hardly ever call in. But I am just so upset about what the Democrats are doing and what's going on in our nation. It is not only ungodly, it's unconstitutional. I believe that if the Democrats get away with this, I'll never be able to trust Death democracy again because it's not democracy what they're doing. They're throwing a fit. They want their way. They don't want anything from Trump. They don't want to accept the fact that he's been in charge of what we have already got. What we're already doing. It's wrong. It's wrong. What they're trying to do by disallowing everything this president has done so, Chris, let me I I can sense your passion and I'm up against Clark here. But let me just say I understand where you're coming from, as far as just the frustrated and there's so many that have that here's what I do not want you to do. I don't want you to throw in the towel. Because if we give up if we just say, all right, and that's it, we're not going to participate anymore, and that's what I mean by giving up that I've hurt people that said, I'm not voting again. I'm not getting involved in more if we do that. Then basically, they win because they're not. They're going to continue. And that's why in this form of government we have thank God. We have this form of government because if it was another country if it was truly a takeover of a of a party that was in power than they would keep us from being able to do anything, we're not to that point. I think they're trying I think that's what they are doing, but they're not to that point trying to do something and doing something is two completely different things. And that's why I believe those who love this country will stand for this country, not political parties, not political figures, but will stand for the principles of this country was founded upon It's time for us now to engage to engage in the process to engage in the system to engage with those candidates that we believe are going to stand for those values. And try to bring about change. That way. We can do that. We've done it in the past and we can do it again. But, Chris, I understand your passion and I appreciate your call without a doubt. All right, folks, That's our number one. The impeachment is still going on. I'm I'm watching it out of one eye and.

"Well, you know, I just started listening right? Well, today I was turn the radio on. But Yeah, I've known believe it or not great for the past 45 years or so we could believe that. I didn't know He was that old. Uh, I'll think that I think that as an insult that real quickly, Larry, I'm running. I'm running out of time. I'm sorry, Habit, but I want to say the power fear converting into a church. What you take on that? Well, I'm gonna We're gonna talk about that tomorrow, man. In fact, I'm gonna have that pastor with me on the program, and so I'd really don't open that can of worms. But we will talk about that tomorrow and I'll give you the other side of the story. So it's a good teaser for that, Larry. I appreciate the call. All right. Hopefully we've answered some of your questions. I'll be glad to talk about it more. But there's a so much more that has been happening this week. Been happening literally today. I mean, with now, impeachment Can you believe this? We're now talking about impeaching the president. They're calling for that one more time and then with what has happened with social media with parlor Of them pulling that down and well, well, they didn't pull it down. No, they shut the door. They shut off the power, they shut off their ability to be able to share. Uh, I mean, this is censorship, in my opinion, and we've got to talk about this because this is big tech that is doing that. So that's why I want to talk about in the next hour, so we'll talk a little bit about the impeachment should the president be impeached? Did what he say, because that's what they're going on is the speech that he made there at the Capitol prior to those that took seeds to the Capitol building should over those words worth impeaching a person on Did he really won that incited that violence? So we want to do that. Next. Here on the second hour of the Ray Appleton program, Jim Franklin, your guest host today. And as I say, always it is a privilege to sit in this seat. Don't go away. "Ray Appleton is on news talk 5 81 059 K. M. J. Well, in her words. Welcome to mutation Tuesday, okay? We should have a name for every day of the week that we have lived on. But this is a mutation Tuesday about a week ago, maybe a little longer than that. I got a rather enthusiastic note from her Facebook messenger. About the mutation and what's going on and and, wow, all these questions And obviously the mutation has made news and and We've seen that the British mutation, which is now moved into South Korea, the South Korean mutation which looks like there really is a musician, and you know, we've got all these questions about well with the vaccines handle American mutation. And according to one vaccine manufacturer, Yeah, no problem. We tried it all as well. So I mean, there's a lot going on, you know, and and I'm gonna let her you know. Be responsible person on this, because obviously I just talk for a living, and I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. So we do. Welcome back. Dr. Linda Haldeman became Jay and Linda. I hope Christmas was good. You know, I hope you had a wild time and it was lots of fun. How'd you fare on Christmas? You do well, Happy times. Thanks, Ray. It was highly uneventful. I am a little bit more inclined toward Gattaca. But a merry Christmas and happy New Year to all well aware of that, when I was obviously talking about the holiday season as a whole. You know, Uh, absolutely. I hope it was good for you. Um, the as I've been telling the audience, I've been getting a lot of fear from the audience about You know, mutation. Oh, my God. This thing is going to kill us all. It's mutating and on and on and not And you've indicated to me and before on this program that's only normal for a virus. A virus is a very Um, you know, tough little monster, very, very lint. If it runs into a dead and host, it's going to do its best to survive. It will mutate, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. So what are we seeing? Now? Take your time on. And what does it mean? In the in the long stretch? How does it watch with the new vaccines? Just talk to us about mutation. It seems to be making a lot of news. Give us the straight dope on it. Sure, Ray. I reached out to you because of the way that in general media was reporting this as some sort of brand new 2020 horror when that's not the case. First of all, Let's talk about what is the mutation. Every virus has a genetic code, the blueprints that determines how it behaves and where it can go and whether or not it can infect humans. I am all viruses mutate. That means that when they reproduce, there's little miss steaks done in the genetic code. Sometimes the mistakes are really good. A mutation that we'd love to see in the virus is one that makes it harder to get inside a human cell. And in fact, there are many, many dozens of different corona viruses in the world. Vast majority of them are not even capable. Getting in the human cell, but seven of them can and one of them is when we've been talking about that one that mutated. It's called SARS coding, too. Only mutation That's truly important so far about stars Cov to is the one that changed, allowing it to go from a bat into a human to invade a human cell before that, it couldn't do it. Little spike. Proteins just didn't have the set of burglar tools that they needed to get inside the human self. So what's the mutation? A mutation convey something as harmless as a change in the appearance under a special microscope. It could be something like I said that favors humans, making it kill itself out of existence, not able to infect us. But there are mutations that they get more perspective. Had infecting us easier to spread. In some mutations that we have not seen yet would make it give you more severe disease. We've identified and we I shouldn't include me in that. But worldwide scientists have identified many dozens of mutations since this thing showed up. In December of 2019. Probably the one that got the most press. Is the one that happened in early spring. In early spring, the type of stars cov two that was seen the genetic code was called D. But then it changed and got a new name called G. That achieve version became totally dominant to the point that as of July 2020 every bit of stars Cov two looked at under microscope tested. Was that she form G form was interesting because now the virus instead of just having burglar tools that had an accurate key to get inside cells, so it became more infections. It did not lead to more severe disease that just lead to greater numbers of people able to get the disease. Now let's fast forward to somewhere around September 2020. In the United Kingdom, where they have the best in the world at genetic sequencing to follow these viruses, they found there was a new version. It was a similar version, too. When they saw in South Africa. They saw this around Denmark. And they quickly realize this whole thing is becoming more dominant, particularly in the United Kingdom, but certainly elsewhere and when they looked at it under the microscope in laboratory circumstances, they said, huh? This thing appears to be able to better hold on. To the door knob of the human cells, giving it more time to put the key in the lock. Which means boy, this might be more infectious even than that older, cheeky one. But see, that's not been proven yet. We have to wait and see what happens. In real life. We're not talking about test tubes We want to know. Does this thing spread more? Whether or not it spreads more? That's really not the main issue. The questions answer. Is that any deadlier does it cause worst covert 19. So far, nothing suggests that And more important, probably is doesn't know how to outsmart the vaccines we have. Did it change enough so the vaccines are recognizable, making our immune systems. Susceptible Even after vaccination in the answer so far appears to be no. It appears that there is enough consistency in that little spike, which is the target of vaccines. That the current vaccines work against them. It's not a disaster. Even if this New strain mutates into something that outsmart, sir. Vaccine. Why? Well because of the new vaccines, technologies such that you can program Vaccine that's similar to the old one but takes into account the new appearance of the mutated stars Cov two. No interest. So where it used to be. Yeah, you spend months two years where you could get a new version. Like the influenza vaccine. It's now guess that it's probably weeks that we can pivot in offer a new one. If we need it at the moment doesn't appear that we need it. Okay? I think one of the that's where we're at. One of the fears that were running into is obviously here in California. When you look at Southern California's Central California we don't have any. You know any beds and in the hospital's it gives the impression that something Different is going on here. You combine that with how the mutations have been reported, and one could easily assume But I think falsely, and you've you've you've talked about this already. Uh, that this is some product of, you know a mutation. It's gotten worse. It's gonna get us all and that's that's not the case. I don't think we can. We can take this mutation. On, throw it on the table and say, Yeah, this is why we've got so many cases of it here in Central California, right? Well, No, but you also have to remember this virus is really good, As is at spreading its really infectious. It's way more infectious and typical influenza. The common cold, It has some really tricky. Parts to it that make it able to do that. We could go into how it it works. But we've known that since day one get into something more. Yeah, We knew that. But we also recognize that this mutation that happened in early spring Made it even more so. Why is it more spreading? Why are we seeing this explosion in cases where we seem so money, higher levels of hospitalization where we overwhelming our ICUs, particularly in the Central Valley. Well, that's not so much about mutations as it is about normal human behavior and normal virus behavior right when we're more likely to spend time indoors with our families, and that's during the winter colder months. We're more likely to spread it to each other than when we spend more time outside temperate moves, so that makes sense..
