Good morning, I'm Sandy Kozel. Acacia James is our producer. The top stories we're following for you today. A massive manhunt is underway near Hampton, Georgia. That's where at least four people have been killed in the nation's latest mass shooting. Police Chief James Turner says the suspect, Andre Longmore, is still at is suspected to be in as a black GMC Acadia 2017 with Georgia tag David Henry Frank 756. He was last seen in that vehicle. Hampton's a small town of about 8 ,000 people just south of Atlanta. Police in Pennsylvania have captured 34 -year -old Michael Burum. He's the homicide suspect who escaped from the Warren County Jail July 6th. Pennsylvania State Police Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens. Our tip line received a call from some residents about a suspicious individual. We mobilize resources that I told you we have done many times including significant number of personnel on the ground. Burum was taken into custody without incident in a wooded area in western Pennsylvania. The woman who went missing near I -459 in Alabama has been found safely. Here's WIAT -TV anchor Jen Cardone. While details on her return are limited police tell us that they received a call around 1045 Saturday saying she showed up to her house in Hoover. Russell was taken to UAB Hospital to get checked out. You may remember that she was reported missing late Thursday night after police say she stopped on their Interstate 459 to help a toddler beside the road. He hailed his country's soldiers in a video from a Black Sea island that became the symbol of Ukraine's resilience in the face of the Russian invasion. Speaking from Snake Island, Zelensky honored the Ukrainian soldiers who fought for the island and all other defenders of the country. Intense battles meanwhile continue to rage in the country's east and south as Ukrainian forces press their attacks against multilayered Russian defenses in the initial stages of their counter -offensive. The Biden administration says it will send Ukraine cluster bombs, which are outlawed by many of America's closest allies. A cluster bomb is a type of weapon designed to disperse smaller bombs over a large area. They've been known to put civilians at risk. New York Times Pentagon correspondent John Ismay joined WTOP to explain why US the would send Ukraine these controversial weapons. I think what this is is perhaps maybe one of the least worst options the Pentagon has, meaning if they feel that they're unable to continue sending the explosive high shells that they've sent so many of to Ukraine already, and if Ukraine is willing to accept the risk, the additional attendant risk that comes with these cluster weapon shells, then it appears that to me the Pentagon has decided to acquiesce to what Ukraine's been asking for. The decision comes just before a NATO summit in Lithuania, where President Biden is likely to face questions from the two thirds of the alliance members who have banned the use of cluster bombs. Yesterday marked 100 days since Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gurskovich was detained in Russia. The US is ramping up the push for his release. The job market continues to chug along, although it slowed a bit, adding nearly 210 thousand jobs last month, with the unemployment rate dropping to 3 .6 percent. Paul Brand and as a finance columnist for Dow Jones Market Watch, tells us how things look in our area. DC's jobless trade 5 rate .1 percent. It's always the highest around here. Quite good historically though, above the national average about 20 ,000 people are unemployed in the district. Virginia used to have the lowest jobless rate in the DMV. That is no longer the case. Even so, it's unemployment remains terrific. 2 .9 percent, but the crown here is warranted by Maryland. It's jobless rate an amazing 2 .4 percent, well below the national average. Brand says healthcare, construction, and education are among the sectors doing well in the job market, while media, technology, and finance are showing cuts. DC Bar Association is recommending that former President Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani should be disbarred for his actions after the 2020 presidential election. A three -member panel determined that Giuliani's arguments of election fraud in Pennsylvania were made without any evidence, and that a prudent attorney would not have tried to make them. Politico senior legal affairs reporter Josh Gerstein joined WTOP to remind us that Giuliani's legal credentials are already in jeopardy elsewhere. Giuliani's primary bar license is in New York state, and it was suspended already a couple of years ago over similar allegations. It's unclear what the status of that proceeding is, but we know that he has not gotten his bar license back, nor has he been officially disbarred up there in New York. If disbarred, Giuliani would be prohibited from practicing We're learning more about concerns about Donald Trump's handling of classified documents while he was president. Ex -Trump administration aide Miles Taylor writes in an upcoming book about an episode that concerned officials. They say then President Trump was cavalier in his handling of classified information while talking to reporters. This is according to NBC News, which obtained a copy of the book. Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten is one step closer to being released from prison. California's governor says he'll no longer fight her parole. KCalTV's Tom Waits says she's been in prison for 53 years. Then Houghton, now 73, was convicted for participating in two of the infamous Manson Family murders, killings the of Lino and Rosemary LaBianca. Van Houten has been recommended for parole five times, but her release was ultimately blocked by former Governor Jerry Brown and current Governor Gavin Newsom. The state appeals court ruled that in May that Van Houten should be released. In a statement, Governor Newsom said appealing that decision was unlikely to succeed. A report from the three -member panel looks at Giuliani's argument in Pennsylvania in a lawsuit they are seeking to overturn former president Donald Trump's loss to Democrat Joe Biden. Essentially these bar panels have concluded that there was no there there when it came to that litigation and that sort of a prudent attorney would not have filed case the in the first place knowing that there was a lack of evidence. That's the main thing that seems to have caught up with Giuliani in this particular proceeding. That is Politico senior legal affairs reporter Josh Bernstein. The panel's work now goes to the DC Court of Appeals for a final decision. It cost the Justice Department nine million dollars to fund the first few months of the investigations into Donald Trump. That's according to just for these documents. From November of last year through the end of March the vessel counsel Jack Smith's office spent more than five million dollars on things including employee salaries travel and transportation. The Justice Department agency spent another four million dollars supporting the special counsel's office. Smith is leading the investigation into the former president's handling of the classified documents and his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. 835 there are new revelations about former President Trump and his handling of classified information. They come from an upcoming book by an ex -Trump administration aide. NBC News has obtained a copy of the book by Miles Taylor who was a top aide to the Homeland Security Secretary Christian Nielsen. It's set to be published this month. In the book Taylor describes an instance in which officials worried that then President Trump was too casual in his handling of of classified information when it came to talking with reporters even though Mr. Trump had broad powers to declassify material as president. Van Halten's attorney says the state parole board must give one final sign off and Van Houten could be out in weeks. Newsom rejected parole for Van Houten three times but a appeals state court has said she should be released.
