"World if you will. And it got me thinking like, nobody stock has gone up more. Not even in the American market, like Timothy weah. It's literally Timothy waya is the one guy right now that you would have to really say took his play to the next level. Whether it's on the ball or off the ball, this man has proved his worth offensively. Christian Pulisic may have been your most productive player in this World Cup, but the most dangerous player for the U.S. men's national team was without a doubt, Timothy weah. And Leo, why maybe a good level? Okay, I don't think it's the level for him. I think there are bigger clubs out there for him and at Lille. I mean, he was playing right back exactly long ago. Like there's bigger and better out there for him. So he's playing some right wing. Somebody saved him from this purgatory. And even when he's playing, he's not playing much. He had 317 minutes this season. So some of that's injuries. But he's either playing out of position or not playing. He's 23 years old. His contract expires in 2024. So what's important to that? Well, it might be that Leo right now. Easy out. It's an easy out. And if they wait any longer, if they wait 6 months, now he's the player with one year left in his deal. And if you're looking at him as a long-term project, which most teams probably would be at a 23 year old, then you just say, oh, he's got a year left on his deal. We'll just wait 6 months. And get him on a free. You write 6 months. Exactly. And so I think there's a motivation here potentially for Leo to sell based on him boosting his stock. Just to clear something up. So fabricio Romano did confirm that there's interest from Inter Milan in Antony Robinson, where he said there wasn't interest. I believe this is what you're referencing is Tyler Adams. There were some other links, but he cleared that up that Tyler Adams and Inter Milan, they're had not been maybe direct there. So let's just clear that up. And it's interesting that it's Tyler Adams. Because that's why I'm going with for stock up, right? I feel like Tim with a great shout. But if we talk about players who jumped off the screen at you for what they did, in pretty much all the games, except for Netherlands and maybe there's maybe there's something to be said about at that elite level. He didn't shine like he did in the first three games. But my man covered more than 8 miles of ground,

"Because he scores a bunch of those goals and in timely manners against big opponents. It's not those goals, okay? It's not the assist. He gets those two. It's not the way he does box to box and how he's defensively. I don't want to say sound but this chaotic and he does things against the opponent. A winner. And yes, and for your team. It's not all that. It's his infectious play. In the best possible sense of the term, it's how he makes others better. And if you want to get down to the root of it, it's how pedestrian the U.S. men's national team looks without them. That really is the case. I got to disagree with you here. I got to go with Christian Pulisic. Look, Christian Pulisic, whether it's goals or whether it's a cis is your most likely goal creator at the World Cup, bottom line, 5 goals, he led the team in qualifying, right? He's the top scorer for the U.S. no matter what role he's playing. He's the guy that's going to get you goals. Those goals are eventually going to get you points. And those points are what's going to get you out of the group phase. The other thing here is I look on paper and I'm thinking about players who you have given a lot of love to in midfield. Luca de la Torre, Eunice Musa, you seem to love the idea of Brendan aronson in midfield. Do you not now trust those guys to get the job done without McKinney? I just don't think there's anybody like McKenna. You mentioned Eunice and Luca not two guys that are very good in between the boxes but not necessarily come up on the score sheet or do or maybe the direct pass to be contributed to the goal. They're the play before that, you know, which are very good players, but Weston is just so many different variables and layers of danger. I mean, you're talking about a guy who come in as a third runner, a guy who goes from a deep line position into the box and crashes in. A guy who wants set pieces is so valuable and you mentioned Christian ballistic the leading goal scorer and World Cup qualifying. He scored three of those in one game. I mean, when you talk about big games, finals, games against your big opponents, Weston always shows up. He just happens to be that guy and I repeat. Take a look at the worst performances for the U.S. men's national team. Oftentimes, Weston's not there. I think a direct route of why they've played so bad why they look so pedestrian. Yeah, I don't think there's a lot of guys that you can even put in this category. I think Weston McKinney is in it. I think politics in it. I think Tyler Adams is probably in it as well. I think he's another guy that you say, hey, when he's not there, you really notice it. Other than that, I don't know if anybody else is in there, the only guy who I can even think to maybe put in would be walker's Zimmerman. And that's almost by default, huh? Yeah, I honestly, at this point, would say Anthony Robinson before Tyler Adams, just 'cause Tyler Adams, yeah, I think Antony Robinson's, what he's shown is invaluable goals assists the ability to play make if you will from that left hand side. All right, let's focus on another player who's definitely headed to the World Cup. We don't know what

"This case too much this window. There's an evident gap between sergino dest and the rest of the right backs and the question here is what if something happens to Antony Robinson while the most logical decision would be sergino desk to the left side. And then there's a right back race. The reality is that Reggie cannon has only factored as an important player in an important game. Recently in what was the gold Cup final and he played, I believe that's the only start he had, he got yanked in the 65th minute. And if you look at World Cup qualifying, he had in the back end two games where he makes cameo appearances. He's not been involved in an important game for the U.S. men's national team as the guy. That goes in definitely against him. This is a player that is battling with Deandre Yellen Joe scallion and Shaq Moore. I think it's an arms race that he's losing right now. So I would agree with you in the stock down. But we do stock up stock down a lot with two games left between now and the World Cup and these four games now in the rearview mirror. This feels about as important a stock up stock down as we are going to do. I don't know if you saw this earlier. It looks like we do have some info on who the U.S. will be playing in that September window looks like it'll be Saudi Arabia in Spain, potentially Japan as well. What do you think of those matchups? Pretty tasty. Yeah, especially that Saudi Arabia one for not just the U.S. men's nationally, but potentially Mexico to see what they got in store. There you go, some advanced scouting for L three speaking of Mexico and action on Tuesday as well and Concacaf Nations.

"Like GIC's artists. They don't see names like Sebastian legit. They do see other though burr halter favorites. Especially you got like Jordan Morris, which to me is one of the interesting things is you break down kind of where the positions are on this roster, not the Jordan Morrison, a good player, but let's look at the other wide options that Walter has just for this window. Aaronson, Paul areola, Christian Pulisic, raina, waya. Do you need, do you need 6 wide options for a game like this? Why not maybe distribute that spot for? I don't know, another 9, one of the guys that you might have left off, or even somebody who can help you at left back, you're a little bit there. For the left back, I think you're going to get the left back to continue your desk as injury is going to force you to bring in a left back because you don't have cover for Antony Robinson. Because Virginia desk was that cover. So maybe don't go there just yet, but if we're talking about these wingers, you just mentioned Brendan errands and you mentioned Giovanni Reina. These are two players. I think we might see centrally in this next window. We might see them as 8. We talk about Weston McKinney, who's going to replace western McKinney, everybody talks about Kalani Costa, look at del toro. I don't know if we're going to need a little curveball. We may see a little Brendan aaronson, I think it's fully capable of doing that. If we don't see a little Giovanni reyna, who I think is fully capable of doing that. I think we may get a little bit of that right there. It's more of when you talk about players that he knows, you mentioned Jordan Morris. Well, James sands. James sands being in this list. If you wanted to go innate and you wanted to go Major League Soccer and there's no legit and that's one of his preferred individuals. Joining my high level, which has been killing it lately. He's a guy that I see has a huge ceiling. He's a guy who's been attracting a lot of European interests. And he still can't get on this roster. He still can't get a sniff, so that's interesting to me. There's a lot of inconsistencies here. I wouldn't read too much into the wide players as of yet because look, the players who are there, we know why they're there. Greg berhalter himself has said Paul areola, Jordan Morris, they offer a certain amount of verticality, a certain amount of getting behind, defenders that he happens to enjoy. So we know why they're there. Maybe these other guys like Brendan aronson and Giovanni Reina, even though they're, in a sense, wingers, they can play that central role. 27 names herk, who's the biggest surprise included for you. Aaron long. It's got to be Aaron long. For what I just mentioned a little bit of that. This is a player. You know what? Now that I think of it, I shouldn't really be surprised. I shouldn't really be surprised. Let me explain why it's a surprise, but it's not a surprise. It's a surprise because he's not played in over a year. This.

"With this. The golden knight did not come from the number 9 position. Instead it came from a left back and Antony Robinson. We got Sam Bourdain down hustling the sideline trying to wrangle as many American players as he can just moments ago. He scored with the match winner. Antony, can you describe what goes through your mind when you see the ball hit the back of the net? First thing that went through my mind to be honest, I told my friend tonight I was going to school and do the celebration I did. So I just felt like, you know, dream come true. Let's talk about that celebration. I think a lot of us thought you'd actually pull through hamstring. What was going on there? A few years ago when I was ever in a kid did the same celebration against those of my best friend. He's been saying to me for weeks, you've got to do it every time I score he's like, why didn't you do it? So I pulled out. What do you think about this window? What is this win dude for you guys in your confidence? It's huge, you know what I mean? Obviously, I don't know how the rest of the groups got on, but for us, we just want to win. We've been taking a game by the game, prepare for this game. It wasn't the prettiest performance, I think, at times we did well, missed a few key chances, but in the end, we got the win, you know, for the determination, we kept the clean sheet and now it's on to the next game it's on Canada. Thanks very much. Great work from Sam great goal from Anthony Robin Robinson in the 52nd minute. I'll put him up as man of the match. You got any problem with that? No. I mean, for lack of someone else, I thought Musa was solid. I thought Tyler Adams wasn't at his best today. Defensively worked the U.S. weren't really pushed. So in a lot of ways, I thought Anthony Robinson continued to press in good positions, supported well, and then got the reward for working that hard to get into that advanced position. Left back used to be a position of weakness a question mark for this team now it's almost a source of strength. You didn't like Johnny bornstein? But he's a hundred years ago. That was my generation relax. Yeah, exactly. You know what it is? It's always been an enigma for the U.S. men's national team. Who could be that left back at one point as Johnny bornstein at one point is to markets Beasley, you know? That's the Barker's Frankie Hayden play out. Lewis have you had a.

"There's so much attention going on that when he does make the decision to come off the wing and come and feel he's almost always open and getting an opportunity. And that's what we've seen with the two goals. Falls bouncing through balls going over the head as the opposition fullback has to follow. Or whoever the wide winger is inside. And him reading those moments and taking advantage. Now, he doesn't do it a ton, which there's probably a positive there. It comes out of nowhere, and it's not planned for. The negative is, it feels like you could even get more opportunities, like this. And then he's just been really calm with his chances. He had another chance in this one. I think desk came in field and set him up and he curled one and it just went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Been a while since we talked about left back being a black hole. I know we don't have a ton of depth there, but it looks like Robinson is that guy. His celebration, I'm in a ran again. Stop with the flashing lights. The dude has center stage. And you're just taking that moment and you're just throwing a bunch of strobe lights on it, but he does the flip, the fake hammy where you guys tricked by the fake handy? Did you fall for that? Did you notice that? I did not notice it. I was clipping the, I was clipping the highlight from clip row as soon as I flushed it. Anyway, and then he goes, he goes for the sprint. I say let this man do the celebrations for everybody. I did enjoy how a little bit of a redemption moment. And not just with that one with the little way down to units Musa as well to sort of set these up. But a big moment for Antony Robinson and he said afterwards, I've been dared to do this celebration for a while. Somebody dropped it on us like two or three years ago..

"Think you need to either. It wasn't like the goal was what was going to need to separate the two sides on the score sheet. That's what needed to happen, but in terms of general play, I think the U.S. were better. So yeah, that's a fine turning point. Andrew, I agree with you. The big winners from tonight. I have a couple of a couple listed here. Let me do mine first. No. I don't think there's anything we saw from the midfield we didn't really already know. I think we've been generally pleased with where has developed and made himself a character in the site. Christian Pulisic will get to Robinson for me was the big winner tonight definitely. Just in general, in the importance of his performance. If I was criticizing the midfield, if I was going to do that, I would say that often a lot of the good things that happened happened when desk has the ball or happened when our two fullbacks out of the ball. As good as that midfield is our full backs getting forward, creating overlords wide, creating one tools, linking the player doing all that stuff. It's really, really important to this site in the way it's set up. And the way they give with. And so when Robinson is playing as well as he is, that stands out to me. He has made himself into one of the most indispensable players on the team. I know that's potentially big statement, but the reason I say it is you could go through almost every other position on this team and say, okay, well, if this guy got hurt at that spot, there's someone behind him who maybe isn't quite to that level, but not far off. The exception potentially being pulisic, although God forbid, this is not me willing any injuries. I'm just saying injuries are a part of the sport. Even if he got hurt, you know, Brendan aronson is probably cover for him. And I think he's brenton may not be Christian Pulisic. You know, I think political's the best part of the team. But I still think we're a damn good team with Brendan aaronson in that spot. Antony Robinson is one of the only ones where I think if he's not there, there's a problem. And you can move desk over to left back, but it's not his natural position. Anthony Robinson is excellent in that role, both in defense, his speed, his recovery speed, and what we've seen in attack, huge goal tonight was the difference, huge goal against Honduras, got them back in that one, just after half time. So he's quickly risen during this qualifying period as being one of their most important players. So he was probably my big winner tonight. Man of the match and everything else that I just said. Tim weill also, down the right side, he seemed to be the guy for especially in that first half who was probably giving El Salvador most of their problems. Yeah, and I thought we could have made more of that. I think that pass was on nearly every time. And look, it's not intricate play, but it's a little clip all over into that into that channel and just let them run at it. And the couple of times that he did it, they looked dangerous. And I don't think I don't feel we exploited that enough. Look, he had the flick header that on a different night for our scores and it's an assist for way. In the second half, he had the shot that led to the goal on a different night where the goalie wasn't as sharp on that one. It's a goal. So on a different night, he's got to go and insist and we're not that far off from having that conversation. So all in all, he was in good form the last set of qualifiers. I thought, for the most part, I felt like that still continued tonight. And then one other one, now this is not me saying that this was a great night for this guy, but I do want to just give you a sneaky interesting stat on Jesus Ferreira. Okay. Not necessarily one of my winners of the night, but JJ Jesus Ferreira is the second American to create four chances in a game this qualifying round. Antony Robinson is the only other one who's done it. He did it against Jamaica. Only two guys in this qualifying period for the U.S. have created four chances in a game. And Jesus Ferreira tonight was one of them. So creating a challenge. He didn't finish the show. So he created the goal was one. His two chances, and then what was the. I don't remember the fourth. Okay. All right. I believe everything that I read. So there you have it. So I figured out what at least put that in there for the people saying, why is he playing tonight? Certain corners might look at his performance and say, if he could just finish a little better, which maybe that'll come, but it's not like he was a waste of space out there. The losers tonight, JJ. I don't see any losers. Well, I mean, if you're going to be this loser. If you're going to be this black and white, if you're going to be this cruel shall I say. Christian Pulisic was poor. Running into blind alleys holding up the ball too long. You are a big body language guy. I think I really feel strongly about body language, especially from your leader and captain. Yeah. And you believe in sports a lot and you before the game said, look at his face. There was a quick shot of him warming up. And he looked uncomfortable or upset irked. And who knows? Someone might have farted for all we know. It might have been nothing. And you know in that clear night here, that's going to be? You're going to notice that. Yeah. And his performance was it was emblematic of that kind of nondescript. Even afterwards on the bench when he came off, no one likes to be taken off, but I think he realizes you could realize if you are Christian Pulisic. Hey, I got two more games to come. I need to come off. Now, I can't stay for the whole game. And the big ones on Sunday. But even the shots of him on the bench, he was wrapped in a towel. But the headshot was framed around the towel. So he looked like almost like a child. Again, context is important. It's freezing cold. It's not crazy to think you want something covering his head. No. The warmest place was on the field running around. The minute you stop running and then you get caught. But it just like I said we hold him to a high standard and he was not he didn't stand out tonight..

"To be playing in these balls on the free kick. Now look, I mean, maybe I would say go raina, but he's obviously out. On a Costa did have that role in the summer a little bit. He played in that. He played in the ball for miles Robinson's head. Yeah, and he didn't start the game, so right. So it's been incumbent on Brendan aronson, who can strike a ball. Yeah. You know, he was there. But right now, it's just non threatening. And all a lot of these set pieces is just kind of on repeat. It's like I just saw this. It's become frustrating because that's such an important part of advancing in tournaments and certainly in qualifications. So it's something they're going to have to work on. And I'm sure that they're aware of that. As we get into the second half, JJ, I mean, let's go to the Bobby Reed moment. I mean, the balls played in. It's a dangerous ball. Antony Robinson tries to clear it, but I don't know what he's doing. So that goes horribly wrong. And it winds up being just like a perfectly set up ball for Bobby Reid, maybe it bounced a little higher than he was expecting. Couldn't get his foot on top of it. And from within 6 yards, he blasts that thing way out into rosette as you would say and I mean, what a let off for the U.S. and what a potentially deflating moment for Jamaica to not have converted that. We just should have called this podcast now. We just call it deflation. Did the word just keeps coming up. And it starts Andrew would Deandre yedlin in the fullback position. He should clear his lines. He gets kind of caught in two minds, half goes for a ball, Jamaica get it back. Bog goes into the box. Again, I don't know what Anthony Robinson is doing, but I will say this. If Bobby reads scoffs that, it's more likely to go in than the connection he got on it, which was just like rocketed. If he clips it with the bottom of his boot or his studs, it's probably going in to the net. And in a game where I thought he was so poor. For a player I've really liked. I thought he was just so far off it. Tonight. I mean, everything he did. And then I think later on he had a corner kick and it hits the first defender. And I'm like, just take this guy off. If I'm the Jamaican manager, you know, whitmore, get rid of them off straight away. Andrew, that was just the most massive massive stroke of lock. And then I think in like the 65th minute, Pulitzer Pulitzer coming on for where I want to take into. I know you've got to take someone off. But I wouldn't have. For the late, you know, unless he's, you know, they're managing minutes. I know he has had injuries in the past. On unless they're doing that. And it's a load management issue. I'm leaving him on. And I'm finding another way to get through this again to the game. And kellyn Acosta for younes Musa again just screamed to me. Musa, I don't know, was it tiredness? Maybe there's not enough 90 minutes in his legs at Valencia. I'm not sure. I would have left him as well. Because bringing Kellen a cast iron means a little not a little a lot more conservative in your approach towards the end of the game. And then you saw, I guess some have chances. Well, before you before you move off of that, I want to say one thing because I have one criticism of the substitution and involves Christian Pulisic, but it involves a kind of the other way. I don't know, we talked about the Thomas Tuchel comments, almost like subliminally bullying the U.S. into being ultra conservative with pulisic. It wasn't subliminal. It was very obvious. I don't know that he was trying to bully them. He was just suggesting, please don't get my guy hurt. Please be responsible with how you use them. I'm not saying Greg bear halter, listen to that or cared. But to me, in a game where the U.S. are clearly floundering in attack and you've got this gem like bring them on earlier. I don't know maybe they had some time. Sure. Sure. It's Christian Pulisic. And look, I will choose to trust them in terms of what's going on behind the scenes that I'm not privy to, whether that whether that be some kind of conversation about being conservative with him because it's important that he be playing a prominent role in his club side. Maybe that factored in, or just what they saw from him in training, maybe they're maybe they're performance staff, said I wouldn't push this guy. I don't know. There could be more than I am aware of. But just going off of what I've seen and the player that he is and what the U.S. were in need of in that moment, I would have brought him on earlier. That's my criticism. They needed something dynamic and attack. And look, we saw it against Mexico. 20 minutes is certainly more than enough time for him to come on and make his mark. But I wouldn't mind 45. So that was a little bit disappointing to me. I would have liked to have seen more of him not just tonight. But in this cycle, in this window, I agree, but I think what they were trying to do is to break the cycle. IE the cycle of lots of time in international Judy injured out for Chelsea back for international Judy. Nock picked up out again. I think that there was probably a maybe not a complete meeting of minds because there was a little back and forth between bear halter and Tuco but a general sense that let's try and manage his minutes. But like because tuka was talking about pain Andrew. No pain, we could get into a whole debate about what does paying mean does pain necessarily mean you're injured, not actually paying on recovery, all those things. Tug was talking about pain. He was still feeling pain going into this window. I don't know. I mean, I look at it and think, well, how many how long does it take for a guy to be built up and ready to go 90 minutes, or at least he had been training with Chelsea? He came on with two substitute appearances for Chelsea..

"Eunice Moussa's back in, but you have a couple different players in there as well. Sebastian legit, Kellen Acosta. And I think it's a cliche Taylor, but it really feels like this game is lost in midfield. What do we make of the different levels of play that we see three days apart from a midfield trio that wall is different still has one guy in it that's the same, and that's unusual. Yeah, what's concerning for me, her concept is this is that there really is only one 6 on this roster. And that's Tyler Adams. And the moment you take Tyler Adams out of the middle, everything looks discombobulated. Everything looks unhinged, and it doesn't feel comfortable within the system. Yes, he came off the bench in this one, but there was energy immediately to the game. Everyone had a little bit more pep in their step, whatever it may be, there was a few more options to pass the ball through the midfield and whatnot. I think western mckenney at times plays as if he wants to run the show as if he's the guy that can run the show. I don't think he's that type of player, and I think he needs to transform mores to the guy that we saw at Schalke. And so I understand the area concern, and I get it. But I'm still, and I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but they're not creating a ton of chances. The final product isn't there all the time. And I know great bear alternate staff love the model of expected goals, but when you look at the last 13 games that I'm beaten, it's not as if they're creating two three four expected goals every single game. And so chances are extremely limited for this team. So no matter what it is, and I understand if Tyler Adams is healthy, the midfields less of a concern for me, but regarding Ricardo Pepe up front or not. This team still struggles to score goals. And Eric, I don't know if you've seen the same thing I have yet why can they not score goals in the first half and then have to react? Change things and come out the second half. That in a nutshell is a problem. Yeah, and instead he was alluding to that earlier on in the segment where you talk about he got things right a half time. His adjustments were correct and they weren't this go around. That's still begs the question, why are you starting that way? Now we talk about Greg bertram, stani wants to implement and Taylor, you're right, he loves he's expected goals. He's very much excuse the term. Statin nerd when it comes to that. A PowerPoint nerd. But the football has been played that way. Football isn't played with numbers, played with feeling, it's played with instincts. And this is the problem. We talk about him being a possession based coach. This team being a possession based team, for ten halves, they've not been that. They've had two good halves, 8 very bad halves. And you look at the outside backs to me very important because when those acts outside effects have been good and taken care of the ball, it gets the center of the midfield going. It gets Tyler Adams. It gets western McKinney. Whoever's in there, younes Musa whoever's in there involved which gets their junior desk, Antony Robinson. When those fullbacks are good, when they take care of the ball, the team has confidence when they don't, they rely on their center backs to come out with it, and it's root one and it's very, very ugly. It feels a lot of the times like there's home run swings on these lineups, right? And sometimes it hits. Sometimes it doesn't. And I don't know if those risks are necessary, but I assume Gregg halter knows the depth of his of his talent pool better than we do. Let me ask this. Before we move on from the Panama game real quick. Panama in this match was Concacaf to an extreme almost. There's a point where you can have the stretchers come out as much as you want. But there's a difference to me like another line that's crossed when folks are running onto the field at very convenient moments and balls are coming in at very convenient moments. You guys have lived through all the shenanigans of Concacaf. And I know we accept games mention to a point in this region. Did it cross a line into cheating Taylor last night? Well, I mean, what do we expect from Concacaf guys? We're doing a World Cup qualifying round without VAR. And so you guys obviously heard me during the first half of Jamaica, absolutely blow a gasket on this. It's mind boggling to me. And yet you literally had fans running onto the field in beta on city asking for selfies. There were three balls on the field at one point. At what point is Concacaf's gonna look at itself and say, you know what? Fine. But I remind everyone watching this show. In 2017, Panama qualified for the World Cup on a goal that never went in. A goal that never went in. Was parents headed it and went outside the nets came back in. It was all about and went in and they give it a goal because of no VAR. They're like, it's good. Enjoy Russia. I don't know what to do. I don't see her. Expect the unexpected when it comes to concave half is the way I look at it. But you're right. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it will be in the only way it's going to change is if you implement things like var and I understand most stadiums aren't set up to be quick with var, but those who have it should be allowed to use it. It's very simple to me. And Concacaf, it's known for the dark arts, it's known for stretching its rules, probably more than the Taylor's wearings being stretched. It's the way it is. Taylor, you'll be in Columbus for the game against Costa Rica. Let's look forward to that match for just a second. All right, so you got Greg berhalter's here. You can tell one player that he's gotta put back into the starting lineup for this game. Columbus is easy against Costa Rica. Based on what you said, I think we know who it's going to be, but who is it? It's Tyler Adams. I'm not moving them. I'm not making the fact that he started the first half at right back against Honduras was mind boggling to me..

"By these fans. So a lot of fans who see Major League Soccer has a polarizing entity who see Major League Soccer players as a weak link within the U.S. men's national team. I don't buy into that, but Greg ber Holter and these players getting these results in the cirque essential way is feeding this narrative. And it's not a good thing to have this type of divide. Maybe the only national team in the world where there is this what's the word to say, where is this spike of the domestic league with its players? I think farc is just backing sergeant here. He just doesn't want to say that it's because he's dropped out of form. That's why he's not called in. So he's kind of providing another excuse. If I'm a U.S. fan or a sergeant fan, I kind of like it. Your managers back in your guide. The other point is if you had called in Josh Sargent, you're probably only getting him for what? Two of the three games. I mean, if we look at the examples of Antony Robinson, if we look at the example of Zack Stefan, they don't make the trip to Panama. It is on the UK red list. So Josh sergeant had he scored in those first three games? You bet they would have called him in, even if he's only available for 2003. That tie breakers held against fair enough, but that the martino got raul he managed for all three games and even with reckless country. So make that take it for what it's worth. All right, let's bring in Taylor twin, and then he joins us to discuss more of the fallout from the United States one nothing defeat against Panama in Panama City. Taylor, you just had to listen to us prattle on there for a little while. Who do you think is more to blame? The manager or the players? You two are the best. I absolutely love this show. Every single time I'm on it. Honestly, Greg burr said it's on him, right? Gregg said it's on him and his staff. And so he answers the question for us. And so he raises his hand. He takes accountability and says it is on him. I completely agree with her and you, Seb in the sense that if you look at what Germany did, if you look at what the Netherlands did against lesser opponents, they rotated maybe three players. Not 7. And so you're over calculating in your overthinking this three days of travel and high heat and whatever. This is World Cup qualifying. You have to get as many points as you can get as quickly as possible no matter who's in front of you. And so for me, there's a way over calculation about the travel and the humidity and heat which by the way for the record, if you are going to make 7 changes in that kind of weather, it behooves you to use Major League Soccer players that have been planned in that weather for the last four months. So how those players showed up and laid an egg with no energy, no enthusiasm, nothing whatsoever is beyond me, but this is on the manager, because in my opinion, the rest of the world is still treating every single opponent the same way by rotating the squad with two or three players, not an overhaul of 7 players against a team that Mexico struggled playing down there as you said her. Any team that's played Panama in Panama has struggled. So the proof is in the pudding. You've seen it. Panama is a better team than they have been in years past quite honestly than when we've gone down there. Myself in the generation ahead of us that went down there and got results. And so I just think there was way too much overthinking in this and they under calculated how good Panama is at home and they're overthinking this way too much at times about fitness and about travel and all of this. When the rest of the world is doing similar types of things. Now in saying that Seb, I'm with you in this extent. The players have some accountability, my word. It's one thing to talk about tactics in technique and hers tweeted this and he's a 100% right about arrogance. But the first thing you got to have, the first thing you've got to have is energy. You've got to have the ability to run compete and fight. If you don't even have that, I can't even talk about the other stuff because you're not providing the simple fundamental thing, which is run through a wall and play for your country, which they got none of that last night, and four years ago, the United States lost a Trinidad and Tobago. This was almost an identical performance that made everyone want to puke because she didn't get to compete factor first. Talk about tactics later. But give me the compete. And give me the fights and then we'll worry about whether or not you can pass the ball. But if you're not gonna run what's the point of showing up? Yeah, let me run something by you. Okay, 'cause I heard this narrative about running about trying about intensity. And that's all that's all good. It looks good from afar. But have you ever been Taylor? Have you ever been in an environment where your legs feel weak? We're all of a sudden the opponents on top of you where you see the crowd and you're like, I don't see this weekend week out. And in the goal comes in and you feel like the world is coming down on you. I saw that from these players. So we can talk about trying we can talk about competing. We can talk about intensity. We can talk about desire all that stuff. But if you've never been there done that, that seems so that's something to be said there. Okay. Experiences a real thing, her, the experiences of real thing. It's a great point. It's a real thing. One of the things that came out of the first match was how everybody was in love with this new young midfield. The midfield trio that Greg berhalter uses in Austin against Jamaica, right? Wesson McKinney Tyler Adams Eunice Musa. Obviously, there's some limitations there, right? Tyler Adams, he's told us Gregg halter that he's got to watch those minutes. He hasn't been playing with Leipzig 90 minutes a game. He's not going to risk him here. Wesley McKinney, we know wasn't available for this match. Eunice Moussa's back in, but you have a couple different players in there as well. Sebastian legit, Kellen Acosta. And I think it's a cliche Taylor, but it really feels like this game is lost in.

"That was put out there that we were set up to fail. Kaelin mentioned the changes. But i would argue the to field players outside walkers airman who maintained from the last game they looked exhausted in the first half in yunus mussa and paul arriola. And you talk about that. I mean i mean at some point. Gregg berhalter hands are tied. Or do you put this on him for the way. This team went out and perform. I mean obviously. He made some of the wrong calls with how much rotated in who he rotated at. I maintain that the home games are more important. So i took completely understand keeping tyler adams fresh trying to anyway i completely understand heating miles robinson antony robinson is well sergio I completely understand all of that What i don't understand is how calinikos Sebastian legit You know a few other guys. Iasi's artists was in great Tim away all these guys who have played so well. I mean again. Calendar cost does the man of the match in the gold cup final. it's mexico. It was the best player on the field playing the number six and he finally got a chance to play number six qualifying tonight. She looked afraid of the ball. He looked afraid of the moment. And this is the guy who's played in qualifiers before carolina coast is played in the as tech in a qualifier before he's had big moments for club and country in central america before so it was really disheartening to see these guys who all summer long were making a case for being the type of depth that would get the us through qualifying with ease but with few moments like like this one Really shy away from it. It was it was that first half is especially tough to watch. Obviously tyler adams bumped it up a level in the second half but Even that was not it was still not good. And the guys who i mean. We've seen repeatedly throughout this year. Guys given a chance to step up in the moment in win and do it It was the opposite of that tonight. It is like playing so poorly that you you have to lose confidence in them after this performance so we did this show after the gold cup final. We celebrated the big mystery. This this summer was who who can replace tyler adams. Yeah and we came here. Killing casa is it the role. Can he not play that role. Is he really an eight. Does he needs to be in there with tyler is. He's been better as six it for the us than he's ever been as an aid because as an eight he doesn't get on the ball and dry forty doesn't do the stuff that we saw yunus mussa do the other night but he didn't even a sixth today either. I know if we have seen him. We have seen him do that. Though wit right we we saw him do that against mexico against cutter. We those are. Those teams are better than panam. We saw him do that why he wasn't able to do it tonight. I mean he's got to ask himself that gregg. Berhalter gotta figure it out too because wouldn't basically the whole team comes out flat Something has gone wrong with.

Glad that he's back in the squad and he's he's a certain positive to have In the side so totally good with it and happy to move on from that chapter and hope that it doesn't have to be revisited In terms of the defense. There's not really a whole lot to judge. I thought i liked it. The i thought zimmerman and robinson partnered well together. That was the partnership that we didn't really get to see all of the gold cup. They were reunited. Tonight and i find they. They covered each other well. I was surprised. I was surprised. That jamaica didn't go more like get nicholson one. V won't against zimmerman and drive longer more that they weren't more direct. Were only able to string passes together so i thought why not knock into channels are knock it up because zimmerman generally i know. I don't think he he does that. Well against physicality personally but it would have been interesting to see if jamaica don that but they really didn't have enough of the boulter to trouble. That defense i thought robinson was excellent. Antony robinson yeah miles robinson to. He's so comfortable on the ball. Which i like a lot and i thought digest looked himself. Look more natural in that right back position. One other guy who we should mention yunus mussa Played a role in the build up of the first goal Did well tonight. I was really pleased with him. Second half like many players in that second half he really turned it on After that goal had a nice moment dribbling into the box almost was almost a penalty. He earned. I'm trying to remember exactly how that finished. But i think he had a shot as well e burst into the box. Yeah toward the goal. I after the first goal and had a shot at the keepers saved at the near post right into the side-netting can't quite remember but he had it. Andrew comfortable on the ball can receive on the half. Turn without getting clattered. Drives into space. Ball pulled progressions. I'd love to see this bald progression tonight where he carried it from one area into into a more attacking area. It's again a player who needs to really really push on own established himself fully at its top site. Yeah and and to revisit something that you had just said there. In terms of the way you know the fullbacks who was assigned. What position. And all that i do think in general i like the way they were set up tonight like i like thai. What tyler adams. Role was as kind of the deeper lying midfielder. It's the role that he's best suited for. I like mckinney and mussa being a little bit more further up The three the three in the front four in the back to me this. This is kinda what makes sense. I know different. Opponents will cause you to play different ways like all things being equal. this is sort of the formation that. I would prefer this team plan. I it just it works for me. Yeah i do i to thank all things being equal. Maybe on the occasional way trip to somewhere difficulty may not want to play that boss. I i do think. This is the formation that greg's himself andrew and I should say that mussa started the last. Two games i think for for the for valencia. So maybe Maybe me saying he needs to establish himself. Fully is a bit on fair but i think people know what i mean though like really push on the right. I what you're saying.

One other guy who we should mention yunus mussa Played a role in the build. Up of the first goal. Did well tonight. I was really pleased with him. Second half like many players in that second half he really turned it on After that goal had a nice moment dribbling into the box almost was it. Almost a penalty he earned. I'm trying to remember exactly how that finished. But i think he had a shot as well e burst into the box. Yeah toward the goal. I after the first goal and had a shot to keep her saved at the near post. That's right into the side-netting can't quite remember. But he had it. Andrew comfortable on the ball can receive on the half. Turn without getting clattered. Drives into space. Ball pulled progressions. I'd love to see this bald progression tonight where he carried it from one area into into a more attacking area. It's again a player who needs to really really push on and established himself fully at its top site. Yeah and and to revisit something that you had just said there. In terms of the way you know the fullbacks who was assigned. What position. And all that i do think in general i like the way they were set up tonight like i like what tyler adams role was as kind of the deeper lying midfielder. It's the role that he's best suited for. I like mckinney and mussa being a little bit more further up The three the three in the front four in the back of to me this.

Maybe outside of josh. Sergeant is the number nine. He probably doesn't scare you right now. Is the number nine. I know his situation could change. Maybe by the time we get off the air but that a team is very very scary. And i'm i'm shocked but also i'm happy that you somehow managed to do this without. Mls players you'd make a point of it let me Okay so let me just make a point for some of the gold cup guys that we've left out and kind of you've you've picked over them you got eunice moose over sebastian legit. You know who doesn't have unicef over. Sebastian berhalter yes because he had them both available for the nation's league final one of them played the other didn't correct. You got brian reynolds bro. With one cap over reggie. Canon again educated. A player that played in the nation's the final. Just let them and that you're stretching so hard to your layers over the gold cup players. Look you got jesse's artis behind p folk the other day on the show you said. Artists was guaranteed to make the world cup. You ready to say jordan. Fuck is guaranteed to make the world cup. You're asking me to put up a in bt. Can't put up two separate rosters with limitations of not using major league soccer players now per year logic. Hold on hold on. I'm not done onum. No go ahead go ahead. You got luca. Dilatory with three cats and jewelry three year. Julian green telling a cost up over kellyn ecology. Dan hold on different position concede in a player. He started the nation's league final. That's that's the best metric that we could hasso for one when it comes to the cost of doing this homework this little homework session. You provided cost. If tomorrow there was a flight to qatar would be honest and if tomorrow there was a flight to guitar in the world cup was going on with tyler adams. Would you say injury. Worries and fitness worries. Over the last couple of seasons he may be a de facto started. This is what i learned in that. You're absolutely right there when you go. The majority of these players thirteen of zero minutes on the senior national team team. Okay and a rosters comprise compiled a twenty three players. That's over half already. We don't have any national team experience. You want me to concede that this is not a c team. Do the law of averages yourself look at the eighty team you could probably sebastian legit. When all these european players are there. Maybe is coming off the bench maybe killing a cost. But is there a clear cut starter here by your by your own law of averages other teams that actually beat mexico. My final of that eleven players. I just gave you matt. Turner had how many cats before this tournament. Don't look at the final outcome sev- around those guys. I'm talking about legit. Ken and a cost don artists. Those are the guys that i'm talking about. The point here is that for you make it an eighteen. What are we doing here. Not of the eleven players half of them are arab players. That doesn't make it a c team. It may not be an eighteen at somewhere in between which is a be the bottom line. Here is the bottom line. Here is what westminster where you went to school. Donate shots at my college. I won't take shots at yours. Look the bottom line is that we're yes thank you. She did point of view of the bottom line here. Is we're arguing semantics. It's very very petty and small. The difference mutates seating if you're a mexico fan whether you're eighteen lost to a team or seating really shouldn't matter that much it's humiliating either way. It's a huge embarrassed from a fan perspective. So what. I'm curious as to know from you is. Why do you think this like struck. Such a core because i'm not on twitter as much as you still people. Usa in mexico fans going at it back and forth and my mentions right now twenty four hours more than twenty four hours after we were talking about. Let me give you a lesson for the longest time. The mexican fan base had the superiority over the american fan base because the nineties and before were owned by mexico then come to thousands and the us gets competitive not only competitive. They kick you out of a world cup thousand two and for the better part of almost two decades. They're competing with you. Then all of a sudden they don't make the world cup we're back but what happens the. Us's exporting players at this incredible rate and now they beat you in two finals in forty days and you're not exporting these players. It's going to sting because it's that devos's because major league soccer which they know. They think they shouldn't say they think they know lee is better than so. That's why it stinks. And it's one of those you'll never get back. Us will always be able to say just like the world cup and we said this before that we got one over on you and we got one over on you with our beat team which i will say my friends in the text chain. That's what they were saying to me. So i get it. I get it absolutely for sure before before we get to the next thing shouts to at. Usf thoughts on twitter. They did a great job with like a total depth. Chart of these players did and i think helped helped her quite a little bit with his with his homework. Not that in case you missed. This is actually something. We were trying to get to the lascaux but christian pulisic courses in pre season with chelsea. Where they're playing the spurs. most recently. He did a sit down interview with chelsea tv and interestingly enough in that interview he discussed mental health specifically his approach to his own mental health. Listening this this is a tough time for a lot of people. I think and just included. I think For me the most important thing is to just having a good support system and people around me that that i can always rely on and have a chat to Me personally living alone. Over here in europe You know it's it's tough being alone at times and having someone always there to talk to is Is is extremely important for me. And it's it's carrying carried me through this time. Her good message. Brave message from crave elicit brave. And it's empowering see this new generation of athletes simone biles christian pulisic landon..
