Now, look at who's making these films, especially the directors the center for the study of women in television and film at San Diego State university looked at the two hundred and fifty top grossing films in the US last year. And what they found looked a lot like years past women made up just eight percent of the directors. The numbers are higher when it comes to producers and editors more around twenty percent. And the numbers haven't changed much for a while. They've been standing in for over a decade. So this year's no surprise, right? That's ballista Silverstein. She did not work on the report. But as founder of another group called women and Hollywood Silverstein has long foxy greater representation in the industry. Studies have shown that the more women you have behind the camera in positions, the more inclusive your film is so if you want to have an inclusive set the thing you do is hire woman director a study released just last month shows that when a woman stars in a film, it does better. At the box office worldwide and Silverstein says the same success can be achieved behind the camera. If only women get the chance really what this is about access to opportunities and access to capital women have to be able to operate at the highest levels of the business, and that has been an area that has been very cut off for women and also people of color, the number of women in director and producer roles is a bit higher and television and the conversation around inclusion has certainly picked up in the last couple of years, but as the study's author Martha laws and points out conversation is not the same as action in a statement to NPR. She said the situation is quote unlikely to be remedied by the voluntary efforts of a few individuals or a single studio. Instead, she says, but his needed is the will to change and and industry-wide effort to see it through college wire NPR news, New York in case, you didn't know bad bunny is not a new cartoon character..

"Never be another Stanley for decades he provided both young and old with adventure, escape comfort, confidence inspiration, strength, friendship, and joy. Chris Evans, does not go on to say and a dandy paycheck for me. But, but that's but I think implied. He goes on to say he excluded. He exuded love and kindness, and we'll leave an incredible Mark on. So so so many lives Excelsior Evangeline, Lilly rights, STAN more than a master of stories. You also seemed like a master of living. I will look to you for inspiration for the rest of my life. You live on Xs and os from your wasp, Jimmy Kimmel rights at age seven. I drew a weird portrait of Stanley. And he includes a picture of the portrait in his Twitter post and goes on to say, I asked my mom to send it to him. Thankfully, she didn't because thirty plus years later, I got to give it to the great one in person. Thanks for all the funds Stam and hashtag Excelsior. Kevin. Smith says farewell, my friend. You're not only responsible for the boy, I was. But also the man I am today. And I will miss you all my days, and I know a lot of people feel. That way as well. You gotta think of it as one of your favorite if you're not a comic book. Geek, you've got to think of it. As one of your favorite authors has died or one of your favorite actors has died, especially when they've created so many great characters. That's what he was. He was authored, and he was a crater and the story guy who's producer as you know, in Hollywood. If he was in Hollywood, that's what he would have been a writer director producer everybody was in comics. So he was helping the guys, you know, shape stuff and come up with the name. He came up with the name Spiderman. Handed off to dicicco and Kirby. And then of course, they ran with it. And actually, drew everything. Yeah. But he came up with the concept and probably consultant on some of the plots. Exactly what he did. Yeah. Yeah. In the various obits. They've talked about over the years about, you know, who did what went in home, and we're talking about life in the fifties and sixties in New York City, and those buildings sure ideas flying all over the rooms. And who knows what came up with what you know. So when they had a bunch of baby boomers who didn't have a lot of limits. So they were just going to. They didn't have anything holding them back. Exactly. And that's Mike antelope canon, my producer, can you tell he's a comic con freak and do you have a collection of your own? That's I was more of a DC guy. But I did have three great marvel comics I had a Spiderman with. The in humans was trying to remember their name with the hint, humans that was Medusa the woman who had red hair that would make like an octopus, snakes, I had one with her and the cover ended up being the key scene and Spiderman two with Tobey Maguire when he stopped the train. The in the comic he was stopping the Coney Island roller coaster from. Okay. So that corporation the film that was cool to see that say a fantastic four. I was big fan of majestic four back in the seventies. I was a huge fan of them. Well, that is another one of the creations. So, and that's why he touched so many people, and there was a big fan of the X men are cartoon series in the nineties that ran pretty much back with the Batman nine. There's that excellent cartoon series Stanley was really proud of because they great job with the characters. Eight Portland thousand star one thousand on NewsRadio one thousand K T. Okay. "Again, the cost and characters were incredible, Jack Sawyer, Kate. You know, you had Matthew FOX, obviously, Josh Holloway, Evangeline Lilly. Gone blank on him a Dominic Monaghan who was one of the hobbit the rings. As Charlie. Anyway, there was so many incredible characters in the show such mystery science fiction. Comedy Hurley was amazing a lot of cultural ethnic, you know, story lines and characters as well that you really can't about and why I will defend the finale to the end of time because a lot of people even hardcore fans shat on it is the finale went back to the characters kind. I think tied up the characters beautifully. Okay. And that's why? What? For me and again, a little bit of a spoiler but it closes on exactly the same shot as the show opened on that. It was just done so beautifully as done so, well, I love lost. Maybe again, the only reason it's not like number one is the number one, each seasons, like twenty five episodes or something maybe on the loss one and like the, you know, the pilot, like the first episode of each season. And the loss is usually like an hour, an hour and a half. It's a lot to go through. And number two, I I haven't gone back and revisited the whole show for awhile. I watched the finale again last year, but I still love it. It's just such an incredible thing. I have the limited edition collector's box set with all these trinkets and stuff, so ridiculous of money. Yeah, it's incredible. It's like twenty eight discs. I love lost agree. No, I agree. Lost is a beautiful production, and it's it's an awesome show, and I'm glad you made me watch it and I did just get lost on this season. Intended. Just watch the final episode at least just do it at the very worst. It's ninety minutes of time that will be lost. I will do it, but I'll I watch all of what together not just watch the finale with me, just wants to gotten everything about the Carol explain them. Okay, fine. I think you'll like it. All right. So you're gonna laugh a little bit at this one, but don't because it's my passion Buffy the memo I knew I knew that was going to be the top of your list and just binged several of those seasons like back in the late nineties and really liked to it's just a show I didn't keep up with. Right? That's just Weeden that show his beloved, be completely Frank. When I go back and revisit, I still love it. But a lot of the obviously a bit cheesy fix on now. Cheesy, however, gala. It was the career break-. Four. Willow. Oh, Alison. Halligan Hannigan American. Literally been in basically nothing really. Yes. She went on that addition pretty much thinking she was going to quit acting. Oh, and who's the hunky guys now being tons of David boreanaz. Right? It's barring us, is it really David boron? So he was in angels while which my mum loved was a spin off of, oh, she had a huge crush on characters. Name is angel than they did five whole seasons of after Buffy and then spike as well. I mean, these characters, they did it so well, taking a sort of a coming of age, high school style show and mixing it with supernatural, right? You know. There was actually a movie from the ninety with Christie's once which I'm not a fan of which is actually quite good that, yeah. Hardly anyone knows it. The show is like immortal eighties, nineties kids do know that film like most people I know do that film, but the show, I mean, semi show gala. She so witty. She so well cost Giles who the guy who plays watcher. The English guy is incredibly funny. Yeah, I know the Carrington's I love that show so much. I would sneak away from a job I had at the time and watch it really quickly like I and then I would just been the show with my friends between school semesters at the time. I was like, sixteen, I love it is an amazing supernatural show empire. Everybody should see it. It's very popular. I mean, you don't even have to defend it. You know, it's like it's a huge show. Oh, I know I was dressed as Buffy lost in just did it and went onto the avengers. Okay. Good. Next, for me is the IT crowd. So net flip, not seeing you haven't seen the IT crowd. It's at tried to like one..

"KOMO by that time to recommend something to stay out of the heat and watch on this week's DVD of the week contenders include Birdman of Alcatraz blockers. I love dogs ready to one and love. Simon told me about shirts on Twitter. I saw blockers in the plane to Singapore when I was board and had nothing to do. I was pleasantly surprised and find it funny and a good way to pasta time it past the six loft tests. John CENA I thought was better than expected insure. I would enjoy it again for second viewing Jason Wilson on Twitter. Bordman evolve tries is the only one I've not seen, but I really enjoyed all the others book was incredibly surprising. Just how good it turned diet, Claire Rice's Birdman avow contrast, classic, and love Simon for new, both by people in a prison of sorts. Looking for love now deem Razzie eyelid dogs in a year that started with the rule of great films. This is in the top three might waiting on Twitter says, one hundred percent. I love dogs and opposite delight from start to finish closely followed by love Simon. So at a secret screening and it completely caught me off. Guard beautifully, Ernest warm and touching robot Carson. Oh, pretty films, but I don't love Simon funny, charming and beats vote. And Shane Morgan says, love Simon. Everytime Jennifer garner golden still deserve a gnome Virginia clear. Are you going to go with? I love Simon because I feel like that is the film that's really gonna stand the test of time because of, I think just how if you see how it's been affecting people, you know, it just feels so fresh, that kind of story. Even though it is a typical Hollywood story to actually have it. You know, about gay protagonists, having the typical team run man's just if feels like an important milestone and he's which is a great movie to watch c. Cleveland do new show when it came out and cinemas. Yeah, yeah. And then be go love Simon, I am DVD right? We got a couple of mission impossible for like and emails that we didn't get to some good to them. Now. Hello best? Oh, test. Winners are finally hod some me time on rowing machine. A Monash listened to last week's amazing show is not enough sucking up. Yeah, on after watching mission, impossible, Monday was pleased to hear you review and others agreeing with my thoughts. One point near the end, I mentally stepped away from the foam into commitment to really consider just how good it was. Usually, this is a response reserved only for bad foams with good ones being considered for their waiting afterwards. But this film just didn't put it wrong. Even if TC did, which drew an audible gasp from an entire cinema that seen what surprised me was the negative reception to the opening titles. I love them. I love title sequence as as an editor there. They're purely to be appreciated for the are. They won't eat to see them the appear moving, aren't they want us to MAV how well they're together, and their purpose is to drive giddy excitement by showing what will happen rather than spoil five seconds after his over. I can tell you one memorable short in it. I was ready for the phone. I'm going to adopt this editing south everything. I do from that on. Cuddly editing a CD, but farming, this could be interesting hope today. Show goes, well, John Stevenson. I think it did the show was it was fun. And then from Steve's looming who says, dear, super spies, you right full. I was everything you could hope for in a summer. Blockbuster, my only issue with last week's review with saying it really didn't mar. If you HUD seen the previous film follow as a direct sequel to rogue nation to the main characters were introduced in rook nation on the film. These partly with the full light of the relationship. Super spy, Ethan, hunt Haase with them. If you want to enjoy four, it's Phil potential by recommendation. What's rogue nation first. Cheers, thanks, Steve. I feel like I would contest that night because they'd ferry is a sequel. But also if you've never seen rogue nation would make, I don't think it'd make any difference. 'cause they kind of introduce the characters as if they were brand new and you set up in the film as well. Can you get enough in the film's kind of remind you of?.

"There's even a Berlin set openning which actually features the fall of the Berlin Wall, and I'm incredibly credibly perplexed as to why that decision was made outside of maybe just because the very cinematic -ly on trend at the moment because there is this contrast of very specific historical circumstances. There's the code will there's espionage in the Middle East and also area at one point Husted Seidel up to Nazis hiding out in Syria, but there's no meaningful connection made between any of those things and it just makes you feel like why? Why said it was the point of sending in Sasha specific. Historical setting because otherwise this film is just filled with sorrow, many familiar tropes and it is completely generic. It could be anytime anyplace it could be in deep space and it wouldn't really make that much difference. Ari is the placid unflappable cool kind of spy who has a tragic backstory, whether he had a child killed in an accident, and then quickly followed by an anguish, divorce, and that trauma hardly surfaces except for the fact that he'll physically wince at the site or mention of children. Paul from that, there's no no other emotion that and with perfect timing. He comes across the puck, radiance American photojournalist played by Olivia Thirlby who he valiantly rescues from danger q. romantic, subplots, Ariza Olivia. Toby, I think, gives the most energy and the Merced personality to this whole film, but I still really struggled to see her character's anything more than just a disposable porn. As for the narrative. And that I think can be said for pretty much any female character in this film, the plot is just kind of needlessly meandering. Their sudden tons at the film doesn't actually spend the time to explain there is some reliable double crossing which you always need a spy film. But the film has been so predictable up to that point that you just know the double crossing is coming, which kind of takes the fun out of it. And I think the violence is brutal brutal violence hit, but not really with any dramatic effect. And I think that's partially because the action isn't really given room to breathe, feels very truncated in a bit fumbling, and it feels very frustrating because I think that initial premise seem so intriguing that it doesn't even begin to meaningfully explorer it, which is a shame. Wow. Sorry? No, don't we want to hold a job? Is. NFL Anthony, like much. I live with OB was very, very good. Yeah, I did struggle outside of that. It's such a shame as well with it being Joan. It's extremely brisk pace like a Disney foam where songs have been replaced with action scenes on the whole, the practical effects and son to what we'd otherwise be CGI cluster bomb, taking away from the immersion in suspense director. Christopher recording crews. Take us on, although the action was well choreographed. I felt that we'd entered an ITO of one short over Hearst, fight scenes as per John wick and felt that this film could have benefited from slightly quick editing in the fight scenes which are believe we'd have helped with the joke review of the fight scenes that are moments of over exposition, which took me out of the movie as well as their being a few too many endings, but not to the point that I didn't enjoy the phone call in, oh, this is the epitome of summer blockbusters his Disney movie. Dear Karmiel mayo stunned ins would rip and rollercoaster ride new mission. Impossible is Tom Cruise is a lunatic. But as you rightly said, last week, think of the common who had to film his stunts skydiving scene is a thing of breathtaking greasy and the men's toilet sequence makes early born films look like a spot on Loveland. "Which in a pretty good jar about deadpool which the background is. I actually Slade was created before deadpool and deadpool's is she kind of a copy of sight. So that's the thing. There's some incredibly obscure, DC jokes. I mean, that's broad references like this back to the future and The Lion King, but and also it's packed with lots of goofy fund jokes for that. The kids will love like the fought jerks, but on the adults. Yes. I feel like the adults in the room would just as engaged laughing just as much as the kids here and some of the references are incredibly obscure. There's the challenges of the unknown. I've never heard of them. I think they all real and the fact that superman is voiced by nNcholas cage which he was going to play superman in the nine hundred ninety s Tim button directed shut home. The full. I go shelved I know you finally got to live his dream of voice, superman wonder if he wore the suit because he made this a picture of him in the suit. I wonder if he wore the suit to voice superman. For this. I really hope he did in someone took a picture of minute. I feel like with nNcholas cage, I would be the most likely people that he would be the one to do that. So I do think for a film that is expanding on eleven minute episodes is so impressive how much they managed to pack in here by by adults kids, and I had a blast. You know, that thing Pixar films do where there's so many layers to it. The. Different generations can pull something I, but it's different things with this. It's your old often at the same thing because they've done it in that way that allows us an idol to kind of almost leave all your baggage door unruly. Enter their world is route child likes. You're laughing at the same things on for the same reasons as the kids. Yeah, absolutely. The songs are very funny, but ferry silly, very silly. We need more of the we need. We've got a really nice Email just enough she from govern grim and air. He says, greetings, most noble substitutes. I'm just back from a most uncharacteristic for showing on opening day during school holidays visit to a cinema suspect that the entire audience at my Glasgow screening were drawn in by also being fond of the TV version because the response to the absolutely relentless joke rate was extraordinary. I don't think I ever been in a happier cinema. The point at which I finally tipped over having been smiling and giggling consistent. Anyway, came with one hand Gog not salacious as signs. Gentle viewers over there are some gleefully dark moments. I had to drain three quarters of my non Odeon water to try and control the spluttering laughing and coughing fit. This glorious cartoon had suddenly reduced me to govern agree on. Thank you so much for that Email, brilliant seeds in his well, Sogan my husband will forever be known as Mr. saucy puns knows well because of an earlier episode of teen titans that we've watched. It's so good, so good, right. Let's move on something completely different. Shall we? What we're gonna talk about Damascus cover, which is a political thriller, which is unfortunately probably mice distinct for the fight. It has the last appearance onscreen appearance of the late great. John Hutt Saudi is very minimal role. He plays the Mossad Boston, Jonathan Rhys Meyers Ari Ben Syon, and his Rayleigh spice on on the mission to extract a chemical weapons expert from Syria, using the undercover using the cover as. A German businessman just interested in the local cop it trade. So this is by writer director, Daniel Zelic book, which also there's also Samantha Newton as the car writer here. But what I find Serpa the about Damascus cover is that the book it's based on by the same name by Howard. Kaplan was written in one thousand nine hundred seventy seven. And yet the story here has been updated to the end of the cold wall..

"What will definitely not be familiar, I think is how different this feels to the entire rest of the DC production line, especially the cinematic output. But at the same time, this is not just a Katy fide version of your favorite heroes. I think that's a better descriptive for the show that that was screened before the film where I was trying to sneak out of the house so she could help a superhero pallets. But I think this film is much more effective of the current. Animation landscape is these very simple clean minds. It's fully to d- no siegi, which is kind of refreshing and all the characters have these OSHA q., the ultra cute giant is and it's kind of similar to shires like Steven universe adventure time, the amazing world of Gumbo which some of those might bring about some of them might not at also I think it copies that trend in the shires of having humor that is more self reflective more meta humor. And that really gives space for some very smart writing and the ability to really play with John row, which when you're talking about that in the context of super hairs, of course, he'll thinking, you know, the LEGO Batman movie and deadpool and I have to admit, I actually laughed more at this film than I did at deadpool and the highlights deadpool finer like deadpool. I just laughed a lot of this because it is the absolute unrepentant, innocent silliness of the ho- film that when they do actu-. Actually a Majorca somebody like Stanley all, Batman, v superman or deadpool himself if feels so much sharper because that isn't this precious every single line to be a withering one liners. Sometimes it can just be a fought joke, which is all doing this well. So we've watched the trailer with the guy. I mean, I would say sixty times and every time we all still laugh uncontrollably and it's a good one. And also the musical numbers is a few of them here, including the incredible earworm which is up inspirational song about life. I won't saying, but it's great. And I think you know, they really have the ability to have fun with the premise. It's written by the show creators Michael Jelinek and Aaron Horvath. It's directed by Horvath and Peter writer Mikhail and the entire can of the film as a joke itself because the teen titans off straighted because every single seat here is getting that old movie accept them. Even Alfred, the Butler on is getting his own gritty franchise. I saw a poster somewhere in that film for something code at manatee, which I don't think is a real character, but at manatee and they start to wonder, you know, is having your own moving. Is that what. Makes you a hero. Does it mean that they're no good enough? Maybe it's their lack of an off nemesis, and so they start hunting down Slade of voice by will on pulse. Partially because he has such a great name for saying in a dramatic voice slate. So we have a clip of that ten pool pool. Cool. I'm not. I thought deadpool was a good guy. Deadpool. You've got them done. And the swords were lots of people have guns and swords. Okay. Now, I'm pretty sure you did look into the camera and say something inappropriate. I am the greatest fear. Most nefarious civile in the world has ever seen. Sir..

"Charm on ability to make corneas lines. Lawn is unparalleled of Angelina Lilly really holds her own in the foam as does Michael PANA biggest complaint harvest. The added one too many funny people of color with the addition of Rondo park. However, it punches me right in the gut. I wish I could. We could see again, thank you so much for that events. It's clear on me Edith in for Mark and Simon, if you've just joined us use missed Evangeline. Lilly on Pora talking about aunt Mon on the walls because some more correspondence which I would like. I thought that was a massive improvement owned the original director, Peyton redoubles dying on the comedy and family drama while continuing to play with saris using the cinematography what poet continues to be a great Scott long, the foam shines when it comes to von Julian lillies wars, the kitchen fight sequence where we see her city for the first time as an obsolete delight. Yeah, I wanted to mention. So when we're talking about an see join stuff earlier on with children, mission, impossible and stuff. And this particular scene in the kitchen I think is so clever the way they use the sole poll and maj Dubose in the nice and stuff. It's yeah, and she can shrink down inbetween punches. Yes, I am as much as we were building up the practical stunts I think when you can do stuff like that, really be imaginative with. Yes, CGI. That's why I let's give a quick mention to newcomers culture, Gauguin's and HANA. Joan came in who give excellent performance as a sunny Birch on go. I, even though the rules will limit by the fast paced script, but it is Michael pennies Lewis who steals every scene. He's an idea of some issues and try to describe these without giving spoilers at while came in his greatest ghost. You can tell she was restricted in high. She could develop a rule. Also, there's one character in particular who should have had a bigger presence here unjust acts as the foams driving macguffin. These only small issues and didn't take me out of the foam overall Armani. The wolf is a fast paced, lighthearted action, packed marvel, excuse the pun. That will be sure to entertain audiences during the unusual heatwave having this summer if it is possible. Would you guys get shot to university friend of mine who's having also longtime listener of the show? Yeah. What earlier this week? My local chain multiplex on a secret screening, which delightfully turned out to be an early showing of aunt Mon on the war while it doesn't match up to this year's impressive installments such as Black Panther on adventures Infinity war. It doesn't have to. We don't always need to see the world at stake. Sometimes she just want to see the destructive power of a joint. Hello kitty pissed Spencer from the heroes to their adversity. The stakes were more personal and very understandable. "Michael Douglas's, Hank Pym and hope. Van Dyne played by Evangeline, Lilly kidnap him hoping that he will be the key to rescuing hopes mother, Janet van Dyne played by Michelle Pfeiffer from somewhere called the quantum realm where she's been stuck since hundred eighty seven. One emission went wrong, very much. The tone is pretty consistent with the fussed. One has direct Peyton Reed returning him, but there is a little bit of. USA, breezy field to her. I think he pays me really allowed to lean more into his comedy background. You know, he's right to the likes of bring it on and down with love, bring on a classic, and I don't know whether that's to do with the fact that on the first one, he was bro in rather last minute to replace Edgar right. All weather is just to do with the fact that marvel direct is do seem to be getting more creative reading or increasing creative freedom with these movies. But I do think we'll be able to look back on this film and say that it was one of the best big studio comedies because is extremely funny era sequences head that feel much more like a poll rod movie than they do like a marvel film, and he's really allowed to be the lovable goofball that we all expect to be this a montage of hindering his house arrest, house arrest, where he's doing solo karaoke and crying over the photon us dies, and there's a whole storyline of him outsmarting the FBI agent assigned to his case played by Randall. Doc, who's an either I think just has the most incredible comic time. And then there's also his whole sort of pack of sidekicks played by Michael t I and David Gusmao Sheehan who they have their entire comedic side storylines involving truth serum and even the action set pieces get to have fun. They they using that Allison wonderland style logic of shrinking things down and blowing things up all the times I've weedy well done. Yeah. You have like a Pez candy suddenly becomes a weapon. So you know, it's allowed to to make it feel a little distinctive in that way. But I think the one thing. When the film starts to get serious is where it loses its shine a little bit because I do think this is one of those films where it feels the button I'm having to do so much narrative. What for the future of the MC films. And I think it's a downside of a lot of mobile films, and I think here it's also very aware of its place in the universe and this huge located universe. So it spends so much time explaining the tunnel logic of the quantum realm. And it just ends up in these long rambling, science explanations, and I feel I felt like walking out of this film. Every other what I heard was the would quantum. It was like, oh, they make a joke about that as well. Yeah, they pull rod makes a joke about it, but I feel like it doesn't feel like mentioning the problem doesn't absolve you of the problem and it just felt like the lines of dialogue, whoa, let's reboot the quantum charge in the quantum machine and then we can quantifies the quantum entanglements the content via level. What's your problem. Science might what? I maybe I'd just have a problem with science. I, I think it becomes a real problem when you get to the motivations of the villain ghost played by Hannah. John Cayman who does have specific quantum related reasons to be angry at all heroes. And those reasons I actually do call into question how much of a villain she really as the film is so focused on explaining all the quantum stuff that does actually not that much room for nuance. There's not like Black Panther when he had sir much room, dies explore that villain, and his motivations as ego does he bodies at the right choice? Wrong choice? And it's a shame because I think that was a really great performance at, I think another great performance is Evangeline Lilly who I know she was saying about how important it is to have the fuzzed female here in the title of model film, but it doesn't really feel like she owns this if feels still very much to me like an aspirin film. She definitely has a beef beefier rolled in the last one, but it just still feels like the at Renshaw. Oh, and it is a great, fun shy, but it does feel that bud and of being in the MC..

You know the quality of the action here in as well, especially how is filmed there is such a visual coherence to what is happening. You know where everyone is every single moment and that is red. "We've had a really nice Email by skyscraper, actually from hardy who says, I have just had the delight of what. Ching skyscraper. The third addition to the wall that west the dude, we'll never see new tune action movie. Well, he franchise. I would like to start by saying that my friends and I only went to view this because we had no other options with both of us having seen Jurassic road full and kingdom on incredible to on with Sherlock gnomes unavailable. Yes, we to fourteen year olds were more willing to Sherlock gnomes than this foam unhappy to say, however, skyscraper completely much my expectations, an auction movie that fails to follow in the footsteps of predescessors such as diehard, which instead becomes a nonsensical movie full of coincidences coincidences inconsistencies on unoriginal characters with barely any depth. The plot of this foam was so predictable that me and my friend both monitored to work out what was going to happen in the first twenty minutes, including the final action scene itself. I doubt I'd watch it again. I'm in shock that a trilogy was originally planned, but it provided Khaleda expedience and can just be passed as an. Intentional party of diehard from hardy Threapleton age fourteen there is a trilogy planned. It'd be three different skyscrapers or the same skyscraper, three times over. Oh my God. "And she liked the way that she was like, she's kind of snarky and spunky. She had like hair like Lena used to wear and to kind of sassy girl. And I like that. And so I was kind of missing that in this moving to a little bit of their Nick the well, we got to look into your psyche with Brennan said, well, you know, I read heads, it's not very hard, the wasp. In Atlanta wasp is not the same characters, the waspy and the the one that she liked, but her name is the one that she will. Those ex-girl quantum physics girl would be would qualify as the one Lena likes. Evangeline Lilly is their daughter. So I know it makes the same. Yeah, like Janet is the one that Lena likes. Yeah, but even then like she's young in that cartoon like she's not like in this one, they made Hank Pym and them older? Yeah. Yeah. So that's like the, I like the first duration of her, so it gets all weird. I mean, this really wildly time you went? Yeah. I mean, it's funny, but like she loves the character. She likes her lot and and I mean, she sent me a link like today that was like, this is the costume that I wanna make this kind of the pattern in the way that I wanna make it. So. So I guess that's why I gave it a four is because. Like I know that hope isn't the same character, but that's, you know, she she, she would be a lot more like Scott, I guess in that in that sense, I guess their roles have reversed in this show like the ant man and the wasp that I know the wasp is the one that's like, come on, you stuffy Hank Pym. Let's go and like have some fun and Hanks like, no, I created Altron and I'm got to save the world. And so they've swapped roles in this one. That's kind of a cool thought. I can see where you go in there. Hope and Scott's dynamic is opposite to Hank and Janet. That's yeah. So although some looking at the credits on our, the cast. Michelle Pfeiffer is cast as Jan van dines last wasp, but Michael Douglas is not cast that man. Interesting. It's funny because she is just she's in. She's wasps just as much as he's a man in that movie. Me. Although for some reason she's not there's no quantum physics girl. So. You know what we should add that on. I am db. I like Janet. I can't believe that couldn't remember name. It's been a while I saw this opening weekend. This was one of those movies that I was like, okay, babysitter. I planned it out. I got the babysitter. You know, I made the effort. It was like, yeah, I wanna see this. And then I've seen like three movies since then. So. Let me ask you this, the villain on this movie, the ghost she's I don't know. Very different than the villain in Lanman movie. Did you like it? Did you not like it? What did you think. I. So my thing with ghost was she wanted, they wanted to get the. They wanted the same goal of getting Janet out of the quantum realm. They kept insisting on stealing the tunnel. I went over to my buddy and like, wouldn't it been easier to kidnap Janet later. Like, hey, she's out great. We're going to kidnap you now. I think instead of forcing that I'm sure there's some science. It was like, why they they both want her out except more timetable. Moore's gonna die table is timetable to later. She goes to know about the timetable till later. So morpheus though was talking about taking the quantum energy out of her when they did that. It was wall. She was still in the quantum zone or whatever it is. Thank you and I don't know phantoms quantum zone something. I think shadow zone the shadow knows, but the ISIS slippery. So Goliath, he had to. He had to get the here to get the quantum energy wash you still in there, I'd buy that and NSA. That's why they go back. That's why Scott had to go back to. Yes, because she they couldn't take it out of her..

"Hi everybody i'm peter travers welcome to popcorn where we tell you what's happening at the movies and there's no movie now except aunt men and the wasp that's just it and this is a history making movie in a way because the waas my guest eventually is the first will woman to ever ever name in the title of a movie hey was that in the contract it was brits it's pretty amazing they didn't put it my contract it actually was something that i i knew i would take on the mantle of the waas when i signed up for the first gay man i mean i read the script and at the end of the script she gets the suit and says it's about damn time but what they kept secret and they didn't tell me and didn't reveal until like we were well into pre production on man and the wasp was that her name would be in the title and so they sent me they sent me the title card as surprise so would you eventually explain for those benighted so tools out there that still have no idea what the marvel universe is or what ant man is or anything who your character hope van dyne actually is who is this woman first of all i was one of those people years ago i was when marvel i approach me to engage about the dialogue on you know if i would like to be a part of the atman film or if it would interest me i actually felt like no it probably wouldn't interest me because i'm not into superhero movies i'd never read comic books it's just not my jam and then my manager was like hang on a minute hold the phone let me let me give you a little education like these guys are doing something really special and really cool and so then i went educated myself i watched a bunch of marvel films and was like oh damn straight they're doing something i wanna be part of it i think about six that's pretty good i know i did quite well because i don't usually watch a lot of movies in one weekend i think i managed to get through about six which is a lot for a mother of two tried to mother of two has an excuse not to watch all twenty yeah but my character hope van dyne is in the original comic books she is janet van dyne and hank pym are married couple there the original founding members of the avengers they're very important features in the comic books for the vendors and my character was fabricated for the atman movie her name is hope and dine she took her mother's last name because she had major emotional issues with her father after her mother's death and she's a highly intelligent highly driven very disciplined scientists who also happens to be an expert in moyed tie and also happens to be an expert in controlling and also happens to be able to create amazing super suits and fly around and beat people up so you had all those talents to do someday said let's cast eventually because she can do this and physics all of that has nothing to her of course i mean i was a little over qualified to be on my flying skills were off the charts and you know i had to sort of decide whether or not it was willing to dumb down my talents in order to do that without giving away the store which you won't do because i know what happens if you say anything that marvel doesn't like yeah we just this whole stage just opened up and swallowed we get swallowed in terms of doing exactly and by the way i'm used to this level of national security because it was being you you can never talk about when was there you couldn't say word or they would execute now and then you decide to hobbit which the same yell security lost i had to have a lock box attached to my front door just so i can get scripts delivered.

"That's like a whole thing but ultimately if you liked the first one this looks like a way bigger version of the first movie in terms of also learning this is the first movie of to show you have to figure out how we're gonna make how we going to make the effects look how are we going to figure out giant nan how are we gonna have the interplay between the characters and it's like they learned from civil war information man what they what audiences like what they can do and it's on full display in in the trailer yeah i just love the action scenes both the scale i think that like that she sequence oac and the trailer like with the it's the dealing like miniature to totally mexico and also here evangeline evangeline lilly looks like a complete bad ass in this movie and makes horrib you'd think you make paul rudd looks like amateur hour evangeline vange lean looks like she's a professional kick ass criminal you know takedown person look great nothing oposite that the next thing they showed was i'm scenes feature at on christopher robin which gave us a better look at this fish out of water story where it's like push robin is an adult in it takes who in the friends to london shitty out of a hundred acre wood it looks interesting i'm not quite sure who this movie is for why i think it's core kit i think i think it's partly for kids because it's going to have animated characters and also for you know adults that are trying to remember their childhood so it's one of those feelgood kind of films but the footage we saw very rough in an antibiotic form at times and it was just like more behind the scenes footage rather than like a full on trailer up huge mcgregor fan and it'll be it'll be interesting to see and there's been a trailer out there but it looks kind of you didn't know like appealing to kids like as a kid i would be like said about this edition of pu think animated movies the once you put disney animation winnie the pooh everyone's going for for family i mean i'm interest so there you go the next up is a movie i'm not interested in that isn't that cracker and the four realms they have feature at short for people that don't realize.
