So I want to ask you, you know, we've been receiving a lot of emails over the last over the weekend about this deal that was negotiated and the deal that was struck, I believe it's a good deal. I believe that our friends that were the holdouts, they pushed it to the limit, and then they realized that the moderates were getting ready to strike back and they still might strike back on the rules vote. Congresswoman tell us about this deal and tell us about how we are on pace to have the most conservative Congress of our lifetime. Well, you know, I've been up front all along. I always love a good fight in our conference. And I'm never afraid of one, but I always wanted to be for the right thing. So I am thankful to my friends and colleagues because there's a few things I like in the package. But to be honest with you, they were pretty much already there before last week before people saw what happened on the House floor. But for the American people to see it happen, I think that was helpful. It brought the dialog and the conversations and the agreements that we had made weeks and months before inside our conference meetings and it brought it out for the public view. So I think that was very helpful. And I'm very glad that happened. I'm excited that we're going to have 12 separate appropriation bills. I think that's a huge win. But that was, again, that was already there before the big fight happened. Now, the only change that truly happened with them holding out after 15 rounds was the motion to vacate, went from 5 members down to one member, but today we have Anthony Gonzalez from Texas saying that is a no go for him in the rules package. And that has him currently against the rules package tonight.

We don't realize how great some of those guys were, but I could see what you're saying. I could go with that. Yeah, but I love that we don't forget those who played before because there is the recency bias. People don't remember Johnny Unitas and what he meant to that position. to inflation My constituents have been complaining about it for over a year Two concerns One inflation is particularly hard on low and middle income Americans in particular those with fixed incomes We all know that It's been brutal for them Two and I think this is the new risk Risk accumulates over time the longer rates are at zero As anyone who invests money and discounts cash flows at a zero interest rate can justify virtually any investment As we've seen that in various asset bubbles have built up over time So now I think the risk shifts now I believe the risk is that we have led inflation around too hot for too long and we're in need of a more sudden course correction which you suggested yesterday That being the case what are you most concerned with when considering the ramifications of the taper on the market and the economy at large What pockets of risk are you looking at as the taper beans Let me just say I think that the taper need not be a disruptive event in markets I don't expect that it will be It hasn't been so far We've telegraphed it I mean I think if you look at the state of the economy look at where we are Look at the most recent run of data You can see that the highly accommodative policy that we have even after the tapir is done there's really it's really appropriate that we taper And as I mentioned yesterday I agree with you It's appropriately that we consider at the next meeting tapering faster so that so that it wraps up a few months earlier I agree I guess I would encourage you and my concern again as we've seen asset bubbles accumulate over the course of the pandemic investors have done incredibly well I think we should be tapering I agree with van in a lot of ways on the monetary front But I suspect that there's risk building up and I just want to make sure that it's on the fed's radar I want to shift to the minute and 26 seconds to see if we get this out So in recent months Americans have unfortunately seen He is the first of the ten republicans who voted for impeachment to retire. So let's talk about his experience in particular and then the broader dynamics of the party so first off. Why is gonzales retiring. Would it have been impossible for him to win in a republican primary. Why not make his case and see if voters within the party are willing to accept it. You think that there is a chance. Gonzalves could've won renomination but at the same time he had a challenging race ahead of for one thing. His congressional district was probably going to change a fair bit. Ohio is losing a district. And since i don't think it's also exactly one over a lot of republicans with his impeachment. Vote it's possible that he might have born the brunt in the redraw we don't really know what the district you're gonna look like yet but nonetheless he he couldn't count his district not being substantially changed. He also had in. Mac miller a significant opponent in that miller was a former trump aide had been endorsed by trump was fundraising a fair amount of money to take on dollars so there are some clear electoral pressures on gonzalez and it also sounds like from interview that there were a lot of not electoral but life pressures getting threats yet security with them all the time. He was worried about his family. And given the state of the republican party and support for trump and anger toward republicans who are rhinos. republicans in name only according to critics of them. It's i guess not a shock that someone would want to necessarily go through that. And i think it's particularly telling coming from a guy who just turned thirty seven years old and is only the second term in the house and probably one time would have been seen as a rising star in the party but now is exiting stage right instead. Yeah i mean. Jeffrey has a piece on this coming out later this week. But you know. I think it's really telling not just gonzales within the nine other house. Republicans that voted for impeachment after the january six attack at the capitol is kind of this larger question it poses for the future of the gop. What will it mean for these ten republicans who voted against trump essentially for their electoral future. If they either retire or not reelected one point. We've got to stand up and say elections, elections for real things, and we count the votes and then and then we respect them. Win or lose. So I do think a savvy trump response here, you know, could lead him to an energized base and and it continued prominence for the next few years, But I don't think that's Really? That's the top priority of the Democrats who voted to impeach and, of course, the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach You know they're not worried about that. I think you know he's looking at the big picture that there's going to be a split that there's gonna be a moment where You know, Trump is not going to be able to hold the party and that the people who got on the front side of this they're gonna be advantage. It's almost the more valuable move on his his part because Nobody else is going along with him within the state so he could you know he could take that, you know, have kind of his personal mantle. And I think the one really interesting thing about the 10 who voted for impeachment is they don't actually have very much in common. You know, they're spread out all across the country. Some of them are in really, really strong Republican district. Some of them are in really, really, you know, dicey. Could go either way district. You know, I think they what they have in common is, you know they think you know that they had to condemn. You know the mob action and Trump's role in it. Let's dive right into this because just a few days after the Capitol riots, the country's top military leaders took something that we haven't seen before, at least in our lifetime, and they took the step to call out last week's riots. They did. This is very, you know, it's like I said, it's on president and I feel that we use that word. Although I know yeah, but it doesn't mean it's not right. That is the right word to use. This was signed by all eight members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Um, it condemns the storming of the U. S. Capitol, they said they called it a direct assault on the Congress, the Capitol building and the Constitution. Um, it was noteworthy because the joint chiefs are generally you know, they're very a political. This is not something they get involved in which you know any kind of, you know anything that could even look like politics. That's that's something they generally stay away from. It also included a reminder to the service members that President elect Joe Biden will be their next commander in chief and warns them don't participate in anything to impede his inauguration. Of course, this is after news has surfaced that several military veterans were at the Capitol seizure. Um you know one of their attorneys, five people dead. One of those was a Capitol police officer. And he had previously served in the Air National Guard Tom DJ Powers from Fox News with us this morning, and he was ready of 16 W TV. Antonio I'm glad you brought that up because I've read different articles and I actually have friends. Who served in the military and very much deeply believe in some of these conspiracy, some really, really dark. So now is the investigation continues to unfold about the riots. Is this something that pushed our military leaders to feel like we have to send this letter out to these two are members. It looks like it looks like it did. I mean, there's been a least two veterans that have been arrested, you know, for their involvement in the capital riot. I mean, you had the Air Force veteran. Actually, Babbitt, who was Um, Trump supporter of Who was there? It was shot and killed by Capitol police there. Inside the Capitol. You've probably seen the video of the group She was with trying to break down the door and her trying to enter. Yeah, And that's when the officer fired a shot. There was also the arrest of a retired Air force reserve Lieutenant Colonel Larry Brock. Uh, brandishing zip ties during the tie handcuffs during the whole thing. There was pictures of him. There was a zip ties and he's in like the fool, you know, kind of technical best military kind of it looking outfit. Yeah, he was looking to play. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, there was another one. And maybe veterans who was the guy with the horns and the first Oh, yeah, he was arrested. Um, Is he going to wear that outfit in court? Do we know? I don't know. I mean, there was, you know, just winner so I'm not really sure. I'm sorry e point of who's gonna wear whatever these are Just two of the examples of you know the fact that there were some of these there is in the military veterans, um, involved. Yeah, they're the investigations are ongoing. Obviously in the FBI's compiling a giant amount of information on who was involved pictures. They're matching up with names and things like that. But we've also seen, you know. People from police forces on because it was a couple of minutes from Virginia, who were also making headlines for their involvement. Woman killed, 3 deputies shot outside nightclub in Houston's Midtown
"Shoot out of the Houston nightclub early Sunday morning left one woman dead and three deputies injured. The incident occurred at around 2 30 Sunday morning at set nightclub in Houston, just after closing a fight broke out in the parking lot, which three off duty deputies attempted to break up. That's when the suspect, 25 year old Joseph Anthony Gonzalez, pulled a gun and opened fire, killing a woman and wounding the three deputies. Gonzalez was later arrested after seeking treatment for a gunshot wound in the Sugar Land Hospital. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The three deputies were moonlighting in full uniform when the incident occurred. All three are expected to survive.
