"Saying you can avert a shutdown or not sir Yeah we're not going to shut the government down That makes those sense for anyone almost no one overheated I think that's a good idea Doesn't stop all you douchebags on the right from trying to do it every other week Oh my God we just narrowly averted another shutdown with these economic terrorists They are terrorists of every kind They are economic they are COVID terrorists They are actual terrorists and the case of January 6th I can't Yeah I've tried this And it does not work with Verizon at all Excuse me in a second I'm talking to black people She just did your thing as it looks like We yell at 12 Thank you She meets herself Dog I'm sorry fra Angela You were saying Beautiful I feel you know what I feel seen and listening to You know since we're talking about going back I don't know how many years with frumpy weight and whatever Crystal voices brought up an interesting thing He said were your mom's ears pierced And I said no she had those like clamps that make your ears bleed And so I have some of her ears She gave me that clamps Right But you said these were hostile Yeah my dad would not let my mom or my sister get their ears pierced until I left the house So patriarchy till Chris left for college his mother did not have permission from her I think my mom finally said I get my ears pierced That's it I know what I blame for that is segregation I'm making new holes and you're never going to see the original one What I'm sorry I think my sister actually went out to the mall and got her ears pierced despite my dad Yeah I did at the old fashioned American way of a friend and an ice cube and just stabbed me in the wrong place That's exactly how you're supposed to do it Right Exactly That's how we were taught All right I'm looking We had Glen kershner who always gives us hope for the justices coming Did you see this The DoJ has located the document known as the alternative Mueller report at officials are reviewing that for possible release sometime next year It is Andrew weissmann Apparently prepared a summary of all the work I don't know why Maybe I'm happy clappy I still have some hope that a lot of stuff is going to come out in 2022 as we were talking to Glenn about Liz Cheney just said they're going to have televised multiple weeks of hearings on January 6th in 2022 So I'm hoping that a lot of things are going to come to light and actually hopefully come to fruition in 2022 What do you think We hope so you know I want to tell you and this sounds so sad but I love many Thompson but the fact that glitz chaney is not going to let it go down And I do appreciate that you know Like she knows it feels as though she knows all of their back doors all of all of that information She has been on the inside of their caucus and their behaviors And I think that you know I am glad that we at least have her there Yeah Yeah I know I was saying I mean when we play stuff from her I'm like wow I mean she was the only one yesterday that said if Donald Trump says anything to this committee it will be under oath and all of this If he lies he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law I mean it's the thing we have to make happen Because I think we keep waiting for this third of the country or probably less than a third of the country to change their mind or listen or to have some piece of evidence sway them and that's not going to happen Right And we need to stop worrying about them and we need to stop allowing our legislators So we elected to worry about them more than the 70% of us who do believe in justice who do believe in our government and who do follow the laws And that we have to be there to compel them to actually care because right now contempt sedation all that has been in actually spoke has he actually done anything You have to take this all the way And I don't believe that Merrick Garland we have to put the pressure there because he's not going to do it Without that I mean Glen said it It is under investigation We don't know what's happening but you have to hope that these public hearings will put further pressure whether it's for a special prosecutor or what right That this will be so in the light of day Yeah go ahead I don't want them pulling this mess they pulled after they let Comey come out and bash on Hillary 'cause there was investigation And now all of a sudden we don't talk about investigations No no no because you know what they're gonna try that stuff next year because it's an election year Yeah They're gonna try saying we don't want to come out with investigations right now or we don't want to do it this right now because the election we can't let them do that We can't let them get away with that You're here again We'll be the move I believe that's why things are getting dragged out I have to say are Is to get us to that year so that they can sound like people like me or Garland can sound like he's being reasonable and he's following what used to be precedent and the traditions that we all hold are 70% of us hold dear And we can't let them do that This should be swift Like we're following the Marcus of queensberry rules and they're like MMA they're like cage match They didn't even have a cage They don't care if you're in the building They just call rehearsal Wherever Yeah I mentioned this to Glenn too that you saw this case these two African American ladies This is so despicable is I don't even know how to the two women who were Fulton county Georgia election workers during the 2020 They've done they did nothing wrong They have filed a defamation lawsuit against the right-wing website the gateway pundit Relates to false information they published that led to the women being targeted with death threats racist slurs other harassment among the first to be filed by individual election workers who found themselves unwittingly dragged on into the alternate universe of far right media that claimed and still does that Trump won last year's presidential election ruby Friedman and her daughter Wanda And you saw the clips of Trump by name personally naming them just because they saw tape of them counting ballots that they somehow said look they're doing something wrong which they weren't He couldn't use their black people counting Let's keep on allowed to cry Right Right And they feel the right to come around and intimidate That's right Okay Yeah It's your black your blackness is your wrongness That is your weapon That is the thing that you've broken the law We don't want black pastors in court We don't want black people in court We don't want black people on juries We don't want black people counting votes Why black people voting Yeah it was chilling to see the president of the United States I never know which clip that was where he was talking But he by name We think you know at least 12,000 But we think it could be 36,000 votes that she somehow put in a suitcase and you know that were for Joe Biden I mean it was completely nonsense based on nothing And they're saying at the height of the campaign disinformation at the recommendation of the FBI she fled her home and did not return for two months had a shutter business down I don't know if you heard the 9-1-1 call her people are banging on the door and she's like oh Jesus where are the.

Activist and Filmmaker Chris Rufo Talks All Things 'Anti-Capitalist'
"Welcome back to mister CRT. Chris rufo. So you mentioned some of these anti capitalists. These people who wish to destroy America tell us who they teach who they consult to and the kinds of money these anti capitalists, like Robert Angelo, Angela Davis, and Ibrahim Kennedy make. So as anti capitalist, they're doing quite well on. They Kris. Hey, yeah. Yeah, and that's really the rub, right? I mean, no one is really anti capitalist. If you look at the four remaining, the three rather remaining socialist and communist countries in Asia, you know, China is a communist country Vietnam as a continuous country. I believe it's Cambodia as the third one. They all have a smaller government as a share of DD GDP than the United States. Actually, in practice, the government of the United States is more socialistic than all of the remaining socialist countries. Everyone knows that capitalism is the great generator of wealth. And for a lot of the critical race theorists, they preach anti capitalism because it's fashionable. It's chic. It's perceived as high status, but they all practice the lives of vicious and greedy capitalists. They won't do it accumulate resources and money. They'll take money from oil companies from technology companies from everybody to feed themselves from the capitalist machine. But they justify it by saying that this is simply redistribution. This is simply taking the fruits of illegitimate capitalist capital accumulation and redistributing it to the great kind of proletariat minds that make up the Vanguard of this revolution. And if you look throughout history, the communists have always impoverished the poor and enriched the powerful. This is a thing that has happened in every communist revolution since the very first one in Russia in 1917. The cadre, the elite, the party members, always suck up the wealth and labor of their countries in order to further their political goals while impoverishing the people that they're purported to help. It's no different in the kind of hyper capitalists the United States than it is in the hyper communist Soviet Union of a hundred years

How Critical Race Theory Is Drenched in Marxist Principles
"There was a group of legitimate marxists that left Germany came to America. They found a safe haven here. They believed in economic Marxism, so they believed in their own personal opinion, the abolition of private property, the rights of the workers, all these sorts of things, and ushering in a utopia, the destruction of the American family, and they realized that bringing Marx has been communism to America has proven to be rather difficult. And so a specific thinker, if you could call them that, but he was pretty smart, strong about everything. Herbert Marcus came, and he had a disciple by the name of Angela Davis, who is a black woman communist who lives in California still. She's 77 years old, and they believe that race is the most important thing. They believe that all power dynamics are not economic. It's not about character. It's not about who you are. It's about the color of your skin. That everything around you is racist and that we must do everything we possibly can to try to organize society try to upheave the white supremacist colonialist imperialistic misogynistic bigoted culture and try to usher in some sort of indigenous people, people of color type revolt. This is where you started to get terms like people of color, minority ethnic groups, soon after you've got affirmative action, admission standards in college, all these sorts of things that came through kind of post that era. And then in the 1980s, 1990s, there was kind of a cooling off period where the predominant viewpoint I was born in 1993 was that, hey, we're not going to care about skin color. We're going to care about the content of people's character. Martin Luther King said that famously in his address at the speech of the Washington mall, and that was something that was repeated many, many times, which is, hey, it's not good. In fact, it's racist to care about people's skin color to organize them based on ethnocentric tribes. Instead, we are all made of the image of God. We are complex human beings and your skin colors, the most immaterial part of you. In fact, that is a sloppy, lazy and dare I say divisive way to actually try and say, this is the most important way to even think about your fellow human

Like I'm wearing a diaper when I have a pad on. That reminds me of giving us exactly. But the worst is when you bleed through that dance tampon and you don't expect it. It's a lot. The whole process is like, I really feel like I don't know where the technology is. I mean, I guess birth control because you can stop a Virgo job, but I don't care. So let me ask you this, have you ever had sex on your period? Yeah. Do you? They say women are who are you? I should lie about that. No, never done. But never do anything like that. I think our hormones are higher or whatever. They see women in 20 years, so it makes sense. I used to be okay with having sex on my period, but succumb to find out is against my faith. And I'm like, what faith is that? You know, my religion. What religion is against you have a sex on your period? It's a lot to explain Angela. I don't even know. I feel like it gets a lot of religion though. We could talk again. I feel like it's not just one. I feel like it's probably coming, you're not supposed to do that. It's not a period? It was always someday wasn't today wasn't quite tomorrow and and it wasn't honestly till i was so sick that i couldn't i just physics. I physically couldn't do that. That i started thinking about. Some of the questions you're describing. It was some of that. Like how do i get it. Those bigger will i have. I'm not sure. I'll have all the time in the world to get to those big questions but now that i'm a bit humbled by circumstances and you know now that i'm taking part is there a person may be. I'm supposed to that. I should be instead because not entirely sure how to live. If i'm not just doing everything that's in front of me. But i think that's why there's so much value in your work. Kate is because you've sort of been forced to think about those big questions and you can kind of take us through your thinking and your experience and then. I think that helps us to think about doing it ourselves. Yeah certainly did not want to volunteer. Unfortunately but But you but you are so good at at helping other people think through those costume. Thanks gretchen get a lot of messages from people who are just kind of simul. Were also kind of undone. Like they've lost somebody that they love or they get they lose their job. They lose a dream or there or even just like they're on a relationship ends or their kids move out and this world that they loved no longer exists and then there are so many of us are forced into a kind of reevaluation that we don't even necessarily have time
Whats the Best Advice You've Ever Received?
"I wonder what the very best piece of advice you've ever received was. Oh that's so easy. I can't believe very asking me that influence now. I really want to know the best advice i've ever received was approximately one point five years ago when an angel from heaven visited me and said stephen life is short. And if you know what's good for you you will ask angela duckworth to make a podcast with it. Most of the questions. That was not the best piece of advice you've ever received. I think it was an angel from heaven. It might actually just been our executive producer. Okay you will have to tell me the second best piece of advice i ever received then. The advice that comes to mind is something that happened. When i was quite young i was maybe eleven. Twelve years old. I grew up in upstate. New york kind of middle of nowhere and our dad had died when i was about ten and so it was rural but people really did look each other. There came to emerge a pattern. Where men who were not my father would contact my mom and say hey. Would you like me to take little stevie out for an adventure of some kind and it was almost always fishing. That's what people did so there was this one guy. His name was bernie dusk quits. He was the barber in the town and bernie took me out on a boat in this lake. One day we were trying to catch you know the big fish and we were getting nothing. We're getting no bites and this went on for like an hour. To and i was bored but i was also very polite and obedience. I didn't say like this sucks. Onboard just sat there kept fishing then it started to rain. Really hard and bernie does quits drove the boat in towards the shore under some trees to be protected from the rain and all the sudden we started catching all these fish. But they're little fish too little to keep. But i was having a blast. Then the sun comes out and bernie dusk quits pulls up anchor and drives right back out into the middle and even though i was kind of quiet and shy and obedient. I said hey what are we doing. This is the best fishing spa ever and he said these are just little fish. We don't wanna keep catching them. It's not really worth the time. Let's go catch real fish so we went back out. We never caught a real fish. We literally sat there for another two hours. Catching nothing but the lesson. I took away after much. Rumination was that sometimes it is really a good idea to go for the big fish to not be satisfied with the little easy target in front of you. Even if you spend a lot of your time pursuing the big goal and it doesn't work out and that's something that i don't know for some reason that day stuck with me long enough that i was able to process it and as an adult think about that all the time. It's one of the reasons. I really fell in love with economics. One of the central tenets of economics is opportunity. Cost right if you spend all your time catching the little fish. You won't have time or developed the technique or the patients to ever catch the big ones. I think it's the best single piece of advice that's ever been sent my way.
Do We Buy Things We Never Use?
"So angela. I have a habit. And i suspect many other people do as well of acquiring often buy purchase. What i've come to think of as aspirational objects which is to say. I will buy stuff that i think i want. Or maybe more accurately that. I would like to want but which in fact i'll never actually use so one tiny example at home. We probably have six hundred boxes of keen wa in our cupboard seen wa as far as i know we've never actually eaten keen wa at home high protein grain. It's not actually a green per se it's close to a grain. Oh is the lagoon. No it's neither to seed. I believe but that's beside the point also similarly. I have over my lifetime bought. Hundreds perhaps thousands of books that i've never read or at least not more than a few pages of i know many people who have bought closets and basi- full of exercise equipment and golf equipment and nutritional supplements in hair oil. So my question is are such acquisitions. Nothing but a waste of time and energy or is there an upside in such aspirational thinking. Even if the thought rarely translates into deed so aspirational consumerism. I mean that's a bit of national behavior. And especially the repeated part right. I can understand buying the first back of keen wa not using it and then you know whatever money down the drain but the second bag of king juan even the third now. That's that's that's interesting. And i should say just to draw the fuller picture. I do like to keep things tidy. I will go through our cupboards at home and know purge them. You'll marie condo. Yeah i'll purge so every. Let's say six months i'll throw away or donate eight boxes of keen wa her and literally eleven but then over the next few weeks you'll buy more okay so of course when you buy that next box keen wa. You don't think let me buy another box of keen wa that i can six months from donate. You're actually thinking at that moment that you're going to make the keen wa right. Oh yeah because for every box of keen wa that i've bought there have been approximately one trillion articles written about the benefits of and. I've read them all by the way it's quite good. Okay how do you know major kean. I've eaten it out but you know when you're cooking at home it's more of an investment when you're out and you say oh kean mutt. Sure all i have to do is say the word and it's going to be brought to me well here in. I think maybe is the solution to this. Least a clue. So what is it that keen wa and books and exercise equipment having common self-improvement and effort. So i think the difference between keen wall on the menu and keeping your covered is and by the ways even just have to boil it not that much effort. I know it's not a big investment but it's a big investment for the payoff for the while payoff which is small in your view.

Why Are Our Leaders Not Putting the American People First?
"Governor larry hogan the chaotic and heartbreaking scenes out of afghanistan over the last several days with innocent civilians running for their lives in fear of the taliban is the result of a rush and irresponsible withdrawal many of these afghan citizens. Our allies bravely risked their lives to provide invaluable support for many years to our efforts as interpreters and support staff and we have a moral obligation to help them for their service. These allies their immediate families are eligible to receive special immigrant visas to the united states. And we stand ready and willing to do even more. It's the least we can do. Special immigrant visas. Look they're so wonderful then. Go let angela merkel get blessed by these people. We already have simultaneous immigration crises. Happening right now you know that we just had another two million people anywhere between one point. Six to two million people come illegally into the southern border. And what is governor. Larry hogan worried about not serving. His fellow countrymen not literacy rates of black americans in baltimore not the problems of crime and now we stand ready for another twenty thousand people that don't speak our language. Interpreters they do speak your language but not all of them do. I'm sure some of their kids might not. The question is why are leaders. Not putting the american people i. It's because they really don't like their voters they don't actually they have contempt for everyday. Americans people that own firearms the people that go to church. Get governor larry hogan like many others he would much rather try to change the country because it makes them feel good because governor larry does with the corporate class tells him to do

Can You Escape a Drama Triangle?
"Angela. I recently came across. Something called the drama triangle. Also known as the karpin triangle. Since it was created by the psychiatrists stephen cartman. Can you explain the carpet triangle. And why it's worth knowing about. I find it more useful to refer to as the drama triangle. It is dramatic. And this is how i know about it stephen. It's not because psychologist. But because i run a little nonprofit called character as you know. And when i was a green leader i even in a small team had this phenomenon where one person would not like another person and then how do you make a point. The third point was me so disgruntled employee number. One would come to me. And say hey. I don't really like employee number. Two then i would say something that i thought was comforting to disgruntled employee number one but then employee number two an hour later comes into your office annoyed about employee number one this can go around and around and motions. Heighten didn't know this term drama triangle. Until i consulted a management coach. And you realize that you're in the middle of one. Yeah well i call up. This leadership coach named dustin peterson. And he says oh classic drama triangle. Little drawing like occurs you. Here's employee number one. Here's employee number two and what you never get all three people talking at the same time and you certainly never get any resolution. I also see that. The three points are assigned to particular roles which are usually called the persecutor rescuer and the victim all right. let's start with the first person who is the victim. The victim is being annoyed by the second person. Who is there persecutor. So let's say that you're the victim. Stephen always always the victim. And somebody else. I'll just see rebecca rebecca's persecuting you rebecca's annoying you cutting you off in conversation ignoring your emails. You're the victim. She's a persecutor. Can i just say for the record. Everything you're saying one hundred percent true. I'm glad it's finally coming out on the air because you know she's got this whole holier than thou fact checking thing going on related. Stevens said this wrong. Stevens said that wrong. So now you need a third person and that's me because you who are the victim. Get to complain to someone who gets put in the role of the rescuer. So victim runs to the rescuer starts complaining about the persecutor. What typically happens. Is i just kind of comfort. You disagree with you and i spoke your flames of indignation. Another day though. Maybe rebecca's the victim and you're the prosecutor roles can switch around. But i think the whole point of drama triangles is there's always victim persecutor and that creates the need for a rescuer because the victim is looking for comfort. And they don't want to go and talk to the prosecutor because why would they do that. They're annoyed that the person so they seek a third person to comfort them and then the cycle just perpetuates because the conflict the source of the disagreement or the miscommunication is never resolved because the persecutor and the victim never really actually talk.

So let's say the first time you were now because you've been wrapping, you know, and he knew who you were he know who you were before their says back in the days of sixteen. So you don't even count. I'm just like so over, you know, and a lot of the people I like so funny because I would not so people who I was in the beginning. Like, you know, like if I were, you know, Jennifer, mama first name. Yeah. Gentleman. Actually, what do you do? What do you say? Not in bitches don't do negative. Occupation. I'm sorry about marriage. That's funny. Like if I meet a guy, right? We do wanna know what you do. Joe Ryan imagine a guys like I'm the end. In. I'm like an ally. That's the first question people have like so what do you do middle? Even have a name for that filling in New York. Like, you kinda gotta go anyway. Whole scam. Find out a year later. Baby. I don't know. She. What is your name? Google. For the guy that I'm dating to be Google. And I'm gonna tell you why I'm not trying to get raped kidnap killed like I got it know who you are.
