Control of Senate still uncertain with a few races left to be determined

"Is between Republican Senator David Perdue and Democrat John Assaraf. If Jonah's Off can pull David Perdue down below that 50% mark that race will go to a runoff A swell. Joining us now is Shivan Hughes, Capitol Hill reporter at The Wall Street Journal. They're joining us. Theo von Good to be here wanted to get an update on the elections. The Senate was something that a lot of people were focusing on. We've already kind of talked about how the polls were wrong again, or the races weren't as tight as we thought. You know, there was a lot of talk about Democrats possibly picking up a lot of Senate seats, possibly flipping the Senate. It doesn't look like that's gonna happen now. But there are some pickups that the Democrats did get, and there's still a few races that we have yet to call on this. So Shiven tell us a little bit about what's going on in the Senate. So right now, the Senate stands at an even 48 48 48 for Democrats, 48 for Republicans, Democrats picked oven at one seat because they won seats in Colorado and Arizona. But they lost a seat in Alabama. So that's where you get the net one. There are four races that are outstanding one in Alaska, where the Republican Dan Sullivan is expected to win and one in North Carolina, where that Republican Thom Tillis is expected to win, so to holds, the focus now is on to Georgia Senate races. One of them is already going to go to a runoff next year. That's the one featuring Republican Senator Kelly La Flor, who is defending that seat. The other one is between Republican Senator David producer and Democrat Jon Ossoff's. If Jon Ossoff's can pull David Perdue down below that 50% mark that race will go to a runoff. A swell If both races go to a runoff, and if Democrats pick up both seats, Democrats would have 50 seats total, which, if Joe Biden becomes the president means that Democrats would be in control. But that's a very, very narrow pathway for Democrats to climb and already you hear Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Sounding confident that he is going to be the majority leader next year. You know, I mentioned the poles and how wrong they were or how off they were. What do polls say about these two races? At least, I mean, if they're going to run off their already really tight races to begin with. So going into this, The Poles did show that these were going to be very tight races, at least especially in the case of David Perdue. He had started out in the polls a little bit ahead and then in the public polls going into this, he was less than a percentage point behind so well within the margin of error. And the point that suggested it was a dead. He we now have ah, different kind of pole in the form of the fact that people have now voted and we're seeing those votes start to come in. Currently, we have David D'oh at about the 50% mark, with votes still to be counted on absentee basis. We're looking in particular at those Atlanta suburbs, and that compares to about 47.7% for the Democrat John Assaraf with the libertarian at about 2% points, so a very, very close race there. Our Democrats looking in the house. That was another one where they said, you know, there was a possibility of them gaining seats that actually looks like they lost a few seats. So what's going on in the House of Representatives? The races aren't fully called yet. But yes, Democrats were sure they were going to pick up seats, maybe on the order of about 10 seats this cycle, and instead, Democrats are losing seats down by about seven, according to our last count. You're seeing Democrats like Joe Cunningham in South Carolina. Having lost in suburban areas like outside of ST Louis and Wagner's seat in Missouri. She held on to that Nazi which Democrats about they're going to be able to flip in New York State. Max Rose was not looking likely to keep the Democratic seat also Anthony Brindisi in a more western part of the state, not looking likely to keep his seat. So this was not a good election for Democrats. And as we Speak. The House Democrats are in the middle of a private conference call where you have to be sure they are hashing these issues out, and it's probably not very pretty. So, as you mentioned again, this kind of leaves us with the two houses divided again, just as we've had this past four years of President Trump, so whoever comes in, it'll be pretty difficult to get anything done again. Just as we've been going through. It's going to be really hard to get anything done. And because the outcome in the Senate is uncertain, we don't know exactly what's going to be possible. But whatever it is, it's going to be a lot less ambitious than what Democrats were thinking. Democrats were already planning for a big Corona virus relief package early next year. They had been planning to do major legislation on climate change, and you're seeing those be scaled back. I'm hearing people talk about maybe an infrastructure package that has Eluded both parties for so long, maybe something on broadband. I'm starting to hear with expectations that Joe Biden is likely to be the victor. Is there anything that he could do through executive action? Could he take money that Congress has already appropriated it and repurpose that it wouldn't be nearly enough as what Democrats are hoping to achieve their covert aid bill, but they're starting to explore alternative pathways.

"We encourage you to take part in the show at eight five five four hundred savage eight five five four hundred seven two eight two. There is a lot going on. And it affects you directly where the roots in your pocket, you you don't have to be a government worker for the shutdown to be affecting you it could be if you're going to the airport. You're so your services if you're going on vacation there are so many little things with this twenty five percent shutdown, and it's getting worse. Well, the state of the union is coming up January twenty nine then President Donald Trump has an opportunity to explain his side of the story to the American people, but Nancy Pelosi does not want him to do that earlier today. The house speaker took the let's just say I think power play step of wanting the president to delay. This state of the union. She wrote a letter urging him to delay the state of the union until the partial government shutdown is over now. There's no audio. There's no video of this. It was given in writing. This is a power play on the part of Nancy Pelosi. But we have to ask ourselves. Why? Why would she want to delay the state of the union in your lifetime? I don't care if you're twelve years old or ninety years old you remember a state of the union ever being postponed for political reasons it it's insane. But if you look back on the events of just the last week in the last couple of days, there's a reason Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats are the cause of the shutdown going on for as long as it has. We are in day twenty six right now now in that Oval Office meeting Donald Trump said he doesn't care he'll take responsibility for the shutdown. So most polls are showing that he is to blame. And during the holidays, he stayed in the White House. He didn't go down tomorrow. I'll go where his family was Democrats went home. Nancy Pelosi went to Hawaii. He was doing it for a photo op to say I'll be in the Oval Office come here. He knew no one was gonna come. And it kind of went nowhere because the media won't give him a break. So what you have going on. Now is just yesterday. President Trump invited the Democrats to the White House to meet with him to try to compromise to try to come to some type of agreement that would end this shutdown the Democrats declined his invitation, they wouldn't even show up, and they did not show up a bunch of Republicans showed up. So how could you say, oh, Mr President end this shutdown? Oh, we care about the government workers. We want homeland security open and funded and so on and so forth. How can you say you want these things how can Democrats say they care about people when they won't even sit down with the president. The reason Nancy Pelosi asked the president today or to have him consider postponing the state of the union is because they want to try to deny him that national audience. They want to deny him that platform of the state of the union where people who will not the Savage Nation. Listeners but people who are only half paying attention because you're busy with your nine to five. You're busy with your kids. They will even be paying attention that night. It will be a bigger audience than even his first Oval Office address earlier this month, they do not want to give him that platform. They want to take that platform away. Why it's because they will lose the argument. President Trump will get up in front of the nation. Everybody will be out there. Those who love him those who hate him and everybody in between, and he will say amongst other things I invited the Democrats to the White House they refuse to even come. And a lot of people are going to be going. I didn't know that. Why wouldn't you go and the momentum will change because right now, they're not winning the argument. But when it comes to blame the momentum is shifting towards the Republicans and Trump because well, they have the media on their side. The Democrats do and they're you know, the beating that drum there. Founding that drum constantly all day the media Trump's fault. I mean, come on. Look what happened the other day, Clemson, NCWA football champions went to the White House traditional, right? Was no drama of. I'm not gonna go. I don't like the president and the president serve them up fast food. Mcdonald's Burger King. Wendy's. I I know KFC wasn't there. I know KFC was not on the menu. I don't know why. But the, you know, the majors I don't know if he had Taco Bell either. But he had all of them there anyway, and he was ripped apart in the media why because it's Trump think about it if Barack Obama or Bill Clinton had done this they go. Oh, Bill Clinton who loves his big Macs. He goes jogging every morning can't go past the McDonald's without going in there, always know wonderful. He's in touch with the everyday people. But no, it was it was Trump. So they have to make it negative. And with that. I ask you since they pick on him serving big Macs. Walkers and Mendy Wendy's double stacks. Do the Dem's have any more credibility when it comes to whether it's taking a position on something that affects you like the government shutdown think of it this way, the coverage of Donald Trump in two thousand eighteen ninety percent of Trump coverage remains negative. This is what study has found. I mean, this is amazing. Actually, it's down from ninety three percent earlier last year. So it really it really is a joke when you are calling him sexist because he said he didn't want to serve a bunch of football players salad like his wife would have you guys. Don't look like salad eaters to me, I'm paraphrasing. But he said something like that the media the media jumped on him and calling him sexist. You're not going to have any credibility. So bring that back to Nancy Pelosi wanting to postpone the state of the union because she wants to do. Deny Donald Trump the platform to deliver the truth to the American people at the end of the day. They don't wanna lose the argument. But do they even have an argument to win anymore? This is my question to you, the Savage Nation listeners do Dem's have any more credibility. Now. Look, let's look at Nancy Pelosi for a second. She put out this statement today. What is she all about? She's all about power, right? She wanted to be speaker of the house. There's a civil war going on which you won't hear about on fake news MSNBC and CNN in the Democratic Party. She only got the speaker's gavel by two votes. So there's not a lot of wiggle room for her there. She can't run around saying that, you know, she's the Queen because she's not all of the young rabble rousers. Who got voted into office in the house are trying to undermine her? But what does she do? She's not doing anything for her district in California up in northern California San Francisco area, she's not doing anything for the. House. She's not doing anything for the American people. It's all about her own power grab. She's nuts with power, and let me give you an example of that. Fifteen. Congress men and women in the house voted against Nancy Pelosi, one was New York Representative democrat, Kathleen rice, what did Nancy Pelosi due? She denied the former Nassau County that's Long Island prosecutor a seat on the lower chamber's high profile judiciary committee and just for those of you who don't get in the trenches with this stuff to be on. The judiciary committee is sought after it is something that she you would have wanted. And by all reports Representative rice wanted it as well. So Nancy Pelosi is very vindictive and everything she's doing is about power trying to take down Trump trying to humiliate Trump trying to control the house trying to control. The situation at the border with the wall. Another Representative democrat, Anthony Brindisi he was also denied a position on the Armed Services Committee. This happened earlier this week on Monday because he voted against Pelosi Pelosi is nuts with power probably corrupt if she was investigated and all she cares about is controlling everything in front of our weather. It's the president whether it's the border whether it's you or whether it's undermining people of her own party. She's in a civil war right now within her own party instead of trying to mend fences instead of trying to work with the young congressmen and women who have come in. And let's face it time is on their side. I mean, she's what seventy eight years old give or take a year. There's only so many grains of sand left in the hourglass for her. This is her last gasp. So. Does she want to go out like L A or somebody and not go out on a positive note is what I mean, not hanging upside down in a town square, but she's not working with them. Instead, she's being vindictive. She was vindictive against Representative Anthony Brindisi, and she was vindictive against Kathleen rice, why because they voted against her for the speakership. And I'm sure the other thirteen are going to suffer as well. Nancy Pelosi is a woman crazed with power and crazed with a control and she's trying to control the president by having him postponed. The state of the union and also trying to make him look foolish. And the question is why why is because Democrats cannot win the conversation on the shutdown because they cannot win any debate or argument or issue when it comes to the border and border security, and let's face it. This all has to do the shutdown all has to do with border security. Nothing more not. Nothing less. Republicans will always win. They might lose a few battles along the way. But they will win the war when it comes to 'immigration, and when it comes to securing the border wall or no wall Democrats have no leg to stand on they take. They take the side of illegals over American citizens white black Asian native American Hispanic homeless rich poor doesn't matter. They take the side of the legal criminals over you every day, and in the end that's not going to bode well for speaker Pelosi, and she knows that. So she wants to postpone the state of the union because she doesn't want to give Trump that platform 'cause she's worried if he gets up there that they will lose the argument on the shutdown and in the long run immigration, and I'd like to know what you to listen to the Savage Nation. Think about that. And with relation to this. I mean, do the Democrats have any more credibility ninety percent of coverage from the arm of the Democratic Party one. Is the media is negative. I mean when you're picking on salad. Do you really have credibility? When a real issue comes up something that truly matters to the American people. I don't think so eight five five four hundred savage eight five five four hundred seven two..

The house speaker took the let's say I think power play step of wanting the president to delay. We are in day twenty six right now now Oval Office meeting. Donald Trump said he doesn't care he'll take responsibility for the shutdown. So most polls are showing that he is to blame. And during the holidays, he stayed in the White House. He didn't go down to mar-a-lago where his family was Democrats went home. We want homeland security opened and funded and so on and so forth. How can you say you want these things? How can the Democrats say they care about people when they won't even sit down with the president. The reason Nancy Pelosi ask the president today or to have him consider postponing the state of the union is because they want to try to deny him that national audience. Those who love them those who hate him and everybody in between, and he will say amongst other things I invited the Democrats to the White House they refuse to even come. And a lot of people are going to be going. I did know that why wouldn't you go and the momentum will change because right now, they're not winning the argument. But when it comes to blame the momentum is shifting towards the Republicans and Trump because well, they have the media on their side, the Democrats do and they're the beating that drum there. Founding that drum constantly all day the media Trump's fault. I mean, come on. Look what happened the other day, Clemson NC double a football champions went to the White House traditional, right? It was no drama of. I'm not going to go. I don't like the president and the president serve them up fast food. Mcdonald's Burger King. Wendy's. I I know KFC wasn't there. I know KFC was not on the menu. I don't know why. But the, you know, the majors I don't know if he had Taco Bell either.
