I really really hope we get to the actual wedding in this because it makes me so happy. I've always said that if i ever get married. I'm probably going to be the one who proposes like. But i just thought it was such a strong match remembered really good work and it got me pumped for that match. And then they went and dropped a fucking proposal of me and a mixed tag match. The whole match was great. Beth involvement was great the teasing in the vignette beforehand. Where they said like oh you know it's time to take their relationship to the next level it was all the and it was all fantastic and it was just like a good solid fifteen minutes of joy if i can get fifty minutes of joy out of my wrestling than a week. I am pretty happy. So we'll take it as of you're listening to this. It is likely but not one hundred percent locked in that and punk will be debuting. And a w he will officially be all lead. Recently roman reigns had an interview with bt sports where typically as is typical in ill any televised wrestling interview. They're tr- they're trying to work in angle and put over something or berry something. So they asked roman reigns an interesting question. I liked his answer. I thought it was funny. What is triple h is Something now that he's lost political power. Do you see him trying to make the best of it or is it conceivable. He could even leave. Wwe and then he added with changes coming ten x t that caused you say to drop the show from its lineup considering the falling ratings and if so would end up on peacock so i mean i do wanna push back on falling ratings because the last two weeks were Were just from scifi when they got preempted to a smaller network up against the olympic. So we'll see how they recover starting this week. And and if there's not major changes between now and takeover we'll have a chance to see what the rebound is like. I said their ratings. They went up for a two four weeks. Had a pretty solid increase on tuesdays with aws not as competition and now. They settled very close to where they were the last month and a half to where they were the month and a half before moving so they just sort of have their core audience. they weren't growing. They fell from the peak at the pre pandemic when they were doing better numbers. But it's one factually speaking. It's not like there was some some nosedive in viewership. The last ten weeks that would that would explain this. You know vincent in fairly didn't get the big bump when they moved into. It wasn't like everyone who is watching bull shows. It wasn't like even three quarters of those people decided. Okay now. we're gonna wash annex t. I think they would get a better than they did when they moved. It's pretty remarkable The the jump that w dot they did six hundred eight thousand viewers there last wednesday night and then they jumped to one point two million the next week i mean gained five hundred thousand viewers and an x. T if i take the lowest number loath recent number of just under six hundred thousand back on march seventeenth. The high point then on april twentieth was eight forty one so they gained about two hundred forty thousand viewers compared to a much bigger increase for aws aws had the advantage of being on wednesday night. Still and i think a lot of people tuned in for annexed that first week and then it dropped under nine hundred thousand two of the next four weeks after that so aws. Bigger bump and exte- did not. And i just think it shows a degree. I think we're seeing wrestling fans have only so much time to watch wrestling. And they're picking their favourite and we talked about this With josh last night. The onsite correspondent that it appears that even a wwe crowds. There aren't a lot of w t shirts and that surprised me at target center week and half ago. I thought there's going to be people who liked both and they're gonna want to go to debbie show and show off their awa shirt that they're you know you know i i'm here but i've got a favorite or you know. There's this other brand that that you should pay attention to whatever reason people would do that. There's wasn't much of it from what i saw. I was paying. Attention are picking their show and some are watching. You know five shows including impact or our waitress japan but most people kind of pick in one or two that other favorites and and it's splintering the audience a bit and just didn't grab awa fans and convince them to add a second night hour an additional night of their schedule and part of that falls on annex t and doing more comedy stuff with robert stone. Andy hartwell and dexter. Loomis just became kind of sketch comedy. Show a little bit more than it had been off before. And i don't think they had enough serious stuff. That was over to make up for it. And i think karen cross was kind of weak as kind of a centerpiece at getting pushed. I don't think awa fans were particularly excited about him. So i do think some of that falls on on the decisions that tribulation and shawn michaels and company mate. Who for sure. yeah. I mean kushida guy. Hasn't been anything annex t the people they've brought over from the uk mine. Large grizzled young veterans imperium very dry. There's just they're just not clicking the way they want stick and it's there's some really talented people there that i just mentioned but i and they have their fans but i just don't think they've done anything with these people to really make people feel like they have to see them and there's those types all over the show right now roderick strike this whole diamond mine angling. Forget that they got rid of Tyler ross d away from the start. Yeah i think in fairness again. If i'm kind of thinking what would push pushback would people in half to our conversation. So far and one of the things they would say is we're stuck at capitol wrestling center which worked well in the pandemic and they had fans before anyone else did when those in those plexiglass pods. And i applaud them for having you know the mask. Having everyone wear masks still you know with everything. Going on florida But nevertheless it was sort of an advantage but not a big one especially when you look at daly's place and what. Aws able to do with that. Venue that outdoor venue and having an increasing number of fans spread out there But you know it was different than than it wasn't as big in terms of the scale and scope of being bigger arena but it felt intimate any actual organic crisp response. That said they're still there. They didn't get the from getting back into the life fans but even more so it's just hard to create stars when you're not in a big arena full of people reacting to them. I think back jason to the tna trip to the uk and how much bigger everybody felt when they would be in that building and your masters of fans reacting to them. It made me look differently at the roster. At that time i was like wow the it makes such a difference performing at a larger venue with that many fans and annex t takeovers also. Just were like whoa this way moreover than this hidden. You know this. This hidden gem on wb network. That's a niche. When you have ten thousand people in a major arena or more going crazy for the product and the wrestlers. It ever seen like big stars and annexed wrestlers haven't had that benefit of of in especially in contrast now with aws taking away a lot of their niche. So if you're hunter you're saying wait a second tour when we had momentum and build on that we could have had a whole new crop stars ready for you but it's hard to create stars like it's hard for veterans to seem like big stars when we've seen only one hundred forty people reacting to them any given week well and keep having them basically do the same. Mike's chick every single week even executives into really a talker. So yeah it's but you're right. I mean being in that venue is part of the problem for them but again it's is it because he didn't give them enough money to really make it financially solvent go on the road and i'm guessing now because i i would think that if usa had given them a big chunk of change they'd be asking. "The women's side of things brubaker. Where where where is she going to be in three or four months as a character. I hope that it's not in kind of the area that we saw her with her. Little celebration like i think that that's i don't want to see her. Get too cute with some of the stuff in terms of what you know what she does. I know that helped. That helped get her over but what got her over. Most was just kind of her bad s personality the match with thunder rosa. Like it's still like the nuts and bolts of what makes good good wrestling like those are the things they got her over most and so i know she can do funny vignettes. She's got that no ability. But i hope that she leans on just being a bad ass wrestler champion and i would put he'll opponents in front of her face In front of her that bring that out her in the best way. I think she did. I think you know you can go back to Thunder rosa for a really probably really really good few. I think there's a great story to tell to tell their but for me like her character is if it just becomes this one quirky kind of comedy thing. And she's the champion while doing it. I i think you leave money on the table. If you're eighty w i think you can have that and have that piece of what she does but i want to see them. Lean on that. She's a champion wrestler and then when a baby face beats are it's going to mean something big for for that for that baby face. I i was going into the double or nothing match. It was really. I was fascinated to see. Just how the audience would react any reacted positively and so. Yeah and it's like man like when you have that like that. Just kind of internal charisma that he does like with with the with that crowd. It's like sometimes. I feel like you just wanna. You should probably go with it. Even if it's not necessarily like where you plan on going. I i wonder if they kind of slowed her momentum by making sure that that she's stays in the he'll lane but at the same time. I can sympathize with that making that choice because being a heel is what got her over the hump to become the star that they that they want her to be so. I get kind of the debate there. But i probably would have pivoted just because that crowd reaction was so strong either way healer baby face i think as a character. You need her to be focused on. Just being you know being arrested or cut the promo be good in the ring. No some quirkiness here eric. That's in her personality. But i i would stay away from the grandiose segments like they did a couple of weeks ago. I thought that really hurt her. Yeah yeah it was. It was just kind of lowbrow. And i should their camp and i know she wants to be a little campy. I thought that made her not a serious champion. And i think you draw money by being serious issue with kenny omega too. I mean you just. It's tempting it's fun to be cute and amuse people but that's not where the money is. If you're a top act you wanna be amid carter then amuse us and be campy you know. Do what gargano doing. I mean you know you can have fun but if you wanna talk guy and tony kahn. If he picks them to be a top person should be framed in a way where you take them seriously and that that was not a title celebration where you are thinking. This is a top level wrestler with a top level title in a top level. Few that you pay money to see. It's part of the collective amusement part of the brand and you need to have your top people be serious not dumb. You can't have be quirky but you can't be that just sort of campy slapstick. Yeah and especially the timing of it. You know it's like you look at. I mean that was a long time in the making like crowning brubaker. As your women's champion she definitely had her ups and downs to to get there. And i think that what she viewed as a character at that time and china still does even is. Is that that definitive moment. That promo to to talk about that like it's like you know. When steve austin won the title wrestlemainia fourteen. He didn't come out there with a funny beer-drinking skit that that made everybody laugh. He came in there. Confronted vince mcmahon and cut a promo on what his championship reign is going to be like. And you know you're off the racist from there and i'm not comparing baker to to stone cold. Steve austin obviously but just the setup though you know you need to have that proper next step that defines where you're gonna go next and you know instead they just landed on camp and i think that again that hurt her. I'm staying on the women's side of things but jump into another company. What's your take on co gonzalez so far in exte- as their new centerpiece champion. I like her. I like her. I think she's i think she plays the part well. I don't think she's doing too much either. I think she's just staying in her lane and doing her thing. And i think for now that that works out fine. She's able to deliver on what she's asked to do In the ring. I think again like with her. You want to see her able to kind of put butts in seats and talk a little more. But her less so than brubaker. Doesn't really need to because it's not like the central focus of her of her gimmick and offer character. She's just she's a killer monster in the rain and i she plays that part part. Well i say the same thing about her. That i do on the men's side of things is that you're an xt and you've kind of present this. Hey we got the best women's division in the world but you know who's the next contender for raquel gonzalez like debts. Not clear right. Now you can go to io shirai at do rematch. That i think that makes sense but as a company you know if you have the greatest women's roster in the world. I don't think you should be looking around or in going right. Well who's next for raquel gonzalez like that person should be should be ready. So whether it's i mean whoever it's mood moody. Or what have you there. Tony storm or dakota chi or whoever. That's not to say it's a bad joe. It is a fantastic show. It's just very entering based and that's good. I mean we get storylines through smackdown. We get storylines through raw. You want good just pure entering wrestling. You come to annex t and in fact the opening match shotsie blackheart versus candice. Laurie prove my point. Exactly i mean yes. There storyline had a few big moments. Like candice running over the tank but really this was this was built through matches. It wasn't built through segments which is rough for me. Because i'm like no. I know how to i know how to tell stories. I don't know how to talk about in ring work. I can tell if things need to work. You know vary by storyline and this mattress dwell given the storyline wasn't like on raw when charlotte like tried to roll up lacey evans and did all that. It wasn't that it was brutal.
