Lightning send series back to Tampa, beat Maple Leafs 4-2
"The lightning forced a game 6 in their first round series by defeating the Maple Leafs four two. Mikey Amon and Anthony cirelli each had a goal and an assist for the bolts who were two in one in Toronto, but Owen to at home in the series. Asimov scored on a tough angle. First try to get around that D man and he's a great goalie so sometimes you gotta be a little crafty and it's just something I've worked on with healthy at some of these some of these morning skates so I figured I'd try it. Now Andre vasilevskiy stopped 28 shots. Toronto was trying to win a series for the first time since 2004. Game 6 is Saturday in Tampa. I'm Dave ferry.

Reilly scores in OT to lift Maple Leafs past Lightning, 4-3
"Morgan rielly fired home the game winner with 45 seconds left in overtime and the Toronto Maple Leafs came back to take game three over the Tampa Bay lightning four to three. It feels good, you know, just to get the win ultimately. That's truly the first thing you think about. So obviously lately over time period and it's nice to close it out. Ryan O'Reilly scored the game tying goal with a minute left in regulation and had two assists including on the game winner. Brandon Hagel Darren radish and Anthony cirelli scored for the lightning. Toronto now leads the best of 7 series two games to one. Tampa

Penguins score 6 in 2nd period, beat Lightning 7-3
"The penguin scored 6 second period goals as they roughed up Tampa 7 to three. Pittsburgh scored 5 of those goals in a four minute and 27 second stretch as teddy blueger found the net for the first time since early December. I mean, overall, I think our game's been going, you know, when playing pretty well, I've been getting chances just a matter of capitalizing and sometimes that's how it goes so you had to fight through it. And yeah, it's obviously a good feeling. The score at any time, but especially when you haven't done it in a while. 7 different players, including Sidney Crosby, and evgeny malkin scored four Pittsburgh, Anthony cirelli, Nikita kucherov, and brayden point hit the net for Tampa in the loss. Cirelli scores twice, Lightning defeat Stars 3-1
"Anthony cirelli scored twice including the tie breaking goal with 43 seconds left that's Tampa Bay lightning defeated the Dallas stars three to one. I think all 5 guys controlled the puck there for a little bit. I mean, I think killer heady back door and then he just makes them a little mover on the D around the goalie and I was lucky enough to just bang it in. Victor had been assisted on the game winner as 500th career assist and goalie Andrei vasilevskiy out duel Scott wedgewood and goal both stopping 28 shots. Brandon Hagel sealed the win with an empty netter as 22nd of the season, while Jamie benn scored the lone goal for the stars his 21st. Bob Stevens Dallas

"Of what the bruins would like to be. Good at drafting. Good at drafting. You look Braden point. Ross Colton, Anthony cirelli, Andre pilat. None of those guys are, you know, first round picks. And there's more. There's more on that roster. You can look at the third and fourth lines. You look all over the roster. And again, like vasilevsky was a first round pick, but still, I mean, you look at the roster and you go, that's a team that drafted well. Yeah, no, it's that. And even if we want to talk about Colorado, of course, you can look at the avalanche and be like, well yeah, you just got to draft a generational center and a generational defenseman. You get to go. It helps quite a bit. You want to become a car. Like, oh yeah, I could see why a lot of teams like that guy. But I think you look at, as you said, Tampa and the way they've drafted and the way that they can, again, relinquish those first round picks to put themselves over the top. I mean, how many times have we seen it, whether it's Blake Coleman, whether it's Barclay goudreau, Nick Paul, Brendan Hegel, all these guys that you can sacrifice that first run talent because you've got the scouting department in the organization in place that you can identify talent in the second, third, fourth round. Not to say that every time you're going to draft a brayden point or an akita kourov, but even you look at gallic Ross Colton who I think was a fourth round pick. That's a guy that's Vermont. Yes, that's a guy that scored. I think it was what the game winning goal, a series clinching goal, I think, against Montreal. I want to say, that was a bruins player. It was like didn't hind and people would be celebrating didn't hide in the streets. It never have to buy a drink. Over at the hop. But again, it's one of those things where they just identify talent all across the board. And when you've got a strong scouting department in an established organization, you can give up those first round picks to get you that town that puts you in a position to get you over the top over a playoff series. I mean, even look at Colorado, the fact that, you know, you look at Joe sagging what he's done there, whether it's trading for a gala devonte, who was in kind of a cap issue there with the islanders taking advantage of that..

"This other guy is still really good. So that's not Boston how they do not exactly have A handful of top prospects the Sabres could choose from No there have. They haven't had great draft lately. And you know, they've also been in it right so pretty much every year, the last three or four years, so they've traded a bunch of their first round picks of the deadline. They haven't had first round picks in some of these drafts, so you know they're covered is not overflowing. With prospects ready to contribute at the NHL level. Tanika is one of their best prospects. There's no doubt about it. He rolled back in nine, is a former first round pick a defenseman. He really hasn't panned out to this point. I don't think he's at his highest level prospect wise. Um, you know, Jack feature is, uh, is still in college, So you know he's not ready to contribute as a former first round pick. Um, you know, I don't think they have the talent in the prospects that a lot of other teams do. Their best young players are at the NHL level. I don't think there was any way whatsoever that the Bruins would trade Charlie McAvoy or David Posture neck in the Jack Eichel deal, so you know Just don't know that they comparatively speaking have the kind of assets that other teams are going to do to get the deal done. You're just one question ahead of me all the time, Joe. I'm very impressed. You're stealing my next question all time, but hey, before I get to that, um Stanek is the center. Did you say Yeah, He's the center. Um, still needs to fill out physically, not strong enough to handle the NHL level last year. I think they're hoping now he's in the you know, young 2022 range 22 years old ranch. So maybe now, next year is going to be a year He's going to start to push. Um, And that's like I think the grand design the Bruins had going into this past season was it was the last year of Cray Cheese deal. Um, you know, they would bring stead Nikko along a little bit last year. Get his feet wet. And then maybe have a year of Charlie Coyle is the number two center. You know this coming season if they weren't going to resign crazy and then bring instead, nickel to be the third line center. But he didn't really show enough that he's going to be ready this next season. Maybe he does a ton of work and gained some strength over the the summer and you know all of a sudden pops next year, but I think it kind of changed their plans a little bit. That's Tanika wasn't ready yet. They still think he's going to be A top, uh, nine center in the NHL, and I've heard comparison to scouts. I've talked to Anthony Cirelli. That's the player they mentioned. That technique is kind of like, um, so we'll see. But you know, I don't know that he's going to be a top flight number one center in the NHL either. Yeah, I was curious about. You know, maybe that that the tweener if you will not necessarily the prospects that haven't been there yet, But young guys who are either they're now maybe have had a little bit of playing time have been in the minors as well. Because the Sabres Joe, they're going to be going with a lot of you know, 21 22 23 year olds, not that iculs old, but that early twenties group is going to be their core going forward. Is there anybody Posture knocks a little bit older, but not old. But is there anybody on the Bruins in that early twenties? That maybe even has a little bit of time? And they would say, you know, that's a guy you should want to go get if your buffalo Well, yes, Jake DeBrusk would be the guy. Um, that would be the guy if they were going to trade somebody in their early twenties. These 23 now, um he has a 27 gold season on his resume at the NHL level. I think that's a guy they would definitely use as a trade ship. If if the Sabres are looking for young NHL roster players still not too expensive, uh, contract wise, he's still in the R F a Land, so he's not commanding huge money definitely had it down the year this year, but he's proven that he can score in the league of the former first round pick and the thing with him like and I view a lot of guys like this across the league. He's one of those guys in his early twenties doesn't have a family single guy. I think a lot of those guys struggled last year because of the covid restriction because they were, you know, lonely and I think mentally its control on them that they really had nothing to do because of the restrictions outside of being at the rank. They had no family to go home to them. They just We're going home to nothing when they went home at night. And they couldn't go out and do anything. So I think a lot of those guys struggled mentally and off the ice and you know, just to be in a good place every single day, and I think he's definitely one of those guys. So you kind of primed and ready for a bounce back year, and he definitely has the talent to do it. The issue with him. He can score, but he hasn't shown that he's going to be able to impact a lot of other places around the ice. Besides scoring when he doesn't score, he doesn't do a lot for you. So you know, that's kind of the the book on him right now, Joe Final thing for you, Um, when you you know Burns officers still considering themselves Cup contenders. If we go back to the old division, you've got the cup champion there. Montreal was an average hockey team, but they made a run. You've got Florida you got Toronto, though. You know they can't win in the postseason. I guess I'm getting to how desperate or how anxious would Boston What did what do you think they need to add? First and foremost And how? How Aggressive. Would they be trying to pursue a potential Eichel deal or even Sam Reinhart? Yeah, I think they need a left side defenseman. That's really their biggest need. Um, you know they didn't resign Zdeno Char and Torey Krug going into last season and they tried to go with young guys. Young kids on the left side. And it really found a really good partner. Um for Charlie McAvoy in the top pairing. They even need a top pair left side defenseman or middle pair left side defenseman, depending on where they're going to put Matt Grizzly, but I don't view him as a top pair guys, so they really need A guy that can handle 20. Plus minutes tonight, play in all situations on the left side. A guy that can bring some offense moved the park and can, you know? Play well in the D Zone block shots just, you know, be your all around really good defenseman. That's really their biggest need..

"This is the Stanley Cup final on lightning radio on the lining of a big edge in shots 11 2. There have been three power play chances in the game so far, but it remains 00 and prices look really Sharp and steady. I'm not sure that the lighting had tremendous scoring chances of their 11 shots. But price has taken care of the ones that have come his way. I agree with that, Um On the other hand, the lightning they're passing up good opportunities by trying to pass again. Very good chance right in the slot. He passes down the Yanni Gordy is at the bottom of the thief's off circle to the left of the goalie. I mean, the angle is nothing face off is still left up Place Danno and Johnson. On the drop. "Joe Micheletti, John Oliver and Emily Arena. The Canadians on their first power play of the game in a scoreless game five John Rueda offer a cross check at 7 19. Canadians have to go back into their own goal in coming over and Coleman very nearly. It's a short handed goal. He's got it again in trying to pitch Forks, backhander wide and Jeff Pizza, trying to settle things down for the 1st 20 seconds of the Montreal power play, which has been fairly ineffective in the series is equally ineffective. Canadians just one for seven on the power play, but they're making soft plays, jokes and they're getting outworked by the penalty, killing the lightning round. For sure, they thought Montreal thought that Tampa Bay was just going to clear the ice, clear the puck down the ice and the first one, Tampa Bay didn't try to make a play. And they did. The Goldman Suzuki fires it hard around and into the Tampa Bay zone. McDonough pops into the front of the net. Nobody home but Anthony Cirelli of the Lightning and he'll Isis. We've got a penalty coming up behind the plate. Is it coincidental minors? Let's listen. 81 got minor interference. 94 about two minutes embellishment, So it's an interference call on Sure knack and embellishment call on Perry. So it is coincidental Minors at 8 15 Peri Peri slammed the penalty box gate as he went into the penalty box. He didn't like it sure, not just came over and gave him a shoulder to the chest, and Perry went down. And the officials felt that he embellished to call enough to even things up Joe. To me, It's the age old conversation. We can talk about it all night long. How can it be both? It's either one or the other, but it is both because that's the call it does not affect. The manpower situation remains a five on four power play for the Canadians and Anderson offside as he tries to pull a pass from behind him back into the Tampa Bay zone. The Canadian power play still has 48 seconds left joke, but it does not look sharp. No, it hasn't. You know, this is a power play that that hasn't hasn't really looked all that sharp throughout the series. They got some young players on there. And you know, we've spoken so often about the Montreal penalty killing. Tampa Bay's is excellent as well. Now Anderson and Coleman jostle at the edge of the circle, exchanging short cross checks. The officials have to come over draw the old line in the back seat like on vacation with your brother or sister never works. No, it doesn't was going to say we'll see if it works, but Remember, the retaliation is always what Mom and dad caught. And here comes Coleman off the face off. He had a chance to come in short handed. But he's caught by Anderson is going to take a penalty that hooking call and Al Coleman saying it should be a penalty shot. He's all the way back at his own movie, but he's got a point. Did he have a breakaway and so cemetery so Tampa Bay makes makes the play. They try to clear it goes off a glove and slows down. And so Coleman is able to try to reach out and he loses control and trying to control it with his right escaped and that didn't work. So the game is being called tightly. You know, I'd go so far very safe. Would you consider that a pretty good penalty? Because if Anderson doesn't take that penalty, your point, I think Coleman, who's got great speed off to the races on a breakaway for sure. So it's four on four for the next few seconds as the lightning people fuckin and served Check trying to get it back from board had his stick lifted. It angles off the boards and back out center right shots. 10 2 in favor of Tampa Bay. Montreal Power play did not even produced a shot on goal before they took the penalty there by Anderson at 8 43. How Suzuki wiped out by Coleman Coleman's been all over the ice. Been the best player on the ice in this first period. He has points in every game in this series. And now Tampa Bay wanted one appellant. Too many men on the ice Suzuki on his way to the back. Edge. The puck just appeared in front of him went off the skate of a teammate that was going over the boards, and then he just dumped it in the rest of the way. I don't think it was too many men on the ice, and there's nothing else the officials agree with. Hedman handles it. Sentara is Tampa Bay Seconds away from going on their own power play now on their second power play of the game as the Canadian sweep it away, and Hedman has to come back and get it. That's another example. Cirelli gets it right at the blue line, carries it over the blue line, and immediately he's attacked. He loses the puck. Montreal clears it. Hedman brings it in for stand post wires it around and Cirelli battling with Byron to try to keep it alive. Future. AW, made a little pump pass into that bump position in the middle. Got it right back from point now has it right circuit out high. Hedman capitalists takes a wrist shot doubled up by Carey price Now that time Tampa Bay was able to get set up and when you draw has it that's when he becomes so dangerous. So he's on the right side, and he's looking for either a plate of the middle of play down on the side of the net. But this time you got it to Hedman on the left point, have been walked in and initially decided to take the shot because Cirelli was directly in front of Carey Price. But Cirelli took a step to the side price was able to see the shot. Make a safe rally wins the ensuing faceoff to the right of price stuck on the end boards. Evans didn't get it out shot passed by him. And the boy was looking for future off the right post, and he didn't connect hustling the other way. Evans trying to split the defense shorthanded, and he's written off the puck in the left corner. Now by Hedman dying Seconds of the power play, 10 ticks remaining. The man advantage point across the line. Trump Sutra back to feature off his pass deflected towards the Net, capped away by Carey Price and collected by the Canadians to know clears the zone. That'll do it. Out of the box. Anderson and the Canadians full strength, so Tampa Bay over two on the power play, and they turn it over at Senate. Here's Suzuki on his own into the Tampa Bay Zone strips to the left corner wanted the centers of the far post. But that came gored to intercept that. It stood out by the lightning. This go all the way back in the Montreal ice. First man on Heathrow rolls it slowly to the side of the Net, and Carey Price scoops it up. He'll hang on just under nine minutes to go. In Game five first period in Tampa, no score between the Lightning and Canadians in conjunction with NBC Sports, You're listening to the Stanley Cup.

"That Celeski give Perry All right. The Lightning win the D Zone faceoff. Gord, one at Coleman clears important final four minutes in the first year. The Canadians have had very little going in the first, but now they got the spark from the goal at center ice Atari like and dumps it in the lost it by the just knocked it away from Evans. It looked like he was gonna have an open net. Just said always good row, right When Eric turn AC Sirnak rips it in. I stopped by the march on it to Romanov in the near corner of middle. Jake Evans. Amazing what confidence does for you. Here's Evans busting into the lightning zone, Left circle, centering feed in on Vasilevskiy knocks it away and plot grabs. Lot bounces for Brandon Point Point to center ice backhands it in Canadians look like a different team since the goal. Shea Weber winds the puck around the near side. We have a whistle here, he's going to call Evans and point to work I saw, Yeah. They were Evans wouldn't stop. It was at the blue line, and he pushes him and pushes them again on monetary Rafi. Interesting. They decided to call that Phil interference in Russian. That role point. Fascinating, Mr Handsome Daddy got to just quick enough away from Evans. Evans. One goal in the playoffs came into play in which he was injured against limping into an empty net, and he almost had another goal into an empty nap. At that time, it was Goalie on the ice. Yeah. Alright. So full on four hockey for the next two minutes, no point available for the lightning. China was thrown out of the draw against Cirelli. So Suzuki and Sara Lee to the left of Carey Price. "Across the line on left wing, an election and his angled off good played by Anthony Cirelli. They're allowing them to stretch it. They caught the Canadians on the change plot gets it over and Kucherov scores. Bad change by the Canadians costs them dearly. It's 31 Tampa Bay and what an alert play by the Tampa Bay defense again. They've been involved in every goal. John hollers Joe Micheletti on the call Here on Sports USA. It's been always something from Montreal in this series, and not usually a good thing. What's cost? The most are bad line changes that even cause that Killer to on old goal, uncharacteristic turnovers and bad locations. Odd man rushes galore and they've never had the lead in the series, which has only happened to other times and Stanley Cup final history. When it was all said and done, head coach Ducharme has some thoughts on the importance of scoring first now. Well, I think it's huge against any team, it would be something important. But at the same time Cannot stop lying. And you know if you don't score the first goal, so no, we want to have a good start. I thought, uh, I thought last game we, uh it's not that we had a bad start is just You know, the major spirit right away on a on a nice ng and and on Empire play. Uh, fuck that we to understand. Uh so we need to, uh Managed to start the right way. Come out, dynamic, active, uh, playing our game, and, uh, you know, getting that first goal there for sure It would be important. And then there's carry Price who was standing on his head, with or without a helmet. All playoffs long from Montreal. But in this series against the best on the planet, the haves Future Hall of Fame goalie ISO and three with the 4 39 goals against at an 8 35 save percentage. Has allowed two goals in the first four minutes of a playoff game for the first time in 87 career starts, and that can get you one win, let alone a chance to win the cup and he knows the score. Now. You don't have a choice. Uh, you know, we've we've overcome adversity all season long. And you know racks are obviously against the wall. So we're going to start bringing our best. Yes, an understatement for sure. And don't ask his coach. If there will be a change in goal for this must win carries a guy playing Monday so If you wonder, or people wonder about who is going to be a net. Kerry is going to be in that. And, yeah, you can talk about one guy and another guy. It's about all of us. To borrow all of us. We need to be better in front of him. Everyone all 20 guys putting on the jersey you know you are looking for Monday night. Playing their best game. That's it. And so how are some of price's teammates sounding now that their backs are super glued against the wall? Well, Brendan Gallagher was actually asked if he can take any positives from that disastrous game three loss. You just have to Correct the mistakes. I mean, it's your here. I'm not going to sit here and take a whole lot of positive. We We believe we can play with these as we believe it since Game one. We just haven't shown it enough for a full 60 minutes. Uh, you know, we've had we've had spurts where we've you know, everything We've talked about. Everything we've done is work. Uh, but there's just been mistakes in our in our game. And, um, you know, we're playing too good of a hockey team. They're you know, they're deep everywhere. They're gonna capitalize are gonna make you pay. Uh, so you know, the positives are this This team has been In many holes. This change been doubted, but the character in that locker room isn't going anywhere. That's something that, uh, we're going to keep competing. Keep playing. In terms of how the games are being played. We need to get better. Sorry for the possible record amount of cliches ahead, But here they come as expected under the circumstances. Josh Anderson, What's your mindset to stay positive? Um, no, we're here for a reason. And, um, obviously, we've dug ourselves a little bit of a whole year. And, um, in the mood slight right now, and, um, we have a job to do, and we're gonna Do everything we can to, um, stay in this thing and fly out Tampa on on Tuesday. So everyone just getting prepared for tomorrow night's game, and, um, we're all going to compete and work hard and put off full effort in Of course, Tomorrow night is now tonight and many moons ago, I was the radio voice to Wisconsin hockey and their leader, then badger. Bob Johnson had some wonderful sayings. Not sure if this was his or not. But what should be hanging in the Canadians locker room right now and became a championship slogan and Madison 60 minutes. No alibis. No regrets when we already know it's a great day for hockey because it always is, and even more so, with the perfectly shined up Stanley Cup in the building, along with our glossy broadcast team. John dollars and one time Montreal drafty A few years back. Joe Micheletti, standing by Atlas, Sandra Bell Fall in Game four and May. None of us ever have to be as desperate as the ABS are tonight, guys. Well, you you Teddy. You pulled out a few of the many cliches that will probably toss around time. The cup is in the building. There's no tomorrow at their backs are against the wall. They're desperate hockey team. All of those things. But also the Tampa Bay Lightning of tossed some cliches around Joe. The fourth one is the most difficult game to get, and there's a little history here. Certainly there were ghosts at the old Forum. Those ghosts remain in Montreal. The Canadians have lost the Stanley Cup final eight times in their history and going to the final 32 times, but only once. In the city of Montreal. Have they lost here? So this is not a foregone conclusion. If you're the Tampa Bay Lightning. You have to just keep the mindset I would think of. Keep your foot on the gas. But leaves Captain Syl Apps was and he got to skate off with the Stanley Cup that sits in the building tonight, waiting for the now probable back to back run by the Lightning. Meanwhile, the last sweep in the Cup final was in 1998 when Detroit put away Washington and who is the captain of the wings and their M v p that season? Stevie I Zerman, the man who helped put this Tampa Bay Club on the championship map. So a little trivia for you to play with their as we get you ready for Game four last Friday night, saw the first Cup final game played in Montreal in 28 years in the home team lost 6 to 3. The haves had everything in their favor, except for maybe the rosters. It was the emotional return of interim head coach Dominic Ducharme from Covid Protocol. They had a small but loud and proud, very boisterous 3500 fans in the building and many more outside chanting. We want the cup, but it was Tampa Bay that came out flying, and they not only scored first, but twice in the 1st 3.5 minutes of the 1st and 2nd periods, which was just too much to overcome. For the haves and oh, not only haven't a Canadian scored first yet in this series, but they're yet to get a lead, which is by far when they are at their best 26 giveaways in Game three by the haves after just five in each of the first two games, hardly the recipe for success first time in 12 tries this postseason. Montreal has scored at least two goals in a game and lost Now. It feels like months ago when the Canadians won seven straight and scored first in each of those to get here. Module did get back in the game two with a big first goal of the playoffs by Phillip Danault in the opening period to make it 2 to 1, Tampa and then it was only 1 40 into the second period when the Canadians made one of their too many bad mistakes that may have cost them the game and really the series. Gallagher feeds it across the line on left wing and Lincoln and his angled off good play by Anthony Cirelli. They're allowing them to stretch it. They caught the Canadians on the change a lot. Gets it over and Kuchar off scores. A bad change by the Canadians costs them dearly. It's 31 Tampa Bay and what an alert play. By the Tampa Bay defense again. They've been involved in every goal. John Hollers Joe Micheletti on the call Here on Sports USA. It's been always something from Montreal in this series, and not usually a good thing. What's caused the most are bad line changes that even cause that killer to an old goal uncharacteristic turnovers in bad locations. Odd man rushes galore and They've never had the lead in the series, which has only happened to other times and Stanley Cup final history when it was all said and done, and coach Ducharme has some thoughts on the importance of scoring first now. Well, I think it's huge against anything it would be, uh, something important. At the same time. Cannot stop lying. And you know if you don't score the first goal, so you know, we want to have a good start. I thought, uh, I thought last game we, uh it's not that we had a bad start is just They made us period right away on a on a nice thing and and on the power play. Uh fuck that we to understand. Uh so we need to, uh Managed to start the right way. Come out dynamic, active. Playing our game. And, uh, you know, getting that first goal for sure will be important. And then there's Carey Price, who was standing on his head, with or without a helmet all playoffs long from Montreal. But in this series against the best on the planet, the Habs Future Hall of Fame goalie ISO and three with the 4 39 goals against at an 8 35 save percentage. He's allowed two goals in the first four minutes of a playoff game. For the first time in 87 career starts, and that can't get you one win, let alone a chance to win the cup and he knows the score. Now you don't have a choice. Uh, you know, we've we've overcome adversity all season long. And you know racks are obviously against the wall. So we're going to start bringing our best. Yes, an understatement for sure. And don't ask his coach. Everyone all 20 guys putting on the jersey you know, are looking for Monday night playing their best game, that's it. And so how are some of price's teammates sounding now that their backs are super glued against the wall? Well, Brendan Gallagher was actually asked if he can take any positives from that disastrous game three loss. You just have to Correct the mistakes. I mean, it's your here. I'm not gonna sit here and take a whole lot of positive. We We believe we can play with these guys. We believe it since Game one. We just haven't shown it enough now for a full 60 minutes. "Never really know until they get out and toe into game action and He said so himself that he wasn't sure you know what he could expect from himself after so long off, but great night all around and like you said earlier, just a great goaltending duo for the Tampa Bay Lightning right now. Currency. Can we make any conclusions before we let you go regarding the Lightning's division? I mean, it seems there's ah, top half and you know, a kind of a group that send the middle that that's fighting for a playoff spot. And then you know, a couple teams towards the back in that. That probably aren't going to make the playoffs And maybe you're just gonna be spoilers. But I think the lightning, you know they haven't played the cream of the crop. Yet In the end, the division they've have, you know the game against Carolina, the two games against Columbus. I would say there's have probably been their toughest opponent so far. They're 11 in one in those three games, So I think we'll get a truer sense of just how good this team could be. After we see Florida after we see Dallas after we see Carolina little bit more. Right now. They're kind of feasting on, you know, probably the teams that are gonna be out of the postseason, but that's what you have to do. Right now. You have to beat those teams in the Lightning have certainly done that. Burns. He's always we appreciate it. We'll do it again soon. All right. Thank you, Greg. All right. Brian Burns. "We'll get you set for Tampa Bay and Nashville again. I am Greg Llanelli Tampa Bay one, its fifth consecutive game following that, for one win. Over the national Predators at Bridgestone Arena last night was the start of a four game road trip for the Bolts. The lighting's five game win streak is the longest active win streak in the NHL and their longest of the season, and it's exactly the star Tampa Bay wanted to this shortened season. They're now 81 and one overall and in first place in the Discover Center division. The team is playing well. In all three phases of the game offense. Defense and goaltending have been very good. Especially defensively, The Lightning has given up exactly one goal in each of their last three games. Tampa Bay enters tonight's game leading the NHL for fewest goals allowed per game at 1.90 offense comes and goes, No doubt about that. Letting will always be a threat to score at any time in a game, But it's what they've done defensively that has them poised to make another long run in the playoffs. The lighting's goaltending continues to be the envy of just about every team in the league as well. Typically, we're talking about how great Andrei Vasilevskiy is when he gets a start. Last night, Curtis Macaroni was the Nets. In fact, it was his first start and appearance since March 8th of 2020 That's 11 months. The first two periods weren't that busy for the lightning that minor, but in the third, he made some outstanding saves. A lot of lot of practice time, obviously in the bubble, and now in this season, so you know it's just a matter of getting acclimated as quick as I could. I thought the guys did a tremendous job of helping me out in the first couple periods there, especially. They certainly did. And then things picked up in the third period. You expected Nashville to make a push. They have some skilled players there that needed to get going and boy did they ever and McElhaney really had to make a number of key saves in that third period. And he was asked afterwards if he was surprised Nashville pushed in the third. Yeah, I think it was to be expected. I mean, obviously, we had to nothing lead going into that period. You know, there's kind of a natural tendency to sit back a little bit and watch other team make a bit of a push. And they did that there. They got a couple power plays where he will sneak one by, but overall, I thought we did a tremendous job. I mean, there were some huge blocks You saw the defenseman and everybody else collapsing down and Front of my net there, especially at the end. So Justin, tremendous work from the players in front of me. Yeah, he stopped. 23 of 24 shots earned that win and his season debut was also his first victory since of 43 overtime win at Colorado Back on February. 17th of 2020 And he was just lights out, and I think his teammates really appreciated the effort. Anthony Sara Lee said. McElhaney was great. Mac was unbelievable tonight. You know, just the way he works so hard. He works. You know, we gave some pretty good chance is there in the third? Like you said, Mac was there Bella cell, you know, but that's what does he goes in there, and he's cellar for us each and every time so you know he's kind of our backbone back there and like you said, You know, we have a couple chances there, but he was there to save it for us. Now, speaking of surreally, he certainly came through last night in a big way and allowed Tampa Bay to play with the lead. And both his goals last night coming from tough angles. A point you Shane spins it by the Lightning Met Sara Lee blocks it battling Forsberg and Sara Lee comes up with it. Anthony Cirelli zips it out Turn act, leading the charge to center. When corn Alex corn sneaking his way across the blonde obstacle. So really, what a shot from Anthony Saralee just shut up the net and it's one. Nothing waiting. Thanks it right point, a circuit judge. Circle. It's Sara Lee CenterPoint circuit. Jeff Circuits have walked into the slot shoots a maid rebound. Gordon sorry, Sara Lee on the rebound. It bounced past gorgeous a rally and just like his first goal, he just swatted the puck to the net. Anthony Cirelli is two goals tonight, and it's too nothing lining. He's got points and seven of 10 games so far this year, of course, Dave Michigan and the Hall of Famer Phil Esposito on the call. You can't score if you don't shoot and Sarah Lee doing a nice job of just putting it on Net school, Lauren give him props. On that first school for winning a puck battle. And again we talk about each line. Really, for the lightning having a lot of chemistry. We saw that with Eonni Gord Line along with Blake, Coleman and Barkley. Good row, they were really good. First line's been outstanding and it was great to see Cirelli get to gold last night as well..

Hi Vasilevskiy, The 25 year old coming over from the Swiss league with a short break away opportunity, Vasilevskiy able to turn that one aside, Tampa would pad their lead. I'll midway through that period, and it was another quick power play goal. That first one came 31 seconds after Calvin to Han went to the box, And after Duncan Keith was called for a delay of game they needed just 39 seconds when Steven Stamkos parking out on the dot is usual spot there on the power play. Made it a four Nothing game at the 9 56 mark from points and had been for nothing after 40 minutes of action, another period in which the Blackhawks were out shot 13 8 just like they were in the first period onto the third stanza. We went hawks able to kill off another Duncan Keith Powell, the early on but Brayden point was able to deliver from point blank range of the 6 45 mark from Stamkos and circuit You have That made a five Nothing. Tampa Bay lead Hawks got one more power play opportunity with a little more than five minutes remain their third of the night and this time well, we'll take a fluke bounce in order to destroy a shutout bid by Andrei Vasilevskiy. It was credited to Dylan Strome Hedman poke checks it away, but Cain took the puck back behind the Lightning net. Strom in the left wing corner 28 seconds on the power play Strom top of the left circle, now guns, a shot on goal, and I think that Hitman Celeski in the mask and ricocheted away. To see the replay on that one. And now they scar somehow this one pinballed off of feeling strong state from behind the Tampa net. He was about 4 ft. Below the goal line. And the puck deflected off of vessel s key skate on ugly looking gold, but it'll count as the Blackhawks end up here, getting on the board and ruining a second shutout bid. Andrei Vasilevskiy is career against the Blackhawks. He came in with a shout out among his four victories versus no defeats. He's now five and Oh, has to sit on that one. Shut out. I'm sure he will be back in the net on Friday night, but Dylan Strome scoring on the power play credit to him, even though the puck was ping Pong ng off a couple of Tampa Bay skates as well and then Vasilevskiy stick stick. Bull Quist and Andrew Shaw with the helpers to make the final score. 5 to 1 Hawks route shot 76 in the 3rd 33 22 for the game. They were even at the face off Got it has turns out winning 28 while Losing 28 as well. The Blackhawks getting 11 face off. Rather, 10 face off winds and 13 attacks from David Camp and Dylan Strome actually won 11 of 19 on the night and the three stars selection not officially listed yet. It is opening night. People are not going to rust off, but I would have to guess this is a three star sweep by the Tampa Bay Lightning. It is sponsored by Bud Light. There's a bud light there. My guess is our that Andrea Vessel s key was the third star of the game. Anthony Cirelli, or Brayden Point will be the second star of the game for Tampa Bay and Steven Stamkos with his goal and to assist the captain, the number one star of the game time for another break on the.

"Third period is next. Here for a recap is Chris Boden. Blackhawks trailing the Kappa Beta lightning by a score of four Nothing after two periods of play, highlighting scored three of their goals in the opening stanza. Midway through was Andre Palat scoring on the power play following a Calvin Don interference call, and then they scored a pair of goals a minute 39 apart late in that period, Matthew Joseph, really from behind the goal line. As it got behind Malcolm Suban, who then as he was backing up, accidentally knocked the puck in minute. 39 later was Anthony Cirelli, scoring his first of the year to make it three. Nothing game heading into period Number two. Blackhawks also had a power play their second of the game, carry over to the second period, unable to cash in and killed in an Ambo Qu'est penalty early on about four minutes in his he was whistled for holding and the Blackhawks probably got their best scoring chance of the middle stands in one of the new faces, was able to break in all alone, taking the lead. Point by Keith Hell Fire and that deflects away from the front of the Lightning net Brayden point into the hot zone dumps it now down the left wing corner. There's Kubelik to poke it up the right side boards Carpenter their sense that he had a breakaway for the Hawks. Here's peace sooner toward the net with a backhand shot. It's turned wide by Vasilevskiy SPS suitor again denied by Andrei Vasilevskiy and one of the Blackhawks eight shots on goal in that period suitor one of two hawks making their NHL. They abused that along with Ian Mitchell, one of five Black Hawk or five making there Blackhawks debut as well, So it remained a three nothing game. But Duncan Keith was called for a delay of game penalty, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning their third power play of the night and Steven Stamkos delivered Feeds it into the far corner there to get a local art. He'll wind it around to the left wing boards, the stamp coast ahead and at the line deep slot to point left circle over to stand coastal One timer, he scores That's his money spot from the left circle. Steven Stamkos, who scored a boatload of goals from that spot registers another one..
