What the president did yesterday was wrong. Calling this a pandemic of the unvaccinated list entirely inappropriate. This president is making the unvaccinated come off like an island full of lepers. And they're going to infect you all, just simply because they're not following. What now is a political political ideology. You know, all of a sudden getting vaccinated become a political ideology. Have you noticed? Um, you know, we heard this morning from some of steam, esteemed medical types who still report to the media. This is a medical problem, not a political problem. It's a medical problem based upon some numbers, and why don't those numbers, by the way, include a mandate for everybody in the White House to be vaccinated in this order? Mm. I mean, it's that level of hypocrisy that hypocrisy, hypocrisy That makes me a little bit crazy. And a lot of you joining up on that crazy train the way the president talks down to doctors is just wrong. Something else that drives me nuts and to just sit there and blame conservatives and Republicans for being the band of all the problems on the vaccines. Are you kidding me? I mean, it's obvious the public has deep politicize this because both Republicans in both Democrats and a massive load of independents, who by the way, are going to do away with the governor, Gavin Newsom next week. Then come together on this that they either like vaccines are they don't and vaccines have been around for a long time, and a lot of institutions have always has said you. You've got to have this vaccine and that vaccine and those medical records have been, you know, available since the dawn of time, and it's obvious to anybody that has a nose on their face. This is just wrong. Now, the president has told chose to make this a political process getting vaccinated or not getting vaccinated, not and not a medical process, and that has done the greatest disservice he could possibly do. To the population of the United States. Sounds like somebody's opening up a Budweiser in the background. You know, uh And these people who happened to be you know, the population of the United States are also voters. So how soon we forget, Joe Biden continues to make these bone headed statements that are untrue. And even with the media I thought was starting to pull together and get this right. I've taken on another step backwards with what he had to say yesterday, allowing most companies a soft out. Excuse me. On whether you know to produce a negative test or not, on a weekly basis or be vaccinated permanently, blah, blah, blah. You know, there are some companies like mine we have about 6000 employees. I believe And you work here or you don't because this company and the mind is saying they don't want to be a monitor of negative tests. And that's just the way it is. And so it begins with a number of companies are going to be doing this all over the country today are more likely Monday and the president How he handled that yesterday by not willing to take any questions from the media walking off like a dumb ass zombie after he'd given the order without answering anything was horrible. And this whole mantra about the how the vaccinated are supposed to be angry at the unvaccinated. We're all Americans, and we don't act this way normally. I couldn't remember the name of my catch the other day. I used to have nine Now that I have, you know, like two or three. It's that's unforgivable. So I figured something was wrong. And I went to see my doc and yea and Clint help me out for a couple of days and so After you know, drinking copious amounts. A PD A like, I don't know if I like that stuff or not, But I seem to have settled on orange flavor and taking some things that the doctor gave me. I think I'm doing a lot better. So to help me out a little bit today, just in case I start getting the big case of the shakes and somebody who's always shaky when it comes into the KPMG studios. Fresno County Health Officials Seeing an Increase of Covid Cases
"With new covid cases growing across the country, Fresno County health officials say they're noticing a surge in cases and younger populations, according to the data shared by the Health Department. Younger age groups are driving this surge. Now, If we look back to January of this year, when Covid 19 cases were surging people 65 older made up a big chunk of those early cases. Nearly 25%. Now they make up less than 15%. But 18 and younger category has done the opposite. They were at about 15% back in January. Now they make up nearly 20%. This is concerning because the under 18 population is not all eligible to be vaccinated. And so their only protection is the people around them. It's a very emotional driven, I guess party, you know, it's purely It's almost like the soap opera party. They're They're just ripping off anything that gives them I'm kind of raw emotion because they just can't find that in their daily lives, So they latch onto this drama everything to the president. See the You know, they talked about how you know I just watching how they freaked out about. You know the insurrection. They called it all this stuff. And to watch her like you. We've talked about that. You know Maxine Waters and my mind's one. Initiate all this. They know we need to get in their faces and, you know, tell them they're not welcome here, and it's like You watch that was just It's kind of laughable in a sense it they kind of brought us to the situation of incivility. Every single generation that I you know every everything I watched progress. It's been them bring us to this point where we supposedly, we're gonna have this Big street battle and Going teeth is out there all black and their their armor. E mean, the only bright spot in all of it is, um my my husband retired recently and we've been planning for years to move out of state on them, which is supposed to happen in the next six months or so. And I'm The kids, of course, were railing against that because they have their lives here, and they were just upset about moving. But now they're like That's fine. That's moved at schools are open, where we're moving to make sure that we don't have any lives there. We don't have any friends. We don't have many lives. So let's move. At least we can go to school there. Test Now I am going to thing. I really, uh I appreciate you calling in. 3 National Guard pilots killed in Idaho helicopter crash
"Three Idaho Army National Guard pilots are dead after their helicopter crashes on a training mission. The pilots were in a black hawk when it went down south of Lucky Peak. That's a park area about 10 miles from Boise, Idaho. This all happening around eight last night. National Guard said the bodies of those lost in the crash were found just after midnight this morning. The cause of this accident remains under investigation.

And there really isn't a lot of earth shattering stuff that is being reported by our friends at cable news today. It seems like they're kind of on. Ah. Repeat. Little bit of a holding pattern until the big inaugural, which takes place next week. And so I think maybe perhaps We're going to be able to get to the weekend without some great big piece of news. Remember, the East Coast is three hours ahead of us. So there it's 11 12 1 to 2 o'clock on the East Coast. They're almost done with their work day. So I'm hoping fingers crossed that we can get through the next three hours of the Ray Appleton show without some Earth shattering news. You know, I think I read somewhere. It's said that. It's 11 09, and I'm next in line, so they are they are rolling. Screw it, And so let me now it's health care workers and the 75 over in Fresno County. If you are 75 older, you could get this vaccine if you have to pre register so needing the be paranoid, but dedicated daughter that I am I went ahead and signed my dad. My dad's coming on Monday and I'm doing later on if you will, as we get it if I get my first shot, I know there's been a lot of concern over. Is it safer? Whatever. I have talked to you so many doctors and nurses, ICU nurses, people I work with in my private practice. That are like, sign me up. Give me the shot. I'm not saying that the end of the United States of America, but right now the fabric is being stretched, and it's being strained. And we're gonna have to decide if we're going to go back to the principles. This country was founded Bone We can disagree We can have we can have very passionate debate. Nothing wrong with that. We have this form of government because if it was another country if it was truly a takeover of a of a party that was in power than they would keep us from being able to do anything, we're not to that point. I think they're trying I think that's what they are doing, but they're not to that point trying to do something and doing something is two completely different things. About the mutation and what's going on and and, wow, all these questions And obviously the mutation has made news and and We've seen that the British mutation, which is now moved into South Korea, the South Korean mutation which looks like there really is a musician, and you know, we've got all these questions about well with the vaccines handle American mutation. And according to one vaccine manufacturer, Yeah, no problem. We tried it all as well. So I mean, there's a lot going on, you know, and and I'm gonna let her you know. Be responsible person on this, because obviously I just talk for a living, and I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. So we do. Welcome back. Dr. Linda Haldeman became Jay and Linda. You know, Uh, absolutely. I hope it was good for you. Um, the as I've been telling the audience, I've been getting a lot of fear from the audience about You know, mutation. Oh, my God. This thing is going to kill us all. It's mutating and on and on and not And you've indicated to me and before on this program that's only normal for a virus. A virus is a very Um, you know, tough little monster, very, very lint. If it runs into a dead and host, it's going to do its best to survive. It will mutate, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. So what are we seeing? Now? Take your time on. And what does it mean? In the in the long stretch? How does it watch with the new vaccines? Just talk to us about mutation. It seems to be making a lot of news. Give us the straight dope on it. Sure, Ray. I reached out to you because of the way that in general media was reporting this as some sort of brand new 2020 horror when that's not the case. First of all, Let's talk about what is the mutation. Every virus has a genetic code, the blueprints that determines how it behaves and where it can go and whether or not it can infect humans. I am all viruses mutate. That means that when they reproduce, there's little miss steaks done in the genetic code. Sometimes the mistakes are really good. A mutation that we'd love to see in the virus is one that makes it harder to get inside a human cell. And in fact, there are many, many dozens of different corona viruses in the world. Vast majority of them are not even capable. Getting in the human cell, but seven of them can and one of them is when we've been talking about that one that mutated. It's called SARS coding, too. Only mutation That's truly important so far about stars Cov to is the one that changed, allowing it to go from a bat into a human to invade a human cell before that, it couldn't do it. Little spike. Proteins just didn't have the set of burglar tools that they needed to get inside the human self. So what's the mutation? A mutation convey something as harmless as a change in the appearance under a special microscope. It could be something like I said that favors humans, making it kill itself out of existence, not able to infect us. But there are mutations that they get more perspective. Had infecting us easier to spread. In some mutations that we have not seen yet would make it give you more severe disease. We've identified and we I shouldn't include me in that. But worldwide scientists have identified many dozens of mutations since this thing showed up. In December of 2019. Probably the one that got the most press. Is the one that happened in early spring. In early spring, the type of stars cov two that was seen the genetic code was called D. But then it changed and got a new name called G. That achieve version became totally dominant to the point that as of July 2020 every bit of stars Cov two looked at under microscope tested. Was that she form G form was interesting because now the virus instead of just having burglar tools that had an accurate key to get inside cells, so it became more infections. It did not lead to more severe disease that just lead to greater numbers of people able to get the disease. Now let's fast forward to somewhere around September 2020. In the United Kingdom, where they have the best in the world at genetic sequencing to follow these viruses, they found there was a new version. It was a similar version, too. When they saw in South Africa. They saw this around Denmark. And they quickly realize this whole thing is becoming more dominant, particularly in the United Kingdom, but certainly elsewhere and when they looked at it under the microscope in laboratory circumstances, they said, huh? This thing appears to be able to better hold on. To the door knob of the human cells, giving it more time to put the key in the lock. Which means boy, this might be more infectious even than that older, cheeky one. But see, that's not been proven yet. We have to wait and see what happens. In real life. We're not talking about test tubes We want to know. Does this thing spread more? Whether or not it spreads more? That's really not the main issue. The questions answer. Is that any deadlier does it cause worst covert 19. So far, nothing suggests that And more important, probably is doesn't know how to outsmart the vaccines we have. Did it change enough so the vaccines are recognizable, making our immune systems. Susceptible Even after vaccination in the answer so far appears to be no. It appears that there is enough consistency in that little spike, which is the target of vaccines. That the current vaccines work against them. It's not a disaster. Even if this New strain mutates into something that outsmart, sir. Vaccine. Why? Well because of the new vaccines, technologies such that you can program Vaccine that's similar to the old one but takes into account the new appearance of the mutated stars Cov two. No interest. So where it used to be. Yeah, you spend months two years where you could get a new version. Like the influenza vaccine. It's now guess that it's probably weeks that we can pivot in offer a new one. If we need it at the moment doesn't appear that we need it. Okay? I think one of the that's where we're at. One of the fears that were running into is obviously here in California. When you look at Southern California's Central California we don't have any. You know any beds and in the hospital's it gives the impression that something Different is going on here. You combine that with how the mutations have been reported, and one could easily assume But I think falsely, and you've you've you've talked about this already. Uh, that this is some product of, you know a mutation. It's gotten worse. It's gonna get us all and that's that's not the case. I don't think we can. We can take this mutation. On, throw it on the table and say, Yeah, this is why we've got so many cases of it here in Central California, right? Well, No, but you also have to remember this virus is really good, As is at spreading its really infectious. It's way more infectious and typical influenza. The common cold, It has some really tricky. Parts to it that make it able to do that. We could go into how it it works. But we've known that since day one get into something more. Yeah, We knew that. But we also recognize that this mutation that happened in early spring Made it even more so. Why is it more spreading? Why are we seeing this explosion in cases where we seem so money, higher levels of hospitalization where we overwhelming our ICUs, particularly in the Central Valley. Well, that's not so much about mutations as it is about normal human behavior and normal virus behavior right when we're more likely to spend time indoors with our families, and that's during the winter colder months. We're more likely to spread it to each other than when we spend more time outside temperate moves, so that makes sense..
