"The vibe you got going on, Corey. Well, you have an old man producing for use. It's good for preventing any sort of saber rant. Might you might be fired up coming into a segment, but it's like, cool, smooth. Nobody screams coming out of a yacht rock break. I guess that's true. That's right. Yeah, you can't You can't have a rant with yacht Rock underneath. I mean what we can find out. I mean, there's we could push the envelope and see what we can do here. What should we talk about? That'll get us each other angry. Could do that. Interesting. Not a big yacht rock guy, By the way, just perfectly alright. You're a normal person. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's such a great answer to end. You're a normal person. You're normal person Seemed like a normal person is fine. Yeah, I still can't get over How weird this Kurt Warner movie looks. I'm still thinking about it was so weird. Real, uncanny Valley kind of stuff, just like is this football? It doesn't look like football. The fans in the background looks like a video game from a long time ago. So that that tweet do you remember when they first put the fake fans into baseball games last year, and they looked like fans from the show like they would kind of stand up and also at the same time. Yeah. Is it those kinds of fans? That's what it looks like, You know, they're kind of faded, so maybe they're trying to get away with it. So that you don't notice. Is this a Disney joint? It's got a Disney feel no Lions gate. Oh, Lions Gate was It's either that or it's got that like Christian Hallmark kind of vibe to also was Kurt Warner, the next guy football story that needed a movie. Mm. There was nothing else. I mean, he's got a good story. He worked at a grocery store. He played Arena League football and boom. He won the Super Bowl and wasn't MVPs also on TV all the time. Yeah. Like he's not unknown. He's a hall of Famer. Yeah, he had a second run with the Cardinals. That was awesome. Like I don't know, like maybe he was the next movie. I mean, he is the next movie being made clearly like it's happening. But did you just did Did he deserve it? This is the question and I can't think of a better one. So The part. I'm going to want to see I'm not going to get which is I want to watch the greatest show on turf again. And I'm just not gonna know you're gonna get you're gonna get Chuck throw, maybe throwing football passes, which we can decide whether it was actually going to. That's right. Stunt double. Um I could go for a movie. Just Tim Tebow stinking the entire time. Give me that one. I don't need a good story. Just can I? I've watched that I'm so sick of that guy and like you'll sell tickets, a Tim Tebow movie People love it. Lead it right up if you don't usually get those kinds of sports biopics, but they're portrayed as, like, write comedies that that's Yeah. Look, give me a Tim Tebow dark comedy would be pretty good. It's just people cutting them. Been telling him that he stinks. And there's there's no happy ending. It just ends when it ends. Yep, that's fine. No, he's trying out for the Jaguars now and then That's it. That's right. I'm a tight end. Now. Everybody was then. Yeah. Well, that's how that ended time. Um, we're talking some hockey with Joe your din also with Anthony's Shandra earlier, um and we didn't get to a question that I posed on Twitter earlier that I don't know what the answer is yet we really got to dive through it. How many Sabres? Are we sure. Are going to be on the roster at the beginning of next season like today, how many guys it doesn't have to be Sabres? How many guys do we know we're going to be on the team? I think It might be limited to one hand, they gotta have, like 23. Well. Well, they're gonna have 23 eventually. That's right. But I think 18 of those spots might be up in the air. At least a little bit up in the air. Skinner is is an easy yes because of the contract. It's uh but should I even hedge on that? They're going to probably should ask him to waive his no movement clause for the expanding. Listen. I mean, if they can pull it off like great, I mean, cool that they got out from underneath that it's going to be cool that he's going to go and the pasta will still be here. That's cool. Well, here is also the thing about Skinner's contract. Is You don't need to do it as a cap dump. This year, in fact, the best way forward with Skinner You. You don't you don't give someone First round pick. Well, you're not gonna give me your first overall pick anyway, if you're not gonna give them a future first round pick to see Jeff to take Jeff Skinner's contract. You're not. You're not the Leafs when they did that with Patrick Marleau, where you knew you were picking in the twenties. You don't do that. And You're going to have to reach the cap floor. I did it just to kind of run through roster mock up the other day where I tried to get like the youngest team possible, cause that's what I would want to do for savers. GM was like 16 million short of the cap floor. It wasn't even close, And that was with Skinner on the roster. You take Skinner off the roster, and you were, like $30 million of salary that you're going to need, And that's with trading Eichel and Reinhardt by the way and wrestling in, um so maybe that's maybe that's why you can keep Brian Hart because honestly, you can afford it. Need it. Yeah, you honestly needed and Skinner. I think Skinner's here nobody's taking that contract. Seattle's not taking them if you expose them. And let him play first line minutes for a season. See if the numbers come back up, and then you'll have one of two options that we can keep going. This isn't as bad as we thought or two. Well, maybe he's actually tradable now. Right now. I believe my number one center with Skinner. Yes, it will be number to get him to 30 goals again. I think that player is still in there. I think Ralph Krueger did not even want to try to get the most out of Jeff Skinner. Do you want to attempt it? And I want to think that the underlying numbers and the scoring chances they would tell you that there is still a good offensive hockey player in there and that he's not shocked and I want to explore that. And this is the year to do that. This is a year to find out whether or not he shot Yeah, I I agree with that. And I mean, I want aspirin here. I want Rooster line in here. Uh, York seemed to be all right. But like their their bottom six have always been bad. Since this has been a problem here, and it seemed like once Granado showed up. You had guys further down. The roster, producing for the first time in a long time. I don't want to screw that up. So if they have guys down there who can play those minutes? Your third line your fourth on minutes and get production. Please don't ruin that. Find a way to keep that going and and keep that moving..

"I know. Everybody wants the topic to be able to jump to the NHL right away, and he could But man like there's something to be said about taken another year to get, you know, to improve yourself and get better and then show up to, you know, show up in another year and be able to dominate right away like that. To me. There's no issue with that. I know there's going to be pressure. No doubt because you know, Sabres are looking for that next big star to come up, you know, from out of the draft, but, man, if they're not, the sabers aren't going to be very good next year and Michigan could win a title. Go in the title of Michigan and come back Come back in a year. Come back at the end of the year, maybe Play a couple of games in March or April. "Done on Twitter also heard Thursdays on that hockey show podcast. Um Joe, We spent a lot of time on Michael, obviously, and we kind of refer to Eichel. It's almost like a foregone conclusion that he will get traded whenever His name comes up in these discussions. Is it right to do the same thing with Sam Reinhart? Like, Can you see? Can you see him signing any type of extension with the Sabres this offseason and him on the roster at the beginning of the year? You know this one's a little bit more difficult. I mean, our last impression of Sam is just how It's just I mean, I don't know if this interested in is the word for it. But, like, just you know how out of it. He was You know that that you know the exit exit interview day where he just seemed like You know, the last thing you want to do is think about hockey. The last thing you want to do is just talk about the savers. Last thing you want to do is talk about potential future contract here. They just wanted nothing to do with. You Just want to get home and and get started on the off season where You know, I mean, it's a bad impression to leave everybody with, but I mean, I can understand it, obviously, but, um, but as far as the trade, I don't know that part of me is left thinking about how don Granado put him in a position. Where you put him at center, and he had a lot of success and center this year with a team that was not good and a team that was missing. You know, it's best player and I see that and I'm like, I'm just kind of thinking like if I'm Sam Reinhart I don't know if I'm doing a one year deal. I have to know that I'm possibly getting traded. At the deadline, because if you're not going to sign You know, if you're not thinking long term signing with Buffalo, you're probably not thinking of staying at all. So I think if that's the position, though, and if the negotiation says, like, Listen, we only want to do a one year deal on the sabers. I have to treat them right, because because you can't welcome to free agency and get nothing, but that's That's the whole thing. I mean, Yeah. You can keep them until the deadline and then trade them to trade him wherever he wants to go or trade him. Whoever gets you the best deal, But I think right now you get the best value because you can send them to a team where you get you get the best package. And then it's on that team to get him signed. Now. I mean, that might be a stipulation. Of a deal where, like if they can get a long term contract works out and then they'll complete the deal. But Um But I mean, if if, if his position is that he's not willing to sign long term of Buffalo, you have to move them. I don't think you have a choice in that. And how long would the deal have to go before you consider it long term and I ask that because it's not a deal. I had thought a lot about. But when Anthony Shandra from expected buffaloes on at one o'clock, he mentioned a scenario where, like a three year deal would be something that Reinhardt would consider signing with the Sabres. If it's a three year deal, you're still I mean, you've got free agency coming at the end of that, but I don't know. Like at least you've got time like you've got time to see if you can fix it before having to move on from him. If that was the deal that was on the table. Is that long enough term for you where you think That's a good idea for the Sabres? Think three years is a really interesting one because it walks them up to like what age 29 or so and 28? Yep, 28. Yeah, So, like the mythical, maybe well, it's not medical, really the kind of proven drop off point Age Wise is around 29 or 30 when production starts to starts to wane. But I think in Reinhardt's case like we've seen him this past year, he scored the affordable 40 goal pace. And he was finally playing at centre and to me that speaks That's a guy who could be very valuable. Um, and I think if you sign him to a three year deal, maybe I mean, if he's willing to do that, um I think that's something that could really work to Buffalo's benefit because suddenly they would have an absolute number one center if they trade jacks like that's fine because Granado Trust limit center and you're going to get his peak performance years still And then you know, maybe he still gets paid on the back. End of it. Maybe he wants to stay in Buffalo after who knows? Maybe in three years, Things are straightened out to a point here where he wants to stay. But, um But I don't know if three years is the way he wants to go about. I mean, the last two times his contract has come up. The Sabres have dropped the ball on getting a long term deal done with him, and they've chosen to go bridge deal each time and now now he has some seasons that he did last year, and suddenly it's like well. We do long term now, and he's like you know what? No bad situation you know, like like it's it's the word. It's. It's the culmination of all fears really when when it comes to dealing with things like this, and I think if I'm Sam, if I'm getting offered three years by buffalo, I'm like, Well, you should have offered this, you know, three years ago. Right? Do you happen to nut? Hallmark is not a guy. We've talked a lot about recently, but he's going to hit for agency at the end of the month. I mean, I've heard nothing or read anything. I think about all mark in his situation. Doesn't it seem like we're kind of headed for They'll just find whoever will play for them and get them through a year until.

"And we're not really talking much football. We did a lot yesterday. We did a lot on Friday and then also the first hour. Of today's show, but I don't want to get some hockey mixed, especially Sal doing 10 to 12 little more football flair in that time slot than you normally would get. So we had Anthony Shandra from expected buffalo on at one o'clock, And now we bring in Joe Yard in the noted jerk AP died by the blade, Joe. Thanks for joining me here on the Western Hotline. How you doing today? Doing great job. It's good to be back on talking with you. You had a pretty good take the other day on the NBA Finals. I'm trying to make you want to make sure it was you. I'm looking through your Twitter throwback uniforms for the NBA Finals. 100% How good I need two bucks eighties jerseys, and then I need the sun, nineties jersey or even their eighties jurors and honestly, like, Yeah, just do it that way. I mean, I know some people love those bucks nineties jerseys from like the Ray Allen Todd Day. Days with like the giant deer on the front, But like I don't know, man. I'm old school. As I love those like Carrie Cummings, Ricky Pierce jerseys from the eighties and Yeah, just give me those all the time, man Like those are the best looks. Yeah, they are throwback uniforms for the sons. I love especially I don't think I've even seen The Bucks ones. I have to look them up. Um, but I have an idea of what they are in my head. So Yeah, I I like it for the NBA the NHL Finals. By the way, we were just kind of riffing about this in the last segment. Me and Corey. Like I don't know if we can figure out really like who were rooting for like of these markets, like much depends much like Montreal hasn't won in a while. But you've 24 Stanley Cups in Tampa just one last year. You have the Super Bowl. Whereas NBA finals right now like I could make the case that you should root for both markets, Phoenix says just the Diamondbacks Championship World Series from the early two thousands. That's pretty much it and then Milwaukee is one since the seventies. Mm. Yeah, I mean, Don't know, NBA one. I'm just kind of like I'm in that. I hope both teams have fun spot. You know, Like like, if either team wins. I think it's pretty awesome. I mean, obviously, you know, Phoenix hasn't won it before. And you know they're 93 team ran headlong into the bulls. So it's like, you know, Barclay had that unreal season that year, and you just say, Michael Jordan, and that's good luck. That's how you're not winning that. But like with Tampa, Montreal, I've been really surprised to hear a lot of people around Buffalo being okay with being okay with Montreal winning and I'm like they're way more history here with the haves like I'm surprised more Sabres fans are more like you know the hell with the house. Let's you know, Let's sample what it again. I don't care, but I don't know. A lot of lot of Sabres fans don't like the Southern teams winning For you know, for provincial reasons, which I mean, I guess I get that too, but but I don't know if he winning the Stanley Cup twice in 10 months. That's pretty special thing. If it happens, yeah, last year, too like they wanted in Edmonton, like their fans were. I'm sure enjoyed it. But not maybe the same extent as if you know if they win it tonight, especially on home ice. Um, Joe, we brought you on, of course, Talk a lot about the Sabres that you wrote about at the AP last week. I think it was about Michael surgery and the status of that What? We were just kind of wondering and speculating because you wouldn't really be able to know this without inside information. But doesn't it sound right that If the Sabres doctors are preaching rest and rehab that Over the course of enough time. I mean, if it's not working, wouldn't you think surgery has to come into play at some point? I mean, he might not be on the team. By the time that point happens, but it's just a thought that I've had. Yeah, To me. That seems like the eventuality Just because her knee I mean I said I'm not a doctor. I'm not even gonna pretend to be one on the radio here, but, uh, but I mean, a herniated disc in the neck just does not sound pleasant in any sort of way. I can't imagine trying to play hockey with that kind of with that kind of ailment. Because I imagine it's painful. I imagine it makes doing basic things very annoying at the very least, if not painful, um and you know, playing hockey. I mean, you're always at risk for having some kind of You know, some kind of injury at some point. I mean, we saw last season the last game that he played. It was against the Islanders and you've got shoved from behind by cases of Zika and then the last, you know, Last time we saw him on the bench was him like rubbing his neck just being, you know, and Pretty, You know, pretty considerable pain. So I mean, like those kinds of things can happen. You know if you're digging into the corner or some, you know, some guy comes truck it in from behind and plows you over. That could you know that could put you on put you on the injured list for a long time. So, uh, you know, I mean, as far as I'm concerned, but, you know, I get you know Well, all things considered. What Eichel seems to want to do is kind of experimental, but I know the view has been taken from from the Sabres and from other people saying that you know it is an experimental surgery that you know elite athletes haven't had it done on him. But I'm like, I don't know if an M A guys had that surgery and has been able to Continue his career. I would argue that Emma is a lot more physical and a lot more dangerous than the NHL is. Yeah. Where are you at in a trade right now. You would. Would you say you're closer to optimistic or closer closer to pessimistic on what the return will end up looking like if Michael is traded? I don't know. A lot of the experts seem to be kind of throwing up throwing a blanket on on things. And I should say the insiders and in saying that they, you know, the saber should basically take whatever you know Whatever good offer they get which I don't know. I don't know about that to me. Iculs, a top 10 player in the NHL. Yes, there's there's the worry about the next Um, but I mean, you're not completing a trade without you know, without him getting a physical without getting looked at in the first place. And you know to me like that's you know, I think that's the the thing that happens If he clears a team's physical, you're getting a top 10 player and that you should have to pay the price for for what a top 10 player. Get you, You know, I mean, that's at the first round pick. It's it's a top prospect. And it's probably somebody you know a younger, you know, top player on the roster like that's that to me. Seems like what the deal should at least be. So you know what? What? It seems like a lot of the, um Discussion about this trade is going on through reporters. Uh, um You know where, you know we're hearing. You know, we're hearing stuff where, you know, Um, you know, they're the Sabres asking prices, you know, super high and you know, than other teams. You know, other guys are saying, Well, these teams don't want to give up anything and I'm like, well Your your middle point in between seems to be where the Sabres are ultimately aiming because if you're if a team is willing to give you that super package that's the Sabres supposedly are asking for great. If you have to, like negotiated down to find that soft middle point That's probably where Kevin Adams is aiming anyways. Joe you're done is on the West. "But, um, yeah. Hey, If Anaheim's willing to pay, you can go anywhere Yeah, a couple more minutes with Anthony Shandra from expected buffaloes on the Western Hotline. Jodi BOC filling it for one bills live doing some hockey today in the mid point of today's show. Um, I hate to label you as the analytics guy. But being as someone that I would consider my analytics knowledge to be pretty entry level, Um what did you think of the sand venture a higher from the Sabres this past weekend. Absolutely loved it. I loved it. So Sam Ventura is one of those names any. You know, He's There's like five or six guys right there in girls in the animal X community who are talked about just so frequently, and it was almost a running joke on analysts Twitter like, Yeah, the Sabres have hired everybody out of Pittsburgh except Sam Ventura, who would probably provide them the most value and When that news dropped. It was brought to fresh air and kind of a relief for me. Personally, I just I think that There's always been this guy's of. Yeah, we're looking at the data in the city, you know, coming from the front office you had night in gallon moving up to a more important spot. But nobody really knew what Jason Nightingale was doing right? And he wasn't like this revered name in the animal. This community As we heard more and more it was like is he Is he really looking deep in analytics? Or is he looking at? Uh, like high danger? Metrics? Is it like, How deep is this going? Um I think the move to San Ventura means a more kind of all encompassing more detailed approach to analytics and Tell you what I mean. The Pegula has talked about it, and they wanted to go economic efficient and sustainable or whatever, whatever. The three words were, Um, Analytics is a great way to do it. If you're going to Moneyball it, Moneyball do it right. And, you know, hire an analyst for X amount of dollars rather than hiring a free agent for eight million. If you think that's going to fix your team, um No, no, I'm in full support of the higher It's something you know a nerd's wanted the Sabres to pursue for a long time. Someone with that reputation and Just the pedigree he has, and you know the notoriety of what he does, and one thing that shouldn't be overlooked as it adds stability to another piece of the front office and and just as an organization in general that Doesn't have a ton of stability, you know, from top to bottom, So I like it. It's a good reputation. Movie. Looks good, Lee wide. Yeah, no, no complaints from me. I like the sound of it, too, that he comes from Pittsburgh, where he was director of a of hockey operations and strategy. Maybe it was his title with the Penguins, but I know he's got the relationship with Jason Karmanos Sabre System, GM that Really? I mean, he He got a lot of credit when they hired the Sabres as late. This is the guy that kind of built up the Penguins Analytics department. Why is Ventura leaving Pittsburgh to come here? Of course. A lot of it would be the relationship with Karmanos. But The reason on top of all of what you just said that I like this is this guy's gonna have say in the organization. He wouldn't have left Pittsburgh if he what if he wouldn't Right. I was going to say a certain increase in autonomy is probably what it is playing a bigger part. And I mean, I think it's every analyst dream to take something that's broken and use the data to fix it. Try and fix it, right. I mean, we talked about why would he come to Buffalo Butt? We forget that these guys are motivated, driven people, and they want to fix problems. I mean, that's the whole name of the game. That's all what Moneyball is all about. You know, you go to, uh, Boston, write a franchise. That's good. Every year. It's like, Yeah, you're contributing, and it's important, but they've already got the secret sauce. If you want to be the secret sauce, you want to invent it, so I think it's a challenge for him, and I think he's going to have a little more power to do what he wants and really take something that's at rock bottom and bring it up and show what his knowledge and what his expertise can do. Great stuff. Anthony Shandra from expected Buffalo, Anthony, Thanks again for joining me, man and look forward to the next chat. Yeah. Thanks for having me, Joe. Yeah, you too. You can follow Anthony on Twitter. Hold on. I gotta bring his, uh, his Twitter He's got he's got. It's not quite just his name that you can just radioactive Anthony Shandra on Twitter. Not every can get their name. T b t B A n T. H is how you follow Anthony on Twitter. One of the best follows on savers. Twitter, by the way, so make sure that you are following him. The guy who does the analytics has a code word for his Twitter handle. That's weird. How that He's also got his, uh, should match this with when he was on him. He's got a Tony Kahn e w uh the thing is, is like wallpaper on his Twitter profile. It's pretty funny. Uh oh, yeah. "News playing magnificently well with with, you know, kind of a patchwork roster really injured roster so I think he's a great guy to kind of like, lead this renovated core. We're probably going to see, um But yeah, I would say it's a 50 50 right now. I'm not confident to place a bet. Either way, whether he's here or not, If I'm Sam Reinhart, I don't know why I would sign a long term deal here. But maybe he likes it. Maybe he you know they offer him captaincy or something enticing. Um But I think one of the options chat gave me on. The maxim was to take right hard on a three year deal at 7.7 point five million per year, which Mm. Not quite as long of term as I wanted. But you know, in that simulation that was the most he was willing to do so in light of that I elected to go with the trade so Again. It's I'm not going to argue with either side of the debate of of what I did there. I see the merits both ways. And you know, it's up to me. I'd love to have Sam around for this kind of Next rebuild. Anthony Shandra from expected Buffalo on the West. Her hotline. How about on and Michael trade? Would you consider yourself closer to optimistic, optimistic or pessimistic that are of what's going to come in return for for a nickel deal? I don't know that I'm I'm either. I think my expectations are tempered a little bit just because of what I've heard and I don't want people to, um Misunderstanding just how much his shoulder situation is going to be a factor here. I even heard rumblings that you know their teams might be protecting themselves in like he must play X amount of games or else you've got to give me something right And again. This is all conjecture and just people talking. But Um I think it's a bigger deal than the public is kind of making it out to be or just, you know the Twitterverse. Let's say it is making it out to be where yes, you know you'd want as egress or a Drysdale on top of that third overall pick from, say, Anaheim, but I don't know how far into the realm of possibility. That is, um During the mark. We did the XB chat offered me throat overall Lucas soft off Adam Henrique as a cat dump and maximum Comptoir, and I think that's probably going to be pretty close to the kind of compensation you see in in an illegal trade. Most of the value in that deal. At least I would think the most obviously valuable piece in a deal like that would be the third overall pick with Anaheim. Um and do you have a guy in mind when you said you? That's the offer that you took? I heard on the podcast that you were close. Maybe taking there was a Colorado 12. Um, but the third overall pick offer is is that are you taking that? Are you liking that offer more than others because you have a guy in mind for the third overall pick for the Sabres. Yeah, I think having I think there's there's three main guys, Uh and there's a bunch of talent was draft and we know the NHL draft is a crapshoot. I know it's seen as a weak draft. Um But I think at the top there's there's a balance right if it doesn't have that bonafide sure things stud right at the very top, so it's seen as weaker, but I think that's how five there's a real opportunity to collect their so having two picks in the top five is very good. Um I don't think that was what really swayed that deal so much free, third overall. Fantastic. And believe me, if I can guarantee myself I've kind of gone to the foregone conclusion that the Sabres are going to take Owen Power first overall, whether I agree with that or not. If they get third overall, unless they do something wacky. They're guaranteeing themselves one of many urban areas of William Macklin, who are in my opinion, the top two forwards in the drop. So I want to come away with one of those two guys, which my third overall means a lot to me and one thing not to sleep on him that Anaheim Ducks trade scenario is Maxine Come to us because at this 10.22 years old In my opinion, he's a bonafide second line winner, and he's still growing. Um So he's a sneaky, valuable asset. That's uh, I don't think should be overlooked again. I know it's not does have the pageantry of something that involves zebras or dry spell, but I don't think it's bad compensation, especially crude bag with shoulder question Marks, who You have all but postured your way into trading him. So the optics are bad, the shoulders a question mark, and I think maybe overestimating what he's going to get back. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. And I love the rumors that Kevin Adams is saying, You know, I want the equivalent of four first round picks. I think he should set the price really high. Think that's a fantastic move. Um At the end of the day. We shouldn't forget. He doesn't have to create Jack legal. He's probably going to. But if he goes in with the kind of moxie right that I don't have to trade this guy, he could up his return. So I like his approach and You don't put again. I don't think we should get our expectations. Super hide because, like really surprised unless he pulls off some magic if you get a vigorous type and third overall and another piece We'll see. Don't don't you think? By the way I don't have you thought about this from the Ducks end that and this doesn't have to be. The Ducks made you think of this from the blue Jackets and or the King's, however much they might be in on this, But whenever the Ducks come up, it's in the back of my mind Like, why are they doing this? Do they really think that they can be a contender with Jack Eichel in the next couple of years? Because They've got Rickel. That's approaching 30 and Lindholm's going to be a free agent. And Silverberg is 30 like, I don't know that that seems like a team that I would think might be prime to do what the Sabres are doing and tear it all down. But I'm not Bob Murray. Right? I would think of the teams we've heard. You know surrounding, you know Eichel rumors? I think l a would be the team that makes the most sense from from an L A standpoint, right? But I agree with your take on Anaheim. I don't think they're one Jack Eichel away from being a family Cup contender. I think it's the kind of thing the Sabres fool themselves into. Kind of regularly. I mean, last year is a great example where they thought they were a Taylor hall away from being a serious contender. And they weren't even close. So yeah, I don't I don't think this is a great decision from Anaheim scarred. They've got a lot of futures. They've got a good, um Stockpile of future picks and prospects, but I don't know that they should just be spending them all on one guy here, Despite how great that guy is. I don't know that he single handedly pushing them over the top. Whereas l A has a much better supporting cast that got a lot better depth and even more impressive prospect pool so In terms of a fit for a buying team. I think l a would make the most sense..

"Sneaky Jodi VSE. Damn it, who typed a question mark on the TelePrompTer. For the last time Anything you put on that prompter Burgundy will read not W g R Sports radio. Five Vicky. You're kitsch. Your kitsch is what we have shortage Shirk shirk its corkage. Yeah, that sounds right. I'll buy it Sure. Your kids? Yeah, For sure. Why not? I've been looking for pronunciation guide. Usually the AP gives you one or somebody does. I haven't found one yet. When I find it. I'll make sure we got it. Right. But that sounds right. Give me give me an S. C at the beginning of the first name like Shandra instead of a C Z At the end, I melt into oblivion. Whatever you give me a name like that Zechariah wrong for, like 10 years in this time, Okay, but that one we weren't really We weren't really told on that one. I think until he left, but you're right. That's happened has happened a lot. Speaking of Sandra Anthony Shandra from expected Buffalo joins me now on the Western hotline, and they don't know it's your first time on W G. R. Welcome to station. It is. And thanks for having me, Joe excited to be here. Thanks for coming on Anthony from expected Buffalo, the podcast as well as the website. You follow them on Twitter and expected buffalo. Uh, at D b t B A. N. T. H is Anthony's Twitter handle if you don't follow him there. And he's become a bit of, uh, Sabre Twitter royalty in the in the last couple of weeks, tagging the Donnie meatballs nickname, which I don't know. I can't believe you would have thought it would have become a thing like it did. It's one of the most unintentional things I've ever done in my life. Um And people who follow me. No, I tweet a lot of like, goofy stuff during games. And, um yeah. You know th Thompson the pterodactyl like just random nicknames that really I don't ever anticipate to stick and, uh People kind of like crazy with that one. So I'm glad they're having fun with it, But yeah, 100% unintentional. Yeah, but he is probably going to be Dani meatballs for eternity. Now, at least among Sabre fans. So you did your roster simulation for expected buffalo. I'm not going to ask you to get into all of it because I know you want people to go out and listen to the podcast. Um, but among the moves that you made as playing Kevin Adams In this simulation. Um, that you did for expected buffalo. Was there a move whether it be a trade signing expansion draft? Was there a move that you liked the most for the Sabres? You felt most strongly that they should do in real life. Well, I think it's uh, you know, a culmination of everything. I think the biggest goal I had in doing that was renovating the farm system. Um Our team that struggled for so long. The laborers had a very poor farm system. I think you know most rankings would have it. You know, bottom 10 and even that's a little generous. Someone having bottom five so For a team that's so bad having nothing really going on the farm is, you know it kind of acted Emphasizes the issue a little bit, so my main goal was to get as many futures as I could not necessarily graphics. You know, the prospects that are relatively close to NHL readiness was one of the goals so Um I'll tell you. The move that stuck out to me is the most difficult was the, uh, simulated proposal I got for Sam Reinhart. Which was the L. A kings offered me Alex Turk out. Eighth overall and Jonathan Quick as a cap dump. Him and hard about that one for a solid five minutes because I love Sam Reinhart and, uh, Going into the SIM. He was part of my plan. I was going to resign him and a lot of what I was going to do was predicated on keeping him and Chad hit me with that offer, and and I took it and I kind of had to wing a lot of things after that, because it was definitely not the plan I went in with, but Some of the most interesting and the one that's definitely sport spurred the most debate from listeners. That would be the one Yes, Chad, by the way, chaired the ministers who was also on this morning. We've had both expected Buffalo guys on here. On the station today. That's on demand. If you want to catch that, Um yeah, that is a tough offer to say no to Turcotte, eight. I mean, those that's the type of deal you've seen people mock for Even Eichel. So to get that for right now, But you say you want your plan going into this was kind of revolving around re signing him. What kind of sense? Do you get just from reading things and and and and talking about it that Reinhart is open to staying here because I don't know that it's a foregone conclusion. But It just seems a customary that a lot of us have just kind of whatever we talk about Reinhart's with the assumption that he's going to get traded in that he wouldn't sign a long term deal here. But I mean, of course, if he would You'd want to keep them. Yeah, For sure. And so I think of the three main core guys and Everyone knows my feelings on risk aligning, but the guys I'm referring to arrest Mr slain in Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart of those three core guys who have been talked about the most recently trade, I think Reinhardt is the least likely to be traded now. I'm not saying that he's unlikely to be traded. I just think he's the least likely of the three. Um Yeah, I'd like to build around him. I think I think the one thing that works kind of in our favor for those who want Sam to stick around is the fact that don Granado has spoken so glowingly of him every time he's been asked and You really commended how Reinhardt stepped up when I go went down with injury, How he kind of Assume the role of the leader of such a young team to close out last season..
