"Our true allegance right. Yeah wow katy. Perry would sneak cds of rock and pop music into the house from friends And that's so the combination of gospel and this sort of contraband music. That was was Outlawed in the household was what got her her start her love of music. You're asking about that jen. Most of this is from Both a biography of katy perry a called rebel dreamer and also in a tweet. A two thousand nine interview with mtv news talking about her childhood and so yeah no lucky charms. No lucky charms. They are the devil's food back. Really makes me respect her like us just so many layers of things to have to break away from. And if it's hard when you're intoxicated. Like that i really respect that journey. Honestly i Okay everybody we are very excited to begin our interview. Today's episode we have a guest with us. You know we've been really looking forward to speaking to please. Welcome to the show. The co founder of the anik temple lucien greaves. I listen hello how are you doing. We're very wow. How are you not bad. No not bad at all. thank you. Well let's just say jive in to start. Can you tell our listeners. What is and isn't the satanic temple. The temple is a worldwide not the stick religious satanic organisation were corrupting the moral structure of western civilization and undoing. All the great work that has been done for the previous centuries really. But i think when most people if they know of us at all they know of some of the activists activities. We've been involved in trying to preserve the separation of church and state and trying to force the government to respect pluralism when they opened the doors for religious expression in public grounds in that kind of thing. A lot of people think that. That's the only thing we do but in fact were recognized by the irs. As a church and we have congregations worldwide and people really do religiously identify with this. Even though we're we're atheists stick. And even though i say were undoing. A moral structure of western civilization. I feel that in reality for preserving our democratic and secular values that are being undermined now by a theocratic movement trying to install evangelical supremacy beautiful. So i i really hope all of our listeners. Go and watch the documentary but just in case they don't I was wondering if you could just let everybody know what are the seven fundamental tenents the seven fundamental tenants our guiding principles that we used to kind of define what satanism is to us a bit general. I guess sometimes they're criticized for being vague and not actually saying anything about satanism. It all but us you know satanism either resonates for your doesn't that symbolic structure and it has more to do. Probably with the background. You came up with and whether or not you feel impelled to kind of liberate yourself from superstition or religious programming but i can read off the seven ten. I love him. And i think our listeners will love him as well. Okay well i want should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason to the struggle for justice an ongoing unnecessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. Three ones bodies inviolable subject to one's own wheel alone for the freedoms of other should be respected including the freedom to offend to willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another's to forego one zone five beliefs should conformed once best scientific understanding of the world wants you take care never distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. Six people are fallible. If one makes a mistake want you do one's best rectify it resolve any harm that may have been caused in seven. Every tenant is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action thought the spirit of compassion wisdom and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word. I would imagine the one about scientific. Facts has been very relevant in the last four or five years. Who is the one about the bodies inviolability especially being that we fight for our religious reproductive rights in an era now in through such pushback attempts to try to overturn roe versus wade. So just as worse sort of giving our we definitely want to get into all of this but for audiences who are just getting to know you. What is the difference between the satanic temple and the church of satan. The church of satan was founded in one thousand nine hundred sixty. Six by anton. Levay in a lot of people have an idea who anton avai is he used at bald character with the goatee. Who would sometimes dress up in the devil horns and two rituals and things like that. The church of satan doesn't really exist today as it did back then in probably wouldn't exist at all if it weren't for the internet they're not recognized as a tax exempt religious organization. They're pretty much just a twitter feed right now but philosophically depart in that The church of satan really. Espouses a pro authoritarian also kind of magical mystical view of the world from a very social darwinist perspective. So our brand of satanism in which we're actually coming together unorganized fashion and working together very much conflicts with the church of satan's idea of being by solit- individuals who have no real tangible engagement with a real world issues at all so i love that. At least what. I gleaned from. The documentary is that this essentially started as a prank that grew and grew and grew and grew and grew the documentaries says that satanists are the original trolls. So i was wondering how i feel about that. We also just interviewed ken. M who is a legendary internet trolls. So yes wanted to know how i felt about being called troll. And what you think about internet trolls. Keeping up you know. How's it going. I think have a lot to answer for now. I see there's revival of some of the stupidest things of from the dust bin of history. You know neo-fascist movements and a people who actually claim to believe that the world is flat. And i think some of the ludicrous conspiracy theories we've seen startup and actually gain. Traction probably started with smart asses thinking they were funny online and thinking that they could get people to believe this stuff and they actually did. I think it gets a little tedious now for journalists to keep asking the question when they write articles about the attack temple. If we're actually legitimately or not or are we just trolling because at this point. I think we've gone beyond showing that we're we're authentic in at the point where you have over a quarter of a million membership in many of whom you know clearly openly religiously identify with what we're doing..

"Of richard and jesus name in an effort to save their son. Who leon and mercedes sent richard to visit. His eldest brother rubin in los angeles during the summer of nineteen seventy-three. They hoped that getting him away. From the bad influences of el paso would give him a new perspective but they didn't realize would only end in disaster. Unbeknownst to his parents ruben a professional burglar and a heroin addict his wife was a similarly bad influence and they lived in one of the worst areas of los angeles instead of setting his youngest brother on the straight and narrow. Ruben coached richard in the arts of burglary. He applied practical experience to the lessons. Mike had taught richard about moving stealthily through the night richards. Desire to steal only grew when he saw the city. Los angeles of the nineteen seventies was downright opulent and the wealth on display was. Nothing like richard had seen before at thirteen. He realized for the first time that the only way he could acquire that level of wealth was to steal it. Richard also became ensnared by the openness of sex in la women on the beaches wore bikinis and the porn shops. That allowed him carried hardcore bondage magazines which he found far more appealing than anything he'd seen before in the fall of nineteen seventy-three return to el paso changed boy just not in the way his parents wanted. He knew what he wanted sex and money and he began to believe that was his destiny to take both by force. He started ignoring school completely and spent the next few years dedicating himself to training for his new dark path. He took karate classes and went out at night to peep on women in his neighborhood watching them undressed through their windows. He went hunting in the desert killing any sort of animal. He could find over time. He grew extremely skilled at sneaking up on his prey and took great pleasure in the process of gutting and mutilating his kills. He watched horror movies and imagined himself as the monster. He also experimented with hallucinogens. Like lsd and his trips brought his all too familiar visions of monsters back into his reality except now the monsters. He saw captured and sexually assaulted any person who walked by even through his trips. He knew these thoughts and visions were horrifically unchristian. He still believed in the power of god and jesus and he knew they would condemn him for his urges and his sadistic desires so still wanting to serve a higher power he turned to satan when he hunted. While high on drugs he felt like he was communicating directly with lucifer. Himself as the years tick by. Richard moved ever closer towards satan and further away from society. His desires darkened and his need to act on his impulses grew to uncontrollable levels. He just needed the perfect opportunity. In nineteen seventy five fifteen year old. Richard got a job as a maintenance man at the local holiday inn. While there he acquired the master key from a disgruntled employee and used it to rob the patrons wild. They slept the also watch guests through their windows catching sight of any women who happened to be changing clothes getting out of the shower as he stared at these women. He fantasized about breaking in overpowering them and forcing himself on them. After months of these fantasies he finally decided to act around one in the morning on one particular night. Richard saul through a window. A young woman wearing only her underwear. He noted that she was alone and he knew he had to have her. He waited for her to become occupied in the bathroom. Then he snuck in through her door quiet as can be. He crept her closet and hidden side waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike when she walked back into the room. Richard pounced through his hand over her mouth and knocked her to the ground. He gagged her with her own. Underwear told her not to make a sound then. He tied her up. Richard thought he was about to bring all his pent up fantasies to life all he'd ever wanted but just then the room door opened. The woman's husband had returned with food. And when he saw richard he went berserk. Demand beat richard into unconsciousness leaving the teams face swelled to twice its normal size. The couple immediately called the police and richard was taken to the hospital for treatment. Then immediately arrested as richard was still a minor. The police called his mother to tell her what had happened mercedes. Ruth rushed to the hospital to check on their favourite boy. They couldn't believe their ears when they heard what richard had done. Richard saw this disbelief as an opportunity to save his image. He told his family that the woman had made an advance on him. He thought she was single until her jealous husband. Returned to find himself being cuckolded then the couple had lied about the whole thing to avoid. Embarrassment a villain. He was the victim and his family believed every word. The teenagers claims of innocence were bolstered. Several months later when the charges against him were dropped the couple involved had no wish to relive that awful night so they refuse to testify against richard. Leaving him a free eighteen he'd committed a terrible crime without consequence and this further convinced. Richard that satan's path was the right one to follow with that renewed confidence. The eighteen year old moved to los angeles in one thousand nine hundred. Seventy eight and moved in with his brother ruben. He and reuben regularly burglarized homes together making an average of twelve hundred to fifteen hundred dollars per week but despite their shared interests the brothers relationship grew tense. After a few months and reuben suspected richard was making sexual advances on his wife. Richard denied the allegations but he left the apartment all the same and began living on the street. He still cars and slept in them for days at a time. He also began injecting cocaine his new favourite drug as it made him feel powerful and possessed by satan. At the same time richards. Violent sexual urges grew to unprecedented levels in the summer of nineteen seventy eight. He committed his first known sexual assault. A woman turned him down for sex early. One evening incensed. He broke into her apartment around. Three a m gags her and tortured her until the sun came up. Traumatized she didn't go to the police and richard walked away emboldened by his evil deed. His mindset only grew more vicious. When you read a book titled the satanic bible. The book was written by anton. Avai founder of the church of satan. It's widely considered to be one of the most influential texts in the world of modern satanism preaching that there is no such thing as sin or guilt though it's important to note that many have questioned the seriousness with which levay wrote the book. "Gmc podcast network. I'm your host choline and let's just talk about some weird stuff. So i was thinking about bands the other day and i was like you know what would be interesting. The weirdest bands that have ever existed and that exist now. So let's talk about some weird bands that have existed and actually exists now. So let's start off with okay a lot of these names. I'm going to butcher but bear with me so Stall ago also known as ghoul ago. So it's s. t. a. l. a. g. g. h. or g. u. l. a. g. g. h. So they seem to have two names and this consisted of band members from dutch in belgium. So it was kind of like a mishmash of people And they were a black metal band now. I love me some metal. I really love me some metal but this sounds like a band i would not be into and this is why they used to use actual mental patients in their music so on three of their albums. They actually used mental patients in these albums. Were between two thousand two and two thousand seven now. One of their members worked at a mental hospital like they were somebody who worked there and they somehow got permission. Which i i don't know but they somehow got permission to use some of the patients in their stuff. Which either this mental hospital is absolutely terrible or they were doing it and just said they got permission. You know kind of thing. But that's what they did. They use these poor mental hospital patients in their music and they said they did this because they wanted act. Schule dark despair in the music. Which i think this is absolutely horrifying. This is terrible now. I love metals. Like i've said before. I love all types of metal and the one thing that bothers me with metal and i actually won't listen to their music even if i'm not a fan of it is the people that do dumb stuff like this. So i'm i don't know i feel like i've met a good amount of metal musicians going to concerts and whatnot but i am. They've always been very sweet very kind. And i've never met one. That was not so. I like to stick with people who are very sweet. Very kind you know in real life and that actually goes for a huge portion of metal bands so these are just some that are the exception. I guess they're not all middle. I promise but I thought i'd just throw that in there. Just who are not thinking. Oh middle bands are terrible. They're not most of them are not terrible. Most of them are really nice people. They just like really heavy music. So let's move onto a punk metal band from seattle now. This band is called an m. e. so just the letters n m an e. So they were one of the first extreme metal bands in the us. I put air quotes around extreme metal. You can't see it. But i'm telling you i did. Not only their music. Extreme but the frontman kurt. Stroup ing. it's s. t. r. u. e. b. i. n. g. But kurtz drooping was actually convicted of murder in nineteen eighty-six because hold onto your lunch kids. He chopped his mother into pieces with a hatchet which is absolutely terrible. And oh i can't. It's so terrible. But after he was released surprise he was released in the first place. The band actually got back together and continued to do music for a while but he ended up taking his own life in two thousand and five. So i'm not sure. I couldn't find exact. Excuse me exact dates for this. But i'm not sure when he was released and came back but they did end and they're no longer thing and this is probably for the best once again. this is a metal band that just. They're making bad names for their music genre. Which is absolutely just horrifying. Let's move on to radio werewolf now. This one is a doozy. So during the height of the satanic period hysteria that was in like around the mid eighties in america They were considered the most dangerous band in the world now. This was due to the notoriety of their vocalist zena. Shrek script C. s. c. h. r. e. k. I don't know maybe shrek but this is because xena was the daughter of anton levay now. If you don't know who anton avai is. He was actually the founder of the church of satan. I also think he wrote the lake saito satanic bible as well or something like that. I've done some research into him. His whole thing's really interesting if you want to hear podcast about it tweet me at. Gmc underscore weird news. But let's continue with this. He so he's the founder of this and so in the music they actually use nazi imagery necrophilia. Serial killers and mysterious code rituals. I don't know if it was just in their music. Allies probably a mixture of in their music and also music videos. So i do believe people thought they were very dangerous. because it was really pushing the satanic church I don't think they're doing anything bad. I don't know you know. Let them do their thing but anyway they saw the big reason that this band was so big was because Xena was the daughter of anton lefay and it was a big thing. Then this is really this was when you know the santana church was really coming into the media and like they like i said earlier it was called satanic or they sit tanic panic said period. I'm so sorry. But it was during the panic panic hysteria which was like i said to in the mid eighties in america. So this really. I think was what was kind of pushing them to the forefront and i do think they were probably using a lot of this material not to promote the satanic church but i think they were using it to really kind of just shock. I think what they were after was a shock value. I couldn't find anything that said anything about. Actual you know killings or murders or whatever that was associated to radio werewolf. But i really thought that you know. I thought that they deserve a spot on this list because it is very strange that the daughter of somebody so big makes a band and then just goes full force into the ridiculous with their imagery in their music. I i don't know once again. This is just giving a bad name to music. I understand using music videos and stuff like that as shock value and that's actually really popular nowadays in music videos and also in Just music in general. I actually am an award winning. Music video director. I know it sounds like i'm tuned my own horn but i am an award winning music video director. I've directed a good few music videos. And i i try not to really go for shock value. Even if i do go i shock value. It's like a second of something and not really the whole music video because the shock value really pulls people in a does and it's a good selling point but at the same time. I feel like you can really overdue it. And then you turn into this band or you turn the band that you're doing the music video for in do just shock value in. That's all the people are looking for at that point. Now i'm going to take a quick break when we come back. We will continue with some more weird bands that exist and have existed this show built around the women of mma from the ufc to the extreme cage fighting..

Go dancer working at a number of clubs on the north beach strip nights were long usually running from four pm till two in the morning before moving onto the next club to dance until dawn in the hope of maybe being spotted by a talent agent. It was while dancing. One night that susan only eighteen years old at the time was introduced to anton avai laverne and his followers had been causing a stir with the recent establishing of his church of satan. The many found the group alarming in truth. It was little more than an individualistic cult movement. The practiced magic more opposed to the orthodoxies of christianity than enthrall to any actual. Satan levy was developing production based around the idea of a witches sabbath and was looking for women to play the part of luring scantily clad vampires who had terrorized the audience as the sabbath was conducted. You know if you show up and there's a candidate on the ballot and you have no idea who they are. and. You vote for them. Anyway. That's your fault and if you end up putting a reformed satanist libertarian been a law enforcement position, dot your fall. but then as I was looking. To learn, you know to learn more about her on the blogs and learned about the reforms in this. The way that she was describing it their relationship of the reformed state nece. To. Be Orthodox Churches State and as it were really kind of reminded me a little bit about the relationship that quakers have to mainline. Christianity? Might, do you have a comment about that I am trying to find the parallel? Grasping the parallel can you give me give it to me He'll be on. Short. So basically, what area was describing in terms of like the reforms. Say. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this at any point. Is basically this. There's this rebellion against the sort of like. You know quote Unquote Traditional Satanism. Anton Avai basically saying you know we don't need A. Guru as a master of. As A, you know an anti Pope or whatever we can you know we are on God's than we can figure that out for our. in in the same way that like going back to their seventeenth century, Ruth, the quakers started as. A rebellion against on the Church of England and it's idea that only you know only the pre only priests only the ministers we're the ones capable of you know of dispensing the divine knowledge George Fox was very much into this idea that you know all of us have this potential for direct connection with. With God or divinity or spirit or whatever you WANNA call it And we don't. You know we are all our ministers are we are all ministers to one another as it were and that's That that was the parallel that struck me with what I, what I thaw. In that description of reform satanism yeah. Can see that particular description it sounds right by and large. George Fox not a man without his foibles but I think the descriptions accurate. Who Eighteen and James Fans who was twenty been drinking for six hours, smoking pot, and listening to metal and listening to juice stained glass album. After, which each man took a shotgun, unfortunately in shot themselves, the same shotgun bill camp died instantly advanced lived. He sustained serious injuries obviously in left him disfigured. He died three years later before his death Vance and his parents sued the band and the label CBS records for six point two million dollars. They claim that Jewish priests had hidden subliminal messages. Try Suicide, do it, and let's be dead in one particular song on that album. The cover of Spooky Tooth's better by you better than me. How many times have you haven't been hanging out at a party? And someone goes throughout some spoke to and I, always a fucking cover man i. just want some original Spooky, always the best parties. That's where you know there's going to be cute girls. Exact kind of party spooky tooth! It supposedly influenced Vance and bell camp to form a suicide pact. They were quote mesmerized. The suit went to trial in July nineteen ninety. Now the reason it was able to go to trial. The judge actually stated this anything in a song is protected by the First Amendment. Whether it influenced them or did not influence them, but the allegation is that they hit the hit subliminal messages that is not protected by the first man to get it that they played this song forward backward sped it up. Everything attempt to prove that the group brainwash these two men into killing themselves when you like to be, the judge is sitting there. Listening to that shit forward backwards sped up four times just like you said with Robert. Leasing Rob Hallford had to testify in court. That do you think? Do you think a party broke out when they were playing? I like two party. Let's gay commercials that there's A. The, bring out a keg. Wait till you see the pool. But he had to testify. He said that the the supposed backward masking this what they call. Asking yeah back. Masking was actually the sound of. Exhaling like him breathing. In the band's attorneys also retention. Thanks for that. Appreciate that. The band attorneys also drew attention to the fact. That Vance and bell camp had pretty troubled childhoods. And? They had substance abuse problems The the judge ultimately decided that the group was not responsible. I watched the documentary. There's documentary on. It called Dreamer Deceiver. It's messed up this kid that this kid lived he he. He looked bad, he he he was really disfigured and and the interview. The parents and the parents are sitting there. Talking about you know why. I know that you know your dad. Had you know drug abuse in this? And and you know he beat me and did all and but you know who doesn't do that and I mean they're just. They're awful. People who don't want to look in the mirror and they just want to blame other things the best part of the trial, though the best part of the trial Helford mid such a good point, he played another excerpt from the album forwards and backwards, and he plays backwards. He says see see how this were implying right here. It says quote I ask for peppermint. I asked her to get one and. Judge Says Yeah. You know. The only thing is I randomly grabbed this piece of music and attach this phrase to this morning. It's whatever ideal you meaning i. play this backwards. Told you what you're going to hear. Now that's all that's all you can hear me Oh. Yeah! I, said this. You're right I said. It's like seeing a face in the clouds wanted. Someone tells you it's there. You're going to see it. Nicholas sparks novel faces in class should be. That's why that's why I, only listen backwards to my personal recordings of local. BLUEGRASS bands playing at county fairs. Get my messages. That's where I get all my message. This is this is a sad case. Because this kid was still alive for years having to deal with three years, and his parents like you said didn't look in the mirror. No, but and. Ultimately. He died. He checked himself into a hospital. He died of a drug overdose They say they say unknown of an unknown caused were likely suicide. Whatever either way. It's sad that he passed away, but the at the end of the day. That's not Judas Priest's fault and speaking of not the fault of the people. You could not do an episode without talking about the West Memphis three and satanic panic. This is a case that really hit home with me. At a young age and I have followed and followed followed. If you guys aren't familiar with the West Memphis three three boys, three victims Stephen Ranch Christopher, buyers, and James more eight year old boys, they went missing and were found to be in a stream outside of West. Memphis Arkansas. Dead and three boys were arrested very fast. Tackles Kelly junior and Baldwin. Why were they arrested because they were the local satanists? Damien echols was into Anton Avai and he was into. WICCA he practices. Pressure magic, but they're not the only people. There's other players. There's a crazy stepfather John. Mark Byers Boise Crazy Terry Hobbs. Who Terry House. We'll get into a little bit. Also the night that these boys went missing at the local restaurant. BOJANGLES bojangles. A man runs in covered in blood goes in the bathroom. They go to call the cops. The guy gets spooked and leaves, and the cops leave it. They don't even collect the blood or anything like that. The the sure that's not connected at all. No police officer drove by and decided not to come in and check it out because she said quote. It wasn't my jurisdiction. That's right Oh so. So instead of even thinking anything about that, they go after the three kids in town. Because when they're going, someone did this. Someone killed these boys out in the woods. They go well. It had been Damian echols in his friends, because everyone knows they worship the devil, and to which the police go. Yeah, that checks out that's that's probably the thing. The one thing to mention is the way they arrested the boys. It was a month after the bodies were found, and while that seems like a short amount of time. In a small town where three eight year old bodies had been found and their and their their sexual organs had been cut off, they had been beaten in Hog tied with their own shoelaces. Yeah, it was they were. They were looking at the people of the town. We're looking for blood and they they end up. The pressure was on the police, so dad, what that would do to a small town? Oh of. From small towns small very Christian very very southern town, so they bring these kids in they specifically brought in Jesse Miskelly and Jesse Miskelly of the three is is mentally challenged has an Iq of seventy three. Mentally Disabled yes. And Seventies is functional like where you can actually function in society. I think is where the the line also, and this isn't a joke I mean. I think it's a good barometer. Forest Comes Iq Seventy-five in that movie and just take about the as somebody at how he functions, and they and they they interview him will use the term interview. For twelve hours, but the only record the last forty five minutes Yup..

How do you explain that to others without it seeming like? You are the ultimate path like you know you know exactly what the sits right and one way is to find empirical evidence like your suggestion. I don't know if you're familiar with real steiner for example, but yeah, that was kind of his thing, right he he firmly believed in something beyond what we perceive with our five senses, and he believed that there was a way to the find that empirical evidence and bring that experience down to a physical level a material level if you will. But again it's a very fine line. Because when you. When you get a glimpse of infinity, you just get this. It's so weird. You try to do some of this worked to gain knowledge and dissolve some of your ego, but as you do it a lot of times, your ego grows exponentially larger. Yeah so true and Just a for the record briefly before of. Touching what you said just there you know there are some new age authors dead. I think are. Pretty well studied enough fairly useful. I don't really read too much of it. I'm more into clinical data and anthropology in you. Know I'm trying to make my own research so to speak, but you know they're. Not Saying you know I. Try not to paint with broad strokes. Many case. Yet It's it's such a fine line and you know in many ways I actually. I enjoy a lot of the research that Anton avai proposed in purely in terms of uh, psychology, and interpreting some of these things on like setting aside. You know the discussions of the relevance of the spiritualism and looking at the. Julie how it affects and operates with DA, the individuals, psychology, and and I think that Lavar a Had it wrong in the sense of like out so many kind of left handed path people. I consider a balance path on more of a Buddhist Middle Path? I don't think too much of the left and right hand is. Going to be a problem and Invade took it to some obvious like a sociopathic extremes with the left hand and. You. Know I think it's. It's really important to have some sort of you know people call it God, but it's. I, don't know that that that term has so many different me so many different things so many different people these days, and really what it boils down to on a sort of tangible level is. A hierarchy within the mind there has to be within the psyche. There has to be some sort of. Place if you want to call it that in your in your state of consciousness in the site, he that Like you know, this is something that you can look to for strength something that has to be outside of you like there's old traditions. Man I can't remember. The specific spot the specific cultures, but it's in several cultures native cultures where they have things that they call it a worry doll. You make good little doll, and then you tell your problems, and you want to sit there and with your problems. You don't have to think about it. You know things like that like you have to have these are like..

"Hey everyone You're about to hear another episode of what we're calling. Just another panic Monday. It's our talk show with myself and Miranda Zickler. Our regular season in is going to be coming back in mid February that season three. So make sure you stick around and wait for that and now here's the show. Welcome to our offseason talk. Show the takes a more casual. Look at handful of our nation's most famous freak outs. I'm your co host Chelsea. Whatever Smith I'm your other co host Miranda Zickler and this is American hysteria? Just another panic. Monday unday we all grew up telling urban legends with glossy. He covers of tabloid magazines. regaling us with salacious celebrity stories with a sense that these megastars had something to hide side. In addition to the stories we saw while waiting in line at the grocery store Americans began to tell their own tales to ones. That seemed too good to be true. Too Weird to be true. A score of mature content to enthusiastically share with all the friends you could could Marilyn Manson's rib removal Richard. Gere's unfortunately sexual relationship with a Gerbil the tattoos under the sweater of Mister Rogers the illuminate conspiracy theories about Katy Perry Jon Benet Ramsey and George Bush urban legends about celebrities most often about the more unsavory parts parts of their lives seemed to give us a little bit of shod in Florida to combat nagging envy. That naturally lives inside of us here here. We are in the nineteen nineties. Watching the members of the satanic panic burned low knowing they could flare up at any provocation enter Marilyn Glenn Manson born Brian. Hugh Warner a singer who stylized himself in a way that was definitively evil by the standards of American morality especially after the release of an album. He named Anti Christ superstar. Manson's bandmates each carried a mash up of names of starlets and serial killers. Daisy Berkowitz twiggy Ramirez. And last but not least Madonna Wayne gase. By the time columbine changed the nation forever Marilyn. Manson was a scapegoat for teenage violence and suicide. Just as the metal bands of the nineteen eighties were soon rumors. Spread of a rib removal surgery performed on Marilyn Manson and so he could give himself oral sex. This is untrue and Manson addressed the rimmer himself. Let's go straight to the source with Manson and play the game real. Oh I didn't I didn't I didn't remove my red wonder year. Talk does To to easy right now granda granda. Yes I had this weird gross idea inspired a little bit by What I found online about this rib removal and someone Kinda whacking philosophical about the idea? So I'm GonNa go ahead tell me all about it there's an interesting biblical implication here As isn't there always is instead of Manson's rib producing a woman. He could have sex with as the removal of Adam does at the beginning of the Old Testament he instead removed a rib to have sex with himself and what could be more satanic then that originally an also. Predictably this rumor can also be traced back to the gender ambiguous rockstar prince. Another youth influence -fluenced considered controversial by parents. Do you remember this rumor. I do remember this rumor. I feel like this is the first one we always refer to when we talk about the subject for me. This is definitely like the quintessential celebrity urban legend of the ninety s and beyond to thousands. I guess in addition Manson Jason along with shock. rocker Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne or often accused of killing puppies. Yeah Maranda doesn't like that at all like it. I I mean I don't either. And and and making their audience kill puppies during their shows for example throwing a bunch of puppies happy's out into the audience visual aid and telling everyone that had to sacrifice the puppy and motor. I hi under the damage Chelsea but it was like they were like done and then it's like okay anyway so this this isn't true. It's also an obvious to me. Extension of the fear of satanic ritual abuse in which America became obsessed obsessed with the unthinkable violence of satanic cults that never was stories of brutal rituals involving small innocent children in infants and baby animals. It's true though that Ozzy Osbourne did bite the head off a living bat as we also heard growing up but it was an accident. The animal is thrown on stage by a fan with ozzy believing. It was made of Rubber Poor Ozzie and poor back. I mean deeply poor bat. Ozzy I'm Kinda like how okay first of all how do you throw a bad on stage. Do you think it was. I know. Miranda is very sensitive to animal fat so much Kenya throw a bat. Yeah because they're weighing. Because you think think they're like wrap them up by their ways and he was all like hold up in the threw him on stage fake you can throw them and then they get disoriented. I'm no bad expert and I. I am a little bit of a bad expert. I don't know I've always felt that that was sort of a suspect to story. Hopefully it's not true. I think it's definitely true. Sorry I guess it's like you would never in a thousand years remember this because you don't like sports but Randy Johnson of the mariners who was a pitcher once threw a pitch and a bird got in front of it and the bird exploded on live. TV It reminds me of that. I want to get off the subject. Okay let's US keep going. Can you take it away with another favorite of ours. Let's continue with the satanic aluminum body and their bizarre brand of sleeper agents. What there are of course? Endless examples of famous people in the aluminum body and by proxy the Satanic Cults that make up this omnipresent and powerful secret society -ociety one very popular urban legend. That makes absolutely no sense but is fun as hell. Is that contentious American Darling. Taylor swift is is none other than the daughter of Anton. Avai the flamboyant founder of the Church of Satan that you Chelsea talk a lot about in the satanic panic episode on lavar forever linked this rising and recycled fear of organized satanism to the rich and famous. Who are known to attend his raucous and salacious parties? Ladies Sweet Taylor. Meanwhile vaguely resembles Zeena Schreck. Who is live as daughter and heiress to the satanist thrown? This is probably mostly a mock conspiracy theory in the vein of Ted Cruz as the Zodiac killer. Right but read it loves it nonetheless. There is like a resemblance show. Yeah and sheep east out like Europe and she was like. I don't WanNa do this anymore. I don't have anything to do with this Weird Satanic Church she. She joined another church and became high priestess of the Church of something else. Which makes her a crossover artist? Ooh just like Taylor another interesting Jason Evidence and you know I used to really really not like Taylor swift and Miranda over here really did change my mind. Listen to her most recent album mm-hmm and one thousand nine hundred nine comeback and. Tell me that it that you don't like just tell us anyway. Don't tell us if you you don't like it down to us. Also Ted Cruz as the Zodiac is. It's a banger. I mean we love it and then he even like God his facial hair right now is is every time I see. And I'm like Ted Ted. There are a million reasons to hate your guts and maybe your facial hair is the most egregious crime of all. What's he got described as a handlebar moustache that connects to his sideburns? Maybe it's to distance himself from that sketch that makes awesome look like the Zodiac killer. which isn't even accurate at all? But I was fantastic loved in the same vein of of politicians being being being part of some sort of greater satanic slash illumine Audie Conspiracy let's go into my most favorite the thing we're talking about on this episode. I heard about this story and my days. As a casual alumina deep conspiracy theorist and it made me go mm-hmm coming of age in the time of George W Bush. We didn't dream. It could get any worse. As we've mentioned on the show Bush feels Trumpian retrospect like sleeping kitten who paints on a ranch with his grandkids. But Oh man especially spurred on. By far left Father Bush Bush was an anti Christ a war hawk in Eagles clothing an idiot marionette controlled by smarter and much more evil puppetmaster up at master. Mr Accidentally shoots guy while hunting Dick. Cheney Bush wants the target of the Corky left Saloum Nadi accusations musicians including mine. This was taken to an extreme by one article that would eventually go viral revealing dark secret regarding Giorgis his lineage. That is that his great grandfather was none other than a cult satanic royalty the beast six six six himself. Both Mr Allister croly. Now you may have thought it was Crowley but that is a A common misconception because of an Ozzy Osbourne Song because he mispronounced it He's Yeah I can't remember what the song is. That's Okay I've been saying.

"To you GMC podcast network i'm your host colleen and let's just talk about some weird stuff so i was thinking about bands the other day and i was like you know what would be interesting the weirdest bands that have ever existed and that exist now so let's talk about some weird bands that have existed did and actually exists now so let's start off with okay these names i'm going to butcher but bear with me so stall ago also known as ghoul ago so it's s. t. a. l. l. a. g. g. h. or g. u. l. a. g. g. h. so they seem to have two names and this consisted the band members from dutch in belgium so it was kind of like a mishmash of people and they were a black metal band now i love me some metal i really love me some metal but this sounds like a band i would not be into and this is why so they used to use actual mental patients in their music so on three of their albums they actually used i mental patients in these albums were between two thousand two and two thousand seven now one of their members worked at a mental hospital like they were somebody who worked there and they somehow got permission which i i don't know but they somehow got permission to use some of the patients in their stuff which either this mental hospital is absolutely terrible or for they were doing it and just said they got permission you know kind of thing but that's what they did they use these poor mental hospital patients kids in their music and they said they did this because they wanted act schule dark despair in the music which i think this is absolutely horrifying this terrible now i love metals like i've said before i love all types of metal and the one thing thing that bothers me with middle and i actually won't listen to their music even if i'm not a fan of it is the people that do dumb stuff like this so so i'm i don't know i feel like i've met a good amount of metal musicians going to concerts and whatnot but i and they've all been very sweet very kind and i've never met one that was not so i like to stick with people who are very sweet sweetened very kind you know in real life and that actually goes for a huge portion of metal bands so these are they're just some that are the exception i guess they're not all middle i promise but i thought i'd just throw that in there just who are not thinking oh middle bands hands are terrible they're not most of them are not terrible most of them are really nice people they just like really heavy music so let's move onto a punk metal band from seattle now this band is called an m. e. so just the letters and m an e. so oh they were one of the first extreme metal bands in the US i put air quotes around extreme metal you can't see it but i'm telling you i did not only their music extreme but the frontman kurt stroup ing it's s. t. r. u. e. a b i n g but kurtz drooping was actually convicted of murder in nineteen eighty-six because uh hold onto your lunch kids he chopped his mother into pieces with a hatchet which is absolutely terrible and oh oh i can't it's so terrible but after he was released surprise he was released in the first place the band actually got back together and continued continued to do music for a while but he ended up taking his own life in two thousand and five so i'm not sure sure i couldn't find exact excuse me exact dates for this but i'm not sure when he was released and came back but they they did end and they're no longer thing and this is probably for the best once again this is a metal band that just they're making bad names for for their music genre which is absolutely just horrifying let's move on to radio werewolf wolf now this one is a doozy so during the height of the satanic period hysteria that was in like around the mid eighties in america they were considered the most dangerous band in the world now this was is due to the notoriety of their vocalist zeena schreck script c. r. s. c. h. r. e. k. i i don't know maybe shrek but this is because xena was the daughter of anton lavazza now if you don't know who anton avai is he was actually the founder of the church of satan i also think he wrote the lake saito satanic bible as swell or something like that i've done some research into him his whole thing's really interesting if you want to hear podcast about it tweet me at GMC underscore underscore weird news but let's continue with this he so he's the founder of this and so in the music they actually i use nazi imagery necrophilia serial killers and mysterious cult rituals i don't know if it was just in their music allies probably only a mixture of in their music and also music videos so i do believe people thought they were very dangerous because it was really pushing the satanic church church i don't think they're doing anything bad i don't know you know let them do their thing but anyway they saw oh the big reason that this band was so big was because xena was the daughter of anton lefay and it was a big thing and then this is really this was when you know the santana church was really coming into the media and like they like i said earlier it was called satanic or they sit tanic panic said period i'm so sorry but it was during the panic panic hysteria which which was like i said to in the mid eighties in america so this really i think was what was kind of pushing them to the forefront or front and i do think they were probably using a lot of this material not to promote the satanic church but i think they were using it to really kind of just shock i think what they were after was a shock value i couldn't find anything anything that said anything about actual you know killings or murders or whatever that was associated to who radio werewolf but i really thought that you know i thought that they deserve a spot on this list because it is very strange that the daughter of somebody so big big makes a band and then just goes full force into the ridiculous with their imagery in their music i i i don't know once again this is just giving a bad name to music i understand using music videos and stuff like that as shock value and and that's actually really popular nowadays in music videos and also in just music in general i actually i am an award winning music video director i know it sounds like i'm tuned my own horn but i am an award winning music video director i've directed a good few music videos and i i try not to really go for shock value even if i do go i shock value it's like a second of something and not really the whole music video video because the shock value really pulls people in a does and it's a good selling point but at the same time i feel like you can really overdue it and then you turn into this band or you turn the band that you're doing the music video for in do just shock value in that's all the people are looking for at that point now i'm going to take a quick break when we come back we will continue with some more weird bands that exist and have existed this show built around the women of MMA from the UFC you see to the extreme cage fighting.

"Welcome to the calmed down a mini episode of American hysteria. This time I'm talking satanic panic with two of my friends and co-workers siblings will Rogers and Christian Rogers Anderson will is the writer behind skylark audio drama Blackwood an amazing series following three high school students who investigate a local urban legend, Kristen is American hysteria. Social media manager as well as co host with will on the hilarious horror podcast guide to the unknown. Today. The three of us discuss Satan's reign of the nineteen eighties as well as current returned to pop culture with the success of both Riverdale and the chilling adventures of Sabrina, we've covered the panic. Now, here's the calm down. Thank you as both for being here you for having us. I'm super excited about this. I love American stereo like to call them wonder siblings because they are experts in all things bizarre strange horror related. We're all insane. Scream Blair witch fans. I'm a giant fan. They that's where we diverge in opinion in certain areas. Yeah. The few areas so hope you're spelling wonder siblings w with the lead over it. Because I just feel that it's a little bit any other way. Yeah. And then you're like in those weird. I'm picturing you both in those outfits from the past when men would lift weights, and they were like the bathing suit kind of things, but they were like a tank top. That were was also shorts. A one it's what I wear all the time. Gorgeous, gorgeous, Kristen and will also have a lot. I mean, you guys have done stuff together forever. But you want to tell us about the unknown. Because that's your major thing. You're doing right now. Right. Yeah. Sure. Yes. So our podcast is called guides, the unknown. You can listen to it on like all podcast asp. But there's also a YouTube version, which is just the camera pointed at us as we go. So it's basically a show about anything that is spooky mysterious weird paranormal, and will and I each pick a topic every week and tell each other about it, and it's super fun kind of like a light hearted goofy. But often thoughtful look at the scary things in the world. It's a great show. These two are obviously hilarious and thoughtful people in various horrible, if you wanna watch them on YouTube. They're acute being I'm so today. Yeah, we are talking about part one of satanic panic. We're going to talk a little bit about what's coming next. And then we are also going to talk about two of the best shows on. Television. And that is not that's that's not an opinion on Riverdale and the chilling adventures of Sabrina, which both have tons of satanic panic themes. So we're gonna have a fun time today. So can you both kinda just give me your impressions of the first episode? What was it like for you guys? Listen to it. It was awesome. I mean, there's a lot of things that I was aware of in terms of the Tanic panic fear and craze. But I had never really heard Anton, lavar speak himself, and especially hearing him on what talk show was Joe pine. I think Joe pine favorite talk. She's a monster listening to that whole interview was so disturbing like that for me, not Anton avai Antonova was completely reasonable, and you know, nice. But that guy I mean, just saying like, basically, I hope your kids burn you alive. Like mazing, I hadn't zero awareness of the dungeons and dragons story, I did not know that it had ties to satanism whatsoever. So like, I knew that there is obviously some satanic imagery, particularly in like the Riverdale arc that we're in talk about later. But I didn't know that dean D itself had that kind of angle and had that kind of fear behind it. So it really tied it together for me. I was like, oh, I get what's going on here. And then it made me understand the river. Riverdale arc more of like having a concept of there being sort of like overlords who were pulling the strings and using the game to like create real life situations. It's crazy that people thought that that was going on it's mind blowing, and it was mind blowing watching the show unfold. I was working on this episode. But I'm gonna talk about that CO at a second. But what about would you guys think about Mike Warren key? Wait, Woohoo was Mike Warren key, so Mike Warren key will wrote the Satan seller, and he was the one that pretended like he was in the satanic cult. And I mean, we didn't I didn't even include half of the shit that this dude claimed, but it was like, yeah. And that's he's the. One that said that he would he like stopped. He commanded everyone to stop on that woman's hands until she agreed to have sex rights. And I just think the it's just baffling to me that all you have to do is say, I am born again, and you're supposed to just have all these like that. That's so intense to me, it is crazy, and I feel like what a weird like embarrassing outing because it wasn't it that like somebody kind of was like, oh, this guy was very straight laced lake nerd actually during the time that he says all these things happened. Like, I don't know what he's talking isn't that he was being soda fountain ranking little snivelling little fucking. So much. Yeah. No. I mean of all the things of all the sports to croquet playing croquet plagues little shit. I can feel the sweater tied around his shoulders that is the opposite of satanism. He had to be humiliated was this guy like run out of dodge. Kristen do you think that Mike warranty was humiliated? Do you think of man with a psychologist like MAC and experience mediation? He can't. And that's what sucks he claimed that double down he double. Well, he he relented a little and said he had exaggerated. I think he said he exaggerated because the cost was so important or something, and it wasn't twelve hundred members of his or fifteen hundred or whatever it was actually fifteen but the of it was always there like it. Always it always stayed the same, and he still claims all of those things and he claims that he was eating people's fingers. And like because that was a big thing they cut off people's fingers, eight pinky fingers odd. Yeah. More like he was eating finger sandwiches on. Croquet pitch. But right now, let's talk about Riverdale and Sabrina. Let's go Sabrina. I so we know what we know about Sabrina. She's part of the church of night. Yes tonight. She's part of the church of Satan. They're using the language of organize satanism in this show. And it's it's so fascinating. And they're getting sued. Right. What do you guys know about that? Yeah. I think it got settled now. Right. So like they were sued by the church of Satan and net settled for some insane amount of money because the church of Saint objected to the way that specifically the bathroom at statue was used. So that's that statue in the academy of unseen arts. It's like that goat's head holding up one hand in one hand down like that. If you think of like, Satan statue, you would probably think of the bathroom at so I know that satanism doesn't like the way that it was portrayed as a whole in Sabrina. But seems like using what they're saying is a trademarked statue. Permission was their way in to kind of lakes and getting something called it. They called it in their press release or whatever like a a piece of satanic panic fiction. So they're even calling back to like, they're very much aware that Riverdale and Sabrina are both doing are kind of like reintroducing these themes, and I think that that what I do think is a problem that they are over estimating the cultural reaction to this because in the eighties. Yes. Like if this came on the eighties. It would have been crazy. But like we're at a different time. We're pretty familiar with this stuff. Yeah. Is it also maybe like a frustration that like, no, you you put your boot on our head and told us to shut up and that we were weird. And you wish that Antonova would be chopped up and eaten by his kids. Like, and now you wanna have this g wilko's? You know, like cute adventure show about a girl that worships the dark one the sabbatical goat. How dare you? You said you hated this. And now you mean that's fair. I think are we are we free to spoil Riverdale and Sabrina Amish. I guess we should say we're going to spoil it right now. And then just do it. If you like what are you doing out yet get on? It's a Deloitte, really bitterest. Yeah. Uh-huh. This is not a spoiler. This is the basic premise of the show. I feel the idea of Sabrina as a witch who is part of a household that is part of the church of Satan. She's coming of age, and it's time for her to sign her name in the devils ledger. And she essentially says, no, I don't want to be part of this. You know, this patriarchal it's so funny that it's like the clean reverse of of Christianity. On purpose. Yes. Definitely the point one hundred percent. And it's like it's very fascinating to see. How it develops from there? All right. That's over. I'm going to spoil something now. Please slow it. Okay. It's shocking to me. It was genuinely shocking to me that on this show Sabrina our protagonist who we are supposed to completely be on her side. One hundred percent of the time. There is a prolonged arc of the story during which she slits someone's throat killing them. Well, it was all. Yeah. She knew that she was bringing them back. I'm short. So like, oh, you're just gonna work for sure you you're just going to be magical garden, and it's just like for sure gonna work. Lightest variables. It's true. She is so sure of everything though, I find Sabrina a bit of a dumb ass by. Well, she's a teen. Totally. But she is. So sure that everything she does is a good idea. Like, I felt that her kind of stumble into Necora Mansi, which would have obviously very serious repercussions. It is so weird that it shouldn't think about any of them. So William I agree with your she's supposed to be our protagonist by found myself. So many times being like what is wrong with this girl? I think more than that even more than trying to figure out what her motivation was was the sudden realization that this is a show like modern storytelling for teenagers has come so far from being like, oh we used to really question whether Cory Matthews had a crush on that girl at the ski lodge. No my God. See did of course. And now teenagers are watching their protagonists their hero. Literally have her friend Neil in front of her and slice her throat blood gushes out. And then we cut to the next scene and she's getting coffee with her friends like nothing happened. And we're all like, yeah. Yeah. I'm in on this. "Focused on the life of an Tom avai born on April eleventh, nineteen thirty in Chicago, Illinois as a teenager. He spent his time at carnivals and circuses working as a musician and lion tamer as he grew older. He developed an interest in the occult. We also covered the founding of the church of Satan on April thirtieth nineteen sixty six and organization centered around rational freethinking and disdain for the hypocrisy of Christianity. It's members were sceptical atheists who advocated materialism and individualism in this episode will focus on how the church evolved as Antonova became more popular, particularly among members of the entertainment industry. We'll also look at his loss of control over the church and examine why some of the base followers, abandoned him finally will examine how the cult is faired since le's death in two. Thousand one. On February first nineteen sixty seven less than a year after the formation of the church of Satan and tunnel bay was asked to perform a satanic wedding ceremony for two of its members. John, Raymond, the groom was a politically radical journalist. Judith case. The bride was a New York socialite and daughter of a prominent attorney due to their notoriety, the wedding became a huge news item on the day of the ceremony reporters and photographers from newspapers all around the world gathered at the black house to witness the event, it was considered so important that Joe Rosenthal. The photographer who captured the iconic shot of soldiers raising the American flag on Iwo Jima was assigned by the San Francisco Chronicle to cover the wedding the crowd was so big that police were forced to cordon off the area ever the showman.
