"The first thing you think about just how. Football is a close contact sport. You know Wherever he hit. Hide everything with down with you know. Contact is gone with exchanges of those. Like you know with me. I'm just hoping everyone's doing the same thing. Just stand in prepping as if you know we were still rather routine you know because you never know never know what's GonNa come like like a sign. This is hard new. You know this is a new thing that's going on. It's crazy so no one really knows what that SPEC you know. It's like we're going. It seemed like it seems like we're going to date watching the news. You know hearing things from the news. I'm try my best staff move on me but my family they just coming out no Los Angeles GonNa be out for another three weeks now. They coming to this city is opening up. You know I try not to put together. I'm like does back to normal. That's that's what I wanNA hear. You know everything back to normal. I go to the store I could. I could do this not gonNA have to wait in line. You know But with NFL straight you know other league lost the audience from you know though but I can't imagine not playing in front fans are being a certain amount of you know what I'm saying are all having to take a shot. Think appealed Mean Immune Son Book. I'm just billboard on Care less you made it play ball murder. Get back to it on. Thursday gives the life but today all we can do is just keep working out sample. We all got our playbook ipad up so snap focus men just the mental part. They shot in our mental right. Now you know the mental morning physical. "I'm Jason Kirk and we're the host of the shutdown. Forecast Your avengers of college football podcast it says in the script to riff on what that means and basically what I mean it's all spoiled every Tuesday. We talk about everything from cooking disasters to pro wrestling too unfashionable pants worn middle school we also do talk about college football every every now and then like mascot fights announcers fleeing the booth early and unfashionable pants that coaches where now if you want to take college football exactly as seriously as it it should be taken subscribe for free on Apple podcasts or in your favorite podcast APP. Welcome back to from the podium. If you were listening before the break thank you got to hear a Patrick mahomes discuss how he prepares for his commercials because now we're dealing with a national superstar and he says it's like anything else you you practice and you get used to it and he feels pretty good about where that has gone. I thought it was interesting. When people were asking about Leshan McCoy A and his success mahomes downplayed it. He's a great teammate does that for Damian Williams. One of my questions was about protection of the offensive line because his mom took a beating and that's why his ankle has been hurting. That's why he's listed on the injury report and he said getting hit as part of the game just remains the ultimate teammate teammate and I think it's really cool for fans that he cares so much about this chiefs raiders rivalry it matters chiefs fence that the chiefs care about beating the raiders yes and Mahomes understands that understands how to be a good teammate stand up for his teammates obviously understands how to do commercials and he understands chiefs raiders and that's coming up on on Sunday at three. Oh Five era had time to wrap up from the podium with linebacker Anthony Hitchens hitchens from the podium the raiders rivalry with the chiefs either though may not pleading many years since we cover but it's pretty well documented. He's like each other yeah. It's blatantly clear that they don't like each other and it's it's awesome to be a part of it. seen some videos overuse pass and we actually watched video today show so it's a great rivalry they don't like us and we don't like them so back in the day we we. I heard Channel One football game and by any means. That's all we're trying to do is win. Football Game Blackhall is notorious for really given players a hard time scary. Whatever what are. What is your thoughts about them? Can you tune them out lately. Yeah Oh you can't when you want to fill. Is this hard to hear the player next to you. Let alone so when understands it's a great environment. If you're not ready for a trip you up fortunately this is my third time playing there. this will be my third time so. I'm used to crazy virement as everyone know they make thorough stuff. They talk smack and all that but once you go into fail you can't even hear them on the sideline. You might be a little difficult but when you're playing out there you're not really worrying about what the fans who. I'm just trying to get my guys lined up and play what is bags show some old fights. No it wasn't fight. It was just just the rivalry people talking to smack. A couple of big heads just the history of it. It's it's GonNa be a dogfight. It's going to be no physical football game. you know and that's what we know build on here. That's something different than what coach said that he had raised. The rivalry kind of the same thing embraced it. We know it's going to be a fight a physical game for me playing linebacker BECA atmosphere soak. You won't kind of challenge with Burnett. Last week talked about a lot now. You've got another guy highly touted but had done been the whole game last week that you about Jacobsen housing different preparing for it yeah. He's a good back. we don't face backs. Is this year as very similar one guy very hard to get on the space. We need more than one guy wrapping up and hitting them so every week is going to be a different challenge these first two weeks our backs. don't know who he played a week out there but I'm sure it's going to be more good bex It's just you know you just gotTa have team boss. UH stopping the run as I did a decent job you did a pretty good job. A couple of runs leaked out on us that we we want back but long as we do that make them one dimensional and let let Franken Chris and all those guys for us. You know we should be a successful pressing challenges dirt card shortly our asses and yeah. He's a veteran quarterback. He's seen a lot We've got some stuff for that but he's seen a lot. You know exactly where he's going. Most people say he just dip in dodge ball because you know exactly where he's going and era fishing offense they will. They take the two three yards four yards five yards. You don't got Chuck Todd Onfield and I just think that's you know Kudos to run game knowing the run game get him a second is short so we gotta be good on a first down run game brushing with the be Jesus how she will be talking about Darren lawlor able to see it again. Yeah we'll be talking about deal yeah yeah yeah we have in our room. I'm not sure if anyone on the talking about them but we have a good player can be out as receiver. You can be tied in long along. Lakey Guy so we got some things for them. it'll be interesting. You know just like every week. You know. He's got some stuff for you said I was off. I stopped liking play faster and you get over one hundred zero snaps train yeah always. There's some some things you want back. Some things to improve overall graded out pretty well in our room so just gotTa keep improving as week one on has nowhere where I want to be just trying to be no better every week by week sixteen. I'm better was you know we talked about the communication but he's lined up and now it's your job with from now alive situation with Dalian Journal comfortable with where you with have the process plus. The game plan the communication. You had between the guys in front of you. I WANNA say there's. PTA Snatch got everyone lined up everyone one for the information and went empty and we had a massive check on and get to it but other than that everyone was on the same page for the most part for the whole game Costa and come to me and say no wrong or anything like that so I think we all get I'm sure every every week going to add more to our plate and it's my job to get everybody lined up so the quarterback change having anything to do with changing the game plan it because you didn't have let's be a yeah you don't go in the game Game Week. What a game plan he was kind of hard to make a new game plan on the sideline and I'm it's a similar to now. I'm sure if they had that start and if I would have had a little different game plan so we did what we could obviously he went in and was very effective. quick throws completion rate was pretty high and a lot of stuff like that it was on us to. We've been blue a couple of coverages we gave them. A couple of easy looks assume we're building on defense too so that was a good opportunity for us to learn from Children Phil. What do you think younger lying message. It is it's about being physical and most physical team wins and then you could see guys talking smack on. NFL Out to fail so just be already. Keep your head on and you know and just play ball but it's GonNa be a physical match are going to be some bumps and bruises so I'm looking forward to also yeah. He's everywhere run sideline to sideline. He'd never gets tired and if you watch practice he's one those guys that enforce them fumbles. He had to be behind one. He probably was second behind one in five and turnovers throughout the from spring to camp he has his motor energy runs the ball. He trips to ball. He takes the ball so for him. You know can come in here as a free agent. and I'm just looking forward to the University of the year. I mean trust me. He's going to be a guy that you guys keep you. Is this what you want to do last week to this week. I defense things as you look at. The focus nine for you. Guys is preparing for the Rangers. Yeah everyone's different. Everyone has individual goals. They WANNA get better. Technique is and things like that but as a team I just gotta continue. That's one thing for Mike Backers Cotin and you get everybody lined up by a slip up you know just because they had a good week one so continue get everybody lined up to allow get my safeties and calm and Eli and my back occur so for me. It's just to work on to something that I messed up in a game and coach already got him an individual we work some getting off blocks little quicker assume pullers and getting our deficit just little things like that and being a pro is coming in and knowing you're wrong and fixing it so it seemed like the game the jags defense particularly. They're retired played hundred percent of the stats. How much do you feel like the way that rain is training king. How about you put me through putting a position where you were fresher pressured the other guy yeah they're probably like one or two plays out of fifty to sixty hours a little tired tire and and that was long drives but throughout the game. I wasn't tired all we do. Twelve fifteen plays sets here. You know in the heat so at the time it sucks but when you when you playing in the season you just you're thinking coach and a lot of our guys wouldn't retire so that fourth quarter came. We was playing like he was you know I nap and you can see that effect and other teams not to say they didn't conditioner not like that you just we we just went to work. I training camp on fifteen half gases and then coming to practice so a lot of things we're not doing that got a lot of buddies league. They're not doing it so yeah and it paid off and hopefully he just keeping keeping on so a few things on Anthony Hitchens. I think it's great how authentic he is. He wasn't afraid to say that there there is still a learning curve for this chiefs defense how he felt comfortable with all the calls except for one in East specifically pointed out the play really complimentary implementary of Damian Wilson and all that he does the guy who's playing next to him right now understands the challenge that goes into defending the Oakland raiders talking about guys like Rookie Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller and they're they're taking the raiders very seriously and yeah. There's been passed. Raider teams that I think you could maybe overlook and not prepares hard for but the chiefs realized this is a team coming off a Monday night football win and one that wants to win the AFC West Division yeah and if you watch hard knocks they're motivated. Jon Gruden is a motivator and then she probably have a tough challenge ahead of them on Sunday. I do WANNA switch gears ears now to what I talked about earlier. September eleventh for those of you who don't know Pete Sweeney the person that well I am from New York and I've moved to Kansas City to cover covered the chiefs about five or six years ago and I wrote a little something and I shared it to my personal instagram instagram dot.

"This is the podcast where you get to hear directly from your Kansas City chiefs and provide a little bit of color along the way today is the Wednesday September eleventh version of from from the podium and I think as Americans we all know what goes along with that and with that being said I do want to share something but I won't do so so until the end of the podcast so we'll get through your Kansas City chiefs and if you wanNA stick around I have some words about September eleventh. I I do WANNA share with you before we do that. Of course we're going to hear from chiefs head coach. Andy Reid quarterback Patrick Mahomes and linebacker Anthony Hitchens the chiefs turning the page from the forty forty two twenty six win over the Jacksonville Jaguars now focusing their attention on the Oakland Raiders Oakland Coliseum the last time in Oakland this Sunday three we oh five PM Arrowhead time. Let's get into the podium interviews. We're GONNA start which sheep's head coach Andy Reid. Here's Andy Reid from the podium the other injuries you know Patrick. He's GonNa Practice. Today's just a quick word in September eleventh. I realize that but again are too onto the responders and in the victims families of of of the September eleventh incidents interplay so we'll keep that close to her heart and then our minds at this time we look for or the challenge of playing the raiders football team. We saw that Monday night so we've got to go through the process of getting ourselves ready it to play them and again. We look forward to that challenge so time in writing his when you step in that stadium when you're out there you you understand the rivalry the guys that have been here they get it. It's a long standing rivalry discloses. You're GonNa have the college atmosphere that way. As far as I go and and then likewise when the raiders come here I think they realized that so I think it's a neat neat thing had our fans and their fans feeling and and the players show you get the rivalry when you really you. No you got those rivals here when you really start feeling if you if you look at the history of the NFL you realize it. I realized that when I came here I mean I know about it so if you've been around the NFL or studied it at all you gotta realize how important a I feel played there. I know you history. What's the best and worst part bathrooms flooded last year so I won't miss that you know I it's it's unique stadium. It's a little the thousand to it and you won't be plan land. Still Baseball season will be played on the dirt which doesn't happen in this league anymore so that part will be kind of neat and then the great since since I've been here and over time I know since I've been here we had some great battles out there and I wouldn't expect anything different. Short missile sure receiver can't play least Ringo what went into that decision making these for now has so you know we get dat back off of suspension and so um we still we should be okay there. We had worked Smith in their during the campaign so he can also do some things for us there so they felt like we'd be okay that that spot however we love triangle on you know that it really nothing. There wasn't anything on his performance formation's for that. Don't you mentioned the dirty. He'll put the fact how you prepare change guys just off so there's there's a low water table there anyways. I think we know that too so their turf is a bit slippery even when you're on the grass part so were that and then guys that haven't played on the dirt though he'll get out there and pre game and have a chance to work work with that so. Would you not call play because you're in the Dir- like a certain office and play. If you get more intuitive is that we just call the dirty plays dirt calls. Okay okay we're we're. We don't care still have to monitor Patrick so they keep a close eye on during the game I mean how do you process that our our medical staff rick and the doctors. They're the ones really monitoring. I didn't have a chance to watch them practice and he can move around to play so right now. He's you know he's feel pretty good so the practice that John coys workload could reasonably increase this week doc. I think we have a good blend. I can't tell you one way or the other but I would tell you that we're comfortable. Both guys and you know Oh sang so he can get in there and do the same too so I mean we're going to alter it was gonna be more effective on the ball with Williams this Jacksonville better when he helped me out and yeah it could be that could be the coverage is in the Frans presented some lots. Ah Things go into that are obviously instantly with Terengganu potentially. Take on bigger role. What do you mean to see. Maybe I guess I evaluate anyway so he's. We've rotated men so he he's played got to play. Ah During the Ota's got christened during that time and and and so we feel comfortable that he can step in and play and you know I'm not gonNA compare it. Sit here and compare them to a tyree Graham. We just go in and we play in so that's that's what he'll do but she'll come from. We can do this stuff we do. You don't have to change. Thanks Bernie running back in there so I hadn't thought about them. I mean you could I mean I mean that's why we'll talk on your understanding that the Jaguars offer one of the best better transcend. The league passed as a little cleaner to see my couple three hits. You don't WanNa get hit at all. I mean that's the objective and so as we got do better. I've got to do a better job. Put the is in the right position and when they are they. GonNa make sure they pick them up and talk. Go so what we're trying to keep them. Clean the whole again in your experience with your experience guy. If your total scheme would you try and do things like having fun now he said at the best this year your second year you're you're familiar with everything from the practices to the installs to whatever amount of plays into actually knowing that the play and then a lot of it comes off a known what the next year is is. GonNa do not just knowing your assignment but known the guy next year his assignment so you can play off of him so I think he takes a little bit of time to do that. Have a smart kid and we worked extremely hard now. We probably didn't cut me breaks because we hadn't playing all three positions and and so that's that's another load on there but he works extremely hard and he learned everything. I mean you saw him. Improve as the season went onto so trying to contain a phenomenal passage misses. I hit him in the pro bowl before I got the I've known as a as a kid and smart smart guy with a lot of talent and and so he's GonNa Player and we're aware that it's it's a great challenge who we played you. Go back and look at the table got hurt with a clean football. Play the tackle. There is some answer a game yeah. I think the play was that partner stuff after I probably questioned what happened. Initially was attacked. It took us with the team. You can be back as you said with you. The abyss big business is poised yeah. He's done it before. It's been kind of in opposition are working. Both of them were okay with that. I know I'll play mm-hmm. Yeah Indeed Rob. Where confident derived knows everything. He's got the whole thing down to so. We're not tied into one one thing or one person probably so I I think pretty good on the wind is how do you manage your such inconvenience kind of wind that success but time you are against absolutely. I wanted to have success. I love the competition I mean. That's why we're in this and so I know that it'd be well coached. I mean really well coached so I love that I think are coaches low that challenge because he's got good coaches and then they they went through a retool that team is off season and they've got good players so you love that part. That's what you spend all these hours. Do what you do and you want the best you want other guys healthy and everybody you know that's how you want and and then you go play. A great part about this news brought over Aussies. It's one of those guys. Give me one of the guys that kind of the leader of that gets young guys. What were you takeaways himself. I think mostly knows that defense headed out so you give them different looks he. He can be the adjuster on that and get guys so from a coaching standpoint. He helps out uh-huh and that way so he's GonNa Coach on the field goal. I guess maybe it certainly I prefer to congratulate you. Love the process as opposed thrown okay if they play I remember very long so in this day and age so with with free agency and all that so they can play you explain point their talents mega man and cut them loose to go and you remember feeling on nine eleven. And how much do you think in the days afterward were we. We were part of the House right there on the eastern seaboard. They're in Philadelphia and remember very well. I mean I've ever talked calling my sherman who was in Green Bay area. Actually he called me and wanted to talk about football. You know he's going on and he wasn't even aware that it was going on so it's a but I think everybody in the eastern seaboard was pretty locked in on on where where things are happening and how they were happening and then afterwards I thought the country degree Java Rally Phanom Sports taught absolutely absolutely a big part of their par- getting everybody back something to jumping on a very important a positive way in a a negative very negative situation that was a real positive so some classy words there from Andy Reid as he's asked about September eleventh again more at the end of this podcast if you if you do wanNA stick around when it comes to the chiefs notes Andy Reid was asked about Byron pringle the chiefs ended up releasing Byran in Pringle Wendy Anthony Thomas came off his suspension pringle did clear waivers and he is now back with the chiefs as a member of the practice squad but it it seems like with tyreek. Hill now being absent. The chiefs are are turning back to tremont. Smith so tremont. Smith went from a cornerback to an offensive player. During training training camp went back to a cornerback to begin the season and now with the injury to hell. The chiefs will be working him as an offensive player once again. Andy Reid wasn't willing to commit that there'd be more work for Leshan McCoy but I think things are trending in that direction probably gonNA end up being a fifty fifty split this weekend and in my estimation a lot of Nice words about Sammy Watkins Sammy Watkins coming off one hundred and ninety eight yard effort against the Jacksonville Jaguars three touchdowns downs Watkins looked outstanding and read credits both his ability to learn the playbook and it has to be his willingness and what he did this off season to stay a in shape and the chiefs are going to need that to continue now without tyreek. Hill one of my questions that I asked read about Jon Gruden and these are two coaches reading Gruden Rudin that grew up together in the nineteen nineties is coaches with the Green Bay packers and so I asked him. Is it tough seeing him succeed given the fact that you're playing him in the AFC West Division and I think read answered it perfectly..

"Williams is bigger sure he's GONNA be more stout so if you put Chris Jones on the end let him attack the be gap through an offensive tackle rather than trying to hold against a double team. You're going to have more success so why not do that if he's willing to play at two hundred eighty pounds and the logic on that goes goes the exact same when we're talking about base linebackers I know a lot of people are worried about Anthony Hitchens's the will but think about it from that regard having Reggie Ragland Daime Wilson Anthony Hitchens out there on obvious rundowns guys with Xabier Williams and Brooklyn Speaks or Mike Daniels Colin Saunders or a big guy on the interior there it just makes sense you set yourself up from more seconded nines second second and eight instead of second threes. You know we saw too often last year. Bob Sutton couldn't get off the field on second down. I know that that that doesn't make any sense but can make that he would give up the first down in the first two downs every single like they rarely got to third downs where they were actually good but it this is going to be a situation where you're going to have more second longs because they can play a little heavier personnel and maybe that gives your your corners a little bit more more room to work with. Maybe maybe that gives your pass rush an opportunity to get to get some pressure because you know you can't quit game to get to death necessarily. <hes> you know so. We'll see I mean if you're looking for a mold for Chris. This Jones think clay's Campbell you even think Michael Bennett usage with the seahawks. We're talking guys that played defensive than than kick inside or even if you just WANNA pure body Stanford Camera Jordan for the Saints Plays Four Three Defensive End and he'd probably weighs more than Chris Jones those right right now and he's GonNa play a defensive end the entire season you can play a Christian size and not be a problem and you can still kick inside and rush like Michael Bennett son his whole career like glazed Campbell's doing now that he's been Jacksonville. There's a path to do exactly..

"What if I've, I've thought about this differently if they do draft pick one, Tevin Coleman do John's, we know they, they've been connected to do Johnson different times if they do do that. And even if the twenty fifteen season unfolds, the way does they probably still don't draft Zeke in twenty sixteen and then that's probably Jalen Ramsey, and then who knows the way the rest of the, you know insults. Yeah. Because every year your, your roster determines, what you're going to be doing in the draft. So, yeah, it just goes on and on. You know, you said it's a heap rabble, let's get back to this because we, you know, we, we took a detour. We stopped we guest up. We got some snacks buggies. And we, we were talking too much time. Let's get back in the car and stay down this rabbit hole. You know if Anthony Hitchens penalty stands, what happens to Tony romo's legacy because that was half of his playoff victories for the cobwebs yet that win. Then the win over the Philadelphia Eagles, five years prior. I mean, we saw I, I don't think much is affected in terms of the way the Cowboys you him because they were inclined to go with deck. Anyway. Two years later, but how is Tony Romo perceived across Cowboys fandom if he finished his career with only one playoff victory. We never get that moment where he's lying on the ground on his belly after he found terms for the touchdown. If this Anthony, Hitchens penalty stands, you know, and he's robbed of that moment, robbed of that sort of indication. How, how does the fan base e him in your opinion? If things go this way. I certainly would have cut into his legacy fairly significantly not just because you wouldn't have had the victory in that game. But, you know there is a perception, if he got robbed then in the next game, you know, the, the, the infamous catch that wasn't what really was. But even more importantly, it was the fumble by DeMarco Murray. You know Roma was quarterbacking that game well enough to win it. You're talking around him Jess, and it was, you know the the Murray flood. And then the, you know, the officiating which I gotta be careful how I wanna language about that. But yeah. I think the fact that everyone looked at Roma's having been let down by a teammate and by the officials, really well end up colouring his reputation in how people remember him a player a lot more than you might think. I really think that would really hurt if you would just have been seen. He wouldn't have had this image of a guy that just never quite had everything fall into place for him. He would have been seen a lot more guy that really just couldn't win the big ones. So I mean I don't wanna put words in your mouth. And I if, if this is the case, I absolutely agree with you. But our what is what you're saying, Tom than that. And look, if Tony Romo wins that game in Green Bay, obviously that affects his legacy in whole different way. But is the point here that losing that game, the what the specific way, the Cowboys loss was actually in, in some way, a very beneficial? Thing for his resume. I mean these that your point. Yeah, it was because it wasn't his play. It was such. It was a same, where it just was like other people him down. Right. 'cause he was. If Maria Kip that ball Cowboys just walked away with that win. No, I agree. I think that I think that there are legacy boosting losses that you can have certainly and that's definitely one of them. And I think Romo probably the clubhouse leader, you know, pun, there is a courthouse frequenter, but I mean you know, I wrote something I don't know if you saw the comments on this time over the weekend..

"The voice dot com and you can probably find him on a poster in your house somewhere, because he's that beloved Tom. I love my friends. Oh, you put me up, so much the sunshine shining and places that never shown before. Well, that's, that's the way it is. It's actually the sun is breaking through here in San Antonio. It's been raining. Sun's coming out is you and I are recording. I don't think that's a coincidence. You bring the sunlight wherever you are. Oh, getting getting sick here. So I wanted to have you on. It's what if we across our network across the nation. Lots of what if being explored with regard to different NFL teams in inex- didn't do this a lot of ways? And obviously we're gonna talk some what is with the Cowboys over blog on the boys this week. And I know you're working on something. We'll tease that at the end. But I want to have you on specifically, discuss one particular. What if and when I floated out, I said, we're gonna talk, what if you know, whatever I said, on Twitter, every every time you do that you get the well, what if Dez caught it? What if demarcated fumble? They're all to do with the game in Green Bay the divisional round twenty fourteen 'cause if the Cowboys win everybody thinks they beat the Seahawks Todd game. So on and so forth, I wanna go week before that. I wanna rewind one more week in the wildcard round in two thousand fourteen you know, it was a painful way, obviously, for the Cavs to lose to the. Packers but a slightly less painful way was the way to Detroit Lions loss, Cowboys and art of that. The big part of that was the Anthony Hitchens penalty flag that was picked up now to set the stage, everybody remembers the moment, but there was just over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, the lions if this past stands this, Brandon Pettigrew completion would have the ball at the Cowboys thirty yard line approximately at the time they had a three point lead on the Cowboys. The Cowboys did have all three timeouts. It was twenty two seventeen but I think it's fair as soon the lions at worst walking away with the field goal perhaps even punted for six and then you're down by ten you know with five ish minutes ago, that's probably not going to happen. So I'll ask you first time if that penalty flag is not picked up on Anthony Hitchens. Do the lions win that game. I think it's better than a fifty fifty shot for them because of the situation. Yeah. Puts them in really good field position..

"You kind of that mentality in the white backer, I've still be not me as a linebacker. I need to focus on everyone. I'm I'm the guy with the green dot gained everyone lined up and I need to know what the secondary guys behind me doing guys up front in the guys next to me. So just be a veteran and being linebacker. I'm out there trying to learn every position. So takes a little more stadium. But, you know, I signed up for. House. Ridley earlier today. With the emphasis there. Yeah. We, we work them mental gymnastics throughout the practice and throughout the day. And every day, we practicing something different and you just pick technique or something to get better on. And today was was a hot dropper, which is, you know, someone dropping to a blitz or to pressure side just be jovial footwork in being able to catch them to once they catch it make the tackle. So just little things like that. You like about. I like the energy. He brings every day and he never lets up he, he definitely alpha. And we need more guys like that. So he, he has a energy, and he's also a veteran he'd been he'd been leave DC. So he knows a lot of football. So it's gonna be good. And, and how not going rats. It with the difference is this unique by doing in find thing. All that, that you mean here's here's your point. Yeah. That's the think different every every, quote native is different. Some coordinator think of you keep it simple. I won't place bass, you know, get to the ball some coordinators, like the took it up on third down and I down. So he's, he's a simple guy. Everyone knows where to go and get pressures and keep it simple. So for me simple are heart. Either way, I gotta get it down and learn it. So, so either way, I'm willing to learn. So. Version. How you seemed as demands for lying. You. Yeah. Yeah. Simple is good for a lot of players good for a lot of coaches, you know. Exactly. You know who's writing who's wrong? It's no what you could do. It was like, okay, you have to get you've got to get. So it's simplified. So when we go to watch film, and we'd go get better. I don't need to coach behind me watching film. It can me. I know. Okay, I had got have they got when I play so is very simple in that way. And we can correct ourselves on the field. Correct yourself by watching someone our own. It's not it's not too complicated. So I just think that right, there will make us improve so much more. Not the defense, not have to go back and watch them as a group. You can just do it on your own your own time. And then just ask questions when you get into the next day, so that's chiefs linebacker Anthony Hitchens. And I gotta give him a ton of credit here. He was never negative about twenty eight teen in playing the three four and Bob Sutton scheme. But he was so Oltra positive about being. In the fourth three that you could really hear in his voice that there was a little bit of frustration last year, and he's grateful to now be in this for three. And I think that's a good thing. I don't think and it was a little bit obvious that he played up to his own standards last year. And you could get a little more confident in what he might be able to do in the four three from this press conference. I really liked the idea of him taking the rains. You heard someone asked you only care about your position group, and he goes, no, I'm a linebacker. I have to focus on everyone..

"He took his very quick very compact pulling guards and just overloaded those those safeties who don't who don't know how to take online because they're not supposed to take on linemen. They don't they don't have linebackers trade. I played I played football. When I was younger when line one alignment comes address linebacker. You are trained to rip and and get out of it is a quarter doesn't know how to do that a safety. Does not know how to do that. Well, these chiefs linebackers they're not safeties. Reggie is six four hundred and sixty pounds. He wants to championships at Bama, Anthony, Hitchens's six one to forty. He's he's been he's been a star linebacker for seven years dating back to his days in Iowa. So the team is just much different. And then you've got you've got KENDALL fuller at corner again. Most likely Julian Edelman fine. You've got Philip set. Chris HOGAN these guys aren't game breakers. They're not used to this field the chiefs D, And then you've got Eric berry playing Eric berry is he he's lost his speed, but he can really play in space. And so I I like I like the chiefs on that and things now defensively the patriots are outstanding. They probably have the best secondary football, Stefan Gilmore has twenty two pass breakups this year, which is by far the most in football. You've got both mccourty brothers. They actually have Devin mccourty playing safety and Jason in the other corner. And then they've got Patrick Chung. The the safety of Oregon has been there for a seems like a decade. And then and they're pretty big inside. They've got they've got this D end Trey flowers, he's he's six two to seventy but he's got thirty six arms. So he's got this. Really? He's got he's got a seven foot one seven foot one wingspan, but he's six foot two. And that's it's like Wednesday's games. He gets these anomalies, and he just any puts them into his into his system and his equation, and it and it works, but in this situation, I think teachers have too much I took the chiefs money line. I got him at one thirty five ever leave within two hours of the game tipping after the lion coming on board. And now it's like minus minus one sixty five. So I I the chiefs Mina line. I think the chiefs win this game. I do think the game probably goes under. And I have the chiefs beating the Rams in the Super Bowl. So what we had JD? Okay. Is we have patriot fans. Right. And then we have all the rest of America. Who can't stand the patriots? Right. All right, right. And there's been this talk in the past couple of weeks is this the end is the dynasty over. And yet. Nobody I'd I have I obviously as someone who listens to a lot of sports radio and watches a lot of ESPN, and and and sports related television. I found it very hard to find anybody on the national level has gone out there and set up his all over the the chiefs are going to go out there and just what the patriots. And and it's going to be time for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to thinking. About retiring? So me saying that JD is there some value for those that are going to be going to the window here Vegas to take the patriots on the money line in this matchup. Given what we know Bill Bill can do from a preparation standpoint. And given what the patriots have been able to do for years weather weather, whether there's value or not Tom Brady has has won more than any quarterback ever in the playoffs. He's obviously a top two quarterback of all time. Especially schematically is his arm a top five even a top twenty arm. No. But he's very very smart and his feet are amazing in the pocket. In a lot of people are going to be bet the patriots money because they're thinking it's Tom Brady. He's not gonna lose especially after they what they did to that. Very very good chargers team. And and and they beat them. They beat them soundly, but they beat them soundly for a reason. And I don't think the average person really understands why that is that charges team was beat up this. She was not beat up. The team has D. I didn't even mention defor. Deforest fifteen sacks and eight forced fumbles for the chiefs. I mean, he's second behind von Miller as a pass rusher in the NFL. And no one knows this people just think the chiefs have this twenty-seventh ranks defense against the rush and twenty nine against.

"I will defend him on this to his death has been tested consistently throughout this year. And he's stepped up in identified value along the interior of the offensive line. I think he's done like Damian Williams is one of his guys stepped up in a situation where they've been really tested the running back because I think he's done a lot of good things. I think the Anthony Hitchens move. Damien Williamson you sign five or six running backs. And you're telling me, you didn't really know what was going on with cream hunt. What was the deal there? If I signed five or six running backs off the street, I'm likely to hit with one of them can't he didn't. But he he only kept three I get it because he got a chance to see them. But I'm saying like your commending him for the Damien Williams Becky at seven hundred running backs and camps one who was the other one that they hadn't camp that there were three Williams. Okay. Short Kendrick, west Spencer where it was like it was an abnormal of normal amount of running backs for a training camp. And they didn't lose any money or invest. Somebody running backs on the team during training camp. But I think they did a good job of identifying guys they actually invested enough money in Daming limps to keep him around. He was going to make this football team. And he's been a solid pickup. I think he's done. Good things. It's just the big moves. The he's not special commitment with special agreement was special when you take a special player way an above average wide receiver off this offense and replace them with Kelvin Benjamin and Damian Williams. Those are nice players. I know your big Damien Williams guy at another nice date at night. But. This offense isn't invincible. This offense isn't intimidating is offense isn't unbeatable like it was before with Watkins and with on the anybody's complaining about fire Sutton, fine. Call in five seven six seven six ten. The.

"A twelve play seventy five yard Bronco. Touchdown drive. The Broncos go for two and barely fail. Anthony Hitchens with the tackle on linzie just inches shy of the end zone. And the chiefs lead thirty to twenty at fourteen fifty seven to go in the game right now. Case keenum playing like a QB that Denver brought in that they thought they brought in he's fifteen or twenty two for two hundred seventeen yards. And of course, to the keenum of the Bronx are the Viking year last year when he was twelve and three as a starter. And now the Broncos will kick a deep they will Fremont. Smith is going to let it go over his head. And the chiefs will start this drive at their own twenty five yard line. Kansas city. This will be their seventh possession of the game. The last four have been touchdowns the one prior to that was a field goal so five straight scoring possessions. But now KENDALL they need it and some time off the clock. Let's check in with Dani well-nigh, guys. Patrick mahomes. Takes the field. He now has six games with at least three passing touchdowns in nine career games. Played that is the second most such games in any players. I nine games since the nineteen seventy merger. The only player with more Warner was seven thirty to twenty chiefs. I intend chafes at their own twenty five Austin writer playing center and only a second NFL start play fake. They're going to throw a slant. It is caught by Sammy Watkins and a flag thrown. And it's going to be illegal hands to the face on the Broncos. The play will go for eleven is Watkins flirting with one hundred yard receiving day. It's an eleven yard picking pending the penalties. Right. Yup. Defense number twenty nine. The panel is the result of the play is the first hour. He's got seven receptions for ninety seven yards been targeted seven times. And again is accepted his role the roles change game to gain. It really the cool thing about this offense, and the cool thing about those players as they understand it. And most importantly, they embrace it. First and ten shapes now thrown thirty six leading thirty.

"Wide to the right side. Now he'll motion back towards the line to the right of Tom Brady and the gun on second down. Swing pass to white on the edge white at the thirty five ducks his shoulder and gets a move down to thirty and his down at the twenty nine yard line. Boy, he put Anthony Hitchens on a little bit of a spin. They're forcing Hitchens to backpedal and drop dropping yard shy of the first the whole point of starting amount wide and motioning him. Back was Hitchens went with him out wide. And then came back with them on the motion, which hold Tom Brady only needed to know James white with man to man on Anthony Hitchens, get him the football. Make them miss third down at a yard at the twenty nine backs in the eye Sony. Michelle to carry bounces to the outside. He's got a first down to the twenty five. Oh, one on twenty carries for the rookie Sony. Michelle good for him. He's a promising young back hasn't had to do much in the past game. Could James white is so good at that. But when you play for Bill Belichick. Everybody's gotta roll. White's role has been the pass catcher. Although he's got thirty eight yards rushing tonight to go with those twenty six receiving yards. He's in there now on second and eight at the Twenty-three Brady swing it to white on the right side line and white double at the twenty yard line berry.
