"That's the big one that's not but and they're not all exactly the same if you take alien and forbid lands and twilight two thousand can see loop or whatever details from the d. Six six are good ones are bad but how they use them to facilitate. The feel of. The game is unique because in aliens. You know the horror suspense dire. Circumstances things of that nature where face and thinks phil basins a little differently as well but when you so they tweak they take they're kind of like. Hey this thing we know right but it's so it's a system that they use multiple different games but it's not groups not savage worlds right because they're tweak it just enough so that facilitate the mechanics. Canucks are being modified to help facilitate curate. The the first. Yeah are you get you. Which is yeah. I just i. It's interesting to me. When i look at it and i think he talked about games for longtime now. Obviously in. there shouldn't paw points. When i remember you talking about like you know the idea of a curated game vs a. Hey you could do this. Or how do you modify whatever and the house rules and all that stuff and it just. There's something really cool when you find a game like this. That is that scratchy and itchy. You and i look at my friend. Emma man dude's really grooving on this. He's having a hell of a good time. What pieces and parts at listened to the stories that you're telling me i'm like man even if i don't wanna play that game they're aspects of that game then i really like man i could have made like i said my travel and my grandma came could have been more fun. I could do it now. I could bring it back and say hey guys like a new way. I wanted to travel. I assure known. No one will complain. And i think an interesting thing with like a An all star game like you know. Adhd first edition is that. There's no skills really you know and This type of thing and also with no skills makes me think of dungy crow classics traveling stuff. Instead of overland. Travel a lot of brett's recollection of some of the overland travel. I would see is like you know. Every day role for random encounter. Just doesn't seem to you know. Make sure you tell the players. A hard is go through. The vast swamp described this talk about that but instead taking a list and saying wow. Let's tweak the mishaps let's do this and it's it doesn't have to be used. The term mishaps is also a piece when you you said that. I'm like man that's really cool because i remember asking. What is that about well. it's small shit in. There is too many things that go very very well for a lot of games. Yes i think the inheritance some very very difficult shit that your characters are doing. It depends on what you're into right some people. Well i don't wanna i don't wanna talk until that story. I don't want to be part of that care. Don't don't don't use this but if you wanna do that and talk about exploration going through difficult land ask anybody who's done it stuck on the mountainside you know least work really lost part of his nose fingers than in ear stuck a mountainside shit goes wrong. I know us experienced mountaineer to it. Just didn't work for him that time. Anyway i did. I don't mean keep laboring and tries thought it was. It was interesting. That when i'm i'm listening to your excitement about it and i'm like man what is it. What is this. Get me excited. 'cause my buddies excited my now. There's more to it than i think it's kind of. It's neat the the ties into what i wanna talk about next week. Interesting stuff about additions and then it also ties very nicely into a co justice about scab and stuff in and seeing how we can make it work so anyway and they. You wanna say sean like we move on. I don't think so he can get get into dire sales. We talk about something light for instead of how bad jerry jeudy was. "To go back into first Peter and it was very interesting because the next passage that was on. On the agenda I, Peter was a the part that's actually very similar to the Romans Thirteen which is the first Peter two thirteen be subject for the Lord Sakes Every Human Institution and he dealt with that and one sermon, and then everybody kind of got riled up because it was you know. Some of US had just attended a protest at our state capital. Or and. It was interesting to find out that he then followed it up with the next Sunday saying pointing out the fact that we live in a democracy or republic our you want to talk about it where the government is by the people that we elect our politicians, and that it is necessary as free Americans to defend our constitution, and to to stand up and be vocal when. When we see things going wrong and not in a violent way, but because it who's citizens to defend what makes our country great? And I thought it was interesting that he balanced that out that we don't live under an emperor. We don't live under a King We are as a as a nation we govern by the people, and so it is necessary for us to. To have the Christian attitude of submission, but at the same time be willing to speak out when our voice needs to be heard, and I I like oil. He balanced. That are state. It has been an issue because back before the federal court ruled against Governor We had a I think it was actually the Mayor of Louisville had his police ticket of people going to a drive in church, so they were just staying in their cars in a parking lot socially distanced, and they had troopers come and take. Everybody's license plates down. They find them. I think it was. I think it was like a thousand or five hundred dollars per person knocked her carbon per person that attended that service for being there and so it has been an issue in our state. I mean actual follow up with punishment kind of stuff, but I don't think that's right I. think it should have been suggestion. Let people way the risks, so that like an Andy Olsen this case with his church that people could could make the decision whether they wanted to come and.

"Voice of reason. Radio your host Chris Haunt holds joining us on. This may ninth. Two Thousand Twenty. I just said host year riches and here. I'm sorry guys poor. Richard's had a pretty full week. He is not able to join me this week. So what has what I'm actually going to give? You is a different co host so to speak would joining me today. And you'll hear as I hit the play button here in just a second is Andy Olsen of Echo Zoe radio. He has a monthly podcast that he brings a lot of people on In the Christian community pastures and writers and other podcasts host and he has been kind enough to host me as a as a guest twice before on his program while he asked me to join him today. And so what what we did is a twofer. So we're actually recorded a program for both voice of Reason Radio and for Echoes Zoe. Radio and If you're a voice of reason radio listener you're getting first dibs because I'm GONNA have. This edited and uploaded before. He does always fancy editing on his end. So I hope you enjoy our compensation that we had today. We actually covered a variety of topics and We hope that these conversations remind you as Christians how we can discuss issues on Just about anything and do so as Christians who love one another who loved the word of God and she'll grace kindness and mercy to one another and That was what we hoped. We accomplished with this so grateful that you are joining us. Thank you for being patient with US. Like I said unfortunately which was not able to be with us on this program so we hope to have him back next week but hope you're blessed hope you enjoy it and here we go. Chris is Great to have you back. This is my first time on your show. It's your third time on my show at thank you for having me on. It's always a blessing and abby into being a part of Echo Zoe It's it's funny because for the longest time I wasn't we weren't doing any kind of Interview because honestly is nice as it is. They have all the equipment that you and others were so kind to get us I was terrified of hitting the wrong buttons and not getting it right so it's only finally starting to to do guests with other shows and it's it's a blessing to have. Yana of rich couldn't be with us today. So this is SCR. This is a great opportunity for for you guys to for our folks to hear you as well. Yeah well and I thank you for having me and I. I'm hoping Richards doing well. I know that he could new show with you this week. And happy to sit 'n forum. Yeah your show but I pray that he's back in the swing of things quickly. Yeah he's He just had a full week and You know one of the things that when we started voice reason radio we always had an agreement that family and personal issues that you know taking care of those always come first and he even when it's not like into the world crises. Hey if you're just not feeling well or you've had a bad week. Hey we'll do a will do a rerun episode. We'll come up with a solo up so we'll do something 'cause we always try to Where he's so he's doing okay he just. He had a pretty full week. Yeah well you do. Weekly shows so so I do monthly. It's a little easier when those family issues come up at all. I got three more weeks in a month. I generally like to get my shows up on the first of the month now again this. I Dunno least the second or third month in a row. Now that I'm behind but one of these months I'll catch up. We keep telling ourselves that well my wife would like to use this This pandemic this Stay at home stuff and And go to her parents house in Arizona now. Her parents aren't there so we were not going to violate social distancing. That's kind of a neat thing. They came back to Minnesota. They left this empty house in Arizona and she really wants to go down there so if anything that will probably throw them even further behind because we go down there and I'm not dragging my with me what you've got a pretty full setup. It would be a little bit difficult but I I last I think October I got the road. Caster which is a phenomenal. Awesome podcasting board and so my setup is is my footprints gotten smaller. I probably could drag especially if we drive derozan which would be my preference with dollar thirty gas. I would rather drive and you know this is like high school gases low and we're all grounded. We can't exactly. Yeah well that means has been going around for years. It says you know you're getting all because Because what used to be a punishment is now a great night. You know you gotta stay home in early curfew. You're not allowed to leave the home like that's my well absolutely I I. I love it when somebody posted when when the shutdowns went into play. Some of us were like you know. My Life didn't change all that much. Wonder that says adobe yeah well ours got a little easier because we're always all were were all often home. I'm a stay at home dad. My wife works from home a lot. And then my kids are home schooled. So we're all pretty much home but now we're not running to karate and dance lessons and swimming lessons and all this stuff that it seemed like we got two things every evening every day of the week and Sunday is the only day where we don't have something other than church and so it's been a little bit of Xing to you know we still have karate but I put it out on the TV and they do it through Zoom Perfect. So yeah it's Kinda cool but I wanted to ask you before we get too far. I kinda missed your joining the Christian podcast network their community. What we're a fellow member now. That's kind of why I was thinking of you again like i. You know part of why. I'm on there as I wanNA promote other members but but I kind of missiles that I saw a tweet from Andrew saying your show was up and he only does those tweets for Christian podcasts community. Show so yeah. We didn't. Andrew was kind of funny when he first created the idea for Christian podcast community. I remember him talking to me about it and and to both rich and I and we thought well. That's kind of interesting. Yeah let me think about it Mostly because we've finally hit for years at the end of last month and it still felt like as we going into this into our third year it was almost like Gosh. Do we really know what we're doing yet? And this is the first episode and my thirteenth year. I still but I only do one a month. So you've done more episodes. I have for years but well as it was last year that we finally became much more consistent with doing that every week for the first two plus years we were hit and miss and it was just like. This is something we're going to do. We're GONNA try and make it as often as possible but you know if we miss so that that's where that's what happens and things changed when I had the opportunity to go to The the shepherds conference and I met people who listen to the program and suddenly the whole thing became much more real that there were people that actually listened and cared about what we had to say. Which really still to. This date amazes me who listens to begin with but actually agrees with and cares about what we say that that blows my mind so it became a commitment to me to our listeners to try to be more consistent and up until about the end of November early December. We were really consistent about that. And so that. Was I. Think the impetus for us to talk to Andrew about getting on with Christian podcast community and it's been a wonderful experience. We've always been a part of their facebook group that they they're always very open about helping people with information Trying to cross promote other programs and for us it was an opportunity to work with like minded Christians. And as you say where we can and just be a part of that platform and so it's it it's been We've only been doing it for a few weeks now but it really has been a wonderful experience and it's very bizarre to see our show listed on a website as as being served by no no. It's it's really just been the last few weeks that we've been Finally been on there so It took a while. And what's what's funny is we've known. Andrew for we were talking early in and even you know they've got a stack that they go through. And even though I've known Andrew Long enough the vetting process was much easier going than it is for some of the other podcasts. A you know it's still got a pile go through and Well process that he wants to carry out and they and they still make sure even though they know you they still want to make sure that everybody's in agreement and everybody knows that this is a program that's on board with their statement of faith on board with what everybody is she and yes. We're all going to have a variety of beliefs on certain issues but generally speaking they try to see. You know if you're GONNA come on board with Christian Cup community you gotta be Orthodox and You got to agree with statement of faith and you got to be able to talk to them about that and I appreciated that. Because you're not you're not gonNA get special treatment per se just because you know some of the people that might help facilitate the process but it certainly doesn't guarantee anything which was something. I greatly appreciated. Honest well I also like that that that betting process and that whole statement of faith type thing in agreeing because I still have yet to go through the whole catalogue over there so i. "All right everyone this is your host Heath. It's time once again for quest for true heaven so episode today. Actually something different plans. But it didn't quite work up get people or for the microphone for discussion. So what I did is and last year. We ran a couple of series where we addressed top things that easiest nonbelievers really say about Christianity and I had a few left in my archive of stuff. So here we have three Of the top things in no particular order that atheist in non-believers have about Christianity? One deals with thinking for yourself and challenging religion which actually my opinion is kind of good but not exactly the way that it's presented the other two seemed to take a valid logical situations. They don't apply those situations correctly. But anyway Defined the whole snippet which I linked to but I believe it's called ten things nonbelievers say something like that. If you Google it you'll get all ten of the segment so that we've addressed and these will be the last ones that will do. We'll move on to other types of worldviews out there and address them. But I my name is Andy Olsen and I wanNA tell you about Echoes Radio Echoes. Radio is a podcast outreach of ECHO ZOE ministries every month. I find a knowledgeable guest to talk about an important interesting topic that affects the Church today. We carefully balanced the discussions of positive got glorifying doctrines of Orthodox Christianity from a mostly reformed point of view with exposes of heresy. False teaching and practice that goes on throughout the church. Today you can find us at. Echoes DOT Com. That's H. O. Z. O. E. DOT COM. Religion makes people feel guilty on sale. Certainly should get letters every day that I never got before and those letters are from kids around the world and also from people in small towns and tell me I'm just so happy I saw this saw. The Believers are rigged. Because I realize I'm not a bad person for asking these questions. I'm not evil and that is to me something. I really hadn't appreciated before. That religions usurped this notion of morality. So if you just say just saying I don't buy it automatically is equivalent to the saying. I'm not a good person and that to me. Is the underlying most moral aspect of religion? Is it tries to have a monopoly on morality and ethics. What does is it is. It makes people feel guilty for thinking for themselves and I can attest to that from just the vast and every single day. I'm amazed at that and I hadn't appreciated that as as an evil before I I actually started getting labeled and people wrote to me so they did a further study and they question people who were who were claimed the Christian box and said you believe in the Virgin Birth. You believe in translates to believe this. No no no no. Why do you call yourself fishing? Because I like to think of myself as a good person and I think most people call themselves Christians because they think they don't they'll be labeled as bad but let's review what is being said here. A talks about getting letters of appreciation around the world affirming that they realized or not bad people. They're not evil because they've asked a question about their religion he and I would say you know the sooner you question your religion the better the sooner you express those doubts and explore legitimate answers to them the better because you would just find they hold up It'd be willing to accept even the solutions to arguments. The you don't like because sometimes the truth is hard to take in. It's not always likable. That religion has usurped this notion of morality toward usurped. Muse to take by force though shove morale I challenge say. No religion has not usurped morality. I would say. Non Religion has usurped morality religion. Use Word but for lack of better. One sets the standard headsets. The high standard from round. He does not does not usurp it never has usurped things that are not religion usurp just saying I don't buy it automatically is equivalent to the saying. I'm not a good person. No just saying you don't buy it means that you have legitimate doubts. You have legitimate questions and that to me is the underlying most immoral aspect of religion. It as it tries to have a monopoly on morality and ethics. No that's not this away room so they did a further study and they question people who were who were claimed the Christian box and said you believe in the Virgin Birth. You believe in transit sensation to believe this. No no no no no why do you call yourself fishing. Because I like to think of myself as a good person if you don't believe in those things that's fine. Everyone has doubts. Everyone has questions For one thing trans substantiation does not ever anywhere appear in the Bible. It is a Catholic doctrinal teaching And it has long since been abandoned usually even by Catholics is just a belief that when you take comedian it actually turns into the body and beloved Christ within your stomach. No nobody believe that. And by doesn't teach that the birth well it does teach that it is difficult to take. But you know. Even if the door's passages in the Bible were not there to me. It doesn't change the fact that Jesus died and was buried in rose from the grave It does enforce a belief in his deity. But even if those passages weren't there it's it's not a deal breaker to say that Jesus was not divine but it's good that you question that it's good if you say that because it doesn't make you a bad person. What makes us the person as sin but this guy never goes there They say why. Don't you believe is countable? Basically that it wanted to have a bad label in other words you are a cultural Christian There's another word for that. Is called hypocrite. In his. Sooner you come to grips what the and either say no. I don't believe this. Then stop being a hypocrite and stop saying you're Christian. There's nothing wrong with that. At least now you know where you stand in sort of everyone else and if you're gonNA can continue to college Christian didn't you really do need account to grips with some important questions. But having questions does not make you bet person sin is what makes you buy person in having sin in not addressing. Those questions was going to send you the condemnation and please don't go there Deal with the questions in find your answers and hopefully will finance in stay within the Christian Realm Fijian's chapter four verse twenty five therefore laying sod falsehood speak true each one of his neighbor for we are members of one. "Right and Annette's you'd made a comment to the effect a little steam punkish to you and I and I thought that was interesting. Because I'm wondering. You know the whole concept of doolittle it's like it's almost like the invention of steam punk. It's like that whole background concept of it's like an early steam punk nodding but it's almost like it was like like pre Stephen the originator of the steam punk that. Yeah you know it. They really didn't show any more of it. Once you got outside of doolittle's house So I wonder if it was intended to show that he was an innovator above and beyond a renaissance man of his time with all these inventions. But you did see a little bit of it on the water lily. The ship that That he sets off on his voyage with but none of it outside society so but yet did feel steamed punkish there was a series on net flicks a little while back the Lebanese thicket series of unfortunate events. I didn't like it. I didn't watch more than the first episode or two because I if you know the books I nothing goes right for these children and I just I don't want to entertain myself by watching advice. Fraud a shoddy Freud but The the production values the the lighting the way the characters are presented all felt very similar to Lebanese snick. It and there's a lot of steam punk element in the SNICK series too. I remember seeing that one. Come out that. I didn't look interesting to me so I didn't didn't follow it. Well before we get into a theme discussion. We of course need to mention the music and Danny. Alvin is actually a composer that I really like. I very rarely mentioned him. He doesn't do a ton of movies that we review but he has done a few and I usually like his his scores. This one is. I guess what you would call symphonic cycle which really fits the nature of the movie. I'll just play a little bit of it right here so you can hear what it sounds like. Okay now. This movie also is one of those rare movies. At least I guess it's not as rare as I'd like it to be but it ends with a song in the credits and this one was an original song called original by Sia and Well it was made for the movie but I guess that makes it original the thing that I don't like about. Sia and I have a couple of her songs in my more eclectic collection of music. But the thing I don't like about her is that you can never understand her. She Florida so if you want to know what the words to the song and the credits are you couldn't go have to go. Look it up on Youtube and watch it with lyrics because you can't understand her she i. I honestly don't think I ever heard or recognized. A C- a Sung before the end credit song and even coming out. I wouldn't have been able to tell you who. Co was now. Did you notice before we that there was a scene in the middle of the credits? Did you leave when the credits? Okay yeah with the cave. Yeah about half. The theater got up and left when the credit started. And I'm like I always stay for the credits and was got to be rewarded so I was history to be to not leave. Yeah now I didn't stay all the way the end so maybe there was something at the end that I didn't see what we say. Yeah I get dirty looks from the theater staff already so from now on. There will be spoilers though. I can't imagine that watching a children's movie that he'd be too concerned about spoilers. But here there be spoilers. Yep My name is Andy Olsen and I wanNA tell you about echoes Radio Echo. Radio is a podcast outreach of ECHO ZOE ministries every month. I find a knowledgeable guest to talk about an important and interesting topic that affects the church. Today we carefully balanced discussions of positive dot glorifying doctrines Orthodox Christianity from a mostly reformed point of view with exposes of heresy. False teaching and practice. That goes on throughout the church. Today you can find us at ECHO DOT com. That's E. C. H. O. Z. O. E. DOT COM. Now the first thing that I wanted to discuss and I think this is probably a very small part of the movie but it was a very big deal for me. I think it came because the sermon that I heard right after seeing the movie brought this this matter up and I would have just seen the movie and I was like that was in the movie and I didn't even notice it until now and it's respecting authority and in particular is respecting a authority. Figure who is I? Guess in in a great deal of authority over you who's been gracious to you in in a certain amount away in story that's in this movie. Do little is living on a piece of property that was gifted to him by the Queen because he had done a great service for her right and after his wife passed away. Actually she went on an adventure and never came back He closed up the gates and basically locked the world away and he was just living with his animals in this Beautiful piece of property with a mansion and all that kind of stuff and this lady in waiting comes and tells him that he has been summoned by the Queen to Buckingham Palace and he basically just snubs it. He doesn't he's not interested in seeing the queen he's not he's not interested in seeing anybody but particularly the Queen and I came out of that thinking. It's very interesting that he he's living on the queen's largest basically she gifted him this property and and he's just doesn't have any respect for her authority over him at all he just blows her off and when he finds out that she's ill he couldn't care less and tell they bring up the matter that if he doesn't if she dies he loses his property and that's about the only time he cares about it and then right after that we had a sermon in my church about having the proper offer. God and dealing with him on on the angle that how much God given us. How much is he has graced us with you? Know the the gift of salvation and we'RE LIVING ON HIS GRACE. And how do we react to him when he calls us to do things and I think especially here in the West? We've gotten so comfortable in our faith. That is so easy to say not right now. God I'm busy. Now that's inconvenient. That's outside my comfort zone all of our responses that we have when God tells us to do something and really came home. It's such a small part of this movie but it really hit home to me that we don't have the proper offer God anymore. I mean it's like you. You GO TO CHURCH VIRTUE. You go to church and you and it's more like a almost like a a fellowship of well it is a fellowship of believers but it's almost like a country club you know like you go there to meet your friends and where is the offer. God you know we're going to worship the worship behind and and focusing fellowship right right and what came to mind Was this passage in Hebrews. I'm actually GonNa Start Memorizing Book of Hebrews. I think I don't know how far I'll get in it but there's some really good stuff in Hebrews but this is from Hebrews twelve twenty eight th through twenty nine therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let us hold onto grace by it. We may serve God acceptably with reverence and all for God is a consuming fire. And I don't know I just to me. It's like that almost talks about you. Know because doolittle had received a kingdom basically from the Queen and then he wasn't serving her he he had locked her out of his life and he didn't want to be called upon he didn't want to answer a summons and that's what we've received kingdom from God that cannot be shaken and we need to approach God with the proper reverence an all because of the gifts that he's given us and because he is do that praised that all on that reverence. And how often do we give it? Not Enough Not Enough. Yes it at the opening of the movie Do Little has. Because of the loss of his wife the death of his wife he has retreated to a fearful child-like state Where he refuses to interact with anybody but animals And I feel like there was a missing excellent exclamation of of why but it was easy to accept that he had but even once he went to once he fulfilled the The summons and he appeared in the Queen's bedroom where she lay you find out later suffering the effects of rare fantasy poison. Yeah he does not comport himself with the the proper respect and all that you know that you should you think of Samuel when he has the vision where You know he sees all of the angels gathered around a massive massive cod. A guy that That is huge in an image and in presence his I ought is a dead man. I'm not righteous enough to be here job you know God says hey can you take the Leviathan home as a pet? I don't think so. Yeah and we. We just don't have that sense of of all with God anymore in our community group. Were starting a new series on spiritual warfare and I made the comment. I am a skeptic when it comes to hearing a miracle and not biblical miracles because if it's in the Bible it happened period right. Yeah but when somebody says you know God raised my daughter from the dead and Modern Day or God healed me of my of my my. My immediate thought is well. I don't think God does miracles any Mars. Matter of fact we had this discussion on Our Harriet Discussion I tend towards plausible. Non Supernatural explanations. I willing to accept that God could have done it but wanting something more to go on you know. Yeah and if you want more on that kind of a discussion I do recommend you. Check out the theology throwdown discussion episode three of the Christian podcasts Communities Theology throwdown in which I had defended when we had the Harry episode I had defended the belief that God could work miracles and people's lives and I kinda got set straight. It wasn't in a bad way because I'm not willing to die down that hill but one of the things that I guess I've always felt like is the God can work miracles in our lives. But it doesn't necessarily need to be a miracle that you then use as a means to like convince other people of things as it's a personal thing and it can end it may not be a miracle to someone else. It just may be God's way of of working in your life and one of the things that was brought up in our theology throwdown is that people misuse that They'll say God told me to tell you this. You know this revelation that makes you more righteous than someone else. Because God's is speaking to you and not speaking to someone else and particularly people of the Prosperity Gospel of right exactly and that's where it can get used wrong and so you can't discount anybody's experience with God but at the same time if it isn't biblical if if it isn't something you can point scripture then God is not saying to someone else through you because the only way God speaks to people is through his scripture and so the miracles and the and the prophecies and all that kind of stuff are you know God may be speaking to you but you cannot use that beyond what he's telling you personally and not try to turn it into extra revelation that is not in scripture. So I can see the damage that that can do and I understand the points that were made so I am now forced to agree with you on this topic. And you know as we're joined appointing out in the ANJELICA circles. The title of profit is not somebody who foretells the future. A prophet is somebody who speaks to a people for God right. He speaks God's words to a specific people. Modern Day profit. The only words they should be speaking are the ones from scripture because that's accurate relation to us to save sleeping extra revelation beyond scripture then. They are speaking prophecy. And that's where we should be finding our all. That's why we should be it. We should be finding the all that job feels. We should be finding the all that Isaiah feels that Alisha feels you know. Yeah and there will be a time God willing very soon where we will see. Miraculously world altering events too but by that may be too late for some people. That's what we go back to Hebrews one which I was I've been working on like I said I just started trying to memorize Hebrews in this passage is just so rich. It's right from the beginning of Hebrews one long ago God spoke to the Fathers by the prophets different times and in different ways in these last days. He has spoken to us by his son. God is appointed him. Heir of all things made the universe through him. The Sun is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of his nature sustaining all things by his powerful word and after making purification for sins..

It's right from the beginning of Hebrews one long ago God spoke to the Fathers by the prophets different times and in different ways in these last days. He has spoken to us by his son. God is appointed him. Heir of all things made the universe through him. The Sun is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of his nature sustaining all things by his powerful word and after making purification for sins. He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high so he's finished. Everything is finished. The revelation is done and God has spoken to us through his son. So that that's where we understand that there are no new revelations. It's because God it's has finished his his work and that's why the Bible is complete. We don't need to add to it. There is no further word from God that we need to have beyond scripture the whole concept of God you know that the sun is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of his nature. Sustaining all things by his powerful word. That is just a beautiful picture to me of how not only is God on inspiring but Christ is on inspiring. We shouldn't be thinking of him in such. I all know tawdry languages. I used to when I was a child. Say that Christ was what Jesus as my best friend. Yeah I mean I can call him a friend because of what he did for me and the grace that that he is bestowed upon me but it would be like I guess in human terms it would be like saying the queen of England is a friend or the president. "Church Turks. Today our primary goal is to explore a variety of issues while remaining faithful to God at his word. Stay with us for the next hour. As your host Andy Olson Ulsan shares his conversation. With this month's guess here's your host Andy Olsen Olsen. Thanks for listening to Echo Zoya radio. This is episode one forty two for February twenty twenty with Bob Dole Bob as theologian and Preacher at Gospel of Grace Fellowship Church in St Louis Park Minnesota. There's been preaching through the book of a Fijian's and returns this month to discuss the theology expressed within it. Show notes for this episode are available. We'll find basic of the discussion list of scriptures referenced that come up during during the show and links to additional resources and you can find that at Echo Zoe dot com slash one. Forty two no video for this episode. Believe it or not video is a little more complicated for me when my guest is in studio so maybe I'll get something worked out for future in studio recordings for this one. It's going to be audio only but with that I'd like to welcome back Baabda Abdul Way back to the show. So thanks for joining me Bob. It's great to be here as always. Yes so you have been preaching through the Booklet Fijian's lately and When I asked if he'd want to come back he suggested as a topic and then quite excited about the that you've been digging into yes? I'm very excited about the equations. One of the key topics any features is the church. And as I've been going through Fijian's now I've been doing this for over a year and a sermon. Maybe ends up being two or three or four versus depending on. How many concepts are no verses? Says but one of the key themes church and so I wanNA talk about how we see. The church defined is some important copies in regard to the church in the book of Equations. So because you've only preached through four chapters so far not all six six through the book where we're kind of focusing just on those four. Well we only got an hour. We've only got an hour so that four might be a challenge Can we start off with just kind of a broad overview of of Fijian's okay. Well what happens any features now Paul's in in prison when he rises he's been there. Emphasis is important place in the Bible. Obviously there's a lot that happens there in acts. Paul them later in prison rights to Christians in the offices and later yet again. Rice the Timothy Amethi. WHO's in emphasis? So this is key place and the interesting thing about Fijian's is Paul is writing to a a church is comprised of both Jews and gentiles And what I found as I've been preaching for longtime now through Fijian's Jones is how emphatic if Asia's to fifteen years in regard to the theme of Equations and especially the last half of the verse where it says so that any himself he may make the two into one new man thus establishing publishing peace and reconcile for sixteen says they're both in one body to God through the Cross having excuse me by it having put to death the enmity and so this ended up and I wasn't expecting us but as I've really dug into the Greek and drill down what's any Fijian's is one. New Man is very very important. And the reason it's important in regard to the church his the fact that if you look at it on a service especially with the backdrop of the book of acts and what will happen there synagogue. Ah Jews with the law and pay your gentiles. Emphasis who are used to the temple of Artemis and every other kind of pagan religion engine are about incompatible to groups and people could ever be The strict moral code of those is the savage keeping keeping food laws. All of that kept the Jews unique so that they would carry forward the seat promise so the Messiah would come. But but now in Messiah God is taking people from both camps Shula Gentle and making them into one new man Dan. Which is the Church K now for that to happen? A lot of things have to change number one. The Jews are going to have to accept the fact that their fellow shipping with people that if they're passes it he thing to consider totally incompatible and furthermore the gentiles are used to pagan deities every kind of immorality that was rampant in Asia minor that they would take no big deal would be utterly and should be utterly a poor aunt went to the Jews. And how is it going to be that they're going to be together of actually for eternity as the the people of God under Christ and so that's so important that helps us understand a lot of body Fijian's and how it starts with Breath Eternal Perspective you see in Chapter One then chapter two you have the essence of salvation the Cross and and by by grace through faith how people are saved and entered a church and then as he goes forward and chapter three. He's talking about the church. In God's intent Paul's own ministry and the purpose of God through the saints and then the ministry and the equipping the scenes chapter four. All of this is applied to this one new man. Furthermore this is so exciting to me as you think about the Ma'am okay. I was just doing radio earlier today with our pastor astor under another context we were talking about just a couple of verses which talked about that we all be be the mature man come to the maturity charity of the One man in Christ. What is this thing about man while the backdrop goes all the way back to Adam Where sin came from so The old man. The old self is grounded in atom. And that's true true for both the Jews and the jails they came from the same place which was data Sam even though culturally there are so different and so the old man ultimately there's echoes of Adam the dead sooner hostile to God but of course there was the seat promise was in the science going to come and so the one new man is in Christ the last Adam. Okay and so we're growing wrong in maturity into the image of Christ and that's going to be the mature man so that is a theme if he's he's so what about the church and that's really. What I think is really site here was going to say that? It's I picked up bother your excitement in that regard in as I casually. Just sit down and read if Asians. I don't quite see him. Defining the church you know as you so excitedly proclaim and and so I'm kind of eager to hear how you explain that and okay. Well let's Carr's starting with chapter one. Yeah okay interesting. Thing about Chapter Wong often insist. Make Theology we drill down on ideas like the Turtle Council of God God choosing people for Salvation from before the foundation of the world. Yeah and those issues which are debated they have been throughout church history. But what I found out when I sat down to just study study this week and understand. How am I going to preach this one of the things that really stands out and I want our listeners? To note this is Zep. The main part of fishes one is. This thing is called into Greek Ula gate toss which means to. We're actually in English. We have the Word Eulogy But here it means to speak in bless God to speak about God's character his promises amasis his nature his mighty deeds and it's the type of Liturgy finding the Old Testament. Yeah and the Old Testament's called Barra CAA and there are some that are Qassams there about blessed blessed be God for he has it in describing kind of Duck Sala. Jeez yeah what He. He did how he did it. Yeah she's a good. Were because what you'll find any features one as I just laid out into Greek and I was looking at it was there is a phrase as long three times in versus treats your fourteen which is the content of this Barracuda McConnell. Let's call it. The Hebrew word and that is about God's glory says any features one six to the praise of the glory of of His grace at says again if he's won twelve shows the praise of his glory there and says again if each one fourteen to to the praise of his glory so as I was laying that out looking at I saw will while we debate. Where how how could it be? The God could choose some people bull as adoption through predestination and that's all continually debated. I'm not belittling it. I appreciate everything for for what it says but the bigger story is the fact that God is acting even from his eternal council also to do a great and mighty deed of salvation for Jews. Engine tiles that will be to the praise of his glory. So there's one of our five Solos of the glory of God alone so I manage the theme of the last time you were on the show. We we talked about that. In fact I they have been dealing with this material previous I think too. That shore leases start with. That was yeah. That was a year ago so I think I was already probably indefeasible defeatist by the well into it. Yeah and so. That is very thematic here. Now another point. I think our listeners would be interested in Dan. When I laid out sermons I think ended up with seven or eight sermons out of features one? I was able to entitle every every single sermon in such a way that the word safe was in their safer safely. The point of Fiji's one isn't for some people to get mad and thank God. How Dare God predestined anybody? Unless he's GONNA predestined everybody and has fair honest. Honest can help people. When they're missing the point yes he does but why we'll see in Asia minor one of the things that they they were most concerned about was bad fate? A lot of the Pagan religions had many processes and more of that's been discovered offered with archaeology. As some of these sites are excavated that they were worried about bad fate and they would have very rigorous religious processes. They had to go through trying to defeat the bad faith that was going to get them. And some people claim that they had made it to the some blood status through rigorous up activities of religion and going into some chamber. And what have you. That's very interesting. It's own right but they were worried about bad faith because they knew there were hostile spiritual powers the did not have their best US interest in mind..

It's a strategy game for two to four players ages fourteen and up there's a article on Guiquan Sunday that covers a little bit of the game. Which is interesting. It is Kickstarter it at a fifty nine k goal there at three hundred sixty nine and ends. May I twenty nineteen is this based on? The book dungeon, hell, no. It is not known so cool. No relevance than I am aware of. 'cause I know isn't that? That's a what's property right geology. You're no. Yeah. I mean, Matt for was ROY wrote it, and I'm wanting to match at something about a board game on on Twitter while back that he was hoping to develop at him. Oh, maybe it is. I'm I'm doing research. Now someone I know somebody knows. And then the second one world en Ville a world building tool for table, top Rb cheese, storytellers and authors. That's that's the thing. Like we said before when we talked about this one. I'm like how about that? I should know. So me, but this is like like, I said, did you know about call Khufu before? Obviously, there's no impair the peril thrown obviously, what's it about? I have no idea. I don't know if I knew it before I met Victor, actually me. Yeah.
