Aniko is from youngest Or even most games played. I'm at the very very bad is definitely a hierarchy. For sure you earn your stripes in if you have working is played in other person than you get the advanced further back. But if you have if you're older but have less games players still low but lore it's just it's just different hierarchy of hockey teams and so Or twenty year olds or at the back of the bus. There's nine of us on the team that year In so we're all at the back of the bus. But yeah so i sat in. I think row twelve aisle seat driver side. I did you ever think that the seat you're in was the reason you're with us today. Do i don't person beside me. Passed away in. The person in front of him passed away so the person behind passed away in behind him past. You don't remember the accident. But you're quite lucid. When you talk about the bantering camaraderie leading up to it. Yeah i was. The whole idea was that we knew we had to play loose. Template tight did on edge but we knew we had to be dialed in when impacted draw and so it was like loosen joking around on the bus in that normally like to visualize before i play in that night shutdown role so as visualizing language gonna do on the ice house your check down top line so i usually do is put my music headphones. He acted like he knew what was going on. But it wasn't till four days later that he went for sleep and then when he woke up from the sleep he was asking again. Were am i. Take us back to that moment. Is anything really make sense. No it didn't end for me. The most logical thing was so. I woke up in. I looked around and i saw her parents in their kind of crying college around. Close my eyes. I thought dreaming. I literally thought i was in a dream. I thought having like a load nightmare dream ever was opened. My eyes again realized that i wasn't dreaming. Must be like hit from behind i. We had our game hit from behind hurt. My neck broken neck can cost in the hospital now so they had our game go and they're like there was no game. Mind racing the end up telling me that dana passed away housing. What do you mean denote passed away. And she cheeses sixteenth. One passed away like what previously they told me to beforehand Had no idea so in these four and a half days that i don't remember i was vocal as talking to people. I was still with it. However i don't remember it is called track amnesia State where you're kind of uncharacteristic manner not truly yourself but you're still able to communicate so with it time very sarcastic as ignorance rude. That was completely characteristic of me. But i don't remember it whatsoever. And when they settle down to the point that they could do an mri. There was a lot going on. Wasn't there was so for me. I believe it was five than it had four broken vertebrae back and blood clots left eardrum. All right eardrum left arm. They're pre large ones. And then i also had a severe traumatic brain injury. The doctor says i should not be able to walk right. Read even remember my name. The doctor said if we look at being a vegetative state and paralyzed for your neck out. That was kind of when it really hit us. How severe managers. Truly where an how. Lucky in grateful i am to be ram today. Do you believe that you're here today for a higher purpose just living life. I mean that it's a miracle Our we wanted to find it defy all the scientific principles that you are having this chat with a i. I'd actually didn't think i had that. Severe brain. annual has a beer brand brain injury but not that severe because afterwards Tests now is like scoring. The highest possible is tests is breaking records on these tests. The doctors were so confused. Conflicted list does make sense because images this your nine close so actually got another image of my brain and Seraglio mitch like. I'm sure i had a brain injury but not to the severe of degree. Sure enough i got back is e exact same scam exact same results and that was when it really hit me just how lucky i am to be in possession man. I don't know if there's a higher purpose. I not like that. I'd save religious by unspiritual. I'd say i really don't ask those questions because you'll never get an answer for them and i understand that five on that. Why why me why not others. They won't take you down a good path. So i try to live in the moment and for the time that i am here to make the most of the opportunity that i have. How did you deal with the grieving process. I mean these people were your family. How did that factor into a body that so desperate even begin the healing process. I think at first i was in. Denial added looks through twitter. In kinda hit me that evening after through twitter in look at social media gannon however real it was that of toilet hip knee Who was scared. Wasn't i had the survivor's guilt for a little bit too. I did ask questions. Like why am i here. Why others not like you have a father head coach art hogan father to wife and he's gone in a sixteen year old keenum who is elite player. I was called up in had aspirations of bill into the angela. He he's gone to those younger guys to ahead of me had extensive serious injuries and some bass way to that just didn't make sense. Why am i here. Why are they not here. Like the has such a better life. I wish i could trade places Would it was just like loss of that. Survivor's guilt and then it hit me that i can't be thinking this way. If i m here which i am i need to make the most of it because if i was to pass away. Sad was one of the ones who passed away however want survivors to live their life. This is. I asked myself in my hospital bed when night. Russia was just sitting up thinking about it. I was like well. Sign passed away want survivors slip their life and i want them to be happy. Because you're the life is very slow. The people are automats so this the simple of life we leave here in brutes. Hearing bouquet is very similar to the life of the obits. So when i understand these. I haven't loved that the lord of the rings and the other torquay kin- books when understand these i. I wanted to rebuild shire because already there right. And so i want to ask you about your shire which is where the hobbits live in tolkien's lord of the rings and But the also the habits live in houses that are underground. And they'll and they i. Is that where you who've and the house is a norm houses. And so i decided to rebuild these out these obstacles to give to the hobbits already. Leave here in abruzzo a place where live better bit. And so you have the houses and what about the characters besides the hobbits. I mean you've got well. Is there a wizard. You have someone like gandalf. Do you have a dragon near the shire. "Like toward the rear because the stuff of course you can still get torn up there. But i think it's. It's a little bit more presentable having that forty-five there in the front or the numbers in the front in in my google search. Not only did it come up with the forty five car. But i guess because the people were talking about the number placement brought up in a couple of photos of the all star a couple years ago and it definitely. The number being moved forward devil experiment. The number move being moved backwards. Yeah i don't know for some reason. Just the aesthetics of it looks really. It looks a lot better. It looks a lot cleaner than what it is. So i'm looking forward to seeing some other Smother paint schemes and how incorporated because people will get better the monster cars so basic to begin with you know just flat black That i think is we see more teams with more colorful paint schemes Starting to design cars that it'll start to look more cohesive that way too yeah Also can i ask this question. Push like what seven years old monster energy. I don't get that it doesn't make sense. But boy they love him he is how would he might. He might be forty five where he's in the forty hours forty three. He's in the forty five car forty three years old. They might picked me to be the next monster. Energy spokesman might as well. Hey you got you gotta do that whole with the the monster energy girl for the facebook surname do that. Oh man. But i think that this move makes a lotta sense because bubba is still developing as a driver and kurt. Busch isn't going to be the guy that goes out. Like kyle and like destroys the field. Or kyle larson any kyle aniko and destroy but this is a guy who can get top tens get visibility for the team visibility for the car and win race which means to get in the playoffs and so it's very safe pick. I think as long as he continues to perform he could have kevin harvick year next year. You never know. But as long as he continues to perform the way he has been performing winning at least a race then. They're going to get their mileage out of him as his monster. Yeah i think it's one of those deals where it's good to have this veteran leadership for a guy who You know who can be. You need to be a little bit more fine tuned bubble walls. I mean he's got talent is just a matter of whole it in in creating performances with the equipment they got and it's a good. It's a good mentorship. Yeah yeah and Yeah i agree. I agree one percent. If he chooses to learn from kurt than i think he can There is something definitely learned from kirk And then we'll be weird that The the kurt's boss while one of his boss is going to be actually younger than him. But that's all right. I think at this point he kind of knew that. Yeah yeah sure Actually no tony sorts older than him was gonna say already had a boss it with younger and but it but he's not And then all right so then we did have some charter news. That starr com is selling their charter. But they haven't said who sold the to or nor have. They confirmed that they've actually sold it. Yes that's the thing like. Maybe we sold it. I don't know you tell us what all the secret crap is all about. But i don't get it like why why it's not like it's not like an injury thing like we're going to. It's going to be on the book somewhere and other. We're gonna find out when yeah wire wisest being secret. You try to make more money out. I don't think it's going to and then the the really weird part about this is that the rumor say sold that the spire and spire already had three charters but they sold to their colleague and so they just sold to and then they're going to.

And during this i mean come on seizures them panic attacks and my husband just died and people care. They didn't for once considered that. Maybe this was an interesting notion of two people who they're making a transaction here or both lonely and finding others company not only enjoyable but have a modicum of love for one another. This is a pretty incredible story from beginning to end. Isn't it surely is your life. My life is like living soap opera. Playboy playmate anna nicole. Smith prepared armed the photos of her dead husband. She took the stand ready to fight when anna nicole smith walked into the trial. The odds were in her favor so much money. Why not give her a letter. And i don't wanna call me. I'm not going to call this marshall to go bigger. I truly am not how you decide what she is and what she did and why should be based on evidence so pierces lawyers rusty art. He has a reputation for being a great trial where she will not be a poodle girl from texas when the tromso he would have been about eighty six years old at that time. What attracted you to it. Really bad for him. I felt sorry for him. My are you. The kind of person takes in stray animals. If i seen what. I probably would yes okay. He may be folksy but he's also sharpe's attack and he knows how to cross examine a witness the letter from pierce marshall to you about your bills. Do you remember that letter awesome. And you remember that he asked you to look at the date and the date on. That letter was february. The fifth is i recall. Was it not. Can i see the leather again up there. That's okay. I don't wanna get in trouble. Wants to get a frustrated. So if she doesn't know dates he's gonna ask her about dates over and over again. Man that was in september wasn't dead sometime. Yes rusty i am bad with days. The more he can draw out of her the more he can get her frustrated flummoxed that only benefits him and his client. Right you got your k- cocoon or wafer cone. You've got your sugar cone the waffle and then you've got your wife the lawful coun- down. I think they're all great. I think they all serve different purposes. And i can speak pretty authoritatively on this as a former person who worked in the ice cream arts. Yeah now as a yogurt artist. What all kind of colin options did you serve. All of them. The gamut we. Kate bilo awful even richer waffle cones and we had dipped waffle cones dipped in chocolate usually and enrolled in different toppings. So they're like butterfinger crunching peanuts. That's the thing waffle. Cone is what you need if you're dealing with a lot of toppings because you can't really fill a waffle cone with ice cream and and fro yo alone right like it's a big. It's a basket. They called kony is essentially a basket that can contain lots of things some but a waffle cone is like a commitment if like the eating the waffle cone after eating the ice cream and toppings inside of it is like a little. It is easy to feel bad after doing that. How much sugar cone is just like. Sugar guns like a tiny waffle cone essentially but like i feel like okay. I've done the work of eating the ice cream. I can have that kate cone for frozen yogurt when it melts into it and it gets kinda like sloppy glue coffee. Glor- p- glory down. oh my goodness decay. cone is the kind that's like kind of styrofoam styrofoam. Yeah the sugar. Cone is what. You're just like a like a small waffle. Okay yeah. It doesn't have the kind of broken edges. No yeah okay. I got ya caught up. If you're a sugar cone for me is like if you're just in it for the ice cream. Sugar is the way to go its officiant. It is functional. You have it and you eat the ice cream off of it and then you can eat it and it's not. It's like a little after after dinner snack snack. It's an after dinner snack after snack after you've finished the ice cream cone and that's and that's great to me so there's some history here i would love to give on. Kuhn's ambles cones can be sourced back to early nineteenth century cookbooks. There's a french cookbook from eighteen. Twenty five dimensions making cones out of little waffles Which is adorable And from what. I've found kinda went mainstream mainstream in the united states at the nineteen four saint louis world's fair. There's a story that is probably apocryphal. About an ice cream sales person who ran out of cups so they went next door to the waffle salesperson. We're like pay hooked me up and so. They folded up ice cream inside their waffle. And that was. I love it i. It's it's not proven that was the case. That's the truth But there are things called trenches that are like from medieval times like the actual times. Not the restaurant that were basically stale ass bread that they would cut into plates and so you would eat stew and shit out of them and then crunch those down. Also when you're done with bread bowls are ancient. And i think that's powerful. Can i just bring him in. Here let's bring. Let's bring gus into the studio. Because he's waking up high there gus. Welcome to the studio august. Do you have anything to say for yourself now. Daddy's talking about bread bowls doing here. Daddy talk about bread bowls. Honey okay tell me about bread. Bowls trenches the medieval plates. We were talking about it before your rudely interrupted by our stay puff marshmallow man of sun And so there's a word called trenchermen which describes like a gorman and a prolific eater of food and also describes somebody who like comes by. Your table ought to like eat off your plate like somebody who comes and steals your food like you know the kind of person who's like ooh french fries. Let me grab. That's that could be a trenchermen. Aniko all the etymology of that sources back to these old stale bread plates that they used to have in medieval times. when love. i like that. I didn't know that the medieval folks are so crafty but there they were to their stew and then eating their plate and somebody's like are you ready for dinner and you'd be like hey and they'll be like where's your plate like fucking eight it. Sorry kost august can babies understand words and cuss words. Now okay cool then. I don't feel guilty about it. I just like i like the novelty of it is obviously great. But i also there. I have had some bread bowl experiences. Where i'm some of this. Other food has leaked into this food and created an all new great food which is to wet. She brad now. I think that's powerful. Same stuff as a chance to be just this giant thumbs up. Yeah from all accounts. The draft went very very well for the rangers. They got the highest rated pitching prospect. I believe in all of college baseball right boy kind of a lucas type deal best player in the draft but wasn't taken first overall. Yeah i i guess what they said is like. He's the top pitcher from the top college. That produces pitchers. I'm sure he will end up failing because it's the rangers just for now. We're we're a little happy. They did make a really good point this morning on the measures where they were talking about. Not only does he have the arm to throw the pitches but having had a dad who was a major league pitcher knows how to pitch like not just a very very successful pitcher. His dad was really good. Question would be how long till he actually hits the field so they said last night if he had to could pitch in the major league now. I hope they don't run them. Yeah that he's that good but if they take their time and do it right. This would be nice for us to have a solid homegrown ace for multiple years so probably be in the rotation by twenty twenty two. So that's the thought that he might show up sometime at twenty twenty two but you're almost guaranteed to have twenty twenty three. I think the most interesting thing about lighter is typically. You have these high school kids or the college kids when they're coming out especially these. Ace pitchers their arms. Just get worn out. Because they'll throw him they don't care they throw them in throwing role. He happens to have been coming into his own college at the same time as all the kobe and stuff was happening. He has a lot less innings on his arms than most. These guys do coming into the league. So i think that's actually going to be a really really beneficial thing. He has not been overtaxed the way most of those guys out. That's what the commentators last line on. Espn said the same thing that there's a lotta tread left on the tire. The other big news is a little things in the mavericks shaking up. I know we have two massive spurs fans here gary. Let's start with you. Did you think it was time for a change in both the general manager aniko coaches. I did. I had problems with done. Nelson carlisle throughout the years. But it's hard to argue in there really enough if you win season after season and you know. They got to one finals and they won another finals. There's a lot of things over the years. That donny didn't value the draft. So there are a lot of wasted picks. Lucky was having fun with it instead of actually taking the chance on heading out again the second round or whatever so i thought it was time for carlisle's not one for developing rookies. So if you're luca and you show up you're just ready to play. He's great if you're not luca and you're not ready to play. He's a big jerk now. You are a big jerk. So apparently luca didn't particularly like that carlisle was mean to or not good for some of the other guys on the team even though he was kissing lucas shoes. It didn't matter because it bothered luca the treated other people so i think it was time for a change. I'm extremely excited about nico harrison. And i am more than willing to give. Jay kid shot a shot. His first real shots at coach. He'd literally been out of playing for nine weeks when he got his first coaching job. So obviously yet he's had some time to learn some things on that front end in. I you gotta think that his time as an assistant coach with the lakers will help him. Learn how to coach quote unquote. When he was here he learned a lot from coach clemens but he didn't learn a lot from coach mata but.

No filler. welcome back to the general tire down and dirty radio show powered by polaris razor. Jim beaver chris. Leoni here we are going through our power. Rankings we've talked a little bit of formula one at number five which means we got four spots left to go and now the f. one out of the picture. It's gonna be interesting to see the way our next four stack up chris. So who do you have a sitting there number four on your list. So number four i am going to go with. I'm actually gonna go to promote across. And i am going to go to thunder valley And i'm gonna go with ken. Robinson for the one in the four fifty class. You know we've had all sorts of different discussions about ken rocks and over the years like he's gotten hurt he's had issues he hasn't been able to win supercross title. You know this thing that thing the other thing we really beat down. Ken rocks right. You know we've we've always kind of done this and we've done it with tomac to finally you know tomac finally got his supercross title so i think that quelled some of the criticisms and yet now he lied. Tomac is not going to be with kawasaki next year. And i don't think we've seen the announcement on where he's going. So there's you know. But ken roxanne i mean he's one of those guys who gotten hammered year after year after year in the media for different things. He's gotten hurt you know. Can you be consistent enough. Can you win championships. you know. Multiple championships can win both indoor and outdoor titles. Whatever you know. But all i see right now is a guy who took the four fifty points lead in colorado. You know he's one up on dylan fernandez. They've got some cushioned aaron plus injure in third Here's somebody who he's been building towards another championship for a long time and we really thought that last year could have been the year. And i think with the gap because of covid just not being himself in the series of salt lake races that they did finish out the year. Kinda got one taken away from him a little bit but somebody who. I think ken rock do again. So i've got him at my number four. Speaking of number four. I had him completely slated in the exact same spot as you did. Kris jenner oxen one and one their thunder valley in my number four spot. Basically for all the reasons you did and he was the only rider that even got close to a sweep the to fifty s. I think it was. I can't remember. I think it was two and a four. Then it up clinching. So i don't want one in promote across. It's not it's tough. It's really tough away. Motorcross does our scoring because to win two main events. It's really hard you know. That's like winning to back to back supercross races in so especially with the length. And how grueling. Those motos are. I'll give kenner rocks and a lot of credit or anybody can pull off and let him pro motocross. But i had rocks in at number four. Just like you. Chris which means we've got three left. Who do you have it number three. Well jim this is kind of a cop out. Because i'm putting a couple of people together at number three but they had equal weekends. Basically so get ahead to aniko wisconsin for the championship off road opener and brock hager and cj greaves. Going to tie them up at number three because both of them swept pro truck class and both of them got one on the other side by side class cj greaves. I mean we've seen him dominate year after year in the mid west Multiple different classes swept the side by side classes last year. In the championships. I believe but Didn't win that pro four title. I think it was kind of duke that got it last year. So cj set up right. You know what i'm gonna dial it back on the tv side of things. I'm going to focus on pro stocked. And i am going to go get that pro for crown back. Did exactly that You know or at least has started the season the way he needs to to do that. Sweeping both of those pro- four races Then managed to get that first pro stock race brock. Haggar you know give him. Some credit comes in from the west coast. Obviously landscape has shifted yet again in short course racing lot of west coast guys heading into the mid west and committing to the full champ. Offroad season brock comes in sweeps pro. Lite comes in manages to steal one from cj in pro stock cj at one seven out of nine before brock. Hager got one in on him at anna goes. So you know that is going to be a hell of about Over over the next few months as they try to fight those out. They seem like they're going to be the drivers to beat and their respective pro-trump classes so the pro stock side by sites where they're gonna even the score so tight number three for those guys. Well i Somewhat similar at number three as you i had. Cj grease at number three. You know obviously mainly for his a win pro four stack field the mid west this year you know and and with cj taking. I guess sweeping the weekend. And i think this is a tough one because none of these drivers had any data. They didn't have any setups this attract. That hadn't been run. And i think like a decade So it's You know. I think it's tougher to get a win this weekend than it is on any other given weekend just because the lack of data and things but you know just for all the reasons you said i had cj greaves sitting at number three on my list which makes me wonder if our number twos and ones are going to.

And I really mean it in the in the 2021. I'm gonna start off with the 2018 Pascal jovial a blank soon made from the Loire Valley of France. I simply love this sauvignon blanc wine. The wine has a lovely romantic lemon custard, little dry day for Constantine minerality in on the palate, Just levers, a Citrus What? Weren't you fruit, little pineapple sweep over the tongue with precision and a lovely crescendo of Christmas City on the clean finish. I love this wine $55 also resolving to drink more Italian wines. I think that's the most important currency you have an i have that. We are merciless truth seekers in each own way. But it's funny because twenty twenty four you have been a lot about how has been very philosophical this revisionism about talking about. Ufo's yes you did. Which is why. I think all in all it's more ch- paragon challenging the whatever for example richard dolan could conjure up. Will you think well. I think there's so much to talk about their one as really struck by what you said at the beginning about insincerity. Because for you. And i think it just comes natural. We don't see it in any other way and i'm not proclaiming myself to be kind of any for me. It's more of the origin of the show. I didn't have any economic drive in the show and from the beginning and that was a gift a gift that i didn't even realize because i started the show before it was even economically viable to think about making any money podcasting. It wasn't even. It wasn't any of it. So but that really set the tone for me. Because i was always interested in this truth seeking and in understanding and talking to the smartest people that i that i could and i think that anyone who's listened to form borealis gets the same thing and like you said with the long form which is the care that you take to a like which is about nuts sweeping up all the little pieces that might fall on the floor because invariably there's some of those little pieces turn out to be you know super important so i'm going to add a couple little pieces to the on akaluka's story because and for people who haven't heard from your show who haven't heard about it on akot lucas Is a. I always say the same way. The reason one of the reasons. I connect with aniko lucas yogi. And i'm yogi and were she. Drill is a yoga dealt with it zach and she has a hurt her who she is now.
