"Tired of being hungry all the time a motor for you being in in the heights which is a very idealized presentation of a block and the people living on it where there's like everybody's singing and dancing and everybody basically likes each other a lot and is there to support each other. You know even when circumstances get bad and you grew up in a neighborhood where it was violent. You saw terrible things. You felt traumatized So can you describe a bit. What what's been like to star in this very idealized version of a neighborhood because the thing about it is right. Every neighborhood got it stings like you hear the. It'd be the nicest neighborhood ever and you like your own deed on opium whatever yeah. I thought that. I thought they were fine. He was just in school yesterday. Like it's like that's that's why everybody's going through something it don't matter them when you're rich poor. Whatever life still happens right and that's why you know what i'm grateful for is that there was a lot of good to the music culture where i grew up it was rich was a rich thousand kids being inventive. You know. even if we didn't have cable we'd be in the backyard. We played football. We played spongebob baseball. We'd be out there to the wee hours of the night playing manhunt tag. All of that. Like nothing with these phones the social media so we were actually talking to each other. You know yet they were. There were moments of trauma and stuff like that. But yeah when you live in a neighborhood where everybody's just scraping by you know. of course. yeah people wanna rob you. Were going to do what they gotta do. But at the end of the day like there was so much good to in. And that's what i love about in the heights because we've seen the movies about the hood and we've seen the movies about people shooting people doing this selling drugs and doing whatever. But i'm grateful that we have a movie about a neighbor like washington heights where we just. We see people love on each other and embracing each other and dancing together in the street as singing about where they from the mini game republic in puerto rico and mexico and cuba and diverse cast coming together as celebrate and not only the community but where they come from celebrating life. You know especially after the year and a half. We've had where people haven't even been able to connect with each other. You know what. I'm saying. Like i know what. You're saying a celebration. Yeah one of the things that you're doing now is that you're in a cavern clyde underwear ad campaign in these really sexy poses like with your pants down the underwear showing and bare-chested and did you ever imagine yourself in that kind of image. Did you think of yourself like yeah. I'm sexy no i still. I mean i still gotta wake waco some days. It'd be like your man. You're good enough. You'll man now you you know like you still have those days where you're like man my ears a big. My eyes look like piss. You know. I got this strand here. That won't go down. You know what. I'm saying like this like like reminds us of yoga. You okay you gene and That was funny. My brother used to say to the umbrella would be. Hey you're going to be underwear model. Because i'll be working on the crib on the wheel of time laughing making jokes like that. May i'm telling you bro workout. you'll you'll be underwear model. Kevin kline thing him. I was so surprised. I was like what they had. The right person and It was wild. I like rap. This movie shooting in budapest. Run out of budapest traveled. Twenty one hours back to los angeles to do this photo. Shoot whether any poses. You were asked to do. You said no no. That's that's just too much. I'm not gonna do that or that. That just seems silly. I'm not gonna do that anything that i might have. Dr about did not only made it in. Anthony ramos assistant so much fun to talk with you. I just really appreciate it very much. "Sound natural to you. I didn't was so wild. I i actually I talked to the writer. So gentleman named chris. Gobble wrote all of my characters episodes. It was stole wild. I've never read a piece. I've never read dialogue. Where i was like. Yo this squeezy like feel like this is how i speak and it was really really beautiful to see a character like that right. Speaks right in this vernacular. This is familiar to mind. Like man is so articulate and is so specific and can explain himself as such a clear. Way i was like yellowish everything did was like this. This is this has been credible. I mean it was like a perfect glove. So you play somebody who didn't ask to be in psychotherapy the people who have hired him as a live in aid to help their son. They put you in in therapy. And they're paying for it and the therapy is pretty far into is at foreign to you and you were growing up it was. It was Until i was sixteen sixteen met with my therapist. Names jason jacobson high school. One of my teachers aged violette. She was the peer mediation. Coordinator is school and she was shakespeare. Teacher shoot some. She'd be like. Oh you need to see mr jacobs unique you. I was going to a lot of homes. I i was resistant. And then i said all right all right. Sure i'll see him. And that was the first time i had gone therapy ever in my life and it changed changed the game for me. it was. It was incredible to be able to speak to someone who doesn't know any doesn't know me from anything and can just give me sound advice based on like facts and science unlike and just like human behavior because this person has studied behavior you know in past forward a stop going therapy for years after that high school and then i didn't get back in until probably two years ago and it's been it's been a it's been a revelation a lot of things. A lot of things came back up a lot of things. You new stuff to a lot of new stuff that i just. I just didn't even know. I was going through the me. Adaptation of lin-manuel. Miranda's tony award winning musical in the heights. He was also one of the stars of the original cast of hamilton and in the current. Hbo series and treatment. He's one of the three people being treated by a psychotherapist. So this may be too personal to ask but when you were sixteen and one of your teachers suggested that you you see therapist at school you said. There was a lot of home stuff going on. Can i ask about what was going on at home. Or if it's too personal just just say so. It was You know it was hard right. I think drugs alcohol. Were you know in my family. In general have always been a thing that has Really played a a detrimental role will in communication and progress in In the ability for each of us to be empathetic towards one another. I think you know in a particularly my father was on drugs and he wasn't around a lot and it was It was difficult. It was just didn't my mom was going through a lot so for me. it was. There was just violence. All around in my neighborhood. As well. And i i wanted i just tired of living in poverty on being broke and then and then what was crazy was. I'm moving with my aunt. Which is especially as better neighborhood but still like i'm living this life where i'm still mad broke and now the kids around me doing better than the kids that i was living with before which makes me feel even worse in. I'm like living in. You know i'm living in my aunt's house You know my two cousins arm. She did everything she could to give us. A good life you know was the best but in no. I wasn't getting money from anybody. Those like she was for feeding us and made show where live. But i didn't like any money then. How old are you fourteen. You got to figure out how to get a job but then go job hunting and nobody will hire me. It was crazy. I was like. Why won't anyone hire me. And plus. i wasn't doing well in school i was. I was having trouble reconciling with the fact that like baseball was probably not going to be. You know i wasn't gonna make a major league. So what are you going to do with your life bro. and i. i really didn't want to go back man. I don't wanna forbade on my mom again. I was like yoda's feel like i'm moving backwards. What's happening you know. And when you a kid. Everything feels more dramatic. Didn't really is but at the same time. That's dramatic what you're going through west dramatic. It was crazy though. You know it was crazy. And i didn't realize i had trauma you know as a kid who i realized how much trauma have from some of the things. I've seen growing up in some of the stuff i've been through. This all reminds me of something that that your mentor. Who helped you get into collar. Sarah stein wise research recently told the hollywood reporter. You had said you know that you missed the deadline for college applications. She said She helped you get into acting school. She said that she knew that you weren't lazy. You just tired from life. Sounds like that's what you're describing. When i read that. I got emotional a lot. I get emotional even thinking about it now. It's crazy because i was tired. I was so exhausted. I was like. Why does it feel like everything. I'm doing isn't working. Why does it feel like. I'm hitting a wall after wall after wall. Like what do i have to do. I'm like you. I can't get a job anywhere like i'm like broke all the time. They yo it was even junior year. I was tight. You're my coach bench nina man. What so. I mean motivating. Because of my senior year. I went back and started every game. I had the highest batting average on the team. Like that drove me but it was literally hunger. That's how i like lived as a kid. You know where you get exhausted. From hungary you get.

"What's your mom before you talked about a father though see anthony ramos and the cast recording of hamilton. My understanding is that you recorded the cast recording sitting on a stool because you had just had appendicitis and we're still recovering from the surgery So when when did you were you like on stage or something. When you got the appendicitis it was inbetween shows. It was a to show day. I'll never forget it. I was in. I was in excruciating pain. Like a. I was sitting in my dressing room and i was like. Let me at least try to take a nap or something you know i was. I was trying to eat. Lunch can do it all right. Let me let me lay down paying the so bad the call out. I just told my stage manager. I can't do it. I'm sorry i couldn't. I was so much pain. I didn't even go back to brooklyn understood in my brother's place in the city. You have pretty closer to too thin. And i was just like country. Cribbing lay down. He's like no doubt sedan. Just like your this is this. Ain't normal this is different. Pain is different. I don't know what this is. We gotta go hospital and we went. We went straight to the hospital. I think it was mount sinai and They're like yo you appendicitis bro. I was like what does that mean. You need surgery as literally say can. What can we do like next week. I know we have to do this now. And i was like what they Room they take my appendix out crazy. I was all these drugs. What you're what just happened to me in the last forty eight hours and we had just opened on broadway we just open so that must've been killing. You like your big shot and you're in the hospital. It was rough and then the doctors mckay. You gotta be out of your show for a month. I'm like bro. Show four-month yeah. I don't get paid if i'm gonna show from. I was like what are we doing. And i was like. We weren't making a lot of money off. Broadway can save money. We probably we just got the broadway pro broke. That was to big about iraq. You going through this life or death situation. We appendix and thing. I'm thinking about is like you. I gotta pay my rent bro. And i was supposed to be able to show for a month and you know we cut it down to two weeks. They modified the show a little bit for me my part so there's some of the more physical things they kind of. They made some adjustments. That we are gonna come back early until i was healthy enough to to to do the show at full speed which i so great for four. It was like it was recorded the cast album we record the cast album Shortly after i had this this appendectomy and i had to sit on a stool in the studio inbetween takes. I would stand up. Cut my vocal. And then i'd sit on the stool. Did it air to breathe all your singing sometime. Julia was to add to really be mindful of how i was breathing. Think if i didn't need to take a deep breath for that known or whatever don't do it like it was definitely a chess match with myself. I was like i miss. Y'all ain't making this guy's meet so you have appendicitis. You go back in two weeks instead of four weeks and you know as alexander hamilton son. You have a big death scene like you get killed in the dual like your father tells you fire in the air via gentlemen and then you get shot and die so it must have been weird to be playing a death scene having just come out of the hospital. Yeah yeah for sure. And then that scene was crazy. Is that that seen him. Singing that song in falsetto and singing this joint in my head voice and it takes so much breath control to act like you're dying on a table and like seeing these high notes in falsetto and i was just like. Please help me some days. I if i didn't even have the notes honestly. I would speak them. I just speak on pitch 'cause if it hurt that much i'd be like y'all can't sing this right now. I've got have it. i would just speak on. It's not just like such the note. I'm off and again it was crazy crazy. It was wild to navigate that especially that scene was so physical. When know like pips you know. Plays plays elisa beyond this. She's crying on me and in atlanta's holding me. I'll hold me there somewhere else. I know any but my man hold up. More ways last four nights. I've had the same dream about the snow in the ash. And even though. I haven't thought about this guy in years it was kander. Hold him i. That was a lot. Boxing locked it. You and i both know the financial realities that bar that from being the case. This is short term. And it's possible that what i need is in. The american musical and dramatic academy with the help of a high school drama teacher who was your mentor and it sounds like she really changed your life. She helped you apply she helped you. I think with the admissions essay. She helped you get a scholarship from the jerry seinfeld foundation. So what was your admission essay about. Wow that's such a good question. I don't even know can't even remember what the what those essays but. I'm sure sarah would remember. I know i have to write about my life. And and so i'm sure it was probably something about how i grew up and what that was like and you know and i know i did say in the interview though. I remember interviewing scholarship on that. She's gotta have it so let's get right into it. Which is everything that you've been doing even during a pandemic you've been working. Yeah i mean it's It's been it's been kinda crazy During the pandemic One of my boys. It was like i was supposed to shoot a movie And budapest this dissatisfied like space film and then it got postponed and i was sort of of sort of found myself. I was supposed to put on my second. Last year was a whole thing and And the pandemic hit. And i was like dang what am i gonna do and one of my best friends started teaching me how to use logic. It was like yo. You ain't gonna sit around and do nothing. He was i. We're gonna open laptop of teach you how to use larger. You're going to learn how to cut your vocals. We learn how to do this. Sow sitting there doing lessons on my computer. Were him virtually. Take over my computer with screen. Sharing showed me how to kind of engineer. So i started keeping myself busy and then i started cutting records virtually from my house and i was just keeping myself busy that way and then The movies the movie came back around. I went and shot in. budapest stuff. Started to lime back up again. And i found myself working again and i was pretty grateful for that because i i was i think like the rest of the world. I was kinda like dang. What are we going to. What are we did you do this. All in yo. Y'all did you didn't leave new york like everybody else. Leave new york. I turn this one room of my apartment into like a weight back in shape. I worked down years and and i said i just had a moment where i was like. You're not going be sitting around doing nothing. I'm not gonna sit in a house and just be saying like can. Schlepping i was i saw went out and bought you. Couldn't even by way. So i was lifting. I got two gallons opponents spray or get out of here. The two gallons opponents bring. I had a i had a yoga mat and And i was able to get my hands on like a boat super bowl. You know working absence. And that was it and i just basic bands and stuff like that and i got with a trainer and we was virtually just like this and i set them up at the end of the room. Like yeah you could see me. You see me. He's like yeah. You good knowledge is like get after it in The pandemic actually became this. This moment of like Like i. I didn't know how much of a a blessing this moment. We're in the midst of this tragic time you know I do have to say that that there was a lot of light in this in this time and A lot of self reflection. I was able to spend more time with myself. I was on the goal run and run and run and run in and his time. Just there was a lot of good. That came out of it. Let me ask you a question. how are you and when i asked that question you know. I'm asking sincerely like mentally emotionally. How are you yeah. i'm good most days are good. You know every now and then. I have a rough one I think You know i was. I've been watching. Cnn i love you guys. I think dr jess let's just the climate and I've been doing therapy for two years Now men twice a week and it's been it's been a. That's been a blessing you know and it's been has been To see you know shows like you guys show and other shows like really like you know talk about this. Because it's hard you know and i i don't i'm not gonna sit up. Pan complained like there's been a lot of blessings going on the movies and this nadan mo in my personal life and relationships but like yoga. Guess hard sometimes you you you sit you sit in by yourself and you like damn you know a friend of mine asked me. How am i like Not too long ago. When i said you know might man but sometimes i ask myself what am i. What am i doing this for you. Know like why do i do. I really know why. Get up in the morning. Still like i have asthma questions. Sometimes 'cause to someone on the outside could be like what do you mean. Of course you get up because you in movies are movies tv. You're doing this. You know moving in you yet. You getting after it but like why. Why am i going after known you figure that out. Have you broke that down. I think i think every day is every day is a new reason right like not every day but every now and then the reason changes right and be like oh from family for myself. You know for You know. Because i think this thing would be an amazing thing to to achieve would accomplish. This would make me happy. But sometimes yeah i have moments where i have to ask myself that question but but but i do all in all because i love it you know. Somebody asked me the other day. I was doing. I was doing playback a plane back my album for people and stuff and yeah yeah come on blessings right and i like the guy asked me. He goes how do you balance everything like. Why why do you. How do you do the movies. And the tv and the music and i say. I'm not gonna lie to you bro. I said it gets exhausted. Doing these playbacks for you. I said this is exhausting. I said it gets exhausting. Being told no like time and time again people are just like no. Nah that song in good enough that they're moving ain't gonna here. He's our act. he thought i know he's too. He's too young. Or he's to there. Some and i said but the reason why i do it all because i love it and i said if i didn't love it i wouldn't even be here with you right now like plan you. This music You know because at the end of the day you know. I believe in what i'm doing and i believe in museum believe in my work and myself and i was like you know that's why i that's why i get up and do this but you know the beauty of those knows all it takes is one. Yes the exhilarate you again the same way. All those can exhaust you one. Yes can feel you us exactly what i sets in two. I said to him. I said i get told no so many times but i said when i get that yes dash gets me to the next moment where i can get the next one because i'm told i can't tell you how many things i haven't gotten to do. How many jobs. I haven't gotten a home. But i can tell you know i can name the yeses right. I can name those tyler. somebody's out. Yeah yeah 'cause dash got me.

"To wear back. So i'm a huge fan of hamilton. Like many like many others. I just have some questions that i just need to be cleared up so in satisfied they like reverse the choreography lake to the exact and it kind of freaks me out. How perfect and distinctive. What was it like learning that it was the worst thing ever. It was so hard it was probably the single hardest thing i've done. How did you how did that take. I mean so we. We took long. We started learning it like we started learning a even before we went to the public theater. You know and brought like we did like a like they. Call them like workshops like we did like a lab of the show we started learning helpless helpless was hard already and then he said oh. We're going to do this by backwards. And is a move and on a turntable. Have so many hours so many hours and then it is not learning that i lab. We learned it but we didn't have a turntable. And the ad is turntable to relearn at into production so we basically had to learn again. It was joe as wild like my brain. The frustration cannot explain you the frustration that i experienced with that with learning that it was crazy. But it's insane being ever. And i felt people who watch unto ziemba. Okay watch it again. Make sure you notice that they do it all back because it brings an entire other element to it. Yeah 'cause she's she's recounting. The moment to her head likes he's recalling the the whole brilliant ahead and and and andy blanket bueller are choreographers We call them the mad scientist. Ooh this is the thing. he's Kaz just i just. No one understands how he's able to come up with the ideas he comes up with is just is crazy. Yeah and so we actually had a so joy. Fisher was my first ever interview when i was thirteen. Seven hundred now come on how so we had him on my podcast which was so full circle and he called linneman woolmer under the modern day. Shakespeare which i think is the most accurate term. I've heard yet sun okay. Do you agree that are. Do you have another name that you'd like to go for. No i think he. I think that's it. He's the for sure that new twitter bio think we all call them that you know like whatever thought that hip hop would would Crossover right into broadway in in the same in the same space. where like. There's like rodgers and hammerstein. Stephen silas will. Actually stephen sondheim was writing raps and i think he knew he was. Iran's when you listen to into the woods you listened the song like a your fault as well. It is a mouthful he was given those bs you was. We might for bees but without those things have been no stop to get up to the giants in the place made it harder magic like they they really are and you'll think of it that way because it's it's to me I actually. I did a piece for radio. Disney worry went backstage at broadway on hamilton. And i learned that the dress in burn. That allies dress is flame retardant. So i was wondering if there's any other little secrets like that that you know of you could share. I didn't know that dan teaches you. Something my dang. Wow like any little things that he went on. No yeah 'cause i remember. I lifted one of the costumes and they were heavy. Oh yeah not accustomed crazy like is i think I think that people might not know is I wore a wig in the i with like towards if you really like look closely. You won't see it. You won't see it in the movie because the movie was still my real hair. But i had gotten a tv show. And i started working on that on the netflix show. She's gotta have it when i cut my hair A little bit and not direct. I yo we gotta give you away. So i used rene days off. Way that she wore off broadway. They snipped it up to the length of my hair. Will i. it was too long. So i looked like some like in all greasy and curly. And like i'm not gonna lie was obvio- it was about all so you're like it was to the point where i would i. I went on stage with that week. In in Mccaslin wearing a wig. And i walked out on stage and they start laughing so we start my shy with singing it with that. We dohrmann shot with doing it. Makassar are laughing on stage. And then i start lasted or i think i started laughing and they because they everybody's all math and we could not get through We we couldn't get through my shot and can get the story of tonight and it lasts all away until Until through story of tonight this is a live performance though. I feel bad that show with those songs that kind of works because your characters are like the boroughs and that so it kinda works. The laughing kind of fits in burn. That would happen. It doesn't work when you don't sing the lyrics because you know laughing and not singing lyrics like it was like laughing on stage people must have been looking at is like your what are they laugh announce talking like red in the face shoulder. Gut laugh flakes. They hurting yes. It was crazy. Because nobody thought i was going to have this wave on Little more like natural people can kinda can tell that. I was wearing a wig. No actually get that way that we do. You should just wear for interviews and not say anything right. I there way back. I think so. You have any cool hamilton pieces at your house like something from the show. Did you ever take anything or do not allow. You took my philip letter. Yeah i took that letter cancelling on where it is. I know i'm not gonna storage but yes I took my philip lead. I wanted. I wanted to have something from mexico. So so that's a good though. No and actually has the poem wanted. Daddy daddy learned. My name. is philip. Oh my gosh. That's how cool. I was listening to the soundtrack the other day and Stay alive reprise like when your characters dying. I realize there's a heartbeat.

"The time it's like i'm sad because you don't. You're not used using that word because it's of told you to like man up or things right but that becomes a habit. You can't even identify when it's deeper than just being angry. Exactly you know what i'm saying. And i think i think that Intern cuts us off from actually being able to connect with people. Because it's almost so funny is like talking to my therapist about his yesterday and it was math. You know before you make an assumption about what something is. Maybe we just start off with saying like i feel like the like this person is saying something kind of like not nice to me or i feel like This doesn't seem right now. Go into like a therapy session about level. And we're around words critic and you know what on this podcast. I'm like offer therapy. There's like i've been going for years and it's so underrated say other everybody's doing if you do it. You should do it. Please like this. I mean i think of it like people like you should work out your body but therapies working out your mind like it's the same equivalent you gotta have both though in your family like. I think it's important for you to you. Know for us to be in shape physically but we have after the like. how how. How are we gonna progress as artists if we progress in right like how human continued right like like is almost like how. How do we dig deeper in what we say as art soon. What we talk about if we aren't digging deeper likes in our own like lives internal. You know what i'm saying like. Oh absolutely you know like it's like the more we dig right and like look you can make a whole like i could be like this. The second album is is Is not as Personal per se like like every story leads into the next right but the second album was still very much like jr story driven every zone still story driven but i wanted to add Like i wanted this album. Feel like i said i said to a friend of mine. Explain me like yo. What's the difference between for sound second myself first. Album is like story time. You know pop up book. Second album is leg. The nitro six flags great adventure like house like we still. We're going on a ride. You know what it's like out by but there's like you know there's all these new small stories but just with this. Adrenaline is pumping like tulse that his album. That you know. I'm excited about but it's just like how do we are. We digging side. And how do we dig deep to find out like your like 'cause that's how you explore to we dig and the more we explore inward the more the i think the more the world starts to open up get a different perspective on things so i listened to stop and oh my goodness it makes me happy. Especially with what's going on in the world. I feel like it kind of makes you take a moment and breathe being like whoa slow down and enjoy the moment and i saw you in an interview and they were talking about how you made a makeshift during quarantine and was with a blanket. Was this that song. Yes so that bridge so the whole bridge very When you love somebody when the moment is you know that whole bridge. I did underneath quote like i had a academy is where i put that joint. Oh my head right here. And i have my life. My this is my fire who are here. Nine sort of but I've just come up. Vocals and mike is a man stuff like that but it came you. I'm glad i know it was this song. It's like wait. They heard some locals in there. I wonder if this is the one where he did under a blanket. Pretty iconic the Yeah it was that yeah. That song was homemade but with the process of writing it you know what was what was i was in. La for late for two months writing engines right right every day. Most days. I like five days a week or whatever and this was the last song that i was writing on this trip in la. I think i wrote. We wrote the song leading marsh third or something like that or marsh and left home back to new york on march fourth and this was before the shutdown. It was just about me how i had problems stopping in my life and how i this was always felt like i've been running and i'm always like working on. Doing some always always need to be doing fine. If i'm not doing anything. Mike calling a friend to see if we can hang out like not just like i just don't know how to sit. You know what i'm saying. And just show and i need a rice song about that. And then that's that's how kind of lyrics came bow and i wrote the song with some awesome right as one of my boys castle who i went to college with joel and then Shawn douglas amy watson and jesse shatkin row produced it. And who's in there we will go on but at the fourth and it was just like sometimes. I wish my life was like a photograph. Double tap the go was inches photoshop. That put him in my wallet in my pocket if i need them then a got life. Don't work like that. sometimes. I feel like i'm in nikes on the track. Even when my feet are up my mind is run fast. When i'm home. I get impatient. When i'm gonna kinda hated. My life. works like that. The sunsets an open water skies full of technical of beauty. Right in front of you some. There's so much to discover if you stop we the in for the moment stop. Give it a minute in your own. It stop only just begun so it'll be almost over so to stop. You know like see what comes into focus stops kind of crazy which we noticed stops like a set and sign soon. It'll be almost over so stop. No and that's what the song was excite. You know second. Look through the window of a train. My visions blurry what is going through the window of a train but my visions blurry so it all looks the same. All the people in the places all the voices in the faces. They all just stare back in a long talks cups of coffee waking up saints. Sorry love is right. In front of your. We finally see each other. We stopped songs about y'all. Let's just see what happens if you like. Do that for yourself. And let's see what happens when you do that. It helps me understand lyrics so much more because you tell it like a story even though you're just saying the lyrics it's incredible No thanks man. Yeah i think that's kind of like. I always try to speak the lyrics always like even before we finish every session. I'm like speak lyrics. like the you know. Say the lyrics cycle monologue list. Because if we say that way one of my musical theater. Teachers taught me to actually in college. Jeffrey done garza. Soma he's al. Less speak if you speak the let us through the monologue first. And then he used to make us. Do this thing called the caveman. So we used to only take like the words. It'd be like you know if us like a look window. Train vision blurry saying In a vision blurry look same. People places voices faces.

"Episode is coming out so for the first episode of season two. I am so honored to say that anthony ramos is my guest. I have been a fan of his music and talent for a long time. We talk about so many things from the stigma around mental health guys hamilton. Behind the scene stories of course the new album. He's working on filming the movie in the heights. Tau he's actually creating a musical and we talk about a very special charity. He works with that. I'm so excited for you guys to hear about and finally this was recorded before the election. So that is why we did not talk about it. I hope you enjoy the first episode of season two anthony. I'm so excited to my podcast. You have no idea to happen. We come on. actually. I saw you in concert in brooklyn. Wow one of the best concerts. i've been to genuinely one of the best. I think one of the reasons why. I love it because you gave context before every song and you kind of explain the lyrics and actually learning difference in auditory processing so allowed me to understand the lyrics and the music on an entirely different level. So i think more should be doing that. My gosh. she just made my whole day. We end the interview right now. This is amazing. Thing to have your. That's so awesome. I'm glad you're. I'm glad there for because i try to do that. I was like did you go to so many shows. you like. Dang i wish i could understand clearance in the context behind found him. Yeah yeah yeah you know and like where did this song come from and like some songs in our personal right but like but but when they are like yo wanna know like who was that. Who was that person you talk about. The first versa was that. When did that happen to you. Like what was that time in your life you know. How old were you where were you. You know what. I'm saying like that kind of thing kind of just makes me feel more connected to the song you know even as as the same as an audience member. Yeah well i also think that the good and bad is so brilliant. Because it's this it's like it's kind of like a movie. It's the chapter of your chapter of your life that it's told so eloquently and it's kind of like a show. Yeah yeah yeah you know what's crazy is like when i was writing all these songs like they were all like little movies in my head. You know like making a movie craze out. I started talking. I started thinking about it. I was thinking about how to develop this as a as a as fell more mute movie musical. I don't know if we're going to do it but it was like some house like this story. Hit like like all we gotta do is put some by logging between a regatta story. Yeah yeah imagine being like an animation. Now be so thick but you know it was crazy life even so even like So from ucla is the fourth song album and one more hour is the third and one more hour. It was like about the two people who had this like long night and they were hanging out on shelves right. Yeah and then. At the end of the song i was like. Y'all would've we had because the next song was about vacation. I took with my fiance mcgraw. Jasmine went to puerto. Rico as i would have. We had likes the piano at the end. Guess dreamy like if you close your eyes you can hit so that we put birds at the end is just about to say those little those little things that you put in it like sets it up for the next song so it flow so perfectly as though i'm glad you i'm glad to dig it. Yeah yeah we. Yeah i mean i ca. I lost my favorite part about our together to like like. I love putting out singles but my favorite part about making music is like being able to whole body of work together and really like peace. The songs together like i. What goes where. Why does this go here are we. Will we need uptempo here. We wanna feel pulse right here. You know what i'm saying. It's those little things that really make it altogether that a lot of people don't notice One of my favorite songs figure it out and there's a line in it Why am i pushing away with silent task to say and when i heard that i was like that is so powerful though. I was wondering how you came up with that line. I was having a hard time really Really dealing with myself in all just really having a hard time dealing with myself and a guest with myself in the silence to you know. I think there's a thing that comes with being silent. Now we have phones and now we have all these things to distract us. Right in in i was just kinda like downs. Who else like depressed like tan. Like why am. I feeling like this in In in what is this recurring theme in my life. That keeps happening that. I can't like i can't just shut my mind off. I don't know how to sit quietly mike. I'm always doing something always like. I'm like working on talking on a phone or might sex and somebody will listen to the music always like like on watching something or like like so. That was where that lyric came from. You know why. Am i pushing away. Silence has to say you know. Why do i push through. The daily tomorrow is gonna figure it out. You know like someone else will figure it out. You'd think about even right now like you know. Even now in the world had to stop and we're seeing this like for example black lives matter been around for Seven years that actual organization. I think rights is on in the seventh year coming on seven. But like this is this year views like this crazy. Wave of twenty. Twenty if we're if you feel me but like in the middle of a pandemic when we're when we weren't winning we've all had to stop you know and i think like this thing. When we stopped up the truth the truth makes his way to the service. And you can't even the and it's always been there but because right you can't can't you can't avoid your your brother or your sister your mommy that whoever you quarantine with your significant of you cannot ignore whatever compensations. Y'all may have not had before you do quarantine all in the house to like. You know what. I'm saying like found can only keep you busy for so long during quarantine only so many so much. Tv you can watch and and there's only so many times you could take somebody before you look at that person and you're sitting across mitch on so nighttime we we should talk about this. I also feel like with your music. You're just your. There's this weird stigma that like is can like have feelings or be down or the anxious or depressed and i just think you like you word it so perfectly that it's so normal but like i'm curious why you don't think it's talked about enough. You know to be honest with you. I don't know why Does this thing about like this thing about men. I think that we have sometimes that we feel week. If we're vulnerable vulnerability weakness ri- right as opposed to in our as opposed to Someone who was not afraid to be like you know. I think we substitute sadness with anger. I think men mostly are at least maseru. Most of them in ahmed right and i know myself to right. We substitute sadness with anger. We like it's not it's like it's always like i'm frustrated but it's like most of.
