"This is a guy who dug, I don't know where you were, but there were a lot of people. I remember Anthony Gargano from I didn't think he'd be the starter next year. Okay, he was awful last year. Awful. He wasn't awful. He just, he was awful in the playoffs. He was just limited. And I think there's a lot of people who think, and what they've done is Shane steichen's been smart. He's taking a bunch of notes from what Oklahoma did. You know, Oklahoma, by about mid season, his one year there, they were frustrated because at the time he wasn't going through progressions. He wasn't. He didn't, he wasn't as good in that offense as they had hoped. So they have drop backs into runs. And that's what Philadelphia does. And it's incredibly hard to defend because, you know, when you have a quarterback as a runner, obviously that means it's 11 on 11 football. But no one else really has played this way. I guess with some exceptions, you know, Baltimore, but Baltimore's offense is different, but in terms of design runs on dropbacks. And the question becomes at what point will people adjust? You know, what will people adjust to it? But you're right. I didn't think he was, I think jail hertz was good enough. Most people didn't think he was good enough. I'm not sure the eagles thought he was good enough. And he's both improved. They played a soft schedule, and they have a dominant team. So it's really hard to tell just how good he is until we get to the playoffs. Yeah, I mean, that is a factor, but it's a regular season award, and I think he's got to be in that conversation. Before he got hurt it reminds me kind of like Carson Wentz. You remember Carson Wentz was poised to win the MVP and then got hurt almost the same time frame and then Brady came in and won that MVP. When the league MP, yeah. It was almost identical. When Wentz was rolling that year that they won this wound up winning the Super Bowl. It's weird because with the exception of the Bengals thing, now they're obviously 11 and four and they're real them off. But for the most part, if you look at the standings, it's about where most people thought teams would be. There's very few surprises there. If you really stop and think about it, the Broncos, the Broncos are the loan kind of surprise. But if you had started the year, a lot of people had the Broncos going to the Super Bowl. Star quarterback at water stir and you go into the Super Bowl.

"So I'm going to disagree with you in terms of how they've beaten bad teams? Yes, but they've beaten good teams too. That's why they're that's why they're still in competition. I think he's obviously in the conversation, but I really like what Joe burrow has done and their climb out of the hole that they were in. And remember, he started with the injury, right? What did he have on appendix removed? In training camp, they got off to a bad start. He threw some pics and I turnovers in the first part of the season. It's been impressive. And Jalen hurts, when you add the rushing touchdowns with the passing and just what he was able to do. This is a guy who dug, I don't know where you were, but there were a lot of people. I remember we had Anthony Gargano from I didn't think he'd be the starter next year. Okay, he was awful last year. Awful. He wasn't awful. He just, he was awful in the playoffs. He was just limited. He's in philadelphia's on the movie set. Adam sandler has a new movie. It's a basketball movie. Plays a scout for the philadelphia. Seventy sixers and he's looking for this star in europe and he's kind of trying to salvage his career and already shot my scene with santer. That was a couple of weeks ago. Yeah mclovin bali mclovin playing like the the white power forward for the opposing team. What does he. what's his role. No he's a reporter hoarder. Yeah and both are stretch but Mclovin joins us now. all right. what role do you play a re. A beat reporter while actually. I'm not totally sure. I'm either a print reporter or an on camera. Reporter is it's a bit of a gaggle reporter gaggle how many reporters are in the scene with you Multiple just had multiple. Have you have you met with the director of you. Met with sandler. I've met with anybody. I'm second my hotel room. I asked if i could show up on sad at seven. Am because i wanted to knock it out and a keep pushing it back a little bit. Yeah i'm in. My hotel doesn't work that way. all right. do you want to rehearse your line. Yes now i have to change the line. So i don't give away any plot there. No no no no. There's no plot to give away. It's not this one. This is like no no no all right so i changed the line a little. Okay i am going to honor paul crew from the longest yard which also starred you. The line is coach crew. How do you feel about getting into the championship. Okay so i'm going to be a reporter. Okay so i'm coach. Crew your coach. Okay coach crew. How do you feel about getting into the championship. Let me do it again coach crew. How do you feel about getting into the championship. Todd what do you think it sounds a little like. He's reading a cue card. Okay seton okay. Yeah it does a more times loosened up a little bit and just like you know. Go back to your throwback days andrew being a pool reporter in the locker room and you gotta get a question in okay. But i think it's gonna get worse. Not get better because he's going to go to the set and now you have sandler they're a bunch of reporters. It's a big deal. The cameras rolling. And you're going to tighten up a little bit. How do i loosen up. You can't hear each word you say because you don't speak that way. Just do it in a way that you would normally speak. We say coach crew. How do you feel about getting in the championship. Not coach crew. How do you feel about getting in the championship. It's almost like you're enunciating. Every word thing about every word yeah. Yeah here's the one of the problems. You're really good. And i'm not so that's going to be a little bit of a. They have expectation. I watched you film your lines the other day and i was like oh my god danza natural at this me not so much and back when i did have to be a pool reporter. I was terrible. I could barely get the words show nervous like i had to interview pat. Riley wants and no air got through so intimidated. I have a gift for the director. Who's affiliate okay. I'll show and tell with mclovin. This is on camera. This is a ball that got in nineteen eighty four at a seventy sixers fan event and is signed by the entire eighty four seventy sixers including dr j. Julius erving wow wait. Why are you giving this up. Well i don't know if i'm gonna give it up but i'm going to show up on set and show sandman and the director to sort of ingratiate myself. You know like all. I'm like i'm part of the spirit of it. Because there's a lot of seventy sixers movie it's like kind of a seventy sixers move. Who is is anybody else. in your seen. Other than sandler bunch of reporters. The player juancho hernan gomez and the scene and another reporter filled up reporting anthony. Gargano okay how longtime reporter and that's about it there is no you know in the in the movie. There's all sorts of nba all stars at all psyched all them and they're not going to be on so no no no and lebron's company is involved with sandler reno's moving. Yeah i mean. I expected to meet lebron. That's not happening now not In fact i don't even know if salmon's gonna show up. He might just sort of have a body double for my scene. Because i don't really talk to him so Yeah i actually the less famous people the better because as you noted i am really nervous. Yes dan any chance Mclovin would be better. He got some props. Maybe like a hand record or a notepad and pen and or maybe took his glasses off so he wasn't so mcq love and he was a new character I do have an old tape recorder. That i don't have any batteries in and reporters notebook. I i actually prepared all that. I went to a went to the drugstore just last night. So i do have propsed but i don't know what they're going to do you get to set and everything changes right. Yeah and i wouldn't be adverse to requesting a mustache because zindler was always putting a mustache on me because he thought it was funny. But you might do that. Then then you may get into a character as opposed to thinking that you're andrew mclovin pearl off junior the third but i did. I had a mustache when we shot. What i was boom operator. I don't wanna be typecast as the mustache guy. Give well when we were in the prison. No but actually what. The what i had that was. Todd was so bad that it helped everyone all the other day. And that's good so i need a todd because now i'm taught well good luck. We're all counting on you. We hope you do well. But i just wanna make sure you. Don't listen to every word you say because when we were filming something and i said mick lutts saying just walk. You couldn't walk because you were thinking about walking on camera. let me try one more okay. All right coach grew. How do you feel about getting into the champion. No no no no. No no no coach crew. How do you feel about getting into the championship. It's a little better coach grew. How do you feel about getting into the championship How.

"Coming back with a guilty verdict as a right now. Yeah they are. You know there's one juror that's still on the fence it off. Yeah it it does feel like a clean sweep of no. i mean. they've done some some good things but you do look at it and go all right. Well the marquel foltz decision. That wasn't the greatest one in the world and and this felt like really missed opportunity with all the injuries that were happening. Like you looked around and you said and we made the point. Last week i mean it would not surprise you. Even when they were down three to that we could be talking about the nba champion. Like that was a real conversation and to see that they missed this opportunity with the injuries to brooklyn with milwaukee clearly. A flawed team with the lakers out the injury to quiet leonard. The chris paul not being one hundred percent and now he's got the covert stuff that's going on. This just felt like as good of an opportunity as they were going to have with this quote unquote process group. And unfortunately they couldn't get it done. They couldn't get it done at home yet. And we're gonna talk next about more walkie over brooklyn but you could make the case and i would make the case. Actually that in hindsight if we were looking back at the start of the playoffs today not knowing that if they were going to be replayed they every we actually learn what we learned and then we went back in time and play them again. Meaning the outcomes wouldn't be the same but the truth that we have learned in that version of the outcomes upto now with meaningful like how good simmons play meant something. How good you know. So and so play. But the injuries wouldn't necessarily be the same. I would bet more money on brooklyn now brooklyn starting the playoffs. If you played at ten thousand times like assimilation brooklyn wins. The title more often from what i've seen so far then i would have thought they would've won back when i liked him. Starting the playoffs. I mean i like brooklyn the best entering the playoffs. And i think in hindsight i feel more strongly brooklyn was the better team. It took not only hard. However you want to describe the injury situation against milwaukee you could make the case that not only did they have all three of them. How the at any point really. But they didn't have two of them. How the for hardly any parts of the The games they still were two inches away. Yes sir in in a weird way team that's out has been the most impressive team which shows you how it's an inch here and there and we just don't know who's gonna win and philly could have wanted we in that simulation going back if we did it ten thousand times which you can't do in life but computers tried to do it in their simulations is really could've would've won this things. Certainly some percentage of the time far more than one percent of the time even with simmons playing like years. And then what would you have thought. Well i'll tell you this if it would've happened. It wouldn't allow me to say this dog river stat. Okay check this out. Just listen to this. It's almost unbelievable. So if you go back to two thousand five and you say i how many game seven have there been. So there's now been sixty game salmon's okay since two thousand and five in the nba. Any round of the playoffs in you say. How's the home teams. Do cause home game seven. You hear that historically that's what you want that's what you play. The season for the home court only really matters in the seventh game. Because if you think about it if it goes six you've had three and three so literally that extra home game matters if you play the savon so in those games how many home teams got got beat badly. There's been four home teams that were beat by more than ten points so sixty of them played game seven four times team lost by more than ten points. These are the situations the two thousand and five. Boston sowed dukes. Lost by twenty seven versus indiana. The two thousand nine boston team. This is the second worst lost by nineteen at home versus orlando two thousand. Nineteen clippers lost by fifteen vs denver and finally of the worst losses. The two thousand sixteen clippers lost by thirteen versus utah. So let's see here. I did all right on the sat. Let's see if i see a pattern. Two thousand five boston who coached. I dot two thousand nine boston so five dock. Two thousand nineteen clippers. Dock was gone now. He was their dog and the two thousand sixteen clippers. Los right thirteen. Utah dot the four worst losses for a home team and game seven in the nba. Since two thousand and five. All were coached. The losing team by doc rivers. Jonas is that even believable. It's there's a common theme there. It doesn't i don't want to say the philly we're on in philly that hey this wasn't even a bad one but imagine that this was his best game. Seven home was we were talking to. Anthony gargano a fox sports radio host and he's been doing phillies sports radio for years and years and he made the point that you know what other coach in a game. Seven is playing ten guys. Usually you shrink shrink your lineup. Because you want your best possible players in there which is why you saw durant as tired as he was in in game seven and those milwaukee bucks players as tired as they were and yet it's doc rivers and he's he's got a full-blown rotation like he would have during a normal regular season game and then to see what has happened with thai lue being able to get the clippers over the hump by making adjustments in game. It just as much as doc. And maybe throw ben simmons under the bus. I mean there's a lot of people. Give dr side today. And the irony to the clippers in lieu was. He did play a ton of players and he did so again on the game one against phoenix and it was a brilliant move. I think because what it did in the pri- round against utah was it allowed him to try enough combinations to arrive at one that even without quiet they were able to go small and be utah in a way that expose go bears limitations even as defensive player of the year when they had five shooters on the floor so the only way he got to. That lineup was to his experiment experimenting. That seems to be like well. Docs right then expect. But the theory is as the series progresses. You're supposed to figure out and again. I doc forgotten more basketball than i know but somehow someway all that basketball is leading him to be very different in some ways. Like you said than conventional coaches and the results haven't been strong but here's the last question to me today on the process. Which is this all these questions about. The process itself about philadelphia seventy sixers future last year. Let's say twelve months ago and again it wasn't exactly twelve months ago because of the pandemic and was pushed late but six months ago. We're very open questions i. It wasn't like yeah. We want enough if we lose for a few years. It's no big deal. The pressure was on when they made the following decision. So we need a new coach. Who should we get and they you know. Let's be candid. The sixers opening was one of the ba- i don't think they would have been too many coaches of and needed..

"He was going to be a centerpiece of a deal potentially with harden before the brooklyn trade you know houston of brooklyn and now they're saying well could he maybe c. j. mccollum. And maybe you know these other people in the the basic assumption. Is that. That ben simmons with a max contract is still an asset that the because if you think about it in the nba. It's like it's not when they talk about this rank the players it's all relative to their contract. There might be a guy. That's a reasonable for million a year. That is super super coveted because at four million a year. That guy is really good. Though that same contract as a thirty four million dollar max level kind of deal in that range might have a negative value. Might have to be you have to include the number one pick with cam by they had to include some assets to get rid of the contract. But does it surprise you. The ben simmons right now is still considered even at a max deal to be a positive asset is worth more. He's worth more in a given year than the max. I don't know how this postseason help to their their flex their ability to get a ton for ben simmons. I mean if you really had questions about. Ben simmons and look charles. Barkley made the point. The concerns have been out there for years now. This isn't just that it was this postseason he dealt with this concern about his inability to shoot and his inability to be effective on offense. Have been out there for years. If that's the case. I mean you should have done this deal. Before this postseason he shouldn't have been on the roster but it feels like maybe they waited a little bit too long and his flaws got exposed on the biggest stage of his career with no lebron and none of these other powerhouse teams to be able to take the you know some of the attention away in cover up. He was on the biggest stage in standalone games. And all his flaws ron center stage. I don't know how that helps you in trying to get facilitator trade and get the most for your value. Yeah and and the given is it. Doesn't it strikes me that that that that that the barclay take is. It's it seems to be more than that. Which is a year ago and maybe some people were even more skeptical than what i'm gonna say but a year ago it was like could a guy that is a really defender on the wing one of the best defenders and this year. You know simmons achieve that also Could he be a number two on a championship team when he can't really initiate his own shot in the playoffs super. Wow at you don't want he's not going to be running. The offense threw him initiating if embiid on the bench. Let's say that seemed to be the question. Now the question is. Can ben simmons literally score that they the fact that it was very stats on this one. I tweeted out was in the fourth quarter of the last four games so effectively a full game basketball but it would be the fourth quarter in the last four games. Four quarters and total. Ben simmons field goal attempts were zero so he played an entire game doing crunch time in theory. Four fourth quarters and he didn't literally didn't try a shot and avidan of that was the seemingly donkey had any any makes a complicate pat. They to me to not be fill up the stat sheet score is very different than why why won't is dunk the basketball layton again. Yeah it's one thing to your point. If if he looks at it and goes. I wanna be a pass first guy i get all that but at a certain point that can be a detriment and it's a detriment when you right there at the basket with an opportunity to have to get a dunk and instead you give the ball up. And you've got people inside the arena looking around gone seriously like that was really the microcosm of his series. It just seemed like as the pressure kept mounting. He wanted no part of it. There was the same conversation we're having about yoenis to where the game they lost at brooklyn where they turn the ball over. One of the thoughts was was fumbling the ball because he didn't want to get fouled and have to go to the foul line like so he was. He was nervous about that moment. Simmons seemed like his was much worse than honest because he didn't want the basketball at all like he had no interest in scoring and it was almost to the detriment of his team. And i think his coach. I think his probably his teammates there. They were looking at him a little bit differently. Especially after game seven in especially after that dunk moment will yeah to the point of i mean if you look at the two most important sixers right now. And let's put doc rivers at the top of that list within bead and doc rivers. You know he was asked. Can simmons be a point guard on a title team in his quote was. I don't know the answer to that question right now to me. That's a fair answer but boy. Oh boy that is harsh answer To not even with lip service. Be backing up simmons and then you look at embiid made the rounds also when he says. I thought the turning point was when we. I don't know how to say when we had an open shot and we made just one free throw. Which was the exact dunking. Play that we're talking about. And i don't know from beads. Been quietly sticking the knife in simmons. Wherever you had a chance over these years you know you hear about the clogging the middle. You don't know what he's thinking. But i never saw out if i didn't see the game if i didn't see the result and i only saw that quote and i knew it was clearly about simmons. That's how i knew that hearing it. I would think what the heck happened in this game right. I mean in a way if you were asleep a week ago when the you know the sixers rob to to wine and they had the long weekend in atlanta before that monday game i would think what could happen in the next eight days or so. That would be like a movie version of quite they about simmons and the troubles just being like man. This is like the movie went south. It was as bad as it could get. I'm not sure you could have dreamt this up. As bad as it's been the last seven or eight days for simmons and let me just ask you could. What could you imagine if i would have told you that. This level was going to happen of trouble for his underperformance. He he's not going to shoot. Oh in the next four games. He's not going to shoot one shot in the fourth quarter one field goal. He's going to give up a dunk. Like if i would rattle this stuff off. It's almost unbelievable. Yeah this is as bad as it could possibly be an especially if you're a sixers fan to get your hopes up to see how they performed in game six on the road and then think it okay. Well we're going back home we've got seemingly the advantages at home and And you know. Hopefully we can survive and advance. And then you deal with whoever you get out of the brooklyn milwaukee series to come up this short and it just felt like and we. We talked about this like it felt like late in games. Atlanta had nothing but confidence and philly was really struggling. Like i don't know if it was a confidence thing or fatigue thing but you could just tell that when games were close late atlanta had the ability to go. Take that game away and philadelphia. Is dr joy here. There is no denying the healing powers of music. It comes as no surprise to me that during the pandemic so many of us found solace and things like the versus battles are listening to dj denies. Here's a snippet of my conversation with registered dance and movement therapists jennifer sterling talking about this significance of music in healing culturally. Music is incredibly significant. And there's a a different kind of connection that we make when it comes to music because we can co regulate with the sound and with the voice and so even though we're in a virtual space and were not necessarily connected to each other in community. Were all connected to this. One thing the sound. This voice is tj and our nervous systems can tap into that and that can feel really supportive community and not for more gyms like this be sure to catch the rest of the conversation by downloading the black music month episode of the therapy for black girls. So if you go back to two thousand five and you say i how many game seven have there been. So there's now been sixty game salmon's okay since two thousand five in the nba any round of the playoffs in you say. How's the home teams. Do because home game seven. You hear that historically that's what you want that's would you play the season for the home. Court only really matters in the seventh game. Because if you think about it if it goes six you've had three and three so literally that extra home game matters if you play the seven so in those games how many home teams got be and got beat badly. There's been four home teams that were beat by more than ten points to sixty of them played game seven four times. The home team lost by more than ten points. These are the situations. The two thousand five boston celtics lost by twenty seven versus indiana. The two thousand nine boston team. This is the second worst lost by nineteen at home versus orlando two thousand. Nineteen clippers lost by fifteen vs denver and finally of the worst losses. The two thousand sixteen clippers lost by thirteen versus utah. Let's see here. i did all right on the sat. Let's see if i see a pattern. Two thousand and five boston who coached. I dot two thousand nine boston. So five dock. Two dozen nineteen clippers. Dock was gone. No no he was there. And the two thousand sixteen clippers los right thirteen utah dot the four worst losses for a home team and game seven in the nba. Since two thousand five. All were coached. The losing team by doc rivers. Jonas is that even believable. It's yeah there. There's a common theme there. It doesn't i don't want to say philly. We're on in philly that hey this wasn't even a bad one but imagine that this was his best game seven home loss. We were talking to Anthony gargano fox sports radio host and he's been doing phillies sports radio for years and years and he made the point that you know what other coach in a game. Seven is playing ten guys. Usually you shrink shrink your lineup. Because you want your best possible players in there which is why you saw durant as tired as he was in game seven and those milwaukee bucks players as tired as they were and yet it's doc rivers and he's he's got a full-blown rotation like he would have during a normal regular season game and then to see what has happened with thai lou. Being able to get the clippers over the hump by making adjustments in game. It just as much as doc. And maybe throw ben simmons under the bus. I mean there's a lot of people given i today. The irony to the clippers and lou was. He did play a ton of players and he did so again on the game against phoenix and it was a brilliant move. I think because what it did in the pri- round against utah was it allowed him to try enough combinations to arrive at one that even without quiet they were able to go small and be utah in a way that expose go bears limitations even defensive player of the year when they had five shooters on the floor so the only way he got to that lineup was to his experiment experimenting. That seems to be like well. Docs right then expect. The theory is as the series progresses. You're supposed to figure out. And again. I doc has forgotten more basketball than i know but somehow someway all that basketball is leading him to be very different in some ways. "I can't kill you to rest until you play him again. Your boys kill you again or you say you know what i'm gonna keep coming. I'm gonna keep coming on. Keep coming. I don't know if honest ever grew up in that type of environment where he was forced to hell louisiana the nba long enough to have been in that environment. I'm not making excuses. I'm just trying to find a reason. I never. I've never known a hooper. Say why would you ask me that. No but he never known who asked. Do you know what i'm asking you. In j i was already picked before a wind up at the gm. They had already waiting for me to get there. I just want you. He's nick sabin. He already has his team set up on the basketball court. Never lost now mess with you. But here's how so he never lost. So here's here's how that's the question. I go in terms of football right and see if i could turn it. Tore it football. in comparison. Yawn is being a european player in his style of play in europe in how the grind is different on car. Court here in football guys at a really good football into some stuff Stuff talking like that like some stuff in life. that's why they so it in hard in then guys that have the grow up a certain way. The mommy daddy. Both got good jobs doesn't mean they're not gonna be good successful they just it's different. They not that he doesn't bother him because they go into an air conditioned space when they home opposed to kids that grow up with some stuff they windows are open when they go home trying to get a breeze in there so then mentalities or different in football is that makes us to it being difficult you to being gone through some difficult times. I mean oh. My god. I i hear the story of him at brothers not him growing it a tough family environment. I'm just talking about from a mentality on the field in on the court. Here's a mentality is a story that i'll share. This is from two thousand five right before. I think it was new year's the knicks and the nets. We're going to play each other. This is jason kidd now. Jason kidd was was the best best pointing our league at the time with the nets and stuff. Marbury did a interview where he said. I believe on the best point guard in the leak and he was a visceral for eviscerated as it. How could you say that so arrogant. You're playing and jason kidd and jason kidd just absolutely destroys the knicks in this game and so marbury like had to take all this criticism for saying it and then getting blown out the next day and his point was if i don't think that yeah i can't walk on the court and play a guy like jason kidd. I have to tell myself that. When i heard him explain that it changed my mentality of what he said. Now it's like oh that makes a lot of sense you've gotta talk yourself into it. I'm to say he's the best player in the world. Well tonight you say you're gonna best player in the world and you can start consciously planning a seed already in your mind about. He's the best player in the world. That's what you're doing so you walk on. Of course he's the best way in the world. He's the best in the world. How does that give you a fighting chance so every time you see them. Highlights the whole house you watch. Espn you already defeated. Is that what it is. You already scared to do anything we katie. You're not supposed to do that though. Man talk about your opponent being but yeah you could say he's. He's a very talented player. It's hard due to stop. We got a plan a certain way. But i'm never go till you that. I'm playing against jerry rice. He the greatest receiver of all time. No i'm not. No i'm notice insane angie rice. Is there a no today. I am like when you see you want honest. that's on me. Oh yeah well look. It's said if he said tonight's on me and it he has said it like that looking. Everybody would have known on alert. Like oh watch out for game six now again. Actions speak louder than words. So we'll find out certainly tonight. Keyshawn jay wills zubin presented by progressive insurance august. Join us on the goodyear hotline. Speaking of mentality. Right you'd think at this point is it in the head of the philadelphia. Seventy sixers about beating the hawks when you have big leads can't close the deal consecutive games and now a series. It should be over there facing elimination in that series of they go now back to atlanta to talk about this. We go to philadelphia. Anthony gargano on ninety seven five. The fanatic in philly joins us right now in the goodyear hotline anthony. Good morning i mean it is the big concern the inability to close the. They're building these big leads. They can't close the deal. Is that coaching or is that a player issue. I think it's both i will tell you. The paul over the city is i've only experienced this one other time. In fact the two worst losses in the history of the city happens last night and In two thousand and three when key and the bucket nears ended the vet and beat the eagles. And that's the kind of devastation that has left this morning. Cloudy will get you everywhere. I'm not sorry. Y'all boost santa claus so who gives a damn right just speaking truth man anthony. You save pretty bad. That how bad it in i was gonna say i don't feel the anthony. I don't know if i feel. I feel you seem like you're very poised right now. I thought it would be a little bit more hurtful with the way they twenty six. It's a gut punch. It's horrible i. it'd be real. I i try not to cry on on national. Tv and radio. I'm just trying not to cry. It's awful it's horrible feeling and the problem was a everybody was out of shape after they blew the lead in game five right and gained four where they should have been up three one so now you have last night and everybody expected them to come out and play the way they did and indeed to dominate in the whole thing and it played out that way except two guys score field goals in the second half. I mean it's unbelievable ben. Ben has been the bane of existence for not shooting the basketball this whole run this whole his whole career here and now it's just worse. Right device hires max player. And you give you that kind of effort. You bought the small to play the donkey. Miss the bunny missed a game four and then last night shape thing people are freaking out. What what are the philadelphia. Fateful saying about. Ben simmons play in the fourth quarter. Hackers simmons what screaming. Take him out right like it's painful. Here's the thing. Nobody can wrap their arms around the fact that this won't show shots we ask your bigger sits eleven suite at people comprehend and by the way you watch you shoot. Free throw shot. He's gonna go case you on the ball. I mean it's a boggling guys like you kick humphry. That's the most frustrating thing about it. You can't comprehend this doc rivers. Who's leaving the benches and losing momentum to gaze while we did the same thing. He's talked to wonder well. Is that what happened with the clippers. Is that why. God blessed win. Three one elite. It is in fact. Five of the last eight blown leads biggest blown leads doc. Rivers has been the head coach. And so maybe it's just me and key and i kinda got into a little bit yesterday but like after game four and i know that joel embiid was zero twelve from the field and second-half when i saw joel embiid postgame presser and he was joking around. I is it just me or do i feel like because i'm a fan of joel embiid. I just wanted to see him damping seriously. It's want to see him be serious is smears. Billy fans ville..

I mean like i mike schmidt i mean this guy every day is ben radio man every day calling every day and you know they can't understand how why he doesn't shoot right like he had fifteen fifteen six points and they crush them. I'm fifty by the way he's like reverse island but you put them on all right or right. We don't look at that piece of it but we don't look at him playing a week defense. We just see him. Watling took six shots seven shots but when this team think about how his team is built spaces right you got carrying green three point shooters you've got room for tobias operate and everything around and be wall. Look at ben he can get to the rent every time right. He's at your riddick past. Who give you any shooter. Wants to play with the kid because he's going to get the ball in the right spot stand. Angeline be but let's start with. Embiid is there of concern. Anthony like he has injury problems. You know it. All and i know he's he. He played he didn't play enough. Games would have been the mvp this year. We're always always needs to be right right. You know on the horizon is him. Potentially getting hurt. How much of the talk is that in philly about. Kenya count on mb because of his health. Well it definitely is white knuckle routing and watching when you when you watch joe. I think he's got a falling problem more than an injury problem because like he's such a unicorn and you know at that size at that weight the stuff that he does like sure that on like like a world a seven foot. Two guys should be doing that right. He sure sometimes he forgets seven two and he's not six five and he's another foot and a half a leg right time right. He's a little awkward was falling here. He's fine. I hear he. He is camp is a little over protective for obvious reasons. And i should be good the guy no they listen to dow all and they're going to reevaluate them. But i heard. I heard he's fine. Okay yeah i mean listen. Everything's tied to him without joe. Don't win without indeed. Forget about every joke. You know absolute apps. No okay. that's good news. Then if you hear the he's good yeah because without him. Yeah they're going to be sunk they would have trouble with atlanta in the second round without without saying they might not beat him but they'd have trouble. So what did you make of. Doc rivers and his support for ben simmons and his comments. I see. I think doc had to do that like you gotta stay behind your main. You know i listened. Been around this thing. I trust off i you don't. He was doing first of all. You're not gonna take out bend. There's people saying they should take out taking leaving. And i love banks you but you can't take out simmons first of all think about it right. How much you lose on the defensive end how about you lose on. he's your guy who's your facilitator. So you kick him out of the game and by the way it's it's wash beat washington so that's the perfect time to leave him in there. I let him get used to it. In case it happens again. I totally agree with you. I mean simmons as we know is a tremendous player but his refusal to shoot jumpers and his struggles fowler in today's nba is an issue and dot talked about it. Like i can't remember the exact quote but it was something. Like i can't believe he's a new law mina fan wall among the fans. How big of a concern is that. Because i think it's a huge problem when all my job probably every day. It's ben simmons every day. He's the most polarizing sports figure since. Donovan mcnabb..

She wrote a letter to the federation about her situation that she did not want to speak to the media but she would after the tournament. You know she talked about the first time that she won her first championship. It was the us open when she started having her anxiety talking to the media in because of her age of being overwhelming to her. And that's why she always wears headphones. He comes out there that she's nervous and how much it detrick. Because she said on recognize when were talking to me she kinda like through. She said hey. Can i leave now in the middle of conversation auto guys never pay attention to what she's talking to the media or anything and how. She looked eversholt she when she's speaking to people. Okay okay i saying. He wrote him a letter so you think she shouldn't have to talk to the media. No no no. I'm not saying that. She said she did but she just was expressing to them that he was having struggled. She didn't say that she did not want to talk. In general she just wanted to know if she could speak after the tournament so all all the other players have to talk to the media and no. I'm not understand where you're coming from. But i guess at the time you know what i'm saying. Maybe she was having some issues. You know that you know like you wrote a letter. Says she should've went to them privately. So that we can so michelle. One of us going out from tennis. For a little bit into she can get righted or feel better glitch cheese going to do that. She said she's going to do that. But you're gonna continue playing and you because there are some athletes that might day. Kyri took a few fines by what that makes sense but she said she did not want to be stretching to the other players and she apologized taking away. She did not wanna be distraction to two other players because being her being the number two player right now in the world that would have been a big issue. Rob my point is ed. I ain't even just jobs. Do you know how many days. I didn't feel like going to school right. You didn't want to deal with it or maybe people got social anxiety wherever it is whether you wanna go to school. You don't wanna go to your job. You don't want to do this or do that. That's a part of life and again we're not making light but we all have to do. Some things are jobs that we don't like that we don't like and if it's legitimate mental health issue then we can delete can work something out but he's really talking to them. I didn't play well today. I don't have any say right then believe me. We know we've been dealing with these athletes ever. they'll come up with all sorts of excuses and legitimate. I remember talking with an athlete. When i was covering the cleveland cavaliers on the team and i said you know i'd say no yagi sick of us as we in your locker room. Every dan we do four two game after game as the same. Oh questions i up. And i was like well. We get tired of you know like we. We see y'all everyday rob you know covering baseball. The media's just standing around right trying to get blazed wanna talk right or you're really playing defense because you don't what the new york post to talk to somebody and you were there. I know when i was there. no way. no other whiners right then. Miss something and you're nobody really wants to do that. But it comes with the job and so we get tired of sometimes the players and the coaches they get tired of us but is part of the job and rob you look at all these years and athletes have done it. You face the fire. You can't just talk to the media win win. It's great when you hit a home run or you win. A grand slam doesn't work like that..

"We and we said it arrived last week. What these leagues are going to have to do. Because naomi osaka is not the first guy. Reserving has done it a few times this year. You know he stopped playing for three weeks Twice he did but the three weeks for way. He cited personal reasons. We believe that has something to do with mental issues or whatever. He didn't wanna talk to the media a few times for mental issues cam. Newton walked out. We talked about that at the super bowl in two thousand fifteen. He walked out of a press. So athletes like naomi. Osaka is not the first one. But what robin i have said. Is that if more and more athletes are going to cite mental health for why. I don't wanna do this or do that. I don't wanna practice today. I don't wanna play for the next week. I don't want talk to the media. Then you're team's need to. You really sure do it anyway to help your athletes hire an independent independent. Not a team diet so health expert right now. The team doctor not someone that's affiliated with the players or their agents or anything independent doctors to objectively first of all to help your players so maybe meet with your players that want to at least can meet with the mental health expert and coach and throughout the season to help them in that regard but beyond that that mental health expert works for each team can determine objectively whether or not someone is really suffering from a mental health issue. And i'm sorry. Rob what mario sokha tight already row already now. I don't think that qualifies as a mental health issue. Now i get. It causes you anxiety. The fanatic in Philly is joining us on the hotline. And Anthony, I could just imagine the Eagles fans are probably a little bit Thorne about what they saw. How do you guys feel about this? Now you're right. Dig out. Judge agreed. Period will be with you guys. Um, it's embarrassing. And I will tell you and I'm quoting a lot of the callers that It was embarrassing Move. It was weak. It was a bad move without Pearson decided to do Here's Here's what I think it would happen. This is what I kind of know that they went into the plan and they went. I We're gonna go with their bones, right? We're gonna went is gonna be inactive because betrayed him. We don't want to risk injury will keep out certain guys, and then it will be part of the plan was the place. I thought at some point, but they thought that they would be down big right? So it makes sense. Except when you're in the game she wants you kick off. You got to play a game. You can't lay down. You can't tank. Listen, we're the city of the tank right like asked the Sixers. The process was born in Philadelphia. Fine. Once you kick off or tip off, you can't be thrown games Man. That's when you got real issues, and that's what Peterson did. It was unthinkable. You big al. You brought it up. It worked out the five yard line and you're not going to kick the field goal. It is the guy who goes for all the time. He taunted fourth and one from midfield on their first possession. It was weak and it was shameful. Eiji, I got asked, Uh, I gotta ask you this man because Like you said. You know, Philly fans are like Bronco fans or they're passionate about their team. And you know, having a championship in the last few years, it really means a lot to this organization. Here in Denver, and I know it means a ton to you guys there in Philly. You guys cool with the Peterson right now. No. Well, first of all, I'm with you he's through. He's the most overrated coach. It'll the NFL and it's not for that Super Bowl. He would have been fired anyway. And he bailed out that you're I tell you He was lucky that they want I've been in lifelong Fuck the resident. I lived in Chicago, New York sports writer but I was born in the shadow of Veterans Stadium. So I do love that team and I've never sold Super Bowl and they wanted great. But let me tell you something. That guy is a horrible coach and bad luck. You can't think on its feet and I think he flubbed it. I think we should They want to get the sixth pick. Yeah, I'm sure that's part of the deal didn't get anybody hurt. But he can't think on his feet and that game was tied. And here's the worst thing his players having, like, figure out how to look you in the face. No. When I didn't give you a chance to win the game. I mean, that's the thing. Forget it up picks. Forget about the Giants feel about that. It's about how do I look? Jalen hurts. They say. Hey, Jalen, Uh, you know, I'm asking you to do something. When I took you out. I didn't respect you went off to let you finish the game. I mean, what's that say they figured out what that say you Well, I'll tell you this. We had a situation here in Denver just about three years ago with Gary Kubiak was a head football coach going into the last game. And Trevor Simeon was the starting quarterback for US and Gary Kubiak said he wanted to get Trevor. Hey, want to get our former first round draft pick? Um, there's some snaps at the end of the game or the game was going well, well enough where Gary Kubiak just absolutely scrapped it and said, Hey, the guy deserved to have more place because of the way that he played, and we never did get to see Paxton Lynch that year would Gary Kubiak So endeavor. I've seen it work that way. Where? Look, you just gotta go ahead and win the game. You don't get it. We had a chance to have an improved position in the NFL draft. If we would have lost that game to the Raiders, and we could have laid it down. The Broncos fought hard. They lost the game, but the effort was appreciated, right? Let me ask you this, Anthony, because when we Yes, we are seeing rapid port yesterday and his comment was and obviously look, he works for the NFL network. So he works for the Shield. And I do believe that there is a company line when you work for the league. He said. It was no different what the Philadelphia Eagles did then what the Kansas City Chiefs dead. That didn't want the Pittsburgh Steelers did. Then what? All these other teams did by sitting by sitting there, guys, but I and I totally I totally disagree with that. I disagree that. I mean, if you are a team that is still you have guys out there that are playing for For things that they may have in their contracts. I mean, we talked about a number of guys that actually hit those bonuses that they had in their contract because they had the opportunity to hit them in that last game of the season. Yeah, You're right. Uh, listen, I like rap, and they ain't just my shop. But that's a company. That's that's the company line, man. That's a huge difference. If if I'm secure as the one seed, I don't want anybody hurt, I mean, oh, that's obvious. Here. This fell shameful in All right. They bring it sudden felt. Well, maybe shut. So this sudden stinks. All right. He's got no future. He blows. Nature doesn't belong in the NFL, All right? And they realize that you're not stupid. But here's the deal. Jalen hurts might have to be your story quarterback because they've already crushed Carson Wentz. All right. This is the same guy who has made a mess off his quarterback situation. And now you've got a kid like hurts. What you want to see. We could do in the fourth quarter and became like that. And if he pulls it out, Yeah, it's just a shame that you go from 69. Yeah, this you probably won't get the player. It's like we're not gonna in this draft and you would get at night. However, does Jalen hurts? Feel that much better that what's more confident going into the offseason? I mean, that's real..
