Is it a sign of laziness or design of people wanting to make sure they absolutely nail it and they'll take whatever advise them suggestions they can get through human internet or connected devices. Well that's a big question. Yes by the way. I think it's convenience. I think Weber is aware of the popularity of pellet grills smokers. They make one now. I think they know that gas grills are awkward there inconvenient. They often burn and ruined. Food and that Indoor ovens you can set it and forget it and that. There's no reason why you can't do the same with an outdoor grill that it should have a thermostat a few years ago. My ge oven thermostat controller died on man. I went online. And i found a replacement and i Repaired it for thirty bucks. Why can't my weber or other. Gas grill have a thermostat on it that i can set and control and that i know that i can roast something at twenty five or three twenty five and i can set a timer on it and i think this is the logical next step and i've been calling for it for years. I've been asking weber. When are you going to put a thermostat controller now. They've gone the iphone route. They're connecting it to the app and you can control it from there. I think this just a natural progression. I think in another five years. Most gas grills will be thermostat control effect charcoal grills which are more crude than gas grills charcoal grills have had thermostat controllers for years now the barbecue.

Last year, I introduced you to, SBA sensation todd who sixteen of th time she went an sea event right here in Cleveland also as as she won that event earned herself a golden ticket to the world championships and Fort Worth or she did end up finishing bid pack tonight introduce you to an even younger steak prodigy earning many calls in the events that he is cooked in joining me tonight to talk about his cooking process how we got into it sitting in as his dad as well. Let's at the hotline and welcome in First Time to the show Aj Luhan and. Second time or to the show and Co host of the pitmasters pocket. The Anthony Luhan jets, appreciate you taking time this evening hopefully, you enjoyed the balance of the meathead interview Aj. Hopefully, you learned about the icon that is amazing. Ribs Dot Com and the founder. Mita are you familiar AJ with amazing ribs dot com that a website that the kids hit up for all their live fire Info. I don't have. You S night. there. Hello. Okay. There we are. There I'm sorry. Is that is that a a website that you're hitting? Aj. Now. You've never heard of the most heavily trafficked barbecue and grilling website ever on the face of the earth. nope oh, man well. What kind of a kid are you raising over there anthony? My goodness I figure that was like something. You would have saved in the bookmarks and every day you have to go back through and start going through the three thousand pages of what meet at has. Man I'm just a sponsor. I just give him the stuff that he needs to do. He just shows US cooks and goes home. That's right. No doubt. So before we get into the stay caulk Anthony, let me ask you something a little off the board I'm hearing rumblings, and this is why I'm asking to confirm. That you and this other Guy Rusty Monson do the show and it's really the only time that you guys actually talk. Perhaps there might be some growing disdain between you guys as well. How do you pleased to these charges? Man We actually recorded earlier tonight and we covered that actually. Resting are we're actually good friends together we barbecue we watch football you know. I gotTa tell you. There were actors, Internet Scuttlebutt that's going on I figured, Hey, I got fifty percent that's coming on right now I got the other fifty percent in two weeks. So we'll, of course have to ask him for his opinion, but you're saying right now on October thirteenth everything is good. As of now yes. All right, very good All right. So Aj let's talk about. Before the steak talk pardon me. Fifteen is I'd mentioned. So that makes you is that a freshman in high school. The fresh. How has? Twenty twenty and corona virus specifically affected you. We talk about it a lot here on this show with folks that are within the Lai fire industry competitors aren't competing as much or at least you know March. April. May when things were really dialed back, businesses are going out of business It's hard to eat in a restaurant. How is the corona virus affected US specifically? It's obviously made school a little bit harder. I'm doing online. It's A. Can't really go out that much. Hang out with friends. Family Makes it harder to go out and eat obviously. So just at home ordering. And cooking down didn't they. Have you noticed that a lot of your mates are doing a lot of home eating and they're like Aj this blows because guess what I just figured out that mom and dad are terrible cooks and that's why we go out to eat all the time. Yeah. It's probably cool to have a dad that knows how to Cook Pretty Awesome I I. Guess. Yeah it awesome up. All right. So let's talk about competitive stake here. Aj I don't know. How or where kids get introduced like yourself as I had mentioned last year, I had A. Lady by the name of Angel Todd on who was only one year your senior at that point. How are you even introduced to SCA? I went to competitions with my dad and his watch them cook and. Then he asked me if I wanted to compete in I said chair I'll give reshot is something you're looking at and saying it's not that technical. We're not splitting atoms here looks from a process fairly simple and it's something that you can handle and and you think you could be successful editor where you just excited to just give it a try. I was excited to give a try but also looked decently easy a steak saw I'll give it a shot. Have you been to the barbecue competitions that your does does as well? Yep now, how would you compare those are are you are you as or at all interested in partaking in a competition barbecue? Now I'm not really interested in that seems like a lot more work to do you. Got To be like really rich to do that to you gotTa have a camper and WAG. ooh Beef and all that other stuff. Definitely. Yeah. Alright. So stake is a little bit more. Your role is what I'm understanding so. Talk to me a little bit about those first couple, stay cook off what kind of process do you have in place? Who are you leaning on for guidance of what kind of practice are you getting in before you hit that I. Usually for the practice we make. To or one day before we cook a steak and see if we WANNA, use anything that Kinda new or stick to the same. And.

"I've mentioned a couple of weeks ago. T shirts are in the making they will be very expensive. They will be very unique collector's items if you will the fun and frivolity show t shirts. So be on the lookout for those. If you want to jump in on the show this evening love to have you here's how you do that. You can get in touch with a robot calling to one, six, two, zero, zero, nine, six, six. Email, Greg at the BBC Choose Central Show Dot Com on the twitter instagram said bbq central show anything else you WANNA find out about the show can be found at the main website, the bbq central show dot com, and here's what's happening kitchen at the newsletter coming up in about twelve to thirteen minutes from now is the second Tuesday of the month. which you know if you're a fan of the show brings a visit from the creator of Amazing Ribs Dot Com meathead. However. If you join me last week during the first Tuesday of the month. You would know that October is special because I am taking my. Regulars. Or recurring guests or whatever you WanNa call them and doing what I'm terming the origin stories of all of them. So for instance, last week, if you're just new to the show, you're just fighting it here on the thirteenth of October. I had a origin story in the first hour last week with Malcolm Breed from how to barbecue right and in the second hour I had one with Sam the cooking guy who's my second, our regular Tuesday guests of the on the first Tuesday of the month that was really convoluted as I was saying it out loud. And the the concept or the idea here is. I would say on the whole. If you're somewhat knowledgeable about the industry, you can find some rudimentary information. Meet heads got a really big bio on amazing ribs. Dot Com that he wrote I don't think anybody else on the show that maybe Stephen. But nobody has a quite the extensive bio like meathead has on amazing ribs dot com so I wanted to. Put together a piece that is within this timeframe that we're in now that you can go back and reference or perhaps I can go back and reference them for you. If you shoot me an email and go, hey, I would really love to know more about Malcolm or Steven Reich winner Robin Lindores or the embedded correspondents will now I will have a point in time that I can go back and say, Hey, this is all current. We did a deep dive back from when they were born all the way to present day and here's what you have now ten or fifteen years from now. Obviously that could be a little bit dated if we might have to do some more or renew some origin stories on the folks that are still alive. So we'll hold that off for now but really looking forward to doing the second week here in October of origin stories with meathead. So format is changing a little bit. I. Mean we're still doing the segments is still going to be beat head, but I am also allotting for time into the second hour because we are literally starting from the beginning. So I don't want to rush through it. That's why we want long with I mean we fed Malcolm in an hour because. He was fairly succinct in how he was answering the questions just fit within the hour Sam one an hour and a half I'm not putting any. Real. Time constraints on meathead. So we're going to do first hour, and then if it breaches over into the second hour or most of the second hour, that's fine I do have a thirty five past the second our guest for the bullpen segment. His name is AJ Luhan. He is a competitive state cook. He's fifteen years old. The name the last name sounds familiar. It's because he is A. Son To one the. Anthony. Luhan. who was a CO host of the pitmasters podcast so looking forward. To doing a special show yet again, meet heads origin story which I've been looking forward to ever since I came up with this concept, don't forget you can follow me socially at the following platforms, instagram, twitter, Tiktok, and snapchat. All of those can be found at bbq central show. You can get me on facebook and twitch slash bbq central show also back on. Youtube live this week. I. Got that figured out slash rd Randy is the place to find me on Youtube, and Oh, by the way, there is a super chat available. So please go ahead and super chat me two, hundred, three, hundred, five, hundred dollars take all the money. No problem there. So if you're wondering what those little things at the something to do with stickers something to do with Super Chad, I have no idea exactly what that entails but. I'm wondering if you super chat me that basically means you have to pay some kind of money and then your particular post will stay up for a corresponding period of time I think five hundred dollars gets you hours or something ridiculous. So I'm just wondering if it actually shows up on the social media feed that I have where I'm watching your interaction with each other here through youtube and facebook twitter as well. So we'll see how that works up. First. Off Ton of great feedback the first set of origin stories. I did last week with Malcolm and Sam. The common theme was that while you already knew some stuff about each of these guys, there was plenty that you didn't know about them. And getting to know. A little bit more intimate details for these guys gives you a deeper appreciation for them. Get you more connected to them bigger fans of them say for me by the way. So. Glad. You're liking that I sat and as I mentioned a few minutes ago forward to getting down with meathead in about five minutes from now also. I. Got a lot of this reaction is well that I wasn't anticipating and I'm paraphrasing this doesn't have anything to do with the origin stories per se. It said something along the lines of Greg you're doing a lot of origin stories on regular guests. This might be the perfect time to give us the origin stories on why you hate Jack Nicholas and can't disarm. And as the Fifteenth and the twentieth will that was roughly referencing the same type of idea. I thought to myself. Is there an origin story? For by hatred of the Golden Bear. And, one of the most successful horse jockeys ever I mean I'm not talking Mike Smith successful but. Successful, enough for me to know who he is in a lineup. And I thought. How long could that story really be? It would go along this kind of time line. Jack Nicklaus is born. At some point in his life becomes a raging asshole. And then I met him and he continues to be a raging asshole the aunt. That's his origin story right there. Jack Nick. Now, cantor's might be a little different. Very. Similar but perhaps a little different in this way. Can't disarm Oh is borne. Probably illegitimately. Can't disarm Oh at some point after being born also becomes a raging asshole however. Also becomes a belligerent drunk. Then I meet him. Piece still is a incredible asshole. And I would have to believe a belligerent drunk. And.

"Week reboot and thanks to the Anthony Luhan from the pitmasters podcast, I bring back the director of technology at Lyon Energy Steve Shades of to show and to talk solar energy and how it could benefit you the backyard cook as well as you the competition cook and we're doing it from the pit master podcast in the Great City of Utah. So we raised to the hotline and welcome back. Steve. Steve Harvey Pal. Great. Greg. Thanks for having me back. Guess what Audio's great? No doubt. Anthony and I only for seventeen hours yesterday to make sure that the audio was good. So let's go ahead and run it right back from beginning little background you personally professionally, and then we'll build into the line energy stuff. Sure so My background is in electrical engineering degree huge barbecue enthusiasts, of course that doesn't hurt. I've been at Lyon energy now for. Seven years. And about the last four is the director of technology. And We make portable power. You know power storage is really what we're all about ad. In this case, the product we're talking about is portable. and. It has a great. Impact a great. Application when it comes to outdoor grilling, right because now these grills smokers, they need power to run, and that's what we're interested in providing people. Wherever. That may be. Director of technology sounds like a very important capacity with the company. Are you driving the technological vision of the company trying to push the envelope as it were? Part of it I was working primarily an engineering before which had a lot more impact on the individual products Now my focus is more on. The software that we use to run our business and on the website and. Everything that goes along with that. So You know our digital presence I guess. Is a lot about what I do but. During the time that the Safari Lt, which is the product we're talking about the moment was being created I. Did have a pretty large impact on that product the time Steve's Jay's joining me here on the show lion energy dot com, the website. So do you have a quick thumbnail background of how lion energy came to be and how it got off the ground? Yes Oh originally. Originally we had more focus in emergency preparedness and we focused more on doing whole sale and we focused on. You know we were selling to we were making price for other companies and putting their name on it. For several years and So in the past few years with you know at least five years of experience. During, the time I had been here we started going more direct to consumer and started to push more of the line energy brand instead of making products for other companies and so That's been going really well for us and this barbecue market has really been a big part of that as well, which is always a market that I'm happy support. Is there a good margin in or is there? Is there a better margin going direct to consumer versus private label? Typically in the market people would say, yes. Really we just want to be able to have a positive impact as a company and have people know that it's line energy? Building a brand, US is not so much about going direct to consumer and having a better margin It's more about having people know that there's a company out there that's got back and it's going to provide good products and good service and being able to be recognized as that company. And just be powering a lot of pellet smokers. Successfully let's talk about some items that you are offering. The consumers were obviously going to be talking about the far as lt but what else have in the portfolio? So. At like I said we focus on power storage and we try to cover the whole spectrum from very small all the way up to a very large so. If you go to our website, you'll see that we have products ranging from power banks. All. The way up to Y- batteries that people can use in their RV's We also do whole home storage, right. So you could you know the converters in the battery backups that people use for off grid homes and cabins and things like that. Are also available. Right now are lithium batteries are also very popular. Like I was saying for those typically used as replacements for our or they're used. Like for trolling motors and boats the Safari Lt has gained a lot of. Traction in the barbecue community because it's lights ten pounds, it's has the.

"Phone all the way. Home Splur-. Residential actually. and. Steve. Hate to say this. But we are still incredibly choppy. So maybe we can try and circle back next week or week after that. As much as I want to have this conversation I cannot have that kind of phone connection through no fault of your own either. We don't hold anything against the people from the Great City of Utah. I can tell you that just as rusty, the Anthony Luhan. Perhaps too of your biggest supporters by the way. They are very geeked about the whole thing, but poor connection according to skype. Thank you for that. Sky. It happens again. Getting back and forth, everything seems great. just never know. Just one of those things. However. I. We attempt to. A lesser show would have the guest. Continued to talk and make the listener suffer through. And I'm not going to. Do that. A reason to do that. So we'll line Steve back up again at a different time because here's here's the thought I was interested when Russi talked about it or I prompted him to talk a little bit about it last week, and he gave a lot of high level over by an energy and gave a lot of personal testimonial to how he was using it at his particular competition sites and I think he has the Safari Lt and had had the a solar panels that plug into the unit itself to charge it up. But. He had said. At least one or two different occasions that even running all things that he ran. He wasn't able to even take a bar or two off of the beater. So the thing is eating power. Now, I think where the potential and this is what I was GONNA ask. Steve. About I think you know where some of the issue or. I. Don't know not even confusion lies is. When you talk about competitions, some people were wondering well, is this something that? We could. Get. INTO FROM A. Trailer standpoint and that's where I don't know if. It would be a able to power. Twenty, five or thirty. I. Don't even know what the dimensions of trailers barbecue trailers are. But typically those are running on generators and or they have their own power supply or you have the ship to shore power, whatever it is. But what happens if you aren't on a? Or you're not add a competition that has that kind of power. Or, what if the power goes out like that's something that I don't hear a lot of people talk about maybe black people aren't talking about it because it just doesn't go out. But, you don't want to be in a situation where especially if you're a team that has a lot of. Electronic? Dependent. Devices. Like if you're a team that just cooks on pellet cookers, we'll guess what you're one hundred percent dependent on power. So if the power goes out at some point during the competition. Hopefully, you're up and aware you have a generator. You can just punch on the plug everything in and you're not losing too much. You probably have to go through a startup since the power drops out. But with a lion energy product from what I understand. You're able to plug in, and then if the whole competition loses power that, who, cares. You have your power. It's not a gasoline powered generator if it doesn't matter that much to you from A. Footprint standpoint carbon EPA or otherwise than. I know the Honda generators run a super quiet. That's what they're known for. You pay that premium for not having a lot of the sound, but you could also have a completely noiseless operation with a solar product. So we'll line. Steve back up again, maybe next week week after that as it fits into his schedule and will, lol, learn a little bit more about the. Lion Energy. One of the other things that I had seen. Is. Let's see. Orange. He's good. For the evening. There was A. Where did it go? Oh. CRIPES wait. I. Sent it to myself, parentis. Now I want you to look street. You recall last week I was talking about the horse meat. Movement? And I had mentioned Diane me specifically and said how you know during the Ron of extravagant success of the. Course meet. Movement Years Seventeen Eighteen nineteen infecting the national level volleyball players in highschool. Cross the country wanting t shirts and so forth. I had mentioned that during that time and pro-horse as she should be Diane, me had self banned from the show. She didn't agree with my horse meat. And to protest, she band herself from listening to the show up. We've since come together. We've also not had a horse meat with this year particularly because of what the? Corona virus. Has Really, stymied the progress of twenty. One. But she had sent me some messages last week that I was trying to figure out when I could share these with you. But. Now seems to be a great time when I'm able to share. So let me cut over here. Did I ever tell you the horse meat. Trophy story. I WANNA grand. Championship at a contest where the organizer owns a small Western theme town. So, on the top of the trophy was gold cowboy and a bucking. Bronco. After the award ceremony, a random woman came up to me and asked me if I had won the horse meat category. because. The other first place trophies had a pig, a cow and a chicken. So. She thought I won the Horse Meat Category. To get that message from. Diane. Filled me with Glee and delight. It's spectacular. I. Think it's great that some lady thought that. She won the horsemeat contests like I mean. I think everybody. But that lady. Knows that horse meat here in the states is one hundred percent illegal..

"Slash bbq central show on facebook. As we think Robin for joining us this past segment. She had made mention of some creepy grandma account. Now months ago. Could it be a year now? Already it could. I mean definitely months ago. I mean it could be a year I. Guess. But. What I'm here to tell you is. We have tease. I. Talked to Robin Three hours ago or four hours ago. In. Preparation for this segment. And, we agree that we were going to connect the different way. Whatever Go. And right at the end she said, Hey, maybe we can finally talk about that instagram account that we've been teasing months and months and months. Well, we didn't come to that again so. I will now tease it again. Next month, there is a potential opportunity that we will talk about some creepy instagram account that Robin was GonNa talk about months and months ago, we might not get into it. But we might get into it. Who knows. But. I will say that out loud. We might talk about. Here's something I was wondering who was going to notice when I didn't scroll back through all the comments. Guy. Chisholm. Rights. Green shirt. Equals no green screen. I could never wear the shirt before. There was no way. I was ever going to wear the shirt. I mean I, wear it except that. It would. You would just see. The neck up. The shirt would blend in with green screen, I would get keyed out in a heartbeat. So that's why we've moved to the completely natural fabric brick. Which, I think looks pretty good. Very happy with it. I'm very happy with the whole setup I, wish you could see the confidence monitor that I have set up. It's huge. It's a, it's a normal television, just running out from the tower to the computer. Or to the screen. So if somebody were to come in to this portion of the Studio Aka, the unfinished basement, they could pull up a chair slap on some headphones and then watched the show on television. then. If I guess I can just angle it and they can see the show happening as it is. Because seeing it like this, you know all you know you can see bricks over here. You can see the light. You know. Too. Little, unprofessional. But. Not from the head on view, it looks very professional, of course. So. Without the green screen I'm free to widen by. Wardrobe choices if you will. So. We'll see how that works out. I might be wearing a lot. I. Had a lot of these five of these shirts. Red One, blue one, a grey one. Green one. Another one that I can think of right off the top of my head, but it's probably one of those normal collars. So. I can start wearing those now and it's going to be very exciting. Episode One, hundred and thirty, six taking you back to August fifth twenty fourteen. This'll be coming up Friday on the best moments of the barbecue central show the most raved about shows. In the history of this show have always been competition barbecue roundtables and the format. I would ask the three top pitmasters from each kcbs category to come on the show, and for an hour, they would break down and share the entire recipe technique for cooking. Whatever protein we were discussing that night. In this episode, we talk brisket with the top three at the time Donnie brave from Warren County, pork choppers, I. Don't know if he's still competing at this point, but he was a runner-up for team of the year. I think the next year, he was actually team of the year so. In, his timeframe, one of the most successful competition cooks and traveled all over the country to do. It gave some really great prices from what I understand had a great setup in Kentucky. Probably still has a great setup in duckie. Jason. Goal from G.. Q. Barbecue was in and rounding out the panel was Jim. Eleazar from sweet smoke Q.. Both are currently competing Jason a lot more into the restaurant side of things, but when he can fit it in under a normal calendar year. We'll get some contests in still is Highly Professional. It's like highly. That's all right. We got area code eight, zero, one name and where you're calling from. Lake City Salt Lake City. WHO's this? Lee Anthony Luhan. The Anthony Lewis. What can I do for owner? What happened? If you've called the show would happen? Well. First of all, I should've had my skype on mute. So you wouldn't have heard the skype tones come in, and then I get a notification that there's a call coming in and I decided at that very moment. Do I wanNA break format of the take that I'm in and received the phone call or do I just let it go to voicemail and continue on carrying the show as I normally do. But I will I was encouraged. I was encouraged to pick up the phone and LO and behold it's smoke ain't no jokes pit master, the Anthony. Third. So. This past weekend anthony. I did did. I beat my son. That's all that matters saw finally was a day contest or was it a barbecue contest or what? Sea. event. Yes. It was I was able to pick up a check as well to took fourth out of thirty nine teams. What does that what? Was that what? Does that get you? Hundred Fifty Bucks you know. Back. That's. What. I didn't get the message from rosty that I was Gonna be repaying his entry fee. Did you notice a a large influx of straight up sears on steaks or no? Actually. I didn't There's only two serious stakes that I know of in rusty with one of them, and he did not perform as expected and he does not WanNa talk about it anymore. So we'll move on from AL, right. I'll be making a special note to bring that up in the fourth Tuesday of the month about searing stakes. No doubt about it. You'RE GONNA be competing this coming weekend anthony. Not. This. Weekend on taking the weekend off though where they've been going on around here. So I think they can have the following weekend. So how many teams are in that right now you know. So far from what I've heard. There's Pushing close to thirty so we'll.

"Com on the twitter history bbq central show anything else you WANNA find out about the show can be found at the main website, the bbq central show dot com, and here's what's happening coming up in about twelve minutes from now first Tuesday of the month we are. Now in August if you can believe it, I remember when we were talking about mid March and we were wondering if we were ever going to see April, there's one of my favorite social media posts. By a guy that I'm not going to remember Leslie Jordan I think is his name. He's like its tail March. How many days March Can. Right that guy. then. I remember thinking. We might never see April Lo and behold. It is the very beginnings of August and twenty twenty remaining. At rapidly coming to a close as I've said before and before and before, and I'll say it again before the years out, trust me a number of times. The. Two thousand twenty regardless of everything else that in it's. Almost diverged into something that I probably shouldn't have. But I'm here to tell you that regardless of everything else that is going on. In the World Today Twenty Twenty Still. Rapidly coming to a close, you can count on that if nothing else you can count on that. coming up in the first interview segment because it is a first Tuesday of a month of course that brings visit for Malcolm read and how to barbecue right lots of stuff to talk about Malcolm with not the least of which is his new benchmark of subscribers. Now, surpassing one million if you can believe. So we'll talk to Malcolm about the big crossover through that threshold. And we'll talk some food as well, and we'll get his take on competition STAFA. College football naked and afraid TV shows all the fun stuff with Malcolm of course. That'll be Malcolm read here in a few minutes and then thirty five past the hour we had to do a little shuffling here. Normally. The other second Tuesday of the month guest is Sam the cooking guy he is not going to be in this evening because he's celebrating his thirty fifth wedding anniversary with his wife so we will spend congratulations. Easy to see why Sam had to bow out. And skip the show. So we did a little re book if you will. Robin Lindores the typical third Tuesday of the month gassed along with Steven Reich. Reichman. Has Graciously, accepted a book into the show this evening. Now, you will recall you're a follower of the recurring guests that Robin and Stephen were hung up in the whole computer blow up scene from two weeks ago. So we were GONNA go without a Robin July but I said, Hey Sam has an anniversary I have an open slot, the WanNa slide in that you didn't see July. And she said, absolutely. So here's what's going to have. Thirty five past the hour Robin Lindores is going to slide it. Sam The cooking guy is going to go in the second hour the Tuesday of the month, and that is his option I ended that perhaps we just go right through a August into September and no reason about the no reason to to re book and he said now I wanNa make sure that I am good and holding up his end of the bargain where he can or agreement. Or whatever you WANNA call it. So. He's going second our third Tuesday of the month Robin. Lindores will be ended about thirty minutes from now. So that way were locked and loaded with recurring guests although they are a little bit out of order. But I'm gracious on both ends to Robin and Sam four making all of this APP then will move to the second hour of the show. And rosty monsoon, the new latest and greatest imbedded correspondent from the Great City of Utah mentioned it last week or actually prompted him because I didn't really know too much about about was a company called Lion Energy. and. There were in the solar and I believe they sponsor pitmasters podcast if not above the Anthony Luhan and rusty monsoons cooking team there separate teams. So that would be to potential sponsorships. I might be talking at school here, but there are some kind of a relationship there. So I've become. Almost endlessly fascinated with lion energy and what they're doing and what it's all about. So I reached out to guy by the name of Steve. and Said Hey the shazier. and. said, would you like to come on the show? Let's get the background. Let's talk about the products but see where they actually fit because I think there was some confusion last week. That line energy. At least, some of their products might be able to usurp a generator in a trailer type setting and I don't think that's what we're talking about here. Brought talking about a trailer typesetting like those big thirty, fifty footers or anything. But if you bring a Honda generator or a raptor generator, one of these things that make a lot of noise you want to get away from the noise altogether you WanNa be more green perhaps let's even greener. than. This is an option that is one hundred, real one, hundred percent a opportunity for you to look into. So Steve is to be on and we'll be talking about line energy and then close out the show. A semi recurring guest friend of mine and friend of the show owner of Kelly bbq in Spring Valley California. Sean. Wall. Chef will join me. Sean.

"Oh absolutely, if I didn't have a couple of twenty, two hundred, now, Honda's laying around the all into it, and I'm already invested. But yeah, I. Think it's fantastic. I'd love to get my hands on. Does the company have growth potential here rusty or are they going to be making inroads to all this fire lifestyle or what? I think. So I mean they came and talked to us about it. So Anthony and I both have won a lot of the barbecue guys why have one so I think it's crucial for it I. Mean. It'd be nice to see people having it out. You know 'cause I'm a kind of a hippy that way I like to see people going away from gas and things like that. So that's one good point of it, but I'm starting to see a lot of people getting them and using them in the barbecue world in the Lai fire world. So. Hopefully. They're Nice. How many amps? How many amps rusting? You know I don't know I'm not sure. Okay. Okay. Rusty. You said you powered your green. Mountain. Grow with it. Do you use the pizza oven insert with that too? No? Not Yet? I haven't. I have I have had my own pizza oven so I don't need it. Don't need. You don't need to breathe I mean Green Mountain, Grill and pizza of an insert or like hand in hand like food saver and barbecue. What are you doing? It cooks, chicken, and that's it just sits in the corner. Looks really pretty when it's time to cook some chicken, the yacht with A. Chicken. That's it. Man? No one nothing else goes in that grandma and but chicken. Well, let me tell you something. This is why competition barbecue continues to fail in this generation because. You have different cookers for different meats. You have a green mountain, grilled chicken cooker. You have a drum to cook this. You have something else to cook that by the way Doug that I have an answer for you on how many watts if you look at the screen here from the Anthony, Luhan. Five hundred watts bundling. So okay, that's not many amps. Okay. Five hundred watt. So it's a whatever amp calculator that it's four or five am. For him to tell you and a half you don't. Won't use that Green Mound, go for anything else. Well, I have other cookers for. So we discussed I hate clean. I hate moving and I hate cleaning man I'm not. I don't have to go cookout clean out a if I can get away with not doing a chicken cooker. Awesome nobody touches it, and that's why all right we're talking with the embedded correspondents right here. Doug, shining to my right on. Solberg. Down there at the bottom left. and New and audible. Rusty. Monson at the bottom right from Utah. Guys go ahead and hang out here just for a moment and all come right back. We'll talk about, Paul, Shoddy, we'll talk about. Promoter's sanctioning bodies, not even talk about the subway Rib Sando because we love Barbecue Sandoz here on this show. South side market is something else. We love anyone who loves sausage and Barbecue YOU'RE GONNA. WanNa, listen to this. First of all, they're established in eighteen, eighty two..

"Before Tuesday, of the month after two weeks off. No better way to get going. then. By a rolling in the embedded correspondents. So as I on mute them, we welcome in long runnings correspondent to the show Doug Shining top Reid John, Solberg Michigan, bottom left, and brand. Nubian. Embedded correspondent from the great city of Utah Rusty. Monster. Area. All right. So Rusty. Let's start with you since you're the newest. If folks Mr First couple appearances, very brief background on you what you're into and we'll take it from there. And Russ. You GotTa on Mute Yourself. Test, governor. Rusty. Where's your audio pal? Nothing. Boy. Boys. What do we know about this? This is not the way we make our first impressions on the show. I can tell you that. Not Been there where where's the Anthony Luhan when you need that guy is always ready, look. He's. Already. He's walked off. In his defense great banner in the background, it's not even green screen. You can believe Doug. Can you hear me? Yes i. can you hear me on? You can hear me right. John can hear John, can you say something I make sure I have you live in? Perth. Absolutely all you have me live, and in person I have you person still? No Rusty. That's a shame. Well. Let's. Let's do this. Let's go ahead and make it really uncomfortable push in on rusty and see what's going on. Let's Go Rossi? What's the problem? What are we doing? Ready, one, two, three, go. No. John. Let's start with you. Tonight. Worst moving stories, things that you hate or love about move. I, hate moving so much I. Don't do it. I haven't moved. I really and the next. The next time I plan on moving unless there's some weird economic thing which is you know possible currently have be. Getting a big. TV. Going to my room to watch barbecue pitmasters and you know where I'm going. Then you're going into the retirement home if I remember correctly. Homemade Ryan Nursing Home, you're GonNa Watch pitmasters. You're going watch the pay per view barbecue, show that day Neil Don. You're going to get all your viewing done at that time. When they get caught up with at and maybe the walking dead in my spare time. All right. Doug, your worst moving story. Well up until the sixth grade. I'm an Air Force Brat sound. We moved every year up until I was in the sixth grade. So. The kids built a legos and had furniture and pack them in and. Watch them. I was just fascinated by the movers packing stuff in. So one particular time I. Think it was when we were moving to Denver. I remember how they packed. The moving van, right the back of the moving van and then when we got to Denver. Things were in a different order. and Lo and behold all of our electron. Ix. magically disappeared off that. Way. All my dad's stereo equipment. You know back. Then it was a lot like your setup you've got but. It was a Tragic thing. So we always would have when we moved after that. We always had another car that would a tow, a trailer that had all of our. Things that we didn't stole. On. Doug beyond is here. Did did dad have these things stolen and we did a little insurance to upgrade or these were straight up? Hi Ho. Yeah. Oh No, these were high because these were stuff that he got through is is. Military travels and stuff like that. All the old stuff real to real and that kind of stuff. Yeah it. Company, Times. Did you move grownup? Gosh. Awhile, and maybe lambing times. Are you kidding I mean as a youth that has the F. View? Mentally mean, you never can like Landon. Grow roots anywhere. You just you're. A new set of friends the next year right I I was. I was a definite introvert. I was definitely introverted l. seventh-grade sometime rusty shut up now. Okay. Just because I'm in the middle of it. All right. Just because. We can hear you now. You GotTa shut up. All Right Mike near you. Yes. Yes. Long. Running embedded correspondent, rusty monsoon be joining us. So I mean, did you did you find that been? Can you look back at that time and all Doug and say that moving around has helped you in any way as you've gotten older. Yeah, maybe it's helped me meet new people every time you know because basically I'd have to meet. But for a long time I had problem developing friendship relationships because the. Bottom right here. Yeah. Why Bother? Exactly. So kind of the same thing when you go on a plane I, don't want to talk to the people on the plane, never never see him against. Me Alone. Yeah. leaving a rusty. What's your worst moving story that you can regale us with? I was a terrible like I don't know twenty year old and I would rather go out and you know live as a twenty year old and pay rent, and so I lived on the seventh floor of a apartment where the only stares down were like this wide and it was seven floors down and I got a victim to leave that night. and. So I got told, and so I had only had one other friend to help me to carry all my stuff down. And I got so frustrated actually this through couches off the balcony and broke. His other ones and so yeah, it was pretty bad. I. Hate Moving I. Think it's the worst thing ever. My wife apparently just loves it. She. We've been together for ten years. We've moved eight times. Are you kidding me? Air. First. One is washing would fall asleep on the couch falls over the couch, and then she'd have to wake up and go upstairs to go to sleep and she couldn't. She couldn't do it. So we had to move and then we were. Just. She couldn't do it like she was physically impaired and couldn't do it or she just didn't WanNa, do it. When she goes to bed, she's asleep. You know she doesn't want to wake up and walk all the way upstairs. I realized how sleepworks but I mean come on. If you're GONNA fall asleep somewhere and you wanna go to bed, you gotta put in the work. Right. Yes. So I just hire movers. Now I'm done I. Don't I don't do anything I. Really Don't let me tell you as somebody who has just recently moved and I've done. I haven't moved a lot. I think we moved You know very small handful of times a kid, but they weren't like a dog moving around every six seconds We moved the very young to Saratoga and we were there through the sixth grade until we moved to Cleveland and then I've been here since so it. It was like you know sixth grade move has kind of I mean I didn't really care, but that could be weird for some folks but it was okay. So I've been here ever since then I've moved through a couple different apartments. So we moved out of last apartment, a first house and Then we when we built a house and we moved out of that one, we've moved here to this one and you know through the years I've gotten older and I said Holy Crap. A I don't know nearly as many people as I did six years ago when we moved this time when I had a plentiful number of folks to help me Bupe, for I could get the truck and employ everybody I'd make food and. They lend me their muscles and away we go. I didn't have that time there. I'm telling you, I hired these movers best fourteen bucks. Fourteen hundred bucks I ever spent in my life. These guys showed up. They are all strong like bull. The one guy could pack that deal like Doug was talking about like Lincoln logs and whatever else, and they brought it all here and shift it all down, and all we had to do was unpack i. mean it was the least backbreaking work. In fact, this whole move has been. A constitution of me paying for things that I can do could I move? Yes. I'm going to pay somebody to do that Could I paint the house? Yes. I pay somebody. Do that why? Because I'm not GONNA be able to get that time back that I'm spending? Painting the House. AM My saving money. Yes. We guess what? I'M GONNA make more money next week. So at this point, I'll pay the painter, I'll pay the BUBER. Sure exactly. Who Else I'm paying pretty much does it. But those are things that I would never have thought of laying out for as a younger me. But an older be fines much value in that John. If you were gonNA move, would you do all that stuff or are you akin to? Now, no. Mover alcohol? No. No. I'm ten years in front of you. So fast forward where you're at now, it's like, no, it's like what? What can I sell trade or do what? I I'm not moving Matt I'M GONNA Call Them I'm not painting. I'm not going on my roof I'm not I'm not doing certain things. I'm paying to have that done now. John..

"Here's what's happening. In case you can get the newsletter coming up in out thirteen minutes from now is a bonafide well respected and one of my favorite food bloggers to follow at least over the last ten years. He's been on the show. A number of times was on handful of. Of months ago, nobody's coming back here as we break in the new set and the new studio here in the new digs Mike Lang from another pint. Please will be joining me in other pine, please dot com his website. You can also follow him on instagram where he does a lot of posting. We'll be talking about some things that he has on instagram and we'll be talking a lot about steak because I wanted to. Ask All of my guests this evening out there? Stay cooking methods and all that good stuff. So, Mike Lang at the first interview segment in the first hour, and then in the second interview or thirty five past I'm going to hold the ever popular open straggling so. If. You have questions if you want phone calls if you're going to send emails all of this. Go ahead and weighed about a half an hour, and then started lobbing them in I. will cover it all if you have nothing to add to that conversation. I'm here to fill that second interview gap. We'll talk all about what happened. Last week. We'll talk about the BOO. We'll talk about how the new satis taking shape or the new studio was taking shape. We're going to be talking about a lot of items. Would love to have you participate, so it's up to you if you want to jump in, but that's thirty five past the hour. And then we will move to the second hour. It is the fourth Tuesday of the month and you know what that means. We re fire. The embedded correspondents segment that we have a new embedded correspondent. Don't follow me socially which I'll give you that information here in a second, you would know that a two-time guests on the show by the name of Rusty Monson. The pit master of salt, Lake. Barbecue is a latest and greatest to add to the embedded correspondents team of the two long standbys. Doug shining the longest running embedded correspondent on the show and John Solberg, who is now the second longest running embedded correspondent on the show by the way rusty, having his first bed. Correspondent appearance also garners the title third longest running correspondent of the show. You know what that's wrong. Totally incorrect. I'm sorry he's not the third longest running. Jeff Rice is the third longest running. Fourth longest now is rusty. Monson, so I'll be interested in having rusty. Join US here as we start to fold in some new blood and Rossi brings a unique perspective, and that's why I asked him to consider jumping on board mothership. And, that's the fact that he is not a jaded vet to the competition seen by any stretch of the imagination, but he is. Not a green person. He's right in that wheelhouse of really eager barbecue competitor, and he's not just doing barbecue competitions. He's also doing steak. And other stuff. Andy hosts zone show with the Anthony. LUHAN OF SMOKE AIn't no joke barbecue, so he's got a lot of irons in the fire is bringing a lot of good energy got lots of good takes a to get on the abetted correspondence people that could talk decently and aren't afraid to let it fly as it were, and can bring a good round experience at the table I'm really good at. At moderating folks, but the guests are really good at their respective areas of expertise and the knowledge bases that they're bringing, so I'm very excited to have rusty. Join us in the second hour of the fourth Tuesday of every month. I do have the social media facebook thing Ng so I can see the comments for instance Brian Scott. Shannon is saying that Kovic is fake news, I don't think it's fake Brian. But if it's fake news to you then hey. Who Am I to argue? Mike. Just, interview Blaine on our two. He's already on, and he can speak to the Cova judging status. covid running rampant through judging tents. Doug dirt is and we love Doug. Is for Pittsburgh on hold that against the. Very very excited to be back amongst the fold. Somebody wants to know if I'm wearing eyeliner I'm not wearing anything. In fact as we take a look at the new studio. Lot of you might wonder where the woodwork has gone. That believe it or not. That wasn't a real would backdrop that I had in the old house that was the green screen that I was making use of believe it or not. This background is not a green screen at all. This is A. This is A. What do you call it of a fabric backdrop? Watch this. See, I could headed moves. It's great. So. I decided to give a traditional background shot. Maybe do away. So this is what my hair really looks like. Outside of the Green Screen Artifact where some folks that I had a chrome sideburn or platinum I. Think was the one that we are also throwing around. The brick won't hurt me. In case, I fall backwards shock at some answers that I might be getting for Mike Lang or the embedded correspondents here on the shell. I just fall right back through it, not I mean I might hit. The real poured cement wall. That's behind me the tolling the house up. Now few changes, a little bit bigger space might hear a little room ambience, which I'm going to try and figure out how to. Get killed off here, but that just might be my years nobody else..

"Sorry about that. Tomorrow will be my next show all right, so We were at the an apology I'm not going to say this. Right the Traeger, nor you state Barbecue Championships. I don't even know what it is a headline I'd say I try and say it all the time so I know. Yeah, it was up in Ogden. Yeah, we have it every year. Except for last year. It was a little bit. It wasn't as cool. It wasn't a KCBS last year, but yeah, it's one of the more popular ones here in Utah. We got a lot of. The same thing, but it wasn't. Eighteen job. Okay, so they didn't bother getting sanctioning for that, but. Then you have four times. The amount of team show up a year later were thirty two teams there. We were everyone's begging for a man. We have people out of California people out of boy I aho. Wyoming Arizona you name it? Yeah, notables, their smoke ain't no joke, which happens to be your co host Anthony Luhan Burnin and Luton. Was There Luton booty? was there sterling? Smith backdraft barbecue. was there one of the legends in competition? Barbecue I don't know if you knew this or not rusty, because your little green here to the competition but John Nil, Gis of parrot heads, smokers I think John is currently one four, hundred, eighty, seven thousand grand championships, so this was a pretty stacked field when you say. It was man. You pull up. Ahead there and. Barbecue Heroes Lie Christy Vanover from girls can grill and. Jerry and Sterling, and Gosh, man I was scared to death, pulling in there I was just cook and see how it goes, but we we're. You know we're good friends. All those guys and it's cool to hang album, so it's good to see him, so we don't get them very often especially now so. What I found interesting is that you had a nice run up to the contest via the latest podcast episode where you Anthony Basically lay out your entire process for leading up to a competition basically a week long event. Yeah it's really hard, and this one was harder because I was doing the answer. Larry's on basically anything because I can't help myself and so I. Do you know desert and we're doing steak and we're doing kcbs in the for me. It's and get everything ready for it. We start Sunday night. We start you know taking the barrels down a mop, and that's a process because there's like three of them and we cook on them all the time, so they're all greased up and. It takes a minute, so get that going the way tremor. Early sometimes, we term a month before, but this time we didn't so we'll take, and we don't want to go and have this huge huge like meat. Party you now, so we'd like to. Break it up. So Monday will do chicken and pork, and then Tuesday will do brisket and ribs, and then Wednesday were packing up everything and Thursday cleaning, everything and packing everything in and getting ready to go, so all we have to do is Friday morning. Walk out to the truck and bounce, and so that's quite a process, so yeah, it's about a week long and this one was every bit of a week long to get ready for it was just. Just right up the road, so imagine if we had to go to Wyoming which we often do or Colorado, which often do or Arizona which we often do. It's a little bit more than that. So yeah man, the barbecue. You're going to have to put some work in for sure rusty monster joining me here on the show talking about the big win this past weekend in Utah, you think talking it out with Anthony in that last episode helped additionally or You have a program you work at did matter if you guys were talking about it or not. It didn't matter if we talked about it because. For me, we have it all. Dial out, you know we have everything written down, so we have checklist days. We plan it out ahead of time like right now. We have a competition in August, fifteenth and Cab Utah, which is going to be a fun one because I love that frigging city. If you've never been, you should go. and we're already planning out how we're GONNA. Spend that I. You know the tweaks leading up to it were already planning on doing brisket now and. So, we lay it all out. And then we just execute the plan and then deleted the same with competitions. Man Whom we're in there we have. We had dialed into the minute sell. We have very similar program getting ready for it like I said. We're getting ready already for what a month and a half two months from now, so yeah, it's it's a it's how we do it. I know a lot of people don't do it like that, but it was cool to talk it out, too because Things you forget, but then. I think it helps a lot. Because when I first started, we didn't do anything like that and felt like we were forgetting stuff and we were not ready. You know and not mentally ready, and that really hurts your competition. You know it's people think that you know you can call this a sport or whatever you WanNa. Call it, but if you're not mentally prepared for it, you're not GonNa win a competition. It's a mental game, and so it helps talking it out especially in the podcast since we haven't done it so long. It was certain that it was therapeutic in a way. You know just to kind of okay walk through it. Okay Okay and just get in that mindset, and that's what that podcast it from me, anyway, hopefully everyone out there learn something from a to because I could have used that podcast a couple years back, so let's quickly recap the coke rusty. "Audio up here and I think that gets us all on guys me. Go ahead and a welcome you in right. So Greg who's got your vote. Who would your top three. Be Out of this list for how. Let's ease into this date. Let's not just jump right into bed. Daniel I mean holy crap. Wow we I mean I guess we know how you watch All right so closing out. The first hour I spoke with the host of the pitmasters podcast Anthony Luhan and Rusty Monson who both competed in an sea event in their home state of Utah. Just your summary Thoughts here. Are you guys surprise that there was a competition and are what are your thoughts on having that stuff start to potentially roll out across the country? Your thoughts on that. Wow What I want to sit at a judge's table not quite knowing how that food was treated before it arrived to me. I I don't know I mean I guess You know these days the the big argument here in Texas is Not THAT WE HAVE. A lot of our dining rooms opened up. Are you willing to go eat inside restaurant or you willing to go sit inside a dining room and get your food and a lot of people are a little wary about that for for health purposes but You know the other part of that is like if we're okay getting takeout That's still a lot of trust that putting in the kitchen. I guess that's the same level of trust you'd have to be putting into a Janney food that shows up at a judge's table Except the problem is if you're a restaurant you know who served to you if you're at the Judges Table Not so much ray. Your thoughts on competition starting to roll out in some form. The point where I mean. It's like everything else. I you know I had this conversation with my neighbor today. Everybody's gotTa do what they think is right right now. You Know I. I'm doing what I think is right and everybody else needs to do the same thing and God bless him. I hope we're all right. You know nobody's wrong on these decisions but I you know. I'M NOT GONNA Judge Anybody. Right now and I hope they don't judge me. Adrian your thoughts on competitions rolling out as long as they can do it safely. I'm open to the idea but like Ray. I'm I'm a little skeptical but if they can be safe do it. All Right. We are here talking with. And and by the way we do have Adrian back up and running here. So let's we have Adrienne Miller Daniel von Ray lampy joining me here on the show. We're here to talk about the nine semi finalists on the Twenty Twenty Barbecue Hall of fame ballot before we start to break down the names and their significance of the live fire industry. I don't want to just assume that everybody knows who you guys are as I gain new listeners. All the time and I just don't assume we all love to think everybody knows of course but can we take just a brief second. Get a little background on each of you guys. How long you've been on the Committee for the Barbecue Hall of fame and perhaps more importantly what you feel. You are bringing to that committee table. In regards to knowledge qualification. And all this stuff so Adrian. Let's start with right. I'm Adrienne Miller call myself. Soul food scholar. My tagline is dropping knowledge like hot biscuits so I was born and raised in Denver Colorado which loses me all street cred on the subject of Barbecue but Written a book on the history soul food black the White House and now I'm writing a book on the history of African American Barbecue. Should be out in a year from now and being barbecue joints all around the country. It's tradition I grew up in I've on the committee for this is about a year now. This is my second time going through the voting and one of the things that I'm really interested is just a a making sure that we have a diverse inclusive Barbecue all fame. That celebrates excellence as well. Daniel von your qualifications in quick background while it's a big on right there Well this is an industry that I've studied since long before I even became barbecue editor So as far as studying the names in the in the competition world Certainly more familiar with the restaurants for world as well as the historical figures So I feel like I'm Well rounded in. I guess knowledge of all those different industries You know and really when it comes down to it. We're all in a big committee here and I'm feel like I'm pretty good at arguing as well. And that's that's half the fun Ray lampy. Who are you just showed up here? I mean I'm pretty. Well known I think my my background in the barbecue competition world but you know along with that came a obsession with barbecue which covers so many things so I I accidentally became a pretty well. Schooled historian on my own Like I said people thinking me as the competition guy but I wrote a book Barbecue Road trip in two thousand four and you know so. I've been studying this thing from all sides for a long time. I'm the new guy on the committee in quite an honor to be included with these guys are like I said I myself was a cook but And I think these guys are the guys who are writing and doing all the research and stuff and it's kind of fun to be included with him. Do you think it is important for you know if it wasn't you if it was somebody of your ilk to be in this committee so it's not just a bunch of guys that are well versed on the history and the culture but somebody who has also been on the cooking not saying these guys don't Cook but you know I'm you know from a competition side who knew who are seeing it from a different perspective. Well I think the other guys comment on it but I think there were people on the list that I was more familiar with than the other. Panelists just because I've lived in that world. Maybe more of us you know Adrian said diversity. And I'm a huge proponent of that I I've been a little bit involved with the barbecue all fame since inception Mike Tucker and Ray. Basso good friends of mine when they started it and I've always felt diversity was the what was going to make it viable and I mean black people white people fat ones skinny ones Texans and Carolinians and men and women and you name it I mean every every single possible angle diversity needed to happen and liquid pretty good job so I hopefully. I bring a little bit of that to the table to Daniel. Be The the FAT White Guy so. I'm not perfect and may diverse classes but but I sure do like a lot of diverse folks. Dan Did you think it's good to have somebody of of Race standing on that committee to to bring his point of view. Well I mean absolutely I was GonNa stop you before and say It's sounds like saying raise not cultured which I'd have to argue with That was actually really refreshing to a raise input You know we had. We've got lots of folks here On the list who who are from the restaurant side which I am well versed in But a lot of folks from the competition side that maybe I wasn't as well versed in I mean I'll say right now that Bill Arnold wouldn't be on the list without Raise input really filling us in on his imports. Not Somebody who is incredibly well known from You know stacking all the wins and grand championships competitions. Like you know tuffy stone. Who's already in the hall of fame and Darren Worth us on the list here You know it was somebody who had a real contribution to competition barbecue that Maybe isn't as obvious as putting big trophies up there and and really I think without raising input I think we none of us would have been as well educated on On really what he brought to the game Adrian your thoughts on having a guy like ray on the panel this time. Yeah I'm just GonNa Echo Daniel Kazaa. I didn't know a lot. A lot about the competition. Finalists or the nomination. So Ray was very helpful in kind of sorting that out so Yeah I'm glad to have him in the mix so let's talk a little. Let me say I want to say Greg. I want to say something about that. I I am happy to carry the torch for the competition. Guys I asked the beginning of the meeting if that was my position there But I can tell you and I hope these guys will back me up. I I question the competition guys too. When we talk about diversity I also WanNa see a diverse career for these hall of fame guys and just wanted a bunch of trophies. Cut It for me. You know it. It's going to be an important part but you gotta do some other stuff all right So let's talk about the hall of fame here just for a second and its history for a bit and you might find it hard to believe guys but there are some folks out there who have no idea that there was a barbecue hall of fame that it even exists. Can't believe even if there's no physical place. They didn't even know that there was a barbecue hall of fame. So Ray you alluded to it a couple of minutes ago but and you probably know more about the history of the Barbecue Hall of fame prior to the American royal getting. Its hands on it. So the best bessie recollection. How was it born? And how and who were the folks that originally installed this? Yeah Well Ray. Basso who had the original? Bbq Forum starts in. I think ninety five and back in the day there was nowhere else to hang out. We didn't have facebook and all that and so a lot of barbecue. Guys were were made friends there and Mike. Tucker from hog is barbecue up in Right outside the MOINA. Anthony Iowa Mike was always a big proponent. Mike would always fund these these crazy projects so they bought Whatever that website that they use is and they started to barbecue hall of Fame Online and those are now known as the legacy candidates early legacy members when they sold it or was a transaction that they gave it to the the American royal and the intention was to take it to the next level I don't know why the American royal always considered those members different than everybody else but they do and that's what that's all about But it's it's been a good thing I you know it. We started way too late man. This thing needed to start fifty years ago and I think we're getting there but when you look at that list there's just so many people that do belong into Barbecue Hall of fame and it's GonNa take a while to get caught up. That's what I what I think. We just started way too late Adrian. We have been some of the. We've seen some of the biggest evolutions Of the hall sense. It has transitioned from the online entity. That ray was talking about to the American royal taking over. What do you think some of the biggest changes that you've seen over that timeframe are so just getting it started enrolling has been good I do quibble though about the diversity. I don't think we have enough especially African. Americans represented in our Barbecue Hall of fame. Which is one reason why I got involved but I think that it's starting to show a nice spread of diverse styles in different genres within barbecue..
