"Game thus far I'd and it for brown Phil general manager Mike Tannenbaum Anthony Salter football frenzy ESPN radio the ESPN app SiriusXM channel lady presented by progressive insurance all callers via the shell pencil performance line I know it's early it's only the first quarter but real early observations thus far from you Mike on this forty Niners Packers seven oh game right now serves as co well Tate Kyle shares a great play caller and I was a freaking great call on third down thirteen seven thirty six yard touchdown run by road he bolstered who is a great straight line runner meaning if there's an opening he can really hit it and go he's explosive and third down play calling well when you can change of the White House and those with the sub runs it's so hard to defend because everything's about past Russian match ups in the passing game I think he's really affect about that and on the other side of it we've talked about it this way for Green Bay to win this game or stay close is he got a winner for second down Nick Bosa had a sack but it was on third and seven again thirty seven that's a winning situation for the forty nine or so again the kid this game is going to be working Green Bay due on first down what they can do a second out they have no chance of this gets into a third down game I Rogers look sharp so far I thought initially storm battle floors play calling for the Green Bay office was really good with very creative just in terms of again short passing game ruling Rogers out but on the third down play big shot by Nick Bosa again thirty seven traditional down distance for pocket pass and even Bakhtiari although he's a talented left tackle Anthony the Green Bay Packers he's no match dot that many are for the great Nick Bosa and in defense of bodyguards Rogers did try to get outside the pocket there and and and ran kind of in the Nick Bosa but never the less it was still an athletic play by both since your point might both sad bucket sorry on states a little bit so this forty Niners up seven all Rogers five of five twenty six your drop below three of three forty two yards the running game right now for the forty Niners is on point Raheem Mostert three carries forty seven yards and as might just let you know that touchdown is well and this is really Mike the game plan the game script for the forty Niners if you were to kind of lay out a forty Niners victory I would think a lot of it would be run the football for actively open up play action Virginia rob Lowe and let those four dominant defense event defense defensive lineman get after your Rogers is a not a hundred percent I think that's really well said Anthony and they have on offense to when you were you know the other side of the ball they do a great job of run after catch we've already seen it with people Samuel their rookie out of South Carolina so again it's a will bill bill team that's why they're in the final four that's why they were will flip the script from who in the senior bowl your go to being you know will give away for possibly going to sue role there really well built and these are low risk throws a Jimmy Garoppolo has to make that could turn to big plays like we've already seen devotion to make right now the forty Niners ten point two yards per attempt the Packers under three right now average yards per per play so that one is all forty Niners very good discrepancy again in favor of San Francisco a Methodist alter loss of former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum and ESPN inside NFL insider field Yates you he's he stepped away from a sea always leaves us around this time Mike but will carry of the rest of the way here on football frenzy ESPN radio ESPN out I'd mention the potential Superbowl lines right now it's Caesar's this is actually before kick off in the NFC championship game I imagine these these numbers either were taken off the board or of change but the chief war minus four and a half if they were to play the Packers in the Super Bowl over under fifty three and here this is this one's interesting to me Mike I want to get your thoughts on this so before the game if the chiefs in forty Niners if they pose a potential Super Bowl lines that came that Superbowl game would be a pick'em are you surprised by that no I think you they were we'd like to see is pastor Rome's down for two minutes to go in Miami I guess the forty niner defense we got wow I did too it's a great question probably my home still yeah but I mean it it if we wanna live radio would probably pause to think about it a little bit longer yeah it's interesting that's what could come down to at the end of day is this great offense of Kansas city that's been so prolific against this dominate forty niner defense and straight again straight that's why it really would be a pick'em game to me at the end they the big X. factor right now is a player Patrick homes with his feet because I don't really know how you could stop them now if you're the forty Niners and we're getting way ahead of ourselves but you wanna keep somebody like the homes in the pocket and try to corral him in from a passer standpoint keep him in the pocket but were million miles away from that but I could see why we're talking about a Kansas city San Francisco game on neutral turf being a pick'em game because it truly is straining constraint and interestingly as a fan of the sport I'd love to see Hey could the forty niner offense will be given to the defense maybe and rob what you'll see all plays out but I still think Green Bay despite the start will be in it because again I think about what floor is going to keep trying to match his game through either running the ball or short passing game and I don't think they're gonna allow Nick Bosa dominated forty Niners up seven all right now in the NFC championship game they're under a minute before the end of the first quarter will keep you updated there earlier today the Kansas City Chiefs punch their ticket to the Superbowl by beating the Tennessee Titans thirty five twenty four Ryan Tannehill twenty one of thirty one two hundred nine yards two touchdowns no picks couldn't get it done here's what Ryan Tannehill I'd say the podium following the loss software always kind of.

"We certainly would like to have back home surprises all with the snake specs on the longer we watched it last week it's just to make a play on him and we were fully aware that he was healthy and I was a dimension of his game just waiting till the next job today so said coach Mike for able of the Tennessee Titans as the chief stock off his Titans thirty five twenty four Mike Tannenbaum you're listening to that some some of your take aways from Mike Rabal addressing the media following did his team lose in the AFC championship game yeah I think he kind of nailed it you know just in terms of he didn't they just to get a chance to get in sync offensively I think I want for the game guys just looking at the under it aspect of were you looking game the dry possession chart at one point in the game Kansas city score touchdowns on five of six consecutive possessions it's really remarkable they punted for the first possession of the third quarter but beyond that of six possessions they scored touchdowns off field goals such downs by about six times in that was clearly the difference in game see you can really start strongly ended strong but for the middle part of the game there I understand what cultural say they could really never gain control game that's Mike Tannenbaum former NFL general manager I'm Anthony Salter ESPN NFL insider field Yates you're here as well football friends in ESPN radio the ESPN app and SiriusXM channel lady fields you look this Titans team they didn't nobody really expected them to be in the AFC championship game they go on the road they beat the patriots they go on the road they knock off the top seeded Baltimore Ravens it could get it done today but when you think about the quarterback situation heading into the offseason Ryan Tannehill with another PMR bring him back is this a team that you feel as though can build off of the moment to make it they created in the post season or is this simply a team that caught fire and then ran out of gas well it could be a little bit of both I think Anthony but I do like the overall direction for what they have going but they've got some really interesting free agent decisions coming up and it's not the idea of whether you want to keep Ryan Tannehill or not or whether you want to keep Derrick Henry or not it's how much you're willing to pay them and I think the Henry conversation is particularly interesting Mike someone pointed this out on Twitter for remind hated winks who covers the NFL for rotoworld and can you really afford to pay Derrick Henry ten plus million dollars per season if when you're down by eleven points in the AFC championship game he's not on the field I think that's a question that I I've it's not even asked rhetorically I just think that how they evaluate some of these key free agent this offseason will play a big part in what their trajectory remains going forward you know that's a really interesting conversation and I think we should have that next because when you look at the Titans you look at deer cannery was that an indictment on paying the running back that I think that I think that's a a fascinating course because you're you're not here without Sir Henry yet is your friend just pointed out field on Twitter you can can you pay on when you're in a spot where you can even use them because your trail and so much in the fourth quarter so let's talk about it football frenzy ESPN radio ESPN out with Mike Tannenbaum field Yates if any soldier will discuss Derrick Henry the future plots were underway between the forty Niners backers and then if you have a judicial up throughout the course of the game that's all next on ESPN radio and ESPN up the.

"Insurance all guests join US via the Shell Pennzoil performance line alongside former. NFL General Manager. Mike Tammy Anthony Salter filling in for the guys today. We we just got done talking about Jerry Jones Jason Garrett and the reasons why Jerry Jones might be holding off off on making a coaching change. What we know that there are two instances in the NFL? Mike where the ownership group did not make a change. And if you would have asked asked me I don't know more. I won't answer for you Mike. But if you ask me I thought Dan Quinn of the Atlanta Falcons probably gone around mid season and and I thought for sure that Doug Marrone head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars was likely gone. Following the Jaguars losing season but shod con the owner of the Jaguars decided to keep Doug marrone and Arthur blank. The owner of the Falcons decided to go with consistency and continuity and kept the Quin. Why do you think in today's Today's NFL? Were the league is so quick to fire coaches. We just all with the credit kitchens and the browns after one year that Dan Quinn and Doug Marrone were saved ultimately Mike are those are really good points Every situation can be different. Anthony and I think in Dan Quinn's case his relationship with the players is beyond reproach and He took a team to the Super Bowl. Recently has a great relationship shit with Arthur blank. I think those were all factors in the decision. I think the other the other factor here with Arthur blank is that he saw turnaround and now it happened way too late the season was over. The Falcons were one seven but he saw the changes that Dan Quayle had made during the bye week week they paid off and they paid off immediately. Because that's when the Falcons came out of the by went into New Orleans sack drew brees six times and held the saints. It's out of the end zone. Pulled off the okay. Yeah I was GonNa say that's a good point I would add to that too. Is like everything you just said and I would add where he marris going to that side. the ball during the bye week so I think that made a huge difference. You know go into that game ever since then. They only lost two games. They lost those back to back games to the buccaneers ears. And then the home loss to the scene but I think all those factors and winning four straight the and really tip the balance to In Mr Blanks. Mind to keep Dan for another year. That one that one made sense after Arthur blank decided to stick with Dan. Quinn the one that I was really surprised in apologize. My Voice Sir. The one that I was more surprised with was Doug marrone being retained in Jacksonville Adam Schefter. ESPN NFL insider discuss why shod Khan and the Jaguars ownership group decided to keep around. And why would they want to see with marrone. Now that Tom Coughlin's gone the the specter of Tom Coughlin this franchise and he was such a strong presence and such a strong personality that I think the owners WanNa see how doug marrone and and Dave Cobb will will function in Tom. Coughlin Lewis Environment with a different set of rules where that discipline. That existed is lightened up. Some where they feel like they. He could have relationships of players that they didn't have before that makes sense on the surface. Mike you've been in front offices before former general manager do you. You think that will work. Do you think that shod con me. The right decision and saying we want to see what you do. Doug Monroe not you with Tom. Coughlin overshadowing you. Well we've talked about this before I had the privilege of being. Nfl Front offices for over twenty years. I never once issued a fine now. That's not to say that I didn't get behind closed doors with head coach to say. Hey I think there's something we really need to do for the organization but ultimately from a fine perspective I always felt like things like fines. playtime that ultimately had to be decided by the head coach and the players knew that's who they reported to obviously as it relates to things like contracts tracks. That's what you have a front office for. But when from Jacksonville Jaguars player and I don't know who report to because Tom Coughlin is issuing a fine. Because I'm sitting on a bench like as what was reported in the Leonard for net situation. That's really hard for Doug Marrone to be put in a position of success because now if you're a player am I try and please the head coach and I try to please Tom Coughlin. And I think the world of time he's One of the best coaches we've had. He's a great man but in that situation. There's a time time and place and I think to put the head coach in the best position possible you have to defer to him. I actually have some experience with this It was just for one year in two thousand hosted Anthony. I was in the Front Office of the New York jets. Coach ballot check had left to go coach. The Patriots and Bill parcells was the Executive Vice President Football Operations in Alberta. It was our head coach and one of the many fascinating things about ourselves that I got to see firsthand. Anthony was the wisdom of him. Saying like look you're not Kazimi around here a lot. We're going to talk every day. We're GONNA talk about strategy. We're talking about signings but these players need to know that this is Albert team. Not My team and coach parcells sells one of his way. He was hardly ever at practice He was just one of those guys where he felt like he knew that outgrow needs to be put in position of authority. And I and I wonder if Tom Retrospectively looking back may have done some things differently because the NFL. It's a quasi military situation. Where oh you need chain of command you need authority and maybe inadvertently no coach often? You.

"ESPN radio the ESPN APP and Siriusxm Channel Eighty. I WanNa start off Mike with something that you and I have talked a lot about football frenzy which you can hear five to ten on Sundays. What is going on in Dallas? What would be the reason why Jerry Jones has not made a decision yet on Jason Garrett because Mike I felt as though I know that this was a foregone conclusion weeks ago after the Patriots loss in Foxborough I thought foregone conclusion Jason Garrett would no longer be the head coach so you've been in NFL for an offices you've dealt with owners? Why would Jerry Jones be holding off on this? You know. That's a great question. We've obviously discussed this In detail over the last couple days you know. Clearly if Jerry Jones had any proclivities to WANNA keep deep Jason Garrett they could have gotten the deal. It's very easy deal to do a contract extension with a coach. That's already in the building so we saw Jerry Jones when he wanted Ezekiel Michael. Elliott August Ezekiel Elliott was in Kabo had multiple years left on his contract. That could've franchise him and Jerry still out and signed him so it shows you that in all likelihood there's going to be an extension now. Everyone feels that way. We all think that thing but what what is the delay I don't know. But here's the bigger concern and I don't think they're gonNA lose out on their head coaching candidate. Because I'm sure behind the scenes Stephen Jones who runs the organization day to day. Anthony is as you know in touch with the candidates more poorly their agents. So I don't think necessarily like Ron Rivera was the guy they wanted anyway. However were the if I'm a cowboy fan and here's where I should be very very concerned? The assistant coaches fly off the board. It is the wild wild west. There is no salary cap. And I'm just picking out the name here. Let's say that they wanted to hire head coach axe and head coach. Jack del Rio Will Jack Del. Rio just became part of Ron Rivera staff in Washington so from that standpoint. You're starting to put yourself at a competitive disadvantage. And if I was a Dallas Cowboy Fan that would be my bigger concern talking about Jerry Jones and why he might be holding off on and I don't want to be insensitive here because we're talking about a man's job but why might be holding off on relieving Jason Garrett of his duties and designed for straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless Bobby Carpenter. ESPN football lanos was on Golic and Wingo earlier. Said Jerry might be looking for reasons to Cape Jason Garrett. Is there another lever that we can pull. Could we bring someone else on the staff. Is there like a CO head coach. The we can throw in there. Isn't there a mentor. A fellowship program. Is there something we can do. The try to provide you another avenue to keep you on this stuff because you know what I really like you. He tagged him. He hired him before he hired. Wade Phillips Phillips then when when he gave him the job like he was expecting him to be the answer. Answer Jerry look like a genius the guy that provided him the opportunity for like this next hall elephant coach Tomlin Injury in. It hasn't worked out yet and I don't think he's ready to give up on it. Mike I know that Bobby Carpenter again. You heard earlier earlier today. Golic and Wingo and he's going to join us a little bit later on and talk about not only this subject but also some college football because we got a lot of ball games. Of course you've got the big one between Lsu and Clemson. But I think with what Bobby said there. There is some truth there even even if you shine a kind of a little bit I wonder if Jerry Jones is thinking to himself I do WanNa be the guy that was right about Jason Garrett and there's some loyalty here the only other reason I think that he might be holding onto Garrett. Is that at that next candidate. Isn't there the one he wants. Whoever that may be? Maybe it's in the college ranks. Maybe you know it's it's Matt rule or it's not the Lincoln Riley I was GonNa go anywhere you and I've talked about this a lot. But that guy that he wants is an available or is telling him no and then he's circling back and say. Well maybe Jason Gary. We'll be okay for another another year Look I think anything's on the table. Look candidly we're all speculating. I just tell you that it's a very big competitive competitive disadvantage and the assistant coach pool that they're hurting themselves. And you know what else is interesting to me. Anthony is Jerry. Jones has been called a lot of things by a lot of people over. You know whatever the last twenty twenty five years he has arguably you know. Maybe the most forward facing position of the most valuable franchise in all all of American sports clearly won most valuable franchise in all the world. But I think what we're seeing fundamentally at the end of the day here Anthony. He's human and I. Actually you find this to be somewhat admiring while it's maddening from a football standpoint like come on let's get on with it. Let's get on with the search. I think there's something really Romantic attractive active about the fact that like he has real feelings for the sky. And I think that says a lot about jury as a human being and if I was next coach. There's something about it. That's actually admirable. which which is he cares? Deeply about Jason Garrett. I think there's there's a lot of good in that Mike Tannenbaum former. NFL General Manager for the jets worked in the Front Office for the Miami Dolphins uh-huh while the last couple of years joins me Anthony Salter. This is the Dan Le Batard show with Stugatz on. ESPN radio the ESPN APP and Sirius. Xm Channel Eighty so as we await the decision vision by Jerry Jones on whether or not he's going to retain Jason Garrett goes somebody else. Mike we do know that Ron Rivera former panthers. Coach is in place Nice. Now he will be the next head coach for the Washington Redskins. He also name this morning. His defensive coordinator which is Jack Del. Rio Washington Tin has been another spot. As you know Mike that has just been eight an Albatross. They can't figure it out. Daniel Snyder can't figure it out delight to hire of not only Ron Rivera. But his decision to go Jack del Rio as his defensive coordinator I I do. and Ron Rivera will bring a lot to the table experience. Success coach of the year relate ability to player so I think he checks a lot of boxes. I think it's a good higher. Yo Jackson head coach before Presumably he's is gonNA keep Kevin O'CONNELL Kevin was a guy that played for me at the jets. Really Really Bright Guy. Really Smart So I think the continuity for join Haskins is important so Coming out of the box if you're telling me that it's Kevin O'CONNELL coaching Twain Haskins. And It's Jack Del Rio coaching Defense with Rana rare. I think it's a really really good. Start for the Russians. I do too. I mean that's a lot of experience there. I think thad both guys will. At least maybe provide some stability there some experience. And if Daniel Snyder can get out of the way they should be fine straight talk wireless everything for less only at Walmart. It's time for Sports Center on the Dan Le Batard show on this New Year's Day. Hey we have a handful of great college football matchups to ring in the twenties in a in the two new year six games Wisconsin puts their five game symbol winning streak on the line against Oregon in the Rose Bowl in Sunny Pasadena while Georgia and Baylor meet for the first time since the nineteen eighty-nine certain one thousand nine hundred nine in today's sugarhill but that is far from the only college action as there are two big ten. SEC showdowns as well. You've got Minnesota looking for their first first eleven win season since nineteen o four. They're going to take on Auburn in the outback bowl. And two of the winning. And it's pro work programs. I was in college football history. They being Michigan and Alabama will square off.

"There is news there's talk ESPN one thousand Chicago is number one football station get your bears news here first third down and goal from the full the whole issue for the Jaguars coming after me mercy six thirty one seconds left on the clock car steps out the right side of the end zone jump ball incomplete and the final act the raiders have lost in the Oakland Alameda Coliseum football frenzy yes P. N. radio E. S. P. N. at K. C. V. S. on the call is the raiders blow it out no Clinton was the final game out no Clinton the Jacksonville Jaguars walked away with a twenty to sixteen victory one of the five late games to which you're still going on although the cowboys are all over the rams at this point falcons didn't score a touchdown at the goal line so they're trailing nineteen to seventeen now forty Niners have the ball back their past mid field there at the two minute warning so the falcons are gonna have to force at least a field goal the forty Niners go up by a touchdown that's going to be all she wrote out there but we'll keep you updated on that one I'm a three soldier long so former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum this is football frenzy on ESPN radio and ESPN ESPN app presented by progressive insurance all calls be the shell pencil performance on might we saw earlier that it's been kind of a tumultuous week for the patriots we know now there's new allegations that they videotaped another sideline this was in this case the the bangles bill Belichick and the patriots claimed that it was for a documentary that they were they were doing calls do your job and it was it was supposed to be shot in the eyes of the scout but it's nothing to do with the the actual patriots football team do you do you think that now that the NFL has the film and they've been investigating this do you think that the patriots are punished and if so what do you think the punishments yeah I think everyone's been a little bit too far just look at the cover this really quick to judgement and lot letting this play out and there's a real process to it one thing I think the league is a really really good job of I think they are thorough and fair in these situations it could be Antonio brown it could be the situation whereby once a decision you know ten minutes ago and I think the situation you know if we just look at it for what it is on the facts of this case I think it sounds like more of an innocent mistake where they do these features and most teams are building out their social media platforms it and create their own content and they were following a scout to do some advance guy which is I find very interesting by the way and just given my background but I think it was something that was probably more a mistake of carelessness not with any sort of malicious intent and if you're on the road doing this it didn't seem like it was or history with the football team the scouting department terms of like capturing the information and then giving it to the coaching staff sound like most organizations your bifurcated mean you have football your football prop then on the other side is social media platforms again creating capturing video content to put out on our you're very spot forms I think it's much more the latter I think the legal still at the end they sanction them to me it's it feels a lot more like a fine or not and hearing to the rules but I think we're a million miles away from anything more serious than that based on everything we know as of now you say there's a bit of a rush to June third you're probably right but is that fair given the patriots history I mean you're in that division for a long time with the New York Jets general manager of the jets you know the patriots well you know bill Belichick well is it is it fair given this terrific it is well again you know that the coverage is gonna be what the coverages but the reality is you have to go by the facts of each situation and in this situation look they're they're dealing with week to week to try to win games and coach spell check doesn't really have the time or the resources to make sure that you know the production side of the house is complying with rules in terms of you know when they're on the road when they're capturing data so and I just know from morning football teams there's plenty on your plate especially in season and you're the head coach you're you're not have the time to make sure that again people that have very so much attenuated sort of connection to the teams are actually being compliant that should be somebody else's job so yeah you just will be fair our own objective I think would noon did again was maybe driving fifty six miles an hour and if I don't think they got any competitive edge at the other day that's when all the teams could compare when have they would have a fair competitive playing field and I think again here while the mayor broken rule I don't think it has anything to do with the outcome of today's game are we welcome in the audience so is listening to the Jaguars and raiders this is football frenzy sorry Chargers Vikings football frenzy on ESPN radio and ESPN out the Vikings in Chargers pre sheet you now tuning into football frenzy I'm Anthony Salter along side NFL former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum about minute forty eight remaining in the game between the falcons and the forty Niners Robbie Gould just connected on a long field goal words twenty two to seventeen now the forty Niners have the lead but the falcon's soul of an opportunity with just under two minutes remaining in one timeout bike to potentially drive down the field with the gonna need a touchdown but this is this is been a competitive game throughout the falcons will have an opportunity and right before Robbie Gould attempted at the field goal on third down George Kendall was likely heading for for for a first down after catching a small passage a short pass in the in the flats but he had fumbled the football fortunately for the forty Niners they recovered after he recovered at but never the less instead of a first down new seven thousand one o'clock down there to tend to feel will Robbie Gould though can acts on it now the forty Niners of twenty two seventeen so boring falcons drive here and they do have many ice forty Niners could be heading toward a twelve inch record yeah and look if you're a laptop and fan you have to feel pretty good about how you played today they had a fumbled punt return they gave us San Francisco an easy touchdown but really beyond that I have played very well held up on both sides of the ball George hill has given them problems as well as his give everybody else problems but look this is a you have a hundred million dollars in Julio Jones got a hundred million dollars and Matt Ryan you're on the road you down five this is what you pay them a hundred million dollars for your guests at a very formidable defense and a fellow slits corner keeping outlets we're gonna win here so twelve of the twenty number one seeds have made it to the Superbowl forty Niners that's what during one four to get to get the number one seed of course they have the upper hand against the saints after beating the saints last week in New Orleans and such saints we don't we don't know how they're gonna perform until tomorrow night there on Monday Night Football on their host the call colts team that really is starting to come apart here at the seams both due to injuries in performance when they had an opportunity last week in Tampa to stay close in that AFC south race with they lose Tampa Bay comes from behind so it looks like the colds season is likely to come to an end tomorrow night in New Orleans but that that number one see is going to be fascinating to see who gets it it really I mean for the forty Niners I don't know how much of a home field advantage you have compared to the Superdome well my coming traveling all the way out west for a playoff game I mean there's there's still that that that's certainly a benefit to the forty Niners if you get some of these teams at that have to travel that far yeah it's so interesting we and we have talked about this when you look at the class of the end of C. like clearly remains in that discussion as you mention Anthony New Orleans is in that discussion we're kind of discounting you know a little bit of Seattle for second here but and I'm see San Francisco is but you have three or four teams and then you draw a line so the other see to me is very top heavy this year much more so than let's see the a or C. so the one in two seeds will have a real disproportionate advance because what's going to happen is someone has to go together see east and while you're say well they're road favor that's true the chemo affected the goggle play another game well presumably Lester states New Orleans and San Francisco they have another week to get healthy so a Seattle would be again on the road because they're they're the five seat and then you know this whole thing on how it's gonna sort out between Minnesota again it's gonna be very introducing a good team left out it could be the LA rams team that just want to sue will be on the outside looking in for this year's playoffs dak Prescott benched in Dallas that's because the cowboys Rebecca brushed the back up these in now cowboys up I believe thirty seven to fifteen on the rams they're winding down in Dallas raiders lost their eliminated from playoff contention if the Steelers win tonight over the bills the Browns lost they will be eliminated from playoff contention if the Steelers win tonight the bears have been eliminated from playoff contention without loss earlier today against the Packers on top of the Vikings beating the Chargers so those are your updated playoff standings the falcons are driving in Santa Clara they need a touchdown to win the game their trail the forty Niners twenty two to seventeen they're gonna time out remaining and they're near in about thirty seconds we'll update you on that and revisit some of the top storylines today from week fifteen.

"Performance line with former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum and the ESPN NFL insider field Yates I'm Anthony Salter and we go right away to an update there Miguel Flores got a couple of updates worse yeah we certainly do a very entertaining first order so far guys bears offense has not been able to take care of the ball and email or mobile reception were covered by the state the bond bell density Bridgewater led the St still twenty four yard touchdown drive capped off by Josh hill seven yard touchdown reception the things went out nine zero in the first but then on the ensuing kickoff core Daryl Patterson to get to the house all the way to cut the lead to too so it's nine seven with two fifty nine left in the first quarter hour staying on top are things really nine seven saints to throw out the three minutes left in the first quarter there update you on to some other scores should the Chargers are inside the red zone they got a three three it's a three three tie right now between them and the Titans with five ten eight remaining in the second quarter the ravens are now down three seven as the sea hawks scored a touchdown and that one is early in the second quarter Mike fields I would do today great to be with you guys a lot of football right right until the season what what a great story lines it's been a while they already feel what's your what's your top observation from the deck top observations so far from the day well in here today okay a perfect first of all the top observation of the week will be whatever happens Patrick homes we know is expected to miss someone vicinity of three weeks but my top observation of the day is first of all Aaron Rodgers just a marvelous performance earlier on today for twenty nine passing yards six total touchdowns Aaron Rodgers just incredible in every single way and then on the other side of the spectrum I'm just sorry the falcons are a grave massive there is no team that is disappointed in the way the lan falcons have disappointed so far this season one in six and I was having a conversation with Mike just before we got back on the air the question is what cars do you have left to play and I know that they're going to stick with Dan Quinn their head coach and I understand that I'm I'm personally not a big fan of mid season coaching changes I just think from a disappointment standpoint their own parallel right now it's really tough to see day in day out because they got smoked by the ramps today so I did that I thought had a chance to maybe baby challenge for the NFC I mean at the end of C. not like the plane if he's out like playing the internship which of game has just been very very disappointing yeah I agree we're talk about this earlier and obviously since the movie are Jay Gruden Washington hill the eyes of the football world are certainly focused on Atlanta and just a couple years ago being the patriots twenty three in super all it's really surprising where they are I just look at their schedule they have Seattle this week and then the by after so hopefully they can get things squared away but it doesn't look good in obviously when you're making these decisions the last time I was part of it when we decided as an organization move on from coach filled in we did a heading into a bye week for obvious reasons and we elevated Dan Campbell on our staff back in twenty fifteen so that is a factor when you make decisions like that to see whether or not you have time to get the right pieces in place so what we'll see how things go but I agree with feel just from an expectation standpoint especially when you're riesgos down and you say okay who looks like they can control the R. C. South Carolina has can do getting right as you say two quarterbacks go down yeah and Matt Ryan of those for you would say given James with when since inconsistencies clearly what would be the four of Bridgewater trial Allan and Wynn stand and yet now we're looking at maybe a coaching change the Chargers are get they have a third and goal so what date will keep you updated on that one but let's go to Dan Quinn who addressed the media following the rams huge victory over the falcons one is a huge I mean huge in deficit standpoint addressing the media following the game how do you evaluate your ability to lead and do you think your best serving as seen by Stan or as coordinator well we've actually my job is to look at the big picture and see if there's things we can do to change that and we actually started some of that during Arizona last week I'm always looking to see during the game you know who can help on that play calling and inside that we've actually distributed that some you know Arizona and this week as well so I'm always looking to do what's best for the team and in every situation at every time so we've already begun some of that you know how can I you know on the fly myself in other ways in which certainly done that too yeah just as a quick follow up to that date could you be more specific about that what you did last week and this week that you had done before in terms of sheer delight calling during the game on defense yes good and who with who with some of the other system coaches okay the players say they like you and they support you and all that stuff but it doesn't seem like the following you are certainly not translate into game so in that sense I could ask you to think you've lost the team I understand why the question is a fair question quite honestly because I you spend most your time trying to you know connecting get the team to play like we're capable of and so the answer I would say is no but why am I the the disbelief at times of not playing like we're capable of that can be very frustrating when when you don't do that you know you wanna look and search and find answers and as well spend most of my time doing see what tweaks what things need to be changed whether it's personnel at scheme it's assisting in play calling for you know me to apply some attention elsewhere I'm always looking to do anything that's best for the team trust me my guys never bigger the team there's nothing I wouldn't do to help get us right do you believe it's a lost season at this point either for the team or for yourself well I saw the first one as a lost season no I never think like you're out of the fight and so you shouldn't think that way as a team member and and I certainly don't think that way is the coach I recognize it you know when you don't play well those are fair questions but now feel like river out of the fight and until we do like we're capable of that's my flight would always stay consistent it was Dan Quinn following the falcons thirty seven it's a loss to the rams are now one in six we'll do we'll talk about Dan Quinn in his fate a lot throughout the course of the night however.

"All callers via the shell Pennzoil performance line I'm Anthony Salter along side former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum feel gates are stepping out he's done for the night he's done a lot of radio so Mike and I have you covered on football frenzy for the next couple of hours and my god first of all we do have one final from the late games the Seahawks beat the cardinals twenty seven to ten later fitz Gerald moves into second place all time four wide receivers at the keys one behind Jerry rice and he just moved above Tony Gonzalez on the all time list of congrats to later fitz Gerald unfortunately comes in a loss for him the Mike yeah he's still a all time great and does a little bit of a work in progress here rookie quarterback calamari working head coaching cliff king's very old three in one through the first quarter of the season their player a very good team in in Seattle and you touched on it earlier and think that Russell Wilson after loss is very difficult to be in sales can be a team to be work with all year long because of the changes they made late in the off season on defense in particular to Jamie on cloudy that acquisition he will only help them more more as the year goes on so let's get some updates to for ya Minnesota still trail in sixteen nothing there at mid field but there's only five and a half minutes left it looks like they're they're going to lose in Chicago and they will fall to to into but again there's only to still five and a half minutes left in I mean it's too it's it's two touchdowns in two two point conversion sold crazier things have happened a special on an NFL Sunday Denver is now in Jacksonville territory but they're trailing the Jaguars twenty to seventeen a lot of time left in Denver there still over ten minutes there and then the one that wild game that with at least from a from the late action standpoint the one that I was talking about earlier. with the underdog nine and a half point art buccaneer team traveling tele L. L. L. H. usually they're up forty five twenty seven but the rams are driving except that tells you might that maybe the rams aren't a lot of it quite yet I mean that offenses dynamic it has struggled a little bit today but if there's there's more than enough time with nine minutes left for maybe the rams to get back into it yeah and Cooper compass been a big difference for this team he's been under a player so that I liked a lot when he came out a little bit of under rated player who was hurt last year he's been really someone a little bit uncertain player for them because when he's there there so much harder did the family have woods in him and obviously the running game with Todd Gurley so Cooper cops been a big difference for them it and they're gonna make this a closer game here this game is far from over despite how well Jim is which is played four touchdowns core about Graham a hundred thirty seven because the explosiveness that Ellie has between cooks woods and cop thank you they cannot strike very quickly..

"Presented by progressive insurance. Anthony Salter alongside is Gabe nights all day. We've been spending a lot of time talking about Kevin Durant, and Colli Leonard, whether or not they would meet, and whether or not, they could coexist on the same team as our ESPN NBA insider Adrian words now ski and Ramona Shelburne discussed earlier if Durant, and co I Leonard have been discussing scenarios that could include a future with them playing together. Now. The only to clear possibilities for both both players to sign together. With the same franchise would be the clippers and the New York Knicks, but one thing that we haven't discussed too much. And I think actually makes a lot of sense lot, a lot more sense than what is being discussed right now. It's heading back to Toronto. And I remember talking to Mark how a couple of weeks ago on game night and him. And I were debating whether or not quite would go back to Toronto. I said, hey, they win the championship. I could see him staying at least one more year. And at this point given his contract situation, it might even make more the most sense to stay in Toronto another year. And then maybe revisit free agency. Are you from now I think that makes a ton of sense from a number different reasons? I obviously he's comfortable in Toronto. The raptors played this thing terrific much like okay. She did the year before with Paul George. They trade for Paul George knowing that he has just one year left. On his contract. And everybody out there saying he's going to go to the Lakers really wants to play for the Lakers, the Lakers of the team that he's going to end up with. And ultimately, okay. She gets him to agree to stay with under long-term now Toronto. I don't know if they're going to be able to get him to agree to stay there long term. But they played this thing beautifully from sitting allowing him to rest up, giving him the load management games only having played sixty regular season games. So he trusts them. He trusts their medals, go staff. There's not going to be any of those issues that he had insane Antonio. And then on top of it all, you go out and win the NBA championship he obviously is just a doored in that town. And then there's a financial incentive to do it as well if he signs a short term contract with Toronto. He can get you a level where he's going to be a ten year NBA vet and therefore, get a little bit more money out of that match contract him, citing a one year, kind of like LeBron was doing in Cleveland all those years for each had a one year contract with one year player option. Always opt out and then. Continuously resigned with the Cavs. I think a one year contract with a one year player option in Toronto to kind of open up more options next year. Maybe he ends up being paired up with Katie. I think that makes all the sense in the world, especially if Katie wines missing a full season, if he wants missing a full year, and he goes back to illicit goes back to Golden State, and he rehabs then Katie and co I can become possibilities a year from now. And we've, you know, look, you and I talked all the first two hours of this show about how the clippers in the Knicks seemingly are the two teams that could be left at the altar with all of that money and not lay into single superstar well fast forty year from now. Why signs short term deal with Toronto? Katie signs. Short term term deal with Golden State, and then a year from them, maybe the clippers in the Knicks become a possibility. But here's one thing that Steven brings up that the quiet Leonard decision impacts the entire MBA. He stays at Toronto. Well, Houston might still go after TIMMY, Butler, he leaves Toronto Philly, it may be an encouraging SAFA Jimmy Butler, the state and out, west K D might suddenly say Brooklyn, New York is no option because in the next two to three years, if AD LeBron echo wa a gonna be gather. What possible chance do I have a beating them without Steph and clay? Yes. And that's a great point by Stephen A. If one's going to LA with the Lakers, not the clippers he signs there. And it's him. Lebron AD if K D wants to wants to continue to have the best chance of winning a championship Stephen hailed, he's got to stay in Golden State, along with Steph and now Klay Thompson, who is residing with the warriors quieting up with the Lakers, though just seems and he is the hardest player in the NBA to kind of get a read on, he doesn't drop little bread crumbs. She doesn't. Send tweets that are shove tweeting other people or teams are giving you any sort of clue as to what he's thinking or what he wants for his future. Like trying to figure out what launches so hard. But it just seems that with the glitz and the glamour that is the Los Angeles Lakers that doesn't seem like a place he would necessarily fit in. But if you have to those other stars in Anthony Davis, LeBron James kind of deflecting that away from I can see how it works. But I don't think that he ends up with the Lakers alternately, although I admit that nobody knows anything when it comes to lender. That's game nights alum, Anthony Salter..

"Radio at Anthony Salter and at Mark Tauber sixty five I Anthony Salz alongside Packer hall of Famer Mark tau Scher and Mark, I feel as though that you're about to crush the dreams of many raptors fans by saying, there's nothing that Toronto can do to keep coli, Leonard right where he is what why is that? Why don't you let anything and he's gone. I've been a it was a forced marriage. He obviously did not want to play in San Antonio. And San Antonio winning wise and what they do from a program standpoint, if it was about just basketball winning. You stay there. He wants to go Mike guess, to the clippers, but he wants to go Doc Rivers said he's the next day. He is the closest thing to Michael Jordan gets hit with a fifty K tampering, but that's where he wants to go and so far as much as going to Toronto and try to help them win and put them in this position that they're in. That's great. But that doesn't mean that he still has changed his mind and I think he realizes he's good enough that he can now go to a place. He wants to live, a and find a way to do it. So the question is from Toronto standpoint, you're looking better, just enjoy this and not get caught up in well, we need to do everything we can keep he's gonna do what he wants enjoy this next week and a half two weeks and hope you can get over the top because my guess is after this season, there's going to be a reload rebuild up in Toronto. ESPN radio host Jason Fitz thinks that Toronto has already done enough. He disagrees with you just the fact that they were able to in the process of getting to the finals. They were able to eliminate teams that look like they're part of the future moving forward for the east Toronto. You've got to feel like you are getting great situation. You, you managed to get through the east in a situation where at least right now the perception is Philly had the best roster. That's what we thought and Milwaukee had the best superstar. That's what we thought and you, you totally discarded both of those teams in the process of getting to the championship that has to mean something moving forward. When you look around the spectrum, you're like, yeah, we're position to be the best team in the east moving forward. I think if Toronto wins the NBA finals, it will be more difficult for quite a Amata here. I think that if they lose if either because it's he's won a championship there. He's lived there for a full year. They traded for him. I realized that the clippers, you know, presumably, the LA spot was where he wanted to go along. But Mark, you want you want a Super Bowl. I went to Wikipedia. I looked you up and Wikipedia we know it. Factual information appropriate is you want a Super Bowl with the backers wouldn't have been tougher for you to, to, to leave after winning you. That's, that's that. That's your. Here's the deal. This comes down to when you're a level light Kawai is like they were. Hey, I'm honest. I'm I'm here right now with you. Let's just. I think when you look at what why does at he is at that superstar talent that not many guys have the that where they can dictate where they go most NFL players. Yeah. That is not the case. He is in a position. He can make a big time contract. He he willing to go to try. He never wanted to go to trial. He is fallen. He has made this a great scenario as good. He's made a situation. He didn't really want and he's turned into the best scenario. He could now he's in a position where he can win. And then go do he doesn't know Toronto, anything he owes to him and his family, what he wants to do revenue wise and location, wise. And if that is where he wants to go back out on the west coast and go play ball. And he can maybe try to form his own super team it with the clippers. He has every right to do that. And I think for as much as to say this is a. That's not where he's at his mind is already probably out in LA. And I would be shocked if he doesn't go out there saying, I think we presume too much. I think we just assume. All right. Look he he he's done enough in Toronto. He never wanted to be there before. But we don't know ultimately, what coli Leonard talk a lot. He. No. He doesn't like that. He's spot for that, too, though. Mark turtles was even San Antonio is all basketball. Good things happen. He decided that this was not the spot. He wanted to be even though because one of the arguments could be you can max him out. Well, you know what that's not. He's gonna get maxed out in the clippers, but the money was not the dictating point for him to say he would have made more money if he had stayed in San Antonio. That's not he has a way that he wants to doing it at Toronto. You know, give them a ton of credit bay went all in. They had a team that was pretty good. But was never able to get past the brawn James and you know what they did instead of sitting there saying we're pretty good. We're going to keep. Filling Jurassic Park we're going to keep doing this. They said, no, we are pushing our chips, and we're getting, we're at one of our better players were that for a rental and vein. Knew that. And yes, they hope that this turns into a Paul George situation where it is really good. And they think that they can win here. They're obviously doing that. But that doesn't mean it's going to stay there for as much as you know, fits and other personalities think that that's the case. I just don't see it. That's Packer.
