"Yankees cheated Yankee stated. Yeah, exactly. Thank you. Every bit the cheaters every bit. Every bit. Such a stop. Just stop Andy Pettitte. Well, he he should be a Hall of Famer Well and and the main argument over and over again. Well, Andy Pettitte admitted it. Shep, Is there anything you need to admit now? Because I mean, I want I want to make sure we've got clean conscience here. Is there anything you need to admit There's a lot Was a thief. I was a thief when I was a kid. Well, you know, Jake Hammond. Here's Here's the other thing. And I, you know, listen. I mean, I'm not trying to pick holes in your argument here, but Just have to understand. He was so a saleable to the media for total 20 years. It wasn't a very bonds. It wasn't a Ken Griffey so they think that is bonds, but they were very luth. They were very distant. And if Oh, yes, and that should keep you out of the Hall of Fame, right? Why should that keep you out of the hall of Fame? What does that have to do with anything? We don't live in a world where people treat others differently because relationships chicken? No, but it shouldn't matter whether you're in the Hall of Famer. Not okay. Mike. Guess what? Mike Mussina does He belong in the Hall of Fame? I don't know. He's really good guy. And I don't care who's a really good guy. I care about a Hall of fame, Not a whole of very good. That's why I call and by the way, if you cheated the game, you're not in the Hall of Fame was the catcher JK that Pete Rose ran over the All Star game. Was it Ray Ray Fosse? Fuck Ray Fosse. If Pete Rose was stand museum had that jovial type of personality had that positivity radiant all over him on a 21 year career, he would be in the Hall of Fame. Oh, I know. I believe that the No. The baseball outrage media know would would continue to would continue to make excuses for well, We can't have cheaters in the Hall of Fame. You don't think Mariana Rivera was voted unanimous because he was the most beloved pitcher in the history of baseball. I don't know where that comes from. JK marries Vera Mariana Ribera pitches one inning. Yes, Mariana Ribera Daisy's first ballot, You know that it was a favor. It was a it was an app and and again the fact that he was unanimous and, like Henry Aaron wasn't Ted Williams wasn't I mean, seriously the fact that prickly JK value exactly by this because I don't give it And guess what? I don't give a damn Who treats players nicely. I will tell you a story. I'll lay it out there because the story changed over the years. When I came to Atlanta. And being in a prominent sports talk radio role. I became a person that had very vocal opinions as you know. Bobby Cox was already established in the town long before I came here. Bobby Cox couldn't stand me. Couldn't stand me the sight of me Annoyed him. But you know what I kept doing? Kept coming around. I kept chipping away. And to the point where I a couple times, let him Tell me What he thought about my act as it was called at the time and that went away. That he didn't like. Let him have a form. We had a dialogue. And him and I ended up having a beautiful relationship. Very friendly, very cordial, very but I never once told my audience. That my opinion on Bobby Cox changed. In my opinion on Bobby Cox was overwhelmingly positive the entire time the entire time. He just couldn't stand when I would be critical of his team. Be critical. The shortcomings be critical of him, but I was rarely critical of him. He couldn't stand it because he protected his players. He protected his clubhouse. You protected us. And it all worked out. Never once not once. Did I ever let the audience know, by the way? This. The manager of the team hates me. Because you know what? The manager that the fans don't care. They shouldn't care who the medial Who? The media again. What? What coaches Nice to them, because here's what I'm gonna tell you. From my media, brother and I'm gonna tell you this right now when athletes are nice to media members. They get free passes. When coaches air Nice to play people, they get free passes. And so many media members. Cozy up like kittens in the lap of a teenage girl. You know, they just like they're like your favorite pet. They just want the affection. The fact that Derek Jeter created a website when he retired from the game. The players Tribune so the players would finally have their voice. No player in the history of sports got more lapdog media coverage than Derek Jeter. I'm surprised that the people who covered Jeter didn't get gift baskets like he reportedly gave out to the overnight guests. They all deserve them. Cause the way they treated him. The lapdog coverage that he got? No, not he was a great player. It's a great player. He's never questioned. It was never challenged Jake. He did that ancillary to the media members, and he made that clear. You know what I mean? That wasn't to replace media. No, you said enhance He no, no already covering Senate. No, he said it's time that the players had their side of the story told he's not raise, not right. He's not. You don't believe there's validity and dressed like that. I'm going to tell you this right now. The players Tribune. I will. I will ask anybody who's an executive of Players Tribune and I'll put $1000 on the table. I'll say how many players wrote the piece that appears with their name on it. And I'll tell you I don't believe 25% of them Religion. Right now. I don't believe 25% of the religion. They are so well written. And so well done. There's a ghost writer involved, which in turn takes the entire idea of the players Tribune out the window..

"In brooklyn. Hey, hey, guys. How you doing? Hi Cal at Mogollon in a while. Listen, I gotta just comment on something. It was probably a already commented many things about this item on vino thing. How does a guy comment get signed by the most prestigious world renowned sports franchise in the world get signed by nominating criticizes, the most iconic baseball figure getting defend himself, obviously. But instead of concentrating on striking Babe Ruth out while you concentrate on making more than one or two all star teams striking people out and his current point while I agree shouldn't bring it up. It's just a stupid argument to have his point wasn't ripping Babe Ruth was saying guys, basically from the twenties and thirties couldn't hit the pitching of today was really comment on that. And I'm a former athlete myself on the fifth year old man, I train every day. If there's so much bigger faster and stronger, which they are. Doesn't mean they're better. And why are they bringing the fences in every year, and why aren't guys completing as many games, not even close if there's so much bigger faster and stronger treated differently? And to your argument to defend your side of this if Babe Ruth played in two thousand eighteen he'd be working out. Jim it would be different eating properly. No question. So to just pop yourself into nineteen twenty seven while you've got all the benefits of eighteen. Right. That's exactly right. Trivia contest because I can Google things. And those guys can't because they don't even know what a cell phone is. Right. It's a different time. My only point was to our last caller was he wasn't necessarily ripping Babe Ruth himself. He was ripping the arrow really talking about the differences. So it's not like, you said, Babe, Ruth, socks and everywhere. There's no reason to rip the era the era either era either. And it really isn't. I agree. I mean, what are you gaining by that, you know, he can't compare baseball in one thousand twenty seven to baseball twenty. Now, you just can't twenty nine thousand nine can't do it. Of course. Not. And it's just it's simplistic because those guys Jimmy Foxx. We'll use him as an example, Jimmy FOX is going to treat his body differently. Anyway, nineteen. These guys just a smoke. Yeah. Like, you know, serious smokers, right? And then you can walk over to Jimmy FOX and see Jimmy. I gotta show you something. And he's like what what are you show me? And I show them this ipad, right? And he says, oh, yeah. I can track every pitch you've seen in nature. Throws. Oh, he's got that too. Now can actually watch the pitcher really? I mean, come on. It's a different time. We know about the differences. It was also bigoted times when fortunately, FOX and Baber. I always liked the point this out. Babe Ruth did barnstorm you did with a lot of the great players like satchel page. Yeah. They didn't count with any staff that we have they did face each other at least, which is cool to think about Rick and Danbury. Hi, rick. Hey, guys. The only thing a couple of things about Andy Pettitte thing. One is. Could be wrong. But I don't think left-handed pitcher who won a hundred games more than he lost has made all things so far. So that's one thing he should have going in his favor. The only gone him, really. It's DRA career. But when you look at his wins. He's only got ten wins less than that. So I I mean when you look at the post season thrown in I think he is. Borderline hall of fame and people are giving them credit for he's born line hall of fame. I just don't think he's all famous. I didn't think Messina was either. What's what's the ER? A it's not that big a difference. Visit ERA wise not monstrous within the it's three eight five, and I think with Mike Massimino sixty six eight. Yeah. So it's not that big a difference. The winds are very tough to take. I mean, the guy was on an amazing team for fifteen years. Now, he wasn't on the Mets. I wasn't on some lousy team. That's why this win thing. And I know a lot of people love to bring it up because that's the way it always was I can't take it. That's like that's the reason why is in the hall of fame because he was on the Yankees. And they scored a lot of runs for me had the best closer in the history of Houston too. The pitch for the Asheville. Did don't you think? The Astros were good. They won the pennant. How many years three years? So the only one that one. Yeah. But they were in the LCS the year before that they lost out was the unit that pool sit to homerun actually one didn't two thousand four was the year. They just lost to the cardinals seven, right? The following year. Right. Andy missed a big chunk of two thousand four I don't even know if he pitched in the playoffs there. I gotta check that out. You know, he didn't even in the playoffs. Got hurt. Okay. He was on some very good teams throughout his career set aside his record as that being the region. At least for me. I don't buy. I do think he's borderline now. I really do Matin easthampton, Matt. How are you? Hey, guys doing what's up man on the corner? But I is Jerry series watcher put everybody logo on every single hat, and all that's gonna look ridiculous. He's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. You can't Jerry Recco. Anyway. So I was fortunate enough to David Cohen perfect. Later on the Red Sox Labor Day weekend Sunday night, then why not loose and we talked that game. Yeah. Oh, I didn't. Real well in that game. They what was the ninth. Yeah. And I was like perfect seven and moose was I never broken up. Call everett. No, no, no. But we did we did mention that already as much as we love for you to listen to every second of the show, we understand that it's impossible with some people. Xiaomi neither. Well, it was incredibly well pitch game. There's some regular season games that stick out in your memory. And that one was one of them. There was another one Pedro. The chili Davis at the home run. Yeah. See struck out seventeen. That's game was probably the best game. I've seen pitched that was not a no hitter in bedroll was unbe ninety nine ninety nine that game game. Just completely jumps out of you know, what's up there? There was a great question greatest well game without being a no hitter a perfect game. And we were there in Tampa Bay flaw Dickey. That's right. Like a bunch single in the first inning, right? Right. That.

"They get in. But I think it's going to be tight. I also find it ironic that the new voters might decide if bonds and Clements get in. So the new voters who didn't cover bonds and Clemens could decide if bonds and Clemens get into the hall of fame, and if they get in a Rod's going to get in we can start to go down the list. I don't know if Andy Pettitte gets in Sammy Sosa gets in five years ago. I thought this would never happen with bonds Clements it felt like with the old guard. They were not going to let them in because they were the keeper of the flame there at the whole of fame the holes doors open to players who will once thought not to even have, you know, even have a chance here in bonds and Clemens they have a chance a very good chance over the next three years. I love the reaction with Mary on a Rivera Seton. If we could play that that. This is the actual phone call. And if you've ever been around Marianna Rivera that he is who he appears to be from a distance. If you're a fan, and you see him, he's as classy as any athlete I've ever been around as nice as anybody I've ever been around. And no ego. Here is the call from the hall for Marian Rivera. Hello. He's big into him. Who is this?

"Why? How what what? Yeah, gosh. What had happened was? No seriously. It's it's one of those things where they gets right out of the hands. So great, right. And it feels like it's on the meter the plate, and you just have no idea. How you don't hit? It. There's plenty of guys in the big leagues that have it. But seeing it go for nine innings now. That's that's impressive like, Sean Doolittle. Sean Doolittle has an invisible fastball. 'cause that's literally all he throws. It has zero movement straight as hell and how many swing and misses? Do you see up that pitch? Yeah. Tons ton guys. Just can't locate it, Nope. Good night for Joel panic tonight. Couple of hits for him panic now has five hits in his last eight plate appearances be nice to panic to finish the year strong for a myriad of reasons. I'm a I'm a painter guy, man. I've always loved his approach at the plate. I no injuries. Have slowed him down the last couple of years. But you know, when he came up for any I just thought he just had that poison guys. He talked about the eye test and guys who just look like they're born to be big league hitters, and they're going to be, you know, north of that to ninety Mark you would think around their career and know for whatever reason it hasn't happened for panic last couple of years. What do you think kind of been holding him back at the dish in particular injuries? Yeah. I mean because he's not. I mean, you think about it. What's you know for a hitter? Having your base is a huge thing. And he's had his he's at growing strain hamstring strain. But the main thing is he's had a back issue. I think that's really set him back in his just overall development because at the time he was still young when he hurt his back. Yeah. And so the consistency of of those quality at bats and feeling good. He hasn't had you think about it. I mean, he's feel like in the last couple of years. He hasn't played a hundred percent. So with that being said, you know, they're they're going to have some things to think about with him this off season. 'cause I think where is he in his career? We don't know because we don't know how you know. He's just have certain injuries. He has and he's had and he's had I think makes it a little bit more confusing. Right. 'cause he's not gonna be tradable. Really? That's I mean 'cause you kept hearing his name is a guy that would potentially be a trade peace. But I don't know how much you're going to get back form at this point. You know, I in two fifty this year and has a really gone way. Last couple years. He's only twenty seven he's got a gold glove on the shelf. So it's not like he has no value. I just think she has more value to this. Giants team that he would any other team. Yeah. Yeah. I think so. But I also think that you know, when they're talking about getting creative in shape shaking things up. I think he's one of them. Oh, absolutely think. And I'm I'm with you. I'm a huge Joe panic fan. And do they have pieces that you know? Justify being able to like let him go. Manono unless do you want to trust in Alan Hansen now and I love handy, but he and he's a deaf guy. Funny guy. And I don't need them at second base. All the time. No, no. No. No, no, no. The the thing is too. And we heard this from Larry Baer we've heard from Brian Sabin on these airwaves on the shows that they've been on the last couple of weeks. They haven't mince words in particular, like the last two weeks, they have not minced words in and you would expect not I mean, this is two years now of them, you know, this team not reaching the standard, whatever the reasons are. That's where we're at right now. And you hear the words like wholesale changes. Here words like shake it up. They don't just throw that around lightly because they know that you know, these guys have at least earned transparency from the front office slide. These guys have been here for a lot of the success of these teams. But when you start to hear stuff like that makes you realize okay, they're not playing around this off season. And when you hear stuff like that, you know, the list of guys that are not going to be moved. Or would not be touched. That's a pretty short list in probably get shorter every day. Yeah. I think there's only a couple of guys that are just completely untouchable and my differ from. So many people, and that's the best part about this. There's everyone has their opinion. I really think that BUSTER and and Brandon Crawford or the only untouchable. I'm right there with one they have no trade clauses that that kinda helps the whole thing out. But you're also like, look, I'm not saying you could find an ace, and you could find a a Madison Bumgarner just right away. Like, oh, I have that here. No, no, no, no. I'm not saying that. But. You can't find a gold glove shortstop, a platinum glove winner, a someone that is literally unbelievable. He's going to give you at least one hundred and fifty games at shortstop saves you runs week. Couple runs a week unbeliev love. Yeah. So yeah. Those are where it starts in the reason why I say with buff is like look Bumgarner is so good, and we get it. But he brings so much value. And you have to determine are you going to resign him? Is he something that you're building the future with? I mean, look. Is it off very similar to Andy Pettitte? I think so Andy Pettitte was it was such a big game pitcher for them for the Yankees for so many years, and then they know to Houston, and we know it's not easy to do. But you have to find value, and he's the most valued he is the best best of the pieces. And so I if you train them to the Braves and you get Mike saroka in Andersen. Back that kind of helps because you got two of the top prospects an entire baseball who have now a little bit of major league time. You'd have to get a lot more for it. But I get it did look that stuff. They're going to have to deal with and who's making the call is going to be the big question. And you know, I don't have any answers on that. I don't really care 'cause all I care for is that they make the right moves. And the right moves are what they believe is right? So what I know is. Because there's I mean, it's going to be hard to find those pieces. They're going to have to you know, take some chances. And I and I think like they let's say if they were to to. I don't want to get rid of belt portrayed beltway and put them in a situation in a place where he can thrive. They'd have to get back. You know to see like look you'd have to I feel like you'd have to him up like Matt Adams and Mark Reynolds or Lucas Duda. Mark Reynolds, you put those guys at first base. Now, you got some there. Right. You got some decent players. But you're I mean, you're still going to have to pay up a little bit. Sure. And if you try one of those guys away, okay, fine. So you traded them away well who step into their place, then who's going to take all those at bats. All right. Eight yards number. We're going to talk to Mark upon us coming up on the other side. And then we'll have open phones until about eleven thirty when my Romo interview, and we got puff puff pass coming up. I'm going to give frame Puffer fast. Here we go baby because it's Friday night. That's how we do it market body. As k TV is gonna join us next came here tonight. Kevin FRANZ Ryan Kobe right here down.

"Com not a lot, cooking but the Yankees last, night six one home loss to the raise Louis Sesa the spot start with Sobat the on the, DL even make it out of the fourth tag for five runs on seven hits. Yankee offense leaves the basis loaded in the fort they stranded ten on the night over nine with runners in scoring. Position this is Brett Gardner Just fall behind early they can be can be frustrating inflating and we. Just want able to Weren't able to come back. Tonight when you watch Sesa especially from, like the side profile Andy Pettitte I could see why you'd. Say that a little bit other look just like. Him and I was going and that's for sure. I was going to do a side by side and at that moment, he gave the home. Run, I saw this. Purpose stupid tweet right now who's who gives a damn it's five one part yes I would agree he was the one that. Put them in the early hold that Gardner reference Aaron. Boone offering his analysis of the young right-hander it just, seemed like A lot of pitches in the centre with both his fastball the secondary plug in a. While seriously right exactly You can tell when he has to say something, like, remotely. Critical it just takes forever to get out of like so afraid of blasting, one of these guys hey Brandon. Lau. Look. Out In, the, center. A little bit Batteries out oh boy Yeah exactly karma unplug me and sunny great pitching in the same game that was pretty torture as both with ERI's era, is cheese All right take A five is what I was going for me go and do hard did Homer and double. In the loss here's. What Jerry referenced as far as Boone talking about Aaron judge in his recovery from the. Wrist chip fracture I know he did some swings underwater today and. It went well I would say there's been significant improvement over the last. Couple of days it's almost like he said. In, a wet well he said it went well swung under in a pool and. A wet. Weather the. Trump This is stupid analytics swinging underwater and you can't throw it just. Doesn't allow Uh-huh Underwater I don't, know but, I I understand the swinging underwater if he was feeling good and it just as a, strengthening and that's what I'm. Saying so, I if he can't throw whose genius ideas to put him under, water one of these underwater things where there's, no I don't. Know Ramirez go, to the Yankees He's, in a wet suit Shark tank Bull sharks around them in Slow motion swinging so Boone tells you things are getting better yet Brian Cashman on the fan with Mike earlier. Today struck a different tone he revealed judge had a cortisone shot in the wrist this week and that they misfired on that three. Week timetable for his return it's gonna take as long as. It needs to take an we're going. To give him that time 'cause you don't wanna mess things up and put him through something when it's not ready and judge was still having some pain in the wrist, upon extension safe to say probably won't see him at a major league. Game until after Labor Day so don't judge the whole time line. Doesn't make sense to me none of it makes Aaron Boone's comments were before Brian Cashman talked to. Mike all lined up properly he's. Taking a little bit longer he took some swings underwater Was going to be good And then he catchment comes on after that You, know what. Little pain this. Is not going so good that makes sense it's like it was reversed and not only that Boone was on with. Mike as well after. Cashman and similarity cut we, played, last hour, he was much more like well you know, we're headed in the right that right there So I don't know man I. Don't know and the. Ad the cortisone shot I, don't, think yesterday, I think it was Tuesday that's the weird Winging under a pool on when cortisone shot during a rehab assignment to me is the weirdest, thing because all I know about cortisone shots is when someone has to play in a game or they feel like it's. Like a, championship game they're in, so much damn pain, that, the only way, they can get through it as. If they get the. Cortisone shot I mean that's. Been the history If they do it like with CC's they'll do it every now and then. Just to, kind of knock down Yeah but he's saying guys taking a break, or during a rehab assignment that even on a Simon yet he's just Years, in buckets Doing yesterday Water Three in the, afternoon no judge and no Sanchez right. Now, Greg Bergen gleyber, Torres struggling. Labor given the night off the on the DL Severino is a mask, craze a, mess the, waiver trade, deadline August. Thirty first Cashman might look to add a, bat but don't look for any more pitching, additional be no in on the starting side going, forward Now what we have is is is something I think we we've in time Combination We're very comfortable with a lot of Hahn going on right. Now I, mean but, again, they're they're still in decent shape for the moment if they cannot tread water for a while of buckets for a beach game balls and. Buckets, well we've got all sorts of. Things now Jams awesome. Right In bucket yeah so would I put his face on? The box. Now. Cornhole But that's been, around forever. The problem jeez face on, the? Cornhole whatever you here's the promise your idea this is the. Plural balls right you don't wanna bring? A lot of balls to the beach you want. To, bring one thing right cornhole you got a couple of Billy. Gang bags yeah but you show eight of them eight balls balls at you eight. Balls. In a in a you're talking about cornhole they're eight? Beanbags Okay so what do you wanna do. You wanna have eight balls on the beach yes I'm. Not like that Broke a. Lot of balls balls into dogs. Will chase after you gotta? Bring enough specially he and I having a kid? You, gotta bring all the You know it's porno To schlep. Carry their. Own, stuff. They do right right but it's still a lot of. You a, beach guy Okay yeah we go to Madison Now what are your kids like to bring them to the American did they did they. My little guy boogie. Board nonstop gotta be very active and the thirteen. Year old is leave me alone I'm gonna listen to music hours. Because. I don't wanna be here reasons I got the truck was to be able to drive on the beach because all the stuff you gotta slap and you drive the truck right on the beach and everything's right, there for you because I mean I felt, like a mule prior to that you've got a, four by four access, area beach a ton of them a. Lot of beaches that, have. That. We, don't have that right It's awesome the island they've, got it in Outer Banks forget them coming on, the boat with you, can you sit up a beach day. Stephen follow you out there Yeah well I mean. That would be fun that's something we could do today no truck though you. Gotta you gotta get you gotta do, the real like all of us do, in jersey you gotta get the pushcart and you've got a pilot riding a move pushcart you. Got the wife carrying the baby probably? "The year i think there's no doubt now that the injured shoulder had a lot to do with his slump in the second half because right now you can't you can't get him out regularly there's no way to pitch him there's just absolutely no way to pitch him so it's lead that into the keys and a good game we don't have to talk much about the game judge did hit a home run the only thing about the game worth really mentioning other than the lineup finally broke out and do har had a big double he looks like he's making the corner the threat of torres and the threat awry came to be about a week ago when he reached that plateau where the once he could still be brought up and be kept for that extra year since the rumors of of tourists coming up and do ours really turned it on he's getting extra base hits on a daily basis he's been very very good came through the big basis clearing double for the game yesterday judge hits a home run dd continues to hit he's unbelievable too stanton has done nothing but that's but what i liked his montgomery i thought he was excellent he we've heard the i've heard people compare him to andy pettitte before and it was mostly just because he's a somewhat soft tossing i i wouldn't say completely soft tossing he throws some fastballs midnineties but he's not a throw it by you guy he's a battling gritty kind of pitcher left handed so the obvious and wearing a yankees uniform so the obvious comparisons to andy pettitte have been bandied about on occasion yesterday's game was the first time i really watched that game and thought andy pettitte he worked himself into jams he walked a couple of guys a couple of soft base here one that just snuck through their walk here bases loaded one out second first and second nobody out and he just figured out a way to make a pitch he just figured out a way to get out of a jam someone get a pop up get a double play he really battled got into jams in the third and fifth in particular and was able to work out of them and make.
