"In that kind of situation in the tournament. Andy, I put you, you put auburn and Kentucky, so the next question is more speculative. But from the SEC, you have a lot of schools. You mentioned Alabama that has been hot and cold. Really hot. At some points, we all know they're backstory. Tennessee, others as well. Is there someone that anyone could get hot? But if you had to pick one after Kentucky and auburn that could make the longest run, who would it be? Well, I'm a big believer, Paul and who have you beaten when you are at your best. And to me, that's Alabama. I know Arkansas beat auburn at home, but Alabama's win over Gonzaga. If they can duplicate that, the way they played in Seattle that day, then it would be Alabama. You know, that's the big question. Can they duplicate what they did at their best? And it was a while ago, but that would give me the most confidence among the teams of Alabama Arkansas and Tennessee of that other group. And from the rest of the country, you've mentioned two. You mentioned a number of schools after Gonzaga and in Arizona. If you had to pick one more that just anybody other than the names that you've mentioned. Well, the other school that, I mean, like you can not dismiss Providence. And cool is doing a phenomenal job and the fact that they've got a big and neat Watson who can compete with the rest of the country and they've won close games. I mean, the other day at butler, they were down big, came back one and over time. And they've been consistently good in late game situations. So that's critical. And then I guess I have to say you can not obviously, you know, out of the Big Ten, Wisconsin for one reason only met Johnny Davis. You have 37 against Purdue. You have 30 in the win against Michigan state, both on the road. And so when you have a player who can just take over a game like that, they have to be in that conversation of a team that could go pretty far. Andy Katz, we used to see him around here whatever Monday or Tuesday. For ten years. Yeah. I was in Charlotte every single week. And Andy, we haven't forgotten either. Have you forgotten Randy? No. Yeah. All the people around here miss you dearly. You were such an easy guy to work with. Nobody had ever had a problem ever, right? No. And you opened my eyes to the waffle House. And I went to my first waffle House experience in Charlotte, you know, I don't see it as much. It's not as big in parts of the Midwest. I might have seen it in parts. I mean, I've seen it in Missouri, so obviously there can be waffle House experiences in my future again because my eyes were open to it when I was in the south for so long. Well, Andy, nothing here has changed. Same people, same place. And one day come visit us again. Andy, really good to have you on. We look forward to seeing you throughout the tournament. I appreciate you, Paul. The one and only Andy Katz, the thing I used to love talking to Andy about every year. He did the March Madness picks, but the president. I mean, he went to The White House every year with a president Obama. Trump stiffed him. He knew Andy's background. We will take a break. We are coming right back. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Let's continue here. And check in with Johnny, who is in the ATL hello, Johnny. I'll tell you Andy being impressed by the waffle House, wow. Where's Andy from? I think Andy grew up initially in New York and he went to school in Wisconsin and currently lives in Connecticut. What does that tell you? Okay. Okay. That's why he's impressed. Waffle House is a pretty exciting experience. It is. It is. I've lived in one area all my life. You know, the original waffle House is in metro Atlanta, you know? But I will talk about that. I've lived in all these southern states, but going to a waffle House, my first Augusta Georgia or Savannah or outside of Atlanta or Alabama is not the same as a waffle House in North Carolina. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. But anyway, Paul, I called, I think it's probably the biggest news in college football today. Especially the SEC, have you heard that Matt Luke, George offensive line coaches? Yes, we mentioned that about the top of the hour. And I have not gotten any update on really what precipitated this or where he's going. He was a great recruiter, in addition to being a very good coach. You know, when Sam Pittman left in Kirby went out and got Matt Luke immediately, like within two or three days. We all say boy, that's a home run, you know? That's a home run, but you know, it's Matt is going somewhere in a lateral movement. I mean, I'd understand if he's going to go somewhere and take a head coaching job, but if he's leaving to take a lateral movement somewhere, usually with a smoke, there's fire and Johnny, I ran into it was early in the morning at Oxford this year. I ran into a friend of his at the hotel, and this lady asked me about Matt Luke. I just remembered that I said, do you think Matt Luke would ever, and I'm not going to say where she asked because she was like a neighbor. But something, I agree with you. There's something going on here that we don't know. Well, let me just say this. I was in Athens over the weekend and there was a little bit of talk going around about Kirby bringing his buddies back on the staff. Lifelong friends, Bobo, he's got a great resume, my chance, got a great resume. But these guys have been friends since teenagers. And I just hope that that hadn't created any dissension amongst Coke and Mike. Johnny, when you and Kirby smarts entitled to do it, whatever he wants, but I've never I've never liked bringing your buddies back. And that's why I'm saying that. But not when you're trying to win another national championship. We are heading to a break. John Tulsi, who is a buddy, he's more than a buddy. He's one of our best guests, and he'll join us next. Hey.

"Here right now. Andy, it's really great to catch up with you again. How are you? I'm doing great, Paul. It's glad football ended so that you remember to give me call, you know, every once in a while because I miss you. Well, we're glad to have you. And I know you'll be you're busy now, but you'll be even busier in March when the tournament begins, but we want to start and we'll get to the NCAA tournament a second, but as you know, the entire sports world is reacting today to what happened yesterday in Madison, a city you know well. Give us your impressions of what happened. First of all, and what it means. Well, first of all, as we are talking here, we still don't know what, if any kind of punishments will be handed down by the Big Ten Michigan or even Wisconsin. So I want to make that clear to your listeners. We just don't know yet. So bottom line is, and this happens in any sport right or wrong each coach can coach their team, how they want in the final seconds of a game. And yesterday, juwan Howard of Michigan chose to coach that 20 seconds as if it was any point in the game with a couple of starters doing. Applying some pressure, Wisconsin Greg gard had already had his walk ons in and they were obviously having trouble getting the ball across the court. They were up big, double figures, and the rule is you have ten seconds to get the ball across half court. It was at four account officials making account. When you call timeout, it resets to ten. So that's what Greg did. They have 15 seconds left, ultimately the game ends. We knew how it was going to end. Do you want how did I like that that was done? And initially did not express anything and was not going to go through the handshake line or at least acknowledge Greg gard. And from what we can tell from everyone I talked to, can you let it be known that he said he would remember it? Greg Gardner then stopped him as everyone saw the video to try to explain himself. That's when Greg's arm was on his left elbow. Juan then grabs his shirt. They get separated. Joe craven hogs, the assistant from Wisconsin, storms in allegedly said, chill out, calm down, back off to that degree. And then it escalates the open slap, occurs, punches are thrown from what we can tell if it's from the mission side of musu diabate and Terrence Williams, Wisconsin Scott from Jacobi needs. And then they get separated and we're waiting for punishment. I would say that both coaches have a right to do whatever they want to close the game. After that, I think it's a fair argument to say, Greg regard could have expressed why he did what he did later after the game in the press or what have you. Definitely all fair game. But none of it should be escalated to any kind of physical confrontation. So that's where that crossed the line. And I fully expect obviously to be to see more of a severe punishment to that. And everyone is debating this today and that's fine. I mean, a week after the Super Bowl, the conversation has turned to college basketball, fortunately. So in your estimation, where do you think the range of punishment punishment should lie? Well, it's interesting. The Big Ten has a rule, and this is for all sports that the commissioner for unsportsmanlike conduct, which this falls under, has a max of two games and then it can be a $10,000 fine. Now obviously that's not going to a student athlete. But the university can extend that. And certainly, they have the right to do that. And of course, there can be an appeal process. So I would say at a baseline, I expect there to be two games. Based on that, but I will be shocked if it's much longer because it was physical contact. Many have brought out the fact this isn't the first time juwan Howard has had an issue and that's not taking away from the absolutely brilliant job he did. Last season, many can question the job he's done this year, but others have also said he should be fired. Do you think that sounds too severe? Yes. I think things have to be in context. And first of all, Paul, I've never advocated for firing someone. It's just not what I've done as a reporter. Whether it's NGA violations or something like this. So I don't feel like that's my lane to say who should be hired or fired. But I definitely think it warrants suspension of some sort. And I don't think that's crazy to say. So I don't think I just don't think it's my place to stay, someone should be fired for it. Because first of all, I still would like to know exactly what was said that escalated it. You know, maybe it was as simple as just back off. I don't know. You know, I still don't know what the words were in that scrum. And so I'd like to know all that before, you know, and I'm not judging your jury, but I'd like to know all that before, even deciding where I would stand on that. Let's get to the court, not that court. But where we are right now, time is running out on the season. We're not that far away from March. And certainly, I've heard this description from analysts. This team's a final four team. That force of that team to final 14. Yeah, I mean, it is an endless group of schools, although I doubt it was really that large in your mind. As you look at the whole body of work of college basketball, who stands out the most to you. Well, obviously, Gonzaga and Arizona, I think they've played the most consistent basketball in the country and it's rare that some of two West Coast teams are Logan vaga consistently the last since 2017 has been a number one seed and they've played in two of the last four final four title games that we've had because obviously we didn't have one in 20. So they have to be up to Arizona as Tommy Lloyd a former conveyed assistance on a phenomenal job and they're right there. And then after that, I think it's a host of teams. Out of the SEC wouldn't be shocked at all if Kentucky or auburn won the title, duke certainly is more than capable, I would never dismiss going over. They just had a great win at Providence and the big 12. You know, you really could go 3D with Kansas, Texas tech and if sailors healthy, which they're not. So I'd say more Kansas and Texas tech. And then in the Big Ten, you know, Purdue and Illinois certainly have the potential and personnel to win the title. Can you see a leg get back to that point? They certainly have the talent to do so. They just have not played as well as they did during that stretch to get to that semifinal last year. Andy, let me ask you specifically about auburn and Kentucky in terms of what impresses you, the most about both and what reason you might feel that could keep them from ultimately heading into the final weekend of the year. Well, in Kentucky, I mean, they just got to get healthy. I mean, first of all, I was unbelievable win against Alabama without such a Washington and savor Wheeler. But there's no question on a neutral court they can win the championship because of Oscar she would be in the most dominant dig in the country. Telling Grady can make threes and those guards went healthy, certainly can distribute defend, yeah, I mean, Cal's got a team that can win it all again. And with auburn, jabari Smith is a game changer. It will be one of the top three picks. My concern with auburn is, you know, they are sort of a collection and I know to talk to you about a lot of chances, but maybe this isn't fair, but auburn's transfers are the most part haven't played on this stage. Even walker Kessler last year's a freshman, they lost in the first round in North Carolina. Whereas tone Grady's been in big moments at Davidson and Oscar shibe obviously played in the big 12 at West Virginia and I think raises him to another level. I just have a feeling like akia Brooks was playing well now and like the Kentucky players have just been a lease around a bigger moment than auburn. And I would feel a little bit more comfortable.

"Sure. Will Oscar she will lead them to the national title. It seems like it might be there years. Thanks, bob. Thank you. Right now, I really do think Kentucky is a major threat to win it all. Hey, thank you for the call. Appreciate it. Let's continue with Jim in St. Louis. A hello, Jim. Hey, Paul, I couldn't help myself when you said that nothing's happened at auburn since Bruce pearl's been there. Nothing except his assistant got arrested for bribes and all he got was a two game suspension. Jim, that's what we call lawyering up. He didn't know anything about it. Listen, I remember and I think Bruce said this though when he was on that long ago that I had sent him a text after that because I felt terrible. I thought, I thought pearl was going to get fired. And I remember I was, I was sitting at the airport and he called me and said, listen, I didn't know anything about this. And I said, I coach, I believe you. I mean, who am I? To challenge the integrity of Bruce pearl. As I say in Don Corleone, didn't know what soldiers were doing out in the street. Well, he didn't, but the guy that he told to put the kill out did. Okay, well. Hi. Those guys were jamming in the lodge called plausible deniability. Well, I'm not a lawyer, but I'll take your word for it. Yeah, hopefully. Bruce. Hey, when Bruce pearl is at the final four and he wins it all and he's cutting down the nets. There's not an auburn fan in America where we'll remember or care. And I don't think they do anymore. And unfortunately, our fortunately. You can choose your side. There is so little respect for the NCAA and the slipshod way that it enforces its rules that very few of us care anymore about what happens in that regard. Let us take a break. John taught you next hour Andy Katz. We'll get test thoughts on Kentucky and auburn and some of the other issues. And of course the Joanne.

"Also, we got my guy Stanford Steve riding shotgun, trying to keep me out of the ditches. Download and subscribe to SP pod wherever you get your podcasts. We certainly appreciate it. Rate review subscribe, all that good stuff. Yeah. I kind of thought. You know, maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I thought old, what was her name, Donna? If I could just say this on national television. She was in the heat. She was too forward for me. I mean, I don't need that. I mean, you're right. You even heat. I mean, come on. Mystery. Yeah, no. That went completely out the window. All of last week was so incredibly weird. Yeah. I think you finally answered a question that I've had for a while being in the pathetic Pacific, the PAC 12. Because I've often wondered, what is it about the SEC that makes it so much more competitive and any other conference? And I didn't know it was recruiting everything. But when you talked about the SEC and the ACC last week, what have you got from sports talk in there actually? You said that the SEC is a way of life. And that doesn't make it right, but it does make it better. And the PAC 12 I mean, they do have good support. I mean, they have some really, I mean, they're really good in certain things. But I'm talking football. They fucking football. And so you answer that would have to another question is if it's such a way of life that it's so much more superior than any other conference. Why would they go outside and get somebody from the mountain the mountain conference or PAC 12? Why would they, in Ohio, somebody like her, why did LSU go to Brian? I think until even though I've interviewed him about it, I've never really heard a substantive explanation of why they got Brian Harrison, but I think the simple explanation is they got turned down by three or four people. They wanted Billy Napier. He said no. They wanted venables. He said no, I think a couple of other, I think another name they were interested in was Hugh fries and I think they got the feeling that they couldn't hire he freeze. So and the guy that really wanted to hire was Kevin Steele and then the president and the AD said, we're not hiring him. So they was at best about the 5th choice. Maybe lower. Thank you very much for the call. Let's continue with Andrew, who is in Alabama. Hello, Andrew. Hey, Paul. Is this you? Yes. This is me. Whoever me is. Yes, I'm sorry. This is my first time calling into your show and I actually got through just wanted to say, I'm really glad to hear that. I love your show. Yes, sir, my man. I'm from dos in Alabama. It's a prominent city. If you go into Panama City because that's pretty much where you're going to hear about it. I grew up, but this is auburn fan, the only reason is half my kindergarten class were all been fans. I got the Tiger tail and I've been in all of my fans ever since. So I want to get away from the coach dispute because I feel like that's the relevant that happened last night. Yeah, it's a bad thing. So like coaches should be respected higher with their actions, then that display last night. But I want to get away from that. This is my first time. I basically want to shout out to the auburn basketball team. I have a bunch of friends watching, and I'm just proud. So I can say with what happened with taking the trial out of not being able to play in the post game series two to three years, and then with the loss of Virginia, that devastating call, you know, no matter what, man, I'm proud. If you have a number one on your back, people are going to go for you, so I'm just proud about it. Even though we've had some tough losses, obviously, we wish we didn't want to lose. But I'm just extremely proud and I can't wait for the tournament. Well, Andrew, thank you very much for your call. And we really appreciate you jumping on board here. Let's continue. Trey is up next in Tuscaloosa. Hey man, do you have a good weekend? Yes. Good afternoon. Hey Paul, let me ask you a question about the juwan Howard situation. What that incident would that been a legend tip slap or was that a joke from red bay going prison yard slap? Which one was that? Huh? Legend, legend slab. Okay. But Paul, you know, he didn't. He didn't slap the coach that stopped him and tried to talk to him. He slapped a different coach. That's what I don't understand. And also, what are they going to do to the players that got involved in that? I've heard people in Leon's PN saying the players should be punished if the coaches were acting that way. They just following their coaches. Paul, those kids are old enough better not to act that way. Do you not believe that, Paul? I do. I mean, I mean, I would defend. Well, I couldn't defend anyone in this, but the players were showing a very bad example, but I would have massive suspensions. I would suspend anyone who was involved. You and me both. And one other thing, I think when they crossed each other's paths, juwan might have said something about the timeout and I think what pissed him off is the Wisconsin coach might have said to him, well, at least I had one left, unlike Chris Webber. You think that might have fit too well for him? That would be funny. That would have triggered the whole thing off. You got to go way back in time to know what he was talking about there. Charles is up next to HR. Hi, Paul. How are you? We are well. Thank you. Good, good. Did you happen to see the clip going around and Nick Saban, given a speech about leadership?.

"Now you're forcing me down a rabbit hole. I'm sorry, Paul. Let me say that let me explain the Bruce pearl situation to those who didn't follow it. Bruce pearl received a show caused by the NCAA for three years. Now, meaning he had been found guilty, he served his time, and you know where he served his time, don't you? Where? At ESPN, getting paid to be a commentator. Well, okay, there you go. But then he was, he was clear. I mean, he was the NCAA said, you have a green light to coach again. It then took him, then took auburn going to the commissioner of the SEC, who at the time was Mike slide to give it a green light. Now, of course, since Bruce has been there, nothing has happened, right? Right. Right. Yeah. Well, I mean, I think auburn could probably, I mean, nobody would stop auburn from hiring augeron, but I would be very surprised if they hired him. Well, I just want to go on record that I predicted. Okay. Well, I won't say you're wrong, Mel, because we don't know, but thank you for the legal advice. I needed that. Now that I've got that written down in case anybody serves me with a subpoena. Well, there's a number of them you could use. That's just the first one that came to mind. Well, if you come up with some more, please let me know. I would like a stack of them here. Okay. Thank you very much. Yeah, we've had good record here legally. I mean, we have the police show up. We did, yeah, that's true. Daryl is up next. I hate Daryl. I don't have a problem with auburn Bruce pearl, but I would have a major major issue with anybody ever hiring Joanne Howard again. I mean, you know what, Paul? There is no termination has to be for call has to be what the fish is going to do here. I'm just the cold, somebody calls a timeout whenever you're allowed to call someone else whenever you want. He was upset about the timeout with 15 seconds left, but he was still down 15 under a minute. He was still, he had a full court press on the backups from the other side. Did that matter? If he would have had to leave, but he'd been upset. No. No, he wouldn't have had to leave. I mean, he wouldn't have mattered. You know, I mean, he would not be upset, and then sit there and say well, he put his hands on me. I mean, he acted, that guy touched him trying to get his attention. And that was ever before. Howard, because I agree, his behavior was reprehensible, but you have a heated situation, I think it's probably best not to put your hands on anybody in that situation. Well, I mean, I understand that, poll, but I mean, the rest of my face is saying, wait, wait, hold on, trying to explain to him? That's all this. That's not battery, okay? That's a whole different thing. You should never. We saw woody Hayes do it, okay? You had to come to the player a terminator here. We saw Willie Hayes run the score up on bitch and he was up 40 something points in the fourth quarter and went for two, okay? I didn't try to knock him out after the game. I mean, you as a coach, you can not. One of my favorite lines ever when they asked the coach I said, how come you went for two? Remember this one, Randy? He said, because we couldn't. I like that. You said that. That's one of my favorite lines ever. I just don't hear that's great. That's just awesome. I don't see how John Howard the remainder hit those. Being a head coach and then hitting another assistant coach. You know what? I hate to say this, but I'm going to, okay, I'm going to call it like it is. Stop tells me if Joanne Howard's wife. And other stuff was black. That guy would be fired immediately, okay? Absolutely immediately. I'm shocked. I'm shocked. That's the rationale you came up with. Tell me like it is. I'm just telling you. You know, I know what are we living now? Tell it like it is. Paul. Come on. There's only three conferences you can play in if you want to play the very best. You know what those conferences are? What? They have seen the NLC and the SEC people. Darryl came prepared today. We will continue John chalking next hour on Nick Saban. Did he or did he not throw his players under the bus and that speech last week? And if he did, will anybody say I'd probably not. We're taking a break here, more after.

"The pride passion then pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul fine bomb show our two podcast. Welcome back, we have reached the second hour big first hour. A lot of conversation about the juwan Howard melee yesterday, reaction from pat 40. We're also, we also have been talking about the CFP decision on Friday to end the talk of expansion. We are taking your phone calls at 855-242-7285 basketball ahead with Andy Katz. So we'll get his take on the Howard situation and the SEC shaping up to be a two horse race as we head for the final two weeks of the season. Let's get to the calls and cherry is in Missouri. Hello. Thank you, Paul for taking my call. Thank you. Comment, I will talk about old Charles. I remember here a year or two ago and you probably remember this where you were going to set him up with somebody's mother and Carl said he didn't need to Charles that he didn't need no help. He's back to court and evidently. I get a kick out of Charles I was down here. It's amazing what a couple of lonely years in real talent do to your perspective. A couple of little things that we were then a bar down to Panama stadium vacation. And everybody in there was trying to walk with Charles. They'd say what your mouth qualifying, bob. And I remember one time that he said he'd like to go down to the gas station and get a hot dog. And they said, well, you put on it. He said, man, I like to come out of my chair when he told them, but I do enjoy. I'm sure glad he's calling back at the end of the season. He's entertaining. Thank you, Terry. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it very much. We have a lot of callers who cycle in and out, some who quit every day. But Charles, Charles has been gone for a long time. He has done this before. I don't know if it's the crop responsibilities he has this time of the year. You don't plant in late winter, do you? You can? Yeah. Okay. But he is back. And he's on the prowl. Mel is up next in Florida. Hello, mail. Hey Paul, happy Monday. Same, thank you. Look, I was on vacation last week all week and I missed every show, but I take them. And I listened to them over the weekend, not every caller, but all the guests and I don't know if that's loyalty or a sickness. Well, I'll tell you what, you picked a good week to listen because I did. We didn't talk about anything substantive, but we really had a lot of fun. And it's not a sickness to like this show. Or otherwise, I would be dead. So I'm just a member of the family, but look at what I'm really talking about. I'm glad to hear that, because this is an addiction that can be dealt with. Unlike some. Well, I don't want to deal with it. I just want to stay addicted. Well, stay addicted because there is no cure. I mean, you can go to every doctor in the world, and he can't wean you off this show. No. But first of all, before I get to what I called about is that color earlier about the heart attack issue and whether or not you could be held liable. Yeah. Well, I practiced law for 40 years and there's a thing called moving to a nuisance. In other words, if you build a house next to a rendering plant, you can't complain about the smell. Right. Okay. So you could use that defense. They moved to a nuisance. Moved on this. Okay, I'm glad to hear that, though, because I got very concerned many, many years ago. Do you remember, it was probably 25 years ago. There was a show called those. It's the Jimmy Jenny Jones show. And somebody was on her show and died. And that made me very uncomfortable. And the reason why it made me uncomfortable is about three months later, we had two of our callers in the studio one day. Yeah, I don't remember what happened. But we had these two guys getting into it. We were in the 6th floor of a building and I was convinced that one of these guys there happened to be Shane from center point who's dearly departed was going to pick up the other guy and throw him out the 6th floor window. And that's when I finally decided that we had had enough and that was like Jerry Springer. Yeah. And I will tell you to this day, I think he would have done it. Had we not intervened? Well, the real reason I called as I was listening to the show's last night and it was the post Brian fiasco at auburn and I listened to all your callers that numerous ones talking about it. And then one caller talked about or you had the issue about coaching or on wanting to get back in football. Right. And so the thought occurred to me that Brian is really a dead man walking at auburn and it's all a matter of time maybe next year. Am I too far fetched to meet for me to say Ed on geron is going to be the next sovereign coach? Mel, I think it is. Yes. Because and you'll understand this being an attorney. But this is my opinion here because I don't know what's going on in Baton Rouge any more than you do, but I think as long as you're on completely escapes, all of these, this title 9 issue, even though he's not a defendant anymore, I still think that is going to stop someone from hiring him. At least until it is cleared up. Do you think that that would stop auburn? They hired Bruce pearl..

"And just blew my mind when I saw that. Well, I hear you, and we talked to Don staley about that game with the Yukon schedule this week, too bad. They didn't play it because South Carolina would have won. But they couldn't do it. Thanks for the call. Justin is in Alabama. Hello, Justin. Hey, Paul, how are you doing today? We are well. Thank you. I was calling about when Texas and Oklahoma joined the league coming up in the next couple of years. I know it's been suggested that the SEC conference would move to a four part system and as it currently is, I play 8 conference games and four out of conference games. I was looking at this and I came up with that idea that moved down to move it up to 8 conference games, but the not our non conference games, but the non comforts game would be the winner of pod one, first pod two and split the pods of the winner of the pods would play each other for the game and then feed it out like that to the two seed of pod one would play the two seat pi three just kind of it would kind of give it a playoff format and I still think we would get the best teams into the yeah, Justin. I appreciate your call and your suggestion. I don't think it's going to work. And right now they don't know. They are meeting throughout the spring. There's a group of people that the athletic directors who are knee deep into this, including the Texas and Oklahoma athletic directors. I'm sure have a say. And they are unresolved at the moment. But the flaw with your system is that you have to end the season by a certain Saturday for the SEC championship game. And if you add that, you're now talking about Thanksgiving weekend, which is a traditional weekend. And you eliminate a lot of other schools, television would probably not permit that. I appreciate the call. It's an interesting suggestion, though. Let's check out Dan, who is in Ohio. Hello, Dan. How you doing Paul? Thanks for taking my call. Thank you very much. Yes, sir. Question in a comment. I have a Joe burrows fan and I just curious how you think I'll do against Kansas City. Yeah, I'm a huge Gilbert fan as well. We had Jimmy burrow on yesterday. I think they're going to be a little overmatched in this game. That would be my quick read, not that I'm an NFL expert, but I think this was going to be extremely difficult for them. They have exceeded expectations, but I just wonder if they can create enough offense to meet the chiefs. I need more protection for boroughs. Yeah, well, I think the 8 or 9 checks would indicate that. Yeah, that's correct. And my other comment is, you were talking about black coaches about Indiana facts for basketball and they've got Mike Richard over their coaching now. He's really a good coach. Yeah, he has a good coach and a legendary figure. To me, I don't think 76. He played on the Kent Benson team. It was Queen buck Quinn Buckner on that team, too. I'm trying to remember. Yeah, the team was at the undefeated, that was the undefeated team, wasn't it? That's correct. That was two teams. One of them basically, if Scott may have negated our broke, it probably went back to back. So they lost a year before to Kentucky if I remember correctly. That's correct. Yeah, no, that is one of the greatest runs ever talking about the wooden runs, but that was in the middle of the wooden era. And they still did it, it was just simply unbelievable. There were 32 and a 32. Right. You're absolutely right. And I tell you what, it's going to be interesting if anybody can ever go into Peter again. Well, wasn't Gonzaga on the verge of it. They were. Yeah. Was it last year or the year before? I've lost track. I think it was last year. I'm used to Gonzaga blowing it at the end. I'd never can differentiate which year, which year they did. Hey, thank you for the call. Interesting call, by the way. Mo is up next in Alabama. I fall. How are you doing, buddy? We are doing well. Thank you. Yeah. Colin about that guy. He calls himself, ah, man. I got a better name for him. How about pineapple? Come on, what is that? What is that supposed to be? Your shape like a pineapple. And the guy that's legend is I'm in and legend. Are they dating each other? Because that's all they talk about when they get on your show is each other. So that's, and I was going to ask you they asked. Do you ever thank you ever go back home to Memphis? You think you're ever moved back to Memphis back home? No. I don't. I mean, I love growing up there, but I have not lived in Memphis since I was in high school. So our college, I should say. Yeah, no. It's just one of those things. I mean, there are plenty of places I would probably consider going back to, but I don't think are you from Memphis? No. I don't think I've ever been asked that question before. Usually, would you go back here, would you go back there, but that was a pretty easy answer. Okay, we are going to head to the break here. We have a basketball coming up in a few minutes. We have pat Bradley as well for the folks who asked about the guy that asked about basketball a minute ago. And.

"Don't I don't know if it's I don't know if I would call it a football movie. No? Oh jeez, well then I don't even know. I put nothing. I have 94. Okay, this is ace Ventura pet detective. Oh, yeah, I definitely did not see. I mean, I didn't see it either, but apparently you think about you're supposed to think about it as a sports movie. So in this, Jim Carrey is our goofy detective named ace Ventura, who specializes in animals. He goes in search of the missing mascot of the Miami Dolphins. I think along the way, Marino gets kidnapped too. It's true. There's actually some very problematic things in it when you look back at it. I could imagine. But it was very beloved for the 90s, for sure. Yeah. And how many people how many teenage boys were just holding ace Ventura at you in hopes that you would, I don't know, either go on a date with them or let them feel like homework. I don't know. I went dark on that, sorry. All right, so next. Number 7 from 1996, Michael Jordan. Yeah, but I'm a baseball player now. This is welcome to the space jam in his space jam. You know what was funny? As I was looking through the quotation section on IMDb, it was very much like Bugs Bunny and tweety bird. And like, yeah, or like one of the names of the monstars or whatever. So you have to find a quote that wasn't like, hey, Michael, thanks for playing basketball with us. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So yes, of course, the original space jam. And a desperate attempt to win a basketball match and earn their freedom. The Looney Tunes seek the aid of retired basketball champion Michael Jordan. And just a little tidbit about Michael Jordan. He wore his North Carolina tar heel college basketball shorts under his Chicago Bulls uniform in every single game he played as a good luck charm. I can't imagine that they were even recognizable as a clothing item by the end of his career. But yeah, he was very superstitious about that. I will say a great documentary that's on Netflix is the last dance, which is about the final season of Michael Jordan with the bulls. And it is amazing. It's amazing. And I'm not really like a huge basketball fan. And it's like, it's great. It talks about his life. It talks about his career and how he has like this crazy intense single minded focus on being the absolute best no matter what. It's a great documentary. I highly recommend it. Yeah. For anybody. Awesome. All right, we're nearing the end. Number 8 from 1994. Julie pierce. When do I learn to how to break boards and stuff like that? Miyagi, why break boards? What boards do to you? This is Karate Kid two. I'm sorry, Lauren. This is the next Karate Kid. No, no. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Is this the 1994 the next Karate Kid? So this is Miyagi meets the widow of his commanding officer and he gets to know her granddaughter. Julie, who's played by Hillary swank. She is angry teenager who's still feeling the pain of losing both her parents and an accident. She's having problems with her grandmother. And Miyagi decides to teach her curate to get her through the pain and issues and back onto the right path. So I don't think this one was well received, whether it was because people didn't think girls should be playing karate or what, but you sometimes hear this as a punch line for things. But I don't know why. That's a shame. I didn't even know there was a third one to be honest. The next one, the next Karate Kid. All right, number 9 from 1994. Ranch wilder. And Ben Williams makes a miraculous catch. Roger, holy cow. This is angels in the outfield? It is angels with the outfield. See, I thought this was the hardest one. This was the one I also saw like 90 times. A bunch of times. Wow. So yeah, when a boy praised for a chance to have a family, if the California angels win the pennant, angels are assigned to make that possible. And two of the actors who played angels players, Adrian Brody and Matthew McConaughey went on to win Academy Awards for best actor. Get out, I didn't know that those two are very long time since I've seen it. Yeah. All right, and finally number ten from the year 1992. Gloria, I'm going to get on that motherfucking show and I'm going to win because I'm filled with more useless goddamn information than any human being on this fucking planet. Who's James K. Polk? How many moons are on Pluto? What's a quint? It's a food Billy that starts with the letter Q, and I got 7 more. I don't know what this is. I don't know what this is. It sounds amazing. Honestly. Okay, you should know this one. Well, you're not like you personally should know this one. But it's one you should know in general. Okay. Is white men can't jump. So, oh, right. Yes. Oh my God. Yes. So that's what's a name with the name. Gloria. It's a rosy Perez. Yeah. So white men can't jump stars. Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson as street ball hustlers and Rosie Perez is Woody Harrelson's girlfriend Gloria. Her goal in life is to be on jeopardy. And she gets on the show and makes a big comeback with her dream category. Foods that begin with the letter Q. You know, I think I've watched like half of it while it was on cable at one point. And I really should, I mean, Rosie Perez is an absolute superstar. She's incredible. So funny, so beautiful. Can't do any wrong. I should probably watch the rest. And that's really what I'm very funny. Less the basketball hustling and more of the Rosie Perez part I think is. She's the star, Frank. Yes. Terrific job, Lauren. That was great. That's a great quiz. Thank you, Julia. Welcome. Thanks everybody for sticking with us and learning all about sports. We've learned about great. Sometimes trivia people don't like to learn about sports. So I don't know. I don't. Yeah. I mean, sometimes that's why you have a team. Not one sport on your team. Exactly, you gotta do it. It's a well rounded grouping. It's really nice. We can't everybody. I think it's kind of it could be anyone that comes through and wins it So he should win it. But i don't think it's a given based on you know just because it's gonna geez just announced on friday that you have to pick up your own metal. They can't even hanjour the metal so it's definitely a different feel you think. He picks it up with his teeth like it's wimbledon grass like crawling. Whatever watch this flexibility. Look what i can do. No absolutely but with that in mind of course again this week. You are with the tennis one crew covering all things happening at newport. I know you also just wanted to hurt my feelings talking to john using earlier this week. Ucla guard who yes ripped out hard but of course for all of our listeners. What do you have coming down. "Half and other wildcard with kevin anderson and it just would have been nicer if there was a way to figure out to have anderson and sock you know at the bottom part of that bracket but i guess i don't that's the thing out you know those those wildcards. I'm not quite sure how you see them. And if it's fair because same query was the two seed and he gets bounced in straight-sets No you're absolutely right. And that's sort of the beauty of tennis right. The fact that the draw can break that way and it does look like as of now. Excuse me if sasha google can get through this kevin anderson test he is going to be the prohibitive favorite in that final end again. I wanna talk about. Both of those semi-final matches i'm fascinated. Hear your thoughts on brooks be in particular but before we do that i want to ask you about something because again you're on the ground and the one thing i think i missed more than anything is just being on the grounds like orlando spoiled. Me because you're back on the scene in that environment and ask someone covering a sport just a difference to being there versus having to cover it remotely and being there on the grounds. I think you can speak to this well. There's a podcast. I did coming out early next week. Where we named the ten most identifiable identifiable players right now in american tennis. And i made an argument that jack sock is fourth on the list and certainly by his singles ranking. He's outside the top two hundred entering the event. This weekend you know. He isn't that mainstay at the top of the doubles rankings. That he was in the prime of his career. But i still had him number four. Because i've been to those events. I've seen the way. He captivates the crowd. And i know in my circles. The tax jack sock is playing is one that will get people to go watch tennis casually and so you know again you're there. You've seen the response not only to him in singles. But he and bloomberg as a doubles duo. Would you agree with the sentiment that jack sock one of the most identifiable one of the most popular players right now in american tennis. Yes and you know this may be blasphemy. Me to say. I think more people gravitate to jack sock On the court is play the fact that he plays. Obviously she goes and doubles mainly doubles player. Now then john is or riley I don't get the same sense that people are drawn. Either one of those guys and this is not a slight against large people in terms of height. But there's it's just you know if they're servers on it's it's one in and a lot of seven sixes and so doesn't captivate people as much and so if you were to have one american you want jack sock. He he's gonna play bows and he's.

"Wondering if we should do anything it lock ourselves in a freaking basement. Hey, wouldn't be saying that if his teams for no instead of two into exactly I mean, not only to into, but they get their asses kicked by Illinois last night. I mean, they got pummeled at home. And so if you come out with that statement, you know, prior to the game. Or, you know, maybe in a couple weeks when you're seven and two When you get your ass kicked by Illinois, and then you come out on your side. We probably should write and your and your duke and you're supposed to be in a up in up cycle. Not a down cycle. Yeah, absolutely. And Coach K knows if I ever have the chance to ask him one question. I'm gonna ask him. Why were you at the scoreboard? Sweet thing. Sweet 16 game against Utah. Why were you at the scoreboard when the game was over? You want by five, but you're blowing a gasket trying to get a last second foul And they went, of course, bought both teams back out of the locker room and Quinn Cook got Two free throws misses the first makes the 2nd $14 million shifted hands here in Vegas. So that was major. I was doing work for Matchstick over there, ESPN you and then Andy. Andy Katz wanted me on his show, right? And then when I told him, you know About that many Saigon. Next thing you're gonna tell me about flying, you know, flying saucers and UFO's and and conspiracy theories. I go, Andy, listen at $14 million. You're not Vegas, right? You don't know Vegas. You don't understand. Vegas, your college basketball junkie. You You do a great job writing, but you don't know crap about Vegas. So you called me. To put me on your show to ask me the inside stuff that I know. And all I know is when everybody was shaking hands, Utah because what happened for you folks? It didn't see it Or don't remember. Dylan, right? Who's also in the NBA. Now you talk first. Okay, right. Good ball player. Alondra 2.5 seconds left. Utah has scored to cut the game down to five. The line on the game. 95% of the places was 5.5. Okay, I had bought it up to six. It was May Bovada had it. It's six but everywhere else had 5.5. There were a couple five. Okay,.

Don't think he thinks it's better I. Don't think he thinks it's better than college and Shreeves interesting one right? He was a one and done, but he went back. His degree got his master's degree like he benefited greatly from it. I don't think he obviously loves to college there. There's a ton of hypocrisy to it. They're just is. what do you do you think that the new name and likeness rule change changes the does it. How does it? It's GonNa Change. Something wants to change. What we, we don't know all they've done right now. It said I you know they can. They can get endorsements third party endorsements. They can set up their own businesses They can do things of that nature, but they haven't put any details and anything to it yet. I think that's GonNa be the kid. You know my thought Going forward was like okay. What happens your head coach? Doug and your head coach at you know down the road there, Lmu, or something like that and I run an auto dealership, and and I, got a ton of money, and I'm a boost army. Boy, right? Why can't you just tell me? Can you do me a favor? The number one part of the country can can we offer a million dollars and we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA run this. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA DOMINATE LMU again we'll be back like the old days and we're gonNA pay per kids. Well. How how is he? GonNa stop that there would. Where are they going to decide is too much. Are they going to cap? It is data loud. If you're a coach, can you I mean I just and for people who are people who say people who say like well, you can cap it and one of the statements. was you know like it's got to be a reasonable amount? Remember the last time they tried to cap something in say was when they had the restricted earnings coach, and of course all those guys at a class action lawsuit was disaster lost a bunch of money. Yeah I don't know what you do I do. Know that then you know you can't have conflicting brands, so does that mean if if a car dealership is the official car dealership of the program? Well, then you can't do a car dealership ad with any other car dealership, right? You can only do with that. That's what I mean so. Be Certain stipulations and a lot of them, and the Internet could not answer any of that. This morning are tall because they haven't figured that out I think what they were trying to do. Today was hey, listen everybody. We're moving for with US World King, some level of getting paid up your name image likeness. We're not sure the details. We still gotta figure that out well. That's the hard part to be honest. does it. Does it decrease cheating in college basketball? I don't think so I mean again I I. Don't think it changes at all I think you know you're going to have again. Coaches trying to circumvent the rules aren't giving good example if I'm a a head coach in in college, who may be played in the NBA and I'm GonNa mid major level I'm not going to say the name. There was a few of them out there while we continue Terry Porter, Damon Star Donyell Marshall Their Portland third is fighting for his job right now Portland. He's got I. Don't know how many million dollars in the bank. Why can't he decided? Hey, you know I. Want To keep coaching. I'M GONNA slip a half a million. To my buddy, who's running that car dealership and he in turn is going to basically. It and I'm going to say to this recruit. Hey, once you get our campus. You got a half a million dollar deal waiting for you. What does he have to SA- understand why his main Dar's. But you can't all I'm saying is he? Can if he's the coach and he wants to get this thing done, and he's got a bank account of fifty, million or a hundred million. Why can't he just take some of his own money? Which is illegal? The schools can't pay the kids directly. He's giving it to somebody that that runs our company and basically telling them to legally be able to induce it to the kid. Yes, coaches have never been guys that come out of their own pockets. That's one thing so. But if you're looking at the end game and the end game is nine only my job, but I might be able to get. A bigger job might be able to get a job for two or three million a year. You're just betting on yourself at that point and saying I'm GONNA. Make my program relevant. I'M GONNA fight I'm at least going to beat all the other schools in my league. I may be Kentucky Duke or the Big Boys, but if I'M GONNA MID Major League. Outbid everybody else. So why would you would be if they're GONNA? Make you know a couple hundred thousand dollars as opposed to ten thousand. I think this can really help. The mid majors who are the elite mid majors and like I don't know if you WANNA. Call Creighton a high major fine like I, if I'm a crate venue it all union panties, and why don't give shit, but the fact is a Creighton has an unbelievable fan base right there, the Lakers of Omaha.
