So my for friend and a public They said that they're going to be training champion major but particularly focusing on major. Apparently he nipped somebody while they were out of the walk, and he nipped what is nipped me. Really a landscaper there the White House, So I'm just saying, you know, I just think that that's give the dog a little bit of slack, right. I need to go back up. "I know you don't want to get into specifics. But Andy Pollack who lost his daughter meadow. In parkland is a frequent guest of this show, and some of the things he's in lightness to that happened in at stoneman or that the doors were locked from the outside, and they couldn't lock the teachers couldn't lock the doors and the inside the glass wasn't bulletproof. But he said they didn't even have a safe place for these kids to go to what's Palm Beach county have. So that's really important. You know, first of all my condolences to the family of all families of all of them, stare survivors as well. I mean, this is such a tragic event, and you know, hopefully, we can learn from from the things that happen there. And so we take that very seriously. We add your. I can't get into many details, but we add to your work and going through every school over one hundred eighty school's classroom by classroom designate various for these kids to go to to know what a daunting task really is. This is a huge school district. It really is. You're in charge of a lot of it. And you know, we made a lot of progress, obviously. But you deal with this every single hour of every single working day. We're obviously dedicating today to it. But this is an ongoing thing for us. So as we go along here, we'd we'd love to get more updates from. You're you're more than welcome anytime because we have a lot of that local. Parents listening. Well, I appreciate that. It'd be more than willing to spend some time with you. We'll tell you. It's more than just the working day. Just twenty four hours a day. Proud of the men and women on the Palm Beach county school district police departments I could share with you the many things are doing. I mean, you would just be amazed. And of course, the support we get from Dr Benaroya in the school board that just. And these things are unprecedented. You know, the one other thing I want to leave you with it's really important, as you know, this is more than just the police or law enforcement initiative. And when you look at what we had to accomplish to get a police officer in every school that required. Mayors city council city, I mean, this this is just remarkable to be where we are. I'm so grateful to the relationship. So for the relationships that we have. It just continues to grow every single day. So, you know, the parents there will tell you, you know, we we we understand the importance of what you're asking us to do. We don't take it lightly. And I'm grateful for the collaboration that we get.

"And I think that when you see some of the things that have happened not just at Marjory stoneman Douglas, but to other parts of our state and country a lot of times people who are committing mass violence. This is not a secret that this is something that could happen. Governor Jan yesterday. Governor governor Rhonda's fantasy just yesterday getting it done again. Holy cow. This guy it what he always. I I have come to the conclusion you do not want to be at his bedside. I was thinking the same thing when that press conference happened yesterday. That's so funny. You say that the first thing I thought of us. Well, he's having a press conference in Broward. Again, really wonder why tuned in listen to her and say, you know, we're gonna take a look at all schools throughout the state about how they spend their money on school safety. And I went, oh, I get it run. Sees the target, and doesn't it make sense? Now, look past the past few months. Developments. How he's going about it. You know, what I mean where he's not the governor that is not going to be accused of targeting one specific principle gopher headlines. You'll say no we're looking at everybody. If you make the cut you make the cut, but if you don't. Hey, you're gone. Yeah. He well. He can't fire Runcie because run season official. He can find out other ways to get them. And he's you know, obviously, he has sat down and he's talked with members of the community in parkland, specifically parents who've lost children, and he's listen to what they've said and all of them want Runcie gone. No, I absolutely. You know, if he can't remove him he'll figure out a way to do. It just like you said he's talked to members of the community talk about a member of the humidity member of MST community. Deborah Hickson is the wife of the athletic director, critics and I'd like to thank the governor for stepping up and hearing our cries of urgency and the lack of the sense of urgency in our area. And here's the other thing too. This seems to be I don't know much beyond. We've we've talked to one the year both governor to Santa's when he was a candidate Ed Janette, Nunez, the Lieutenant governor, right? And I don't know anybody else in that whole administration who runs that whole thing. But what a well oiled machine that appears to be because every one of these press conferences, they've done there at the state and various issues like the water deal. Right. They have it set up beautifully where they talked to the right people. They bring that up on stage to the make their point. It was just like yesterday. I know it's it's a well, you're right. It's a well oiled machine his advanced team. If you would call. Writes things perfectly in order. I would assume its because the governor is probably like that. I bet you. Everything's gonna be all the ducks in a row until everything's perfect. So get it right or I'm not showing up. I would imagine. Right. So I think it all starts at the top. So he he does. This guy is done more in the first month that he's two months that he's been in office. Then I think all the other governors combined amazing, quoting, you know, replacing new judges and getting them in there. And of course, yesterday, obviously making this announcement and looking at I mean school by school all their safety plans. Also brought up friend of the show Andy Pollack he spoke yesterday to on the yesterday being the day before the one year anniversary at parkland. We don't need tomorrow. Remind us of what happened we live it every day. And and we've been fighting for Justice for murdered loved ones. And this is just the beginning. Just can't believe it's been a year. I really can't. I it's one of those weird things where it's flown by. And yet so much has happened where? It seems like it seems like ten years that flew by real fast. That makes sense. You're absolutely right. When we was you know, we've been planning this for a while. We thought that's a year. And I'm thinking it seems like it was so long ago. I know, and I don't know why it and yet it is. It's only a year it's like holy cow strain. It's it's it's a sad day for everybody in that area. Or anybody involved, you know, even remotely involved. It's it's hard to cover for us is is talk show hosts for news people. It just brings up bad things. Imagine being one of these parents, like an eighty Pollack or Nope. On any day. Or whatever. And it's it's interesting. You know, you don't hear you hear a lot from the dads. 'cause I think most of the moms can't deal with it. I would agree with that emotionally because a my child and in even though we talk for a living few if it was my child, and I had to get up until I'd lose it. And I wouldn't be able to finish the sentence. I hope none of us has to go through this. But I mean, I would imagine that we're just going to a shell. I think I don't know. I hope never find me and you both. So we will even though it's such a tough deal. Will remember parkland the one year anniversary in recognizes? But we'll also get a lot of Valentine's Day stuff to talk about. It's not going to be all to all your black American Express card. That's if you're a man, you guys really get screwed up Valentine's Day. Thank you for admitting. At least one woman in the or on earth admits it, and I think a lot of women would admit it in, but we expect it in. And I wanna know where my chocolates are. Yes. Stiff to me. What's the why? Why is everybody every woman? I know become my Valentine, my kids are like that too. There your children. What are you getting us? Something there girls. Geez. What are we spend? The what how are men out spending women? Visit the actual number two it. We'll talk about next. Remember in February.

"Those things to me that's the best thing that you can do for the folks that more necessarily with you during the election that was big day. And that's our new governor. Rhonda's fantasy was sworn in yesterday. And okay, maybe they didn't have a parade another cancel that Jen. But he had a lot to say yesterday, including that. Yeah. Right to work, and friend of the show and anytime he has golden pass to be our guest at anytime. Andy Pollack, you were there at the ceremony were you not it must have been fun. All yeah. Glorious ceremony to see all my friends up on stage at work workshop was there. Also, most of it. And it was just a great thing because we all worked so hard for, you know, the state of Florida a lot of well, we anyway, we haven't talked to you since you were pointed you're going to be on the the the the brand new board of education coming up here. That's great. Yeah. Yep. I'm excited about it. I want to do a lot for the state with education for teachers. There's a lot of things we could do I'm gonna look forward to all the, you know, putting enforcing those recommendations what put in place by the module showman, Douglas commission, and the commission and see how we could get them at force them and placed in schools. I think like Jen said, you're the only guy that has a golden ticket. Anytime you call in like, you just did a few minutes ago. We put you on because of the hard work you've done. But if people aren't familiar with you, you did lose your daughter in the embassy massacre that was there, and you fought from that moment on ever since to make those changes happen. You were the first guy thought of the very first guy when I heard the actually heard it from Fox News. I last night were they had reportedly backed off a little, but they reported that I that Scotty Israel had been suspended as Broward sheriff yesterday. They they now have that as a question, Mark. But initial thoughts reactions, what would you think I know it's inevitable? You know, they're dropping like flies in flaws. I keep calling them out. If you got a stat Josh stand both the deputy that didn't go in. He took over minutes to put his best on. I was calling him out a couple of weeks ago, they had him reassigned raunchy. So once these people are starting to resign are the sheriff's yesterday quite Nichols. His HR guy who actually overturn that committee that that allowed angel Medina to work at the gate mantra Medina was a sexual predator at the school. He was found guilty by a commission of seven professional standards committee, ended detectives and Craig Nicholls all the time that somehow Nichols was been calling him out for the last couple of months. He resigned yesterday. Once you stop guy. Wow. When does want one by one I'm going to take him down? And and I'm gonna help the community and ballots. You know, my messages, also, you know. Thirty one talks to just tell him to save us. A lot of time. Of course, it's it's only a matter of time till we get to one. And then the community could be built probably county with competent people. And we're not gonna let up I won't let up so I see that, you know, Israel's going to be gone. Then we got we got you got all Israel's top guys you're going to be going that shouldn't have been there ESL. And once these people are starting to resign. So they should just save us the trouble and lead sooner than later. So we can rebuild everything and put it make it right? So the community. And let me ask you this Andy in we I think we ask you this every time what major changes have been made to your daughter's former high school since the incident. Well, since I went to that last commission meeting. When they when they were talking about. Yeah. He he couldn't even tell them that they put the corners to haunt corners in the classrooms. That's just a piece of tape where children should go in case someone shooting through the door and that costs people's lives at Madras dome and the children get no. Was to shoot at the door. They didn't know what side of the room to go to a height. So they would be you know, they will be out of firing. That's all set do that..

"Honor for me to announce the establishment of the US space command here at the Kennedy Space Center among all of these rate airman, a new era of American national security in-space begins today. Mike Pence are the big moments today ask you this. Because there was the delay with these SpaceX does he have to like stick around to. I think he left. They wanted to stay. There are four launches yesterday. Three of which get delayed. When they're went up the Russians. I think what was the problem? It looks beautiful out was a computer is shut down shutdown this basics the one here. They're gonna try again at nine o seven. We'll be on the patio watching. We went down to the corner office down there with a beautiful view. And then all of a sudden, it's been scrambler or. Yeah. And then the one in California was crab because of weather fairly incredible Vincent, California, where they're telling people stay out of the water. They even cancelled a surfing competition because the waves are too big. Boy, how often does that happen sixty feet high weather weirding. Wow. Space command that the vice president was talking about. It's kind of like the new variation of what the president announced earlier in the year. But this has got slapped a new label on it. It's going to go to a different department. So now they've they think they can fund it. I what I think what's going to happen is it sounds more like a military department. Right. You know, then a then like another police force keeping not arts. Trump wanted a separate branch of the military. This is going to be eaten up into several branches which is easy to justify Pence bench. Was there for an it'll if it happens again this morning, it'll be SpaceX launching an air force satellite. So I a firm belief that all these satellites that have been going up which have been many over the past couple of years of the space x at least or else spy-satellite they are. So anytime you hear launch. No. It's a spy satellites the satellite for somebody to spy on somebody. So I think what they're gonna do is. Why don't they take those guys that do the sonar and the submarines? Guys and girls they look at the screens. And they can I think that's what they're gonna do. It's going to be somebody. You know, whether it's a twenty year old air force, you know, rookie or a cadet sitting in front of a screen retrained to follow the satellites and watch what's going on with them grew up on video games. Perfect job. Yeah. And they'll be they'll be a whiz at it. So I think that that's what. Because what else are they going to do if you're the space command? You're not going up in space. We don't yet. Anyway. What did we find the aliens the were many bits? Remember, we had this conversation. Nice that I could say that there meetings in their current form. Do they land on earth, and they grown at large creatures, and they hit the water and they balloon, maybe they multiply you never know. Maybe just like, it's. Oh, come on. A little bit closer to home. It was all about. Well, there were many issues the White House was dealing with yesterday. But a big part of that was school safety, and our buddy Andy Pollack and parkland, he was there assuring that in because we saw earlier today he had posted that so we up gonna happen with the school safety measure sure enough and the president took up that issue yesterday must be accountability to all levels of government to ensure communities can respond quickly and decisively to warning signs stopping tragedy strikes. So they took that recommendation. So there's nothing official yet. But he took that recommendation into account about you know. Really, the main thing is having some armed trained personnel, not necessarily teachers, but somebody there to protect kids if the situation arises, this is the main thing was pushing critical to have armed personnel.

"Dot com. Stevens back with your hoping doing. Well. Thank you so much for being here. Do appreciate it. Here's the story has got a lot of people. Shaken a fourteen year old student at a high school in California was arrested. He bought a knife. And explosive materials school. These students told him ministers that another student supposedly had a knife on campus, and they call the police cops came and they arrested the team they later found out that the student also had a gas it on him. And when that's combined with the other materials, it can create an explosive detonation fourteen years old. I mean, we making any progress in making a school safer. I don't think so. And then of course, the big debate yesterday into the evening was the judge that said the officer Scott Peterson and the parkland shooting had no constitutional. Right or not, right. What he wasn't under any constitutional obligation to go in and protect those kids and faculty which really doesn't make any sense to me because you're the one that's wearing the badger the swearing the gun and you hear gunfire. And why wouldn't you be? Why is it not part of your job to protect and serve? In this case, the students and faculty of barter Stillman, Douglas high. Actually, lost sleep over this last time because I can't believe that a judge would be so. So delusional to make a statement like this and and. It came on the heels of the judge the prior week a different judge. It said, yes, he was obligated under the constitution to go in. But but here's the thing. I don't understand what constitution they reading. It can't be the constitution of the United States because that constitution specifically says that a police officers there to serve and protect of military officers there to serve and protect. I mean, do we wanna put the we want to get to the point where we put Bill Terry officers in the front of schools? I'm thinking not. But it may be the only recourse that we have. But somebody I mean, this is going to be appealed, obviously. And then we go back and see. In fact, what exactly is going on what happened? And then we have to shake our heads and ask questions and say, you know, what what what's the story here? And it is a very big story. If you think about it. But what I heard with this? I still don't understand wish. Somebody can explain this to me. Eight seven seven eight fifty eighty five eighty five or you can text me three zero five seven zero seven seventy eight seventy eight. How is it that these single judges can actually turn over? Something that the Senate that the house that the president has put into place into law. It just doesn't make any sense to me. A how are these genders getting involved? And be how were they able to turn over something that was voted in in congress? And in this case, the constitution is it is it or should it be the job of this one judge to to take the constitution and sign for it to make a statement. Like they're saying that he was under no obligation to go in and save these students and faculty. I I mean, this is to me, this is mind blowing. This is one of the reasons that Andy Pollack good friend in the show is in Washington has been meeting with the president on making our schools safer. But what is the true answer to? We have a true answer. All we ever going to get to the point where we have a true answer. Are we ever going to have a solution? I know Andy's to talk to him coming up in about fifteen minutes to see what if any progress was made with his meetings with the president yesterday and today. I mean, it just it's so sad that we've got to have this conversation at all let alone even sadder that students have lost their lives. And this fourteen year old that was going to do the same kind of harm to students, and our faculty we don't know which could be both. Is the problem? I mean, how students able to walk into a school after I mean, we just had the sandy hook aniversary. And nothing's changed since sandy hook fact should be the most disturbing thing in anybody's mind. And I want you to think about this. And I want you to think about this very carefully before you form an opinion if sandy hook wasn't enough to make us as parents. Worried about our children in schools. I don't know what else would now, of course, parkland, which is right here in south Florida Marjory stoneman, Douglas high. And it's been almost nine months. It. Absolutely nothing has changed. How do we get a change? What do we need to do? There's a lot of suggestions. But suggestions are just suggestions. And speaking and having actual or actually something done is the true answer. Think about it. Let's take a out when we come back. We'll talk to Andy Pollack and just a few minutes. You're listening to the rich Stevens show..

Seventy eight Lantana eighty Lauderdale by the sea. Cairns writing up for the next news update luck going on over there fingers of flying. What you've got going on? Well, Andy Pollack had posted. That nNcholas crews. Are this was another thing? Yeah. Oh my God. And the county jail being held and he initially had confessed to killing seventeen people at Marci Shulman Douglas high school. He was allowed to register to vote. Okay. Please. Explain this to me. Well, he's not convicted. Yeah. As his his, right. Here's the problem, though, what they found out was in Broward. They've made sure an extra special effort did everybody being held in jail was registered his guests who they're voting for not the not the law and order, folks. But not this one he's registered as a Republican. Doesn't matter. I don't even know if you voted, but while I guess we'll know that but the stories of the website a fifty Wf dot com. And there's a lot coming up seeing a couple of minutes, south Florida morning, and we've got our election lunacy down here back to that in a second. But you gotta fuel for these people in California. My god. This was the there are a lot of social media videos, thankfully from people who actually made it out as horrific as it looked. But this was the scariest thing I have ever ever seen from a personal video this lady named Rebecca driving through. Well, she's trying to make it out of town this paradise, California. It's winds up going through a tunnel when she comes out of the tunnel. It's like she's entered the seventh gate of hell hundred car paradise. The town itself completely destroyed. There's nothing left. I mean every building every home every business destroyed. It's horrible. But it's your rate. She's like crying and praying and I'm thinking, oh my God. You can hear the embers hitting or when she. Politic. You would look at and think there's no way she's still alive. But amazingly she had to get out of the car and ran and made it through to something. It's. Really gives you a sense for how bad these fires are. I think she saw firetruck and she literally jumps out of her car and runs to the fire truck in the fire guys the fire rescue guys helper, but thirty one people so for kill to the Wolseley fire, which is near valley in southern California. Also where that border lying grilling in bar was where the shooting took place. It's right in that whole area Thousand Oaks Agora hills right there in in the Santa Ana winds, which if you've never experienced the Santa Ana winds. I remember the last time is in California with my brother they hit and they come out of nowhere. It literally blew his garage door open, and I've never seen a garage door. Get blowed open broke the lock in blue the garage door open. Really nice house. Right. It wasn't like it was some, you know, piece of crap hops. I was like oh my God like a carport. Holy cow. We're gonna talk about murders. Some of them solve some of them. Not solved. We're going to interview people like Pam Bondi. Our great attorney general's. What am I use interviewed? Andy Pollack who whose daughter was massacred into Marjory stoneman Douglas episode last Valentine's Day, and and Andy's a good friend of mine. We're going to have crazy criminal stories, and we're going to have tips and techniques to stay safe and reduce crime in the community and in your home. So we're going to wrap all this up. And the reason I agree to the podcast Brian burns, whose the publisher of the ledger said, Grady, let's do a podcast. We'll we'll run it for you. And and we'll donate a percentage of the proceeds to the charity. So that you can give back to the community. So I can't figure out a better way to do. This to be able to talk off the cuff to talk about crazy criminals to talk about how you can be safe to have a murder mystery. And the interview some interesting people and talk a little bit about myself like in the in the next few weeks back in the day when I was in high school I worked on an ambulance. I delivered my first baby when I was sixteen and I'm gonna talk about that experience. And the fact that it's scarred me for life. So we're gonna laugh we're going cut up.
