The you are being signed by the douche bags of trash bags of makola. He's coming out essentially telling business putting out that they wh-what what am used as story. "Of the series. So so here's this this sheriff and he has a basically a murder suspect who is supposed to be executed. He can't do it. So you know the call on the marshals and then the marshal calls in another Marshall who calls in somebody else and eventually there's just this this clown car of where animals entering this town like all of a sudden the population has tripled because all of her friends that have showed up to help her out well, the collision boy yet. I'm being a little funny about it made sense and it was a lot of fun to introduce all the different all that different character dynamic. It's an especially important when it gets to the point when she's you know communicating with Olaf. About her sexual desires with a lot of her other partners I wanna talk about that scene. My point is there was a lot of there was a lot of introduction of characters that I wanted to know more about and I feel I did not feel any emotional attachment to because they didn't have a lot to do well, not in this burke began. That's kind of like I think the idea and I hope the idea is that they caught your attention and you want to know more they were just. They had something to do in this story, but they like a lot of the. Characters Anita's life are not a huge part of this particular story to be told I. Appreciate. Something that Laurel said in our interview about the cares wanting to be on stage and her basically having to tell him no, tell me no, this is not your time. There's not enough room in the car. There's so many points in this book as soon as she said, I realized where they have to be driving A. Car Only, so many people can fit in the car or duke says, Hey, they do not have badges they are not police they cannot be involved in this investigation. They can't be in this scene and I thought that was really smart. It was almost late in hindsight very funny. It's almost like Duke was helping her control, all these characters and their Luke Duke is an interesting. He is a bit of a bigot. But at the same time, a was able to have empathy for him which I appreciate. This is a really cool way that she wrote him like that I, like to Duke a lot because there are definitely a lot of points when you just really dislike him. Off So bad. But I actually do believe just like Anita kind of suspected that we not seeing him on his best day I think so too and that's always important and an exercise in compassion for us all. About the situations we meet people in. So I do kind of like I, want to kind of jump to that like a little bit of the relationship stuff. So off is one of my favorite characters in this series another sociopath sociopath, he's not he's not dead but I. Know Edward Ed. Ted Yeah you know you're in the spoiler section. So you know what we're talking about but. He is fascinating and I love that he is a fan favorite because I mean I. He's so bad and problematic and not a good person, and now he's also part lion. But I find him on ending Lee Fascinating and I just love reading the books where he shows up in it but I mean for girl like me that's not too surprising. But I love that all these other fans are like more of and she's like, okay. It's interesting to me the way that he was introduced in this book because I really disliked him from the very beginning and I was your of him from the very beginning, oh. Yeah and I still don't know how I feel about where I feel like their relationship is going because he seems even though he's trying so hard and apparently his word truly is that good yes he's so. I don't WanNa say evil because the the hard part about him is because he does not have the capability of having those like seeing the moral the he doesn't have empathy for other people. He doesn't have that capability so I. Of Not really a term that fits him. Here's the thing is sometimes sometimes in books, children sometimes in books, people, characters, situations are problematic. They're weird they're troubling. There's something that you would not engage in or promote in real life and everybody has to find their comfort level with characters and plots in situations like that for me I know all those things about Olaf and I still really adore reading about the character and I'm just kinda strapped in and down for the ride of wherever it takes us but it's Important to remember is sometimes you have to suspend the disbelief certain and and enjoy the ride, and just because there is a lot of like in this novels a great example, there's a lot of wonderful high points of morality and ethics doesn't mean that everything has to be perfectly clean cut. Am I making sounds like with what I'm saying I do relationships emotions are messy. Yeah and nothing is perfect and he is far from perfect. He is very, very far from perfect but is Magnetic. He's interesting Oh definitely, and attraction is obvious and now we have this side to his character since he's become a lion where he has something that he can give a Nieta that is beneficial and that doesn't mean that like all the sudden it's like, wow, all off all your sins are forgiven like and I don't think that anybody has painted it. That way everybody is really aware of how problematic he is. But again, this is not a situation that anybody's ever going to run into in real life. So it's okay. It's okay to have a little bit of of time with it and enjoy the journey at the ending of the book when it's clear that he is he's killed Jocelyn. I. Oh well, okay. He he does care about something. He does actually have a sense of justice and then.

"You I guess I could say I mean. So obviously, she's been writing these books for more than twenty five years. This is the twenty seventh novel in the Series Laurel K Hamilton is a bestselling writer, New York Times Bestseller. People all over the world. Love Love love these books and have for very long time I. See a lot of myself in the character of Anita lot of ways were super. But in a lot of ways were really the same I've always appreciated that she was an assertive strong female that spoke her mind that she was very capable as the books have gone. On in the series of gone on, she's opened up a lot and she's more vulnerable and she's embraced her insecurity. She's embracing her mental health really really incredible stuff. She's found love as she's found love with multiple people. Her character is poly-amorous, which is really cool. You don't get to see that a lot I. it's not common books to see that that viewpoint no and. She is in love with people who are not. You know fully human there where people like him thrope. Big. Word. I cannot say empires were wills. On all that stuff and I. I'm not poly-amorous Scott's poly-amorous. We don't know enough to say that like Oh this is just the most wonderful representation of polly emery but I like the way it is depicted in these books. It makes me feel a lot of love for these characters and I want them to be happy and be happy with each other and I think that's what really matters at the end of the day. Right? I agree yeah, I. Think you know coming into this fresh I knew some stuff about the series. Because of you and then going into this book, I did spend a little bit of time on Wikipedia kind of catch up on exactly who these characters were. Yeah. But not a lot of time on that and I I have to say wikipedia doesn't do her relationships justice when you read the Quick Synopsis, Synopsis Sees No any wicky you find out there. It's like it'll be good to Kinda like give you a crash course. Yes. Yeah. But you know wikipedia makes it sound kind of Harem Ish. And there is a bit of a fun level of Hamish of Harem this this in it, but it's not it's not the the complete harem fantasy that the wick the wikipedia kind of makes it sound like it actually is very sweet and the characters are very honest and open and trust each other and I think that that's really really powerful to see and it's it's it's nice. Yes. Very very cool and as the series has gone on. Anita has you know collected all these people and characters in her life and enemies, and she's developed other sorts of powers as time has gone on one it's really really interesting is called the door which is kind of hard to describe. But for the most part have been found only in vampires until Anita kind of developed, it caught it I don't know what exactly to say but it's A sexual power that allows her to feed from other supernatural creatures and humans, and of course, that's going to make her relationships and the you know kind of sexual erotic scenes way more interesting frankly. And supernatural I'm not a huge romance reader as you guys have probably noticed even when like I mean it's not really one of our Jonah's that we focus on here John Junkies and so I'm Kinda like picky about my romance that I like but I like the way Laurel K and her characters handled their romance. It's it's fun Romp Times. But make no mistake a lot of the books including Sucker Punch really really focus on the mystery, the fantasy, the horror, the creepy nece at May I just say to these books have gotten even funnier time have gone on I just I. Love How much of her sense of humor she's putting into these books fantastic. Yeah. So Anita job is a martial she's a she's a supernatural Marshall. Now I don't know if I even said that there's so much to recap. Well, let me say this because I am not as privy to all of the changes that have happened but this book does a really good job of catching you up without it being a whole bunch of exposition. You know she talks about her her history is being originally one of the vampire hunters and being one of the four horsemen and how things have changed, and now she's her job is I guess quote unquote a little bit more legitimate. Yeah. It's a little bit more of like a like a really A. Government arm, but it's you know I. Think I. Want to say this because I have read none of the other books if you're interested in this at all by all means, you can start at number one, but don't be afraid to go ahead and jump in at at Sucker Punch I, think that this book stands R- up really well on its own and like how rare is that in a series this in depth there's like sway shorter series where you can't do that. So it's actually really inclusive and cool that she writes her book that way and we talk about it in the interview we do. So I WANNA, talk about my experience with this with the book. This was an absolute page Turner from me Injury Really Long Book. Like it's almost six hundred pages in its hardcover edition, which for me is is an epic novel. While at first looking at it I was I was. Ethical intimidated blew I blew through this book guys it is such a fun fast paced read and it's that kind of fast paced where you know when you're reading a book and you just you're you're just devouring it ends and you're like I want I want like two hundred more pages of this. This gives it to you and it doesn't really ever let up and I really I was really impressed and surprised by that. I think. That is so cool to hear. You say that for me, this was absolutely a page turner solid solid page Turner, and I was super happy with it. It's wonderful to get to see old friends, which is what it's like when you have been with the series for so long is these are old friends of yours and my favorite character in the Book Edward He's Imas Book. So that was like, yes, I was super stoked to see him. Yes. She does a great job of giving you a lot of back story but like what's relevant like is there are lots of characters and lots of moving pieces in the series. So it's like okay and another book that has more these folks in it should give you a little bit more.

"Apologize for the little crackle with the connection we tried. We tried a couple of different times and just couldn't get. Couldn't get it quite right, but I think it was still worth worth. Elicit and appreciate everybody for then we'll have the new song parody here. Coming up in a second very excited to debut debut. That God I can't remember the last time I, did a song parody I remember did the twelve days of horse player. Christmas, once that was the coup fall and but fun. We're having fun here on the show. It's what we're trying to do. you can always email me if you wanna contact me. Jason Charles, Be Mitch. Mitch Email Dot Com. I was a good way to get a hold of me in the program tomorrow. In addition to match you joining us and talking a little century, mile I'M GONNA. Look at the opening day card at Emerald downs. Right there opening on Wednesday June the twenty fourth. Yeah, get my days all turnaround here, but my hometown tracks, so I wanNA give Emerald a little bit of love on their opening day and they're going to run Wednesdays I believe it to fifteen. I don't know. Maybe it's Wednesdays at. God, what is it? It's Wednesdays to fifteen and Thursdays at five I know they're on different times on the two days I forget which one is which but. Yeah. That's so they'll. Them Grants Pass I. Think we're trying to work together on Wednesdays Emerald kind of go. I Jump at four, so that way. The northwest kind of has track representation for the first few hours of the the Wednesday for that for the first few hours, but for all of the afternoon hours on Wednesday and then they will have the spotlight to themselves. Thursday afternoon I. Think There's new might be a good spot for him. Right now every tract that does not allow live attendance, which is most of them. You know everybody's Kinda gotta find their little niche where it's not too crowded, but where there's enough stuff going on that people are going to be jumping in on other. On other tracks if they're know if you're. If you're watching something, you might fire away. The one or two of the other tracks that are going on so. anyways, let's let's do the apparently. This'll be fun. Hope you guys enjoyed. It's to the classic Highwayman Song. This is a race horse racing. I didn't really think of a name for horseracing highway man. I was a trade. I worked every day of my life. At the barn at four forty five. I'm married a paddock host dislike. Every good trainer did. I'll spotted horses where I thought that they win. But, then Navarro's horses would run me off my feeds. But at least I'd never cheese. I was jacking. I wrote at every track across the land. Three inches. Did I stand? I got yelled at if I went too far to the outside. The trainers would fire me after a single boxed in ride. The twitter chose scream at me every day online. Me and my agent doing fine. I was the track announcer? On the rooftop reside. In cranston behind humorous by side. Everyone at the track thought I was overpaid. Gambled away most every dollar that I made. Sure that some I'll get replaced by tracks machine. But until that I will scream. I will scream again again again. Was a player. I comb the DR F. Each day. There wasn't a carryover. I wouldn't play. Many bad beats. Story beats in on the wire. All of my front runners inevitably would tire. I go ten, but get the favorite every time. But my pick four is alive. Just gotTa beat this three to five three two. Three two. All right there. You go new song parody. Let me know if you like that or not like that. I can't certainly stopped doing. It's not something I do very often i. just had a little. A little moment of inspiration thought it'd be kind of fun to do, but hope you guys enjoyed that. Last thing was looking at Santa Anita wrapping up I saw somebody tweet that there was no on-track fatalities or no, during racing tallies during the Santa. Anita winter spring me with so is fantastic. Obviously that was made a big priority. After the debacle of two thousand eighteen into nineteen. There was an article Steve Anderson. On. Yesterday that said Santa Anita kind of hasn't fully determined when they will reopen right now I think the schedule reopening date of September eleventh, but said they might move it back to September. Eighteenth or twenty fifth kind of depending on when del Mar ends, and stuff and low sowell had previously occupied a spot in that time zone, but Santa Anita. Wanted you know all of the fall racing, and obviously the concern is horse population. And what have you and I mean I am very much not against some short breaks on some of these. You know some of these bigger circuits that are year round like. I would rather have two or three week. Break between Santa Anita and del Mar or a two week break in the middle of Santa Anita to help kind of replenish. If it means the difference between seven and a half starters race eight starters race. To me than than it's worth. It I know a lot of the trainers in horsemen and stuff. Probably don't want that and the day money. Folks probably don't want that, but. You know it's when they first came back from the pandemic. It was like week one it was. Four fields jacked, and it was awesome, and then very quickly went awry and I just I. Don't know if it's a situation where I mean. Of course, there's less horses we we known. That was coming like everybody should be prepared for that because the full crops are lower like we've known that. But you know there's things that you're GonNa, do and you know I? Don't know if the horsemen just aren't running as much anymore. I mean clearly. That's the case with a lot of top end horses, but. It's. It's a frustrating part of the puzzle that we of course should have addressed years ago and didn't, but that's that's what we do horseracing. anyways, let's let's end on that sour note and again we'll be back tomorrow and talk some century mile talk a little emerald downs on our Wednesday show big thanks to Ramon Dominguez for joining us and we'll see you guys back here tomorrow..

"In our next guest. WHO's a great one winning trainer currently based in Southern California? Very pleased to welcome. Gary Mandella to the show, Gary, how are you? I'm well, thank you, Jason! Me On I appreciate you joining us I know. The Barn is had a win and a couple of seconds since racing resumed in southern California, imagine it was nice to to get a few on the board after the Long lay-off. Yeah certainly was Know, the artist part of the was the uncertainty. Yeah, knowing what was going to happen, not knowing when it was going to start. All of those sorts of things so you know to get racing back was was terrific and DAB horses. Firing right off. The Bat certainly helps. I was talking with Michelle level from Churchill last weekend, and she said that she kind of described changing upper training a little bit. They kind of went to an open farm. They weren't doing breezes and stuff like that now. I know Santa Anita kind of had an uncertain when racing would resume date. How how did you handle the the lay offs and stuff from a training perspective? You know none of my owners or my father's honors. To turn horses out and give them a break. but I knew a lot of changes that have their own say exactly that, and said it very quickly when racing stops at hey, let's kick them out a break. We'll start back maybe. Going towards the fall Without knowing what's going on, just can't. Keep paying full trading bills without any idea of when they'd run and be able to try to pay for themselves I I heard a number of those stories, and to be honest with you. Something that's supposed around the Internet since you're such a big internet, guys, you know the first weekend we got back to racing. It was almost ten horses in every race needed, but now especially coming into this week and you've seen the field size short. And that's a bigger part of the explanation for that. Then people realized there were a lot of that got turned out because as you know working with my own horses as well as helping my father with his, he had through that you still get a little injury here and there wanted to kick them out. None of the farms had any space. Oh, wow, because they had filled up so quickly, and and and part of that is also we have a lot fewer farms that operate in those capacities when we used to as well. Partly because of the horse shortage in California some guys have retired out of business value of those places out in the Hammock Riverside. Temecula area has gone through the roof, and so a lot of people were able to just sell their properties for a lot of money and move elsewhere, so it's kind of a complicated. Situation. but yeah. All of those funds were completely full up until just a couple of weeks ago, and and it wasn't easy to to play something that popped a little splinter had a little. Shannon needed to be backed off limits. Without getting into specific numbers like what's the difference for turning a horse out versus full training I mean is. Is it literally ten percent twenty percent of the cost or I mean I would assume it's significantly less. It depends on what you're doing. It can be as much as fifty percent less if you're truly turning a horse out putting them on a little bit of grass or You know outside turn out and things like that without any. Therapy or anything specific going on. and there's a lot of places where you can do just that. Just let a horse the horse for thirty days there's other places like my. My father's made Julia Stack a little bit famous, because that's where beholder would go when she need a little mental break from racing, and and you've seen the videos on the Internet jewelry happened, earn a Western saddle, and then her dumping her head and big water trough, and splash it all around, and then and then and. The point being Julie will ride those horses, and so I if you're gonNA, ride them all. They're turned out. That costs a little bit extra. And there's a newer place in California. That is the old pulse in ranch. That's across the street from. Seminary Ray downs wasn't affected by the fires at all. Just in case, anybody was curious, but it's literally a block away, and I shouldn't say ranch. That's a legitimate dacre form that the pulse had is. That Cardi. Moody purchased for them. And the edge of that property that sits closest family ray downs with the training site has seven eighths track a bunch of Barnes and turn outs, and she leases it to a couple that run a surgery site in the hospital in the area. The horses and they're doing some more advanced sports therapy. And that's closer to what humans do, and because there's all that involved. If you send a horse and they go through that sorta program to Rehab an injury. That can be like eighty ninety percent of training rate, because those those machines and therapies that do have to be charged a bit extra. I know you guys. I mentioned to having the win off the layoff. A page runner was scored with. You dropped her in for tag. For the first time she went and got claimed. Might take her that day. I was hoping I'd get away with it, but anytime you WanNa, claiming race and you know your favorite. Say better than fifty fifty to to to lose one I know that you know. It took a while for her to break her maiden. And then her fourth percent against winters, the fourth doesn't sound that bad, but it was a pretty well beaten fourth, and so her owners and I had in mind that we were going to have to be more realistic with and. You also have to go back to that maiden race Alameda, says she one and realize the field that was in that day. She was in a field where. We through del Mar, November, and they couldn't get a grasp. Maiden race to fill progress meetings because I had another Philly in the grass category that. And so then Loselle to the first week, and they've got a long dirt. And we all have Kinda felt for a year or two that the air force has handled dirt. Track a little bit better than Fan Anita. And so with that dirt turf made rates, not feeling. I think page winner was the only Philly in that race coming out of the. Is My point and it was all grass sources that she'd be winning on dirt, and so it wasn't like winning the southern California maiden special weight in the in the true sense, and and proud of it very happy with it, but but she won. The kinda sneaky spot there. It was more like a maiden claiming race so happy to have gotten to win and happy. The hawthorns been such great clients for me over the years. And that that was kind of where we felt like she belonged and and that's what you have to do to to be in the right spot and gough favored and. We were we were talking briefly before we came on air, you'd said let me take my mask off. And you know a couple of weeks into the protective measures and everything Do you and your bar and feel like? He kinda got a rhythm of the root the new routine down. Yeah much better now it's taken some adjusting. And, we felt like we had just gotten into the rhythm of everything. When racing started in them, they added about four things to us with the stopping and getting your temperature checked at the stable, and then they put a wristband on us. It's color coded so that it changes every day. You can't just keep sneaking in. And that will continue down. The delmar and that was racing added. The know so. That's one thing for for those of us. Who Live off the track and we're walking in. But the stable help that lived on the grounds weren't necessarily happy to go through that process, and they now have to make sure that they do. If they're going to run a horse and take one over to the front side, so it little things like that. It's all an adjustment period. But God, driving whatever it takes to get racing back. What we're going to bend over backwards to do and make it happen. Before we talk about your career and race. He wanted to ask about one more of the Horse Horses is currently in the Barn and that's Zach shares. I'm not sure how to say it, but multiple rated stakes placed fifth in the beholder mile last time I. She's kind of been knocking on the door of graded stakes company. Do you think she can get that coveted win? I think she will. Unfortunately I'm wondering time. She's five years old and we're quickly GONNA. Come on the fall of the year and she'll be. She'll be bread.

"I shouldn't say problem for a hopeful may fifteenth opening. They don't have any confirmation or at least they didn't announce any that that was Okay by local health authorities but Aidan Butler of Santa Anita kind of made it sound as though. Hey look if we're going to you know be open. We have to be planning and ready. And since they are a retraining it makes sense to have a book in place and I suppose that you could always push a book back a week or two and keep it somewhat. You know honest. That book obviously trainers who were training to have a horse. Peaking at a certain date Are are thrown off a little bit if that is the case but You know I think I think it was a good day in terms of hearing and seeing about racing resuming sometime in the near future and as I've kind of said I think late May is going to be a target for a lot of folks and I think Kinda standing by that comment and I even Daiei called Jill burn with colonial yesterday and said you know jobs wanted to check yet and you know. She's optimistic about racing. Returning Virginian said they have plans to To run with fans or without fans in and they've taken proper precautions and made plans for both situations so it was nice to hear that I mean. I'm I'm certainly itching for to get back to announcing and to get back to you know seeing live racing and obviously if there's no fans I mean I'm that I'm going to spoil situation because I'll actually get to see live racing but you know. Hopefully it's something where the fans can't come out be it at colonial or wherever by the time we're getting to July and August but I'm I'm a little pessimistic. That's going to happen anytime soon. But I'm all for being heavy my opinion and having it not be the case because Sports are meant to be enjoyed with an audience and so But I mean I've caught plenty of races with no out of Portland and some rain as at river and even some rainy days of monmouth there was There was nobody there so Certainly not first time. I'd be doing that but It was it was it was it was nice to see some movement being made forward and and I think I think everybody wants things to get back to normal. It's just a matter where I think a lot of people differ on when that's going to be and how we do that but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't perked up the idea of hearing about horses moving back to Churchill and racing starting there sometime soon and naira resuming in Santa Anita getting back on. I honestly would think you know because of new. York has been a hotbed for this. Naira might be a little further away California at seems like The Los Angeles County folks are not the most on the side of Racing Site. I worry about the ambitiousness of May Fifteenth. But I hope they're right but we shall see. Let's take a short time out. We Come Back Ellen. Dickinson will.

"A lot of lobbyists do in the US as well where they would lobby for Susan. Restrictions to be pleased like comcast not allow competition suit in states so that they could have monopoly in certain areas and and other companies Well I guess other companies colluded with them. Praise fixing on stuff. That would be a different kind of corruption. But this one way they would they would have. You know rule set up in law so that. The Anita kind of license so. Okay let me let me begin again, so let's say I'm company and I have a I have a big enough company that I could get some sort of political influence so no I. Get some laws passed to make it to make it so that you need a license to know practice what I'm practicing. Let's see Let's see it's like Russia where Russia. They have I think only in companies are low to produce vodka STOIC foot, Kim Russia and to get a license almost impossible. So, as a as somebody that has all the money on capital and expertise. I conscious jump out I can't just make my own vodka production factory because I don't have this license and this license is only given. Obey the seats and is still give it out to. I guess their friends, so they business partners. Such a way you have something setup in law that will let the people that produce that vodka. be the only ones dot could produce it and anyone else. They sort of using law to constrict the markets themselves, so that would be key structural group that would be a case of structural corruption, but let me be want simpler down to Earth we have. We all have cars. And after three four years old, we should have a mechanical checkup on the scars to make sure that they're safe to to be using the road that they're roadworthy. But in the roadworthiness test, we have to check that each for breaks stop from sixty kilometers hour or sixty miles an hour to zero in.

"Lowest scoring average compulsively have you wanna win the scoring title and results come from that. I have my swing field had Tigers vent and twenty fourteen. I played really well the masters in fourteen fourteen I played from swing feel and then I have my one that I had in two thousand fifteen so I have these three swing feels. And what what are this Wingfield? Sorry. One of them is like, okay, I've gotten really turned inside and almost pointed to far to the right at the top. So I feel this kind of like setback flat laid off backswing in from there. Just feels nice pocketed. That was where I played two thousand fourteen a lot from two thousand fifteen I'd kinda overdone that a little so I try and work this rolled open face early. Get a nice real depth and my back swing and then Anita kind of feel like I'm coming over the top of it from their two thousand seventeen. I played from this real drag my left arm as low across my body's. I can't get that left arm. Nice and flat. And hinge that risk angle to try and get back over my head a little bit. My tendency from when I was twelve years old was to take the club out NOP and lay it off a little bit. And then drop it from the inside and hit these big sling and drls, and when I started working with Cameron it was to try and make that more consistent closer to one plane just get back in through similarly. But my tendency is always to take it and not quite complete the back swing and therefore when I don't complete the back swing lower body starts a little too quick in my MRs little Spinney right ball, which if you have won miss, and it's just short, right. You literally get away with that almost everywhere except for twelve at Augusta which I didn't one year because that was my miss. I didn't wanna say hand in. That's just that. I was hitting the ball poorly that week in every other whole you, you know, you run into your fine. And that's it. And I I've played golf that way for a long time. We'll that started to bug me that that was my miss..

"She'll. Bring you our stallion spotlight segment presented by red brand fence and then trainer Ken mcpeek. Coming up at the end of the show right around nine forty eastern time. JT we throughout the poll question. Our question of the day and people can vote, and they have been voting at HR in on Twitter is of the race tracks currently running which is most likely to have the Kentucky Derby winner race there. This winter Gulfstream Santa Anita act and the fourth category fairgrounds slash Oaklawn. And right now, it's something close. It's all Santa Nita. Fifty six percent of the vote coming in for Santa Anita kind of figures game winner Instagram and improbable arguably the top three derby contenders. At this point are all scheduled a race. It's either. So that that figure to be the case. And just so people know when they read that question, it says it technically says, which is most likely to have the Kentucky Derby race there. This winter our fearless leader on our social media side of things Chauncey went ahead and posted a correct. Into that and said fear, not they are not moving the Kentucky Derby or racing it in winter that should read Kentucky Derby winner race there. This year. Well, done Chauncey. So Santa Anita the one that is leading the way right now, we told you you could tweet your tax questions to us. You can still do. So and we'll pass those along to Jen Shasha answer those for you. If you have a specific question that you want to know the answer to this is free tax advice for you, courtesy of Jen and dean Dorton and Jen is with us now in studio. Welcome thanks for having me free, the annual tax conversation. I know this is important. We talk about this at the owner view conference. Right, right. I always say it might not be the sexiest topic. But once the question start flowing at the end, and they open up the question and answer session, you are inundated with questions about taxes. Right. It's sort of the least sexy topic. But maybe one of the most important it's from financial perspective. How you get your money back and how you know how you invest in horses and what you do. So obviously, my bias opinion is one of the most important things about horse ownership and participating in the industry. The only tweet that we received pertaining to. Taxes came from from John Fahey who says can the horse tax when the Kentucky Derby. Well, John that's the one tax question. I probably can't answer. I will say that. I liked the name the owners color. So I'll probably rooting for the tax the perfect. What are some of the new things that are happening here in two thousand nineteen that folks in the industry can take advantage of sure, and we'll talk about is also applicable for twenty eight hundred for those of you that are just getting ready to file your tax.

"We'll see we'll see in March when Gulfstream and Santa Anita kind of bubble up with a lot more regularity including the found a youth. And and we'll we'll see I I can reach out the along at naira and see, but I can tell you that Oakland was the key to this TV package. Oaklawn of naira are the key to the TV package on. I mean to still didn't love about blowing is that not only gonna have great, you know, steak series of derby preps, but they don't hesitate putting to turn allowance races in there. And I mean, there's a lot of -tunities forces at Oakland in Oakland, a great job pay. You'll be there at some point. I will be there for Arkansas derby will be will be the fairgrounds for star week. And it does look I gotta make the decision. But I. Think. Now, I'm going to do. Some fountain of youth coverage leading up and then before the convention, which is a clear water. I'm going to do a couple of days. I think Tampa as well before they. The damp obey derby. Well, I mean citing starting with the the weather's I find Windsor. Extremely fascinating race. I mean, you I mean you got seven horses in there. And no one wants to be back in second. They to be on the lead or second. I'm gonna know comes from behind wars isn't this race at all. And it'll be interesting to see to see how to how patience race obviously, everyone's gonna be looking at. Luckily, who's got who's got a lot of early speed. You know, coming from parks. You know, cash is king again. So they got several several sources, you know. And then you got the horse on the outside. And it's got a lot of speed is not that Brady rhetoric is source. It got a lot of speed and everybody else wants to be wants to be right there. And then you got any, you know, not only that, but you know, all these horses. None of these courses stretching out from some sprints stretching out for either mile and a mile in eighth. And you look at like Moretti who broke his maiden at a mile in ace. You know, rather I impressive lease some visuals standpoint. Obviously, you know when you run at dot in December. You don't know what to make a horse who runs a mile Nathan one fifty four four. I mean, that's like harness time. But you can't you can't you can't knock a horse because you know, the track so deep so he's blinkers on even though he wasn't you know, he won by by over three lengths. So it will be interesting. Plus it's been doing a lot. He put splinters on his young three roads quite a bit. But you got some interesting horses here. I mean, what what really interests maize on the rail tax. Who started out, you know, clay clayborn dill side of frame by Ben colebrook, and they ran right off the bat. So thirty thousand anyone Email you he runs a good race. And then he put and they run them for they went back fifty thousand. He gets claimed like any guard and wins the race by two lengths and he comes back Wentz third reps. And so we don't have a good this horses. He's arch over giant's causeway mayor so it'll be interesting to see how good the good. This sort is owned by the you know, the Reeves. From Muthu macho man thing, but I mean, it you don't know what to make say Winston because he's you know, he's coming off three straight poly track races at Woodbine and and graduated Saratoga. We didn't run well and five zero sprint that circle down for run. Well, but he's one well on the on the Pali track. The question is can you come back with that trick you former which is interesting because I've seen him in a long time. He used to be a major major player back with Nick Zito. People, you know, a lot of people talk about Bellamy road and yet Bellamy road, so. Didn't tell me about are. You remember, no? Let me wrote. It was Steinbrenner's Steinbrenner, Ben, right? Yes. How the great that's what I'm thinking about the great. The the the older the jock age, and you were thinking was Ivan. Yeah. Right, right. I've few dry. Yeah. I just got agreed to picture that scene. Guiterrez saying they'll fecta is knowing the world they're gonna let me write this was he wants to win the Kentucky Derby on them. But anyway, you know, you gotta look at him..

"It's called a callback you with through literally every roster you've ever been on. Oh, okay. You did some research l. this. So you've obviously you played with some really talented teams. Some really talented guys, including, you know, guys like Michael Finley, Nash, Josh. Our guys have made all star teams, but you've never, I I would at least make this argument. You've never had a big three. You've never, you know, you never wear on a team with LeBron d. Wade, Chris, Bosh, you know, Katie where they have a big four. You know, Katie Steph clay dream on. Was there Eddie? Was there any talks with you? Would Mark or Donnie just about, you know, getting sort of that big three, especially like from, oh, eight on after the Celtics got rake cagey in Paul, was there ever and he talks about you guys sort of orchestrating things to get a big three? Yeah. I mean, we, we always get better. I mean, that's that's not a secret that we traded for Jit kid thinking, oh aids for we try to avoid Devon, and then you know with didn't really a panel pan out right away. And so we're our franchise wanted to get better. We lost so thinking the first round one year against New Orleans and we lost in the second round again. So you know, we always want to get back to. We wanted to get back to the finals and then obviously win at all. So I never wanted to be that involved. I wanted. I didn't really wanna be the guy when somebody gets traded. They're like all, you know, Dirk, obviously knew about this and this. And so always maybe too much fault always wanted Mark and dawn. Anita kind of run the show. So I put my faith and dumb, and now they're both could friends and good people. So I always said, hey, let those guys to their thing and and no, they have our best interests at heart. And so you know, they always had faith and dumb that I want to come through and put the best product out there for for a franchise. And so that's that's how it looked at it. And you got to say, we just got a little lucky there and ten eleven, you know, to run it in Miami, that team full of full of hall of famers. But we just had a right mix that year, you know, which was lucky to, you know, we just traded for Tyson. Chandler is basically missed a year and a half because he had Sergia territory. So you know, we, we didn't know if he was even going to play. It will be a factor at all. And then just then we signed paging year who ended up being unbelievable for making shots. You know, we just had a great, great chemistry. We had an older group to kind of fit together and had fun. Playing off each other. But you know, I think eventually we would have loved to have our own big three. But you know, we, we did witted along the year when we had cap room. We, we did some some recruiting which ought to get one year which ought to get the Onder the first time when we had for you guys, we try. Where were you when that was happening you in the United States there? Were you sees? I think I was travelling in that time..
