She added festival where he was performing but she was in the vip section. And it's like the way this has written about is very like we read some tweets and have to act like we did reporting fellow. Festivalgoers started to jump to conclusions after they spotted amber who won violent back in two thousand nineteen alongside irish rugby player. Greg o'shea watching storms. He performed during the lead section of the to city festival. That's the gophers have suggested. The pair could be dating. As the show's organizers traditionally only allow close context of performers to watch from the side of the stage. What's that's the only confirmation wait. They weren't spotted together. They weren't holding hands. They weren't smooching. She was really just watching his concert. From the section but lindsay festivalgoers have suggested the pair could be dating. You know what halfway through. Like i am starting to laugh now and i don't know if i'm just what these characters so much that i'm used to them and the things that annoy me aren't but i felt like it was just starting to get funnier. "Permanence and if you look if someone's ever like where is the actual sculpture can be like. Why are you attach. why are you attach to object. That's just you know. You gotta mendonca that shit you gotta like wipe it into the into the sea and this is almost like it doesn't already save you now. It exists in the space Forever says the video you do not see it but it exists. It is made of erin spirit. The sculpture has meant to activate the viewers imagination a power that the artist says no video exists within. Everyone and i guess we could just go on with this but this is a screenshot of the artists. This this is a person i admire. Yeah very crime. he has kind of. what's his name. you've richard hanson. Put together keith. Richards like keith richards. What's the library celebrity math on this. Richard meets what keeps richards meets. Richard gere navy needs a very tawny nice skin. Too and alan rickman thing for some reason. Maybe maybe ellen rickman. Some oh antonio mendez mendez rickman. You've got the tie in folded arms saying he doesn't have a tie on but that's of a congressional compose. yeah it's untied ties probably there. That's probably why right. Yeah that's spread. It exists in our imagination the energy to be transferred inches. According to eisenberg's uncertainty principle ties. Either either is or is not in his caller depending on whether remember how that works actually but I'm just one hundred percent for this like martin you've got you know. He got somebody to buy this so good for him. not verse. Were this that i want. I think we should start. I think we should have a one hundred dollar level sub stack membership. I'm going to say two hundred or one fifty. Maybe act fast because once we start offering this people are gonna outbid you. Why don't we have. Let's offer people a bid we're gonna make a useful idiot. Sculpture swish chuck off a piece of ground somewhere. Yeah yeah actually we we should. We should launch a new york denver. We're going to what we should do. Is you can purchase it and what here's why like. Why would we purchase yours when we could purchase that guys. And here's why it's going to be a lot more affordable and unlike his you know. Don't start out matt. We gotta start out that way or hook. People end. remember remember today. Today's show is really all about unintimidated. People we're gonna why would you buy ours. Not there's not his i mean. His subject is buddha in contemplation. I think we should pick a different subjects. Well of course. But i'm that one is is an insulation piece that you can't move. We're talking about our own so we're going do two okay. One is going to be one. You can purchase. What's good about ours is look. We got a lotta fans in new york city. The end have the space. So it's going to be one foot by one foot. That's all you need to dedicate to it and deportable when you're traveling. It's easy you when you check when you go through airport security. Just put it in a box. Yeah it fits in there. Yeah i mean frat be dell be careful i mean you gotta you can't like you gotta care has to be a carry on. You can't make can put it in the shoemaker loader. Obviously kurt loader kurt loader and said we're going to have to make it a lot well no we're going to do a stonehenge style. Kurt loader hendra i mean this is spinal tap so it's a it's a whatever he's probably six feet let's say so he's a six inches And it'll be kurt loader through the ages and what's cool about our sculpture and is that if you look at it from one angle it's kurt loader in a cave painting you look at it from another angle. It's kurt loader. In the trotsky photo from what she was disappeared right. Yeah so you. We are sculpture. Has an alexa feature where you get to say alexa. Put kurt loader. In wherever you want. I guarantee you. He will show up that way right. So kurt loader. In the reichstag in nineteen thirty six or whatever is right. Yeah or a guy. Wait kurt loader i. We just saw a major historic. Call mr look directa. Who sent meyer to it. It was kurt loader la kurt if you're i mean if you're out there you're always out there if you're watching. This could be time travelling right now so he may not be out there. If you're watching this when you watch this which could be in a million years but it's up it's on you to deny it and you guys. I think useful idiots fans. I want us to use the hashtag. Where were you kurt. is that good. What should we do like or maybe we look ahead to say then. German causeway barring hearing from him. I'm going to be forced to assume he was. Behind the reichstag fire right. And that's a heavy. That's a heavy thing to have and again if people on this is because we discovered. Kurt loader is like totally ageless. And we like the way he looked in when he was doing. Mtv stuff there. It just doesn't work his. He's too old somehow. He looks the same way that he looked bike. Twenty years ago and also he looks like a thousand times older. It's very weird. What happens should should it be like hashtag did it but in internment hashtag luder hottest stopped. Yeah what will oscar german-speaking. We need a weekly challenge for our viewers. So this week we want the german word. You know how germans have one word right so we need a couple of things and we need to german word for it. Looks like it appears like he. He did he he was behind the reichstag fire. Oh so it'd be like low. Loader guilt reichstag fire. Yeah right yeah. Let's let's we're going to sell them and give us ideas also and we'll commission an artist to maybe do. What do we wanna do it with our bare hands. We've probably showed right. we could. We could commissioner. An artist will commission a sculptor but we are the creators of it. I think it should be us. I think it's like you know. Yeah you're right. You're right if we're if we're gonna sell this for fifty thousand dollars more. We will be accepting lower bids start. That's up for discussion kidding. Talk about that after the show. But you know it'll be it'll have an important team. Yeah yeah in fact the of us who you think kneeling bud kneeling biden crouching biden croce encroaching. Bud and that. Yeah literally and that in fact we're going to have a discussion about that. That's an oh god. It should be called harris at the border harris. That oh right yeah. It'll be like a george washington valley forge type thing it because she hasn't been there which is why the way to use your imagination. Yeah exactly yeah. That's that's not weird. It's not weird now but also isn't that a very good business opportunity is going we'll have to. We're going to start selling those little squares little to yeah. What do we have risen that terrible terrible. We have a heartbreaking yet crying inspiring. One of those mixes a story from brazil. Brazilian wife cooks her husband's penis in frying in a frying pan after killing him in self defense and slicing it off when they argued. About splitting up. Diane christina rodriguez machado. Thirty three was arrested by police in south on silo. Her husband andre was found in the brazilian city. Lifeless naked and mutilated. I think we have an idea for one of her sculptures by the way officer said his wife cut off his penis and cooked it in soybean oil in a frying pan. The couple had been together for ten years and shared two children together. Officers were called to. The couple's house found the victim's lifeless naked and mutilated body hit. His wife had done it They believe it happened after the couple had argued about splitting up splitting Severing cutting it off. According to reports the cop sees a kitchen knife from the scene believed to be the ones to use to kill her husband with and subsequently dismember him. She's been charged with murder and corpse. Desecration you know how. I feel about a corpse. Desecration being criminalised. But we'll get to that later..

"Good chance. You are thought he mazing either way. I know he has a lot of love for his gay friends. And i will have a talk with him. Have a nice day. Bob richie so bob rich kid. Rock's real name. He's not a homophobe kid. Rock is always going to blast that bomb in a pussy at the same time calling everyone. Oh that's kid. Rock plan playing a little bit of chest there. Let's talk about it. This is my what he's doing is he's throwing biz. My persona. that says that word you know what this is about one hundred biden said nice to all my black friends. But i'm still gonna use the software or by. Edward was like i go into an alter ego what crack that's called hundred vote. Is this kind of tweeted. You let let you know that kid. Rock has no representatives overseeing. What's going on his twitter. That tweet would have done like a billion percent positives in the nineties. It would have been like. Yeah hell. yeah. I mean the guy that released bob with the by. He's still living at that mind. What right but there is no one albouy. Their reason it's important is the first double down. I think we've seen in the cancel culture era. i've never. We've never seen a double down like this. This is an insane double down to expect from kid rock. I didn't. I didn't expect this from anyone. I've never seen this before. A you can't cancel because kid rock in this case. He's a lot like a his. His fans aren't really they're not going to leave over this right if anything. This is gonna fire them up. So somewhere. morgan wallin's during the antonio mendez like there will be a kid rock concert very soon where he goes one to three and everyone goes yells the f. word that will happen at a kid. Rock cost all right. Let's move on number three guys. Cornell s spiro. She's the thirty one year old former beauty queen and former wife of chop el chapo guzman. She pled guilty to range of charges. Including conspiracy distribute illegal drugs and she could face life in prison when she's sentenced up to a ten million dollar fine. No sauce fine. Guzman's currently serving life in prison in colorado for drug trafficking money laundering. People care about that. I guess it was training heart number two inflation because she was like super guilty right like she was a big part of omega guilty. I mean that was a big deal that she was getting off or whatever well she was just. They didn't arrest her when she was at. When el chapo is on trial she was showing up as a supportive. Found the evidence that she was still running a business. She she was like Catherine zeta jones and traffic But didn't he like purposely kind of obscure her from any sort of. I don't remember traffic. He tried and then catherine zeta jones got in there as she does number. Two guys inflation. Everything is up right now except for fucking bitcoin. Lumber is up like two hundred fifty percent which according to some home magazine. Is that an estimated twenty four thousand dollars to a new home built. It's it's insane guys. It's in saying. I know people in the construction industry right now and basically. If you're getting a new house built for you like good luck trying to keep that price locked in with the price of lumber going up the way it is because like mid mid bill builders are having to like re cut deals recap at the sale of the home because the fucking prices up the three d. 'cause they don't use lumber that plastic good luck finding printer. That can do a house right now. That's true. I saw mean that said hacksaw. Jim duggan has just surpassed the million dollar man and wealth with four puzzling to me. And it's funny. You say that you know what's interesting is dante. He was one of the writers for barstool tweeted. He's involved in some sort of restaurant. He tweeted like you wouldn't believe guys but it was a picture of construction that he's working on. Steel beams are less expensive or equally expensive as wooden beams during construction. So i got into it a little bit and this has been a debate like you. Google would wouldn't be steel beam. There's like article article article about like which is better people can now guys we know. It's steel beam season. Yeah 'cause it's the same price same price but yeah let's get into because it's not just would stakes are up four point. Three percent head of america sticks us weekend couch is which are arguably the third most important purchase of adulthood in america are way up around. How would write. West is right. News cars which are also made of wood are thirty. That's fucking insane. The consumer price index showed the strongest year reading since two thousand eight. Remember what happened here. And so chris stereo kind of massage this into a screenplay a very complicated story and We'll talk a little bit later. I think about maybe the differences between real life and you know fiction but his first draft that he wrote grant has love said it was the best first draft he'd ever read and unfortunately neither he nor clooney had time to make it so it kind of just sat there warner brothers. "You know I'm dreaming of you deal with Egotistical. You know like cops and stuff. I have liked the ecosystem egotistical Dork. Who can't bowl three hundred story sound very i? I think with our friend at lovers lane all of our complaint sound exactly the same. It's nothing until you see the nerdy like middle class. White Guy threw a bowling ruling ball through a ceiling tile. Sometimes fantasy could just be that I get time later tonight to get that booty call happening. Yeah yeah that's part of it like I have my clients look look for really small moments of fantasy because they they tell me the same thing and they're like I don't do that I don't fantasize then I'm like look for real small glimpses. Well split split second glimpses of something and it might be. I hope I get off in time so I can respond to this booty call and get home by one time and sometimes that's totally what it is. It's like I get a text message. It work and I'm like yes. Please view my bed when I get their fantasy. That's enough you know for something like it just has to be like. Give me out to work on time or I hope that you know this is is all wrapped up so I can go do this or here because like her me. Fantasy is just. It's a nonstarter. Most of the time I would think like you talked about sex toys so we've got that somebody I just I'm like I don't know why we need this stuff. She likes it. I'm like okay. Whatever but like fancy dress up and change pretend to be someone else would meet me at the bar and pretend not to know me? Pick me to me. I'm going none of this. Is Real so like even though I did a lot of theater like I love playing other people in front of people. Fantasy in terms of sex is a total almost total non starter for so it's interesting to hear your perspective on that because when I think fantasy uh-huh like pretending to be someone else rocking Antonio Mendez accent though sometimes works. "You're you're excited. That Agigea Rabbit was nominated for best picture. I actually think it should have been nominated for best director and Best Picture. Are you upset that takeaway t t is not getting credit here. I wouldn't say I'm upset necessarily because it is a category where you have have the nominations for best picture. So someone's got to. You know get snubbed. But I would much prefer That take ahead the nomination that Todd Phillips God for everybody's throwing taught off the boat you know they were on the lifeboat and we're trying to get the shore and it's too heavy. Who Do we throw off odd Phillips? Yeah it's a pretty easy quick answer And Yeah I just think I think we'll take okay. Did is so much more impressive than what. Ty Phillips did with jokers since type Phillips mostly just copied camp comedy and put joker in it and took a had a much much more challenging Film to make by delicately balancing satire and hard hitting drama During wartimes. And he did. It may never certainly emily and he even started it as a goofy imaginary version of Hayler so seems like a win to me. Yeah in one film isn't here and isn't on anywhere anywhere. Actually is a film that I know Ben was champion each like this portrait of a lady on fire. Yeah I absolutely love this film and It got completely shut out of the Oscars which is again just absolutely enraging because this is one of the most beautiful and one of the best of the year Selene Gamma should have gotten a nomination for best director. She should have been in the in the intoxicated at least But particularly on fire kind of had its chances stacked against it because France Manson nominated for. It's a best international film contender. It said nominated Les MIS A lab and portrait on fire. It's unfortunately just Hasn't really been given the awards campaign that parasite has like they're both under neon neon kind of Fully Double Down on parasite Deservedly so but it's sad that fortunately on fire just kind of got left to the wayside because of that and essentially just got the shutout of everything including best director actor but as costumes mottaki everything. It's beautiful beautiful film And really just a big shame. I don't know oh how much the people listening to this. podcast know about how these award campaigns are run. I I assume that everybody's in our same bubble but it's probably not the case hates You mentioned you know award campaigns and it should be mentioned that to win an Oscar or any of these awards for that matter. You really need to there needs to be some money thrown at I. It's almost like marketing. The movie like there. Is You know events that are held around Hollywood. They're like two smooth and get people excited about champing. Certain film there are like in in Hollywood. You drive down the street and there's like billboard campaigns campaigns for for your consideration and stuff there's marketing like in. You know all the magazines and you can go to like IMDB. There's like four your consideration ads since like that. So so it's it's very tough when a distributor or studio isn't positioning a film for for awards. Because you're ah you're kind of at a disadvantage not to say that hasn't happened but you can't fully blame neon either because they are smaller distributor but so they had to put all their cards in one film. But it's just a it's a real shame. Okay let's talk about Best actor we have Intent in Tonio Bend Eras for painting. Glory Leonardo Dicaprio for once upon a time in Hollywood Adam driver for marriage story Joaquin Phoenix for joker in Jonathan Pryce for the two popes. Whoa what's funny? Averge out of the dress the two popes coming in at the last minute and taking a bunch of nominations like it was the same with Golden Globes who I haven't seen the the two popes yet but It's a I remember wondered Covering this morning Chris was particularly angry. That Jonathan Pryce came in and took Deniro's spot for the Irish. Then yeah for sure Eating they're eating Oscar. Nominations like pizza. This is one category. I think even you guys that you know you didn't you have a distaste. For Joker you have to admit Joaquin. Phoenix earned his place on this. This I dislike right. Yeah I I would argue that this and the score or the two Oscars that it actually deserved to be nominated for. Yeah yeah that's the one this is the one nomination that I'm okay with joker. Having 'cause walking beans I think is one of the best actors of the generation. Although I do think he should have gotten this award buzz for his role in. You're never really here. Basically saying the same thing. But I'm fine with this nomination. There's a couple comedic actors Who who were kind of snubbed? Here Brad Do you are you upset that Eddie Murphy did not make it. I'm not quite as upset about Eddie Murphy now making. I think that dilemma is my name is fantastic career comeback for him. It's easily the best movie he's made In in at least a decade if not more it's an outstanding performance but ah it's also not surprising because the Kademi typically doesn't recognize a lot of comedic performances. It is extremely rare. Consider comedy to be on the same plane of existence existence as drama which is ridiculous to be. Comedy is equally as hard as drama. If not more so because of how sensitive sensitive humor and proclivities are in that way But I would have painted that. The movie might have gotten a little bit more attention simply because it is about the power of filmmaking and kind of tips tipped attend into what the Academy Kademi usually does like in those kinds of movies. But they're just to any other Powerful dramatic performances. It seemed Unfortunately it's also not about old white people so that is true unfortunately one of those other performances That was a dramatic one. That didn't make it because of Jonathan Price in the two. Popes was Adam Sandler for uncut gems. And that's a real disappointment because man he this performance if his was fantastic i. It's probably the best of his career so far He had tons of awards going into this and he was so excited about it he even started wearing not sweat pants and shorts to event sorta wearing stupid stuff like that And Yeah so is a real bummer. That he didn't he didn't get nominated But I guess to kind of Save the day he he did have an a a really Museum cute tweet about referencing waterboy because being excited that his Mama Kathy Bates got an Oscar nomination and she had a really funny response to him as well. Yeah that was funny. I saw that Another I guess for this category like if we're in the lifeboat I guess the two popes Jonathan prices. We're getting thrown overboard. I Guess Yeah Yeah. I know you wanted rocket man for this category. Yeah this is a nomination. That is a real absence because of how Taryn Edgerton really represented at the Golden Globes. He was campaigning so so hard during this past year for his role in rocket man. And it's a big slight especially after last year. Romney Malik one for his role in Bohemian. rhapsody doing basically the same thing but in a lesser movie and with a lesser performance. I I think you could argue because tearing. Each attendance does so much such as Elton John in rocket man. He does all of his own singing and he does. More than just a give an impression of the character he's embodying and But you know now you know the Oscars they just love their impressions and their prosthetics. So it's probably why he didn't get the nomination but I just wanted to give it got it to him. Because it's funny to me that Rummy Malik one for a role just last year that tyranny juiston Did so much better at with rocket man though so do we just assume that that walking Phoenix has this or is there possible upset now. It sounds like there's no yeah. I think it's walking. I do want to give a shout though to Antonio Mendez who I'm so happy got a nomination for painting glory. He just gives a career best performance in this film. So Hurt and painful and regretful. And it's all very Quietly done and But you know I I'm okay with Joaquin. The joker has saw so much louder. Performance as the ones that the Oscars like to reward. Okay Best Actress. We have Cynthia. A reveal. A reveal. revile sorry yeah revox For Harriet we have Scarlett Johansson for marriage story we have sear show Ronin running for little women we have Charlie's therein for bomb show. And we have Renee Zellweger for Judy. So I guess Who What what is the? What are the big snubs here? Brad Well the Pitney Ongo For us both our collective group and for the movie She she she gives An incredible performance Jordan peels movie Mostly because she delivers two extremely different performances she puts on this extremely Croaky and creepy voice to play read Who is one of the tethered? And it's it's editor voice but it's her facial expressions and her her physical. It's just the way she moves. It's all very unsettling and scary. And then she plays the the wreck of the family gets terrorized and I says well and and there's a certain nuance that performance based on the twist of the movie an email. It's been awhile since it was released. I won't say it here just in case there's some people who haven't seen yet and might see it now for whatever reason But because of that I think that this performance especially deserves a nomination and it's really disappointing that she didn't get one in us as a film was completely snubbed. Which is insane? I didn't even get a screenplay nomination or anything like that. which which is Upsetting but but the movie did come back in in February and granted. The same thing happened with get out but sometimes movies get released that early often Don't get it's not notice by the academy I think it should also be noted that The one actors of color nominated for best actress. Cynthia revolt for Harriet. And a lot of people have been talking on twitter about how The Academy likes to award black actors actresses for films that generally we are you know slave rolls or something that is kind of what's expected of like black actors but luke young gives such a dynamic and compelling performance performance in a film where she's not. It's from black directors filmmakers and black actors and it's something that takes a breaks that status quo now that we've often see if what you know are are considered award worthy in black performances. And while Cynthia revote is good in Harriet which is a nod. aww Great Movie I really think that like the the black performance of the year that like Lupita is Putin Yongbo gifts like such a great challenging performance and yet it's it seems like the award is in theory to just felt like that diversity. We have to get a person of color in in here. We'll give it to the one role of a slave and it just feels so demeaning in that in that regard the other snub here in everything the farewell yeah. This is a huge snubs. The farewell completely shut out. We talked before about how to get a best picture. Nomination Luang also a fantastic director could have broken up the sausage fest. Monotony of Director of the best director category didn't get a nod Knows original no screenplay nod either which is baffling because it's fantastic screenplay based off of Lulu Wong's own life and Aquafina who won Golden.

We have to get a person of color in in here..

Great staff great stuff shadow to two time big picture alumni Ryan Johnson knives out not as much love as maybe we thought it might get. It did not not get recognized for best picture which you predicted on this was your wildcard was not that it would not be recognized. My I predicted that it would be nominated and my wildcard card but that it would not be nominee correct. Well done by you thank you Greta. GERWIG now has three Oscar nominations. She does not have to best director nominations but she does have three Oscar Oscar nominations at a very young age which is very impressive and very uncommon for a woman again. I do not want to overlook what seems like progress isn't enough progress. No it's never enough progress in the world but this is a good thing she will get over the mountain. I'm quite sure of at the academy. Loves her he thinks he can win. I don't know I don't have a good feel for the adapted screenplay category although I did correctly predict the five nominees. Congratulations thank you. How did you get right by the way sixty five? Oh did we manage being equitable world. Men and women on podcasts. Let me just say AD. Astra is an Oscar nominee for sound editing. This is this is exactly. Why do not predict sound editing on this podcast? Because I don't know where this came from. I think the sound of net astros wonderful. I don't know if that's like the number one thing that occurred to me as I watched it. But Hey James Gray ad Astra well done floors pugh. Yes I believe my note here says Fuck yes nominated for best supporting actress for little women. She of course is is is she. Is She my number one right now. She my favorite. Only you can decide that. Yeah let me let me let me think we'll come back to it. I'm pretty excited about this one. This is good obviously you. You've talked at length about what's great about her performance on our little women. PODCAST tremendous staff. I also have to say in terms of there's a lot of little women Promo content ten in my instagram. Feed right now. In my explore tab watch one video and then suddenly it's just every single junket that they've done together and they're all very good but Florence view really really shining in in those in those junkets. She can just turn a very awkward question into a three minutes. Three minutes soliloquy about snails and you're just like what's happening verve but also also I will keep watching this huge fan of hers. Yeah honey lane two nominations. There we go has has has more nominations than Ad Astra. Yeah yeah honey. Lane has two two two more nominations than the farewell. Yes pretty pretty. Weird is nominated. International feature. Best Documentary is a good movie Sherry. Sorry I have no problem with it is from North Macedonia This has never happened before. This is the first time that a movie has been nominated in both international feature and best documentary what that portends for its chances in either category. I don't know I suspect it's going to get blown off the Board Patterson best international feature but maybe this indicates a lot of support and a lot more people will see it in best documentary. We'll have to wait and see I'm standing with you was nominated for best original song. This was from the film breakthrough. Have you seen breakthrough I have. I have not on either I forgot about this but this is written by Diane. I I did too and I was like I. This is very stupid as soon as I saw. Dan were and I was like. Oh of course I got nominated. What was I thinking? This is Diane Warren's Eleventh Oscar nomination and this is the fifth in the past six years so we made a grave error that being said if you and I had both realized the Diane Warren Warren was going to be nominated in this category. I'm not sure that the the song I would have eliminated would have been spirit by beyond say but we will get to that. Climate Scarlett Johansson has joined the the two time Oscar nominee in the same year club. which you predicted I did predict us? And you know I'm not really mad about it. I know that Scarlett Johansson is a figure figure of some some some ill repute amongst amongst the literati in the world but I I think her performances in both of these movies is quite good and it's interesting to see the names that she joins here in this in this group It's there's only been ten people in the history of the Oscars who've been nominated twice in the in two different categories in the same year fainter for in Nineteen Thirty Eight Teresa Wright in nineteen forty two Barry Fitzgerald in nineteen forty four than Jessica Lang all the way in Nineteen eighty-two Al Pacino in Nineteen ninety-two Emma Thompson Holly Hunter Enter in Nineteen ninety-three. Same Year Julianne Moore in two thousand and two Jamie Fox in two thousand and four in Cate Blanchett in two thousand and seven. Almost all of these people I think. Seven seven of the ten won an Oscar in one of the two categories. Do you think Scarlett Johansson win an Oscar. I don't said well a bit. You never know guess but I kind of we'll talk more about best actress but if there is an upset there. I don't foresee it being Scarlett Johansson intriguing coming forward to your takes talk snubs Yup. It's time I'll tell you what I did not see Jennifer Lopez not getting a nomination. And I don't know if I was foolish or the academy is foolish or both. Someone noted on twitter this morning that the academy does not like pop culture which I thought was an interesting way of describing a handful of the quote unquote snubs this morning. What do you think about Djalo? Not being there for Ostler's this is just a real. You blew it situation and do whatever you want. But they have for ninety one years and counting or ninety two. I suppose I think that this is just not fun. It just displays a real lack of imagination and is probably when you put all this knobs apps together there is a certain strain of taste that is not represented at the in the academy and at pop culture is one way of putting it and I find is another way of putting it Stories involving women is a third way of putting it but unfortunately Jennifer Lopez hits. All all three of those I just kind of find it baffling. This is one of the only snubs where they kind of had to go out of their way in order to not include her and a lot. If these a lot of these nominations to me feel like the result of there was a it was a very compressed Oscar season. There wasn't that much time people just kind of scrambling and checking boxes. Fox's and relying a bid on Hannah Traditional Oscar narratives and taste and so easy to check Jennifer Lopez box because she's been nominated for literally everything else so people had to really want to say no to Jennifer Lopez and they can live in that world and I'm living in mind. Yeah I would say. It appears that it's Kathy Bates really who took her spot. Presume spot that. She was going to have Kathy Bates. Obviously a great actress actress. I think she gives a great performance in Richard Jewel. She already has an Oscar. I guess the support for her was deeper than pretty much. Anybody I could see. I guess a handful of pundits. It's had this pick but almost no one didn't have general Ed Jennifer Lopez on the outside looking in. I think that there's just a lack of respect for her. That's that's really all all that is they. They see her as a celebrity and not as an actress. And this confirms that to me in many ways. Not that Hustler's is the seventh seal. It's not the most important film that's ever been made or anything like that but it's an entertaining movie. That did great business. A lot of people saw it in a lot of people loved it. There is a there is a high of certainly of hustlers admiration. And I'm sure that there is some kind of ingrained bias happening here about stories about women about a woman of color about a celebrity. Who is a sort of multi hyphen it? You know who who is a singer and as an instagram influencers and is married to or soon to be married to a professional athlete. And all these things I think somehow coalesce to work against her in some way. It's unfortunate unfortunate. Do you think anyone in the academy knows who Fiona Apple is like. Do you think the even the family any living human. I mean I'm just I'm asking the question I we can find one or two. I'm wondering whether the her entrance even hits with the academy and the same way that it has just because it's different reference points. Yeah I think if we did this voting in five years it would taste a little different. You know it's it's also a recent period piece and recent period pieces are not going to play as well to sixty somethings and the academy nevertheless or less. So here's a whole bundle of snubs for us to break down so obviously hustlers does not been recognized here but other films that were not recognized that all that have been running all throughout the season season. DOLEMITE is my name. Nothing not even Ruth Carter for best costume design the Farewell Baucus rocket men crashed down. Uncut gems completely shut out. I can't say that I'm stunned by this. But it feels very very purposeful feels very designed. Does this feel purposeful or does is this feel like kind of unconscious biases and taste made more apparent by Rushdie award season. And don't buy the option of if you have the Irishman and you have nineteen seventeen that kind of a it's a scorsese mobster affleck and a an epic war or film. I think there's usually only one spot for movies like this. Maybe two and I just think parasite eight the conversation. I think parasite eight the conversation in almost every category here. I think get overwhelmed. Movies like the farewell it over one like gems even even overwhelmed. Movies like Dolemite my name. which had significantly more star power and the mega net flicks machine behind it couldn't and conjure? Any love. Notable here is just one nomination for twenty four all throughout this whole thing and the nomination that got was yarn blache key for the Lighthouse House. Yeah which is did pick that which is just insane the why. Why because you know people like showy black and white it's real real.

"C the AL victor's Justice medication never from happen. Fittings big thinks Daniel working dials. And Vic thanks to offer tuning in. We really do. Appreciate it. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter at dodger Dahlia an on Facebook, the doctor w show. How many of you guys are Argo was fantastic Louis. I was on the edge of my seat. I thought Argo was fantastic. I think I think he's a good actor. I mean, not my favorite that man to be honest. I think George Clooney was my favorite. I know I know, but I think that athletes had a pretty good job. Well, the gentleman he was playing in Argo the officer. Antonio Mendez has died. Officer who has been credited before. Rescuing those six US diplomats from Iran back in nineteen eighty fairly has passed at the age of seventy eight from complications of Parkinson's. He went by Tony Tony vendors had joined the CIA back in nineteen sixty five fairly he became a master of disguises forgeries rescues and so they used him. He was a master at being able to help the CIA do a lot of what they need. It's deal. And then as you guys remember in the late seventies. There was the Iranian revolution. And in one thousand nine hundred seventy nine I believe it was nine thousand nine hundred seventy eight at the end of seventy eight protesters have stormed the US embassy that was holding a sixty six embassy staffers. And so they held them hostage. Six were able to escape to to Canadian diplomats the homes of two Canadian diplomats. I know in the movie, it only showed the one the guy from Titanic that guy from Titanic. I really liked that actor who he is. But yeah, he's the one that built the ship Titanic. And then he's also the one that, you know, housed, you know, the people at Argo I like the guy anyway, they couldn't leave the country and now put the Canadian diplomats at risk and so- Mendez clock was ticking. So he was able to disguise them as a Canadian film crew and smuggle them out. And then when president Ronald Reagan, oh, actually, actually think this happened in nine hundred seventy nine he got about a nineteen eighty and then after four hundred forty four days the hostages were released on president Ronald Reagan's inauguration. So that was an eighty one so Mendez was with the CIA one thousand nine hundred then he wrote memoirs of his experiences, and he wrote and co authored books I want to read them. I this guy was just so gifted. But apparently he was diagnosed with Parkinson's ten years ago. And a statement from his agent and his family reported that he passed having lived in an assisted living facility in Maryland. Visit early this morning. Mendez finally succumbed to Parkinson's that had been diagnosed with ten plus years ago. He was to with from his family will be sorely missed. Excuse me. The statement read the last thing he and his wife Jonna Mendez did was get their new book to the publisher. And he died feeling had completed writing the stories that he had want to be told. Ben Affleck had tweeted, Tony Mendez is true American hero. He was a man of extraordinary, grace, decency, Himalayan kindness. He never sought the spotlight for spotlight for his actions. He merely sought to serve his country is proud to have worked for him and to have told one of his stories RIP, Tony Mendez. So then this brings the question what is Parkinson's? And why is it this deadly aid? And especially in this day and age so you had some true seventy eight it's a good life, but still considered young men are living till they're ninety somebody like, Tony you would think would have lived longer. So why did Parkinson's caused him to succumb so Parkinson's as you guys know is a very very common neuro degenerative disorder. It comes number two for next Alzheimer's. So Alzheimer's is the most common thing comes Parkinson's, and it is the most common movement disorder, Alzheimer's, more affects your memory and cognitive function. Parkinson's affects the way you move the way you could walk etc. And they say one percent of the world's population over sixty years old has it. And in the US sixty thousand new cases are diagnosed each year, maybe even more since this has been written it affects several areas of the brain merely the substantial Niagara now, the substantial Niagara helps affect balance produces dopamine, and so substantial Niagara involvement can be pretty detrimental. Now Parkinson's comes from James Parkinson, James partisan got this degree this disease named after him because he described it back in eighteen seventeen as a shaking palsy. So somebody may have Parkinson's if they have a shake a tremor and the Trevor looks like the rolling a pill. Or looks like they're moving their hand. Or like, they're shaking a. What do you shake before you not shaking up and down? But you swish it back and forth. It's that sort of a movement of back and forth tremor, also people with Parkinson's could very stiff rigid they have poor balance. Obviously because they're so stiff and rigid. They move slow. They sometimes can't move and they'll shuffle their steps and walk pretty shuffled. And and and cautiously because they don't wanna fall and another thing another early side of Parkinson's as they can do straight face. Really? Well, so you'll have a family member that cracks a joke. But his face a straight. He doesn't smile when he does it. And he's hilarious. You will cost, you know, grandpa. I don't remember you being that funny. He could be getting Parkinson's. You know, how you know, dad jokes? We need to talk about dad jokes. Dad jokes are a problem. Okay. I I don't understand dad jokes. They just aren't funny. I don't I don't get that jokes. Just don't make sense. And it's funny because my friends who are older in between the dad grandpa age when they make a joke. It's like, okay. Funny, now, mommy's lobbies, just don't crack. Joke. Whatever even though I think we are pretty funny. I'm funny. But as a mommy, I've not very. Okay. I I you know, these are supposed to be like quit laughing and do your shorts. Okay. That that's how mommy's are supposed to be. And so, you know, dad's make these jokes, and they kind of suck. We we. We really need to teach them how to do better jokes. I think what it is is. They did the same joke over and over again. But also daddy's make a face. You know, my dad, I love my daddy wasn't very demonstrative, you know, especially he didn't really make a lot of facial expressions. But when he made a joke, he would be like, you know, doing this dopey look like, you know, like helping the delivery I go dad, not only was the jokes stupid. But the Leverett says. My dad's cigarette. But I would I would do that was funny. Yeah. You do a weird Topi? Look people partisans won't that makes it funnier. You're not trying to be funny. That's when you're the funniest so with Parkinson's you could always gets depression anxiety memory loss. Constipation decreased ability to smell difficulty swallowing, which is why many of them end up in assisted living facilities because they can't swallow. Many may have erectile dysfunction. They can get pneumonia. Why? Well, you're not moving a lot. You're not taking big breasts. You're not exercising. You not spewing out stuff that could land at your lungs. So it has time to fester because you have low balance balancing could fall fracture yourself have loosens delusions dementia. And so who gets Parkinson's? Well, we don't know, you know, it could be jeans. Maybe there's some environmental issue. We don't know what we do know is people who smoke seemed to be less likely to get Parkinson's. Not that we want you to start smoking by any means some people can't get Parkinson's before the age of fifty Michael J, FOX. I think got it in his twenties and thirties. So there is juvenile onset Parkinson's before the age of twenty there's early onset before the fifty.

"Precipitation. And now you have it looking forward to the weekend at least Saturday, mostly cloudy, twenty seven degrees. So it's not not varying a great deal seems kinda seasonable to me, I'm excited did get a new coat new. I'll tell you about we talked about it before. And I got some suggestions from you. I'll tell you what I got. But in the meantime, we have Charles. Hello, charles. You're saying we were talking about mayor Walsh's speech, and you're super interesting. I'm glad you called. And how you do things about diversity, which was mentioned a lot in his speech. One. Was that you feel that? Diversity is really pushing LGBTQ and Hispanic people rather than. General general ethnic. Yeah. Melting pot. For example, when I we just had the story about Kanye. I've met a lot of different people from Africa to no one really talks about African people who've come here emigrated become citizens that I've talked to several who took years and have to go back and forth to American embassies in order to migrate and all that. But no one seems really care about anything else. But. By the way, just to show that I'm not an Anglo. My one of my great grandfather's was named Jose Antonio Mendez. So I'd have Spanish and blood. But it seems as if the emphasis is toward Hispanic Americans and lot to they'll be to community as opposed to the populace in general told you I've had cancer for nine years, and I've been going to Mass General hospital, and if there is a microcosm in Boston that should serve as a model for the whole country. It's mass journal you to diversity with people of all different, ethnicities, religions and such. All working together for a single purpose in order to help others. And I'll tell you Peter Slaven who I guess is the president deserves and his staff. I don't know if they put people to finishing school or whatever. But everybody works in concert for the betterment of society. What was the second fat the diversity factor? You mentioned I mentioned I mentioned to which is fine. I I don't I'm not saying anything about any group. Okay. Specifically what I'm saying is the it seemed like the intention and probably maybe not Marty Walsh. I'm not sure but the encounter on a lot of the progressive levels is towards this towards these two groups in my opinion. What do you see that? Makes you say that what are you slow? I think the majority of every everything in its oriented on TV. And then the news media there's enough for example, we have about I'm not sure if this. Another twelve percent African American. I believe perhaps eighteen percent. There's about twelve percent spam. So of course, now, we have the people from south western from who would like, I'm sure a lot of people feel they've been cheated out of their land because California and New Mexico and all the other south western border states were lost to us at one point. They might have been but I see a real ambivalence. Among people of Spanish heritage to really. Simulate as opposed to like, I said, I'm Gary Armenians all sorts of people great with away. Millions polls. They all eventually got together. Learn with each other many of them became friends and intermarried, but that seems to be reluctant. Let me ask you this. We have people from Africa coming here, we people consultee stage Alava places when you call up somewhere. Why is it only Spanish that they Wang which isn't that kind of paternalistic? It seems to be saying that of all the different ethnicities in this country. The only people we have to make an accommodation for people who of Hispanic heritage because we deem them not to be able to assimilate while I'm not even though all these other hundreds of ethnicity have good question. I always assumed that it was because the numbers were such that they were the largest group of people that might need language. Assistance. But why is it that people in other countries who I have friends and Japan and France, I'm little bit. They come to this country to visit and many of them are about lingual their fluent in English because English was considered sort of like the Greek or Latin of our time right now eventually it might be Chinese. But the point is the lingua franca of the world at this point is still English and your people who've lived here for one two three generations. And they seem to really rework. They don't want to. I mean, I've noticed that as I said, I'm part Spanish myself. But I don't understand it the Portuguese, for example. I've done totally different Portuguese. Simulate very well. For the most part. Here's my theory, a potential theory on that is that there are so many Hispanic folks coming over at once that they they can live in communities, which haven't had a chance to assimilate. They can they're big enough. So many coming over that unassimilated communities are large enough that they can exist without learning English in there. Agree with you. But let let's Chinese. I noticed when I go to Chinatown. Yeah. Same thing. Well, I used to go to Chinatown myself because I used to be in March tomorrow lots and I also used to go to the Chinese centers. And yeah, they were older people. I'm talking about people in the sixties and seventies who may have been recent immigrants, but the point is if you go back to the time prior to television. Okay. It was a harder problem. Sometimes they have international institutes which allowed you to go in at night and take courses in English, and whatever. But now, you don't need that. All you have to do is watch television. You can pick it up by osmosis almost in. If people don't do it. Well, you know, I'm on the same team as you when it comes to that. I kind of am a culture border language person. Even though I'm not that extreme right wing. Yeah. I do believe that a common culture is important. I don't want everybody to be generic Homa genyk. No. But I think that a language is is important common bond. Everybody's on the same team pulling together same with the Concer. Learn the culture, and and be part of the concert and learn the language and et cetera. And that's one of the reasons that while I one of the reasons I believe in a more secure borders is so that people can come in. And at a rate in which they can assimilate better. Well, can I just mentioned one more thing here in the low? Of course, we were. I'm sure you've been here at one. We have multitude even before a lot of the newer immigrants. We had probably twenty thirty forty different types of groups here. But the thing is people have their own not only their own church is their own schools their own civic and social clubs. I know the Portuguese had two or three civil and social clubs the Greeks had several others in the point is they were problem with their heritage. They, but they weren't let me put it this way. They didn't have to choose one over the other Americans who assimilated very, well and became very powerful in some respect. But they still they still respected in ensured their cultural diversity this says one precludes the other right? And I remember living in Newmarket New Hampshire. They had the polish American club. Which is also very cool. Sure. Charles you. You're a really good caller. And I wish you. I'm sad. You haven't really caught me mice before? And I hope now that you call it a lot. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to have to command you to call. I was going to say one of my other things that I do get involved. You know is the the the deep state Kennedy assassination. One of these guys. I've been studying it since the day it happened. Okay. I know a lot of the people around the country who were considered respectable and not the not the crazy people. Then there were a lot of crazy people in that area, but David Talbot who was the founder of salon dot com and Jefferson Morley who was a journalist for the Washington Post both said that on the twenty-first of this month, which was I guess Martin Luther King day or the day before there's some sort of a major announcement regarding a blue ribbon group of sixty or eighty prominent Americans that are asking for a reopening of the Kennedy and king assassinations, or at least some other things. So I'm waiting to see I don't know exactly what it's going to be. But they both both. Both well respected people who've done some really good research. Do you are you able to get out at all? Because if you haven't I bet you'd love to get down to the Memphis. Well, I I mean, Mike and Mike and walk around. But I mean, I'm a little sweat. We disabled that should have had like a hundred and five chemotherapy treatments over nine years. And so, you know, I I won't kill topnotch all the time. But know, I'm pretty active otherwise so you've been living, and I'll just take doom has been living with cancer for nine years. Your head. We're screwed on real straight. Did it take a long time to get that way? Who you are how difficult or the chemo's tell me about I gave myself twenty four hours to mourn and apparatus should weigh. My wasting my time, I'm a person of faith. I'm not the most, you know, the best person in the world. But you know, I believe in that. And I was given a lot of I think I was brought up by my mother and father. They were both very compassionate people. Both political activists always looking to injustice in the world. And I think all of that help me, and this may be private you can say, I don't want to talk about that. But nine years of chemotherapy nine years of cancer treatment that's got to be expensive. I mean, do you have a huge amount of debt does. Thing is part of it is taken care of obviously by social security and Medicare, and the thing is I had some actually if I had had the last ten years of my employment. If I had a sufficient insurance, which I had most of the time in my wife, they probably could have picked it up a little bit earlier, and I might not have had to go through it. But I'll tell you in the long run able to handle pretty well. Chemo hasn't been devastating for me list past year, I didn't radiation and chemo together. And I feel ninety percent of the time. I feel bird. Goodman jazz. Thank you very much. Thank you. Yep. I I like Charles because more weight event, Charlie you are Jay talking. I'd like to hear more about how you feel regarding the speech, given by mayor Martin j waltz I loved it. I thought he really stepped it up. I like our Asian. I went to college. When I went to college in the first few years of months, actually, you kind of spinning your wheels. You don't know what you wanna do maybe? And then I heard of this course, called argumentation one had to be a communications major ticket. So I became a communications major, and it was about when they cut when they say argumentation, they really mean origin, and it was about how the the greats your Cicero peop-, folks. Like that. How they would be able to stand up and actually convince people and change the behavior with spectacular speeches. Now, we don't have any. We just have. Really crummy or artists. It's just terrible. And they're not really able to convince anybody of anything a real good order can grab you by the brain. And convince you or something. And I came to love that. And so when I when I hear a speech like Martin j Walsh's, especially. Having heard early speeches. I'm really proud of him. I think it's really important thing. So we'll talk to Jenny and we'll talk to rob. And maybe you it's six hundred seven two five four ten thirty after this on busy..
