"It subconsciously when a man has learned from his father subconsciously, he's more bold, he's more courageous. The guidance and the critique from your dad is different than your mama. And people don't understand that until you get soft, weak, feckless leaders like LeBron James versus Michael Jordan. It's a difference. And the difference because basketball skills because I would argue that LeBron James is very skillful. I mean, he's bigger. He's probably more I don't know if he's more athletic, but he's bigger. He's definitely stronger. He definitely, he came out of high school. I mean, the kid was killing it in high school. He could have played an NFL. So talented wiseman LeBron James is very competitive with Michael Jordan on a talent level. But right here, because he was raised without masculinity in his house, and now he's a follower. And I can say more stuff about him, but I don't want to beat him up too bad. I'm Antonio guy about relief factor for quite some time, and truth is, I know millions of people are in fact 100 million people are in some kind of paid look producer Andrew who can walk. "Needs help. But instead of keeping him on house arrest after the rape, they sent him to another loudon county school where he did it again. And just let breaking a couple days ago in loudon county a loudon county official has now resigned from the school board. In loudon county, one of the school board members who was intimately involved all this, resigned, last named Bart, it says here in a local story loudon now, school board member Beth bartz tendered her resignation. Effective November 2nd, including the turmoil in an attempt to remove her from office after the sexual assault scandal, and it is a scandal. She said this is not an easy decision, or one made in haste after much thought and careful consideration. It's the right decision for me and my family. You must investigate her. I bet she knew all about this. I bet she was the one that was arranging for this man who thought he was a woman who was criminally and serially raping girls in loudoun county schools to be transferred. But I could tell you last night I've never seen such incredible intensity such energy and commitment from just normal people that were never involved in politics as I saw yesterday in loudoun county Virginia. What I saw in loudoun county Virginia at the church event and our private gatherings, we did a pastor's round table. We did all sorts of things. Was regular moms and dads, people that had never been involved. In any of these fights before saying, I don't care what you take from me, are children, are the line you will not cross. And for all of you listening across the country. I want you to hear this very clearly. You need to rise up like the loudon county parents did as well. These people are heroes. And what's so amazing is I ask them privately, I said, well, haven't you paid a price for this? They said, of course we have. We've lost all of our friends, but we've made new ones. Our kids have been singled out blacklisted, but they don't care. We are fighting and contestant for truth. We are now a new type of activist, the more they throw at us the stronger we become. I sought firsthand everybody in loudoun county, Virginia. Now this is actually leading nicely into the Virginia governor's race, and that's where I want to lead this. I asked them I said, do you think that youngin can beat mcauliffe in the Virginia governor's race ever since, oh yes. Loudon county would traditionally be a heavily Democrat county, it's now closer to a 50 50 county and I said, what's the number one issue they said to schools? People move into loud and county for schools, people move into here for good schools and they are seeing the betrayal the deceit the treachery the arrogance from the loudon county school district the radicalism and the alt the the outright attack and onslaught. Against parents and loud and county because of that, Democrats are on the run. We're gonna talk about the Virginia governor's race that's coming up in just a couple weeks, and how that might be a bellwether. Maybe even a harbinger. For things to come. I'm Antonio guys about relief factor for quite some time. And truth is, I know millions of people are in fact 100 million people in some kind of pain like producer Andrew who could walk. I can make you know my friends laugh. Like he was was was the difference between me being funny and like being a comedian. I'm like well the differences you are. You're being funny to like someone you're talking to and being funny to an audience but you have to communicate it to a large donahue. You are hit the references. You know the whole yeah. It's like and then as i. I can't believe that that person asking it doesn't put that together and they're like. oh yeah. i never thought you'd never thought of them. Adding this shows me that you're never gonna make even avenue even start or it's like the other one that i've heard dozens. I can't believe every time. I've heard that somebody goes like i have like fucking forty five minutes of material but i've never done it. I'm like you have forty five. And they're like. I used to have like pages this shit and that good i'm like and then you said you had beyond the road get on stage. Do the do that hot. Forty nine states. I mean do do it all. Yeah and they're like what. I need to get open mic invite. Everybody people come out and see. That's probably really good first. I'm more of a san antonio guy loves antonio gonna move. Yeah and whenever. I even talked to you about this like in the higher the pandemic and everybody's leaving frantic and you know. La's north korea and bob watkins locked down here. I started looking at property out there. And i'm like man i just can't i'm just not ready and go on like you could move to iraq and be fine. You know what. I'm saying but these other guys farm like bro you guys making. La you make it up there. I can get up eight times. Hairdo going nine different major podcasts. Waiting to you what do you do you just going to bank on gern brogan. Then ain't the move. I don't know. I mean i feel like in the short time that i've been there You know i've met some great local people like in texas but also love great people. But like i met local comics and then people that have moved their like recently. I do think we'll see a few more people move. And maybe some like establish people move there and then like you know the scene becomes what like what it is but it's good for everybody if it becomes another hub it'd be great. I mean you know ultimately like if if awesome becomes like a really great comedy scene. It's good for comedies lakers come. It's not like it's bad for la it's only competition. No no no. But i mean yeah of course like you. Hilarious i got. I was walking down. The street and paparazzi was everywhere in oss. No no he here here and this guy was when i was like what's up man. He's like. "Group is always going to be like for whatever reason like one step below and it's just a rock fight every time we get on the on the basketball court. I do feel the same way. I've been wanting that four seed home-court advantage for them this entire time it's still attainable. Felt like it probably wasn't going to end up that way because it was going to be harder for them. So and i bought wanted to avoid miami but maybe they won't i just at this point i believe i do and i nothing that i said yesterday or this morning changes that i do believe in this team and i do believe that they can win around and then who knows from there where they can go so hopefully the matchup doesn't matter that much but you're right. The path is going to be. I'm sure it's going to be difficult one. Oh by the way if you look around. They're starting to get hurt. C. that knicks. Pr tweet yesterday. Made my stomach turn. Yes they just snuck that out there. In the middle of the day it was like derrick rose ankle questionable. it was like oh come on. You gotta be kidding me with. This just goes to your point about how everything is difficult. Always hard here. Going reggie bullock sprained left ankle. Alec burks can twos left. Knee emmanuel quickly sprained left ankle. Derrick rose sprained left ankle all questionable for tomorrow's game against san antonio guys we knew about but bullock derrick rose thrown in there with burks and quickly. It's the last thing as good see. This is the heart. This is the thing you want to finish your season strong. Have three home games here. You win those three home games. You put pressure on miami. You put pressure on atlanta. Have to win their games. And you know. Atlanta wins again last night. So they knock off the the wizards two games in a row which has not been easy for anybody in this league but they do it and look. It's hard it's also also is thinking the same thing about the new york rangers have won a stanley cup since nineteen ninety four but man. It's a pain in the ass ever since lovie and crosby have gotten into the league. It's just been a grind. It's always a freaking grind and there's always a team it that seems like they come out of nowhere like tampa has come out of nowhere. They draft victor hedman. Next thing you now. They're running roughshod over everybody in eastern conference. And you see what's going on and carolina. You see what's going on down in florida and you're saying is help what the hell's my team been doing and how hard it is to actually sustain championship level roster and still be you know and still be young enough to have a future and that's where the rangers are now and i have to say this about chris. Drury essay had been excruciating day for him. It had to be an excruciating day for him for people who don't know he fires a guy who was the head coach at boston university. That's where he played as a player. Well of you know. Well i think it was well before. obviously quinn. Was there as a coach. But you know that's a common thread right. There and chris was a big part of david. Quinn leaving boston university coming here. The coach young rangers and to turn around a culture that had been to a bed had been built. I believe by john twitter originally when tortorella finally took over the rangers. he he taught. The rangers had played defensive hockey. How walk shots and he was lucky..

You know all that was going on behind the scenes. All we knew is that Santa showed up with a bunch of presents, and everybody got presence, and it really was, ah, beautiful moment for us. So for me to be able as an adult now be a part of it and encourage other folks too. Give to the off Louise Initiative here in Santonio is always fun, and we can't say the phone number enough. You know, at this time every year and asked people to join us on participate and donate, you know, But you guys do the heavy lifting. I mean, you you have seen firsthand and you know, and you're a part of this process. And if if you think about the logistics of making this happen of getting the donations of going out and buying the toys for these kids, which you do, of utilizing the buying power of great companies locally like KGB that can utilize more yuck for their buck to make these dollars, worth even more money to get more of these toys for the kids. And then just the incredible scheduling of getting Santas and elves and getting you know the addresses of all of these wonderful Children and their parents on getting the Santas, the elves and their toys to these kids around San Antonio in South Texas. It is. It's a Christmas miracle. I absolutely love it, Chris, You know there's a lot of moving parts in this project. And one of the things that always amazes me each year. Is that San Antonio steps forward and they make it happen. I mean, this is a project that I don't think could take place anywhere else in the country. The people of San Antonio make it happen. 5000 volunteers that show up every year. They're amazing. Healthful ways does not own a building. They don't have any space. We don't lease any space. Every year For 52 years, San Antonio has stepped forward. They provided us with approximately 100,000 square feet, a warehouse space. And they do it at no charge. For the past seven years, we've been partnering with our friends out of Port San Antonio. They've taken a sin. They make it all happen from their end again. There's a lot of moving parts here. The one thing that mystifies me each year is that those toys end up where they need to be. It was amazing, and that's the bottom line, and we absolutely love it. And Jerry and Tito We've got a very, very special guest on the phone line for so many years. For decades, he has stepped up and been such a big part of the Elf Louise Christmas project. And if you know anything about the history of San Antonio in the history of the business community in San Antonio, he's one of the original founders of Rack space, which is just such an iconic Company in this town, a global company now Rackspace, one of the co founders of geekdom, which is taken tech into into Ah, whole new era in San Antonio as well. Graham Weston is on the line, Graham West and Welcome to the elf. Louise Christmas.

You know come nerves little bit right yeah so if you I don't know there's a cpt oils place right next door just in case just in case so we always start the question or interview with simple question is what got right you in real estate what got me in absolute one thousand percent massive ridiculous frustration restoration with my life right so I was initially introduced a real estate in the Gulf War. I bought Robert Robert Allen's book no money down real estate. and I was twenty one years old in we invaded at the time we invaded Iraq at the time and I was I was twenty one. It was on ship and before I went on Shep I wanted to get some reading materials go. US Marine from eight to nineteen ninety two so I was deploying over to Iraq didn't over going to come back. I went to Horton Plaza downtown. San Diego went to the bookstore and found this book on real estate. Nobody real estate. Robert Allen happened the read that on ship and that that's where it Kinda got my bug about Rose Day. That's why I wanted to you know I want how to do something real real estate so Meena Buddy mind him Scott we saved up some money became back at twenty one years old and we went to Scottsdale. I'd still over on Scottsdale road in Earl over there. I'll have all these like you know old apartment complex so we didn't know his one thousand nine hundred didn't know at the time that there was a savings alone crash right in the market was decimated right especially in Phoenix so we go in and we find this guy I an ad we you know we're circling ads and we call the guy up and he was willing to do a wraparound mortgage right which we use today you know all the time and he bought his up to sixteen unit apartment complex for a little over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars when I was twenty twenty twenty one twenty twenty two lived on lived on site. We had an apartment there lived onsite manage the whole thing we clean a swimming pool. We cut the palm trees. We cut the grass we manage the whole thing. Collected Iran's did that so that was my first real estate experience way back when that may come out real estate and I was pulled into a new with different direction. That's why I got learned actually was a multi level company. I was recruited by my wife. She was so hot right so it's like real estate hogger wheels hot girl so I was like goggle right so she got me into your twenty s yeah so she got me into this multi level than actually it was in it for years in we do well but I I learned about self education. I learned about you know a cause in network marketing multilevel marketing you go to a lot of events so went to a lot of events and I learned about personal growth self-development the better you are the better you become and just Kinda took off from there. I learned that in about I came up. I became a trainer for them. So I flew all around the country teaching you know how to sell water filters. I put that made a wonderful foundation yeah well for the real estate industry. I mean 'cause I mean we're selling water filters in one thousand nine hundred ninety six one thousand nine hundred eighty when everybody believes the water's fine now. Everybody knows that the waters you know junk right so so now it'd be a little bit easier but anyway the bottom line is is I got out of that in nineteen ninety nine. I started my own business. I'm doing pools and landscape here in Phoenix. So I go to someone's house. I designed to pull designer landscape. and I did that from like ninety nine to two thousand three and then that's where I was ridiculously frustrated. I was you know I was just getting by living month-on-month frustrated. I had a new daughter at the time I wanted more for my life life and I just I had the education I knew about real estate but I just wasn't applying. I was stuck right. I was stuck so my wife's like man you should get back in real estate so they looked at becoming a real estate agent and it just didn't resonate with me and I I read a millionaire real estate agent. I think it was I read that and it just resonated for me and then and then I was the driving down the freeway. I was going to a pool landscape appointment guys talking about how you can flip houses. I thought he was crazy because I didn't know if if they had to have cashing credit to make money flipping houses so so he's talked about guys making five ten fifteen twenty thousand dollars flipping houses servers and ridiculous I'm born skeptic born and raised in New England so everything is a joke rows like there's no way what is scammed right now. It's just ridiculous I turn the channel continued driving down the freeway and this is absolutely crazy. There's no way that can happen now. Today I know was God's intervention and I was like he's tapped me on the shoulder and I turn the channel back and continued to listen in explain the concept of wholesaling and it's amazing because I had an epiphany right in an epiphany is amazing thing because you're like I was like wow I had no idea it's shining new light on what could potentially happen and that it happened for me and I was like wow I can take this concept you mean and I can sign a contract with the seller I can find a motivated seller and I can turn around and sign a contract with a buyer and I can make the money and between that's amazing. I was like free that has crazy right holy cow so so I literally bought the guys course I had a two hundred and fifty dollar capital one credit card my wife had it two hundred and fifty dollar capital one credit card. I called the Guy Ap courses five hundred bucks I said would you take to credit cards. He said yes I bought the course it was the the other. VCR'S I put it in the VCR thing he had one little tiny any manual and and I turned it on and they turned on watching on the TV and this guy comes out black and white video and he comes out and he's bell-bottoms and a and a hat on from Texas and it was all recorded in one thousand nine hundred ninety two right so it's two thousand three. It's all record in nineteen eighteen ninety two and I was like I know it was a scam. This is ridiculous guy sending me the stuff from one thousand nine hundred probably does the work. That's what they're selling on the radio radio so the guy on they'll sold he must have had a garage full of soul them all and then I never heard from the guy again right so in me right I by Hook Line and sinker so I go through I started listening. I was like I don't know so he he said you know go get a a list a pre foreclosures right a find that there's not the in have all the websites and services they do now now. The Union has zillow. I didn't even think they have red Fin. The only thing you had facebook right cellphones right. I don't know anyway so the bottom line is I bought this list and I hi I went knocked a stocking foreclosure doors and I started knocking. My family found a guy that wanted to sell his house and I didn't know what I I was doing. I didn't even have a contract went to staples to go. Get a contract and I didn't know how to negotiate. I remember going in this guy's. He stood me up two or three or four times before he got in there. I finally got in the House and I didn't. I didn't know anything about repairs. I didn't know about really negotiation when it came to a house. You know the guys like I got like well. What do you want for he? He goes eight six thousand. I was like done right. I didn't do anything done okay sign the contract and I didn't have any buyers and luckily at around sold for like ninety eight thousand and made eleven thousand eight dollars and that was in my first three weeks in May of two thousand and three I got my first check and an for all the people out there. That haven't got a check if you haven't got a check yet that's the first mission that's all. I can say you know yeah right you know at that. I check changes everything it turns doubt into into proof of concept you know now it can be done. It's a shut up. Check will shut up all your friends family. Relatives are telling you can't do it. so whatever you are right now it's GonNa be a literally obsessive mission to go get that I check in once you get adept. I check that's where momentum happens. That's where you're like I now I know he can do it now. You can just rinse repeat and that's where scale comes in well so that is that box right like you mentioned like mentally. You've checked that box okay. This Israel is asking. I can do this Ryan. You have money to make more deals happen correct so that's that's awesome so that was the first deal yeah..

They stopped liking it and they stop cooperating and her preschool that had basically all these different like eastern european china and russia and teachers instruction instructors one day her teach which is like bring underwear sitting around founder and i mean we're just like okay and we just brought in some underwear and she was ready and they basically drilled it in your head like the next day. She was potty the train like they didn't screw around kirk. The the raiders have been the talk of the day because mike mayock yesterday just showed up and called reporters over and said this <hes>. You'll know that a. b. Not ear today so here's the bottomline he's upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that we appreciate that at this point. We've pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief so from our perspective. It's time for him to be all in. We're all out kirk. What is antonio brown doing. He's being antonio brown and the thing about it is he's one one of the most powerful people and organization. No one wants to say it. The raiders need antonio brown. More than antonio brown needs the raiders okay but i'm be remote. Run it organisation. They need antonio brown and he knows it right. He knows it so. Is that what this is. Is this just a flex. I think this is a flex because the raiders saying we want to get him out there. They're trying to back him on this hill helmet issue and i think i heard john talking about a little bit earlier. John is different with tom. Brady like tom. Brady just was like forget it because tom brady's tried to fight the n._f._l. On a different way he's already won talk seriously. Tom brady is not gonna win a case it. Would you go suspended for four games again okay. Let's do a train. You let me deflate the footballs. Give the helmet so like i it's honestly like it is a flex by antonio brown and i've said this before many times that when you look at the raiders right now they actually this is a blessing in disguise what's going on with antonio antonio brown because they have some dean underlying issues within the team that i think that they're just not a good team yet but people all what's going on antonio brown. That's the question that's what mike mayock first time general manager yeah. He's not in a booth anymore right. He's not in the studio so he's tired of hearing the questions. I know his wife probably ask what's what's going on with the antonio guy his brother what's going like that's the only question the first time gerrymander comes in because when i hear what you say hey look. I'm not gonna take any questions. I'm just going to tell you straight up. Ah tonio brown he's not here. He's better be all in. That's frustration on the part that everyone asking him that same question and he's tired of answering it. How does it end. I mean i tell you what we were. Abroad will be ready week. One dimmer burma bronco monday night. He'll be ready to go. This will all be forgotten. "And we have an NBA and NHL champion the Toronto. Raptors have beaten the Golden State Warriors four games to two in a shocking shocking turn of events. There is a new king, the king of the north the Toronto. Raptors Scotty, what do we think? Is this a surprise? Did you see this coming? Well, I saw it coming as the series began. When Durant went down suddenly Toronto head to head a pretty good edge going in. And then, when of course when Durant tried to come back and, and had the disastrous achilles injury that it didn't seal Golden State's fate. But it sure even. Things out quite a bit. But what a great series it was. I'm it's unfortunate that this'll be marked by injuries. Because let's be honest injuries one the Toronto Raptors this series I think if Klay Thompson stays in that game they had a chance to win that and go back to Toronto tied three three. Kevin Durant, obviously going out with an achilles injury. As a Texan as a Texas longhorns fan. It broke my heart to see that. And as a adopted warriors fan, it was sad to see, but I hope that quiet Leonard, we'll get his credit because he deserves it all the world as a Spurs fan. I'm admitting that I will stand up and I'll be the better man. He deserved that MVP. He and Danny green played phenomenal. But I hope that history remembers this as the way it was it was, it was a Toronto win, not a warriors loss. You know, it they should they should remember it that way, because injuries are part of the NBA fabric, remember, the warriors won they want a NBA finals off of Kyrie, Kyrie Irving, getting hurt with the Cavaliers. So this has happened. They kind of I don't want to say it came back to bite them because it's an injury. It's not like they, they didn't cheat or anything. It's an unfortunate injury. But it happens to everybody and sometimes it costs you championship. I've always thought the, the Spurs, were the best team that year that the Mavericks won their one team and hopefully got hurt in the last game of the regular season. And all of a sudden the Spurs get knocked out in the first round he they had the best regular season record and you know, in Dallas, kind of marches through the playoffs. So you know you better have some good reserves on your team. And Lord knows Golden State. Definitely did almost enough firepower to overcome it. But when you know, when Klay Thompson went down boy, you wonder if state would have won that game I think that they got a lot of good calls in that game. I thought they got half a dozen calls. It went against them because they were visiting team. They did you know seeing Klay Thompson as soon as he got hurt the air when out of the bubble in Golden State. He was in my opinion. He was carrying that series for them. His shooting was out of this world. Good. Steph wasn't playing particularly well past you games. He had his forty five point game which was fantastic. But Klay Thompson, he really turned up a notch after his injury. He, he was looking like the true leader of that team. And he was he got injured. He tore his ACL folks, I have messed up my knee before, and after you tear, a ligament, you don't want to do anything, but lay down and, and sit there for months he got up. He ran it off when hit his two free throws with a tornado I give them all respect all the credit in the world because that it takes us. They say some Honus, it, took it took a warrior to do what he did. And I think he got the respect that of everybody in the country if you're doing that. But at you saw as soon as he got hurt. It was a different ballgame. I think everybody knew it, it was. And yet curry had a shot to win the game. He did in the last nine seconds. He had had a shot, which was a decent. Look. It was wasn't wide open. But you know what I listen? I, I have never been Steph curry fan because I have always been a San Antonio guy, and seeing him it made me envious and it made me angry. But the fact that he missed that shot. I don't want to say it's a career. Monumental moment. But if he makes that shot. He is all time great. That is going to be in the raptors forever that highlight played forever. The fact that he missed that shot was not only shift surprising to me, but it was a little defining to me. Well, I know this as a as somebody rooting for the raptors I couldn't watch, I close my eyes when that we do here, I too, I thought he was going to make that shot. That was his kind of shot. It wasn't exactly a standing there and go straight up. It was catching shoot which is his shot ship. Surprising. Let's go to that. Play real quick. The passing the throw into dream on green this side of the court. I thought that was big for they go for the over the shoulder passed in the kick out to Steph, it was a great pay play. Not good execution. I was surprised that he didn't make that shot though. Yeah. I was too. No question. Then I was surprised at Danny green of veteran learning the ball hit turned the ball over to give him that chance. Yeah. And this just means for next season with Klay Thompson with a tornado Seattle, Kevin Durant with a torn meniscus or excuse me, killing Dili's torn achilles. I think the tides have changed the and also a fairly big trade that just happened. We'll get to a little bit. But just that alone what yours are not going to be the warriors next year. It is open season next year. The NBA I don't I don't see them making it back to the NBA finals next year. So Durant is probably out, at least till February at the very minimum mandatory Klay Thompson or the playoff. I'd assume Klay Thompson around the same thing around probably around January, maybe December if they're lucky but without those guys, I don't know if they can do what they've done. In the past three years. The dynasty really could be over Draymond green assured us post game that they weren't done the their they weren't out yet, but those two injuries are going to have a great effect next season. And I don't know. I don't know how they how they've ounce back from that. Well, the interesting thing will Durant, stay with them. And of course, he's got I think he got he's got an opt out or not the end. I think have thirty one million to only play for two months of the season. So and I don't know every team most teams would still want him because it's still Kevin rent. He's still the baddest dude in the NBA. But if I'm going to rent, I say, you know what we'll worry about that next year. I'm going to stay one more year and Golden State. I'll get back in February. Then we'll take care of business like they've done. Any team will probably still make the move for him. But if I were him, I'd stay in Golden State get healthy. They're get back to what you know, and then start a new journey, once you're healthy. Yeah. I think. The I guess the jury's out. I don't know how you tell whether an achilles injury is a ten month. Rehab, or an eight-month rehab or exactly what it is. I read somewhere today that he wouldn't even play next season. So that's pretty. And gets his thirty one million and then and then goes to another team. That's another part of that. It's very sad to see what happened because the big debate is did he come into early was it? His fault was that the team doctor's fault and he he showed that he's a player. He he's not going to sit down and wait to see his fate. He wanted to take it in his own hands. So I respect Kevin Durant. You're doing that. I think he he he took his career in jeopardy by playing in that game because achilles that's the worst of the worst. Yeah. Sometimes you don't come back from that he'll be lucky to make it back next season. But you know I feel bad for him. And I feel bad for the warriors because they caught a bad bad break with those injuries and for all we know they buy three in a row. So you know it's injury Datta, but don't take that for granted. Because the raptors were the best team in the in the in the league this year, he's a tough guy. He's a competitor. Kobe bryant. You know, he was never quite the same after his. He played a full finals game with a torn achilles. Right. I mean, if he can do it, Kevin Durant. I mean yeah. It's, it's, it's lucky that Kevin's young enough to come out from that he's not an old man. He's only he's only thirty so he can come back from that any older man would be. It's lights out for them, but Kevin Durant. He's the best part of the world. I think he'll come back, he'll come back stronger than and I expect him to come back wearing that, that blue in blue and gold. Yeah. Let us in the best be. We need to take a break. We'll come back next segment with more NBA finals talk. And then we'll come back with Rudy Tomjanovich talk to him about his, his NBA finals, and ninety four ninety five but we'll be back in a little bit. Pokey after a long day of being pulled in every direction. The last thing anyone wants to think about is what's for dinner. That's where Schwantz can help with a variety of real food. "Manage. God. Jon Gruden making some noise on paper, it looks like a good HBO hard knocks. That's where they where they take you inside the locker room. And the worst one is Philbin, who is of Miami coach would add to cut somebody Philbin. Yeah. Then, of course, there was rhyming Irish coffee. Hugh, we've seen a number. One year as the head coach of the ravens Cowboys did at one year you Brown's John Dorsey Altaic, play big and this year's thrillers. I'm loving it. It's I mean between Jon Gruden. "Goods from other regions of the planet semi colonial possessions in India and just a stress I think between fifteen eighty two the eighteen twenties. Well, over a million people from present day and goal at were exported slaves, mainly to Brazil, but also to North America. And in fact, sixty nine thousand four hundred marks the anniversary of the first arrival of slaves from Angola to North America that that's right. Isn't it? Exactly. So this trade from Mongolia actually went on up into the eighteen fifties. Eighteen sixties central Africa. So the zero was the largest distance by far, but people were take into other places as well, including British North America as well as Cuba in the nineteenth century. So as a business the level resilience of this, very evil enterprise is. Astonishing. And just absolutely nail. This rookie would engender herself which you had been involved in this trade as Linda pointed out before she was one of the players one of the drivers of this trade as well. Since she was fighting the Portuguese to the extent you have captives of war. The key question. Then becomes what do we do with this captives of war? You do not have the logistical framework the infrastructure to keep people as captives for a long time, you either get rid of them or you sell them, your enemies. Okay. Let's just deal with the other element in all of this. Which is the the European religious brotherhoods. Toby what what role did they play both in in local society, and in the trans Atlantic trade. Well, that's that's a very interesting question. The Jesuits for example, had large plantations just to the north of Luanda which were worked by slaves from the early seventeenth century. And a lot of those stations were producing particularly manioc crops to feed because of course, as it was this period, the largest region in Africa involved in the transatlantic slave trade all of those captives had to be fed with crops Nichols clocks produced in Africa. So a lot of the Jesuits role was very complicated. They did have a big institution foundation in inland. Sadly all of the records, which the Jesuits kept having lost. So we don't actually know as much as we would do for many other parts of the world times Jesuit involvement that was significant Adams. Contain that sense in late trade in grain crops for the copies, but also from the sixteenth forties. As cannot mention the cappuccino several missions to central Africa from Spain in from Italy. And people like that who you mentioned Antonio guy and others became very involved in the mission is in process, and I think in terms of genius involvement in Christianisation, and as we just discussed in terms of the slave trade. I think there's also a very important time period here after sixteen forty s when the Portuguese much stronger position in central Africa, her conversion to Christianity and heroin slave trade change because of political change now, Linda ingenious alliance with the in Bengal didn't give her the power over and done that she wanted. So she has so it's on the neighboring kingdom of Matamba now in that kingdom with some of the others in the wider region. It wasn't uncommon to have a female ruler. So what happened in this case while? She had to find after having moved about in her Kilombero, which is a moving military Cam. She had to find a base that always been relationship between Matamba. And so that was a logical place to conquer and to set up a permanent residence. And this is what she did. And she made it more powerful than it was she made it more globally known than it was because it was from timbre that she started re assassin her position. And she would in fact, come back to Christianity. And then try to have a religious diplomacy with some missionaries who were not Jesse with missionaries Capuchin missionaries, we're gonna come to that later, but I just want to stay on and the role of women in this part of Africa because it was meant to lineal society. Right. Well, what man were traditionally in Battambang women traditionally lead. And it turned into more powerful state on the Jenga, but it was already recognized by Congo as a powerful Congo claimed that Matamba paid tribute to Congo. But they also said that Dongo paid tribute to Congo throughout the sixteen thirties and Jinja consolidated a position and that ever adopted kingdom of Matamba and then in sixteen forty one a major new player arrived in the region from Europe. The Dutch their entry into anger threaten to completely all to the balance of power in west Africa, much as it had already done in Brazil. And what happened next is the subject of the second part.

"So every should be happy though in look when you look at the deal as a whole Travis and ills z it's a two year deal. That's a sensually. What it is. I mean, we could say three years whatever it's a two year deal. He parlayed that thirty plus million dollars that was left on a three year deal got two years out of the raiders a guarantee money when it was no guaranteed money coming out of Oakland. I mean coming out of Pittsburgh, which was a plus for him and his family. That's all it is a two year deal. And if you can get a two year deal, if you would a guy like Antonio, and whatever the future holds beyond those two years, you take you accept the thirty is not guaranteed. So Pittsburgh's problem is their franchise that don't guarantee contracts beyond with the signing. Bonuses are right. They're willing to. Give you a signing bonus in that. But they're not willing to guarantee anything in the contract. And that's where all fell apart it fell apart for them. When Antonio look that those last three years of his deal himself will wait a minute. I'm thirty years old. I'm still at the top of the game. There's no guarantee money if he would have been quiet said nothing just play good guy. He still got that money in September would no problem. But there's no chance there's not there wouldn't have been a chance for him to get the next year this year, he would have gotten which was about thirteen million even gotten f- for sure let me let me be let me take Jon Gruden side here for saying can I make this case because we've been hard on him. We've been critical of his decision making we've been critical of the way that they moved Khalil Mack and Marc Cooper and everything else. But let me results have been hard on them too. They have record terrible. They took Amari Cooper and got in Tonio Brown in that spun Antonio Brown better football player than more Cooper. Maybe it's not a huge margin. But he's he's had at least he's had. More more kind of success more consistent and in the process. They turned a three and a five new number one pick. So they got the better player in the higher pick. Can you not arguing that Jon Gruden at least in this particular scenario at that position? With those picks. He won that deal. What I was say is this if you telling me, this was all part of John gruden's master plan. They'll be like, oh my God. He's a genius that sees beyond all of us think he stumbled into it, you know, he's stumbled into it. So I don't like to give people credit from some sort of overseeing sort of perspective when you and I all know that he didn't plan on any of this. You can't plan for this. This was pure luck. He benefited from it. But I am more willing to give credit to a GM that you see it's playing chess as as opposed to somebody who is one of the diets just hit. Well, he look he here's the here's what it all boils down to man, they ever you want to look at it. They gave up Amari Cooper who. Who's young at twenty something years old more Cooper's going to get more money than Antonio guy? He's gonna get more money than that over longer. Periods of time. There's no question about it. You look at it at third around picking this call it third round the five that's just a if the five makes great if he doesn't no big deal. Third round picks usually make the teams they gave up with three to get an Tonio for two years. That's what they did. And they gave him thirty million dollars of guaranteed money that he would have he would have made with Pittsburgh unguaranteed. But he would have made the roster two more years. There's no question about it. So at the end of the day, John grooten looks great may I looks great look like they they robbed them without a mask on in. No question. No question about it. But where are they going? What what what what's the endgame is? This all of a sudden gonna take them in make them this. Great Super Bowl contender will. That's question. Isn't it that is this just a one off is this just something that they're going to do?.

But I'm glad that there are people rooting rooting for their own. They're all firing. We're horse players here. They're not gonna. I mean, a lot of people will stick around to essentially see the show we're watching right now to our right? The construction of the physical vinyl table. Boy. There are a lot of people rooting there though. Interesting scene in the lobby where I just was the filing out. My saw a lot of players who were in the semi final round with glum looks on their face, including John Pender, who I got a chance to meet who is he says horse racing young. He's about forty one years old San Antonio guy. A loyal podcast listener, which made me very happy in the money players podcast. And he just said some kind words, and I told him to try to come back and be on the air. He's had a great run, but he was out of bullets, and I think in the tenth spots he was assuming that he's going to get past. More likely. You know, what I was talking? I think it was yesterday about how the final table format, and sometimes it hasn't been that exciting. I think this year, we have a nice Compaq leaderboard minorities running away with it. This could be our most exciting final table ever. And maybe put to bed some of the grumpiness. The format. Just kid. Just asking. Oh, no, I agree with you. I mean, we're always looking at ways ways to make it more exciting. But I think this year even with the current format we should have some some movement on that leaderboard throughout the day there. It should come down that last race with several people at least on live. That's what you want. Right. If you can have four five players drawing live in that last race. Now has anybody heard a weather update from southern California because with that last race going to be off the turf? Yeah. That's that's my fear. But I don't know. I haven't checked let me look I can look it on my phone here. Play amateur meteorologist is. Yes, Seth what are you been up to today? What you've been what stories are you following? What have you been set down said that Belleville g who's read over there in the light blue top young guy from Albany because he's from Albany's a local guy hit that he was about twenty bucks out of ten th place and hit that fairgrounds race. Oh, boy, I'm assuming he's he's good. In contention any way, that you know, as I say young guy first time here, he just kinda got an tournament side of things this year. So the kind of routing along with him a little bit. We talked on yesterday at the end of the day. Because again, he's a local guy news in pretty good position. At the end yesterday at us twenty one twenty two twenty three something like that. And so obviously come into the last day in that kind of a position your contention to wind up on the stage at the end of the day. I've been buttering his name..
