Kelly Clarkson Files For Divorce From Brandon Blackstock

"We have to begin with Kelly Clarkson surprising news Kelly has filed for divorce from her husband Brandon. They're married for almost seven years and in court papers obtained by a news, she cites irreconcilable differences, a request for joint custody and no spousal support brandit. You guys. I was shocked when I heard this. What did you guys think Oh same yeah I think everybody was really shopped and I. Think even having those details of knowing that she's saying no spousal support for him in that leads me. Me To believe that things maybe aren't really that amicable right now. Sources are telling us that their friends are totally surprised to which kind of makes me believe. Maybe something happened suddenly during this quarantine I know that a lot of people are parting ways during this time, but every time we spoke to Kelly. It was clear that she loved being a wife. She loved being a mother and meant everything to her. Listen to this I heard you say in an interview that you don't really get caught up in the accolades. You just want to be a great wife and a great mom. Yes, those are really hard things to be or do you feel like being a mom is made you more confident. kind of been a confident person but I will say it does bring another level of like. I don't care about things that are important. This is pretty special. Can you believe this is happening right now? I literally had a conversation, my husband, the other day and we were like. Life because we both came from pretty humble beginnings and This wasn't even in the picture like the idea like the vision. Board like this was definitely something beyond I could have imagined gosh I mean hard of hearing that back. There were no signs of divorce bill when you listen to that. Yeah, I'm always curious. It's always so hard, because I feel like we see these couples, people hashtag relationship goals, and then you know a year later. They filed for divorce because I definitely. Kind of felt like Kelly Clarkson had the perfect life you know and and getting divorced doesn't mean that she does it. You know we I just goes to show that what we see on the outside is not always what's going on in the inside, and it does sound like though that it seems very mature. It doesn't seem like it's anything nasty. It doesn't mean that they won't have a great co-parenting relationship, right? Yeah I think that's just what it is. I mean divorce is always really heartbreaking, and you know what unfortunately sometimes people get to a place where they feel like there's just nothing else that they can do to continue to stay in a romantic relationship, and they realized that their relationship is better off as being friends, so it's obviously very painful, but hopefully both of them will be better off being apart. Yeah and. Kelly in her career and everything that she's doing right now. She seems so on top of the world like you said Nina but I I wonder if maybe she just got too busy or. You know. Some of the priorities changed in her life. You know we are humans and we're constantly evolving, so yeah I think you know we won't know until they're ready to speak on and what the reasons were. She's always been busy, but just because we're people who work in television, especially producing shows how ruling that can be and I sometimes feel like when you work these long. Your patients becomes a lot shorter for the the I don't know you. Are So has anything to do with it, but I will tell you as I think. Sometimes you do change as your success gets greater and you have. Less tolerance for certain things, so who knows what could have happened?

Iowa Poll cancelled after Buttigieg supporter says candidate's name was omitted during a poll call

"Us this is the pull from the des Moines register tell us a little bit about it and why it's considered to be a pretty important poll what all this the reason is considered to be important is because of the poster infielder based in west des Moines Iowa houses early track record especially when it comes to predicting the winner of the democratic caucus she missed the the twenty sixteen Cockett had Donald Trump ahead and of course Ted Cruz ended up defeating Donald Trump in Iowa four years ago but in the democratic race she's nailed every single one going back to nineteen eighty eight and a lot of folks were eagerly anticipating this call is going to be on the front page of today's the morning register the Sunday edition which is something that a lot of perspective and likely caucus goers and I were going to read be there was going to be an hour's worth of programming last night on CNN to unveil the new poll results and then all of a sudden at eight PM central time when folks were tuning in or going to the one register website to see the results of the poll instead they got a statement about why those two news organizations were not releasing the data all right so why were they releasing at well it all goes back to a complaint that was registered by the judges campaign I was told that on the early Saturday evening so early last evening just a few hours before the release digits campaign contacted the news organizations that sponsor the poll to say that one of its supporters had reported to them that they were called by the poster to participate in the poll earlier in the week and when the poster says for who who do you support in the caucuses and read a list of candidates the people who did his name was not among the list of candidates they right obviously that if the candidates left off the list that could have an impact on the results and the local news organizations and the culture and soldier went back checked out kind of what might have happened and determine that one of the interviewers in an effort to see them the monitor that they use to help them conduct a poll and register the response of the people they're talking to you have in hands the zoom on the monitor and that had cut off the last candidate's name on the list of candidates list is private randomized by the computer for each separate survey so that is not to bias the results by reading some names first consistently and reading some names last consistently so we can clear whether this would have had a systematic effect but basically knowing that the news organizations decided they didn't have one hundred percent confidence in the data and they chose not to release the call together ahead of tomorrow's caucuses now I saw a lot of reaction to this on social media which is probably not the best place to gauge reasonable response to continues events but what have you been hearing in terms of reaction from the campaigns of various camp every years candidate's supporters well look the the poll can be make or break for some candidates if not you know the caucuses are a unique event you don't go into a voting booth and cast a private secret ballot it's all public it's all among your neighbors who live in your community Anna Kendrick's late momentum poll is measured by the coal and also the good server news cycle and positive press that I can get if he or she appears to be quite a quick search in the final days of the race the that momentum so what this will do is it will give us we we you said there were a few pulled out this week this is the one that I think everyone was waiting for so we're a little in the dark when it comes to the the expected results tomorrow night I'm not sure that's a bad thing it also gives us sort of starved that that opportunity to get momentum attendance will have to do it all on their own out there today listing the state traveling all over trying to rally their supporters the last minute not only to get people to vote for them tomorrow night but also to come out entirely you know going to be twenty degrees tomorrow night and I would have to show up at seven PM local time **** it you have to stay for awhile caucuses are real commitment and these candidates are trying to rally their supporters to get them to come

The Entertainment of 2019: Year in Review

"It interesting year for of the world of entertainment and in terms of the movie screen to get to this explosion of Netflix and all these other different platforms you don't have to go to the big movie theater unless you want the full immersive experience and I always suggest you also get some cookies because as the time of the year but just I think the wives with you enjoy the experience but but I know some of the things the fact you have this posted on your website James person dot com is the ruling over a declining box office because here we have all this if you know the big money is made international especially China will than that with the whole trade the issues going back and forth the editing of certain films so what's going on here is this eventually the demise of the traditional box office expectations in the traditional theaters another been saying that for years with new technology well it it's being yeah it's shrinking kind of traditional movie other than the big franchise brand box office because even though the box office has gone down for the fifth time this decade it's down a record number and the executives and the Hollywood met and many of them I work with they are living in a kind of a denial world I I they know that if these two technological things are you spoke about the fact that you can have a very powerful home theater experience now you know with everybody has a big screen high definition television you're bringing some robots was a I they could pretend like they're part of the crowd you know they can make noise going on cell phones whatever you like yeah but usually because Disney bought Lucasfilm and marble and they have all the biggest intellectual property ownership concept movies they took eighty percent of the top ten so the top ten films of the year eight out of the ten from Disney that's a record Disney also took in ten billion dollars worldwide in their film box office which is also a record but at the same time the box office is down the number of people go to the movies is down and I think it's not just because of the technology I think it's because of the contact and I think what it is is that there's these old concepts things like story characters people long for in his words of Martin Scorsese got highly criticized for speaking out against Marvel superhero movies but there there are more of like a thrill ride in many cases than they are white the kind of story telling that Hollywood became famous for and so because of that you know like the number one movie by actually number one movie of the year and of all time is the ventures and gag which is always the classic not that it's it's a bad movie I mean it's an entertaining movie buddy it's it's all action special effects sci fi superhero fantasy type thing and the others get in the top ten there's captain Marvel there's spider man far from home with the Star Wars the latest Star Wars wars installment the risers creek sky worker these are all from the same bill during it yet all marble or Lucasfilm in there these kinds of movies many of course you have sequels like Toy Story four and frozen was it the golden read books and we're gonna get more and more is that all is well yeah but some of that you get to the new generations and its radio Disney used to do as a by the way for the tuning in talking James person Jim person dot com is my second house over a pop culture among other things but you know Disney had a formula for years back to real DHS and everything else stay AT and into the theaters before that alone every seven years or so they would release like Snow White or something and then they'd go back into the vault and the they keep capturing new generations was masterful now one of the big deals this year's Disney plus the debt is just phenomenal with with what's there you don't really need a lot of other things but it's it's it's all available now so that's another example of how quickly the staff changes your inner exactly what you're talking about by the way for new generations of a new iteration was the remake it with live action The Lion King which was the number two movie any captured a whole new generation of of movie that had captured a previous generation so yeah Disney has the intellectual property so that when they launch their streaming service Disney plus they did something that a lot of people in Hollywood one really freaked out about and then they had a a movie starring Anna Kendrick cold no well it was never released in any it went direct to streaming we haven't even heard that concept direct just dreaming twenty one Disney does it then the people in the industry say oh my gosh this is a trend in the Irish men bad movie that's generating all the on her because of her the foreman should Martin Scorsese unfortunately it has that crazy man Robert De Niro at that but he's consistent and you got a treatment because his movie the molar report on ice the musical didn't do well this year so what is so loved that concept I really do I really do and I I would have given them the Laurie yeah I would go see that if Robert Muller was ice skating I would go see it for sure but but this one it went there was a lady and the tramp remake Disney which and that way director strict streaming I was mentioning the Irishman and there's another movie called marriage is story these are both Oscar bait movies after only one month they went streaming so there could be a new trend in that's good that caters to people that create their own entertainment peered at home and but the only thing is I mean I anecdotally I mean I have friends an average six myself I remember you know we were when we just had cable and all of a sudden we had out hundreds of cable channels and sitting there and I couldn't find anything to watch on cable channel and now people experience that they say oh I'm going through the cable channels I'm going through Netflix I don't see anything I want to watch so I'm gonna watch it's a wonderful life for the eighteen hi so that means there's a vacuum out there for I guess what we would call traditional entertainment and maybe family friendly which is by the way in the end that's where Hollywood makes most of its money because all the top ten films are pretty much the you know there there's no all over you friendly films at the most there's a P. G. thirteen type superhero films that have some action scenes chill Hollywood makes its money with family friendly films and then they attack families with the awards speaking of

"She's the kind of person you look at it and you think you have. Her completely figured out and there's a lot more to her. There's a lot more going on with her and it was one of those tricky he wants because when i read the script like my character is very upbeat very chipper she has qualities that frankly clearly are in the real world kind of denigrated like like she tries really hard and that's not cool and we don't like that and and then you know blake is playing this character who has like the qualities of you know that are that are most valued in our society which is beauty and style oh and wealth and she has this sparkling dialogue and she's very dazzling and so i was like there was a point when i was reading scripture mars saying to the director paul goes. It's like you have to give me something less annoying do because i'm supposed to be the protagonist. The audience is supposed to be on my side but you know the truth is like she acts the way that she does is because she has trauma in her life. Interesting characters play because i have read some people saying why i don't like your character which which means you've played her. Well though yes it's a weird world and where you this is realistic. She super nice and everything and people who are like. I don't like her. Yeah the she's nice. She's nice. She's chipper and you know and it's funny because there's like you know. There isn't a scene where she sits down and says look like this is the way that i i am this way. I'm not really happy. I'm just like really chipper because i'm afraid that if i show one crack off all apart completely completely so it's kind of my challenge was finding the moments to to choose to show that this is all informed by the trauma that she's been through and like there's there's is this running thing in the movie where people are like oh you're a saint and i wanted that her reaction to that to feel different from her usual place of like self deprecation of like like oh this dress oh no not me fill like she was really uncomfortable and like i'm not please don't say that because like to tell her that she's a good person. She doesn't like that because she has a real shame about some of the darkness in her past. Let's talk about a scene in the movie that everyone is buzzing about and that is you kissing blake. Lively people really obsessed about that yeah. It's a tough job. You know professional so i got through it is it. Is it true that this was the freshest interest kissed you yeah well. I've i've kissed some some dudes on screen and i'm always like release conscious omos accent anybody who's got floss. I'm i'm using those little disposable swiss for things and stuff and the guys like you ready. Let's do this and this was like two women so we were both like popping thing mints and gum and it was probably the kiss i've ever had a kiss onscreen chemistry in in cinema history..

"You're listening to comedy central. Welcome anna kendrick in a high chair. It is a high chair. Welcome to the show. Thank you for having me. I feel like you should have warned me personally before. This movie came out because i expected it to be another comedy comedy. Show i proceed in comedy comedy and then i was like oh yeah another comedy disappoint people. That's what i was going up disappointing thrilling but i kept waiting for the joke and then i was just terrified the whole time rates because this was not a comedy at all no well i mean there's hopefully moments where you're it's fun and you're smiling. Maybe but it's not like big belly laugh right. It's it's like you know fun in the way that you have fun when you're scared and your favorite characters might be dead. I don't know it's a very specific type of fun. Yeah yeah that's a very because because the story so for those who don't know that that you play a character whose asked a favor and i'm not going to spoil the plot beyond this point because the movie really has doc twisted. Your friend played by blake lively ask for a favor yeah. She goes. Hey can you look after my kids and then boom she disappears and it's like she's just gone yeah yeah and it is very much like really. She's gone like what's the plan what's going on because she did issue yet and it's just like it's really freaky yeah. It's i know it. It doesn't sound like a lot to go on but there's so many twists and turns like there is a plot beyond just she's gone and that's the end of the movie and we're like this just like where people just standing room like. Where is she she. She's gone. She's gone no. It's really scary because like i say it's weird should try and speak about it without giving anything aways. It's it's an interesting story because you have this character that you playing so different from everyone. You played yeah. It's well. It's it's kind of about like there's lots. There's lots of plot twists and turns but it's kind of about people being more than what they seem and certainly these two women are more than what they seem and you know. Women tend to have of secrets in their lives and emily lakes character has more kind of literal secrets and i think my character has more kind of secrets in the sense of her personality is really really more than what it seems like.

Katzenberg, Jeffrey Free And Ten Minute discussed on The Frame

"You wanna watch a movie would you rather watch it at home or in a movie theater how about another option watching that film on your smartphone but not all that one's rather in one ten minutes snippet a day that's jeffrey free katzenberg thinking behind his short form mobile video platform currently in the works it's called quimby in the name of short quick bites there's still a lot of questions about how it all work before its launch next year but so far quimby has been able raised more than a billion dollars in drawing some top creative talent laying low way senior tv writer at variety has been looking into what ob excitement is about quitting doesn't launch for almost another year actually it'll come out in april twenty twenty twenty but i think the reason why everybody is so hyped up about it is because you've got to story leaders one from tech meg whitman former e b and hewlett packard ceo and this giant of industry jeffrey katzenberg who was at one time the head of dreamworks and walt disney studios and he's really the reason why people are so excited about it right people are excited about it because he's excited about it people believe in because he believed in it he's been selling the service as eight mobile platform that allows these quick bites which is what could be a short for short form content that'll have premium serialized scripted content unscripted content news news and sports and it'll be released in these five to ten minute chunks daily andy idea is that when you're waiting for coffee or you have a dull moment in your day those times when you're whipping out your phone and you're looking at twitter or facebook or something else and you're just putting around phone instead of doing that you'll go quickly and you'll watch five minutes of a sand rainy horror anthology or ten minutes of an anna kendrick buddy comedy instead so he has raised i think more then a billion dollars to fund this and right now it seems like he has attracted some really interesting talent to make content frequency i was in a van a couple of weeks ago where i ran into antwon fuqua who were a lot of people know from the training day movie he's also made the equalizer with denzel washington and he was producing a movie frequency and he was telling me that it was very attractive even though i think this movie was gonna be caught up into ten minute chunks what is jeffries pitch been to the creative community would be paid responding to well a big part of the appeal for creators is he intellectual property because the way it's format it would be will exclusively license their projects for seven years but after the first two years be rights revert back to beans creators and filmmaker so they'll be able to go and repackage this series they'll be able to hopefully seamlessly thread together all of these five to ten minute chunks of these stories and repackage package them as a feature film as a two and a half hour project but they could then go sell to another service so that's really attractive thing and also again there's just see appeal of katzenberg himself because he has been so successful in this industry i mean an wants so i told me that sitting down with jeffrey katzenberg is like sitting down with the godfather yeah although if you look at some of the movies he made at the walt disney company and some of his animated movies there are some questions about jeffrey storytelling taste will save that conversation for something what is the financial model because a lot of people right now are thinking about disconnecting subscriptions that they might have to their cable or satellite company or who were netflix so how are they trying to position it financially and what do they expect you people so they'll be selling two versions of quip me they'll be ad supported version for five dollars a month and any ad free version for seven dollars a month and it sounds like a small amounts but you also consider that people are i don't know if they're near saturation but there are certainly so many different streaming platforms out there you've got netflix and amazon and who and all of these different subscription services that people are already paying for so that even when you cut the cord you've got sometimes a hefty bill at the end of the month when you combine all these so that'll be a real test will be deceived they can break through that barrier and get people to fork over five to seven bucks a month for this of of course they're bringing some real alias talent and that's where their strength wli again you've got a project from kia motors del toro don cheadle liam hemsworth a you know tyra banks chrissy teagan and you know i think the other question here is also whether there will be on de creator side resale value for them after they were allowed to take their project off of quickly or after they're allowed to repackage their project from could be and sell it to a different platform so if there are detractors in town or at least doubters what would you say is a consistent question that they have about quickly what is gonna be the obstacles to its success there are a couple of different questions that came up in are reporting one of them is do people want this model people were still used to benching on tv these days when you're going to netflix their whole thing is the bench model and it's this also isn't appointment tv it's sort sort of a a daily thing that comes on five ten minutes a day but what if i want to watch the whole movie so in that case do i just wait for a month for all of these daily releases it come on the service and then say binge watch them all anyway on a saturday afternoon a so that's definitely a very unique model that hasn't really been done before another question that people have is people are so used to getting something for nothing specially from a mobile device store people going to be willing to fork over five and seven bucks a month for quickey a get another question is will the viewership justify the cost there are some really high numbers that were being thrown around a believe entrances what's project is gonna cost about fifteen million dollars which is certainly more than you could say for a lot of other short for mobile video out there andy clippings model is subscriptions an ad revenue and that's how they're planning on monetize ing they're stored as a but it'll be interesting to see whether these dubs an ad revenue justify be amount that they're investing

"It's a suggestion by Anna Kendrick's beca to solve it by sitting down, and just being really honest with each other in a circle and emitting something personal. They've never revealed before Fawehinmi. I mean, that you guys Gobi eight me. See, I guess I'm just not really living if I'm not being one hundred percent on us. And Monroe nightmares. Fep patricia. Okay. I've never been one of those girls who had a lot of friends who were girls and I do now. And that's pretty cool. So that's me. Someone else please go Soo, Pittsburgh really is a sports movie except the competition, of course, is singing, but just like the bad news bears. You've got a bunch of misfits and loners who finally, find some, fellow kindred spirits, and they come together in pursuit of a common goal. And I think that's a real genuinely touching moment that we get from Becca as she admits the type of home. She's found with this group, and these other girls if you're curious about whether or not it gets other details of the female experience, right while I can't really necessarily comment on that credibly, but I was searching for a detail about this movie, and I came across Linda Holmes as review of pitch perfect for NPR. And I love this. She writes, is very unusual that I would notice anyone's fingernails in a movie, but I genuinely did in this case, and the reason I did is that these are a busy college girls nails. She's got a screen shot, even took the film of Anna Kendrick's hands. At one point. She says they tell a whole little tale about her. She keeps them short. She polishes them now. And then dark polish naturally after a while she's doing other things. And sometimes she picks them in glass, and she doesn't really care that much. So now, she has the broken down manicure of the actual preoccupied eighteen year old, I've had this nail polish many if not most women have had this nail polish when in college old enough to polish your nails not old enough to keep them up. That's what a great insight, definitely never noticed it. And of course, now on never look at vich perfect the same way, I still need to look at pitch perfect. I feel now like all that jazz. You don't. Hey, I'd like to this. Yeah, I know quite a bit. I know I think I would like pitch perfect someday. All right. Well, Adam ever since you had gentlemen, prefer blondes on your top five movie duets list, that was an episode seven hundred I've been meaning to watch it sounded great. This was the perfect occasion. This is the Howard hawks musical in which Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell play showgirls in pursuit of very specific men for very specific reasons. I don't think this would pass that. Test about which films don't involve the pursuit of men at all. No probably not kind of the opposite Monroe is after money rustles after sex. But as Monroe's, Laura lie explains at one point, it's not that they're opposed to love. But just that love would even better with that stuff. So why not start there, such fun? This movie is such fun. I've seen enough Marilyn Monroe to know that she's very funny. But after this, I'm always going to think of her as a comedian. I, I think it's just such a send up of her own persona also deeply embodied enough to make it utterly convincing at the same time, her dancing, not bad either as for their friendship and why this makes the list I love how competition doesn't even come into play now it really doesn't mean them. I mean, it helps of course that they're both looking for, for different types. But still instead, their relationship is defined by solidarity makes me think of book smart again. And that main relationship in the face of this society, that is judging them solo. On their looks they band together and rather than fight it. They they're going to explain it. She does. Invalid. What are you doing? Jacob passenger Easter outfit Lohman invalid still, you gene invalid. Why the sudden interest invalid when a man has an invalid after his name, his definitely worthwhile..

"There was a special on these tonight. Three for one three for one. How can that be profitable for frito lay? Maybe maybe he's the one that scared. I'll pay. Stalking. My as up to see this. But if you like that comedy, there's more of that in their this tight, man. I don't know. 'cause trailer was kind of funny. But it's really funny. But the trailer doesn't let you know, the movies smart. Yeah. Yeah. But again, that's never stopped audiences want. Come on. Man scared them off at times. Oh, you think you're smarter than? I'm baffled. Do not know why that didn't make. But all I know is that it should have been better. I even came out saying that was more. I was wrong. When I was like finally a comedy of the that is smart that it's going to be a big hidden two weeks later. We'll see we'll see what. Hopefully, somebody can tell us what what would happen with that. Let's get into number seven right here, man. This isn't really a movie that was completely ignored. But I did think it was going to be more of a success you ago. I am elite wonderful elegant person. And then. Of course, you had a split lively. Right. Yeah. And then Anna Kendrick, I think with the combination of Paul fig who people go to movies. No and Kendrick who the public knows as being more of a comedy person. I think a lot of people going in expecting to comedy. And you know, what I'm saying? Yes. Yes. And this is actually it's got comedic moments in there. But it's a it's kind of a dark. It's a dark mystery. So darn Thrilla. Yeah. You could say it's a dark comedy. But it's also mystery thriller, and that is the element that throws people off or three people off because we Paul feet. Okay. He's going to do a comedy that centered around women. That's yeah. That's what you expect. And Anna Kendrick goes. She's going to comedy, and maybe it's a musical also. Okay. And the the two leads are women. So it's gotta be a chick flick. Right. Maybe some singing, but does last pitch perfect. I don't know. We sat there not knowing what the movie was gonna be and Alamo draft house even police show. Didn't give us a clue emerging restraint was not something. I really expected the posters made. It seem like maybe. But supposedly unit. Yeah. It didn't tell you anything. Yeah. I when it completely cold not expecting aid, not only a mystery. But a smart one would really just sinister dialogue. Yeah. I don't. I don't think people hate it the movie when he saw it. I don't think that it benefited from word of mouth like a lot of the comedies of what people might have thought. This was what would have been been have benefited from. You know, I. I mean, I know they're not huge huge stars. But they are names, man. And I you know, and plus they got Asian bond. You know, I thought I really give him the job yet. I I'm ruined for him. No, man. "The new movies opening this weekend is see we've got Anna Kendrick and Blake lively in the movie that is called a simple favor. My favorite movie of the weekends such a good well-crafted movie. That's a ultimately a murder mystery. It starts off a little bit like a just a really clever girlfriend comedy, then devolves into this really smart murder mystery gave that one a dean's list. Be plush really liked. I like that movie as much as I hated predator that opened this weekend the fourth in the franchise now, I think this was just a completely overproduced mess, maybe a little nostalgic. If you grew up with the franchise, but overall they just did not do a good job. I think what this one.

"Out zoology is one of the most profitable majors you can major in this is this is what they did. They surveyed people who'd made you in various things and they found their average salary and also the unemployment rate because your average salary doesn't mean anything. If you can't get a job in zoology, majors have an unemployment rate of just one point, four percent and an average salary of one hundred eleven thousand dollars a year. But are they doing with those animals? Necessarily doing a career that evolves Walla g or was that just what they studied and then they go on to school. That just started breaking and entering. One of the reasons around a lot as Walla gist. Apparently the people who majors biology have have it all to themselves last major on the catalogs. Get to that. The gain movie theaters have to compete with all the streaming services at home. So they've tried to make their theaters super comfortable, but now employee's and certain movie theaters are worried that they've become to what? Oh. Sexually arousing. Because their bed like or whatever. I'm actually going to give it to you because that's a parent. One of the problems. The general problem is they're worried that these comfortable movie theaters are too comfortable, and people are treating them like they're at home, like people are showing up in pajamas and with a blanket movie theater employers say that, you know, people are treating it like home that they're watching a movie at home in anybody who's ever spent time alone in their own home knows how gross that can be. "The voice of anyone in the show you might choose for your voicemail. Congratulations divvy. And now the game where we ask talented people to make absolutely no use of their talents as they play our games instead, and Kendrick went from very respected and even Oscar-nominated actor to being a superstar by spending thirty seconds singing along with a plastic Cup in a scene at the beginning of pitch. Perfect. Which made that whole series of movies. Some of the most profitable musicals ever made her latest movie is a simple favor. Anna Kendrick, welcome to wait. Wait, don't tell me. Your story is well known, but you were a you're acting professionally quite young, right? Yeah. I started in theater when I was well. I started in local theater when I was like five or six. And then I did the play Anne, which is, you know, the gateway drug for all girls Peter. Then I wanted to shoot for professional shows, and my parents were gracious enough to drive me from Maine to New York City for these additions and after a while, they got tired of that. So they put me on a bus with my brother. I was twelve and he was fourteen and we got a greyhound bus, and I end for the musical high society and eventually I got that. Wow. So your your parents that we've had it. Here's a ticket call us when you're famous. Do you remember what were you Anne when you were anti in in local? No, I was Tessie who said, you know they're fighting and I won't get no sleep all night. You always remember your first one telling me that there's somebody who is probably still in this world who's walk around knowing that Anna Kendrick audition for their production of Annie. And you did not get cast as any? Yes. She's a real bitch to this day. You know what? There's relief in that because they've done a study that shows that kids who play any often become procrastinators. Jill tomorrow. Exactly. I've got away with that. I mentioned this when introduced you wanted to check it is you were doing. We're working a lot as a professional actor in films you played opposite George Clooney up in the air. It was nominated for an Oscar, but is it true that the thing that really sort of propelled you was the pitch perfect movies. I think that's true that had a really wide audience. And as you say, like, this sting really took off, which was ne-, you know, singing with a plastic Cup. And when I when everybody was dishing for that film, everybody kind of needed to sing just so that you know they, they knew that you could sing, and I knew how to do this kind of dorky thing with this Cup. And because I've seen the two girls doing it on a YouTube video, and I taught myself how to do it cause I have too much free time on my hands. And so I said, well, I mean, if I'm going to sing anyway, I could show you the thing that I can do and they put it in the movie and then it, you know, became a single and they recorded it as a full song and made a music video for it. So you know, learn Biki stuff, then you'll have a triple Peng. I realize it when we spoke earlier and I called a, you were actually at that moment watching YouTube videos, you're looking for the next big gimmick. I guess I was. That's right. Well, I was looking at skunk related videos, so. I'm not sure how that's going to help. Did you say skunk related videos? Yeah, it was. It was video of gang of stunks. What were they doing. They were stirring across the front lawn, and then they thought they heard something and they all like gathered together and put up their tails. Like almost started crying because you know, they're these reviled little creatures, but they have each other's back. Never looking out for do they arrange themselves like they're sent claimed for pointed at all direction case. A design flaw the people the the guys in the front really have it easy, but the. Pitch. Perfect. Of course, if you haven't seen it, what is wrong with you? Ladies and gentlemen, it is a movie about competitive cappella singing which is a real thing in this world has it. "Wasn't TJ day by now. It could have been four more who knows. But we're talking about Bob Woodward his book titled fear, which is both what it's about him, what it causes is already a huge bestseller despite there being no real surprises in it that makes it the perfect book club book. You can totally get away with only pretending you've read it. Oh, yeah. My favorite part is how everybody thinks the president is crazy. Woodward quotes various senior White House aide saying terrible things about the president, such as idiot, moron. He is the mental capacity of a fifth grader, which if you're listening Mr President is the grade the sun, you forgot about recently finished. Wait a minute. You may go, ooh, but the president's gonna go. You the a chance to read it yet, but you you've heard about it, I assume. Yeah, I think one of the things that's eliminating about the book is that I haven't read is that is that like it shows the shortcomings of the English language in that we don't have enough ways to call someone in idiots. Is it funny Peter? I don't know. I only got my copyright. No, Bob, I'm guessing he's he's a bit down. Yeah, he is a little bit dour and he's not anything like Dutton Hofmann or Robert. Robert, especially not like Robert Redford. Carl Bernstein. I know Karl for way back. He's quite a bit like dust and all that was good. Coconut played himself, but but Bob, not so much. Now, what's interesting of course is now that the book is come out. Everybody is denying the things they are quoted as saying in the book, but Woodward is notorious for recording everything. So people are being very careful. These are non denial denial. So Gary Cohn, for example, told Woodward. He stole key documents from Trump's desk said, quote, this book does not accurately portray my experience at the White House, unquote. Yeah, he didn't so much steal the documents as removed them secretly when Trump was looking and It's not. not so much that desk is the president's wooden napping surface. And former secretary of state Tillerson is quoted as calling the president, an effing moron. He, of course, says that's not true. I used the whole word. What was interesting I think about this. Maybe you can say so PJ, but the book was such a departure for Woodward. We remember for example, in all the president's men, he had to go to parking garages to meet with secret sources, and this one people were calling him cold Mr. Woodward. Woodward. Yes, it's it's Milania with an m. All right, Heather, you're next quote is actually a series of headlines from a collection. We saw this week a sh- mayor campaign in New York and locks her up that was the Wall Street Journal and Canada's national post respectively. Reacting to someone ordering the wrong kind of bagel, and thus perhaps ending her quest to be governor of New York. Who was it? Nick. Nick, Cynthia Nixon. It doesn't sound bad, sweet and salty it. I think it sounds delicious. Just not four fully explain how wrong you are. We need to let everybody else know what we're talking. There's that the actress. Cynthia Nixon, of course, famous from sex and the city has been running an insurgent campaign against the governor of New York. "I saw that I saw that clip and up because Anna Kendrick, she's doing her cute little comedian thing making a little faces. In Blake, lively is asking these risk questions, and I, I thought that this was going to be a romantic comedy, right? Yeah. Is it going to be a romantic? Comedy is a buddy film? Don't don't know. And I gotta be honest. It was twenty minutes into it. Maybe thirty minutes before I was like, I still don't know what kind of movie this is going to turn out to be. Okay. Let me ask. Was that a good thing? Bad thing. It was. It was definitely a good thing. Yeah, I thought I thought it was an excellent thing. I was like, yeah, this is me not knowing what what is coming up and I liked that it starts out. It just seems like a very stylish low dark comedy. And even kind of light on the comedy lighthearted, but a little a little edgy because blue because Blake lively, lively character she. So she's nothing but edge. Oh yeah. And then the contrast between her and Anna Kendrick, where she's the the little nervous homemaker who who was insecure and rather than going, wow, a no person be like, man, you a shitty person. I don't wanna do what you, but she's so insecure. She wants to please hang out with. Oh yeah. No, she's so insecure and she's in. She's so into being a mom. She's she's almost mom. Motherhood has made her sheltered. Yeah, and sheltered the point where she's craving, adult companionship when people who are who aren't making fun of her because she's got shitty freelanced. Another people she goes to school for she is the most helpful woman and they make fun of her just football in tearing. Right. Oh, you bake brownies and who the fuck are you can. I don't volunteer for everything. Leave some for somebody else. Yeah. No, they don't really want to do. So she's looking for companionship, but I. Again, like Mearns I didn't know what was going on. I really think it had all the elements. Like I say, Anna Kendrick, you know, the people are cracking jokes at the beginning. Got you. Boy, Henry Golding in here from crazy, rich Asians, the left asphalt, white girl. You know what's gonna happen to you got a craze, rich white. Didn't take long. Divorced, got the money got a blonde now, but I saw him in. We just saw him in crazy, rich agencies. Look, I'm gonna call him, but he he's pretty much Asian. JAMES BOND blow it up. He's blowing up, man. I love this dude in. So I thought, yeah, this is. I didn't think I was going to go in being prepared for a mystery thriller. I, the more went on, I thought, okay. Maybe it's going to be like a a little twisted sex comedy or something. Yeah, and I got. I got to tell you man the the the mystery here. That's what really works. Good. Mystery is gonna. Have you ask him questions? Really? You really going to be confused. You're going to be because there are moments where Anna Kendrick walks into a room, fuck. And you'll like winner you like, yeah, what the fuck is going on here. It's almost scary at some point stomach things that are happening. Well, one of the things that I think makes it scary and really throws it off is that there's been a murder and you don't know who committed it like. And one of those suspects is your main character? Yeah, because the whole town like I don't. I'm not sure who who, who is it? Who's playing who in there? Yeah. How can this happen are? Is there murder? You don't even know. I mean, there are a lot of things here. I was say, Papa fake who has done comedies. I'm not giving. I'm not greatness on a curb, but for God who's done comedies. He really did do a great job at keeping up the guesswork here. I mean the whole time that you watch in this you. I mean, look, it's typical of course of thrillers to have all kinds of twists and turns in there. Sometimes those things spill disingenuously of predictable almost for something that's trying to fool..

"The other new movie is a simple favor in this caught your attention with Anna Kendrick on big fan of antics as single mommy who has a video log and becomes fascinated with Blake, lively, and I am fan of Blake lively. She reminds me of the young Joan Crawford. No sure. She is. She is. And she is this tough mom who's ultra rich and suddenly disappears. And so Anna decides to find out what's happened. And it's very interesting to watch. I like Anna Kendrick a lot. She's kind of of channeling, Tina Fey in this and Blake lively, you know is very interesting. The opposite of lady Gaga, bright, Blake, lively is just so beautiful to watch on screen right the, you know, in that traditional way. And for the end, the last act is turns into gone girl. Yeah, that's sort of what I was hearing about. This is it is the journey worth it though for you? You know, I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy it. I enjoyed it, I, but then by the time they get to the end of we're all kind of tired and they're trying to wrap it up and the end kind of fizzles out. Yeah, that's that's this appointing. So I'm mixed. I'm mixed on. I'm more I'm more positively mixed on a simple favor than I will white boy, Rick. I just was I just felt like wasted my time.

So yeah, we're really excited about this podcast, Ellen Nastase if we were willing to do it and we said, sure and asked her how much we'd get paid for it. And she said nothing. And so here we are. Anyway, we're very excited about it and hopefully you'll be listening to us every Tuesday and Thursday where we're going to give you some of the clips that we really loved from the past week show and also give you some behind the scenes of how harsh, oh, gets made every day. Nicki Menaj over her album drop over her Queen radio. She was trending on Twitter and we said, any chance we can get Nikki for our premier and she showed up what I will tell you about Nikki Manashe is that Nikki Manashe does not disappoint. I'm not sure if this is a, this is a easy thing for these guys that to to accommodate or or not, but you enjoy exercising three times a day. Well, I would set what you say. Yes. It depends if you have someone that you don't see on a regular basis, it's not like if you living with the person that you see them every night. But if you see them, you know, like once twice a week and yeah, three times a night when I see you three times a night. Okay. And if you can't hang goodbye..
