"That's Zoa Z. U.. A. N. T. DOT COM all right back to Jim in his fascinating winning. Look into his crystal ball at the ever changing world of marketing the question is the argument is marketing now owns the pipeline. Is that the case hey I just came back and Exhibitor Show in Las Vegas. The raft dozen companies on the show floor just talking about managing sales leads but there are a a lot of sessions at the Exhibitor Show Speaks About Marketing R._O._I.. How you can prove how you can measure the trade shows two years ago? There wasn't squat there to speak did a couple of one what we did with vicar pepys over Balladur at also did another one in the morning with Matt Hill of the Hill Group at how to train people how to get the most out of your trade shows but it's interesting when I looked program they're all these sessions on marketing are oh I now that's because trade show leads or some of the best qualified leads you can create who creates those exhibits man exhibits managers most powerful person in most companies they create the most qualified leads the qualified leads always turn into sales at a greater level. I contend them. The exhibits managers pound for pound create more revenue the company that anybody else author marketing person. They're not a sales person. The sales people close I've been in sales for years managed salespeople for twenty five years but they're losing power without the marketing departments today being driven by marketing automation telemarketing scraping the Internet prospects before they even raise their hands using artificial intelligence to figure out what people want and where they're going sales is turning into the closer and that's about it in many industries. What do you think Paul? Let me ask if that's true. That's a shocking rocking turnabout from my days back in marketing and I don't doubt it is because again we've got more data and more ability than more demand to connect with the customer through everything. So how do we figure out what's working and what's not we need data. We need information attention all of that scene as you're saying the growth of the marketing wing my question is what are the sales people doing are they just are they just surrendering. Are they accepting this new role as the closer because it's just easier <hes> or are they fighting back and saying. <music> let us be part of the process and if so how they don't have much to fight back on flex two or three years most of the reports coming out of the industry said there's fewer and fewer outside sales reps being higher these route sales people and people go out see people a lot of those jobs jobs are shifting are because of marketing travel expenses to inside sales positions and then inside sales departments have been reported as growing year by year so people are putting on more people to qualify inbound calls qualify inquiries sued the demonstrations that sales people used to do now the systems engineers that get on the phone to go ahead and and help the prospect make a decision and find with the sales people who are supposed to control this and that inside -Ly salespeople are still involved in customer marketing but Muktar that inside sales of departments are really mark inside marketing department are they under the are they under the oversight of the marketing people are they being managed by the marketing chief marketing officer still the sales manager. That's marketing is still a sales as manager is managing all this but he's got he or she's got fewer and fewer outside sales people depending on the company so many of these roles are shifting to the inside departments now certainly sales managers might control inside sales departments but most of I'm don't want to they've got somebody else that controls it because these people ask for too much attention they get too much. Rejection is very difficult to manage them. Versus outside sales people so often just because of the them giving up those departments are often managed by marketing doing people as soon as they give that up they'd given up authority and given a power doesn't mean they don't have still have jobs. They're still not accountable but it's not what it used. It's a different personality. Though isn't it to do an inside sales job to be on an order desks to be on a sit in a cubicle and take calls all day long it is to go out and visit customers and wine and dine them and then handle their needs. Yeah the inside people are totally different talents or one hundred percent dipper Paul they could be sitting there with a full beard m a t shirt and be making sales. Oh that's what you look like exactly but they can be sitting there and nobody cares what they look like. They just care about their voice and how much information they have to impart. Can they do the demo. Can they answer all customers questions and so sales is continuing to be under pressure is marketing has gaining it continues to gain influence in influences driven. I contend by the marketing automation artificial intelligence the rise of the database marketer yeah yeah and big data in general. We're going to have more data better customers than we ever had before. I don't know what we're GONNA do with all but we're going to much more about much more predictive analysis of what is likely to influence them based on the data we collect in their past behavior roller. Get some of the people we'll be pat on the radio programs from the last six months. We've had some really interesting people Laura Patterson President of Vision Edge Marketing Yeah really bright really look that those databases Marianne Vanilla Bonilla grew telemarketing qualified leads the only takes on certain clients. She's very very careful what she does take a look at <hes> Jila Conrad. She's going to be on the radio program with Matt Hinde in a couple of hours <hes> role Morgan. She's at a demand generation company. It's a marketing company. It's a demand generation in company out Katie bullard chief growth officer discover or DOT COM big database company fascinating if you haven't heard Jill before I've heard on some of your shows over the past few years fascinating discussion she really thinks it's all about if I'm not mistaken social social selling it's all about how do you engage with their customer way when they're just sniffing around. How do you get 'em how to get them to believe that you're the best and you've got the answers in the solution and for them to start a dialogue and conversation with? The kind of thing no sales person ever WANNA DO I don't want to just so big part of it. Yeah you mentioned database back in December. We had Anna Fisher on head of lead generation Zoom Info down so there are a lot like a discovered in and that they have huge databases the company's customers by the databases they guarantee the accuracy of the databases and they run marketing programs that creates the sales. It's really a it's a change market and I believe that marketing team management is in the most powerful position they've been in since the nineteen twenties while which is nearly one hundred years slayer in the most powerful position and B. to B. Marketing and beat AC- marketing because they are controlling so much of the pipeline well again to go back to Matt's analogy which I love the people I met in the eighties and nineties. It's hard to believe as long ago at the eighties and nineties when I was doing marketing for companies here they were creative types. They are AD agency types. They were P._R.. Types they were people who were imaginative imaginative and creative and they came up with a clever ideas to get people to notice a product and to show interest in it. They were not the people who were analytical and data driven so I would suspect are they're still creative. People people in the marketing great creative directors at agencies. You've got great creative directors direct marketing companies which are doing well believe it or not and you also have a different kind of marketer who's both creative and they're also math market now like Matt Nice. I think Matt Matt high-seas example. He talked about both sides of the brain. You have to use at Yep. They're using the numbers they look at the number of total number of enquiries qualified leagues what turns in two Demos what turns into the final presentations -tations and the marketers today are interested in all those numbers versus before they just set ulcers. I'm interested in the top of the phone. I don't care what goes on and then he complained bitterly. What goes on all the way through the rest of the funnel? It's really quite interesting eating how they back away from things full of a Oh a couple of days ago I had <hes> I had a blog up on the ACELA may website to salesperson didn't do it is just a marketing shoes and marketing used to say well my programs a great our job so sales people aren't doing our job and I used to use that mantra constantly where I was a consultant but the reality is today. It's the marketers that are doing a follow up the marketers that are doing doing the job so they got no one to blame but themselves selves if their leads aren't turning into revenue there now held more closely accountable for the quality of the leads not just the quantity of the leads. I said in the blog entry it's marketings role today to go beyond just filling the top the sales funnel the role has changed Phil and end managed it most of the into the funnel until the prospect show from their actions and responses that they are in the buyers zone mazing. It's getting into the fire zone. The sales people have have to take it down have to take control of that last stepper too. Will they ever take the whole process many are already and where it used to be the head of sales and marketing pretty soon. You'RE GONNA see a lot of titles that reverted the head of marketing and sales else and it's going to be a little uh-huh market thought I know we've run out of time today. Paul thanks a lot for stepping in as always you've got deep marketing knowledge. It's amazing I. I really believe you're onto something. The two roles are the two halves of the puzzle are shifting in power and they're going to shift often titles. It'll be the director of marketing and sales so I think we've I think we've answered that question today. I think marketing now owns the pipeline. All let's hear from rooted in revenue our next program thank you offer your your thoughts and then Kony thoughts today deep analysis and thanks for your employees really paid for you to be the owner of that Irish borrowed it sure our always willing to listen to cross. That's right exactly.

"Show. I'm Bob SIMS thanks for tuning in this morning. Well, one thing we have no shortage of up in the mountains is water. Of course with all the record snowpacks the runoff is really cook and right now I mean, it's really cooking the one of the reasons it's so late, is it started in may when it usually starts. But then we had what was it like to two and a half weeks of real cool weather cool weather here in valley cold weather up in the mountains that kind of just put everything in check intil about a week ago? And then here we go. And you know last week, I, I heard about how high rivers like the Walker and the Carson river was in a Yuba rivers and all that. And saw for myself both to north fork, and middle fork, the American rivers. And they were cooking. And then all of a sudden, there was more water. Now them here's what happened with the American rivers. Now there's a little bit less water. Well, if you think about it. The elevations were these rivers originate is not as high as we're like the east fork of the Carson, and both forks of the Walker river originate, they I mean you add about another three or four thousand feet to the height of that brand new so. We might have been were we might be passed the peak in some areas. North of say the highway fifty line. But we haven't reached a peak south of the highway fifty line. Least that not as of last night was really cooking. Talk to people in the antelope valley on the on the west Walker. And I said, well, house over now they say it's higher. So it's really ridge and down at the, the, the car schmor- of the east Carson, it has come up over last week. But there's still a little lights at the. In some of these areas, most of them have to do with legs so not streams. So if you're gonna Fisher stream anywhere in California be aware that is going to be higher than it. Normally is for this period of time mid June. Okay. Just going to be higher so down south going to be real hard. Well, we, we, we are going to receive the benefits from that later on, because the dog days of summer white won't be probably quite so doggy, if you know what I mean, because we'll still have snow run off in August from some, some of the higher peaks down south anyway. The springs all over the state by goodness. They've got to be filled up to capacity, so they're going to be running anyway. The whole thing is good for later on or not exactly for right now, so, well, the fish and game commission meeting was held up in reading and the commissioners voted to have this new water policy plan, presented before the public in on the meeting August. Seventh in Sacramento. I will tell you this. If you don't show up for that meeting. There's a very good chance. They're going to pass a new fisheries statute for the delta that was written, mostly by the water people that will take away the protections for striped bass and black bats. The whole thing is a fiasco. It is politics at its worst. And this is because the commissioners are appointed which is just ridiculous. I mean we all know what the electoral college is. It's it was designed bar Abihu, our, our founding fathers. So that a few areas with all the population won't control the whole country because there's different. I mean, they're cities there's rule areas. Okay. We can't have Kev, have it one way. No, no people like Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein. And I don't mean to be just political because they keep saying we need to do away with it. You wanna know why do away with it because people in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and New York, it's cetera will control everything that happens in this country and leave the heartland. Done for basically. So why not the same principle for the fish and game? Commissioners now, you have five commissioners, and generally, they represent who appointed him which is a previous governor. So that's what they're trying to do. Good for where, you know, Brown and his water interest. I'm just saying it's not going to be a fair shake. It could even get crooked water interests are known to bribe people that would be a shame. So anyway, we're not getting even representation throughout this state in matters like this. So all the more important that you attend. If you care about stripe bathroom black bass, you better be down at that meeting at the resources building on August seventh, and we'll hear more about that upcoming in the main town. Got some reports from the east side, including the market area with one bright spot, and that's Indian creek reservoir. Is loaded with fish and they're you know, they're averaging probably two to three pounds out of there with several bigger fish taken, and there's news about approximately, when they're going to plant, and where they're going to plant, so we'll get a little report on that down in the Bridgeport area will one of the rivers is raging, and that's the west fork, the Walker the other goes into Bridgeport reservoir, and the reservoir is fishing, pretty good. But the releasing a lot of water out of a reservoir to, to the very famous east fork of the Walker river, which is, of course, a trophy, trout stream, and that's almost unfixable, so the reservoir is it for the Walker river. Whatever the Walker river does there. But they are catching some pretty nicely. I think they got an eight or nine pound rainbow in there this past week, we'll get a report there. But you know, we also covered. Twin lakes and just in the last couple of days. Big virginia. I doubt and I think little Virginia did the same and they put a bunch of fish, but that was just too early to get a report by last night. So this was all just a day or two old. So that's good. That's those areas will be open for fishing. Places like lick almanac has been good all year. And Brian Ricucci has spent more than an average amount of time there. Why? Because he's catching a lot of big rainbows. That's why and a few Browns and a few what they think are like four year old salmon. These are like five and six pounds salmon kings and almanac. Problem is they don't think as a whole lot of them. But you picking up on bought every other trip. That's nice nice. I salmon. Davis lake is slowly, but surely coming along you go in you put in your time you're going to catch fish in the beauty of it is, is, there's a lot of quality fish being caught. But just yesterday I think it was yesterday. The department official wildlife made a plan. I think they put in eight thousand and they were to to the pound. So there's some nice thirteen inch fourteen inch fish in that group makes it a good for everybody. So now you're going to have a combination that you're going to be kept busy on Davis leg with a lot of fishing. Some of those will be very nice eighteen to twenty one inch rainbows. Coconut will coca news in the in the news all over the place this week. It's berry Esa. You know, we, we went for the longest time and just couldn't get a handle on Barry. Now, all of a sudden, it's Goto place because they're catching fish up to seventeen inches, but here's the key, a lot of the Fisher catching, like a third of the limits might be close to sixteen inches, now, that's good quality fish. So anyway, we'll get a report Dern fat, Gary coz on his way over there right now. And if he can catch any fish. He'll tell us about it around seven thirty also I didn't interview with Allen Fong of fishermen's warehouse. He was over there. Of course he's a good fisherman. And he gave us techniques on on how he caught him over there. Up at stampede reservoir. We get into the summer it gets hot stampede is at six thousand feet. They have great camp grounds up there Trillium, nice place to be, especially when the fishing is good. And, and the fishing is good now and is a lot of fourteen inch fish and rarely are you going to get one fifteen or sixteen inches? But they're they're and they're growing. So Anna Fisher healthy like they are everywhere. We'll also hear about the coca need derby last week up at whiskey town, absolutely phenomenal. After all, these are real news reports about how the fish didn't survive anyway. They survived. Believe me, and we'll get a report finally caught anti-gay board as he was guiding out in his drift boat, late yesterday afternoon on the American river and they were catching Shad. It has just been a crazy year for shot with numbers of fish, and in the last week, the river has gone from thirteen thousand cubic feet per second, which is very high for Shad fishing down to eight thousand feet per second expected to go down even further this week, Bank fishermen or already catching fish. This is the beginning of the Shad fishing for them. We'll also hear of course, from Andy Giuliano in just a few minutes, berry in just a minute. Rob Rymer has been catching king salmon in or Ville, Don pagan, Nellie down on ovarian windy, delta. And as I mentioned, Gary co will be calling for Barry. Yes. All that, and more coming up in the next two hours and Forty-five minutes on the cave became outdoor show. Thanks for being here..
