"And so how do you, how do you control all this? And I think that the all time worst example of this is the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 when they had Josh Rosen and they tweeted out like Josh is our guy and then cliff Kingsbury comes to the combine and I'll never forget it. I'm standing right there and he's just like, yeah, I mean this guy's awesome. It's great. And it just completely sunk the trade value. It changed the perception of everything. And it was hilarious. And so that's the example of what not to be. And I think that you can, you know, there's plenty of opportunity to grow from here. But organizationally, it's going to take a tightrope walk. Yeah? And look, if you want to do what the Cardinals did, you can just go get Andy Isabella right now. I know he's been up and down the ravens active roster and practice squad. You could have him for free. All right, last one here. Let's talk about reports that Sean Payton has been granted permission or excuse me. The Broncos have been granted permission by the saints to talk to Sean Payton. About their head coaching vacancy. We don't know exactly what Peyton's market is. I would assume all the openings are interested in Sean Payton. I just don't really know why this would be the one he would choose, especially if there ends up being some kind of draft pick compensation that has to go back to the saints. Which we're assuming there is maybe, I don't know, maybe it's just cash compensate the Walton family's just gonna cut a check to the saints to make this all right, but it's a team with so few resources.

"That happen, which is okay. We can install the tubes, but we're not gonna put it in. Come on. That's the compromise. Just the aesthetic value of the tubes. It was so it had a little crank dispenser. I mean, there were a lot of appealing things about it besides the deliciousness of candy and pretzels. And Cheddar goldfish on Fridays. Gosh, we're worried. Marcus Mariota. Let me ask you this. Because the way it was apparently messaged to the media, you know, I thought Arthur smith's comments when I saw them alone were kind of like, okay, he's kind of doing his Arthur Smith thing where he's sort of the grumpy guy and talking about the knee wasn't a problem, and now it's a problem. Type of thing, but the way everyone was kind of writing about it, it just seemed like there was, you know, that's where the okay, well, he took off without telling the team thing kind of went. Yeah. It's a weird thing. Football in general is just imagine trying to be like, it's like being a high school principal. You have no idea what's going on. There are a thousand people in the building. All of whom you're somewhat vaguely responsible for or have to speak for and imagine if a high school principal had to talk to the press every single day. And you'd walk out there and you'd be like, listen, Mike didn't show up for lunch today and you'd just be like, I don't know. Maybe Mike walked to Domino's. I don't know where he is. That's what being an NFL head coach is like. And sometimes players are mad at you for 6 months and you don't know. That's just a thing. I've been mad at, I've been mad at friends family relatives for a very long period of time and they never pick up on it and it just makes you more mad. I'm not saying that's what happened with Mark Mariota, but it could have been one of those, it could be that simple. It's like he called me weak armed 6 months ago and he never apologized for it. And then one day you're just like, I'm out. You know, I've done that too. Or I've been mad, not at Sports Illustrated. I was mad once. When I was on a beat and I got up and left, like in the middle of the day and my boss called me and he's like, what are we doing from whatever facility it was today? And I was like, I don't know. And he's like, where are you? And I was like, I'm the highway. And he's like, you have to go back to work. And I was like, nope. Not doing it. Maybe Marcus Mariota just kind of had one of those days. By the way, what's the baseball book? Can we plug it? Yeah. It's really good. Let me see. Now I'm going to, oh jeez. So Kylie mcdaniel is he's the front office guy that said ESPN future value. I think it's called. Future value. And it's kind of like what. The tagline is. The battle for baseball's soul and how teams will find the next superstar. With Eric log and Hagen, I'm going to butcher that name from fan graphs, but it was very good. And I was thinking of, you know, kind of trying to learn a little bit of crossover stuff with football. Maybe, but the one interesting thing is that he said that Moneyball happened ten God, it was longer than that. Moneyball is what, 2004? Three? 2004? It's early aughts. Yeah, somewhere in there and he said it's kind of all now just happening, right? Like we're just, we're all embracing it now. And that's very funny. It just shows how slow and how cyclical some of this stuff happens, but very, very interesting book. You're probably getting your holiday list ready. Tree? Check. Presents? Check. Kyler Murray non contact injury in Monday Night Football seems to be he's going to, look, we've seen ACL injuries take more than a year at this point. We don't know what the timeline is, but they might not have him, they could have him week one next year. They might not have him until later in the season. They might not have them at all in 2023. After he signed that big contract, this team, I think is uniquely ill equipped. I mean, I don't think they're very well equipped to win games even with Tyler Murray in the lineup. I think they're uniquely ill equipped to survive in injury to their franchise quarterback. Like whatever the forty-niners are doing, this team is the opposite of that. Yeah, I went through and so this is a little unfair, vaguely unfair because they have they do have some injuries, but I went through their starting lineup, like the guys that they had out on the field first before Kyler got hurt to try to get a big picture sort of droid view of the roster. And so here's what they have an offense. If Deandre Hopkins, who they traded for, he's 30. They have Trey McBride and Josh Jones, the tight end and the tackle. Those are your two guys. Two guys that you have starting on offense that you drafted. Two, and then you have Cody Ford, who you had to trade for. You had Billy price who you had to sign. And to sign Billy price, you had to cut Andy Isabella, who you drafted, the wide receiver, and never played. It max Garcia, who you had to sign off the Giants practice squad. Kelvin beacham, who you signed in free agency, AJ green, who you signed in free agency. Hollywood Brown he had to trade for, and James Conner, who you signed him free agency. Most of these guys are not signed beyond this year. Rodney Hudson is injured. He's going to be 30 two, 33. 33. I think Ronnie Hudson is more likely to retire than to come back in 2023. You had Justin Pugh who tore his ACL, or had some sort of India issue that he's out for the remainder of the season. But again, you didn't draft him either. And then so you're looking at you saying, okay, where are all the drafted guys? Okay, here they are on defense. Isaiah Simmons, zaven Collins. My Jay Sanders. Marco Wilson. Jalen Thompson, who's your supplemental pick and you re signed Buda baker and see her say, okay, all right, all right. They must have a really good run defense. Like really, really good run defense or really, really good past defense.

"Patriots had the 16th pick and traded out of the spot to the niners who took a guy named Jerry Rice. And I don't know if Jefferson has a chance to be Jay. Hold on. The hyperbole hyperbole police is here. Oh no, they're coming to get me. Here we go. Jerry Rice, I don't know if he has a chance to be Jerry Rice. But he is certainly on pace. And I was like, I thought what he did on Sunday was jaw dropping. It's magnificent. They had no chance of covering him. He wasn't just open. He was just, he was just coming across your TV with nobody dare. And I really felt like he could get 2000 yards. Burckhardt's call on, I think the big touchdown was, how is he so open? That was Kevin burkhart's call, and that was what everyone was saying. And I go positions, right? So it's like, you can kick the bears for taking trubisky over mahomes and Watson. You could kick the Arizona Cardinals for taking Andy Isabella a pick before DK Metcalf. This one, you know, in hindsight, of course, and Howie roseman will live with this Rhaegar one, but like Justin Jefferson has become such an unstoppable player. I don't think anybody had that being the scouting report. Ironically, that's our Monday night game, or one of them, Minnesota, going to Philly. And I just feel like this Jefferson thing is going to be lingering over the whole game. I like Minnesota. We'll get to that later. Second type of mistake. The casual fan mistake. I think this is the Russell Wilson trade possibly. I don't know for sure. Think about what they gave up for him. First in 22, first and 23, second and 22 second

"And maybe they would look at their hall and say, hey, we have to, I'd receivers. So what we got, we're feeling pretty confident with in our defensive backfield is now solidified. But think if they had taken Jameis and Williams, all three of them, oh my God, the threesome? Jesus, especially like with the way the wide receiver contracts to go and they're going to have an issue with Jefferson probably in a year. Yep. You know, on top of that, I thought that was fascinating. Then the paths obviously we'll talk about later with once we seem like once we got past like the 22nd pick, the draft got super drunk. When people were all over the map with who they valued and what was going on and people are trying to add receivers and like the Pats on the second round took the guy who's the fastest guy in the draft. And the next pick was pickens. Who is the classic man if this guy can bury the red flags? This is a superstar receiver. Of course, Pittsburgh takes him. Pittsburgh's drafted receivers better than everyone else in the league for 15 years. So they get that guy and my dad and I were just the combo of that. You're not the only fan base. The Giants fans, they took a guy one Dale Robinson at a Kentucky very early. And Juan Dale was at Nebraska, couldn't really get his grip, then goes to Kentucky, has a great year, but is 5 8 on a good day. Yeah. And it really was like out of nowhere had this amazing season. And giants, they took him over sky more who had heard a lot about over George pickens over a lot of these guys. So it's gonna be interesting because we go back and look at the wide receiver classes of recent years and like Andy Isabella was drafted by the Cardinals in the second round. He was taking before DK Metcalf. You know, like, we go through it. All these years, there's always the killer over debo. Absolutely. So you have these like butt, these teams have a certain need that they want to hit. The Giants drafted at 5 8, we'll see over some of these guys that were viewed as sure things. And I think every team has a different board and I'm not going to dismiss taekwon Thornton who runs a four two 8 for that patriots offense because they might need that more than what George pickens provides. Yeah, but the problem is you paid Aguilar to be your speed guy. So basically by drafting another speed guy with the second round pick that you're telling us the speed guy.

"Can we just make one quick side point? Jerseys are horrible investments. Don't buy NFL jerseys. And if you're going to buy an NFL Jersey, buy an NFL Jersey with your own name on it. It costs the same for NFL shop. Just put your own name in the number that you would like on it or buy a player who is already retired and is so far beyond the public consciousness that they can't do something stupid that makes wearing the Jersey just an impossible thing. That's why the last Jersey purchase I made. Maybe in my life was a Pete metzel Lars. You know, my last Jersey purchase was and it was a good one. You know what it was? Boy, it must have been a brown sky. Ozzie newsome. No, not a brownie. Yeah, okay. Not a browns guy. No. Not football? Football. Oh boy. Well, was it like a counter or a Jaguar Jersey? No, it was a Byron leftwich Marshall Jersey. Oh, that's pretty good. It's great. It's still in my closet at my parents house. I've never worn it. Yeah. That's the other thing. There's nowhere for me to wear it ever, but I'll never give it away. And I'll never let anybody have it. And every time I go home to visit my parents, I just want to walk into the closet and I want to know that it's there. Yeah. That's it. Trailing Burks gets dropped into a bit of a messy situation here, but I mean, the logic adds up and you didn't want to pay AJ Brown so you get a guy like AJ Brown with the 18th pick and man. It's a lot of pressure on him. Yeah, you know, what's cool though is that it makes you and I feel somewhat confident in our own process, right? Because we had pegged birx is like that debo Samuel, like the consummate that outside zone offense, wide receiver. And the Titans seem to feel the same way. I mean, this is going to be, you know what this is going to be. This is going to be a really interesting experiment. And I think debo is included in this and obviously he wasn't traded today, but like how much teams actually think. I mean, the packers got rid of devonte Adams too, right? How much these teams that are running this offense think that the offense can generate to the talent versus what the talent is doing for the offense. And the Titans are going to be the first team in the packers simultaneously to really test those waters and be like, no, no, we're going to scheme guys open no matter what we do. You could give us, oh, I don't know. Who's a bad offensive player? I'm not going to, I'm not going to make anybody feel bad about themselves. Pete metzler's. Move him to wide receiver. Age 54. Yes. All right, so yeah, we thought deebo Samuel might get traded tonight. He did not, but in other receiver did. Besides AJ Brian, that was Marquis Brown. Hollywood Brown goes to the Cardinals here, reunites with Kyler Murray. Obviously is well versed in that air raid style offense. I don't know about you Connor. I thought a year from now, we would be talking about Marquis Brown and like, oh wow, you know, someone in just in free agency just overpaid a lot for Marquis Brown. Like he's this year's Christian Kirk type of dude. I don't think the ravens were going to bring him back. And instead, you know, the Cardinals give up, they move down 77 picks from 23 to 100. And they're gonna have to pay Hollywood Brown now, which I don't know, I guess if you're building around Kyler Murray and cliff Kingsbury, maybe? At what point does Michael bidwill look around and be like, am I making the right decisions here? Just kind of follow the tea leaves, right? When this tandem first got together, they were so woefully like surprised by the way that the draft fell that they panic selected Andy Isabella, and then their big move last year was like watch out 39 year old JJ watt, who got hurt like four games into the season. And then you tank at the end of last year. And then extend them like 9 seasons. They're gonna be together through like 2027. Steve kaiman cliff Kingsbury. So we could have like 5 presidents by then. Depending on what's going on. And then to get absolutely pants, the way that they did last night, like you're gonna have to pay Hollywood Brown in this market, right? Which is gonna be wild. You're gonna have to pay more than Christian Kirk got, right? This is gonna be a $20 million a year contract because you can't just trade a first round pick for a dude and then let him go. And you spent basically the same amount that the eagle spent for AJ Brown, like it's a bad look. It's a bad look across the board. He's kind of just, he's more than a gadget guy, but I don't know how that much more than a gadget guy. It's fine. It's not rondale Moore, but it's also not and whatever. If Deandre Hopkins junior was available, everyone would go get them. I mean, he kind of was an AJ Brown, and they didn't go get them. So yeah, I don't know. It just seems like, okay, well, here's your number two receiver for the next couple of years, and. Yeah, you just gave up a lot to get them. I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, you know, part of the thing with Marquis Brown too is and again, I mean, cliff kings were able to know how to use him slightly differently, right? But I think a lot of the advantages that he had were that Lamar Jackson was fairly unique in his ability to extend like Lamar Jackson holds the ball for like almost three quarters of a second longer than Kyler Murray does. I think that's true. I would have to look back and snap to throw times, but which again are imperfect, right? But Kyler Murray gets rid of the ball like middle of the pack. Probably not as fast as he needs to in an air raid offense, but Lamar Jackson is one of the slowest releases in the NFL. And I think that helped the receiver like Marquise Brown. I don't know if it'll help him as much in Arizona, but maybe you get him the ball quicker. I don't know. And maybe a lot more space to run because you have Deandre Hopkins, but Marquise Brown's your legit number two, you know? I don't know. You could theoretically do some fun stuff with John ray Hopkins and Hollywood Brown and rondale Moore. I don't know if we've seen a ton of fun stuff from this offense outside of, you know, they do some trick plays like fake punts are fun, but you're probably not gonna have a fake punt as you. Probably not the sable.

"One 8 7 7 8 hope and why or text hope and why in New York? Tennessee redline is 808 8 9 9 7 8 9 and in West Virginia. 1800 gamma dot net. All right, we're taping this part of the podcast. It is 8 40 Pacific time, the first round in the NFL Draft just ended. The terminator Ben solak is here. What a night for him. Sixers? Staving off a potential game 7. It just would have been an all time catastrophe in the works, did not happen, blow out the raptors, and then your eagles. You're rooting for this. You root for them to get a little frisky. Yes, sir? They got super frisky. Were they the winners of the draft for you? One of the few winners, certainly. There's always more than one. But when you look at what they needed defensively in terms of almost letting Fletcher Cox walk and free agency this year, needing to be able to run this too high defense, needing to be able to get more substantial size up front to play with these light boxes. And then they kept on drafting these young receivers and they clearly can't evaluate them super well or develop them super well, and they just said, you know, send it to hell, we're gonna go and just get 24 year old AJ Brown. Really, really, really good night for the eagles both in terms of the short term, evaluating their coaching staff evaluating Jalen hurts and the long term. This is really nice build for moving off of Fletcher Cox, saving some money and also laying the foundation for a different quarterback than hertz. That's what it calls for. So great night for them. Great night for the jets, great night for the Giants, great night for the ravens. Well, wait, we'll talk about those other teams. The second beagle, they've made it new contract with AJ Brown too. Yeah, they somehow got him in a trade for slightly more than what the Cardinals gave up for Hollywood Brown, which was the single craziest transaction of the night unless you count the Patriots taking close strange 29th. But the AJ Brown, sometimes you talked about this the last time you were on the pod about, what is the value of these elite guys? Is it too first? Is it one first? Is it one person a high mid round pick and an AJ Brown? You could have told me they traded two first firm and I think I would have believed it. Why was the price for him so low? For our AJ or for Hollywood. AJ. Yeah, yeah. Right, I think for AJ the expectation of signing the extension is always going to change things a little bit, right? That's part of the hang up with debo Samuel moving from the niners, which is something that did not happen tonight. You know that you're going to have to spend a lot of money, and it always hurts to trade picks to spend money. Because one of the nice things about making picks is you get rookie contracts. So you spend the paper, you don't have to spend the money. The eagles were in a position to be comfortable with that. They had bottom 5 lowest amount of money spent on wide receivers among all teams in the league when you look at full salary cap because they were just full of rookies full of young guys. And so they had money at the position to spend. Whereas the Titans clearly felt as if they were not going to be able to get a good contract with age of brown for where they liked him. And so the eagles give Brown what amounts to 25 million per year, right? That's a 100 million over four years on the extension. So if you add in the 5th year, it's not going to be as much. But technically 25 per year on the extension, which is that kind of magic number now that's a number of debo is after it's a big number, but only 57 million guaranteed is really not that bad. When you look at the size of that contract, 57 million guaranteed 14 point 2.5 15 million guaranteed per year is not too bad on a contract that size. And so I think for a first and a third, expecting to sign that big extension overall, not too bad. You got to remember the cardinals had to got marques brown and the 100th overall pick, right? So they got Brown and then another round three pick just for that first overall, which was 23, a little bit of a less expensive pick, but Markey's Brown is not remotely an AJ brown's tier. I don't know if he's two tiers below. Yeah, is he one of the top wide receivers in the league? I wouldn't have them. If we made the list, like two weeks ago, we did this thing, we did the value about different receiver. Basically all the position guys who were in quarterbacks. I wouldn't have even put him on my honorable mention. Yeah, if you want to see what being speed pill looks like in the NFL, look at the way that Steve kyman cliff Kingsbury built that team, right? Because there was no reason to not pay Christian Kirk, even the Jags extension, to then trade a first round pick from Marquise Brown, who the only thing he does better than Christian Kirk is be fast. That's it, right? This team is so oriented on verticality. So oriented on team speed. So oriented being able to stretch the field, that they are bringing in a small receiver who's plagued by drops, plagued by inconsistency, who doesn't have much of a role besides running down the field, and you would have thought when they spent a second round pick on Andy Isabella four years ago, and that totally lampooned because you could only do one thing that they would have learned their lesson. But they knew AJ Brown didn't was upset with the Titans. They could have made a call to John Robinson. I'm sure they did and ask and see what the situation was with AJ Brown. But they have prioritized team speed, especially on offense more than any other trait in Arizona. And that's how you get guys like Marquise Brown on this sort of a trade. How do you get a top ten pick on Isaiah Simmons? Because you just believe being fast is the solution. This is the NFL baby. You gotta hit somebody. And the Cardinals don't believe that. And that's a problem in their team building philosophy right now. Well, wasn't isn't he close to Kyler Murray too. That was the other thing that seemed like let's try to make Kyler a little more happy move. Oklahoma connection. Yep, they played together 8 in college and that always is good. That's always nice. It's important to keep reporter back happy. But I think it would have been easier to just sign him to the extension. That probably.

"Find us on your favorite podcast app. But let's move on to AJ Brown. I think there is a world where one year from now, we are in agreement that AJ Brown is the best receiver in football. I think he's in that class. He's obviously perfect for what the Titans do offensively. And I don't really know if there's any scenario here for the Titans where they don't just figure out a way to get him paid and probably do sooner rather than later. Yeah, the Titans are interesting because they, I think they realize how valuable AJ Brown is and certainly Derek Henry Derrick Henry is the focal point of that offense and makes a lot of things work, but even without him. I mean, we saw an extended sample size when he was down. AJ Brown can just take over games. He's the perfect receiver for that kind of offense. I mean, the way that he runs certain routes, it's just everything is perfect. And so, and I would guess in the next year or two, you're going to be looking to break in a rookie quarterback or you're bringing in a different veteran quarterback. I think Mike vrabel was not secretive about his waning defensiveness. Let's call it, that's like a legal way to put it, right? Of Ryan Tannehill. And so I think at some point there, you're going to be breaking in a new passer. I have them taking Desmond Ritter mmm mock four. So maybe that's the answer. I don't know. But either way, you need to dominant wide receiver. You need a J Brown. Because you have to start thinking about holding on to assets, right? I mean, John Robinson is good at his job. But you lose Derek Henry at some point in the next year or two. And then you can't also lose AJ Brown. I mean, that's it, man. I mean, AG Brown is the focal point of this offense. As soon as 2023. So you have to keep them in there. And, you know, it's funny. The strategy has been, you know, a lot of these teams saying, okay, well we don't necessarily to pay wide receivers because the draft class is coming in are so, so good. And we can just go to round two and pick out our AJ Brown or our debo Samuel or whoever it is. But there are the draft, the draft is a bit of a risk, and I think, you know, GM sometimes lose track of that. I mean, you can certainly ask how we rose in it about the track record of that team so I can see that you have JJ Whiteside was in that same 2019 second round. You have Andy Isabella. Paris Campbell, Jalen Hurd. I mean, those guys are other day two receivers who came off the board. And obviously they are not going to, they're not going to get their second contracts with their with their teams. I mean, look at Ozzie newsome. I mean, arguably one of the greatest general managers of all time. And could not draft the wide receiver to save his life and tried. Many times, you know? It's a tough position. It's a really tough position to project. And I think it's only gotten, well, there was a window in there, especially I was talking to Ricky proll about this actually, not too long ago. There was like a window in there, especially where, and it's changing now, but that they weren't changing sides of the field because they just wanted to run everything quick and they wanted to run everything with tempo. And it's so RPO heavy that these guys would just stand in one spot and run like the same two or three routes and then you would learn your route tree basically in the time that you left college and into the pre draft process. So there's a lot of stuff in there that, you know, we don't know how that's going to have that's going to play out and how that's going to unfold. You know what deebo Samuel's going to do? Terry mclaurin is our next guy up here. It sounds like he will not hold out or the early reports here and he will be there with Washington commanders in there. Off season program and all that stuff. But he is, I mean, gosh, the quarterback situation is so dicey in Washington. He becomes a guy who is so crucial to anything they're going to do offensively here. And again, I think in the same manner as a brown, I just don't see a scenario where they can afford to let him out of there. Yeah, I mean, Terry McClure and it's funny, like, talk about leadership and well, I don't want to say leadership. I don't want to equate leadership with not getting your fair market value. So let me back that up and not sound like Lou holtz here for a second. You talk about, I don't know, putting the team ahead of your own needs or whatever, that's a guy who could just show up and be like, this entire organization's a mess. You just traded a ton of capital for a one year rental of Carson Wentz. I'm the F out of here unless I'm getting $70 million a year. And they'd probably have to pay it. I mean, if he's gone, that offense is like, gosh, it's like, well, you're older than me. You have electric football, right? You remember electric football? Yeah, I'm not that old though, but yeah, everyone does electric football. Yeah, my dad has an electric football set. I'm not saying that you're old enough to be my dad. Although, I guess. Kind of worked out. That would have been a wild time in high school. Well, I'm not going to get into that. But you know how you just put all the guys on the board and just be like, and then everyone would just go to the sides of the board, right? And I think that's what Washington's offense would look like if you took Terry mclaurin out of the fold. You would go a whole lot of wildcat, I think, is where you'd end up there. Jeez. DK Metcalf is the last guy we're going to talk about with apologies to Deontay Johnson and Hollywood Brown, but do you get Metcalf in a specially strange spot for a couple of reasons. Obviously the Seahawks are entering something of a mini rebuild here, you don't know who the quarterback is going to be, it's drew lock at the time of this taping. Do they draft someone next week? Do they go and get Baker Mayfield? We'll see. But DK Metcalf, it would there would be some logic to moving him and trying to get some assets for the future. Even if you were going to end up downgrading the short term, if you're the Seahawks at this point, the other thing with him is how much is he, I don't want to say a product of Russell Wilson, but Russell Wilson is the best deep ball thrower in the NFL. DK Metcalf is at his best. On those sort of downfield moon balls, now that's gone. Can you maximize his value right now in Seattle? Well, I think if you're any of these guys, right? I mean, if you're debo Samuel, if you're DK Metcalf, any of these guys, I don't think it really matters. You're hot right now. It's a weird market, like you get your money right now, right? And you're at that kind of cresting age where, you know, you're going to have to get the bag if you're going to get the bag. And I think for different reasons, deebo Samuel and DK met have probably see that. I agree with you. But then again, Gary, we weren't making these kind of financial decisions at age 26 in our lives. So I think it's a little bit difficult to project. I don't know, what were you talking about money wise at age 26? The biggest decision was usually, you know, you get the 5 for 5 95 at Arby's, and then you have to figure out how over the next 48 to 72 hours you are going to space out your RV sustenance at that point. Would you not get cheese sauce to then the roast beef could be like a multi platform kind of that's.

"The 5th round is the special team's grand for the Patriots. Maybe they take Annie Isabella and 5th round pick for Nikhil Harry. Maybe you even get something a little bit better than that. I don't think he will, but maybe you can get two day three picks or something like that for Nikhil. That's the way that I look at that trade. I think Nikhil Harry brand Isabella straight up the Patriots are giving up a little bit too much there. In my opinion. I'm with you, a 110%. When you watch the kill Harry's tape, another team is not gonna say, oh, snap, that's about a thousand yard receiver that we can get from the Patriots because they're not using them correctly. But they are looking at them and saying, he's a big body guy. He can block, we can use them in the red zone, maybe a little bit. I think that they have more tape to back it up, like you said. There is something a little bit more there for you to sink your teeth into. If the Patriots traded for Andy Isabella today, the only thing that I could pull up to be optimistic about bringing him in is his college tape. There is no tape for him against from Arizona. Maybe I could look in pre season. Maybe there's some pre season Arizona tape that you could pull up and he Isabella. So that would be an interesting move for the patrons, though. Isabella coming back to the New England area. Nikhil going back out to the Arizona state of Arizona. Both going back to their college programs. I know Nikhil Harry lives in Arizona for most of the off season. So I think he'd be pretty happy about going back out west. I think that would be something that he would welcome as well. So we'll see. I think that that's a possibility, but I wanted to get to that quickly. All right, let's go watch the drills. Go watch the combine. Alex and I will be back on tomorrow. We will recap what we see tonight out of the wide receivers will also talk about offensive line and running backs, apparently, too, where you're talking to me into the freaking come on. You know it's important. In minutes important. The third down back roll is important. That's all I'm looking for. But that's who's working out tomorrow. That's just working out tomorrow. That's all I'm saying. All right, so Alex and I will be back tomorrow. We'll keep it right here on patriots beat and on patriots press pass all weekend long during the combine. So stay right here with us and we'll carry you through all the way through until Sunday. But enjoy the combine tonight and Joyce Celtics grizzlies if you're gonna watch some basketball tonight as well and we will see you guys all tomorrow. Thanks so much for watching. "After the playoff loss. Kyler is really only familiar with that system at this point. That system is not great. Limited. I mean, you know, again, I don't want to sit here and criticize someone who knows so much more about football than I do, but it's not a great system that they run there. And there's really not any other options. So it's like, okay, if we're going to commit to Kyler, are we going to bring in a new coach? And try something completely different, which we don't know how our quarterback will react to that. Or do we want to do a complete tear down and tell Kyler? Well, you know, it didn't work out. We'll trade you off to somewhere and recoup picks and just reset it. I think they just put themselves in a really weird spot and part of the reason it's weird is because they got off to this flukey hot start last season, which carry them into the postseason, so now you can point to it as, well, we did make the playoffs, there's progress. But I'm not really sure there's progress. I think that, I mean, I made fun of Eric burkhart a little bit. Kyler Murray and cliff Kingsbury's agent. I said that the statement that he put out on behalf of Kyler said it like it was written by like an angry high school dad. You know, and it might have been. But. He's a damn good agent. To get cliff, that length of an extension off of. And here's what struck me, you know, he said at the combine, I peeked in on his press conference, and he said at the combine, I didn't do a good enough job when Deandre Hopkins went down of switching things up. And I was like, yeah, you know, that's a fair thing to say about the way that everything ended last year. But here's the problem. You're then basing your future success off the idea that like, okay, everything's gonna be fine when we get him back, but it's like, no. Deandre Hopkins is a soon to be, oh wow, his birthday is two days after mine. He's gonna be 30. In early June. So this will be his celebrate together. Yeah, I might call him. And this will be his age 30 season, which for a wide receiver, you know, I mean, he'll probably be good for another two or two years, but at what point does that kind of production arc start to tilt a little bit and I don't know. Now you're trading Andy Isabella probably and you're already admitting that you screwed that up. You spent a second round pick on that. You're going to need to get Christian Kirk back or you're going to need to figure out some sort of way to make something work there. You're going to have to get way more on the weapons front if you're going to want to legitimize what cliff is doing. And you might be able to. But I don't know. I mean, this is a deep receiver class, but at the same time, are you going to be able to get the number of weapons that you would need to give him the kind of like almost 5 wide receiver depth of like were there 5th wide receiver is a two somewhere else to make this thing work? And that's the thing. Theoretically, you might be able to do that. There are a lot of there are a lot of good receivers. It's a deep position. That said, they ran AJ green out there last year. He was productive in the early part of the year, but, you know, part of it was the domino effect of losing losing Deandre Hopkins and AJ green now becomes sort of your de facto number one type of guy, and he just, he's not anywhere near that guy anymore, that he was earlier in his career, but if you go back to the early part of the season, AJ green's numbers, like his efficiency numbers, as far as like a downfield target, they were, I mean, they were otherworldly. They were through the roof. I mean, he was everything being thrown his way downfield. He was catching, and then it sort of just regressed back to human levels. And that's kind of all it took. If Kyler Murray and AJ, these guys are not clicking on a level that is just frankly, it's not sustainable. It's just not going to work out for this offense, unless, as you said, they managed to get themselves, I don't know. I mean, there were a lot of guys coming off ACL tears. Maybe they bring them all in and get them all right and now we have, now we have now we have a team here. Yeah. Boy, how good did it feel for you to bring up regression in the Cardinals again, by the way? So good. It's tattooed memento style. It's tattooed backwards across my chest. So I see it every morning. It's like it's like how certain people have a certain political affiliation with. Whether it's whether you're left or right or whatever. It's like there's always like something that you just love talking about that's just like a truism in your world. And for you, Gary is apolitical, but he loves regression to the mean. If you brought up regression to the mean to Gary, that is like unmasking for a certain group of people. He's just like, oh, I could talk about this for hours. Yeah. I mean, that's going to be our next show, I think. We're going to skip free agency in the draft this year. We're going to talk about statistical regression. We're going to follow a show where Connor reads his tweets with a show on statistical regression. And then we will truly see the meaning of regression when we look at the download numbers. So this is like a football guy hot take, which I'm not qualified to make, but I'm going to try to make it anyway. And that's that you knew you couldn't get rid of cliff, right? Because you know you probably can't get rid of Kyler, or there's no better option right now. And you probably knew you were going to re sign them anyway. You probably going to you're going to have to do the deal now. No matter what. And so if you were probably kind and you were talking to Michael bidwill, you're probably like the only other thing we could do. Offensively, system wise is get another outside zone guy. Like that would buy Kyler enough time to throw and give him enough space back from the line to be able to see. But as we've seen, and I know you talked about this a lot before teams started doing it last year was on these bootlegs. Now, people are just running at the quarterback and they're jamming them up. And so I don't think that's the answer for Kyler either. And so I don't know if there's a system that necessarily makes a whole lot of sense for him at this point in time. And that's the thing. I would like to try him in and out if he'll come play on my football team that doesn't exist. I'd like to try him in and outside zone scheme and just see how it goes. But we have no idea. I mean, it really, it's such a huge departure from what he's doing now. It's really difficult to project him in any other sort of system. And I'm not making a Jimmy Garoppolo comp here, but Jimmy Garoppolo was a spread guy for most of his career. And then, you know, that's what he was known as. And then he gets to Kyle shena and they have him doing something different and it worked ish. So I don't know. I just don't know what you do with Kyler going forward, but I guess they made their decision and they're going to stick with this system with this quarterback in this coach. And we'll see where it goes because I guess the alternative was you really were going to have to tear the whole thing down and you're probably looking at a terrible year at 20 in 2022. And then.

"So don't expect Evan Lloyd to be available at 21. JC Jackson's market still unclear at this point, whether the Patriots are going to franchise tag the star cornerback or not, but Mike giardi of NFL network reporting that he is going to have robust interest in the free agent market at the Patriots do let him get to unrestricted free agency. He will probably break the bank and free agency and it's going to have a difficult time for the Patriots to retain Jackson if he is not tagged before the deadline on March 8th. And last but not least, Andy Isabella, the former UMass wide receiver, drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, has requested a trade and has been granted permission by the Cardinals to shop his services to other teams. Isabella's agent confirming to steal an S media that Isabella does want out of Arizona and he's gonna begin talking to other teams at the beginning of the league year and march and as the draft approaches about trading for the former UMass star, he would Andy Isabella that is be entertained by an offer from the Patriots. He would like to come to New England as a possibility, although he is not your typical slot receiver that the Patriots have gone after in the past. He's not less Welker. He's not really Julian Edelman. He's more of a vertical receiver than that. Maybe like Tampa Bay Scotty Miller for patriots fans that have watched a lot of bucks games over the last couple of years. That is one player I would compare Isabella to at the NFL level. He's had a really difficult time cracking the lineup in Arizona only one catch for 13 yards last year for the Cardinals. So that is your wrap up from the combine on Wednesday here on steel and as media dot com and on patriots press pass. Keep it right here. As we get into the workout portion of the week.

"It's not that that he's not but it's just he's taking on so much of the burden to make plays work but you're right sharing the burden of wing with the other side of the ball is is important and it's a it's a balanced team which is maybe why they will hang around longer than they did. Last season yours was wild to me about the cardinals. I was looking up something When i was writing about them that this afternoon after the four o'clock game. I said i wonder what happened to andy isabella right. That second round pick and remember you and i talked about this on the weak side podcast. There was that video inside the cardinals draft room. It just seemed like they freaked out because the person wanted got taken into their like any isabella and and it was so it seemed so perfectly encompassing of this marriage of a gm on his last legs in a college coach who been fired by texas tech the year before running an nfl team. You go. yeah this that's what this looks like and now like none of that matters. None of the learning curve mattered. None of the gigantic mistakes that they made seem to matter in his availa by the way is not played a snap this year. He was a healthy scratch They signed like eight other wide receivers to replace him and like but they've done this a lot in none of that seems to matter in like the jaguars hired arguably the most famous college football coach in history and he can't win a game in cliff kingsbury who was fired by the texas tech. Four zero with the cardinals. Like just nothing about this makes sense. And i love it. It's it's amazing. I think there's a little something to be said for. I mean look. We love jumping on people's mistakes I want to tear social betters. Any chance i get but the team that just won the super bowl has a gm who drafted a kicker in the second round draft jameis winston when everyone said oh james winston this will be jason lights legacy jason jameis. Winston works out. Yeah he'll be eleven and if he doesn't like he'll lose his job and yeah no he didn't work out. Change jason lee light one super bowl and i didn't even pronounce his name right like the first times air. So that tells you how well this is going to this point but yeah. I don't know this was This i think on basic cable channels. They will tell you this. This was a statement. Win for the cardinals. We don't really have that the nfl. They can't really right into the nfl. If they go nine and eight and say we made the statement in week four. Please allow us to join the postseason but This is a nice win. It gives them an upper hand indie. Nfc west going on the road and winning in los angeles. And i know they have something going here..

"Improve their roster. They brought in a couple of veterans they brought in JJ watt a defensive end. And wide receiver, AJ, green. So a lot of people don't realize there's one move the Cardinals made that I go, oh, that's a big deal. And people aren't talking about not a lot of people talk about special teams. The Arizona Cardinals signed veteran kicker Matt prater. And that was a much needed upgrade. Their kicker last year, missed a couple of field goals in key moments and the end of games. And now, unlike last year, Arizona has a reliable veteran kicker, a guy they can trust at the end of a game to make a kick when they need it. And adding Matt prater is a big deal for Arizona. Now, they also traded for new starting center Rodney Hudson. They only gave up a 7th round pick to get him from the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, I will say, despite adding Rodney Hudson, the offensive line for Arizona. It's still a question for me. I'm particularly skeptical of right guard Josh Jones and right tackle Kelvin beachum. This offensive line, they're making progress. They're not as bad as they were last year. But they're also still not where they need to be. And I frankly do not trust this offensive line at all against teams like Cleveland or Indianapolis or San Francisco. Teams that have a good defensive line are going to force Kyle Murray run around a bunch and survive and extend plays. And I don't think that they're going to beat a team that's got a really good defensive line because of their offensive line being such a weakness. Now, the Cardinals have running back chase Edmonds I really like him. He's a stud, and they also brought in former steelers running back James Conner. But the strength of this football team, like buy a mile. And it's kind of an unusual one for an NFL team. The strength of this team is their wide receiving corps. They brought in AJ green from Cincinnati. He's a stud former pro bowler and they're pairing him alongside incredible receiver. Maybe the best receiver in the NFL Deandre Hopkins, plus they have Christian Kirk and Andy Isabella, I'm also excited to watch rookie receiver rondale Moore out of perdue. This is one of the best if not the very best receiving core in the entire NFL. Now it's a weird thing to be dominantly good at because receivers are great, and they certainly alleviate a lot of pressure. But if you're a quarterback on his back, getting hit all the time, it's not going to matter. So offensive line is key for the Arizona Cardinals. And they got to get the ball out of Kyler Murray hands really quickly. I hope they move them around a lot outside the pocket rolling them out or hopefully extends plays. Now, Kyler Murray they're starting quarterback though. Is unbelievable. And thank God this guy can run. He's one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the NFL. He's got a massive arm. I know he's a shorter quarterback, but kyla murra's arm strength is actually supremely underrated. Go watch him in college. He made a throw against West Virginia,.

"Now he's going to be gone nice to appreciate the call there man. Yeah so here's a question but this sort of plays into what we talked about before you know with Nikhil Harry gone and what we've seen from the receivers which outside of jakoby Myers hasn't been much and I know big money invested in Kendrick born in Nelson Aguilar they're not going anywhere. Do you think maybe this hastens the Patriots pursuing another wide receiver to add to this roster? And I threw this out there and you're more plugged in in the league than I am but you know I could foresee a swap maybe if you went to Arizona and said we'll give you Sony Michelle and maybe something else for Christian Kirk who was playing with basically scrubs in the first preseason game for the Cardinals and they didn't pick up his 5th year option. I mean look I'm up I'm up for Christian Kirk. I'm up for Andy Isabella. I'm up for any of those guys. I mean I don't know what I'm just trying to look. I don't know what Arizona has at running back. Not too much. Tell you that. Chase Edmonds is there. They have eno Benjamin you know but Kenyan Drake was the guy that they had lost and so they don't have a lot there. I don't know if coach handsome cliff Kingsbury really cares about running the football it would seem like they have a surplus of wide receivers. The Patriots have a surplus of running backs Kingsbury played for Bill Belichick. You know why don't you do the Donna favor here? Hey I love it Chris. I think it's a good match. I think you're on to something and I'll take I'll take any of their water cell. Take keyshawn Johnson for crying out. He's good. Yeah he's good too. He is. With two E's he's a good player. Just don't break just to bring something up here. All right so it's a 17 game season so maybe some teams want to hang on to those running back city your point Greg maybe they wait a little bit but this three game preseason I gotta admit I love fake football. I watched this stuff. I mean this game. Yeah well it's a Greg tonight it was not great. And I liked the first game. I liked the first game. Yeah I thought the first game was entertaining for a while this one. Yeah this one was this one was bad and again it's pretty easy to get number two. How do they handle priests to give them a three and I will say this after like the last two games so that we see like do they even need preseason anymore? Like at some point I feel like this is gonna be any preseason games. Well yeah I mean I was just doing a member chat over BSG today before the game and somebody was bringing up about how you know how they're going to handle it and this you know are they getting enough work and the preseason ball and I'm like look they had no preseason last year the football was fine for the most part. We're in an age like the new normal is they're not going to they don't tackle. They don't do anything. I mean the Patriots after this game you realize the Patriots are coming back. They're coming back tonight okay? They're not doing anything on the field until Monday. They have a three day weekend. I don't know you know it's Labor Day's a little early I guess for them but they have a three day weekend. They've done this before. I heard Michael Lombardi on his podcast talking to he talked to basically he must have been Belichick because that's all we talked to for the entire practice on I think it was Wednesday. And he said do you know he said by the time the Patriots cut down to 53? They're going to have 8 padded practices. That's I mean that's amazing. And but it's not like the Patriots have like pushed the envelope in terms of contact and pad practices. So but in general your point it's well taken. I don't know how much they need preseason last year showed you didn't really need it. And that's the new norm. I agree with you on that one. Now we have bob he's in Needham. He wants to get in on the pre season. What's going on bob? Well first of all guys they'll never get rid of the preseason because of the money because they make money on it. So that's a move point. Another thing we knew that sounded like you was jaylen is in the Miyagi and that we had press conference by the way. And then about to get Greg you were going to absolutely spot on about the quarterback competition. I don't always agree with you but on this case I absolutely think you are dead on the ceiling for Mac Jones is obviously much higher. Kim Newton unless something we're dividing into happens is not going to be on the team next year. So the faster you get back to integrated into this conference and it seems like he absolutely knows the playbook up and down. Now to mention the fact that the team obviously seems to be behind them as well. He makes roles that I don't think the anticipation to us that he makes are more advanced than Jim new mix and the thing about he has Greg the one thing about I'd be more worried about starting a Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville with that horrible offensive line. We actually have good running game and a good offensive line. So he's not going to take 45 sacks. So I have a Lawrence could that could damage people keep talking about his confidence? Would if he does it he's going to have a great run again and a good offensive line to play behind. So I don't think he's going to get deemed to a pulp like I could see the guy I guess New York the Jets have a pretty good offer to learn. But I think Jackson really has a terrible one. Thanks bob. Appreciate it man. We're up against sorry. I mean I think that's completely valid that and it's something that I keep bringing up that I think people miss is that. Just in terms of the running running backs the offensive line having two tight ends. I don't think you get better situations for a rookie quarterback to step in. A guy in the style of Mac Jones than this offense. Now I will say that and this is related to what we said talked about earlier is that look I don't think the passing offense is going to be clicking for a while. And the only thing that you worry about is Mac Jones is all right Mac Jones is a heady knows where everybody's supposed to be. But like say he's waiting for Kendrick Warren to come open and Kendrick one runs the wrong route and he's not there and all of a sudden Mac Jones gets decked. Like should you just let Cam Newton take the hits with guys who are learning the offense and then stick Mac Jones in later when they know the passing offense better? I think that's something that you think about. Yeah that's cam is sort of the sacrificial lamb. But at the risk of being accused of once again sort of demeaning the performance or diminishing the performance of Mac Jones I'll just point out you know he said he knows the offense up and down. That's great but remember these other teams aren't game planning. This is as vanilla as it gets defensively. Like let me see him adjust the blaze and do this stuff when the other teams are game planning and trying to confuse them. Because nobody out there right now is trying to confuse him. Oh I completely agree. I mean the eagles played a lot of they played a lot of two shell and practice this week. We saw it again today. I knew the middle and I think you could even cam said something about this in the postgame. They knew the middle of the field was going to be open the scenes the middle of the field against this defense. It was open. You know they saw some things on film from the practice. It was not a challenging week quarterbacking wise and they're going to be many tougher days ahead for both of them. So you're absolutely correct Chris. So Greg you had a tough week with Adam Jones and I heard he would try to find out ones that when does the season actually start? There's a little heat on that one. I mean we're two weeks away from week one is just you know still the preseason in week one this year? What is Jones feeding you questions now? Where's the Jones Twitter burner account? You know sending stuff in. You're getting frustrated.

"These are the types of guys that have succeeded here. Even the guys that have succeeded here on a lesser level. Not the Wes Welker adelman's and the Randy Moss's and and those types of level players. But even a guy like a Chris Hogan or a Brandon, Lafell or a Brandon Lloyd or or some of these elements of Malcolm Mitchell, right? Some of these types of players, what were they were? All smart guys that knew how to kind of get open within the framework of the structure of a scheme that were good route Runners. That had some sneaky quit game. Is there something at the top of the route that was able to help them out to get open in terms of athleticism? But not necessarily these when you look at n'keal Harry on the practice field. He's a big dude, that's explosive dude, but those types of guys don't necessarily translate into what they want the wide receiver position to do. So again it's just I really would like to hope that they would start to look at it that way and see. Okay, these are the trades that work in our system. So let's focus on drafting players and even though it was a seventh-round pick, I think Tre Nixon was a step in the right direction in that, in that regard, is somebody that has some separation ability, it has some speed that has some good round pieces at the line of scrimmage and ability to get open against press coverage. So, there is some element to that evening, the seventh round pick. So, I think that is another sort of angle to this as well. There was one point that somebody made here in the chat that I wanted to get to as we wrap this up, dog. I thought was, was solid sort of jumping off point, of course. Now I probably can't find it, but I think the, the, a lot of anti Isabella Alex in the, in the chat page, I just is Andy Isabella, making this team right now. What does Andy Isabella give you that you don't already get from Jacoby Myers and Kendrick Bourne. Yeah, it's good question. Like, that's if you're going to train it took forever. Just as you find this, I'll go on this rant. If you're going to trade n'keal Harry for a player who's not going to make the team. What's the point? They're still dead money. It's no different than putting him. If you get a pic you actually have a shot at getting somebody. Who's going to contribute that should be the goal here. Get somebody back. Who's going to contribute even if they're not going to give tribute this year, I the whole and I thought about this before the Patriots, needing a wide receiver is an internet meme there. It's not based in reality, they added the two tight ends. They brought James White back, they added Nelson agholor, they have table. Of pass-catchers unless you're adding a true number one wide receiver and I'm sorry, you're not trading to kill Harry for Davante Adams. You're not trading to kill Harry for Odell Beckham, I don't care if it works in Madison. There's no way that is going to happen adding an Andy Isabella, adding a hunter Renfrow, I'm seeing in the comments. Jamison Crowder, who I am a huge fan of especially for the Patriots adding a Jamison Crowder wage doesn't help this team because that guy is going to end up playing about 15 to 20% of the snaps. He's not going to make a difference. And I'm not saying that the fifth round pick, you get in 2023 Dodge 3/4, n'keal Harry will be a difference-maker but there's a better chance that that pick turns into somehow whether your trade it, whether you make the pick one way or the other..

"His agent said. In that statement, is that over the last couple of months, they've worked with the Patriots and Bill, Belichick, and Josh McDaniels to try to find a role and find a job in a path for Nicole area to be successful here. And it just got to the point after multiple conversations with the team that the agent and the kill Harry, sort of felt like, it's not going to happen here. And we've been saying this for a while we sort of written. In this off I would say last season. Really that there wasn't going to happen here but now we've formally get the trade request from n'keal Harry and the one last thing about the way to catch thing. You sign Hunter Henry, you signed Johnny Smith. You expect those guys to now be your RedZone contested cats, right receivers and targets. So where are the targets wage opportunity for n'keal Harry? Probably not here anymore. As we can get into a little bit. Now, what the Patriots might be looking for in a trade, what? They might get back in compensation for n'keal Harry wage. And I think that that is a good place to start is the draft. And at that point in the draft, the Patriots, there were some rumors about them shopping, a play, n'keal Harry out there. See like Arizona, potentially being interested. Maybe, I think that picked I was at thrown out there was like a early day, three pick like a fourth or fifth rounder that obviously didn't happen to you, still feel like the Patriots could get that way. Decent of, because the fourth round pick is. It's not nothing right, you know? Right. That's solid, and now that's performed under par, you know? Yeah. And now we know that, you know, there's this place value on the 2022 draft, so, you know, would you rather have the a 6 in 2022 or a fourth and twenty twenty-three? I mean, that's probably a conversation. We start having well key was found pick for a reason, and I think there are teams, especially if they need wide receivers who may be willing to, give something up to ensure that n'keal Harry doesn't hit the open market. So I I think he's dead. Get something for my see. A lot of people throwing out in D? Isabella, can they trade him for right? Right, things like that. I, I don't know that. That's what the Patriots are looking to do. I don't think they'd be completely against a player player trade, if somebody came along and wowed them, but part of the reason this is happening is there's no room on the roster for n'keal Harry. Are you going to get a player that is suddenly a lot to make the roster? I don't think you're getting a roster lock for n'keal Harry. So you know it, maybe if you think Andy Isabella, I'll use him as the example is a lock to make the Patriots roster..

"And I still think that the point being is that I still think Cam Newton could have a role on this team, even if he's not the starting quarterback, right? I think you can have value and Cam Newton as a runner when maybe it's cam, as the runner Mac Jones is the passing quarterback. This is a very College like thing to do. But I just think that there is there's a there's a chance of that something that they entertain especially with the Personnel that they have when they get down in the Red Zone. Yeah you can throw it up the answer. Henry can throw it to Johnny Smith and these guys are big targets and stuff down there but I think wow. Good behoove them to just be a power run team. Once they get inside the tent and just pull everybody over. And that could be really helpful. If you have a guy like Cam, Newton that can pull the ball and run with it too. So I wouldn't rule it out. Bill Belichick has never been a huge fan of it but I still feel like it's something that they may be entertained. At some point, I feel like Josh, McDaniels could talk him into it. If he says, look, this is going to be a really effective Red Zone package Max. Going to take us between the 20s to get us down there. Once we get inside the 5, I want to put cam in and have him, run the ball in San Jose, Ur. Yeah, I think that that can be something that we can talk about our everybody. And everybody I mean wants another wide receiver, Alex. We, we talked about this every single week. There's a million questions about Julio Jones, Odell Beckham jr. Wide receiver trades of those type of things we can go on our rants about. There's not a ton of reps to go around. They've already invested in Nelson Aguilar and Kendrick born and maybe that's not the sexy name that everybody wants. But those are the guys that they just paid into. Then bury those guys down the depth chart even further after they just give Nelson agholor over ten million dollars. For the 2021 season doesn't make much Financial sense but this is the question that I guess most are the Patriots. Can add a wide receiver is a big-name wide receiver trade on the table. What are your thoughts? I mean maybe it is if a team wants to get dumb. If Atlanta wants to give you Julio Jones for for Thursday. Sure. I just again I I don't know. You know, you look at the majority of the market that's out there right now and people have asked me about Golden Tate, right? Is a popular name that comes up, you know, suck. We'll have floated in D Isabella, where's this guy playing is Andy Isabella better than Nelson agholor? No, right is, he better than Jacoby Myers song watch at best? I'd call that a wash it. Best for Andy, Isabella, that's it. Again, your top two receivers. I don't know why people can't get this through their heads..

"She's flipping the script. It's time for her to ask the questions. Here's jen rich with today's headlines. Hello everyone and welcome back to sports overnight. America jan ranch with you from phoenix rich here with me as well when you are. Not listening to us live on social media. Facebook twitter instagram at. What's up riches. At jefferson talks at always keeping score and of course the sports byline network at sports byline usa. This is the part of the night where i pose the question. Suggest hilarity hopefully ensues. If not at least some knowledge and or opinions on local headlines things that are going on saint patrick's day so let me ask you this. You relate sports and saint patrick's day we live here in arizona so it's a spring training thing but generally it's hockey night or it's a basketball night because of when it falls during the month of march you really tie the holiday into sports at all. The only reason i do is because it's my mom's birthday and we always do a spring training game with her four herbert thing. Sometimes it's the day before saint patrick's day sometimes the day of this year. It happens to be the day after But really glad we can do something for her birthday and especially glad that we were able to get some decently priced spring training tickets without having to take like a seventeenth mortgage on the house. Well twenty twenty did yield any baseball on saint patrick's day and it didn't really yield the opportunity to go out so we're doing better than we were three hundred sixty five days ago By we are still not doing terrific. People are still wearing masks out. People are still acquiring the still getting the virus so It's a little crazy out there. Still but Getting better hope springs eternal. And we're here talking about sports so it can't be all that bad Why don't we get started with your first question for me so Speaking of things can get back to normal. We did not have an ncaa tournament last year. Ncwa tournament last year for basketball. We do it this year. It starts on thursday with the i four. Will you be sitting down to watch all or any of these games origen. So we've got again for four teams playing into two sixteen siege. Four teams playing into to eleven seeds As far as the gonzaga game the play into play gonzaga and be the sacrificial lamb That's up to norfolk state and appalachian state I generally think that appalachian state's a bigger program but neither of these are really worth my time on thursday. You'll be different if they just started out by playing the number one seed but since it's just to sixteens against each other That's not gonna work out too well for me and then you got mount saint. Mary's and texas southern playing into play number. One seeded michigan. I really neither of these games are going to move the needle enough for me to give them even a second thought When i fill out my bracket i don't pick these games. I don't hold anybody accountable for taking these games. They are just yell. Sixteen seed west and sixteen seed east and then eleven seeds are interesting michigan state and ucla teams. That might not be the tournament and at least they're not taking all the opportunities from the sixteen seeds and making them all play in the first four. We are putting bubble teams in here Michigan state and ucla. And then wichita state and drake Wichita state drake winter's gonna play. Usc the michigan state ucla. Winter's going to play byu There's some intrigue with the the to eleven seats because they're halfway decent basketball teams. And you got a couple high majors over in the east. You know the byu awaits from the results of thursday right. Let's move onto professional basketball. Got some bad news of utah former. Nba big man shawn. Bradley was injured in a bike. Accident said it'd be paralyzed. How did you receive this well. I disappointed because shawn bradley as a player that i remember seeing play big just because he was so obnoxiously tall. Seven foot five. You know the guys. Like manute. Bol george moore and shawn bradley guys that kid stand flat footed reached their weapon grabbed the rim. He got into the league. He was around for a while because he was a mcdonald's all american going into byu He did his mormon mission and then entered the nba draft and went to philadelphia and He had been retired from the nba last playing with the dallas mavericks but To hear that you know somebody. That's that big that life's already inconvenient for be inconvenienced in the absolute worst. You'd be injured. Have their life altered so To shawn bradley those close with a. I'm really sorry. I received this. I received this news pretty hard. And it's it's really tough to take. It's not the five year old kansas city. Andy reid joyriding son took out and ruined her life but still sat on the last. Oh it's tough to hear moving on because we have to the patriots keep on signing free adrian. Free agents free agents. Should someone towel bill to leave some guys to be available for other teams. Yeah i don't know there's there seems to be enough going around. The patriots have money to spend. They had holes to fill They feel that they shouldn't be a seven in nineteen ever so. I think that they're angry. I think this is a response to the disappointing season that they had in twenty twenty as czar of the season as it was they had players opt out They'll be able to move some players around their defense The beginning players back from injury so It'll be a strong team but I think that they're doing the minimum to compete with buffalo in miami in the afc. They don't wanna finish third. They don't want to just be better than the new york jets. All right the cardinals arizona cardinals lawson players in gained some players this week. What vibrant getting from the cardinals transactions. Well the first one. I've got that i'm getting. Is that players really. Wanna play with cuyler mer that when you aj green. He's not making a financial decision. He's looking yet. He can have a lot of fun in this offense. He doesn't have to be the man fact. It's probably going to replace larry fitzgerald. I would think that he's replacing. More so Andy isabella and the whiffs that the cardinals have experienced on trying to acquire talent talent at the wide receiver position. But i think they're serious yellow. They're getting cuyler some protection. That's a that's a priority. They're getting chandler jones a complementary piece and jj wide I think that they've done a lot. Matt prater has been a solid kicker. He's been kicking inside for a while but and he kicked in denver before that. But i think that they are singing that they they're going to get embarrassed if they don't ramp up if they don't draft well if they don't apply the proper money to free agency you got seattle. You've got the rams with matthew stafford and then he got the forty niners. All those teams are good. I don't know who's going to win this division. But i don't even know if i pick a team that i would bet onto finished dead last in that division so i think that it's Pretty inspiring.
