"I'm doctor Anthony Liz, and this is climate connections. When meteorologists report that a category four hurricane is on the way, people know it's dangerous, and they need to prepare. A new bill could make California the first state in the nation to categorize heat waves in a similar way. The proposed legislation is based on a recommendation from the California climate insurance working group, which was convened by state insurance commissioner Ricardo Lara. This is personal for me. I grew up in East Los Angeles with no air conditioning. He says extreme heat can be dangerous, especially when people can not cool off at night. We know that a record number of people are hospitalized and actually die because of extreme heat. We really need to be more serious about communicating that risk. Lara says naming and ranking heat waves would help the public better understand the scale of the danger, and it could prompt specific recommendations. For example, a heat wave warning could urge vulnerable people like the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses to decrease physical activity outside. Or it could prompt cities to open cooling centers, so people can stay safe even as global warming brings more extreme heat. Salem Radio's Dennis Prager on the Importance of Talk Radio
"Have written an amazing piece on your 40th anniversary of talk radio on the things you have learned in those four decades, 5 big lessons. I want to talk about a couple of them, but first, it's not in the article, but you told me how it all started and this peculiar weekend show where you had guests from different denominations. Will you tell us about that show at the beginning, Dennis? Because I love the concept. I began radio at the 32, I think 30, 34 years of age. And it was a blessing changed my life, obviously. There was an extremely popular show in Los Angeles on the ABC radio station. And I mean, so popular that eventually it became the most popular show in Los Angeles, despite the fact that it was broadcast on a Sunday Night, the least likely time for people to listen. But it dominated radio. It was called religion on the line, and it was dominant before I became the host. I just increased it, but I acknowledge it was I knew about it because everybody knew about it. A priest a minister in a rabbi would appear different ones each week, Catholic Protestant Jew, and the host. The host that I that they were thinking of letting go was secular and anti religious. And they were looking for a new host. I don't know if that was the reason, but they were. And by sheer good luck, my name was brought to the general manager of the station. And George green was a legend in radio and for whom I have only deepest gratitude for my life's journey, so he told this woman Roberta Weintraub May she rest in peace. The head of education in Los Angeles said, I need somebody who knows religion knows how to speak, but it's not a clergyman. And she said, I can't believe you're asking that. I just heard this kid at this Jewish institute here in Los Angeles. I went for a weekend there. I heard him lecture, he's terrific. And they said, oh, good, let's try him out. And in the middle of the show, the program director slipped me a note, I wish I had, I still had it. It changed my life. Tell them you'll be on next week.

Vin Scully's Voice Will Live On
"I want to speak about a man who just in a short period of time that I've been researching him is, in my opinion, one of the greatest voices of sports entertainment, one of the great, greatest voices, period. Someone who has a parent integrity, people love him. I can tell you what, when I was growing up, I didn't hear about him because I never watched baseball, but listening to Larry elder and people on the staff who are from Los Angeles, they tell me that Vince Scully was such an incredible man and has an incredible legacy and for those of you who may not know Vince Scully Vin Scully passed away, I believe he passed away last night. And I'm going to read a little bit of information about him and it's just that he was a Hall of Fame broadcaster. Whose voice provided the soundtrack to the summer while entertained, entertaining and informing Dodger fans and in Brooklyn in Los Angeles for 67 years. And he says he died Tuesday night as the team said, he passed away at the age of 94. So I want to play a couple clips just in memorial of Vince Scully and just to show my respect to him and a lot of my listeners that live in California that probably are familiar with him. Also, all around the country, I want to show my respect. So we'll play a couple clips from Vince Scully so you can get the normal little better if you don't already know. Wrote a clip. The only thing that helps me go in 67 years, as I said last night, is the grace of God. Let's face it. And that's out of my hand. The lord has blessed me. He gave me this job at such a youthful age, and allowed me to live and do it 67 years. What am I going to say? Darn it, why didn't I get number 68 or anything like that? No. I am totally at ease, I am so thankful, grateful. I've enjoyed every minute of it, believe me. Every minute.

"Angeles, all you listeners if you're Mandy Moore's publicist is here, like this is her in a bottle and will send it to her. Yes, and it's really cute. It's very, very pretty. And I know exactly what look that she was inspired by. Yeah. We manifest this partnership. This ambassadorship. Yeah, Mandy. I feel like, you know, we're gonna be good friends. Anyway, but so the morning product is 2% salicylic acid primer. Now, when it comes to salicylic acid, you need a higher concentration to be effective. A lot of the products have low concentrations and the majority of products that have 2% really are spot treatments. So this is an ultra light gel. And it truly has a primer consistency. It's really slick. It's designed to be used in the morning. Of course, you can use it at night if you're going out, but your last step under sunscreen or makeup. And it does double duty. Of course it prevents breakouts, treats breakouts that you have, and at the same time minimize the shine and blurs the pores. Oh, okay, so this would be like a good primer for when we were talking about summer makeup, Sarah, keeping your makeup on, there was like a step, which was like use the primer. Totally. And I feel like also, you know, unisex, like this would be a great product for men too. Yeah, and I want to make sure it's clear. You know, we are not calling this hormonal acne treatment. We're not calling this female acne. This is for adult acne, whether it's the individual blemish, occasional breakouts, or more persistent acne, and definitely can be used across or for men and for women. But if you just look at the numbers, there happen to be more women that are suffering. Okay, so the second product that we have is the daily leave on acne treatment mask. And this uses as an active ingredient, 2.5% micronized benzoyl peroxide. So two comments here.

And that's really hard because typically it's 15, 15 Melrose. Oh, sorry, 15 Melrose, because typically it's either way too yellow or way too red when it comes to my foundation. And I always kind of have to like bronze my neck or something. And in this case, no, I'm going to straight up put it on. Yes. And it looks like my second skin. Yes. And you know what I appreciate about the reason why it matches so well is because Amy worked with real makeup artists to help develop these shades, which I feel like sometimes brands forget to do. Like they forget to consult a makeup artist, which seems like obvious, but it's not. So that's one of the reasons why this product is so successful that it continues to be sold out all the time. The fact that it has the national eczema association seal of acceptance is really big. It's great for all skin types, all sensitive skin types, alcohol free fragrance free, and you know, you got your sunscreen on. We all, you know, obviously, we always preach that here, some protection is important and key. We love a coverage product that has the SPF in it. That's not gonna irritate our skin that's able to work and match with all skin tones, so it's a winner. It's a winner in our books and it's an official Los Angeles winner, so. And I think, too, because there has been so much sunscreen drama the past year, having sunscreen launch that has people actually excited again is really important. There was just so much drama in the SPF category. And then it was going south. People are like, I'm not wearing sunscreen because people were losing their minds. I don't want to die. Yeah, yeah, we're like, you're not. You just need to wear the sunscreen. Also, just a note when this product was announced, they had a 2500 plus person waiting list. So people wanted it. They wanted it and they wanted it bad. Okay. The next category is. For the brand that made the biggest difference in your routine, the real results brand nominees are beauty stat. Doctor Dennis gross, droplet, new face, the ordinary, Paula's choice, peach and lily, Renee rouleau, Shawnee Darden, and virtue labs. And the award for the real results brand. Goes to. The ordinary. Hi, this is nicolette and cofounder of gassy and creators of the ordinary. And I am so so excited and honored to win the award of the real results from the year at Los Angeles. It's one of our favorite beauty podcasts and any award that's really voted by listeners just so special to just a huge thank you to everyone who loved our brand who used our brand and has taken the time to vote for us in this award. I really miss this kind of being America being in LA so I hope to get to see lots of you soon and just a huge thank you to the ongoing support. That's a very easy mix. I didn't know where this was going. Same, I can't even remember who I voted for to be honest. I have this note from Stephanie, who is from California, but now lives in Virginia. She says, I love the pod. I have learned so much, especially love the glossary episodes where you cover ingredients all we need to do to those a couple more of those soon. That's where my favorite skin care brand comes in. The ordinary. I'm on a budget, but have been able to try things that you mentioned that have dramatically changed my skin. I especially love the episode on lactic acid. I was able to try it from the ordinary and it gave my dull textured skin new life. I've tried and loved other products from them, but special shout out to their lactic acid serum. I love that I can try products from the ordinary, and if they don't work out for me, I'm not heartbroken over the money I've spent. I was recently looking at pictures from this June and my skin looks completely transformed. I give your pod and the ordinary all the credit. Oh my God, we love to hear it. Oh my God, I'm so happy for you, Stephanie, I'm so happy for your skin. Thank you for sharing that with us. Okay, wait, there's one more positive review from a listener. All she says is that her name is C from New York, and she says, the ordinary, niacinamide 10%, it has completely changed my skin. And I first heard about it from this podcast, so thank you so much. The podcast is one of my faves, you girls are amazing and inspiring. Thank you for being such powerful women. Oh my God, thank you. I'm literally searching the form where people could respond at the end on my browser. Oh, I didn't know that you could even do that. Yeah, so I'm just searching like the ordinary. So I have no idea what people are saying when I pull these up. So I'm not just sharing these to pat ourselves on the back. So, so sweet. Thank you, C from New York. We'll be back with more winners from categories like favorite guest episode, favorite skin care educator and more. So stay tuned. Hey Kirby and Sarah, this is Gina from Toronto. Just wanted to say how upset they are with both of you and the podcast honestly this year actually all the years have been really tough since COVID started and you guys are like the brightest spot in my week literally can't wait for two days and Fridays. No one talked to me while I'm listening just as best feel like you guys are best friends. Can.

"And vacation Inc and let me open my fake envelope. The award goes to play. I mean, deserved. Thank you guys so much. Oh my God, oh my God. This is got him died, the founder and CEO of amigo and I couldn't be more excited to win new brand of the year, especially having you guys vote over 2000 votes. I can't believe it. I'm super excited. We have so much more to do and to give the world. Thank you for letting us your ears, your heart and your love and your face is your beautiful faces Amy Cole. We have so much more to do and celebrate. Thank you so much for improving. Y'all heard Giada on the podcast and we freaking love her. She's really just been killing it this year. I saw a tweet from her recently that was like, I now have like a multi-million dollar brand and I started from literally nothing. So go off, get your bad girl. I hope you go buy yourself a Chanel and get a bomb massage. Go on a vacation. Yeah. Do something for yourself. You've earned it. Yes. Like everything about this brand. The branding one. So gorgeous. Number two, the fact that Giada has such a strong background in beauty too, like she knew exactly what she was doing. She knew exactly who her customer was and what they needed and she delivered the formulations are beautiful. She didn't launch with too many skews. It was just the right amount. They're so beautiful and so, so good. They do not disappoint. And also like pretty affordable for like a luxury beauty product. Yes. So the brands three products that they first launched with, all award winning, the lip oil, the skin tint, and the highlight award winning. They later added the lash amplifying mascara, which is my personal fave. It is currently my mascara of choice. I have talked about this on the pod before. We've had Giada on the podcast. If you haven't listened to her episode. And what I really love about this brand is that it is a focus on quote unquote melanin rich skin, right? But it caters to every skin tone, the foundation of the brand is to bring joy. So that's why it's packaged in the bright orange. That's why the accent over the E is actually a smile and I think that it really just perfectly puts everything together. So congrats to Amy Cole, not the first award they've won, certainly not the last, but definitely one of the best brands of the year. Refinery, we awarded the skin enhancing tint. I like talked about it on KTLA. I feel like at this point, people in my think that Giada is paying me slash us. But it's just that good. It's just that good. The next category is favorite celebrity beauty brand. The nominees are. About face, Fenty beauty, flower beauty, happy dance, honest beauty, human race, key soul care, Cora organics, pattern beauty, and rare beauty. And the award goes to. Rare beauty. Beauty. Shocker. Color me shocked. Hey, Los Angeles. This is the daily mail's global makeup artist at rare beauty and we are so thrilled we won an award. Thank you so much. Not only did Selena create amazing and easy to use products, but she also wanted to create a brand that can truly make a difference. And we can't do that without you. So thank you so much. We love Los Angeles and thank you again to everyone who voted. Rare one by a landslide. We've mentioned this before. This is why you start a celebrity beauty brand because the fans will show up, especially the selenators. This particular winner had the largest winning margin of any of the categories. I mean, it wasn't even close to be quite Frank. The jump was large. And the other nominees are really good. Yes, agreed. I love every single one of these brands. So the selenators came out in full force and honestly before the selenators found the awards. It was already winning. So we know that the glam gelinas love rare beauty, the brand was started in 2020. And one thing that we do love about it is that it spotlights mental health as a priority initiative with the creation of the rare impact fund, which sees the branding donating 1% of all sales to the fund to ensure everyone has access to mental health resources. Sarah, what's your favorite way of beauty product? I love the lip souffle. Is that what it's called? And the blush. Rare's blush is so good. The blushes, I think are the standout from the brand, but I'm not talking about the liquid blush. I love the cream. Yep, the cream blush. That's what I was envisioning in my head. I love the pods. I also really like her brightening primer. I put it on my neck. Very sexy. And I also really enjoy using her skin setting mist. Okay. Way to go. Congratulations. We love you. Congrats Selena, Selena. And thank you to all the selenators. We hope that you stay, listen to our episodes and beyond just participating in voting for rare beauty. Enjoy. The next category we have is for best beauty innovation. The nominees are. Do skin forever IM asks, droplet, hero's skin, opte precision, skin system, revlon oil absorbing volcanic face roller, tower 28 sunny days SPF 30 and vacation Chardonnay oil. And the winner is tower 28 sunny days SPF 30..

"On their favorite beauty brands, influencers and products of the last year. But first, a word from our sponsors. Welcome back to the Los Angeles awards. Say hello to your hosts, Kirby Johnson, and Sarah tan. It's the first ever glos Angela wars. We're kind of dressed up. We're kind of dressed up. I have a sparkly headband and glass Angeles march on. So that's me dressing up. I have a glossy or a sparkly blazer on. With some lipstick. I love it. I love it. It looks like you're about to perform a number in Vegas. Yeah, like you're here for your residency. Great, that's the only life I aspire to live, frankly. So we love to see it. Britney, Celine, Adele, Kirby. Why is it the first person I thought of was the comedian from hack? I literally just went straight to Jean Smart. I'm like, if that's the life of me to live, then perfect. She's living a good life. She was, she was. So we're so excited about this awards show because it's not a Kirby and Sarah thing. It really is the glam Julio community. You guys hear all about our faves all year long. Yep. I'm excited to hear what our glam Julien's love. Yes, and so we asked y'all for your thoughts and suggestions on nominees. Those were very obviously taken into consideration when we formatted all of the categories and who should be a part of them. And then game time to vote and we had over 2000 glam janos sign on to a Google form and vote. You know how hard it is to get people to do that? It really is hard, it's hard. And they had to answer every single question. They had to vote in every category. It's not like you could just vote in one and exit. You had to engage commit. I mean, thank you. Okay, without further ado, here.

"I feel like I've gotten back into the Thanksgiving Day parade. It's just, it's such an American thing. Like it is. You have to engage. I love seeing our news anchors from like today or Good Morning America. Like Al, walking around with the big Al Roker, yeah, I was like, okay, I've been doing this way too damn long. I'm having to corral a fucking suit up in the air. But like he does it. He does it and he doesn't complain. And I respect it. I'm Kirby, and I'm Sarah. Welcome to Los Angeles. Every week we break down the most important beauty news and launches, interview your favorite beauty experts, influencers, and celebrity guests, and review our favorite beauty products of the moment as your beauty editor BFFs from the beautiful and great city of Los Angeles. Welcome glam Jelena. We hope you stay awhile. Thank you. That's cute. Happy almost Thanksgiving. Kirby. Happy almost Thanksgiving. I can't believe we're here. It's a turkey day is upon us. Okay, this is a controversial question, Sarah. What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of this conversation about how turkey is not it for people. And I really feel like it's because they haven't had good turkey. There's a lot of bad dry turkey, floating around, out there, and like, for this reason, my sister, Janice, who is.

"We hope you stay awhile. Thank you. That's cute. Kirby, can you hear me better? I was so curious what happened because it sounded fine when we were recording. And then when I got the edit back, I was like, what's happening here? I was listening and I was like, why do I sound so far away? And it's because I did not plug my microphone in everyone into my laptop because we recorded on Friday when I got back from Paris the night before and I was so jet lagged and I forgot to plug my microphone in. So apologies for the technical audio difficulties but we are back. We are back. We're back and better than ever. Back in black, if you will, because we're ready. To talk black Friday. Yes, we are. I can't believe I feel like we are just talking about Black Friday in a way. Right? Time flies when you're in a global pandemic. I guess. Yeah, I don't freaking know. Time for it. And yet it stands still. But this is a very exciting time on Los Angeles podcast because we get to just keep talking about all the things we want to buy. Yeah. And all of our favorite products. Yes, so we wanted to do our annual Black Friday episode. We are splitting Black Friday and cyber Monday, although I will say this, depending on how many cyber Monday promos are different, we may not have a separate episode for that. We'll just refer you all to this one. But we're often asked like, what should we buy? What should we not buy? We're going to go through. I mean, this document that we have has hundreds of brands that are doing something for the holidays and specifically for Black Friday cyber Monday. So we wanted to kind of lay out a few brands and products that we think you should take a look at purchase or good for gifts or good for yourself. And yeah, because otherwise you could just read. We could literally just post this. And you could read it. And we are going to let you do that, like last year. Although last year, I have to change the settings, because last year, people were making suggestions, I'm like, no, no. You get to edit our documents. I was like, mail fun. This is being published but not like professional published. I don't need you to let us know that we have a typo. Thank you for that, though. Super cute, but no. We love to see it. Buddy. Thank you guys. Thank you. So we'll post this on our website so you guys can check it out..

"You'll tell if it's dull. You know like any razor you need to swap it out. I tend to think like after four to five uses. You wanna swap that out so depending upon how often using it is how much you want to replace it. O- on that note. Like how do we disinfect. Like is there something. We need to do to disinfect. After each use. I just keep a bottle of regular rubbing alcohol. What if you know seventy percent or whatever. It is or ninety percent in a spray bottle in my bathroom. And so i just spray it in the wipe it off with towel in the catholic on so yeah it's pretty simple to keep them clean and then yeah just make sure you're storing it with cap on and not unlike a makeup drawer with a bunch of junk in it. Oh my god can you imagine not storing it with the cap on. That is chaos. That person's chaotic chaotic person. You're asking for bad news. Am i gonna get stabbed today. We don't know stabbing the infections. Like god oh my god okay. Sarah take it away. We have one last question for you. Miss carrie benjamin. You're going to be in a big blockbuster movie. You got billboards. All over. Los angeles with your face sonnet. Who is your co star in this movie who is next to you on this big billboard on sunset boulevard first of all it would definitely have to be some type of crime drama. Because i'm a junkie genre. I can probably tell you. I can tell you what i would like to act in some terrible with like honestly i live in los angeles. But i'm not like a super dialed in the entertainment industry. But i mean. I don't know the first person that comes to mind is bradley cooper. So i'm gonna go with that he's accomplished. We love to see it. Sarah and i are capra coins. But do you know that bradley cooper voices rocket the raccoon in guardians of the galaxy..

Africa question actually. Don't know okay. I'll say this person is an actress. Should never been on the podcast before. She's very very los angeles however she's more known for not just her beauty and skincare products but like the brand that she is built around it. I'm giving up giving up. its gwyneth. Paltrow oh oh my god. Wow it's hard. there's so many. It's hard i was not even. Okay okay. i should have gotten it when you were like the brand around the products not actually the products but like that could also mean anything. That could mean anything. I'm taking notes. I literally like riding down. so gwyneth. Paltrow is revenue. It was forty five million dollars. Okay yeah so great good for you. Okay number nine. This is another actress turned beauty brand founder. She also does a lot of other things. She has her own show. She's got A magazine which i learned recently drew carey more. Yeah flower beauty. Flower beauty is number nine flower above goop. I know is that crazy. Wow okay all right. Drew we see you but barely fifty million. Maybe it's like having your products in walmart. Totally appeals to the masses. Yeah yeah you're right. You're right more approachable number. Eight former gloss angeles guest. We are both huge fans of her brand. Selena gomez selena's at number eight. I know i know. I know i'm actually shocked. She's on this list. Just because this brand is literally gonna be a year old a year old. Yeah yeah so. She's a very promising future. Sixty million dollars. Okay number seven. We've already uttered her name on this episode But not about her beauty. We talked about her other venture at the top of the show. Oh bobby brow. No other higher on the top of the show. Like very get go. Oh kim kardashian. West yuck ak beauty number seven while i mean a hundred million dollars i'll get hold on hold on hold the phone. Can i say that kylie's number two not number two but she's on the list. Okay okay okay keep going. So we have seven k. k. W. sixes cindy crawford number five. Okay five like. I would not have considered this person a celebrity and to put them on this list. But for whatever reason cosmetics has okay. He has his very very controversial very problematic. Oh jeffrey star yeah. Jeffrey store is not a celebrity. Not a celebrity wisey on the list number five. This is absurd okay. A hundred and six million five hundred thousand okay. Okay number four. I'm actually surprised that she is as high. She's got a lot a little monsters to think. How.

"Okay hi guys. It's kirby so i was in i will i was in i was perusing the glossy angeles clams lino facebook group. Which by the way if you have not joined it is a ball and you all are giving such amazing recommendations so saremi kinda just liked to be little lurker. We don't tend to chime in there. But that being said i saw discussion about retinol and somebody also asked about apostrophe so now i'm like okay. We have to talk about apostrophe in the facebook group because this is incredible. So if you're not familiar with apostrophe first and foremost we have a discount for you so if that doesn't get your ears perked up i don't know what well but apostrophe is a service where you get connected with a board certified dermatologist and it's all virtual soon have to worry about going into an office. I know sometimes you know before. I meet with professional. I get kind of like these anxious. Nerves like what are they gonna say. Or what are they going to think they. It'd be really overwhelming. This is all virtual and you really take everything into your own hands so you'll start by signing up you begin your visit. You fill out your medical history. You talk about your skin goals and then you will take some photos some self fees which. I'm sure all of you are very well acquainted with and you'll send them over and board. Certified dermatologist will be paired with you and based on your skincare goals your medical history and the fees. They will offer you up different prescribed. Skincare options that could be topical treatment. That could be an oral treatment like a pill so if you are saying hey maybe i want my fine lines to look less. Visible they may prescribe you tretinoin retinol. There's so many different options when it comes to apostrophe and yaldo i've been talking about apostrophe since the beginning of the year even probably longer than that they are a partner and sponsor of los angeles. And that's because sarah. And i truly love and appreciate this platform. We think it's democratizing prescription skin care Which works for so.

"Bff's from the beautiful and great city of los angeles glam. Joey knows we hope you. Stay awhile kerr. We have question. Yeah what's up. Someone sent me a skims gift card on. No if you got it to did you get it whoops. You don't need it. You have everything in the line. But what do i buy. Wow wow wow. We're going to offline. Who sent you this. Because i have some bones to motherfucking pit. Yeah y'all don't even understand how much money i've spent y'all when i do paid partnerships with people. It's usually brands reaching out to me. I'm not saying that to like gloat. I'm literally just like. I don't have the drive to reach out to brands to partner with now what you should well. I have one time to skims. I literally like signed up on their website. There's an influence or tab where you can go and sign up. You were deny eight. Yes i have sung skins praises. So here's what you need to buy. Yeah what do i need. You absolutely need to buy from the everybody collection. It feels like fucking butter just all over your titties your underwear so so good. Okay i get the body suits. I like the square neck. Bodysuits super flattering. And i have like four different shades of that particular body suit their thongs tag and i don't know if we've talked about this by notoriously anti thong but like i'm totally fine with thongs from skimps. I think we've talked about this. Because i am very much like a song person even even when i was like in the height of pregnancy. For whatever reason. I just feel claustrophobic. When my ass is covered is weird. How much money did you get though. I don't know yet. Because i don't know how to check it. If it's like one hundred dollars you're probably only going to be able to get to things like shipping and taxes. Okay yeah. I'm sure it's around that dollar amount so it really depends. I personally love sleepwear. okay So i personally like to go for like the boxers like the boxer briefs that she has like anytime. There's a new color way in the boxer. Briefs situation i buy it just because is it like a high waist and it's like a comfortable band yes it's like an elastic band super soft. There's like the cotton collection and then there's the oh my god i'm blanking. I love that you just pulling the cadillac out of your mind. The one thing. I always tell people when they message me because i have a highlight on my page on my instagram. That's like go through this to see like how to order properly. If the material is loose you need to go down in sizing because this is definitely vanity sizing okay. You know the vellore collection that she did. I ordered a hoodie. A top and the bottoms..

"To face came out with a bunch of brow products. I was also very impressed with their latest offerings. Okay so these launched this month. And i like all the products. I love the paw made in a pencil. It looks like a pen. it's ergonomic like it has a little heart at the end so it's kind of a triangle. So they try to make ergonomic for your fingers so unlike a brow pencil dot you know is meant to give you those hair strokes. I like this because it really is just about filling in bald spots. Which is my biggest problem. And sarah and i were talking about this biggest problem. Yeah exactly like. I just wanna fill in the bald spots. I actually don't want my brow to look super put together in tailored anymore. I wanted just to look really natural and fluffy and all that good stuff and I love the coasts products. Like we've laxed poetic about the coasts brow stuff like it's so so good i also turned my mom onto the coast is brow product. So yes janet like she to support a by more but this poem made it fills in nicely. You don't have to use a ton of it. It looks very natural on it comes a boatload of colors and it just gives the brow the shape that you want without having to be this like very structured brow situation that can be a little bit overwhelming with a pencil. Yes sir we're talking about this before we got on. And i don't want to speak for sarah. I personally cannot emulate brow strokes that stay all day like i can do it at the beginning of the day but then as the day wears on it starts to move with starts to bleed kind of like it just becomes more fuzzy than precise yeah. It's really really hard lake. Only jared bailey can achieve those really fine strokes with a pencil on me. I don't know if i'm just too aggressive or heavy handed or if it's just the wrong pencil that i'm using but i agree that the palm made and a pencil. It makes it very effortless to do your browse

The industry responding kind a lot of times when people talk about black people. It's always like oh the struggle. Oh the pain old. The hurt at all of that is true. We suffered so much but there's also joy as owen of color. Sometimes when you are the only person in the room you can feel like you're small you can feel like your voice doesn't matter what you have to say doesn't matter since as you need something to say all right. Yeah but kelly. Your voice matters. I'm kirby and i'm sarah welcome to los angeles. Bff's from the beautiful and great city of los angeles glam juliano's we hope you stay awhile. Rescue happy friday. We are so excited about this. Week's guest. She is a friend to not only sarah and myself but a friend to all. You've probably read her work if you are a beauty enthusiast and you like reading good shit. Yup it was probably written by jessica. Cruel and jess is our guest today. She's just like a ball of joy. Like you can't help but smile when you talk to her. Her joy is infectious. And we have our on because she recently launched a destination on. Lor called the melanin. Edit you guys may know that today is friday. June eighteenth and tomorrow is juneteenth and we wanted to celebrate that in a beauty centric way and we thought the best way to do. That would be to have jess on to talk about this new destination for loehr as kirby said even if you didn't realize you're reading just crawls work you probably wear because she has been working in the beauty editorial space for a decade now and she has worked across a bunch of different publications. So let me just read you. Her bio jessica cruel is the content director at lor where she works to develop multi-platform editorial content for print digital and video platforms as well as on brand projects including the law podcast award. Blue-box subscription program and the reader's choice awards and best of beauty awards franchises and. She is going to go and talk about that a little bit in our interview. About what the best of beauty. Awards entails as kirby mentioned. She recently created the mountain at it. Which is why we have her on today. And it is a destination a platform to explore every facet of melanin rich life from providing historical context to the most innovative treatments for hyper pigmentation to the social and emotional realities all while spreading black pride and celebrating black joy prior to a lawyer. She was the deputy director at refinery. Twenty nine she has also held editorial roles at self magazine pop. Sugar where she met kirby and new york magazine. And like curry's edgy. is just a joy so knowledgeable. Such a true true expert. And i'm thrilled that we are finally having her on as a guest. You geyser in for a treat. My gosh this is so awesome. Because i feel like i always kick things off like this is how i know this person but i feel like it's important because the beauty editorial crew is pretty small. It's not as expensive as one might think. So jess and i worked together at pop sugar and i don't think we met until maybe you had been there for. I had been there for a while right.
